The Crossroads Mall

4.1
(5073)
Shopping mall
The Crossroads Mall, located at 6650 S Westnedge Ave, offers a multi-level shopping experience with a variety of brand-name chain stores and unique shops including a CBD store. Visitors can also enjoy dining options in the food court. The mall provides an urban convenience amidst scenic natural beauty, making it perfect for an action-packed or leisurely evening.
If I had to guess I'd say this mall is about 60% occupied as there are many empty storefronts. There are also only 2 places left to get food, China Wok is the only tennant in the food court and then Auntie Anne's is located within the mall shopping area. There are name brand stores along with a bunch of local stores trying to be successful. The mall was clean and made for a nice walk.
Alex B — Google review
This mall has gone downhill a LOT. The owners (who are Kohan Retail Investment Group, known for letting malls rot to their deaths, not paying utilities, taxes etc.) don't care about the mall at all, and they are clearly not trying to bring in new stores into the mall. The food court only has a chinese restaurant.. the rest of the mall is very hit or miss. The mall does not have as many national retailers as it once had.. they all either closed or moved somewhere else. The mall has some maintenance issues, and the mall has stopped putting paper towels in the restrooms... you might aswell just go to Grand Rapids as those 2-3 malls actually have stores, and the owners at those malls actually care... wouldn't be surprised if the next time I visited another few store would be closed... :/
Noname — Google review
July 2024 - Wow! I'm impressed! We came to the mall to look around and were very pleasantly surprised how many stores are now open! It's wonderful! Last year I thought it was on its last legs, but now it's great. It's certainly not full - but there's tons of stores there, and open, and a lot of foot traffic - especially since today it's beautiful outside and it's the middle of the week. If you haven't stopped by for a while, please check it out. July 2023 - This used to be the place to go to shop and hang out. The pandemic made a lot of stores and restaurants permanently close which is a big shame. I hope it recovers.

Nice mall. It’s a good place to walk. It’s very clean. It has plenty of shoe stores. Plenty of parking but the lot needs to be resurfaced. Unfortunately, many spots in the mall aren’t occupied. It would be nice to see developers take some of the free space and turn it into condos etc… Other malls have done this. Portage might be a good market for that. The hours of the Mall are only 11 to 6.
Patrick B — Google review
Sadly this mall seems to have leaned into the downward spiral. At least they are fixing the road so that the mall is at least approachable again. Reminds me of the Woodland Mall in the time when Rivertown opened. They increased security to curb their issues and had a remodel that has done well for their vibrancy.
Missheru — Google review
Pulled in to enjoy our Jersey Mike's dinner and go do some needed shopping but as we are sitting here we see a man by a light pole next to the driver's training cones... he was shooting up with a needle, mind you there's a man and young person there trying to stay busy but how discussing of no one to call the Police Department, we would have but we just called them as we seen a drug deal go down on Drake at Lowe's... Kalamazoo is a mess and this Mall parking lot is horrible...
Luttrell F — Google review
A Deeply Unbiased and Totally Not Exaggerated Review of the Crossroads Mall First, a moment of silence for the old ring road. For years, the Crossroads Mall parking lot was less a place to park and more a high-stakes, off-road adventure through a landscape of lunar craters. The pavement is now shockingly smooth. It’s a bit jarring, to be honest. It almost feels… too easy. The Crossroads Mall is shockingly tranquil. The serene atmosphere is only broken by the mallwalkers, a dedicated pack circling the concourse with a feverish intensity that makes them appear like rabid dogs on a mission. You can find your inner peace, but be prepared for a sudden, aggressive pass by a gentleman in a tracksuit. This is the kind of place where you could roll a bowling ball down the main concourse and probably only hit a particularly brave mannequin—assuming you don't get taken out by a mallwalker first. The store selection is a breathtakingly focused masterpiece of retail: shoes, clothes, and jewelry. With no bar in sight, you can be sure that any monumental decision—like that high-stakes engagement ring or a spontaneous tattoo from the lone parlor—will be made with perfectly sober judgment. The parlor stands as a solitary beacon of rebellion, offering a permanent reminder of your visit, all without the aid of a single drink. The food court is a culinary beacon in a sea of retail tranquility. I was impressed by the sheer number of options: one. Oh, sure, a few people were eating, but they were all clustered around the single Chinese restaurant, drawn to the power of a singular culinary decision. It's a bold statement in a world of endless choices. In summary, the Crossroads Mall isn’t just a shopping center; it's a social experiment in peaceful coexistence and a monument to the power of a really, really good echo.
Max C — Google review
One of the few indoor malls left, although there is only a pretzel stand, Cinnabon, and Chinese restaurant (with a limited menu) available for food. Was impressed with the large amount of teen-focused clothing stores (American Eagle, H&M, Francesca’s, Dry Goods) but other than that, it offered nothing else. Will not return. Anchor store reeked of mold.

Cafe
Bubble tea store
Chocolate shop
Chocolatea is a charming tea and coffee shop that has been serving its community since 2008. The shop offers an extensive selection of over 250 different teas, including loose leaf blends, Boba tea, and flavorful tea lattes. In addition to their impressive tea collection, Chocolatea also serves unique hot chocolate flavors like White Banana Foster and Turmeric Chai Latte. Their locally made baked goods include vegan and gluten-free options, making it a great spot for those with dietary restrictions.
I write this from inside a tea shop in the new city that I live in. Chocolatea is the best tea and chocolate shop I have been to. For the two years I lived in Pfizer, this was my favorite place to be. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, the teas were all so fun to try, the chocolates were delicious, and the atmosphere was so comfortable and cozy. Of all the places I miss in Portage, Chocolatea is at the top. If you are at all interested in tea or chocolate, this is a must-visit. And the sister shop nearby with exotic oils and vinegars is a joy too.

Warming clean environment. I had the chai tea very good. Service was very friendly and their deserts looked delicious and the one I got was very good the chocolate chip cookie dough brownie. Wide variety of loose tea you can buy as well. Recommend coming here if you’re a tea lover or have a sweet tooth.

Fun place to go for girl time. Friendly staff, yummy drinks and pastries. We’ll be back for more macaroons, they’re the best around!

I have been going to Chocolatea for about a year now. In the last 6 months, I have been in there nearly daily. I used to just order I Never Promised You, until it became my name. Kyra convinced me to try every other Tea Latte. Upon my arrival earlier this week, Kyra asked me to grab a few jars off the shelf, as she had a surprise drink in mind, and kept aware of my allergy of artificial cinnamon without needing mention. She made me a Paris tea, with rose petals, rose syrup, and amaretto syrup. This was GENUINELY the best drink I have ever had in my entire life, and my entire time going there. Today I tested her with a different tea blend, and asked her to surprise me again, and she made another masterpiece. You have an amazing chef there, and that is just ONE of MANY amazing people who know how to put a smile on my face. This is my favorite place in Michigan by far. ☕️🍵🍫

First time in this cute tea shop. They are very welcoming and accommodating for my friend with allergies. I had the Purple Reign tea cold with my first ever macaroons. I enjoyed the shops personality and how it nestled into nature around it. I will be going back again.

An absolutely amazing selection of teas and amazing service! They were out of a particular loose leaf tea that I wanted to take home but the cashier gave me a sample of a similar tea for free. I highly recommend this place to everyone

Celery Flats Historic Area

Park
Historical place
Celery Flats Historic Area is a part of the expansive Portage Creek Bicentennial Park, offering two distinct settings. The north side features the Celery Flats Pavilion with open-air seating, picnic tables, restrooms, and an air station. On the south side of Garden Lane lies the Celery Flats Historical Area with relocated and restored buildings. During winter, the area is adorned with Christmas decorations along its trail.
A beautiful park with historic buildings and a pond and a great place for fall graduation and family pictures! You can still use the walking trails and they are working on clean up. The bathrooms are clean, and they have a great picnic area.

Most trails in Michigan are beautiful! This one certainly doesn't disappoint! Think my Harvey liked it more than me though!
Nick B — Google review
Wonderful place to walk animals. This park has 24 hour surveillance cameras on the trail so it seems safe, multiple benches along the trail, trash cans and dog bags. The paved trail is comfortable and the park is very clean. There’s a parking lot that can fit many cars, a pavilion sitting area with a drinking fountain and restrooms about 20 ft from the parking lot.

Really cute park with live music and food trucks for Friday at the Flats at Ramona Park. We had some snacks from the trucks and listened to some original live music. It was a very laid back and pleasant evening.

We love riding our bikes here! Nice place to have a picnic or take a break from enjoying the nearby trails. There are plenty of tables and chairs and the bathrooms are very clean and well kept. Lots of events going on throughout the year with live music, movies, and food trucks. We love going to Fridays at the Flats!

Portage Creek Bicentennial Park is a 200-acre linear park featuring multi-use trails, picnic areas, playgrounds, and fishing spots. The park offers a 3.5-mile recreational paved trail that is part of the Portage Park Trail System, providing opportunities for hiking and biking along scenic Portage Creek. Visitors can also enjoy kayaking and picnicking at the nearby West Lake Nature Preserve.
A nice park system connecting various parks in the area. Decent paths as my husband is legally blind and had no problems walking it. We were visiting the area and the weather was fantastic. Lots of bikes on the path. Went early afternoon and walked about 5 miles.

This is a fabulous place to walk. Take the bridge and go towards Kilgore! Update: so, this summer the city repaved quite a bit of the path towards celery flats. It was already a decent place to skate but buttery smooth new flat asphalt is lovely.

Paved multiuse trails for strolling, walking, jogging, running, skating, riding, sury or surying. Also sitting or resting on one of the many benches along the trail. Canoeing and kayaking adjacent to the trail in the river. Drinking fountains inoperable at this time...but public restrooms are operating! Bird sanctuary areas located on the trail along with monarch waystations. Trains also may available for viewing.

Great paved trails! Newer bathrooms. Air hoses for filling your bike tires. Plenty of benches if you need a rest. Lots of shade.

Picturesque and well kept bike trail (about 8 miles) from Lovers' Lane to Centre Avenue in Portage, MI. Railway on one side and the creek on the other. A couple of nice bridges and underpasses (under the I94). It was good to see a lot of people out on the first sunny weekend of March 2020.

The Air Zoo Aerospace & Science Museum is a state-of-the-art facility that offers a unique and educational experience for the whole family. Located between Detroit and Chicago, it provides hands-on fun and limitless opportunities to learn about science and aeronautics. The museum features rare aircraft, full-motion flight simulators, indoor rides, 4D theaters, and immersive exhibits.
This was a cute place my husband and I decided to stop by at. We were on our way home from visiting Binder Park Zoo and wanted to keep the day going exploring. It was really cool getting to see all of the different aircrafts. They also had a few rides for the kids as well as a space / future section that was pretty neat. We had fun and would say the $18 per ticket for adults was worth it. They also have a cool gift shop and free shuttle service as well as a cafe to get some food and free parking.
Briseida R — Google review
Amazing place to visit in Kalamazoo. Great for young ones and kids , they enjoy a lot. Big collection of warplanes, helicopters and lots of rides inside. You can ride on them as many times as you like. Ticket also includes the visit to air zoo flight discovery center, 2 mins drive or around 10 minutes walk. There are shuttles too. Ticket is for whole day, so you can go out and enter anytime.

Awesome place to visit!!! The tour guide was very knowledgeable. Lots of walking so wear good gym shoes. This place isn't just for little kids but everyone of all ages. I have to say that my favorite exhibit was The Nighthawk, truly amazing and you don't realize how big it actually is in person. The food was really good at the Cafe and they have a variety of things to eat. The gift shop had a lot of really neat stuff to buy and of course I bought a bumper sticker. I really enjoyed my time here and would definitely come back again.
Eclipse M — Google review
Great experience. Clean, interesting, well organized… Very much worth doing the membership as well not only to use it here, but also because of partnership with many other science, museums in the country. They have a few rides for smaller kids to keep them entertained as well. And a flight simulator for older kids and adult adults.
Marcos F — Google review
Give yourself about 3-4 hours here. 2 wouldn’t have been enough, but after 3 we headed back through for a second round. Lots of airplanes to see but thats NOT all! They have several indoor amusement park rides and all rides are included in the ticket price. This was a hit with my kids! My baby could ride a few in seat beside me too. Several hands on stations to see and manipulate which was fun. Great time overall. They had plenty of air flight simulators which were very fun and made a small wait, sometimes no wait, ride. The murals were beautiful too!
Amanda G — Google review
I love taking the kiddo here. She’s two years old and loves the toddler tarmac! We always have such a great time when we come here, we play at the toddle tarmac, ride the Ferris wheel, and look at all of the planes. Sometimes they have fun events or activities here. They used to having a changing table in the toddler area but had the bright idea to remove it. You would think there would be a changing station in the closest bathroom, but for women it is not; you have to go to the front of the building. I am also unsure of if the toys get sanitized at all.
S S — Google review
A museum for aviation enthusiasts & kids. This science center boasts lots of great aircraft, science & fun rides for families. There’s a “toddler hanger” an area for little ones to play with all sorts of aviation themed toys. It has a breastfeeding nook & a baby play area. My children ages 12, 9, 5 & 2 really enjoyed everything at this center. Highly recommend for the whole family.
Aishah E — Google review
If you’re a fan of aviation, plan(e) a trip here!!!! You WILL NOT be disappointed!! My kiddo was absolutely blown away. The very first thing we seen when we got into the main hanger was his favorite aircraft!!! (SR-71 Blackbird) So much history here and so many planes. I encourage you to make sure and read the stories for each plane as some of them will absolutely surprise you!! Planning our second trip back now 🙂 Update: We returned!!! Gonna need a third trip!!!! Side note: The 71 Blackbird they have (SR-71B #831) is the training model. I believe two were ever made and that they have the only one left in existence!!

Jac's Cekola's Pizza in Portage is a vibrant sports bar that perfectly blends American cuisine with a cozy atmosphere. Known for its delicious thin-crust pizza and mouthwatering wings, this spot is ideal for gatherings, especially during big events like the national championship hockey tournament. With ample seating and several TVs, it’s perfect for watching games while enjoying craft drafts. The attentive and friendly service enhances the experience, making it a favorite among locals and visitors alike.
Let me. Tell you about this place. We were there last week for the national championship hockey tournament for USA. Hockey, we were team Wyoming They made a buffet spread for us. And I will tell you. Those are some of the best wings and salad. I have ever had in my life and being the executive chef. I know my food. The service was just tapped here. The food was absolutely mouth watering and amazing. I can't say enough. Good things about this place.

Fun atmosphere with games for kids, a pool table, and tv’s. Big beer selection. The food the was subpar. Ordered the special and essentially got a buffalo chicken nugget sandwich with a subpar basic cheeseburger. The pulled pork was decent. I’d come back for the beer and sports, but not the food.

Jac's is a great bar and restaurant in Portage. Service is attentive and friendly. Large place with plenty of room for big groups. We like the food, the pretzel bites and pizza went over well with our group. Only complaint is they close at midnight during the week but this seems to be a sad trend everywhere in Kalamazoo/Portage. Jac's is our go to spot in Portage when we are in town!

One of, if not the worst subways I have ever been to. I've been here a few times and have gotten mediocre quality and service each time, however, my most recent visit will certainly be my last. My last experience consisted of one worker taking care of two gentlemen in front of me. She cashed one gentleman out with gloves on, touching paper currency, and then continued to make a sandwich for the next gentleman with those same gloves on, absolutely appalling! After seeing that I decided to just leave and never come back. In summation, this restaurant needs to be managed far better than it is, obviously these workers need leadership and training and I'd take a shot in the dark to assume they are getting neither. Do not go to this subway, you will be severely disappointed and like a previous reviewer, you may find yourself with a case of food poisoning.
Matt — Google review
Very bad experience at this subway today. Not usually terrible, but it took me 30mins to get a sub. Would have went to a different place in the mall for food, but he started my sandwich, then made 6 sandwiches all at the same time (people that weren't even together).
Emily S — Google review
It is exactly the same as every other Subway, they make and serve sandwiches. The difference is the attitude of the employees, fortunately I have had the experience of above average employees that create above average sandwiches. This particular Subway has fantastic employees that create awesome sandwiches.
Philip B — Google review
If I could give negative stars I would. When I was a temp worker in another section of the mall, I had the displeasure of eating there more then once. NEVER should there be HALF FROZEN chicken ever sold to a customer. Every time I ate here I would get sick almost immediately afterwards. Don't risk your health, stay clear of this subway. I have never been to such a sketchy Subway as this one. P.S They never even replied to me about the Frozen chicken, so clearly that didn't see any issue in it.
Elaine R — Google review
Ive just seen that they close at 9:00 pm. We went on Tuesday night. We stood there for 15 minutes. There is some lady inside, we could hear voices. After calling many times, she showedup near the counter. We were there at 8:00 pm. She said they were CLOSED. First, if she is tired too, she cant make us wait. She should have let us know the moment we came in. We would have walked away. Second, if the staff is so tired, pls genuinely close at 8:00pm. Dont fool us by posting till 9:00 pm as we are people stopping by coming from long distance to grab some food.
Priya — Google review
I've heard bad things about this subway, but I decided to get it for lunch. I watched the worker drop the glove he was about to put on on the floor, and instead of grabbing a new one, he picked it up and still put it on. I told him never mind and left.
K G — Google review
My god, getting toppings is like pulling teeth, asked for extra olives and they literally plopped 2 more on there for like another. 60 cents or something ooh wow thanks. I would have to ask for double extra plus some more olives and pay another 10 dollars just to get an actual handful of olives. Now I remember why I stopped going to Subway,,, bye bye

Los Amigos Mexican Restaurant is a delightful spot that captures the essence of traditional Mexican cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. With an array of vegetarian options, lunch specials, and combination plates, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Diners rave about the nachos topped with chicken and the shrimp fish platter, which allows for creative taco-making. The fajita-style taco salad served in a crispy tortilla bowl is another favorite among patrons.
Always fantastic food and service. The fajita taco salad is my go to, although on the off times I do order the chimichangas. Margaritas are always incredible and they do have a full bar on top of that.

Ive been to this location multiple times before. For some reason they believe this one to be the *best out of multiple locations in the area. I can attest to the carnitas being especially good here. This time I got steak burritos, which weren't bad. I still like the carnitas. We arrived between the lunch and dinner service and we're basically the only patrons. We took our time ordering, but they came back to check on our refills of drinks, chips and salsa. He got the basic nachos which had plenty of shredded chicken and more than he could eat. My burrito was good, mostly meat and cheese though. The rice and beans are just ok.

First off, they don't have AC and keep the doors open. Had flys buzzing around while we were eating. brought us chips and salsa, but the bowls for the salsa were dirty, so we didn't try them. The soda tasted very syrupy. The main corse was very good. I have no complaints on that. Our server was very nice.

I was trying to order a cheese, beef, and jalapeno quesadilla and the waiter simply couldn’t understand I was trying to say I tried to explain for a few minutes and gave up. The waiter barely knew English. Also they don’t know how to make a proper quesadilla they gave me 5% cheese and 95% beef. Horrible service horrible food. I was really disappointed about this:(

Timing matters. The first one I would have given 4 stars. The second one a 1. I had the burrito California for lunch, it was phenomenal. I went back two days later and ordered around 8pm Tuesday evening. I had to go in because the phone kept ringing between 7-7:45. They were not that busy when I got there but they may have been during the time I tried calling. I ordered the same thing and just waited there. It was pretty quick. I am not sure if they used the meat that was sitting there all day or afternoon but the steak I had this time was burnt and dry. I ate half of it. A bit disappointed considering it was $17.99. If it wasn't so late I would have returned it.

Was hoping for more authentic Mexican food. Some music would have been nice. We visited for dinner, maybe lunch would be better. Manager was very helpful and kind.

Yummy! My son had gotten the nachos with chicken and he loved it!! My friend got shrimp fish platter to make her own taco thing I got the taco salad fajita style came in side of a crisp wa tortilla bowl!!! And you get served fresh (at least they tasted damn near fresh) chips with the salsa!! Mind you I could have DRANK the salsa it was so good. It wasn't to chunky and it had a small kick to it but not to bad to burn. Will go again! Update... Still go back and still never disappointed!!!!! Sooooo good. Well worth your money!!

Happen to stumble on this place on Labor Day because of sign. Packed but it ran like a well oiled machine. Raised French toast was wonderful. Everything we we had was great. Maddie was our server and even busy she was attentive. We didn’t have wait to be seated either. Wish lived closer or was one in Indiana. It a family owned place,

We drove up here for breakfast, and I ended up ordering a coffee and omelette. Plenty of portions and the food was pretty good. Great service as well. The coffee came with a pitcher and could refill it at my convenience. Will come again if I'm in the area.

My father and I went here waiting for his glasses to ge made at Eyemart Express. We came here to have breakfast and it was delicious. I had a farmer's omelete with delicious creamy country gravy smothered on top. And my father had a combo of some sort. 2 eggs. Pancake, meat of choice and he loved it so much. The waitress we had bless her soul. She was so nice. I dont know her name but the day we went she was in a cute hocus pocus sweater and jeans. With her hair pulled back. She was the nicest and attentive. P.s. antique kitchen is the perfect name for this place

We are from Tennessee, and this place made us feel at home! The service was fantastic and the food was made as perfect as any southern diner I've ever been in. We took my sister's family the next day so we could share our experiences. We will definitely return the next time we are in town!!

It’s the service for me! Not only is the best service you’ll get ANYWHERE, the food was fresh and exceptional! The waitress Karol was so freaking hospitable and on point! Which only heightened the already phenomenal service! Shout out to whoever was cooking the food! We ordered our food and it came back within 5 mins, piping hot and delicious! The patrons of the establishment added to the southern down home charm of the place. All around this was a great find!!!

First visit, we headed here because they were open when most others weren't on Labor Day. Comfortable atmosphere, friendly and prompt service, fair pricing, and a decent amount of variety on the menu. Simply put, everything was enjoyable. We will visit again.
