Good Harbor Beach is a small yet stunning beach known for its prime swimming conditions and picturesque surroundings. The white sand, clear waters, and scenic views make it an ideal spot for a relaxing day by the shore. During low tide, visitors can explore Salt Island or the nearby Annisquam River to discover diverse marine life. The beach provides amenities such as restrooms, showers, and a concession stand offering snacks and beach toys.
One of my favorite beaches in MA. At noontime, tide is low, and you can walk out to the island and explore!!!
No dogs allowed on the beach in the summer starting April 1 or $300 fine. Also, you need parking passes to come if you are not a resident.

Great beach! We love coming here for the soft sand and fun waves. During low tide there are tide pools and a river the kids can explore, plus an island you can reach via a sandbar. During high tide there’s still plenty of beach. The parking is great - plentiful and stretches across the whole beach, making it easier to spread out and you never have to walk far.

The food stand can be slow to order and receive your food so plan accordingly. My lobster roll and fries took 30 minutes to be ready but that was pretty common for everyone there.
Overall we had a great time at Good Harbor and will make this one of our top beaches in the area!
We visited Good Harbor Beach in July and really loved it! We booked our parking spot a few days in advance, so when we arrived, we just had to show our reservation — super easy and convenient. We went early in the morning, which allowed us to park close to the beach entrance.
People start arriving around noon, so depending on what time you like to enjoy the beach, parking and getting a good spot can be easier or a bit more challenging later in the day.
The beach itself is very beautiful, with calm waters that are perfect for families with kids. We had such a relaxing and fun day, and we’ll definitely be coming back next summer!
Although the parking is limited and prices are salty, after 3-3:30pm the parking is free and there's always spaces to park. Short distance between parking lot and the beach, well maintained bathrooms but not so well maintained showers. Clearly a popular beach, by the crowd today. The water was ice cold in early August on a 80F Sunday. The tide rises suddenly in the afternoon, it's a beautiful scene to admire while sunbathing. Very pleasant beachn!
Good parking, well stocked bathrooms, convenient snack stand, helpful walkway mat in the sand leading from the snack stand to the start of the beach, making getting to the beach earlier for anyone with mobility challenges. The views are beautiful, and the beach is clean. My only complaint was people smoking cigarettes which ruined the enjoyment of the fresh air. Also, Keep an eye on your French fries and snacks for some assertive sea gulls.
First time coming here and it was enjoyable.
We got there for 8am so there was plenty of parking, I do think $45 with tax $47 this year for parking for non residents is terrible!
I did enjoy the fact that there are little waves here so its not a quiet beach. Walking the beach at low tide in the morning was nice, you can go to the puddles around the rocks to see what's in there and also cross the water to the island and climb it which we did not do.
There's bathrooms with changing rooms, a food area, and an area that sells beach accessories.
The beach at low tide looks very large but when it starts to come i it does get quite narrow.
The seagulls are very vicious come lunch time, I saw a few attack people while eating their food.
Good Harbor Beach is a stunning stretch of beautiful white sand facing the Atlantic Ocean, making it one of Gloucester’s most beloved coastal gems. The beach offers perfect conditions for boogie boarding and surfing, while at low tide, visitors can walk out to Salt Island, and at high tide, enjoy body surfing.
The beach is well-equipped with concession stands, restrooms, and showers, plus lifeguards on duty from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day. The wide sandy expanse is perfect for long, leisurely strolls by the ocean’s edge, and the views include Salt Island, Thacher Island, and Saratoga Creek.

Cape Ann Whale Watch offers tours to Stellwagen Bank led by knowledgeable guides, providing the opportunity to observe humpback whales and other marine life. The company operates from April through winter, allowing visitors to witness these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. In addition to whale watching, guests can also enjoy a variety of attractions in the area. One such attraction is the Hammond Castle Museum, an unexpected European-style castle on Cape Ann built by John Hays Hammond, Jr.
Enjoyed my tour. We got to see 8-9 humpbacks, a small great white, a finback whale. One whale breached and one got very close. Every trip is different. It’s takes a hour just to get out of the bay. Pretty large boat so I didn’t get motion sickness. They have younger crew that are educators that go around and interact with the guests for educational tidbits and questions. The naturalist who guided us was really good, easy to understand with lots of knowledge. She did not rush the tour and really wanted us to see everything we could possibly see, our tour was 4.5 hrs. Boarding started 30 min before and we left a few minutes early. They sell some stickers, pins, magnets, etc. at the end so bring cash if interested. Restrooms onboard and lots of seating, although you will be moving around to spot the wildlife.

My daughters and I had our 3rd exceptional adventure Oct 18, 2025 with Cape Ann Whale Watch on Saturday. Not only did we see many whales, one of which Tina (?) had not seen since 2023, but we had the 5% experience of seeing a large pod of white striped or white sided dolphins who were playing, jumping around the boat and giving us a magnificent show. The whales kept drawing us with the trumpeting sound that we never heard before. It was remarkable!
The knowledge of the guide seems unsurpassed and the smoothness of the ride, despite the significant waves, spoke highly of our Captain. The crew also graciously made sure everyone was okay throughout the trip. We’ll book again next year. And the year after. Absolutely the best whale watch you could hope for!!!!
Went on the whale watch on Sep 14 (1:45 PM). Parking was free and well-organized — staff guided us right to a spot, which was a big relief. The boat left exactly on time, and the guide was amazing, sharing details and facts throughout the trip. After a 30–45-minute ride, we spotted a humpback whale and even two whales swimming together! The whole trip lasted about 3–4 hours and was an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend Cape Ann Whale Watch! 🌊🐋
Wonderful experience! We got to see Humpbacks breaching! The naturalist was very knowledgeable and explained everything we were seeing. She knew the names of the whales. We saw a total of 4 Humpbacks. The weather was perfect and the boat was comfortable! Highly recommend!
We saw a total of 4 whales and a pod of dolphins on this trip! The staff was amazing! The boat was super clean and accommodated a lot of people very easily. Very very knowledgeable staff and very focused on conservation and education. They have a full galley that is cash only and the guy who runs it is so dang sweet!! I will definitely come back!!!
Went on 10/07/25. We had 10 humpback whale sightings and some dolphins in a pod. Absolutely incredible experience. We were on the boat around 5 hours. It was about 2 hours before we spotted any whales. Great staff. Everything was well explained and they took turns so both the right and the left side of the boat could see the sightings. The views into and out of the bay were breathtaking.
It was on the 1st Sep Labour Day and we got the ticket through group on coupn and they the slot on Monday instead of Sunday where we wanted to visit ..it was good experience.. but the journey would be not so exciting unless you enjoy the ride on the sea . The whale watch company had been very nice and gone many extra miles to try and show us the whales which fructified where we
Saw 3 instead of 1. It was nice experience .. please make sure to have some food proper if possible as it might get late .. they have some small and good cafeteria.. for those who is sea sick or motion sickness Might feel

Great experience. They did reschedule/cancel my trip twice due to possible incomming weather and I had to call both times to reschedule, but they were able to get me in last minute on what they said was likely their last trip of the season. I did not want to miss out on this as it was to be a highlight of my trip. They guarantee you'll see whales or you get to keep coming until you do which is weird because I bet a lot of their customers are traveling, but didn't have to worry about that because we saw whales. I did get nauseous at the end but it was still worth it. The announcer who talked about the whales was very knowledgeable.

Great performances and sunsets behind the stage. 4 ducks swam past at the start - “They the string quartet?” Then a fifth duck - probably the Saxophonist.

This venue is beautiful and last night when we went to see Branford Marsalis Quartet, we were at the early show and got to see the backdrop of the ocean and sailboats behind the band and it was beautiful. Usually, we are there at night. The music was awesome. Unfortunately, my only complaint is the show was one hour and 15 minutes. We both said that was the shortest show we’ve ever been to.
Went for a Pink Martini concert. Fantastic music and a joyful band. Venue is relatively small and good for music because if you sit in the side balconies you may be only able to see about 2/3 of the stage without hanging over the railing. Otherwise first floor seats and back balcony are great. Acoustics are excellent. We stayed overnight in a nearby inn so we walked to the concert. Parking is on the street and if you're late you may be in for a bit of a walk. Rockport (and nearby Gloucester) is a great town for tourists, lots of things to see, beaches and places to eat. We will go again if there's something we want to see. Get your tickets early, its a popular place.

We had a great time
Winter for an event with about 150 kids for a high school field trip. The building is beautiful and located right off the water. The staff are extremely nice and accommodating. The theater is gorgeous and well maintained. There is a local crowd that seems to frequent at the theater, which seems so fun to interact with. And everyone really enjoyed the visit. If you're in the area for an event, this is such a beautiful place to see. I would absolutely recommend for a visit.
The Shalin Center is the most beautiful performance space on the East coast. The back of the stage is glass and looks out on Rockport harbor. In the summer, when the sun sets late, you have the view of the harbor behind the musicians. Sunset is around intermission time. The acoustics of the hall are top notch.
We've been coming to concerts here since it opened. This years Rockport Chamber Music Festival is particularly fine.

Wow, what an amazing venue this place is. I was told that the old building was torn down and that they spent $20 million and 2 years building this all new structure. The quality and craftsmanship really shows through as this new space is gorgeous. If you’re looking for a wedding venue or place to perform in Rockport, this is hard to beat!
Went to see Graham Nash tonight @Shalin Liu Performance Center. Wow! First time attending this spectacular venue. Everyone was fantastic from the ushers to the 3rd Floor observation lounge. Once we took our seats in the balcony, we were mesmerized. The curtain was up so you coukd see the ocean throught the full length “window”. what a setting ! Throw in legendary Rock HOF star- Graham Nash and you have a perfect evening! Do not miss this venue, it’s a must see!

Front Beach in Rockport is a small, family-friendly spot located right by downtown. It may not be ideal for a full beach day, but it offers a nice place to admire the water and take a quick dip. The beach features smooth pebbles and is easily accessible from the sidewalk. Its size varies with the tide, offering beautiful views and serving as a picturesque location for events like micro-weddings.

Fun little spot. It is small and one of few sandy beaches in the area so it does get pretty crowded with tourists. The waves were small, but overall the beach was clean and the sand was soft.

Came out during the spring and the beach was very nice. It was cool and windy so no one else was there. A nice view of the town at night.
My favorite beach! Rockport and this beach hold a special place in my heart! It reminds me of my parents and my family and special memories all around! From the scenery, shops, history, eatery, to the culture and people! Rockport is simply one of a kind! I feel grateful everytime I visit and leave with my heart full when I leave! Small family beach but looks gorgeous on a bright sunny day. Finding parking spot on weekends is a challenge. Rockport is beautiful.
Its ok. Decent sand. Draw back was lots of flys. Small beach, street parking. Close to some art shops. A feet washing station and bathroom. Not bad for free in rockport/Gloucester.

Quaint little beach. We parked over here and then walked into Bearskin Neck’s little strip of shops. Parking sucks, and it’s a slow drive out here, but it’s worth the trip to Rockport. And you have this little beach with clean bathrooms and a place to change.

Brothers Brew is a local favorite with a homey atmosphere and the only place that was open in the historic district on a Tuesday for lunch on this day in November. They have a nice selection of offerings, some very creative. You order at the nostalgic counter and later, your name is called and your plates are delivered to your seats. We opted for a Pastrami and a Reuben, both on marbled rye, loaded with nice gooey cheese. I would have liked it better if it had been grilled with butter. Think they skipped the Russian dressing. Utz chips ok as was the sliced pickle. Nice friendly staff. We would return.
The Donuts were great, but the line was long, even though I pre-ordered I still had to wait in line for 45 minutes to pickup my order that was placed online for right when the opened, and had two hours before pickup. The guy working at the door specifically told me that I still had to wait in the line, because I did ask and tell him that I placed an online order. It was very disappointing. $26.00 for a dozen donuts that were good, and worth the money. However, they did not even get my order correct, as they were missing several of the donuts I had ordered, they filled them with a few other ones. They did not even apologize.
This establishment was amazing! We visited here for a light breakfast and coffee. The atmosphere was chill and peaceful. The food was fantastic! Try the skillets and burritos. So much to choose from!
The food was really disappointing. The beef Reuben was drenched in dressing, making the bread soggy, and the donuts were nothing special. For what we got, paying over $50 was insane. On top of that, the service wasn’t great — after waiting about 30 minutes in a long line, our order was messed up. Even though we said we were eating onsite, everything was packed in to-go bags, and no one called our name, so our food sat there getting cold. Definitely not worth the wait or the price.
A lovely Cafe and lunch place. We only went there for breakfast, but we went every day while we were in Rockport. We had lattes each day and either breakfast sandwiches or pastries. Delicious food, wonderful coffee drinks, very nice stuff, highly recommended.
All 3 lattes tasted like milk and not even a hint of espresso, and their bagel was bland. I’ve enjoyed their drinks and food before so maybe it was just a bad day for them.
The breakfast sandwiches we had were very delicious and worth every penny. Not sure if they make the bagels themselves but they tasted very fresh and unlike store bought. The iced coffee I ordered was not good. It tasted old and funky. It had a weird film on it. I bet their espresso drinks would have been much better. Go with that choice if you want coffee there.

I went to this location tonight after a long day. We ordered a latte and hot coffee. I asked about the senior discount for my mom ( today is her 67th birthday). They gave her the discount, said happy birthday, gave her a free donut and wrote happy birthday on her cup! What nice gestures and thoughtful staff!!

Disgusting when you see a nurse trying to use the bathroom and you tell her that she has to purchase something before using the bathroom knowing she really has to go. This Customer Service is disgusting and the arrogance of the staff as if I’m asking to borrow five dollars I will never purchase anything in the store ever again and I asked for my English muffin to be toasted dark and they couldn’t even get that right how about before you ask customers to purchase you make sure that you provide exceptional service and the appropriate request of food When you have customers pay to use your bathroom how disgusting that you think that we were in the city or in an area where we have to worry about crime, God forbid if you have to use the bathroom before you pay at this store the worst customer service I’ve ever had from a Dunkin’ Donuts shame on you !
Great location. Dunkin on Eastern Avenue provides quick service, good food and drinks, and great staff, too. The place was swamped when I got there, but it took less than a minute to get my order. Great place to stop for coffee and donuts.
I had a disappointing experience at this Dunkin' location on Sunday evening, Labor Day Eve. The store was relatively quiet, and I was excited after a lovely day exploring Gloucester and Rockport. I ordered two iced coffees and two donuts, and while the guy who took my order was nice and efficient, everything went downhill from there.
When I asked for a cup of water for my dog, the supposed lead or supervisor flatly refused. I've been to many Dunkin' locations where they happily provide water, especially for pets. Her response was dismissive and rude, telling me to "talk to the owner" instead of just acknowledging my request. It's baffling that she wouldn't accommodate such a simple ask.
After I left, my friend went in to ask for water for my dog, and he was met with the same hostility. This employee treated us like we were a nuisance rather than customers. To make matters worse, she threatened to call the cops because she felt "uncomfortable." Seriously? We were just trying to be polite customers!
It’s clear that this location lacks basic customer service skills, and the management should take a long, hard look at how their staff is treating patrons. I will definitely not be returning to this Dunkin' Donuts again. If this is how they treat customers, they’re doing something seriously wrong.
I think the employees are pleasant from my experience in the drive through but they NEVER stir your coffee ever.

For day 2, we recommend exploring the northwest side side of town. Start the day off with Halibut Point State Park, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to My Place by the Sea. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Halibut Point State Park in Rockport, just a 15-minute drive from Gloucester, offers stunning coastal views and a variety of activities. The park sits on 440 million-year-old granite and features wildflowers, a visitors center, sunbathing spots, hiking trails, and picnic areas. Once a granite quarry, the park now showcases the Earth's raw beauty and power.
This is a lovely hidden gem I just recently discovered. I’m spending time exploring my home state and I live south of Boston. This park is really cool north of Boston. It hits all my favorite things, ocean, nature, walking trails (short trails), lots of photo ops, and generally nice people. We brought our dog. You can walk around the old quarry and/or you can walk down to the ocean. We did both. There is also a lookout over the ocean that is cool. Parking was only $3 residents but kinda lame they ask for $20 non residents. Not sure it’s worth $20. We spent an hour here and then got lunch down the road.

Truly a must see destination in Rockport (paired with the Trustees’ Halibut Point Reservation). Breathtaking views of the ocean and the former quarry is stunning. The trails are great for running (not very long but if you do all the loops you can hit 2.5-3 miles), and are well-maintained and mostly flat.
Nice state park. You will have to pay $5 parking fee. There are portable toilets, also there is a nice visitor center built in the shape of lighthouse, with restrooms, and with picnic tables outside. The park has beautiful zone with flowers and abandoned granite quarry in 1929, filled with rain water. It's depth is 18m. The park is not big, has probably 2 trails, one around the quarry and the second leads to the ocean. You will spend there no more than an hour. We arrived there after 5pm in the mid of September. Not the best time to catch bluish hues of water in the quarry. Try to visit the park earlier during the day.
My mother and I visited this state park on Tuesday, September 30th. Unfortunately, we arrived less than 30 minutes before the sunset that the park was going to be closed. So I was quickly to see the sea and took a couple of pictures. Both the restrooms and the visitor centers are closed. I used the portable restroom next to the parking lot. Inside the toilet was having a big pile of shit but I got to go. It was a shame that I didn’t spend the time to look this park or learn the history about this state park. I would love to go back if I’ll go back to travel east.
Incredible landscapes. Very well maintained. Would highly recommend the walking trail from Halibut point to Cathedral rocks. The public walk ways are a great way to experience the the beauty of this wonderful place.
Beautiful park with nice walking paths that go to the ocean and overlook a quarry. The paths are blazed so you know where to go, and there's good signage, as well as a visitor center, restrooms, and water fountain. Highly recommend!!
I've been to Rockport many times, and I never knew this existed. What a cool place! Halibut Point State Park is an amazing park with tons of cool stuff to explore. In the middle of the park is the Babson Farm Quarry, an old quarry filled with water that is such a sight to see. There are places to view it from and go down to the bottom, but be careful as there are no guard rails to keep you from falling in. Swimming is also not allowed. Walk a little further down the narrow trails, and you'll find the beautiful sea rocks, which are really fun to explore. Beautiful views of the ocean. One of the trails leads up to the unusual summit of the boulder mountain, from which you can see Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and as far as Maine. Parking is $5 for Massachusetts plates and $20 for out of state plates. A must do if you're in Rockport!
Easy trail park with the view of the ocean or the quarry. There is a public bathrooms. Went maintain park. Plenty of parking spaces and it was free. About 10 minutes drive to downtown Rockport.

I love an old roadside restaurant. The Lobster Pool did not disappoint. Had the lobster roll and the lobster bisque, both very good. Great views dining outside. Scenic drive on the way there. Right next door to Halibut Point State Park which is also worth visiting.

Oh, they make their own delicious tarter sauce. Can't say I've ever had tarter sauce that tasted quite like this. Plenty of seating inside and out.

The lobster roll was kind of small, specially for $30. Also lacking in flavor. I wish it wash richer. The view from the backyard tables is amazing.
Chowder, Lobster roll and lobster, the place to go if you are craving some. Bring your own drink, plenty of parking, though this place is very famous because how good it is, there is a national park a few meters from it if you can’t find parking, so you don’t miss on trying Lobster Pool. Quick service, plenty of seating with a great view, and food is delicious. Fish and chips are good, the only thing I would recommend is changing the tartar sauce, it wasn’t as good, everything else just stands out.
It's one of the best sunset dinner spots in Rockport. You get to watch the sunset over the water outside. It can get windy/cold here. Food wise, it's your average fried seafood shack. Although I will want to come back to try the clams and clam chowder. I had fried scallops and chips. Which were fresh but the batter softened really quick.
We got the fried haddock and the baked halibut, both were great! Good portion sizes and the view was beautiful!

Located in Rockport, Massachusetts, the Paper House is a fascinating folk art site featuring an array of unique displays including machines, tools, and furniture made entirely of paper and newspapers. Constructed in 1922 by Elis F. Stenman using around 100,000 newspapers, this architectural wonder defies logic and showcases human ingenuity. Visitors can take a self-guided tour to marvel at the classic displays and witness how the paper walls have weathered over time.
Fascinating home built out of rolls of paper. The builder had an idea and implemented it. This is a one room home with the vast majority of items made from rolled newspaper. His process was ingenious. It is a wonder it is still standing.

It’s very interesting iconic spot to see. It took 20 years to build it. It’s entirely built by old newspapers. The owner was an engineer and he thought why not to make use of old newspapers instead of dumping them. His neighbors helped him. It’ was a painstaking job and it’s amazing how he built all that furniture and grandfather’s clock.
A must to see. There is no entrance fee just donation of 2$.
This place was so unique. This house was started in 1922, and it took about 20 years to complete everything. Around 100,000 copies of newspapers were used in the making of this house and the furniture inside. It's amazing the amount of time and thought that must have gone into creating each piece and each wall. On the outside, you can see layers of newspapers peeling back from weathering over time. On the inside of the house, there is a hole in a piece of the wall where you can see better up close how it was constructed. To be made out of paper and still be around after almost 100 years is impressive. It's definitely worth stopping by and checking out if you are in the area.
The season ended on November 1. Google still list this place as open. Waste of a trip. No parking. Very small. Location is very small. I feel like tourist makes the neighborhood inconvenienced.
This place is such a cool stop if you are in or near Rockport and like quirky things. We spent about 15 minutes here. Thanks to the owners for preserving their family history and doing such a great job of maintaining this!

A reminder of the creative corners of the human mind. I was astounded at the patience and precision used to create furniture, line the walls, and insulate, all with old newspapers. It deserves a look! Small but fascinating.
I think this unique site gets passed by ... its tucked away in a quiet, little neighborhood. The house and furniture within are made of newspaper. It's a $2 donation to visit. Honor system (there's a box on adjacent property to leave donation). You enter on your own and take your time browsing.

Really nifty place! It's unsupervised, you just let yourself in and look around the paper house. There's a $2/person donation request that's attached to the nextdoor house. Parking is street parking, but it's just a neighborhood so it's easy. You don't need to budget a ton of time for it, but it's neat! Good to swing by :D

EVERYTHING was phenomenal!!! You can't get better seafood than this!!! Everything you heard about this place is an understatement. We were staying in Rockport, but no matter where you are staying, I highly recommend you take the drive to this awesome seafood Mecca!!! Thanks for everything Ross!!!
Maybe we just had bad luck today — we came with high hopes but left a bit disappointed. The dozen oysters were definitely fresh and sweet, top quality for sure. But the three lobsters, while they looked great on the outside, were super watery inside. It was kind of shocking how much liquid had pooled at the bottom of the box — all from inside the shells. Overall, the lobsters felt pretty hollow, with barely any meat, and what was there was super salty. Compared to places we’ve been to recently in Boston and Newport, this was honestly underwhelming. Maybe we should’ve gone for the lobster rolls instead? Maybe they were slammed earlier and quality slipped, or maybe it was just our unlucky timing. Hopefully others have a better experience than we did.
One of the best lobster spots in Massachusetts! The outdoor seating includes seven picnic-style tables and a small standing area. The only downside is the very narrow walkway to the seating.
The food is excellent!! Clam chowder is thick and creamy with plenty of potatoes and not that many clams. The lobster is fresh, slightly sweet, and pre-cracked for easy eating. The lobster roll is served on buttery bread with a flavorful mix of lobster and light mayo, accompanied by coleslaw and potato chips.
I so wanted to gatekeep this place… but they absolutely deserve the love.
The price is unbeatable, the seafood is fresh and delicious, and they keep it simple—minimal cooking, maximum flavor. Everything just tastes like the ocean in the best way. Pair it with a cold beer and you’re in heaven.

Nestled on the far edge of Bearskin Neck, My Place by the Sea has been delighting diners for over two decades with its innovative American cuisine. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating with breathtaking water views that have received national acclaim. The clam chowder was some of the best clam chowder I've had in a long time. The swordfish special was fork tender, the perfect thickness, and the best flavor, and a meal that is going to be hard to beat for a long time.
The steak was also very flavorful and a great option for my landlubber date. I was allowed to try a bite of it and it was every bit as flavorful.
A dining experience to remember. I'd highly recommend it. Reservations recommended especially if trying to dine on nice evening at a 'place by the sea'.

We got a chicken sandwich that was dry and somewhat bland, a salad that seemed underdressed, and some okay fries. Probably won't go back.
Outstanding locally sourced food and innovative presentation. Beginning with focaccia and a red pepper sauce, then shrimp prepared three different ways, and an exceptional haddock entree. Not often you get great food in a tourist area, but this was exceptional. Also had a wonderful server, making for a perfect dinner. Highly recommend.

Stopped by My Place by the Sea for lunch while exploring Bear Skin Neck. The service was great and the food was delicious. Left this meal feeling incredibly underwhelmed and annoyed at the price of the bill for what was served. The cod was severely under seasoned, and the mashed potatoes were watery. It had TV dinner vibes. My friend had ordered the lobster tacos which on the other hand were over seasoned and oddly seasoned at that… for $70.
I will say, the mussels were very tasty, but again a pinch of salt goes a long way.
The view is spectacular but the food itself leave a lot to be desired. Disappointing for sure.

Went there for a chowder after our lunch. Housed in a pretty and cute building. The lady at the quick service window was nice and courteous. Reasonable pricing as you can see in the menu. Ordered a bowl of chowder. Order arrived in lightning speed. The chowder was good but not great. A little on the watery side. Taste was good. Small seating area. The tuna salad sandwich was very filling and quite large, I wasn't asked what I wanted on it but wish I asked for onion as well. The salad was a bit bland but this was surprisingly preferred, because the fries were certainly the star of the show.
They state they have the best fries in town and while I haven't tried the others, they certainly set the bar high.
The price is set accordingly to the location but it was good.
The service was great as well, the one that helped was extremely kind and ensured each customer got what they needed.

A nice place to sit down in the middle of Bearskin Neck and watch Rockport walk by. Has street seating and a few tables on the side. Decent lobster rolls. I wouldn’t necessarily rush back here to have the rolls again over other places in town but they were not bad.
If you are American: the food is good, great lobster and incredible fries.
If you are around the Mediterranean sea: seafood is just average, lobster taste is just enough. Don't expect shrimp or calamari to taste like you are used to.
But this is not the fault of this location, all the seafood is tasteless on this coast.

Oh, definitely not. At least the name is accurate.
I mean, the reviews already say it all: 4.3 stars out of ~100 reviews. Not exactly the kind of place I’d normally choose. So how did I end up here?
We actually picked Roy Moore, the spot right in front — better reviews, better vibe. Unfortunately, the passage to their back deck is so narrow that you can’t get through with a stroller. Since our infant was asleep, their staff kindly suggested we use the tables out front. Made sense to me.
What I didn’t realize is that there’s apparently a long-standing feud between these two eateries. I thought maybe they were like friendly neighbors, casually sharing space now and then. Nope.
So there we are, halfway through our sandwiches, when a gentleman comes by and politely tells us we shouldn’t be sitting there because it belongs to “Not Your Ordinary Bistro” and that they have their own back deck. I explained that Roy Moore told us to sit there since we couldn’t access the deck with a stroller. Simple misunderstanding, right?
Enter the grumpy lady. She storms over and barks: “WHO TOLD YOU TO SIT HERE?”
We calmly explained, again. Her response? Incredibly rude — essentially telling us to pack up and leave, infant and all, mid-meal.
And that’s when it clicked: their attitude explains the reviews perfectly.

Bottom line:
Not your ordinary bistro, indeed. Rude staff, hostile attitude, and zero grace for a simple stroller situation. If you want great lobster and a decent experience, just stick with Roy Moore.
Literally the best fish and chips I’ve EVER had. So good and the staff was so kind. One of the girls that worked there came out and gave my daughter and her little cousins bubbles to play with (even after they closed) and suckers too. Hands down wonderful experience. The price was aligned with the quality and generous quantities they give you for the fish and chips.
My wife, son, and I have visited Not Your Ordinary Bistro twice now. The first time we ordered the crab roll and onion rings, the second time was a fish and chips plate and their homemade lemonade.
Firstly, service is fast and friendly. They have buzzers you can hold on to, so you can still explore nearby shops while waiting for your food! A genius idea. There is no seating inside, but they do have seating outside, and we were able to secure a table on both occasions.
Secondly, the food is great. The fries really are "the best in town" as advertised - perfectly crispy on the outside and tender inside, and nicely seasoned. The crab roll was generous, fresh, and lovely. Onion rings were not overly battered and also fried to perfection. The fish and chips were also fried just right and the fish was flaky and clearly fresh. I can be critical of some tartar sauce, but the one that came with the fish was top tier. They know what they're doing. The lemonade is definitely homemade and is very good as well - perfect on a hot summer day
I don't think I will be going elsewhere for food while I stroll downtown Rockport! Highly recommended.

A Legacy Rockport business, Helmut’s Strudel has been in operation for decades! Delicious coffee and the cherry strudel is amazing! Love the deck off the back overlooking Rockport harbor. The perfect place to grab coffee and strudel to enjoy sitting on the rocks at the end of Bearskin Neck!

Wonderfully consistent kitchen and a million dollar view of Rockport Harbor, Brackett's is the perfect pre-show early dinner before catching a performance at Shalin Liu a couple doors away ( it's also great for lunch).
THE VIEW sweeps left to right from Front Beach, past the main harbor to the humble of buildings that huddle on Bearskin Neck. About half the seats have good to excellent views through the wall of windows.
THE MENU/FOOD seafood forward, always a white fish, usually a salmon dish and always shellfish including lobster. Solid New England faves at acceptable prices ($$-$). A couple of not seafood entrees. Salads, soup/chowders-- not an extensive menu but very well balanced; same with the wine list. I loved the tarragon-butter finished grilled Faroe salmon with a nice French rose; husband said his butterflied & grilled swordfish was perfection (high praise indeed as he is very picky about his swordfish!).
Staff here is always welcoming and responsive-- extra appreciated because we usually come here during the very busy pre-theatre/sunset times and staff keeps the pace and the smiles!
You won't get unusual, ultra-creative dishes here but we treasure this place for reliability, quality ingredients expertly prepared-- oh, and for THE VIEW 👍
We’ll be moving soon, so we paid a visit to Rockport to enjoy a lovely sunny day by the water. Little did we know we would discover Brackett’s. What an awesome place! The food was delicious and the view was spectacular.
1) Brackett’s Fish Cakes (a local favorite!): Homemade fishcakes served with newburg
or old bay sauce.
2) Fried Shrimp Plate.
We loved everything. Couldn’t have asked for more incredible local seafood. And the service was lovely!
Lovely spot. Wandered in from the street not expecting much, but turned out to have stunning views, as well as friendly, accommodating service and a relaxed atmosphere, varied menu (including large selection of wines, cocktails etc), and reasonable prices. No wait for a table in a day when all the pier side dining was jam packed. Would definitely return. Would be perfect during the cooler seasons also given the indoor dining but floor length windows (facing west - sunsets would be dreamy!). They were happy to seat us just for a drink and all felt very low pressure and relaxed Ample seating to accommodate larger groups also. One step inside but largely accessible/stroller friendly
Beautiful view, waitstaff were very nice but the food was not good at all. It's sad when you end up putting salt on a fish sandwich and cole slaw just to get some kind of flavor out of it.
Have been at this Restaurant many times. Seems this year, prices were higher, no tablecloths on the table, waitress was very unfriendly. Only good thing was the view.

This was the best meal on the island and it had some of the best workers as well. They gave me a very generous portion of onion rings and the chili dog was very good. There was a big problem with the register because I ordered and paid for clam chowder but they had run out, and so the kid had to refund me, and then I had to give him part of the refund back in order to pay for the chili dog. It was a disaster— but the kid handled it very well and got things back on track quickly. Then the kid needed a side of onion rings for another order but they didn’t have any prepared. I offered to loan him some of mine in exchange for another refund. He declined the offer and went back to making onion rings. He then asked us how the food was and we said that he gave us way too many onion rings. All things considered these guys were doing a great job given the circumstances. I may come back again very soon.
Afterwards we went down to the end of the bearskin neck and we met another kid climbing underneath the rocks. We saw his head sticking out and looking around in a very suspicious fashion. We thought he was hiding his stash under there so we went to take a look. He showed us that he had been mapping the caves underneath the rocks. This kid was very suspicious until we got to know him and then we discovered that he had a heart of gold. He was a good kid and spending his youth under the rocks had made him tough. Our friend went down there for a few minutes and toured a sizable length of the cave, but this was not nearly the full extent of the caves which the kid had explored. He said that when the tide was lower the caves were much more expansive. For all his faults this kid did not hesitate to help us when we needed him most. Later on we went to get an ice cream and we saw this kid riding his bike. He was talking on the phone while he steered. He looked like a young version of Bruce. Bruce is a guy who lives around here and drives around on his motorbike pretending to sing Italian music. One time my friend who lives here stopped to talk to Bruce. Overall this was a great restaurant and I may come back again very soon.

The food here is awesome! The buns are unique and delicious, any of the dogs you get will be great! I also enjoyed the cheese fries. I'm giving it 3 stars for two reasons. 1.) The payment machine they have is very slow and forces you to give a tip unless you want to manually enter a 0% tip. I don't think a place that has walk up orders should have what is a seemingly required tip. 2.) I stood around for 10 minutes while watching other orders get filled, despite my order being quite simple. After this time I asked the girl working and she immediately dished out my order. The food was very hot (and yummy!), and the staff was incredibly friendly, but they need to be more aware of what order they're fulfilling their orders. It wasn't a super busy day, so the unorganized nature of my visit was a surprise. Despite the hiccups, it was the best hot dog I've ever had!
We stopped here and ordered the kids Mac & cheese dog meal for the kids. They did NOT like it.
The Mac and cheese was pasta was over cooked, mushy, and the cheese sauce was thick and bland. They squirted processed cheese sauce on the top.
Maybe your kids will like it, ours didn't.
A little late on posting this one, since we were enjoying a perfect end to a great afternoon in Rockport, eating gelato and watching the sunset off the jetty.
These were "select" size bellies, which I guess aren't too big and not too small either, fried to perfection, with a few side dogs for the family to share.
One dog with cole slaw and BBQ sauce ( it actually works!) and the other slathered in cheese, onions, and bacon! All washed down sitting outside with a ice cold Sculpin IPA!
A true New England summer dinner, if there ever was one!
We always visit Top Dog when we’re in Rockport. Food is great and the hot dog combos are fun to try. It can definitely get a bit busy, but it’s worth the wait
Wow....just wow! The dogs are delicious, especially the Bad Dog (bacon, cheese &grilled onion!) And the Works Slider (cheddar, tomatoes, lettuce and pickle)is amazing! Can't forget the Sculpin Ipa!
This place is very good usually. However today I decided to try their lobster roll plate, at $26 - pathetic attempt at a lobster roll. Top dollar, sup par. Everything else we ordered was as usually excellent.
So glad we ditched the restaurants and ate here instead. GREAT food, good vibes from the staff. Enjoyed every bite and the wallet was happy as well.

As an almost lifelong Boston local, I sometimes forget how beautiful New England really is (like I’ll be watching a movie and think “wow- that’s a captivating location. Where did they shoot that?” Only to stop by a place like this spot to be reminded it could have been here.) I was in Rockport for work and had 30 minutes to kill and it was utterly picturesque and serene. The birds were doing their thing acoustically , the sea air was refreshing and the views of what can best be described as something like “ quintessential new english fishing town” were spellbinding. I ended up googling the red building to find out that it was called Motif #1. This little red fishing shack on Bradley Wharf has been called “the most painted building in America,” and once you see it in person, you get why. The way it sits against the harbor, with fishing boats, lobster traps, and the bay sparkling right next to it, feels like stepping into a postcard. Even though the original shack was apparently lost in the Blizzard of ’78, the replica has the same timeless, authentic feel. This was a great reminder of how lucky I am to have this kind of beauty just an hour from Boston. Whether you’re visiting New England for the first time or you’ve lived here forever, Motif #1 is (and arguably most of the Rockport shoreline) is worth the stop—it’s a perfect reminder of everything that makes this area special.
What a great little community I wish I could move here! Beautiful views and the only people that weren't nice where the Karen's walking and thought we were in their way. If you want exercise I get it but I bet all those little shops love tourists
Landmarks we Know. Back to Rockport, Massachusetts. Last time was 1979 after the Blizzard of 1978. Motif Number 1, located on Bradley Wharf in the harbor is a replica of a former fishing shack well-known to students of art and art history as "the most often-painted building in America." The original structure was built in 1884 and destroyed in the Blizzard of 1978, but an exact replica was constructed that same year. Nestled in the heart of Rockport, Bearskin Neck Country Store is a charming spot offering old-fashioned penny candy, souvenirs, and local goods like postcards and coffee mugs. The store is just a short walk from Addison Choate and features an array of unique candies, toys, and gifts that will delight both kids and adults.
You can tell they put love in this food- crab cakes & lobster cakes made flavor bombs in my mouth - each one w it’s own perfect dipping sauce - they had gluten free buns for their fried fish sandwich that was fire and their fresh dried dough w cinnamon & powdered sugar - we shared one and almost got in a fight over who ate more. Yummmmmmmmmmmmmy - oh and the lady who owns is mad cool and her Claire Danes lookalike daughter has that “star light“ quality for any directors out there looking for the next new discovery. ❤️ 😋

Enjoyed lunch on the outside deck, Food and service were great, but, beware of Rockports parking situation. Took about a half hour to find a parking spot, A parking violation ticket on my windshield, when I returned to my car. The large SUV parked in front of me blocked me from seeing a kiosk. I appealed. they declined. I won't be back, not worth the hassle and stress.
Cute Shop with many candies, but it's a tourist trap. Beware it's a trap for parents with children.
This is a store that the kids will want to visit. They have enough candy and toys to make them happy.

The sea was calm and the sun was shining, what more could we ask for? Well, a trio out to the part built sea wall to see some seals would be good, and it was.
We saw literally loads of seals on the rocks and sliding into the sea and coming over to the boat.
Coupled with a few cold beers it was a great couple of hours and we would definitely recommend it.

This is much more than just picking up some lobster traps and seeing what's inside. There are opportunities to learn about them, touch them, and more. In our case, we even found a Sea Raven inside one of the traps. After checking the traps, you take a scenic tour to explore some of the area's highlights and learn about its history. We even got to spend some time visiting a colony of Grey Seals! First mate John was very knowledgeable and loved to share his experiences along with the occasional dad joke. I would definitely take this trip again next time I'm in the area!
Giving people the opportunity to go out on a lobster boat is a great idea. The boat is relatively small, so the cruise was relaxing, intimate (a maximum of 6 guests), and we really felt connected to the water. First Mate John was friendly, funny, and full of interesting tidbits about lobster fishing. After we "pulled some traps," Captain Jim took us further out so we could see the adorably curious (and prolific), gray seals that call Cape Ann home. A truly delightful trip. We highly recommend it.
I’ve always been interested in fishing and lobster trapping, and figured I’d do this tour after it came highly reviewed. It’s located at the end of tuna wharf right beside the 7 seas restaurant and beside motif #1. Jim and John are retired school teachers who lobster trap on the weekends and take a visitors along for the ride with them. They have an old fishing boat that has a ton of charm docked right in Rockport Harbor.
I took a 3 PM tour and had a blast! Complementary beer and water make for a very fun time as well. There’s a couple seats at the back of the boat and they take you out and show you how to bait, cast, and reel the lobster traps in. We caught a few keepers as well! Both Jim and John are genuinely good people and show you a great time. They teach you about the local fishing industry, history of Rockport and Massachusetts, as well as taking you on a little ride past the harbour seals and the big lighthouse before heading back to shore. It was approx 1.5 h total, which was the perfect amount of time. We had a beautiful day on the water with ideal weather.
Thanks again for the amazing trip, I will return!
8/3/2025 - Took my 80 year old parents and what a wonderful and memorable boat ride! Captain Jim and first mate, John, were both so welcoming and kind. John made the experience extra special—he was not only incredibly knowledgeable about lobsters and Rockport’s history, but he shared everything in such a fun and engaging way. We got to see a Mola Mola fish, which was amazing, and so many big seals! It was such a fun and relaxed boat ride! I can’t recommend this tour enough—such a fun experience with such an amazing crew!
This tour has been the highlight of my visit to Rockport! You learn about lobsters, get to be on a boat, and see different marine life. I travel solo and this was a great experience. 🙂
My family had a great time on this tour. Capt Jim and John were very welcoming and taught us a lot about lobstering and the local history. Since it was early in the season they only caught one keeper that trip, but John took time to explain so much about lobster. We got to see a few seals while we were out, and cruised right by Straightsmouth Lighthouse for incredible pics. Highly recommend this tour, and will do it again when back in the area.
We had an amazing time with Capt. Jim and John! The tour was informative, exciting, warm, welcoming and just right! The boat was small but perfectly sized. We got to see seals (pups and adults galore), the breakwater, yachts, a lighthouse, the beautiful ocean and actually hold some lobsters! Will definitely recommend this to our friends. The stop at the Straitsmouth Island lighthouse was definitely a highlight of the tour. I would definitely recommend North Shore kayak to anyone interested in kayaking in Rockport.

North Shore kayak was one of the best parts of our small vacation. With little to no experience, we were able to rent two tandem kayaks and have a really great time. The owners of North Shore kayak are laid-back, efficient, and make sure we felt safe and comfortable with good instructions. Safety measures. The price was very affordable. Totally a five star organization.
We rented 2 kayaks for two hours on a gorgeous fall day! Staff recommended an area for us to check out, very friendly & helpful staff! Will come back next year! Highly recommend!
I rented a bike one week and a kayak the next. They didn't really have bikes set up for people with long legs and short arms IE women. The bike I ended up with had a rusted chain and made noise so I didn't go all that far and ended early. The kayak was much better and I did a couple of miles enjoyably , although I should have worn my kayaking shoes to help getting in and out of the kayak from the muddy shore.
We went on the coastal tour! Nice chill paddle to an island. Our guide Clay gave us some awesome information with local tips to explore Rockport. Would rent again!
I didn’t actually use bikes from this place but they were so cool about refunding my money after I realized I mistakenly booked from Camden, Maine thinking I was booking at a Rockport, Maine establishment. Whoops!! They were very nice and immediately refunded my money, no problem. I will definitely keep them in mind for next time when I’m not 140 miles away, that is.

Heard that this was a place full of good ice in the Rockport area, so I had to stop by and try it. First impression: the line was incredibly organized and not clumped, which is perfect! Though the customer service was not what I was hoping for. When I politely asked to try their Purple Cow Shake, the person at the counter got confused and spewed attitude towards me, which was something I was not pleased with especially since it was my first time visiting. After a couple of clarifications, I was able to get my order and leave. Trying the shake; it was just okay! The first couple of sips were perfect, rich and creamy, fluffy and cold, sip by sip! But as soon as I reached the end, it then started to lose that blackberry and marshmallow flavor, and then became icy and bland. Moving towards the ice cream, they look good, but portions can be oversized! There are a variety of flavors to choose from and good healthy alternatives. Overall, not sure if I’d come back, for I don’t know what the hype of this place is about. Don’t get me wrong, great selections, cute little shack, beautiful aesthetics. But things that could’ve been better are the quality of ice cream and frappes/shakes, and customer service. This place does have potential to keep improving though, so I’m not mad in the slightest bit. Keep it up 👌
It’s a cute little spot with a long line out front — lots of kids waiting excitedly by the door. Plenty of ice cream flavors and the staff was super nice. The taste was alright, but I was expecting something a bit richer and creamier.
What a cute spot! Nice staff, came by earlier in the day and it was a line out the door. So at the end of the day we saw no line! They were out of a few items my wife wanted but the good options were plentiful! I got a chocolate peanut butter was yummy! Nice place to take some pics and selfies!
The most expensive ice cream I’ve ever bought and yet… the ice cream flavour was so bland (butter pecan) may as well have been the cheapest supermarket vanilla you could find. The tiny cone was overwhelmed with ice cream, to the point it was impossible to eat as it was melting horrendously. I threw it away, an incredible waste when you consider how ridiculously expensive this ice cream was. Staff couldn’t even provide any level of friendly service either. Would never get again or recommend.
Might be the cutest ice cream shop on Cape Ann. Near the beginning of Bearskin Neck. Small building with 3 or 4 cafe tables that look into the ocean as well as a small outdoor seating area with 5 or 6 café tables with the same view. Lots of choices for delicious ice cream too...
All the ice cream here is that in which you could expect if you've visited a roadside ice cream place in New England.
My ice cream was great, though strangely there was a hunk of ice in it.
There were a couple of young girls here working hard. They were moving the line and accommodating customer requests with good attitudes. It's small and cramped and they made it work. Good to see.
That said, it's a small place. Eating options inside are limited. The view from inside out over the water is incredible. We took our ice creams away and chose to walk down the street that's lined with shops and galleries.
Tasty ice-cream and lots of options! 2 stars because the staff could be more polite and professional. They gave cut responses, no greeting/thank you, no smile, they did not look like they wanted to be there and serve customers. Maybe it was a long Sunday for them but this attitude ruins the client experience.

The woman who worked at Rockport Candle on Mothers Day May 12 2024 was outstanding!!! She made perfect recommendations, chatted about the specific types of candles, the candle making and her pride with the Comlany! We only buy Rockport candles based on their quality and unique aromas- plus they outlast any other candles we’ve ever used. The knowledge and world class service we receive in person keeps us coming back in person!!! We traveled over an hour just to buy the candles! It was the perfect Mothers Day/Birthday gift combo!!!

This little café’s drip coffee and iced lattes have their own special twist. Head toward the back and it totally opens up — there’s this cool seating area with an ocean view. You can see the clear water, blue sky, and boats just floating out there. Super relaxing when it’s quiet. It’d be even nicer if they were a bit quicker about clearing tables after people leave.
Nice cafe along Bearskin Neck in Rockport. Good selection of food and drinks with limited indoor seating, but the air conditioning was nice on a very warm day. No parking along this row of gift shops, art galleries and small restaurants.
Staff was very friendly, I got an iced caramel latte and it tasted great, and the seating area was nice and had a great view of the water. Altogether, very good experience!
My experience at this coffee shop was incredibly disappointing. Despite arriving well before closing time, the staff made it very clear we were not welcome. They were rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional — acting as if serving us was an inconvenience.
Instead of offering the full menu, they only tried to push whatever they wanted to get rid of, with zero courtesy or explanation. When we asked questions, their responses were blunt and unhelpful, with attitude that made the entire visit uncomfortable.
A coffee place should be welcoming — this one was anything but. There are plenty of spots with better coffee and respectful service. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who values good treatment and a decent customer experience.
The people are absolutely lovely! The sandwich was delicious and my cappuccino is perfect!
Always get my coffee from Bean & Leaf when I visit Rockport. Love their hazelnut coffee. Wraps are also yummy - chicken curry, especially (and it sells out!). Nice to take out or dine with a great view of the ocean. Especially cozy in winter with some soup. Love Bean & Leaf!

The dining experience provided a delightful ambiance. The deck seating, complemented by a gentle breeze, offered a relaxing setting for the meal. The culinary offerings were exceptional, particularly the fresh shrimp cocktail. The fish and chips were expertly prepared with a light, crispy batter, and the mussels, served with toasted bread in a delicate white wine sauce, were equally impressive. The Aperol Spritz was a refreshing accompaniment. We anticipate returning to this establishment.
I was served ahi tuna that was cooked into oblivion and cut into rough chunks. I returned the dish and received a new version that was maybe 10% less cooked (but still into the well done category for tuna) and slightly thinner but mangled pieces (knife not sharp enough?). The manager asked if this version was OK but given no one seemed to understand the problem, and my family members were already nearly done eating their entrees, I just accepted it. I was charged $31 for this dish. I would like to request restaurant management review with their kitchen staff how to sear ahi tuna (30-45 seconds each side on high heat) or remove ahi tuna from the menu as to not destroy any more good fish. Otherwise, the oysters and mussels we had were good and the view was pleasant. The watermelon-lime-mint cocktail I had was not good and tasted like soap. I took 2 sips and returned it but paid for it because the waiter asked me if I still wanted to pay for it which was awkward/unusual.
Shea was a phenomenal server in a spectacular restaurant. Outdoor dining in Rockport. Beautiful views. Menu has a Portuguese/Caribbean theme to locally sourced sea food. Seasonal from Memorial Day to Columbus Day. It was special.
Wonderful restaurant on Bear Skin Neck at the Tuna pier. The atmosphere is beautiful and you have gorgeous views of Rockport harbor. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is so delicious I had the Portuguese shrimp which was amazing and my wife had the octopus which was equally delicious. The prices are reasonable and they have a great wine list and a full bar, I will definitely be back to try additional culinary delights.
Nice place and I loved the Poke Nachos. Steamers were average for this area. Nice open atmosphere upstairs with nice views of Rockport Harbor. All in all a nice place with nice views of Rockport.
This place has wonderful food and cooked to perfection. The flavors were spot on and the fish we ordered was cooked appropriately. We had Connor as our waitstaff and they were attentive and did an amazing job connecting with us. They really made us feel welcome and we had a great experience. Do not miss stopping here and having a one of a kind meal. You won’t regret it.

Feather & Wedge in Rockport is easily one of the best spots on the North Shore for a seafood-focused date night. The new owner was incredibly accommodating and checked in on us multiple times to make sure everything was perfect, which says a lot about the level of care they put into the experience.
Our waitress, Heidi, was fantastic—super friendly and made some amazing recommendations that made the night even better. We started with oysters, prosciutto, and the prawn, which was highly recommended and absolutely worth it. Cocktails were solid, and once the food started landing, we switched to wine. Great call.
The salads were fresh and well-balanced, and the standout of the night was the pea soup with butter-poached lobster and bacon. That dish alone was unforgettable.
For entrees, we had the bolognese, halibut, mussels, and mushroom risotto with added lobster. Every plate was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Eating that kind of seafood just steps from the water made it even better.
The whole place gives off that perfect New England summer energy, but I’d come back any time of year. If you’re thinking about dinner plans, call your babysitter and book a table. You won’t regret it.

Wonderful dinner with my wife. The food was excellent. The service was fantastic. I especially enjoyed the atmosphere, which inspired me to paint a scene looking out onto Rockport's main street.

Came here twice on a visit to Rockport and both times were wonderful. You know you're in the right spot when all the locals show up at the end of the day to gather - the atmosphere was fun and inviting. Folks said the restaurant had new management and the food was consistently delicious. The lead bartender from Argentina had curated a thoughtful wine menu with some of my favorite Cabernet Franc from Mendoza. I tried the oysters and mussels- both were spectacular. You'll probably need extra bread to soak up all the broth in the mussels. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Rockport - I'll be back!

The venue itself was beautiful, cozy, and elegant, with incredible art that set the tone for our special celebration. Our guests raved about the wonderful experience of attending a wedding in such a stunning, artistic space. We are so grateful to RAA&M for helping to make our wedding day truly unforgettable!

In 1929, the Rockport Art Association found a permanent home in an 18th century building on Main St. Formally the home of a sea captain, an inn, a tavern and now houses a wonderful collection of art for artists and art lovers to enjoy. The Cape Ann School of Art is featured and some works by Marguerite Pearson’s Boston school of Art are shown. Many of the works are for sale and some are on display only. The Association is closed on Monday. Admission is free 10:00-5:00 and a donation box is available.
Stop in and check out some local artists! The holiday art walk is a great reason to visit off-season in December!

I liked some of the pieces at the association. I was taken aback by all the different galleries in the same proximity… then again I don’t believe it’s possible to capture the beauty of the area with just a few shops/eyes so it’s understandable.
Went for an evening art show with some friends. Beautiful buildings! Wonderful show. It was lovely to walk around, viewing beautiful art work while listening to mellow music, well performed. The cheese, fruit, and wine was a nice touch as well. But the space itself was lovely, and I look forward to seeing it during daylight some day.
On behalf of the La Vida Center, I wanted to thank you for your hospitality and collaboration in sharing your beautiful venue with the La Vida Center for our annual wine and cheese event this past Saturday. Excellent location a short walk from the lovely old fishing port town.
Only downside was that we had bought and paid for breakfast, which they no longer do, and we hadn't been pre-warned.

Sink too low and mirror too. Shower for kids size, not adults. No ice machine. Frig and coffee maker in room. No breakfast. Would notbdtay here again. Would not recommend!

Loved loved loved our stay and experience!! Everything was perfect from booking our reservation all the way through checkout. Marshall was extremely helpful and responded quickly to my questions. We stayed in the Mary Reade room and it was adorable, clean, and super comfy (bedding is amazingly soft!!). The breakfast selections to choose from have great variety and were delicious and fresh. I loved the contactless delivery and our food was waiting outside our room each morning with a fresh pot of coffee at 8am prompt. Thank you so much for the hospitality! I only wish we could have stayed in town longer.
The perfect place to stay in Rockport! Marshall, the owner took such great care of us! The room was nice with a comfortable bed and a smart tv with streaming services provided. Super walkable into town! They even provided us bikes to ride to a beach in Gloucester. Great place to base yourself if you don’t have access to a car. Would definitely stay here again!!

Tuck’s Candy Factory has been in operation since 1929, the start of the Great Depression, an amazing feat for any business to tackle. Upon walking in the door on a Tuesday in November, I was warmly greeted by a local gal and the aroma of chocolate and other sumptuous goodies was overwhelming. Artfully displayed in cases were luscious offerings. Buy a piece or a box for a friend or loved one. Even the Salt Water Taffy was appealing.

The best saltwater taffy I have ever had! I live in Dover de and visit Rehoboth beach and other Delaware beach towns regularly. Tucks Candies are above premium, made with great ingredients and I was sorry I only bought a pound. I guess I have to return to Rockport.
Tuck's was a fun shop to find cute, affordable, small souvenirs as well as the BEST saltwater taffy EVER!!! Both the young lady & older lady clerks were super pleasant, helpful, personally assisting with the things I asked about even though it was nearly closing time. Tourist spots are rarely as pleasant!
They make the candies there & had a great variety. I think a pound of taffy was $12 or $13 per pound- pre packed boxes are available or can fill a box with available flavors.

For a small candy shop, this place has some big wins; great fudge, a cool taffy machine, excellent chocolates with a variety nuts, and of course the holy grail of frozen bananas. Personally a fan of dark chocolate, others like myself will will find solace here. Fans of milk and white chocolate will also find satisfaction!

Very friendly, family-owned place. The owners were working behind the counter when I was there. The fudge is homemade and UNREAL. I’m a big fan of the Penuche flavor. The Chocolate is classic. Creamsicle is surprisingly good. Inside, the place is a little bare. But a beautiful location—a short walk down the old fishing wharf gives you fantastic views. They also have coffee, gluten-free baked goods, etc. Definitely worth a trip down historic Bear Skin Neck, imo.
I’m not into fudge but went in to get coffee after lunch. We got the elephant ear which was delicious. We also got a few chocolate clusters which we thought were coconut clusters. But they tasted like cashews. Just as we were sitting outside the store and wondering about the lack of taste of coconut, the store counter lady came out handed us a bag with coconut chocolate clusters. She said she gave us the cashew ones by mistake so these coconut ones are on the house. That was such a nice gesture.

Aside from that, the fudge sold here is fairly tasty, and there are a number of other sweets and chocolates available as well.
I love fudge, it’s usually gone within days. But this fudge is so mediocre it’s been sitting on my nightstand for a month and I haven’t eaten any since the day I got it. I got chocolate and also peanut butter. Both flavors were extremely weak tasting. Additionally the peanut butter seemed like it had been unwrapped for a while before I even received it as it was crumbling. I’ve had much better local fudge. This place does have a good atmosphere though, very old timey.

Wound up here when the place we were going was too busy, boy did that work out in our favor! The clam chowder was delicious, the scallops tender and with a perfect amount of garlic and breadcrumbs, amazing fresh clams, and cole slaw was tasty too. Service was friendly and fast.

We visited on Sunday. At 4pm when we were leaving there was a 20 minute wait to be seated. So the restaurant does not close at 4pm on Sunday.
The clam chowder was good, I enjoyed the crab cakes, and a taste of fried clams that I got was pretty good. The lobster roll, which is usually my favorite, was not great. Mayo on side as served here does not, it either has to be mixed or even better served with butter. On a side it is either dry or overly mayoed and messy. Another note that the restraint is family friendly, which also means there is a chorus of crying infants, not exactly relaxing.
Delicious fish and shrimp tacos in a cozy restaurant with a beautiful view. I wanted cole slaw but I couldn’t. Just fries. Also, the service was too long. Not sure if I will return because of the service we had.
It’s a good eatery in Rockport Center. The have good selection of seafood on their menu including Lobster and its prices are displayed on an inside board daily.We had backed scallops, backed haddock. Both dishes were delicious and tasty. It is on the water front and you can have your seat by the window and enjoy the view outside.
The service was mediocre. Our waiter forgot to place our appetizer order and when we asked about it, they simply said they didn’t even realize we wanted appetizer. The lobster roll was cold and not worth the price.
Give it a 3.5 stars. We got the fish tacos and haddock rubben rye sandwiches. Each comes of one side. The fish tacos lightly fried. It has good flavor. It also comes with tartar sauce. The cold slaw was good.
The haddock rubben rye sandwich was flavorful. Light fried haddock and the rye holds up. I would definitely get the fish tacos and haddock sandwich again. We didn't have to wait. Thr food came out fast and our waitress was atten. No outdoor seating. Parking can be tricky and it's not free.
The waitress and people here are so kind and the food is so good. I originally got the sword fish but when I didn't end up liking it she subed out my food for something I loved. Best calamari I've had in a while. Such a good restaurant beautiful view amazing food, awsome staff

Hula Moon is a new casual dining restaurant with a view of one of Rockport's many inlets. There is a bar, but we were a family with teens and didn't drink.
The restaurant is clearly in its early days and having some growing pains - it took a while to be noticed or to get a menu, and despite the low light levels, nobody ever turned the lights on.
This having been said, the menu was reasonable, and the food (both presentation and taste) we're phenomenal.
Hubby had a smash burger, both teens had pasta Alfredo, and I had veggie pasta with corn, asparagus and peas. They were presented with blue orchids on the side by a waitress who knew the menu. It came to us hot and beautifully presented.
We paid about $17 per plate for really wonderful food. Assuming they get their feet under them, there's no reason this shouldn't become a cornerstone restaurant in Rockport.
Lovely little cafe right on the water. Breakfast was delicious and perfectly prepared - bacon crispy, eggs just right and the French toast was yummy. Staff couldn't be friendlier, joking with all the regulars. Cash or Venmo only.

We showed up at 11:16, waitress came out at 11:18 and said “sorry we are closed”. We told them their website says closes 12 pm. She went on to say they shut down the grill at 11:15. Really? Very poor customer orientated. They should not advertise on the website closes at noon, everyone wants to go home, I understand, but you would have thought after 3 minutes of shutting down the grill they could have made a quick couple of egg sandwiches, unbelievable. We won’t be coming back that’s for sure.
Food - if you need to eat here go for the pancakes. The poached eggs looked to be cooked in a microwave. First time came out raw and yoke broken. Second time hard in middle yet still pretty runny on the whites.
Payment/Service - The next important point is cash only (or Venmo / check - which of course isn’t an option for those from abroad). I was told afterward it was on the special board so required a driving to get money from bank (lots of places locally discount for cash but not having an option??) The see

Cape Ann, located along the North Shore of Massachusetts, is a famous cape on the Atlantic Ocean and home to several historic towns. A 40-minute drive from Boston takes you to its southern-most area, Manchester-By-The-Sea. From there, you can explore Gloucester and Rockport along the coast or visit Essex further west. Rockport, the easternmost town on Cape Ann, features an active fishing fleet and a more laid-back and artsy atmosphere compared to Gloucester.

Do you enjoy being on the water and watching whales. If so, this is the place to catch a ride to witness whales enjoying the open sea just like you! A fabulous experience. Get Booked soon! As visitors, we did not feel welcome (June 2022). Nearly no parking, only for residents. For the beautiful beaches you (if not resident) have to register online in advance, with account and credit card. No chance to pay at the beach. It costs up to $40 a day and there is limited capacity, so you have to plan well in advance. If you want to spend only one or two hours there or if the weather is bad that day - tough luck. At the smaller beaches only parking for residents (and there was often not a single car). And the beaches are not within walking distance, you have to take the car. In general, access to the sea is difficult because of the private houses, as in many places along the coast. There are some footpaths though, but they are of little use if you cannot park there nearby. Again, only parking for residents. Admission to Halibut Point State Park for local cars $5, for others $20. Apparently they don't want tourists on Cape Ann. We will not come back. So, target achieved, Cape Ann!

We saw 6 whales. the last one was a mother and a calf and they were beautifully playing and flipping giving us delight to our eyes. Worth every penny and second spent on this. I have all my videos and pics in my mobile so could not upload it here with review. I will drop it as soon as copied to laptop.. But Cape Ann crew are professional and they know how and where to show the Whales for their passengers. They are committed and very kind with the group and whales!!
I love Cape Ann so much that i bought a house there. When I retired, i told myself that I don't have to live near work. I love my neighbors. If you don't have a resident parking sticker, they are very strict. That is the one disadvantage for nonresidents.
If you like the ocean, you will love Cape Ann. I spent many summers in Gloucester when I lived on the east coast.

Thacher Island, located about a mile offshore from Rockport, is a 52-acre island known for its twin 18th-century lighthouses and as a refuge for migratory birds. Visitors can kayak to the island for a memorable experience or view the lighthouses from Bearskin Neck or Loblolly Cove. The island holds historical significance as it was named after Thomas Thacher, the sole survivor of a family tragedy in 1635.
Thacher's woe. Island named after Thomas Thacher who was the only survivor of a family of 23 on their way to Rockport. the "Colonial hurricane of 1635" caused their ship the "watch and wait" to founder offshore. Thomas, his Cousin the minister Joseph Avery and their wives managed to make it to a rock close to shore, but a large wave swept them back to sea. The island was given to him in 1636 to compensate him for the loss of his family, along with 26 english pounds by the town of rockport.

I really like this place, it’s such a nice spot to stop and listen to the waves crashing on the rocks. There’s also a good public restroom nearby, ice cream and a restaurants. It’s a great place for a date!
I'm a serious hedge hunter who had to check out the hedges here. Great hedges if you know where to look. You could waste your time looking at the vast oceanscape in front of you while on the beach, but do yourself a favor and look behind you! Oh, those hedges! Be careful, some hedges are actually hidden behind a long hill of rocks. I'm sure they will be removing this rock hill very soon to improve hedge visibility. I also flew a kite. Would hedge again.

There is NO BEACH at this marked location. This pin on the map is actually the rocky breakwater at the end of Bearskin Neck, and is NOT Cape Hedge Beach. THAT beach is on the south side of Rockport.
Regarding this incorrectly located marker for Cape Hedge Beach, Camborne Way is private with NO beach access! I've notified Google but haven't received a response. The beach is down South St. or Seaview St. Enjoy the beach but I'm giving one star for the marker.

This is New York quality gallery in a seaside Massachusetts town. The work is geared toward a sophisticated clientele and is decidedly not a tourist gallery. I found the lack of pretension along with the knowledge of the gallery owner very refreshing.

While traveling in NE we learned of the pizza and roast beef restaurants, Rockport pizza was so amazing! We would’ve never thought to see piles of fresh sliced roast beef on a pizza! The BBQ sauce was great and the crust was as cooked to perfection crunch and chew!

First time visiting. The place was clean, staff was very friendly, and food was pretty good. My only complaint is they charged $1 for every single topping (lettuce, tomato, pickles, etc) on my sub which i thought was rediculous. It brought a $13 sandwhich to almost $20 for basic toppings and an extra sauce. They also didn't let me know these would cost extra beforehand.

Wow! We were absolutely blown away by our experience here. We'd heard the place was under new management, but we weren't prepared for how fantastic it would be. The new owner, Eli, has completely transformed this spot into a must-visit gem!
Let's start with the pizza: it is, without a doubt, OUTSTANDING. The crust was perfectly crispy yet chewy, the sauce was rich and flavorful, and you can just tell they use top-quality, fresh ingredients. Every single bite was a delight. Eli is clearly a great cook who is passionate about what he does, and it shows in the food.
But what truly earned the fifth star was the atmosphere created by the new management. Eli is such a great guy! He was so welcoming and friendly, taking the time to chat with customers and make sure everyone felt at home. His positive energy is infectious. You can tell he genuinely cares about his food and his customers' experience.
With phenomenal pizza and an owner who makes you feel like family, this has instantly become our new go-to spot. We will be back very, very soon! Highly, highly recommend!

Fleur Cuisine Harborside in Rockport is a fantastic spot with a nice view, great staff, and amazing food. The appetizers like plantains, corn, and clam chowder offer lovely pairings of flavors. The entrees including seabass, lobster burger, and chicken are all top-notch. Visitors praise the best clam chowder ever tasted and the amazing lobster ravioli served in a delicious cream sauce.
My husband and I started our feast with the most amazing coconut shrimp, which left us wanting more! Then we dove into some zesty chicken wings, which really packed a flavor punch! For our main courses, we treated ourselves to the luxurious Lobster Ravioli, which was flavorful and had the most divine pasta. Every bite felt like a little celebration, and we were blown away by how delicious everything was!

This joint is top notch. We came here three times during our week vacation, because the service, the food, and the atmosphere were always welcoming and high quality.
Manny and Shawn (Sean?) took care of us during our stay. The restaurant definitely has a family run vibe. The menu is diverse and phenomenal. I highly recommend the lobster ravioli, or the overboard burger. The coconut cake was amazing. The pineapple upside down cake was next level, and Manny said that it is just like he used to have it when he was a kid/reminded him of his childhood. That sold me. It was a great experience overall, and I'm not being hyperbolic when I say I would come back to Rockport literally for this restaurant.
We decided to go here on a whim and we were all so happy we did! I got the Lobster Ravioli, which was my first time having lobster and it didn not disappoint, I think I'm a fan now! Our waitress Jamie was wonderful, she had such a fun personality and made the evening so enjoyable. We sat on the patio and it was such a wonderful vibe to sit by the ocean. It was pretty chilly but the heaters worked wonders. Was a fantastic experience, a must try!
Had an amazing lunch at this restaurant. Everything we ordered was fantastic. We started with a cup of Clam chowder and the power salad. Then we ordered Hannah’s vegetarian pasta with Lobster and the Sea Bass. Both are fantastic. The pasta was loaded with Lobster and the Sea Bass was cooked perfectly on top of spinach and and garlic mashed potatoes
We recently spent the weekend in the area and this was by far the best food we had. The whole snapper was delicious and probably ranks in the top five fish dishes I’ve ever had. The atmosphere was great and service spot on. I definitely recommend eating here!
Tonight was our first time here. The food was exceptional. The staff was amazing but the food was so good. I would recommend the wings, street corn, Chilean sea bass, and pinapple upside down cake. You will not be disappointed. Enjoy.
Hidden gem in rockport! The service here was fantastic. Our server was so sweet! Clarissa I think her name was.
We had the best lunch. I was super hungry so we got the caprese salad and the coconut shrimp. The coconut shrimp was sooo crispy and delicious! I got the lobster roll and my husband got the grilled chicken sandwich which was soooo juicy and tender and delicious. For dessert we got the blueberry cheesecake and the pineapple upside down cake!
Our server Lisa was really nice and attentive. One of the best clam chowders I've had, it's got a kick to it and it was delicious. The overboard burger with lobster on it was AMAZING!
