Kaʻena Point State Park is a remote coastal area located on the westernmost tip of Oahu, Hawaii. It offers scenic and rugged hiking trails along a lava shoreline, making it a must-see for nature lovers. The five-mile-long Kaena Point Trail provides stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, tide pools, and encounters with wildlife such as humpback whales, Hawaiian monk seals, and Albatross birds.
A beautiful park where you can hike along the rocky coastline of northwestern Oahu. There’s parking on the southwest entrance and the northeast entrance, but there’s no road between the two so the only way to reach the point is to walk. It’s a great hike, easy with virtually no elevation gain, but lots of great sites of the coast, mountains, and (if you’re lucky) wildlife. There’s a predator fence once you get about a half mile from the point, intended to keep out rats, cats, and other opportunists from getting to the nests of the shorebirds, which you’ll almost certainly see. Beyond that, there are some sand dunes and then rocky tide pools. There were a handful of kids and their parents swimming in them, so bring along swimming gear in case you want to cool off before your hike back!

Wow so amazing! If you could take the time to go there, definitely do! There's a gate to fence off mongoose so it's a bird sanctuary in there past the fence. So many different types of birds that aren't afraid of people. Albatross doing mating dance, baby albatross squeaking, etc. reminds me a lot of the Galapagos. The O'ahu west coastline was also visible at the pillbox. It's such a nice spot to sit and enjoy some snacks and the sunset. It's too bad that the sun set behind the clouds, but we got beautiful views of everything. We just soaked it all in. It's the most remote part of O'ahu and it's amazing. If you don't wanna walk all the way to the west, you can drive but you'll need to apply for a permit and have a vehicle with high clearance and decent tires. It's ok without a 4wd or awd if it's not raining. It's dry mud and lots of small to medium sized rocks. The path was mostly visible with tire tracks. But just in case it rains, and it can come down heavily, it's best to go with an awd or 4wd because you can get stuck in mud, and also skid from wet mud so drive slowly so the tires have good grip of the road. Doable to drive in rainy weather and in the dark too. I did it :-) Overall fun off-roading experience! However, driving back out can be tricky as there are multiple roads sometimes. Just make sure you hug the mountain when leaving. It's so worth the visit. It didn't feel like O'ahu at all. It's a special magical place on the most populated Hawaiian island. Aloha!

A pleasant walk down a 4x4 road past local fisherman surf casting and camping. The views of the coastline and mountains was great. Once at the point it was amazing to walk among the albatross chicks and peer into the tide pools. The neatest was being able to view the North and west shores of Oahu. Very beautiful.
Tim M — Google review
Beautiful location for a walk, hike, fishing, sun bathing, monk seal or arvatross watching and many more seaside. Make sure to check out the coastal trail now open which places you closest to the water but no so close you have to be wary of the ocean taking you away. The breeze, the ocean smell and the wild life magical experience. Parking lot is free however there are no bathrooms or trash cans so take it and take it out please, garbage that is.
Mr O — Google review
A nice walk/hike along the coastline. It's recommended to bring water and wear a hat. You should arrive early enough as its takes a few hours to complete if you like stopping at each marker. Wear hiking and comfortable shoes as there is mixed terrain (loose sand, compact sand, rocks). If you plan on getting into the water plan appropriately. There are no restrooms along the way.

Nice beach to visit. The birds are friendly here and the sunset views are great.

Tamura Super Market is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Oahu, especially if you're heading to the beautiful beaches of Makaha. This well-stocked supermarket offers an impressive selection of fresh produce, meats, and seafood, making it a convenient stop for both locals and visitors alike. The highlight here is undoubtedly the poke bar, where you can indulge in incredibly fresh raw fish that will tantalize your taste buds.
Just arrived to Hawaii from Australia and the first shopping I did was at Tamara Supermarket WAIANAE on the way to surf Makaha on the west side of Oahu. I visited the POKE’ bar within Tamura Supermarket and had the most delicious raw fish imaginable. So fresh and so unbelievably tasty. Then we had Pipikaula, a version of fresh softer beef jerky which was also incredible. You really need to visit this supermarket! Just saying!
Teakay J — Google review
Best poke! Super fresh, delicious, generous portions and affordable! So many choices as well. I wish I could try all of them! I wished they had avocado add on but I just got one at the store and added it!

Great market on the Westside. Polite service. Wish I had a chance to try the great poke selection!

Quick and easy for in and out. Little bit of everything. Fresh produce, seafood and common groceries. All your laundry, animal food, bath and liquor. Deli area in the entrance and a large deli area.

Poke bowl here is good. Taste so fresh. Seasoning is smoky, sweet spicy flavor. Reasonable price, will definitely come again!

I'm so disappointed with the breakfast i got. I ordered french toast. The french toast was bread and egg. Thats it. No cinnamon or vanilla flavoring at all. Plus i waited so long for my food. I understand it was kind of busy but to me the cook in the back kept messing up. If your cook don't know how to cook. I think you should get another cook.

Makaha Beach Park, situated at the western end of Oahu near Waianae, is a favorite spot for locals and surfers during winter. The beach features clear waters and gentle waves, making it ideal for swimming and family outings. It also offers excellent snorkeling opportunities with abundant marine life. Additionally, Makaha Beach is renowned for world-class surfing conditions and provides a chance to encounter large green turtles during calm periods.
A great beach about an hour car ride from Honolulu it was very beautiful watching the waves crashing on the beach you have to be very mindful of the warning signs. they’re there for your safety. That current will sweep you out there faster than you know.
Lester D — Google review
Beautiful beach in Makaha. Many travelers worried about safe in the Waianae and Makaha beaches but I feel safe in this beach. The wave is little strong but no matter to swim. Just take care children. I can enjoy beautiful sunset on the beach. Front side is Pacific ocean, back side is incredible mountain, beautiful sunset in the sky... I didn't see any turtles or whales, but just being there was amazing. If you visit this town, please come and enjoy this jewely beach.
Micky K — Google review
Really nice beach that's quieter than the Honolulu beaches. Fairly steep beach that quickly drops off beyond standing depth. The waves were also a bit rougher than some of the other beaches so definite care should be taken with smaller kids and weak swimmers. The view of the mountains was beautiful at sunset and thr bigger waves were a lot of fun to swim / float in. We didn't see any bathrooms although the park states they have them. It's a long beach though so maybe we were not close to them. Parking can be a bit sketchy along the highway.
Brian W — Google review
I'd say this is definitely a local beach. We didn't have any concerns in felt very welcomed, but We may have been the only tourists there. The servant waves here were very strong in the rip current was all so very strong. But my 10 and 7-year-old grandkids or enjoying the picture of and learning to ride their buggy boards here. Beware the surface strong and you will wind up with sand literally everywhere there's a shower across the street at the restrooms
P. M — Google review
Not a very busy location. Steep entry to water. There was a good rip current pulling you sideways. No bathroom at the beach but a shower to rinse off. Surfers riding waves and some good size waves. There were some areas that was good to swim in. Parking is minimal but we were able to find a spot.
Tony V — Google review
The water was crystal clear. Greatly enjoyed our evening at the beach here. Sunset was so beautiful! Showers and changing area across the road if needed.

Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for a new dining experience, this restaurant's comfortable atmosphere and stunning views make it an ideal choice.
Cannot express how exceptional our anniversary dinner was here. Vibe was perfect! Drinks were excellent, coconut shrimp and both Ahi dinners we had were the best thing we had on the island. Watching the beautiful sunset while eating great food, this is a must! We will be back next visit in Oahu!

Four for lunch. Definitely a place to come for the view! Food was good, but not amazing, and service was friendly and attentive. Shared coconut shrimp to start; garden variety that you can buy frozen from at the supermarket. Two had panko crusted ahi that was cooked as ordered (rare), one had fish and chips - fish was very good with average chips and finally a loco moco - eggs ordered over easy but what came out were hard over, but hamburger was good, as was the gravy.
Alex B — Google review
Been there a few times and always had a great time. This time around the timeliness of service was poor. It appeared the bartender was slowing down the whole operation. The manager was killing it though. Great spot for food and a sunset on the beach. The atmosphere is great especially when the live music gets going. Edit: I went again on a Thursday afterwards and was left with the same service. Beer took about 30 minutes but it came out flat. I decided to go with a Bud Light. We finally got to order food, but he asked about my flat beer and disappeared. Once he asked for food order. We were delivered food about 30 minutes later, with no silverware. We ate our food cold due to waiting for silverware and enjoyed one beer before we left. Every other time had been great but I’m not sure about the last two times
Donnie W — Google review
The atmosphere is nice although getting into the restaurant is difficult with the military guarding. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Really wanted to love the food as was our first real meal in Hawaii but it was just okay. My fish tacos lacked flavor and the fish was very tough. Wouldn’t come back.
Shannon M — Google review
Great location, beautiful views and friendly staff. Food and drinks are okay, nothing special. I ordered seafood pasta and the ratio of pasta to seafood was off. Very little fish, too much pasta. The drink were too sweet. Nice local place to try orverall.
Farida A — Google review
It’s a beautiful location for sure but parking was tough, service was a little slow and the food was not as good as expected for the price. The clam chowder was very good.
Meghan S — Google review
If you're looking for a nice dinner with professional service and good food, do yourself a favor and skip this place. My experience was an absolute circus from start to finish. The atmosphere was less like a restaurant and more like a rowdy frat party. I understand it’s a Saturday night and there is live music but the noise level was deafening, making it impossible to have a conversation without shouting. The real issues, however, began when I noticed the revolving door to the kitchen. I saw multiple people, who clearly weren't staff, casually wandering in and out of the kitchen. A couple of them were even carrying what looked like alcoholic beverages, which is a massive red flag for any restaurant concerned with food safety. When our food finally arrived, it was a total mess. One person's entree came out a full 15 minutes before the rest of the table's, leaving them to either eat alone or let their food get cold. The staff seemed completely oblivious and unprofessional, offering no apology or explanation for the terrible timing. It's clear that health and safety standards, not to mention basic customer service, are not a priority here. Save your money and eat anywhere else.

Puerto Rican restaurant
Restaurant
Coquito's is a laid-back restaurant that serves Puerto Rican, Colombian, and Caribbean specialties in a vibrant outdoor setting. The menu offers delicious options such as tostones and a steak sandwich on plantain patties. Customers praise the authentic boricua food, flavorful dishes like pastel boricua and Cuban sandwich, and the refreshing pina colada drink. The food is described as fresh, flavorful, and reminiscent of home-cooked meals rather than typical restaurant fare.
Small restaurant - big flavors! I absolutely loved the atmosphere. It feels like I was eating at my friend’s restaurant, it felt so welcoming. The food is incredible! We ordered almost everything from the menu just to try and we loved everything. The flavors are incredible and so delicious. Definitely worth driving a bit further out just to get this food. We definitely will be back for more. Oh and you can bring your own beer, that’s just awesome!

Who would have thought? Authentic Puerto Rican food almost 6000 miles away from the island! Delicious mofongo! We'll be back for sure before we leave!
Jason B — Google review
Absolutely delicious! The best mofongo I’ve had in a long time, everything was perfect! Friendly, welcoming service made it even better. A true hidden gem in Hawaii!
Jasmine C — Google review
My hubby and I love this place. When we are craving Puerto Rican food and I do not feel like cooking, this is where we go. It is a drive from Mililani, but oh so worth the trip. Everything on the menu is delicious and as a picky puerto rican eater, I give them 5 stars! Today we ate the pernil plate with gandule rice (arroz con gandules) and sweet plantains, beef stew (carne guisada) with white rice and mixed salad with ranch dressing. The staff is super friendly, the atmosphere relaxing, the music is awesome, and the amount of food on the plates is just right! If you are new to the area and want to try some Latin cuisine, stop by, you will not be disappointed!

A gem on the island that you wouldn’t have expected! Worth the drive from Honolulu. A great menu, taste true Puerto Rican cuisine. The plantains were the highlight, served in so many ways

Oh good lawd... This place is a hidden gem because it's hidden all the way on the west side of Oahu in Wainae. The staff and service is so lovely and the food is just devine!
Fes N — Google review
Coquito in Oahu is a hidden gem serving authentic Puerto Rican food that hits all the right notes. It’s rare to find a place that knows how to make perfectly crispy, flavorful tostones but they’ve mastered it here. The restaurant has a cozy, welcoming vibe that truly feels like home, and the service was excellent from start to finish. A must visit for anyone craving comfort food with soul.
Merzelie C — Google review
I came here Thursday January 16, 2025 with my other half and we absolutely loved every thing about this restaurant, the server was so kind and very patient, she answered every question with detail and gave amazing suggestions. We started off with the Caribbean Jerk Wings - 1000/10 These wings were the best wings I’ve ever eaten, my mouth is just watering thinking about it. The chicken was nice and crispy, and tender and juicy on the inside covered in their homemade jerk sauce. The jerk sauce was the perfect amount of spice, and they definitely do not hold back on the sauce because every piece of chicken was smothered. Spicy, sweet and, flavorful. I got the Pernil plate 9.8/10 Kinda like Kalua pig, except I believe they throw it in a pan and pan fry it a little, which makes pieces of the pork nice and crispy. I absolutely loved the crunchy texture that it added. Yet the pork still had nice soft and juicy pieces like regular Kalua pig. It didn’t have that smoky flavor of a Kalua pig but the taste was very clean, a dash of salt and dipping it in their red sauce a beautiful flavor combination. Sides : gandule rice 9/10 Very flavorful but adding the jerk chicken sauce to it took it to another level. Plantain chips: 10/10 the perfect seasoning of salt and the crunch was unreal! My other half got the chuleton frito 10/10 Served with a side of their homemade Chimichurri sauce, the steak was cooked to perfection and definitely seasoned to perfection, I don’t know what they marinate the meat in but it’s by far one of the best meats I’ve tasted. Sides : Gandule rice 9/10 Potato salad 12/10 Not like most potato salads where there’s chucks of potatoes, but nice and creamy defensively melts in your mouth and hits all the taste buds, the seasoning on point and everything blended so good together, my boyfriend had the idea to dip it in the jerk sauce from the chicken and it took it to a out of this world flavor. Deserts: tres leche 10/10 the real deal tres leche, with every bite it took me back to my trip to Puerto Rico, perfect amount of cinnamon and the strawberry they serve with it not sour but sweet ! And so fresh. Every bite was delicious. Atmosphere: 10/10 great music and vibes. Soon as bad bunny came on my boyfriend started dancing. And he’s never one to step out his comfort zone. And the Puerto Rican flags and the decorations everything screamed authentic Puerto Rican. Definitely took you from one island to another ❤️

No. 1 Chinese & BBQ Restaurant is a takeout place that may lack ambiance but compensates with its tasty cuisine and affordable prices. A family can enjoy a satisfying dinner here before heading to the beach to catch the sunset. The portions are incredibly generous, allowing for multiple meals from one order. Opting for the thicker noodles will treat your palate with a delightful garlic flavor. The sweet and sour spare ribs are succulent, easily falling off the bone while striking a perfect balance of sweetness.
Had the double cheeseburger deluxe and the BBQ chicken plate for lunch and it was cooked excellent as usual so I thought I'd finally post my review of this place.Great food for a good price.Thx you all.
Hildegard B — Google review
This is a takeout place so the restaurant is nothing special but what it lacks in atmosphere it makes up for in food and value. The family and I went for dinner, grabbed takeout to head to the beach and watch the sunset. Portions are huge. You can easily get 2 meals out of this if you wanted (but we didn't because we like to eat). We got the thicker noodles which were garlic-y and delicious. The sweet and sour spare ribs are fall off the bone without being too sweet. Loved them. The pork is also very tender and delicious. orange chicken was probably our least favorite. Tender and fresh but not very strong in the orange department. The chicken katsu is ok, I'd skip it and get the pork. Beef with broccoli was also delicious. Great food as a whole!

My first time and it will be my last time. I could barely understand what they were saying or repeating back to me. I've had many Chinese food in different types and places. The places is really run down with homeless young guys around the outside asking for money (you could tell they were on drugs) and the food looked over cooked and not as appealing as the pictures shown as well as it is way over priced for the amount you receive. The shrimp was way over cooked and hard to eat. A lot of battered meat items were soggy. Note: bring cash - no CC pmts.

Went second time and asked for food to be cooked fresh and was given very little meat and tray felt much lighter.did not get my money worth second time around . Think they got upset because I asked for food to be cooked fresh and I think that is why I was given less food.most likely never going there again . Have to find new chinese food place to order from.

The food is delicious, they have a variety of choices, very generous on the servings, whether it's their plate lunch, or their pan food and the price is unbelievably reasonable & soft on the wallet for the amount of food they give. The service is quick and the counter help workers are friendly, unless your one of those rude customers. Don't be fooled but the outter appearance of the building or location. Their food is great! Spinners Cafe is a charming spot that serves breakfast and lunch from 7 AM to 2 PM. Whether you opt for takeout or dine-in, the menu offers a variety of delicious options. The breakfast burrito with bacon is highly recommended, offering a perfect portion size at a reasonable cost. For those craving heartier fare, the bacon cheeseburger with fries and delectable fry sauce hits the spot. The friendly staff ensures quick service and accommodates special requests.
Positive experience! Simple, but tasty and plentiful food. Service was very eager and quick too. Try the Açaí Bowl for a great mix of diced fresh fruit with half a cup of açaí ice cream! I loved it.

My first breakfast at this cafe was this morning and it was an incredible choice. Hours are 7 AM to 2PM. There is a take out window and dine in. If the take out line is long check the dine in entrance, the door has a sign if there is seating available and I was told there have been times when the dine out line was long with no one inside. I had the breakfast burrito with bacon. This was a very tasty burrito. I felt the portion size was perfect. Cost is very reasonable. I consider the food better than a fast food restaurant at almost the same price so Spinners Cafe has become my go to place for breakfast on the Waianae coast. Lunches are next.

As of today, they don't have dine-in, only window pickup, and the menu had shrunk significantly! I'm not sure what happened because they hardly pick up their phone calls (which is ironic if you only have carry-out orders). I hope they get back to what they once were; worthy of at least a 4 star!

Beaches
Pōkaʻī Bay Beach Park, located on the west side of Oahu, is a popular spot for families and beginner surfers. The calm waters protected by a breakwater make it ideal for swimming and kayaking. This 15-acre beach is known for its beautiful scenery and is perfect for relaxation. Families with young children will appreciate the safety of the beach, while visitors can enjoy the clean sand and opportunities to spot sea turtles.
Cool beach where the locals hang out with their families. I noticed fishermen on the rock wall jetties and the water was completely flat, making it a serene place for families and their kids to swim. Good bathroom/changing rooms, plenty of parking, and adequate trash bins. Also, just 5m drive from the 7-11.

I brought my family here. It's a kids friendly beach with no waves and not deep enough for drowning either. The water is Cristal clear at the point that you can see your feet.
Seydou C — Google review
It's a hidden gem! Great vibe, beautiful beach. I loved it
Gabriella B — Google review
One of the best beaches in island for younger children. Very fine, soft sand. No waves, and the water is very shallow. There is a small playground and area for kids to run around. There are only two bad things about this beach. The main problem is the bathroom facilities. The homeless have ruined them like every other beach on island. The second issue is you do have to stay away from certain areas as the crazier homeless sometimes take over until the cops remove them. It’s mainly on the left side of the beach, or at the bathrooms. If you stick to the right side, you will never have issues. Even still!
Tayler W — Google review
This was a nice beach and park. Sand was soft and not a lot of rocks which made it perfect for the kids. Wasn't too crowded either. Calm waters and it was nice to see the canoe teams practicing too. Would visit again.
Kehaulani S — Google review
My favorite beach in Wai’anae. Able to relax with keiki in shallower section to the left. Gtandchild got a bee sting as we moseyed on over to OSO’s John met us at the ramp, saw us going in that direction. John liquored her up with alcohol, lol, and gave Olena an extra bandaid since she wasn’t ready to go home.
Cath R — Google review
This was a calm area, for beginner snorkelers. There were turtles in the water nearby. It was a nice place to swim and not over crowded.
J P — Google review
Great little park for family picnic, gathering or just hanging at the beach. Bathrooms are portables until they fix up the permanent ones. This place gets busy on the weekends in the afternoon and Sundays you can sometimes catch a tent sermon on the grass. Found a little out of the way spot to hang out. Few homeless but they are pretty chill.

Marina
Waiʻanae Small Boat Harbor is a popular starting point for early morning dolphin watching tours and fishing boat charters. Visitors can stock up on supplies at the nearby Waianae Mall Shopping Center before heading to Pokai Bay. Local roadside vendors offer unique Hawaiian treats and food. A relaxing sunset cruise along the Waiʻanae Coast provides light appetizers and cocktails on a comfortable 65-foot catamaran.
So we launched from this harbor on a Dolphins and You snorkeling excursion. Great fun!! The crew is outstanding!! Captain Danni gets a huge shout out for finding the perfect spot. A'noi is the photographer / guide and is extremely accommodating. Cyren is the boats MC and is truly awesome. The entire crew really seems to care about having a good time. Many thanks!!!

Great harbor, perfect for mooring your boat. Bit of a shame about the few homeless communities that surround the area but if you keep yourself to yourself so will they. Few dogs that wander around belong to them, they're friendly and no cause for alarm. Toilet facilities here are pretty good here and clean. There's spinners café on the exit road of the harbor which does great food.

We did the Dolphin Snorkel tour. The crew was friendly and enjoyable. We saw dolphins and whales and did snorkeling.

Beautiful! Clean. And bathrooms have doors which is nice. I went to a couple in Honolulu that didn't and it was very awkward.

You absolutely must go on the dolphin tour and snorkeling the crew was amazing with captain Danny, mikah, bren and team gave a five star experience and their boat and bus was great!!!!

A small harbor on the west side of Oahu, off the Farrington highway in Wai'anae town. We drove there for sunset cruise. West side of the island is still retaining the wilderness of the volcanic island as contrast to the overly developed Waikiki area. However, during rush hours, traffic is slowing down to stop and go in some sections near beaches.

Hawaiian restaurant
Poke bar
Aloha Poke is a laid-back café in Waianae, known for its authentic Hawaiian poke bowls and plated lunches. The restaurant offers create-your-own poke bowls with a variety of fresh seafood and traditional seasonings like salt, limu, crushed kukui nut, and chili pepper. Their best-selling poke bowls have set high standards for quality and taste. Visitors can enjoy the fresh catch of raw fish seasoned to perfection in a casual counter-service setting.
We couldn’t stop going back & 100% would go back if I could stay longer. The poke was fresh and delicious! We continued to get the spicy mayo poke & tried out other flavor alongside it. + over rice, but definitely try the wonton nachos, they were an AMAZING option!
Alana W — Google review
DELICIOUS poke! Great service. I had salmon poke and C had tune poke! The poke was super flavorful, there were lots of extraS but we didn’t try those.
Natasha R — Google review
Amazing food, the poke sauce is made right in front of you and dressed onto the poke. Some of the options are pretty spicy so you are definitely getting what you asked for. Reasonably priced for how good it is.
Robert A — Google review
So many different options on top of the poke!! So I ended up getting steak and asparagus and a side of 1/4 lb of poke. Everything was so good. I loved the steak to be honest. The service was impeccable. The clerk skipped the tip option before I could give her a tip and I asked why…. And she responded with we just want you to come back… safe to say that’s going to happen.

I took my family, who is from out of town here for lunch. They had a lot questions since they aren’t super familiar with local style foods and the auntie who was working was so helpful answering their questions and let them sample a couple different kind of poke so they could figure out what kind they liked. The food here is amazing and I will absolutely be coming back and be recommending/bringing future friends and family here.

The best poke we had on the island. They were very welcoming and have an amazing menu with great variety and prices. If you pass this place and like Poke, you have to stop in and get some.

Shopping
Waiʻanae Mall is a shopping center located on the picturesque west coast of Oahu, along Farrington Highway. Spanning 171,600 square feet, it houses a diverse range of retailers, dining options, and service-oriented businesses. The mall has been undergoing revitalization efforts with some buildings being renovated and new establishments opening up such as a seed and candy store, walk-in clinic, fresh fruit and vegetable store, and a morning Chinese eatery offering an array of dishes.
Plenty of places to eat and its pretty much a one stop shop. Ypu can get pretty much anything you need at longs. Then theirs food places and even a mobile

Great little mall with a few restaurants and shops even a ladies fashion store . Of course the Longs Store as well . Every Saturday morning 9-12 is a local farmers market in the parking lot behind the Burger King with produce and lots of prepared foods
KK — Google review
Lack of decent stores/restaurants, and too many homeless causing issues. There is usually some trash or spilled items laying around, and the smell of urine. They have security guards, but I don’t think they are around 24/7. They seem to keep the homeless at bay during the day for the most part, but they come out at night. The clinic/welfare center for the homeless brings them in and ruins any other businesses chance of thriving. If you walk through the inside corridor, you will see how depressing it is.
Tayler W — Google review
No washrooms so Longs Drugs has a washroom. Burger King has a washroom. Subway has no bathrooms for patrons.

Good mini mall - one stop location for most of your needs. Has Burger King, Starbucks, Jamba, Pizza Hut, Longs Drug, City Mill, a gas station, and 2 banks (BoA & BoH) plus a few other restaurants. The only thing missing is a grocery store at this location. Also has a Planet Fitness and a few new restaurants including a Boba place and one that sells cream puffs and other pastries (808 Puffs) at the old Pizza Hut location (Pizza Hut is now located in the main mall and has take-out and delivery, no dine-in option).

Nānākuli Beach Park is an ideal destination for those seeking a less crowded beach experience. With its smooth sandy shores, impressive waves, and breathtaking scenery, this beach offers an unreal water color that will leave you in awe. However, caution should be exercised as the water can become deep close to the shore, making it important to keep an eye on children.
We love this beach, so much different wave action coming onto a beach that has some nuanced rolls to it. Waves can change quickly but the color between the blue, white foam and sand being rolled into the surf make it a beautiful time. Smaller children often need to be kept on the sand and away from the water.

Yeah, this place is epic. Sunset swimming was amazing. Relatively calm waves for the kiddos, my 6 and 8 year old did great. Good amount of parking during our visit.

An amazing beach. Parking is very limited but you can park on the street around the area. (As of 12/17/2022)The bathrooms here work but the women's stall only had one stall that was fully functional. The beach is clean. Spots are first come first serve. The beach is very photogenic during the sunset hours. Overall, a very nice beach.

Absolutely loved this beach and this is where mermaid cove is if you're looking for it and this beach comes up. The water was wonderful and the waves were small. Lots of awesome people around. They have bathrooms and outside wster fountains and showers to rinse off at. The sand was nice and didn't feel like sandpaper walking on it. Make sure you wear filp flops because you might step on a thorn . Definitely go and visit.
HMbaram — Google review
This is a really nice beach. Its clean, has two bathroom and shower areas. The beach is huge and has rock cliffs on the far sides of the beach. Surf is pretty wicked over there so use caution but its definitely fun boogie boarding. The water is really clear but not much to see as far as snorkeling goes as it's only sand at the bottom, unless you swim out about 200 yards. All in all this is a really great find and I'd definitely recommend

Pho restaurant
Saito & Pho II is a Vietnamese restaurant that has been in business for over ten years. They offer traditional pho as well as other dishes. Their menu includes a variety of options such as waygu steak with rice, salad soup, tempera, and sashimi. The food is delicious and reasonably priced, making it a great choice for a meal.
Yum! The food here is on point. The broth for the pho is ono and consistent. The wafu steak has an impressive presentation. The atmosphere is a bit rough—definitely not the restaurant for first dates, but maybe a year in lol. Overall, this restaurant is great and worth trying.

Food was ok. Not bad but we got there as they were opening. They ran a little late. Google has there time at 1030 but they open at 1100, the staff got there just after 1100 and was setting up. The pho was not to the temperature I like but the portion size was good. The meats tasted good and the garlic chicken was maybe the most enjoyable dish we had.

Pretty much everything that I have eaten there has been good, except for their crab Rangoon It could use way more filling. It’s like 95% won ton wrapper and 5% filling Add more filling and would be excellent!

The service at Tacos & More was excellent! Although we were the only non-locals there, it didn't affect our experience. We had the entire dining room to ourselves, as we were a party of two adults and two children. The food was a bit expensive considering the quality, but this is expected in Hawaii. They have a great selection for happy hour and also offer take-out, which was a convenient option.
We love this place, it's our favorite watering hole. These are really friendly folks, they make you feel at home the minute you walk through the door. The food is good & fairly priced ... We come here pretty regular and always end up patting our full tummies and leaving with warm happy feelings. I always try to invite my friends, because this is a great environment to kick back and have a good time. Come check it out ☺️

We spent Cinco de Mayo here. Great Cadillac Margaritas! The Carne Asada was proper and the Garlic Shrimp was excellently prepared. The service and staff were prompt and friendly. Our only issue was the number of flies. We won't let that stop us from returning!
Cindi L — Google review
Service was great! Clearly the only non-locals there but it didn’t make any difference. We had the whole dining room to ourselves, two adults and two children. Food was a bit pricey for the quality but not surprising in Hawaii. Great happy hour selections. Also noticed that they offer take out which was a nice option. All in all it was a nice find, would not eat there more than once but it hit the spot that night.
Meredith N — Google review
The food was great! The service was good. We found it a bit odd that they didn't serve complimentary chips and salsa (this increased our bill, as well). But the price of their margaritas is absolutely ridiculous for that area. 4 margaritas, chips and salsa, 2 side orders of sour cream and guacamole, 1 shrimp fajita and 1 chicken fajita for $100, including tip! Price is what brought on the 3 star rating.

I had the opportunity to photograph this place for GoDaddy and the owners and staff are first class! They treated me like family and even told me as I was leaving if I ever needed anything, to let them know. I came back with my husband to eat and the food was fantastic! My husband loves spicy so we asked to make his food as spicy as possible and they came through. He loved his food! We will definitely go back when we are on that side of the island!

I had the chicken fajita. Which was a good sized portion, however, there was no seasoning on it. No grill marks on the chicken it seemed like it was boiled??? Big chunks of raw crispy peppers, not really cooked at all, more like heated up. My girl had the burrito. She said it had no flavor too, even before I commented on my food. Cool place tho. Neat bar area. The staff was nice & courteous. Food would have been great considering the portion size, just no seasoning????

Nestled in the lively town of Waianae, Pokai Bay Restaurant is a culinary treasure offering a delightful array of flavors that will tantalize your taste buds. Situated just across from Pokai Beach, this eatery serves up delectable dishes such as the perfectly fried Hurricane Chicken and coconut shrimp that are simply irresistible. Guests rave about the juicy garlic chicken and katsu chicken with its standout sauce, while the cheeseburger and loaded fries are also highly recommended.
We visited Pokai Bay Restaurant for lunch during a sweltering Hawaiian day, and it turned out to be a great experience. The restaurant itself is charming, offering a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere that complemented the tropical surroundings perfectly. The staff were exceptional—friendly, attentive, and impressively fast. Their service added an extra layer of warmth to an already delightful outing. The food was the real highlight. We ordered an array of dishes, starting with the Mahi-Mahi sandwich accompanied by garlic fries—both bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The Mahi-Mahi plates and Hurricane Chicken fried noodles were equally impressive, with fresh ingredients and well-balanced flavors. I also opted for the buttered chicken with salad, and it didn’t disappoint. Everything tasted homemade, light, and far from greasy, embodying comfort food at its best. The portions were generous, and the prices surprisingly reasonable for the quality of food we enjoyed. It was clear that the restaurant takes great pride in delivering satisfying meals that feel both elevated and approachable. Although we didn’t have a chance to try their desserts, they looked absolutely delicious, so we’re already looking forward to our next visit. Overall, Pokai Bay Restaurant is a gem that delivers fresh, tasty food, wonderful service, and unbeatable value. Highly recommended! 😋

Don't let the drive and exterior fool you, this little quant place may look like a hole in the wall, but it's far from it! Once you step inside you are greeted by the staff and have a small selection of tables to choose from, if they aren't too busy I would recommend sitting down and dining in, if they are busy and you have plenty of time, order to go and take your food to the beach park across the way! If you arrive early enough you might be able to snag a turnover! But if not the Cream puff was delicious and the brownie looks excellent! I had the Loco Moco, and my wife had the Garlic Chicken with noodles. Deni was the best! You definitely get your money's worth here! Portions are big, flavorful and the Garlic Chicken has a nice sweet flavor while also being crunchy, juicy and tender! We definitely will come by again when we can!

Don’t think, JUST GO! Tucked away in a cozy setting, Pokai Bay Restaurant offers a welcoming atmosphere and a menu filled with island comfort food that doesn’t disappoint. From the moment you walk in, the homey decor and friendly service make you feel right at ease. Whether you’re stopping by for breakfast, lunch, or a quick bite, the portions are generous, and the flavors are spot on. Their Cinnamon French Toast, dusted with powdered sugar and served with syrup, is a standout for anyone with a sweet tooth. For something savory, the Hurricane Chicken Saimin is a must-try, featuring crispy fried chicken piled high on a bed of flavorful noodles with furikake and sesame seeds adding an umami punch. If you’re in the mood for a hearty meal, the BBQ Pulled Pork Plate, served with fluffy white rice and creamy mac salad, is rich, smoky, and satisfying. The Crinkle-Cut Fries with Mustard Mayo are a simple yet addictive side, while sweet treats like the Coconut Cake, covered in whipped frosting and coconut shavings, and the Caramel-Glazed Donuts round out the experience perfectly. The overall quality, friendly service, and satisfying portions make this underrated local gem well worth the visits. Whether you’re a regular or a first-time visitor, Pokai Bay Restaurant delivers on taste, value, and the comforting flavors of home. You can sense the family pride, history, and love that’s put into the meals. Servers were amazing and I enjoyed my leftovers for sure!

I'm not sure how we found this restaurant but I'm sure glad we did. What a gem. My wife and I had the garlic chicken but with different noodles. Both were awesome. I'm not sure how they kept the chicken so juicey while deep frying them with batter but they pulled it off. Our guest had the katsu chicken which I also tried. This was also very good but the sauce really stole the show on that plate. My daughter had a cheese burger with some loaded fries which she really enjoyed. I tried the fries. The sauce was epic. This is must stop of you are in the area. And try the deserts!

Wendy's is a fast-food eatery that offers sides like chili and baked potatoes. The employees are highly skilled and the establishment maintains excellent cleanliness standards. It's a convenient spot to grab a quick bite, which proves satisfactory overall. However, the lemonade is overly sugary, making it difficult to consume. The fries and sandwich are served at an optimal temperature, ensuring a enjoyable dining experience.
I've been to this Wendy's many times since it opened. I live in Maili, so I didn't have to go all the way to Kapolei for my Wendy's fix. The Waianae store started to go down in quality of food and service over the few years. It's back up! Had a great experience. Service was fantastic, and food was great. One of the best Wendy's Bacon & Cheese Baked Potatoes I've had. Keep it up guys! P.S. get more Coca-Cola!

Went to the drive thru on Mon August 08/11/25 @ 10:45pm just to order. 2 orders of 6pc nuggets w/bbq sauce and 1 order of baconator fries. So we go to pay for order the female employee w/red hair told us to park up front and our order will be right out. 30minutes later the same employee that took & rang our order up brought out our order. So we double check our order cause we always do and come to find out I was just missing the bbq sauce. The same employees the girl w/red hair was still outside So I figure asked if I could get the bbq sauce. Without saying anything " She looked at us "as if we was asking for to much and that we were somehow bothering her in a way. 1st of girly if you got it right the 1st time i wouldnt have to asked". But without saying anything she walks back slowly and she had us waiting another 10minutes just for sauce...SLOW, HORRIBLE, AND WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER...NEVER GOING BACK...

Employees were slow moving like zombies. We were the only Caucasian customers on the premises and it was clear that we were being ignored on purpose. Other customers were getting their orders before us to include those in the drive-thru. I had to ask for a status on our Frosty's and the one employee said they were "short-handed" which didn't explain why others were getting their orders before us. I had to ask a second time for our order before it was filled. I spoke briefly with the heavy-set female manager and explained that we were being ignored and all she said was, "Sorry about that" with no other comments. Our experience here was awful and it was clear we were being ignored because of our race. This place sucked!!! Don't go there.

Usually get good service at drive thru service. Today I went in the restaurant and ordered 2 takeout meals. Cashier had an attitude like I (a customer) was an inconvenience to him/ the store. I asked for a drink holder and he flung it up in air and on the counter. I mean, what customer service. Do you folks train your employees to be friendly and courtesy to customers who actually was the ones paying for their paychecks? Just wondering.

Day 3

Off the beaten path
For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Māʻili Beach Park. Not quite as popular as Pōkaʻī Bay Beach Park, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 7 hours.

Māʻili Beach Park is a picturesque park with a long, narrow beach that offers opportunities for surfing and snorkeling. The park features a playground, restrooms, and the possibility of camping with a permit. It is known for its large wave surf during winter months but can be enjoyed throughout the year. Visitors have described it as a great neighborhood beach with plenty of local gatherings and parties being set up.
Been to this Beach many times . Its always a favorite fir sunset photos. With long stretches of beautiful white sand beach .its a place that one can come and remember just how blessed we are to live in such a place. Be respectful and remember to spread some aloha..

Maili Beach Park - arguably the best , longest , well maintained beach and park. Playground, clear water , fluffy sand , restrooms, plenty of trash cans, large grassy areas, children and dog friendly park.

Best BBQ picnic ever. It was so nice to sit ocean side grilling some meat.

Beautiful roadside park with many picnic tables and lots of space. We visited mid-day and the park was quite empty and felt very safe. Stunning views!

Big area to run, play and exercise, very hot during this time of the year. Not a good place to swim. Strong currents, lots of reef. But it's a beautiful beach with Gorgeous Sunsets🌞🌞🌞
Reri S — Google review
Definitely a great beach with great tides, much calmer than Northshore beaches... very family oriented and check out The Lantern for great food if you're in the area! I gave it four stars because where I parked there wasn't a beach wash off area...
Precious C — Google review
It's a peaceful beach park in Maili with all the commodities you need to enjoy the beach. Talking about the beach the water is so clean and clear that you can see your toes when standing in it. Very safe for kids because the waves are very generous and gentle.
Seydou C — Google review
We stayed a block down from this wide stretch of beautiful beach. Each time I aviators it felt different. Large waves one visits, calmer and more swimmer friendly the next visit, and then loads of teenagers boogie boarding and families BBQing. It felt like a great neighbourhood beach with plenty of local parties being set up. There were showers and lots of parking. It really was a wicked beach and I’m grateful that our Air bnb was close. Everything I heard about the west side of Oahu was overinflated. Yes, there are some homeless, and yes there were a few druggies on the street, but everyone else said aloha and was open to a chat/ I felt no negative vibes, and would certainly visit again for a more local and authentic experience of Hawaii.

Farmers Markets
Waianae Farmers Market is a vibrant Saturday-morning market located at the Waianae Mall. It offers a wide variety of local produce, butter, eggs, prepared foods, and crafts. Visitors can find reasonably priced items such as Poi, Kulolo, Haupia, and Paradise Kettle Popcorn. The market also features locally made jewelry, designed t-shirts, and other crafts.
Love this market ! On every Saturday till noon ! Plenty of cooked foods and food trucks ! Local produce as well like pineapple carrots eggplant etc

I love the sour mangoes sold here with the Hawaiian hot honey. I visited one Saturday and tried it and had to go the next Saturday to buy two more packages. They are sold for $6 each. I also go to the vegetable stand that sells three bags of veggies for $5. You can mix and match which veggies you want. They also have vendors with all different kinds of food and drinks. I can't wait to try them all.
M C — Google review
It's just a small market, but has a large selection of fresh, local produce, and some very good local food being served. The prices are good for the size plate. The people here are very friendly, and kind. They have a small parking area, but it doesn't take long at all for a space with everyone coming and going, it all works out. There are other stores around it where you could park if needs be. I really liked the handcrafted jewellery stalls, they offer some very beautiful pieces at reasonable prices. If you're ever in the area, you should definitely give it a look.

Open Air Market located at the Waianae Mall. Local vendors with great produce, and products. Picked up some Poi, Kulolo, and Haupia. Reasonable prices $5-$6 for each item. (Sorry Poi pictured not included, because my family ate it.) Great vendor!! Stopped off to get my Paradise Kettle Popcorn fix. You can't go wrong here. 3 for $16. The third bag was gone by the time I got home. (Kids love it!) The only vendor that was missing was Angelo's Malasads. Hope to see them soon. All the other vendors are great too!! Come and see for yourself. Every Saturday (weather permitting and COVID restriction guidelines) Mask needs to be worn, and social distancing. Some vendors take Visa, Mastercard, and cash.
Carolyn — Google review
Apple Maps took me to the wrong location. Google maps was correct. It is located behind the Starbucks in Waianae. Decent mix of produce, prepared food, fresh meat, etc. Would definitely recommend trying it out.
David L — Google review
A must stop and see. There are great local vendors and plenty options to choose from. You can get plenty good grinds here. As well as some nice pieces of clothing and even jewelry.
Miguel W — Google review
A plethora of fresh organic vegetables to choose from, and at a very affordable price. The vendors are extremely personable and friendly. They also offer amazing cooked foods.
Chris R — Google review
Great place to spend a Saturday morning with a cub of coffee with family and shop some of the best the west side has to offer. From local farm produce & Fruits to locally owned plate lunch specials and goodies. There's something for everyone. Stop by and check out some of the west sides best locally made jewelry, designed t shirts and others crafts. Grab a Starbucks coffee within 30 yards of the Market and stretch your legs for a morning walk around the Market and check out the best of the west sides local Farmers Market. God bless 🙏

Hiking area
Puʻu O Hulu, also known as the Pink Pillbox Trail, is a short but steep adventure on Oahu's west side. With the largest elevation gain among the hikes in the area, it offers breathtaking views and is best enjoyed as a sunset hike due to limited shade until reaching the pillboxes at the top. This moderately difficult 1-mile trek leads to several military pillboxes perched above Oahu's western coast, offering stunning vistas with fewer crowds compared to other similar trails.
Nice view, on the top of the pink box. It is a short hike but could be challenging for some people for being very inclined. Overall, it's a good experience the over there s worth it.
Alyda K — Google review
Great views. It’s definitely steep and rocky. Not an easy climb. Go early to avoid heat!
Sibley F — Google review
We loved this hike! It's rocky and steep, and it's pretty windy, especially as you get closer to the top. We took our 5-year old with us and he did pretty well, though he does hike often with us. We went early to beat the sun and crowds, and we were not disappointed. The views are absolutely breathtaking. At some points I was questioning my decision to keep going up, but the view at the top is more than worth it.
Allison S — Google review
A very fun moderate hike off the beaten path to some old World War II bunkers with a breathtaking  360° view of the west side of the Island! Make sure to bring some water as it is a bit strenuous and not much shade near the top. Way less crowded than Diamond Head and well worth the hike!!
Manfred A — Google review
Fabulous views of the valley and ocean. Looking west to the sunset over the ocean. Afternoon hikes have plenty of sun exposure and a few spots with shade. The path can be narrow at times so be patient for groups coming your way. Stay hydrated, it's quite a bit of work on the way up. There are no markings for the trailhead, but it is on Kaukama Rd.
Allen Y — Google review
Perfect little hike! Very short hike (~20 mins) with a fairly steep incline and BEAUTIFUL views at the top. The pink pill box against the beautiful west side is breath-taking. Not too crowded either and choke parking at the trail head on the side of the road. My best advice is go up kinda early so you can hike when its cooler out. Once the sun hits that rock - its hella hot!
Marissa B — Google review
Wonderful short but challenging steep hike up to some of the best views on the island. Narrow trail so be prepared to step aside and let folks pass regularly. Worth the climb up to the WW2 pillboxes at the top that provide some incredible vistas. Hike up took about 25mins. Hike down took about 15mins.
Tristram E — Google review
When you get to the split in the trail, go left unless you want to be doing a near vertical climb/rock scramble. Not for the faint of heart. Awesome views at the top though.

Hiking Trails
The hike at Pu‘u‘ohulu Kai, also known as the Mā‘ili Pillboxes, is an exceedingly enjoyable hike on the Wai‘anae Coast. It offers stunning view of the Wai‘anae Mountains, Lualualei Valley, Nānākuli, and Pōka‘ī Bay. Parking is restricted to street parking along Ka‘ukama Road, though I would urge you to use extreme caution when parking here. As the hike has become more popular since the pill boxes were painted break-ins have become more frequent. Bring plenty of water on this and every hike! I'd recommend starting earlier in the day to avoid the heat, or around an hour before sunset to get a beautiful view. Mid-day hikes are possible, but very tough because Wai‘anae is a dry part of O‘ahu. Very little in terms of cloud cover. In all though, this is an increasingly popular hike, and for good reason! It's absolutely stunning.

(Translated by Google) I hiked towards Pillbox. I'm not confident in my physical strength, so I just hiked up for about 30 minutes. The car was parked near the entrance. You'll need to rent a car to get to this area, so it's a nice spot with not many Japanese people or locals. The view from Pillbox is amazing!

Pizza restaurant
Little Caesars Pizza is a popular carry-out chain that specializes in delicious pizza, chicken wings, and their signature breadsticks made from housemade dough. One of their standout offerings is the large round Pepperoni pizza with a stuffed crust, which features a buttery garlic spread known as Crazy Crust and is topped with Parmesan cheese. Customers rave about the ease of online ordering and often find fantastic deals on pizzas, making it an excellent choice for budget-conscious diners.
It's Little Caesars. Predictable corporate menu- locally prepared. This location is busy at times and the hot and ready cabinet may be empty. Be aware, the Google search will bring you to the Pizza Hut located in the same mall but, on the opposite side of building.
Jay D — Google review
It took you almost 2 hours to prepare and deliver my order. When it finally arrived, my pizza was cold and your driver delivered the wrong drink. That’s not the drivers fault since you guys use DoorDash to deliver and they only deliver what they’re given. It’s whoever processed the orders’ fault for not paying attention to details. I will blame the driver for not following directions, however. I asked to be handed the order because it’s raining outside and the ground is wet. Instead, I hear the driver plop my order down on the soaking wet ground. So thanks for that I guess. Don’t think I’ll be ordering from you guys again any time soon
Shakim T — Google review
First, they don’t answer the phone so I had to download the app. Now they claim the app isn’t working and my order never went through. Yet, the payment processed without an issue. This was the same type of “customer service” that the Ewa beach branch provided to the community and they closed down. Management needs to step up their game and technology on this restaurant or their future might prove to be the same. Look at how much time I gave them and now I’m waiting 20 minutes more. Dissatisfied customer.
Em U — Google review
My son and I went to Little Caesars Waianae on Sat 10-25-2025 since there was a Farmers Market in the parking. As I entered a male employee ignorantly stated to "leave and get out," because they were not open. I requested for a manager and that same male employee later stated he was the manager, but refused to give his name. I stated the door was open and as a manager he could have been more polite about it. I also reminded the manager that if there are camera surveillance in the business, the "eye in the sky," is helpful for both sides of the story. It escalated, the police got involved and I would "NEVER," go back "EVER." I took this unfortunate situation, to the Little Caesar's Corporate level, to ensure they are aware of the type of employees that represent their business. I am now awaiting feedback from the Little Caesars Corporate Customer Service Manager level and will offer to provide a portrait and video of the rude Manager.

This location has gone downhill over the years and yesterday was the last straw! Our deep dish pizzas was everything but a deep dish. Half cooked and the cheese was not even melted. Not mention one pizza was not even sliced. Not going to forget about out Italian bread that looked and tasted like it's been sitting in the warmer all day. Never again!!!!
Tuahine K — Google review
I never do write reviews. But by far was it the worst service just to pick up my food that I ordered online. They can’t even make a simple pizza!! And to say the least No - Thank You. No - Have a good night. Nothing!!!

Thai restaurant
New Spicy House is a hidden gem with a simple and intimate atmosphere. While the exterior may not be inviting, the interior is nicely decorated with pleasant tables. The staff is friendly and accommodating, although they may seem new. The food is quite tasty, especially the massaman curry and pineapple curry which are worth the trip from Honolulu. They offer dine-in but may switch to takeout only under certain circumstances.
Really good Thai food ample portions and fair prices. We had the Pad Kee Mao and the Pad See Ew. Both were excellent. Highly recommended if you are in the area. The outside may give you pause but just go on in. The inside is decent. Friendly employees, fast service and a clean restroom. Free and easy parking right out front.

I highly recommend the Tom Yum Goong and Pad Thai, they were the best I’ve ever had. Incredible food, and very kind staff.
Justin H — Google review
Great massaman curry. Spring rolls were okay. Pricing is good. Takeout only. Need to wait in your car if ordering onsite. Location is a bit rough and signage is poor. I would eat here again and would be interested in trying some other items. The brown rice I ordered came in a variety I haven't seen before but didn't appear to be brown but rather a blend. It was still good.
Mr. F — Google review
Loved it. We got take out due to COVID19 and we were so pleased with the quality. Our green seafood curry was creamy and flavorful, the spicy level on point, with lots of shrimp, calamari, and fish. I loved their pork basil stir fry (green beans, bamboo, basil, bell pepper)--so Ono! Their brown rice was filling and perfect, and we ended our meal with a sweet rice and mango ice cream dessert.
Jenessa A — Google review
Be careful or you'll drive right by this little gem. Simple and intimate atmosphere. Staff is super nice. Had the Spicy House Special - delicious but wasn't really that spicy. If that's you're thing, I think they can make it more spicy upon request.

The food here is amazing. Probably the best Thai on the whole island. The area is not the best, kind of sketch but hey it's worth it for the food.

Got to dine in this time no one was there was close to closing but it was so nice and comfortable. Tried their Pho and it was so yummy and so huge! Then ordered take out for dinner to take home... Only complaint was they got my order wrong and I didn't get my stuffed chix wings instead it was regular wings but all in all food is so great it didn't really matter!😋

Countryside Cafe (Wai'anae Location) offers a delightful dining experience with its outdoor terrace providing stunning views of the ocean and Waianae Mountain Range. The menu features a variety of options, including burgers, eggs Benedict, pancakes, French toast, kimchi fried rice, and fresh ahi. Customers can enjoy Hawaiian favorites like corned beef hash and meat lovers scrambler. Despite being short-staffed on busy days, the cafe's teamwork ensures excellent service.
Loved the local vibe of this little gem. Had to have a loco moco and it did not disappoint. Perfectly seasoned homemade burger patty over delicious homemade gravy. I opted for the fried rice and it was amazing. Only a slight issue. It was a bit smokey from the kitchen cooking area. Option to sit outside is there if you need clean air.

Had a great breakfast this morning. The atmosphere leaves something to be desired, but the food is very good. I had the Crabcake Eggs Benedict, which was wonderful. My husband had the Kahlúa Pork Eggs Benedict, and my son had the Breakfast Burrito. They cleaned their plates and said it was very delicious.

Me and my fiancé ate here twice and it was so good each time. The pancakes are bigger than your head and I ordered a side of bacon. The side of bacon was basically an entire pack! And the prices are not terrible. The cheapest meal we have ate and the best!
Heather H — Google review
As a lover of both corned beef hash and loco moco, it was like something out of a dream that this place had a combination of those two things. The gravy was more of a country style gravy than the more typical brown gravy, but I'm not complaining--it was delicious. Despite what another review says I don't think the atmosphere left anything to be desired, it was great! It seemed to me like it was equally a locals spot and a place where visitors can grab a delicious meal alongside them. Plus there were chickens walking around which was great entertainment, and even a gecko hanging out on our neighbors table. All of that on top of friendly and quick service 🦎🌺

On the Waianae coast, you'll find this cafe tucked on the bend. I must say, you have to sample their whole menu. Maybe not in one sitting, but definitely must try all. Only suggestion I would give, is if their is an opportunity to be seated inside, do it. As outside can sometimes be windy and insects may be bothering you while eating as if you're camping. But other then that. Definitely coming back.
Stephen A — Google review
As usual, I am never disappointed in this cafe. The food is always excellent as well as the atmosphere and service. Today, they were short staffed and very busy, but all the staff from the kitchen, etc. pulled together to help the one server that I could tell was running the tables. Teamwork at its finest! It is always a pleasure to stop in for excellent food and a friendly atmosphere. If you're visiting the area, make sure to check the hours as they are not open all day. They have indoor and outdoor seating. You will not regret stopping in.

Dolphin Excursions Hawaii offers unforgettable experiences, including the chance to spot playful dolphins in their natural habitat and embark on a Sunset Cruise to witness breathtaking sunsets. The tours are led by knowledgeable and friendly staff, such as marine biologists and skilled boat skippers who ensure an enjoyable and informative experience. Guests have the opportunity to see pods of dolphins, snorkel at vibrant reefs, observe humpback whales up close, and even swim with spotted dolphins.
Amazing excursion and tour operator. Our flight was delayed and they rescheduled us without any issues. They picked up and dropped off from our hotel - very convenient since it’s an hour away. Mandy was our driver and tour diver. Learned a lot about Hawaii, sunscreen, and the excursion during the drive. The boat trip was amazing. We saw humpback whales from afar. We also got to see dolphins. We jumped into the open water and the dolphins passed us by. The dolphins also chased our boat. We also did some snorkeling and saw a sea turtle and lots of fish (including a big puffer fish). The snorkeling area was about 15-20 ft deep so the fish and coral are not right in your face. I really liked the attitude of the excursion. The staff are marine biologists and there is a deep respect for the water and sea life. Life jackets, snorkel gear, food were all provided. They even had prescription masks! I can’t say enough good things about this tour operator and the people.

What an amazing experience! We saw different species of dolphins right away. I loved that they do this not just for entertainment, but for science. Jenna and Ashley are clearly passionate about their jobs and the sea creatures. Snorkeling with dolphins and sea turtles was something I never thought I would be able to do. They made it so simple to follow and really made sure everyone was comfortable and safe. Highly recommend this experience!

Fantastic time out on the zodiac with the crew. We saw many dolphins on the surface, must have been more than 20 spotted. They also made sure the dolphins were within sighting distance before letting us down in the water so we'll be able to sight them in water while swimming. Lunch provided was quite tasty too, given to us in a little cooler bag. We also stopped by 2 snorkel sites, thought it wasn't fantastic but we saw huge turtles nonetheless. Overall a very well organised experience

Simply fantastic! I was a female solo traveler. I used hotel pick-up service…the van was perfectly labeled which made me feel secure. The guides were remarkably knowledgeable, professional, and chill in the best way. Saw amazing fish, a few turtles, and was able get in the water to see dolphins in their natural habitat! Also…while it is a tourist activity…it didn’t feel touristy. Small group size, easy to make friends, and off the tourist strip. Highly recommend!

Wonderful excursion. We saw spotted and spinner dolphins, green turtles, a spotted eagle ray, and hundreds of fish. Morgan was a wonderful and entertaining guide on both the transportation shuttle from Waikiki and the boat. Which is a great value. The entire crew and staff were very accommodating for all skill levels. We would likely use their services again, when we return to Oahu.

Do it! Book it NOW. Seriously most amazing boat tour I’ve ever done!! Swam with two different types of dolphins, turtles, and snorkeling spots were super clear!!! If you don’t book this you’re doing yourself a disservice. Tip: they allow you to sit on the backside of the boat, DO IT!! The dolphins ride the waves and jump REALLY CLOSE!!!

Ashley (marine biologist) and our boat captain (sorry I can't remember their name) took us out for several hours and gave us an amazing time! We snorkeled at two different locations, where we got to swim with turtles and tons of fish in beautiful reefs. A large pod of spinner dolphins came by at one point, they put on a fantastic show and even came right up to the boat. Ashley in particular was great, very friendly and was able to answer every question I had about marine life. Although we were unable to find any dolphin species that we could swim with (against the law to swim with spinner dolphins) we still went on an incredible journey that I 100% recommend. I know the captain felt very bad about not finding dolphins that we could snorkel with, but I do not fault them at all for that. They have a very hardworking team that coordinates with each other to locate pods, but in the end it's a massive ocean and they have no control over where the dolphins go and what they do. This excursion was very focused on the experience, educating us through real world interactions while maintaining a respectful relationship with the dolphins. If that's not what you're looking for, then go to SeaWorld.

My family and I had an amazing day with Captain Jenna and her crew during our dolphin experience! We were fortunate enough to see spinner dolphins, turtles and even a few whales even though the season was cutting close for the Humpbacks. The crew was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the trip, making the experience even more enjoyable. Communication was excellent, with a few text messages sent prior to our pickup to remind us to be on time. Morgan, our driver, was respectful and ensured we arrived at the dock safely and carefully. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a memorable day on the water in Oahu!

Mountain Magic Shave Ice is a must-visit spot in Waianae, offering a delightful experience with its perfect ice, boba, mochi, and amazing flavors like strawberry cream and Lilikoi. The shave ice is described as the creamiest and smoothest ever had, with rich and flavorful syrups that don't taste like candy. Visitors appreciate the generous toppings and the option to add vanilla ice cream.
I have heard the Shave Ice is excellent, but I have not had any. I come for Dave's ice cream. Very clean and nice atmosphere. Everyone who works here is very nice and attentive to everyone's needs. I stop quite frequently, even when I am out for a walk to burn off what I just consumed. I really only did that once, to be honest, but it is on my walk route. I definitely recommend Magic Mountain. It is a great place to gather. There are also plenty of items for sale if you are looking for souvenirs if you visit the island.

The BEST ice we had on the island! Recommended to us by a local, and it was bumping. Melt in your mouth shaved ice - no clumps, just so good!

We came here for a post beach ice cream snack. The ice cream flavors are pretty good and variety and had a bunch of local flavors. The staff was very nice and they also had a bunch of shave ice flavors as well. You can combine the two or keep them separate. They also have a nice little surf shop style apparel inside the store.

BEST SHAVE ICE I’VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!! You must try this place. Lots of shave ice flavors and AMAZING Add-Ons. They also sell ice cream, boba drinks, smoothies, and have a great gift shop. I promise you will not be disappointed!

The service is great, food is delicious. They have ice cream, shave ice, and boba. Unique flavors including ube, kulolo, honeydew mochi, lychee, Horchata, lihing Mui, guava, taro. They also have a gift shop that has an assortment of trinkets, snorkel gear, boogie board / body board, sunglasses, stickers, hats, shirts, towels, wraps / sarong.

Serving shaved ice in a drink cup is a bit odd, but it was fine and it worked okay. I had three flavors and they mix together with the tall cup more than in the usual bowl. The texture is among the softest I’ve tried on Oahu. The price is about average, not the most or the least.
Mira S — Google review
This is the best shave ice on the Island. We’ve tried shave ice from over 8 places and this was by far the best! The lightest texture. Perfect! Melts in your mouth.

Phenomenal! I easily inhaled the large! By far my favorite island experience. I had the staff help me with the decision making 😂 mango lychee over macadamia coconut ice cream topped with mochi 🙌🏼 make the drive and enjoy!

Mauna Lahilahi Beach Park is a hidden gem on the Leeward Coast of Oahu, offering a quarter-mile stretch of white sand in Makaha. While there are no public restrooms or showers, visitors can enjoy picnics at the picnic tables and grassy patches near the ocean. The beach is ideal for activities like pole fishing, body surfing, sand boarding, boogie boarding, surfing, kayaking, and paddle boarding.

Looking for closure. I lost my baby here April 24,2023. Beside that this is a peaceful place. No public bathrooms or showers. You might come across the families that live there on the beach but their cool. You might even come across a bunch of little dogs, just stop & tell'um get home.
Jamie K — Google review
Mauna Lahilahi Beach is about a quarter mile stretch of white sand, located in Makaha. It has picnic tables and patches of grass perfect for a picnic near the ocean. Here beachgoers can do a little pole fishing from the reef or the shore. On some days beachgoers can do a little body surfing, sand boarding, boogie boarding, surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding. Most of the time through out the year waves here are relatively small compared to other surf spots nearby. However, there are no public restrooms, running water, or showers at this beach and it is inhabited mostly by local homeless residents and their camps. Convenient local businesses and shops located directly across the street from this beach are Longs Drug Store(Closes at 11 p.m.), 7-11 Store w/ gas station(Open 24 hrs.), O'Reilly Auto Parts Store, Ohana Market, Papa John's Pizzeria, Makaha Chop Suey, and a Shave Ice and board rental business just to name a few and all located along the C&C public transportation bus routes also known as "The Bus".
Kuulei K — Google review
Another under utilized beach park on the Leeward Coast of Oahu. Lots of nice sand. Parking is across the street at the small mall. Longs opened up a couple of years ago so that is a very convenient place to buy snacks and drinks. There are a couple of picnic tables but I make the effort to bring my beach chair and/or blanket and just carry them across the street at the cross walk. The bus stop is located mid beach. No rest rooms available within site may be the biggest draw back.

Pokai Bay Beach

Beach
Pokai Bay Beach is a secluded shoreline surrounded by a reef, offering calm waters ideal for swimming and snorkeling, making it perfect for families with children. This off-the-beaten-path beach is popular with locals and offers a dog-friendly environment up to the high water point. Protected by an offshore breakwater, it remains calm throughout the year, making it suitable for activities like stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking.
Wonderful place to take families and little ones. Not many tourists, ample parking, calm waters and sandy beaches. There is a bathhouse but it is closed for renovations (April 22, 2023). There are portajohns and an outdoor shower available though. Grilling is allowed. Tents and canopies are also allowed. Parking does fill up fast. The north end of the bay is not protected, so that end is better for surfing. The south end is protected so you can snorkel and see the turtles and rays....and if you get there early enough, dolphins. Just don't get too close to the wildlife.
Pbandj37 — Google review
This section of beach is ok - beautiful as are all Oahu beaches, but the section just south of this one is filled with homeless camps & tents & overflowing trash bins right now. I wouldn't recommend traveling to this part of the island for this beach. So many others feel safer and cleaner
Katrina G — Google review
This is definitely a local’s beach, there are 2 sections. North side is more peaceful, beach is rocky and you can just watch the waves and relax. The south side is where everybody swims and crowded. It has a huge parking area but it can get full really quick before sunset.
Suzette E — Google review
Turtles! Wonderful sand! No big waves. Perfect!
Sibley F — Google review
It was perfect for my daughter (4) as she’s still intimidated by waves, here she was able to swim out further than she’s ever been because of the calm waters. We ended our nights here while in town to catch the sunset in the warm waters. The locals use this place for a rowing league; it was nice to see them rowing and practicing every night. Totally recommend this beach if you have small children. I did a couple sunrise swims here and saw sea turtles several times, as well as seals.
Ricky H — Google review
Love this beach, nice and quiet,no waves, no rocks, a lot of turtles. Local people were nice, too, except for a couple of weird persons. Good place to go with family. We took the bus, 2 hrs ride from waikiki.
Andrey T — Google review
Good beach for families. Calm waters. However occasionally it can get big waves for surfing. When the water is clear during the summer it’s great for snorkeling. I’ve seen lots of marine life including sea turtles. Lots of sea turtles and sea lions frequent this bay. Dolphins also but usually far away. However the sea turtles like to go in shallow waters. Don’t be surprised is one swims by you or behind you. They can sneak up on you sometimes. Early morning walks on this beach are quiet and calming.
Gem L — Google review
Beautiful beach. I call this the “west side Waikiki.” Lots of locals. Best place to throw a birthday party. There’s a playground for children. There’s showers and lots of places to barbecue. The bathrooms aren’t too clean but there are a lot of people sharing it so that can be expected. Great food places nearby! Would recommend to all age groups.

Lualualei Beach Park

Park
Lualualei Beach Park is a small and secluded campground located on the west side of Oahu. The drive-up sites are spacious enough for campervans, but a camping permit is necessary. Unlike its popular neighbor, Pokai Bay Beach Park, Lualualei Beach Park offers a quieter and more tranquil atmosphere. However, it's important to be cautious as the beach has hidden dangers such as strong currents, reef areas, and occasional shark sightings.
Great, off the beaten path, rocky beach. This is typically not a swimming beach as the tide is rough. Plenty of sea glass can be found here and this is a great place to relax without a bunch of people around. Perfect place to see, feel, and hear the ocean.
Nathan M — Google review
Lots of ponds to sit in, great for little ones to feel the ocean and sand on a calm day. Be careful the current chance very fast. Bring a hat no shade on the sand. My sister her dogs Star, Honey and my grandbaby Joy played, swam, fish and shell picking every day. The homeless keep to them self. After awhile we became friends with some. Good place to be if you don't like the crowd. No bathroom and shower lots of parking.

So as of last night I found out that my beach park camp site is inhabited by the houseless of Wainae - Instead of being upset I ended donating food to the family... I will seek my refund from the county later - I ended up being directed to GOOGLE MAPS to the wrong location BUT ended up finding an evem better place... My photos now reflect what I know now after a kind Police Officer notified me that I was at the wrong place yesterday evening...... Also in a post I gave my honest opinion BUT I do like how after two days they finally cleaned the area around the bathroom...

Lualualei Beach Park There are some great views but it’s a bit overshadowed by the condition of the restrooms and trash. You are also pressing closer to homeless encampments. If I had a choice I might pass on this one for another one with a safer feel.

Just wanted a place for myself and youngest daughter to get away - The bathrooms need some major maintenance & attending to but it is a place to use the bathroom (Just bring your own toilet paper & hand soap)...... Otherwise I found the parking to be peaceful - There were some houseless individuals roaming around BUT for the most part friendly... There is a little music playing in the background but a real chill vibe...... If you are not too boujee it may be a beach park to consider for a few days......

Korean restaurant
Hannara Restaurant is a casual eatery that serves a diverse selection of American, Korean, and Hawaiian dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It offers an extensive menu that allows guests to fully immerse themselves in the local culture. In the morning, patrons can enjoy a choice of pancakes, omelets, or waffles (with the Macadamian nut pancakes being highly recommended). One visitor discovered this place while searching for Loco Moco during their trip to Hawaii.
Want the best Kahlua pork on the island? Go to Hanara Restaurant in West Oahu. It is absolutely the most moist & tasty Kahlua I’ve had in Hawaii!!! Delicious!!! I get the kahlua omelette and fried rice! To die for!!! My daughter teaches at Waianae Middle School so I get to come here every time I visit her.

The food is delicious. I had the Kalua Pork and cabbage. Portions are appropriate for the money. In fact, I took the rest to go and got two meals out of it. I appreciate the casual, yet quality, approach of the restaurant and that it is local vibes rather than tourist. There were a number of flies during our entire time eating inside the restaurant.

If you're visiting near the area, it's a great local escape from the typical tourist crowd. Portions worth the price you pay and plenty of room for groups.

My only complaint is it is hard to order because the food is so good. Every time I hike Mali pillbox I come here and whenever my mom flies she DEMANDS come here or else she'll demand I call her 6x a day. In reality this place is amazing and is worth the value. They make everything g great though I usually order the breakfast. If I don't eat here than I didn't come to West Oahu.
Kelvin P — Google review
Service is good but the food is trash. Upset with my order because I ordered a ribeye steak plate and was served the toughest piece of NY strip steak I’ve ever chewed on. Also ordered a “fried chicken” plate and was served 6 pieces of tiny chicken wings for the other plate, why not just label the fried chicken plate as fried chicken wings plate and not mislead people with the menu? What a waste of money and time waiting for the food, safe to say I’ll never spend my money here again and will never recommend anybody to ever eat here. You don’t know if you’re going to get what you ordered and paid for and that’s enough to never come back personally. What a waste of $60, BUYERS BEWARE!

My haole family has gone 2 years in a row to Hanaras for breakfast on our trip. We love the pancakes and the kind staff. The prices are are great for the value. The macadamia nut pancakes are my favorite and my wife was fortunate enough to be recommended the pork and squash soup on our first visit (thanks Cindy). If you're in the area check it out!

9/2024 At the advice of a friend who grew up nearby and needing to kill some time to beat traffic, I gave it a try. I'm a big fan of shoyu potatoes and I loves me a good hamburger steak. These were his recommendations. I gotta say - they did not disappoint! It's a charming old style diner with old style service and patrons, families. Nuff said, just go and try the food, then roll home for a nap. Onolicious! 😉🤙✌️

Local drive inn that offers a mini and regular plate lunch. I ordered the chicken katsu mini and the double cheeseburger. The mini has large portions with one scoop rice. That Katsu sauce tho... that's what Katsu sauce should taste like with that little kick of flavor. The mac salad is old school with little shreds of carrots and no onions. The double cheeseburger brings me back to the days of Byron's drive inn. The only thing missing was the yellow sauce. The food is affordable compared to the fast food restaurants. Locations like this drive inn will be around for a long time. Worth the stop! Just an FYI, Cash only!

This a late post, but I had to share some of my fav spots on the Island. Its been a min since I've been back visiting the west sai. Barbecue Kai was always our go to for good food at an affordable price. Breakfast plate back in the days were like $5 eggs, rice and portugese sausage, cant beat that?! This time around ordered, BBQ mix plate that came with BBQ chicken, teriyaki, Bbq short ribs, rice and mac salad $15, mochiko chicken, rice and mac salad $11. The service was fast and friendly! As for the the ambiance, its outdoor seating with a window were you order food. Outdoor seating, dog friendly

Gave very little, asked for something else paid for it, but only got shrimp, then got told I should have read the fine print on the bottom. So I said once I get my receipt, I'll be back to get the extra I paid they said come back when the other person was there because it wasn't her. The person was very rude, the food was very little and not worth the price same on you all for thinking it's ok to talk to people harshly on the phone. It was better when you didn't answer phones. But yet when that happened and I asked why it was said you don't do phone orders but yet today I saw 3 people come to pick up phone orders. You all need to get the Info together or at least pretent to give a damn on what's going on with your customers

KFC is a popular fast-food chain recognized for its signature fried chicken served in generous portions, accompanied by combo options and various side dishes. This establishment offers the convenience of both dine-in and drive-thru services, making it an excellent choice for patrons seeking a delicious meal.

KFC-Waianae just received a new coat of paint on their building. I'm assuming to attract more customers. Looks nice, but they should have used that money to get more product, and to train their employees. This is KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken!!) Why is it they don't have chicken ready or available?? The employee informed me that they don't have chicken breast or wings!! There is also going to be a 5 min wait, if I want chicken tenders. I waited, because my kids needed to eat dinner. Paid $33 for 12 chicken tenders. (Unbelievable prices) The only good thing about my experience here is that the chicken tenders were fresh. Just to wait for your order is ridiculous. Mind you, this place was not even busy. Prices are unbelievable!! Honestly, this is the LAST time I will be coming here. It will be worth the drive to POPEYE'S in Waipahu or Schoefield!! What a disappointment this KFC Waianae is.....

I decided to use the app for the first time. I ordered when I was in Kapolei. I drove in expecting maybe less than a 10 minute wait since I called and was told my food was dropped and will be ready in 20 minutes. Well it wasn’t ready. I’m here and they are telling me another 25-30 minute wait. If you can’t math that’s 45 to over an hour wait for our damn food. We literally used our last money to pay for this meal and it’s already deducted from our account!!!!! This location is losing so damn much money. Just sitting here I seen 5 cars leave because they don’t have freakin chicken. It’s the one thing they specialize in. Like pizza hut with no pizza!!! This isn’t the first time this has happened. What’s going on? Makaha is better but the app didn’t give me that location as an option. We should have been given gift cards for the inconvenience or a partial refund for wasting my damn time.

I recently went to the Waianae location today. They still have the same inhospitable general manager named Norma. She is rude and never smiles. I had to call and complain about her service today and due to this location keeping her as a GM, I will always choose another location and not go to this one. The service sucks!

Customer service here was helpful, however the food here didn't taste like the franchised famous original recipe. Got home to find our biscuits were undercooked or sticky not flaky and smashed. Girl at the window was fine, I think the cooks or management could be ripping off ingredients or cutting corners with the recipe..otherwise it's a corporate issue. Also we ordered a very costly 16piece bucket which was supposed to be a mixture of thighs breats drumsticks and wings. What we got was like 4 backs bone you know the one with little meat and there the liver in it? Well we got 4 of those and the rest were drumsticks! And they weren't evenly and thoroughly coated lots of uncoated spaces to top it off it was under cooked. Just barely cooked enough to serve. Was still pink and blood barely dried up. I ended dumping it eating biscuits and whatever leftovers there was. For $60something bucks! I felt ripped off and writing about it is pissing me off all over again. The two stars is solely for the girl at the window. I felt she did her job well done. As for anywhere or everyone else the at this KFC. I have no more words. Let's just say it's a corporate level thing. Although I've never had a bad experience at Nanakuli KFC. Which is where I originally placed my order but the bf of course wanted to pass it and pick me up first. All in all I ended up blaming him! Lol!

Nice crew, but dated facilities. They are using the drive-thru cashier to accommodate customers dining in. I even had my dog with me the whole time I was at the counter. And, on top of it all she still gave me the restroom key, no questions asked. They don't even kick anyone out even an hour after I was finished eating.....! :)

My crunchwrap just wasn't very good. Pretty ok place though. Nacho fries had nearly no seasoning.

OMG, their Cheesy Toasted Chalupa box is the best ever. Have to get one every time I go. I always save it for last. MT(must try) :)

Taco Bell used to be a go to place before they messed up my order and didn’t respect my dietary preferences by giving me meat when I said vegetarian. That’s not acceptable. So please make sure to be very careful as this leads to disliking this place specially this branch Be more mindful before serving

This is always my favorite stop after a good hike or swim on the west side. Exceptionally friendly staff, quiet, and great sodas!
