The Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC) stands as a vibrant hub for entertainment and events in downtown Birmingham. Spanning over one million square feet, this expansive venue is perfect for everything from trade shows to concerts and political rallies. With multiple venues like the Legacy Arena, Concert Hall, and Theater, visitors can enjoy a diverse lineup of performances including musical acts, Broadway shows, comedy nights, and sporting events.
Legacy Arena at BJCC was awesome. Very clean with friendly staff (security, ushers, concessions). My daughter and I enjoyed our concert immensely! Bathrooms were clean & well lit plus stocked. We sat in section 213 row c seats 1-2. Great view for price.
Holly G — Google review
The concert at protective stadium was great but the seating was awful. Everyone is not the same size, so it was like you couldn’t sit in the spot you purchased. Everything else was good! The food vendors could’ve been a little more organized. Definitely something I would do again especially if they figure out better seating.
Katherine N — Google review
My daughter had the best time! Staff members were very polite! The walk to parking garage wasn’t bad at all. Can’t wait for our next concert!

Chris Brown is amazing. Show was EXCELLENT!!!! I just wish i would've known i couldn't tap my phone with my ticket. I had to waste time going to the ticket office to print them out

Everything was perfect. I really enjoyed the Chris Brown concert. It was seamless. Entrance into the concert was easy. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex – A Top-Tier Venue for Any Event I recently attended a four-day conference at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC) and was thoroughly impressed from start to finish. This is a first-class venue that strikes the perfect balance between size, comfort, and functionality. The facilities were clean, modern, and well-maintained, with plenty of space for breakout sessions, exhibits, and large gatherings. Everything was organized and easy to navigate — a huge plus when you're moving around all day. The staff was professional, helpful, and kept everything running smoothly behind the scenes. Whether you're attending a conference, expo, concert, or special event, the BJCC delivers. The surrounding Uptown district adds even more to the experience with great restaurants and hotels just steps away. If you’re planning or attending a major event in Birmingham, the BJCC is the place to be.

We saw Wicked! We loved everything! The only negative is the lines for the bathrooms, everything was great from the close parking to the amount of staff, no lines for security, we sat 4th row center, there was enough space in between rows, we got to our middle seat but didn't have to rub up against anyone to get there, lighting wasn't too bright and orchestra and sound wasn't too loud being so close. Performers were absolutely amazing! We will definitely be back to this theater for another performance! Everything for the guest experience was very thoughtful. I was very glad I didn't have to use the bathroom during intermission, that looked like a nightmare, and my only negative.
Stephene P — Google review
My wife and I had the best time at The Joy Koy: Just Being Koy concert. It was amazing. It was our first time and the BJCC Concert Hall and we had a total blast!!! We will be going back again real soon.

Great fun with a variety of different golf games for a variety of player types! Food and service was great as well. Great way to spend a few hours and recommend the upper level!

I brought my family, 6 of us in all, to Top Golf on a Tuesday when they are less busy and give great discounts. These were true today. We ordered some donut holes and 6 glasses of water. Our tv monitors all worked. I was able to change the channel with my phone. The young lady that welcomed us and was very nice. It was my first visit, so I didn't know what to expect. As I decided to order some food, or server must have been busy. So, I went to the bar to seek answers to my questions. The manager's service was exceptional though. That's why I give 4 starts for service. If I could give 4.9 stars I would.
Jason A — Google review
Great place for fun with friends . Food is very tasty. Restrooms were clean. Service is slow. They have a QR Code for the menu. I would suggest adding the ability to order from the tables.
Linda J — Google review
I was here last night with my family (of 5--all in one bay). I made a reservation for 6:30. We got there about 6:15. I'll start with customer service. The lady at the front desk acted like she didn't care that we were even there--no smile no welcome--just here's your bay. I think our waitress was Cheyenne--very friendly but didn't come around very often--several times we needed more drinks, and didn't see her for quite a while. At one point a waiter from a different level brought us a drink we had ordered 10 minutes earlier and she was very friendly, even taking our orders for what we needed at that time. Moving in to gameplay--it was fun; the green mat was a little out of whack and the ball got stuck every time rather than rolling out onto the mat. If you didn't catch it, it would roll the opposite direction toward the adjoining bay. (We were, like, bay 226 or close to it --right in the middle.) Moving on to food--the nachos (both chicken and steak) and wings (both boneless and bone-in) were good. The BlackBerry Smash was good, but we didn't like the strawberry lemonade or the ?loaded? lemonade. One more good thing to mention is that we got an extra 15 minutes of play time, I think because we got there 15 minutes early. Overall we had a good time.
Glenn B — Google review
Update on 06/17/25. Still a fabulous spot! I hot. Chance to actually play golf or hit balls this time and I love it! Here are a few shots! Fabulous spot to hang out with very good vibe! Even though I cannot or care to play golf the view while sitting outside is absolutely magnificent! Great food and good service! Stop by after work!!💯
Angelia B — Google review
The waitress was so nice when we actually saw her - but she was negligent!!! We sat at our table after getting food for OVER an hour before she came by again. Had to go to the bar to get anything else - including sauces that were supposed to be included w/meal. (Literally waited over an hour for this sauce). I’m astounded at the lack of service. Had to put our dishes on an empty table (the smell was bothersome) and they still sat there for hours after!!! We decided to come watch a football game so we’d been here awhile. Happy to have ordered drinks but didn’t get as many due to lack of service. Even when we went to bar - ignored. Ordered a drink that NEVER CAME but was charged for. Absolute bummer!!! I recommend other bars over this one.
Alexandra N — Google review
Went to Topgolf on an outing for work. We have periodic get togethers outside of the office to unwind and have fun. I would not have chosen Topgolf as my choice for somewhere fun to go because I am not into golf and did not envision myself having a good time there. Luckily for me, I was wrong. I had a great time. I've never seriously hit a golf ball (unless you count putt putt golf) but I was shockingly good at it right off the bat. The food was better that I expected as well. The service was great (even though our server's personality was a bit on the spicy side—but I like that). I can't comment on the prices since it was a work event and I didn't have to pay for anything. I would definitely go back again in my own time with family or friends. Even if you think it's not for you, check it out because you may be pleasantly surprised as I was.

Chicken restaurant
Eugene's Hot Chicken - Uptown is a fast food restaurant specializing in Nashville-style hot chicken. Originally starting as a food truck, it has now expanded to two brick-and-mortar locations. The founder, Zebbie Carney, was inspired to bring the phenomenon of hot chicken from Nashville to Alabama. With a perfect balance of heat and flavor, Eugene's Hot Chicken offers various levels of spiciness for their signature dish.
The chicken tenders and okra were delicious! I had the Hot Damn seasoning on my tenders, and it was the perfect amount of heat. The seasoning tastes more than just cayenne pepper like other establishments. The okra was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend the food. The place is small and a little crowded during lunchtime, but there is extra outdoor seating.
Barry S — Google review
I tried the $1.25 Wednesday Wing Special with fries. The chicken was fried perfectly, crispy and flavorful. However, I wasn’t a fan of the sauce. I ordered mild on my wings, but the flavor was sweet. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the waitress was very helpful. I can’t wait to return, I already have in mind what I would like to try next.

The food is cooked to order so there is a bit of a wait but very much worth it ! Nice staff, great atmosphere. Food was delicious and seasoned well. The pickles were top quality. Definitely will be back.

By far, the best chicken I've ever ate. The cornbread and slaw were also amazing. I can't wait to go back.
Nicole M — Google review
From the outside, Eugene’s Hot Chicken looks modern, like one of those franchise places that's been around forever and has a loyal following. Step inside, and you'll notice the seating is super limited—there's literally a standing-only table right in the middle. You place your order at one window and pick it up at another, or wait for your number to be called if it's busy. There's a covered patio for when the inside seating fills up. Oh, and there's a refill station for unlimited Coke, which you'll definitely need because "Hot Chicken" is in the name, and they mean it. The staff who took our order were friendly and professional, and the waitress who brought our food was really nice. I ordered the mild chicken tenders and waffles, and they were plated so nicely, with the waffles on one side and the tenders on the other. It looked almost too good to eat. The tenders tasted like they were homemade, with just a gentle kick of spice—so, if you're daring, watch out for the hot ones. The waffles were perfect: crunchy on the outside and spongy on the inside, exactly as they should be. The chicken came straight from the fryer, piping hot and delicious. Value for money Chicken and Waffles tenders $14.50 Raising Cane’s 3- Piece Combo $8.49 Popeyes Handcrafted Tenders Diner $8.99 Eugene’s Hot Chicken Tenders and Waffles are significantly bigger than either Cane’s or Popeyes and the waffle was made in house so personally I think I got my money’s worth.

I really enjoyed my visit. I ordered the 1/2 chicken, lemon pepper with blue cheese sauce. And an Arnold Palmer and banana pudding. Sides macn cheese and potatoes with gravy. I wanted corn bread and greens. The cornbread was not available 😔 But my food was hot, fresh, and proportion good. The restaurant was clean, smelled delicious. The staff was pleasant and courteous. I always have a great experience here. The cashier did forget to give me a cup for my tea though.

My first time at Eugene’s and they didn’t disappoint. The food was great and the service excellent. You’re able to sit in inside the restaurant or outside on the patio area. We chose the patio area on this beautiful Thursday day. I had the two-piece dark(hot)/waffle with collard greens and french fries with a side of Alabama white sauce for dipping and it was so good. My daughter had the chicken tenders and fries. The chicken is well seasoned. And my husband got the two-piece (hot)with collard greens and fries!!! Hot was not too hot, but just enough spice. Everything was great. We will definitely be back💕💕
Arika K — Google review
We stopped in for a quick bite. I'm definitely a fan of hot chicken and Eugene's did not disappoint. Had a quarter dark combo and the food came out super hot and in decent time for a busy as they were. Cozy but fun atmosphere with a small section of outside seating. I ordered mine hot and it was good had nice heat definitely have to get the damn hot next time. My wife got the southern style and the flavor was good. I highly recommend checking them out. To me they are a good competition for Hattie B's in Nashville.

Museums
Non-profit organization
The Birmingham Museum of Art is a top regional museum in the United States, offering an extensive collection of over 26,000 artworks spanning ancient to modern times. Visitors can explore diverse cultures through its rich array of Asian, European, American, African, Pre-Columbian, and Native American art. The museum's mission is to deliver an exceptional cultural and educational experience by curating and showcasing high-quality works of art. Additionally, the venue features an elegant sculpture garden for visitors to enjoy.
The Birmingham Museum of Art is a wonderful part of Birmingham that holds a collection of international arts and culture. The building and location is conveniently place by tons of restaurants and parking. We attended The Candle Light concert while visiting tonight. The venue is the perfect size and intimate setting. No matter where you were seated, the view of the stage was excellent and easily viewed. The staff was friendly and helpful, most of all, the facility is clean and well maintained.

We enjoyed our first visit here. Because it’s free 💙, we only toured the first floor, saving the rest for another visit Compared to my hometown of Montgomery, this museum had more variety. However, the security guards walk through with distractingly loud walkie talkies. Also I was standing by accident too close to this really boring green sofa. I didn’t notice it was beeping at me until a security guard rudely informed me I was standing too close. Move the sofa out of the way. I was two feet away and in no way going to endanger the sofa. Train your staff to kindly let guests know they are too close We had read there is free parking but we didn’t know where it was so we ended up paying $3 in a garage just past the theater next to the museum. No big deal…just note that you may want to figure out where the free parking is
Heather P — Google review
One of the coolest art museums out there. I love that it’s free to get more people through the door but also accepts donations. The Asian hall is my favorite to walk through but surely everyone can find something to be inspired by in this house of many treasures. I try to visit every time I’m in Birmingham and highly recommend you do the same!

Was a lot of fun, I can see I'd have two different experiences with and without my children, but fun both ways. Highly recommend visiting and keeping up with events here, and on the weekday, we only paid a few dollars for parking in the public parking deck right past the museum.

Yo' Mama's is a casual Southern eatery known for its comforting chicken and waffles and other classic dishes. The restaurant offers a laid-back atmosphere with attentive service, making diners feel right at home. A unique feature of Yo' Mama's is their gluten-free breading for frying, catering to those with dietary restrictions. Customers rave about the delicious meatloaf and house-made sauces that add an extra kick to the flavorful menu.
A really sweet spot! The atmosphere is chill and welcoming. The food.... Portions are really generous Quality is amazing I had chicken wings and waffles with warm peaches. And cheesy grits. The chicken is so flavourful and the crispy coating is the best! Waffles are stellar! Tried grits for the first time and would definitely recommend. Thanks to the crew working hard putting out top notch meals!

I visited Yo Mama’s for the first time on July 25, 2025, and was impressed by the warm, welcoming atmosphere and excellent customer service. I ordered the Hot Wing Plate, and the wings were huge! The sauce had great flavor, but the wings were a bit larger than I personally prefer. On the plus side, the juice I ordered was absolutely delicious. Overall, it was a good experience, and I’m looking forward to going back to try other dishes on their menu.
Lswilson — Google review
Was looking for a burger place in downtown. Google recommended Yo’ Mama’s. Upon a first arrival, the restaurant was very clean and staffed with pleasant employees. I ordered the barbecue burger minus the barbecue sauce (as I’m not a huge fan of bar sauce on my burgers). Which came with a side of fresh hand, cut fries and added a sweet tea. We sat down and within five minutes, our food was delivered as ordered . I must tell you I’ve eaten burgers in a lot of places, but this was by far one of the best burgers I have had in my life. I don’t know what about the flavor was so good but it was outstanding. The fries had a seasoning on them which complimented everything and the sweet tea was homemade southern sweet tea. my coworker got the fried chicken and said her meal was also delicious. if you’re ever in the area, give these folks a shot you will not be sorry. It might even be on my list for tomorrow’s lunch ( here traveling for work).

I was so impressed to find a restaurant in Birmingham that serves gluten free fried chicken! Flavorful, southern, GF fried chicken! 😋 It was delicious. I was able to eat without worry from meal to dessert. They have GF Mac and cheese in Tuesdays and GF French toast and pancakes on Saturday. The menu is vast and whether you avoid gluten or not there is something for everyone! The service was friendly and informative. Oh and try the in house beverages. They are delicious too. I give a big 👍🏽 because I’ll be back.

Came in town from Seagoville,TX to visit Pastor Mike Jr church and this was one of the restaurants under PMJ picks. We decided to give this place a try and didn't regret it one bit. From the customer service, to the food to the atmosphere. This is a true southern gem. And their in house syrup they make is so good. Make sure if you're in town you check them out. You will not be disappointed.

Okay, but I wouldn’t go back. I had the bbq burger and my husband had the chicken and waffles. I also ordered the sweet tea. It was $3 and came in a plastic bottle so not a sit down type of drink with refills. And the tea was not good. The burger was okay and I liked the fries. The chicken and waffles were really bland with little flavor. The waffle was barely warm and had no crispness to it.

Chez Fonfon is a classic French bistro owned by the renowned chef Frank Stitt. The restaurant offers a comfortable and upscale European-inspired space with antique furnishings, old-fashioned gas lights, and patio seating. It is popular for its extensive wine list and skillful takes on bistro classics such as country pate with pork, steak tartare, and moules et frites.
This restaurant is so good. Probably one of my favorites in Birmingham now. We did not make reservations so we took a seat at the bar on a Saturday evening. We were well taken care of by the bartender, who recommended pairings for what we ordered. We tried the escargot, the bread, the hamburger, and the hanger steak. Everything was delicious and so were the drinks from the bar. Would absolutely be back here.

I had the pleasure of dining at this charming French restaurant during my visit to Birmingham, Alabama, and it was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the food truly delivered on flavor and presentation. The service was excellent—attentive and friendly without being overbearing. One highlight of the meal was the dessert; their walnut cake was absolutely amazing and a must-try! Even though I only visited once, it left a lasting impression. I’d definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a quality French dining experience in Birmingham.

Outstanding! Great experience. Had a great meal and a great time the menu and the food is superb. The staff is wonderful better than some of their competitors and those other higher end places. One of the best restaurants in Birmingham. I will definitely be on the return to this place. The bar staff is amazing. The hosts are very welcoming and great and even assist at bar seating and other options. The Food's a little bit more higher and so that comes with price. They do upsell drinks, but it's worth the experience. My only feedback is the fries were horrible and nasty. Other than that everything was excellent.

A French restaurant in Alabama with authentic French food? Oui, oui! Service was attentive and the timing was spot on. Loved my cocktail, the Indochine. We shared the salad Fonfon, escargot, butternut squash soup of the day (one of the best I’ve ever had), and the smoked salmon tartine. For dinner we had the coq au vin, grilled lamb, gulf fish with ratatouille, and the fish special (swordfish). All the dishes were bursting with flavor and the cooks on the meat and fish were to perfection. For dessert, we had the coconut pecan cake, and it was marvelous. Thank you for transporting me back to France! This was a meal I will relish for a long time.

I ate at one of my most favorite restaurants last week. Chez Fon Fon in Birmingham Alabama. I had reservations and went there with 6 ladies. We had requested an outside table on their beautiful patio. When we got there, we were disappointed that it was not available. But the staff at Chez Fon Fon even after we’d already sat down at a table and ordered our drinks came and got us when a table on the patio became available. They were so kind and nice and they moved us from inside to outside and we had excellent service and a wonderful night on the patio. Most of us ordered the trout because it’s absolutely delicious but somebody ordered the oyster poor boy and liked it. The service was really above and beyond for just such a fine restaurant. We are so lucky to have it in Birmingham.

Solo lunch stop on vacation. I got a table quick at just before 1130. As a solo dinner I didn't get told the specials and noticed the couple next to me getting the menu run down The prices were high for what I got. The kitchen gor slammed and it was a long wait between courses. The couple next to me got an apology and a comp salad and I was left waiting Reservations recommended. The burger and steak fries looked great. My salad and dessert were fantastic. I saw the Croque Madame and glad I didn't order it as it looked less like a traditional sandwich I would return but definitely wouldn't order the tartare or escargot again. They just weren't worth it. They were too far from what I would expect elsewhere

Kind of smaller then some of the Zoo's iv been to but that definitely not a knock on this place it's perfect for smaller kids that want to walk around and not de stuck in the stroller, its packed full of exhibits and lots of animals including a road runner that liked being talked to and was proud to show off his stick, the staff was extremely friendly and willing to talk and educate about their animals, unfortunately i didn't catch her name but had a great conversation with one of the ladies about the two brand new fennec foxes that she had just drove to pick up. There's lots to see and plenty of activities. Great place to spend the day getting to see and learn about from all over the world

I have been to the Birmingham Zoo countless times throughout my life and children's and now my grandchildren. It's a place we have enjoyed many memories together as a family. However, this past visit (Saturday 8/10/25) was disappointing. The wait wasn't bad, there was just one person in front of us in line. The children's discounted price listed online didn't reflect the children's discounted price actually charged (It was just a couple of dollars different, so I let it slide) There weren't hardly any animals. No seals, we didn't see any alligators (like we normally do), there weren't any tigers, there weren't any rhinos, only one male lion, only one zebra, only one elephant. The few animals they did have looked sad and/or agitated (it showed in the eyes, body language, and action). It normally takes us a couple hours to enjoy the zoo but this time it took us around 30 minutes. I was excited to go with my grandson for his first visit to the zoo, but it was disappointing not to be able to see a lot of the animals we love to see. I hope the zoo can acquire various animals and enough so the animals won't be lonely. I hope things turn around,I would hate for a place that holds so many memories to close.

Fun fun place to visit. Lots to see, just make sure you are wearing comfortable shoes. My kids had a blast and walking around to see everything took all day long. Good place to take your kids if you wanna exhaust them. We went for a Halloween event and was BUSY! Place had plenty of activities, face painting, costume parade and all. We all had a blast. Highly recommend- support our local zoo and take your kids for a fun day out

This was my first visit to the zoo in 17 years. I had a blast, even though it was pretty hot in the concession stands are way overpriced. With that said we had a great time.

Thursday in the Fall. They closed food and petting barn before 3pm. Disappointing. A few buildings were sparse, but it seems they are renovating so that will be good soon. Our favorite was the train, flamingos, and feeding giraffe. Definitely a 3 right now, would have been better if we got to pet sheep. JS.
T S — Google review
The zoo was amazing. Feeding the giraffe and the lorikeets was quite an experience. They have a lot of great animals to see and a great kids section of the zoo with a playground, petting zoo, and a little aquarium wall. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the animals.

Small, completely walkable in an hour and half, zoo. Staff is nice. $20 a person seems steep. However, it's scenic and shady.
Daryl N — Google review
Loved our visit, ran into a lovely elephant that just had to have the freshest leaves, so he came really close to the end of the enclosure. Easy layout made it so we saw the whole zoo without having to check the map all the time. loved the fact there were several different viewing areas for all exhibits. If you couldn't see the animals from one side, you walked around to the second viewing area and could see them. This also speaks to the large size habitats the animals had, which made me happy for them.

Gardens
Nestled in the heart of Birmingham, Alabama, the Birmingham Botanical Gardens is a sprawling 67-acre green space that boasts over 12,000 plant species across twenty-five distinct gardens. Visitors can wander through lush landscapes featuring outdoor sculptures, water walls, lily ponds, and more. The gardens offer a diverse range of backdrops for photography enthusiasts and serve as an ideal setting for nature photography or family portraits.
This was one of our favorite highlights from our trip to Alabama. This place is absolutely stunning and amazing. And the best part is it is completely FREE!! Hats off to the city of Birmingham for providing this attraction for the cost of a donation. The grounds were well taken care of and easy to walk. We were a little lost at first then we found our way around. I'd walk this place at least once a week if I lived near it.

The gardens are the perfect place for a fall orchid show! The Alabama Orchid Society recently hosted their annual show there and it was great as always. Lots of beautiful orchids displayed in creative exhibits for the visitors to enjoy. Orchid sales were brisk as buyers were faced with the difficult decision as to which ones to purchase. Such a great dilemma!! Congratulations to the club and the gardens for a fabulous weekend of beauty.

Beautiful gardens! We stopped here on the way back to the airport after a quick visit to UA in Tuscaloosa. So glad we came! First, it’s free (which is impressive for the quality of the gardens). Second, the Japanese gardens were amazing. We go to gardens like this often, whenever we visit a city. These were some of the best.
Aaron C — Google review
This was my first visit to the gardens, and as a newer transplant to Alabama, I couldn’t have asked for a lovelier introduction. I visited on a Saturday morning around 10 a.m., and there was a smaller presence; not overwhelming, just the way I like it. Even without exploring the entire property, we spent nearly two hours wandering the grounds. The rose garden is especially captivating, a fragrant and colorful haven that invites you to linger. The greenhouse, while charming and full of character, could use a bit of extra care for some of its plants though. The Japanese-inspired section, with its graceful bridges, bamboo, and koi pond, was a highlight — tranquil, picturesque, and thoughtfully designed. Every corner of the gardens seems to whisper an invitation to photographers; in fact, we noticed a family having professional portraits taken during our visit. (For those planning similar sessions, it’s worth reviewing the venue’s photography guidelines in advance- see photo) Before leaving, we stopped by the gift shop, which was an absolute delight, filled to the brim with exquisite, one-of-a-kind treasures. I could have easily spent another hour browsing its elegant displays. What a hidden gem, tucked away in the quiet residential streets of beautiful Mountain Brook. A visit here feels like a step into serenity itself.

Great place for a two hour visit before a flight. Fairly easy to get to and lots of free parking. This is a pretty large park with a lot of different areas with various themes or regions of plant species. My favorites were the Japanese Garden and the indoor tropical gardens. But there are paths everywhere, water features, and a lake with Koi and turtles! Nice gift shop that is more like a garden center. Plenty of bathrooms. And this whole place is free! Incredible!
Phillip L — Google review
Birmingham Botanical Gardens is an amazing place that features more natural beauty than I could hope to describe in a single review. Rose gardens, Japanese gardens, vegetable gardens, ponds, and so much more are here, and everything has obviously been cared for by folks who take real pride in their job. The Conservatory/Greenhouse is closed on Mondays, so plan accordingly. If you're looking to clear your head and enjoy the abundant beauty here, I'd recommend showing up early on a weekday. There are plenty of walking trails to explore. The on-site gift shop has something for everyone at any budget. They also offer lots of plants and garden decorations. There is a map available at the entrance as well as a QR code to a map to help you navigate the grounds. Bathrooms are available and are fully functional. I'm already looking forward to the next time!
J H — Google review
So this place was very beautiful in a lot of areas. I was disappointed the zoo was closed on a Monday? Not sure if they’re affiliated but I did see a sign. The store I really liked with the plants, pumpkins etc. I didn’t really care for the customer service from the women in the store working in there. I do believe this gardens could be so much better but hey there’s no fee to get in.

Absolutely so much fun! Great for a nature run! Their gift supplies also had a great selection of nick nacks and plants for my garden!

Game masters like Zack, Shelby, and Tacy provide helpful guidance and enhance the overall experience with their enthusiasm.
Last year, our family played Wild West here and the kids loved it, so we came back to celebrate my birthday with another game last Friday. This time, we tried Kidnapping 2, and it was probably the most diverse and wide-ranging puzzle experience I’ve ever had. The drawers locked with combination locks looked similar at first glance, but each one had a uniquely clever solution. Whoever designed this game is an absolute genius. We managed to escape with just a minute and a half to spare, and that adrenaline rush was truly unforgettable. My only regret is how fast time seemed to fly by in there, and that I forgot to ask if they offer a birthday discount.

This place is the bomb!! So much FUN! We came down for the baseball tournament, and looking for some after ball activity, this is what we stubbles upon. It was a group of 5 of us, 3 adults and 2 kids. First we did the clue, it was so much fun solving the clues, trying to find out who the murder is, we would have won that one if somebody wasn’t to eager to put in the answer since u only get 2 tries. We loved it so much we came back 2 days later to do a different theme, that one did not disappoint either!! If you’re in the area this is a MUST!! The staff was fantastic, there all so cool, and there willing to give a helping hand if needed as well.

If you're on the hunt for a hidden gem in SoHo, look no further than Herradura & Donas! This charming spot is not just about their mouthwatering donuts; they also serve up authentic Mexican street food that will surprise and delight your taste buds. Picture this: you walk in craving coffee, only to discover an array of delicious tacos and some of the best donuts you've ever tasted. The caramel macchiato pairs perfectly with their standout offerings like steak nachos and breakfast burritos.
Awesome breakfast place to stop by. Best burrito size I've seen so far out here. They also have very good donuts its a must go if you haven't gone here 💯

Best breakfast tacos I’ve had since I moved from Texas. Ask for the spicier salsa. Donuts are great too, some unique flavors like orange glazed.

Let me tell you this is one of the best places in town that is becoming my new favorite spot. They have been there 11 years and I wish I had been going there that long. I had the best breakfast burrito of my life here and the service is spectacular. You feel like your home. The food is wonderful the doughnuts are soo good too. Please check them out if you get a chance.

Traveling with a friend and needed coffee, found out I also needed tacos and donuts. Excellent Carmel macchiato Tacos were the surprise at the coffee shop I didn't realize I needed. Donut was one of the best I've ever had. Closely comparable to Biagios in willowick Ohio (give it a search if you're feeling it. cult following) The Oreo donut had a genuinely Oreo filling like glaze. Crazy delicious. Forgot to take a picture of it, but trust me, worth it. One note, the salsas are delicious, but actually have a decent kick. If you like spicy you'll probably not notice, if you dislike spicy just don't add the salsa (still delicious)

Great local donut shoppe in Homewood. The owner and his staff are very friendly and always accessible, that is never in the back. They carry a great selection of donuts and breakfast foods to choose from. What I like is their O henrys coffee. Ohenrys coffee is better than Starbucks or Santos in my opinion. Please go try at least once if passing through.

Have you ever had a craving for Mexican and donuts? Have you ever had this craving and thought I can't possibly get both in the same place! Just had one of the best steak nachos and donut holes a girl could ever had. I also heard they have good breakfast burritos!

Welcome to SoHo's best kept secret! Don't let the name fool you, there's way more than delicious donuts - authentic Mexican street food! You've gotta look hard from street level for this 'hole in the wall', but once you find it, it's actually nice and has lots of unique spaces for cozy conversations. Most seating is 2 per table so I'd get carry out for larger groups. Everything was amazing, yum!

AMAZING donuts! Not sure how I've missed out on this gem! The donuts were fresh and unique flavors. I got 2 dozen for the office and everyone enjoyed them. The strawberry donuts had freshly sliced strawberries on them too. I don't think you can go wrong with any donut here. Add this place top your list of places to try!

3/28/2025 Saturday: This started as a 4-star review but there's room for improvement. Located in Homewood City Hall plaza, the restaurant was easy to find. The hostess gave me the option of where I'd like to sit. I chose a quiet corner with only one couple seated a row over. I asked for a paper menu instead of the QR code. Water arrived before the waitress. My waitress was "G." She pkaced my drink order (which came before I could order my meal). She was patient and explained the various menu options very well. After I placed my drink (Blackberry Mojito) and menu order, I went to the restroom. It was clean but was only one room/one stall. The restroom was spacious and clean with a place to put my bag down. My drink came with light ice as requested. I'm not a fan of spicy sushi but the spice on the Spiro roll was minimal (I'm still not a fan of chili powder on sushi). The nigiri was fresh and average sized. "G" stopped by my table a few times but let me work on my phone. When another couple was seated next to me (I was at a double table), she was equally courteous towards them . I would suggest that when possible, not to place your back (particularly when buttocks are table height) towards a customer (she could have spoke to them from the other side of their table and not squeezed between tables). "G" checked to see if I wanted dessert and explained the options well. Payment is by machine, which impersonalizes the process. Also, there is no cash discount/no card fees. I tapped "No tip" (I always tip in cash) when I paid by card and asked for a paper receipt. "G" said "Ok" but must have seen the "No Tip" because when she brought the receipt back she barely spoke, didn't look at me, and MIGHT have said "Thank you" as her spin was so quick it left me confused. As I was getting up from the table, "G" returned to the couple's table and addressed them from the other side so I could get out. I had to speak to her in order to place her tip in her apron. She said "Thank you" and I exited the restaurant.

Jinsei is a must-visit, and if you get Kevin, consider yourself lucky!"

Waiter was openly hostile, disrespectful, condescending and degrading as he openly mocked me to the point of breaking words into syllables he would sounded out to me as I was was a child while glaring at me with disgust. I stood up said : I want none of this I am leaving. My husband said : yes, go now I will meet you at the car. He was given the bill, signed it, left zero tip and included a note about the rudeness. We will never go back nor will we spend any time wondering “why” he was so hateful. It is not my responsibility to account for the pathology of a toxic person. It is my responsibility to reject it, remove myself from it and walk on. Period.

Over Easy is a retro diner in Birmingham that serves up delicious breakfast, lunch, and brunch options. Their menu features classic dishes like eggs Benedict, oatmeal pancakes, and huevos rancheros. The restaurant offers something for everyone with local grits and sausage on the menu as well as affordable options like biscuits and gravy for just $8 which comes with a cup of fresh fruit.
The food was really great. It was very fresh and they have a lot of unique choices. The oatmeal pancakes were really good and they have delicious biscuits. The service was also fantastic, especially considering how short handed they were due to the labor shortage. They still worked hard to get us our food quickly and refreshed our coffee frequently.

Went here for breakfast and enjoyed it very much. We had the Pepe Le French Toast and the Biscuits n' Gravy. The French Toast was great with sausage and bacon. There wasn't too much cream cheese between the French Toast but enough so that syrup really isn't needed. The biscuits n' gravy were good but the gravy was somewhat bland. Also, I prefer having sausage bits in my sausage gravy but there was none in this particular type. For some this may be good but for me, it left me a little wanting. Still this was a good atmosphere and good food.

Another Broken Egg Cafe is a casual chain that offers a variety of egg dishes and breakfast items, making it the perfect spot to start your day. Whether you're craving eggs benedict or hearty pork sausages, their friendly staff ensures your coffee stays hot and your orange juice cold. What sets this cafe apart is its early opening hours, allowing you to enjoy a delicious breakfast even before most restaurants are open.
The food was amazing and the coffee is strong. Our waitress, Devin, was wonderful, sweet, and very helpful, she definitely made the already great experience amazing. Thank you!

Our server Devan was kind. I was excited to try this place after looking at the menu but the food was super disappointing! The scrambled eggs were prepared soft as requested, but had absolutely no flavor and watery. The grits were soupy and flavorless. I ordered them with cheese and they were still very thin and even after adding salt: a thumbs down. The Monterey Omelette was made with egg white and I’ve had good egg white omelettes before but this one turned out watery and lacked flavor, once again. At this point I was tired of trying the food and didn’t want to complain anymore so I just ate it. The verdict is out on the beignets as of now; I took them to go but it was a LOT of powdered sugar compared to beignets I’ve had in the past. The Strawberry Pound Cake French Toast was good but it’s literally just pound cake with strawberries, whipped cream and hard sprinkles of sugar on top. It’s not like it’s a French toast style rather just cake cut up. I want to give them another try cause maybe it was an off day for them, but I may try other breakfast places nearby first.

I had the Chicken and Waffles. The Waffle was pretty good but the chicken was fried a little too long. My Mother ordered the pancakes with bacon, eggs and grits. She had to send it back because it was cold when she got it. One Sister had the Shrimp and Grits with a Waffle on the side and my other Sister had French Toast with a nice berry arrangement. My Niece had the Shrimp and Grits also. They all seemed to enjoy their food.

We had a breakfast date at Another Broken Egg Cafe, and overall it was a really great experience. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the place was spotless — you could tell cleanliness is a priority here. Service was perfect from start to finish: attentive, friendly, and quick without feeling rushed. Grim ordered her eggs over hard, and they did come out a pretty runny, which was the only small hiccup in the meal. Everything else, though, was spot on. As first-time customers, we were treated to a complimentary half order of beignets, which was such a fun surprise and a sweet way to start the morning. Overall, the service and presentation more than made up for the minor egg issue, and I’d definitely come back again. It’s a great spot for a cozy breakfast date, especially with little touches like the beignets that make the experience memorable.

Quite a lot of New Orleans-inspired breakfast/brunch spots around the area, and finally got around to trying this one. Glad we did! Very extensive menu (with lunch options, too). Airy cafe vibes, with a lovely little tree-shaded patio out front. The wait can be long (over an hour) on the weekend; take advantage of their online waitlist! Food was ready pretty quickly, though, considering how busy they were. Ordered the cinnamon roll french toast and strawberry pound cake french toast. Both come with 2 eggs anystyle and choice of meat (bacon, housemade sausage patties, chicken apple sausage linls, or andouille). We got over medium w/ andouille and scrambled eggs w/ chicken sausage, respectively. The cinnamon rolls were fantastic, and both sausages were great. The pound cake was good, but didn't really feel like french toast, just lightly griddled. The scrambled eggs were a bit overcooked, though, and unfortunately they were running low on whipped cream. Not a perfect showing, but good enough that we're up for coming back to try some of the other items we couldn't order this time!

Day 3

Off the beaten path
For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Homewood Central Park. Not quite as popular as Birmingham Botanical Gardens, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 7 hours.

Vulcan Park and Museum is a must-visit destination that beautifully encapsulates Birmingham's rich industrial heritage. Dominating the skyline, the impressive 56-foot statue of Vulcan, crafted by Italian artist Giuseppe Moretti, stands proudly atop Red Mountain. This remarkable figure symbolizes the city's historical significance in iron and steel production and has been an iconic landmark since the 1930s.
I walked the Vulcan trail just to get some exercise, but decided to go on up to the park. It is beautiful and clean. I didn’t go into the museum this time, but will definitely hit it next time. The VIEWS up there are SPECTACULAR!! There are tables and benches in the area of the statue. IMPORTANT INFO if you’re coming in through the trail: the gates are locked at 4pm!!! I missed that sign as I took in the beautiful scenery. Thankfully, the kind security officer there named Andrew was willing to let me through the gate to get back to the trail (that leads me back toward my home). I was so thankful he was willing to do that for me! He certainly didn’t have to.

We have always enjoyed our visits to the Vulcan. It is the best view in Birmingham. The museum is great for folks who want to learn more about the history of The Steel City and history of the Vulcan. The scavenger hunt for children is very fun and a nice little touch to add to the experience. The gift shop has a nice variety of souvenirs and gifts at a reasonable price. Be sure and get a squished penny from the crank machine as you’re leaving, it will cost ya two quarters and of course, one penny. It’s a wonderful keepsake. The restrooms are very clean and well stocked and there’s a water fountain that is in working order and very clean. The trip to the top of the Vulcan consists of 108 stairs, if you choose to skip the elevator or it isn’t working. It’s worth the climb. Go at sunset you’ll see beauty that’s unexplainable. The meeting spaces are perfect for conferences and really any social or corporate event. I have attended several here and they’re always beautiful and fun with plenty of space for guests, catering, and all vendors to operate. It’s a beautiful setting.

I learned a lot about the history of Birmingham, the mining & iron making. I walked up the entire tower by staircase, as the elevator seemed fast & I have a fear of heights. The balcony around the top is very high, you can see THROUGH the walkway to the ground beneath you & I heard it creek a bit. This is not for those with a height issue, but it is beautiful to come & see from the ground & learn it's history. Even at the foot of the statue you can see downtown Birmingham. I enjoyed it.

My visit to the Vulcan Statue and Park was an absolute highlight of my trip to Birmingham. Not only is the iconic statue itself an impressive piece of history, representing the city's industrial past, but the entire complex offers so much more. The observation tower provides absolutely incredible panoramic views of the entire Birmingham skyline and the surrounding Red Mountain area – truly a photographer's dream, especially around sunset. The museum, while not huge, is surprisingly well-done and informative, giving you a deeper understanding of Vulcan's significance. The grounds are beautifully maintained, making it a pleasant place for a walk. It's easy to get to, with ample parking, and offers a fantastic blend of education and memorable scenery. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to truly experience Birmingham!

Hands down the best view of Birmingham. The view from the top is 360 degrees and is wonderful. Be sure to check out the museum for some of the regional history. Visit the Lone Pine mine while you are there to get a sense of what life was like in the early days of Birmingham.

Nice park to visit with views of the greater Birmingham area. The museum has good exhibits on the foundry history of the city as well as the history of the civil rights era. Easy to get to , easy access to the area. The park area is freezing there's a fee to go up the pedestal and the museum. I thought it was cool and worth it.

Dog friendly and have a super cool hiking trail. Found my peach in life here High recommend for having a good time No need for tickets for hanging around
Savanna L — Google review
I hate to give this only 4 stars as it was a awesome site to see. What I was extremely disappointed about was the elevator was broken and they wasn't discounting tickets or anything. I really wanted to go to the top, but as we were vacationing and had already walked miles, my legs just wasn't up to take the stairs all the way up. Enjoyed seeing it and the grounds. Maybe next time I'm through Birmingham, the elevator will be working and I can go up.

Homewood Central Park, located next to the Homewood community center, is a peaceful and tranquil space offering lush green areas for picnics, frisbee games, and kite flying. The park features a large playground for kids and six pavilions with picnic tables. Additionally, there are amenities such as an amphitheater, tennis courts, and a walking path. Visitors appreciate the clean and family-friendly environment with ponds, walking trails, lawn spaces for games, benches, and picnic tables.
♿️ Beautiful park in the middle of Homewood. The walking track is about the size of a city block. But, there is a splash pad for the kids and huge playground. It was very busy while there. Lots of pavilions and benches. Beautiful stonework bridge. And these is a small creek. It is handicap accessible for mobility issues. The restrooms are near by and accessible by wheelchair. They also have an AED nearby. There is a rock amphitheater and just a huge concrete area that I couldn't quite figure out what it's use could possibly be. There were also nearby tennis courts. Good place to check out if you haven't been, well maintained, and it's right in the middle of everything.

Needing to find an hour to kill in Homewood we found the central park. My kids had so much fun. I was truly surprised to see the park had a water side, playground, and a walking trail. Homewood Central Park is how all parks should be. I was just visiting but the engagement and friendliness of the kids and parent support with watching the kids was cool. I would visit again whenever I'm in town. The park was full but I tried my best to not capture any other kids but my own.

This was a childhood park of mine, and a good one at that too, it has certainly been revamped over the years so let's explore what we have to see what has changed. They even have a pool next to the park too but that's a separate review so let's save it for next time. Environment: There is a trail that goes around in a circle and a playground for the kids, the playground has changed a lot, I saw construction on it the last time and I was like, hmm they are probably making it better and they delivered with more and more entertainment. There is also a creek too and a beautiful mini waterfall, watch out for the snakes! 🤣👍 Overall, I would recommend this park to any and all people of ages looking for some fun in Homewood, Alabama. 💯

Loved this pool. Great kid are & the bigger pool had the "beach" area with a slow decline into the deeper water. Nice snack bar, abundant amounts of chairs for families, a good number of attentive lifeguards. One unfortunate event was a baby going up the baby slide in front of us has diarrhea coming out of his diaper top & bottom. We scooped up our kids & went to tell the staff. They jumped on the situation, emptied the entire pool for 30 min while they cleaned & tested the water! None of us got sick or anything so the cleanup must've worked!

Such a great park! There is one fenced in area specifically for children with swings, playsets, etc, and another large grassy area with walking trails. The children's area has unique features such as dinosaurs and rock climbing. Clean public restrooms, picnic tables.

Barbecue restaurant
Saw's BBQ is a popular barbecue joint in Birmingham, known for its snug and cozy atmosphere filled with signs and sports memorabilia. With multiple locations to choose from, including the original Saw's and the newer Saw's Juke Joint, this establishment has built an impressive reputation in the local BBQ scene. The service is efficient and friendly, offering delicious and reasonably priced meats such as perfectly seasoned barbecued chicken in white sauce, tender ribs, and mouthwatering pulled pork.
I knew this place was gonna be good once I opened the door and smelled the smoke.. ribs were tasty and tender, the pulled pork was so delicious and tender the chicken with Alabama white sauce was FIRE! Potato salad was awesome hell even the sliced bread was great here! I was so pleased with everything I bought a t-shirt highly recommend this place!
David T — Google review
Came from out of state. The first thing I did was look at reviews and ask locals about good bbq. After making the decision to eat at Saw's, I had my next challenge of which one. With different menus, it was hard to choose, but the ribs were the deciding factor for me, so we went to Homewood and boy were they worth it! My family sampled the ribs (great - fall off the bone), pulled pork (great - moist/not dry), chicken (great - loved the white sauce), beans (good), potato salad (great), deviled eggs (ok), Mac n cheese (good) & greens (ok). Overall, very pleased and I would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone that wants to try some great bbq.

Found them based on a tip from a friend. Food was above average and served quickly. The location was fun with a lot of options for food and fun. Staff could have been a bit more outgoing.

Fast service and fast delivery. The pulled pork plate had a nice portion with good flavor and tender meat. Baked beans seasoned well. I loved the fresh deviled eggs. Nostalgic Alabama football decor.
Brian N — Google review
I am a BBQ connoisseur, and the BBQ at Saw's is the best I've ever eaten. The pulled pork and brisket are outstanding. Delicious smoky flavor, and if you want to add sauce it's all good. For appetizer, you have to try the fried pork rinds with pimento cheese topped with pepper jelly. The pork rinds are freshly fried and the combination of the pimento and pepper jelly is so good your taste buds will slap you.

Jordan Jackson and the Catering Team at Saw's Cahaba Heights is top-notch!! Very responsive, communicative, and *always* delivers the best food and service. We've Saw's Juke Joint for many corporate lunches and will definitely be using them again. 10/10 experience every. single. time. I would absolutely recommend using them for your catering needs!
Marina W — Google review
Overall the restaurant and my experience was decent for making a to-go order. I realize that this was the original location for Saw's but I was disappointed to know that there were a few items on the menu that I wanted to order and that I had tried at other Saw's locations around Birmingham but they weren't on the menu at this location. The BBQ chicken sandwich was good, the service was fast and the atmosphere was decent because there were only a handful of people there when I visited so that was good for timing.

Farmers Markets
The Farmers Market at Pepper Place in Birmingham is a popular outdoor market that takes place every Saturday, rain or shine. It offers a wide variety of fresh and healthy foods from local farmers and food producers. In addition to shopping for produce, visitors can enjoy live music, cooking demonstrations, and browse through handmade local goods from over a hundred vendors. The market provides an opportunity to meet the people who grow the goods and is a great place to spend a Saturday morning with plenty of things to see and do.
Produce is from local growers who live within an hour of the market. The vibe is ❤️ 😍, "real chill". Just remember like many markets of this sort it is VERY VERY busy and crowded (think concert but for food:). Speaking of which, there's now live music! Too, normally if you're not there by 7 am when it opens, maybe 7:30, you will be driving and circling around to find a parking spot.

Freakin' outstanding! Produce was BEAUTIFUL! Breakfast choices were 'a plenty! (Nice to find a Bloody Mary!) Prices seemed fair enough... I wish we were more local so we could have taken advantage of the delicious looking fruits & veggies! As an aside - this place is 1000% better than an airport terminal for people watching. LOL! When baseball brings us back to the area, we'll return to the market!

So glad the farmer’s market is opening up during the week. I’m never able to make it on Saturdays, but today (Tuesday) my family and I had an awesome time. Vendors were really nice and took time explaining their products. Can’t wait to visit again!

Located in Southside, Regions Field is a minor league baseball stadium and the home of the Birmingham Barons. The stadium features a spacious 360-degree concourse offering state-of-the-art views from every seat. In addition to hosting thrilling baseball games, it offers various concessions including local eats, family-friendly activities like inflatables and face painting, as well as interactive areas such as the St. Vincents Youth Sports Zone and Foundry Family Park.
Great experience at Regions Field to watch the Birmingham Barons. Somehow we ended up at a double header which was a nice surprise. They ended up playing two 7 inning games. This is a huge ballpark for a double A team. Unfortunately the crowd size was pretty small this night. Ticket prices were reasonable and we were able to find on the street parking for free a short walk from the field. Overall excellent experience.

Great ballpark for AA baseball. Pretty cool to see the Barons who have a very rich baseball history. Ballpark was easy to access, has lots of restaurants nearby, parking was a breeze paid 10 dollars to park a block away from the field. Great fans, friendly people, and an awesome historic baseball brand.

The ball park is welcoming, clean, and there is no bad seat. The tickets are priced amazing and the staff is great. I plan to see a lot more Barons games I had a blast.

Regions Field in downtown Birmingham is a modern, fan-friendly ballpark that has quickly become a cornerstone of the city’s sports and entertainment scene. Home to the Birmingham Barons, the stadium combines classic baseball charm with modern amenities, offering an experience that appeals to both die-hard fans and casual visitors. The seating is designed for great sightlines from nearly every angle, and the open concourse allows fans to move around freely while still catching the action on the field. Concessions feature a mix of traditional ballpark fare and local favorites, making it a great place to sample regional flavors while enjoying a game. The stadium also hosts concerts, community events, and family-friendly activities, giving it a lively, year-round appeal. One standout feature is the atmosphere: the energy from the crowd, combined with the scenic downtown skyline in the background, creates a fun and memorable experience. Parking and accessibility are generally straightforward, though event nights can get busy. Whether you’re a baseball enthusiast or just looking for a fun outing in Birmingham, Regions Field delivers a perfect blend of sport, community, and entertainment in a welcoming environment.

We saw a Tuesday night Barons game recently and it was my sons first time going. The complex is super nice and every seat is a good seat. We were selected for one of the games they play on the field called the cape toss and competed against another father and son. Glad to report we won by a big margin. Between the good hot dogs, the games, and a close game it really was a very good experience.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ UAB Children’s Imaging Review From start to finish, our experience was seamless and affirming. Check-in was friendly, kind, and efficient, and the entire team handled everything with care and professionalism. Parking was validated—such a relief! There are some people who work with UAB Birmingham who were actually very helpful and very kind however there were a few people who worked there who were also a little rude and didn't say excuse me at all. I find it quite rude when I'm from Alabama and I don't get any type of kindness in return..

I suffered an injury working there. Spent 22 hours in the ED. Now I am home in Texas and they refuse to send a referral to my clinic here so I can continue rehab. They are a complete joke. My PCP has called and they refuse to give him any information as well. DO NOT SEEK ANY MEDICAL CARE AT THIS HOSPITAL. Again, they are a complete joke. Rachael on floor 5 is the rudest person I have ever met. My arm has suffered atrophy since I cannot receive further care. UAB has a joke of a staff! I am fully insured so that's not an issue. They are non cooperative.

I built my own burrito and LOVED it, good size and unlimited toppings, Mac and cheese wasn’t that great but the guacamole is. My boyfriend got street tacos with steak and wasn’t the biggest fan. Staff was very friendly and there was no wait for a table on a Friday night, food didn’t take long either. Super nice place, definitely going back for a burrito soon.

I ordered the chicken burrito with a side of street corn, and both were excellent! The burrito was packed with flavor, and you can load it up with as many toppings as you want at no extra cost. It’s so big that you could easily split it between two people. The street corn was delicious as well. Overall, this spot is definitely worth checking out, great food and great value for the price!

It’s nice to walk in, have the menu and you get to order your food, and go to your table. So it’s a different method of placing an order. We do quite a bit of catering orders for various groups ranging from 5-30 people. We use multiple restraints based on the cuisine preference of that group and taco mama is a very popular request. My first experience with this location was yesterday as we put in an order for beef and chicken taco bar, a premium quesadilla tray, salsa, queso, and guacamole too. We also provided sweet tea and I sweat tea. There were plenty of toppings for the taco bar and they provided more than enough chips with the order too. Our clients were more than happy with the spread by the time we had everything picked up and delivered but I want to make a special shout out to the employees who help me load it into my car. Kyle, Melissa, and Aaron. They were extremely helpful and polite, the order also was perfectly on time ready. Will definitely be using this location for our future taco mama requests because they service was great and the food order was perfect !!!! Wish that 10/5 stars was a rating option.

Everything was amazing start to finish . Wr sat at the chefs table, which I recommend. Seeing all the dishes come out and being prepared was so entertaining..We had the bread and asparagus for appetizers, both were delicious. We had the pompano and snapper for entrees and the fish was cooked perfectly. The sides were fresh and delicious. The good was plated beautifully. We ended with Samoa tart. . Perfection! Wr both had cocktails from the cocktail.menu and they were so good. Our server was friendly and attentive . I just can't say enough about how great this place is.

Not the best experience- which was sorely disappointing as I’ve always heard great things about this place. Ordered the $10 bread service (herb butter was just okay, even some sea salt would’ve made a difference), and the okra basket. Very average stuff for the price point. The server informed us that the kitchen was backed up (which was strange as it was not packed) so we waited a while for our food. I ordered the low country grouper and my husband ordered the steak. My fish came out wrong the first time and they had to take it back. It was okay- again, very average. His steak was cooked great- but why is it cut up into pieces? Ruins the flavor and causes some of the pieces to turn a little tough. The wine I had was good- but we skipped out on dessert and decided to head on out, after a very meh experience for $150+. If you’re in Birmingham, I would recommend Automatic over this place.

We made reservations and travelled to Birmingham to celebrate my hubby’s birthday. While making online reservations I documented and shared that we were celebrating his birthday. However, the hostess nor the server acknowledged the occasion. The server was not attentive, for example I requested water more than once, where an attentive wait staff would pay attention to patrons glasses at their table. There was a delay in general at our table. The restaurant was not busy at the time. My husband and daughter ordered beverages that they were satisfied. The food was the best of my experience at the restaurant. The chef had great culinary skills. I would recommend that the manager, make more of an effort to greet patrons in general, this would be great customer service, as they patronize and celebrate special occasions at the establishment. The chef did have time to run out to the patio as we were departing and greet, I suppose one of the regular patrons. However, if customer friendly service were more in line with the quality of the food, I would recommend it to family and friends. However these two go hand in hand.

In my opinion one of the best restaurants in Birmingham. The food was excellent. You feel like you made a journey to europe. We had the delicious beef Tatar and the tomato salat. We can highly recommend for the entree the duck and the lamp career. Both meats were absolutely on point and perfectly cocked. The chocolate soufflé made us feel like we were in Paris. Our server Kevin was attended and very friendly. It's not a cheap restaurant, but it's worth every cent.

Great meal with my wife before the the Tina Turner musical at the BJCC. Also, celebrating our anniversary and my wife's birthday. We had 5:00 p.m. reservations and we were seated promptly. Enjoyed the ambiance of sitting at the chef's counter. Provided wonderful service by our server Ryan, our server assistant Kezia, and Niko. The food was excellent starting with the opening act Pork Tamale. For the Big Show my wife ordered the Low Country Yellow Edge Grouper. Loved the presentation I ordered the Wood Fired Hanger Steak. We both enjoyed our selections. For the Closing Act we shared the Elton's Chocolate Soufflé. Loved the presentation. Top notch ambiance, food, and service.

This restaurant is supposed to be one of the best in Birmingham, however, it was wildly overpriced. The vibe/atmosphere is great, especially sitting at chefs bar to watch them make the food. We split an entree, 2 apps, 1 dessert and only got 1 drink each and spent $90 a person. The tomato stack was amazing, everything else was average - don’t get the crudo - much too salty/fishy. Would go back for tomato stack & cocktails alone but not for dinner.

We brought our new Your Choice Senior Care franchisees from Austin, TX to eat here last night, and it was the most impressive experience you could hope or wish for from a high end food establishment like Hot & Hot Fish Club. The service and menu is beyond compare, and our new owners are still talking about their experience there last night. Chef is a true culinary artisan!

Got to enjoy the delicious cocktails before the with the beef Tartare and Surf&Turf appetizer before digging into the seared Magret Duck Breast. My husband also let me sample the Ancho-Rubbed Iberico Pork Chop. The meat was tender and cooked how I asked. The service was attentive but also didn't hover. We had reservations with our friends from out of town on the patio and definitely enjoyed our food immensely.

The Grocery Brewpub is a fantastic spot in Homewood with a lively atmosphere and great food and drink options. The pub offers an array of delicious brews and tasty food items, including blackened salmon, shrimp po'boys, and veggie burgers. The staff is known for being friendly, down-to-earth, and attentive, making visitors feel like part of the family. In addition to the inviting ambiance, guests can enjoy live music performances on most nights.
I had a delicious blackened salmon on greens. Friends had blackened shrimp poboys & veggie burgers. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Wait staff was short, but our hostess made waitress was friendly & worked hard to get us our meals & drinks promptly. Neat atmosphere. Be sure to eat here, it’s a great choice for a meal out!

Prices are inconsistent. They don’t honor their own posters and bartender will argue over things they put up in the wall. Dos xx advertised for 3 really charge 5 and Bushwacker at happy hour 5 but they charge 10 at 1530.

The Grocery seemed to be going through a lot on St. Paddy’s day. I agree it isn’t the best day of the year to judge a bar, but I expected the basics—food and drink—to be covered. “Brewpub”, after all, does refer to both food and drink. There seemed to be three staff members working, and the bar just couldn’t keep up. Wait times on food were staggering; my burger took an hour and ten minutes. I imagine The Grocery is a decent lunch spot, but steer away when the college crowd shows up.

Great selection of brew and of the few food items I tried they were all delicious and tasted exactly what I expected when I ordered. The staff is so friendly, down to earth and helpful. They have multiple high quality pool tables and host live music. Definitely a great pub in Homewood.

Italian restaurant
Bottega is an intimate restaurant located in a historic Beaux-Arts building, offering a refined dining experience that combines the flavors of Italian cuisine with Southern ingredients. The restaurant features a dark wood, sleek dining room as well as outdoor tables for a more casual atmosphere. Additionally, there is an attached Cafe with a wood-burning oven. Executive Chef Frank Stitt's creations at Bottega bring together the bold flavors of Italian cuisine and Southern fare to create something truly special.
First experienced and it was perfect to celebrate our 2 years anniversary. Food was great, my bf is picky eater but he ate them all since starter to dessert. Roasted veal tenderloin was the bomb! Would love to come back again and try another menu 🥰 Dont forget to reserve first if you wanna sit in their dinning room side!

My wife and I went to Bottega Cafe on Friday, July 11, and I had the fish of the day.Salmon and I have had much better at another place. My wife liked her dish rock shrimp risotto. The waitress was nice but she had a bad smell to her. The sitting area is so close that you can hear others' conversations. The waitress did tell me the pork chop is to die for. I will try this place again. We will try the nighttime at Bottega, and another try at the cage as well.

Our dining experience at this restaurant was exceptional. Ivan, our server, was exceptionally courteous and attentive, consistently exceeding our expectations. As food enthusiasts celebrating our honeymoon, we were thoroughly impressed by the culinary offerings. We commenced our meal with the tagliolini, my husband opted for the lamb chops, and I indulged in the yellowfin tuna. We highly recommend this establishment for a memorable dining experience.

Bottega is truly one of Birmingham’s hidden gems. The red snapper, grouper, and lamb were each masterfully prepared—elevating fresh, vibrant flavors into something unforgettable. Every plate felt like a work of art, both in taste and presentation. The old fashioneds were exceptional, balanced and refined, making them the perfect complement to the meal. Between the warm, sophisticated atmosphere and the impeccable service, Bottega offers an experience that is as memorable as it is delicious.

Excellent, but probably slightly overrated. Ordered the Bolognese and it was extremely salty. The sausage that came with it already had salt in it and then they must’ve added more or dropped box of salt into it by mistake. Very pricing lotta up of people that think there’s something more than they are, and they might be something more than they are. Bartenders and serving staff almost have the same attitude. The bartender guy didn’t acknowledge me for almost 15 minutes sitting there then he was kind enough after cleaning and wiping zero people spots then said what can I do for you. What? What you can do for me is welcoming offer me a menu or what my intentions are if I’d like a drink or not.Whatever anyway it’s a good place. If you want to treat yourself or you enjoy such.

We stopped in before seeing a show with our two boys and weren't sure if we would be welcome as this is a fancy place. But they were so gracious and the food was amazing. The manager himself came over and showed our 11 and 9 year olds cool tricks on the table cloth and chatted to us - it was a lovely last night for us during our first time in Australia. Highly recommend!

My meal was an absolute delight from start to finish - every dish was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection, leaving us with a lingering taste of pure culinary bliss. The corn chowder and trigger fish was a standout, with perfectly balanced spices and fresh ingredients that danced on the palate. I couldn't resist cleaning our plates, and will definitely be back to explore more of their incredible menu! Our server was awesome!!
