Royal Gorge Bridge & Park is a 360-acre amusement park located atop a canyon with one of the highest suspension bridges globally. The 1260ft-long bridge was constructed in 1929 across the 950ft-deep Royal Gorge, which stretches for 10 miles west of Canon City.
Although I am rating this place 5 stars, I want to put a note out there. There is not a "Bridge only" option. Basically if you want to go out to the bridge, you are paying for that and all but one of the rides they offer there. I think Ziplining is excluded. I paid $39 to just access the place, which I think is a little much. If it was $25 to just see the bridge, then fine, but whatever. The view looking out and down at the Gorge is so relaxing and breathtaking. On a warm day, the wind up there is very relaxing and you just want to close your eyes and take it all in. I shot pictures of the 12:30PM Royal Gorge train outbound from Canon City which is a 15 minute drive from town. Seen from the bridge, almost looking down is the Hanging Bridge on the railroad, which of course is seen better from the train itself (See my review on that).

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Royal Gorge. The children enjoyed the playground, and we all enjoyed taking the gondola ride across the canyon. There were quite a few people there on the day we visited, but the grounds are expensive enough that it did not feel very crowded. We decided to take in the raptor show, and we’re very glad we did. Everyone really enjoyed it, and we thought it was much better than the 20 minute film about the gorge itself. My wife and I even did the zip line, and wow, it is quite expensive, we really enjoyed it and would recommend it! The bridge itself is pretty amazing and just walking back across it was one of the highlights

What a breathtaking place! The Royal Gorge is absolutely stunning — photos don’t even begin to capture the beauty and the scale of it all. We loved walking across the bridge, taking in the mountain views, and feeling that Colorado breeze. The flags lining the bridge make it even more special — like a walk through history and pride! The park is spotless and well maintained, and there are so many fun spots to stop for photos (especially near the water wheel and signs — those are musts!). It’s one of those places that makes you stop and really take in how incredible nature is. Highly recommend visiting if you’re anywhere near Canon City — it’s worth every minute of the drive. Gorgeous weather, gorgeous views, and a memory we’ll never forget!

This is something everyone should put on their bucket list to see as it is truly amazing. We went early before it got windy and walked across the bridge. The scenery there is beautiful and the park itself is so nice and clean. We went on the gondola ride, saw the movie and a raptor show. Highly recommend.
Kristine S — Google review
An absolutely breathtaking experience from start to finish! The views of the Royal Gorge are stunning — truly one of the most spectacular places in Colorado. Walking across the bridge is both thrilling and peaceful at the same time, and the scenery below is something you’ll never forget. The park is very well maintained, with friendly staff who make you feel welcome and safe. The gondola ride gives you a whole new perspective of the canyon, and the zip line and sky coaster are a must if you’re up for an adrenaline rush! There are plenty of spots for photos, good food options, and areas to just relax and take in the view. Perfect for families, couples, or anyone wanting to experience one of Colorado’s most iconic attractions. Highly recommend spending a few hours here — it’s worth every minute! Walk the rim trail that's outside the park for some great photos
Mike H — Google review
The views are spectacular! The price for the tram is reasonable. For those that are not faint of heart there is a zip line to return you to the lodge side. But wait there is more. A giant swing will send you out to the edge of the gorge. The area is full of American history as well as fossils of ancient creatures. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Thomas W — Google review
The Royal Gorge was a fabulous experience. Riding the cable car across the gorge was the highlight for me. Walking the bridge isn’t too far either. Highly recommend both! My toddler loved that we could ride the carousel 10 times in a row. We enjoyed the playground and spent a little extra to let our kids mine for gems which was fun. We had a picnic lunch under one of the pavilions with our kids and after we ate at the BBQ place which had delicious cornbread. All in all, it’s a family-friendly atmosphere that allows you to slow down and enjoy the beauty of Colorado!
Alexi D — Google review
Great place, amazing views. Nice kids area. The free gondola ride across the Gorge was neat too. Only problem was we got fleeced for $10 and some change for the old West shooting range of which none of the features except two worked. Kids were disappointed with that.

An amazing work of engineering over a 1,000-foot-deep canyon. This is a must-visit site if you're touring central Colorado. I visited this first in the mid-80's and again with my family this past May. The staff were friendly and very informative. The view from the gondola and zip line were near breath taking. Don't miss this one!

Absolutely beautiful and stunning views. General admission is $32 includes the Gondola and a half hour documentary. The gondola ride was a little scary 1200 ft down lol but it was worth it. We walked from the other side to the bridge which was stunning. Saw a big horn sheep close up. Many other attractions like; skydiving, helicopter ride, jeep tours, zip lining.
Coach T — Google review
Highest bridge in the world for the longest time. Truly scenic and family friendly park with lots of history. Situated right outside Cañon City, you can also swing by Skyline Drive which is free to the public and has some great views and the road is a one way trip with self guided markers including a dinosaur fossil path. Cañon City is a small yet friendly town with decent eateries for all to enjoy.
F ( — Google review
Just a bridge built in 1929, amazing accomplishments then but nothing out of the ordinary to brave long drives just to view it. For the entrance fees of USD38, it's just not worth the trouble. The children's playground is nothing to should for either. Interesting bird show at the theater though for less money, better to visit Denver zoo.
Noobie M — Google review
There's lots to do and see here. Spectacular views of the gorge. We rode the Gondola across the gorge, then walked back. Mostly down hill, some steep. Several things to do and see walking back. Wear good shoes, sunscreen and a hat. They open at 10 AM. Arrive early, they are very busy as the day goes on.
David G — Google review
Gift shop had a good selection and nice people. The trails that lead away from the parking lot near the Gorge have a amazing view of the water streaming through the mountains. There is some incline and decline but for the scene your getting it's not to bad .

Had a blast i had family from Tennessee all the way from Florida that came out!! Great food court ! And if you get a chance too ride the royal gorge train do so!! Have fun!! I know my family did!! And they give free ride's over the bridge too !!
Rebecca M — Google review
The vistas are incredible. The gondola ride is short but quite enjoyable. The zip-lining is exhilarating and safe but barely worth the ridiculously high price. This place is NOT an all day adventure. I'd say do visit if you're open to paying high prices for admission and rides. Definitely grab some food BEFORE entering the park because they don't play around when charging for fast food. We visited late October on a Wednesday at noon and there was only a couple dozen people in the entire park, which definitely made it all the more enjoyable and safe, that said, several attractions were closed which made our visit very short and somewhat uneventful.

The Royal Gorge Dinosaur Experience is a captivating museum that offers an interactive and educational adventure for children. Opened in 2016, this attraction features life-size dinosaur exhibits, indoor displays, a theater, and a multistory ropes course. Visitors can explore genuine dinosaur fossils and lifelike animatronic dinosaurs while learning about the evolution of life on Earth. The knowledgeable staff provides engaging tours and activities for kids, making it an ideal destination for families and school groups.
We took a trip to Dinosaur Experience with a group of kids at my work and hosted our special event here. The staff members were so nice, excellent with kids and helpful! They were so accommodating to our group too. Even helped us with a cart move things to the conference room and even to the car! I was impressed! The experience, Every child loved it! Very interesting and entertaining! Colorado is so lucky to have such a fun and unique attraction for kids! Can’t wait to go back with my nephew and niece!

This is a great place to visit with the family. There are 5 total possible experiences you can pay, independently of each other. These include the ropes course, museum, children's lab, dinosaur walk and treasure excavation; unfortunately the ropes course was closed for the season, which is arguably the most enticing attraction.
Rider R — Google review
Such an awesome experience! We did the full experience including museum, dinosaur walk, ropes course, and dig pit. The ropes course was a lot of fun and allowed you to get up close to the life-size animatronic dinosaurs! We also enjoyed finding a variety of fossils, rocks, coral, etc. in the dig pit! The dinosaur walk was very educational and fun with the animatronic dinosaurs! I absolutely LOVED the museum as it had MANY different fossils and an interesting video on the history of fossil hunting. Everyone working there was friendly and helpful. Michael was very friendly and informative about the things we found in the dig pit! We had a great time and are looking forward to our next visit!
Sierra H — Google review
Fun little museum inside, while the walk is outside. You can pay for one of these experiences or both. I would recommend only the outside if your children are smaller and/or don't enjoy museums.....it was interesting, but when you have little that want to go you don't "get your money's worth" so to speak. The trail outside can be taken as many times as you wish, but keep in mind you will be in the sun without any shade to break in - though the trail is not long. Dino noises and movements are fun for littles as you walk the path and to my knowledge the dinosaurs are life sized......some of them could use a upgrade. Overall a fun family experience that you should consider checking out, if in the area enjoying over attractions.
JEC — Google review
We stopped for the ropes course and the teenagers had fun. It was around $15 each for that alone. Not busy at all. We visited on Sunday early afternoon
Suzie R — Google review
We took our kids and went with 4 buses full of kids from the school. The staff seemed very knowledgeable and answered all questions (even the silly ones) from the kiddos. The ropes course was fun for the bigger kids and the younger kids had fun on the course for tiny humans. Lots to look at on the walk and in the museum. There's a dig pit, picnic tables, restrooms, gift shop and a place to get drinks and snacks. If you are in the area or have a Dino fan, I would recommend going. Sorry I didn't post more pics, those were the only ones I have without kids in them.
Cassandra E — Google review
Awesome place for the entire family. Tons of activities for the kids, to include an inside tour of Dinosaur fossils, outdoor ropes course for kids and adults, and outdoor activities to include a fossil dig pit for the kids. Prices are fair, depending on the amount of activities you want to do. Large parking lot, snack bar inside, and great mountain views. Close to the Royal Gorge Bridge and awesome Whitewater Bar and Grill.
Rich S — Google review
A great place to visit with kids or adults that want to pretend to be kids. The gift shop selection and prices or better than some local businesses specializing in rocks, crystals, and fossils. The museum is somewhat small but interesting. The ropes course is a lot of fun but I would recommend bringing gloves to protect your hands in the case I slip or fall while holding some of the course ropes. The dinosaur nature walk is okay. The dinosaurs move a little and make noises when activated by nearby motion sensors but are dated and in need of some repair. We were impressed by the crystals and fossils. The highlight of the trip was certainly the rope course. The entry cost is based on what options a person chooses to partake in. The three main separate areas each have their own cost. The museum, they ropes course, and the nature dinosaur walk makeup the overall experience.

Arkansas River Tours - Royal Gorge Office offers an exceptional fishing experience along the Arkansas River, known for its Gold Metal waters and abundant rainbow and brown trout. With nearly sixty miles of public land along the river, there are ample opportunities for anglers to access prime fishing spots. The guided rafting trips provided by experienced guides like Austin and May offer a perfect introduction to families or first-timers looking to explore the Bighorn Sheep Canyon.
My experience with Arkansas River Tours was absolutely outstanding. From the moment I reached out to check availability and book my adventure, everything was smooth and clearly communicated. On the day of the activity, I arrived with plenty of time for the necessary preparations, and the entire team was incredibly supportive—especially for those of us trying this thrilling activity for the first time. All the equipment was in excellent condition, which made me feel very safe. The highlight of the day was our amazing guide, May—a young woman with the perfect balance of leadership and cheerfulness. She gave clear and precise instructions, essential for an outdoor activity that comes with its natural risks, all while keeping the energy light and fun. The rafting route was breathtaking, and I would do it a thousand times over.

We had a group of three that took the Royal Gorge tour and a group of six that took the Cottonwood Family float. We were treated great. The booking experience was smooth. The employees at both locations were very helpful when we arrived. Both Guides, Austin and Katharine were great! they each put in the effort to get to know us and made the trips very enjoyable. The Royal Gorge trip was more adventurous and Austin made the trip fun but I always felt that safety was first. For for the Cottonwood float we had a 6-year old and an adult with developmental disabilities. Katharine did a great job including them and making it fun for everyone. I would definitely book through ART again.

We had a great time with Arkansas River Tours! Our guide, Evan, was awesome, stayed calm and talked the group through everything. He pointed our wildlife & touched briefly on the history of the area. The rapids were fun and splashy and the scenery is beautiful. We'd love to return and do a full day rafting trip next time!

Fabulous rafting trip. Our guide Hales made it memorable. We did the 1/2 day out of salt lick. Given some of our crew were new to rafting this was a perfect trip for everyone. Highly recommended, we will be back’

Our guide, Billy was such a perfect fit for us! After a scheduling debacle, he was accommodating and so knowledgeable. We appreciated his sense of humor, conversation, tales of the river, and personality! Thank you for making such an amazing anniversary trip!

We had a wonderful time on the Cottonwood family float trip. Haley was an amazing, patient, funny, and accommodating guide. A few of us have health issues and she was easily able to adapt the trip to our needs. So happy we did this!! Fun was had by all!

My husband and I had the time of our lives! We booked same day so definitely last minute and were accommodated beautifully! Zach was our rafting guide and was an excellent instructor as well. We ended up on a “pool toy” 😂 not exactly sure what it’s really called but essentially a smaller raft and it was so thrilling! Zach guided us so well, easy to understand and super fun energy too. We 100% recommend and love supporting small businesses in wherever we go.
Emily V — Google review
My family of 5 had a great time with Billy, our guide. The tour company was through with the safety demonstrations and paddle techniques. The views at Royal Gorge were breathtaking. Billy gave us some history as we paddled down the river. What a wonderful way to see a different side of Colorado, don't miss it.

My Sisters Place is a cozy restaurant located near the Royal Gorge Bridge. The menu offers a variety of dishes, from smothered burritos to burgers and chicken sandwiches, all made to order. Despite some mixed experiences with service and food, many patrons enjoy the delicious meals and great service provided by the friendly staff. The outdoor deck provides a pleasant dining experience with amazing views of the surroundings.
The veggie omelette was amazing. Hashbrowns were awesome. The two employees made sure my dog had water and were very sweet. Fyi: cash only. ATM is on site, just in case.

This place is hit and miss, with some people loving the food, and some not. 5 different orders, 5 different thoughts. The burrito was OK, at best. The drink sizes were great, and the service was prompt. Overall, I doubt we'd come back, but if you're close by, drop by and see for yourself. I will say the brisket was overly salty tasting, and I'm far from a critic.

Cool little cozy restaurant on the corner of the main road and rod going to the Royal Gorge Bridge. I had ordered the Cowboy Steak Ribeye which was quite large, but asking for it to be cooked medium, I was delivered a steak that was well done and a bit dry, which disappointed me considering the $33 it cost me. The place filled up pretty quick and there was one server having to deal with six tables, which meant our service was quite slow. Other than that, not a bad place to eat, the waitress was very courteous, energetic, but a little overwhelmed. Thus the reason for the 4pt rating.

A nice place to stop for lunch when in town. I ordered the tacos. They were very good. I also was told there burritos were awesome. I saw a couple of people order them and they were as big as my head, so come hungry! There are some great views of the mountains from the windows

Really good place to eat, owner and waitress was really friendly. Pulled pork sandwich was awesome. They even had a table with a drinks and a flag folded in a triangle to honor our 13 fallen soldiers. God Bless them.

The menu offered everything from smothered burrito's and chili relleno's to burgers and chicken sandwiches. Everything is made to order which is a rarity around Canon City! The chicken strips are my go to with the housemade ranch ! Enjoyed the breakfast and weekend $5 Bloody's the next morning! Didn't disappoint at all and the view is amazing 😍

Everything was what I expected in a rural Colorado bar&grill. Country music, loud ppl, a image of John Wayne on the wall, and Fox News on the TV. My waitress was very attentive and looked after me quite well. Very good smothered burrito and salsa. The tortilla chips were paper thin if that suits you. I like the setting.

Although Ashley was very short-handed in staff, just her and the cook, she was great and prompt and really gave us great service. Kudos to Ashley for doing great in an adverse situation. The food was good and everybody enjoyed it and it was served on time, hot and fresh. Thanks Ashley you deserve a raise!

If you're looking for a delightful dining experience, look no further than 1887 Historic Eatery. This charming establishment offers not just delicious meals but also an inviting atmosphere that keeps guests coming back for more. Patrons rave about the superb service and friendly staff who go above and beyond to ensure a memorable visit. The menu may be small, but each dish is crafted with care, making every bite worth savoring.
True Colorado history here! This is a must see for any history buffs or long time local or Native Colorado residents. This beautifully restored hotel and restaurant took a long 7 years to complete but it's really exciting to finally see the finished product! My wife and I have been wanting for 7 years ironically to see what they would come up with and we were not disappointed in the least. From the beautiful lobby to the very fun hidden Speakeasy (you will never find it without the free tour) but please try on your own first. The dining room is absolutely beautiful with incredible historical photos everywhere and for you book lovers, every book in the restaurant is 1st edition! The cutlery is divine to eat off of (I honestly almost stole mine) and the crockery is period correct. Our visit was a very fun, tasteful, visually delightful, historically revealing and very refreshing experience for us. We love all of our local eateries in Fremont County but we just experienced the crown jewel of them all. Please don't miss this establishment in Canon City CO. when you either pass through or live here like I do, it's absolutely not going to disappoint you. Our next venture at The 1887 is to rent a room for the weekend and relive (in present time) the rooms and accommodations or this Grand beautiful hotel that folks did back in the 1880's.

Fantastic experience! Excellent quality food from a list of incredibly unique menu options. For the historical and beautiful location, along with the large portion sizes, it was surprising to see such reasonable pricing as well. Service staff were helpful and kind, and the dining area had amazing atmosphere.

It's a beautiful old setting, staff is friendly and hospitable. I ordered the curry and I would say this dish doesn't belong on the dinner menu, the flavors were great, but the presentation was poorly executed. It was served without a side or something to complement the dish, it was like eating hummus with nothing but your spoon. That's why I ordered bread, unaware that is not complementary (be prepared to spend almost 2.50 PER dinner roll). The peach dessert was divine; I really enjoyed it. I would go back for the atmosphere and dessert, but not for dinner.

My husband and I came to eat on a Tuesday evening to celebrate my husband’s birthday. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. The way the owner incorporated the history was an experience in and of itself. The war room, which you entered by a bookshelf door, was fantastic. ~ The service was excellent. We ordered a wedge salad, which they split for us, was phenomenal. The house made blue cheese dressing was perfect. He ordered the ribeye and I ordered the filet. Both, I would highly recommend. We finished our meal with the Peach dessert, it was a perfect balance between sweet and creamy. I ordered a drink from the mocktail menu and it was fabulous. I think it’s fantastic that they have a N/A beverage menu. Our server, Corey, was very attentive and had a great attitude. Wonderful service! The hostess, Chelsea, greeted us with a warm welcome and quickly seated us. She was very knowledgeable about the history of the restaurant and showed us the War Room. She is an asset to this establishment, as is Corey. The Chef did a fantastic job with the food. The plating was absolutely beautiful. All around, one of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had. I’ve dined all over the country and this is definitely one I will remember and suggest. I’m very excited to have such a beautiful restaurant in Cañon City. 10/10!

We had a staff party at the 1887 eatery and absolutely loved it. It’s sophisticated comfortable and the food is beyond delicious. I ordered the 6 ounce filet mignon and every bite melted me on the inside. The apps and dessert was spectacular as well. You have to try this place! Classiest joint in Cañon City.

We visited the historic 1887 restaurant for breakfast, and the ambiance was by far my favorite part vintage, elegant, and full of charm. The biscuits and gravy were okay, but the service was absolutely amazing. The restaurant itself is beautiful, cute, and rich with historic character, making it a lovely spot to visit.

A fairly new restaurant trying to be upscale. It has a long way to go. The asparagus and prime rib were tough. The duck and salmon were better, but the scallion cakes served with the duck lacked favor. We did not feel our meals were worth the price. I will try it again in the future. I believe they have potential. The setting is nice.

White Water Bar & Grill is a rustic, Western-style restaurant offering American cuisine and a full bar. The spacious patio provides ample seating for guests to relax and enjoy their meals. In addition to great food and drinks, the establishment offers various activities such as volleyball, horseshoes, darts, and axe throwing. It's also kid-friendly with a full playground available. While the atmosphere is generally enjoyable, some patrons have noted that the music can be quite loud and smoking is permitted in certain areas.
We visited Sunday and it was a great experience. This place is so Colorado!. Craft beer, BbQ, and all the backyard games to play. My 16 year and I bonded over horse shoes and axe throwing. We are so going back. Only 60 minutes from Colorado Springs. It really is the perfect place for everyone in the family.

This restaurant has a ton of variety, from its seating to its entertainment- it's a great option for families or just a drink at the bar or in a hammock for oneself. There is a park for kiddos, axe throwing, volleyball. We sat in a swinging booth, ordered the wings and green chili fries. The food was good, and came out freakishly fast! The first impression made was the dirty cup of water served to us. The water/ ice had a dirty taste to it even after asking for fresh ice/ water in a to go cup. The bathrooms could be cleaner.

This place is super dog friendly! They have a dog menu🐶!!! a large variety of outdoor seating. No complaints except for my bun being a little burnt on my Colorado cheesesteak.

This restaurant is amazing! Our waiter had the best energy ever, I’m pretty sure her name was Leslia . The atmosphere is really good here, very homey. Dogs are allowed which is awesome. Service is 10/10 for sure, food is very fast to arrive. The foods amazing! We ordered 3 dishes the cheesesteak baked potato, cheeseburger wrap, and the pulled pork sandwich. The baked potato was AMAZING!!! The best thing I’ve ever tasted, if you come here definitely get it. The burger was good, I personally didn’t love it but my family did. The wrap was okay, it has this sauce that I didn’t like at all. I wouldn’t recommend the wrap. Also, make sure you guys get the curly fries!! They are so delicious! The bathroom is awful. The stalls are much too small. The walls are way too close to the toilet, you can’t even really sit down because the doors in the way. Overall this restaurant is really good, a couple downs here and there but I would come here again! There are a lot of flys in the outside area though, so be warned. I would recommend this restaurant in general, 5/5.

Mid afternoon stop. White Water was recommended by a local rafting guide for the food, and the easy parking as we were pulling a big trailer, and they were right! This place is great! I'll definitely be back with a group, because the energy and atmosphere of the patio is fantastic! Shaded or sunny seating, axe throwing, great bar menu. The fried brussel sprouts were incredible!

Such a cool spot! We stopped in at noon on Sunday and it wasn't too busy. No wait for a table, and food came out in within 10 minutes. Just a really cool experience!

Day 2

East side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the east side side of town. Start the day off with Royal Gorge Route Railroad, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Skyline Drive. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Railroad company
The Royal Gorge Route Railroad is a historic excursion railroad that takes passengers on a scenic two-hour journey through the steep-sided Royal Gorge. Operating since 1999, the company offers year-round excursions from Canon City to Parkdale, Colorado, passing underneath the impressive Royal Gorge Bridge. The gorge itself is a natural wonder created by wind and water erosion over time and is home to the tallest suspension bridge in the country.
This train ride was a bucket list items of mine. We were boarded timely, was able to order food and drinks immediately. The train did depart late...1245 but the ride was nice. We ate and then went to the open car rail. It was awesome. Really enjoyed the ride from there. I suggest going. I would suggest riding in cooler months. We did in September. It was nice but did get warm when train was stopped to explain about the bridge.

Our experience on the Royal Gorge Railroad was nothing short of incredible! From the moment we boarded, the staff made us feel welcome and taken care of, setting the tone for an unforgettable ride. The views were absolutely breathtaking—towering canyon walls, the Arkansas River rushing below, and scenery that pictures just can’t do justice. It truly felt like a once-in-a-lifetime perspective you can only get from the train. We chose the first-class experience, and it was worth every bit. Comfortable seating, outstanding service, and delicious food and drinks made the journey feel both relaxing and special. The combination of luxury and natural beauty made the trip unforgettable. If you’re visiting Colorado, this is a must-do experience. Whether you’re after adventure, stunning views, or a little bit of luxury, the Royal Gorge Railroad delivers it all. Highly recommend!

We had such a great experience on the Royal Gorge train ride. We had many reservations because we were from out of town for our wedding and the staff were so friendly to try to seat us all together. Rainey the Sales Manager was so pleasant when I contacted her about linking our reservations. The views are absolutely stunning and the food and drinks were amazing! The staff were all friendly and attentive. Thank you for hosting our reservations. It was such an amazing way to kick off our wedding weekend!

I'm from Charlotte, NC. My son wanted to come to Colorado for his 21st birthday. We've never been here before. I booked this train ride along with meal and photo tickets. The customer service was impeccable, the food was great (we had burgers and chips, and drinks), but the views were absolutely stunning. Nothing line I'd ever seen before. I definitely recommend!! It's truly a 10/10.

This was one of the highlights of our trip to the Colorado Springs area. The staff was amazing. We had lunch and drinks on the train which was very good but expensive (what isn't). The ride was two hours and was very smooth. We didn't want to pay extra so we just got seats in regular coach then went to the open air car and enjoyed the very beautiful scenery. Try to book early so you get seats on the left side as this is the river/scenic side.

We had a wonderful experience on the Royal Gorge Route Railroad! We did both the 3:30 ride and the laser show, and both were absolutely amazing. The views were stunning, and everyone we encountered was so kind and welcoming. A special shoutout to our waiter, Payson — he was fantastic! Friendly, attentive, and made the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this trip! 🚂✨

I cannot actually say much about the scenery of the train ride because we booked the dinner train in the summer not realizing that it didn't leave until sunset during the fall, so everything was pitch black for most of our ride. I take full responsibility for this, and I am sure that it would have been beautiful during daylight hours based on the location. That being said, my wife and I booked tickets in the first class cabin as a special treat for ourselves. We liked the idea of a nice dinner while riding in comfortable seats in a train, seeing beautiful scenery. What we found were that the seats were not any more comfortable than what they have in coach, and the dinner was decent, but I would not say it was gourmet. And to make it worse, at the end the presented us with a "bill" to show us what they thought the meal would have cost us if it had not being included in the ticket (for tipping purposes) and they were trying to say that the entrees would be $80 (my wife had a vegetarian entree that was really just sliced veggies and cheese, nothing exciting), the wedge salad was $17 (very basic), and the "complimentary champagne" would have been $12, and the custard desert was $17. I know that we didn't actually have to tip them based on the recommendations, but if they are going to say that it was a $130 dinner per person, I am going to review them on what I would expect for $130. For that price, the food was very average, and the service was not exceptional. Additionally, the first class cabin is at the front of the train, and the only activity that there is to see is the light show which is 7 cars back, so we had to walk through all of the coach cabin (and the kitchen car) to see the light show, which wasn't really worth the walk. I could see ourselves going back and doing the train again during the day, but I would not bother with the first class cabin. Save the money, buy (or bring) snacks on the train and ride in the coach area. It looked much more relaxed and enjoyable.

Cañon City Brews & Bikes is a local bar with a bike-themed interior and a relaxed, homey atmosphere. The place offers a decent selection of food options, including the popular Fatty burger and corn cheese nuggets. Visitors can enjoy fun outdoor games like basketball and cornhole while savoring their meals. The friendly service extends to offering mechanical help for bikers in need, along with valuable local trail insights.
This is a perfect place for a quick beer and lunch or appetizers in downtown Cañon City, with games in outdoor area to play. My family and I ordered a mix of food, all very delicious. Our server Reese was quick to deliver food and drinks. She was also helpful in answering questions about the area we had, we appreciated that.

I ordered the Fatty and added bacon. I know, I know, choices were made. We also ordered the corn cheese nuggets. I loved ALL of it. They had fun games outside, basketball, cornhole, and tons of space. I biked here with a friend of mine and we needed a tiny bit of mechanical help. One of the owners came out and helped us! He knew about local trails, best practices, and optimal weather conditions. I'm a complete stranger and live in California but everyone here treated me like a local. I'll never forget that. If you're thinking of bringing a large group here, the only thing I will say is, they have personal bathrooms and could potentially have a line on a busy night. That's not a reason to avoid a great place like this but at least you can be aware of it.

Rarely does a business get 5 stars. That would mean EVERYTHING is impossibly perfect. Enjoyed the friendly service and had a burger that was excellent. The description has “fat” and was the most expensive and really hit the spot. Had probably 4 draft ales. The stronger beers make the BRONCOS tolerable. Lol. Quaint/homey feel to the place and didn’t realize what they have outside making for future enjoyable experience. Will definitely check it out again when in town.

Fun local bar in Cañón City. The bar is bike themed with bikes covering every surface of the bar’s interior. I would recommend stopping by if you’re looking for a place to hang out and grab a drink or two. They also have a decent selection of food options if you want to eat here… but it aligns more with your standard brewery/bar food than that of a full restaurant.

We are staying in Breckinridge and my wife got altitude sickness so we chose Canon City as a lower altitude location to drive for the day. We immediately found this place and realized it was a great place to spend a few hours before heading back. The bar inside was nice but we headed outside to the beer garden. Cornhole, basketball, and jinga to occupy the kids as I had a few beers. We ate burgers and street tacos. The kids said the burgers were ok and the beef street tacos just ok. The atmosphere and the staff were great. Definitely going to return.

Underwhelmed. 2 stars for beer selection, 1 for food. Chips are salsa are Tostitos from the store. Burger was not cooked to “well”. The only saving grace was the Mac and cheese which was good. I usually take food home and are not taking anything with us from the left over burger and chicken street tacos.

Biryani restaurant
Nirvana Culinary Paradise is a charming family-owned restaurant that offers an authentic Indian dining experience. The establishment prides itself on using imported spices from India to create classic dishes like masala, curry, and tandoori. With indoor and outdoor seating options available, guests can savor their flavorful meals while taking in the downtown ambiance.
I didn’t expect to find such a fantastic Indian restaurant in this isolated part of Colorado, but Nirvana in Cañon City truly exceeded my expectations! From the outside, it looks like a small place, but once inside, I was blown away by the spacious seating and top-notch ambiance. I ordered the tandoori chicken, which came with four juicy, fresh chicken legs. The spice level was mild, just enough to enhance the flavors, and it was served with basmati rice. However, I found it difficult to finish the rice since there was no curry to make it moist. I also tried the biryani, which was full of rich spices and had great quality. The restaurant was lively, with many families dining in, which speaks to its popularity. I would highly recommend Nirvana to anyone looking for delicious Indian food near Cañon City! The only drawback I noticed was that the staff didn’t clear tables promptly. Even after we finished our meal, some tables with leftover plates were still uncleared. That’s one area that could be improved, but overall, the experience was excellent!

Honestly, I didn’t expect such a good Indian restaurant in and around Canon City. We were visiting the royal gorge bridge and the train nearby and craving for Indian food. They serve delicious veg momo, paneer curry and garlic naan. It’s new and it is really good. The restaurant is capable of seating many people at a time which I didn’t expect in a small town. The food portions offered also does justice to the price of the food.
Shriraam M — Google review
We ordered the Mix Platter, Butter Chicken, and Garlic Naan. The shrimp in the mixed platter was undercooked. Butter Chicken is the one dish expected to be good in every Indian restaurant, but they didn't even get it right; the gravy was runny and didn't taste good. Not a good experience, especially for the price paid."

We found this to be awesome . Didn’t expect such great food, and fast service . Recommended Dishes - ( my spice tolerance is quite high ) 1. Lamb rogan josh ( spice level 5 ) 2. Chicken dhaniya ( spice level 5 ) 3. Chicken chilli ( spice level 5) Dishes not recommend- 1. Chicken Momo ( felt like frozen stuff from trader joes or Costco ) Pros - 1. Fast service 2. Ample parking 3. Great coffee shop right across the street 4. Ample space Cons - 1. It’s costly

Stopped by on a Friday evening, passing through town. We had the stuffed mushrooms, the rib eye steaks, and two ice-cold beers. The atmosphere was perfect, and it embodied what an old town should feel like with the flavors of an upscale restaurant. We will definitely be back!

Good: kind service and brought dog bowl proactively to our pup. The salmon bowl was pretty tasty overall. Inside has a nice atmosphere. Not as good: two hairs in my salmon bowl. Salmon was definitely a bit overcooked. Wife Ordered a mocktail which clearly says it’s $7 vs $12 for regular cocktail. They still insisted on charging $12 even after I pointed it out… saying it’s due to using “alcohol free vodka.” Aka BS. Says $7 clearly on the menu.

The food was ok, but the French bread pizza was not as good as we hoped. Mainly because we expected a pizza, it was just a lot of bread to toppings ratio. Additionally, the cutting board it was served on was well used with cuts and probably not the most food safe anymore. The server was great and on top of our needs for a big group. I enjoyed the chicken salad.

We have had several great meals here driving from CO Springs back to Salida. The food is really delicious. Wings, pulled pork, Philly, burger, all top notch. The food is scratch and it tastes like it- love it. Drink menu, beer, wine, great selection. Service can be slower if they are understaffed. Regardless, they are super friendly and busting their tails. It’s just I think they sometimes get caught with a rush they could use another team member or two. Atmosphere is great. Historic feel, quality decor, lots of tvs for sports.

We are from out of town and stopped by to get fresh air and grill out - this was the perfect park! Beautiful playscape, covered pavilion with picnic tables, and an awesome splash pad. We have been here 3 different summers. It is a fun place with a splash pad, a large field, gazebos, a duck/goose pond and the Arkansas River. I must warn others that the river can be dangerous, and at times is moving really quickly. I would not recommend going down it if you are not a good swimmer. There are plenty of little inlets where the flow is very slow and only a foot or two deep that is perfect for children to play.

We loved this park! We’re not from Colorado and came by it by chance and it was such a blast! The splash pad was so refreshing. It is by reservation but we were able to go in since the limit is 40 and there were only about 10 kids. Very sweet girl who was attending the area, she came up to us and explained the reservation. The playground was perfect for my 18 month old and my 3 year old enjoyed climbing the jungle gym. There is river access and we were able to soak our feet as we watched people float the river. Beautiful park!

Skyline Drive in Colorado is a short but stunning scenic route that offers breathtaking views of Canon City. This 2.6-mile road, completed in 1905 with labor from local inmates, features pullouts with viewing areas for visitors to stop and take in the splendor. The narrow one-way road follows the contour of a towering ridge along Route 50, offering expansive vistas and unique geological features such as dino tracks and a cool little cave.
Unreal experience. Unbelievable view. Plenty of places to pull off and take photos or even sit and enjoy the view. Also has a trail at the peak along with a bench. You won’t miss it. It’s a must visit if you’re in the area. Takes maybe 7 mins from start to end. Worth every second.

Skyline drive is one way road with wonderful view of both sides. Only 15 miles/h is speed limit to drive safely. Old prisoners made this road and it's awesome driveway.

We did it! Im thankful we've been in Colorado for a few years now and got acclimated to the altitude and the mountain driving, or else this would have been quite terrifying!! Staying locally for a week we saw this and knew about it from others so we made the decision to just do it. Now we can say we have driven the Skyline road. There is no cost to drive yourself up. And it is only a 10-15min road, unless you stop and get out at places. I read that the local prisoners helped build it back in early 1900s, I think they did a great job 👍🏼 I will admit, as passenger, there was a sec there at one point I did feel my heart rate increase ❣️

Super cool place to take a nice scenic drive. It's not very long, but the views are amazing. If you head up early in the am you can catch the sunrise from a few different spots. 👌🏽☀️ Definitely recommend. It's free and although there is no (none that I saw) wheelchair accessible parking spaces - you could totally enjoy this entire drive from the comfort of your vehicle. ❤️😇 There are no real parking spaces for anyone, just pull offs to take pictures. Go for it!! & Watch for bikes! Share the road.

A short and very scenic drive. A local shuttle driver we ran into on one of our hikes suggested we take this drive to see dinosaur footprints discovered in the 80s. We found the cliff wall but couldn't find the footprints. We, like bumbling tourist that we are, looked suitably dumbfounded; a nice local man and his four footed "Gracie" stopped his jeep and pointed the prints to us. He also gave us a bit of history. It turned out he is a tour guide for Colorado Jeep Tours. Info card to follow. A must short short to the end. You will end up in Canon City. It has a really lovely historic old Main St. with 95% of the stores open for business. It is literally blks from where you board the Royal Gorge train tour.

Boudreauxs BBQ is a culinary gem that promises an unforgettable barbecue experience. On my first visit, I was pleasantly surprised by the juicy meats, which were so well-marinated that they didn't require any additional BBQ sauce to enhance their flavor. The sides were equally impressive; the baked beans had delightful chunks of meat, and the mac and cheese stood out as one of the best I've tasted from a BBQ joint.
Flavor is immaculate! I ordered brisket nachos and side of macaron. the macaroni wasn’t the greatest but my toddler enjoyed and it was her meal so that’s a win. I was offered regular and hot barbecue sauce and the sauce was so good ! Perfect amount of spice and season. The nachos were a huge portion so for 14$ it was well worth the money. could easily split with three people. My server was just what I needed , present yet not overbearing. Really enjoyed this experience

Really well worth the stop. Super friendly staff. Food was awesome. I had a Brisket Sandwich, wife had a loaded bake potatoe with Brisket. Look, if you get the baked potato with Brisket there is enough to feed two ppl ( maybe 3) . Large portions. We were there on a Sunday afternoon... not to busy. As of 3-16-25 there is road construction right in fron of the place which might make getting in to their parking a bit tricky but they have their own parking and it's doable. If BBQ is your thing plan a stop.

Followed our noses from 5th street, and unfortunately, they were out of everything except brisket so we didn't get to try those. We ordered a brisket plate and brisket baked potato with the last cheddar jalapeño sausage. We are from Texas and this establishment is Louisiana style (assuming from decor). Brisket was a bit dry and needed the sauce which was nice and earthy. Coleslaw was not too sweet and fresh, and the Bacon baked beans were sweet, earthy, and delicious. I ended up putting the baked beans on top of my brisket baked potato which I enjoyed. It wasn't too hot but had plenty of toppings for it being huge (we split it). The sausage we hated, was starchy like it was mostly filled with overcooked beans (no grease, no meat texture, no flavor).

Me and my friends were in town for the Royal Gorge Route Railroad and were looking for a highly rated restaurant to eat at after the train ride. We found Boudreaux's and boy, the ratings did not lie! First thing I noticed was the ambience. It was a nice, familiar southern vibe that I wasn't expecting to see in Colorado. Apologies in advance for not remembering names but, we were greeted by our server who was extremely friendly. She was prompt and attentive to our whole group. We put in our orders, I ordered the Loaded Baked Potato with Brisket, Loaded Mac & Cheese with Brisket and Baked Beans. Being that I consider myself not to be the biggest BBQ fan, not liking super smoky flavor, I was skeptical... I was very pleasantly surprised. Before getting to the food, I want to touch briefly on the owner and grill master of Boudreaux's. Again, very sorry I cannot remember his name but, after we spoke with him, I couldn't have been more eager to try his BBQ. He told us a little about his past and his experience in BBQ. He let us know that the larger racks of ribs weren't quite ready and brought out some "smaller" racks that were ready. These didn't seem small to me and my friends said that they were excellent. His passion in his craft is very admirable and reassuring that we came to the right place. I don't have anything to compare this brisket to as it is the first time I've had brisket but, I know that this was some damn good brisket. It was juicy, full of flavor and the "burnt" parts were surprisingly sweet. The beans were delicious with a nice sweetness. The Mac & Cheese was nice and creamy. The portions were definitely more than enough. All of it was great! I paid cash and I am writing this review a few days later so, I can't quite remember how much I paid - I know it wasn't pricy - and I'd absolutely pay it again! Thank you Boudreaux's for your hospitality and delicious BBQ! I wish you all the best!

Talk about an experience!! I asked about a GF menu and was told "everything but the bread is gf". The owner came over and talked with us and said he has family members that are Celiac so he created a safe place! The cooks took extreme precautions with separate work stations and washed hands and made my meal first. Definitely coming back!

Easily the best brisket I've had outside of Texas. So juicy and thick sliced. Note at 6:00 on a Saturday they were pretty much out of food already so get there early.

We came here on a whim after spending the day in the Royal Gorge park. We were tired and hungry. The food was amazing very good portions. Our waitress was awesome, and the owner We assume thats who it was, was super kind and welcoming. We will definitely come back the next time we are in Cañon City! We sat outside even though it was 80 outside it was nice and cool on the patio! Highly recommend!

Spent 50 + dollars. To be told they were out of almost everything. Pot salad looked like a jar of dill was dumped in it. Very disappointed. Manager wouldn't even take my call. Left it to the young server who had no idea what to do. Poor girl. Refund or a new meal when they have re stocked would be the professional thing to do. Just say you dont have enough to fulfill my order instead of stretching it and hope customer doesn't notice. Smh

Burger was delicious! Staff was great! Great place to refuel after a full day of rafting. The beer selection is pretty good. It was a little pricey to me but ended up being worth it! Plus the I side is pretty cool with lots of older features with modern twists!

They nailed it! We had excellent, knowledgeable, and attentive service. Asked for recommendations and we were very happy with our choices. The steamed mussels were meaty and the liquor was one of the best I've had, even on the coast. Beef tips were just right. Burgers looked great. I was really tempted by the Sangre Cristo sandwich, but we'll have to save it for our next visit.
Annie L — Google review
Unfortunately the worst "brewery" experience I have ever had. The place smelled like faint sewage. The had one beer of their own on tap. They did have e guest beers so that was better than nothing. The inside is more like an old time regulars dive bar than a brewery. The beer I tried was decent though. Room for improvement.

Delicious food and great service. My dipping sauce for the sweet potato fries was a marshmallow and brown sugar concoction that took me to heaven. Next time I visit, I'll be dropping eating here again.

So far, here at 2pm on a Saturday. Great service. The on tap beer selection is good. The burger is ok. Got the green chili burger, the bun is a standard over the shelf bun nothing special, but it is toasted. The beef is good, thin but tasty not medium, as ordered, but good flavor. Fries are great. If you come to Canyon City this is a good local establishment to grab a bite and grab a beer.

Great beer and food and an awesome staff. JB's knowledge of the state and his liqueur is unbelievable and he mixes some killer concoctions.

I usually don't leave a review for restaurants, but this place was so terrible that I thought (hopefully) I can save another family from the experience we had last night. This was my Father's birthday dinner! We waited 20-30 minutes for a waiter/waitress to come to the table. Once they came, we ordered drinks and waited another 20-30 minutes for those to arrive. After that, we ordered our food immediately. We waited for over 2 hours and we didn't receive our appetizers or entrees. One of us asked what was going on, and the waitress said she only placed our order 20 minutes ago (we had ordered more than an hour ago at this point). The manager came in and told my Grandfather to go to hell- very unprofessional. We left without eating, and ended up getting pizza. This place is very unorganized and unprofessional. If you are looking for a good place to enjoy excellent service and a good meal, this place is not for you.

Happy Endings Caboose Cafe is a charming eatery located near Canon City's main attractions. They serve a variety of meals and drinks made with locally sourced Colorado ingredients, including espresso drinks, burgers, ice cream, crepes, and sandwiches. The cafe offers a unique dining experience inside an air-conditioned caboose. While some customers praised the delicious food and cozy atmosphere, others noted minor inconveniences such as missing condiments and limited napkins.
AWESOME LITTLE PLACE. We rode the Phantom Canyon Scenic Drive from Cripple Creek to Canyon City. It was the most awesome drive and sites ever. The Caboose restaurant was awesome. What a great setting and so charming and cute. Food was ok, just happy with the surroundings.
Beckie B — Google review
Cute and cozy ambiance, disappointing food. We stopped by for lunch and loved sitting in the caboose with its rustic feel. The food unfortunately was a real letdown. The spinach artichoke dip was cold when it arrived and not very flavorful, the bread on my BLT was falling apart and had no condiments on it (they gave me some mayo packets to add myself), the quesadilla was okay and the tortilla chips were really bland. Our order was also delivered to the wrong table at first, and the waitress was incredulous when we corrected her. It's worth checking out for the atmosphere, but maybe go for the ice cream or coffee and not the mains.
Donna M — Google review
Food was awful, and it was $32 for both crepes. Me and my fiance got two crepes they were both overcooked crispy top and barely had any fillings. Nothing like the old pictures that they post very false advertising. And the service sucked because there was a girl who ran into me and didn't even say sorry. Atmosphere, very horrible, because seats are only outside. Biggest tourist trap ever.

Great food, great view and excellent customer service. Kandi was a really nice to us and really helpful. You can have a nice view of the train when departing or arriving while you are enjoying a cup of coffee or having a tasty breakfast. The burger was excellent. Thanks again Kandi

Listen. We were expecting a family friendly cafe / diner. I would absolutely not classify this as "family " friendly. A light lunch with the girls? Sure. A fun snack with toddlers? Absolutely not. The cheapest child appropriate drink on the menu was a $7 glass bottle of water. How hard is it to have some juice boxes in the fridge? But the staff was friendly and it was a cute location. Just far far upscaled then I expected.

Had a fantastic breakfast burrito. Plenty to split between two people and both felt satisfied. Coffee was delish as well.

Yesterday 8/16/25 at 11:19 we had our first and last experience here. $40 for 2 drinks and a sandwich? And waited almost 30 minutes for our sandwich, which was more like 2 pieces of bread, lettuce, tomato, and bacon. But where was the flavor? The sauce? A little mayo would work. After waiting 20 minutes, my wife went inside to check on the food, not done. Then after waiting another 10 minutes I went inside and told them we wanted it to go. We already finished our coffee drinks by the time the food was done. Cool caboose car setting but not worth the time or money.

Pizza Madness is a vibrant and funky restaurant that has been voted as Fremont County's best pizza for over a decade. The place offers award-winning pizzas made with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients in an environment focused on sustainability. The dining room is adorned with colorful local artwork, creating an eclectic atmosphere. In addition to their delicious pizzas, the restaurant also serves sandwiches, pasta, and crispy baked chicken wings.
Great atmosphere, fantastic food and reasonably priced! We had to find our waitress for refills, to get our bill, and then pay the bill. Would dine here again. Restrooms were clean.

The pizza was some of the best I have had in Colorado. Compared the Springs, this blew it away. No contest. I got the Pesto Colorado and after a hot day at the Gorge it hit the spot on levels I didn’t even think were possible. Each bite flowed right into the crust, with the only thought left in your head “I need more.” Maya was absolutely fantastic and knew I would need a box without even me asking. Read my mind, literally. 10/10

In short...pizza good, service bad. We were on vacation in Canon City and stopped by Pizza Madness for lunch due to good Google reviews. We arrived at 11 am on a Sunday. There was only 1 other table with patrons and so we were greeted right away and our drink order taken. When she came back we ordered. She delivered our salad in a timely manner. Our pizza took almost 40 minutes to arrive (with only 2 tables plus someone who came in later who must have ordered ahead.) *I see now on the website it states 25-30 minutes for their crispy bottom pizzas and that you can order ahead.* The waitress could have mentioned the time when we ordered as a reminder (since we weren't locals) or as a suggestion, put it on your menu. Here is where the service went down. She delivered the pizza and we never saw her again, ever. Not a "How's the pizza?" "Can I get you some more water?" "Do you need a box?" "Are you ready for the bill?" Nothing, we sat there even to the point that I was on my phone sitting sideways and no one was eating pizza at our table any more. She came as close as the next table to us. The only way I could have gotten her attention is if I had walked up to her while she was there. We finally found another gal who was more than happy to get us a box and the bill. The restaurant was a little busier at this point but it is no excuse. Either get more waitresses or have them be more aware of their tables. Our other complaint was that there was a worker cleaning the front door (near where we were seated) with an aerosol window cleaner. The ceiling fans were on and the smell spread. I jumped up immediately and asked her if she could do that after we left. She said no problem. Please clean your windows before anyone gets there. I am sure I am not the only fragrance sensitive person.

This place is really 80s style and the pizza is delicious. I Went here with my mom, little brother, mom, my aunt, uncle, my 2 cousins, my cousins 2 boys and my other cousins baby. The art on the wall is really retro and the ufo on the wall is a really nice feature.

Our waitress came and took our order shortly after we arrived. We probably got our pizza 15- 20 minutes later. We ordered the "Special" pizza and It was great! We had to get up and go to the bar and get our own drink refills because our waitress went MIA. The great pizza and prices made it worth the effort even though the service was horrible. It seems most locals order takeout because we saw at least 12 different people pickup to go orders in 30-40 minutes we were there. My recommendation, go there for the food, not the service.
Karen K — Google review
Spent a day in this area on Royal Gorge train. Coming from the east coast we know pizza pretty well. We ordered a large thin crust pepper and onion with red sauce with a few beers and it was awesome. Pizza had a crispy crust and was delicious and the prices were very reasonable. Servers were extremely pleasant. Highly recommended.
Anthony — Google review
The food was awesome. I wasn't thrilled when I said I didn't want a receipt because I trusted them. But I wish now I would have kept all receipts! My order was a little over $75. Which was fine. I left a 20% tip which was about $15.75. That is a total of about$90 or so. When i looked at my bank account this morning there was $101 taken out. 🙃 so sad that honesty is a thing of the past. It will be a while before I go back and from now on you can bet I will get a receipt! I hope it was worth it for them and I pray God will show them the wrong! I will pray for them!!!
Pam M — Google review
Pizza Madness is a must-stop every time we visit. This place has become a family tradition for us, and for good reason. The atmosphere is funky, fun, and full of personality—totally unlike your typical pizza joint. Their handmade pizzas are absolutely delicious, with unique topping combinations that you won’t find anywhere else. You can tell everything is made fresh and with care. Whether you're a fan of the classics or want to try something a little out of the ordinary, there’s something here for everyone. The crust is always just right—crispy on the outside and soft on the inside—and the staff is friendly and welcoming. If you're in town and craving pizza, skip the chains and check out Pizza Madness. You won’t regret it!

The Owl Cigar Store in Canon City may surprise you with its unassuming name, as it's actually a long-standing family-friendly joint known for its classic burgers and fries. Despite its humble appearance, this over 100-year-old establishment offers an authentic experience that feels like a step back in time. While the menu is simple, featuring mainly burgers and fries, the food is described as affordable and satisfying.
Came here upon the recommendation of our tour guide from Arkansas river tours. Great little place for burgers, fries and shakes at a decent price. Very simple. Ketchup, mustard, pickle, and onion. No lettuce or tomato. Service was quick. Then you just go up to pay and tell them what you had and they find your ticket. Takes both cash and credit.

Here's my take on this locals secret: We came in, excited about what we had heard, and sat down. The place was a bit unorganized, our table was backed against a pool table but we were stull hopeful. The waitress was nice and took our drink orders. She later brought our drinks but forgot two. We reminded her when she took our food order. For my burger she asked if I wanted everything on it: mayo, mustard, lettuce, pickles and grilled jalapeños. I said yes. That sounded great. We ended up waiting for 45 minutes. Two of our drinks still hadn't arrived. I looked around and no one that came around the same time as us weren't being served either. Finally, our food arrived. My burger didn't have any of those items and had pickled jalapeños, which i don't like. We reminded the waitress that brought our food ( a different one) of our drinks not arriving. 10 minutes later a man came to check on us and we told him and he brought them right away. I don't know if this was an off day or constant. The burgers were just OK and very small, especially for their price. The egg was a nice touch. The fries were not great. The shakes were decent. The soda was good. Overall, based on my experience and the taste of the food, I won't be returning and I cant recommend visiting here. D-. Don't believe the hype. I've had better burgers in this town.

The BEST bar burger in the world!! They taste the same as they did 30 years ago! Great service. Love going there. Sometimes the wait is kinda long when they are busy but definitely worth the wait. I like to go in off hours so it's not so crowded. My grandsons' favorite burgers and shakes.

If your looking for a 5 star place with great food, great atmosphere and service, this is it. The Owl was purchased in 1903 and had remained in the family every since. Great little, locally owned place to get great hamburgers and enjoy the company. Highly recommend coming here if you are ever in Cañon City.

Owl was suggested by our rafting tour group, Lost Paddle. No frills, just really good burgers. They were right. We had a huge group and got singles to triple cheeseburgers! Yes, a few of us got an egg. The shakes were good and the fries were soft and hot. They had ketchup and Louisiana on the table. I mixed the 2 to season the fries. Match made in heaven!

The best little burgers, excellent fresh fries, and service that is top notch. We sat at the bar, and the waitress, although super busy, chatted with us while she was making malts. This is a delightful, place to grab a delicious burger.

Latin American restaurant
El Caporal Family Mexican Restaurant is a down-to-earth eatery located on Main Street in Canon City, offering a mix of hearty Mexican and American dishes alongside an array of Mexican beers and large margaritas. Visitors can expect authentic Mexican and southwestern cuisine, including popular options like enchiladas, tacos, burritos, carne asada, and fajitas. The restaurant's welcoming atmosphere and courteous staff create a pleasant dining experience for guests.
Really good Mexican food! I had tacos al carbon. My personal preference is soft corn tortillas when I order street like tacos. The tortillas were flash fried in oil that introduced grease to the taco. I suppose others would prefer that. My wife had a tamale and chicken enchilada. We both ended up eating off of her plate as it was phenomenal! Great beans and rice. Very attractive dining area. A MUST if you're in the Canon City area and craving Mexican. Somebody had fajitas next to us and they smelled super good! We will definitely be back!

This is real Mexican food. It was so good. I haven't had tacos, rice and beans like this since I ate in San Diego California. I felt like it was homemade. My husband's dish was just as good. The restaurant is very clean and the waiter was very attentive. This place gets very busy and I can see why. Enjoy

This was an awesome choice. All the food and service were great. The portions were much bigger than we needed, and we over ordered. All the sided were good, and the Chile Rellenos were exceptional. The Chimichamgas were good, but I probably won't order again. They had a lot of chicken that tasted like it was canned and a little flavor different than we are used to. Just a suggestion for management, put the guacamole on the side it is something some people really like, and to some, it's a turn-off. Overall, it was a great place and will return someday.

I’ve heard it is the best Mexican food in canon city. I think the rumors are right! The servers seem to really care about the business and are friendly. The food was excellent. Try to chili relleno! Salsa had just the right amount of heat and sweetness. As my husband just said, “Wow, that hit the spot!” Will definitely be back on a regular basis.

My wife and I have been loyal customers for 1 1/2 years eating there 2-3 times a month. The food is fantastic but the service needs improving. You would think the staff would recognize returning customers but no, we are treated as if we are strangers every time. Last Friday the waiter served two tables ahead of us even though we had been seated before them. Not very friendly but the great food keeps us coming back.

Amazing! We went with a group of right and they handled it no problem, everyone got a recommendation, and everyone was happy and satisfied before the good even came! The Museum of Colorado Prisons, located in the former Colorado state women's prison, offers a fascinating look into the history of prisons in the Canon City area. With exhibits dating back to the 1920s, including 30 cell displays, a gas chamber, and confiscated weapons, visitors can explore the daily lives of wardens, guards, and inmates from Colorado's territorial period to modern times. The museum also showcases some of the region's most notorious prisoners.
Very interesting. Of course the prison is beside the museum and still running. Museum use to be a woman's prison. Full old gas chambers. Crazy how far back in time they were used. All interesting stuff.

Very interesting - so much to see! We learned so much during our visit to the prison museum. The history is amazing and you could spend many hours looking at the artifacts and reading the stories. If you’re in the area I’d definitely recommend stopping in and checking it out.

The Museum of Colorado Prisons in Cañon City is a unique and captivating experience. Set in a former women’s prison, it offers a chilling and authentic glimpse into the history of incarceration in Colorado. Walking through the old cells and seeing the artifacts gives you an eerie sense of what life was like behind bars. One of the most striking exhibits is the preserved gas chamber, complete with detailed information about its history and use. It’s both sobering and thought provoking, making you reflect on the justice system’s evolution. The museum staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the self guided tour is easy to follow at your own pace. Whether you’re interested in history, criminology, or just looking for something different, this museum is an absolute must see. Plan for 1 1/2 hours to take it all in!

Words cannot describe the awe-inspired picturesque scenery and education you get from this trip. Well worth the money spent. Our driver/guide was extremely knowledgeable of the area and educated us with a lot of information about Colorado we did not know. Especially the dinosaurs. You get to go and see things that only this tour has access to which includes I don't think I'll tell you

Will was awesome to work with in arranging a custom jeep tour for a group of 29 senior citizens. We saw beautiful scenery, heard about the history of the area, learned the geology of the rock strata and just had a lot of fun. The 90 minutes we spent in the jeeps was one of the highlites of our trip.

Fast food restaurant
Wendy's, a fast-food burger chain, offers a variety of sides like chili and baked potatoes. Customers have praised the restaurant for its high quality in the post-covid era. They've mentioned that the staff treated their pets well by giving them treats and showing affection. The food itself has received positive remarks as well, with fresh Cobb salads that come with all necessary utensils.
I don't usually give reviews for fast food but I thought I should really make an exception. On a Saturday night around 9 p m, the drive through was crazy busy. The staff really did an excellent job. They kept the line moving fast, the food was prepared correctly, and the order was correct. Great Job guys!

Stopped in to grab a quick lunch. We were pleasantly surprised by their cheerful and pleasant customer service, fast preparation of our rather large order for 5 people, everything in our order was correct and freshly made. The restaurant was nice and clean even the restroom was clean. Easy to find right off highway 50 with a good sized parking lot easy to get in and out of.
Happy D — Google review
Placed an online order for it to be declined by their site. To get through the drive through and they have a complete attitude. All unbeknownst to me seeing as I saw my receipt. I had the email confirmation. Just to go to my bank app and see it was declined. So their system mishap became a reason to be rude to me. No I didn't place the order at another store. I know exactly where I placed the order and what I placed. THEIR SITE SYSTEM DECLINED MY ORDER. There was no need to be rude and making snide comments with the drive through window open. There was no need for any of that. Got an attitude about the wrong things when the inside of this place is hardly ever clean. Rude customer service unless it's super late at night damn near closing time. Just like IHOP in this town... Wendys is another place I will never go to again simply because of how rude everyone is!

Average fast food place. The food was okay, Burger and Spicy Chicken Sandwich were hot, the fries weren't the best. The young lady taking orders was super great! Very friendly and nice
Philip S — Google review
After having to drive back to this restaurant paying more than I should have because they forgot to give me all of my food they wouldn't fix the order and wouldn't give me a refund. Then when I called them to get a name to report to corporate I was hung up on. This is the worst restaurant to go to in town based on customer service alone they could have the best food in the world and I wouldn't go there because don't to do good business!
Joseph P — Google review
Our first time at the drive thru. While the service was fast we asked for our hamburger to be cut in half. Nope! They can’t do that but said they’d give us a plastic knife. When we picked it up at the window we asked the young man if we got a plastic knife. He said Yes. We drove to a nearby park and guess what? NO plastic knife! Plus the hamburger was very blah tasting and the fries tasted stale. Won’t be going there again.

Restaurant
Mose Public House, situated in downtown Canon City, is a bartender-run establishment offering craft cocktails. The name "Mose" pays homage to a legendary grizzly bear that roamed the streets of Canon City in the 1800s. Housed in a building dating back to 1898, which was originally the town's first post office, this venue allows patrons to savor drinks while soaking up some local history.
Wow! Moved to the area one year ago. I'm picky and I've been trying a lot of different places to find my "regular". So let's examine the boxes needing checking: Chill, fun atmosphere? Check. Decent food for very fair prices? Yup. Outdoor seating/dog friendly, entertainment (pool tables, TV's with the games), and friendly service? Yup, yup and yup. Well-deserved shout out to bartender Jennifer!

Great little local spot in Cañon. Get the Sunshine mule with Rocky Mountain Sunshine - my favorite local distillery. Seddona is awesome. Overall, a great spot for a cocktail inside or on the patio! The cocktail called Arkansas River Water was also phenomenal. And the Sunshine Stinger! So many good options.

It's a really nice place. Some of us go every Friday after work and have a drink and visit about anything but work. The staff are very friendly. Prices are reasonable. The food is great. There's a back room with a pool table. I definitely recommend this establishment.

I Stopped to grab supper in Cañon City, and this place was across from where I parked. Bartender was super friendly and nailed drink recommendations for me. I had the grilled chicken tenders with horseradish crema and pasta salad. The food was excellent; I haven't had chicken as tender as this anywhere else, and the pasta salad was great. I recommend The Aviation and The Last Word if you're a fan of gin cocktails.

Stopped in Mose for the first time this weekend, it was a hot day and I tried one of their specials the Sunshine Stinger, made with sunshine lemon honey vodka- it was delicious! The service was 10/10 as well, highly recommend the cocktail and the bar.

Love stopping in here for a cocktail! Never had their food but Quinn at the bar was amazing at making drinks and was very knowledgeable of the lavish cocktail menu they have! Prime location on Main St to stop in anytime!

Two - 7’ Diamond Pool Tables. Pretty much the only place I found that has pool tables near the Royal Gorge. Use Cab service at night cuz Uber doesn’t go there after dark. I found this out after waiting for a response from Uber on ride. After 45 minutes, the Bartender informed me when I asked. He gave me the number for the Taxi and one arrived in 1 minute. Same price as Uber.

Really nice bar/restaurant with a great atmosphere! The employees were all so sweet, the food was fantastic for a bar, 2 pool tables in the back, music, outside patio, & cool decor. Definitely recommend this place!

The restaurant offers outdoor seating and takeout options, making it convenient for various dining preferences. Locals highly recommend the deep fried artichoke hearts and Gouda sticks with green chili as appetizers, along with handcrafted sauces, pasta, and meatballs. Perfect casual family Italian restaurant. Staff were great. Food was delicious. Clean place. Great value.

While visiting Cañon City, we are trying restaurants that are on my brother’s favorites list. Today it was DiRitos Italian food. The special was lasagna and I love lasagna, so guess what? Yup. I had lasagna. It. Was. Great! Our service was fast, polite, thorough and pleasant. Others in my party had a calzone, which they loved. Highly recommended.
Rob H — Google review
The food was absolutely amazing and the service was outstanding. This was truly one of the best places we’ve ever been. Highly recommend! We ordered the steak salad, chicken calzone, and soup. The portions were huge, but everything was so delicious!

Roasted garlic served with bread before meal… I could have eaten a whole dinner of JUST the garlic. Spaghetti and meatballs, Penne Apento, side salads, generous servings. Lemon chiffon cake for dessert. Generous servings, seasoned to perfection. No wonder the flow of incoming diners was constant while we ate and as we left. BRAVO DiRito’s⭐️⭐️⭐️!

The food was excellent and our server was a hall of fame server. The pizza was top 5 for me in my lifetime

We went to DiRitos! We asked locals in Canon City where the best food in town was and they sent us here. Well, they were NOT wrong. This was just SO good and our waitress was absolutely awesome. For appetizers we tried the deep fried artichoke hearts and Gouda sticks with green chili. (Recommended!) All of the sauces and pasta and meatballs were hand made. The pizza was absolute perfection and don't forget to save room for the cannoli! *Post visit note: I cannot stop thinking about that spicy meatball! We will definitely be back for more soon! :)

We haven't been here in awhile.. We decided to pass on their many amazing pizzas or calzones and try a sandwich with French fries this time.. Philly cheese steak and Meatballs subs.. THIS IS HOW FRENCH FRIES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE.. Crispy but not overcooked.. Aries was a sweet, knowledgeable, and very capable server.. Can't wait to see her again and see if she can mix a cocktail as well as she can serve food..
Tammatha S — Google review
Husband and I stopped into town to try the local restaurant. We didn’t wait more than 15 minutes on a Saturday night. The service was great and our server was lovely. We absolutely loved the bread with the roasted garlic!! I have never had anything that delicious in my life! It was an incredible savory starter that you won’t find anywhere else and you gotta have it if you’re in town. Husband had “That’s A Good Pasta” and I had a “Shrimp Alfredo”. He thought his was great! I thought the shrimp could use a little salt and pepper when grilled, but still a delicious dish. Would visit again if we’re in the area!
