Kanchanaburi in 5 days

If you only have 5 days to spend in Kanchanaburi, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Kanchanaburi is a picturesque province in Thailand. It is the home of the Bridge on the River Kwai, an infamous railway bridge immortalized in David Lean's 1957 film of the same name. The province is also home to a large number of elephants, which are a major tourist attraction, as are Kanchanaburi’s geographical sites like Erawan Falls, and Sai Yok Noi Waterfall.
With favorites like Wat Thewa Sangkharam, Giant Raintree (Monkey Pod Tree), and Safari Park Kanchanaburi, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Goodway Restaurant and Asleep Hostel so you can get the best taste of Kanchanaburi while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Perched atop a majestic hill, Wat Tham Suea, also known as the Tiger Cave Temple, offers breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. The temple complex features multiple architectural wonders including several towers and pagodas of various styles. The highlight is an 18-meter-tall golden Buddha statue that dominates the Kanchanaburi landscape. Visitors can spend at least an hour exploring the elegant sanctuary and climbing up two towers, an orange pagoda, and a Chinese tower for panoramic vistas.
This was my first time visiting Wat Tham Sue, and I was blown away. The massive golden Buddha is even more impressive in real life than in photos. The temple stays on a hilltop with 360° views of green rice fields and mountains. I went in the afternoon and the light was perfect for photos. The climb up the stairs wasn’t too difficult, but I’d recommend using cable car, which costs 40 baht per round. The architecture is a mix of Thai and Chinese styles, with colorful details and a peaceful vibe. Highly recommend this place if you’re in Kanchanaburi 👍🏻👍🏻
Nhi N — Google review
The Tiger Cave Temple is stunning, with its giant golden Buddha statue and panoramic views over the countryside. The stair climb is worth it – at the top you’re rewarded with breathtaking scenery and a peaceful atmosphere. A must-visit when exploring Kanchanaburi.
ThaiRoadRides — Google review
The temple we made our second visit from six years ago, recently they have an elevator in construction the time we went on June2025. It's worth going up, the huge Buddha architecture is stunning and the peaceful rice fields view from above are all the elements that made me want to come pay a visit again.
Vi C — Google review
if you’re up for a serious climb, excited by views and meditation, and respectful of the temple’s spiritual side. It’s a sweaty, tough trek—but the summit will leave you feeling accomplished, energized, and more than a little inspired.

Stunning temple with views all around. Car lift not working so steps it is 10 mins up. Worth going for sure
M D — Google review
Wow alot of steps to walk up at the start but the view and the temple is very beautiful and definitely worth it !! There is a cable car 20 baht per person to take you to the bottom of you don't want to walk down again Fantastic place

wow !!!so impressive wat and beutiful view . we use the cable car to go .there(40baht per person round trip)
גלית א — Google review
The cable car was closed; the temple closes before 4pm. Reach in time if you want to see everything. Overall, very beautiful temple. You can go to the cafés in the other side of the hill to get incredible views of the temple.

Cafe
MEENA Cafe, located in Thailand, is a trendy spot surrounded by rice fields and offering a beautiful view of the Tiger Cave Temple. It's known as one of the most Instagrammable cafes in the area. The cafe provides great panoramic views of Wat Tham Suea, making it an ideal place for taking pictures and admiring the temple complex's beauty. Additionally, visitors can explore nearby attractions such as The Death Railway and enjoy a refreshing smoothie after visiting the temples.
Great cafe in the middle of nowhere just outside Kanchanaburi. Amazingly nice thought through, good cool drinks and finger food (as well as small portions of proper food). Do not miss it if in the area. Only drawback is that they seem to be victims of their success, we arrived at 14:45 and lots of things on the menu were no longer available (neither food nor drinks)
Roxana L — Google review
Wow, what a place to hang out in the afternoon. The view and atmosphere is just stunning. You have to purchase something from the shop (ie, drink, desert, etc). They have a good selection of drink (coffee, cold drink, etc), as well as the desert. They are not very sweet at all. We went in last August, where all the rice has already been harvested. But we get to see a farmer hard at work.
Tommy O — Google review
There are many photo spots and many seating areas to choose from. The view behind is the beautiful Tiger Cave Temple. The food prices are cafe prices, the taste is good, and there is parking available. You can experience the rice field atmosphere, which is suitable for coming in the morning and evening. It is very hot during the day, but everyone is fighting. It is very hot, but it is worth coming
Leo C — Google review
Beautiful cafe in the greens and nature. Lots of sitting places and different setup. Have many drinks and food options. Pizza base was below standard though. I am sure, Thai food would be good to chose there. In terms of service, There is ample scope of improvement by being little welcoming and smiling.

Meena Cafe is an absolute gem! We stopped by for an iced cappuccino and it was perfect – smooth, well-balanced, and super refreshing in the warm weather. But what truly makes this place special is the incredible view. Sipping coffee while overlooking the lush rice fields and the beautiful temple in the distance was such a peaceful and memorable experience. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing, with plenty of great photo spots all around. Highly recommended if you’re in the area – it’s the perfect mix of great drinks and stunning scenery!
Idan G — Google review
The cafe surpassed my expectations. The view and setting was much more beautiful than I thought it would be. It was pleasantly busy at 2pm on a Saturday but not totally rammed with people taking photos. Also everyone was very considerate of each other. The drinks and food were tasty and the staff friendly. Very glad we went. Make sure you have a way of getting back though as I could not have called a Grab.

Amazing food. Great staff. Mango smoothie so pretty so delicious. Chicken bazil was amazingly tasty. Best thai had since been here which is day 4
Rachel C — Google review
5 minutes drive away from Wat Tham Suea, and you will step into surreal paradise. It's probably one of the best cafes I have been to compared to the popular cafes in SG, Johor Bahru and Kyoto. The food and drinks prices here ranges from 70-120 baht which I find pretty reasonable given a tourist spot. The food is good, although the spice seems to be toned down for foreigners. English menu available too. Go on a weekday if you want to avoid the crowd.

The Giant Raintree, also known as the Giant Monkey Pod Tree, is a must-see attraction in Kanchanaburi. This over 100-year-old chamchuri tree is a popular stop for visitors exploring the beautiful countryside surrounding Kanchanaburi. While it wasn't initially on the itinerary for some travelers, its massive and ancient presence makes it a worthwhile visit.
An iconic, gigantic Jamjuree tree, astonishingly fresh air, and peaceful surroundings — if you’re looking to connect with nature, relax, and unwind, this place is for you. There are also several local shops nearby offering refreshing cold beverages and delicious Thai food. Free entrance. Restrooms are available at the back of the area. Plenty of parking spaces. Perfect spot for taking photos and videos! I’ll definitely come back again if I get the chance.
Thanawat S — Google review
I've been here many times over the years, when it wasn't so crowded. I used to meditate on the tree roots. This time, there are so many people and many cars parked. They've built walkways encircling the big trees, and there's a coffee shop on the lawn, which creates a nice, different atmosphere. And today, I also got to take photos of butterflies with the flowers."
Wijaksn H — Google review
It's really big giant tree. We came here and stood under those big branches. Listening the wind on top of leaves as the ocean 's waves. Around of the giant tree is parking lot, cafe, camping zone. Free entry ticket. Although the Google map informed closing time at 5pm. However, no gate or lock there. You can visit the giant tree anytime, even after 5 pm.

Tucked away in the countryside of Kanchanaburi, the Giant Rain Tree (also called the Big Tree or Monkey Pod Tree) is an unexpected and peaceful gem that showcases the quiet beauty of nature in Thailand. Visit early in the morning or late afternoon for the best lighting and fewer crowds. Bring some water, as it can get quite hot and there’s not much shade beyond the tree itself.

If you are in this area, then drive past this place, The Giant Monkey Pod Tree, also called the Giant Rain Tree. You will find this gigantic tree near Wat Tham Mangkon Thong, in Kanchanaburi Province It is estimated to be well over 3-400 years old with a huge crown that would take 60 men to embrace it. The tree's branches spread out widely, forming an almost circular roof. The tree is surrounded by a quiet park, and small paths and benches have been made so that you can walk around and admire it. It is a popular place among both locals and tourists, and it is free to visit. FREE entre

Yep, indeed a huge tree! 🌳 it’s always awesome to see Nature at its best. 😊 I hope it grows bigger. 😁 There are small local shops nearby where you can get drinks and snacks. Avoid littering. Have a good time! Good to pay respect as well. 🫡 it’s over 150 years old.

The Kanchanaburi SkyWalk offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city, mountains, and the colorful Kwae Yai and Kwae Noi rivers. Visitors can enjoy a stunning sunset view and a cool evening breeze by visiting around 5-6 pm. The entrance fee is THB 60 per person.
it’s a great spot to catch the sunset with a beautiful river view. The entrance fee is just 60 THB for adults (cash only). I didn’t go up myself because I didn’t have cash at the time, but it looked worth it, especially in the evening. I visited in July and the weather was nice. There’s also a peaceful riverside park nearby, well maintained by the government. Locals come here to relax, jog, exercise, or just enjoy the view. There’s even a small skate park and some food stalls around. It’s a calm, local area that’s perfect for a slow evening after exploring the town. Close: 19:00

The Skywalk Glass Bridge in Kanchanaburi is a well-maintained and safe attraction. The glass floor feels secure, and the surrounding views are stunning. I recommend visiting around 4 PM or later to avoid the midday heat and enjoy the scenery in more pleasant light.

A new destination in Kanchanaburi. It's a glass floor bridge about 12 meters height. It's 60 THB for each person, elderly just 30 THB. I recommend visit here in morning or on cloudy day. In sunny day you might burn. You may parking in frontage road or a parking area in opposite.

Kanchanaburi Skywalk (Song Kwae Skywalk) The Kanchanaburi Skywalk is a relatively new and exciting landmark in the city, offering a modern way to experience the area's famous natural beauty and riverside life. • Glass Walkway: The most notable feature is the 150-meter-long walkway with a transparent glass floor. Standing 12 meters above the ground, it provides a thrilling, bird's-eye perspective of the rivers and the surrounding city, making for excellent photos. • The Two-Tone River View: The Skywalk is strategically built near the confluence (the meeting point) of the Khwae Yai River and the Khwae Noi River, which combine to form the Mae Klong River. From the Skywalk, visitors get a clear panoramic view of where these rivers—often with slightly different water colors—merge. • Panoramic Vistas: It offers a true 360-degree view, encompassing not only the rivers and the surrounding mountains but also nearby historical and cultural sites, such as riverside temples and the local community that lives on floating houses (rafts). • Atmosphere: The area is designed to be a vibrant public space. It’s particularly popular during the evening when the structure lights up, and when the adjacent Walking Street (night market) is open on Saturday nights, adding to the lively local atmosphere. Visitor Information • Location: The Skywalk is situated in the Mueang District, near the Kanchanaburi City Pillar Shrine. • Admission: There is a small fee (typically 60 THB) that covers the cost of special shoe coverings that must be worn to protect the glass floor.

I've stayed at riverside hotels in this province many times for relaxation, but this is my first time at the glass bridge. The fee to go up and see the atmosphere of the river, sky, and mountains was well worth it for the view.

Enjoyable experience go at sunset even better which I plan to go back to see. Cheap entrance and nice views
M D — Google review
This is probably the best sightseeing site I have visited for my entire kanchanaburi 4 day trip. Value for money too, 60 baht covers both the locker deposit and anti-slip slippers (unlike most other touristy areas which charges for these add-ons). Cash or promptpay only. Mostly domestic tourists, and can be crowded during their public holiday

When in Kanchanaburi, a visit to the local night bazaars is a must. The JJ Night Market near the railroad station is a lively shopping spot divided into food and clothing stalls, offering affordable prices and delicious local cuisine. While smaller than those in bigger cities, it's still worth exploring for great deals on various items.
By far the best market in Kanchanaburi. Definitely worth a look at the food options.
Mitchell M — Google review
Probably the night market with the largest offering in kanchanaburi. Love how most stalls offer small servings, so u can leave your stomach to try different foods. Be careful not to over-order as the temptations are real!
Gary C — Google review
Great night market. Very convenient if you are staying in the River Kwai road area. On rainy nights the vendors may pack up early so plan accordingly. Pro tips: there is a Hoy Tod seller towards the back left corner that makes delicious food as well as a Laarb seller in the middle left. The sellers form a corridor that causes you to go around like a maze, I recommend that you do an entire lap and look at everything and then double back and make your purchases. Then if there is anything else you need you can hit seben right across the street. I go to this JJ market every time I visit Kanchanaburi now!
Eric R — Google review
Great place to look at food or clothes stalls . There is many to look at and choose from it was a good place to visit
Joseph O — Google review
Nice market. There is nowhere to sit, and no bin, everyone piles trash up on the sidewalk. Personally I find it overstimulating because it’s very busy and impossible to rest. The children’s play area is great tho, 30 baht for 20 mins on the bouncy castle and trampolines and you can buy and paint plaster figurines. Also if you get some food and drinks before you take your kids there, you can sit down and eat at the kids painting table. Theres even a small garbage bin there! My daughter left her sandals there and we came back the next day and they were still there. The massages are outside of the market stalls, to the far left, if your facing into the market from the street. 30 mins for 100 baht and it was incredible. Also there are toilet there, you have to pay 3 baht in small coins into a turnstile, but the toilets are very clean, there a woman in there with a sewing machine who will mind your stuff
Laura F — Google review
Such a good night market, there's almost anything for everyone. Too bad today is raining. You can get lots of great food, for almost every palate and every taste. Also the non food item stalls are a plenty... Will try come back if there is no rain. Really enjoyed my short time visiting.

Great food 😅 just make sure to leave some space until you completely done in the food area, some really nice tasty desserts and very very cheap. Head through a little earlier than when it's dark. I went late the night before and there wasn't as much food stalls as there was tonight.

River Khwae Bridge, also known as the Death Railway, is a historic bridge and rail line constructed by prisoners of war during World War II. It has gained notoriety through its association with the movie 'River Kwai Bridge' and is a key tourist attraction in Kanchanaburi. Visitors can explore the area's harrowing past by visiting important World War II sites such as the Allied War Cemetery, Thailand-Burma Railway Center, and Hellfire Pass.
If you're into classic trains and world war 2 history then this place is a good site for visiting. You'll see the bridge which you can get on at and walk over. The train is actually quite slow so you'll have plenty of time to avoid it. Plenty of people wave at the train as it crosses the bridge which is a cool video to take. This place is free to visit.

My 91 year old father returned to Thailand after 51 years to visit me and my girlfriend. We decided to bring him to this historic area seeing how he is a history buff. He served in the United States Air Force. He loved seeing and touching things he had read about or seen in movies. I am happy to create memories with him in this capacity.

4th October 2025: Historic location to visit, we visited at the start of the tourist season and it was ok, would imagine in high season the whole area is extremely busy. There is a POW camp on the other side of the river, the place is a total myth and tourist trap as no camp ever existed there. Plenty to see in the bridge area with the museum and cemetery in close proximity.

Very beautiful place not to Miss. Many people come here as it has a big history from world war. Magnificent Creation in those days. I like. There are many photos shots. Don't forget to bring your camera. Come when train comes. Very good. 2025 Oct

It is a nice place to visit, it is a must for those who care about history. Everything about the place says "old." Not very well maintained. The museum is mostly old and faded pictures. The bridge need some fixing. The train looks like it hasn't been updated since 1942. But, this is Thailand, not big on maintenence. The market is cool, but same old trinkets.

This is an absolute must-see attraction in Thailand. You could consider taking the train from Bangkok; the train travels slowly and offers beautiful views of the Thai countryside along the way.

We were there on a Sunday afternoon and a train was passing through. It was a good place to relects on action that was done by a party to another and the impact to the future. I was glad that the railway was still in use and hope god give rewards to the builders that was force to built it in their after life.

This place is a very scenic area, the river, the green hills in the background, and the old trains make it great for photos. You can walk across the bridge but just watch out for the tourist train that occasionally comes through. There are lots of food stalls, coffee shops, and souvenir stores around, so it’s easy to spend an hour here. I visited around 2 PM, it was not too hot, and the light was beautiful.

Have you come to Kanchanaburi to see the bridge over the River Kwai? - then I highly recommend you have a pit stop in this restaurant. They have good food, friendly service and the best view of the old railway bridge in town. It doesn't get any better. There aren't that many trains, so I recommend you match the times so you both get the experience of the train coming over the bridge so fast that even turtles can overtake the train :-)

Great location, beautiful views, love the restaurants' overall decor and vibe. They had these large family style wood tables, which were quite impressive. The restaurant was also conveniently close to our hotel. The river and bridge views from our table were great. We enjoyed a few dishes, my favorite would be the fried chicken with cashew nuts and the seafood in a coconut was just delicious.

Don’t listen to the older reviews marking this place down as it’s obviously significantly improved . We chose to have our diner at one of the biggest restaurants near the River Kwai, pure for the stunning views was our idea. The food was incredible delicious, the staff upper professional and friendly. We paid only 880 Baht for 3 main dishes, desserts and drinks. The Tom Yum Fish, the fried prawns (Thai Tempura), the fried Gourami (fish) and Thai coconut dessert... all 5 stars perfect

Delicious food, great prices, wonderful views… Not sure what it would be like when full of coach parties but dining alone at sunset was wonderful.

Restaurant right beside the Kwae River. The food is ok. The service is also ok. The price is reasonable. We got 2 dished of whole fish. One is deep fried served with fried garlic and one is steamed with limes and chili. The deep fried one is crispy from head to tail. The steamed one is a little spicy. The Thai style omelet is a little oily. The fried rice is good. The papaya salad is also good. Overall the food is good. The view is great and that adds to the meal. The service is fast. The location is great. We stopped by for a late lunch after the canoe trip, so we were very hungry.

Asleep Hostel, located in Kanchanaburi, is a 2-star accommodation with a convenient location near the Kanchanaburi Railway Station. The hostel offers non-smoking rooms with free WiFi and a shared kitchen. Guests can enjoy the shared lounge and terrace, as well as city views from certain units. The staff are known for their friendliness and effort to create a welcoming atmosphere. Additionally, the hostel is praised for its cleanliness and proximity to restaurants and bars.
Amazing price for a super sweet family owned hostel. The staff really makes you feel at home and is happy to help and give recommendations. Will definitely stay here again when I am coming to Kanchanaburi🥰

Very good location, right next to the night market and to a seven eleven. It did get very noisy at night and you could hear it from the room, the beds were also very hard. The staff working there was very sweet though! And the bathrooms were clean. It definitely does the job if you're thinking of going to Kanchanburi and it's cheap.
Léna — Google review
You honestly can’t beat the price. This is no luxury stay but it does feel more authentic with a lot of character. Kanchanaburi is a very quit town, seems travellers come here to relax. I asked one bloke what to do around here and he told me that he hasn’t left the hostel in 2 days. In the common area you’ll find lots of people sitting and reading. It’s a different pace here. The dorm doesn’t have curtains but it was fine, kinda adds to the vibe. Power and a light at the bed which was good. The top bunk doesn’t have railing which did feel a little dangerous. It had air conditioning so it felt cool in the night. Wifi was perfect too. Don’t expect anything fancy here but this hostel does have its own charm.
Caleb V — Google review
I spent one miserable night in this dirty hostel. The mattresses are old, dirty, hard and thin. No privacy curtains even in mixed dorms! Think 19 year olds in shivvies at all hours! Unfortunately I also rented a scooter from these mercenaries. My ID was held hostage to my replacing the already worn out rear tire, to the exhortation of 840 baht. I think they use the low season to identify problems with their bikes and make foreigners who rent them pay for the repairs. The hostel is dirty and the owner's friendliness utterly fake, but it IS close to the train stain and the night market and cheap. So you pays your money and takes your chances.

I don’t understand the good reviews for this hostel—it’s the worst I’ve stayed in after eight months of traveling in Southeast Asia. Terrible service, dishonest staff, and poor conditions. First, a staff member tried to steal 200 baht. I lost my room key, but my friend found it and left it in the hostel. Instead of returning it, she secretly kept it and tried to charge me an unjustified replacement fee. Luckily, my friend proved she had the key all along, exposing her dishonesty. Then, I rented a scooter. The next day, it wouldn’t start due to a dead battery—a mechanical issue completely unrelated to me. Yet, the same staff member took 100 baht from my deposit, falsely blaming me. Completely dishonest and unprofessional. Beyond these scams, the hostel itself is awful: questionable cleanliness, thin and uncomfortable mattresses, and terrible service. If you're looking for a decent and honest hostel, stay away from this place!

Restaurant
Taraburee is a charming restaurant known for its authentic traditional Thai cuisine. The menu offers a wide variety of culinary delights, including flavorful curries and tempting noodle dishes. The picturesque setting, surrounded by lush gardens, creates a romantic atmosphere ideal for an intimate dining experience. Guests can enjoy delicious Thai food with the option to dine while admiring the sea view. Although there is an air-conditioned dining area, it may not always be open.
Wow! We ate here on a Monday afternoon and had the whole place to ourselves!very clean, quick professional service, gorgeous river views, and the food was delicious! Thank you for the wonderful lunch!

Raft restaurant with a lovely few on the river. Live music was nice, solo performer with Neil Young repertoire. Food: Fried fish was okay, but small for its price, Tom Yum was richly filled with seafood, the taste was strong. Pad Khao Phu, the crab was maybe in the river, found nothing in the rice. Staff: We came early in the late afternoon, about 5 pm. A lot of staff present, you sipp a bit of your coke, and they rush to fill your glasses up. We had the Tom Yum served without any bowl and spoon, we had to ask the waitress two times for it and she gave us an disturbed look. No thank you or goodbye after our dinner. My conclusion is that some of the staff could be a bit more service minded.

We came with high expectations to this place as we saw many lovely reviews. We came 1 hour before sunset and asked for a table near the river. The staff said we had to wait for them to prepare the tables. However, they started preparing tables on the complete other side of where we wanted to sit. After 10 minutes we went to ask again if they could just prepare our table first so we could go sit there and finally they did that. Not very service-minded. The view was fantastic though, the food was delicious!

This place is good, they have indoor area but it's for family or gathering event I assume. They have outdoor place as well with no roof as you can see from the picture; it was hot no one sit there but theh have any other outdoor area with the roof. They also have a small cafe in it, taste wise; not bad. The ambience is really peacefull, and quiet not much people during weekday. Probably if you want to go here go in the evening, the view and the weather would be bit better. Food is okay, 8/10. They have halal optipn as well, and it's authentic thai food mostly.

Nature & Parks
Erawan National Park is a renowned destination featuring tiered waterfalls, picturesque hiking trails, and opportunities for nature exploration and swimming. The park is home to the iconic Bridge over the Kwai River, a significant relic from World War II. Visitors can also pay their respects at the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery and admire the panoramic views from Wat Tham Sua temple.
It's a well maintained tourist attraction. The national park is set up to receive a large number of people, there is plenty of parking and amenities. Access to the waterfalls is relatively easy and the climb is not too steep. Any fitness level can manage. A lot of rules around taking plastic bottles and food. Don't litter and get a swim vest if you want to jump in the pools. It's around 1 hour drive from the main town. During the off season I would recommend staying in a nice hotel in kanchanaburi and drive yourself to the national park.

🌿 Erawan National Park 📍 94GV+5HW, Tha Kradan, Si Sawat District, Kanchanaburi 71250, Thailand This is truly one of the most beautiful national parks in Thailand! The highlight here is the Erawan Waterfall, which has seven tiers, each one different and stunning in its own way. The first few levels are easy to reach and great for relaxing or swimming, while the upper levels take a bit more effort to hike but are absolutely worth it. There are small shops near the entrance where you can buy food, snacks, drinks, and coffee before starting your walk. You can also take a golf cart ride to the first level if you prefer not to walk the first stretch. After the second level, you’ll need to register your water bottles and leave a small deposit (refunded when you bring them back). No food is allowed beyond this point, which helps keep the waterfalls clean, something I really appreciate. If you’re visiting during a Thai public holiday, be prepared for large crowds. Otherwise, on normal days, it’s peaceful and very enjoyable. There’s also a campground if you want to stay overnight, and nearby spots like the Erawan Dam are worth checking out too. Entrance Fees (as of 2025): •Thai Adults: 100 THB | Thai Children: 50 THB •Foreign Adults: 300 THB | Foreign Children: 200 THB Overall, this park is 100% worth the trip, beautiful nature, clean water, and well-maintained trails. A must-visit if you’re in Kanchanaburi!

Erawan Waterfall is a truly beautiful place, surrounded by lush green forest and a peaceful natural atmosphere. The facilities are convenient and reasonably priced, making it easy for anyone to enjoy the trip without worry. The waterfall and the surrounding forest are well-preserved, and visitors from many countries come to experience its charm. The staff are kind, helpful, and attentive. They make sure everyone is safe, whether it’s providing life jackets or keeping an eye on the hiking areas. Food options are varied, and prices are fair with no hidden charges. There are also comfortable shuttle services to and from the town, which makes the whole trip even smoother. It’s the kind of place that leaves you with a warm feeling — the beauty, the friendly people, and the relaxing atmosphere all make you want to come back again

This national park has a ratger expensive admission (100THB for the locals and 300THB for the foreigners). Due to the popularity of this national park, getting into the park by car including the waiting time at the entrance for payment would take at least half hour. Howwver, there are plenty of parking spaces which drivers do not have to worry about. The park is huge so consider spending at least whole day. There are 7 levels of waterfalls and each of them has its own uniqueness and difficulty. Overall the exprience was not too good because there are simply too many people, but I would recommend to visit there at least once in your lifetime.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Erawan National Park is one of the best attractions in Kanchanaburi. It has seven beautiful waterfall levels, each with clear blue water where you can swim and relax. The hike to the top takes about 1.5–2 hours, and the trail is well-marked. There are food stalls, rest areas, and clean facilities near the entrance. Best to visit early in the morning to avoid the crowd and enjoy the cooler weather. Highly recommended for nature and adventure lovers! 🌿💧

300 Baht for foreigners. There are 7 levels(waterfalls). It took about 90 minutes to complete (from bottom to top & back down to the bottom), with short photo stops & excluding swimming. It can get steep at some point but it's all worth it. Make sure to bring lots of water, towels, change of clothes & a little cash & good vibes!

An amazing park with lots of pools and waterfalls, with seven points having a really convenient, organized entrance that is worth the price. The hike up the mountain to waterfall 7 is both beautiful and pleasant on clear, cold days. We spent 3 hours there without anyone noticing. It was amazing, highly recommend.

Nature & Parks
Erawan Falls, located in Erawan National Park, is a stunning waterfall consisting of seven tiers that can be accessed through scenic trails and footbridges. The natural beauty of the park and the falls is open for everyone to enjoy, with additional activities such as visiting the Sri Nakharin Dam Golf Course available for those seeking more adventure. The area also offers various accommodation options and is surrounded by picturesque landscapes, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.
Best place for someone who loves nature and waterfalls there are 7 levels of waterfalls and a little hike till 7 level . It’s all worth it . Best time to visit is in the morning or before afternoon bcz the 7th level closed at 3:30 and you have to hike about 1:30 to 2 hours to get to the top
Sannu B — Google review
The area is beautiful, consists of 7 waterfalls. There are golf carts that can help you get to the first few levels, but after that you're on your own. It is definitely a hike and you need to be ready to walk/trek and the path is not smooth. You can swim normally in some of the waterfalls, some only with a life jacket (which you can rent) and some you cannot swim at all. I recommend renting a life jacket and swimming in the earlier levels, as level 7 is the "pinnacle", but there are small fish there that keep biting you, and no one was comfortable swimming in level 7. I wish they sold snacks/drinks at the higher levels, because after the early levels there is nothing but the watefalls, and they take your food/drinks at that checkpoint. It's beautiful, requires a lot of physical effort, and it was rather underwhelming overall. Pictures are better than the reality. If you want to save money, stay in Kanchanaburi and just take a bus or a grab to Erawan.

Stunning. Some of the most beautiful falls I've ever seen. To see all 7 levels is quite a hike but accessible to most. Well worth the walk. The lower 3 levels take very little effort and are fantastic.

My first and last nationalpark in this country! What is this a waterpark or a protected area for wildlife? Luckily i saw some wildlife otherwise it would be a complete disappointment. As a waterpark great i guess especially for families for all nature lovers avoid. Should had spend the time and money for a thai massage . P.s. Tourists who visit my country don't need to pay more for the same attractions as locals.Really shameful.

This is a truly stunning waterfall. There are seven levels, so be sure to bring good hiking shoes, as you'll feel like you're hiking all the time, and there are quite a few steep steps. It feels like you're climbing a mountain. Food and drinks are available for purchase, but you'll need to purchase a coupon. Life jackets are also available for those who want to swim. There are always staff on hand to assist. It was quite a lot of people , but it's well worth it.

The place is not that close to anything but wow the waterfalls are amazing there are many more than 7 waterfalls it's just that you can enter at 7 points but it's worth the trip an amazing place highly recommend

I visited this waterfall for the first time and was truly impressed—it’s absolutely stunning. The water is crystal clear, and the natural beauty of the area is just breathtaking. If I’m not mistaken, there are seven levels to hike up. I have to admit, it’s quite a long walk, but it’s definitely worth it—not only for the views, but also as a great way to get some exercise. When you finally reach the seventh level, it feels magical. The water at the top is incredibly pure, almost like the very beginning of the waterfall itself. It’s so peaceful and beautiful up there.
Thanutchaknowles — Google review
Beautiful place for a nature escape! The water isn’t very deep, so it’s safe and relaxing for a quick dip. Great for hiking – the trail up to level 7 is scenic and enjoyable. Just be prepared for crowds if you visit on weekends or holidays. Still worth it for the views and refreshing swim

Sai Yok Noi Waterfall, also known as Khao Pang Waterfall, is a popular natural attraction in Kanchanaburi province. While it may not be as well-known as Erawan National Park, it offers a budget-friendly alternative for nature lovers. The waterfall is located about two kilometers from Sai Yok Noi waterfalls and provides a picturesque setting for swimming and relaxation.
Unbelievable beauty. For a small waterfall, it sure is packed with beauty. Do yourself a favor and pay a visit. The stone is slippery is a few spots. It is mainly walkable. Walk with buddy just in case!

Nice waterfall, really beautiful. Would definitely give 5 stars because it was a really wonderful experience. However, it was so crowded, a bit dangerous as it's extremely slippery. And it was quite difficult to park.
Jonathan O — Google review
I booked a train tour on SRT to go here (Special train Sai Yok Noi - 150 baht). I highly recommend this method if you have time and want to explore this place with a reasonable price. The trip length is 12 hours, 6:30-19:30. You can discover a historic railroad situated on a side of mountains. The waterfall doesn't have much clean water in this season, so it's good to rent a carpet and picnic. Good picnic place.
Vu H — Google review
Went to both Erawan falls and Sai Yok waterfall. We preferred Sai Yok as it was less crowded and touristy, and the falls looked magnificent as you can see the entirety of it. Erawan, on the other hand, despite it being a 7-tier waterfall you see small bits of it at each level, and does not look as great. You can also stand under the actual waterfall here in Sai Yok and get showered upon. Bonus points as this is free.
Sugakick - — Google review
Sai Yok Noi Waterfall The drive to the waterfall was scenic, with mountains and beautiful views along the way. I visited on a public holiday, so there were a lot of people. Parking was a bit difficult — I had to circle around 2–3 times before finding a spot along the roadside. There are many food and souvenir stalls around. Even though it was crowded, the place was still well-maintained and clean. At the moment, the water level is quite low and the water is murky, but the overall atmosphere is still relaxing — a nice spot to sit down, have a meal. Remind that free entrance and free parking. 11/07/2025

Mallika R.E 124 is a captivating themed destination located in Kanchanaburi, designed to transport visitors back to the year 1905 during the reign of King Rama V. This charming retro city beautifully recreates the lifestyle and culture of Old Siam, allowing guests to engage in traditional activities such as cooking, sewing, and pottery. Visitors can also don authentic Thai costumes for an immersive experience.
Amazing experience, we are going back to the history of the ancient king time and explore the history of how ancient Thai live. Especially Thai custome really makes me feel like Thais and holed coins need to exchange to use in the compound. Many area is Instragramable. Must try Thai traditional foods as they don't overpriced. Staffs are helpful and welcome.

Mallika R.E 124 is a truly immersive and unforgettable dining experience. Stepping into this restaurant is like taking a step back in time, transporting you to a traditional Thai village from 100 years ago. The attention to detail is impressive, from the period-accurate huts and equipment to the staff's traditional attire and roles. The commitment to authenticity is admirable, and it really adds to the charm of the place. What's more, visitors are encouraged to dress traditionally, which adds to the sense of community and shared experience. And, in a clever touch, only period-accurate currency is accepted, which can be exchanged using Thai Baht. The food and drinks are delicious, and it's fascinating to see the traditional cooking and farming equipment in action. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, happy to share insights into the history and culture of the village. Overall, Mallika R.E 124 is a must-visit for anyone interested in history, culture, and unique dining experiences. It's a truly magical place that will leave you feeling like you've experienced something truly special. Tips Not mandatory - Be sure to dress traditionally to add to the experience. - Exchange your Thai Baht for period-accurate currency to use at the restaurant. - Take your time to explore the village and soak up the atmosphere. - Don't miss the opportunity to try traditional Thai dishes and drinks.

This is a living history exhibit. The attraction depicts Thailand a little over 100 years ago. Employees play various roles in this community and dress according to the role they play. Visitors are invited to also dress in period clothing which can be rented on site for a small fee. There is a modest admission charge but each visitor receives the equivalent value in coins that can be used to interact with food vendors and shop keepers to purchase things. The coins actually encourage a deeper participation and learning experience as you see how the various classes of vendors dressed, lived, and worked. Foods are prepared as they were in the period. The recreation of a village was much more interesting than I expected. This is worth visiting. Plan at least 2 hours.

An awesome underrated place! Very well organized "ancient city" layout, creative in display and presentation. Really worth the ticket. They use satang to display the prices for yummies inside (1 Satang - 50bht) . But can still pay with baht. Staffs are super friendly, they'll help take pictures for you and be your free modeling photographer with no add fees. (You can give thema worthy pocket money though) So many exhibitions of ancient and modern Thai to see. Really beautiful place inside with awesome architecture and planning. You get coupons also with the tickets that you can avail for yummies inside. Clean toilets everywhere inside and a free drinking water container with the old style cups. Highly recommend to visit. Should give about 1.5 hrs inside to walk and take pictures. Many trees and shades inside.

Mueang Sing Historical Park, situated in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, is a fascinating archaeological site that showcases the remains of an ancient Khmer temple complex dating back to the 13th century. The park features well-preserved ruins of two ancient Khmer temples and a burial site where prehistoric skeletons were discovered.
This place is massive and they charge extras for a taxi entering- my friend and I were lucky enough to tip 100 baht for the grab driver to wait for us for 2 hours as the grab driver said that it wasn’t very crowded on a Saturday afternoon at 2pm and they would not be able to find another customer on the way back. The park was good for a nice walk and checking out sights and there is lush greenery and ruins around. Do bring bug spray as I had to use it every hour to keep the bugs from my shoulders and legs!
Natalie T — Google review
Large, well maintained park with interesting historical relics. The turning from the main road is signposted in English with the words "Prasat Muang Sing". It was fairly quiet when I went, maybe 10 or so other visitors in the whole park. So nice for relaxation and a walk in peace. There are a few gift and drinks shops and ample parking. Toilet facilities are also available at no extra charge. Entry for foreigners is now 120 baht. I also paid 20 baht to bring my scooter in, so total 140 baht - which I feel was reasonable. The Thai citizens entry price is much less, 20 baht or so as I remember, which is fair enough. This is not a particularly affluent area of the country.

Huge historical site that pet also allowed, but just help keeping area clean from dog poop. Well preserved castle. Recommend visiting in the evening before 16.30 (park close) 1 hour to avoid heatstroke. Fee for Thai citizen 20THB/person, car 50THB

Historical site dating back to the 13th century. Khmer complex, dedicated to the Hindu god Lord Shiva. We saw probably 3-4 other people during our time here. Though the site is big, there isn’t much to see. If you have limited time you can visit the park quickly and see the sites 1, 2, 3, 4 in the park. Ample parking space, ticket price is 100b/p for foreigners. You can either park the car outside or pay 50B to drive inside the park.

If you're a young international traveler visiting Kanchanaburi and have limited time, I’d recommend skipping Mueang Sing Historical Park unless you’re genuinely interested in history. We hired a driver and spent an hour getting to the park from our hotel, but unfortunately, we found ourselves bored after just 45 minutes. There are only a handful of monuments to see, and it’s easy to explore the entire site in less than an hour. While there are a few small souvenir and snack stalls on-site with reasonable prices. Admission for foreigners is 120 baht.

Wat Tham Phu Wa, located in the lush forests of Kanchanaburi, Thailand, is a tranquil Buddhist temple nestled within limestone caves and verdant vegetation. The serene ambiance and natural beauty make it an ideal sanctuary for meditation and reflection. Visitors can explore the impressive cave with its stunning stalactites and stalagmites, as well as numerous Buddha shrines.
From the outside you can't imagine that you are going inside a cavern. It's just mystic and curious how this temple is made up. From the first hall, there are different phats going through the rock. I was there on Saturday and I didn't have to wait, there were a lot of people but still I had my space to move everywhere. There is another temple in 3 min by car but this one is unique.

This temple will take you by surprise. The Khmer main building is actually a portal to another realm. As you walk in the reveal is a huge cave blended with Thai style and spotless. This is truly the cleanest cave I've ever been in. A statue link monk was sitting offering blessings to those who requested. An easy and cool walk and at the end there is even more space to stroll around. Perfect for a meditative afternoon. And try out the new coffee shop while you are there. The Iced Coffee was wonderful

I may have visited this temple several years ago. Yesterday I was on a tour with my friends and they chose to go to this temple which I vaguely remembered from about 7 years ago. The temple now has added attractions like rock formations, similar to the Stonehenge of the U.K. and beautifully kept flowered shrubs. The outside resembled some sort of Khmer temple while the interior was made into a huge cave. It looked quite pleasing to the eye and the atmosphere inside was nice and cool, not stuffy. Worth a visit, I'd say.

Not sure what the Asian fascination is with caves with a lot of fake junk inside. This isn't the only one I've seen. Marble Mountain near Da Nang is similar. And there's one in Kuala Lumpur, among others. The creepiest thing in this is what looks like a statue of Ho Chi Minh hidden deep inside. There was nobody here the weekday I came. It's so big they must get busloads at other times. It was very peaceful but very hot.

Both nature and human creation are beautiful. Stalagmite is in the cave. Outside is hot but when step in the harden clay building. It feel cool. Lots of parking provided.

Wat Tham Phu Wa is not only well known for being a meditation retreat, the temple itself features interesting architecture influenced by Khmer and Lop Buri arts as well as beautiful stalactites inside the cave where the revered Buddha images are enshrined.
Fokke A — Google review
Wat Tham Phu Wa is a very interesting temple. The 'on top outer building' is influenced by the Khmer arts and the Lopburi style (sic) of architecture. The entrance is truly mesmerizing and modern. But the 'on top outer building' with it's imposing magnificence is actually just the entrance because the area for 'worship' is below where the cave is. On the lower level, you can find statues of Buddha - said to be statues for each Chinese astrological sign where Buddhists pray faithfully according to their year of birth. Since it's a cave, you'll be able to see forms of stalagmites and stalactites. Despite it being a cave temple, everything inside is convenient and comfortable as they laid soft rugs to walk inside. It is also well lighted so you'll be able to see everything inside clearly. This place is also a renowned meditation center and inside the complex you will come across a reclining Buddha and a large sitting Buddha (sic). If you're into temples, you might find this one interesting to visit since it's quite different than the usual temples you might come across Bangkok. For locals, this is an important place of worship. However, for visiting tourists, there's not much things to do here in all honesty - just be respectful to the culture and religion. Entrance is free as of 2024. And in case you're not aware, please remove you slippers/shoes/sandals before entering. If you're parched or hungry, worry not because there's an area where you can buy food, snacks, and drinks.

For vegetarians not good at all. I eat stired fried vegetables but it was tasteless and a lot of full clove of garlic even without peeling. I am not sure about non veg but for veg it's not worth it. So skip if you're vegetarian.

The food is fantastic ! Seasonal Vegetable Stir fried taste is perfectly right ! Yum Pak wan(Pak Wan Spicy Salad)is very tasty The last menu is Pha Kao fish sauce deep fried. Pha Kao is a big type of catfish its taste is better than I thought. It’s very surprised me. Ultimately, the price is very worth comparing with the portion of the food.

This place is proper ‘R-han Pa’, which translate in to forest restaurant. The ingredients used are from the forest. Everything is super flavorful, spicy, and delicious!!! In addition, the mountain view is also beautiful. Highly recommend!!

Buses between Thong Pha Phum and Bkk, and probably other places, stop at this place on the way. I haven't ordered food there myself so can't say if the quality is different when you pay at the restaurant or when you get what you get with your bus ticket. But fairly average. Not too bad, nor too good.

Keeree Mantra Kanchanaburi is a top dining destination in Kanchanaburi, offering traditional Thai cuisine in a picturesque natural setting. The restaurant's expansive open-air layout provides stunning views of the surrounding mountains and lake. Signature dishes like coconut milk fish curry and pineapple fried rice are highly recommended. Adjacent to the restaurant is Village Farm To Cafe, a modern wooden cafe with mountain views and delectable treats like melon cream chocolate bun and green melon frozen yogurt.
Had a wonderful lunch today at Keeree Mantra Restaurant. The view was stunning and the atmosphere was truly relaxing. The restroom was clean, and the staff were polite and provided excellent service. This place is also perfect for hosting events or even weddings. Most importantly, every dish was fresh, clean, and absolutely delicious. Highly recommended!

Tucked in the middle of nowhere, this restaurant is highly recommended if you are nearby. The food was authentic and tasted really good. And the place is huge! Pineapple rice had a special spice added to it. The cabbage although looked simple, it was well seasoned. The fried veggie was served with a really good unique sauce. The otah was out of the world. Only wish the fish was in the middle of the pot rather than the bottom. The coconut lime seafood soup was more sour unlike the usual milk coconut base. The river snail with veggies was also good. The curry had a spicy punch to it. Dessert was preserved mango which is apparently very hard to find even in Thailand!

Absolutely amazing Thai food and service! The staff really made a difference — warm, attentive, and so friendly, they made our dinner extra special. Me and my parents had such an enjoyable evening at this beautiful restaurant. The surroundings are spacious, with lots of greenery, giving it a calm and relaxing vibe. You must try the fried fish — it’s so good, crispy on the outside, tender inside, and packed with flavour. Definitely a place I’d love to come back to!

Great spot for authentic Thai food in Kanchanaburi. This is in the same family of Keeree Tara River Kwai restaurant. We had Tom Yum Kung, fried snakehead fish with sour mango sauce, Khao Pad Kung, and fried spring rolls—all delicious and up to standard. The restaurant is huge, with a beautiful garden and an amazing mountain view. Service was excellent, and the place is super clean—you can tell they take hygiene seriously, even in the bathrooms. Plus, it’s reasonably priced—1,800 baht for two adults and two older kids. Highly recommended.

Nature & Wildlife Areas
Safari Park Kanchanaburi is a rescue park for various animals including monkeys, elephants, giraffes, and big cats. Visitors can participate in feedings and zookeeper experiences. The 2-day Ancient Markets & Kanchanaburi program offers a glimpse into Thailand's ancient markets, including the famous Damnoen Saduak Floating Market and Rom-Hoop Railway Market where vendors clear the market section to make way for passing trains.
Great experience, especially for families and animal lovers! 🦒🐯 Tickets are cash only, so make sure to bring enough money. Don't forget to buy animal feed at the entrance — it makes the visit much more interactive. You can either use the safari vehicle provided or drive your own car through the park, which is a fun and unique way to get close to the animals. You’ll get to feed deer and geese, and see bears, tigers, leopards, and lions up close. The absolute highlight is the giraffes — they’ll stick their heads right into your car looking for food! It’s such a memorable and fun moment. There’s also a zoo area where you can see more exotic animals on foot after the drive-through safari. Overall, it’s a fun half-day trip. Just be prepared with cash and enjoy the hands-on experience with the animals!
Pare_cetamol — Google review
Interesting place! Definitely not your usual kind of zoo visit, I must say. The giraffe enclosure was the highlight of my trip — my favourite part of the zoo! The giraffes come up really close, sometimes right up to your face, which makes the experience super memorable. The staff were professional and even helped us take a lovely family photo and a video with fun transitions, which was such a nice touch. You’ll also get the chance to feed giraffes, deer, and other small animals — great fun for both kids and adults. One thing to note: it can get a little chaotic on the bus while feeding the giraffes. They head straight for the bucket of carrots, so keep it away from your face if you don’t want them getting too close! Overall, it’s a fun and unique experience — interactive, hands-on, and something different from the typical zoo stroll. Highly recommended for families, animal lovers, and anyone looking for a memorable day out.

The Kanchanaburi zoo have different price for locals $100b & foreign visitors $400b. The place is huge but definitely need to improve the attractive points as most of the places are dated,as well as the tour bus are really too old, if the zoo wants to get more visitors, please also enhance your facilities. Highlight of the zoo, if you don't want to pay extra to take pictures & get really close to giraffe, will be the tour bus that bring you to different kinds of animals from deers, tigers, panthers, zebra, lions & giraffe. It was fun when you feed them and react with them. Other than that, there is a huge garden & also with small animals in the cage, which they looked really sad & not healthy...
Vi C — Google review
I visited Kanchanaburi Safari Park recently and overall had a very enjoyable experience. The park offers a unique chance to get extremely close to the animals, especially the giraffes, which was definitely the highlight of the visit. Being able to feed them from the safari bus and take photos up close is something you don’t get in most places. The giraffes are gentle and curious, making it fun for both adults and kids. The safari drive-through section is interesting as well, with a good variety of animals such as deer, zebras, ostriches, and camels. The ride is smooth, and the staff make sure everyone gets a chance to enjoy the feeding and photo moments. The views around the park are also beautiful, with greenery and mountains in the background adding to the overall atmosphere. That said, some areas of the park could be improved. A few enclosures look a little older and may benefit from future upgrades. Also, expect it to be quite crowded during weekends and holidays, especially around the giraffe-feeding zone. Despite these minor points, it’s still a memorable and family-friendly attraction worth visiting. If you enjoy animal encounters and want an up-close experience, Kanchanaburi Safari Park is definitely worth checking out.

This zoo is so much fun! I honestly didn’t expect a small province like this to have such a beautiful and well-kept zoo to explore and enjoy. It was a really nice surprise. The ticket price is very reasonable, and you get to see so many animals—bears, lions, tigers, giraffes, zebras, crocodiles, snakes, chickens, and many more. It’s a great place to stop by if you’re visiting Kanchanaburi. Perfect for families, animal lovers, or just anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable day.
Thanutchaknowles — Google review
The zoo is well-maintained and interactive, with no unpleasant smells in most areas. You can feed many of the animals and even go for animal rides, which adds to the experience. However, be aware that most of these extra activities, like feeding and riding, require additional fees. The entrance fee for tourists is 550 baht, which only covers the bus ride and admission—feeding is not included. I found this a bit expensive. Also cash only, which I was almost ran out since this was at the end of the trip. Hopefully they can start accepting card or promptpay soon. During my visit, the crocodile show area was under renovation or closed, even though we arrived at the scheduled time. Unfortunately, there was no prior notice about this. I highly recommend buying animal feed (100 baht) before the bus tour. Feeding the animals—especially the giraffes, who sometimes “robbed” us—was a highlight of the trip and a lot of fun.
Gary C — Google review
I visited Safari Park Kanchanaburi with high hopes and had both fun and reservations. Riding the open‑air bus through different zones was exciting, giraffes, zebras, llamas, deer, lions, tigers, and more roam in semi‑wild enclosures. Feeding the gentle giraffes and zebra from the vehicle was definitely a highlight. However, some areas felt outdated and poorly maintained. The elephant shows felt ethically outdated and uncomfortable to watch. Tickets were reasonable for Thais but foreigner prices are so high given the facilities. overall, if you’re eager to feed giraffes and enjoy a unique safari vibe, it can be fun—but wildlife lovers concerned about animal welfare may feel conflicted. Expect about 2–3 hours to explore.

Love this experience in Thailand and definitely memorable event. Did safari tour & photo ops w little cubs. I thought I’d have opportunities to play with cubs, but instead it was photo op (1000 baht). Had I known, I would’ve skipped it. Staff seemed friendly to the animals and taken care of. Safari tour + feeding animals & petting zoo was amazing.

Specialty Museums
The Thailand-Burma Railway Centre, situated near the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery Don Rak, is a museum established in the 1990s. It showcases a collection of relics discovered by collectors using metal detectors, along with informative panels, photographs, video clips, and an interactive topographical map of the 415-kilometer-long railway.
The visit to the Death Railway Museum and the train ride along the historic Thai-Burma Railway was both thrilling and deeply educational. It shed light on the tragic history of the railway and the countless prisoners of war who lost their lives during its construction—earning it the name “Death Railway.” The museum’s detailed information, photographs, and dioramas vividly portray this somber past, leaving a lasting emotional impact. A day trip from Bangkok to the Death Railway is highly recommended, and if time allows, spending 1–2 nights in Kanchanaburi district offers a great opportunity to further explore the area.

Wat Ban Tham, also known as the Dragons Head Temple, is a unique Buddhist site with a history dating back to the Ayutthaya period. The monastery features nine caves, including two within the monastery itself. Access to the site involves climbing a staircase that enters through a giant dragon's mouth, leading past two natural caves converted into Buddhist chapels. The temple's impressive and colorful architecture includes a staircase that resembles the body of a dragon and is adorned with temple murals.
Very pretty place with a beautiful stair leasing to a temple cave. Inside the dragon is written the legend of the cave. It's not too hard to go to the cave and the views are beautiful. Inside the cave you can take a long stairs to the top of the mountains for the view and golden chedi, this part is harder. It takes 1h30 to explore everything. Not crowded at all and snacks and restaurants at the bottom. The only downside is that it's hard to get there. You have two use Grab or your own transportation. Free to explore.

We visited this temple quite late afternoon. Not crowded and no shop opens. We just taking walk around then came back, not hide to 5 destinations of temple. The temple was designed as a dragon. With head chamber, neck, body....tail. Head with the open mouth is the way to begin 1st destination...tail is end with the viewpoint from mountain. Parking is front. Lots of dogs there but they are very friendly. Free entry ticket.

Such a beautiful temple and well worth the hike up. Although it is a little tiring with the steps, the views and the temple at the top of the hill will leave you amazed. Lovely temple with many steps especially if you go right to the top but the views are worth the climb. Take a slight detour near the very top to go into another smaller cave. There's a rope to help you get down to the stairs. Worth the extra few minutes.

To explore this temple involved a lot of stairs hiking, but it is quite rewarding as well. There is already a temple compound at the foothill. Up the stairs and you will meet with a dragon, and enter a dragon. There is a temple mid hill which offer a great view of the surroundings. You can enter a cave which host a large golden Buddha. Continue going up from the cave will lead to a golden Stupa at the top, an amazing place to chill and take on the positive energy of the temple.

Good dinner at Zab Zab. We had a good time at Zab Zab, ordering 3 different plates to share with a cold Chang at a very reasonable price. Zap Zap (dinner) We found this place by coincidence when walking from our guesthouse to the night market and noticed that it was packed full with Thai customers. So we gave it a try the next day, which was a Sunday night and still busy, but not quite as full as the night before. We tried 4 dishes. Based on the reviews we could not pass on the chicken wings and the fried papaya salad. We also tried Seafood Pad Thai, and Beef Larb (a first for us, normally larb is made with chicken or pork). All dishes were good, with the fried papaya salad being our favourite. The wings second, and the larb lowest on the scale - it was quite chewy actually… maybe it was an old water buffalo that wasn’t fit for the fields anymore? Prices are average for Thailand and service was good. They have an English menu too, although it’s a bit less comprehensive as the Thai language one, good to have your Google Translate ready.

Krasae Cave, also known as Tham Kra Sae, is a natural cave located near the Death Railway and River Kwai Bridge. The small cave houses magnificent bronze Buddha images and is a place of local reverence where visitors leave offerings like jasmine garlands and flavored syrup.
Nice cave, which you can reach from the popular railway nearby. It's a nice place to visit with beautiful views outside the cave. Parking is easy, but a short walk away to the cave and the railway itself.
Jonathan O — Google review
Honestly, there weren’t many interesting things to see. It was extremely hot, especially near the railway. There is a cave next to the railway where it’s slightly cooler. The train to get here is an old-fashioned one, taking a little over an hour. If you sit on the side facing the direction the train is moving, you’ll have a view of the bridge; if you sit on the opposite side, you’ll only see rocks and cliffs. You can also buy and eat small pastries on the train. You can purchase your return ticket while on the train. It’s recommended to plan your schedule accordingly.

Amazing historic place. Always breathtaking to see the train come next to the mountain ledge without any barriers or fall protection. There is also a small temple/cave next to the tracks and many restaurants and shops to buy local stuff.

Beautiful place for reflection, and so cool , an escape from the intense heat. Hopefully some of the brave Allied Forces got refuge here when being forced to build The Kwai Bridge at the hands of the Japanese.

A quick visit walking on Death Railway to the cave is well worth it.
Malcolm M — Google review
Located at the Krasse station the cave can be combined with a visit for walking along the death railway track or to catch the train and ride it .The cave has a buddha statue and is a place of worship. It was apparently used by the POW as a rest place. We went in the evening to watch the train as it passed by at 5:45pm. Lovely views.

There were no train when I visited, but the cave was easy to find. A bit of a ghost town around, probably not a travel season.

The Maha Wang Elephant Camp is a zoo located in Lampang, Thailand. It features elephants that are well-trained but are not bound or chained. The elephants live freely in their own habitat and have been known to do tricks and even dance to the tunes of their trainers. This is an excellent experience that should not be missed if you are visiting Thailand.
Beautiful experience feeding the elephants, we don't like to ride them, we preferred touch them and give them lots of bananas, hope more torist will do the same.

Booking this tour means that you’re preparing yourself to get up at 7am, ride to view a cemetery and bridge. Then you’ll spend two hours at the waterfalls. The you stop at a random shopping center near the bridge approximately 2 hours from the waterfall. The “lunch” provided is a meal at 9am that you most likely won’t eat for several hours later. Upon arrival here you will quickly learn that this is NOT a sanctuary. The employees are sitting on top of the elephants and a circus performance will occur. We told the travel agent that we did not want to go somewhere with elephant riding. Upon arrival, the baby elephant was chained up. They use tools with a hook on the end to guide the elephants. The employees then beg for tips. We expected to bathe and feed the elephants for at least an hour. We walk from the resting/feeding area to the river which was only a 1 minute walk. The entire process at this place was less than 15 minutes. My husband and I were mortified at the abuse these beautiful animals are subjected to. I will never return or recommend this company to anymore. RUN!! DO NOT BOOK
Amber B — Google review
DO NOT SUPPORT THIS PLACE – ANIMAL ABUSE ! I booked a tour from a man who had a stand outside of the hostel where I was staying. Throughout my stay, I saw several people buying from him, so I trusted he was legitimate. My friend and I told him clearly that we wanted to see and feed elephants not ride them, as we don’t support that kind of treatment. He assured us that the tour involved no riding just feeding, bathing, and observing the elephants in the water. The photos he showed made it seem like a peaceful and ethical experience, where you splash water on the elephants with buckets. Unfortunately, that was far from the reality. As soon as we arrived, we saw people riding elephants, which was exactly what we said we didn’t want. The staff there pressured us to get on the elephants, even though we said we were uncomfortable and didn’t support it. One elephant had visible wounds and scabs on its head, and the handlers were using sticks with sharp hooks to control them. It was heartbreaking. When we asked to get off, the guide got upset, started filming us, and told us we wouldn’t get a refund even if we didn’t participate. The entire experience felt exploitative and dishonest. The elephants at the camp were chained with short metal chains, unable to move freely. They looked exhausted and in pain. I regret supporting this tour at all. These animals are clearly being abused for the entertainment of tourists. Please don’t go here. Don’t support this kind of cruelty.
Ashley E — Google review
ANIMAL ABUSE Extremely upsetting experience. Elephants are beautiful animals and this place does not respect them or treat them well. The elephants are hungry, injured, and forced into labor. Men ride them with sticks and poke them into submission. Even when not actively attended to by a human, the elephants are chained to posts and separated. They are social creatures and should not be living like this. Awful awful awful. Please do not support this establishment.
Mae U — Google review
DONT GO TO THIS PLACE No one went on the any of the elephant, we could see they were clearly mistreated because of this they were trying to charge us for taking pictures. The baby elephant could only walk round in no more than a 2 meter circle, in fact less than that as it was tied to a fence so half that space. Behind the baby section there was a elephant stepping side to side (if it was not right in the head) tied up with the same amount of room as the baby elephant. The men on the back of the elephant hand sticks with metal picks at the end. I understand sticks maybe needed to guide them but I have never been anywhere, when they had metal at the end .
Natalie H — Google review
I joined a tour arranged through my hotel, believing that Maha Wang Elephant Camp was a safe and ethical place for elephants. We were told it was a sanctuary. That couldn’t have been further from the truth. One of the elephants had open sores and scabs on its head, and the handlers were using sharp-hooked sticks to control them. It was disturbing and hard to watch. The elephants were all kept on short chains, unable to move freely. They looked tired, distressed, and mistreated. It was clear these animals were being exploited for tourism, not cared for. I left feeling deeply upset and guilty for unknowingly supporting this place. If you care about animals, please stay away. Supporting facilities like this only fuels more suffering.

Elephants World, located just outside Kanchanaburi, is an elephant sanctuary dedicated to providing ethical and responsible care for domestic elephants. Unlike other facilities, Elephants World rescues these majestic creatures from inhumane treatment and offers them a safe haven. Visitors can engage in one-on-one experiences such as feeding and bathing the elephants while learning about their rehabilitation.
This was one of the most beautiful and heartwarming tours I've ever been. The tour guys are amazing, the elephants are super calm, the activities are very much interactive, and the lunch provided was delicious. Since I booked a single day tour for my wife and I, we also had a light snack before leaving. All of this was included in the package. Our tour guy Mai was very interactive, kind, and caring to all of us. In the group only had a total of 6 persons which made the experience very professional, personal and fun. Thank you, Mai, for your caring side of life.

I was very sceptical of going to an unethical place however from what I personally saw today I believe the elephants are happy and well treated. The tour guide spoke English very well, he was entertaining and sarcastic overall lots of banter and laughs. It took us 3 hours to get there, we then ate lunch and began the activities 1.5 hours after arrival. I will say all of the activities were very repetitive for the elephants with all of the groups coming in however the elephants knew the routine and I did not see any of the tour guides or elephant keepers be forceful or doing wrong by animals. There was lots of dogs at every activity spot. The only thing I was concerned about / did not like to see was there is a bull (I think?) which appeared to be tied to a tree.. overall it was a good experience

We had a great time here and our guide Gogo was awesome! He went above and beyond in making sure we were having a great time and proactively offering to take our photo. We had a great time meeting the elephants and feeding them watermelons! Very good value for the money, we did a half day and we were able to spend a lot of time with the elephants. There are elephants freely roaming around that you get to interact with. Generally when feeding there is a bar separating you because the elephants are very excited to get at the food!

Come visit this beautiful place where you can spend time with rescued elephants and adorable baby elephants. I didn’t book in advance due to the unpredictable weather, but I called them and was lucky to find an available spot. It’s just a quick 30-minute Grab ride to get there from Kanchanaburi hotel. I enjoyed a delicious buffet lunch from 12 to 1 pm. Don’t forget to pack a change of clothes and wear shorts! (Or you can buy at the survivor store there) You’ll have the chance to head to the river and help bathe the elephants. It’s a fun and refreshing experience you won’t want to miss! The trip was truly meaningful. The guides are friendly, speak great English, and share wonderful stories about the elephants' lives. They prioritize our safety and are always ready to help you capture amazing photos and videos with the elephants. Seeing the elephants so happy and playful with the staff was heartwarming. The staff even helped arrange my ride back to the hotel at the end of the day (around 3:30pm). Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to connect with these gentle giants!

The staff at Elephants World are very accommodating, knowledgeable, and kind! Keim led my 6-hour day, and he taught us so much about the elephants and how they are cared for at this rescue. Each elephant has a personality - it was breathtaking to interact with them, especially given that they have had previous negative interactions with humans before arriving at this rescue. The driver they arranged was very professional and helpful! I hope to go back again!

Absolutely THE highlight of our Thailand holiday! Loved seeing the elephants roaming freely, feeding them sugarcane, making the banana/grass balls for grandma elephant (82 with no teeth) and cutting sugarcane for them. The lunch was yummy too, i bought souvinnaires too!

We tried the overday package which was worth every penny! Shoutout to Kim and Chang (not sure if the spelling is correct) for being amazing, fun and helpful during our day tour. We started with elephant feeding, followed by seeing the baby and mama elephant, and helping with food prep for grandma elephant who has a dietary restriction. Highlight of the day is getting the elephant soaked with mud, and washing them up to the River Kwai. It’s a once in a lifetime experience and see how they live like us, humans. Worth the experience!!! 10/10

From the start of the day every interaction with the people associated with this venture have been wonderful. On time collection and great drive down. Smiling, happy welcome upon arrival. And we hadn't even started the "official" tour yet! Elephants are amazing. They look to enjoy this good life with the care that they receive. The best thing you can do is immerse yourself in some of the daily tasks like feeding the elephants, chopping fruit, cooking rice and making sticky rice balls which you then get to feed to the oldest female in the park. Lunch provided was amazing. Plenty of options including vegan and vegetarian. You can then give them a mud bath followed by giving them a good scrub in the clear fresh water. I'm an avid animal lover so seeing animals so well treated whilst educating people about the care of these great animals was a joy to see. Special mention to our guide Khem. And thank you to all the team at elephant world!😊

Wat Thewa Sangkharam, located in Kanchanaburi city along the Kwai river, hosts the Suk Jai Floating Market once a week. Despite its name, it's more of a night market and doesn't actually have sellers on boats. The temple site is extensive with numerous statues and temples to explore, including a Royal Monastery and a fascinating museum showcasing the history of a monk who rose to become the supreme leader of the Buddhists.
We visited this temple on 11 May 2025. It s Vesak Day and International Mother’s Day today. Temple area is peaceful. Well maintained and clean. Lots of car park spaces.

Great hotel. Fantastic staff, they were very helpful with any questions we had. I had accidentally booked for the wrong month, this wasn't a problem for them and they sorted it out for us straight away. We rented the hostel bicycles for a quick cycling trip. They were pretty basic and heavy but they did the job okay. Rooms are nicely decorated, the overall design of the hotel is very stylish. My only minor complaint was that the air con took a very long time to cool the room down. Also, it would also have been nice to be able to be able to book day trips through the hostel's reception.

A supposedly historic street that is flanked by buildings going back to before WW2, you can walk down this street and read about the story behind some of the buildings. There are Thai and English language boards. Our tour group brought us down here so it's quite an interesting walk, although nothing really spectacular.

It is really funny that many people/tourists find this railway and slow moving train is something so interesting, to the point of pushing forward to be as close as possible to the moving train. The train is moving really slow as the shoppers close their shops and free the railway track for the train to move. There is really nit much to see, other than this is the only place that we can get to be so close to a moving train. There are shops along the track and some food kiosks. The local fruits sold here are fresh and nice. I bought some red jambu, bali lemon and pink guava.

Great selection of food, drinks and dry goods. But the street needs to be opened up. It's to enclosed making it difficult to walk and see everything. Lose the driving lane and open it up. This will make it more enjoyable.

Wat Tham Khao Pun is a temple located inside a cave with 9 rooms housing various Buddha statues and natural formations. Situated just a short ride from Kanchanaburi city, this ancient temple offers a glimpse of the River Kwai and the Death Railway train. While the main attraction is the Buddha statue that dates back to Rama V's reign, younger visitors are drawn to the end of the road where they can enjoy stunning views of their surroundings.
Wat Tham Khao Pun is a fascinating temple with a unique blend of natural beauty, religious significance, and historical interest. Here's a deeper dive into what makes it so special: A Cave Temple Unlike Any Other * Nine Rooms of Wonder: The heart of Wat Tham Khao Pun lies within a cave, divided into nine distinct chambers. Each room is a treasure trove of Buddhist and Hindu shrines, statues, and natural rock formations. As you explore, you'll encounter reclining Buddhas, intricate carvings, and hidden corners that spark curiosity. * A Journey Through Faith and Nature: The cave's passageways wind and twist, leading you through a labyrinth of dimly lit corridors. Stalactites hang from the ceiling, and the air is filled with a sense of mystery and tranquility. It's an experience that engages your senses and invites contemplation. Historical Echoes * World War II Hospital: During World War II, the temple served as a hospital for Japanese soldiers. This historical layer adds another dimension to the temple, reminding visitors of the region's past struggles and resilience. * Prisoner of War Remnants: Outside the cave, a small hut displays poignant reminders of the war, including photos of prisoners of war and old typewriters. These artifacts serve as a somber tribute to those who suffered during the conflict. A Must-See in Kanchanaburi * Popular Tourist Destination: Wat Tham Khao Pun is a popular stop on boat tours along the River Kwai. Its accessibility and unique features make it a must-see for visitors to Kanchanaburi. * A Spiritual and Cultural Experience: Whether you're interested in history, religion, or simply exploring a beautiful natural wonder, Wat Tham Khao Pun offers something for everyone. It's a place where you can connect with the past, find peace in the present, and appreciate the rich cultural heritage of Thailand. Additional Tips for Your Visit * Wear comfortable shoes: The cave's passageways can be slippery and uneven, so comfortable shoes are essential. * Dress respectfully: As a religious site, it's important to dress modestly when visiting Wat Tham Khao Pun. * Bring a flashlight: While the cave is lit, a flashlight can help you see the details of the shrines and rock formations. * Take your time: Allow yourself plenty of time to explore the cave and soak in the atmosphere. Let me know if you'd like to learn more about the specific shrines or historical artifacts found at Wat Tham Khao Pun!

Excellent cave with actual live bats in. The tunnels through are a bit tight in places so if of a larger frame or with mobility problems then don’t go further than first cave. It was worth 30 baht entrance fee. Now the bad points. The site is very neglected and run down. The toilets were not good and again rubbish everywhere.
Jason M — Google review
Entry fees: 30 baht. If you are looking for a beginner friendly cave, this is likely a good choice with good lighting, although it might still be challenging for the elderly.
Gary C — Google review
The temple itself doesn't offer much to see. There's a new church in development. The temple has a cave system. It is a bit challenging for big people, because it becomes a bit narrow. At the start of the caves is a Buddha to which you can show your respect. There are many bats inside the cave, therefore many poop and a nasty smell.
Fokke A — Google review
We booked a boat tour on GetYourGuide with a private longtail boat, and this cave temple was one of the stops. Even though it was smelling hard from bats in the cave, it is definitely worth it coming here as it is gorgeous! There is a beautiful reclining Buddha and many more Buddhist ornaments.
Stephen — Google review
It was by accident I got to know this wonderful place that is hidden in a secluded cave, up the hill from the shores of the river. Reaching it is either by road transport, or by renting a boat from the famous "bridge on river kwai". I must warn you that you need to be in good health to overcome all challenges, from walking steep hills, to maneuvering through tight cave passages. Entrance fee to the cave is only THB30 per person, and comes with personal tour guide speaking in Thai language only. In general, very nice place and worth visiting
Husain ( — Google review
The cave temple is a natural wonder, formed over time to create an adventurous yet accessible exploration for visitors. Navigating through its twists and turns is an exciting journey, offering a thrilling encounter with the marvels of nature. The cave's unique lighting enhances the overall experience, adding a touch of mystique to the surroundings. As you venture deeper, the cave reveals its charm, showcasing the intricate formations that have been sculpted by the forces of nature. The highlight of the cave is undoubtedly the end chamber, where a magnificent Buddha statue awaits. This serene and contemplative space invites visitors to sit quietly, absorbing the profound silence in the presence of the Buddha. It's a moment of tranquility and reflection that adds a spiritual dimension to the overall exploration. Access to Tham Khao Pun Cave Temple is primarily by private transport, as public transportation options are limited. Visitors are advised to plan accordingly and ensure they have suitable transportation arrangements in place. The journey to the temple itself becomes a part of the adventure, with the surrounding landscapes providing a scenic backdrop. For those with an appetite for more than just exploration, the temple area offers additional attractions. A short walk from the temple leads to the end of the mountain, providing breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and river. The presence of a nearby restaurant and cafe allows visitors to unwind and savor the moment amidst the natural beauty. Moreover, in close proximity to Tham Khao Pun Cave Temple, a golden pagoda awaits those willing to climb a hill. While the ascent may require some effort, the reward is a spectacular view and a closer connection with the cultural and religious heritage of the region.

JEATH War Museum, located near the famous Bridge on the River Kwai in Thailand, offers a poignant look at WWII history and the construction of the Death Railway. The museum houses a collection of documents, memorabilia, photos, videos, weaponry, and dioramas depicting forced labor during its construction. Visitors can also see historical items from weapons and vehicles to the remains of prisoners who perished during the war.
Really enjoyed this museum next to the bridge. It has an incredible view point on the fourth floor and it had a really vast collection of items and memorabilia. I don’t usually enjoy museums and tend to speed through but spent a good couple hours in here as there was so much variety. A shame it’s closing as both the exhibits, view and architecture are beautiful. Only 50 baht entry is a bargain. A shame it’s closing soon. Hope it gets saved!!

A very important museum, but it’s being shut down and so the upkeep has taken a backseat. I still think it’s worth the visit until it’s closed! It’s an important part of history during The Second World War and I appreciate the insight it provides on Japanese colonialism and the conflicts between the Thai and Burmese people. Important history lessons. I would recommend the morning, it was super warm when I went it made the walks a bit more challenging!
Jada H — Google review
We thought this was the official war museum but that is next to the war cemetery. Incredible amount of historic items including old vehicles and a chopper to look at. Several different museums in one. Great view over the river Kwai as well, Shame it's closing down

An interesting mix of WWII and Thai history in one museum. Though be quick, the signs said 2025 was the last year it would be open

It’s closing at the end of 2025 , maybe turn into a hotel . Go see it if you’re around . Not the most proper display of materials, but you get a general sense of the hardship of the war

Ok little museum to visit. Unfortunately almost all information was in Thai so we missed out on half the museum when we went there. But what we did see was an okay experience and the entrance fee of 50 baht was fair compared to the things the museum had to offer

This small museum contains some interesting things, which are not always well promoted. The explanations are succinct and the English translations are sometimes approximate. The museum can be done quickly in 15 minutes, but you'll need more time to look in more detail.

Taweechai Elephant Camp, located in the verdant jungles of Kanchanaburi, Thailand, is a haven for elephant lovers and conservation enthusiasts alike. This animal park emphasizes ethical tourism by allowing visitors to engage with elephants in their natural habitat without riding them. Guests can enjoy feeding these gentle giants bananas and watching them frolic in the river while floating on bamboo rafts. The camp provides an immersive experience that highlights the importance of elephant welfare and conservation efforts.
Located in Kanchanaburi Province, near Bangkok, the park is very large and usually not crowded with tourists. It's about a 3-hour drive from Bangkok. We booked a tour through a travel agency, which included elephant riding, elephant bathing, and bamboo rafting. A tourist from Taiwan.
Ching L — Google review
The elephants are gentle and adorable, but this is a place that evokes a sense of sadness. Seeing the elephants tied up, it makes me wonder what kind of training they must have undergone to perform like this—it’s truly heart-wrenching. I recognize that, as a visitor, I am contributing to the support of this industry, yet I can’t help but feel sorrowful for the elephants.
Judy W — Google review
The elephants are hit in the head with a stick that has a metal point end and bleed (even the small ones). I have seen a baby elephant that was chained to a tree with a short chain and couldnt move around, he was just circling the tree very anxiously. You better visit a sanctuary where you can feed, bathe and clean elephants, instead of riding, witnessing them being hit and chained and doing circus stuff. There are places in thailand where elephants are treated very nice. This is not one of them.
Post B — Google review
If I could put zero I would. These elephants are locked up in a 4m by 4m concrete space chained to the ground around their ankles. They can’t move more than a meter. The worker there was happy to tell me they do not get out and are chained up every single day. The other that can get out of their chains for an hour are ridden. I watched them poke them with metal spikes and made the baby elephants “perform” for people like a circus. It was disgusting. Go to an ethical elephant sanctuary if you want to see elephants. You should never ride them only watch from a distance. There is no need to ride an elephant.
Annie G — Google review
Not as advertised. The elephants are amazing but the staff is terrible. I didn’t feel safe nor comfortable with them and the pictures they take are useless. I left feeling sad for the elephants. Doesn’t seem like a place that treats them as they deserve.
Paula G — Google review
Friendly staffs & cute elephants. You can do activities or just feed elephants. The price of a bucket of bananas is 50฿. For me I'm ok to pay so they can use this money to take care of all elephants.
Beny ( — Google review
Nice experience. You not only interact with elephant, but also can experience to ride raft in the river. Not to much shop available there so prepare your own food
Artadana84 R — Google review
Beautiful and cute elephants. We just made a quick stop here for some feeding and pictures. One baby elephant tried to climb over the fence all the time. Maybe he watched prison break.

This hotel is what a Hotel should be! You get what you see 100%! Super friendly staff that speak fair english! Very fair prices (keep it that way please!). The breakfast is better than in some 5 star hotels and served with a smile😀 Best location to visit KWAI Bridge and WW2 historical museums True hot water and very clean! Very comfy beds, big rooms, with big refrigerator. Super safe with 24/7 security. Best hotel so far, because it can not be better in this location. nice pool too👍 Thank you for the nice stay🙏

The room was very clean, the reception staffs were very kind and the breakfast was very fantastic, they serve one by one plate but you can order like a buffet. The important part, the location is super duper convenient…nice to stay here❤️

The rooms are very clean, but dated. The shower area is quite inconvenient because the shower door cannot close. And the shower head is very high. Not good if want to wash specific area 😆 The bed is firm and comfortable. But the pillows are too hard for my liking. Breakfast is simple and limited. Can order like buffet. Location is very good. Near the railway. Got woken up a few times because of the neighbours and rain hitting the windows

We really liked this hotel. It was clean, friendly and welcoming. The all female staff were responsive if we needed anything, in fact were at our door in minutes to help. They were always cleaning and polishing and even take care of the swimming pool which was great for doing laps. Good location very near the bridge, about 200m which was nice to walk to and take some nighttime photos all alone. Small uncovered parking in front of the hotel.

Taraburee Restaurant is a popular Thai restaurant that specializes in more exotic fare not typically found on American menus. While some customers love the unique flavors, others find the cuisine challenging and not as flavorful as they would like it to be. In spite of this, Taraburee Restaurant maintains a loyal following thanks to its delicious food and casual atmosphere.
Wow! We ate here on a Monday afternoon and had the whole place to ourselves!very clean, quick professional service, gorgeous river views, and the food was delicious! Thank you for the wonderful lunch!
Stace ( — Google review
Fokke A — Google review

Good raft restaurant with friendly staff. Fresh and high-quality cousine . Good for watching sunset and cool breeze of fresh air.

Food is good. Nice view by the river. Went here after visiting the skywalk.
William G — Google review
Ambience: The location of the restaurant is near where 2 rivers: khwae yai and khwae noi combine and become Mae khlong river. It was raining earlier, and as expected, the river water is high and fast flowing. It is a nice view of the river with the mountains in the backdrop, a relaxing sight at dusk. The breeze is cool and the ambient lighting when the sun sets is adequate. The live music added to the relaxing ambience. Even with many customers, the place still feels not crowded. Food: food is great. I enjoyed their pladukfoo, its crunchy and the green mango salad toppings goes really well with it. Theie Gaeng kui hoi khum blends delicously with rice. Just the right level of spice and creaminess. They also have fresh fruits which are all satisfyingly. Sweet. Accessibility: 10-15 mins walk from downtown Kanchanaburi (bus terminal) and can easily locate. Private cars can directly accessed the restaurant. Parking: ample space for customers. Right in front of the restaurant and an additional area right across the road. Staff and service: very attentive staff and fast serving time.

Lakeview Cafe and Restaurant offers a stunning view of the lake, making it a perfect spot for capturing beautiful photos. The restaurant is recommended for its fast service and good food, despite the staff not speaking English. Visitors are encouraged to arrive before sunset to enjoy the picturesque setting. Even without dining, guests can appreciate the serene atmosphere by taking a leisurely stroll around the area. The menu is reasonably priced, offering a selection of coffee, drinks, and food until 6:00 PM.
Delicious food and relaxing view and atmosphere. Highly recommend this restaurant, if you near by. This cafe is located by the lake. They do have a lake front villa . Staff can speak English, and they do have English menu and pictures. They have vegetarian food . Price is reasonable and portion also good. I would like to come back here when rainny Season comes.

I had the pleasure of dining at a restaurant that offers an amazing serene view of a pristine lake. The facilities were beautifully designed, enhancing the overall dining experience. The food was not only delicious but also thoughtfully prepared, complementing the tranquil atmosphere. This restaurant truly stands out as one of the best, providing a comfortable and stunning natural environment that makes for a perfect getaway. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a relaxing dining experience surrounded by nature!

The atmosphere, food and service are actually a 5 for all of them. It's a very lovely cafe and restaurant with nice view of the small lake. The small deduction is just a caution that during day time it could feel really hot despite using fans.

Was hungry and followed the signs next to the road. It's quite a long dirt road to get to the restaurant (drive slow with lowhanging cars!) but the view and food is really worth it. Beautiful nature, restaurant right next to the lake. The Padthai shrimp was fresh and very tasty. Yes it's a bit more expensive but logical given the location. Would visit again.

Beautiful place just off the main road between Kanchanaburi to Erewan NP. Stunning setting on the lake, very quiet, very cool spot. Had the crispy pork belly and a beer and chilled out of the heat for an hour on my way back. Great find. Recommend.
Richard C — Google review
Generally well-maintained place for a brunch, lunch, and dinner. A bit on a high price, though. That said, considering the lake-side location, a one-off visit wouldn't be such a waste of time. Fine dishes, which are in my case fried prawns in sweet and sour tamarind sauce and fried fish bites in coconut sauteed herbs, are quickly served. Clean toilets.
Kunlaphak K — Google review
I stopped by this place by chance, turns out it was a stunning lake and mountain view!! The food and beverage are okay, but not that outstanding. But, the lake-side atmosphere will definitely give you some relaxation and mindfulness. The price is reasonable as well. One thing that I am kinda not impressed with is the staff. They're not helpful and friendly - maybe I went on a busy day.
