Garden
Filoli Historic House & Garden is a charming early-20th-century country estate and botanic garden that offers docent-led tours. The entrance fee is reasonable, with discounted prices for seniors and youth, making it accessible to all. The estate's beautiful house provides an opportunity to delve into its rich history, while the colorful and serene garden offers a perfect place to relax.
It was really fun Sunday experience with the kids. There are trolls around the woods each specializes in something unique to nature preservation. The garden is beautiful as it has always been and nicely kept. We took a tour inside the mansion as well, it was very well maintained. Highly recommend for family day trip!

A very nice place to visit. You can join as member or pay when you visit. I have been here couple of times mostly summer. Yesterday visit was nice as it has Halloween 🎃 theme and trolls. It was a nice walking under the on and off rain and warm. This place is nice to visit with ftiends and families and has walking trail beside the garden.
Dharma M — Google review
Great fun for adults and kids! Nothing scary besides the cakes in the kitchen. Lots of pumpkins with quite designs. Pumpkins are not real but they have to last a month so not surprising. The house is gorgeous, be sure to look closely at the various Halloween decorations they put out. Also the Cafe food is fantastic!
Michael M — Google review
We’ve been members for years and experienced a number of special events. Nightfall and the Trolls did not disappoint! The attention to detail and special decor make every visit a true joy! We highly recommend visiting anytime as every season brings something new and special to see.
Jennifer W — Google review
We had the best experience here for Nightfall! Pretty pricey but we enjoyed everything. Yummy food, good drinks, amazing decor and activities. Can’t wait to come back and explore the grounds during other seasonal events.
Jennifer M — Google review
The gardens are wonderful. Well maintained. Excellent place to see mature plants and get a better idea of how they will be in your gardens. Lovely place to spend an afternoon. There are trails that are fairly easy. We enjoyed walking through the redwoods, over the creek, and being in the quiet spaces of the woods. There’s a nice area to have a picnic as well.
Linda J — Google review
The gardens are absolutely stunning. The pathways are very walkable and there's plenty of benches if you need to sit for a minute, we went on a warm day. After 2 hours we viewed only about a quarter of the grounds and the full portion of the house that was open. The house was opulent but inviting. There was a casual grace to the rooms that made it seem very comfortable. I can imagine what living there would have looked like. The task specific kitchen areas were to be envied. Wowza! It would have been wonderful if more of the home was viewable. The experience could be improved if they added additional restroom locations. We had an issue with admission. We paid at one entrance but the restrooms were outside the ticket location for a different entrance. We used it ans walked back k and and were stopped. The woman at the booth We purchased admission from forgot to give us wristbands. It should have been a simple fix, we had an email confirmation but the gal who stopped us was really rude about it as if we were sneaking in. After we showed her the email proof she never even bothered to apologize for her attitude.
T. A — Google review
The Nightfall event was awesome! I highly recommend bringing your family and friends. Staff, performers and food vendors were wonderful. They pulled off Halloween really well! 🎃 Hope they make this a recurring event every year. I wouldn't mind if they up the fear factor for adults, include scare actors or haunt attraction.

History Museums
Woodside Store Park is a historical museum that was once a general store serving lumbermen in the 1800s. It now houses period items and operates as a museum, with special events like Woodside Store day in May. Visitors have found it to be an unexpected and informative surprise, with friendly and knowledgeable docents who provide insights into the area's history. The park is filled with original antiques from bygone eras, including sewing machines predating Singer models.
We had lunch nearby and wanted to go for a walk instead. We found this place. It was was a neat surprise. There is so much in there that you wouldn't even have known about this area. The docent was amazing. He had so much information. And there was a chance encounter with the local who lives down the street and so it felt like a little bit of a community as well. I bet this place would be really good for kids. In fact, I think he said that they bring school trips here and the absolutely love it.

Menlo Country Club is a top-notch destination for golf enthusiasts, featuring an 18-hole championship course designed by renowned architect Alister MacKenzie. Situated on 140 acres of pristine woodlands, the club offers a challenging layout and breathtaking scenery, catering to players of all levels. The well-maintained grounds make it a sought-after location for events and fundraisers. Visitors praise the beautiful surroundings and newly renovated clubhouse with its panoramic views.
Went to a charity event here, and man this place has some beautiful grounds. And that's about all I can say about that.

A well maintained asset. I'm sure they are macro fundraising/elite benefits to having this central organizing force next to Woodside and Atherton. However I can't help but dream for these grounds eventually to become a normal public park. Or the golf course could pay normal property taxes. Either or but I would prefer the park.

Coffee shop
The Little Store Restaurant is a charming eatery with a cozy exterior resembling a small home and adorned with red and white checkered tablecloths. It offers a delightful blend of French and American cuisine, featuring dishes like burgers, BBQ pulled pork, and tuna melts. Locals appreciate the restaurant for its hearty, reliable food served in a comforting atmosphere. The quality of the food and wine is commendable, with an array of vegetarian options available.
I’ve driven by and loved this venue for years. Now, for the first time, the inside is as beautiful as the outside. Today my whole family met here for breakfast for the first time as The Little Store 2.0, completely reimagined with a beautiful new menu to celebrate our wedding announcement. Everything was perfect!!! We tried every item on the menu, had 5 star service and left looking forward to coming back. The food was spectacular, the atmosphere was spot on and the staff and service, was just…very special. Thank you to The Little Store and everyone who touched our experience today, it was magical. 🩷

Nice little restaurant. great food. A nice place to ING out. Friendly atmosphere. One thing I have to say the service needs some improvement.!!!!

A real gem in the heart of Woodside! The staff here are super friendly and welcoming. The sandwiches are bursting with flavor, and the coffee is top notch. Don't even get me started on the pastries-they're absolutely delicious. I also spotted some fresh salads and healthy grab-and-go cups, perfect if you're in a hurry. Definitely a place I'll be coming back to!
Horacio D — Google review
Love having more coffee options in Woodside. The decor is bright and airy, lots of flowers. Latte was good, they have a La Marzocco and Mazzer grinders. Several seating options. I parked on the street across, ran to Huddart then looped back for coffee.
Ana R — Google review
Great atmosphere but the service was very slow and the food was not fresh. I got a chicken club and the bread was rock hard and the chicken was cold. The salad we ordered took 20mins to come out and was disappointing. This place has potential but they need to iron it out a bit.
Kevin K — Google review
Sandwiches reminded us of being in France. Specialty lattes are lovely as well. Grateful to have this new addition to woodside! We needed it as the local dining are all great but always busy. This is a much needed bonus. Very nice atmosphere and staff. Service and professionalism was top notch.
Jamie P — Google review
I was excited it reopened. Please note that some of the pictures are from the previous restaurant dishes and menu. The remodel made it very welcoming, the decor is fresh and the cashier very friendly. Although there was no line to order, we waited at least 20 minutes for a cold chicken sandwich on very rustic baguette (we were expecting a triple-decker made with toasted soft bread because they called it a club sandwich) and a warm cheese sandwich. The cheese sandwich was spicy, I should have noted and looked up the "cowboy candy" in the description. Mild enough but saddly not what I was expected. Maybe a word from the cashier about those bread change and spiciness would have helped. Nothing was bad per say, but nothing was great either, they are probably working kinks out. Also, it feels like food trends may be what the menu offering is about. I expect my kids would probably have enjoyed it more than us. We had 1 coke and 2 basic sandwiches. Total was around $43 with 15% tip. You order, pay and sit. We would have taken our empty plates and glasses to the basket apparently there for used dishes, but it was overflowing. We noticed glasses and water on the same small table when it was time to leave. We will wait a while before going back or try coffees next time instead. So close to home, we want it to be great.

Fine dining restaurant
The Village Pub is a high-end American restaurant that attracts a sophisticated crowd with its gourmet seasonal dishes and impressive selection of fine wines. Established in 2001, this dining spot has gained local and national acclaim for its commitment to using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. Partnering with SMIP Ranch ensures top-quality flavors. Located at the base of Heavenly Mountain in South Lake Tahoe, it's a popular choice for visitors seeking exquisite French/Californian cuisine.
Excellent. Hidden gem right off 280. We enjoyed our anniversary dinner here. Our meals were delicious, and the service was impeccable. If I had known about this place earlier I would have checked it out sooner. If you're looking for a special night out that's close by without being in the thick of it all, this is your place.
Marco R — Google review
It's a fine Michelin star guide American restaurant with fixed 3-5 course menu. Make a reservation, hard to get in by drop in. Indoor and outdoor seating. Very nice clean fine dining. Foods are fresh, delicious and well presented. Inside is a bit formal and quiet. Service may lag a bit but still attending and responsive. Free parking lot is usually full but still OK. Not easily accessible due to steps and high seating. Not good for kids for obvious reason! Good for coyotes, date nights, small group or gathering and business meetings.
Max K — Google review
The food is average - you would expect this for a Michelin star. Nothing is surprisingly good or degrading. We liked the duck breast and the steak. But the appetizer and the dessert have some room to be improved, especially the dessert. Cinnamon is overpowering the pumpkin in the ice cream, the donut with chocolate is just too plain. The service is not bad, polite but distant. When one of us left for the washroom, someone came to fold the napkin but dropped it from where he stands, making a polping sound, without making any eye contact with us. Possibly laying it on the table with a table with a smile would show a better gesture. The dining room is a bit more noisy than we normally like as well. Overall a mediocre choice for a Michelin star.
Xinbo L — Google review
We were recommended this place for our wedding anniversary dinner and made a reservation a month ago. I was to arrive around 6 pm. It's an hour earlier because there was no traffic jam on the day. I went into the restaurant because there was no place to spend time around me. I booked a terrace seat according to the recommendation, but my husband was allergic, so we asked for an indoor table and they guided me to the bar table. First of all, the bar table was very cluttered. Whenever the entrance door opened, we lost our concentration. There were a lot of customers, but the completeness of the food was not satisfactory compared to expectations. The cooking of the scallops and crabs was uneven, and especially the dessert at the end was really disappointing. I didn't expected the chocolate souffle and custard cream I tasted in London, but it tasted artifical ans actually diminished my enjoyment of dinner. I didn't understand why people praised it. I think it doesn't reach the value of paying at least 500 dollars. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this place.
M P — Google review
The service is always super friendly and attentive. There's a cool window into the kitchen from the dining room that looks through a grill over open fire. The lobster salad and scallops crudo were so delicious and refreshing. Every bite is well worth it!
Kim — Google review
It used to be the place I’d always visit on special occasions, no matter how far away. But this time, the experience was disappointing — flies kept buzzing around throughout our meal, which made it really uncomfortable. I’ve always made a point to visit this restaurant on special occasions, no matter how far away I was. Unfortunately, this time was quite disappointing. Throughout our meal, there were flies constantly buzzing around the tables, which made the experience very uncomfortable. It wasn’t just our table — I noticed several others dealing with the same issue. For a restaurant of this caliber, I expected much better hygiene and management. The food and service were good, but it’s hard to enjoy a meal while waving away flies the entire time. When I politely mentioned it to the waitress, her dismissive response made the situation even worse. Even a casual diner or fast-food place wouldn’t have this problem. I truly hope the management addresses this — it’s not what one would expect from a fine dining establishment.
Liz S — Google review
We took my grandma to The Village Pub in Woodside to celebrate her 99th birthday, and it was such a memorable evening. None of us had been before, so we didn’t know quite what to expect — but we were genuinely impressed. The multi-course meal (three or four courses, if I recall) was outstanding — every dish was delicious, perfectly balanced, and beautifully presented. The service was exceptional from start to finish. Our server was warm, attentive, and thoughtful — and the rest of the staff was wonderful too, they really paid attention to even the smallest of details. The staff went above and beyond to make my grandma feel celebrated. They surprised her with an extra dessert and even brought out a stunning dulce de leche cake to cap off the night. It was an experience we’ll never forget, and we’re already looking forward to returning — maybe next year for the big 100!

The Firehouse Bistro is a hidden gem with a romantic atmosphere, perfect for a night out. The menu offers enticing options, making it difficult to choose just one dish. Starting with the charcuterie platter, followed by the Kurobuta pork chop and filet mignon, both cooked to perfection. Although too full to try the desserts this time, there's a determination to return and savor every dish on offer.
The ambiance and food were fantastic, eleganr, and over the top. The server was fantastic and very timely with serving. Fantastic place to go eat. Amazing

Amazing place with amazing service and food. Didn't know what to expect from the bistro concept hidden somewhere in woodside but we were blown off our feet with the amazing dinner! I usually don't change my mind in restaurant when choosing something at home 😃 but the daily offer of petrale sole was amazing! I hesitated to order it for couple of days and how happy I was to wait for this place to have it! The staff is amazing, we liked the interaction with the waiters...made this place special. Really fingers crossed for all of you and thanks for amazing experience! 💙

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | A Delicious Escape at Firehouse Bistro Firehouse Bistro is a gem that blends French comfort food with the elegance of fresh, high-quality ingredients—and it absolutely delivers. I ordered the Kurobuta pork chop, and it was exceptional. Perfectly seasoned, juicy, and cooked to perfection, it struck a beautiful balance between rustic heartiness and refined flavor. Every bite felt like it had been prepared with intention. The service was just as impressive. Our server was attentive, patient, and genuinely warm—no rushed orders or robotic exchanges here. It added a human touch that elevated the whole evening. The atmosphere? Cozy and inviting. Firehouse Bistro has that rare “happy place” vibe where you can relax, savor, and actually enjoy your time out. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Whether you're a foodie or just want a lovely night out, Firehouse Bistro is more than worth a visit. --- Be sure to make a reservation

Great ambiance, service and amazing food. Ordered the roasted brussel sprouts starter , filet mignon main and special of the day— lamb cutlets. All three were delicious. Friend paired the beef with Malbec wine- the latter was so- so. We were so stuffed that we skipped desserts.
Joanne L — Google review
My daughter ordered the file mignon, very good in flavor and perfect cooking, I ordered the pork chops, they couldn't be more perfect, juicy, good marinade, I would definitely order them again, a round of applause for the chef and the grill manager . My husband is a fan of risotto so he ordered the risotto with seafood, the consistency of the seafood was perfect and the flavor was very good. Just the risotto itself was very simple. For dessert we ordered Apple Crisp and crème brûlèe, both very good. The waiter, Felipe, was very friendly. As it was the first time we went, he gave us a very good explanation of everything. The parking lot is very accessible, the place is small so it is good to make a reservation.

This was such a gem! Ambiance is great for a date night. The menu looked good and I wanted to try it all, but the belly can only hold so much! My friend and I started with the charcuterie platter then I had the Kurobuta pork chop and my friend at the filet mignon, both cooked to perfection! We did not get to try the desserts since we were so full, but we will keep coming back until I can try all the dishes. Wait staff was also very nice and courteous. I will be back to try the other dishes. So happy to find this place. They also have a small room in the back from parties of about 14 people, so you can book a small event.

Mountainside area with tall trees, offering canyon hikes, biking trails & horse-riding paths.
Gloriously pristine & variegated forest, well maintained but surprisingly steep trails take you from cool, foggy redwood groves to dense oak woods to exposed chaparral. The creek bottom feels deep, & is deep, with a wide trail alongside a gurgling creek, suitable for bikes but subject to muddy puddles. Giant banana slugs galore! Ample parking at North Ridge trailhead, but very very limited at Redwood trailhead, where I found it filled by 8:30 am. At the bottom of the hill, the parking at Purisima Creek trailhead immediately leads to family friendly trails running flat, with beautiful redwoods & water access!

Today I walked 10 miles in 5 hours 25K steps on my step counter, starting from North Ridge Parking lot, North Ridge Trail, Whittenmore Gulch Trail, Purisima Creek Trail, Craig Britton Trail, Harkins Ridge Trail back to North Ridge parking lot. I highly recommend this route. It was stunningly beautiful all along. I believe there was 2000 foot elevation. All along, it was nicely marked and well maintained trails. Yes, I saw that Banana Slugs. The parking lot was completely open at 7:30am. It was foggy cold 45 degrees to start so put on good layers and have hand gloves (mid-April). Later, T-shirt was sufficient. It is completely wooded, covered with tall redwoods. It is a must visit for any mid level hiker. Enjoy!

One of my favorite parks for trail running, these trees and magnificent. Feels like you are very immersed in nature, and some trails even offer views of the bay. 😍 There is free parking lot by the trailhead, but people also park on the sides of the street once that fills up.

Being a PNW lover, I wasn't expecting what I experienced when I visited the Preserve. We walked along the Grabtown Gulch Trail on a beautiful Saturday morning, and were mind blown with the ethereal views. It was so perfect - lush green trees with cute little banana slugs, mist, fog and the sound of rain and a stream alongside. Definitely a hike I would recommend, and with its possibilities to add a few more trails on the way to create a loop with the Purisima Creek Trail is the cherry on top!

Purisima Creek is a beautiful redwood forest with easy access from Skyline Blvd 35 and Half Moon Bay. This Open Space has a variety of trails with great views of rolling hills and green trees. When not foggy, you can clearly see the blue sea in Half Moon Bay. Most of the trails are up and down, so it takes a certain strength to finish a long run or hike. There are many ways that you can go for a short and leisure hike, though. Happy hiking! Most of the time Purisima is serene, especially under the big redwood trees, yet it may get a bit crowded on weekends and peak hiking hours.

Huddart Park spans 900 acres of forested land, offering a variety of activities such as hiking, horseback riding, and picnicking. The park features picnic areas, an archery range, and diverse trails suitable for different skill levels. Visitors can enjoy breakfast or lunch at the popular Alice's Restaurant or grab snacks and souvenirs at the Woodside Store. The park boasts a mix of tree species including redwoods and oak trees that change colors even in summer.
Beautiful place for hiking, camping or just doing some sports. It's $6 per car to go in, there are multiple places to park and grill and spend the day. You can play volleyball, football, soccer, do swing sets, run or hike. Bathrooms are clean and well stocked throughout the park. NO DOGS AND NO SMOKING ARE ALLOWED. Camping requires a permit and there's a beautiful area for group camping 1.2 miles inside of the forest, the trails are fun and easy. Enjoy!

Absolutely love Huddart Park! 🌲✨ Super beautiful and very shaded — perfect escape on a hot summer day. The redwoods and tall oaks keep things cool even in the middle of summer. Trails are peaceful and well-maintained, great for a casual walk or a longer hike. Tons of birds here — heard and saw lots of woodpeckers! 🐦 Bring binoculars if you're into birdwatching, it’s a great spot for it. There are also a bunch of picnic and day camping areas scattered throughout the park. Most have tables and grills, and they're nicely spread out so it never feels crowded. $6 entrance fee (cash or card) but totally worth it for how well-kept and relaxing the park is. Will definitely be coming back — it’s a hidden gem just a short drive from the Peninsula.

Huddard park is a gorgeous tru California redwood mini forest. Huge redwood trees line up the trails and make it a paradise for hikers. Crystal springs trail is the longest but you can take detours through Dean trail to hike for roughly about 6 miles. It has lush green trails between the trees, slightly moderate climb for about 2.4 miles from the parking area and then downhill all the way back. You can spot large size banana slugs and hear sounds of chirping birds and squirrels. Plenty of parking available, thought you must bring cash only since there is no credit card machine at the entrance. You may be allowed to park for free if you didn't bring the cash but wouldn't be very nice. Several bathrooms available and are relatively clean facilities. Just walk the trails soak in the beauty and enjoy the views at the top of the mountain. Overall one of the best trail and redwood parks in the Bay area.

Great County Park with lots of trails, beautiful red wood trees and some wildlife. $6 to enter, but free for certain individuals - such as senior citizens. Use cash or check at the entrance, place it into the envelope and display the slip on the dashboard. Clean toilets, camping and picnic areas. Horse friendly. Some trails could be closed during the rainy season.

Nature & Parks
Wunderlich County Park, located in Woodside and easily accessible from the Bay Area, offers a picturesque setting with redwood trees, open meadows, and various biking and hiking trails. The park features stables for horseback riding, attracting both experienced riders and those learning to ride. Trails wind through tall redwood and eucalyptus trees, some of which are designated as equestrian trails.
Many trail options for any kind of hiker in beautiful redwood forest with occassional views of the Bay area. You can even hike up to Alice's Restaraunt for lunch. Parking lot fills up early by 9am or so.

Steep but shaded trails with plenty of birdsong. Not too much horse dung on the Bear Gulch trail after the first few hundred yards. Even saw a Great Horned Owl! Great place if you like wooded, shaded trails like I do. Fair amount of parking available.

My partner and I had never hiked in the Bay Area before. We didn’t have hiking boots and poles, but we still had a great experience. We arrived around 4:30 PM and completed the loop by 6:30 PM. Wunderlich County Park turned out to be a perfect trail for beginners or for those without special hiking gear. The trail is mostly shaded thanks to the tall trees, which made the walk comfortable even in the late afternoon. We also spotted many small birds along the way. Highly recommend this trail!

Very beautiful trails among the redwoods, completely shaded, clean washrooms, limited parking.

Really big beautiful redwoods and Doug firs. The iris were stunning in May, but gone by mid June. Fairly un-crowded, bc the parking lot is small

Parking is a pain. What is the point of having a beautiful public trail without sufficient parking spaces. It shows the attitudes of homeowners nearby fircing the city to put up "No Parking" signs outside the park for miles, at least 100 no parking signs. These were not there few years ago. If it is Gods country, let God's people enjoy it. If taxpayers pay to maintain the hiking trail, they should have a place to park their cars.
Kanda M — Google review
Limited parking is the biggest drawback to this great little park. It is dog friendly and no super steep trails. You can hike over to Ild La Honda road if you are adventurous.
Steve H — Google review
Had a super great hike here! Beautiful, nicely maintained, went on a weekday so there were people but it wasn’t crazy. The trails are marked nicely. I did about a 3.5 mile hike by doing the loop from bear gulch trail to redwood trail to Madrone trail then back onto bear gulch. 10/10 would do again. The first half is quite a bit of incline but the second half is easy peasy and there’s a lovely bench about halfway through the hike to take a break on after all that incline.

Nature preserve
Thornewood Open Space Preserve is a hidden gem for nature enthusiasts, covering an impressive 654 acres of untouched wilderness. This serene sanctuary features a network of trails that meander through lush forests, vibrant meadows, and babbling creeks, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the beauty of the natural world. With around four miles of trails to explore, it's an ideal spot for hiking with your furry friends as it welcomes dogs too!
A hidden gem. About a mile of trail lined with redwood trees that smells and feels so wonderful. Two parking lots (upper one is sunny, lower is shaded) with not too many slots, but you can park by the road. Dog friendly, no trash bins. No toilets or water fountains.
Zsuzsanna S — Google review
One of the small hidden gems on the peninsula & I'm kind of embarrassed I've been keeping it a secret. I prefer the Bridle Trail entrance which is on Old La Honda Rd - a small side street off of Portola that only local residents and bicyclists would use. The trail starts along Martini Creek and winds straight up hill for about a mile to join the Shilling Lake and Hwy 84 parking lot trails. Officially these are the only trails here, but I count at least 5 other un-official "non-maintained" trails ... all of which are obviously heavily traveled. The Bridle Trail is 95% in the canopy, so you don't have to worry about the sun, but the 8 or 10 parking spots fill up quick on nice weekend days. All of that adds up to a trail that is quiet, clean, and quite lovely.
Dave R — Google review
It is a beautiful hike. It's definitely worth the trip. It's a intermediate hike with little ups and downs. My 10 yr old could do it with me easily. Loved the redwoods and rest area in the middle.

Decent for a short hike. There are only a few trails here, and they run pretty short, totaling about maybe 3.5 miles if you traverse all of them end to end and back. Very small parking lot on the La Honda Road side that fits about maybe 6 or 7 cars.
Linh H — Google review
Limited parking (rangers enforce). Dogs ok on leash (rangers enforce), still wildflowers out. Easy trail for families. Schilling Lake trail is 0.6 miles. Bridle trail is 1.1 miles. You can do a loop, but it is difficult, and you will be traveling on unmaintained social trails.

I've wanted to check out this park for quite some time and a few times we did stop there was no parking. There is a total of nine parking spots plus one handicap spot and it is tight. Make sure to back into your parking spot or else you're going to have a world of trouble trying to get out. Today we stopped there by chance and miraculously someone was walking to their car and we were able to back into our spot. There is a Private Road that is not for pedestrians and the trail that goes alongside of it. This park is pretty small compared to all the other ones and a walk down to a lackluster pond I just don't think was worth the time but I'm happy to check this one off my list. If you walk all the way down it's about 400 ft in elevation not too steep. The one highlight of this trip was on the way up I thought I was taking a shortcut and I found a geocache which was the first one I've ever found. You'll see my signature there. There's a couple of good opportunities to take photos of the bay and Stanford Tower. Of course we did pass a couple families with their kids and the little girls of course complaining that they didn't want to walk anymore. Parents please stop forcing your daughters to go on hikes unless they want to, I mean the complaining is loud enough to make us want to get away from your family as soon as possible.
Ray A — Google review
Dog-friendly and about four miles of trails if you explore every inch of this smaller open space preserve. Proceed off 84 (through large bricks pillars that look like private drive) up to parking lot about 1/3 of mile up. It’s basically a one way width road which is why it looks like a driveway, but trust me! Beautiful hiking, some nice ups & downs, and great fall colors this time of year. Greta old trees for shade :) There is parking on the other side of the park as well, enjoy!
Alexandra U — Google review
The Preserve is huge and has several entrances. I often use the Old La Honda entrance. The trail is one way up and down so the courtesy of letting others to pass is a must. Due to pandemic, people on the trail are wearing masks when others pass by. The trail is also dog friendly. Lots of redwood so it is well shaded for 80% until you get it to the very top. Steady incline and great for beginners. The trail from the bottom to the top takes about 45 minutes for one way.

The Mountain Terrace is a stunning venue that offers breathtaking views, delicious food, and exceptional staff. It's a popular choice for weddings due to its gorgeous outdoor ceremony space surrounded by redwoods and with a clear view of the city. The wooden patio creates an intimate bistro atmosphere under twinkling fairy lights for dinner. The venue's deck provides an intimate backyard feel during receptions, allowing friends and family to spend quality time together.
My husband and I had our eyes set on having an outdoor redwood venue in the Bay Area. The Mountain Terrace was probably the 3rd venue we visited (overall, we ended up visiting over 20), and each time we visited a different venue, we couldn’t stop thinking about the first impression TMT left on us. For starters - it is STUNNING. My favorite part was seeing everyone’s faces when they walked through the entrance. The vast open space, redwoods, and a glimpse of the skyline view was just the earthy-atmosphere we were looking for. The food - this was a deal breaker for us. Our wedding was in October and I STILL have people messaging me about how they crave the food/apps served at our wedding… and that it had been the best tasting wedding meal they’ve had thus far, which I truly stand by. TMT banquet staff delivered, served and left no crumbs!! 10/10 perfection. The staff - I could not give ENOUGH kudos to all the staff that had a handle in making our day so incredible. Shout-out to our banquet manager Juan - who went above and beyond in accommodating our guests with special requests. With the level of care they had, it truly felt like they treated each of us like family. And Caren & Kristy - for helping a bride feel SANE throughout the wedding planning process… The amount of emails I sent Caren were probably in the triple digits, but she always responded within the day and was so informative/insightful each time. She also helped me find a better option for these chairs that I absolutely NEEDED - and they truly tied our Star Wars themed wedding together so well!! Also an added plus - they have a suite/house around the corner that you can rent for your bridal party the night before/night of. This was a HUGE help to us as we were able to have our wedding party together for last minute DIYs and for get ready photos too. The home is newly renovated and was the perfect stay for the night of. Definitely recommended & 100% convenient!! IN SHORT: The catering was ELITE, the banquet staff & coordinators are professionals, and the venue views?!? 10/10. If you're looking for an aesthetic outdoor venue that combines outstanding service, SUPERB catering and a truly enchanting atmosphere, TMT is the place to be. We couldn't have imagined a more perfect place to say, I do.

Where do I even begin? The Mountain Terrace was the perfect venue for our wedding. We originally found it by browsing Google Maps for redwood wedding venues, and it turned out to be even more magical than we imagined. The online photos honestly don’t do it justice. The view? Absolutely breathtaking. The service? Impeccable. The planning process? Incredibly smooth. Caren was a dream to work with. She was always responsive, patient with our many questions, and made us feel genuinely cared for every step of the way. The only hiccup on the day was that salads were served a bit later than planned, which slightly delayed our timeline. But the team went above and beyond to make up for it by extending our time at the venue, which we really appreciated. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful setting or a more supportive team. Highly recommend The Mountain Terrace to anyone looking for a magical redwood wedding!

When searching for a wedding venue, we had three main wishes: something inherently California, a “backyard” vibe, and natural beauty. The moment we walked into The Mountain Terrace, surrounded by stunning redwoods, we knew it was the one—and booked our date right away. From day one, our assigned coordinator, Caren, was incredibly responsive and helpful, answering every question (even the silly ones) with kindness and speed. On our wedding day, the staff went above and beyond to ensure everything went perfectly. Even two months later, our guests are still raving about the incredible food, excellent bar, and magical setting. As we made our way around to greet guests during dinner, we were delighted to see that nearly every plate had been cleared—proof of how much everyone enjoyed the meal. It was an absolutely perfect evening, thanks to Caren and the amazing team at The Mountain Terrace. We would wholeheartedly recommend this venue to anyone looking for a breathtaking location, outstanding service, and an unforgettable wedding day.

Had an evening wedding here and had such a fantastic experience. Our day of coordinator was Anastasia, who is so kind, professional, and responsive. She was a total expert: knew the best time for sunset photos, had great suggestions for which stationery was needed, and designed a custom floor plan suited to our needs. We are so, so glad we chose TMT! Specific pros: - Lots of stuff done in house (chairs, tables, catering, coordination, heating lamps) but option to bring in your own late night snacks and dessert - The food was amazing. Highly recommend the tri tip, duck, and coconut curry. Apps were crab cakes, raw tuna, squash latkes, and spring rolls. - Bar menu had flexibility with signature drinks - Truly everyone we interacted with was so kind - The views! - We stayed at the onsite house (Terrace Suite) which was really convenient. Plenty of room for everyone to get ready and stocked with items like an iron and champagne glasses. Welcome snack basket was a nice touch! Things to know: - Venue is up a windy road, so you may need additional expense to book shuttles for guest departure. Ubers to the venue are fine but very difficult to get ubers departing. - Will need to hire an acoustic musician for the ceremony if you want music outdoors photos by Gretchen Gause

A six star review This venue deserves more than five stars—it was a six-star experience! From the stunning setting to the excellent staff, our wedding day was absolutely perfect. Tips for a Perfect Day If you are planning your wedding here, my strongest advice is to rent the cottage. It was large enough for the bridal party's ready room and made the logistics seamless. The location is key; with the winding roads and the famously busy Alice's Restaurant across the intersection, you want to be close by. Advise your guests to arrive slightly early. The traffic, particularly on Sundays, can be heavy due to the venue’s popularity and the influx of motorcycle and car clubs stopping at Alice’s. This creates noticeable traffic and noise outside the gates. The Serene Experience This is where The Mountain Terrace truly shines. The moment you step through the gate, you are transported. You find yourself in a beautiful, peaceful environment underneath the towering redwoods with a breathtaking view of the valley below. Despite the busy road nearby, the property is a sanctuary of nature and peace. With plenty of seating nestled in the trees, it felt truly private—we were even visited by three deer! Our Celebration We hosted approximately 100 guests, many of whom carpooled. We held our ceremony on the grass facing the trees and the valley, creating a picturesque backdrop. The beautiful setting allowed us to take a variety of stunning photos: bridal party shots before the ceremony and family portraits afterward. Dinner followed with a wonderful, well-planned menu executed by the excellent resort staff. We then moved to the dance floor for speeches and celebrated the night away! The venue offers great facilities, including a dedicated area towards the back of the dance floor for the newlyweds and convenient bathrooms (three total, including one nearby). Everyone had a fantastic time, and we received compliments all week long. When we departed, we were ecstatic and so appreciative of the entire experience. Because we rented the cottage for two days, the bride and groom were able to simply cross the street, go to sleep as husband and wife, and wake up to a magical morning. We couldn't have asked for anything more! Rehearsal Friday This may be premature review, but I am sure this will be a wonderful venue. Over a year ago my daughter picked this place for her wedding on Friday the third. We had rehearsal and the place was gorgeous. Plenty of area to host a large group we will have 100 people for a sitdown dinner. The ceremony will be on the grass under the redwoods with a bit of a view. The place has a quaint appearance inside. There is a bar a place for dancing. A restroom is clean and gorgeous and well maintain hysterically across from Alice’s restaurant, which is where the wedding party had lunch. There is a cottage on one side of the establishment that we rented for two days so the bride and groom have a place to set up and have their first night together on the other side as an Airbnb as well, but rest at a wedding party. We look forward to the wedding on Sunday. This may be premature review, but I am sure this will be a wonderful venue. Great venue for a wedding or a large private event! Surrounded by beautiful redwood trees, this location’s only challenge is the drive to get there, as there are many windy turns that may be difficult to navigate at night. The food was outstanding, and the service was impeccable. Parking can be difficult unless you use the valet service.

We had an amazing experience planning our wedding with The Mountain Terrace! They were extremely professional throughout the planning and helped us stay on top of all the things we needed to coordinate. We used their day-of coordination service and worked with Anastasia who made sure that everything ran smoothly for the event. As everyone else will say in the reviews, the food they offer is excellent – we selected the tri tip with chimichurri, the ceviche-style halibut, and the hen-of-the-woods mushrooms as our three entrees, and we recommend all of them! The fish, which can often be a risky pick at weddings, was cooked to perfection by The Mountain Terrace. The appetizers were all great but we especially loved the mini ceviche cone appetizers. The bar was well equipped and we were able to have signature cocktails, which were enjoyed by all of our guests! We booked the venue in late November/early December 2024 for late May 2025, and we had ~100 people at our wedding. The weather was sunny but but still relatively chilly for the ceremony and many guests wrapped up in blankets for it. During dinner we had heaters at the tables (1 per table, provided by the venue), and this worked well for us. The view and grounds are gorgeous and made the perfect backdrop to our ceremony and pictures. We opted not to book the on-site rental they offer and instead do our hair and makeup down in Redwood City prior to getting a shuttle up to and from the venue. (Ubers/Lyfts from the venue are difficult to book.) This worked great for us, but if you want the simplicity of being on-site for the preparations it might be convenient to rent from them. Not renting also meant that we could have a larger after party out at one of the bars closer to home since our guests were primarily staying in Redwood City and San Carlos.

We got married at The Mountain Terrace this July and cannot thank the entire team enough for putting together such a great day. We worked with Anastasia in the months leading up as a wedding coordinator, and then Kristy in a day of coordinator capacity. Both were absolutely terrific — they were responsive, detailed, and so helpful. With their support, wedding planning felt so much easier. On the day of, Kristy went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly. In addition, everyone else on the staff that we interacted with was so kind and helpful. The space itself is gorgeous — outdoorsy and surrounded by nature, but not too remote. Accessibility was also important to us, and The Mountain Terrace is wheelchair-friendly. From the moment we first visited, we knew it was the right place: it has such a cozy, charming vibe. Pricing was reasonable and transparent, which we really appreciated. Overall, The Mountain Terrace completely nailed it — we couldn’t have imagined a better place to celebrate our wedding!

Buck’s Restaurant, located in Silicon Valley, is renowned for its quirky and eclectic decor that includes a wide array of items such as airplane models, shoes, license plates, statues, clothing, and historic pictures hanging from the ceiling. The restaurant offers a diverse menu with delicious comfort food options. Visitors can enjoy a whimsical atmosphere while indulging in dishes like fish tacos, burgers, pancakes, and French toast with granola.
I wish I could give 6-stars for the food, the atmosphere and the service as it was that nice. I was an unassuming visitor that just showed up and was very happy to have stopped here. The decor was amazing with tidbits and memorabilia placed tastefully throughout the building. The history of this place was worth the visit all by itself. My burger was really good, but I did not love the "secret sauce" and I am glad I went with good old catsup. I look forward to returning here. The ladies that took care of us were also top notch and just plain nice.

This is hands down the best place in the Bay Area! The service was incredibly fast—even though the place was full, we received our food just as we finished washing our hands. The atmosphere feels like another universe! It’s a real museum with so many fascinating items, from hat-shaped lamps to a computer part that Wozniak himself brought in. We stayed until closing and loved every moment. This place is truly one of a kind! A must-visit—highly recommended!

Look, the dining is basic. No gourmet food here. But the Ambiance!! In a fabulous location in Woodside with the walls filled with Silicon Valley history. Parking is terrible. Service is fine. But you're coming for the VIBE. A Soviet Era spacesuit? An Apple 1? Ancient household appliances? Yes, please. I love the AMD artifacts. Come for the museum, stay for the food.

Best burger in SF? I was shocked, too. Try the smash burger, especially in vegetarian Impossible form. Better than Gott's even (which is very good). Recommend asking for a tomato slice to make it perfect. Also, a surprisingly good value given the mega size; you can probably split it with someone. Mac and cheese and the Vegan bowl are also fantastic. Maiela was great.

Californian restaurant
Nestled in a picturesque setting amidst the towering redwoods, Parkside Grille offers a delectable selection of classic American comfort food. The menu features an array of enticing dishes such as white prawns-lemon risotto and Greek marinated grass-fed lamb chops, all crafted with fresh and locally sourced ingredients. While it's on the higher end price-wise, the quality and taste are well worth it. The ambiance is lovely, especially when dining on their charming patio.
A wonderful restaurant embraced by nature! We went there at night so the weather is nice and crisp. The restaurant inside is warm and festive. We enjoyed the service and the quality of the food. Of course the price tag is relatively high but it is expected. What we didn't expect is how big the food is! We particularly impressed the lamb chop cooked to perfection. The chocolate lava cake is a bit overcooked but the flavor is top notched. Usually in my family people just tried to be courteous and mindful of the sugar intake. However, we can just kept digging in until the cake disappeared lol. Highly recommended for a date night or a special event. Come hungry!

Nestled in the Redwood trees of Woodside, this charming restaurant is a relaxing venue for elevated Californian cuisine. The baked goat cheese was delicious, as was the seared ahi tuna. The staff is efficient and friendly, and there’s a decent sized free parking lot.

An excellent restaurant near the Woodside area with some outdoor seating arrangements under the redwoods. It is better to make a reservation as I did not see an empty table until about 8:15 pm. The food was delicious and sufficient, but the service was a little bit slow. But we thoroughly enjoyed the evening under the tall trees.

My wife and I visited the Parkside Grille on a Saturday evening. We came by bicycle. The restaurant has a small, old bike rack near the road which was difficult to lock our bikes to, but we managed. We had the goat cheese appetizer (amazing), bacon mac & cheese (amazing), roasted chicken and Ahi tuna entrees (meh), crème brûlée (meh) and lava cake (amazing). We sat outside underneath a propane heater which kept going out, so it got a bit cold. Overall we were glad we made the trip and had this new experience.

This is my kind of place. Set under enormous redwood trees in a nondescript plaza. Outdoor seating was cool, indoor seating was equally impressive. The building they are in is quite old but they have done a great job combining it with a superb restaurant. Decent cocktails and a well-developed wine list. Not a place to go for an inexpensive dinner put the prices aren't going to make you feel like you're in San Francisco either. Give it a try, I think you will like it

A great restaurant in a serene setting. If you can get a table amongst the redwoods it’s worth it. We’ve been here to celebrate birthdays or just go out with friends and family. We’ve liked just about everything we’ve tried. Only once was the service slow, but they were super slammed that night. The wait staff has always been cheerful and helpful.

Gorgeous restaurant and great location in downtown Los Gatos! I wanted to love this so much. I’ve been several time for food and drinks here. Menu items are nice sized with a good variety of options. I’ve tried many of their items for lunch and dinner and for whatever reason, it was just mediocre. I liked their burrata toast the best of all the items I tried. I had their deviled eggs which were heavily marked up due to the egg shortage, the chicken sandwich and one of their salads. I’ve had appetizers and several cocktails. The bar is always super busy in the evening which provides for a lively atmosphere. It can be a bit of a wait when it’s busy, but that’s understandable.

Nature preserve
Windy Hill Open Space Preserve is a stunning destination for outdoor lovers, featuring expansive grasslands and lush forest areas. With approximately 12 miles of trails, it caters to hikers, cyclists, and horseback riders alike. Visitors can immerse themselves in nature while exploring scenic routes that lead to breathtaking views from the summit. The preserve offers a gravel parking lot with ample space and basic restroom facilities—though it's worth noting that running water isn't available.
Beautiful spot. Hiked to the summit for my first time on Halloween night. I started hiking by myself towards the evening and had to hike back in total darkness. Got lost twice as a result of not remembering which paths I took. Remember to take that map at the beginning of the trail and/or use the AllTrails app. Bring a flashlight, water, and food if you decide to do the same. There are no bathrooms along the trail. Plan ahead. Beautiful view at the top. Would definitely come here again.

Great hike from the Lower Windy Hill Parking Lot and up to the top up Windy Hill, amazing views across silicon valley, all the way from San Francisco sky scrapers to NASA and silicon valley companies, also nice views across the bay. Great mix of areas to walk through, from shaded woodland to exposed grassland, good mix of exposure and shade. A great circular loop hike is to walk up to the top of windy hill and then back down anniversary trail and Hamms gulch. From the top of the hill all the way down to the stream in the valley below - lovely! 🚶🚶‍♀️👣🌳😎☀️⛅🌤️🌥️

This location is an great choice for watching sunsets. The day hike offers mostly open areas with minimal shade, so be prepared. Parking is free, but you must arrive early; we secured the last spot by 9 AM. It is entirely feasible to run or hike over 10 miles here without having to backtrack.

I hiked at the park while it was raining on and off and I have to say that it was amazing. The wooded trails looked like an enchanted forest with the foggy curtains passing through and giant mossy trunked trees. I loved it, it was quiet and peaceful.

An exhilarating, beautiful, tranquil, scenic hike with diverse terrain to keep things interestingly wonderful. It is moderately challenging, enough to keep my working but not exhausting. There are so many wildflowers! It's my first time hiking this trail, and it's now one of my favorites. Can't wait to go back.

Love easy access to any side of this Open Space Preserve. I've covered all trails and they are in top shape after all repairs, thanks to MidPen trail crew. The most straightforward and most popular trail to the summit is a boring fire road, pick any other trail with plenty of shade. Watch for wasps. A lot of wildlife if you start early enough. On a foggy day, the top portion can be very wet and slippery, be prepared. It gets crowded around the summit after 11am. Parking is not that big and fills up fast on weekends. The top trails near CA-35 are part of the Bay Area Ridge Trail section with no connections to other sections (as of 2023). Carry water, there are no drinkable water once you leave the parking lot. I think, dogs are allowed on trails.

Windy Hill is one of the most consistently well maintained and beautiful preserves in the area. Before embarking on your hike you can expect the trails to be well taken care of and great views included. I’ve been on all the trails in Windy Hill, and while I like some more than others, I love the nature every one of them brings. I will definitely be coming back for many more visits.

Thomas Fogarty Winery, located in the Santa Cruz Mountains, offers a stunning view of the city from its elevated position. Visitors can enjoy a variety of wines, including a Lexington Flight featuring light and enjoyable white and red wines. The winery's outdoor patio provides a perfect setting for a leisurely lunch with the option to bring your own food and pets.
This is a beautiful venue for weddings and special celebrations! I planned and coordinated a wedding here and it was a pleasure to work with Kristin and Susan. Our clients were very well taken care of and the wedding looked fabulous! I recommend this winery if you are looking for indoor and outdoor venue in one, which also has stunning views! Absolutely a great tour of the vineyard and the winery with a lot of great details on the history, the vine cultivation and wine making. On top of the tour, we have been delighted by the wine tasting, with all the different type of wines, through the different domain and vintage. We really enjoyed our time at the winery and I highly recommend this tour and tasting to everyone.
Philippe L — Google review
It is a small local winery located in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Unlike most other wineries, it is located on top of the mountain. I think the founder came here because he wanted a cool climate. It's better to dress a little thick because it's on top of the mountain. Since it's a small winery, the vineyard is rather small. There is not a lot of wine produced every year. In a way, it's a rare wine that you can't find anywhere else. The view down the mountain is very cool. You can taste and buy wine in the shop. Lexington 2014 vintage was tasted and bought. It was pretty good. Thomas Fogarty brand chardonnay 1998 vintage wine was selected also with an affordable price. Vintage 1998 is the taste of pain in Korea, which almost ruined the country due to the economic crisis. I should share it together at the wedding celebration of my best friend since pain is one of strong taste of marriage.

I’ve visited many wineries in both the U.S. and France, and unfortunately, Thomas Fogarty ranks as one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. The lack of management and customer care completely ruined what was supposed to be a relaxing afternoon. On a beautiful Saturday, my husband and I decided to visit after seeing on their website that they offer a “casual walk-in mini flight.” We drove 40 minutes, excited to enjoy some wine and the beautiful scenery. When we arrived, one of the two staff members told us she needed to check with the manager and asked us to wait. We sat there for about 20 minutes while she continued to serve other guests, only to be told later that they couldn’t accommodate us — even though there were clearly several open tables. It was obvious they were severely short-staffed, but instead of communicating that upfront, they left us waiting without any consideration. The lack of organization and respect for customers was disappointing and frustrating. The staff seemed stressed, which made the atmosphere tense and far from enjoyable. To top it off, the wine is overpriced for the quality. With so many amazing wineries in the Bay Area that truly value their guests, this one is not worth your time.

This is a great winery to visit in Santa Cruz Mountains. It’s located higher up so you get a really nice view of the city, if it’s clear. I tried their Lexington Flight which consisted of one white wine with 4 reds to follow (mix of cab’s and merlots). The wines were light and not overpowering with flavor and the one white wine I had I really enjoyed (I’m not a big white wine drinker). They have a nice outdoor patio and allow you to bring your own food and pets to enjoy a nice outdoor lunch. I definitely recommend checking them out b

Visited on a Friday afternoon after making reservations a couple days before on Tock. They currently have 2 tasting flights to choose from: Thomas Fogarty and Lexington. We were fans of their 2017 Will's Cabin and Mindego Ridge Pinot Noir on the Fogarty flight and the 2014 Gist Ranch Cab Franc and 2016 Gist Ranch Cab Sauvignon on the Lexington flight. One thing that did surprise us was the cost of the bottles, especially the Pinot and Chardonnay. Service was great, and our server was very knowledgeable about the wines and terroir. They allow light bites if you're sitting outside, so we were also able to bring our own charcuterie board makings. Although our table was in the sun, I'd still recommend bringing a jacket since it can get pretty windy. The outdoor seating has a view of the parking lot so definitely save some time to walk around the property before you leave. Fantastic views!

Disclaimer: This review is based on visiting the establishment as a wedding venue only, and not as a winery. I had some of their wines, but not their wine tasting. Came here for my cousin’s wedding. I couldn’t believe how difficult it was to drive up there, but good thing my cousin arranged buses for us. I’m just glad I didn’t have to drive. The winery was tucked away, but had an absolutely gorgeous view. Due to COVID times, we were outdoors most of the time including dinner. The weather was almost perfect even as it cooled down during the evening, it was still not too cold. Only got to taste their Pinot Noir, which was easy to drink and good enough for me. Looking on their website, a bottle of Santa Cruz Mountain Pinot Noir costs $38. Not too shabby. The dance floor indoor was a bit small that maybe only 20-30 people could all dance at the same time, but other than the small space, the design was fine. Given its facilities, spectacular views, and nice weather, this place was great for a wedding. I had a wonderful time.

Nature preserve
Nestled within a research facility, Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve is a hidden gem that showcases an impressive array of ecological diversity. While access is limited primarily to educational groups and guided tours, the experience is well worth it. Visitors can explore pristine trails and discover fascinating natural features like ancient acorn grinding holes and unique flora such as bulb lilies and rare onions.
Really enjoyed our retreat here! It was a bummer that our science lab room had no windows since the setting is so beautiful. But we were very productive and then took an awesome docent led with Mary Bernstein. We saw a clan of acorn woodpeckers, a sign that had been eaten up by a tree, 1400 year old acorn grinding holes in a large rock, a sacred cave, bulb lilies, rare onion, and the list goes on! Appointment required.

The place looks stunning and I'm sure it's incredible. But when we set aside a good chunk of time to go there we came to a locked gate that says you can only enter with a guide. That's fine but I feel it needs to be way more clear somehow that you can't go in without a guide 😔

Hospital
Stanford Hospital stands at the forefront of modern medicine, serving as a beacon of hope and innovation in biomedical research. This state-of-the-art facility has significantly expanded Stanford Medicine's capacity, allowing for quicker and more effective patient care. By merging advanced technology with a rich legacy of health and healing, Stanford Hospital is dedicated to enhancing the overall patient experience while making impactful contributions to both local communities and global health initiatives.
My husband had an extensive and complicated cardiac surgery performed at Stanford Hospital. His outcome has been fabulous. The level of care far outshines any other hospital in Santa Clara County that he has been to. The expertise of doctors combined with being a teaching hospital means everything thing is state of the art. The nursing staff is one of a kind!!! The smartest, kindest, caring nurses I have ever had the chance to meet. Stanford undoubtedly is THE BEST HOSPITAL in the valley. Forever grateful for saving my husbands life.
Angela H — Google review
I was recently hospitalized at Stanford Hospital for a couple of weeks, and I feel compelled to share my experience not out of bitterness, but in the hope that no one else has to go through what I did. From the start, I felt completely dismissed and gaslighted by several members of the care team, including doctors, the case manager, the nurse practitioner, and even the floor nurse manager. I repeatedly expressed valid concerns about my health and safety, but I was met with indifference, condescension, and at times outright hostility. It became clear that patient advocacy was lacking or nonexistent throughout my stay. What made this experience even more troubling was the absence of any effective system for escalation. I called guest services and patient relations to report what was happening and to ask for help. I explained in detail how I was being treated and how unsafe I felt. No one came. No one followed up. To make matters worse, I was discharged in a manner I believe was unsafe and completely inappropriate, both physically and emotionally. It felt like the hospital wanted to get rid of me rather than ensure I had the proper support and care. Stanford has a reputation for excellence, which is why I expected to receive competent and compassionate care. Unfortunately, what I experienced was the exact opposite. It’s deeply saddening that such a prominent institution allowed this to happen. Patients deserve better and there must be accountability. I sincerely hope Stanford Hospital reviews this kind of feedback seriously and takes steps to improve communication, accountability, and patient safety. No one should leave a hospital feeling unheard, mistreated, or abandoned.

Stanford Hospital isn’t just a facility—it’s an ecosystem of thoughtful, high-caliber care. From check-in to post-op, everything is clear, professional, and precise. The environment balances advanced medical tech with genuine human presence. One of my elder cousins underwent jaw surgery here after years of dental issues rooted in not seeing an orthodontist earlier in life. The procedure was serious but necessary, and the hospital team handled it with incredible precision and empathy—easing our family’s anxiety during recovery with timely updates and supportive bedside care. Small touches make a big difference, too—from welcoming lobbies and multilingual services to attentive post-op monitoring. It’s not just a hospital—it’s a place where serious medical challenges are met with unwavering competence and care. Whether your situation involves surgery or chronic illness, Stanford consistently provides a safe place to navigate life’s tougher health chapters.

I went to Stanford hospital after 4 days of having a 104 temperature they had to admit me as I was diagnosed with acute hypothermia I was given fluids and my fluid levels became normal. I had an ultrasound just to check my kidneys which turned out normal however when the doctor came to see me before I was discharged he said my fluids are normal however we discovered through the ultrasound that I have a Abdominal Aortic aneurysm and had to have surgery right away. Stanford hospital being so careful with me would not have discovered it if not for the ultrasound which saved my life Dr. Mel a Vascular doctor performed the surgery and it was successful and I'm totally happy I was treated at " Stanford hospital " Kudos to all the medical staff that assisted me. Thank you
Robert V — Google review
Stanford Hospital keeps patients in horrible overflow wards for days. The wards have 8+ beds in them, only separated by a curtain. They are noisy and uncomfortable. Patients have no TVs or other entertainment. Their own standards say patients should be kept in an overflow ward for no more than 3 days, but that's not an actual standard and is merely aspirational. There's no accountability in the hospital, and it's impossible to talk to anyone but the nurses, who will pleasantly tell you there's nothing they can do. Many of the nurses are traveling temporary nurses, so they know little about how the hospital works. There's a frequent lack of communication between the doctors and nurses. The doctors are inaccessible even to the nurses. Nurses wait hours to hear back from doctors when patients are having urgent medical issues.
Mike C — Google review
Literally now one of the worst hospitals ever. Their doctors are lazy & poorly trained. My chronically sick daughter just got properly diagnosed by a specialist in CO. because this hospital doesn't want to do their job. My daughter suffered needlessly for 1 year because of your ignorance. The answer & diagnosis was right there in the test results. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOSPITAL.

Don't believe the hype!! This place killed one of my brothers, and maimed two others! In each surgical procedure, one spinal, one arterial, the work was so bad each brother had to get immediate revision surgeries and the secondary surgeons commented on how they often have to un-do and re-do surgeries for way too many people coming out of Stanford.
Hilary M — Google review
They don’t really provide the care they advertise. Being with nation’s top ranking hospitals for Cardiology, we brought our dad referred for further heart management, no procedure was done except an MRI on his 3rd day admission, on the 4th day, they ordered we can go home with just oral medication, after 10 min, our dad had heart attacked, and died. Big NO to this Hospital!

Hospital
Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford is located adjacent to the Stanford University campus in Palo Alto, California. The hospital is known for its exceptional pediatric care and dedication to healing. Patients and their families have praised the staff for their extraordinary dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to patient care. The nurses are recognized for their exceptional customer service, bedside manner, patience, and consideration.
Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital is truly exceptional. The facility is beautiful, spotless, and thoughtfully designed, creating a calm and welcoming environment for kids and families. But what really sets it apart is the incredible care and kindness from the staff. Everyone we encountered from doctors and nurses to reception and support staff was polite, patient, and genuinely caring. You can feel that this is a place where children’s well-being is the top priority. The level of professionalism, clear communication, and emotional support we received made a difficult time so much easier. We’re beyond grateful for the experience and highly recommend this hospital to any family in need of compassionate, top-quality pediatric care.

I cannot say enough incredible things about Stanford Children's Emergency Hospital. From the moment we arrived, the efficiency and compassion were astounding. They were exceptionally fast in seeing and treating my daughter, which as a parent, is the first thing you hope for.The doctors were amazingly knowledgeable and thorough, and the nurses were simply fantastic. What truly set them apart was how they cared for my daughter's emotional well-being. They took the time to explain everything to her in a way she could understand, and they went above and beyond to keep her comfortable and content from providing a tablet to little hand-squishy toys to relax her tension. These small, thoughtful details made a world of difference. They were also incredibly kind and attentive to me as a parent, making sure I was comfortable and even offering me something to drink. I didn't know a hospital like this existed until we experienced it firsthand. This hospital is absolutely perfect for kids; it is clear that every single person there genuinely cares. They are proof that there are really, really good people in this world, and they are all at Stanford Children's Hospital. We are so grateful for the exceptional care.

My 15 yo had knee surgery to repair a floating kneecap. The surgery was complicated and lasted almost 6 hrs. The surgeon, rec we stay overnight, which we did. The staff we met before surgery was great at putting us to ease and the Dr's ( all of them) were patient and explained the planned procedure thoroughly. The staff in the SSU area who took care of us overnight were amazing! Charlene, Matt and Lea (sp?s) were terrific and kept us comfortable and taken care of! We've had 4 other knee surgeries ( this was the 1st at Palo Alto) and this last was the smoothest, even though it was the longest and most thorough. Thank you to all the great employees there!

The labor and delivery unit is the absolute best ( deserve 5 stars) but then you are transferred to maternity which is the absolute worst. They have twin sharing rooms though they will claim that they will give you a single room. The HVAC works weirdly where it will cool half the room while the other half is hot. My newborn had a horrendous time there. Never will I deliver again there.

I am deeply disappointed with Lucile Packard Children's Hospital. The customer service operators were extremely rude, unhelpful, and dismissive. On top of that, my child's medication refill deadline was missed, creating unnecessary stress and putting their health at risk. A world known top notch hospital should prioritize compassion, communication, and timeliness. This experience showed none of those values. On top of this, I requested a grievance to figure out what happened and was told it will take 30 days plus to get a response. Very inefficient timeline just to get a subpar response.

The Guild Theatre, located in Menlo Park, California, is a beloved historic cinema with striking Art Deco architecture that has been a cultural cornerstone since the 1920s. It has been cherished by locals for generations and holds a special place in the community's heart as it continues to showcase an eclectic selection of films. The venue also hosts live music events and has garnered praise for its intimate setting, clean facilities, friendly staff, and impressive sound system.
The Guild is a fabulous place to see live music. The old renovated movie theater, is now a state of the art small music venue. No bad seats, great acoustics and sound.

Absolutely the best place to see live music in the entire SF Bay Area. No question about it. The sound quality has to be experienced. The venue itself, the staff, the location, the bar selection, and the aforementioned sound quality make this best place for live music.

Update: This is our 3rd time seeing a show here. This time, it was to watch Matisyahu. Show was GA (General Admission) and there was a good turnout. The place was packed. The show was magnificent. Update: This is our second time here. We came here to see Glen Phillips. The show wasn't general admission but rather arranged seating. We got our tickets late but managed to secure seats upstairs in the mezzanine. One thing is for sure, this venue has an amazing sound system and stage lighting. This is the first time watching live music at this venue and decided to see Big Head Todd and The Monsters (with opening act, The Barlow) for the New Year Eve show. Upon entering, the entrance floor is where the bar (on the left) and the sound & lighting booth (straight ahead) are located. The main floor is divided into 2 tiers and is separated by a handrail (IMO the best location is the 2nd tier on the main floor in front the handrail because you'll be eye level with the band). Upstairs is the 2nd bar and balcony for vip ticket holders. This place may be small when compared to other venues (like HopMonk or Moe's Alley) but I prefer the setup here since you get a good view of the bands no matter where you're standing. The sound quality and lightning effects are def comparable to a Slayer or Slipknot or Gojira shows. Lastly, exiting the venue and walking to your car isn't crazy crowded either.

Amazing intimate venue! There a second level mezzanine that is reserved seating. There is a bar on both levels. I was off to the far side by the bar on the lower level and still had a great view of the band and good acoustics throughout the venue with a very packed show

This is a great venue to watch musical groups. The staff were very nice! There are two bars, one on the main floor and one upstairs. We did have a small issue, but it was resolved by the GM, who was great! The sound system is excellent! The opening act was AJ Crawdaddy they played the blues and were really good! Pablo Cruise was the headliner, and they were fantastic!! It was the first time in years that we saw them perform. My wife got us fantastic seats as we were in the second row at the end of the row, and we were really close to the stage, less than ~6' away. I would highly recommend this venue!

The Guild is a spectacular venue to see live music. Been to a few shows here. The place is small enough you can see the stage from the bar. Bathrooms are gender neutral and extremely nice. Had the same 2 bartenders every time I’ve gone, they are very friendly and super helpful. Every employee there has been incredibly friendly. This is my new favorite live music venue. Once the band starts, they let in & out privileges to smoke. The Guild just gets better and better with every visit!

My new favorite music venue. It was the first time back since April when I attended the Bob Weir Wolf Brothers Trio with special guests five day residency. Awesome Lucero and Motherhips concert on 10/22. Looking forward to the six shows I have coming up. The venue is very intimate with a limited seating capacity floor and mezzanine (500?) but impeccably clean with a friendly staff in all job roles Best of all the sound is mind blowing with Meyer sound system. Concerts sell out fast here.

Alice's Restaurant is a charming eco-friendly eatery named after the famous song. Located on Skyline Boulevard, amidst scenic redwood trees, it offers a rustic cabin ambiance and traditional American fare. The menu features burgers, salads, and Texas-style BBQ in generous portions. While some find the food underwhelming, many appreciate the nostalgic experience and the impressive display of classic cars and motorcycles parked outside. To avoid crowds and catch a glimpse of spectacular vehicles, visiting around 10 am on Sunday is recommended.
Hands down one of our fave mountain spots to grab breakfast after a solid ride on the bike. We always love coming back here—the owner’s super chill and welcoming, and the staff is really friendly too. The food’s bomb, big portions, total homemade vibes. Prices are fair, and honestly, nothing beats having breakfast outside surrounded by nature. It’s a must-stop every time we hit the road on the motorcycle.

Alice’s Restaurant is an awesome spot! The food is great, the service is always friendly, and the place itself has lots of cool things to check out inside if you get a table there. Sitting out back is also awesome — there are tons of benches and it’s really pretty out there. On top of that, you’ll see plenty of cool sports cars and motorcycles while you’re there. I recommend going during the week if you can, because it gets really busy on the weekends. Definitely worth checking out!

Tons of outdoor and covered seating. Gas heaters upon request or when it’s cold. More limited amount of seating fully indoors. There’s also a little gas station next to the restaurant.

Alice’s Restaurant in Woodside is where burgers, bands, and families all find their groove. One minute you’re biting into a juicy burger, the next you’re tapping your foot to an Americana band that makes you feel like you accidentally wandered into a backyard concert. The vibe is equal parts small-town charm and road-trip cool, the kind of place where a Harley and a minivan look equally at home in the parking lot. I enjoyed both the calamari and the cheeseburger, each prepared with equal care and flavor. Paired with a crisp Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, it made for a thoroughly satisfying meal. In short: great music, great food, great people.

This was a diamond in a rough. It is directly across from Mountain Terrace. It is off of skyline Boulevard a bit tucked away but a beautiful Location wonderful service. We had a large party of 15. We sat towards the back of the restaurant in the outside, where they had plenty of heaters to keep us warm such a find Establishment. I note Mountain Terrace because that is where my daughter is getting married on Sunday so we had our rehearsal on Friday and we walked across the street got in line order our food and sat down and one by one with the electronic pager we picked up our drinks in our food. This place went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed from my Waco Burger to a salad to excellent Keylime pie. The beverages were fantastic as well. One person had a paper airplane that I never heard of, but it was excellent. There is plenty of seating all around and plenty of people to make sure you’re happy. They even had a donation drive for the local elementary school by selling pumpkins.

A lively and happening spot, often crowded with bikers and weekend visitors. You’ll need to order before grabbing a seat. The food is decent overall, but the buffalo wings stand out as a must-try. Staff are polite and friendly, keeping the busy vibe welcoming.

Went there yesterday and tried their steak sandwiches and their burger and it was amazing. The atmosphere was amazing. The service wasn’t that good. No one came to check on our table to make sure everything is fine. I do recommend it however.

Every trip to SFO requires a stop at this fabulous restaurant. The whole family loves the pies and chill ambiance. We usually just sit in the back with amazing views of a creek and the hills. Even the bathrooms are well maintained and clean even though its a very busy place. We had 3 different pies with Vanilla ice cream. Boysenberry was by far the best. Next was Apple Pie and then Chocolate Pecan Pie. Mudd Pie was so good we brought one home to NJ! Don't forget to hangout and watch some really nice cars and bikes.
