Best pizza we've had in a long long time. We got the deluxe, loaded with toppings, cooked just right, the crust was perfect too!

We had a wonderful meal at JJ's in Alpena tonight. It was really good. Our server was fantastic! Super friendly, didnt miss anything. The entire experience was great. Zero complaints. All of us loved our choices. Spaghetti, Chicken Alfredo, BLT & Fries, Cod dinner, Caesar salad, French Dip, Ragoon Rolls & Onion Rings. Phenomenal ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The owner/manager (Im assumming) came by and asked us how things were just as my nephew was saying he felt fat like Santa because he ate so much. LOL When we went to pay our bill, our server told us it had been paid by Santa. Our entire meal. 2 appetizers 5 meals 3 sodas! We assume it was the nice owner/manager. Either way it was a very awesome & generous surprise. Only to be topped by hearing other customers having the same experience around us. Santa paid for everyone's bill/tabs! Whoever you are THANK YOU. You brought me to tears. What a kind thing to do. We will pay it forward. Brightest Blessings 💜

The Cod and New York strip were delicious, so were the breaded mushrooms. Fun on the beach drink was very good. 🍹

Very awesome restaurant. Great service and great food. The interior has some taxidermied animals to look at. My nieces were in awe and wanted me to look at them all the time. It was my 2nd visit and I would definitely go again.

Aug 2025 Good service, quick to get us a drink. A decent beer selection. Ordered a chicken bacon ranch pizza which didn't take long to come out, was very good and hot, but the crust was unpleasantly chewy. All in all we are pleased with our meal and left full. About $5 each for the beers, $18 for the pizza.

Our group of 32 stopped here for a quick lunch and we were happy with the decision. The food was very good, the staff was outstanding, and pricing was reasonable. These folks are excellent to work with and we will definitely stop here in the future!

My husband and I took the 9am shipwreck tour on the second Saturday in Sept that only had 16 passengers, holds 80ish. Despite the sunny morning and calm water, the fog crept up on us while heading out after trying to view the shamrock shipwreck. The captain made the right decision to turn around and head back to shore. We were able to get a full refund. Nice little boat ride with some good pictures. Great information, great crew. The museum is free, but you pay for the cruise, which is done inside the gift shop or online.

We went out during relatively calm weather in July and clearly saw two shipwrecks, but the last two in the "boneyard" were barely visible. It was neat, but we didn't feel the experience matched the cost. Nearly $100 for two adults. The "glass bottom boat" is basically a ferry boat with three porthole windows in two wells on the bottom which leaves limited viewing room and can cause some motion sickness. When the water was clear and still, the top deck actually had better viewing.

My husband and I took this tour while in the area for the long holiday weekend, and the tour was not sold out - plenty of room! We learned a lot of information from our tour guide when we could actually hear her (it’s loud on the boat). The Captain was very genial and kind. We had one young guy who was new, and he struggled to communicate with the Captain over the radio to position the boat well over the shipwrecks without a lot of back and forth, resulting in several kiddos getting seasick and making me a little nauseous during that part. He was new, though, so we know he’s still learning! We only were able to see two wrecks due to murky water at one spot. It wasn’t as exciting as I thought it would be, but it wasn’t a terrible way to spend an afternoon on a boat! It was most enjoyable sitting at the stern of the boat when in motion. There are bathrooms onboard. Definitely be sure to switch between the lower deck and top deck at each wreck- you see more sometimes from above! If you do not own polarized sunglasses, I highly recommend them for this trip so you can see better through the water. If you have very young children, be advised: it’s a long trip to be stuck on a boat, and it’s not very thrilling for little kids. If you have an antsy kid like my youngest, I wouldn’t recommend it.

My new white pants were ruined. I sat in the back of the boat with others on a red cushioned bench seat. Unbeknownst to me and another lady the water as coming up through the red bench cushion where we sat. No clue where this water originated from. Did not realize we were soaked until we stood up. I was appalled and uncomfortable. I’m soaking them and as of now the stain has not come out. I left 2 messages when I got back to where we are staying. I should have shown this to the staff as I exited the boat but that didn’t occur to me because I was upset and uncomfortable. A sign indicating to passengers the cushion will be wet so sit at your own risk should have been there. 😩. The staff were nice and the person giving the narrative was very good. All of history was interesting.

People with RVs like I have can safely park in the parking lot across the street (turn left if you're facing the entrance to the building and it's on your immediate left) without having issues with space or turning around. I can't wait to go back and do this again! Fun for all ages and enough to keep the kids busy while you wait for the tour! DON'T BE LATE. Above and Below deck patrons take turns in viewing thru the bottom of the boat. Bring sunscreen if you choose to start up top.

Awesome museum and immersive shipwreck experience! The loud storm sounds and flashing lights for lightning can be a lot for a child. Suggest they offer sensory-free times each hour to go through the ship. The staff were super nice. Especially Courtney who helped my 7 year-old grandson by offering to turn off the storm so we could go through the ship when we went back again before closing. She also loaned him a flashlight and climbed up and helped him see where to go in the dark playscape (that’s supposed to look like they are diving underwater). He liked the museum so much he wanted to go back again the next day! (45 minutes each way from our campground). We went back and enjoyed some additional things we didn’t see before; like the living roof. Really cool!

I visited the center as the MATEROV World Championship 2025 was hosted here. Inside the center, we got to visit various maritime history of the Alpena, Michigan. From digital maritime devices to the ancient ones, we saw each of them (images attached). The center has also a shop to buy souvenirs related to the marine beauty and history. The staff were super nice and it is open 7 days a week! Definitely recommend everyone to go there!

200+ shipwrecks in Thunder Bay. Maritime Heritage honors those lost with exhibits and much more. It may be possible to dock in front. Worth checking out.

Excellent and informative museum. Entry is donation based, so bring some cash when you visit. Expect to spend around an hour to see everything.

Really enjoyed this museum. Read every plaque and learned about the different ships that sunk. Highly recommend

Awesome way to spend a few hours seeing a little of the history of the great lakes. The gift shop is awesome too.

We went to this free museum on a friend's recommendation. It was very interesting and a good place for kids to explore also.

I love everything about this place. The atmosphere, the vibe and especially the food and wait staff. All of the ingredients were very flavorful and fresh. The building has a sports bar in the back, a wine bar on the opposite side of the building and the restaurant where we ate. Something for everyone, I highly recommend stopping in.

Good healthy food. Lots of choices from meat to Vegan. Nice staff. Can watch the cooks in the kitchen. Many beer on draft choices also. Indoor and outdoor seating... huge open wall makes Indoor feel like outdoor when nice weather.

It's an awesome place to check out. Very big on recycling. Right down to paper straws! No waste! The menu is intriguing with LOTS of options and various items to create your own or try one of theirs. Friendly atmosphere. Enjoyable place to eat. Plus plenty of alcohol and beer options! My favorite was the outside wall with the 3D water scene.

Great food, unique in interesting ways. My husband had a build-your-own burger with a veggie portobello burger and I had the grass fed beef Island Bum, minus the jalapeños but with added roasted beets. I loved all the extra veggies you could get as sides or toppings. So much I wanted to try! Had a Chocolate Covered Cherry Stout - delicious. Chocolate Lava cake and their special of the day, pumpkin roll for dessert. Very good.

Excellent menu choices and wonderful staff made for a great evening. (Rachel was awesome) We had a flight of beer, some wine and 4 different tiny plates.

Excellent flavor. Very friendly service. We had the steak medallions and pesto marinara ravioli. Had a soup to start - sweet corn beef and noodles soup made with rice noodles. Excellent. Great beer selection and decent wine choices (ordered a bottle of French Bordeaux). Ingredients were very fresh and flavorful.

It's been a few years since I've eaten here. They have seriously stepped up their service and food. Rachel, our waitress, definitely 5 stars! My pizza tonight was AMAZING and the sweet pepper soup was one of the best soups I've had in a long time! The Fresh Palate is definitely going on our regular restaurant list now!

This place used to be better, but I think they've become lacking in some areas as they've gained massive popularity and so they don't try as hard anymore. The service is really lacking; most employees are not very friendly. It is consistently a very long wait for any food item to be made. Very disappointed that they got rid of soup and paninis. The interior is quite run-down. They took away the original booths, and have very uncomfortable wooden seating throughout. It's just not very inviting anymore, and I'll be going to 2nd Ave Coffee from now on.

I got the pretzel turkey blt. Not bad on taste but the sandwich is way to tiny for it to be priced at 14.50? Like I honestly laughed at how tiny it is. Pretty sad to not be able to get full for 15 bucks. Won't see me get this place again. Not for these prices and to leave still hungry...........

Great coffee shop. Friendly service. Came to Alpena for the weekend to see the sights! Started the morning here with a coconut latte. My wife ordered a peanut butter cup iced coffee. Highly recommend 💚💯💯

Very clean park. It has a playground, tennis courts, outdoor amphitheater and our favorite a pier. It’s a very beautiful place to enjoy nature and just go for a relaxing walk. I highly recommend visiting. Beautiful view of Lake Huron.

Nice boardwalk area. Love the view. A great place to take a walk, listen to some music, relax.

Lovely walkway to view the lake and lighthouses. We watched a cruise ship anchor and its tender come into port.

Super beautiful and peaceful here. Came here around 7ish before the sun set, it wasn't crowded at all and we were able to sit on the rocks right above the water and admire its beauty. We walked the pier next to the marina afterwards, which had a few interesting signs about the history of the area. Worth going to for a quick little walk and beautiful scenery

I love taking my dog Gracie for walks in this park. She enjoys letting loose & chasing the Canadian geese. I only moved to Alpena a week ago, so I didn't get to take advantage of the music in the park this past summer. I am greatly looking forward to music in the park next year! They have such a beautiful stage and it's right overlooking Thunder Bay in Lake Huron❣️

Outstanding place to eat! I highly recommend eating here, if you are in the area. We went on a Friday evening in August. It was busy. We sat at the bar until our table was ready. Service and atmosphere were great! I had the Pimento Cheese Burger with Truffle Fries. Both were outstanding. My wife got a salad and the Brussel Chips. Again, outstanding! Warning, everything had a little bit of a kick (spicy), but was great!

Very delicious food, and the service was great, tried brussel & flow first, it was amazing, it's only the crispies from brussels and chili flakes gave it just the right amount of heat with the parm, definitely recommend for anyone who fights to get those crispy pieces, no fighting to get some here. My husband had the peanut butter jelly time sandwich and truffle fries, he said it was very good and would definitely get it again, he said it was just the right amount of sweet and the peanut butter was some of the best he's had in a long time and really wants a container of that for home, I had the seafood mac&cheese and i have to say it was perfect, we will definitely be back when we come to this region again, and definitely recommend to anyone in the area who hasn't been here yet,, (I have provided updated menus as of 2/22/25)

We had the crab ragoon flat bread, steak and seafood mac. It was very good. Had a few drinks, you can't go wrong with the smoked cherry coke. Great atmosphere, clean and good service. We visit family in Alpena a few times a year and always try something different. Red Brick is our new favorite. We will be back.

The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and service was swift and attentive. Makenna, our server, was fantastic—friendly, knowledgeable, and on top of everything. I started with the Peach Bees Knees cocktail, made with gin, a peach liqueur, and honey simple syrup. It was absolute perfection. The gin’s strong bite was hidden under a perfectly balanced mix of flavors—neither too sweet nor too strong. I enjoyed it so much that I drank it quicker than expected and wanted to order a second, but our meals arrived so promptly that I decided to hold off (I personally prefer not to drink cocktails alongside my entrée). For our appetizer, my friend and I shared the Ahi Tuna Nachos. The freshness of the tuna surprised me, especially considering we weren’t near the coast. Served on large, crisp wonton chips and topped with avocado, cucumber, and a sweet soy glaze, each bite was flavorful and satisfying. The chips were quite large—about the size of my hand—which made them a bit tricky to eat gracefully. When they broke apart, I happily switched to using a fork. Despite the minor messiness, this is a dish I’d order again every time. For my entrée, I chose the Garlic Soy Salmon served over noodles. While the menu listed udon noodles, they were actually thinner ramen-style noodles. Initially, I was a little disappointed—but that feeling vanished as soon as I tasted them. They were flavorful and cooked perfectly. The salmon itself was fully cooked (not medium or medium-well as I usually prefer), but it was incredibly tender and melt-in-your-mouth soft. I’m still wondering if it was steamed—it was that good. I will say—I think the only thing that could improve is having traditional udon noodles in the meal! (The only reason I rated the food 4-Star is because the menu was a tad misleading about the noodles.) To end the meal, I ordered the Chocolate Bomb—a rich chocolate cake layered with chocolate ganache and paired with fresh berries. It was decadent and left me wanting just one more bite. I also stole a couple of bites from my friend’s cannolis, which had a whipped filling that was light, smooth, and perfectly sweet. Overall, I’m impressed with this restaurant. This was actually my second visit in the same week, and both times were equally enjoyable. It’s safe to say I’ll be coming back again.

Gluten Free is 🔥The gluten-free options at this restaurant are exceptional. If gluten-free wasn’t marked on the menu, you’d never guess the food was gluten-free. The attention to detail in each dish is remarkable, demonstrating the staff’s expertise and commitment to quality. The unique drinks are also a standout feature. It’s impressive to find such high-caliber dining in a Northern town—who would have thought you’d need to head up North for great food! I can’t recommend it enough.

Absolutely garbage. Stopped in because the place we wanted to go was closing soon. I got a burger that tasted like char. No other flavors to be found. When I brought it to the attention of our server he just said the burgers are usually good. Gave me a discount of half off my meal that I took 3 bites of. I won't be back ever. Service was slow as can be and it wasn't busy. Do better. And do yourself a favor, support one of the many other establishments within walking distance. Do not go here. Oh and having tap in your name, with what... 7 beers on draft? How embarrassing.

Best restaurant in Alpena. They have all kinds of food and everything is fantastic. They change their menu while keeping the staples. Food options for everyone with great vegetarian and pescatarian items. The drink menu is great with friendly bartenders.

​My first visit to Downtown Scoops Ice Cream Shoppe was an absolute delight! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, especially since it was my first time. They gave me a fantastic recommendation: the Amaretto Cherry Moose Tracks ice cream in a homemade waffle cone. The flavor was a perfect choice and the cone was delicious. I had a wonderful experience thanks to their great suggestion and amazing service.

Scoops is always a must visit spot in Alpena with our family! We have been coming for years and our boys consider this “our spot” in town. It is located on a corner in the lovely downtown Alpena district. There’s indoor and outdoor seating to enjoy. Don’t let a line deter you- it moves quickly!

It was great to see a small business still going. We had a great experience. The best pizza I had in a long time. Sure miss the days when there were more one man shops like that. If I visit Alpena again I'll be back to this great shop.

The food was excellent and the service was even better. We had a couple pizzas the whole family loved them, and we had some picky eaters. The ranch and sauce we great and the ingredients were fresh, I really enjoyed the mild peppers.The kids devoured the chocolate chip cookie dessert.

Little place right on main. It got 4.8 stars when we visited, but earned 5 stars for staff and food! Had meat lovers pizza, chicken Alfredo and mozzarella cheese sticks. The pizza was great. Crisp and light end crust, fresh toppings and fresh cheese. Great pizza. The mozzarella sticks are homemade! Breaded and uses the same fresh mozzarella cheese Tried my sons chicken Alfredo and it was delicious. He ate every bite. Staff was friendly and accommodating. They were busy with takeout orders, but made sure we were happy. We are from out of town and found a great place to eat. I am sure whatever we ordered would have been great. 5-stars!

All we can say is this place is excellent! We visited Alpena for our 50th wedding anniversary and found this little gem to eat at. Jenni greeted us as soon as we walked in the door and she is so friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. We had a pizza and it was amazing! Two days later we went back and I had the spaghetti and my wife had lasagna....again AMAZING food! Charlie, one of the chefs, came out and asked if we were pleased with our meals, which we were very pleased. I can't wait to go back someday!

Made a motorcycle lunch run to The Black Sheep. We kicked out of with a Scotch egg and pretzel bites. I had prime dip sandwich with fries. The wife had a Blacksheep Burger. All were very good. Seems like a local hang out with lots of locals coming in for lunch and to visit. Very friendly and homey feeling. Sometimes the locals visiting with the staff asked them down a bit but not a big problem in my opinion. I would recommend checking it out if you're in the area. PS forgot to snap a pic of the Scotch egg.

Thus was first visit to Black Sheep. My meal was very good. Hadxthe Shepards Pie which was very good and flavorful. Here they use beef in place of lamb. Also had the sampler appetizer was contained all types of deep fried goodness.

Stopped in at The Black Sheep Pub while visiting Alpena. The area had just gone through an ice storm and extended power outage, so the menu was understandably limited. Still, the place had a warm, local vibe—you could tell by the regulars at the bar that it’s a neighborhood favorite. We tried the slider (which surprisingly only comes with one), fish and chips, and chili. The slider was tasty, the fish was lightly battered and absolutely delicious, and the chili was okay.

My husband and I dined here while we were in the area on vacation. I specifically went here for the fish because a lot of people say it's the best. They were out of the sandwich that my husband wanted so he didn't end up ordering anything and we just shared a combo appetizer and my fish dinner. The combo appetizer was good but one of the chicken fingers was raw in the middle after my husband took a bite of it. The fish was good but not what I expected for everyone saying it was the best. It had a light batter and the taste was good. It just wasn't what I was expecting.

A great little up north Pub. We had a great sandwich and a cold beverage. We shopped at the downtown shops and we made a few purchases followed by lunch. A favorite spot. Great service and be sure to try the chip dip!

I had the Dreadnought fish sandwich and it was delicious! Fries were crispy and tasty and the coleslaw was good too. I love that they dip their own fish, no slabs out of a box!

Used the pavilion for a hockey team dinner. Easy access to nearby restaurants. Nice splash pad and beach area. Restrooms 🚻 are on site as well.

This is a great place to stop for lunch or a breat between jobs or just to get a great view of our beautiful sun rising. Very clean and well taken care of park.

This is the most amazing beach to take the kids to! So clean, plenty of space, splash pad, playground, clean restrooms, covered picnic tables, free to use sand toys, plenty of trash cans, everything you could need!

Beach seems unkept this year. They are doing construction on the water treatment plant and the bigger part of the beach is completely closed. The splash pad is up and running and seems like a good time. No volleyball and no skate park.

August 2023 - came here after lunch at Pompeyos. Nice playground. There is a splash pad. The park is right by this beautiful beach. They do have a public bathroom.

My friend and I came for our first night in town dinner. Ordered the Salted Carmel drink which was amazing. Had fried mozzarella sticks as an appetizer which were hot, meaty, and the best I've ever had. I ordered the baked mac n cheese which was delicious. My friend ordered the blackened perch and baked potato which she said was also delicious.

Although it is rated as being only a Four star Establishment in this review, please be aware that is only because the kitchen was closed when I arrived and has been unable to try the cuisine offered here!¡! Service and Atmosphere both receive Five stars and the food will receive a rating once I get to sample the menu. Big Ups and a huge Thank you for the courtesy provided by all of staff met this evening. As an update to the previous review, the food was better than I ever expected and has definitely earned a Five Star review 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Always delectable dinners (sublime desserts, too!) Very generous portions! Great service! We're never rushed, which is good because this is our "special occasion" dining place. So it's very nice to relax and enjoy our dinners. We always liked Dakota as our server, but John, who took over his position, was equally wonderful and made our family evening a fine experience. First time here. Loved the food! Husband had a Lasagna ,authentic. My walleye was perfect and those fingerling potatoes,wow. Our waitress Melody did a fine job. Very attentive to our needs! We will be back.

I really enjoyed the old school ambience, and the food was excellent. I had dinner at the bar because it was only me. I was disappointed that I was not offered the famous bread basket, but I would not have been able to eat much of it anyway, because the dinner portions were huge. And no, I did not get a chance to ask for it because the staff seemed a bit too busy to answer my questions. I particularly appreciated the high-quality of wines on the wine list. The menu is excellent for variety. The quality of the fish I got was outstanding. The only way dinner could have been better is if the portion of fish was half the size and a local vegetable was served with it. I am sad that I did not have room for one of the desserts listed on the dessert menu because they all sounded amazing. If I ever get back to this sweet little town, I will probably have dinner here again.

Came here for my husband and I's honeymoon dinner and was pleasantly surprised by the exquisite atmosphere, food, and service. The perch and spinach artichoke dip are the best I've ever had from anywhere! Even the garlic bread brought to the table had real garlic butter on it and was the best. I would come back to Alpena for just this restaurant alone.

I had a terrific salad here with grilled salmon on top. The food coming out of the kitchen all looked really good. The place was packed with locals who obviously know it is a good deal. Noise level is a bit high because of the crowds.

Ok folks all I can say about this place is it's FAR OUT MAN! Gonna add a plug here for my nieces tattoo shop, the Lucky rabbit tattoo in Alpena because of it wasn't for going there to get my first tat (I'm 60) I would have never got to check this cool place out. What a great experience they both were. They're both true artists. My wife had the Boss Hog bowl and I the Tony Burrone burrito. Too many ingredients to list but I will say this the way they rocked it out was nothing less than groovy!! Just check out the photos. First time and not my last time eating there. I'm from the down state and was looking for a local place to eat and came across the hungry hippie. I ordered the backyard bbq bowl, and it was amazing. The service was top notch from when I walked in till I left. The atmosphere was awesome. I love to hippie vibe it had going for it. When back up this way, I will definitely go again.

I love Hungry Hippie! The food is always fresh and full of flavor. The Bubble Tea is delicious. Service is topnotch! This place is a local gem! Rockin' Roll Teriyaki Bowl w/xtra avocado & strawberry/pomegranate bubble tea is my go-to! I love this place!

I’ve been wanting to try this place for so long and today I saw the special posted, the Pierogies, I asked my husband to stop and get it since he was up there. He brought it all the way back to Barton City where I warmed it and it was still outstanding!!! Well done. I knew I was going to love these flavor combos. Can’t wait to try everything else.

The service was great and the large box is large, I got the back yard BBQ and it was really good and a good bang for your buck. Bubble tea wasn’t sweet enough for me, but popping bubbles were good.

Cute little walk up, with a seperate place out back that's enclosed to eat or a few picnic tables outside. Fast service. The best damn nachos I've had in forever or maybe even my life. Was feeling adventurous and tried something new and it was totally worth it. I also got a pineapple smoothie and it was really good as well. Super friendly staff, and good service. Busy during lunch hours, decent amount a parking.

This is a natural gem, right inside Alpena City limits. Hiking and biking trails. No motorized vehicles. Plenty of wildlife to be seen and places to explore. I come here year round.

Perfect place to have a moments of peace and tranquility, whether walking on the trails or kayaking.

Its is absolutely beautiful walking the trails thought out the different seasons. The wildlife is so vast we've seen everything from toads, squirrels, deer,fish and birds. It's amazing just being able to let my son pick out which way he wants to walk and its different every time

Nice area to explore by foot or paddle around for a couple of hours. Kayak launch available for public use and you can rent one there. You can paddle around island and in nearby area but don’t bother going down the river towards Thunder Bay, access is blocked off at 9th street damn, forcing you to paddle back upstream. If the winds are high this can get really annoying. A lot of natural growth in the water to kayak around, not really ideal for swimming anywhere. We saw a few birds, turtles, a very large snapping turtle. The walk around island is nice and mostly shaded, stairs and slight inclines.

This is a hidden gem in Alpena. There is ample parking and it’s located right at the edge of town. The bridge is very picturesque and people will fish there or off the platforms on the island. In the summer there are kayak rentals and a portable bathroom. The island has beautiful birch trees, sand, and views of Alpena. The walking trails have some stairs, but there are trails for wheelchairs and strollers. Check it out!

This is such a beautiful sanctuary. I could easily lose hours here exploring. There is kayak rental and a launch to depart from, if you enjoy that sort of thing. The sound of traffic was negligible, if noticeable. There were plenty of flowers towards the beginning which gave opportunity to observe some insects.

We were there in August 2022 and really enjoyed it. Then we went again in August 2025 and were very disappointed. The main trail for accessibility is not very well kept, there are lots of trees and branches that have fallen down quite some time ago along the side of the trail.. The trails with chips or sand are some what over grown. There is a sign about ticks and I saw some poison ivy along the trails. You can't get lost it is very small but a little bit of signage to point people in the right direction could be helpful. And many reviews have said that.

My husband and I drove here to go fishing early morning during labor day weekend. It was nice and quiet. The water was shallow so we only got bluegills. At night there's no lights and you can hear some movement in the woods it can be pretty daunting. All in all, it's a nice place to hang out for a few hours.

Island Park in Alpena is an absolute sanctuary! Tucked away in the middle of the city, this place feels like a true escape from the world. You cross over the beautiful wooden covered bridge, and it's like you've entered a different realm. The trails are incredibly well-maintained and offer a perfect, peaceful stroll. We loved walking the loop and taking in the beautiful scenery of the Thunder Bay River. The different ecosystems on the island are so cool to see—from the little sand dunes to the marshy areas, it's a a small slice of wilderness right in town. It's clear the city and local volunteers put a lot of care into this park. We saw so many different birds and even some turtles. It's the ideal spot for a quiet walk, some birdwatching, or just sitting on a bench and enjoying the peace and quiet. A must-visit if you're in Alpena!

Just happen to be passing through for work and saw the sign outside talking about their bratwurst. Decided to stop in and grab a bite before I hit the road and I'm glad I did! So good that before I pulled out of the parking lot I ran back in and grabbed a package of brats to bring home! Definitely worth stopping in if you happen to be in the area.

Spouse and I frequent Alpena, Mi for out of the way gems. Nowicki's is on the absolute short-list of faves. We have eaten on-site (safe, highly informal, hygenic and very reasonable, though small daily menu). Small and large dining areas. Purchased many meat-based brats, sausages, pickled products, etc. Superb, Old World quality in their products. Totally non-corporate! Absolutely earth-rooted staff (approachable, hospitable, informative & yes, at least in my experience, fun folk). Upper body promotional garments, ice cream and a very clean, modest environment. Impeccably clean restrooms! No fritzy, illuminated signage, adequate parking, ground floor access. Deer Hunters note: They offer zero rough processing of game but welcome the clean, no-hair boned meat to create their quality product offerings....again, note that their seasoning vastly differs from that of corporate wild game seasoning processors. Ponder Question: How many different flavors of cider mill donuts have you ever tasted....they are all the same! Nowicki craft is departure from that corporate venison seasoning crap!! Expect a near future personal processing review, specifically focusing on their venison game products within the before Nov 1, 2025. Adeiu!

Came in to get some of their delicious meats. We didn't have time to eat there but have before and I highly recommend. Great service. Nostalgic feel. Highly recommend.

At 11am, purchase a sausage in a bun. As I was assembling it, I thought the bun was hard, stale, and notice it was one of the last 2 in the package. However I continued and ate it out in my car. The sausage wasn't even warm, bun stale, a real disappointment. Word to the wise, don't go in early, what until they sell the leftovers from the previous day.

We went at lunchtime & it was crowded but the checkout line moved fast. Bought several flavors of brats for personal consumption. Homemade sausages, many flavors and a great selection. Slightly higher priced but worth it for the quality & freshness of the products.

We got two packages from the freezer to cook at home. Both transported and cooked the same way/day. The jalapeño cheddar were delicious and had good snap. The garlic dill were soft and mealy. Neither of us cared for them. It wasn’t just one… they all turned out the same way. Not sure what was wrong with them. Violent food poisoning following.

Out-of-towner here. I came in for the jerky/landjaeger and stayed for a brat. When I came into the store, I noticed that they had brats and a toppings station available. I tried out the potato brat, and it was 'fire.' I wish I had more time up there to try out more of the brats. The only downside was that I came in on a Sunday afternoon, and the town was a ghost town. If the store and town where more lively, I can only imagine it would have added to the atmosphere of this place.

Hit or miss last time I was there my pizza was half crust have toppings with barely any cheese My spinach cheese bread had maybe four pieces of spinach and a sprinkle of cheese and the price for a specialty pizza and the stuffed bread isnt cheap

We don’t normally order from Doninos much at all but decided that tonight we wanted some pizza and wings and when we got the food home, the pizza had been almost burnt, the one order of wings wasn’t what we ordered at all, it was like some popcorn chicken and a bunch of small pieces at that, then the other order of wings were supposed to have sauce on it and instead came plain without any sauce at all. So I called the restaurant to speak to a manager about how we weren’t happy with our entire order and she apologized and helped make things right. Super nice lady and she gave awesome customer service. We plan to give the place another shot and hope for the best.

They are so rude to customers here. Stopped taking orders 15 min before close. Yelled at a customer for asking for something too quietly. Slamming things around. Awful customer service. I understand if you are busy but that is never ok. The guy working was nice but the 2 females were not very kind or patient. Will not return.

This place is awesome! I go here almost everyday and enjoy seeing Lilly and Cora working. They are the sweetest people and make this dominoes such a great place to eat and hangout at.

I tried their "New York" style pizza. The crust was super thin and kind of "soggy". Very flimsy. Granted, I don't know exactly what a "New York" style pizza is supposed to look like.

The pizza was delicious but the time was off by 15-20 minutes. We had to wait that much longer.

A friend ordered pizza. 2 hours later we were both sick to our stomachs. I quit ordering from this place because the same thing happened to me last year. Terrible food. 🤢

I called and during the very beginning of that call I asked them if they gave veterans a discount and the female employee said they did and I informed her that I was a veteran. So I safely assumed she would apply that discount to my order. Order arrived to my home and I asked the driver did they apply my discount and he said no. I called Mancino’s and the female person who answered the phone transferred me to another man after hearing of my complaint/concern. That person told me to wait after hearing my complaint and than he hung up on me! What an ignorant and unprofessional thing to do to a customer! He also stated that the female employee denied me ever asking for a discount. All I wanted was for my 10% off credit placed on a future order. I guess that concept was too hard for him to comprehend. His lack of professional manners coupled with his ignorant attitude/actions towards military veterans is totally unexcusable! I will never place an order there ever again. They lost more future revenue from me than what a 10% discount would have cost them. And to top it off there food did not even taste that great!

Driving thru the area on vacation. I haven't had a Mancinos grinder in years. This place did not disappoint! Even better than I remember! I had 8 in Italian! Yum yum gimme sum!

I stopped in yesterday and ordered a seafood grinder no onions and no cheese. I also ordered a personal pizza the Hawaiian with 1/2 the Cheese I have purchased from them before and was very happy. The seafood grinder was burnt, no mayo no lettuce no tomato The pizza, needed a magnifying glass to see the cheese. People make mistakes so I went back today and spoke with the manager, showed him a picture of the grinder and brought back the pizza. His response was, so you’re not happy. He defended his staff and offered me a new grinder and $1 credit. I would never have posted this, but he made me feel like I was the problem. This is not good customer service. My new grinder came with cheese on it, but I just peeled it off and enjoyed it.

The grinder (steak and cheese) was just so-so. Too much lettuce not enough steak, mushroom, onion, and cheese. Disappointing. The Greek salad was good though. Could have used two cups of dressing.

My son and I are in Alpena for one evening and wanted something local for dinner. Tried Mancinos and loved the food - but the service was incredible. We were waiting in the lobby for our pizza (which was very fast) and we were treated exceptionally well by the manager while waiting! Thank you for your kindness & service!

Ordered a 16 inch veggie pick up (take out) and the price came to $21.50. The ordering process on line was easy. However, the location didn’t have the right change to give to me. The pizza was ready on time, but the crust was way too soft. The pizza was just okay.

Got take-out pizza today and half of it was gone before I thought to take a picture. It was absolutely perfect. Quick service, always hot, delicious food, served with a smile. Won't be disappointed by a trip here. The kids pasta is so good, they barely had any left on the plate! Delicious as always!

The worst pizza we've ever had. Overcooked, no sauce, cheese broke apart into weird chunks, tons of burnt Italian seasoning on top, and an off flavor. Dissected the pizza to see what the off taste was, and still couldn't figure it out. It tasted off with just the bread, but the flavor was in the cheese too, maybe the cooking oil is bad? We order this regularly with extra sauce so its not bone dry along with wings and they even managed to make the wings bad. We only ordered 8 and one was just a tiny bit of breading, but still counted as a wing. For what they charge per wing they should have given us 8 actual wings. The fact that we order extra sauce to make something edible is nuts and for it to still be this bad is pretty remarkable. We won't be ordering anything there again, very dissapointed, no one that grabbed a slice finished one slice and I'm throwing out over half a pizza, what a waste of money and food. Please do better Pizza Hut, you messed up pizza and wings, it's literally what you're supposed to do best! This is the lowest level of what you have to get right.

First time in the Alpena Pizza Hut. Loved it! Celebrated my son's birthday. Food was great and very filling. Our table had 3 personal pizzas (3 toppings) and a trip to the salad bar. Also had 2 melts (meat lovers and ckn bacon ranch with thin crusts) and came w/fries. Each of our item was $7.49. Fantastic prices! Also had a 8x8" warm brownie for dessert. Yummy! Our server, Jackie, was so sweet and very efficient and friendly. We are definitely going back!!

Whenever we're up in Alpena, Michigan, we always make it a point to hit up this pizza place multiple times! Their pizzas are seriously so good, and we can't get enough of them. The crust is perfect, and the toppings are always fresh and flavorful. Seriously, you won't regret trying this place out!

The price was very high. more than 18 dollars for one L Pizza was almost doubled the cost just to adding extra cheese to a veggie special. Also the little extra cheese sprincle on top my pizza was not cooked melted when i got home. I had to put it in the oven. Staff did not give me the total price on the phone when I ordered. And they don't get a receipt unless you ask for it. I will not fall for this trap ever again.

Tried along with Domino's Pizza. However liked the the little Caesars ones! Specially the cheese pizza. It had creamy vibe with nice smells. Just melts in your mouth. The tomato sauce along with it blended with cheese nicely.

Understaffed … drive thru is a disaster on Fridays and Saturdays. Pizza is mid but not worth waiting over a hour plus for . Ordered using the app , that seems pointless as the estimated time wasn’t even close . It’s been 15 minutes since receiving a text that pizza was done and still waiting . Cheap pizza , cheap service . Been like this every time we’ve come here . Got a refund and left . Was offered to call general Manager in the morning . Why is the general manager not there during the busiest time . Incompetent leadership , horrible franchise. Will never come back .

I went based on a recommendation from a friend. The beer was amazing and the food was also! We split an order of Poutine and it was maybe the best we've had. We will definitely be back again.

i go here pretty much every year when i come up to Alpena for our summer trip. i can’t legally drink yet so i can only say things about the food, which is very good. the food in the past has been a long wait, but today it was good. this time, i got the thai burger and it was delicious. however, it was kinda too much food, i couldn’t finish it, and there was so much meat on the thing that it fell apart when i picked it up and very messy. i like all the seating options with the cute places outside, the porch, and inside. today also there was a lot of commotion, an employee broke a glass and another fell. kinda funny but they should make it safer for employees. still, had a good time with my parents and cousin🙂

Great business model here!! $6 and less beers. We tried Cherry bomb, Northern Lights, Woody Wheat and Blood Brothers Orange. All were great!! Food was equally as delicious! Most expensive menu item was $18. Staff were friendly and accommodating! Great indoor and outdoor atmosphere ❤️ highly recommend!

We came here with high hopes. My husband is a big fan of their beers. The beers weren’t the problem. We sat in their outdoor screened seating. My husband moved his chair to a side where there wasn’t already a chair. This was to stay out of the sun that was shining through the plastic and to be next to me, so we could actually hear our conversation. When my husband went out to the car for something, a male employee came by and moved the chair back to its original position, incorrectly stating that his chair was too close to the table next to us. His chair was more than 3 feet from that table, as were all of the other chairs in our vicinity. We then got to enjoy the loud children’s show being played on the device at that table. Our female server was less than attentive. We attempted 5 times to flag her down for our bill, before she looked our way. My husband had to eventually go into the bar to get his card processed. It seems like a popular place, but we won’t be going back.

Had another amazing at Austin Brother's. This place has some of the best servers and best food, hands down. The staff put a cheesecake I forgot into the back for me to come back later come get. Shout out to Angel for doing that for me. Always a pleasure to come back to get their fall brews and for the special for the day.

Great venue to have in town! Love open skate on Saturday and that elders have a place to walk around in the winter. Modern and clean when we have visited. Go Alpena Hockey!

This is by far one of the very best ice rinks I've ever been to. It was very clean, organized. The only thing that I would suggest is hand rails for going up and down the bleachers. Oh and bring something soft to sit on 😀. Even the men's bathroom was very clean. For obvious reasons I didn't go into the women's bathroom 😂 But even with everything I've said I would love to come back here for games. They obviously invest the money made back into the rink. I wish also that they would play some music for the kids when they are playing in the tournaments. They have the speakers and everything for it.... But overall excellence experience so far.

Tremendous facility and great place for youth and skating in Alpena. Thanks to all the volunteers, and moms and dads. And what a great place to showcase our grandkids!

Super fun date night, we attended free open skate night, everyone wore masks, lots of little kids but it was fun!

Very clean, small restaurant. Everything on the menu looks good. Good food, great service! Chicken Schnitzel was very good. Burger was good. I really liked the waffle fries. My husband loved the dill pickle soup. We will definitely go back.

We went for an early anniversary dinner. My husband knew how much my Polish grandmother had an influence on my cooking and surprised me with dinner here. When we arrived there were 2 other tables seated. We placed our order and we waited....and waited......and waited.......3 refills of our drinks and Chris stopping saying ours is up next.....and waiting.......as all the other tables fill in and place their orders and then food starts coming out.....and we're waiting ......and waiting until finally. Why did we wait over 1 hour? Because we were invested in it at this point. My husband ordered Kielbasa and klushi and I had pierogi. He enjoyed the Kielbasa. I was pretty fond of mine as well. My suggestion is that if a dish is going to take over an hour to prepare, do so before you open and inform the guest it's a dish requiring an hour. Im disappointed in that part of the service, otherwise it was a pretty good experience.

My family was on vacation in Alpena, and we were looking for a local place with excellent Polish food. The Old Polish Corner did not disappoint! Most of the group got the traditional Polish dinner and loved it. My wife and I split the chicken schnitzel and pierogi dinners - absolutely amazing! We of course had to try the Polish sausage, which we found out came from Nowicki’s Sausage Shop (whose family also owns this restaurant). The smoked sausage was fantastic. All of the food was truly authentic and had so much flavor, we could tell it was made from scratch. The staff were very friendly and accommodated our large group (15 people) despite the restaurant being relatively small. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for tasty Polish food. Already planning on placing an order with Nowicki’s Sausage Shop!

This is one of those hidden gems in northern Michigan. It's as authentic as it gets. And we enjoyed listening to the Polka radio station too. It's impossible to leave here hungry. It's all so good.

The food was great and did not take long before we had our dinners. Our server Katherine was wonderful and quite funny. She helped us navigate the food menu and drink menu. The polish beers came right to us after ordering. We didn't know it, but we were given rolls as well while we waited for our food. My husband had the cabbage rolls and I ate about half of his plate. We will be back again, the food, the service, and the atmosphere were all around a great experience!

The food was great! The Atmosphere is fine. The staff is super nice. But... the wait for your food is atrocious. I recommend bringing an interesting friend and discussing, well, everything. Brought the family and we all agreed we should have brought a deck of cards. Seriously. That would have been fun. Especially a couple games of 500 Rummy. My Polish Grandmother used to play that all the time and it would have been fun to do while we waited no less than an hour for our food. All told, we invested 2+ hours there from the time we stepped in to the time we stepped out.

We went to the Park to play pickleball. The courts were in very nice condition. The other people playing were thoughtful and friendly.

The play yard could be updated and add a few more play items. Many base ball fields to choose from. Great for ball season. There are also basketball courts and tennis courts. The rental building needs some updates. Especially the restrooms. Having a kitchen was very convenient. They also supply some utensils and cookware, but be sure to bring your own.

There was a problem with my dad's order, but I loved mine and they replaced his with an upgraded order and didn't upcharge us despite me not expecting that and being beyond satisfied, including my father when he received the steak tacos. For a first time experience I was happy, salsa tasted rich and chips were fresh. Tough competition for any other places in town!

Just so-so for us. They were really busy on a Sunday when we were there. It took a while for someone to come to our table, but once they did, service was quick. Server was nice, atmosphere was nice and prices were good. Food was not great. My husbands order was supposed to be 2 eggs over easy but we’re scrambled with lots of butter. Fajita nachos were ok, not a very big portion and not as good as other places I’ve had from other places. They did let me get combo of steak and chicken which was nice. House lime margarita was ok and in special on Sunday ($5 for 12oz, $6.50 for 16). Didn’t taste the alcohol.

We have been here many many times, both for dine in and take out! I will say we have had a few minor issues when doing takeout, BUT the food was good! And that's what matters! We have tried so many different things, and have never been disappointed with the food! The atmosphere is great! The staff is always friendly! I gave 4 starts for atmosphere, because sometimes, the music in the restaurant is so loud it's hard to hear others talking at the table! BUT we love it still!

Visited Mangos for dinner recently with a party of four, arriving about an hour and a half before closing. We were seated quickly, which was great. Service was reasonable; I ordered the Birria Tacos (with beef) which came with Mexican rice. The dish was pretty good, with a decent amount of flavorful meat. My meal came out to about $16. We also appreciated the complimentary chips and salsa to start. If you're looking for a quick and satisfying Mexican dinner, Mangos is a good option.

An unusual rare 5-star rating from me. Enjoyed the outdoor setting, the visible murals, the unique lite marble bar, and yes the cuisine was delicious. We will be back.

This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in Alpena. No matter what time we come in here the food and drinks are delicious. I see there menu has now added many American foods. I have not tried any of them my son said there burger was really good. As always our food was top notch. We will be back as this is one of our favorite places to eat.

We went here while on vacation and the food was so good we ate there 2 days in a row!! Although what brought us back a second time was the service! The wait staff was so welcoming and honestly the best service I have had in a long time! They made my kiddo a hot coco that he still talks about. We had the giant cinnamon roll, breakfast pizza and the skillet all delicious! Highly recommend!

Wanted to stop at a mom & pop place. This place fits the bill. The gentleman took our order, brought our drinks and the burgers and onion rings were out less than 10 min later. The onion rings were on point! Crispy and delicious. The burgers were juicy and flavorful. Would recommend and will definitely be back. 😋

Great server and service. The food was quickly served and looked great. I had eggs Benedict while one companion had a single pancake (by request as the order is 2), and eggs alto accompany the pancake. Tastey. She recommended we visit Rockport for rock hunting and that was a great suggestion that we did follow up on and enjoyed thoroughly.

Visited here for a late breakfast on a Saturday morning. It's not a large place and it was busy but we were able to find a table immediately. Service was excellent, friendly, and fast. The food was made to order and came out steaming hot! Portions were quite generous at the price point and the food was GOOD!! If you stop in, do try the cinnamon toast. It is delicious! Don't be fooled by the small and dated look. This place is a gem! And if the parking in front is full, just drive around back...

First time here. The waitress was awesome. Friendly, courteous and prompt. I had a half order of biscuits and gravy with one egg and coffee. $14. That's a bit pricey in my book. I make much better at home. I sat at the counter by the front window and that area has a more than faint smell of urine to it.

As a mom from a major metropolitan area in Ohio, here’s my take: Delicious Diner food! The sausage patties are packed full of flavor and fat(the way a good sausage patty should be) Eggs cooked to perfection and above all, the lovely lady that served us was polite and gave great service! Thank you J Boys👏😀

Almost looks like someone bit my burger before me. But it was just ripped from bun. What’s wrong with the evening cashier? Is her head on right? Jesus, some professionalism would be nice from her or at least have her focus more on her job and less chatting with her colleagues.

Service is usually top notch. A great choice if you enjoy watered-down lemonade. Just make sure to ask for light ice 🤗

Although the chicken and beef are high priced, they taste delicious. My complaint is with their rewards system- having to renew my membership constantly caused me to lose points...and the receipt always has sandwiches for their deal making you purchase one to get one- why not just do freebe ice cream sundaes like before? I will protest and only stop when really needed.

Not all McDonald's are the same. This ones not a ten but not a 1 either. I'd rate it a 6 or 7. The Quarter pounder was a little dry but the fries were good. The Mcfish was good. Quarter pounders should never be dry. Bad management.

Quarter p. No bun, no cheese with a side of med. Extra crispy fry and a side of mac sauce. Total wait thirty minutes. Parked for 15 minutes, went around, and was told food was done. They couldn't find me in the parking area. I asked for a remake. Waited in line another 15 minutes, and I got a burger with cheese on the other side and the topping scraped off warm. It's very warm and mushy. 🤮 I'm assuming this was out of the trash. Shame on you.

Longest wait ALWAYS!!!! Employees aren't rude, they are just robots. (Exception of one lady that works 1st window in mornings... she's always pleasant) There won't be ANYONE in line and it still takes forever. Last time I was there it took 23 minutes to bring out my food and there wasn't ANYONE in store or drive-thru when I ordered. It was burgers and fries... nothing special or altered. I hate this location but its the closest one to me!

Morning shift is usually good but waiting 25 mins for 1 yes 1 cheese burger is not fast food like its already junk ... now if waiting restaurant time! Sad
