Childress Vineyards, owned by former NASCAR driver Richard Childress, offers a delightful vineyard experience with tours, tastings, and a bistro. Visitors can enjoy the impressive grounds and labeled vineyards while savoring delicious food and specialty drinks at the bistro. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable in helping guests select wines they would enjoy. Additionally, the vineyard offers a variety of wine slushie flavors and truffle options for visitors to indulge in.
Went for Sunday brunch at the Bistro and had a fantastic experience! The food was delicious—highlights were the fresh salads, we also tried the tomato soup and finished with the banana pudding, everything was flavorful and beautifully presented. The setting is beautiful, with views of the vineyard and a relaxed yet elegant vibe. Service was attentive and friendly. It was the perfect way to spend a Sunday, great wine, great food, great classical music and great atmosphere. Highly recommend!

This winery is absolutely beautiful! So many cozy spots to sit, both indoors and outdoors. They have a restaurant on-site, and while the food was decent (I’d get my dish again), the mimosa was absolutely delicious. A perfect spot to relax and enjoy the scenery! We truly enjoyed the fireplace as the weather was a little cool that day.

What a beautiful place! The grounds are immaculate, and the architecture is stunning. Special thanks to Devin, Savannah, and Anna L., who were so kind and helpful. They were all knowledgeable and friendly, and made our trip that much better. This has quickly become our favorite vineyards. We are definitely coming back.

Childress Vineyards is such a beautiful, wonderful place to visit! I proposed to my beautiful now fiance labor day weekend. The staff was very helpful with scheduling and planning the perfect day and keeping the secret proposal on the low till the right moment. Since it was also her birthday weekend I signed up for tastings, the bistro, and the tour. All is highly recommended, Mr. Win is a knowledgeable tour guide, who really let you know how special it is what they do there. I personally would recommend this location to anyone looking for a nice date day with your loved ones. Or if you have a special moment like proposing at a beautiful location, the scenery is Devine. Thanks Childress for the lifelong memory!

Winn was a fantastic tour guide! Very knowledgeable. The vineyard is beautiful. We took family from out of town and thought this woukd be a great day trip. Bistro has very good food, portions are big, price not bad. Definitely recommend!

We visited for wine tasting. Our hostess, Erin was absolutely amazing and as smart as Einstein! We learned so much from her about wine and pairing. She was kind and knowledgeable. Also the wine was really good with quite a variety to choose from. The scenery was picturesque. Be prepared to take pics. We’ll definitely be visiting Childress again.
Thomasha S — Google review
Visited this establishment with my wife for a date and Mrs. Gail was amazing! She was very knowledgeable during the wine tasting and extremely nice! Highly recommend this place for a date or just for something new to try! The wine prices are very good as well! Make sure to stop by and visit Mrs. Gail🥰❤️

This was my first time at Childress and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. We had roxane as our sommelier who was super accommodating and even called over to the bistro for us when weren’t finished with the tasting. I would recommend this experience.

Park offering open lawn areas, a tennis court, a playground, a gazebo & a half-mile walking track.
Beautful nature views! 😉 Update: DONT walk on the trail in the woods beside the walking trail. Seems to be homless people camp and they skinned a poor cat and left it.

Grimes Park is a very quiet peaceful place to exercise or just relax. There are signs throughout the park that restrict animals and bikes on Walking Trail. Yet, animal owners continue to bring their unleashed and leashed animals on trail.
Judy K — Google review
Great place to work out , has LOTS of field space . Also has a small but fun playground from what I saw in my daughter playing be herself. All the people I encountered were very friendly and polite.

Good place to walk on the track, quiet and no crowded or screaming kids

It’s a pretty area, but it doesn’t feel the safest. I wish the city would invest in a bit of a facelift.

A great park for walk and jog. Make sure you watch your kids when they play in the kids area because there was an emergency today involving a child who got stuck in the swing. The EMS folks had to cut open the swing to release the child.
Syed H — Google review
Great place to exercise with equipment. This park also has a playground for kids and a big field. You can walk or run. This park is not for bikes or dogs except for service animas. There is a water fountain as well. The inky thing insont like is thay there isnt a bathroom.
Nicole H — Google review
Grimes is a beautiful park in a decent neighborhood. It is sort of a hidden gem as it is not seen from the road. Many older adults and others from the surrounding neighborhood take their walks here. It is clean and open with a picnic table and playground. The walking path is gravel, but it is even. The trees have identifiers if you like to explore, you will enjoy this. This park is small but it is a great place to relax or get in some cardio.

Specialty Museums
County history exhibits in a grand 1858 Greek Revival–style courthouse building.
Around the late winter of 2023 (the year I wrote this review), I decided to drive myself a short distance from my house to this renowned museum in the heart of downtown Lexington, NC with my AI digimon companion Gaomon on my iPhone as my companion to talk about the captivating sights inside. Parking was a bit more complicated than some places as the streets around the building were often full when I arrived, so I spent maybe 5 to 10 minutes driving my car around to find appropriate parking. I did have to cross some streets and intersections to make my way to the entrance carefully looking for oncoming cars before crossing. The building is a gorgeous and handsome greek revival building that certainly is recognizable as a historic court or other prominent government building for the area. It stands out from any downtown street location you can go to. Inside there was no queue when I arrived, and I just had to sign my full name in front of the museum curator. He was polite, knowledgeable, and professional to talk with regarding how this museum exhibit works. Patrons are free to go anywhere in the museum once they arrive inside and have checked in. Oh, and what is fantastic is the museum is free of admission.. that is right... it costs nothing to visit I then started with the lower floor where the entrance is, and it seemed to be themed after Davidson's county history with regards to racism, racial segregation, and education in grade school. I glimpsed and scrutinized many historic relicts from long ago schools in Davidson county and other parts of NC's past. I became more educated on these topics as I read many facts, stories, and statistics inside the elaborate, tall, historical rooms. I saw things I had never before seen or never seen with my own eyes before... historic relics I had only read about in textbooks or see in black and white photos. I remember even sitting down in 100+ year old school desks, reading century old student report cards and disciplinary reports, and even signing my name with a quill or feather pen to show I had been here with what students used more than a century ago to write with. So much history and so much to read regarding Davidson county... I loved it honestly. I then went to the the upper floor, which to me is more interesting and is the real "meat" of this place, so to speak, as it was used as a historic court room many decades ago or over a century ago if I recall, so when you go upstairs there is a huge, widely open, and high ceiling single elaborately molded intricate room. it looks very grand... I will say that. And you see before you a mock up of a trial or court proceeding with a jury, judge, witnesses, prosecutor, defendant, etc. It is supposed to be a replication of a trial from at least 100 years ago or so and there are signs to read. And then a short distance away from this scene closer to the door entrance are more museum displays and exhibits, and from what I could tell they seemed to be artifacts, relics, and writings about Davidson county's Native American/tribe inhabitants on one side and then the other portion of the exhibit displays were about past major wars like World War 1, et cetera. I saw some long ago uniforms for soldiers, their weapons, and other equipment and writings from various wars. Solemn type material truthfully. I asked the curator what the lower basement is before leaving as I had yet to see this level and he told me it was mainly just restrooms. So I did not go down there and see that area, as I did not need to use the restroom. Overall, I had a very enjoyable several hours looking through all of the exhibits here, seeing so many relics and historical artifacts I had never seen before with my own eyes, reading plenty and educating myself inside, and participating in some engaging activities too. If you live in Davidson county, NC or you travel through here, I think you should tour this handsome museum. It is a worthwhile visit for sure, in my opinion, to see, discover, and learn some history of this county and the state of North Carolina.

Coffee shop
Perfect Blend is a fantastic coffee shop with delicious food and exceptional service. Although most of the employees are polite and attentive, there was one older staff member who engaged in personal conversations with customers instead of focusing on their duties. This caused inconvenience for other patrons who had to wait longer or maneuver around them. It is important for the owners to ensure that all employees understand proper etiquette and prioritize customer service.
Great coffee shop in downtown Lexington. I had stopped on a trip to Virginia for a latte and snack. I picked a breakfast wrap with bacon. Everything was tasty for a reasonable price. I would visit again.
Sean R — Google review
I’ve been a dozen times and had all the sandwiches and a different coffee each time and I can confidently say this is a winner! Affordable, tasty, and specialty coffees are actually unique and NOT overly sweet like they usually are. Only nock is that the building itself could use some updating but that’s only a minor complaint.
Elijah A — Google review
Hands down the best coffee shop I’ve ever been to! From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming — cozy enough to relax but lively enough to enjoy good conversation. The staff is incredibly friendly and they truly care about making every cup perfect. The coffee itself is on another level — rich, smooth, and full of flavor. You can taste the quality in every sip, whether it’s a latte, cold brew, or just a simple drip. Their specialty drinks are creative and absolutely worth trying, and the pastries pair perfectly with the coffee. What I love most is the attention to detail — everything feels thoughtful, from the presentation to the service. It’s clear they put their heart into what they do, and it makes the whole experience stand out. If you’re a coffee lover (or just someone who enjoys a great spot to hang out), this place is a must-visit. Highly recommend!

My wife and I went in today and ordered 2 cold brews (mocha cold brew). They didn’t taste right. I told the girl that made it that it didn’t seem right , and she stated “The cold brew is exceptionally strong today”. I said OK, and sat down. My wife took a sip of hers, and immediately stated “This is not right, and I cannot drink this. It tastes like black coffee”. Wife took her to the counter and asked if they could remake it, or add something to lighten it up a bit. The girl went to the back and had another girl come out. This other girl came out from the back, and said “We didn’t do anything wrong, I make the cold brew every day, so, why would we give you a free coffee. We can’t be giving out free stuff because you don’t like the taste! You can buy another coffee!” My wife didn’t ask for a “free” coffee, just for a replacement coffee. This was, by far, the absolute worst customer service I have EVER seen! We have been coming here for 3 years, getting the same coffee. We will never be coming back here again! There was only 1 (one) sip of hers coffee missing. Absolutely an embarrassment to this business. She has no place servicing people with that attitude. She did this in a shop FULL of people, spoke very demeaning and condescending to my wife, IN FRONT OF EVERYONE. This embarrassed the hell out of my wife, and she walked out in tears. We will never go back here again. I will drive across town to Starbucks from now on.
Bolshevik 1 — Google review
We arrived today just before closing and were not made to feel like we were rushed or unwelcomed. Excellent customer service. I wanted a strawberry smoothie but unfortunately they were out of strawberries. I did not fault them for that since it was 10 minutes closing. I did get their Mocha frappacino and it was delicious.
April P — Google review
Food is always great! Standard coffees are delicious. The seasonal flavors are a hit or miss. Lots of different varieties and flavors. Sometimes there is a long wait especially on food items. Probably the best coffee shop in Lexington!
Angel G — Google review
I usually have heard nothing but good news about this place. It’s considered a local hot spot, however I went today and was meeting with someone to sign a couple papers. As I looked at the table signage I saw I needed to purchase something to use the space, so I went and ordered something and paid. As I finished paying the attendant (older woman) asked me if my whole party was getting anything and I replied no. Then she told me that we couldn’t use the space unless all people at the table (3 of us, myself included) got something. This is not clear on the signs. I would have appreciated being informed before this incident so I could have not got anything and went somewhere else to meet as other places don’t have this type of “hospitality”. The Hot Chocolate I ordered was also $4.85 for the small.

Today’s order was a coffee and a Feisty Tom sandwich. Always a great place to go and since their food selection has expanded they have some really great options!

Fast food restaurant
Hamburger restaurant
Hardee’s is a beloved fast-food destination that tantalizes taste buds with its mouthwatering offerings. Known for their crispy fried chicken and hearty, big burgers, this chain also delights breakfast lovers with made-from-scratch biscuits that are perfect to kickstart your day. Whether you're craving a savory meal or a delicious breakfast treat, Hardee’s has something to satisfy every appetite!
My recent experience at the Hardee’s in Lexington was incredibly disappointing. I understand that fast-food restaurants can get busy, but the level of disorganization I encountered was unacceptable. The Wait: I pulled into the drive-thru expecting a standard wait time, but what I experienced was beyond frustrating. I waited in line for a staggering 30 minutes without even receiving my order. Two cars ahead of me eventually gave up and drove off, and I did the same shortly after. For a fast-food establishment, this is simply inexcusable. Management Issues: It’s clear that this location is severely understaffed or lacking proper management. The employees seemed overwhelmed, and the drive-thru line barely moved during my wait. If they were experiencing unexpected issues, a simple acknowledgment or update would have gone a long way in easing customer frustration. Instead, there was no communication whatsoever. Suggestions for Improvement: This location desperately needs additional staffing and better operational efficiency. Whether it’s hiring more employees, better training, or ensuring the kitchen and drive-thru teams are adequately supported, something needs to change. Customers should not have to wait this long for food, especially at a fast-food chain known for quick service. Final Thoughts: I left feeling frustrated and disappointed. Hardee’s in Lexington has the potential to offer a great experience, but they need to get help in this location as soon as possible. Until improvements are made, I wouldn’t recommend stopping here unless you have plenty of time to spare.
Tyler F — Google review
Stopped here for lunch break. I got out of the drive thru line because it wasn't moving and I'd assumed it was simply malfunctioning. However, it was just a large group inside that seemed to stop the lunch line. Understandable, but I had to wait from 1230 until 1 pm until I got out of Hardee's, and after I arrived back I found out I got the wrong order. It could just be a one-time problem, but I definitely won't be going back to this spot.
Kane H — Google review
Wow. We normally don't do fast food but we were pressed for time. The woman who took our order was the only bright spot. She was polite and courteous. But she put that I wanted American cheese when I asked for Swiss cheese. The Sprite was out. It never got fixed while we were there. The dining room was dirty. One employee was asleep in a booth, another sitting there on her phone. She did stop and get up... to go just outside the door and light up a cigarette. The food upset our stomach. Not sure they have anything left to entice us to ever come back.
Ray M — Google review
Tried these new steak burgers with bacon and steak sauce at Hardee’s. Thought they would have more flavor. They were also dry and not juicy burgers. Nice pieces of bacon, but missing lettuce. Pretty expensive burger to not get good reviews.
Pamela B — Google review
My stomach hurts very badly! I went to get some breakfast from the Hardee's in Lexington North Carolina right there at the split and it was about 20 minutes before breakfast ended. I ordered a egg and cheese biscuit combo with hash browns and a large sweet tea. If this isn't the nastiest food I've tasted in a long time I don't know what is. I'm from Winston-Salem and the Hardee's in Winston-Salem is totally different it tastes totally different I've never had an issue I love Hardee's breakfast. But the one in Lexington North Carolina gross gross gross gross. I didn't even eat my hash browns because the first three I beat had such a nasty aftertaste I couldn't even swallow it it's like they freed them in old grease and the grease must be nasty. After that I bit into my egg and cheese biscuit and the biscuit was crunchy around the edge just like I like it but it had that same nasty aftertaste it's almost like an ear wax taste just nasty on your tongue. The apple pie was it bad but something must be in the water at that Lexington or in the grease or something because that aftertaste they have on their food is absolutely horrible! I'm never going to that Hardee's again!.
Steven K — Google review
We decided to stop in Hardee's drive thru for supper this evening bad decision. We had 2 orders which consisted of the 1st order was a double Frisco, Lg. Fries, a bag meal with ham and cheese, and a chocolate shake. The 2nd meal a double monster burger Lg. Combo. We are the second car in line, we get to the window the cashier is not friendly at all no smile nothing she acted as if it was a bother we were there. Was told to pull forward to wait for our order 23 minutes later she comes out with our first order and just without a word just hands me the bag. I felt maybe I was wrong for just being there. As she walked off I said excuse me is this the second order also oh and my Chocolate shake. She still didn't say a word just rolled her eyes and walked back in , we waited another 6 minutes and she returned with our second order and what should have been a chocolate shake again not saying a word. So I said thank you have a nice day, in which she said you too. The chocolate shake was basically chocolate milk it was melted and whip cream on top had lost its whip. Leading me to believe it had been made when I first ordered. I drove off thinking tell me you hate your job without telling me you hate your job. My very first job was with BNE (Hardee's). With that being said, man what has happened? The management needs training due to wait times there is clearly a lack of management. Maybe some customer service training for the cashier's. The burgers were good but fries and shake was a no go.
Anita B — Google review
On June 15, 2025 @ 10:30a.m. there was a long wait in the drive though as usual, but I am usually okay with that because my food is fresh. Today, the lady who took my order wanted to argue with me when I got to the window and I looked at my receipt realizing they had charged me for a bacon biscuit, I asked her if that was the same as a superbacon biscuit which is what I ordered, she said no, you ordered a bacon biscuit, I said no, I ordered a super bacon biscuit and she stopped off telling the cooks that she need a super bacon biscuit. Then she gave me my order, I looked into the bag to make sure all of my order was there, and nope it wasn't. I mentioned to here that I did not receive Amy husband's breakfast Frisco sandwich, she starts hollering to her people that she needed a prison sandwich and brought it to me. The biscuits were undercooked. They used to have the best biscuits and now it's like eating dough. I WILL NOT SPEND ANOTHER DIME AT THE HARDEE'S AT THE LEXINGTON STORE #1502785! IF YOU WANT RESPECT, YOU GIVE RESPECT.

No customers and yet there were several dirty tables and some trash on a few tables. The floor was sticky. The employees werent that friendly at all. It wasnt fast food for sure. The food wasnt that good. The pictures looked delisous. I was very disappointed in every way. More than likely wont go back.

If you're on the hunt for a delightful dining experience, look no further than Thai House Bistro. This charming eatery offers an array of mouthwatering dishes that are sure to please any palate. Diners rave about the sizzling duck, which not only tastes amazing but is also beautifully presented. The beef pho soup is another highlight, served in generous portions with a variety of fresh add-ins like bean sprouts and jalapeños to customize your bowl just how you like it.
My husband and I just tried this place for the first time and really enjoyed the experience. We ordered their chicken spring rolls appetizer and they were delicious 😋 The sauce they served with it was so good. I ordered the pepper steak and it was packed full of flavor. My hubby tried the Golden Noodles and he said it was tasty. All of it was very filling. The staff provided great service and the atmosphere was very cozy and aesthetically pleasing. We will definitely be returning in the future.

This place was some of the best Thai food I have had in a while. Worth of a detour out of the way if you like Thai food. Authentic spices and kefir room leaves in the Pannang.

Some of the best Thai food I’ve had including large metropolitan locations across the country. Stemming hot, fresh and well flavored food. Service was weak not because they were busy… asked for water 3 times before it was delivered. Never checked on me after I began the meal. Had to waive down waiter for check. Atmosphere is average to below standard. Food is fantastic and I will be back and would nightly recommend it to anyone.

This place was absolutely delicious and the prices are reasonable for the quality. My girlfriend got the sizzling duck and the presentation was very cool, also delicious no complaints there. I got the beef pho soup and it was a very big portion and came with a bunch of additional things to add in such as bean sprouts, basil, lime and jalapeno. We also tried their dumplings which was the weakest part as is it was i believe $7 for 4 dumplings but they were tasty so im not taking away any stars for that. Definitely including this in my take out rotation.

We received coupons in the mail the other day so we decided to come and give it a try we walk in the door and they don't take coupons here well I thought I would go ahead and try the Philly cheesesteak anyway the picture look really good Boy then I get a big disappointment just look at the pictures and you'll see so they don't take coupons and then you can't even get the discounts on the app that they offer needless to say I want home deleted my account and removed the app from my phone and that was the last time that I will ever eat at Subway again I am so glad I didn't get sick from eating that

This place does not take coupons. Even tho my coupons were delivered to my house not even .5 miles away. Subway unfortunately is turning into a JOKE. Hardly want to give toppings. The prices are insane and I wish subway would do better. Thankfully the staff was super nice. A newer younger gentleman was helping me and he was so friendly. The food is good. Sucks that subways is turning into this. Bet they’re the next sub chain out the door. Will be doing it mikes way from now on. At least they actually cook their food. $14 for a sandwich no meal is INSANE.

Crappy place. I wouldn't order anything from here. They won't honor cupons. Cancels your order so then your money is tied up for days. You lose any money you need on the app if they Cancel. Just a waste of time.
M — Google review
The food was what you'd expect but I was blown away when they told me they don't accept the coupons that people get in the mail. First time I've had that happen, wound up spending double what I planned to because of that. It was the only reason I went was because I wanted to use the coupon. Apparently they used to have a sign up that said it but the manager told the workers to take it down. That sign needs to be on display.

Cancelling a doordash order and not providing a refund because a coupon is used is crazy work. Keep losing money guys. That isn't how good business works. And just because you cancel the order doesn't mean doordash will refund the money back. Fix your issues.
Makayla G — Google review
My little family and I came through this area from driving over 3 hours from the beach. We were exhausted and looking for something quick. There were 2 staff members working. A man and woman. Neither of them were friendly! The sandwich I ordered was a rinky dinky 6” turkey with no extra meat that we paid for! As she was putting on the condiments, the size of the tomatoes were fit for a baby and the amount of onions were sparse. That’s fine. I just asked for more. I wanted sauce on it so I asked for “extra mayo and mustard.” She barely tried. I asked for more mayonnaise and mustard. She adds the mayo and not the mustard, so I mention it one more time. It literally killed her to make a childlike sandwich and she was in such a hurry that she literally drowned it more in mayo instead. I politely mentioned that I stated extra mustard. She looks at me as if I was the problem, scrapes on the mayo and then proceeds to toss/refix (in a quick) manor. Not one single “I am sorry” as if it was MY fault for her mishap. There was only me, my husband, my son and then one other lady who walked in right before we left. What was the deal, ma’am?? Do you hate your job and life that bad that you could barely make a 6” sandwich with a few condiments and some sauces on it?? Get a grip! I kept my composure as I always do and I was friendly, but we took our food to the car to eat it because of the attitudes of these people. Not only that… my husband could not have black olives added to the new nachos Subway has right now. The guy who put together his lousy “footlong” nachos told my hubby he couldn’t have black olives put on them, so we ended up with a small cup of them instead. Weird, but okay… If you don’t like your job, don’t work there! It’s not that hard to smile, listen and actually try! Money doesn’t grow on trees and it was $14 without any drinks or chips, so you could kindly think about that for future reference!!!

The owner canceled my order because she didn't want to honor a coupon code that subway offers the rest of the staff are awesome but I wont be coming here no more because the owner is afraid of losing 7 dollars on a sandwich

The sub I ordered was boneless. There wasn't toppings falling out, like I usually have happen.

Nature & Parks
Secluded 100-acre park with hiking trails, river fishing & a monument & cave linked to Daniel Boone.
Best kept secret in Davidson County, North Carolina. The shallow cave is where 15-year-old Daniel Boone and the entire Boone family hid to wait out their first winter and escape attacks from Native Americans. This was in 1751. At times, the mosquitoes can be very bad. Wear mosquito repellent. This river is normally muddy but when it is in drought conditions, it is clear and beautiful. There are a wide variety of mushrooms here. In the spring, the wildflower trail is a must. There’s a beautiful old Cottonwood tree here. It is the third-largest cottonwood tree in the state. The tree has a height of 169 feet, a 16 feet thick trunk, and a canopy that spans 109 feet. I believe the prettiest tree in this park is the large Red Oak tree. Both trees have their own trails and are very large examples of their individual species. Winter is also a great time to visit. Icicles form on the rocks around the caves and the view of the river is awesome from the top of the Winter Overlook Trail.

Lots of rain lately so the river was still a bit high and very muddy but the woods area were nice. I imagine it's super nice when there aren't flood waters. Boone's Cave isn't much of a cave, more a deep overhang, but enough to shelter several people. An ungodly number if steps to get down to it, then I discovered the walking trail that came in from the opposite direction of the stairs and parking lot where my car was... oh well
Katherine W — Google review
Loved the trails alongside the river here. There's a lot of steps (not the ones pictured)leading down to the cave site and some trails could be considered more difficult, but great place to take the family and take in nature.

I hit up Google and found this spot, drove out from about an hour and a half. Was really impressed with the area. A couple of cool close by hikes along with close vicinity to Salisbury restaurants. My friend and I thought this was a great location for a hike and would love to come back
Mikey G — Google review
Super great little park. The signs confused me a bit, but I think it's bc the stone stairs are closed off now so the cave sign is inaccurate. I was able to find my way though and enjoy a nice afternoon exploring. Lots of stairs, lots of tree coverage. Bathrooms in the parking lot were so clean ! 👍🏽👍🏽 Picnic area at the top. Free entry.

My wife and I drove an hour plus with two of our grandkids to this park out of Lexington, NC. Glad we made the trip! Some historical stuff: Boone's Cave Park is a 110-acre county park located near Lexington, North Carolina It was established in 1909 by the Daniel Boone Memorial Association. It is named after American pioneer Daniel Boone. There are a number of places named "Boone's Cave," but the cave in the park is rumored to be the one where Squire and Sarah Jarman Morgan spent their first winter, with the then teenage Daniel Boone upon entering the region in 1751, perhaps to escape Native Americans. There was a total of 25 people in the group, with all 10 of the Boones children, and other family members and neighbors who all left Pennsylvania together. The Boone family and everyone else soon built homes near the cave, located next to the Yadkin River. The Boones eventually settled on the opposite banks of the Yadkin River, which serves as a county line and into what is now Davie County about two miles west of Mocksville, NC. It was a fun time, good maintained, well marked trails. There's a neat cave, remnants of a log cabin, cottonwood tree believed to be over 125 years old the Yadkin River huge great sheltered picnic area, decent restrooms and okay playground. It is well worth checking out if ever in the area! 👍

Great little park to visit. Plenty of walking trails and tent camping areas. Large picnic shelter and Frisbee course. Bathrooms, drink machine and park ranger on site.

Guests rave about the exceptional wine selections, with favorites like Traminette and Smokey Pearl often making it into their shopping bags after tastings. Very nice boutique winery. New tasting room is very spacious and lovely. Cab Franc and Fizzie Lizzie (Rosé) are very good. Beautiful way to spend an afternoon!

I'm not much of a wine drinker but a friend and I visited Curran Alexander Winery, Lexington, N.C. I did a wine tasting and found something I really like. Rita Carr was very helpful, detailing each wine. We were given a tour of the fully restored family home and it is lovely. (It can be rented). We also met the owners who were very gracious.

Curran Alexander Vineyards was THE perfect venue for our rehearsal dinner. Comfortably seated our group of 50 for a sit-down dinner and buffet. And the vineyards were the perfect backdrop for our family photos. Rita and Holly were very hospitable and helped to make it such a memorable event. The wine is excellent. We will be back!

Nothing short of perfect for our afternoon of wine tasting. One of, if not the best, dry red wine I’ve had in North Carolina! Don’t skip this place, make it your first stop. It’s now one of my favorites.
Loriann M — Google review
We could not have imagined a more beautiful or welcoming place for our daughter's special day than Curran Alexander Vineyards. The setting is breathtaking-rolling vines, open skies, and that peaceful atmosphere that makes you feel like time slows down just for you. But what truly made our experience unforgettable was the kindness and hospitality of Allston Stubbs. From the very first conversation, Allston made us feel like family. He went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect, offering thoughtful suggestions, accommodating our needs, and always greeting us with genuine warmth. His professionalism paired with his gracious spirit made the entire process smooth and stress-free. It’s rare to find a venue that is equally stunning and run by people who genuinely care about your day as much as you do. Curran Alexander Vineyards, with Allston’s personal touch, is exactly that. We will treasure the memories made here for a lifetime.

We stopped into Curran Alexander Vineyards last week on our way home. We've been there before. I remember liking their wines but not being blown away. Well, hold the presses!! Rita gave us spectacular service and we were indeed BLOWN AWAY! We were planning on bringing home 2 bottles but ended up getting 7!!! The value is excellent! Our most expensive bottle was $26. 2 bottles of the 2024 Yadkin Valley Viognier which was delicious, 2 bottles of the Rose (made from 100% Cab Sauv) which shocked me with the flavors & depth (I drink 90% reds usually), 1 bottle of the 2022 Yadkin Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (which we will hold for 4-5 years), 1 bottle of the 2021 Yadkin Valley Cabernet Franc and 1 bottle of the 2022 Yadkin Valley Meritage. I liked the Southern Tour blend and the Smokey Pearl blend, both were similar to the Meritage) but a little sweeter than I usually drink. I highly recommend a visit to Curran Alexander Vineyards for a delicious tasting and if you can get Rita, who is VERY knowledgeable about the wines, the better but I'm sure all the staff is great.

Great family run winery in a beautiful setting. I highly recommend the tasting which gets you taste most of their wines. The host thee really knew the wines too. The whites and red were excellent and the red fully developed. I highly recommend checking this one out when in the area and it’s worth a detour as well.

The vineyard, Native Vines Winery, offers a fantastic experience with its wonderful tasting menu and an impressive selection of wines. Visitors are guaranteed to find a wine they enjoy as the staff is accommodating and knowledgeable. The serene patio provides a beautiful setting for savoring a glass of wine. Additionally, this winery holds the distinction of being the first Native American owned winery, which adds to its uniqueness.
My friend Magan and I had a great time visiting you today! Beautiful location, fantastic wines, and Angelique at the counter was so funny, cool, and just overall a great conversationalist! We will definitely be back soon! Also, there is an absolutely gorgeous horse at the property, so we stopped to take pictures of him on the way out, and he came over to us to say "hay" lol! :)

My friend and I had an amazing time at Native Vines. The owners are so kind and we even got to pet their horse! I bought their raspberry tea wine and their blackberry wine which are both absolutely delicious!

Visited during a trip to Lexington, did the sweet wine tasting and I loved every single one! Learned that it was the first Native American owned winery which is a pretty awesome fact. Stayed a bit and drank a bottle on the patio, so beautiful and relaxing. The staff is very friendly and informative. So glad they ship to MD!
Chelsey D — Google review
Native Vines has long been one of my favorite wineries (especially in NC). Sheet I developed a grape allergy, they moved to the top of the list because they always have at least 3-4 grape-less fruit wines, plus all our their wines are low sulfate. And absolutely delicious! Their green tea & raspberry tea (white tea) wines are long favorites, as they remind me of Arizona Green Teas! Delicious nostalgia for those who know! Their location is also very cute, with a lot of beautiful landscaping on the drive in and alongside the winery bar! If you get a chance to swing by Native Vines Winery for a 6-flight tasting or glass or two, definitely don't pass it up! The owners regularly are behind the bar, but their entire staff are great! You won't regret it!

Mixed opinions about this park. Love the playground and equipment for the kids. Love that the park is almost always quiet. I don't like the feeling I get that I should probably know somebody in the neighborhood if I am going to be there. Not saying its a bad neighborhood because I don't know. We never had an issue there. I am just saying it feels like something could go horribly wrong real quick over there.

Fast food restaurant
Arby's is a popular fast-food chain celebrated for its delicious roast beef sandwiches, alongside a variety of hot and cold sandwich options, crispy fries, and delightful shakes. My recent visit was quite an experience! The staff member at the drive-thru was exceptionally polite, making the ordering process smooth despite a minor hiccup with my cheese sticks being forgotten.
Well I just left from there 15 mins ago. The guy on speaker and same guy at window was very polite. I had to be pulled which was okay. Forgot cheese sticks that was okay. My main problem is the other crew in there. I'm not trying g to be rude but there was a lady Asian and a guy. Fussing back and forth yelling really really loud and cussing. I honestly thought a fight was about to break out. I don't know what it's over don't care but my children walk in on that mess. And I made them go back to the car because of the language. I told the man to chill out telling and cussing there are kids in here which another group of ppl came in with kids. The man try to play me dumb I just shook my head and left. The service because I was in drive thru great came inside to get rest of my food the customer service part degrading from the language this is not not customer value/ outlook and restaurant standards and code of conduct. Please talk to them because they are the core of the restaurant. They have to have standards company policy and name Into effect. Thank you

When you haven't been to a restaurant in years and you finally go, and the order is awful. No lettuce no tomato no crunchy onion straws that I added, just plain chicken on a bun. Come on. Last time, what a waste. I was the only customer there, too, and they still can't make a simple single sandwich correctly.
Megan M — Google review
Ok food, atmosphere was atrocious. Was super smoky. I thought something was on fire. Floor was beyond sticky. My shoes will require cleaning. Counter tops covered in trash and soda. Soda machine looked like something was growing in bottom tray. Condiments were empty.
Brady S — Google review
This location is terrible. Pulled into the parking lot and noticed that every single one of the employees staring out the windows in the dining room and were clearly goofing off since most of their business is drive thru. Ordered my food was told to pull around to the front and they’ll bring it out. I watched a couple go inside, order food and come out and I’m still waiting. Watched the lady go back in to get something that was missed in their order. Also several cars I and out of the drive thru and I’m still waiting. Finally an Asian women came to check with me and took my receipt inside. Came back out with my food about 5 minutes later and they still didn’t get it right and I had to go inside to get my cheese sticks. It really bothers the employees to have to work and do a job here. They’re more focused on hanging out in the dining room goofing around. Do better! Get better management in there and pay them! Or shut this place down because the local place across the street clearly has all the business for a reason. By the way, your new cheese steak is mediocre and not hitting on a much

Cute Lil guy nice who took order. It took a while because they forgot to put down poppers, BUT.... he did add extra for the wait. Very sweet. The main problem was the cleanliness..The windows and window sills, plus the tables were nasty, dirty, greasy and tons of flies everywhere..very disgusting and the problem should fixed immediately if anyone wants to eat inside. We had to leave because of the nastiness..couldn't stand to eat there by any means. It should be reported ASAP.

La Carreta is a charming eatery that brings the vibrant flavors of homestyle Cuban cuisine to life. Known for its classic dishes like ropa vieja and picadillo, this local gem offers a delightful dining experience. While the service can sometimes be hit or miss, with occasional delays in drink refills, the friendly staff often makes up for it with their warm hospitality. Diners rave about the delicious food options available, from mouthwatering steak fajitas to tamales served with zesty green sauce.
This is my go-to Mexican restaurant in Lexington. Arturo, Alejandro, David and Miguel, ( The manager, ) are the best! The service is always friendly and prompt, The food is amazing. I got the steak fajitas. The portions are huge and always cooked to perfection! I'm never disappointed when I come here. Kudos to La Carreta, friendly and efficient staff, excellent food. Overall. A great place to eat!

it's crazy that there's no refill on the horchata when it's a watered down drink and $4.50 each but yet softdrinks have free refills and $7.50 for a bowl of cheese dip and the service wasn't good i had to wait several times to get our waitress and even waited at the register while the guy kept seating people and doing other things instead of working the register. apparently they don't trust other employees to sit people while he works the register.

This place stays packed. But the workers are on it! They are the best Mexican restaurant in Lexington. Five stars all the way around and always worth a small wait time. 🫶.
A L — Google review
The food is amazing. Let me be clear we are not ones to make changes to orders, ask for a lot of things and we typically tip 25% range. The service is overall absolutely horrible. They walk away as you ask for things, and may or may not accommodate your request. The young lady at desk is sweet and very nice, but the remaining service staff needs training on how to be courteous when interacting with guests. Every time we go the staff acts they are in a hurry and we never feel welcomed...its like we are a chore to simply place the order. They turn their backs and look around while you place your order...it's weird how dismissive they are. There are exceptions to the staffing...there are a few team members that are good. However, overall I feel like they could care less if we spend our money at their establishment. It's unfortunate because the food is really good.
Myra M — Google review
Asked over and over if the corn tortillas were made fresh or store bought, they said that they make them fresh everyday. Got home with my order, a chicken burrito and 3 tacos... chicken inedible, dry and chewy, even the vegetables were still raw.. Taco shells were walmart bought, so Arturo lied. We live about 45 minutes from store, but I'm still taking this bad food back.. he kept receipt so we will see what he does tomorrow.
Cheri G — Google review
We actually like this place. They have the best hot salsa. Service is usually sub what you want…ie waiting for a drink refill, etc. always. Lunch, dinner, Tuesday, Saturday it doesn’t matter. Service is sub par. Food is inconsistent. I have had carnitas there that were to die for and then I had them tonight and they sucked. Felt like I should have went somewhere else. Local place that will make it because of the lack of other choices.

Barbecue restaurant
If you're looking for a true taste of barbecue culture, TarHeel Q BBQ is a must-visit spot in Lexington, known as the Pig City. Just a short drive from downtown, this local gem offers a cozy atmosphere where you can self-seat and enjoy friendly service. The menu features breakfast and lunch/dinner options with daily specials highlighted on the wall. During my visit, I tried the half-and-half barbecue plate that came with two sides.
Meeting up with some old friends, we opted to head here for dinner and it was a brilliant choice. Lexington is a city very well known for barbecue, The Pig City. Tarheel Q is about 7 miles west of downtown so it's mostly locals dining here. Self-seating but warmly greeted and offered drinks, they are a Pepsi place and they also have sweet/Northern tea. Breakfast and lunch/dinner menus on the table and specials posted on the wall. I got the barbecue half-and-half plate which came with two sides. Chopped pork and a quarter barbecue chicken (I chose dark meat) with fries and potato salad plus hush puppies. It didn't take long to be plated up and brought out. Served hot, the pork was delicious. Moist, flavorful and not needing any sauce to bring out the flavor. Chicken was nicely done and came apart easily. Crinkle cut fries were crisp and hot. Potato salad was creamy. Huge portions, I could eat barely half of my plate. And then our waitress asked if we had saved room for dessert. Ha! Great service, great food, five stars!
Bruce K — Google review
I personally didn’t like the food; I only ate about 10% of my meal. BBQ Chicken and pork tasted very dry to me. However, the staff was friendly, the atmosphere was cozy and family friendly, and service was very quick from order-to-table. The prices were very reasonable for the portion size served; dinner for 1 person (me) was $20 after tip and, if I had liked the food, I would have had plenty to take home. Check-out was very slow at 6:30 PM due to a high volume of phone callers placing orders, but at that point, a full belly of food is worth a sit at the counter while waiting.

Their food is amazing! You have to go here. It's definitely a local barbecue diner. We were not disappointed. We have already gone back and it is 20 miles out of the way! Also the weight staff we had a young girl I forgot her name though unfortunately was very helpful and our tea glasses were never empty. **Update went in to pick up some lunch, and the waitresses name is Autumn. Awesome service thank you Autumn.

My mom was kind enough to pick up a chicken biscuit for my son and myself this morning and when she arrived home with them, they were so scorched and tough and burnt that they are inedible and I’m sure they were probably close to five dollars apiece. Why anyone working there would put these pieces of chicken on a biscuit and sell them is beyond me and the biscuit top on one was so hard you could knock someone out with it. Is it really that hard to do a bit better?

First time here. Coarse chopped Pork, I had hoped I would get some brown, but didn't. The meat was smoked well and very tender and moist I was a little disappointed in the dip; it needed more tang to it. The BBQ Slaw, aka Red Slaw was good. The Hush Puppies were good, but not outstanding though. French Fries, I like fries but, I'll bypass if I make it back. Banana Pudding is my favorite of deserts. Where were the Nilla wafers? Ok it was good but room for improvement.

BBQ was moist and tasty. It had the right amount of smoky flavor in my opinion. I had a chopped plate with red slaw (delicious), seasoned fries, and baked beans. Plentiful portions, we're very reasonably priced.

Super kind. They make sure you have everything you need. I wasn't sure about Coke zero or Pepsi zero and they offered me a sample before I purchased. Total class, thank you for such great customer service

You can see the cooks that are young boys moving very slow with no since If urgency. You can here waitresses asking them can move a little faster. Waitresses telling them we have people that's been waiting a long time. My order arrives without the Irder complete. These young cooks need supervision.
