Park
Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument is a protected area in the Sonoran Desert, named after its native cacti. It offers a serene and crowdless environment with stunning scenery. The park is home to 28 species of cacti and diverse wildlife, providing two campgrounds, numerous hiking trails, and scenic drives. Spring is an ideal time to visit due to wildflowers and milder temperatures, while summers can be hot with monsoon rains from July to September.
The entire time we were here I kept saying that we needed a 360° Camera. There were so many pictures that deserved to be taken and I couldn't. I recommend coming here for a relaxing drive and beautiful hiking locations. We hadn't planned on coming so we didn't have the right gear to walk after a certain point. Will definitely go back to go further and see more.

GORGEOUS nearly untouched landscape; we camped here at the Twin Peaks campground for three nights and had an amazing time. So much wildlife to uncover and vegetation to photograph. We spent the nights hunting around for insects with black lights and looking upwards for bats, owls, and nighthawks. Truly one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been.
Lynn — Google review
Very interesting park. Beautiful landscape and nice hike (the one on the prepared path). Unfortunately it is not easy and we didn't took chances to finish the hike up to the arch. It's a pity there is not enough info regarding this...
Mihai S — Google review
Giant cactus all around! There are plenty of places to hike, camp, and have picnices. Be warned that there are few trees here and can be hot during the warm season. There's an option to drive around the park, and that's what we did to see some of the main sights. The visitor center is also a must-see for the exhbits, souvenirs, and informative staff.
Town T — Google review
A hidden gem that is extra rewarding to those that venture out here in the heat of summer. We've visited in June when the park was virtually deserted. As such, he rangers offered us very personalized lecture and a taste of saguaro fruit; unique and amazing experience, The 21 miles loop Ajo drive, mostly gravel road, was easily navigated by a Kia Soul. There are some low points that may not be suitable for very low clearance vehicles such as hybrid sedans. While you are there, do stop by the little quaint town of Ajo. There isn't much in the way of food not lodging options. You'll likely head back to Phoenix or stay in Gila Bend.
Bill J — Google review
We did one 4 hour hike on a day trip. The campground looked very nice. (No generators). Our pups had a blast hiking the trail. The visitor center was very informative. They have a small gift shop and a small museum.
Molly F — Google review
Way out of the way (about 2.5 hours from Tucson) but well worth the trip. The rangers were friendly and informative. The loop road takes you through 21 miles of stunning scenery.
Michael F — Google review
This has to be one of the most lush desert parks that we've ever been to. Huge abundance of saguaro, organ pipe, octotillo, cholla, palo verde, and many other plants. Does not feel like a desert at all! I understand that most of the scenic roads are gravel, so we skipped those due to our RV. We stayed at the campground and did several of the short hikes. Did the Palo Verde Trail, Desert View Trail, and Campground Perimeter Trail. The Desert View Trail was our favorite. There are some longer hikes available if you are able to drive on the gravel roads. The location is a little remote but well-worth the detour!

Restaurant
Last night, we visited the Agave Grill in Ajo and were impressed with its inviting atmosphere and delicious cuisine. The service provided by Eric was exceptional as he efficiently attended to everyone's needs while promptly taking our orders. Despite a bustling kitchen, they managed to serve us the scrumptious Fried Green Beans before we even finished our first beer. The Chicken sandwich was moist and flavorful, and the Sweet Potato Fries were truly outstanding.
Food was delicious. Good atmosphere. I saw how one of the owners talked to some of the customers like they were old friends. Was my second time here, I enjoyed it so much the first time that I invited my friends to eat there on our way home. Food is so good I wasn't patient enough to take pictures of it 🤭😂

Agave Grill – A Disappointing Return We first visited Agave Grill in Ajo, AZ, about seven or eight years ago, not long after it had opened. At the time, we were thoroughly impressed—not just with the food, but with the entire experience. The owner was passionate, full of energy, and eager to share his vision for the restaurant. He even sat at our table, describing in detail his process for seasoning the meat before preparing the burger patties. That enthusiasm was contagious, and our whole group left raving about the place. Fast-forward to today, and we were excited to return, eager to see how the restaurant had evolved. Sadly, it hadn’t lived up to the dream the owner had once shared with us. While the burger was still good, it didn’t stand out the way we remembered. The magic we once felt was missing. Service was noticeably slow, and the same man we had met years ago seemed disengaged, lacking the passion and energy that had once made Agave Grill special. Instead of the warm, enthusiastic welcome we remembered, we were met with a curt, unenthusiastic attitude. It’s always tough when a place you once loved doesn’t live up to your memories. Agave Grill was once a standout, but on this visit, it was just another average stop. Here’s hoping it can find its spark again.

Overall, this is a great stop in Ajo. The service was great. The burgers were delicious. The sweet potato fries were nice and salty and crispy. All in all, this is a great little restaurant to stop and enjoy a meal.

This place is an absolute gem! Our vehicle broke down on our way to rocky point and Eric offered to help us out. He went above and beyond to take care of us and treated us like family. This is definitely a place to stop and enjoy a good meal with your loved ones. Eric if you read this thank you so much my friend. See you soon. God bless you and your family.

Always a pleasure to stop in and have an amazing burger and fries. I just wish their hours of operation for 24 hours a day LoL Great food and great people. Definitely worth stopping in to check out this little Gem of a restaurant.

Grabbed some dinner here right before they closed. The inside has lots of character with local artwork, and cabin diner feel. They have a pretty great selection in their menu. I got a salad and my husband got a chicken sandwich. They are very generous with their portions, and everything we got was delicious. Highly recommend it. Also, thank you to Eric, he took our order. He was very welcoming and friendly. Definitely will be coming back next time I'm in town.
Erika G — Google review
I walked into the shop, and was greeted immediately. The server informed me I could sit anywhere I'd like too. The ordering of the food took some time, which is good! My interpretation of this is—my food is coming out fresh and with care! The shop is cozy, not a bad place too get lunch! I was impressed with the Ruben sandwich with fries!

The best burger joint in Ajo. The portions are very satisfying and the flavors are delicious. The avocado burger topped with mushrooms, pickles, red onions, and some habanero hot sauce, along with crispy seasoned fries, and an ice cold Corona and lime had me stuffed! The owner, Eric, came over to introduce himself and check on us during our meal. Our waitress was very friendly and service was fast. We definitely came at a good time! We'll definitely come back when I'm in town.

Ajo Pie - Artisan Pizza

Pizza restaurant
Ajo Pie - Artisan Pizza is a delightful gem nestled in a charming town, specializing in thin crust artisan pizzas that are perfect for takeout. The inviting atmosphere may be simple, with just a few tables and local history notes adorning the walls, but the focus here is undoubtedly on the food. Each pizza features handmade dough that boasts an ideal chewiness and subtle smoky char, elevating every bite.
Great tasting thin crust artisan pizza. So glad this little town had a nice pizza place. It's more oriented for takeout, hence the lower 4 star for atmosphere. A clean place with a few tables, and some notes of local activities and history. All pizzas are thin, one size, with fresh toppings. Somewhat connected to Sonoran Desert Inn, easy to pickup and take back to your room. Otherwise park on the street (W Vananda Ave) to get your pie. Ordered Escalated Pepperoni (very good), and Sweet & Spicy (which was a little on the salty side due to the ham and bacon).
Vic D — Google review
This pizza was AMAZING. Spot has varied options to meet the different tastes of a group, something that worked great for our group of four. The staff were super friendly and kind enough to make any changes we requested. Have a full array of sodas and some merch for sale. Plenty of parking and open from 3-9pm, several days a week.

I hit Ajo Pie last night. WoW. Happy to review here. The crust is always the make it or break it start for me. This gorgeous handmade dough has the perfect chew with a subtle smoky char that adds depth of flavor. I got the Escalated Pepperoni pie: my toppings — Ajo Pie red sauce, pepperoni, mozzarella, ricotta, parmesan, garlic and a fo shizzle my nizzle drizzle of roasted garlic chili oil — absolutely aligned my stars this evening. I am very happy to welcome Ajo Pie to the currently expanding (like my waistline) food scene. My new work out plan includes working my way through this menu. Choose from various upscale combos or build your own from a nice selection of quality toppings. Thanks, Ajo Pie Co., for bringing us amazing pizza. 💕

Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5) I recently tried the Ajo Pie Pizza with escalated pepperoni, and it was a taste sensation! The thin, crispy crust provided the perfect base for the rich tomato sauce and gooey cheese. The escalated pepperoni added just the right amount of spicy kick, making this pizza an absolute winner. Highly recommended for pizza enthusiasts!

Ajo Plaza, located in the heart of Ajo, Arizona, is a historic site dating back to 1917. It was built under the direction of businessman John Campbell Greenway and his wife Isabella. The plaza features grassy areas, benches, vintage street lamps, and colonial Spanish architecture. A gateway to Mexico from Arizona, Ajo offers access to the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument and showcases Sonoran Desert flora and fauna.
Beautiful plaza, you would think that this town was plaza was built around the Spanish time but was actually built during the 20th century. But still, you can not help but wonder and amaze how this area looks so authentic. There are shops, restaurants and offices but it's like a ghost town on Sundays as even churches are closed.

If you are looking for a quaint small town plaza shopping experience this is a great place to visit. Sit at the local cafe and try authentic Italian barista coffee and then have lunch and see local art shops. The centre square has much historical value and there are many murals that adorn the building walls. This was a highlight on our recent trip!

This is an interesting and attractive little town and plaza. Built by mining companies. There are not a lot of businesses, but Oasis coffee, and a thrift store or highlights for us. There is an adorable and well-run library as well. Really nice place to hang out with a book and a iced coffee. There is a visitor center in the train depot on the east side of the plaza, and outside there is a free walking guide map that will give you a little history of the town.

For a Mexican restaurant to be so close to Mexico, I had big expectations. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed and some of the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had. I do not recommend. The waiter was nice, speedy, and the place was clean. The waiter recommended two of their best dishes and meat type, we ordered both dishes. Tacos trio and carnitas with rice and beans. Carnitas were super dry, beans had no flavor, and the rice was mush, like it had been reheated too many times or way overcooked. The carne asada tacos was actually pretty good, but the carnitas were extremely dry! Unfortunately, the best part of our meals were the salsas, they had good flavor.

I ordered the carne asada tacos, served with rice & refried beans...It was over a year ago... the next day... was miserable, sick from food poisoning...was quite painful...I think it was the rice because, I remember it had a funny taste. Was sick all day & all night🤐. Woke up the day after that day & felt fine again. Otherwise everything was good...just...watch out for the rice...because if it tastes a little funny...don't eat it.

I ordered the Steak Quesadilla—and the sandwich was HUGE! There was plenty of meat, and I left very impressed and full. They offer you a glass of ice with their sodas, instead of a fountain drink. The owner offered me a second glass, which was unexpected—but very kind! If your hungry for lunch, the steak quesadilla won't disappoint!

Nice, clean place. Staff was very nice. The food is excellent also! The only reason I didn't give it five stars is the menu is pretty limited and written on a wall. See photos. And yes, I would eat there again.

Was not to happy my first time here. I was not expecting the meat to be very spicy, not in a chili way but way to much pepper is what got me at my mouth and burn the back of my throat. Was not my kinda Tacos I'm use to.

This is one on the only choices to eat dinner on the Ajo town square. My beer/mixed drink options were fine but my wife was unimpressed by the limited and weak wine selection. That seemed to annoy the bartender and when she switched her order to a martini, he basically said he did not to make her one. I guess you don’t want to annoy the bartender in these parts! We did some tacos to go and they were fine. My margarita was tasty and served in a big frosty cool looking “goblet”. VictorB

Nature & Wildlife Areas
Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge Administration Office and Visitor Center is a remarkable destination that spans an impressive 860,000 acres of stunning desert landscape. This refuge is dedicated to the preservation of diverse wildlife, plants, and habitats, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts. The name "Cabeza Prieta," which translates to "dark head" in Spanish, refers to a distinctive lava-topped granite peak found within its remote mountain ranges.
I don't actually go there but the reason it a national wildlife refuge is because there is Sonoran pronghorn

**🌵 A Hidden Gem (Even When Closed!) – Cabeza Prieta NWR Visitor Center 🌵** We stopped by the **Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge Administration Office and Visitor Center** on a **Sunday** (when it was closed), but we’re so glad we did! Even without access to the building, the **outdoor trail and viewing areas** made our visit worthwhile. **Highlights of Our Visit:** - **Pupfish spotting!** In a small protected pond, we saw these tiny **endangered desert pupfish**—a rare and special sight. - **Javelina encounter!** A wild javelina trotted by, giving us an up-close look at one of the Sonoran Desert’s most iconic creatures. - **Bird blind & trail** – Though the feeders were empty (so no birds this time), the shaded viewing area looks like a great spot for wildlife watching when active. **Final Thoughts:** While we’d love to return when the **visitor center is open** (likely with even more exhibits and info), the outdoor features alone made this a fun and unexpected stop. If you’re passing through **Ajo** and love desert wildlife, it’s worth a quick visit—just don’t expect much if you go on a weekend! **⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5) – Quiet but rewarding! Check hours for the full experience.** *Tip: Pair this with a trip to nearby **Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument** for more desert adventure!*

If you're planning a trip to Ajo, the Ajo Visitor Center is an essential stop that can enhance your experience. Spending a night or two in this charming town allows you to fully immerse yourself in its unique culture and explore local attractions. There are several cozy hotels and motels available, many equipped with kitchenettes, fridges, and microwaves for your convenience. While visiting the center, you might find it helpful to chat with the incredibly friendly staff member who works there.

We were disappointed to find out that they did not have any maps for the walking tour. Also, we couldn't find triangle Park until we drove by it and realized that it's now called memory Park. That should probably be changed on their information. The lady that was working at the visitor Center was very helpful, pleasant, and engaging.

The Curley School Artisan Apartments are located in the heart of a vibrant community, surrounded by attractions such as the Plaza, Old Train Depot, Federated Church, and Greenway Mansion. The building itself is a historic 1919-era structure that was once a public school and has since been restored into 30 live/work apartment rentals for artists and creative home businesses. The apartments feature an interesting layout and are housed within a cool, historic building with friendly tenants.
Looking for the rental information, pictures of rooms, floorplan layouts and prices of rooms and sizes of rooms, number of bedrooms and bath, availability etc. and the cost of your different apartments…. information about the requirements for a living space there? as I am an artist and love this concept and area….

Just stumbled on to this after getting some veges at the IGA. However, as your driving into town from the south, this monstrasity is pretty evident. It's pretty wild; employed 1500 people at it's highest production, 1 1/2 miles across, clsed in 1985 for economic reasons, don't remember the other statistics the historian told me. Want to say 1200 feet deep but not sure, miles of train track(?). Leave a donation.(Butte, Montana charges 3$ to peek at their closed up copper mine.) But her and her late husband have been dutiful here for 17 yrs. Kudos!
Debbie T — Google review
The lady who was the host at the mine lookout center was very pleasant. Gave us a complete history of the mind from before. It's beginning to a shutdown and it's current day status. Her husband used to work at the mine and she was very knowledgeable. Told us all about the happenings.
Paul M — Google review
It’s quite interesting, but I only give it three stars because it’s basically just looking at a home in the ground and after a few minutes you be saying … “ok, let’s go home now”! To be fair though, we came when the visitor center was closed so maybe there was something more interesting in that small building. My comments are just relative to looking at the big hole in the ground. VictorB
Victor B — Google review
Lots of history here. The older gal that works here is a volunteer. She is not able to open up every day. One local resident said there is another 15 years worth of mining of copper at the Cornelia Mine…if the demand was needed.
GJR — Google review
Terrific view of the now closed syrup mining operation. The aqua- colored pool of water at the bottom made for a great picture. The workers in the tourist information building were very informative.
Bev H — Google review
It was closed when I went. I will be back to see how much more I can see!!!! Such a cool site to see. Easy to get to!
Nick W — Google review
Originally used by Native Americans and Spanish miners, it was developed in the early 20th century as an open pit copper mine, and over the course of seven decades grew to 1.5 mi wide and 1100 feet deep. While the center is supported by donation, the staff at the visitor center have done a great job preserving the past through photo documentation and present through thorough explanation. The site is well maintained and sturdy, and the picture portals through the fence are an excellent touch. The color of the lake at the bottom, from ground water, is usually dark, but turns a brilliant blue after one of the very infrequent heavy rains.

Sonoran Sweet & Savory is a delightful culinary gem nestled in the heart of Ajo, where community spirit thrives. This charming eatery not only serves as a hub for locals but also showcases an impressive array of 70 food vendors from the nearby Authentically Ajo Farmers Market. With its inviting atmosphere and friendly owners, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy breakfast or brunch before exploring the historic town center.
This perfect space packs a big punch. From the enthusiastic owners to the extensive menu, the atmosphere is friendly and inviting. The menu includes both sweet and savory options, including gluten free. There are also 'build your own' options, so everyone can find something to suit their taste. My first try was the lemon tart with raspberry sauce. It was absolutely perfect, and the freshly made flavored whipping cream that accompanied it was so good that I could have eaten a bowl full on its own. On my second visit, I chose the pepperoni pizza. Imagine eating perfectly spiced toppings in light folds of crepe. The homemade sauce was divine. Of course I had to get a lemon tart crepe and whipped cream to go. Plan on leaving plenty full because these crepes are ample. They will also be serving brisket on the 4th of July, so stop in during the festivities in The Plaza. They are just across the street. Whether you choose sweet or savory, you can't miss with the attention to flavor profiles in these dishes. Enjoy.

I got the biscuits and gravy and the portion sizes were very large! The biscuits are clearly home made and very buttery I liked them a lot. The gravy was a little bland in my opinion but still good. I also got orange juice and bacon the orange juice is very good and it doesn't taste like concentrate like at a lot of other restaurants. And the bacon was all also good.👍

So excited to have Sonoran Sweet & Savory here in Ajo! The Mongolian Beef is absolutely delicious — tender, full of flavor, and perfectly prepared. It’s great to see new options opening up in town, and even better that they’re staying open during the summer for us local sunbirds. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. Wishing them much success — we’re happy to have you as part of the Ajo community!

I was immediately greeted, invited too sit anywhere I'd like too at the restaurant—service was excellent! The Jalapeño Raspberry Jam was the hidden gem. I never tried it, but in my opinion—it's not too sweet or bitter! Just in the middle of the equilibrium, perfect. The family is very kind, talkative and have interesting ideas for their future restaurant. I'd entertain a dinner menu one of these days soon, when the doors open for evening dinner! I liked it, what a wonderful experience!

This is a lovely, very clean and quiet rest stop. Isaac the young man manning the office and gift shop is lovely, personable, charming and helpful. The beds are super comfortable with great pillows. Did I mention the room was spotless? This is a converted grade school so don’t expect the ritz. If you want a comfortable, clean and quiet place to lay your head, with a lovely local fauna garden in the court yard with thoughtful enmities then look no Further. Thank you Isaac and Oreo!

This is a charming hotel that used to be a school! The rooms are immaculate, the staff is friendly but low key, and the central courtyard has plenty of places to stop and read a book in the shade. I highly recommend it.
Marc M — Google review
Thanks to the great article in the Arizona Highways about the Sonoran Desert Inn, we book three nights just before Thanksgiving and were in complete agreement with the magazine that this place is a treasure! The room had everything we needed, accept for a door mat, since we're experts at dragging in gravel and dirt. It was comfortable, roomy, and quiet. The courtyard was amazing, the restoration of the historic building and surrounding buildings in Ajo, was heartwarming, the proximity to Organ Pipe National Monument was perfect for us to hike in during the day and the Inn was central, so we could stroll the streets in the late afternoons and evenings to delight in all of the creative and beautiful murals scattered throughout the downtown area. However, the best part of the stay was the staff. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. Case in point, we purchased 4 bags of the famous Curly Coffee to take home with us as gifts and promptly left the bag in the gift shop. I was able to email the staff, who responded immediately, and mailed the bag to us. I was thrilled and they couldn't have been nicer. We have already recommended this place to several of our friends and plan on returning next winter. Great job!

Although I did spot a few hairs and tiny black stains on the bed linens, those minor (and unfortunately fairly common for hotels/motels/inns) imperfections were not enough to dock a star from otherwise very clean, comfy, quiet place to spend night.

For a small museum, this place was packed with treasures and history. They separated out little vignettes from old dental care, military history, The Greenway family, mining companies and much much more. We arrived just 20 minutes before they were closing but the 2 gents in the place were happy to answer questions and provide us with good information. Don't forget to stroll around outside. They survive by donations and the goodwill of their volunteers. If you're in Ajo, stop by on your way around the Scenic Loop Road.

**🏜️ A Hidden Treasure in Ajo – The Ajo Historical Society & Museum 🏜️** While traveling through Ajo on our way to **Organ Pipe National Monument**, we stumbled upon the **Ajo Historical Society & Museum**—and what a delightful surprise it was! Housed in a charming old church at the top of a hill, this little museum is packed with fascinating stories and warm, welcoming people. **First Impressions:** We weren’t sure if they’d be open, but luckily, we visited on a **Thursday** (they’re open **Thurs–Sun**). The staff explained that they’re volunteer-run and wish they could open more often—so definitely **check hours before you go!** **Meet the Characters:** We were greeted by **Jim**, a friendly, laid-back guy who looked like he could’ve been a gold prospector in another life (though that day, he was rocking a **Beatles shirt**). Jim shared wild tales of his adventures—including **going to Woodstock!**—and walked us through the museum’s beginnings, pointing out quirky donated items that each had their own unique backstory. Then we met **Mike Lane**, a **former mine employee** and one of the last workers at Ajo’s mine before it closed. His firsthand accounts of working in the **tool shop and rail-building crews** were absolutely captivating. He described the process of hauling ore from the depths of the mine with such detail that we could almost hear the clang of machinery! **The Best Souvenir:** Mike also wrote a book, *The Coyote Who Taught Himself to Sing*, which we **bought and had him sign**—a perfect memento from our visit. **Final Thoughts:** This isn’t your typical polished museum—it’s a **labor of love** run by passionate locals who keep Ajo’s history alive. If you’re passing through town (especially if you’re staying at the fantastic **Zen Garden Inn**—seriously, check out my review!), make time to stop by. You’ll leave with **great stories, a deeper appreciation for Ajo, and maybe even a signed book!** **⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 – A must-visit for history lovers & curious travelers!**

When I first moved here after living in the clogged and smokey air of Phoenix I was very surprised to discover that Ajo had not only a airport but off Rasmussen rd hidden I came upon a beautiful 9/18 hole golf course. Today Sunday a good friend and i ventured out early this morning and played the greatest 9 holes that I can recall. The greens we're in excellent shape even after the rain we had the night before. My friend Rick who owns some property here in Ajo said; this was one of his greatest days. I can't get recall the fellows name who brought us the electric cart I just can't say enough about him what a friendly and helpful (owner, manager). I have only played out there 4 times in the past 3 yrs. I used to play in Phx at least 4 times a month. Wondering why I haven't played more well I just don't know many golfers ( yet).. Go play it's tough and very cool , time well spent. Christopher A Larson

5-Star Review for The Fat Cactus pizza and Arcade We stumbled upon The Fat Cactus Pizza while passing through town, and we’re so glad we did! It seemed like the only place open for a solid meal, and it absolutely delivered. While they offer a great variety of sandwiches and subs, we went with the pizza—and wow, it was outstanding! Cooked old world style on cornmeal, the crust had the perfect crunch and flavor. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with friendly, attentive staff who made us feel right at home—even as out-of-towners. Multiple TVs around the room were showing various sports games, which added to the lively vibe. And for a bit of extra fun, they have some awesome retro games tucked around the edges of the room, including a slide disc bowl machine, pinball, and darts. If you’re in town and looking for a great place to eat and relax, we definitely recommend The Fat Cactus Grill. We’ll be back next time we’re in the area!

First the staff were so welcoming and immediately got to us. After we received our drinks, our order was taken, and no more than 5 minutes later, we received our appetizer, the Ajo (Garlic) Knots. They were amazing, perfectly made, soft on the inside, and so flavorful throughout (the bowl is half empty because we couldnt wait lol). Then out 16' Margherita Pizza came and again perfectly made. Freshly cut basil was the first thing I smelled and then the marinara sauce which I swear tasted home made. The inside of the crust was so soft that I didn't have to force it down like other pizza places, I cleaned my plate of marinara and basil with it. 10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Fantastic Food & Friendly Faces at Fat Cactus! How often do you walk into a new restaurant and leave feeling like you’ve made a friend in the owner? That’s exactly the kind of warm and welcoming experience you’ll find at Fat Cactus in Ajo, Arizona. The staff was incredible—friendly, courteous, and efficient—making the entire visit enjoyable from start to finish. The restaurant itself is clean, well-organized, and inviting. Now, let’s talk about the food—absolutely top-notch! The side salad was fresh and flavorful, the buffalo hot wings had just the right amount of heat, and the pizza? Simply amazing! Without a doubt, this will become our go-to pizza spot in southern Arizona. We’ll be looking forward to our next visit, and if you’re in the area, Fat Cactus is a must-try!

I love their pizza, even the medium size is big! The prices are reasonable, and the people are friendly. It's cool they play sports games here, saw two baseball games on! If you order from here, you might not be able too eat it all. Bring it home with you for breakfast! I've met the owner in person, very kind man. He runs his business very well I think! Thanks.

Went to Fat Cactus after riding The Devil's Highway from Yuma to Ajo. They really took care of our group of 13. The owner brought out a HUGE bowl of incredible salad for us to start on. The pizza was excellent went great with the nice beer and cider selection. Thanks for taking such good care of us and creating awesome dinner memories to go along with an epic two days of off-road riding. Anxious to visit Fat Cactus at there new location next year.

I was hesitant at first but after looking at the reviews it lived up to the 4.8 rating. We drove out to the Organ Pike Cactus monument and stopped in on our way back. So glad we did. Jillian was amazing. She greeted us with a smile, was very engaging and genuine. The food was amazing. We had wings, the italian sub, and bbq chicken sliders. Let's not forget the garlic knots. You have alot to be proud of, your place knocked it out of the park. You are bleassed to have Jillian representing your business. She is simply amazing. This will be a regular stop for us from now on when we go to Rocky Point. Glad stumbled upon you.

You need to stop here when traveling through! I can't say enough good things about this place. We stopped here twice in one week on our way to and from Rocky Point. The food, drink and atmosphere are amazing. The garlic knots are to die for. REAL ingredients and fabulous flavor. The pizza was delicious with a perfectly chewy crust. A nice selection of VERY COLD beers on tap that rotate. This is a small family-owned business and it shows in every detail, from the friendly greeting when you walk in the door, to the charming outdoor seating area. This is our new favorite spot whenever we travel through town.
