Bar
The Butler is a historic restaurant in Saugatuck, offering American cuisine and fresh seafood with a view of the harbor. Established in 1961, it has become a landmark in downtown Saugatuck, providing an intimate and romantic dining experience. The cozy environment and waterfront views make it an ideal spot for a date night or special occasion. Guests can enjoy their meals indoors or on the outdoor deck while taking in the scenic surroundings.
The outdoor seating of the restaurant is a treat. You get a nice view of the lake and some of the cool boats and yachts. The food tastes great as well and even better when paired with the scenery. The pretzel bites appetizers were warm and soft and served with cheese and honey mustard. The fish and chips were nice and hot out of the fryer as well. The pretzel burger was gigantic in size and very tasty and paired with some truffle french fries. I would visit this place whenever I visited saugatuck because of the nice views of the outdoor seating and great food to enjoy it with.

We sat at the 2-story outside seating venue and it was awesome. The views are great no matter where you sit. We were on the 2nd story. Walleye was really fishy, had walleye the next day at a different restaurant and it was much better.
Samuel K — Google review
We came for lunch on a weekday and sat in the lower outdoor area. Our food was very good, our server was helpful and friendly, and looking out at boats on a sunny day was sublime. Prices are competitive given the location and type of restaurant. Only two downsides, music had us having to repeat ourselves quite a bit because of the volume. And while appetizers came quickly, our meals took over half an hour.
David B — Google review
Great location tucked away right on the marina. We sat on the patio as it was a beautiful day. I had the "Famous Butler Burger" with housemade kettle chips, also comes with a pickle. The housemade kettle chips are one of the best that I've ever had at a restaurant, I also had a taste of the fries, which were great as well. The burger was delicious, and I really enjoyed the black forest ham on it. Everything was cooked to perfection, absolutely would return!

My partner and I came to this place over the weekend, while visiting the area and after reading many raving reviews. If the party is not large, you cannot make reservations on Open Table. Since we were a small party of two, we walked in and gave them our name. They put us in the system, said the wait would be an hour to an hour and thirty minutes. I was mind blown by the hostess time estimate because they called us within an hour and seven minutes. The place reminds me of Krusty Krab in SpongeBob, it’s wooden paneling and dark décor. The service was okay, I wish our waiter would have been a tiny bit more attentive. You cannot tell me you’re that busy to have runners deliver the food and to check up on the table every so often (before @ me, he was not that busy and the place was not that busy). As for Appetizer, we had crab stuffed mushrooms, they were watery with a great amount of cheese on top. I would have opted-in for a breadcrumb top rather than cheese. My partner has to finish the App. For Entrée, I had the Horseradish Peppercorn Burger, it was very flavorful and cooked as recommended – medium. The side, sweet potatoes, were so stale and overcooked, it seemed like they were out all day and the cooks refried them. (again, do not @ me, I worked at Arby’s back in my prime, so I know a stale, overcooked, recooked fry). My partner had the Southwestern Salad with grilled “over seasoned” chicken and missing black beans with a grand amount of red onion. Overall, no, I did not like this place and would not recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. I wish the company all the best in their success.

I was really excited to eat and get drinks here because of the view. The view is phenomenal but I was really dissatisfied with the quality of the food. We ordered the crab stuffed mushroom caps which were served in a hot pan on a plate. The cheese was melted and stuck to the pan so we had a hard time scraping it off the bottom. The grease from the cheese was super thick and drowned the entire dish. For drinks we ordered the watermelon margarita which was $15. It tasted very watered down and like cheap watermelon flavoring. For $15 I was very disappointed and wish I had given my business elsewhere. We ordered the blood orange IPA beer which tasted amazing but it was served in a tiny plastic wine cup. Being charged $12 for a small plastic cup of beer was ridiculous. 2 drinks and a tiny appetizer should not cost $50 out the door. The only thing that impressed me and my partner (executive chef) on the menu was the raspberry goat cheese pizza which was unique. The service was nice and we were served our drinks quickly with our food.
Sarah F — Google review
My friend and I sat at the bar and Becca took amazing care of us. She made us our drinks, both were tasty. Hands down some of the best and most friendly service. We were extremely happy with our food. We started out with the street corn bruschetta . Let me tell you the flavors were amazing. The candied jalapeños with pickled red onions were the chefs kiss! We each ordered a different pizza, her the brisket ;which she enjoyed. I ordered the raspberry goat. Mine was the perfect amount of sweet and savory, simply delicious. We both got Cesar salads the half portion which was a good portion. We ordered desserts as well . We tried the peach cobbler cheesecake and flourless chocolate torte, both were fantastic! I will definitely come back . Just everything the music and vibes as well as the service surpassed all my expectations!

For having such a good location and nicely done up restaurant youd expect more from them but the food was very mediocre. Service was great but that doesnt change the satisfaction of taste. Presentation looks great, i felt catfished and cheated by the cost

Steak house
Bowdies Chophouse is a distinguished steakhouse and fine dining experience located in Saugatuck. Since its establishment in 2014, Bowdies has been known for its premium steaks, fresh seafood, and wide selection of wine served in an inviting setting. It's the perfect place to enjoy expertly prepared steaks and creative cocktails while relaxing on the outdoor patio. The restaurant is highly regarded for consistently delivering delectable steaks without trying to be something it's not.
Bowdies Chophouse delivered an excellent dining experience overall! My absolute favorites were the Dirty Martini—perfectly made—and the wedge salad, which was crisp, flavorful, and beautifully presented. We ordered the ribeye, and it was cooked to perfection—carved tableside by our charming and attentive waiter, which added a special touch. The horseradish sauce is a must—elevates the steak to the next level. For sides, the potatoes au gratin were incredible—rich, cheesy, and perfectly baked. The creamed spinach, however, missed the mark for me—too watery (1/5). The crab cake appetizer was just okay (2/5), not bad but not memorable. Service was phenomenal from start to finish—attentive, professional, and friendly. A great spot for a special night out, and I’d definitely come back for the steak, salad, and martinis!

Haven’t been to this location in quite some time. Had 5pm Reservations this past Sunday. We were seated in the upstairs part of the Restaurant. Very cozy and quiet. Lea was our Server, she was so nice and friendly and was always there when we needed her. We started with the Shrimp Cocktail. Lea warned us that the Cocktail sauce had a kick, and it did not disappoint! Great Shrimp with strong Horseradish flavor in the sauce. We both ordered Steak which was perfectly cooked/seasoned.We shared the Au Gratin Potatoes and the Creamed Spinach which was plenty for two people to share. We had the Red Velvet Cheesecake for dessert, which was a perfect ending to the meal. We were celebrating a Birthday and really enjoyed ourselves! Thank you Lea! 😃

Awesome experience for an expensive dinner out on the town at Bowdie’s. Got this place recommended by multiple locals, so had to check it out. We had Ryanne as our server and they did a phenomenal job! Very attentive, friendly, and provided great service through a slow, not rushed dinner. Drinks were good and food came out quick. We had the grilled ceasar salad, 10oz fillet, brussel sprouts, and a gratin potatoes. Everything was quite yummy. Steak was cooked perfectly (medium rare). We even got a free dessert since we’re on our honeymoon! The red velvet cheesecake was decadent. Recommend a reservation. If we’re ever back in town this’ll definitely be a place to stop. Only thing that wasn’t perfect was the volume. Towards the end of the night some of the other guests got really loud, and since it’s a small place it was really loud at our table as well. Server apologized for it and all was well, but know that if folks get too boisterous it’ll get loud!

Fantastic dinner! Went on our honeymoon, we got the escargot, grilled Cesar salad, potatoes au gratin, filet mignon and ribeye, and the peanut butter brownie for dessert. Food was fabulous, service impeccable. Wouldn’t change a thing.
Chelsea K — Google review
Though EVERY staff member we encountered was extraordinarily delightful, it was like our server Ryanne knew us personally. The food was beyond amazing and was everything Ryanne said it would be. The atmosphere upstairs was intimate. The cost is not for the faint of heart, but when out spending the evening celebrating with the love of your life, cost was not the focus.
Owen R — Google review
The filet mignon was great and they nailed the temperature. They initially seated us at a weird table where I was practically sitting next to the guy behind me. We got moved to a better table. Our server wasn't very attentive to our table at times because he was busy yakking about the restaurant industry to the table next to us. But other than that we had a good time.

Looking forward to celebrating 49 years of marriage to my beautiful wife. I’ve been here once before we took our family there looking to recreate that great experience October 23 Well we are here and this place will not disappoint. Great atmosphere food is well presented and delicious. No complaints here. Please stop by and enjoy the experience of a quaint, relaxing atmosphere.

We went to Bowdie’s on August 2nd and I picked it for my 30th. I had to write a review ASAP! I was a little worried since I wanted a really nice dinner for my birthday and did not know what to expect as we are from IL. It was an amazing experience and nothing will ever beat this experience anywhere. Our waitress Ann was funny, thoughtful, and was just overall the best. Ann helped me pick out a cocktail and customized it to my liking and went over the food in detail. The food is amazing and top notch. My husband and I will definitely be back and to also have Ann as our waitress! Would definitely recommend.

Bar & grill
American restaurant
Located in Saugatuck, Phil's Bar & Grille is a dynamic eatery with a long wood bar and a small, diverse beer list. It's known for its friendly sports pub atmosphere where regulars get rowdy during games and trivia contests. The menu goes beyond typical pub fare, offering creative dishes like adobo-rubbed ahi tuna and potato-encrusted walleye.
I finally gave Phil’s a try after vacillating for a while, but I’m glad I did. Service was good, and the place has a nice atmosphere. I ordered the muffuletta sandwich and found it to be very good. The olives and deli meats make for a very savory and slightly spicy sandwich, and the potato wedges were also cooked just right. They had some nice beers on tap, too, so that was a plus. I’m glad to have finally given Phil’s a try, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to smaller groups.

The ladies did a good job serving us. We really like the chicken wings appetizer. It’s messy, but tasty, and they gave us wet napkins so we can clean our hands. 🙌 The space is small, so there was a wait, but it’s got some charm. We do want to come back to try other entrees. 😊
Njac — Google review
This place was crowded the two nights we stayed and wanted to see if it was worth the hype. It totally was. The salmon and the crispy chicken sandwiches were both 5/5. They have crayons so you can color all over the table (even as an adult!) and the staff are so friendly. Would definitely be back and recommend this place to anyone staying in the area looking for delicious food.

We were eating in a breakfast place in Holland and the owner told us this is the only place they would eat at in the area. Turned out this is definitely one of the best place in the area! We needed to wait for an hour or so for our table because it was busy on a Saturday at 7 PM. We didn’t mind it and the owner was super nice to us. Food was great and waitress was nice! Definitely need to get the ribs. I love my walleye. The only downside is maybe the veggies need more seasoning or salt. Otherwise it would be perfect. However I would still give this place a 5 stars because I felt welcome in here and people seemed to enjoy this place. It’s a happy place with a good vibe!

Phil’s came highly recommended, And I’m so glad that we went there to celebrate my husband‘s birthday! We started with the sea scallop appetizer, which was wonderful, along with a couple of generous cocktails! For dinner, I had the lake perch, and he had the special, which was 2 bone-in pork chops with Butternut squash. He said it was the tenderest pork chops he ever had (and he just turned 70, so…🤣). We shared a vanilla gelato, ice cream sandwich, with which they topped with a birthday candle. The service and atmosphere were just perfect! This is another place. We will definitely go back to when we visit that area! Thank you For helping to make my husband’s birthday so special.

I showed up here during Pride. They were packed and I waited a little over an hour for a table. If you're reading this while waiting/before you go, I urge you to be patient. You will not be disappointed! The staff are both friendly and accomodating. The kitchen is as quick as they are masterful at preparing the food. I hope to return before I have to resort to eating their blackened burger in my dreams. Thank you, Phil's! Peep the bonus animal crackers!

Great food. The tuna poke appetizer was very good, as well as the filet mignon for the entree. Always consistent food and they have great cocktails and a very nice wine selection.

Our favorite dinner spot in Saugatuck. The salmon & wings are absolutely stellar and the atmosphere is like an inside secret everyone is happy to share. Local art on the walls; boisterous, convivial energy; low light & lively jazz; the perfect balance between relaxation and quality. Come here and feel like you've always been at home in this place. Kilwin's Chocolates is a beloved destination in Saugatuck, Michigan, offering a wide array of delectable treats. Established over 26 years ago, this traditional store is renowned for its hand-crafted chocolates, Mackinac island-style fudge, and original recipe ice cream. Located at 152 Bulter Street downtown, it's a must-visit for locals and tourists alike.
Great atmosphere, smells great too. LOVE the ice cream. 10$ for a small ice cream but it’s still pretty big.

Toasted Coconut - Had a nice coconut flavor and the ice cream was creamy. Could do without the chocolate but overall good. 3/5 Lemon Sorbetto - Given its name, I expected a more tart experience but was met with overly sweet, so much so that the lemon flavor was overwhelmed. Couldn’t finish it. 2/5 Ice cream is on the more expensive side.
Nidia L — Google review
Ice cream shops should be fun and welcoming. First time there and was greeted by a nice girl who welcomed us. We were shopping the ice cream counter and had to ask the guy with glasses what to do to get ice cream. He said what do you want? No smile, no thank you. Really hates his job. Why is he working at an ice cream shop? Good ice cream. Won’t be back.
C F — Google review
Although several flavors were sold out, the ice cream we tried was absolutely delicious, and the waffle cone was perfect. The ice cream was rich and creamy with no icy texture. The price is a bit high, but it does have a high quality taste.
Nicole S — Google review
Terrible experience. Will never be back. There is no menu so you can't see how much things cost. $15 for a small milkshake. On top of it I came with a friend who happened to be black and the lady behind the counter asked him to prepay before she would make his shake. Meanwhile, everybody else in line who was not black was not asked to pay first. I will not be back. Definitely some racist vibes.

Fabulous place in Saugatuck to get fudge, Chocolates, ice cream in homemade waffle cones, and great salt water taffy. Kilwins has a very friendly staff as well.

Ice cream is phenomenal. Went twice in the same day. Got their New Orleans pecan first which was so good and creamy. No icey texture- just cold, smooth ice cream. Really can’t get down with weighing ice cream, though. Their triple berry is to die for. The ONLY downside is the price. Almost $9 for a single scoop in a cake cone. Didn’t take a picture because I inhaled both.
Katie G — Google review
Ice cream was so lovely, can’t say the same about the service. None of the people who served us looked like they wanted to be there at all, no smiles and patience. Out of my four friends, we had someone grab us the wrong size, start scooping the wrong ice cream, and I only found out afterwards I was overcharged for the wrong size (I got a small and was charged for a regular) even after I commented surprised about the price. They were not busy and still was rushed out.

Restaurant
Located in downtown Saugatuck, Coast 236 Restaurant & Bar offers a modern dining experience with stunning views of Lake Michigan. The restaurant features a diverse menu showcasing fresh seafood, creative small plates, and artisanal cocktails. Whether you're enjoying their sushi rolls, grilled fish, or handcrafted cocktails at the bar, Coast 236 promises a memorable dining experience complemented by breathtaking lakefront scenery.
We tried this place to experience a variety of items at one sitting. They have 6 or 9 course tasting options and each has slightly different menu options. They also have à la cart, where you can order a single item for a meal. Being the first time we were there, the tasting courses seemed like a good way to go, so we could experience a wider range of options. It is on the pricey side for an every day meal, but I will say that the food was very well prepared, presented and filled with delicious combinations of flavors. I will say that you should ask about things being raw as they have a lot of dishes that are. So if you are not into raw, they are very easy to work with to get the right thing in front of you. The service was excellent and our waiter was AMAZING! He was very accommodating and made us feel very welcome. His attention and patience with us while we determined what we wanted was very much appreciated. The other staff and chef were very accommodating and we appreciated every moment. The ambiance was nice, modern and clean. They have seating both inside and outside. We chose inside after attempting an outside seating but the wind and cold made us think otherwise. Place has a very relaxing atmosphere and the staff work hard to make you feel comfortable. It might not be an every night place to eat, but it's definitely worth it for special occasions.

Top notch dining experience from start to finish. We celebrated our 10th anniversary at Coast 236 and everything was perfect from start to finish. Patrick was our server and was knowledgeable, warm, and professional. The chef came to our table which was such a nice gesture. The atmosphere is just casual enough to not be uptight but still a high end feeling and the food is PHENOMENAL! Don't hesitate to make a reservation here!

We ordered the 6 pair tasting menu. Portion size is so small, but food was memorable. We really enjoyed the halibut with the potatoes and risotto!
Alyssia H — Google review
Wow! After a fail in Chicago at a restaurant I won’t mention, Coast 236 truly reminded us of the beauty that exists when you put your heart into your work. The simple fact that they permit guests at the same table to do the tasting menu while some might choose not to is basically telling you right from the beginning that you are in a business that cares about your visit. Our server assured us that if we chose that route, the courses would be “timed as best as possible”(if ya know, ya know)….as we considered that as an option, we decided to do a family style meal. Group of 7 so we ordered everything on the menu, and per Patrick’s recommendation, two of some. I considered going through the dishes but I simply can’t …all bangers!! That being said….the foie w/ plum was crazy good and the scallops came straight from Heaven. The dessert list covers all bases…the obligatory chocolate, the savory, and the sweet. Well done 236! Thank you Chef, Patrick, FOH, and BOH….that was EXCEPTIONAL!!

Absolutely fantastic, improbable fine dining establishment you would expect in NYC or Chicago, but all the more unique to find it in quaint, idyllic Saugatuck. We had the 9 course tasting menu and every dish was outstanding. The staff were amazing and the chef came out to greet us during our meal. We will certainly be back!
Houston F — Google review
We recently dined at Coast 236 and left extremely disappointed. We spent over $150 per person, yet still had to get a second dinner elsewhere afterward just to feel full. The manager was extremely rude and unhelpful throughout the experience. At no point were we informed that the tasting menu portions would be drastically smaller than regular entrées—something that should have been explained upfront as standard procedure. When we raised our concerns at the end of the meal, the way the situation was handled felt more like negotiating at a used car dealership than dining at a fine restaurant. They went back and forth with us and ultimately offered only 20% off select items—not even the full bill. Even after the so-called “discount,” we still spent over $600 and left hungry. The only positive was our server, who was very kind but unfortunately caught in the middle of a poorly managed establishment. We ended up tipping him out of pity because it was clear the issues came from management, not him. Overall, a very disappointing and overpriced experience. SCAM!

We had the most delicious anniversary dinner. We decided to go ala carte instead of choosing the tasting menu. We both had the Ciopinno and it was amazing. Evan, our server was delightful! 10 out of 10 recommended Catch 236!

We hosted our rehearsal dinner at Coast 236 and had the greatest experience. From the food to the drinks, the staff and the atmosphere, everything was absolute perfection. Our guests had nothing but amazing things to say about the appetizers, entrees and desserts. The bartenders and servers were so friendly, accommodating, helpful and knowledgeable. The owner Rick was so easy to work with and he runs a truly beautiful restaurant. I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience. Truly a night I will never forget! Thank you Rick and your incredible staff for making our night so memorable!

I recently visited 'Round the Corner Ice Cream and it was a delightful experience. The friendly staff welcomed me with enthusiasm, offering samples and recommendations that made the visit even more enjoyable. What impressed me most was their variety of dairy-free options, including chocolate, vanilla, and birthday cake flavors. Despite being busy, the staff efficiently served everyone while maintaining their friendliness. The generous portions of delicious ice cream at reasonable prices make it the best place in the area for a sweet treat.
What a great ice cream shop! Perfect location and a very large selection of ice cream. There is some indoor seating, but more outside. You definitely can't go wrong here.

My friends and I were in need of an ice cream fix and we stumbled upon Charlie’s! They had so many flavors it was hard to choose! I got the mint chocolate chip ice cream. While it wasn’t the best mint chip I’ve had, I did enjoy it! They only had a few dairy free options which was surprising due to fast amount of flavors they had. One of my friends got the dole whip which they liked! The staff were friendly and fast when serving us. There was however very limited seating inside which was a little disappointing. If I’m ever in saugatuck again I would give this place another try!

This place was adorable! Such a cute downtown and with multiple ice cream shops to choose from, I'm glad we landed at Charlie's. All the kids were satisfied customers, the outdoor seating was great and the shop is really cute! Highly recommend! Lovely staff as well, as a big family we often have one person helping us and the next available person goes to the next group. At Charlie's, everyone served our group at once which meant we were in and out quickly!

Bar
Sand Bar Saloon is a hidden gem nestled in the bustling streets of Saugatuck. The city has a rich history, with the buried Singapore settlement lying beneath the nearby dunes. Founded in 1837, it quickly became a hub for lumber and shipbuilding due to its abundant forests. The bar offers a warm and friendly atmosphere, making it the perfect spot for those seeking refuge while their companions shop. With quick bartenders and good live music, it's an ideal place to unwind.
Oh how I love a dimly lit bar with a pool table. Great service, wicked good bluesy music on the jukebox, and the way the sun was shining through the front window was perfection.
Catherine R — Google review
Definitely has a saloon feel! The bartender whas polite and has a great sense of humor! We had a group of 14 people that came in and he took care of everyone without any issues! Although they don't have any food, they do have popcorn. The live band was that a perfect sound level so that you can still have a conversation in the back side of the bar and was entertaining enough to keep the dance floor full. There are also two pool tables in the back.

A local bar with not a lot of fancy It is perfect- Dominick was great conversationalist and a lot of fun. Just like a good bartender should be. Really enjoyed our time there. Pool table. Pin ball machine

First and foremost we are a couple that likes little hinding gems 💎 in small towns, so we are walking around town and was like so excited to see this place all smiles walking into a dark rustic bar as we walked in my boyfriend looked at me and said this is it let's have a drink with a big bright smile on his face 😀 as I walked up looking at the bar for a seat the bartender male with long dark hair looks at us and says cash only, I smiled and said no problem I have cash but there was no seats at the bar and I wanted to find a table to set my things down to walk back up to order this rude bartender then says we'll are you even ordering a drink mind you I'm not even to the table yet my boyfriend looks at me and says let's go ....Not sure if your the owner or the bartender that day buy you have very rude manners and customer services. I've been in the industry for along time and ran a bar myself , my boss told me the first thing you see in a place is the way you greet your guest and you never know what that person is going through in life. True statement as I just loss my dad last Sunday 😔 Thanks for showing me a great time

4 star dive bar all the way. Our must stop when visiting Saugatuck. Dimly lit no fuss bar with fun and chatty bartender (Dominic you're the best) Be prepared to pay cash only and make sure to check out all the photos and ask about them! Find some great tunes in the jukebox and unwind
Erica A — Google review
Dom was hilarious! Would definitely go back just to see him! We didn’t eat but the hotdogs looked and smelled delicious! We loved the hole in wall feel and were pleasantly surprised how clean the bathrooms were! Highly recommend stopping in!!! Thanks dom! (Tito’s and lemonade?) 😂
Kristi S — Google review
We popped in here because it looked kind of "dive bar-ish". It was definitely a dive bar, and the vibe was great. Our bartender, Dominic, was friendly, funny, and a bit sarcastic, but that's what you want in this type of bar. He told us that he makes a mean bloody Mary, and he wasn't wrong! It was perfectly spicy, and damn tasty. Hopefully we'll visit Saugatuck again, and we'll definitely pop back in for a few cocktails!!!
Dotti C — Google review
This has everything - unexpected hot dogs, super cool bartenders, pool, great live music and a Sopranos pin ball machine. It's probably best I'm not a Saugatuck native because I'd be at Sand Bar every night if I was.

Pumpernickels is a charming 2-story breakfast and lunch cafe with a screened porch. The restaurant prides itself on sourcing fresh ingredients from local Michigan farmers, offering shareable meat and cheese boards, and serving a unique Smoked Old Fashioned cocktail prepared tableside.
Absolutly great first time experience coming here last night for dinner. The food was exceptional, service was good and the live music inside sounded wonderful as well. Will be returning for sure!

We - a group of 5 guys who come from Chicago and NYC each year to Saugutuck for a reunion - and we make a regular daily visit. i mention the locations we come from because the food expectations are high. pumpernickel’s became a go-to because of this. This year, the visit to Pumpernickel’s was different but still excellent. the menu is different but still very good. if you come for the old menu, try the new stuff. it’s tasty! the service is still excellent! but no pancakes :(the dinner menu looks great too and we will try it soon)

Fantastic service & delicious food even on a busy night! Our server Anna was amazing with her attentiveness & prompt drink & food service for our table. The live music was AWESOME. We'll definitely be back for another great date night ❤️

Pumpernickels has been in Saugatuck for a while now, but it seems to have changed a bit since the last time I visited. It feels like a fancier place now, but the food is still good and prices aren’t too high. I got breakfast there on this visit, and I settled on the corned beef hash after a brief discussion with my server. It was a good choice, and the meal was excellent. The corned beef was delicious and there were enough vegetables in there to stay interesting. It was a lot of food too, so I felt it was a good value for the money. My server was quite attentive and seemed nice, and the place itself feels inviting. While perhaps not my favorite breakfast joint in Saugatuck, it is a good choice nonetheless. It’s certainly worth a try.

Perfect bites to share with friends and most unique with delicious flavor proving little bites don't have to have little flavor. This was the perfect spot to have a little something to eat and drink when first arriving in town and before a bigger meal. There are opportunities to linger a little longer with bocce and other lawn games.

This place is awesome! The new menu is amazing! Deep fried perogies were so awesome, steak dish is perfect. My wife had the best swordfish in her life she said. The absolute best part was seeing the chef come out and speak to all the tables. He is extremely knowledgeable and very funny. The last of a dying breed anymore. Overall, new top spot in town!

Allison is absolutely amazing. She greeted us outside while we were looking at the menu. When we said we were just looking, she said, "Well, hopefully you'll be back!". After looking at lots of other places, we came back and are so glad we did. Everything was awesome. I loved watching her greet people coming in, while making drinks & serving everyone with a smile. The food was great, too (could have used more Naan bread, though) and the atmosphere was lovely. I really enjoyed the playlist, too. Awesome place- keep doing what you're doing.

We had the perfect seats, overlooking the street. The presentation was incredible. They even use real cloth napkins, and real silverware. The fruit was impeccable in presentation. The Reuben was the best we have ever had. The corn beef is pulled every morning, not sliced. It was the perfect consistency and flavor. Everything about our experience was perfect. We will definitely continue to go to this restaurant. You will love it!

The Saugatuck Dune Rides is a popular tourist attraction in Saugatuck, operating since the 1950s. Its rugged off-road trails offer visitors great views of lakeshore dunes, trees and grasses. The drivers are knowledgeable and provide interesting historical facts about the area during their tours. The ride lasts around 45 minutes but seems to go by quickly due to its fun nature.
A Thrilling and Memorable Adventure! Saugatuck Dune Rides was an absolute blast—a must-do for all ages! From start to finish, it was a fun-filled adventure that had our whole family smiling and holding on tight. The ride takes place in a custom-built truck that handles the sandy terrain like a champ—it honestly felt like a roller coaster in the dunes! Our guide was upbeat, welcoming, and full of fascinating insights about the unique history and formation of the Saugatuck dunes. We made a few scenic stops along the way, perfect for capturing photos and soaking in the view. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife, too—we spotted deer and chipmunks right along the route! Pro tip: Book ahead on their website! This ride is super popular, and walk-ups might be out of luck. There's also a charming gift shop on site along with sweet treats. The whole experience lasts about 40 minutes and is truly enjoyable for everyone in the family. Highly recommend adding this to your Michigan adventure list—you won’t regret it!

We were incredibly lucky to have Frosty as our guide our kids kept yelling "THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER & THIS IS SO MUCH FUN" our toddler kept crying any time he stopped that's how fun it was. It was great and so nice to hear about the dunes. Recommend to anyone and everyone! They were also very understanding and accommodating when we got the time zone mixed up since we were staying in IN. They were great.

Thank you for the fun memories 👏

Frosty is the best!!!! Myself, My 17, 13 and 9 year old LOVED this ride! We felt bad for the other riders because they didn't have Frosty! When we passed them their tour looked so boring! We really lucked out with a fun, energetic tour guide. Ride was about 40 minutes from what I can remember. You do get called to get on the ride ahead of time so be prepared to show up a little early and get checked in. They have a souvenir shop to look at before or after with a few refreshments for purchase. Book ahead of time online and keep checking the day before and morning of if you still need an opening. People were being turned away that came up looking to purchase. They sell out quick! Even on a weekday! Don't 2nd guess- Do the ride! You wont regret it! Have Fun!

Wow! What an amazing experience! This was the highlight of our trip to this area! It was worth every penny! The guide was phenomenal, and the ride was so fun and exhilarating. We also learned so much on this adventure!!! We highly recommend!

Be prepared to wait if you have a large party of people, but it's definitely worth it. The place has a good sense of humor, especially our driver, Paul, who was hilarious and made it ten times better. It's basically an educational roller coaster ride. You'll be on the ride for about an hour. It was a wonderful day to be out seeing the dunes and the wildlife. The deer are unafraid of getting close to the vehicle.
Zachary B — Google review
Totally worth the money. We all loved it - from kids (4-7) to grandparents (65+). The whole week was sold out, but I got 8 tickets at 7am the day before. We did a 9:40am ride in August 2025. Recently we've had highs of 90+ deg. The morning ride was very comfortable and the sand was still cool. The ride was super smooth - even sitting in the back row it was not jarring at all. We really appreciated our driver who was the perfect blend of history & entertainment.
Jordan W — Google review
The dune rides were beyond expectations! Booking was easy and they were very flexible when we needed to switch time slots. The staff was friendly and accommodating and I love that this is a locally owned small business which adds to the exclusivity of the experience. It is the best way to get to know the area, and I can already see this being a place I come back to every time I am in town. It is a quick thrill I would not miss. The guides truly make the ride and Paul especially stood out. He genuinely seemed to enjoy what he was doing, and he even made us think that giving tours and driving buggies all day might not be such a bad life. Watch out for snakes 😉

Saugatuck Harbor Natural Area is a serene spot in the Art Coast, offering forested paths and rolling dunes for hiking. This historic site, situated on 173 acres of land at the original mouth of the Kalamazoo River, became a city park in 2011. Visitors can enjoy walking along the clean beach and exploring secluded wooded trails. The area also features beautiful sunsets and picturesque views of Lake Michigan surrounded by dunes.
Beautiful place even on a cold grey winter day. Loved the natural dunes.

Saugatuck Harbor Natural Area is a hidden gem for nature lovers! 🌿✨ The trail is scenic and peaceful, winding through sand dunes, wetlands, and forested paths before opening up to a beautiful stretch of Lake Michigan beach. The hike is moderate, but the views make it totally worth it! 🏖️ If you enjoy birdwatching, photography, or just escaping into nature, this spot is perfect. There aren’t many facilities here, so it’s best to pack your own water and snacks. The natural, untouched vibe of the place makes it feel special and serene compared to busier tourist beaches nearby. Sunsets here are magical, and the gentle sound of the waves makes it the perfect place to relax and recharge. 🌅 Highly recommended if you’re in the Saugatuck area and want a quieter, more scenic escape!

Southern restaurant (US)
American restaurant
The Southerner is a laid-back lakeside restaurant that offers Southern-style dishes and cocktails in a comfortable setting. It's a popular spot for travelers looking to unwind by the water and enjoy some delicious food. The venue is known for its relaxed atmosphere and tasty cuisine, making it a must-visit for those seeking an authentic Southern dining experience. With its scenic location and delectable menu, The Southerner provides the perfect setting for a leisurely afternoon or evening out.
This gem in Saugatuck (along the River) is worth the stop and wait! Indoor capacity is under 100 people but they do also have outdoor seating. Atmosphere has an old southern home feel and the menu options are classic southern staples. Party tried the fried catfish platter and the chicken tenders. Everything was awesome (slightly disappointed in only 1 fish filet tho). Otherwise all components were so good (spicy coleslaw, crispy fries, and the remoulade is the Best!!!) Definitely want to go back to try more. Coke products served; which is always a plus for us!
K N — Google review
The food was good, as always, but the experience was a disappointment. There was no Southern hospitality—policies seemed to matter more than customers. We placed a large order, spending over $200 at the outside window, planning to enjoy it on the front patio. After paying, the manager told us that due to their “policy,” we couldn’t order what we had already purchased as takeout. She adjusted our order to fit their rules, which left us with less food—then asked us to pay about 20% more on top of it. What a sad policy. To make matters worse, they seemed to realize it was wrong, because they brought out what appeared to be day-old desserts as a consolation. Sorry for the long review, but customers should come first. In this case, their priorities were backwards, and it showed.
Tim F — Google review
The Southerner is hands down my favorite spot for chicken! They make their own Nashville hot sauce (you can pick from mild to extreme), and it’s absolutely incredible. The weekends do get busy, but they make the wait easy with a walk-up bar and plenty of seating while you wait. The location is perfect, right on the Kalamazoo River—making it the ideal place to spend summer days. Parking can get tight when it’s busy, so plan ahead. Prices are on the higher side, especially for drinks, but the food and atmosphere make it well worth it. If you want to treat yourself or your loved ones, The Southerner is the place to go!
Marisa B — Google review
Looked like a dive in the outside but was cute on the inside with a view of water. I had the catfish poor boy with fries. My sandwich was good but my fries were so salty that they were burning my mouth. I was not able to eat them. My guy had the debris poor boy. He said, “it was ok. It wasn’t fantastic.” He loved the his fries because they were crispy the way he likes them. His appeared to have been salted less.

We are from the Metro Detroit area, but every time we head out west, we we make a special trip to The Southerner; this is our 4 or 5th visit because their food and drinks are amazing. Service is always good and the restaurant is beautiful and sits off of a little piece of water. It’s a small dining area, but they’ve recently opened up the deck and patio spaces where you can wait and have a drink beforehand. There’s a waitlist that you can get on because you cannot make reservations beforehand, but it never seems to be an excessively long way anytime we go. We were greeted and seated right away in the secondary dining room where we ordered drinks and app for the table. We got 2 orders of the appetizer fritters and the family meal for 6 (Catfish; fried chicken in mild hot sauce and original; Mac n cheese, collard greens; biscuits with honey butter, and lastly, an order of french fries.) we also received coleslaw. Everyone enjoyed the food so much but the standouts were the catfish and crab fritters with that spicy remoulade sauce, spicy dipped chicken, and the mac & cheese. The greens don’t have any meat in them, they instead use miso to give you a little bit of depth to it. They just needed a little bit more spice so we added the hot sauce dip and it was incredible. The biscuits are the flakiest most beautifully baked things I have ever tasted. They’re so amazing with that honey butter. They used to serve a succotash with black eyes peas that was out of this world. It’s no longer on the menu, but it’s something that kept us coming back here after year. Hopefully it makes a return. Drinks were perfect too - well mixed; my husband likes a booze forward cocktail and these did not disappoint. Leftovers were plenty and they reheated well. Still moist after a trip home and back in oven.

This has been a hard one to write about, especially since being local to this amazing place, we finally had a day of to go. We were there around noon (they open at 11) and our orders were taken around 12:30. We were seated outside, which was really nice and everyone around us was complimenting their food. It encouraged us that we made the right decision coming out for lunch. We had even studied the menu that morning because we don't like being indecisive. My husband had the Fried Catfish Platter and I had the deviled crab and Langostino Poor Boy. We noticed that the menu did not list anything that was a side salad so we decided to share with the Little Gem Salad which are server assured us could feed 2 people. After watching several couples come and go, we realized that we had no food in front of us and checked the time, it was 1:20 pm. We had been waiting nearly 50 minutes for our food and I had hoped that maybe they would bring the salad out beforehand. There was even one point where 1 of the fake fingernails from the waitress fell off onto the table. When the food finally came out, we were happy to see it but we were soon let down. The salad was incredibly bland and flavorless but we ate it because we were hungry. My husband did like his catfish dinner but when he realized he only got one piece for the price, he was very surprised. For what you pay, you really need to have 2 or 3 pieces and they don't have to be gigantic. His cole slaw was also very strongly seasoned. My crab/lobster poor boy was okay. The meat was served cold on the bun with a relish and lettuce, which is too much green on one sandwich. The bun was great and yeah, it was a very spicy roll, at least to me. Maybe we should have spoken up. Maybe we should have said more but I didn't know what direction to go because it was our first time eating there. We not sure if we'll go back anytime soon but I want you to judge for yourself. Good luck.
Leigh A — Google review
Oh my goodness, I got my southern on at this place. The shrimp and grits were fantastic! I had greens and the jalapeno corn salad as my sides and they were huge. There is a lower rating on atmosphere just because it was incredibly noisy. BUT, it's in a dive that reminded me of restaurants I used to go to when I lived in Texas and Louisiana. The only menu option that was missing was fried okra, oh that and cornbread. They brag up their biscuits however 😉

Pennyroyal Cafe & Provisions is a unique dining destination that offers an unforgettable experience with its seasonal dishes and house favorites available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Chef Missy Corey, known for winning Food Network's show Chopped, utilizes local products from farmers and heirloom produce from her own farm in crafting the spectacular menu. The cafe also boasts a great ambiance with lovely outdoor seating and well-crafted drinks.
Pennyroyal Café & Provisions is a brunch lover’s dream! I had the English-style breakfast and it was absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked and full of flavor, definitely order the hash-browns! The Bloody Mary was one of the best I’ve had, balanced and bold. The latte was smooth and well-crafted, and the oatmeal cookie pie was so good I wish I had ordered more—sadly, they sold out fast (which says a lot!). They also have a tempting variety of fresh baked goods that looked amazing. Plenty of parking, including electric charging stations, made it really convenient. The service was excellent, and the ambience was spot on—charming, cozy, and perfect for a relaxing brunch. Can’t wait to come back!

The Deluxe and Johnnycakes were absolutely delicious! The hash browns and the corn cakes definitely stole the show! They have inside searing but I highly recommend to sear outside, is so relaxing, the staff and service was outstanding. This part of the review is a big heads up if you go, PLEASE be mindful and DRIVE SLOW through their parking. Is a gravel parking lot, I saw a lot of people hauling in and out, lifting this cloud of dust. Just think for a second if you would like that in your food! So slow down!! Local owned, local food, highly recommended to try it!!!

LOVE 🫶🏼 This place has the kind of food that’s down to earth but somehow feels fancy! The atmosphere outside is peaceful with mature trees, string, lights, and tons of seating with beautiful live music and some areas are even covered! The inside feels cozy and warm. Fabulous creative food that was tasty. We went back numerous times on our vacation because there was so many things to try on the menu. Pretty reasonable prices also. We had Saturday night dinner in October at Pennyroyal Café and Provisions. Although the evening was on the chillier side, we had reserved outdoor seating well in advance. When you arrive, the first impression is beautiful — a garden oasis with plenty of parking and a clear emphasis on sustainability (they have EV parking spaces.) Unfortunately, our experience began on a frustrating note. We checked in a few minutes early, were told our table wasn’t ready, and were advised we’d receive a text when it was available. We enjoyed a lovely glass of Pinot Noir in the small bar and market area while we waited, but after 15 minutes past our reservation time, we checked back in only to be told our table was still occupied. We had made this reservation over six months in advance as our honeymoon dinner, so it was disappointing that no accommodation could be made. At the 30-minute mark, we were finally seated and, in our opinion, one of the senior waitstaff handled the situation with a level of arrogance that set the tone poorly. The hostess, however, was kind and understanding, which we appreciated. Once seated, the food itself reminded us why Pennyroyal has such a reputation. We started with the poutine (with egg), poblano corn chowder, and tomato tart with garden salad and fennel. The tart and salad were the stars — perfectly balanced and beautifully executed. The chowder was a touch over-seasoned, and while the poutine was enjoyable, it lacked the depth or richness we’ve had elsewhere. For entrées, we had the braised short ribs and the “ham” pork chop. The short ribs were cooked perfectly, though the flavor profile leaned more toward a summer barbecue than the deeper, wine-based preparation we prefer. The pickled crispy onions were unexpected but well-made. The pork chop, on the other hand, was outstanding — tender, flavorful, and complemented by creamy mashed potatoes and a delicious creamed spinach sauce. The carrots were slightly al dente for our taste, but overall, it was a beautiful and well-executed dish. Overall: The food and setting at Pennyroyal are five-star worthy — thoughtful, seasonal, and beautifully presented. However, the lack of hospitality and inflexibility with our reservation diminished what could have been a perfect experience. Still, it’s a restaurant worth considering when in Saugatuck, especially if you appreciate creative cuisine and sustainable practices — just be prepared for a place that knows its worth.

Dog friendly patio, great atmosphere, perfect lighting. Food was SOO fresh & delicious. Highly recommend twice baked potato skillet & blueberry pancakes. I would 100% visit again just for this breakfast.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Mount Baldhead Park in Saugatuck, Michigan offers a picturesque natural escape with its forested surroundings and stunning views. The highlight of the park is the 282-step climb to the summit of Mount Baldhead, where visitors are treated to breathtaking panoramic views of Saugatuck, the Kalamazoo River, and Lake Michigan. For those seeking a more leisurely experience, there's a one-mile loop trail that leads to Oval Beach.
I could almost hear Led Zeppelin singing Stairway to Heaven as we ascended the 303 steps. Reach the top...don't be disappointed by having absolutely no view. Wander a little further to the left and you will quickly be on a path leading to a view point above the beach. Wander to the right and you head straight down to the lake front beach area. Well worth the visit.

Challenging staircase to the top of the mountain, with three moderate main trails leading to the dunes and beach. They could use better markers, the wind has all but worn away the ridge trail at its peak but it's still passable. Very sandy trails, some roots and downed trees that are marked.

I had my rehearsal dinner there at the covered pavilion picnic area 17 years ago & got married on Oval Beach. We went back to visit for our anniversary & everything looks exactly the same. Beautiful peaceful area. Nice folks everywhere.
Jacie D — Google review
Not worth the 303 steps. Climbed all the way up just to find out that you can barely see Lake Michigan from the top and have to walk down the sand dunes or something to see it. The view of Kalamazoo Lake is decent but not what I went for at all. Might be better in winter when there aren’t any leaves on the trees but other than that NOT WORTH IT.

It was a nice morning trip. Make sure you are ready for some stairs. The views were good. Does not take a lot of time. Worth the walk.

Mount Baldhead Park is connect to Oval Beach. If you want to go to Oval Beach, there are other paths too 303 wooden steps up 250 feet to the top of the Mt. Baldhead dune. Very challenging indeed especially in the summer. There are some shades along the staircase and breakpoint. Once you get on top to the observation platform, you can get a nice view of the Kalamazoo river bend. Come here early because parking lot is small. After lunch, people swamp in and police have to close the street.

Not a lot of parking but enough. A couple hundred stairs up but there are plenty of places to stop and rest. The view going up is so pretty! Can't wait to see it in the fall.
Baby J — Google review
Steps were easy enough to ascend. Nice little benches along the way, about every two flights for those who need a breather. The platform at the top for viewing the scenery was really tilted in spots, though. I can imagine folks could stumble up top after their long climb and have a hard time coming back down. We used this path as a way to the dune path that leads to Oval Beach. Nice little climb and walk and bypassed the $15 car entry fee! Great views and scenery to boot.

The menu features a variety of options, including chicken tacos, vegetarian tacos, and ice cream with fried horchata for dessert. If you are reading this because you're looking for a restaurant with fantastic food, think no more and just go here. Their food was incredible. These may not be traditional Mexican tacos, but still very good. Top tier flavors that make you want more. Absolutely loved the tacos. We genuinely enjoyed every single thing we tried here.

With a 4.9 rating, we had to check out this casual taco place in charming Saugatuck. It's by the waterfront, but doesn't have water views indoors or outside. Order at the counter and they'll make your cocktail and pour your beer right away. They'll deliver your tacos directly to your table inside or out. We tried a selection of tacos and added ingredients based on recommendations. Very friendly service. Tasty taco combos with diced cukes instead of the usual shredded cabbage. Great margarita and a variety of beers in cans, but they pour them in cups. The steak tacos have a kick. Very casual and family friendly. Lots of large groups dining in. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 stars Highly recommend!

Stumbled into this place. Nice take on non-traditional tacos. We went with a paloma and a margarita for starters. Can't go wrong with either one. The paloma was nice and smoky. Our 6 yr old is a hard sell, but loved the quesadilla and crushed the whole plate. We had the chips and queso for starters and it was delicious. Followed that up with the coconut shrimp taco, fish and chips taco, and southwest chicken taco. The ghost pepper salsa was a delight as well! We will be back during our visit here!
Geoff M — Google review
Amazing tacos that taste so fresh and super filling. I especially loved the steak taco and shrimp! Both tacos were simply out of this world! Look forward to trying the full menu at this gem 💎

I really enjoyed everything I had here! The flavor pairings are creative and delicious. The sauces are all yummy and seem to have a flavor for everyone's taste on our table. The portion sizes were great, they did not skimp on ingredients at all!! The servers were enthusiastic about the offering and kind, they offered great suggestions for what we asked for. This will be a staple for us now!!

Tried this little gem! Amazing food and service, the food was delicious with many different taco options! That corn dip was incredible! Beautiful weather and sat outside!
Amy S — Google review
We ended up parking right by this place (end of strip) so we decided to eat here for dinner. Came around 5:45 and the line was out the door. We got in line just in time as the line got even longer soon after. We saved a table before we got in line. Casual dining - get in line, order and pay for food, sit down, few tables outside. Clean restaurant, bathrooms were clean. Staff were all very nice. They did have someone cleaning off tables. There's a timer so you know about how long it'll take to get your food. Food: BBQ pork taco, coconut shrimp taco, small nachos (not that small!) with BBQ pork, Chicago beef empanada, mango + goat cheese empanada - all delicious, flavorful, tender meats. (Even the picky eater in our group loved it! Lol) Will def return!

Breakfast restaurant
Ida Red's Cottage has been a beloved spot in Saugatuck since 1986, offering a warm and homey atmosphere for breakfast and lunch. Located on Water Street, this cozy eatery is known for its friendly service and diverse menu, featuring everything from omelets to steak and eggs to fresh fruit bowls. The covered outdoor seating adds to the charm of this Saugatuck staple.
This place is the basics done right. Prices were fantastic and the food was great! The menu is fairly simple and classic but both the ingredients and the preparation were perfect. I had a better breakfast here than I've had in ages and it was less than half what I would pay at any new age brunch place. The scrambles, pancakes and breakfast sandwhich were all amazing. I very much doubt you could go wrong here.
Ian R — Google review
We live in Saugatuck and enjoy going for brunch occasionally. We recommend the cornmeal pancakes and blueberry muffins. The omlet/scrambles are fantastic. The winter hours significantly reduce their schedule (open Friday thru Sunday). Because it is so popular, in the summertime, you will have to wait to get in. The location, is right across the street from the water, and in summer there is lots of activity and the town is filled with love and romance. Great place to come with your loved ones. Food here is great. Must go even if you have to wait....it's worth it.
HONEY — Google review
We were staying nearby (iykyk), and like most hidden gems we found this place because the place we planned to go had an hour long wait. So we ended up here got sat right away and had the most peaceful relaxing breakfast on the porch. The food was delicious but im simple I had the two eggs two sausage meal. My ONLY comment was the Cottage Fries are actually chips and for the life of me scrambled eggs and potato chips . I just couldn't do it. But the stagg was kind enough to bring me a paper bag to.take them with me for later and they were great at lunch time. So if you're in the area skip the obvious option. Also my grandmother's name was Ida.
Alton D — Google review
A bustling space when it’s busy, and a reasonable wait for food since it is from scratch, but it was well worth it. The pancakes were divine. It felt and tasted like you were having breakfast at grandmas. Seating at the bar/counter is first come first serve, which worked out swimmingly for my husband and I. Reasonably priced, as well, for great quality food.
Allie C — Google review
Cannot comment on food. We didn't get that far. We were there on a girls trip. GMA, mom and adult daughter. You came recommended to us so we walked through town to try. We expected a wait , put our name on list , told 25-30 min. Still fine. After writing name down my daughter was feeling faint in the heat and asked for a glass of water. The lady rudely, said I already let her slide (lady sitting next to counter with drink in hand) we don't do to go drinks. We weren't going, we were already on list looking forward to trying your establishment. A simple glass of water to keep from fainting....we did not ask for a milk shake or something out of the ordinary and would have paid for water if asked. We quietly left in disbelief and crossed the street where she was given some water ( before they even opened as they saw her in need) and we stayed for lunch . Simple human kindness goes a long way . If I am being honest I hope you never find yourself in need of a simple kindness that you cannot receive.
Susan B — Google review
The food was delicious, the waitress was friendly. Then everything went south. They wouldn't split the check when asked but didn't tell us that was the policy. I had said at the table when ordering that I was paying for three of the meal, but she must not had heard me. The cashier had an attitude and was extremely rude on the whole situation. I was paying with cash, so I put $60 on the counter and said keep the change for your inconvenience, apologized and left. I will never return.

Sports bar
Spectators Bar & Grill is a casual spot with a laid-back atmosphere, perfect for enjoying hearty pub grub and draft beer while catching up on sports games. The outdoor patio provides a pleasant setting to savor the food and drinks, especially on warm days with its shaded areas and refreshing breeze. The menu offers a variety of options, from blackened grouper with fresh green beans to mouthwatering smoked meats like tender ribs.
Staying at Fern Valley Cottage near the Saugatuck Dunes State Park. We had been to Saugatuck several times to eat but wanted to try something local without going back into town. We stopped in at the Spectators Sports Bar and Grill and are sure glad we did. Wonderful local eatery with lots of beer and food choices. We just loved this place. Extremely friendly and top-notch service. You could not ask for better food or service. Many local people here but everyone was welcome. Such an inviting placed. If you like a friendly setting with good food and great service stop in the Spectators Sports Bar & Grill.

dropped in and grabbed a burger, service was good and speedy, the burger was tasty and cooked to perfection. I would do it again. A little pricey but still a decent value.

I’ve been a huge fan of Spectators for years, and it’s become a beloved go-to spot for my friends and family as well. We’ve been coming here for as long as I can remember, and the food never disappoints. Some of our all-time favorite staples include the mouthwatering wings, the perfectly cooked petite sirloin, the flavorful hot lava burger, and the delicious chicken bbq wrap, just to name a few! The reward system is such a great bonus, and the weekly specials always give us something new to look forward to. There’s a welcoming laid back vibe every time we visit, and we truly hope Spectators stays just the way it is. Highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for great food, friendly service, and a place that feels like home.

Sean — Google review
Up until last night Spectators had been one of our family's favorite places to eat. This was the first time we have been there under the new ownership. Its a bit disappointing when people that walk in the door the same time as you, get there food, eat their meal and get the check, before our food came out. It took an hour for our food to come out after our order was taken. I know a large group came in about the time we did. And our server was apologetic for the situation. But maybe if it hadn't taken her 15 minutes to bring our drinks out after we ordered. She could have gotten our meal order in sooner. And maybe if the food had been a bit better I wouldn't be giving a 3 star review. But my club sandwich had definitely been sitting in the kitchen a while before it came out. The toast was cold and stale, one step up from cardboard. And after the first five in our group got their food it was almost another 10 minutes before the last person got theirs. Out of respect for how it used to be under the old ownership, I'm leaving a 3 star review instead of a 1 star. And to be fair the waitress did remove that last persons meal from our tab. But still wasn't how we wanted to celebrate my wife's birthday.
Ben B — Google review
Great food and service. The wet burrito, BBQ wrap and perch basket my family ordered were delicious. We will visit this place again.

Everything was amazing! The French Pear cocktail, salmon, and filet were 10/10. Though they do not have an official kids menu, they offered options for my toddler, such as buttered noodles. Love this beach. Water is pretty shallow, great deep sand. The dunes are just gorgeous and the scenery is amazing. Not too crowded. Definitely recommend
Gideon W — Google review
The beach is picturesque, with a very long and wide view. Be careful about swimming as there are few warnings about cross currents. Very few facilities compared to the $15 entry fee. No lifeguard, no live saving equipment. Only 1 restroom facility in the middle, so you have to walk a long way to get there. Restrooms are not clean either. You need to take your own sitting arrangements to stay near the beach.
Najmul H — Google review
Plenty of parking at 1030am on a Tuesday in June and not crowded at all. Definitely got busier as the day went on but plenty of beach space. Gorgeous views, perfect sand and easy shallow entry and never got deep all the way to the bouys. The $15 entry allows you to come and go so we came back for sunset in the evening as well. Only thing that needs to happen is a bathroom upgrade/update which is hopefully planned in the near future.
Amanda E — Google review
Coming from the rocky (but also beautiful) beaches of the Great Lake Erie, the soft sands of Oval Beach on Lake Michigan were amazing. Listening to the sand "sing" underfoot was fascinating. Water was clear, warm, and refreshing, but beware- no lifeguards. Views atop the dunes were well worth the effort of climbing the paths. Also know there is a day fee for entry- not a free park.
Mike ( — Google review
Loved this beach! It was my first time at Lake Michigan and I was blown away by how clear the water was. The waves were calm, the sand was soft though a bit deep, and the water access was amazing. When we went the first day it was not crowded at all, probably because it was right on the edge of off season. It was the middle of the day, hot and refreshing, and the swim section was large. I wished it was a little deeper. The second day was a completely different story. The biting flies were unbearable and there were hundreds of them swarming us. We ran into the water but they clung to our backs, and when we got out they had camped out in our bags. It turned into a full run back to the car. I have never experienced anything like it and it really feels like this is a beach you have to time just right to enjoy.
Alaya S — Google review
Oval Beach is gorgeous! We went on a Tuesday in June. We got a later start than I had hoped, so I was worried about parking and crowds. We arrived at the park between 9:45 and 10 am. Much to my delight, the parking was PLENTIFUL and the beach was not crowded. It did get more crowded as the day went on, but it was totally manageable. The sand was soft and beautiful and not hot in most places. Our main experiences with beaches have been along the Gulf Coast, and this beach was very different in a good way. We did not have to dodge jellyfish or seaweed. The sand was clean and not littered with trash and cigarette butts. It wasn't surrounded by high-rise condos and beach umbrellas. It was beautiful! The water, even in June, was very cold, so not getting to swim was a bummer for my teenagers, but we enjoyed playing in the sand, sitting and watching the waves, and going for a walk over the sand dunes and down the beach. We also watched people flying kites, people in sailboats, and a couple of sailboarders. So much fun to watch! There was a nice playground and concession stand as well as bathrooms with places to change and showers to wash off the sand. We did have to pay for a day pass, but it was well worth the money, even though we only stayed for about 4 hours!
Jodi S — Google review
Beautiful beach ran by the city. It was fun to walk along and enjoy. Since this is run by the city, they charge you $15 to get into it. Luckily since we went during the week it was not crowded at all. The facilities at the beach were fairly clean.

Cozy, classy, with a little bit of everything for the home chef or aspiring gourmand. If Ina Garten stopped in Saugatuck, this is where she'd shop. My fiancé and I were staying in an air bnb next to the store and ran into some hiccups with parking. The owner saw me outside and immediately offered to help resolve the issue by offering for one of his employees to move their car so we could park near our rental. He wasn’t even our host and still went above and beyond to help ensure two strangers got to enjoy their special weekend. A much needed reminder of the kindness in the world.

Went here to pick up some pretzels for our 5 day stay in Saugatuck and walked out with more than just a bag of pretzels. Here was the damage: Hot sauce pretzel sticks, homemade tortilla chips, Chimi Changa salsa, The Butler's own habenero hot sauce, two different dip mixes to take home, caramels and some Michigan mints. They have a great selection of hot sauces, but I have to say, the habenero one tasted more like tabasco. There's lots of kitchen gadgets to look through. We were also offered a sample of vanilla coffee in the back. He was super nice and I regret not throwing a bag of those coffee grounds with my final purchase.

Awesome food and atmosphere. Slow service but still friendly. We had a bigger group and two dogs with us. They are dog friendly only on the 1st floor patio. They were kind enough to bring a dog bowl for water. Definitely coming back again. They were out of the two dishes we were excited about. Looking forward to next visit!

The food was really good here, everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed their meal. This place was very busy and we had to wait 45 minutes for a table, but it was worth the wait. The fried fish and fried chicken that we had were cooked in the same corn meal batter, which was so good. We will definitely return on our next trip to Saugatuck.

The BARge is a fantastic waterfront spot to enjoy food and drinks. The open-air first floor offers a breezy, laid-back atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxing outing. There's also a second-floor patio with great views, making it an ideal place to unwind and take in the scenery. The overall vibe is lively yet comfortable, and it's a great place to spend time with friends or just enjoy the water. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a scenic and enjoyable dining experience.

Food was pretty good although nothing special and a bit overpriced. I don’t recommend the alligator bites. Our server was very good but the fact we had 5 in our party seemed to throw them off for some reason. Outside bar that faces inside toward the tables has gotta go. It makes things a bit awkward if you’re seated at a table that bar is facing. You’re paying for the view and atmosphere so if you go in with that expectation and don’t mind paying the advertised prices then you won’t be disappointed.

The Saugatuck Chain Ferry, in operation since 1838, is the last hand-cranked ferry in the country. It spans the Kalamazoo River and provides a unique way to reach Oval Beach from downtown Saugatuck without using a car. The ferry operates from Memorial Day to Labor Day and offers a scenic journey across the river for a small fare.
This is a really convenient way of getting from one side of the Kalamazoo River to the other. It's only 3 dollars for adults, one way and a dollar for children. The two kids that took Us across have to crank a wheel that moves the Ferry on a chain from one side to the other. It's awesome to see. Try Em out.

If you're walking this is the quickest way to get to Mt. Baldhead. The pricing is okay but you have to pay again for your return trip. If you're going to Oval Beach I recommend driving.

The Mitten Brewing Company in Saugatuck, Mi, is a charming vintage baseball-style mini brewery that offers a unique selection of beers and gourmet pizzas. It's an ideal spot for gathering with friends and family. The outdoor seating area provides a cute setting to enjoy their excellent pizza, or you can take it to the nearby park by the river. This dog-friendly establishment offers a relaxed atmosphere and a variety of beer options, including the refreshing Mango Colada.
Got the pickle cheese bread which was great, so many pickles. Then we split the pizza flight- mediterranean, bee sting, brotherly love and bbq pork. Wow the pizza was spot on - chewy crust, great flavor - we couldn't decide which pizza was our favorite. Enjoyed the beer and sangria as well.

Here's the deal, folks. This staff is friendly and amazing. Also, That's one hell of a pretzel. I love pretzels, and it's top 5 in the nation. Order with Ranch, ask for three Ranches and thank me later. If you get the cheese, have it warmed. Delicious. Pizzas. Solid pizza situation. I recommend the meats and banana peppers. You can't go wrong. Sit on the patio. It's nice outside. After all, it's Michigan. Grab a picnic table, enjoy a local beer, get a pretzel and a pizza, and be grateful that you only spent under $100. Boom.

My husband and I visited here for dinner one night while on a weekend trip to Saugatuck. It was a great experience! My husband loved the two beers he had (one cider, and the peanut Cracker Jack porter). We also loved the pizza and cheesy bread. We had the curse of the goat and brick house bee sting pizzas. We got the pizza flight and split those two flavors. Drew was our server and he was extremely helpful and friendly. So glad we stopped in and wishing this restaurant the best!

Loved it. The beer was yummy. The pizza was out of this world. The huge soft pretzel was great. I’m not a fan of cold cheese dip but it was still tasty. The kids could run around outside and no one really cared. Only negative was that the bartender didn’t offer us a sampler platter (beer flight) or any bigger sizes for the social district. All in all great place, would return tomorrow. Recommend sending someone ahead of time to wait for a table! It was busy!!!

Fun spot to get some flights of beer. Great drafts, fun design inside, gorgeous patio and the friendliest staff here. The staff member who helped us order was patient, he asked us about our visit, chatted with us while we constructed our flights, he was super personable and fun, and that made the experience all the more memorable. We loved the beers and ciders we tried. I’d recommend you try their sangria and seltzer too. We didn’t try any food.

Mermaid Bar & Grill is a family-owned, full-service restaurant in Saugatuck that offers a casual dining experience with a primo waterfront spot on the Kalamazoo River. The eatery specializes in seafood and also offers some delicious red meat options. With patio seating overlooking passing boats, it's the perfect place to enjoy fresh fish, coconut shrimp, mussels, and an amazing piece of fresh walleye while soaking up the riverside atmosphere.
We stopped here for lunch because they allowed dogs. We ate outside under an umbrella. Everything we ordered was very good from the clam chowder to the fish and chips and jambalaya. Big portions. The restaurant was pretty busy but we got our food at a decent time. Would definitely come back.

My visit to the Mermaid Bar and Grill in Saugatuck, MI, was a memorable experience. The location itself is fantastic, with a beautiful marina, boardwalk, and a stunning sunset view that adds to the charm of the place. However, I was a bit disappointed with the limited fish options on the menu, and my initial choice of halibut was unavailable. This happened again with my second choice. However, the server recommended the fresh cod fish, which I usually don't prefer, but it turned out to be exceptionally fresh and delicious. What truly impressed me was the server's friendly attitude, explaining that they prioritize serving only fresh fish, even if it means running out of certain options. I wholeheartedly agree with this approach. To start, we had the Calamari, which was cooked to perfection, and the drinks, while enjoyable, were on the pricier side. However, the dessert, the pumpkin cheesecake, was a delightful way to end the meal. Overall, the Mermaid Bar and Grill offers a great atmosphere, and their commitment to serving fresh seafood makes it a worthwhile dining destination.

I took my daughter there to celebrate her birthday. Last year we had excellent food & service. We thought we’d try it again. What a price hike and disappointing meals. We waited extra long for our meals and were told it was taking longer because they were training a new cook. We were OK with that but when our food came out, we were quite surprised they were basic meals and certainly should not have taken as long as I did. However, my veggie bowl was extremely greasy and small. Our crudite was old veggies, some sort of soggy cauliflower in the hummus had oil poured over it. My daughters jerk chicken was very overpriced and they used canned pineapple. Our server was sweet and uncomfortable when she came up to the table and told us they were training a new cook. However, we tipped her very well for her time and service. Not sure if we will give this place another try or suggest it to anyone. Very overpriced and unappealing food.

Mermaid is all outdoor seating at the moment which was great, because we got a table by the water. The service was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. The food is over-priced but good. We paid as much for an appetizer as we did for an entre. It's nice to try once, but I wouldn't come back, because it's over-priced for what you get.

The calamari and mermaid roll was excellent! Lot of good seafood options. Very friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Perfect spot for a girls night. Long wait times in the weekend but worth it if you plan ahead, put your name in the waitlist and go for a stroll around town until your table's ready.

The Mermaid was recommended to us, and we're thrilled that we decided to stop in. We had lunch, lunch, and dinner here the past 30-hours. The outdoor dining is incredible - right along the Kalamazoo River in the sun and with a great breeze. The cocktails are delicious, and the best one - the Rum Runner - is half off during their happy hour. The blackberry brandy is what makes it so good. All of the food we had was good, but the standout for me was the Salmon BLT - I had it both days.

Due to social distancing requirements our whole party of 9 couldn’t sit together, which made things a little awkward. Our server also seemed overwhelmed by the amount of tables she had to service on top of our large party being split up among 3 different tables. The food is great though! The pot of gold appetizer was really tasty. We wish the coconut shrimp came with a fruitier dipping sauce, instead of just the standard cocktail sauce. We had the catch of the day (monk fish) and it was really tasty! Great views right by the water.

Came here for lunch in June. Riverfront seating is what drew us here. Service was good, food well-prepared, but a little overpriced. Ceviche was 'ok', and somewhat bland- but mahi mahi tacos, and fish & chips were done well and tasty.

Baldy's Smoked Meats is a top-notch establishment for those who appreciate the art of smoking meats. Not only do they excel in smoked meats, but their side dishes are also exceptional, particularly their cheesy potatoes and mac & cheese. Even children can't resist their delectable offerings. Prior to visiting the restaurant, some reviews mentioned that the chicken appeared red due to the smoking process, which distinguishes it from oven or grill-prepared meat.
I got the 3 meat combo with pulled pork, brisket, and some amazing burnt ends. Wish they had a veggie side option to lighten it a little (even just corn), but overall really liked and would go back again. I ordered lunch for takeout on a Friday and it was not busy.

Absolute best smoked meats! If you know smoked meats then this is your place to come. The side dishes are out of this world as well don’t forget the cheesy potatoes and mac & cheese! My 10-year-old daughter couldn’t get enough! I saw the reviews before we came here and it showed red color on the chicken. That just means good smoked meats it looks different than oven prepared or grill prepared meat. I wouldn’t be afraid to bring my family here every time we come to the area.

I was very excited about visiting a highly rated smokehouse in Michigan on my way to the tulip festival in Holland. The customer service here was top-notch, however, customer service does not compensate for poor quality barbecue. I ordered their family meal for 8 people, which is quite a bit of food. Unfortunately, most of that food was inedible, which was unfortunate because I’d spent over $100 at this place. I’ll start with the positive — the sausage was well-seasoned and very good. The quality of the sides were mid-range. We had baked beans, macaroni and cheese, pickles, “elotes” which is just corn-slaw. None of these sides were smoked. The macaroni and cheese was very basic white cheddar with no nuance in flavor, no bacon, no bread crumbs. The pickles were great, spicy and sweet. The opportunities for improvement — The North Carolina Vinegar Sauce was very watery. The pulled pork was so dry and lacked any sort of smoke ring. I understand the purpose of not overcooking the pork butt to leave some bite, but there were like whole muscle groups stuck together that peeled apart like wood fiber. The chicken quarters had a nice smoky scent, but that fooled me as the skin was quite rubbery. I bit into the a breast and wing quarter, the breast was VERY dry and the wing was undercooked. As I moved toward the center of the meat this gross raw chicken scent become more apparent. To be clear, we had 8 chicken quarters, none of which were edible because every single quarter looked like the attached image. Yes, this is a photo of Baldy’s chicken quarter. I didn’t purchase the brisket because I saw some slices they were serving to other customers and, again, there was no smoke ring. All-in-all, I’m convinced this is not a smokehouse. Given that it has a 4.3 average rating as of today on Google, I’m concerned that the people of Michigan don’t know what smoked meat is, the quality has tanked over the years, or the reviews are fraudulent. I would likely not choose to eat here again.

I'm not even much of a meat eater, but this place is wonderful. I had the brisket and pulled pork plate with the cole slaw (unique and delicious) and the cheesy potatoes. Even the bread is not your standard piece of white bread. I'll be back, and my dog will be extra happy!

I think I caught them when they were first opening which is always a hit-or-miss situation. But, my brisket and bbq beans were out of sight. I'd go back again and see how they're progressing. Great location in downtown.

Baldy’s has a very cool space and the workers were pleasant, glad that we were finally able to stop in. Brisket seemed a little dry and the elote corn on the taco was cold which I wasn’t excepting. The Mac and cheese was good but nothing special. Overall my experience was fine, but I was expecting more.

This neighborhood restaurant offers a diverse menu of American cuisine with local flavors, including dishes like fried lake perch, Western burger made with Angus beef, and tempting desserts such as key lime pie and chocolate brownie. Best restaurant in Saugatuck! Not on the water, but a good view of the water if you sit outside (along with good people watching). Food is quality and delicious. And staff are super friendly and helpful. Grilled chicken sandwich was tasty and not dry. Pasta was delicious. And sweet potato fries were outstanding. We'll definitely be back.

Wicks Park Bar and Grill has a fun, relaxed atmosphere and is a great spot to hang out for a casual meal. Our waitress, Noel, was absolutely awesome—friendly, attentive, and on top of everything. She really made the experience enjoyable. The seating was surprisingly comfy, which made it easy to kick back and stay a while. As for the food, it was decent—nothing bad, but nothing particularly memorable either. Solid bar fare with a few bright spots, but it didn’t quite knock our socks off. Still, the service and vibe more than made up for it. Great place for drinks with friends or a laid-back lunch. We’d definitely come back, especially if Noel’s working again! 4 stars for great service and comfort.

Came to the restaurant with an appetite, was disappointed with my sandwich, I ordered a french dip the meat was unfortunately unseasoned but worse the dip was missing seasoning. I don’t think it had any salt :( my girlfriend had fish tacos and they where great! Good service for how busy it was.

We visited early ish on a Friday, and they had the outdoor seating we wanted. I believe Morgan was our server, and she was very attentive, and answered our questions. Our food came out pretty quickly, and though I was a bit overwhelmed at the size of my dish, it was all very well prepared. Flaky fish, and plump shrimp. Definitely handy to where we were staying, and the water. We enjoyed ourselves!

Great place and great atmosphere, friendly staff! We dine in on 5 July 2024 as we wanted to see the fireworks. Recommended mom and brother to come here due to the first 2 visit that we had our lunch at here was great! We understood that night was busy and crowded. We put in reservation and waited for about 30 minutes to get a table. Ordered our food and waited for another 40 minutes to arrive. To our disappointment, the hamburger that we ordered were much smaller although the waitress ensured that it was the same size. Half pounder felt like quarter pounder. If you refer to the last 4 pictures from our past visit. We gonna try another time and see what happens, we don't want to give up yet.

I ordered the mac and cheese with the crispy chicken strip on top. Expensive but very very delicious. The wife ordered the French dip sandwich minus the cheese. The meat was very flavorful and still moist. Even though it was shaved. The OSU was tasty. The bread was crispy and yet still soft. We also got a pizza to go. Cheese only looks delicious. Smells delicious. They use just mozzarella which is perfect. Housemaid sauce. I got a chocolate martini little heavy on the vodka but tasted great. The wife got Trainwreck which has a house made rum punch in it. She loved it. Overall, this place is expensive in comparison to typical restaurants outside of the tourist area. But very typical pricing for this area which is a more touristy area. We spent about $90 with another $20 for tip. So about $110 bill for two meals, two drinks and a pizza to go.

Loved this little coffee shop. We had drinks and snacks each day for our Valentine's weekend. Service and drinks were good. I loved the uncommon lemonade. It was different each time, and that made it better. There isn't much room inside to sit down, but if you get a seat, it is a great atmosphere.

At this point I have a photo album in my phone dedicated solely to Uncommon. These folks are actually craftspeople, the quality is insane! I have no idea how they do it, but this is actually the BEST shop I've ever been to in my life. But the drinks and food are only half of it, the other part goes to the staff and atmosphere. There's not a single coffee shop I've been to that has this high of a level of connection between pretty much everyone. The baristas and staff are always so happy and willing to chat it up, and this seems to seep into the community of folks that stop in from Saugatuck or surrounding areas, whether they're seasoned regulars or new visitors. I really believe the world needs more spaces like this, coffee shop or otherwise. Uncommon is such a treat, and I'm so grateful I live close enough to visit so often 💖 also, huge shout-out to Jenna for her suggestion on those charcoal tablets, homegirl saved my stomach!

A must-try spot to grab a cup of coffee in the morning! Just be aware that there will almost always be a long line to wait, especially during the peak season. I don’t mind the wait, but we saw a few folks get out of line because they were so annoyed. Coffee is a reasonable price, the breakfast sandwiches are pretty overpriced, though. $12 for a breakfast sandwich is wild. We particularly appreciated the discounted baked goods (50% off of baked goods from the day prior).

The drinks were all spot on, the service was super friendly (even at the crack of dawn), the baked goods and Sandwhiches were fresh and amazing. The branding on their coffee bags is sick. Gladly brought a few home for family to enjoy. Thanks to their team for making our trip so great. There was a particular staff member who also works at the book store - shoutout to them for being stellar at their job. Can't wait to go back!

Nestled in the heart of downtown Saugatuck, Saugatuck Gallery has been a prominent figure in the realm of home decor for over three decades. Boasting an extensive collection of over 1,000 oil paintings and a wide array of frames, this gallery is a haven for art enthusiasts.
Had a great day in Saugatuck today and visited some of the shops and seen some amazing art. Saugatuck Gallery really made an impression with me. The work here is amazing I loved it and would love to have some of my work displayed here. It was mostly paintings but I think my drawings could compete if given the chance. Thanks to everyone here who has viewed them. You guys are all amazing and this place is worth the time if you get that way. The town is beautiful the people are great and there's plenty to see and do. So take a day and check it out you won't be disappointed.

This store pretends that it’s a gallery and that it’s going out of business. However, I walked in a quickly found a piece of art I got from TJ Maxx for a fraction of the cost compared to what was being sold there. I paid $30 for my version and he was selling it for around $250 in his store. Do not support this gallery or this man.
Kara W — Google review
I bought a watercolor painting for $30 here, and then read the reviews. I went to Hobby Lobby’s website and saw my exact piece on there for $21.99! Haha! The only difference is that mine has a signature on the bottom. Ahhh. So wild! It’s a brilliant business model. He told me he gets the pieces from Chicago which is very deceptive. Had he not lied and said that to my face, then I would have given it 5/5 for brilliant marketing.
Rebecca K — Google review
These are clearly prints with embellishments that are sold at box stores at 10% what this store marks them. One of our party found an exact match painting she had purchased at TJ Maxx for $30 - this store had it marked at $295. The “going out for business” signs are permanent and not real; they’ve been up for years based off other reviews. The guy behind the counter proudly told us they are all original oil paintings. They are very clearly NOT. Don’t get ripped off!
Heather H — Google review
This “gallery” is a scam, buyer beware. They buy art from Hobby Lobby and mark up the price 4x the original price. The sign out front “everything 70% off” alluded to the store going out of business. But it’s a marketing ploy to drive in business. When my friends and I found out they resell Hobby Lobby art, we were extremely insulted. The owner even went as far as telling us he recently visited Chicago to acquire new pieces. Don’t shop here and don’t support this scam of a “gallery”.
Sara S — Google review
Owner was making passive aggressive comments about bringing our coffee into the store, however no signs were posted to not bring food/drinks in there. Instead of confronting us or asking us nicely, she continued to say rude comments about us out loud to herself and roll her eyes. Come to find out it’s not even a real gallery???
Jillian C — Google review
Went in there was in there for literally 2 seconds encountered the rudest lady at the register that never said hi by the way and just a heads up they always have their 50% off 75% off all the time you're not missing nothing there wannabe gallery 🤦🏽‍♀️
A — Google review
SCAM ALERT! 😂 I fell for it but didn’t spend much. Marketing tactics are misleading. Art is mass produced with misleading/scam signatures. (The signatures make me want to give it 1 star and 5 stars at the same time.😜🙄) If you google the signature on a piece, you may think it is genuine, the seller does a fantastic job with artists who make pieces similar to the hobby lobby painting you purchase. Example I purchased a cheap little butterfly with a signature from an artist who makes little butterfly artwork. Prices are on point for mass produced art. You get what you pay for. Brilliant business model. 5 Stars. ⭐️ I mean, who looks up reviews for an art gallery prior to making a purchase!? I fell for it- mostly because I was there at the end of the tourist season so the sale seemed legit to me. Edit: The funniest part about my experience is the amount of time that the cashier spent writing down the details, as if the art was actually a piece she had to provide tracking to the artist for. 🤣😂 People behind me waited quite a while.

Good Goods is a small art gallery established in 1989 by Sandra Randolph, located in a historic Italianate building. It offers a carefully curated selection of unique handmade items that are not your typical tourist souvenirs. The shop features decorative and lasting pieces that spark conversations and memories, with most items being one-of-a-kind. Despite being somewhat pricey, the inventory is considered well-priced for its uniqueness and handmade quality. Visitors often find treasures within their budget and appreciate the helpful staff.
Very interesting arts. Bought a heron statute , wire legs and head with stone body for the front yard.

It's pricey, but a lot of the items are really nice and made by artists. Don't recommend special ordering though. We asked them to special order a tile for us, they gave us the sheet showing the artist's offerings and the customer service seemed really great at first. We circled the one we wanted. About 2 weeks later, my husband got a VM saying it had come in, and that they would hold it until the end of the business day, 6pm only. He wasn't able to check his VM until after work, works until 5:30 and we live almost 3 hours away, not to mention the one they said they got in wasn't the one we ordered. If they don't have what you want, I recommend just trying to contact the artist via their own website.

Goodgoods is my happy place! Over the years, I have purchased dozens of paintings, sculptures, and other pieces from them. There is always something new to discover, and the staff are exceptionally helpful and kind. I feel like all of their inventory is well priced especially when you consider it’s uniqueness and handmade nature. I am not wealthy by any stretch of the imagination, but I always manage to find a treasure that is within my budget on every visit. Keep up the great work, and I hope to visit again soon!

This shop in downtown Saugatuck offers a lot of gorgeous art pieces, including sculptures, ceramics, paintings, and more. My favorite item was a painting of a cow with deeply soulful eyes by Christine Marcus Stone. I also loved the uniquely curved, colorful shelves by Dust Furniture. This is a fun place to look around, with a lot of treasures in stock. I'll be sure to return during future visits to the Saugatuck area.

Very nice gallery / store. I love the selection of the artwork. I love the fact that that the Art I looked at was locally made. Some reviews mentioned the artwork as pricey, but in my humble opinion, it is priced correctly for one of a kind works of art at this level. Some Art gallery's tend to make me feel a little uncomfortable, but this place has a laid back vibe. Highly recommended to check this place out when in Saugatuck. Tom Freier Designs.

Some really interesting stuff. Things you won't find at other shops. It is certainly not another souvenir shop but rises above to present well curated selections of items that are more decorative and lasting than typical shore side stores. The items do not scream vacation or location purchase but will trigger conversations about the item and bring back memories. Expensive but not outrageous, you are getting mostly unique and one of a kinditems. We bought something and would look again.

Our favorite curated art gift shop ANYWHERE! Many MI specific items and also many other high quality, handmade pieces for special gifting no matter it's destination. Good Good always surprises and amazes!

Great martini. My fiance had the dragons milk old fashioned. Kept saying, it's really really good. Stop in if you get the chance. Worth the visit.

Just stopped into the New Holland Spirits tasting room in Saugatuck and had a fantastic experience. This spot is absolutely worth a visit if you’re anywhere near the area — especially if you’re into craft spirits or hard-to-find bourbons. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, and the staff behind the bar really know their stuff. I had a few pours of their higher-end bourbons — things you can’t just find on a store shelf — and I was genuinely impressed. Deep flavor, good complexity, and clearly made with care. I also appreciated that they had several tasting-room-only bottles available. These aren’t widely distributed, so it was cool to get access to something exclusive. I ended up picking up two bottles of bourbon and a tasting glass as a souvenir. They even had a sign-up for their email list, which I joined on the spot — I want to make sure I get notified about future special releases or B Club offerings. The staff was friendly, the pours were generous, and overall the experience felt personalized without being pretentious. Whether you’re new to bourbon or a seasoned hunter, you’ll find something here that stands out. I’d definitely come back the next time we’re in Saugatuck. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in town — whether you’re looking to sip something special, grab a bottle to go, or just enjoy the laid-back tasting room vibe.

Fantastic creative craft cocktails along with traditional great old fashioned drinks. I ordered the cocktail flight- fantastic deal! Very cozy comfortable atmosphere to relax and unwind for good conversation and cheers! Thanks Beau for the recommendations and great cocktails- you were very helpful! P.S. the jazz music was a great touch that added to the vibe. Very welcoming and friendly!

New Holland Distilling in Saugatuck is a cool little spot that's definitely worth a visit. They offer a wide variety of creative cocktails, all featuring New Holland's own spirits. While they don’t have their beers on tap here, the focus on their spirits makes for a unique tasting experience. You can also purchase bottles to take home, which is a nice bonus. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the overall atmosphere even more enjoyable. Great place to stop in for a drink while exploring Saugatuck!

What a great little spot. We stopped in on a Wednesday afternoon and were the only people here. The bartender was nice and gave us a few other spots in the area that were worth visiting. We both ordered a cocktail and thought they were really good. I would recommend stopping in here as there's some creative cocktails on the list and there is probably something for everything, including NA drinks. We would have loved to sit and try a few more, but we still had quite a bit of driving ahead of us, so that wasn't in the cards.
C R — Google review
After coming from a terrible dinner, we saw this place and thought, let's get a drink and it looked really cool! The bartender was great, he made me a rum punch that was not on the menu and my husband got the Painkiller. Both were delicious!! Mine was the pink drink. Very friendly and a great find! Thanks for salvaging our evening.
Ernesto N — Google review
I’m past years we’ve taken our two little dogs and sat on the patio (actually two tables in the street). Was ordering two cocktails this year and the bartender told us they don’t allow dogs in the patio. He offered that drinks could be ordered to go. I didn’t want to walk and drink a cocktail. That’s fine. I respect rules. I would suggest that the new no pet policy be posted. We are last year in Holland at the brewery on the patio and dogs were allowed. Great cocktails. They just didn’t get our business today.
Roy J — Google review
Excellent cocktails and a pretty good selection. I believe there were 16 - 20 different concoctions to choose from when I went. Their liquor is bottled as well so you can buy some to go. Staff is friendly. Little bit of a wait for the drink when ordered, but that is because of the care they take in making them. Reasonably priced.

Amazwi Contemporary Art is a renowned African gallery in Saugatuck, showcasing contemporary art and artifacts from different parts of the African continent. Established in 2004, it amplifies the work of painters, sculptors, and craft people. The gallery is located in the heart of Saugatuck, a haven for artists and creatives. Visitors praise its well-designed shop with a wide variety of beautiful artwork to browse and purchase.
My family visited Saugatuck last week, and Amazwi was recommended by a friend. It was the first shop we visited on our trip and we loved it! There were so many different types of art, decorations, and handmade items. They were all so beautiful. The associate that was working was so helpful as well.
Alex R — Google review
There are several art galleries in Saugatuck as well as Douglas, but most sell prints and studio art. Some have some hand-made bowls and other items. However, nothing compares in my opinion to Amazwi. The quality of the curated items that Wally and Beth display is top-drawer. The depth of their collection is extensive and fills several rooms from floor to ceiling. I fell in love with this 6 foot six crocodile and just had to have it. It is from the ivory coast and is handmade. It’s absolutely beautiful and it’s the crowning touch to my Living room. I couldn’t be more pleased.
Bob O — Google review
Amazwi is a nice store with some very pretty art for sale. The prices seemed reasonable, and they had a nice assortment of different pieces. Some of the stonework and baskets were really beautiful, and the glasswork was also quite nice. They really pack a lot of art into a fairly small space. This gallery is definitely worth your time if you like art at all or especially if you have a specific interest in African art.

Had the chance to visit here and it's amazing. The art work is unique and eye catching. From sculptures to paintings and some beautiful drawings done in ink. The ladies there were very courteous and helpful and made you feel welcome. It's definitely worth visiting especially if your looking for something unique. Diana and Mike talk very highly of your work and I know I would be honored if I some of my work was worthy enough to be displayed in your store.

We visited last summer and bought this piece that hangs in our dining room. We loved their service and selection. Wally's Bar & Grill is a popular hangout in the heart of Saugatuck, known for its relaxed atmosphere and delicious comfort food. Established in 1996, this casual pub offers familiar grub and draft brews, making it a favorite spot for locals and visitors alike. The dive-like environment is clean and organized, with random decor on the walls adding to its charm.
My wife had a Burger and Onion Rings, they were both excellent. I had the wet burrito, I was disappointed. The burrito sauce or tomato sauce just did not have any flavor. I heard the perch platter was excellent. We will go back for sure.Sports Bar atmosphere, and some outdoor tables a plus for me.

Small but very fun vibe inside. Cool and interesting decor. The food is great too. The club sandwich and a grilled chicken sandwich are both awesome. They have extremely crunchy chips. The owner is very friendly. Great stop!

Don't go here please read. We're here visiting on vacation & stop by Wallys for lunch. We sat outside & it was a beautiful sunny day. We adjusted the umbrella over the table as to block to sun & one of the employees charged the table aggressively & said we couldn't adjust the umbrella per the owner. What happened to good customer service?? When we said we didn't want to sit in full sun she said, byyyeee, just bad customer service but, we found the Butler restaurant that was amazing!! Great food & great customer service. Avoid Wallys go to the Butler instead!!

Exploring Saugatuck for the day and we wanted to get lunch before the heavy crowds. Great location in Saugatuck near Kalamazoo Lake. Inside and outside seating near the lake on Water Street. Extremely friendly and efficient bar and wait staff. We were able to get seating outside and our drinks and food order came quickly. The food and appetizers were above average. We just loved the location, the service and the atmosphere. Great place to have drinks and food in Saugatuck.

GROW Café + Bistro is a trendy and vibrant restaurant known for its ever-changing menus of elevated American cuisine. The bistro offers sidewalk seating, creating a relaxed atmosphere for diners. Additionally, the establishment is home to The Trap, a weekend-only Mediterranean restaurant with progressive values. Despite opening during the pandemic, it has quickly become a local favorite.
This restaurant is absolutely amazing. If you are in the area and want a great breakfast, swing by here!!! The service was top notch, their selection is unique and delicious with a wonderful presentation. Their coffee is from the local coffee shop (uncommon coffee). Their prices are higher but reasonable since they pay their worker's a living wage and provide great quality in their craft. I will visit this establishment every time I am in town. This place is truly outstanding.

Let's start by saying quickly, best place I have ever eaten, I rarely am impressed as much as I was here. The food was amazing, the coffee was great, very friendly and fast service. This is the place if you want farm to table food that is incredible. We felt like we were at home, Matthew our server was great, quick to make sure we had everything we needed. We had the pleasure of meeting both owners, Alec was super nice and we had a great conversation about the food plus his wife Lindsay is the chef. My wife doesn't eat beets (until this meal, so now we are going to try and make them like we had them in the dishwasher I had), but her and I shared 2 dishes, I ordered the vegetables + eggs, my wife ordered loaded potatoes bravas I will say the portions were great, we were full and still left some on the plate. Truthfully we both ate a little more then we should have, but the food was so flavorful. I can't say enough about this place and the people who represent it. Definitely a place to go you will not be disappointed. More likely amazed at the delicious food and all around great service.

GROW offers both a gluten-free and celiac menu. Ask for the gluten-free menu when you check in. We ate at GROW three times during our 3-day stay in Saugatuck, for both breakfast and lunch. We tried different options each time, the gluten-free and celiac menu was so extensive. In fact, we both ordered different dishes so that we could share and have the opportunity to try more menu items. The menu reflects seasonal vegetable and fruit options, your wait person will review those options and other specials with you. GROW is a gratuity-free restaurant, so the prices reflect that intention, to provide a living wage and demonetize hospitality. The service was exceptional.

This was one of the best breakfasts, ever. It was so difficult to choose because everything sounded amazing. When you can make breakfast good taste amazing and unique with so many flavor explosions, I'm impressed. The Bloody Mary was also awesome. Everything can be made vegan, too.

GROW Cafe and Bistro was our lunch stop while visiting Saugatuck and what a great choice we made. The menu was eclectic and interesting and my only problem was that I wanted to try everything! I settled on the chicken salad sandwich and it was the best chicken salad I’ve ever tasted. The light dressing that was on the greens was to die for, too. My husband had the Belgian waffle and the locally sourced yogurt and jam it was served with put it over the top. Add to all of this the cute atmosphere and fantastic service and you can’t go wrong making this place one of your stops while in Saugatuck!

The Waypoint, formerly the Redwood Drive-In, is now owned by fisherman Mike Peel and his wife. Kalico Kitchen specializes in homestyle food with a southern touch.
First, I would like to say I had some of the best bartenders I have had in many years. I spent a Friday evening here bar hopping. In all 3 bars here, the staff went far above the normal call of duty, all extremely friendly and efficient. I also had dinner here the next day and the chicken marsala was good.

Great place to sit on the deck out back and take in the water view, watching the boats come in and out. Beer was cold and they were dog friendly on the patio. Ordered whitefish and was good while wife ordered the walleye. The brussel sprouts were cooked well with a hint of sweetness. Also the potato's where great too.

It’s a massive eating and entertainment establishment that also owns boats parked in marina for rental. On a beautiful day there is so much seating both indoors and out. I had coconut shrimp appetizer-prepared PERFECTLY, crunchy, light coating, steaming hot and perfectly cooked shrimp, with sweet chili sauce for dipping. Good sweet potato waffle fries! My husband enjoyed his fried perch sandwich and delicious homemade chips. Live singer on bar-side balcony—good vibes!

Fantastic place to eat, food came out very quickly, Nolan was a great server and I have no complaints. I got the Ribeye which was terrific, the only thing was the cheese on top was a bit confusing with the flavor of the steak but the au gratin was AMAZING and the Brussels sprouts were also very good. The appetizers we got were superb as well, I ate most of what was at the table and it was sooooo good. Everything came out super fast, and Nolan was very helpful.

My soon to be daughter in law had her Bachlorette party there and we met a young man named Noah who was the bartender leuring us in with what they had to offer! After he told the ladies they had techno, rap and a few other options he didn’t hesitate to look at me and let me know they had throw backs as well!! 🤣 Boy did I have fun with him after that!! We all did! He was a great sport, super attentive, made us some great drinks and after good recommendations! We also met a young lady who was more than accommodating when we complained how miserably hot it was! She went right in and grabbed us a small fan and came and plugged it in for us!! I would give this place a 💯 just based on the service they provide!! Great job Noah!! And I believe Abby? I’m sad we didn’t get a picture with Noah to relive our memories for years to come!

This cozy downtown spot is perfect for casual meals with friends and family. The menu features an array of pizzas, wraps, boneless wings, and rich ravioli. Customers appreciate the professional and accommodating service, making it an ideal option for those seeking delivery to unique locations.
My friend and I enjoyed pizza for dinner here. The staff was very friendly and offered plenty of suggestions, and the interior had a warm, casual atmosphere. The pizza itself had a fairly thin crust with just the right texture, and the toppings were fresh and plentiful. I ordered the 16” taco pizza, and I had easily enough for three meals. I’d definitely recommend their pizza any day.

We stopped in for lunch and were surprised by how quiet it was. Our family (5 people) enjoyed Scooter's food and a break from the bustling downtown Saugatuck. My only feedback/suggestions would be to add a kids' menu. Our kids would have ordered from it. The ambience and the giant ravioli appetizer (pictured) were great.

We went here on the recommendation of friends and were surprised to see lots of empty tables on a Friday evening. Decided to try it anyway and were glad we did! We just got pizza and a bottle of wine but the pizza was fantastic! Better than other places in town. The service from Anna was great. She and the hostess (I'm sorry- I didn't get her name) were super friendly. I'm glad they're open year round because we'll be back to try the subs.

Decent pizza. Good mozzarella sticks. We came late in the evening on July 3rd but it didn’t seem busy inside. How, it took them a couple minutes to even greet us or acknowledge we were there. They seemed confused or else very busy with maybe online orders to worry about dine in people. When we finally did sit down, the food was pretty tasty. Nothing stellar but, was fine for a quick pizza joint. Location was great, just across from the park and docks so you could see the boats and stuff.

Very nice place to grab lunch or dinner. The wife and I decided to spend a night in Saugatuck. She has her spring break this week so we thought it would be fun to get a night away It's kinda weird being here in early March. Saugatuck is mostly empty now. But it's also kind of cool. Scooters had only 2 tables with other customers and they both left before we did. We got to talk to one of the owners for a bit, which was great. Also the food was really good. I had the Scooters sub and my wife had tomato-Basil soup and mozzarella sticks. Good stuff and a really nice place
