To the kind attendant in the Auto Department this morning — thank you so much for helping me with my truck battery and jumper cables. You even had a gentleman from the shop pick it up and put it in my car for me. When I asked about lanterns for camping, you personally escorted me to that section and opened the case so I could see them. You made my Walmart trip easy and stress-free — I truly appreciate your excellent customer service!

7 o’clock in the morning I’m standing at the deli reading the packages of the lunchmeat trying to decide if I was going to purchase anything. A woman says excuse me, sir you can’t open that we don’t open till 8 o’clock. I said I’m just standing here reading the labels, you can’t do that till 8 o’clock, and then I asked her so I can’t stand here and read the labels She said no, we open at eight. I left my basket and went to Food Lion.

On October 23 at 5:44 PM, I spoke to the clerk in Petersburg Walmart auto center. This is what transpired: I purchased tires online at walmart dot com. I received a text early that weekt hat my tires were ready for pickup. I went to the store to pick the tires up and ask the person in-charge if he could put the tires on. He then told me that he was short of technicians. But yet, I saw two workers sitting around. I then ask if he could call the local store closer in colonial.Heights to see if they could put my tires on. His response was NO! HE STATED that Petersburg store didn't communicate with colonial.Heights store because of bad communication. I never did receive the service that I inquired about about. The auto center doesn't close until 7 PM. There was more than an hour and a half left on the clock before the store closes. and the workers sat around and did nothing. I'm sure the owner rather have the money for the tires service then to pay workers for sitting around doing no service. I don't blame the workers; I blame the management! This is not the first time that I experienced something like this at the auto center but this will be the first time that I will be reporting it!

Turn away and just do pick up or delivery or shipping!!!!! This place is a disaster to check out of. Everyone has to file into 2 extremely long lines just to get to the checkout lanes and self checkout. They usually only have 2 or 3 lanes open and the employees move slow. And they'll only have 4 self checkouts open at a time. Ill never go in there again.
Mel D — Google review
This location was extremely messy. There were a lot of associates there yet the store was cluttered with partially filled buggies. There were misplaced items EVERYWHERE I'm assuming where customers left them randomly. My biggest complaint is the difficulty the freight being between every display on the aisles. Your forced to walk all the way to the end of the aisles to get around or cut through to try and get to any merchandise. This is at every Walmart not just this location. If you're going to stock while customers are shopping maybe a good idea not to hinder our ability to navigate these particular areas.
Britt R — Google review
had an incredible experience with Brandon and Chris at the Walmart Auto Care Center. They went above and beyond to help me with a flat tire—after hours! Despite being off the clock, they took the time to make sure I was safe and got my tire fixed. It’s rare to find people so dedicated and kind. Brandon and Chris truly deserve recognition for their professionalism, generosity, and outstanding customer service. Thank you both so much!

Ive been coming here for over 20 years... petersburg is not the safest place, and in the past, i wouldn't be caught breathing here after dark. However... the last 5 years or so, this place and area has turned around. The store is clean and the workers are relatively nice and helpful. Of course, being in a location as it is, they do lack more healthy food options as other walmarts may have.

Battlefields
Petersburg National Battlefield is a significant historic site that witnessed the Siege of Petersburg during the Civil War, resulting in around 70,000 casualties. This prolonged battle played a crucial role in the fall of the Confederate capital and General Robert E. Lee's surrender. The visitor center offers helpful staff, informative films, a small museum, and a gift shop. Visitors can explore the battlefields through self-guided tours by car, on foot, or by bicycle with well-marked trails and signage.
This is a really excellent battlefield visitor center! The Park Ranger (I forgot his name, I'm sorry) was very personable & patient, answering all my questions, as well as very knowledgeable! The displays & short film are highly educational, as well as being very well displayed & curated. Don't forget to browse in the gift shop for books, materials, & souvenirs!

Staff at the visitors center was very helpful and knowledgeable. This place was so nice to walk around and see all the history. There is so much to see and walk through here it amazing. I love how they’ve preserved what they could and have started to fix some of the things falling apart. Would definitely recommend stopping by and checking them out if you have the time. We only had time to make it through the east half but are going back tomorrow to finish the west half.
Brandon V — Google review
One of the most well preserved battlefields I've ever seen, I'm unsure if any of the wooden structures are original or not, but the earth foundations of multiple forts still stand along with countless cannons. The only downside is the the visitors center closes super early.

Oak Antique Mall is an impressive shop that gives the impression of stretching endlessly as one goes further back. It offers a wide range of different booths filled with intriguing items for personal use or gifts. The staff members are friendly and helpful, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The store boasts a great selection of merchandise at reasonable prices, including two lamps that were purchased by a satisfied customer.
I spent nearly 3 hours in here because I loved all the specific history in the books and other niche items. The old building adds to the atmosphere in a perfect way. I will say that the good quality vintage clothing, and some antiques (most technically vintage) can be a little expensive. But it is %100 worth it to shop here just for the experience. And most things were priced decently anyhow. I recommend! :)

Excellent quality merchandise at reasonable prices. I found a round oak table with 6 chairs in good condition. Staff is wonderful. They held the furniture for 3 days so I could get it picked up. Very helpful, friendly staff.

Great shop! Lots of cool items! WWII airplane props, jewelery, just an array of awesomeness! Found a giraffe salt n pepper set, fabulous!
Sally H — Google review
I've been going to The Oak for the many years it has been open and made many purchases. Like Petersburg itself, it's forever changing. Vendors come and go. Prices can be reasonable or outrageous. Today it seemed to be a bit too high, I bought nothing, but a few vendors were having sales. There is always interesting stuff to see and there is a smaller second floor which today was the most packed I'd ever seen it. It's never had an over abundance of furniture, but does have a little of everything else, including vintage clothing. Worth visiting multiple times and I'd give it 5 stars except for the prices today and one other very important thing to note. This is an area you need to be careful in when visiting. You will often be approached by someone looking for money. This happened today and many times before although I don't go there that often. Lock your car, be aware of who is near you and don't end up as a crime statistic.
James H — Google review
The Oak Antique Mall has become a mixed bag of JUNK It's a huge space with a very diverse collection of items. The merchandise quality is very inconsistent. To non existent A few decent pieces might be found, (overpriced) but it is necessary to sift through many many low-quality, dusty, or overpriced items to find them. It felt like a gamble, and for me, it didn't pay off. While the staff was friendly however but detached did not come across. It's very familiar with the products being sold AT ALL SO DONT BOTHER ASKING QUESTIONS , the selection was just not what was being looked for . There are far better real antique shops in the area with true vintage and antiques of a higher quality merchandise." Being a familiar customer with this place since it opened and even a vendor at one time its sad to see such a decline over this past few years so.... if its been a while don't expect what you use to find here

Ettrick park is one of the best parks I have Come across you have to work out center outside for everyone to work out and enjoy a good work. Out, it has a playground for the kids baseball field football field and also a rapper round. For jogging and running 🏃‍♂️

Well kept park with plenty to offer. Ettrick Park is always clean, well kept, and gives you a feeling of safety that shows that Chesterfield County has a great staffing force that shows that they care about their public parks.

New addition playground focused towards all access is a good addition. Hope more is to come. Hiking trail through woods could use a little maintenance (fallen tree branches). Planted more trees in park (got to wait to grow to get a true feel) along walking paths and various areas in the park. Alot of activities offered in center, be sure to check them out.

A fairly standard park, but well maintained. Trails are very short but great for a small walk if you live in the neighborhood. The place was very lively at 3:30 on a Friday. Most of the amenities are in very good condition.

Wonderful park! Fantastic museum with a number of interactive exhibits, historic homes, and great hiking trails along the historic breakthrough attack that ended the seige of Petersburg. The earthworks and preserved fortification are phenomenal. A real hidden gem for anyone at all interested on history.

The pictures don't do this place justice. We stopped here in the middle of a 9-hour drive. So we only had 1.5 hours to spare. We will need to come again to see it all again. 3 hours would be more realistic. My kids are 9,7, and 5. And they didn't complain once. We just read "Laura Ingalls Wilder." I'm sure this helped the kids connect to the time period.
Orly J — Google review
I always noticed the highway sign for this site and finally had the opportunity to visit. The visit was well worth it. While the museum architecture is a bit dated, the exhibits are extremely well done. An audio tour is available which provides much context to the exhibits. The audio tour also offers the chance to choose a person who actually participated in the war and follow their story. You learn a lot about the life of average soldiers in a most engaging manner. The museum staff was friendly and the interpreter who spoke about the life and gear of a Union soldier was excellent. The grounds are beautiful with convenient walkways to enable access to the impressive fortifications that survive to this day. This is a wonderful site for kids and history enthusiasts.
Jonathan L — Google review
Amazing site. It’s is a great history of the battle and the museums are great love the walk through a soldiers experience. The earthworks are a great walk and the recreated trenches are awesome for realization of the battle. It is a must stop for history people and non history people. The plantation and houses show the civilian life as well. And are just as important.

Nice to visit if you have already visited Appomattox. This battle took place one week prior to surrender. Will come back again, to walk the trails.

Very well done park with many exhibits inside and out. I really enjoyed the audio tour which is included with your admission. The Park Staff at the Battlefield Center took the time to provide a great summary of the battle of Petersburg. Definitely take time to enjoy this piece of history.

Tramonto Ristorante, aptly named after the Italian word for "sunset," is a delightful culinary haven nestled in Olde Towne Petersburg. This charming eatery has quickly become a favorite for many, including those who visit regularly. The ambiance is warm and inviting, featuring an unexpected spaciousness with a lovely cobblestone patio that adds to its charm. Diners rave about the prompt service and flavorful dishes that consistently impress.
I don't know why I continue to be surprised by Tramonto. Eaten here 6 or seven times and they always impress me. It's an unassuming little place with more room than you expect in the back and a great cobblestone patio/former alley...very inviting. My shrimp Alfredo lasted me three days. I'm not suggesting that yours will, but the portion was impressive. Servers are always very good. I think they are definitely worth a look.
Bob B — Google review
We absolutely love Tramonto Ristorante! This cozy little spot has become a monthly tradition for us—and for good reason. The food is always fresh and flavorful, and the family-style service makes you feel right at home every time. Our go-to order? A medium cheese & onion pizza (perfection), a fresh salad, a glass of wine or a crisp cider from Busky’s, and a dry lemon/lime water—no ice, just how we like it! 🥂🍕 The atmosphere is just right for a relaxing evening out, whether it’s date night or just treating yourself to something delicious. We’ll keep coming back, and we always recommend it to friends! — Kelle Pressley

As a former owner of a pizzeria/Italian restaurant, i feel confident saying this place exceeds normal standards! The marinara sauce is perfect. 🤌 the atmosphere feels down home Sicilia to me! Highly recommend this place for the sauce alone!

I come here for lunch at least once a month. I have never been disappointed. The Italian food is delicious, the service is friendly and the cost is reasonable. Three for three in my book !

This Restaurant's name 'Tramonto' translates from Italian to English as 🌇 'Sunset', which is when we arrived in Olde Towne Petersburg and chose this hidden gem for dinner. Glad we did. The food came promptly and was very tastey. I have to say it was so nice having our salads 🥗 arrive on chilled plates! I loved how tender the meatballs were in my Spaghetti 🍝 😋. The Greek style came with loads of feta cheese. It was a special request to leave out the 🫒 so my photo will not show how it is typically served. The loaves of bread were hot and fresh from the oven, great for dipping into their house made dressing. I will definitely visit again to try other dishes. 🫶😋
3AXAP 3 — Google review
The people who work there were very nice, and friendly! The restaurant was clean. I didn't like that there's a $2 charge to get a Caesar salad instead of the house salad, but it tasted good. Their homemade lasagna was awful, it's some of the worst lasagna I've ever tasted, and I've eaten plenty of lasagna from several different restaurants! It was so bad, I couldn't even force myself to finish it! My Mom did eat her spaghetti and meatballs, but my Aunt had to take hers home to add some seasoning to it because it was tasteless! I would never go there again, but at the same time, I don't want to cause them to lose business because the staff were so nice!

If you're on the lookout for a delightful dining experience, "Taste of China" is definitely worth a visit. This charming restaurant offers an array of delicious dishes that leave patrons raving about their meals. From steamed dumplings with a flavorful dipping sauce to the ever-popular orange chicken and fried rice, each bite is sure to satisfy your cravings. The Kung Po Chicken also comes highly recommended, boasting great flavor without being overly greasy—all at a reasonable price.
I went a couple months ago and had the same experience of smaller portions and different food. They’re doing better! Food was great and bigger portions again. The egg rolls are actually better than before.
Bonnie R — Google review
I'm disappointed because I've been coming here for years but now it is under new management. I've been several times since the switch and things have changed. The food is hit or miss, it depends on what you order. My order has been wrong twice. I also ordered 4 shrimp egg rolls: three contained one shrimp each and the fourth had none. Considering the price was raised to over 2 dollars per roll, that's unacceptable. I don't recommend ordering egg rolls! I strongly recommend checking your bag before you leave. I feel the experience could be better for the money that you pay, especially if they become more aware of what they're doing in the kitchen .

No. This is just no. I got roast pork egg foo yun and just no. My food IS RAW! RAW I TELL YOU. THAT IS A NO!. I’ve gotten this dish from here many times and never has it been raw! This is absolutely disgusting and changes need to happen! You’re gonna get someone sick! Not to mention when my food had been ready for 20 minutes. That means you just rushed my food and didn’t even take your time with it because how do you not see that the meat is completely red and raw????

I enjoyed this restaurant, the food was good that I ordered. I got steamed dumplings, orange chicken, and fried rice. The sauce for the dumplings was tasty and the customer service was excellent. I hope they get an opportunity to expand their restaurant because it's worth sitting down on more then a few tables then they had, I will be coming back. I strongly recommend.

Disgusting attitude and disgusting dey food. Had to ask three times for bbq sauce on the boneless bbq spare ribs. As you see we didnt get shrimp fried rice we got . Steam Shrimp on top. The pork dumplings smelled and taste like flour. The lady was extremely rude only gave 3 duck sauce, refused to give me bbq sauce until i said take you food back if you cant provide what i paid for. Dont go here if you respect yourself they obviously don’t respect food or people Nasty AF plus my total came up to $27.96 How!?!? There is a reason they have no traffic coming in or out

If you're looking for a delightful dining experience, Joe's Steak and Seafood is the place to be! With an impressive menu that caters to various tastes, this restaurant has something for everyone. The service is top-notch; guests rave about the attentive staff like Christian and Walter, who ensure you feel right at home. While some dishes may not hit the mark for everyone—like the crab/shrimp dip—the lobster/shrimp egg rolls are a must-try!
Amazing food! We were dining as a family for lunch and we had a great time. Walter, our server, took great care of us! He was attentive, friendly and helpful. I ordered muscles in white wine sauce and it was amazing. Better than even my own recipe. I also spoke to Gail or Gayle (not sure) couple times who was very polite and also friendly. I would like to make a couple suggestions for the chef and owners. This muscles definitely needs some sort of bread to dip into all that sauce. Wherever I have lived and have had muscles, it definitely comes with bread whether I lived in San Francisco then it comes with sourdough bread or Rome it comes with Italian bread or when I lived in Paris comes with baguette. Or like now in NYC it’s whatever but it’s still bread. I had to order side of mashed potatoes so I can dip into all that good white wine sauce because they didn’t even have bread as a side order. Don’t they serve bread at all even with steak? Also I was traveling with my motorcycle and after checking in to my hotel I ordered with DoorDash. I didn’t get any napkins or utensils. No fork or spoon to slurp up all that good wine sauce. I had to ask around the hotel for some utensils.

Christian, the bartender, was amazing and professional. The dark & stormy he made me was perfect! The music wasn't on when we arrived. However, they did cut it on, but it wasn't top 40hits. So the vibe was dull! The crab/shrimp dip wasn't a favorite, but the lobster/shrimp egg rolls were delicious! My husband loved the fish and chips. I enjoyed the bone in ribeye, which was cooked an excellent medium upon my request. Overall, I would return to taste other items on the menu, but I do suggest that for date night, they work on the music and add old bay to the dip! Give them a visit!

Sauce & Toss is a no-frills counter-service eatery that specializes in classic comfort foods like pizza, wings, and subs. The atmosphere may be simple, but the service shines with friendly staff who are always eager to assist. Each dish is made fresh upon order, ensuring that you receive a meal crafted just for you—though this might mean a bit of a wait. Their steak and cheese sandwiches are particularly noteworthy, cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor.
Best Cheeseburger, I would say. They serve ice creams and milkshakes, too.
Azaan P — Google review
Sandwich was very good, 12in was alot to eat. I got the 777 Philly and was very happy with it. Made it a combo, should have saved my money on the combo. Sub was excellent.

I ordered “Buffalo Wings” and I got chicken burnt wings instead. There was literally NO Buffalo sauce that I was just eating plain chicken wings. It was my first time ordering here and I am so disappointed. I’ll never order here again. I ordered with a side of carrots and didn’t receive any at all. If I could give it a zero I would.
Shannon L — Google review
Tried this place for the 1st time on doordash. The streak, shrimp and cheese was pretty good along with the fries however my can soda tasted old as if it had been sitting for a long time but hadnt reached its expiration date!!
K B — Google review
They are always kind and always helpful. They're food taste amazing especially the steak and cheese cooked to perfection. Everything is made as ordered nothing is premade so it definitely is a place to have time to wait for your order but it is indeed worth the wait. I greatly appreciate you guys.
Samantha K — Google review
I ordered a fish sampler and what I got was shrimp and a half a piece of fish and when I tried to correct the order with the employee, he argued with me by pointing to the half piece of fish and saying look thats still fish as of he deserved a brownie point for that. No courtesy whatsoever. The issue is they keep selling this place to different people I guess in their family and each group of people who get the facility care about it less than the last...... don't waste your time coming here unless you like frustration and regret.

absolutely delicious pizza. the best ever.
Soorah B — Google review
The food is delicious but it takes forever to get it. I have been here twice. The first time I waited over 45 minutes for some wings and there were only 2 other customers. The second time I waited over an hour for 2 subs and 2 orders of fries. My son and I were the only customers in the store. Not sure why it takes so long to get your food.

Day 2

Proximity is everything
For day 2, we bundled attractions like Appomattox Riverside Park (Ferndale Park) and Matoaca Park and other places within a close range, so that the time it takes to travel between all of them is less than one hour. Combined with the average time people spend there, your day should take about 7 hours.

Really nice trail along the canal. Area is very natural and usually pretty clean. There is a new bridge to cross the canal now.
Ayla B — Google review
There's are a couple of nice walks here. Go across the canal and to the left and it's a mile out and a mile back. Nice and level and very pretty. Cross the canal and continue down the hill then to the right under the road and the trail is a bit more adventurous. You can follow the river for a mile or more and there are several trails to the right that go up the hill to the canal access road, which you can then take back to the park.
Mark C — Google review
Enjoy visiting this park as it is local. I wish there was more incentive for the city to maintain and potentially develop the park further. Even with the minimal upkeep, the natural beauty of the area is evident. The trails are grown up and the access steps are in disrepair which would limit accessibility to the River area. The playground area is used very often.
Ron B — Google review
Canal is over grown limits fishing. Also path is nor as well kept as once was. The old building that had rest rooms is in disrepair. It needs some.love before it gets to a point it gets someone hurt.
Cecil H — Google review
Really nice place to visit. Had rain recently so the trail was muddy and water. Still worth it . Magnificent landscape. The view is breathing taking with the foliage.
Karla B — Google review
Great site to hike the upper canal trail, fish the pond or there is the lower hiking path at the riverside. There is a small playground & bridge near the parking lot, for our small humans. 😪Unfortunately there’s plenty of trash (I collect a bag each time I go) even though trash cans are provided at the parking areas. 🤩PLEASE LEAVE NO TRACE!!🥳 If you want to wade in the water I recommend wearing creek sneakers so you don’t get cut or a fish hook embedded. Happy Exploring!! ✌🏼

Small park but has a lot to do. Has picnic tables/pavilions, walking trails, river, fishing spots and a small playground. Great place to take a hike or take the kids to get some energy out.I didn't see any restrooms there but there could be some.

I like to go here to relax and listen to the water. I have heard someone say they had seen a snake, so be careful. I went yesterday and saw a snapping turtle in the water.

Park
The individuals responsible for constructing Matoaca Park unfortunately made some errors in the placement of the Home Field stands and other facilities, as they should have been situated on the opposite side of the field. It would be beneficial if these field builders understood that surrounding the field with parking lots would allow patrons to approach from various directions and have closer access. This setup would minimize walking distances, particularly for those with limited mobility.
A pretty standard park. The trails aren't really long enough to garner a visit by themselves, but the park is great for the local purposes it was made for. Most amenities in the park are in great condition.
Cherry — Google review
Clean, well maintained, with a great playground. The playground had benches and picnic tables all around, making it an excellent choice for a park play date. The bathrooms are reasonably clean as well.
Konni J — Google review
Love walking the trail path around the entire park and the facilities are fantastic with outdoor gym equipment and plenty to do for all! Lovely place.
T G — Google review
It's not a bad area of Ettrick. The park was kept clean, and it's a good place to play baseball although some kid did try to steal a pair of our shoes after asking if he and 2 of his friends could play baseball with us.
David P — Google review
The geniuses that built this place put the Home Field stands and such on the wrong side of the field and when are these field building idiots are going to understand that you should surround the field with the parking so patrons can come from multiple directions and be closer. Less walking, especially for mobility challenged individuals. With some large signage you could clearly designate a Home Side and a Visitors Side. Government idiots need to get out the way of commonsense.
William L — Google review
Nice park. Grounds are very clean & well kept. Parking lots are on the small side, and if you park in the one right next to the ball field & restrooms, be prepared for the fact that your car has a good chance of being hit by a ball. I've been there twice for baseball tournaments and the concession stands were not open either time.
Gina B — Google review
This is always a quiet and clean park. Of the many times I've been I've only come across a handful of people. The playground is in good shape and looks well maintained. The bathrooms here are very clean as well. My kids enjoy visiting here.

I run around this park almost every morning and I love that it is always clean and looks nice. Also very friendly for kids with a nice playground, and lots of running area. Gets a little busy during sports seasons but other than that it is good little “neighborhood” park.

Nestled in the vibrant downtown area, Resist Booksellers stands out as a unique indie bookstore that doubles as an engaging event space. This literary haven is dedicated to showcasing black stories and authors, featuring a diverse range of books from children's literature to timeless classics and contemporary narratives. The atmosphere is inviting, making it an ideal spot for community gatherings and thought-provoking discussions through various events held throughout the year.
Amazing independent bookstore! A large selection of children's books and middle grade books. I was stoked to find some new graphic novels I hadn't seen before, but I wish they had a bit more of a variety of graphic novels. I also loved the consignments by local artists, offering tea, bookmarks, and candles.

The Centre Hill Mansion-Museum is a historical institution housed in an impressive 1823 brick Greek Revival mansion, prominently featured in the film Lincoln. Situated in Petersburg, this architectural gem showcases a rich blend of Federal-style origins and subsequent Greek revival modifications, resulting in an exquisite display of intricate architectural elements. With convenient on-site parking and informative guides providing detailed descriptions, visitors can explore the notable presence of figures like President Lincoln and John Tyler within its walls.
The mansion is one of Peterburg's many treasures. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Brian, who was so thoughtful and engaging.

I love this architectural gem in Petersburg. This was my 3rd or 4th visit in as many decades. Originally built in the Federal style with many Greek revival alterations, it is an explosion of architectural detail. Convenient on-site parking and good descriptions from our guide. Lincoln was here as well as John Tyler and others. Well worth a visit for the history & architecture buffs.

But unfortunately the museum itself was closed. On the left side, where tour entrance is, there is a note that tours only done on 2 weeks prior appointment since 4th of June this year. Wish that info was available on website too, but it was not. Nevertheless, town of Petersburg is nice.

I am extremely thankful to Mr. Stewart for taking the time to talk about his collection and historical analysis. It was fortunate that I caught him before he headed into town, and I'm delighted that I visited during my road trip south. Be sure to visit this place and consider making a donation as it holds a significant collection. The museum proprietor, Richard, welcomed me on the porch and shared stories about the region's history as well as his own family's.
THIS IS A MUST SEE!!! Amazing visit to the oldest AA community in America!!! A museum ran by a wonderful man!!! I cannot begin to discuss how much I learned and the feeling I got walking down Witten Street. There was an article written about museum and it stated that Mr. Richard Stewart has over 8,500 years of history under one roof. The oldest home (brick) there was built in 1810 and is still standing. There is also one built in 1830. Mr. Stewart created and maintains every aspect of museum even cutting grass etc. He is very passionate about Pocahontas Island and it’s rich history. He has all Troyes of visitors; Presidents, lawyers, historians, and people like me who embraces and love African history and roots. I was informed about museum while in downtown Richmond. I wish I had known earlier because I definitely didn’t have enough time to take in all that was in front of me. I highly recommend that you visit this museum if in the Richmond area. If you call and don’t get an answer, just do as I did and drive to area and walk around. Lucky for me as I walked down Witten Street, I saw Mr. Stewart enter museum. He was nice enough to give me an impromptu tour. I definitely plan to return and spend more time at museum. We had a great conversation and he said I was the 2nd visitor from MS. Somehow the picture those further north have of us (AA’s in MS) is that we are uneducated people who still live lives similar to those on plantation. 🤔 I did donate to museum because what Mr. Stewart has done and is doing to preserve history is commendable. This very important part of history must be kept alive!!!
Dr. R — Google review
An important collection. The museum owner, Richard, greeted us on the front porch and told us stories about the history of the area (and of his own family). A house full of documents and artifacts from many periods of American history. Warm, friendly, wonderfully informative.

I am so grateful to Mr Stewart for taking the time to chat with me about both his collection and his historical analysis. I was lucky to catch him before he went into town for the afternoon and I'm really glad that I stopped by on my road trip south. Make sure to check this place out and leave a donation

Laquina J — Google review
I had the distinct pleasure to visit the museum on 5/31/21. I was blown away by the engaging conversation with Mr. Richard Stewart, the owner. He is an endless resource of Black history and a direct descendent of the early settlers in the area. If you have the opportunity please go and visit. It is well worth the time and I assure you you'll come away with more knowledge than you could have ever thought possible to gain from one visit.
Gerrard A — Google review
Absolutely wonderful. A must visit!!! . We went today and look forward to returning. Mr Stewart is extremely knowledgeable of ancestral history, as well as his own lineage upon the land. He is humbly a master storyteller. You will not be disappointed with the tour. Much respect and appreciation for him. One Love.

This restaurant is great! The ladies that make it work everyday are Fantastic!! Really good people!! 🤗💐 I come here every day they are open. If you happen to like liver & onions, which I do, this is the place for you. And for breakfast, I get the Dixie Scramble, so good!! If you are within an hour, it is worth the drive! Be sure to tip well...👍🙂 Have a great day!!

Visited the Dixie Restaurant for the first time this morning. I enjoyed the quaint southern atmosphere and hospitality by the staff. The food was good. I especially recommend the fluffy buttery biscuits. Room for improvement: I recommend improving the drinks, specifically the hot tea and hot chocolate is on the menu but wasn’t available for purchase today. Also, I recommend using pure maple syrup instead of pancake syrup and fresh whipped butter instead of packaged butter.

We tried! We came in and were told to sit anywhere we wanted. We sat down at the only empty table (I think there are only 8 table in the restaurant). Someone came right over and took out soft drink order and came right back with 2 sodas - both of which were flat. For the next 8 minutes we sat there while we saw a staff member refilling ketchup containers. No one else came to our table. We got up and walked out, leaving our flat sodas on the table. So, I can't comment on the food. I will let you decide how we felt about the service we received.

Saucy's Sit-Down Bar.B.Q is a BBQ restaurant that offers a selection of ribs, chicken, and other staple dishes in a modern and minimalistic setting. Customers can enjoy their meals at outdoor picnic tables. Based on reviews, Saucy's is praised for its flavorful food and generous portions. The sauce is described as sweet yet balanced with savory flavors. The coleslaw stands out with its unique combination of cilantro and pineapple.
We ordered the container and it had a third rack of ribs, a smoked bbq chicken leg, two sliders, and the two sides we chose were mashed sweet potatoes and mac and cheese. We were missing the sliders but everything we had was great quality barbecue. We also ordered a side of fries which were well seasoned and didn’t need ketchup ! Will definitely be coming back to try other things on the menus !

We got the Cue balls which was like cheese and jalapeños ( but not spicy), mac balls which is fried Mac n cheese, and then the brisket nachos. The cue and Mac were really tasty! Love the green sauce it comes with. Nice appetizer and unique item. The brisket on the nachos were delicious but otherwise the dish itself was too plain Jane. No sauce just too many dry chips that didn’t get eaten. Would be nice to have some more flavor in there or at least some pico de gallo salsa. Otherwise it’s a nice spot. Cozy and cool atmosphere for a quick bite! Updating my review to show more recent pics (last pic) of the sample platter! It was good! The sweet potatoes have a unique flavor. Pretty good I think it’s same in the Q balls.

Overall I enjoyed this place and recommend it. It was a beautiful day so we sat on the patio. We had great service and enjoyed our time here. The food was pretty good. However, I'm from KC so I'm a little bias when it comes to BBQ 😂 I recommend their ribs and their chicken. Potato salad was some of the best I've had! I was very disappointed with their sausage. It was cold, not cut, and not good. Beer is very expensive - 7.50 for a pacifico.

Visited Saucy’s over the weekend and it was divine! We tried the mac balls, pork tacos, brisket sandwich, and potato salad. The brisket was our favorite, but all were delish! Service was great, food came fast, and the food was affordable. Our waiter even brought out a water bowl for our pup who came along with us. We sat on the patio which is nicely shaded. Would highly recommend and will be visiting again!

We stopped after a visit to the national park Crate site. The food was amazing. The ribs and pulled pork sandwich were both tasty. The highlight tho was the Moon Fry for desert. A deep fried moon pie with a Caramel glaze and ice cream. It tastes as good as you'd think, actually a lot better. Worth the trip on its own, but do try the BBQ also.
Helixx H — Google review
I ordered the sampler plate. It came with a brisket slider, chicken thigh, sausage Link, 3 small ribs, and 2 sides. The brisket was dry and not tender. The ribs were tough and gristley. The sausage was ok but didn't have much flavor. The chicken was very good. The 3 beans side was good and so was the coleslaw. The server was very attentive and pleasant. Chicken is not my first choice of bbq meat, but it's the only meat I would order from here. I'm really not that picky but the brisket and ribs were disappointing.

Pizza restaurant
Brother's Pizza is a delightful Italian trattoria that captures the essence of casual dining with its diverse menu, featuring everything from thin-crust pizzas to classic pasta dishes. This gem has become a favorite for those seeking authentic New York-style pizza in the area, especially for visitors who have struggled to find quality pies elsewhere. The atmosphere is family-friendly and inviting, making it an ideal stop during road trips or casual outings.
I’ve only ever had take out, so can’t speak on the atmosphere. I usually get the same large pizza with chicken, pineapple, black olives, onions, and mushrooms. Plus a large order of onion rings. It’s always delicious! Sometimes the chicken is a little dry/crispy, but it’s still good on the pizza! One thing I love most and will stay loyal as long as it stays is the amount of toppings you get. They don’t skimp you. Esp not when you pay for extra. I love the onion rings as well- maybe placing a paper towel on top will help with the condensation making them a little soggy on pickup orders though. It’s about $30 for my order each time. Mushrooms are canned not fresh but I don’t mine as some might.

My fiance is from NY, and said the pizza is pretty close to NY pizza as u can get for the area. We were not disappointed! The pasta was great, and even the warm garlic bread was spot on. We hope to stop by again on the next road trip!

I usually don’t have a problem here and I always get food from here. I ordered a salad and the lettuce was brown and the only solution the manager had was for me to bring the salad that was thrown away in the trash back When they open up on Wednesday. It’s not even worth the trouble and I probably won’t place another order here again.

Running out of gas on our way to Raleigh, NC, hungry and looking for GOOD food, we found this by 'mistake'. And, a great mistake it was! I was impressed that they offered 6-inch subs (plus fries) on their extensive menu. Awesome option for someone who still had a couple hours of driving left. Their Cheesesteak Special was the best I've had outside of Philly in a long, long time. Our server, Nikki, was 'the bomb' and took great care of us from start to finish during a very busy time of day (she even pronounced my name right on the first try, LoL). Definitely will stop there on next trip back from PA, and you should too, whether heading north or south. You will be glad that you did!

Fantastic crust with their pizzas, my second favorite so far. The lava cake à la mode was equally awesome. An easy recommend, though everyone who lives out there already knows that.

Going to Brothers Pizza for over 20 years they used to be a really great place in the last couple of months. It seems they’ve really gone downhill The wait time for food or even a refill on drink is well over the time that it should be and then if six or more people sit at the table you’re forced to pay a tip, even if the waitress does a crappy job and doesn’t deserve one. Hoping this mediocre review opens the eyes of management an improvements are made if not, there’s lots of other pizza places to go to!

Stopped in for a tour as we passed through Petersburg. We had the most professional and personable tour guide in Vernon, who spent over an hour sharing the history of the chapel and its Tiffany windows with us. So glad we visited.

Neat little museum! Free admission. The building is immaculately restored, they have all the old money printing presses, and even the original vault!

Enjoyed our visit today and our guide was wonderful! We learned so much about the building, the bank, and the area. Loved the old safe and the teller counter! It’s not a long tour, but it’s neat to see everything up close! Take your time and learn something new! Would definitely go again, and highly recommend! Also, it’s free! Just consider donating, since it’s a nonprofit with volunteers just trying to teach people some history. Hours are from 11am-3pm Friday & Saturday. Worth the visit!

This is a gem! We are from Louisiana, and looking for a Virginia themed Christmas ornament to commemorate our visit. Not only did we find the cutest ornament, the shop had antiques and local goodies like fresh honey, pepper jelly, a variety of fruit chutney, fudge, etc... the owners were so friendly! I highly recommend this place!

Sushi restaurant
Wabi-Sabi is a vibrant culinary gem that offers an eclectic mix of sushi, tapas, and burgers within a lively brick-walled setting. The upstairs lounge adds to the festive atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for both casual dining and special occasions. Diners rave about the divine sushi options like the Old Towne Crunch roll and Bagel Roll, which are beautifully presented.
I had an amazing dining experience at Wabi-Sabi in Petersburg. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was inviting and had a great vibe. The warm welcoming from the staff was great. I started with the lollipop lamb chops and tempura fried green beans as appetizers. The lamb chops were cooked perfectly—tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The green beans were crispy, light, and had just the right amount of seasoning. I also tried the Wabi Balls with shrimp, and they were absolutely delicious, with a perfect balance of texture and taste. For my main course, I went with the chicken katsu dinner, which did not disappoint. The chicken was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and paired beautifully with the sauce. Every bite was flavorful and satisfying. What really made the experience stand out was my server, Hannah. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, gave great recommendations, and provided top-tier service throughout my visit. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect. Wabi-Sabi is definitely a must-visit if you're in Petersburg. The food, atmosphere, and service were all outstanding, and I can’t wait to go back!

Not what it used to be or maybe it’s an off day. I ordered a poke bowl which looked great on top. It was a bowl of rice with a few toppings covering the rice. Very little substance. The Old Town Crunch roll was nothing like it used to be to be. The waitress forgot my drink and sushi until I reminded her but in all fairness she was super nice about it. We all have off days. Maybe the food was just having an off day. I used to come here a lot and the only complaint I’d ever had was it’s expensive, but very good.
Scott O — Google review
Come here frequently and the food is always superb and we always get the same waitress and she’s phenomenal!! Fiona is the best (top tier service) They have an amazing selection of food items and the crab fries are a MUST GET! Food can be a little pricy but all and all it’s worth it! Never had a bad meal here and we always get great derives everytime and plus there is an underground bar!
Tyler F — Google review
Do not get the lettuce wrap. They are not at all like the P.F. Chang’s or similar. They were too salty and mushy. The balls aren’t bad but for the extra amount on meat choice there barely was any salmon. The crab dip is a hit or miss on thickness but has great flavor! Bathrooms aren’t bad and tables seem fairly clean. No wait and pick your own table.

Best date night in town. I have been thrilled to be here for lunch when it is a bright and fun atmosphere. I've had a great time when there was live music. I've enjoyed other times when it was pretty quiet at night and I just sat at the bar with my wife. The food is incredible, the staff is very friendly, they seem to be able to tell the difference between intimate moments and when we would like company and conversation. I cannot recommend it highly enough. 6 out of 5 stars!
Sam S — Google review
I would not recommend this place! Service wasn’t great. The food was expensive and definitely not worth the cost. I got a sushi roll with fried shrimp in it, there was literally oil dripping off of it. (Picture attached) The oil tasted old and had a rancid taste. My roll was $18 on the menu and I was charged $20. Just don’t waste your time coming here.
Sebastian M — Google review
We used to LOVE coming to Wab Sabi when we first started dating about 10 years ago. The prices were steep then but the food was worth it. Over time, it started going down hill so we stopped coming and went elsewhere. For our anniversary we decided to give it a try since it had been awhile. I really wish we had saved our money. For the price, the quality is kust not there for the sushi rolls. One of mine was made incorrectly and my husband said his rice tasted like water. The service was also pretty bad. Our waitress was super sweet but it took forever to get anything. Beer, food, etc.
Chelsea T — Google review
The best thing about this place is the decor, the vibe is great. On a Tuesday night, it was quiet and cozy. We had a party of 7 and we all ordered different things from pasta to sandwiches and sushi. 1. The Cajun pasta was ordered and served without the chicken. We brought it to the waiters attention and he checked the kitchen and came back with the chicken and apologized saying they forgot to add it. 2. We ordered 2 martinis and they were mediocre. Can't say much about it except the espresso martini was not like others I've had in the past. 3. A total of 3 sushi rolls were ordered and 2 came out at the same time. The last roll was the last plate to arrive at our table about 10 mins after the very first plate arrived. As a family we usually don't eat unless everyone has their food first, this was a minor inconvenience for us. 4. I personally ate the kickin salmon and manhattan rolls. Something wasn't right as 15 mins after leaving the restaurant it all came back up. I mention those 2 rolls specifically because I'm the only one that ate those and the only one who got sick. 5. If you order any meal that has rice, be warned they use sushi rich for their regular dishes too. Two people ordered one chicken dish and one fish dish and both were served with sushi rice. 6. THEY DO NOT HAVE SUSHI SALMON. They use SMOKED salmon. As a salmon sushi lover that was the most disappointing part. Overall, not authentic sushi. Kitchen is hit or miss apparently. The only ones who enjoyed their meals were the people who got sandwiches. Waiter was attentive but did need to be called over a few times. He got his 18% automatically for the size of our party. Also bring cash, there is a percentage based fee for card transactions, about $6 for our $132 bill.

The cozy ambiance invites you to linger longer with friends or family, although some may find the service a bit slow during busy times.
Food was perfect, good atmosphere to sit and talk without it being too loud. Waitstaff was real attentive and made sure our table and others were taken care of. Didn't get drinks this time so can't comment on those but overall a good option downtown.

Edit: went back for dinner recently and it was equally good. Friendly staff, my book club had a great time. Tried the chicken salad sandwich and the side salad and onion rings. Still fantastic and comforting. Original post: Beautiful place to have lunch. It was so nice to sit and eat with a view out of the window and the sun shining. The soup of the day was great and I could eat a whole basket of the sweet potato fries.

The food was the freshest! Everything was prepared to order and screaming hot. Our waitress was friendly and attentive to the point that she noticed things we may have needed before we did. I didn't have my glasses and she even read my tab for me. The ample menu offered something for everyone and everything is reasonably priced. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Front counter for pick up was quick and friendly. Delicious food and nice portions for the price. Sandwich comes with fries and a pickle and overall, very filling. Sandwich was delicious and nice different choices. I got the Mediterranean panini and Cuban sandwich. Both were 10/10

Wow ordered pickup for lunch and it was the best! Would have taken a picture but it was so delicious it disappeared in minutes. The paninis are amazing and I love the offerings they have that most places don't! Service was friendly and lovely. Ignore the bad reviews about service, those people obviously have no patience and expect to be served like kings. God forbid you have to read a drink menu on the wall! When we're back in state we're coming back and we want to visit more because of this place!

Space has a nice atmosphere! It’s cozy enough to sit and relax for a longer period with friends and family. Waitstaff doesn’t rush you which is great but on the flip side it’s a bit slow. if you’re starving then it will be frustrating, but If you have the time to wait it’s good. We got the California burger, the Cuban, and the French dip. The burger was pretty good but the avocado on the side wasn’t too fresh. The sweet potato fries were soo delicious! The Cuban was pretty good but a little basic for my taste. The potato salad had too much mayonnaise so was hard to taste anything but that. The French dip was good and the best when you dipped it in the sauce. The drink was an espresso martini that tasted pretty good! Nice hint of coffee and alcohol. Then we got the strawberry shortcake. It wasn’t my favorite, taste a little generic so will pass next time. Still will come back and try new things. Nice place with lots of food options. We paid $60 plus tip. Prices are fair!

Sunday, just after lunchtime, and it really wasn't horribly busy. I got a little confused though, because the sign said to wait to be seated. I waited for staff, and they said I could sit anywhere, which was nice, because I got to sit at one of the low tables right next to the window. It could be a little close in here, but basically it is accessible to all. Parking was not a problem today, but some days I think it might be.

Chicken restaurant
Fast-food chain offering fried chicken, sandwiches, wings & Southern-influenced sides.
I can’t give them nothing less than a 5 star. I must have went on a great day. So, let’s get into it…. Pros: Customer Service was awesome. They were out of original breast and they actually asked if I wanted spicy(normally a place will just give you whatever). Our food was FRESH & HOT The mashed potatoes were my best part Cons: It took us 20 mins to get through the drive thru with 5 cars ahead of me. The biscuit is nasty(just my opinion)
LB W — Google review
Little disappointed ordered a 4pc combo thought I was getting a piece of each and was legs and thighs only for almost $13 bucks. Chicken was just ok I loved the biscuit! Coleslaw I did not like. Not the Church's I remember from back in the day.
Marcia W — Google review
Please check your order! Nowhere in my order did I ask for fries. I specifically stopped for biscuits, yet fries were placed in the biscuit bag. I can’t tell if it was done as a joke or with ill intent, but either way, this is the last time I’ll be spending my money here. And I honestly didn’t check because we shouldn’t be checking after a small simple order but here we are… another disappointed customer
Jaynee J — Google review
Was so excited to have some Church's after a long time since many have closed down. The flavor of the chicken, was just as I remembered, absolutely delicious! Bummed that there was no rice ready at 11:46 in the morning, but that's fine. The staff was extremely nice. The prices of the sides have definitely gone up a lot, for the portion, but still tasty. This establishment really needs to get a plumber or a janitor to clean the restrooms, there was a disgusting sewer order that was leaking into the dining area. Although this has nothing to do with the food, it did leave a bad experience in my mind, as I couldn't enjoy sitting and dining.

My team and I went to Church's Chicken. We were tired and hungry. Tatyana, Mya, and Tearrie were super attentive and friendly. We're very happy with their customer service. 100% recommended.

The girls who work there now are A+ employees. They will get you out of there just be patient, it's hot in there so they are moving a little bit slower. Not enough that you're going to be there longer than 10 mins max. Food is always good. The spicy chicken is the best! I'm addicted.
Denise C — Google review
I have been coming to this location since the early 1980s! The chicken is unlike anywhere else and I'm a loyal customer! Over the years, I have literally seen hundreds of people work there, but the chicken I got never lost it's greatness. This place was a must-have for chicken at large church events when I was growing up! IYKYK
Joseph S — Google review
This place is a complete mess! Ordered online and put drive thru for pick up. Got to drive thru and they said we had to come inside. Go inside and one order was done byt my other one was being bagged. My order was missing the extra piece of chicken i paid for and the gurl got an attitude when i told her it was not in the box. The food was cold and tasted old like it was sitting for hours. Cole slaw was dry and had no taste. Will not be going back.. Then today i had an uber eats delivery from here and same girls working order was suppose to be ready when i got there. Waited about 10 minutes before the girl asked me what i needed then she eventually got to making the food after other orders that had just walked in.. it was about 2pm and there was over 100 pieces of chicken cooked sitting on the rack above the fryers and they were just serving them like they were just cooked. I waited for about 25 minutes for the order to ready and it was not cooked fresh. All food was sitting around. Anyways this is first time eating here and my very last.. very poor customer service. I wish i could give -0 stars .

Humble outpost serving an eclectic mix of classic Chinese fare & American grub in a low-key setting.
They got my food out quickly, it was still almost too hot to eat. The black pepper chicken is to die for and the cookies and cream milk shake was great. I made my self hungry just thinking about it. Calling back NOW!!

They are under new management and they are rude. They will begin to talk in native language. I called at 230pm for food to be delivered. It never came. So I left work to pick up order at 550pm and had to wait. When I got to work the order was wrong. I came up to talk to manage he he acted like he never talked with me. Pls find some where else to go. It's not worth it. The new management is bad.

Definitely not returning. Basically, the restaurants are passed down from family to family and just when you try to get used to the way things are done and made, there are strangers who don’t have the same work ethic and the quality of food changes. Yet , there will be 8 people in there hanging out and still things are not right
Spencer G — Google review
The food can be quite good at times however, the quality is inconsistent. Sometimes you get plenty of sauce (General Tso, BBQ Boneless Ribs, etc.), sometimes hardly any at all. I've gotten the General Tso Chicken a few times with no broccoli at all, and you don't get a pepper either, even after asking for it to be extra spicy. They used to include a pepper, though. Now, they just sprinkle in some pepper flakes. The portions can be generous most of the time, but not always. The fried rice only includes rice, chopped yellow onions, a few flecks of green onion, and a very small amount of sprouts. No egg or other vegetables. Of course you get vegetables in the vegetable fried rice, though. They also aren't very customer-friendly. You will often get asked for your order and unless you are lightning fast to start speaking, they will usually turn and start talking to one of the other employees leaving you to talk to yourself, LOL. It's happened to me many times and I've seen it happen to others many times. They also bicker back and forth (in Chinese, of course). The women are stone-faced. About 99% of the time they don't smile and are almost expressionless. Sometimes they say thank you. I stopped going there for several years. I recently went back and not much has changed, except they no longer deliver to homes, even if you live within a 10-minute walking distance. I've started ordering Chinese delivery from places on the other side of town, instead. There are just too many issues that need to be addressed by this place. I got tired of often walking away with negative feelings. They're not the worst, but there are better places. Hopefully they will change for the better one day. However, I plan to learn how to make this food at home (see YouTube). It's really not difficult once you have a few key ingredients.
Mills D — Google review
My boyfriend and I ordered from this restaurant and the delivery person was 3 hours late getting here and when they got here they had the most disgusting attitude. Why should I be waiting 3 hours to eat some cold Chinese food ?!!!! I am absolutely disgusting and disappointed with my experience and I will never order here again, and I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone!!! Very unprofessional!!! Take your money else where.

“Good takeout” I found myself in the area around dinner time on a Friday and was craving something besides pizza. The hotel recommended jade garden so I stopped by for some takeout. It's not the most amazing Chinese food you'll ever eat but it's good and everyone there was super friendly. The food was fast, too.

Jade Garden has the widest arrangement of menu items you'll find. The streak and cheese is to die for. Full of flavor and only 8 and change. The steak & cheese egg roll is under 2bucks & its over stuffed with meat & cheese like I'd make at home. Not full of onions and peppers like other places. Great value for all the portion sizes. I love the family options on the menu. It's a one stop shop. 6pc mozz sticks under 4$. They even have perfectly crunchy outside French fries with mashed potato like centers. The pork lo mein is my favorite when looking for Chinese food. Just give them a shot. You can't go wrong.

Ordered 3 entree with 3 smoothes and got only 2 and they told me only got order 2 and other charges are tax and delivery fee. And the order. They just place the order separate if you say orangechicken with fried rice. Not combo price. Which is 3 dollar extra Still ripped us off. And the food was dry. Teast like old orange chicken and old general tso chicken. Will never order from here again. People who do. Check the price. Always!
