Cul's Courthouse Grille is a charming eatery nestled in a historic building right off the main road in Charles City, making it an ideal stop for travelers and cyclists alike. With its welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff, this local gem offers delicious home-cooked meals that cater to all tastes. Families can unwind here, enjoying favorites like chicken tenders and wings while soaking up the quaint surroundings. The restaurant also features outdoor seating and a spacious covered area perfect for live music events.
Love the old building this cozy restaurant is located in. All the employees are friendly and you feel like you're dining with a bunch of friends. They even had someone singing and playing a guitar! It also has a really cool setup outside. There's a stage and tables outdoors. We went for lunch with a jeep group. I really want to go back for dinner, then hopefully listen to some music outdoors.

Nice little restaurant not too far off the Capitol Trail. Establishment is easy to get to, has plenty of parking, and a decent amount t of indoor/outdoor seating. Staff is attentive and friendly. Food is good, however burgers seem to be a little more on the overcooked side.

Great little place off the capital Trail. Very warm and inviting, usually there are some musicians typically playing out on the back patio when we have gone there. The waitress/bartender we had was very energetic and entertaining. Great bloody Mary’s!

Excellent menu with homemade items and perfect stop for cyclists on the cap trail

Great historical local place to enjoy a home cooked country meal! The kids were out of school for holiday and R&R (yeah R&R) and at the last minute we selected this place to ‘chill’ at. Well - to our surprise- it was a perfectly quaint spot! The atmosphere was perfect - the welcome, the parking, the FOOD, the STAFF and the owners! What a great local place to visit anytime. I had the oysters, my grands; one had chicken tenders and the other had wings. They enjoyed their meals! Thats saying a lot because my little one is a picky eater - she apologetically said the mac ‘n cheese was better than mine! I wasn’t offended at all after I tasted hers (lol - I had to sneak it because she guarded it). Anyway, perfect local place and the historical building/decor and scenery makes it that much more special!

Stopped by Culs Courthouse Grille while biking the Virginia Capital Trail from Richmond to Williamsburg with my group. This spot is one of only two places to eat directly on the trail, the other being Indian Fields Tavern (which we visited on the way back next day). The food was good for refueling, with plenty of options to satisfy those carb cravings. The atmosphere is laid-back, and the service was welcoming. While it may not be a standout, it’s definitely a convenient and reliable option if you’re looking for a break along the way.

I really enjoyed our first visit to this place. The onion rings were excellent, batter light and crispy. My club sandwich was good. The fries were well seasoned and quite yummy. I recommend this place. It's historic, so that adds to its charm. I'm looking forward to returning.

A quaint historic building conveniently located off the main road through Charles City across from the municipal building. Located near the Capital City bike trail with easy parking for bikes. There is a large covered area behind the parking lot perfect for live music. The atmosphere is enjoyable and service was good. The chicken sandwiches we had were tasty. The seasoned fries were excellent. There is also outside seating available.

Tucked away in the picturesque landscapes of Charles City, Virginia, Indian Fields Tavern is a delightful culinary destination that perfectly marries rustic charm with a lively atmosphere. This cozy cocktail bar invites guests to unwind while savoring an impressive menu that features both vegetarian delights and local favorites like their renowned fried chicken. Complement your meal with a selection of craft beers sourced from the nearby Five Fields Brewery, and enjoy live music performances that add to the vibrant ambiance.
Went here twice and had amazing times ! We had Fried Chicken and Fried Fish the first time and Steak with Fried chicken the second time. We also had Bourbon Caramel Bread Pudding and ice creams and tried all their beers. They were all delicious. I would recommend either sit on the patio or outside in the screened porch to enjoy the beautiful view of the field and manicured garden. Must visit place if you are doing the Virginia Capital Trail or just happen to be close by!

Update We went for lunch (first visit was dinner after 6:30) on Thursday at noon and it was a much different experience. Food was delicious and service was excellent. Our first visit here while visiting friends who live in CC. We got a table for 4 at 6:30 on. Sunday, that was great. Server was new and friendly. Food and service were good. My husband said his burger was good but small, my chicken was tasty but ended up having to slice the chicken with knife to eat. The brussel sprouts were tasty, the fries were good but not very hot when served. My drink, was on the light side even though I asked for their non well liquor. All in all the atmosphere and the company were a plus. We’d try it again but maybe something else on the menu.
Sal — Google review
We’ve been to the brewery and finally made it to the tavern. It was last minute and not crowded at all. First, food was fantastic. The burger was tender and flavored great. I had the slaw and some of the best we’ve had. Best advice, be sure to check how busy and make a reservation just in case. Oh, get dessert.

Went for the live event with good music. Band was pretty good, Good Shot Judy. But on a very hot and humid day without fans to blow some fresh air to cool you and the place down, it was not that enjoyable. 2 glases of beer and wine for 34 usd from a "drinks" truck, was expensive as well. But beer 5 and a dime is great. Unbearable heat under the sheet metal. After the half found solace inside the tavern. Cooler than outside anyway. Food was good. Nothing to rave about but fresh, and tasty which is a big plus. Enjoyed the home name butter pecan ice cream. Give it a try when there.

We enjoyed good food and service in a relaxing atmosphere. If passing through the area or riding on the Capitol Trail, I would definitely recommend this as a stopping point.

Fantastic food! Awesome people! What more can you possibly want? The fried chicken and fried fish were fantastic, and my son loved the burger with brie (a cheese he was trying for the first time). Our friends had food they loved too, with terrific service. Highly recommended!

Outdoor show in a barn during a very hot day. They really need more fans when they entertain outside. Otherwise, so much fun and a beautiful setting!

I personally enjoyed my visit here. The staff was friendly, the food was very good and the atmosphere and views were refreshing. Check out their calendar and catch a live show, support local music! I look forward to returning.

Nestled along the scenic banks of the James River, Berkeley Plantation is a treasure trove of American history dating back to 1726. This remarkable plantation was not only home to Benjamin Harrison V, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, but also to his son William Henry Harrison, who served as the ninth president. Visitors can explore its beautifully preserved Georgian-style house filled with authentic 18th-century furnishings and enjoy guided tours that are rich in fascinating stories and anecdotes.
We loved our visit to the Berkeley Plantation. Our tour guide was so informative and we learned so much. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and located on the James river. We enjoyed walking the grounds and seeing some of the monuments and having George the cat tag along. Definitely make this one of your stops when traveling through Virginia.

What a great visit! Our tour guide was pleasant, knowledgeable and funny too. We ordered our tickets online the night before but you can buy at the door too. A lot of walking after the house tour so wear good shoes. George the cat was an added extra tour guide. Recommend, we learned some history and enjoyed our visit. We’d go back.

This is a great place to stop and see some British/ American history. The staff are wonderful and did a fantastic job. Beautiful location. What amazing history can be found. If your in the area or on 295. Take a short detour and stop. You won't be disappointed.

This was a fantastic place to visit and the tour was top notch! Really awesome, informative and beautiful. Highly recommend and please make sure to give George the cat a snuggle too.

Wasn't planned but so glad a local man in Williamsburg recommend the Berkeley Mansion. Lots of interesting historic insights into Virginia life around William Harrison and Benjamin Harrison Must see this plantation.

One of the best tours I have ever been on. I wish I caught his name. An older black gentleman. He was incredible. He was so full of knowledge and the way he talked to us was just so wonderful. He shared so much about the history of this home and he said he loves history and you can definitely see it. He works directly for the owner of the plantation. I can't say enough about this house if you are interested in plantation life and our country's history and our founding fathers. I would so do this again
Dani B — Google review
Great place to explore history. Wish there was more to look at in the house and kitchen quarters. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable. It was like a step back through time. George the resident cat was a treat. Glad we stopped on our way out of Virginia.

Would highly recommend visiting! We had an amazing tour guide who was so knowledgeable & friendly! The plantation is so full of history. I’ve lived in Virginia pretty much my whole life and never knew until today that this is really where the first Thanksgiving took place! Beautiful grounds and full of cardinals! I’ve never seen so many. And King George (the cat) is a very well mannered & handsome little fella! :)

We had a birthday party of 12. Our referee was named Mason. He was great with the kids and made the whole visit fun. Can't wait to go back! Honestly the whole staff did a good job and many of our guests are excited to book a party!
Brittany T — Google review
Extremely fun, sore for 4 days after. Great staff. Would be 5 start but the electronic guns that you pay more for have continuous problems due to age and lack of regular preventative maintenance until it messes up. The mechanical guns work well though. Still regardless it was a ton of fun. I recommend

Been looking for a new family activity to do and this was just what we needed. Our family went against another family which made the experience even better. Our ref Collin was informative as we were beginners. We were there 2hrs and it was worth every penny. Can’t wait to go back.

First piece of advice...bring your bank card. Plan on spending a lot of money in the 2 hours of play. First time playing and was put in with what seemed, experts. Their equipment was much better than for novice. Games last approximately 6 to 10 minutes with a 10 minute or so break. With 2 hours paid we played 3 matches. Overall, fun. Gets you tired at the end of day.
Gregg T — Google review
Fun time!! Cool courses to play on! Price can add up if you don’t buy a Groupon deal in advance.

Very fun and affordable place to play paintball. There is also a shop and food. I will be back.

Went for a birthday outing. It's exhausting but lots of fun had. Only thing I'd say is that the guy explaining the games should explain slower to make sure the newbies playing understand.
