Doheny State Beach is a charming beachfront park situated near the scenic San Juan Bay, managed by the State of California. Accessible via Dana Point Harbor Drive and Park Lantern, it features two distinct public beach areas divided by the picturesque San Juan Creek. The beach offers opportunities for swimming, beginner surfing, and stand-up paddleboarding with gentle waves from the nearby bay.
This is such a beautiful beach, and park. Great camping amenities. My favorite thing about it is the covered picnic areas with grills, and fire pits. I attend 12 steps meetings here and absolutely love the energy with the ocean in view, it's a wonderful location to focus on recovery.

again, I'm not your typical reviewer who gives out 5 stars like free bottle water... it must meet all categories for a park to be considered superb. 1. ample parking! and also for motor home and trailers 2. Great walk paths within the park and extending south to capristrano beach, in and put of the water canal trails leading to mission viejo. for all bikers, Joggers runners and walkers. 3. a great eatery thats seeves beer and drinks and local plates right on the besch front. 4. tables and grills are widely available 5. life guard stations manned and ready 6. break water that's accessible and provides extraordinary views sounds and resting points. 7. for all ages, kids adults and for seniors. 8. surfing, paddling, swimming and sunbathing 9. downtown area provides places to grab some grub siteseeing , and window shopping 10. couple hours of entertainment for the family or by yourself a strong 4.5 to 4.75 missing... beach firepits, water fountains and more shower spots closer to the beachfront .

We had such a wonderful time at Doheny State Beach! We came with our 3-year-old son and it was the perfect spot for a family day. The beach is clean, safe, and easy to access. The waves near the shore are gentle, which made it great for little ones to splash and play without us worrying. There are plenty of picnic areas with shade, which made snack time and breaks really comfortable. Our son loved running around in the sand and watching the surfers further out in the water. The bathrooms were well-kept and convenient to get to, which is always a huge plus with a toddler. We also appreciated the family-friendly atmosphere—lots of other kids and families enjoying the day, but it never felt overcrowded. It’s such a relaxed environment, and parking was simple too. We’ll definitely be coming back. Doheny State Beach is now one of our go-to spots for a safe, fun, and stress-free beach day with our little one! 🌊☀️👶

We stopped there during our morning walk to the beach, and while used to the coastline beaches, we really enjoyed our time here. Besides being conveniently located within Dana point, it has a decent surf spot, highly frequented though and a few good amenities (picnic area, toilets…) - there is also a large paid parking in case you drive down there.
Guillaume B — Google review
Beautiful beach, clean, safe and easily accessible. The waves are not too strong and there are some volley ball courts on the smaller side of the beach. Picnic tables are on the lawn side. Great spot!
Maud C — Google review
There is a lot to love about this beach. Super clean restrooms, easy access to the cafe, loads of picnic tables and bbq pits, and more. We absolutely loved our time here and will be coming back. The only knock is the beach is very rocky if you plan to get into the water you need booties.
James R — Google review
Beautiful clean place. The staff here is on the money when it comes to keeping the areas maintained along with the people. No craziness here. Everyone kept to themselves and maintained a great environment for everyone

Spent the night in my van at the campground. I had a doctors appointment in Laguna and instead of driving home, hour and a half, I spent the night and metal detected. I had a front row, closest to the water, about $75. Worth every penny. I managed to get about $3 back metal detecting 😂😂 _/🚶🏽.

Beach
Salt Creek Beach is a picturesque sandy beach in Dana Point, South Orange County. It's a popular spot for surfing and swimming, with its small offshore reef creating excellent swells. The beach offers stunning views of the coastline and Catalina Island. Visitors can enjoy walking along the bluffs or exploring the scenic tide pools located south of the main beach. Additionally, there's a boardwalk that stretches from The Strand to Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach, providing ample space for relaxation and group gatherings.
Do you want to relax and be in contact with nature? Walking at night is also wonderful and with the light of the full moon it is even more enchanting. That's why I decided to show a little of this experience.

Super clean and beautiful beach that has a large and cheap parking lot. Came here for sunset and it did not disappoint. There is a nice grass hill as well if you do not want to watch the sunset on the grass. The waves were large and the sand very soft. There were lots of people just chilling, walking around, and playing sports.
Shawn S — Google review
This is a beautiful hidden beach. You park in a large lot off PCH and take a walk downhill. First you go through a tunnel. On the other side is a large grassy are with picnic tables, BBQ, and a basket ball court. After going down some stairs you will see the snack bar. Off to one side are showers, the other side are the restrooms. The beach is just below. The beach is small and beautiful. They have lifeguards here too. There's BBQ"s on the beach area too. This is a great place to spend the day.

Great beach Parking can get busy on the weekends Great patch of grass to lay out w/ shade from the palm trees
Alex H — Google review
Went to this beach for the first time. Absolutely beautiful. The walk from the parking lot down to the beach was a little long and downhill but so worth it. Idk if it was because it was during the week but it was not crowded and plenty of parking. There is a large grassy area. The walk back up hauling stuff was a pain so be prepared. We took a wagon and an ice chest with wheels which I would highly recommend. My sister-in-law did say on weekends it does get packed so plan to get there early.

The Coach House Concert Hall, located in San Juan Capistrano, is a legendary and intimate music venue known for its low-key vibe and full dinner menu with cocktails. It has been a launching platform for aspiring artists and a home for well-established musicians. The venue offers great acoustics, good food, exceptional service, and reasonable prices. While the food and alcohol are on the expensive side, it's worth it for those who enjoy live music.
Classic music venue that I have been going to my whole life. Seen so many good shows here and it’s always a pleasure to come back and have a good night. Always try to make a reservation early and get a good seat.

The mecca of cover bands and historic singers songwriters and concert hall for all; San Juan's diamond in the rough offers bands and events of all kinds. I was invited by bass player Mikhail, to the U2 experience and boy was it an experience!!! They also included a Cold play tribute that was to die for! The lead singer was awesome and the coach house was packed! 400+ppl, not bad crowd for a Thursday date night!! Can't wait till this band plays again!!
Cheriyon T — Google review
We thoroughly enjoyed Judy Collins at the Coach House! The venue is intimate and the perfect place to see a legend. We enjoyed her stories and humor. Her voice was amazing, still has those crystal high notes. The service and food were great too!
Gale B — Google review
Great venue for live music, with an EXCELLENT sound system (and a clearly talented sound crew). The food and drink are a little expensive, but I suppose that's par for the course for any establishment like this one these days. And, you're not going for the food anyway!

Let me start off by saying my husband and I go to the coach House often, we have seen some great shows. Saturday, September 6, 2025. We did a spur of the moment, buy some tickets to see Devon Allman. Almond Brothers are one of many favorites for my hubby. I went along for the ride lol. I knew nothing of him. All I knew, he’s the son of the late, great! Greg Allman. Let me say!!This was one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen at the coach house. I wish I can remember all the names. The opening act was a young lady very bayou southern, Who was a one Man band. She had that sultry, Bluey, rockabilly style. Great opener for what was yet to come. Then, Devon Allman and his fantastic band started to play. All I can say is WOW. 🤯 They were all so amazing, at one point there were 11 people on stage, calling in fellow musicians Who has played with the best of the best. I can’t begin to tell you how interactive, entertaining they all are. Devon’s voice is amazing as well as all the other appearances. Such talent, All on one stage. Everyone absolutely loved what they do and it showed. Again, Can’t recall all the names. There was a black gentleman who can play and sing like nobody’s business. The new B.B. King. He sang my favorite song, soul shine.. There’s a black lady Who has the voice of an angel, When she sang, you felt it. All I can say is…if you have the opportunity to see Devon Allman.. Don’t miss it! If you weren’t a fan, you will become one. My husband and I have been to many concerts, and have paid a lot of money for some big named bands. I tell you, you can’t beat the coach House for the best intimate seating. Hoping they bring some more big names in. Hats off to the coach house for the many years of bringing great talents to our city. I have to add in… with a full house, you get great service, can be a little pricey, But we enjoy their steak dinner 😋 My cocktails were pretty good too 🥴 let’s see if I can add some clips

My wife and I have never had a bad meal yet. We’ve had the chicken, filet mignon, New York steak, swordfish etc. All meticulously prepared to order and delicious. We’ve seen Spyro Gyra, Bacon Brothers, Piano Guys, Super Diamond and others. Fantastic shows. Super service and loads of great fun. These pix are of Super Diamond on 8/23/25.

I have never seen Judy Collins before, just admired her from afar! Wonderful venue, great sound, dinner before was delicious too!
Cecile F — Google review
They have a good selection of bands for the area, which is the major plus for this venue! The house band is also good! The local band that played before the house band was horrible, so I don't recommend being there early. The seats are uncomfortable and there are too many people squeezed in at each table. We gave up our seats close to the stage and went back to the bar. They wouldn't have to require a minimum food purchase if the food was good.

Historical landmark
Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano is a national shrine modeled after the Great Stone Church. Completed in 1986, it serves as the local parish and hosts regular masses. While there are no tours available, visitors can appreciate the art and architecture inside. The church offers ample seating and impressive acoustics, making it a popular venue for events like weddings. Although closed on Mondays, this site is worth visiting to admire its opulence and attention to detail.
Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano, located at 31520 Camino Capistrano in San Juan Capistrano, California, is a remarkable testament to historical architecture and spiritual significance. Completed in 1986, the basilica was thoughtfully designed to mirror the original 1806 Great Stone Church, which suffered destruction in the 1812 earthquake. This modern reconstruction serves as a vibrant parish, offering regular Mass services and housing a parochial school. Its designation as a minor basilica in 2000 and a national shrine in 2003 underscores its importance as a pilgrimage site and a center for community worship. Visitors and parishioners alike are drawn to its serene ambiance, rich history, and the active role it plays in fostering faith and education within the community.

We stopped in for a few minutes while in town for another activity. We are so glad we did. Each of the children did Mission projects while in school. It is a blessing to be able to stop by and look at history.

Beautiful church with great art and architecture. A great place to pray or simply relax. Note: This is NOT the original mission built in 1776. For that you have to walk down the block and pay the admission fee. The basilica church is free to enter and is an active parish.

Big church in the Spanish style. Beautiful golden altar. It had a feel of Europe meeting the New World. Church is free but $18 if you want to visit the museum and old mission grounds. Lots of restaurants and souvenir shops around and more on the other side of the train tracks on River Street

And very beautiful Church. It makes it easy for praying, that is raising your mind and heart to God. The retablo is very much like one that you would see in an old European Church. French restaurant
L'Hirondelle Restaurant, meaning "the little swallow" in French, is a charming Belgian-French bistro located across from the San Juan Capistrano Mission. The restaurant offers classic dishes such as beef bourguignon and New York strip in a black-peppercorn-and-brandy sauce. Guests can enjoy dining in the cozy interior with vaulted beamed ceilings or on the lovely patio surrounded by bougainvillea.
Once you open the door you are instantly transported to the country side of France, small cozy and welcoming with the decor as you'd expect in a family owned French restaurant. Food was absolutely perfect, the Beef Bourguignon was tender and pulled apart with ease and the flavors were true perfection. The Rainbow Trout was also delicious, tender fish with the perfect amount of flake and crisp. Service was a 10/10! Welcoming, knowledgeable and genuinely made our dining experience amazing. We can't wait to be back and share this place with our family and friends! We did not need a reservation. Wait time as Avery little. Parking was available (not free).

To die for!!! As a French native, I’m usually wary of trying French restaurants… but L’Hirondelle is leagues above the rest on so many levels. First and foremost, the ambiance is lovely, quaint, and cozy. You slip right into a space that feels elevated while still remaining warm and inviting. The next thing I have to mention is the staff. We had the pleasure of being served by Josh, the owner’s son in law, who was such a delight! He made us feel right at home and was very kind and attentive. We would come back just for the wonderful service. Lastly, the food. WOW. If I could give more than five stars, I would. We had the pâté/cheese/fruit plate to start and an order of the escargot…which turned into two orders simply because of how out-of-this-world delicious and authenticity French they are. I won’t be ashamed to admit, we contemplated on a third order! We had the duck breast and petrol sole for mains, also delicious. For dessert, a perfectly crafted and visually pleasing crême brûlée. Chef’s kiss! We will definitely be coming back again and again. Thank you, L’Hirondelle!

Forest time at a French restaurant and it makes me want to visit the country. The staff was friendly, the tables were cozy and made it easy to visit with other like they do in Europe, at least that is what I was told. The French soup and petite rack of lamb from this place would be my last meal.

A most wonderful dining experience! We have been coming here for many years and it has consistently served delicious dishes, provided fantastic service, and offered a fabulous wine selection. Do not miss the Pate, Cheese, and Fruit board. My favorite meal is the Duck Salad. It is always hard to decide whether to sit indoors or outdoors since both settings are uniquely beautiful and comfortable. Ali is the most gracious and knowledgeable host and the staff is superb. I make the trip from Los Angeles to Capistrano several times a year with friends or family just to enjoy this excellent restaurant. Leave room for dessert!

Great place to dine, nice food (tarragon chicken is top notch) , and very attentive and responsive staff. Whenever I'll be driving back from San Diego, or just happen to be in the area, I'll certainly grab a seat and a plate here.

L’Hirondelle Restaurant is pure charm in every sense! The moment you step inside, you’re welcomed by an elegant, European-inspired atmosphere that feels timeless. The food is outstanding—beautifully prepared, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with a fine selection of wines. The service is warm, attentive, and makes the whole dining experience feel special. Whether it’s a romantic date night, a family celebration, or just treating yourself, L’Hirondelle delivers sophistication and unforgettable flavor. Truly a gem worth discovering! 🌟

Owner is super engaged very proud of his beer, wine, and food, as he should be. It's a romantic eclectic environment which was nice for my wife. If I didn't know where I was it could have been a side street by the river Seine. Their escargo, French onion, and warm spinach and bacon salad were as good as any I've tasted outside Paris.

Perched on the picturesque coastline, The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel offers a luxurious oceanfront retreat with stylish rooms and suites. The resort boasts a lavish spa offering unique treatments like the Pacific Wave massage and Coastal Illuminating Facial. Guests can also partake in eco-adventures at the Eco-Adventure Center led by expert naturalists, featuring whale-watching excursions, sea hikes, bodyboarding trips, and an Eco Artist program.
Had the most incredible stay to celebrate our engagement. The recently renovated rooms are really nice and modern but still feel like a Ritz Carlton. The service was amazing and couldn’t walk around for too long without someone approaching us and asking if we needed anything. But I will say the highlight was booking Ian at Atventure for a complimentary photography session. He captured shots that our friends told us belong in a magazine. Definitely recommend working with him as we went in thinking we would barely have 10 photos we wanted to purchase, but left having a hard time cutting our favorites down to 20. All around a great trip. Can’t wait to come back!
Natalie J — Google review
The service has completely gone downhill for the money that they demand. This was closer to a low-tier 4-star hotel experience. They’ve clearly prioritized corporate events over individual stays/retreats. Our room was located right behind a boombox where they were hosting events in the evenings. We could not enjoy our “beach view” staring at the back of people and a boombox blasting into the night. If you text the valet like the ticket says to, the valet ignore it and you still have to wait for your car at the entrance (even if they’re not busy). We requested a simple accommodation for a child, which was ignored and not done when we arrived. A deep tissue massage at the spa is a borderline scam. It’s 300% priced over market and the massage was more like a light body touch rather than a deep tissue massage. We complained about all of this and they simply ignored our complaints like it didn’t happen. We’ve come here for more than a decade as a retreat, however the service has degraded so much that we will not be returning.

You’re not going to be mad about any part of this hotel. However, there are a few bright spots that deserve recognition! Joel, at Raya, is simply one of the greatest servers I think we’ve ever dined with. You are going to want to request him when you eat here. He is exactly what I imagine the Ritz Carlton hotels have built their reputation on. By the end of our lunch (we ate there several times after becuse he was so kind to us), we literally felt like he was one of the best parts of the stay. Way to go. Overall great hotel and super convenient.

Breathtaking Views and Exceptional Service The Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel is one of those places that never fails to impress. From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted with warmth and professionalism that immediately makes you feel at home. The ocean views are absolutely stunning, and every corner of the property is immaculate. The service here is consistently top-notch — everyone you encounter is friendly, attentive, and genuinely cares about your experience. Whether you’re relaxing by the pool, enjoying a drink on the terrace, or taking a stroll along the beach, everything feels effortless and perfectly curated. It’s the ideal mix of laid-back coastal California and refined luxury. My wife and I always leave feeling relaxed, refreshed, and already planning our next visit.

We had a wonderful experience at this location, which is perfectly situated on the water. Amazing views, interior design, and conveniently on a trolley stop if you like that sort of thing. Very kid-friendly. Most of our staff experiences were very good, but we did encounter some staff who didn’t seem very customer-service oriented (at the outdoor dining location and near the beach chair trailer), and the property needed more tending at times (e.g., towels left on top of a garbage and an old French fry on the ground for days, etc). For the brand and price, we would have expected more consistent excellence. However, we still had a wonderful time here and felt the location was incredible. Some of the staff at the pool and in the lobby/reception area were incredibly kind and helpful.

We had a wonderful stay for two nights to celebrate our joint anniversaries for us and our family members who also booked their rooms on same nights. Beautiful location, bars, and restaurants. Outdoor bar facing the Pacific Ocean can get busy and full during sunset hours - perhaps by non hotel staying guests. There was a huge wedding going on outdoors under our window/balcony facing the beach on hotel premise for few hours during the day but it did not bother us. September can be a busy wedding month.
Nasu D — Google review
One of the best hotel stays we have had in all our travels. The staff were all excellent and accommodating as one would expect. Rooms were beautiful, views were beautiful, on property dining was very enjoyable. Of course for the Ritz, it’s not for those who are budget conscious.
Eric M — Google review
If you’re looking for a peaceful luxury stay, this is not the place. This hotel is an event venue first and a luxury hotel second. Nearly every night there were loud parties on the lawns that went late into the evening — not only making it impossible to relax, but also completely ruining what should have been a beautiful view. I will never stay here again, and I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you’re expecting a true luxury experience.

I booked my rehearsal dinner here and it was the best experience. The food was phenomenal and the staff were excellent. We had the banquet room and had a beautiful view of the harbor. My husband and i are already making plans to come back soon. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone.

The Miso cod was also delicious if you prefer your fish in a sweet glaze. Salmon is also good as it is basic. And then our entree took a little longer to be serve for whatever reason. Order there sundae if you have a sweet tooth. It’s a huge serving and its good for sharing.

This is a great place to eat after your whale watching trip! We were seated right away and the hostess was very nice. They seated us on an outdoor patio that was somewhat enclosed but quite cold since we went in late December so we actually asked to move tables to be warmer. Our server was awesome and super charismatic! 5 stars for the service for sure. We felt the food was a little overpriced for the portion sizes. But everything we got was great quality and delicious! I'd recommend going here.

Great location, right at the harbor end, with a second floor for even better views. Fish & chips, flaky fresh fish, lightly battered and fried, delicious! Fries though were average. The steamed clams were good, mussels were not as fresh. The scallops were huge and pretty tasty, but the clams were all overcooked and became quite tough!

Awesome food and service. I have dined here many times. The cocktails drinks are great too. Try the Sunday brunch buffet if you are seafood lover. Can't go wrong with that. Eat your meal, sit back, enjoy the views of the harbor and watch the Catalina express ferry load/unload passengers!

The ousters were on the small side, but they were good. The kids liked the coconut shrimp and the mussels. The mussels had a basil based sauce. It wasn't thrilling nor was it bad. My wife had the burger and enjoyed it. The kids also liked the kids burger and Mac and cheese. My friend didn't like the fish and chips. I had the blackened tuna. I didn't like that the shishito peppers, which were nicely charred, were then covered in the sauce. That made no sense. The sauce was decent. In all, I don't know if I would recommend the place, but I wouldn't not recommend it either. It was okay to good.

Our favorite happy hour spot - luckily very close to our home :) The views at sunset are so calming The oysters are always great and happy hour prices are the best I’ve seen out here (I do miss New York City dollar oyster options) Coconut shrimp is solid Wings with buffalo sauce are a bit on the hot side but nice and meaty and they do have a bbq option Ahi poke dish was solid as well Drink options are great at only $6 a pop, nice and tall. Just had one yesterday, vodka, basil, grapefruit and st germain - nice and grapefruity as we don’t like anything too sweet.

Food is tasty, cocktails are good, but mostly you go here for location. We used to frequent their brunch pre-covid. This last trip though was a little disappointing. We had a great view and could even hear some of the nearby concert. Our server was kind and polite. With that said, the extra charges were kind of crazy. An extra dollar for a couple berries in a vodka soda, uh okay. Then I ordered my salmon with no potatoes just veggies. Somehow that turned my $31 meal into a $35 meal. $4 for no potatoes? First off, I didn't say extra veggies and if that's what the server thought I meant a "hey sure but there's an upcharge for that" would have cleared that right up. Didn't really have the time or energy to complain about $5, but still kind of excessive. Overall still good, just be wary of any special requests.

Restaurant
Located in the charming Dana Point, Whitestone Restaurant & Bar provides an intimate and inviting dining experience, emphasizing seasonal ingredients and sophisticated flavors. Their menu features a fusion of New American cuisine with European touches, highlighting locally-sourced produce and artisanal components. The restaurant offers a diverse selection of dishes ranging from elegant starters to hearty main courses. Additionally, the adjacent bar serves craft cocktails, wine, and small bites alongside a happy hour on select days.
I happen to find this place by chance on PCH in Dana Point. ordered the sun kissed scallops and while waiting for my meal, the waiter threw a complementary loaf of bread on my table. Needless to say the meal was amazing but the bread is what made me take my wife back to try. Now anytime we are in Dana Point. We have to stop here! The cuisine is exceptional! Massimo and Austin, and all of the staff make you feel as if you’re at home without having to do the dishes. If you’re lucky enough to make it during happy hour, try the fish tacos! If you want an exceptional seafood meal in Dana Point, I highly recommend this place!

My wife and I recently had our rehearsal dinner at Whitestone Restaurant and Bar, and it was an absolutely amazing experience! From start to finish, Nader and the entire team went above and beyond to make our evening perfect. The food was amazing, the restaurant itself is beautiful, and the service was truly A+ plus. Every detail was handled with such care and professionalism, allowing us to simply relax and enjoy this special occasion with our loved ones. If you're looking for incredible food, a fantastic atmosphere, and unparalleled service, you absolutely need to come here. Thank you again, Nader, for the amazing experience. My wife and I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out!

What a great experience! My wife and I stopped by for dinner tonight and everything was spot on. We were greeted with smiles and hello's by every staff member on our way to our lovely booth. The 2 servers couldn't have done a better job. And to top it off, our meal was delicious!

I was expecting more and found it was just a regular restaurant like Applebee's or Olive Garden. The front door had to be manually closed, my reservation had me at one table, and I was shuffled around to accommodate someone else. I expected more from the steak I ordered (meh), not vegetables came with my steak dinner, so the side order was $14 (unbelievable). I was placed in a 2 seater corner booth close to the front door after being moved, and walk-ins received better seats than my reservation. Let's just say, as a high level Google reviewer, this is one of my lowest marks. There is little to No chance I will probably return. And maybe not have the Hostess in a dress and dirty sneakers. I Do Not recommend this establishment for local or visiting patrons.👎🏾 Response from the owner an hour ago Dear Guest Anthony, We are genuinely sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We strive to provide top-notch service and food to all our guests and deeply regret if we fell short. We appreciate your feedback regarding the seating arrangement and our staff's attire and will undoubtedly take these critiques into consideration for improvements. As for the steak dinner, we're saddened to hear it wasn't up to par and will address this with our kitchen team. We want every guest to leave our restaurant satisfied and we're sorry we missed that mark with your visit. We hope you might reconsider and give us another opportunity to turn your experience around in the future. Sincerely, Whitestone Restaurant & Bar Though I appreciate your response, but as the owner, your control is limited day to day. I believe it was the General manager who moved me and was less than cordial. As business owners we can become complacent and detached from our original purpose. Undercover Boss became popular for a reason and had heartwarming stories, but there were also some dark stories we don't usually speak about. The only suggestion I have is to pass out review cards for visitors and see if my assessment was accurate and adjust as you see fit. As a retired disabled veteran that has traveled the world and eaten in many countries, I always expect the best when I am at home. I wish you the best on fixing these issues. God speed!

The server was not paying attention to my table at all. We asked for a dessert menu, he brought the menu and left us hanging 10-15 mins without checking on us. He went to the bar and had a beer and chatting with his coworker. Also heard conflicts between servers, that was mood killing. The food was okay, not so special for the price we paid for.

Northwest side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northwest side side of town. Start the day off with Mission San Juan Capistrano, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Trevor's at the Tracks. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Mission San Juan Capistrano, a landmark Spanish mission founded in 1776, is a must-visit for anyone interested in California's rich history. With historic exhibits, cultural events, and a gift shop, the site welcomes over 350,000 visitors annually. The mission was originally founded by Saint Junipero Serra and features a museum, gift shop, cafe, and an iconic bell wall that is still rung daily.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mission at San Juan Capistrano The Mission at San Juan Capistrano is hands-down one of the most romantic venues in California. Its history and architecture bring so much character to every wedding. The aged stone walls, grand arches, and blooming gardens are a photographer’s dream. There’s a sense of timeless beauty here that makes every couple’s gallery feel both historic and personal. It’s the kind of place where love stories become art. ✨ If you’re drawn to the beauty of San Juan Capistrano, I’d be honored to capture your wedding in such an extraordinary setting.

This is a good place to visit if you are interested in California mission history. The original building was destroyed by an earthquake in 1812, and the church ruins and a variety of other original elements remain. Renovations in the 1970s brought reproductions of the many buildings, rooms, and a small chapel. There are beautiful gardens, and a museum gift shop. The swallows don't visit like they used to due to so much activity in the area. It cost $15 to enter, and we were there for about an hour

Alright California!! This Place is Cali Gold. The Historic Value of this place is Second to None. There is so Much History in its relationship to the Development of California. The grounds are very very well kept and the Guided tour is a must to get the most out of this Mission. Visit the Chapel on sight and the Ruins of the Original Chapel. Wow it's incredible. Great for Photos, a Date Day, and exploring for the whole family. Don't miss it. It's incredible and a must see for everyone!

We had the opportunity to photograph S & K's first look at Mission San Juan Capistrano, and it was truly a dream setting for capturing timeless portraits. From the soft stone textures to the iconic arches and bell wall, every corner of the Mission offered a stunning visual backdrop. The light was beautiful throughout the day, filtered, warm, and natural, ideal for both candid and editorial shots. There’s a peaceful, historic charm to the space that elevated the emotional energy of the first look, creating a moment that felt private, sacred, and cinematic. We would highly recommend the Mission to couples looking for a location that combines California history, natural beauty, and elegant architecture. It’s a gem for storytelling. — Anastasia

What a beautiful, well maintained mission! Although there is now a fee to enter, it’s well worth the price. You can spend an hour or a day just walking the gardens and visiting the chapel. At the exit, there is a church store fulled with books, cards, collectibles, and other artifacts. It’s a fun outing! We are glad we took the time to visit!

This is such a beautiful mission. My kids had a fun time walking/running around and exploring. We were on vacation for my son’s Birthday and they gave us a discounted price because of that ❤️ Some of the areas were not easily accessible with our stroller - so my husband and I had to lift the stroller and carry it up the stairs to get around to the area on the path (the walkway was blocked due to set up for an event). Thankfully we could do that. We probably spent about 2 hours here. I do want to revisit with my kids and see the things we didn’t spend much time looking at. There is plenty of parking around - outside you just have to drive around to find it.

This is a beautiful and well taken care of Mission. Lots of stories told here about the indigenous people and how this Mission was successful and created things for trade. This place takes you back in time and explains the story of the swallow. I live in the area now and bring friends here to enjoy the beauty!

Barbecue restaurant
Heritage Barbecue, located in San Juan Capistrano, offers a Texas-style BBQ experience with a rotating menu of sides. The restaurant is designed for pandemic compliance, featuring an outdoor operation with picnic tables for seating. It shares its outdoor patio with Capistrano Brewing Company and has gained a cult following for its small-batch, hand-crafted meats cooked on outdoor smokers.
Heritage Barbecue definitely lives up to the hype! The wait was about 1 hour and 20 minutes, but so worth it. The food was absolutely delicious, flavorful, tender, and clearly made with care. If you’re a barbecue lover (or even if you’re not), I highly recommend giving it a try. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait ,it’s popular for a reason!

I wanted to like this place. With all the hype. Everything thing I tried was just mid tier. The brisket was okay at best. The pork spare rib was really tender. The char siu was tender but lacked flavor. Cheddar jalapeno sausage was average. The brisket beans and mac & cheese were nothing special. Hot cucumber was overly salty. The people work there are great! The wait on a Saturday was just over an hour.

Smoked out Sundays done RIGHT! We hit up Heritage Barbecue in San Juan Capistrano to feast on BBQ. 🥩 Juicy brisket, massive dino ribs, tender pulled pork, spicy hot sausages, loaded nachos and fall-off-the-bone spare ribs — we feasted like true Texans... but in SoCal style. 🤠🍖 If you're a BBQ lover, this spot needs to be on your bucket list. Only downside was the almost 2 hours line.
Abe S — Google review
Fantastic bbq that is tender and falls off the bone! Slow cooked in their smokers and has great flavor! Get there early because the line gets long! We got there about 15 min before they opened and waited an hour and a half but it was worth the wait. The owner is really nice, service is excellent and food is amazing. Definitely coming back.

A week ago we finally had a chance to try out @heritagebarbecue in @sanjuancapistrano (one of my SoCal favorite cities), and it was deliciously worth the almost 2 hour wait. On this visit we wanted to try out their Pulled pork and Brisket Sando, pulled pork Bahn Mi, Brisket beans, Pollo Asado, Elote, pickles, pickled cucumbers, and not pictured their amazing flour tortillas which won last years @kcrwgoodfood and @gustavo_arellano great tortilla tournament. Also while waiting in line I enjoyed an ice cold beer! Always check their business hours to see what time they open, and I highly recommended you get there an hour early before they open, and make it a day there, lots of things to see, do, and enjoy. #foodie #whatchefsliketoeat #bbq #heritagebbq #michelinbibgourmand #foodporn #bbqporn #sandwiches #pulledpork #brisket #polloasado #delicious #sanjuancapistrano #california

The food is great 😊 we ordered beef rib pulled pork, spareribs all three were fantastic, soft all of the bone juicy 🤤 We ordered the macaroni and cheese, brisket, beans, and a corn my total was 167$ Not including the three beers, lemonade, and mango seltzer and a water bottle. We waited in line for about an hour and 10 minutes just to order and maybe like 10/15 to receive your platter We did get there around 1 and they were already sold out of their beef, brisket and some other items

Fantastic staff and clearly passionate about what they do. Exceptional BBQ craftsmanship behind the windows which is awesome. The flavors are outstanding and everything is made with such care. Trevor's at the Tracks is a charming indoor-outdoor restaurant located in an 1894 railway depot, offering upscale New American cuisine and drinks. The restaurant has historical significance as it showcases the train stop between San Juan Capistrano and San Diego. With a shaded patio surrounded by potted plants and climbing vines, it's an iconic spot for brunch and lunch.
This is a great place to chill with live music, good drinks and excellent food. The only (and not major) issue with the ambiance is the closeness of the tables on the patio. If you are next to a loud group - like some who don’t live here and ride the train from Santa Ana etc - it can be noisy. The food is actually outstanding. See attached pics.

Trevor’s at the Tracks is a true gem in the heart of San Juan Capistrano. The location is unbeatable—set right next to the train station, making it a perfect spot for people watching and soaking in the charming energy of the town. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed watching the trains roll in and out while people came and went. It added a lively, nostalgic atmosphere to our meal. We ordered the Mac & Cheese with Chicken Parmesan and the Spicy Pasta. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. The Mac & Cheese is rich and decadent—definitely a comfort food indulgence, and more than my mom could finish. The Spicy Pasta brought the perfect amount of heat without being overwhelming. Loved the fresh mushrooms, tomatoes and spinach in the dish. The service was top-notch. Friendly, attentive staff made us feel welcome from the moment we sat down. Trevor’s is clearly set up to accommodate everything from casual lunches to larger gatherings, and the ambiance is versatile enough for any occasion. Whether you're a local or just visiting San Juan Capistrano, Trevor’s at the Tracks is a must-visit spot.

First visit, this is a great, very different location, with a train stopping literally next door. The “Pretty Bird Chicken Sandwich” ($24) was very good, served with very good fries and spicy ketchup. The food was served hot, in a very reasonable time. The “English Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake ($14), was just OK. I’ve had this dessert in England and this was a poor try at it, although it did taste OK. The service was good, paid city parking lot ($2 / hr), but the total experience was quite dear, not someplace to visit regularly. Recommended.

It's an awesome old train station that has been turned into a beautiful restaurant. Great outdoor and indoor seating. They have love entertainment too in the patio. The Ahi tuna nachos were amazing. Also just across the train tracks is the oldest neighborhood in California, with great art stores. Great place to walk after a great meal.

Such a quaint area and ambiance. I recommend it as a cool experience to all. The flatbread I had was yummy. My friend has the short rib Bahn mi. I had the spicy Sicilian flatbread and it was great, the only comment I have is that one side of it was darkened crispy crust and the other side was perfectly cooked. Other than that it was a great experience.
Shideh B — Google review
The food was absolutely amazing here! We tried the karate chip chicken salad and a chicken sandwich, along with the tropical cobbler for desserts. There was a moderate to long wait probably because it was a Labor Day weekend, but it was absolutely worth it! They were even kind enough to serve a patty for our dog! Adding to the ambiance was the live music that just made the experience even better. We'll certainly be visiting this place again!

Brought my dad on a walk around the area, I've been here before with my friend and brought him the next day. He liked the live music and we went here almost everyday for the vibes, food wasn't too bad- selectively I'd go for the flatbread (really liked the chicken pesto&bbq chicken) and service was great. Dad labs the taco beer 3 days in a row! So this is our go to now Everytime he comes back to Cali, my parents likes this place. Worth the buck for the atmosphere and overall experience.

Nice atmosphere here that brings you a little back in time with this old building and garden in the courtyard. It's just relaxing to sit there and watch people go by. Food I have to say was ok. Not bad but nothing to write about. Falafel was a bit mushy and needed some kind of dressing. It's a shame since it's one of their more popular dishes on the menu. Wouldn't get that again but quesadilla was good with lots of cheese. I'm also surprised they don't have an alternative for coffee milk. Something dairy free. We are in CA. You kind of expected that here. Waitress was very nice but she was serving everyone so service a bit slow.

FKN Bread is a bakery in Orange County that offers innovative and delectable pastries, including savory stuffed croissants and indulgent danishes. The bakery's charming ambiance adds to its appeal, making it a must-visit for pastry enthusiasts. The bakery is named after the owners' three sons and was born out of their passion for experimenting with different types of bread at home.
My favorite bread bakery in South OC. They make a great sourdough and it comes in a few different flavors. Their croissants and other pastries are pretty good. The star of the show is the honey biscuit. It is to die for and they sell it to heritage bbq as well. It's only available on certain days of the weekend.
Jen Y — Google review
We stopped by this bakery right before heading into The Mission. FKN are initials of their sons. I didn’t know what to expect when I walked in. From the outside, I thought it was bigger but it’s a cute tiny little grab and go place. Each of the pastries are on display. Then I noticed this bakery specializes in everything sourdough which is my least favorite bread. We got ham and cheese sourdough croissant and chocolate sourdough croissant. Even though I’m not a fan of sourdough, it wasn’t tastable in the ham and cheese but very noticeable in the dark chocolate croissant. Had the sour salty flavor. It’s a matter of preference and sourdough is just not for me. I also wished they could have offered to heat it up. Instead it was cold and hard. They sell fresh baked loaves and we were told they sell out quickly.
My L — Google review
The sourdough baklava pistachio paste croissant ("waSOH", lol) is the best real croissant I've had since Layercake in Irvine, CA before they changed their vendor around 2014. The closest in OC has been Cream Pan in Tustin, CA, but no match for the flaky, crunchy yet soft sound, texture, and taste of the FKN Bread example. It's basically like the one I had in France over 20 years ago. I'm kinda wishing I lived closer so I could have it a little more often! Update: The "regular" sourdough croissant was just as amazing, so it wasn't the flavoring that did it. It's the bread. Very hard to do so many kudos!! Please never change the recipe. If the market ever demands a crappy crescent from you, so be it, but please never take away this absolute ambrosian delicacy from the menu even if you only end up making a small amount each day, and please label them accordingly 😊
Mark M — Google review
I just found out that FKN Bread has sourdough croissants and I'm in Heaven! I got the almond croissant and it was so delicious. So flaky and buttery and perfect. I'll definitely be going back here to try their sourdough cinnamon roll. If you love sourdough and live anywhere within driving distance of FKN, be sure to go! But make sure you check the hours bc they are closed on Mon and only open til 4 Tue-Sun

I tried the classic sourdough from here and it was pretty fire. They couldn’t slice it for me since it was too fresh out of the oven so I did it myself at home. Didn’t come out perfectly, but i could still cut through the best I could. I would come back and want to try the jalapeño cheese!

We love FKN Bread!! Yes a slice of sourdough with banana PB and honey is definitely easy to make at home BUT on FKN sourdough bread it’s an even yummier treat. The Italian sandwich is also the bomb. We decided to take home pizza dough that’s ready to go and comes with very easy instructions… our homemade pizza was delicious❤️

Restaurant
Hennessey's Tavern is an Irish-style pub chain with a casual and traditional atmosphere. The restaurant offers a variety of comfort food, including burgers, bar bites, and breakfast options such as avocado toast and 2-egg breakfast. Located in San Juan Capistrano, the tavern provides swift service and a pleasant dining experience. In addition to its charming interior, there is also ample outdoor seating available. Guests can enjoy typical pub fare like burgers and fries while sipping on well-crafted cocktails.
Our waiter nice guy attentive and fast our food was really good medium mushroom burger avicado toast some calamari and poke appetizers. Well be coming back

First visit, I had the “special” (see photo) smash burger. Really good deal, only $6, instead of the normal price of $17.25. Outdoor seating on the street side, was nice, friendly server did a very good job. Irish Nachos was good, served on a hot plate. Double patty “smash” burger was good, my only complaint was it really wasn’t a smash burger, because it didn’t have the normally tasty crispy edges. Plate served hot, good fries with very good ranch style dip. The best parking is a paid lot to the rear of the restaurant. But the walk to the restaurant is difficult, especially for a mobility challenged person, due to the steepness of the alleyway. Recommended, we will be back.

Went for brunch on a Friday. No wait. Very friendly staff. Got a Bloody Mary (good) & Irish Coffee (ok). I ordered the Dublin Benedict, corned beef instead of Canadian bacon. It was very good. The side of potatoes were undercooked a bit. I'm sure at night with all the live music and people this place is an entirely different story.

Great food and service. I was here to get the two for one burger. Your burger comes with fries and a pickle slice. This special is on Tuesday. Thursday Smash burger is $7.

Happy 4th of July at Hennessey's Tavern in SJC. We sat in the patio, and we're immediately helper by Bella. We ordered two ranch waters with Don Julio Blanco and the spinach artichoke dip. The service was good and ambiance positive and cool. Sarah made our drinks and took our entree order as we both ordered the Dublin Burger, and they were fantastic. Also, another round of drinks. Grace brought our food out and was quite kind as well. Good people, food, service, and ambiance. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed this restaurant/bar. My friend and I arrived early in San Juan and wanted to enjoy a nice breakfast. This was the only establishment that was opened at 8 a.m. We were the only ones there at the moment, so service was swift & the lady who took down our order was very nice. I had an avocado toast & he had the 2 egg breakfast. The food was phenomenal. We both loved the potatoes & everything was just plated and cooked to perfection. We decided to go back for a late lunch and we're not disappointed. We had 2 Lagunita IPAs & ordered the Paddy burger as well as the Chipotle burger. The burgers were huge, and we both were not able to finish them, but they were delicious. 😋 I will definitely be coming back here every time I'm in San Juan Capistrano. It's very convenient, just a short walk from the train with excellent customer service and a wide range of inside and outdoor seating. I definitely recommend this place!

El Adobe de Capistrano is a Mexican eatery located in a historical landmark dating back to 1797. It's one of the oldest operating restaurants in Orange County, opening its doors in 1948. The restaurant gained fame when President Richard Nixon frequented it during his stay at his nearby San Clemente residence, ultimately influencing the switch to a full Mexican menu.
I attended to a wedding here and this is a wonderful place to celebrate any special day here especially if you want to enhance the experience with classic Mexican food. The staff was amazing too. I can still taste their incredible tortillas and guacamole

I do remember how tasty the food was here during a reception from a wedding that I was photographing. I loved how this venue had an outdoor and indoor area with the roof retracting!

This was a nice Mexican Restaurant. Great Margaritas, tasty Watermelon Margaritas. Table side Guacamole was delicious it was made to order mild or hot whatever is your preference. The Shrimp Cocktail was delicious! Lobster tacos were also very filling and a good size if you are looking for a nice filling lunch meal. This was great place can’t wait to go back and try more dishes!

We had the great pleasure of hosting our daughter’s wedding at the El Adobe this year! From the very first meeting with our event coordinator, Daniel, I knew we were in the right place. In addition to delicious food, experienced and efficient servers and bartenders, the attitude was always positive, always “yes” to making our dream for this wedding coming true. I couldn’t be more grateful and recommend the El Adobe highly for any event, thank you to everyone and especially our family favorite Daniel!

Been a staple in south Orange County for decades. Food is amazing if you can make it i. For happy hour or taco Tuesday it’s a must. Servers are all friendly. They also have ado up pleat private dinning rooms and a great facility for big events like weddings and special celebrations.

El Adobe is a favorite in our family. I eat here 2-3x a month sometimes more with family and friends! Christian is our favorite waiter and is like family! Every meal is special because the entire staff works so hard to make the food taste so good, the service is amazing and we always love to sit in the bar area because we love the team, big fireplace and patio! Highly recommend for authentic food, exceptional service and a cozy atmosphere. Even held graduation and birthday parties here! They always go above and beyond!

I love the El Adobe Mexican restaurant so much and that's where my parents were married on August 18th, 1990 and it's refreshing their old memories of their love and romance. The mariachi band was truly amazing, especially for the successful wedding of my wonderful sister Marina and husband Wesley.

Cafe
Bakery
Breakfast restaurant
Ellie's Table at The Egan House is a charming breakfast-forward bakery nestled within the historic Egan House in San Juan Capistrano. The Victorian/Renaissance Revival-style building boasts a detailed brick exterior and a lovely wrap-around wooden deck. As an offshoot of Jay's Catering, this eatery serves up fresh and homemade breakfast and lunch items, including pastries, breakfast burritos, omelets, toasts, chicken and waffles, as well as espresso drinks.
I stumbled upon this cafe on my way north from San Diego, and it was an absolute gem! I ordered the Spanish Omelette and Belgian Waffle, and both were incredible choices. The omelette was massive but delicious, packed with tasty sauce, and the waffle was just right. My boyfriend went for the Steak Breakfast sandwich, which was soft, buttery, and the meat was surprisingly tender. The guacamole inside was fresh and bursting with flavor. He also ordered the side of potatoes, which were well-seasoned and delicious. For drinks, we got the iced americano and cappuccino. The cappuccino came in a large cup and was so good that it didn’t even need any sugar added. The outdoor seating was a huge plus for me. There was plenty of it, but there was also a small parking area with limited spots. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I highly recommend it.

Nice restaurant here in San Juan Capistrano, I am assuming that this area is part of downtown. Parking is definitely a challenge. Very limited free parking behind the restaurant. I didn’t see any street parking close by. But there is lots of paid public parking in the area. Some are $10, some are $4 for 2 hours. The restaurant itself has inside and outside seating available. Lots of options for everyone. Staff is super friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Atmosphere is nice and pleasant. Very relaxed and friendly. Food was good. My wife had the chilaquiles, I had the Ellie’s Table Breakfast Combo. It was all delicious, good seasoning, nice and crispy bacon, it all tasted fresh. Definitely a place to come back to. We came from Lake Forest, so this could be our to go breakfast place whenever we come down this area. Definitely recommend to try!

A favorite spot for me and my girlfriends to go have breakfast. We come here on a girls trip every year and we have to hit up ellie's! We typically get the eggs benedict, oatmeal and hot cocoa or a milk steamer

Absolutely love this place—every visit feels like a little slice of heaven! It's easily one of the most charming, well-kept spots around, with a stunning view that never gets old and an atmosphere that radiates warmth and happiness. The staff truly go above and beyond—Kim, Juan, Eva, and Lily made us feel so welcome and cared for, offering service that was nothing short of exceptional. We started with two croissants—almond and chocolate—and both were out-of-this-world delicious. Flaky, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweetness. Not only were they beautifully presented, but they tasted even better than they looked. We also tried the breakfast burrito with gravy, and... wow. Just wow. It was rich, flavorful, and totally unforgettable—honestly life-changing! There’s a kind of magic in the air here. From the food to the people to the overall vibe, it’s clear that this place is something special. I've been here multiple times, but today's visit sealed the deal—this is officially one of my favorite places of all time.

Absolutely phenomenal cinnamon buns , chilaquiles, and breakfast burritos! Friendly counter service, will be back. Edit August 2025: We ordered catering for a baby sprinkle and the food and service was phenomenal. We had everything delivered and we loved all of the recommendations Samantha gave us! Definitely will work with this restaurant again!

Delicious food and not enough stomach room, lol. Bruschetta toast, ham & cheese croissant and lemon poppyseed cake were all very tasty. The signature Kouign Amann was too sweet for my liking, but good to try. The salmon elote summer salad piqued my interest and I’d love to order it next time. Service was great. Overall, loved my experience here and look forward to coming back.

This place is legendary, what a vibe. This is the dive bar we all need in our lives. Bartender poured them heavy which is appreciated and great prices. We even bought some hats because they were so dope. Band was awesome and just made for a great ending to our night. Do it, go… I dare you not to have a good time! :)

Went on a Sunday afternoon, following a band I like. There aren’t enough counter bars, or places with a true dance floor - so points there. Their tap selection was good, and a beer was $8. It was a little too small, incredibly loud, crowded, the bar tender was rude to my friend, and the energy was chaotic. The vibe was “spring break, but 30 years later.” The clientele was extremely irritating, with drunks crashing into people in the dance floor and trying to flaunt… something? Pros: country, dance floor, live music, good beer, dancers

The good old days 1999 - 2004 on Sundays Tiny would serve up some great orange yum yum! Great place to hang out and the crowd was intermixed with the rich folk coming over the hill with the locals! Had great times with a lot of good people! God Bless Joey C!

Presented our ID’s to two different bouncers, both refused to let us in or check with managers about our IDs, they could not provide a valid reason as why we were denied other than “we were out of state” and other made up excuses such as missing security features. They asked for our passports to prove it, but since we were traveling domestically we did not have access to them and would not accept photos. I understand that the bouncers do not want to lose their jobs, but coming up with multiple false excuses on the spot does not seem professional in any sense.

Restaurant
Sundried Tomato American Bistros & Catering is a charming Californian bistro located in historic Downtown San Juan Capistrano. Nestled in a vintage Valenzuela adobe, the restaurant offers a comfortable and modern space with an outdoor patio. It's known for its delightful American cuisine made with the freshest ingredients, including organic items when possible. The restaurant is popular for its lively atmosphere, Happy Hour specials, and incomparable weekend brunch featuring bottomless mimosas.
Huge menu great prices and good food. Service from Esther was great. I’m usually skeptical of restaurants with a huge menu but they did a great job with everything. Portions are large and very well priced. Also some complimentary bread and butter. Will come back!

After taking the train to the area, we decided on this place. It was a Saturday morning around 11:30 and not crowded at all. They have patio and indoor seating as well as bar. We ordered some breakfast items, pasta with added shrimp, drinks and bottomless mimosas. The food looked and tasted great. The shrimp was a good size but had to order it separate since the pasta only came with noodles. The staff was really good about managing all our requests; however, they didn’t bring out drinks until we asked a second time. The coke didn’t taste right but they took it back. I took a star off as they didn’t tell us the danishes that were served did not mention that they contained nuts until we asked, someone in our group is allergic. Their bathrooms are also very clean.

I had a wonderful experience at Sundried Tomato. The service was exceptional, with Ingrid as the host and Ester as our server. Both were welcoming, attentive, and provided excellent recommendations from the new menu. I ordered the 1/2 sandwich and 1/2 chopped salad combination. The salad was fresh and flavorful, as always, and the sandwich had a satisfying crunch that elevated the entire dish. My friend opted for the chicken sandwich, which was equally impressive. The fries that accompanied it were a standout—fluffy on the inside, perfectly crisp on the outside. They were so good that I would order a side of them on their own during my next visit. To complement the meal, I had two espresso martinis, which were exceptionally well-made. They were rich, smooth, and easily some of the best I’ve had. Sundried Tomato consistently delivers on quality food, expertly crafted drinks, and outstanding service. I highly recommend it for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience.

We always enjoy this charming restaurant. We recently enjoyed a great lunch. They always have a complimentary sweet treat or sweet bun to enjoy while you review the menu which is always so good that I never think to take a photo prior to devouring it. On this visit, I had a great pesto sandwich on a baguette with Brie cheese. My husband always loves the hash from their brunch menu. Service was friendly and prompt and there was live music on the patio. Looking forward to our next visit already!

The food here was absolutely phenomenal! I had the half and half, get a choice of half sandwich and/or salad and/or soup. I got the sundried tomato Cesar and the Lemon Chicken Risotto soup. Both items were uniquely DELICIOUS! I also tried the Lavender Lemondrop! Also, very very good (and strong!!) The prices were reasonable for the portion sizes. They have a small outdoor patio that was comfortable.

Nice place to stop for lunch...about $25-30 for lunch. Excellent French dip and chicken salad. Sweet potato fries were well cooked and tasty. The chicken sandwich was a bit bland. In addition to a small dining area, there is seating in the bar and outside. We would definitely stop by again.

The atmosphere is really nice. I sat outside and It is far enough from the street where people don't really see you and you don't get all the noise from the street. It also has ample shade which is great. The servers and manager are really nice, it is really clean as well. I ordered a lettuce-wrapped hamburger and it was delicious. The fries were also really crispy!! I recommend this place.

Zoomars at River Street Ranch in San Juan Capistrano is a family-friendly destination offering a variety of activities for visitors of all ages. Established in 1980, this family-owned ranch provides an opportunity to interact with animals through a petting zoo and various animal pens. Children can enjoy mingling with guinea pigs, feeding and petting the animals, as well as exploring the playground. Additionally, the ranch offers train rides, gold panning, and mini tractor rides for an extra fee.
This is a really wonderful shopping and dining development that has something for everyone. 90 min parking is free if you validate and that's plenty of time to scope it out. However, if you have kids you will probably stay longer because the green park in the center and the petting zoo are huge draws. Plus, the restaurants are plentiful. I wish my Aunt was alive to see this to completion because it's a wonderful addition to a lovely area. Highly recommend a visit 👌 👍 👏 😀 😊

This place is AMAZING we’ve been coming here for 3 years since my toddlers were babies. First off thank you for considering military members, children under 3 free and for the beautiful renovations that have been made. We gladly are here the moment they open for 2-3 hours, there are animals, you can feed animals, tractor ride age 3+, a train ride, excavator ride, a pony ride, lamas, a playground!!!! Like everything your child would want lol. There’s new shops & a food like 10 steps away. Great job zoomars your employees are also great!!!!
Ryan G — Google review
Over priced, but solid petting zoo with many cash upgrade options. We paid online, but it turns out kids under 3 are free. Sorry, all sales final. We still had to wait to get in. Their waiver is a pain in the ass… You pay to park, you pay $6 for a small container of salad to feed the animals. They have tons of add on activities, but each for a price. The petting zoo itself is pretty small. We paid like 60 bucks for my wife and I to take our 2 year old to a petting zoo the size of a classroom. On the positive side, it is shaded, and your kid will have a great time for about 30 minutes. With kids so far removed from farms, it’s a great experience in a convenient location. Also have very nice restaurant and beer options next door (since you paid to park already) Good experience, good convenience and consistently overpriced.
Blake P — Google review
A bit overpriced but kids under 3 are free. Make sure to sign the waiver while in line, or they may make you turn around and get out of line to do so. It didn’t seem they had printed ones available instead. There was a very long line for the excavator attraction and not much communication as to what was taking so long - seemed like arbitrary wait times per ride. Thankfully there was a playground right by the line to preoccupy the kids while the adults waited. The petting zoo itself was nice. We pet and fed goats, llamas, alpacas, and llampacas and saw chickens, pigs, an emu, and chickens. I believe the bunnies and guinea pigs were not out today because it was too hot, which was understandable, and I’m grateful they seemed to be considerate of the animals and their diets (in addition, there was a sign by the rabbit enclosure saying they were on a diet & to only feed select vegetables).
Leah W — Google review
Worth it, they are expanding too. Adult $16, Kids $13. A very walkable and clean petting zoo with a kid sized replica western town. Instead of feeding the animals with pellets they have real veggies for you to hand out.
NJT T — Google review
Really nifty spot to bring the little ones to. Like many others have said, make sure you are filling out the waivers while waiting line. It will save you and everyone else a ton of time waiting in the sun. While you’ll probably come for the animals, there are loads of other things to do with a playground and makeshift western setup along the wall. There a nice jail area where you can take photos of your kiddos in jail. Beware, our kiddo got their head stuck inside the jail bars, but don’t fret, just tell them to walk forward, and they will find freedom.
Frank B — Google review
My 8 year old niece and I had a fantastic time while there. My only complaint is how expensive it has gotten. I know they have to pay to take care of the animals and pay the employees but it was rather expensive to get in and nothing was included. We still had to buy food to feed the animals and do other activities. We were only there for about an hour and a half and spent nearly $100. A little too rich for my pocketbook
Dawnne K — Google review
Clean, well organized, on the smaller size which is great if you want to keep an eye on your kids and not be overwhelmed. Train, playground and next to many food options.

Men's clothing store
Ross Dress for Less is a retail chain that offers discounted brand-name apparel, footwear, accessories, and household items. It serves as an affordable destination for inexpensive clothing and shoes. However, the selection may be limited during late afternoon hours on Sundays. Surprisingly, there were no disruptive children present during one individual's visit, and the store was in good condition compared to typical days filled with destructive behavior from kids and inconsiderate shoppers.
I visited this Ross for the first time and was impressed. It's a huge store with a great selection of clothing, home goods, and kitchen items. Since it wasn't very busy, Browse the aisles was easy and enjoyable. There is also plenty of parking available right outside.
Shahbaz S — Google review
I went there and my son picked up a toy that didn’t have a price, the cashier told me that the price tag was ripped but still could see the compared price, she was going to sell it to me for $9.99 and I told her the compared price was $10.00 and she said “ Well, that is the price I can give you” so I asked is someone could go check the price and she proceeded to tell me they didn’t have anyone. I had to go and look thru all the toys until I found one similar ( same brand) and she scanned the toy. That is not a customer’s job!
Elizabeth A — Google review
I generally don't like going to the Ross stores. However, I am very impressed about the cleanliness, friendly staff, and organized store. I am also pleased about the welcoming atmosphere and the outstanding customer service that was provided by a lady named Shirin.
Negin B — Google review
This Ross is just okay. You get the same experience as you would at any Ross with great discounts for clothes, shoes, and housewares. This location just always seems to be very unorganized and outdated. The worst part is the changing rooms do not have locks on the doors, just a magnetic closure that can easily be pushed open by someone on the outside. Definitely not the safest experience I have ever had trying on clothes.
Nica L — Google review
Ok, however would love to see more stylish clothing
Jean S — Google review
Good store, clean and usually organized. If you want to look at the clothing section they usually have most sizes including shoes. Decor, Kitchen, Garden(tools), Car etc they almost got everything some sections smaller than others. From all the times i been there staff has been helpful and friendly even during peak hours. Did i also say that prices are super low? Some times they bring new electronics at super low too! (I come here a few times a month, they seem to not update the electronics section much anymore, usually empty)
AgentZandy — Google review
Ross is always a hit or miss kind of store depending on what your looking for, but this store does almost always have something I need. The employees are always friendly upon entering and leaving and the store is kept maintained as well as it can be as well as stocked on merchandise. Overall it’s one of the nicer Ross stores I’ve been too.
Nikki C — Google review
Worst customer service with rude employees. We had bleeding finger at their store while shopping due to their products having a defective sharp edge, undetectable by the naked eye. Went to report it to customer service and also to warn them of their faulty product. Employees reacted with great indifference. I was told they would follow up with us in a week. Heard nothing from them. As a customer/human being, it is very disheartening to be treated with such disregard.

Coffee roasters
Hidden House Coffee in San Juan Capistrano is a charming and welcoming coffee shop with a creative atmosphere. The historic Oliveras House, dating back to 1890, provides a unique setting for this cafe. They roast their own beans at a Santa Ana roastery and offer a variety of coffee drinks, including cold brews and espresso. The cozy wooden porch and tree-filled patio are perfect spots to enjoy your beverage.
Hidden House Coffee is a true gem! The service is always friendly, making every visit a pleasant experience. Their coffee is fantastic, with a variety of flavors and plenty of milk alternatives for lattes. The pastry selection is top-notch—everything is always fresh and delicious. One of the highlights is their seasonal kombucha, which is always a refreshing treat, along with their expertly crafted lattes. I’ve been coming here for three years now, and I always look forward to getting one of my favorites—whether it’s the Honey Lavender Latte, the Matcha, or in the past the dearly missed Maple Bourbon Latte. The atmosphere is absolutely gorgeous, making it well worth the 5+ minute wait. If you're looking for a cozy, high-quality coffee spot, this is it!

The Hidden House Coffee is such a cute hidden gem! The cozy vibe pairs perfectly with their delicious selection of pastries—both sweet and savory. I loved my iced maple brown sugar coffee (so smooth and flavorful), and the cinnamon rolls were amazing. The jalapeño ball was a tasty surprise definitely worth trying. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a chill spot with great coffee and treats!

This is an excellent coffee shop with plenty of options for a variety of tastes from regions around the world. The strawberry matcha was particularly good, and service was kind and fast. There can be a bit of a line/crowd at times, but it makes sense when you factor in the quality of the drink you’re getting. Plenty of seating when we were there, including outside seating. This isn’t a cafe where I’d get work done on a laptop, but a fantastic place to spend time with friends!

First. Time. Here. San juan capioHidden coffee. There's line but the wait is worth it. Delicious fresh coffee and vegan chocolate chip cookies for me. And the just walk outside and enjoy everything there.

Tucked away in the historic town of San Juan Capistrano, Hidden House Coffee offers a cozy, rustic atmosphere and the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee. I had a latte during my visit, and it was fragrant and smooth. With inviting outdoor seating, it’s a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a peaceful moment.

I was in the area to go to the beach and looking for a delicious cup of coffee and we found it also they had a delicious stuffed bagels that was super good too I totally recommend this spot also the surrounding area has a lot of little cute shops to walk around and enjoy your coffee or drink
Rene O — Google review
Favorite coffee shop in the area! Super friendly staff and delicious cold brew and iced matcha, especially their seasonal drinks. Home made granola is also delicious. If it’s your first time visiting, the line forms straight back from the register and goes out the front door… it does not curl inside. You’ll figure out what this means when you visit!

My friend shared with me that this is a wonderful place with some big trees overshadowing the cafe. I was surprised because I normally don’t associate too many cafes with tall trees especially in the Orange County area. As soon as I saw Hidden House Coffee, the rationale for the name clicked in my head. It is indeed a “hidden” house! It’s incredibly lovely inside with some seating right next to where the barista works. More seating is found outside in the patio. There’s a wide range of people groups and ages. There was a musician playing his saxophone outside of the house. I was told there is normally a long line for such places like this. My friend and I were lucky to have stood in line for the non-rush hours of this place. My friend got a sparkling expresso tonic and I got a chai latte (iced). The coffee tonic, according to my friend, is the best here because the blending of the sparkling water and expresso is done just right without it being too overpowering in flavor. For me, the chai latte, was delicious. It did not taste artificially syrupy, and drinking our drinks in the cafe was a treat! I got to pay for the space to hang and eat. God bless you all! Service was kind and quick - I know things can get busy when there’s a lot of people, so thank you for the genuine effort you put into providing good sustenance for everyone!

Nestled in the Los Rios Historic District, Ramos House Cafe offers a unique dining experience that takes you back to old times. The owners reside in the house, growing herbs in the garden and churning ice cream by hand. With a menu that changes daily based on fresh ingredients, this cafe specializes in contemporary American cuisine with a southern twist. The rustic patio overlooks train tracks and is perfect for enjoying their decadent Southern-style brunches and massive Bloody Marys.
I saw this place when I took the train. Such a cute place in a small historic city! Food is so delicious; and the cocktails are exceptional. They had the brunch menu when we were there. It’s so worth the money. Their service is great and very friendly. Must try!!!!

Gorgeous, not too touristy, beautiful atmosphere in a mature garden and large trees for shade. I sat on the balcony which was nice for watching the world go by. Reasonable prices, decent portions, what more can you ask for.

What a charming little place! I really love the cozy atmosphere here. They have a great variety of menus, and everything looks and sounds so delicious. It's hard to believe we can't try it all in one trip! 😂😂😂 Our server, Ally, was super friendly and really helpful. I can't wait to come back and sample more of the tasty options on the menu!
Teena M — Google review
I do not venture out to OC but after dining here today for brunch I guarantee that this will not be my last time here. As many familiar with my reviews know im one for quaint mom and pop homestyle food and experiences. Ramos House delivered on so many key features I look for when choosing a great option not only for dining but as a disabled diner at that. To start off I love that this brunch spots is ADA accessible. The resturant is leveled and provides enough space for those of us who use mobility aides such as canes, wheelchairs, scooters and so forth. Tables are leveled and spaced out enough to accommodate you and your parties comfortably. I feel funny commenting on the cute aestetics of the restroom, however the vintage restroom is a single stall, spacious restroom that provides enough space for those mobility aides. We dined on a Saturday that was offering a 2 course brunch menu. Please keep in mind this kitchen is in a small old home so unfortunately you will not be able to make substitutions to your meals. With brunch we have options to choose one small plate and one large entree. For $45 prefix menu they in my opinion are very generous on portion sizes. You can't go to brunch and not get a cocktail. Well you can and they offer a variety of options, however i opted for a Palomoa with Mezcal tequila because for my brunch option I needed something smokey to pair with the entrees earthy flavors. I reccomend traveling with friends and sampling each other's plates as every option looked delicious, it was hard to choose so we all got one option to share. Our server was such a gem and offered personalized reccomendations based off our questions that helped the three of us narrow down our options. To hear employees speak highly of the food they serve you and what their personal favorites are is always a good sign. I opted for hush puppies and the avocado aoili topped with a delicious peppered jam. Presentation alone was plated to perfection and the taste, phenomenal. Each bite was a unique explosion of flavors. The flakey bites of potatoes paired with a creamy avocado aioli and chunks of peppers dance on you palette with each bite. I was pleased two of us selected the same appetizer because after one was done we devoured the second. The third party member ordered the apple cinnamon beignets. Personally I felt these made the perfect dessert alternative. They were soft , warm and the plated sauce absolutely delicious. I loved that they were not too sweet and had a hint of savory flare. For each of our meals we all ordered something unique. I chose the wild mushroom mac and cheese with duck and truffles. It's very hearty and filling. The earthy flavors played well with my smokey cocktail. Dinner 2 opted for the beef stew and veggies. The beef was so tender and juicy, bursting with rich flavors. Dinner 3 selected the chicken salad and a side biscuit and apple butter for an extra $3. The chicken breaded to perfection offered such a unique flair and flavors , while the unique pumpkin dressing added a taste that was not only unique but delicious. The biscuit was flakey and delicious and paired with the apple butter was worth the extra cost. This brunch date with friends turned into an amazing exploration of flavors, fun and great conversations. Going with a small group is a must. I enjoyed how each entree compliments each other so well. The portions so generous we took food home and the atmosphere and customer service phenomenal.

Mollies San Juan is a warm, family-run restaurant located in a strip mall, offering homestyle American classics for breakfast and lunch. The atmosphere is welcoming with many regulars of all ages, making it a family favorite while still appealing to casual daters. The chef's personal touch by checking on guest tables adds to the positive experience. Whether you're looking for a light meal or a hearty breakfast, Mollies does not disappoint.
Had a wonderful breakfast this morning at Mollies in San Juan Capistrano. Lizette was my wonderful and friendly server. I ordered Mollies country breakfast with scrambles eggs and country potatoes and a cup of nice tasty coffee. The ambiance was pleasant and upbeat and the service, food and staff w were amazing. Salvador was also very professional and friendly upon arriving and at checkout. Highly recommended!

My enduring lack of fandom for this establishment is a testament to its unwavering commitment to mediocrity. It's truly a marvel how a place can consistently underwhelm on every front – food quality, service, and ambiance – and still have customers. I can only assume the locals frequent it out of some deeply ingrained, masochistic habit, perhaps a nostalgic yearning for "the good old days" when the original owners apparently sprinkled magic fairy dust (and actual flavor) into their dishes. Speaking of dishes, my "Oriental Chicken Salad" was an artistic masterpiece of disappointment. For a mere $17, I was presented with what I can only describe as a deconstructed dream: a generous mountain of shredded iceberg lettuce (clearly a connoisseur's choice), a couple of canned mandarin orange slices (for that authentic, straight-from-the-can zing), and a triumphant handful of peanuts, boldly substituted for the advertised cashews. Because who needs cashews when you can have… peanuts? It was truly a culinary rebellion against the very concept of value. My daughter, ever the optimist, bravely ventured into the realm of waffles. Her plate arrived bearing four desolate waffle sections, flopped with all the enthusiasm of a damp dish rag. No fanfare, no fruit, no whipped cream – just a stark, minimalist statement of "here are some waffles. Now eat them." It was a profound lesson in the art of doing the absolute bare minimum. Despite the restaurant being only half-filled, our service was a masterclass in controlled chaos – simultaneously inattentive and rushed. One can only hope that no member of our family ever, under any circumstances, suggests a return visit. I'd rather eat my own underwear, and I'm fairly certain it would offer more flavor and better value.

Drove down the Ortega Highway to San Juan Capistrano with friends. Came here due to the number of reviews on Google. Over thousand with a score of 4.5 . Service did not disappoint from the moment we arrived. Place was busy with customers. All the staff was friendly and engaging. Our drinks were constantly topped off. Our waitress was accomadating. Always making sure our choices were to our likening. The amount of food you get and price was on point. Outside patio you are allowed to have your pet sit by your side. Mollies does not disappoint. It's great experience from beginning to end. You won't be disappointed with your choice!

First visit, it’s not in the greatest location, slightly shabby. But friendly staff, opened the door for us, and quickly greeted us at our table. I had a tuna melt with fries. Served hot (the filling was steaming), fries hot, all good. Looks like it might be really good for breakfast, I’ll be back. Recommended.

I’ve been to Mollies a dozen times and its a hit or miss on the service and food. The last 2 times we were there it was a big miss. It wasn’t busy at all but the service was very slow, it took 15 minutes to take our order and 0ver 30 minutes for our food to come out. We go there for lunch as we work around the corner. The food is pretty good but the second time for slow service we’re done going back.

Italian restaurant
Ciao Pasta Trattoria is a charming restaurant located in San Juan Capistrano, offering a taste of authentic Southern Italian cuisine from the Puglia Region. The ambiance is perfect for both romantic evenings and casual gatherings with friends and family. Following a recent modern makeover, the trattoria has become one of the most stylish dining spots in South County.
As a big fan of various Italian foods, the whole cuisine line just gets me - but it’s often difficult to find myself surprised. At Ciao Pasta Trattoria, I came first hand to experience why this restaurant is so highly rated and regarded by people I trust when it comes to food. Everything here was just truly delicious and the service experience was so well done that I came back the following weekend for yet another meal. I would try anything here, and the lovely and leafy patio makes this a perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine with good friends over incredible food.

Ciao Pasta Trattoria in San Juan Capistrano has a cozy, welcoming atmosphere and friendly service. The calamato olives with bread were a delicious surprise, bold, briny, and super flavorful. I ordered the salmon salad; while the greens were fresh and well-dressed, the salmon was unfortunately overcooked and a bit dry. That said, the overall experience was enjoyable, and I’d definitely come back to try more from the menu.
Russo G — Google review
We came in for lunch on Saturday afternoon. There was no wait and we got seated in the patio, which was perfect with the weather and ambiance. We ordered fried calamari for appetizer, a salmon salad, and brasato di manzo as the main course. We received some bread and olive oil for free. The food tasted good, typical Italian restaurant, but didn't blow my mind. The service was attentive and friendly.

Absolutely love this place! We’ve been coming here almost every weekend, and it never disappoints. The service is consistently top-notch — the staff is attentive, friendly, and really makes you feel at home. The waiters are fantastic and know the menu and wine list inside and out. The owner is incredibly warm and welcoming, always taking the time to greet us and make sure everything is perfect. It’s clear he’s passionate about what he does, and it shows in every detail. The food? Amazing. Everything is fresh, flavorful, and authentic — real Italian comfort with a touch of elegance. Their Italian wine list is impressive, with great pairings for every dish. The atmosphere is cozy yet lively — perfect for a romantic dinner or a night out with friends. This has become our go-to spot in San Juan Capistrano, and we honestly can’t recommend it enough!

This was a truly 5 star experience. From the moment we entered to when we left everything was amazing. First off the atmosphere is amazing. There was plenty of space it was easy to talk and it was a beautiful setting. I recommend sitting outside if you can! Next is the amazing service. Truly the waitress we had was one of the best I’ve ever had in my life. She was so nice to everyone and truly made our experience so amazing. I don’t know her name but we went on 6/24/25 at around 1pm. Lastly was the amazing food. So many options! You will find something you love! The food came out fast and tasted delicious!
Thomas H — Google review
Wow! Walked by a dozen times but finally came in and was happily surprised. Solid Boston North End Italian quality with minimal pretension. Ambiance was above average and took full advantage of the old mission architecture. Burrata Caprese had incredible soft but not gooey burrata and perfect herbs. Chicken Parm had great cheese and great side pasta. We will be back often! A definite Italian gem in South OC!
Dennis W — Google review
Ciao Pasta Trattoria instantly became one of my favorite spots in Orange County, not just because of their incredible short rib pasta (easily one of the best I’ve ever had), but because of the outstanding service from Wilfred. From the moment we sat down, Wilfred was attentive in a way that felt genuine, not overbearing. When we asked for “just two more minutes” to decide, he returned exactly two minutes later. He noticed when our drinks were running low and offered refills before we even had to ask. What impressed me most was how he remembered my partner’s dietary requirements and, when it came to dessert, thoughtfully pointed out every option she could enjoy. It’s rare to find food and service equally top-notch, but Ciao Pasta Trattoria delivered both. Thank you, Wilfred, for making our night memorable, we’ll definitely be back.

The Diavolo thin crust pizza with sausage & salami was very good. Spicy & well done which is my preference. The small salad with freshly made with greens, tomatoes, & blue cheese. A small dish of olive oil with spices & fresh bread was also provided. Service was attentive. The outside area is a nice ambiance. Very close to the train station & a variety of other restaurants, & a gelato shop.

El Campeon Taqueria is a casual Mexican eatery with a market offering groceries and sundries. Located just a brisk walk from the train station, this spot serves up some of the best authentic taqueria food in the city. From tortas and tacos to burritos and tamales, they have it all. The mercado next door is stocked with Mexican staples, adding to the experience.
There are places one goes to eat where the food and service take you away from where you’re at and puts you into the country of where the food is from. El Campeón Taqueria is one of those places. In the back of a strip mall in San Juan Capistrano is this restaurant that leaves you feeling as if you’re in Mexico eating tacos. Absolutely amazing and so worth the trip from Corona. We will so be back to eat more and be transported to Mexico.

Delicious food! What can I say but you won't regret it. Every time I come to California, it never fails. We gotta stop here.
Lily O — Google review
A friend was showing me around San Juan Capistrano and this place is a hidden gem for good tacos. Each taco is about $4-5 unless you get street tacos (smaller) $2-$3. This has existed for about a decade according to my friend TB. She says it was cheaper back then, but inflation and the development of the San Juan Capistrano area has really increased the prices. The two tacos I got today: (1) El pastor - the spicy marinated meat lit a fire in my stomach in the good way (2) Carne asada - the meat was generously provided I was asked whether I wanted cilantro and onions with my tacos and I said a resounding yes! I was incredibly full with just two tacos. It’s a filling meal. TB and I came around 10-11 am which is a bit early for lunch hahaha but this place opens at 6 am! We still had to stand in line for 10 min. That’s how much of a consistent presence of customers and service is provided. There are a lot of people working to prepare the food for you, so I’ve been so blessed. You’ll be provided a receipt and a number. In a sense, it reminded me of a pastrami sandwich store I visited in NYC except this time it’s for tacos in Southern California. Hone in on your Spanish so that you’ll be able to recognize your number when they call it out too! There’s much to look around and explore just within the restaurant. I was so tempted to order a juice and pastries, but God knew I wouldn’t be able to handle everything. I can’t wait to come again another day. There are tables outside that you can sit to chat with friends, which is what TB and I did. God bless you all!

Whether you're craving tacos, burritos, or something more unique, El Campeon delivers an exceptional culinary experience that truly captures the essence of Mexican cuisine. Highly recommended!

For day 5, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Ronald W. Caspers Wilderness Park. The Ronald W. Caspers Wilderness Park spans across 8,000 acres and is home to a variety of flora and fauna such as coastal oaks, sycamores, grassland, streams, valleys, birds and wild animals. The park offers a range of family-friendly hiking trails like the West Ridge Trail (2.27-miles), Juaneno Trail (2.68-miles) and Mesa Loop Trail (1-mile).
One of the best spots to hike in the area. Amazing views. Good variety of challenging trails with shade and sun. Bring a hat and more water than you think you need. Main trails are well maintained. Some more adventurous ones a tad overgrown.

Not much to do at this park. Fire ants always all over the place, consistently. Bathrooms are scarce. Hikes can can be an option or visiting the Nature Center. fun if you have a big group but remember to camp away from the ants.

Absolutely stunning camping spot. Beautiful views and deeper into nature while still being close to urban areas. Water is sparse, so be prepared to bring your own sources. Fire pits, tables, and grill is provided. Currently portapoopers are common since the running water is out in some areas.

RV campground with power and water hookups. Yes, it is next to the hwy but the noise was not annoying plus at night was super quiet. We could hear the owls and coyotes, the campground was super clean and park staff super welcoming and helpful. They also have wood bundles for $5.00

5 stars for convenience. You want to get away from it all but not too far? This is your place. It's one of the few OC parks which offers camping, 30 minutes from the beach, and can offer dark skies. Fire pits and firewood are offered, which I find contrary to SoCal fire prevention warnings. However, we all appreciate an open fire during a cool evening.
M P — Google review
Even though it's right off the highway, our campground was quiet and peaceful. The trails were amazing for hiking and there is a small nature center with some absolutely amazing views. Photos are taken from the view deck of the nature center. Power and water worked in our site, and check in and out was smooth and easy. It was a wonderful campsite at a fraction of the cost and headache of booking through a state or national park.
Matthew M — Google review
Site #12. We have visited this OC County Park several times camping in the Live Oak Loop. The last time we were there, drought had caused the closure of restrooms and showers, but relatively clean Porta-Potties with hand wash stations are scattered around. Very friendly Rangers stopped by to chat and made us feel welcomed. Miles of hiking trails with great views of the surrounding hills. We didn't get to visit the Nature Center but will try to the next time.
Paul G — Google review
If you go during the week, it can be very peaceful, with the lack of people. However, the only time the Nature Center is open is during the weekend. The nature center also has a great view. You can still enjoy the view just outside the nature center when it's closed. There is also an old windmill and coral. There are multi use trails and a campground, which I stayed at and love. Afterward, I recommend taking the Ortega Hwy (Hwy 74) to Lake Elsinore.

Wow what a great place! Let’s get into it. I came here with a group of car friends. We didn’t call ahead. And they had no idea we were coming either a very large party and lots of cars. But guess what? If all worked out amazing! Let’s move on. From the moment we parked. To the moment we were seated. They were all steely accommodating. They quickly put a large area of tables together for us. Quickly took our orders and food came out in a VERY timely manner. Entire place was clean. Well taken care of. Staff as I said again was absolutely amazing. Very attentive and professional. Let’s get into the food. I kept it really simple. Chicken quesadilla. Very tender, juicy seasoned to perfection chicken. I will 100% without a doubt get this again. A lot of places somehow seem to mess up the simplest things. However this place didn’t. Drink flight. Mostly all to sweet for me. I’m not a big sugar person. But if that’s what you’re into you’ll love it! Would I recommend this place? Most definitely. Will I return? Yes. See you soon Sol Agave!

I recently had a delightful lunch at Sol Agave, a spot I discovered thanks to a great recommendation. The restaurant's interior was a welcome escape from the midday heat, with fans and AC creating a comfortable atmosphere. The decor was a cool blend of modern and Western Mexican styles, and the ambient lighting and minimal noise made for a very pleasant dining experience. I ordered the Grilled Salmon Salad, which I requested blackened. The dish was a real treat—a generous portion of fresh greens and sweet berries, complemented by the perfectly cooked salmon. The entire salad was delicious and didn't disappoint. I enjoyed a Corona NA with my meal, a complimentary bowl of chips & some unique fig based salsa & red salsa was included, and the service throughout was attentive and friendly. As a bonus, Sol Agave is conveniently located with free parking, making it a perfect stop if you're ever in the area doing some shopping. I highly recommend it!

Very good Mexican restaurant that is super popular. It's a huge restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, with an old school vibe. You definitely need a reservation for dinner. I really enjoyed the food and the margaritas were good as well.

5-star service and operations -- with a great attention to customer satisfaction -- for example, without us asking, they put a small rack at the side of our table so that my wife could hang her bag (instead of sitting on the floor). Thank you Enrique! Highlights of our meal were the chips & salsa, theTacos del Mar, and the spongy delicious Tres Leches cake.

Simply Amazing! The starting by all the great drinks, especially the margarita tasting flight! The food was perfect! We enjoyed every meal! The staff was super friendly! They were able to accommodate us without reservations in a busy night! So if you go there you have to try the butter cake! 🎂 I want to come back there just because of this cake!

I went to Sol Agave yesterday with my girlfriend for lunch, and it was hands down one of the best restaurants we’ve been to. The place looks amazing and has a great atmosphere. Our server, Marcos, was exactly what I look for in a server, friendly, professional, gave great recommendations, and never rushed us into ordering. The food was spectacular. We had the mixed ceviche, shrimp tacos, and the taquiza plate, and finished with churros for dessert. Everything was not only beautifully presented but also tasted incredible. We’re definitely going back, this place is a must-try!

A friend and I were at an event in the area, and randomly stopped by to have an early dinner at this restaurant. What a great experience! Professional and friendly staff, great service, and the food was delicious. I had the chile relleno plate (two chiles - one with carnitas, and one with cheese, served with rice and beans) and my friend had the carnitas special. Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. The meat was very good quality and tender. Portions were generous. It was reasonably priced, too. We look forward to going there again.

Sol Agave is one of our favorite places to enjoy authentic Mexican food as a family! The atmosphere is vibrant yet cozy, making it perfect for gathering together. Every dish is full of flavor, beautifully presented, and made with quality ingredients—you can taste the passion in every bite. The margaritas and cocktails are a must-try, and the staff always goes above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Whether it’s a family night out or a special occasion, Sol Agave never disappoints. Highly recommend for anyone who loves great food, great service, and a true Mexican dining experience!

Nestled in the heart of San Juan Capistrano, Docent Brewing stands as a beloved local brewery that has quickly become a go-to destination for craft beer enthusiasts. With an impressive selection of brews ranging from rich ales and hoppy IPAs to crisp pilsners and robust imperial stouts, there's something to satisfy every palate. The inviting atmosphere features both indoor and outdoor seating, making it perfect for enjoying a pint with friends or family.
🍺 🍞 🍻 Great vibes and great beer. They have a lot of beers, I liked the Ourglass IPA. They also had plenty of sandwich options- the chicken salad sandwich was good. Hidden spot but not far off the freeway and right next to biking paths. It’s a big space with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Good vibes for friends, family, anybody.

Here right now! Happy Thursday! Great tasting brews, tried their Hefeweizen and Pilsner. Both were full bodied with nice flavorful notes. For a brewery they have a decent food menu. We had the Thursday special, 3 tacos for $12. Choices of birria, Carnitas and kimchi and tried all three. They were absolutely delicious with the meat flavorful, tender and juicy. Large space with plenty of seating. Busy already at 3:30pm! Fun and engaging staff!
Cheryl N — Google review
Sixteen house made beers on tap. Excellent beer. Hourglass IPA was my fave. They have a decent size menu with interesting choices. I had the Korean Reuben and deviled eggs as a side. The food is great, but the portions are disappointing. The eggs looked like quail eggs and I could have ordered 2 sandwiches.
Joel — Google review
as expected, the flights of beers on the day were good and always fun. Good service at the bar, What was more impressive was the food! We will return.

Beer was excellent. The rice bowl was also fantastic, even though I got the chicken instead of the chile verde.
Marcia V — Google review
This brewery is a hidden gem. Very cool spot to grab some beer and food. This is the main Brewhouse for this company. They also have another satellite tasting room/brewpub. The atmosphere for this place is excellent, especially for being in a business park. They have a huge selection of beer on tap. Really a style of beer for everyone. There is plenty of comfortable seating to choose from. The staff was really helpful with choosing beer fro. Their massive list. If you enjoy the brewery feel, this place is definitely for you. Bring a jacket if it's cold. There is upstairs seating, lounge seating, bar top seating, and outdoor seating. On the back side of the building parking can be tight and sparse. However there is plenty of parking on the front side of the building and on the street just a short walk away. There is really only this brewery in this industrial complex, so it's a good things that they have a good size menu of food to choose from. It seems very family friendly, big picnic benches to accommodate large parties of people. They also do quarter poor, so if you are a tasting enthusiast, you can try all. Of their beers without spending a fortune. Restrooms for customers, spacious facility. Very well maintained place.
Hans F — Google review
Very nice place. Lots of fun places to sit and hang out. The food is excellent and the beers are great but they're mostly IPAs. Not enough sours or stouts which are my favorite. Too many kids, too, and the parking isn't great. I prefer The BrewHouse a lot more because of their huge beer selection with something for everyone. They offer great, free entertainment too and there is plenty of parking. Plus, you have to be over 21 to enter. The food is pretty limited though but the chili dogs are awesome and huge and you can bring your own food. Sometimes they have food trucks too.
Patrick R — Google review
Nice brewery with food options. I only had beer.... Will try the food when I get back here.

Dana Point Harbor is a bustling city hub in Southern California, offering boat excursions, whale-watching tours, a park, promenade, dining options, and shops. It's steeped in surf culture history and pays homage to influential figures with statues at Waterman Plaza. The warm waters off the coast are teeming with sea life, making whale tours a must-do activity. It's also an ideal road trip destination from Los Angeles, offering excellent dining experiences and beautiful hotels.
It’s a charming coastal destination that offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and recreational activities. The harbor is beautifully situated, providing stunning views of the ocean and surrounding cliffs. It's a great spot for a leisurely stroll along the waterfront, where you can enjoy watching the boats come and go. I loved the vibrant atmosphere, it’s an excellent place to relax and enjoy a meal while watching the sunset over the water. The nearby beaches are easily accessible and perfect for a day of sun and surf. Overall, Dana Point Harbor is a delightful destination that has something for everyone. It’s definitely worth a visit!

It is a very pretty pretty harbor and great to walk for your health, while enjoying the scenery. But you do have to pay for parking.
Jeannette M — Google review
We visited Dana Point Harbor while we were staying at the Waldorf Astoria Resort. It was nice walking around the harbor, shopping, eating, and seeing a bunch of boats. There is a lovely park at the harbor as well, so we got to see a bunch of dogs while we were there which was fun. It was nice to see people out and about on water and on land. If you are looking for a nice place to walk around in Dana Point, the harbor is a great place to go.

Mediterranean restaurant
The Olives Branch is a Mediterranean restaurant located in a shopping center, offering both indoor and outdoor dining options. They have an extensive menu with fresh and unique dishes. The staff are friendly, polite, and quick in their service. Unlike some places that use heat lamps, the food here is actually cooked to order, resulting in delicious flavors. The humus and garlic sauce are particularly amazing. In addition to Lebanese wine and beer, they also serve a highly recommended date juice martini.
What an incredible first experience! Tony our server was attentive, enthusiastic and sincere while serving our larger family dinner. Everything from the appetizers to mains were cooked to perfection, and all dietary allergies were confidently taken care of. I rarely write reviews but tonight’s experience was well worth it. Thank you!

I like the food over there. It’s fresh and tasty. Service was fast and good and they are very friendly. Last time the hookah was not good but the owner change it for me and it was amazing. I recommend this place. I was there with my friends and I saw many families there enjoyed their time
Ola A — Google review
We stumbled upon this place and decided to give it a try. We ordered a shared beef and lamb wrap for almost $19. Despite the nearly empty restaurant, we had to wait quite some time for our food to arrive. The presentation looked nice, but the experience quickly turned sour. The only hot item was the French fries. The wrap's filling was overwhelmingly pickled, and to our surprise, there was no lamb 🥴😬. The long wait and subpar food made us wonder why the place was so empty. To add insult to injury, the bill included an extra dollar not listed on the menu. Needless to say, we won't be returning and strongly advise against it."

Excellent food. Excellent service. Great ambiance to take family any day of the week. Tony, Aiden, Melvin and the whole crew will take care of you beyond belief. Would definitely recommend to any family and friend. Will continue to be a repeating customer for the years to come. Thank you for everything you guys do. Job well done.

Food was very authentic middle eastern and delicious. The server/owner was very -very nice and helpful with suggestions. They had Lots of great Vegan options and non vegan as well. The Only small complaints was they were just a little understaffed to handle the amount of people eating here and the To-go orders. Everyone was working extremely hard and at a fast pace. It took just a little bit longer than I would have liked between courses… but it was also relaxing at the same time because you weren’t rushed. The music playing was great and upbeat but a little bit on the loud side. Maybe I’m just getting old haha! The amazing food definitely stole the show. Everything was a perfect size for the price …not skimpy but not huge either. It was just right! I look forward to going back again soon!!
Big D — Google review
I rate it 3 out 5 because of the way they cook the seafood - it is fried in oil but not grilled so the taste it really different than you expect from Mediterranean food. Customer service is average, they do not pay much attention to the customers. It also smells fried oil everywhere, so you need to change your clothes not to smell like a fast food guy. Location is good and nice. Atmosphere is friendly. They have hookah if you like it.
Dzmitry M — Google review
Great hookah, decent food. As someone who's lived in the Middle East, this food is good in flavor but not the absolute best. Many side dishes are cold when I would prefer them hot (musakka). Great hookah though! Clean restaurant, clean hookahs, great flavors, knowledgeable staff! I will come back.
Megan T — Google review
They were crazy busy tonight but our service and food quality was still exceptional!! I ate my entree before I could snap a photo but I did capture the hummus and labneh. I also captured the Baklava Ice Cream, the most deliciously unique dessert ever!

Maison Cafe + Market is a charming European-style venue that offers a delightful combination of dining and market experience. Located near Doheny State Beach, this cafe exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it more than just a place to eat. The menu features fresh, organic ingredients sourced locally in Southern California, with influences from the countryside of France and Italy.
If I had to describe my experience at this café in one word, it would be amazing! From the moment I walked in, I felt a warm and cozy atmosphere. The interior design was inviting, and the soft background music made the space even more pleasant. The coffee I ordered was exceptional! It had a perfectly balanced taste, a delightful aroma, and you could tell it was made with great skill and care. Every sip was enjoyable, delivering the true essence of a high-quality coffee. Moreover, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. They greeted me with warm smiles and even helped me choose the best coffee for my taste. Their kindness and professionalism made my visit even better. Overall, I highly recommend this café! Whether you’re looking for a top-notch coffee or a cozy place to relax, this is the perfect spot. I’ll definitely be coming back! ☕✨

I loved this place. I recommend steak and egg. Its great price and taste. Other two dishes were also awesome.
WILLIAM S — Google review
Such a beautiful place, but the food was unremarkable. The service was nice. The atmosphere was lovely, but none of us were impressed with the weekend brunch even though the prices were great! We ordered the Dutch Baby which was super flat and not fluffy like a traditional Dutch Baby. And the middle was still raw. The crème on top was the star of the dish, but there was very little. The Duck Hash could have been great, but it was super sweet and then there was a pocket of salt like it hadn’t been mixed well. But the duck was cooked well. The Two Egg breakfast was bland. There was no seasoning. Not even salt. I noticed the next table asked for salt and pepper and they self-seasoned their food. It came on a bed of just dry arugula. The berries were fresh, but all in all just not great food. I probably wouldn’t come back to eat, but the atmosphere was nice.
Chelsea G — Google review
Perfect spot for a brunch after a morning hike in the headlands. The space is adorned with charming paintings and feels both vibrant and cozy. The Dutch Baby was the best I’ve ever had: fluffy, almost cake-like but moist. The Chèvre tartine was wonderfully delicious too. Will definitely come back and try other items on the menu!

Really fun little breakfast spot in Dana Point. Everything was really good, karina our server, the menu and the food. It was so good that I came back again two days later. Much better than I expected!

We had a great experience overall, the food was absolutely delicious. I tried the chèvre and my wife had the tomate, and both dishes were full of flavor and beautifully prepared. Our waitress was kind, attentive, and very helpful throughout the meal. However, the host at the front door could use some training in hospitality. She seemed disinterested and unwelcoming, which wasn’t a great first impression. Thankfully, the quality of the food and the excellent service once we were seated made up for it. Would definitely come back, but hope for a warmer welcome next time.

The food was good. Nothing amazing, but good. We didn’t get served for a very long time and it was hard to get anyone’s attention, although other tables didn’t seem to have that problem.

Agustins, a family-owned and operated Mexican restaurant, offers exceptional and genuine Mexican cuisine. Their slow-cooked shredded beef impresses with its flavorful taste and tender consistency. The chicken is also delightful. Not only are the portions generous, but the service is outstanding as well. The restaurant's charming ambiance is enhanced by antique decorations that depict the glory days of San Juan Capistrano.
This family owned and operated with love authentic Mexican food is just awesome!! The slow cooked shredded beef is amazing with its rich flavor and tender texture. The chicken is delicious! If you are looking for delicious authentic Mexican food with great service and a unique and memorable environment, Agustin’s is you spot.

Everyone was very nice and the decor was cool. The salsa was good, making us think it would be authentic food. Unfortunately, it was not. The food was bland and tasted like it was made with the cheapest cheese etc.

This has been our favorite secret place for decades. The service is great. The food is delicious and the prices are awesome. We always leave with to go boxes. It’s was my spouses and my place to go. Quiet. Unassuming and dare I say wonderful. One of our favorites was the non-menus secret thing we always got. I’m a sucker for the seafood stuff. Their rice and beans are so good and their chips and salsa have a great kick. There is usually a sports game playing in the back…. Gold beers a plenty. Kids will like it too. The collection of cool old school Tonka trucks is awesome and the mementos of a generation of farming and train and life are everywhere. It’s a step back in time. No fancy stuff. No drama. Just a great place to sit down and enjoy a delicious meal. My only thing now is since the spouse passed from cancer…. I have not been back. But all of ya’ll should visit. It’s a secret South OC SPOT… that has decades of history. Cold beer… chips… salsa… guacamole…. And delicious food. My spouse always had a mixed enchiladas…. The whole deep fried fish and me with the seafood quesadilla…. Happy belly- Happy Life.
