I recently visited Horton Plains National Park, and it was truly a therapeutic experience. Surrounded by misty hills, fresh mountain air, and breathtaking scenery, the whole place felt calm and healing. The hike through the plains was both relaxing and refreshing — a perfect escape from the usual busy routine. The view from World’s End was absolutely stunning, and walking along the trail felt like being one with nature. The sound of the wind, the rustling trees, and the quietness of the surroundings made it an ideal spot to unwind and clear my mind.

Truly an amazing place to explore wildlife and nature! The hike to Mini World’s End, World’s End, and Baker’s Falls took around 4 hours in total, and every part of the journey was worth it. The views were breathtaking and the atmosphere so peaceful. Keep in mind that plastic bottles and non degradable packages are not allowed inside the park, which is great for protecting the environment. Overall, it was an unforgettable experience!

It was a really beautiful, natural national park. You can see different varieties of animals which only found in here. It was one of the best places I’ve ever visited. Especially the world’s end, if you are luckily you will able to see the whole valley under the mountains. 🥹so beautiful. *P.S please take all your rubbish and keep them with you until you returned to the reception area. Don’t leave any rubbish and destroy the home of the wild animals. 🥲

Horton plane is the cloud forest in SriLanka. The 2nd and 3rd tollest mountains kirigalpotta and Thotupola Kanda are it's part. It is a UNESCO world heritage site. Area covered by hortan plane is 3169 hectares and at altitude about 2100- 2300 above mean sea level. Cold. Climate change very quickly. Excess is possible from train bus, or private vehicle UpTo entrance. Road is deficult. Two entrance available. Pattipola and ohiya entrance. Vehicleparking facilities,toilets and small canteen is avilable. Circuit banglows also avilable. But booking is necessary

Nice place with beautiful nature. BUT challenging walk and be aware the it is not easy task. Don’t go if any problems with physics. MANY steps of natural nature No animals to see but nature is really pretty Price is high for foreigners 10000 lkr 9,5 km trail is minimum 2 very beautiful news and a nice waterfall

Horton Plains National Park is beautiful no matter the weather. On sunny days the views are amazing — open grasslands, cliffs, and World’s End. The drive itself is really scenic too. If you want to see World’s End without mist, make sure to start your hike before 6 am.

It's my first time visiting here. The cold was too much for me to bear. However, I was enjoying the time. So much to see, yet the time is limited. At the end don't forget to taste a glass of hot chocolate 😋 its mouthwatering. However i couldn't see milking process as I went in the afternoon. I recommend to go in the morning.

Ambewela, also known as the New Zealand Farm, is currently open to the public. I mentioned this because during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was closed, and some people might still think there are restrictions in place. At the checkpoint before entering the premises, the tyres of all vehicles are sanitized by the staff. Visitors are required to purchase a ticket, after which they can walk around the farm and observe cows, goats, rabbits, and other animals. Personally, I found the odor inside the cow shelters quite unbearable, so it may not be suitable for people with respiratory conditions or for infants. Milking hours are 4.00am to 9.15am, noon to 5.00pm and 8.00pm to next day 1.00am. Unfortunately, I couldn't experience that, so, I don’t have any comment to pass on that. There are two restaurants within the premises. You can buy Ambewela products such as cheese, milk, and milk powder at a discounted price, and enjoy snacks like fries and burgers along with a hot glass of fresh milk.

We recently visited Ambewela Farm with our two kids, and it was a wonderful experience! The drive through the hills was beautiful, and the cool, fresh air made it even better. The kids absolutely loved seeing the cows and learning how the dairy products are made. The place is clean, well maintained, and very family friendly. We also enjoyed the fresh milk, chicken burger , fries and yogurt at the café definitely worth trying! It’s a great outing for families who want to combine fun, learning, and nature. Highly recommend visiting if you’re in Nuwara Eliya.

The green hills are quite scenic, but the farm might put you off though. Make sure to check the weather before you go. It's absolutely horrible if it starts raining and the winds can be quite strong and feel like a storm even though it's just a small shower. The farm restaurant can serve you a bite for very cheap. But there's quite a bit of walking around there and they wouldn't let you take your vehicle inside the facility. Could be nice if it's sunny, absolutely horrible if it's raining.

Ambewela Farm is a great place to visit, especially for kids! They can see cows, learn about milk processing, and meet other farm animals. The weather is cold and misty, adding to the beauty of the surroundings and giving the whole place a peaceful vibe. The green fields and scenic nature views are truly refreshing. One thing to note — the smell inside the cows’ resting areas can be a bit strong for some people, but that’s part of the real farm experience. Overall, it’s a lovely place to explore and learn something new while enjoying Sri Lanka’s hill country charm.

A must visit place if you are in Nuwaraeliya specially with the kids. Scenic environment with well kept high tech factory. Not only the cows you can see a variety of farm animals here including bunnies and goats. Highly recommend for a family visit.

We visited Ambewela Farm and first found the café on Google Maps. We tried the hot chocolate, which was delicious and went perfectly with the cookies though the cookie portion was more than enough! I’d suggest offering a half-cup option for kids, so food doesn’t go to waste. The service was good, and I would definitely recommend this café. However, the washroom facilities need some improvement.

Simply Strawberries is a fantastic place to enjoy delicious strawberry-based dishes. From desserts to drinks, everything was fresh and full of flavor. We visited this month and it was my first time there. We tried the Breakfast Berry and the Turkish-Style Granola Bowl—both were quite similar, with a mix of strawberries and yogurt. I thought that something paired with chocolate would have been an even better treat. The beautiful natural surroundings, relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff made the experience even more enjoyable. Definitely a spot worth visiting if you're in Nuwara Eliya!

Jagro is located right next to the famous Ambewela Farm, surrounded by absolutely stunning scenery. If you love strawberries, this place is a must visit! You can enjoy a delicious range of strawberry based meals and desserts while taking in the beautiful views of the hills. The staff were very friendly and suggested some great drinks they serve all kinds of coffee, milkshakes, and hot chocolate, perfect for the cool Nuwara Eliya weather. The atmosphere is calm and cozy, making it a perfect stop during your trip around the area. Highly recommend visiting Jagro if you’re traveling near Ambewela or Nuwara Eliya it’s a sweet spot with great food, friendly service, and amazing scenery!

We thought we could go closer to the strawberry plants, which is why we stopped there. However, there is only an observation tunnel separated by a steel fence, so you can only see the strawberry plants from a distance. There are other strawberry farms which allow to go near strawberry plants. So basically, this is a strawberry cafe at a beautiful location. Wind farms are nearby. Anyway, the Food is tasty. 10/10 for waffle with strawberries, chocolate and whip cream. 6/10 for Tiramisu cake Price is slightly high. But I understand this is the normal price of strawberry products.

A beautiful and wonderful place to try various strawberry snacks!! The strawberries were so juicy and fresh. We tried the waffles which I simply ADORED it was so good and we also tried the Turkish-Style Granola Bowl which was delicious. The crunch of granola mixed so well with the strawberries and yoghurt. I've been here twice and the staff have always been friendly and welcoming and there's plenty of seating space. There are flowers to take pictures with as well. Would absolutely recommend this little spot for any desserts or strawberry lovers! I will definitely be visiting them again next time I go to Nuwara Eliya!

We were pleasantly surprised by this place. We had no expectations. We went in want to buy strawberries but then the menu was irresistible. The desserts were out of this world we all ended up ordering thr sundae ice cream plus the fresh strawberries. Not sure if it's a famous place. However for us as visitors to srilanka this is a hidden gem a must try!

Beautiful and peaceful place to spend a few hours in Nuwara Eliya. The gardens are well kept, with a huge variety of flowers, ferns, and trees spread across different zones. The cool mountain air and mist make the walk relaxing and scenic, especially in the mornings. People have to buy tickets at the entrance, and payments can be made by credit card. Seniors get a discount. The ticket price is high to be honest. Parking can be a hassle on busy weekends. We visited multiple times between April and October and were able to see and enjoy plenty of flora. November to March can be flower less. We went in January once and there were no flowers at all. The rose garden and orchid house are highlights when they are in bloom. The location under Hakgala Rock gives great views across the valley. There is a cafeteria where you can buy food and drinks, and small shops that sell flower plants and souvenirs. A few areas could use better maintenance and clearer signs. Overall, it is worth visiting if you enjoy nature and photography. One of the best botanical gardens in Sri Lanka.

Such a wonderful place to explore! I really enjoyed my visit here – the gardens are beautifully maintained and very relaxing to walk around. The rose garden was especially colorful and charming, and the Japanese garden felt so peaceful. A perfect spot to enjoy nature and unwind.

This is one of the five botanical gardens in Sri Lanka. Visited there with my friends and batch mates on a January weekend and amazed by the rich diversity of fauna. Every nook and corner was teeming with lush green flora, creating a serene and refreshing atmosphere. Although the climate was a bit colder for my preference, we still thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

Hakgala Botanical Garden is a peaceful and beautifully maintained garden near Nuwara Eliya. It’s perfect for a relaxing stroll surrounded by colorful flowers, towering trees, and neatly arranged landscapes. The variety of plants, especially orchids and roses, is impressive, and the cool climate makes walking around very pleasant. It’s a great spot for photography, picnics, or simply enjoying some quiet time in nature. The garden is spacious, so even when there are many visitors, it doesn’t feel crowded. I recommend taking your time and exploring the different sections—each one has its own charm. Overall, it’s a lovely place to unwind and appreciate Sri Lanka’s natural beauty.

Hakgala Botanical Garden is an absolute must-visit for any nature lover. I was incredibly impressed by the sheer variety of plants and the majestic, towering trees throughout the gardens. The air is fresh, and it's a wonderfully serene place to wander. One of the highlights for us was to see purple-faced langurs (where in the park after 4 PM). It was a magical experience to see them in their natural habitat within the garden. Do note that the garden closes at 5:45 PM (last entrance 5pm), so give yourself plenty of time to explore its many wonders.

Since childhood hearing stories of Ramayana, it's always intriguing to visit this place where Sita was. Held captive by ravana and it has been constructed into a beautiful Sita temple. It has a ₹,100 entry and beautiful idols with the priest explaining and blessing. The visitors also makes it a very, very divine experience. We were able to see the whole temple. And also visit the footprint beside the flowing river stream, where Hanuman GIS expected to have helped Sita to escape. There is a beautiful meditation hall for people visiting this shrine. A very different experience to at least see a part of history that has lived with you. Till this day. Witnessed with everything being told to you very systematically

Seetha Amman Kovil in Nuwara Eliya is a must-visit temple filled with peace and history. It’s believed to be the place where Princess Seetha from the Ramayana was held captive by King Ravana. You can still see the stream where she is said to have bathed and some rock marks believed to be Hanuman’s footprints. The temple has beautiful South Indian architecture and a calm spiritual vibe. For locals, entry is free, but foreigners may have to get a ticket or pay for special pooja services. It’s about 5 km from Nuwara Eliya town near Hakgala Gardens. The place gets crowded during holidays, so early morning visits are best.

Sita Eliya is a nice place and has a good connection with the Ramayana very different experience , but it really needs to be kept cleaner and made more attractive for visitors.

My daughter and I visited the Moon Plains, a reasonably new addition (Agricultural Tourism Zone, 2014) to visitors to enjoy instead of visiting the World’s End. This has a 360 degree panoramic view rather than limited view from World’s End location. This falls under Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council, and the tours are managed in collaboration with Department of Agriculture to our understanding. There are Safari Jeeps available for hire with a driver and a tour guide, which is fantastic. Unlike World’s End, the jeep takes you to the top of the Moon Plain, although it’s a quiet rough ride. Our tour guide, Anthony, was very knowledgeable. He walked with us to the top of the Moon Plains, and explained to us of surrounding mountain range, what we can see below the mountains; understandably very windy, to understand how windy, we couldn’t stand on our own. Yet, the view was breathtaking despite not a bright sunny day, fully worth the visit. At the top of the plains there’s a metal and concrete structure, which is the Viewing Deck with a safety rail all around. Although it’s great idea, it is unfortunate that the designers didn’t appear to have considered the environmental impact this ugly structure brings to the plains. It is our opinion or view, this should have been designed to blend with the environment; at least it’s time for an organisation to consider modifying the structure to suit the beautiful environment. There are no toilets at the top of the plains, however there are toilet facilities where the ticket counter is located. The toilets are reasonable although some maintenance work needed.

Moon Plains — A must-visit in Nuwara Eliya! Absolutely beautiful and breathtaking views! From the top, you can see seven of the highest mountains in Sri Lanka — a truly stunning sight. You can drive your own vehicle up to the ticket counter, and from there, you need to hire a safari jeep (around LKR 3000). The jeep takes you to the viewpoint, where you get about 20 minutes to enjoy and take photos. If you’re lucky and there’s no mist, you’ll be treated to a 360° panoramic view that’s simply unforgettable. A peaceful and refreshing place, perfect for nature lovers and photographers!

We had a great time at Moon Plains in Nuwara Eliya! The views were absolutely stunning, and it was such a peaceful place to enjoy nature. Our tour guide was excellent—very knowledgeable and explained everything so well. It made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a lovely visit with unforgettable scenery!

This is the entrance of the moon plains. You need to buy ticket rs 100 and you MUST get a safari vehicle rs 3000. It can carry 6-7 people. Make sure You cannot walk to moon plains from here. You must take a vehicle. From here its 2km to moon plains. You will get safari feeling. 1 hour journey. Lot of places you can see from this place.

We attended a Naadhagama musical session to this place. The mix was magical! We really couldn’t believe we weren’t in a movie scene with the amazing views and landscapes. The place was a little bit sunny but cool. You can really enjoy the views coupled with a 10 min jeep ride

Hidden World’s End in Nuwara Eliya town. The view from the top is absolutely stunning — definitely the main (and only) highlight. You need to hire a safari jeep to get there, which costs around 3000 LKR. Walking to the top isn’t allowed, so jeep is the only option. Important note: I wouldn’t recommend this trip for pregnant women due to the rough and bumpy ride. Overall, it’s worth it if you’re going just for the view — but don’t expect much else in terms of activities or facilities.

Moon Plains in Nuwara Eliya is the perfect spot to relax after a long hike at Horton Plains. The best part is the safari jeep tour—it’s so easy to enjoy the scenery without having to walk after all that trekking. Very tasty fresh food. You have wait bit time, because they serve just cooked food mostly. Not too much time. But waiting is valuable when you eat the food. Exactly real vegetarian recipe and taste. 👌👌👍

Superb Place to have vegetarian foods. We've tried few types of dosa and ulunthuvadai. Foods are very tasty. Staff is very friendly. Space of the restaurant is bit small. Love this place all... had a great meals. Super super clean and tidy. Good place to eating Tamil foods. I had dosa and ulunthuvadai that was so delicious.. 🥣🥣🍴

Absolutely delicious! Highly recommend. We had a masala dosa, an onion dosa, 2x Vadas and 2x black tea for 850 rupees. Great service, freshly prepared food and exceptional value.

Great vegetarian cafe opposite seeta Hanuman Hindu temple. Very clean cheap and wonderful owner and wife. Home cooked food. Nice Sri Lankan coffee. Bus stop to nuwara eliya right outside the door. I had beautiful dosa masala with vegetable curry and coconut sambal dressing

nice cenic location with the Nuwaraeliya lake view. out side dining also available. Family friendly environment. Tehy didnt accept VISA cards I have to drive to town to get cash. we have tried Pizza and few rice dishes. Rice disshes were better than Pizza. Wash rooms not that clean but better compared to average level. Their service take time but you can walk around until your meal ready. over all a good place to have a lunch with your family. we enjoyed the time there than a inhous dining.

We visited the boathouse restaurant for a dinner date. The food was delicious. Especially the Spaghetti Carbonara. Loved it. We visited on a Thursday. Since it was the middle of a work week, me and my hubby were the only ones there. There was nobody else. It was sooo peaceful❤️ Recommend it to anybody planning to have a romantic date.

Had the lunch with my family. Ordered Chicken fried rice and chicken fried noodles and a devilled chicken portion. They were not good, but eatable. And the cost is too much for such a small portion. Funny thing is that they don't have even a card payment facility. Never recommend to any one.

The location of this restaurant is highly unique considering it is located directly next to Gregory lake. It looks as if it is almost a part of the Gregory Park too. This place offers a lovely outdoor dining area. However, the rates seem a bit too high considering the quality of the food as well as the quality of the establishment. Therefore, only a handful of local travelers would choose this place. Although, the place is relatively popular among foreigners.

We had lunch here, and while the setting is great the food wasn't. I had maybe the worst attempt at a pizza I've ever had. I even had to ask them to put it back in the oven to finish cooking it. A first! My wife had a king prawn curry. The prawns were good, but the sauce was really watery.

Absolutely great place. Great view. Pleasant chalets with fully wooden interior. Great place to spend a long weekend with less crowds. Direct access to the Gregory Lake where lots of fun activities such as jet-skiing, boat rides and many more are there to experience. View of the Gregory Lake directly from the rooms is mesmerizing to see every morning. Recommend for honeymooners.

If you are coming here to chill and for hookah, i want to tell you that their service is not gonna suit you. Hookah is 1750 SR, and they only provide 2 small charcoals that last 10 mins, after that they say 2 new ones for 500 SR. But what made me mad is that they don't tell you that in the beginning and they don't list it in the menu. Also very rude receptionist. Very nice view but also very bad and rude service. Otherwise, their food is tasty and view is beautiful. I haven’t visited Indian Summer in person, but I ordered a Chicken Kottu through PickMe Foods. The kottu was tasty, but the portion size felt a bit small. It came with only a sauce pack and would have been better if a gravy pack was included as well. On the plus side, they provided a wooden fork and spoon with the order, which was a good point.

This place offers a great view of Gregory Lake. The restaurant is spacious and has ample seating. It was relatively quiet when we visited. We tried their Chicken Biriyani and Mutton Biriyani, as well as the tandori prawns. The biriyani was average, with a good amount of chicken and mutton. Everything was fresh and tasty. The tandori prawns were particularly delicious. They were a must-try for us. Overall, we enjoyed the atmosphere and the food.

The food was very tasty!! We had tomato soup, butter chicken and Biryani with prawns!! Every dish was beyond our expectations 🙌🏽 Staff is really friendly and helpful, highly recommended eating here if you’re up for a warm and comfort food experience ✨

If you want to enjoy hot and flavorful Indian dishes in the cool climate of Nuwara Eliya, this is the ideal place to visit. Even though the Grand Hotel has its own Indian restaurant, I found this one to be more budget-friendly, though not cheap, as it’s one of the prime signature restaurants in Nuwara Eliya. There’s ample parking space for about 6 to 8 vehicles. It’s conveniently located right in front of Gregory Lake, though the downstairs area doesn’t offer a lake view. I’m not sure if there’s upstairs seating, but if there is, it should definitely have a great view of the lake. The food was delicious, and my favorite was the Garlic and Cheese Naan with Butter Chicken. They serve Halal food and have a wide variety of Indian dishes, including vegetarian options. They even offer a Chinese menu with fried rice and other dishes. The staff were professional and spoke excellent English, which makes it easier for foreign visitors to communicate. The only area that needs improvement is the cleanliness and odor of the washrooms. Card payments are accepted, which is convenient.

We visited Indian Summer as a group of 8, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. The security officer was very helpful and even assisted us with parking our van. The manager welcomed us warmly and opened the door for us, which made us feel truly valued. The food was excellent, full of flavour, and served fresh. All the staff were friendly and always smiling, creating a very pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommended for great service and great food! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 ---

Food Quality: The food was below average and poorly executed. 2. Service: Staff were noticeably unattentive and unfriendly. We struggled to get attention for basic requests. 3. Management: The most concerning issue was the lack of oversight. The owner/manager was seated and preoccupied with doing accounting during a busy service period, rather than assisting staff and ensuring customer satisfaction. Below-par food combined with poor service means we will not be returning.

We’ve never had Indian food this good before! The fact that the restaurant is filled with both locals and tourists says it all. The service is quick and efficient, and every dish was packed with amazing flavors. We honestly wish we could have gone back several times. Highly recommended.

Victoria Park is a very nice place to visit, especially in the evening with family, friends, and children. It’s a relaxing spot — cool and peaceful in the morning and evening, though a bit sunny during the day 🌞. The ticket price is 120 LKR for local adults and 60 LKR for children. You can stay here until 6:30 PM.

You can easily find this place. Multiple entrance there. Tickets price 120 for per person. The wind was high. But still you can enjoy the nature. But this place can be improved more to attract more people. There are sign mentioned not to pluck flowers from the garden. Not much bug park. Children can enjoy. You can park vehicles from the outside the garden. There is a restaurant available. Security guards there.can spend some time there. Also photography service available on extra charge.

Botanical garden in Nuwara Eliya with hundreds of species of plants on display. It also has a jade garden built by a Japanese ambassador during the British raj. There is an entry fee for foreign tourists. Plenty of sections like rose garden, tulip gardens etc. and great options for Insta enthusiasts to take pictures.

I visited Victoria Park in Nuwara Eliya recently. It’s a beautiful place with lots of greenery and a peaceful atmosphere, but unfortunately the children’s park is not well maintained. Some of the play areas need proper care and improvement. With better maintenance, it could be a wonderful spot for families to enjoy.

Most amazing park I've ever been to. It's a must visit in Nuwara Eliya. Saw many types of plants and birds and took many beautiful pictures there. The fee for adults is only 1000 LKR which is good in my opinion.

We stayed at the Grand for night while on a 2 week trip to Sri Lanka for our honeymoon. On arrival we were greeted with a cup of tea and very friendly staff! Our room was fantastic with a lovely cake waiting for us to celebrate! The cocktail bar was sophiscated yet cozy and the food throughout was amazing! Ajanthra, Nathu and Bilal were especially accommodating and my husband loved talking about the cricket. The gardens are also a must see. We wish we had stayed another night!

Review of the Grand Hotel, Nuwara Eliya We had breakfast at the hotel, which was the typical large buffet you find in many Sri Lankan hotels. A large (and rather noisy) bus tour group was occupying the main restaurant, so the waiter kindly seated us in the conservatory instead — a quieter and much more pleasant spot to enjoy breakfast. The hotel has three restaurants, which is useful given that dining options in Nuwara Eliya are limited. We chose the Thai restaurant and it was excellent — beautifully prepared food and good service. Our deluxe room was on the smaller side, as is often the case in Victorian-era hotels. Finding space to open two suitcases took some creativity, but the bed was exceptionally comfortable and made for a good night’s sleep. Gardens The gardens are immaculate — clearly well cared for and a real highlight of the property. Pool, Sauna & Steam The indoor pool is small but stylish and peaceful. It’s completely enclosed, so there are no views, but the atmosphere is calm and relaxing. Because of the limited space, guests need to book time slots for swimming. There’s also a sauna and steam room, though these come with an additional charge — which felt like an unnecessary bit of upselling. Staff & Service The staff lean a little too heavily into the hotel’s sense of grandeur — very formal and a touch over-fawning for my taste. At check-in, the receptionist spent a long time enthusiastically promoting the hotel’s restaurants and cocktail bar. Amusingly, when we went to the bar that evening, only water was available due to the Buddhist full moon festival. Cocktail Bar We tried again the following night and were glad we did. The bar is a lovely, cosy yet elegant space, and the staff were knowledgeable and engaging. They make excellent cocktails with a local twist — the Ceylon Cassis is highly recommended.

The Grand Hotel is a must stay for anyone travelling to Nuwara Eliya. The hotel retains its old world charm while still making for a modern, comfortable stay. The grounds are beautiful and a pleasure to stroll around and the staff are welcoming and friendly. Special mention to Upul in the gym who was helpful and made going to the gym a fun experience. Our only wish would be that the gym is expanded (potentially add some lower body machines), which I’m sure would let Upul shine even more. The hotel itself presents more as a 5 star hotel than a 4 star as listed on Google. Overall a great stay and we will definitely be back.

First and foremost, it's important not to have high expectations of a premium establishment when visiting this Italian restaurant. It appears to be run primarily by a single woman, who manages a cozy space with just three or four tables. The menu focuses on pizza and pasta, accompanied by a limited selection of beverages like juices and soft drinks. We were impressed by the variety, with over twenty types of pizza on offer. The pizzas come in one substantial size, which is a full and well-portioned meal for two. Our pizza was indeed very tasty, characterized by a thin crust that was generously loaded with cheese, vegetables, and other ingredients. It's worth noting that this thin crust can be delicate; the first pizza she baked for us broke, and she graciously remade it, though this did add an extra 15 minutes to our wait. The restaurant is currently undergoing improvements, with an upper floor under construction to enhance the service. For now, facilities include a common outside restroom. Be aware that there is no dedicated parking space, and card payments are not currently accepted. A charming detail is that the tables are covered in positive reviews from previous customers, which we enjoyed reading. As we were leaving, the owner thanked us sincerely for visiting her small place, a gesture we found to be genuinely humble and appreciative.

This is hands down the best pizza I’ve ever had which is way better than Giovanni’s, trust me! Salmiya serves truly authentic Italian pizza made with high-quality, fresh ingredients. We also tried the garden salad, which was packed with fresh veggies and absolutely delicious. The lady who served us was super friendly and welcoming, adding to the great experience. While the place isn’t set up for fine dining and the exterior may not look fancy, don’t let that fool you, the food more than makes up for it. It’s just a 5-minute walk from Gregory Park, and we’ll definitely never skip this spot again whenever we’re in Nuwara Eliya.

We had an amazing time at Lake Gregory. The Place was so peaceful with stunning views of the lake surrounded by misty mountains. The boat rides, jet ski and bicycle ride experience were thrilling and gave us a different way to enjoy the lake. Gregory Lake is a beautiful place in Nuwara Eliya, but it also has a not-so-good side. The small shops nearby sell food at very high prices, and most of them aren’t very hygienic, so it’s better to avoid eating there. Also, visiting during the peak season isn’t recommended because the traffic gets really heavy, and even the boat rides are quite expensive.

Good place for spent quality time with your family. Also you can enjoy boat ride in the lake.

The beauty of Nuwara Eliya is attributed to Gregory Lake which is located at the heart of the city. Its pristine and clean water convinces you for a walk by the lake or a boat ride to appreciate its beauty. Do take a walk in the morning, beware of dogs, though. The garden alongside the lake is closed in the morning as it has an entry fee, may be they should keep it open in the morning too.

I visited Themparadu Restaurant with my wife, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. The food we received tasted like it had been stored in the refrigerator and was definitely not worth the price we paid. The service was also very poor — the staff seemed to pay more attention to foreigners and did not treat local guests with the same care. The only positives were the atmosphere and the beautiful decor, which were quite good. But apart from that, I would not recommend this restaurant.

We ate here on our 2 evenings in nuwara eliya. The food was really super creative and one of the best we've had in Sri Lanka so far. The team is super pleasant and eager to please, only the music was a little bit too loud - but you could overlook that. I can really only recommend chicken in the bee! The homemade mayo and mojo were also a dream.

Lover's Leap Waterfall is a beautiful and peaceful spot just a short drive from Nuwara Eliya town. The walk to the falls takes you through lush tea plantations, making the journey just as scenic as the destination . The waterfall itself is stunning, cascading from around 30 meters high into a quiet, green setting . The site is tied to a poignant local legend about a prince and a village girl who leapt from this spot to be together forever, which adds a layer of history and mystery to the visit . The path is relatively easy, but I'd recommend wearing comfortable shoes with good grip as it can be uneven and slippery, especially after rain . It's a great stop to enjoy nature, take in the views, and capture some beautiful photos away from the busier town centers . The best time to visit is in the morning or early afternoon for clear weather.

It’s a popular spot for nature lovers, hikers, and those seeking a peaceful escape with a touch of romance. The trail to the waterfall is scenic and relatively short, passing through Pedro Tea Estate, making the journey just as memorable as the destination. Also it was about 200m easy hike.

We got there from center Nanu oya by tuktukfor 609 LKR. Before we visited Victoria parc which has a beautiful landscape and nice flowers. At the exit you pass by the pink post office where you can write and send postcards like in the 19th century . Picking up a Tuktuk with some negotiations will bring you to 2.5 km and 15 min ride to the entrance of the lovers leap waterfall . The climb will take you around 20 mins bit the view is spectacular . There is an easier descent with 500 m walk to the Main Street where taxi pickup is easier . Nanu Oya is a worthy stopover and our high recommendation for a stay is Suriya Guesr hotel with the Ayurvedic Cafe .

My guide Alex in the Galway Heights hotel organised a tuk tuk to take me to Lovers Leap waterfall. It is very uneven , rocky ground and the path is difficult even for a tuk tuk. Alex accompanied me on this Walk from the point the driver could go no further. He knew where to get the best photos from. It is a beautiful waterfall and a lovely viewing point for the surrounding lush tea plantations and vegetable gardens.

You anyway have to do a minimum of 200m hike to reach this place but it is not difficult. What we did was to park the car in lovers leaf main road ( coordinates 6.974070215509155, 80.78391208535895) and walk to the waterfall since the road condition beyond that location was not good as per our comfort. Therefore we had to walk a total of about 900m to reach the place but the journey was not that hard. you can follow foot path to reach the waterfall. vehicle parking anyway is not easy to find in the car park areas shown in google map. waterfall is beatiful and the walk is worth considering the experience and the beautiful view

Lovers Leap Waterfall is a lovely spot, but getting there requires a short uphill walk through tea plantations. The path can be slippery after rain, so wear proper shoes. The waterfall isn’t huge, but it’s quite pretty and the surrounding view is worth the effort. It’s not a commercialized area, so don’t expect shops or facilities — just pure nature and calm surroundings.

The waterfall does not require and tickets, its a hike through the town and tea farms, you can have a stop at the bottom of the waterfall or if you don’t mind getting your hands dirty you can climb to the top for a better view of nanu oya and the small water pond hidden between bushes

Food is good though on the sweet and salty side, service on par with a high end restaurant. Lovely river prawns although the sauce could do with less salt.

After two consecutive days of disappointing dining experiences in Kandy, this was our first truly pleasant meal. We loved the colonial décor and the restaurant’s charming ambience. The staff were attentive and helpful, and the food was served surprisingly quickly—quite the opposite of the slow service we encountered in many other parts of Sri Lanka. The portions were generous, and the dishes were very tasty, comparable to what we had in Thailand. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here and loved the hotel in general.

The overall setting is a level above the Grand Indian restaurant outside the Grand Hotel entrance, which is also very good. In March 2024, we ordered Thai fusion chicken cashew nut (Rs.4000), green curry fried rice (Rs.3200) and Phad Thai (vegetable, chicken, prawn, Rs.3800). We were very impressed by the smell, flavour and texture of the food: delicious. The food was spicy on a delicate level. Not too spicy but enhancing it rather than overshadowing it. Dining comes with table service: drinks are poured for you and food is served on your plate. We were positively surprised by the bill: very acceptable for this culinary level. The food, ambience, service and price impressed us. The Grand Thai offers exquisite dining. Highly recommended.

We went to have dinner at 9:20pm. The waiter seemed to be on rush for no reason. The dessert was delivered long before the main course. The faluda ice cream melted by the time we were done eating our meals. There was no server to serve the biriyani. We were not offered any table water. When we finished our dinner, I asked if it is at all possible to serve table water and the waiter seemed surprised that we could ask for water. The other tables were served table water along with the meals. Such poor and subpar service was unexpected from Grand Hotel. Truly disappointing.

Had a wonderful candle light dinner. Had some great naan. We were helped by the amazing staff to pick the matching dishes to complement the naan. So thought to give Kavindi a shoutout for the nice service she gave to us. Would definitely return when we come back to Nuwara Eliya…

We had a lovely experience at this Grand Indian restaurant! The chicken curry was rich and flavorful, the garlic cheesy bread was absolutely delicious, and the rice was perfectly cooked. What made the visit even more special was the amazing service — Pedu was incredibly kind and professional , and Praba was also very kind and attentive. They both made us feel right at home. Highly recommend this place for both the food and the wonderful people!

They are miles away from becoming a “grand” restaurant. Disappointing service and below average food. 1. They forgot to serve us any water. There were 3-4 waiters roaming around and didn’t notice that a table was running without any water. 2. It’s a standard procedure in Indian restaurants to serve biryani from the dish to the plates. But here, although the dish was full to the brim with biryani, the waiter didn’t offer to serve it. 3. Falooda is a dessert. You can consider it as a dessert drink, but don’t serve it before the meal without asking! Disappointed. At this price point it was really disheartening to receive subpar food and service.

The Central Market in Nuwara Eliya is a small yet convenient spot with a handful of stalls offering goods at reasonable prices. We purchased fresh vegetables and fruits, which were of good quality. It’s a great place for those looking for locally sourced produce at affordable rates.

We also had the chance to visit the Nuwara Eliya Market during our trip, and it was a lively and colorful experience that gave us a real taste of local life. The market is vibrant and full of energy, with stalls lined up selling a wide variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, local snacks, warm clothing, and souvenirs. The produce was incredibly fresh — we even picked up some juicy strawberries and locally grown vegetables at great prices. What made the experience even better was how friendly and welcoming the vendors were; most of them were happy to chat, offer samples, and give suggestions on what to try. Apart from groceries, the market also has stalls selling jackets, sweaters, scarves, and woolen items that are perfect for Nuwara Eliya’s chilly weather — very useful if you're not fully prepared for the cold! We also noticed quite a few unique local crafts and handmade goods that would make perfect gifts or travel keepsakes. The market is clean, easy to walk around, and located right in the heart of the town, so it’s very convenient to visit. Whether you’re looking to shop for essentials, try local flavors, or just soak up the culture, the Nuwara Eliya Market is definitely worth a stop. A must-visit spot if you want to experience the local vibe and support small businesses! ✨️

This location is not a tourist attraction unless one is spending a significant amount of time in Nuwara Eliya and may be considering purchasing groceries and meat. A word of caution though, the meat was just placed like that, most of it was placed open, so not sure if everyone will be comfortable buying that. And I was unable to find one thing that I was look for, strawberries for my child.

This is not really a tourist attraction, but a good place to buy fruits, vegetables and other things when you are in Nuwara Eliya. Parking available on both ends of the building. Plenty of shops and plenty of birds flying around as well. Prices are lower than what you would find in the mainstream supermarkets.

Central Market is a place accessible easily in Nuwaraeliya WHEN YOU WANT TO BUY ALL YOUR COOKING STUSS UNDER ONE ROOF. vegetables, spices, fruits, meet, fish and other ingirrdiants required for your cooking. This place is an amazing stopover. As soon as you enter, you’re greeted with a refreshing cup of freshly brewed tea. The menu is small but offers a variety of delicious options. The parking area is a great spot to take photos, offering a beautiful view. One of the highlights is the free factory visit, where you can learn about the tea-making process, different types of tea, and much more. They also have a selection of exotic teas for purchase. This place is definitely worth a visit.

Well, the scenery is simply breathtaking. The tour of the tea processing system was very entertaining and educational. We all thoroughly enjoyed the tour. We got to go right into the various stations to experience the environments. If you love tea this is definitely a spot for you to visit. Give yourself 2-3 hours.

Nice and ambitious tea lounge with a tea factory attached. The milk tea is really good and tasty at a very reasonable price. Conveniently located on the way to Haputale town, easy to find and a perfect spot to take a rest during a long ride. Washroom facilities are also available, which makes the stop even more comfortable. Satisfied and recommended 😐 Not great welcome and friendly service. But ok

They have a good collection of tea varieties. Tour guide guide that I was a very pleasant person and very knowledgeable. The ONLY reason why I am giving 1 star is that I was not treated well by the wait staff. I was told that they offer tea tasting but wait staff rudely told me that I will only get black tea. I was fine with that. But then few minutes later, tea tasting was offered to white people next table. I did confrim from the tour guide lady and she did confirm that tea tasting is offered. Complete disappointment. However, the sales staff was very courteous and polite and that is the only reason why I purchased approx 50k worth of tea.

We had literally the warmest experience during our trip to Nuwaraeliya at the Labookellie Tea Lounge! We were warmly welcomed and served by a service staff who genuinely love hospitality, I must mention! We tried their Butter cake and Milkmaid Tea. I had the tastiest slice of butter cake that I’ve ever tried!! It was bouncy soft and airy topped with a thick caramel topping to die for! You’ll witness the richest taste of Ceylon Tea when take the first sip of the rich brown, thick, perfectly flavored and sweet tea they serve you. I would definitely visit Labookellie Tea Lounge on my next visit to Nuwaraeliya, well maybe on my way back home as well! To make sure I wouldn’t disappoint my tea loving soul, I purchased the quality BOPF pack of tea, until next time! 😊☺️

A bit of a drive from Nuwara Eliya, but the estate itself is beautiful and worth seeing. The tea lounge was lovely- we were each offered a cup of tea to try, and the cakes (paid separately) were fresh and tasty. The factory tour and tea tasting were good, though we found the tea sold here a bit pricier compared to outside shops. We would have loved to try the estate safari, but at 20,000 LKR it felt too expensive. Overall, a nice experience in a beautiful setting, just be prepared for higher prices if you wish to buy their tea to take back home.

We just went to play golf-first off the price was insane and different to what was advertised. Anyway we went to the driving range anyway, we had a lovely game and the man collecting the balls even gave me tips and came across lovely. We were having a lovely time and when it came to the end we gave the man a tip- a nice gesture on our behalf to say thank you. To this he then said it wasn’t enough and demanded 10,000. He then startered saying how his wage wasn’t enough last month, my partner and I explained we had no more cash on us and the man got increasing angry. Course was lovely staff need to be more polite

The course is very well maintained and has a lot of different obstacles, I lost 5 balls in the first 4 holes. Buy more balls if you are prone to hitting in the trees. For the €80/€60 you only get the green fee (permission to play 18/9 holes) you DON’T get balls, tees ore clubs. A caddie is included within the greenfee price. Don’t forget a shirt with a collar because you need one to play. If you don’t have one you will have to buy one for minimum €25,-.

Our office recently had a fantastic trip to the Nuwara Eliya Royal Golf Club for a dinner. the Club feels like a journey back in time. The historic clubhouse, with its colonial charm and ambiance, is a true highlight. It's the perfect place to unwind after a round of golf, with a cozy bar and beautiful view. The club's facilities are great for a group. The cozy and classic atmosphere of the clubhouse was excellent for our dinner night, The buffet was a highlight, offering a good variety of food that everyone enjoyed. The combination of its historical charm, natural beauty, and accommodating service made our trip a memorable.

A different experience that's NOT a hotel, yet you feel it's a hotel! Loved the food, the new wing of the rooms, the service,ambience and the location. We had a bit of an unpleasant experience as our room smelled ( the previous guests had had a baby and the baby has probably peed in the mattress) yep...it smelled like a toilet!! I don't blame the cleaners, as the smell wouldn't come immediately after. However ,they made sure to immediately change our room and make our stay a comfortable one! Other than that,the rest of the stay there was a wonderful one, with their cottage pie and the Hot Toddy( it definitely soothed my sore throat) was two of my favourites.

Lovely setting and I heard the course is good. I had gone to their Cafe for a tea and found the service average and coffee was poor. Food menu looked totally old world.

This is a charming place for anyone who loves strawberries. They offer a great selection of strawberry-based treats like fresh juice, creamy milkshakes, and soft, tasty pancakes. We tried the fresh strawberry pancake with cream. It was delicious. The cream was rich and tasty, and the strawberries were fresh and full of flavor. The prices are a bit on the expensive side, so it may not be the cheapest option. But the quality is very good. One of the best parts is that you can see the strawberry farm right next to the shop. It is nice to see where the berries come from. It gives a fresh and real feeling to the whole experience.

The quality of strawberries, strawberry jam, chocolates are so good ! We always go here if we are in Nuwara Eliya. Specially because they have Raspberry jams and occasionally other types of berries too. Even the food they prepare like strawberries with chocolate sauce, etc are really good potions 😍👌🏽 even though it’s not the most fanciest place ever, it has this vibe which is unique to them I guess. But can be cleaner I think.

Adma Agro is a must-visit if you're in Nuwara Eliya. The strawberries are fresh and flavorful. Their strawberry treats, like juices, milkshakes, pancakes, and ice cream, are delicious. The shop is clean and cozy, with beautiful scenery all around. The staff is friendly and helpful. You can even see the strawberry plants growing behind the shop. It's a perfect spot to enjoy something fresh and local. I highly recommend it!

They have the handmade jam and fresh strawberries. But maybe we were a little bit unluckily that the strawberries were not so sweet. But it was nice to head by and try some fresh strawberries.

‼️ I was disappointed with one of their products — the Strawberry Chocolate. ❌🍓🍫 The packaging and marketing suggest that it contains a rich blend of chocolate and strawberries, but in reality, it only includes a very small amount of strawberry powder. The actual product looks quite different from the images shown on the packaging, and unfortunately, the taste of the chocolate itself was not satisfactory. I would not recommend spending your money on this particular item, as it does not meet the expected quality. Additionally, the food items at this location are priced higher than in other nearby places. We also tried a cheesecake during our visit, which we would rate 6/10. The flavor was acceptable, but the presentation was poor — the cake was served already broken into two pieces.

The food is delicious, but the portion sizes feel too small for the price. Considering the current ambience and service, it doesn’t quite feel like value for money.

Visiting Pidurutalagala,the highest peak in Sri Lanka, was a fantastic experience. The drive up the well-maintained road offers stunning views of the surrounding hills and tea plantations. At the summit, the panoramic view of the central province is simply breathtaking, especially on a clear day. The area is a high-security zone managed by the Sri Lankan military, which makes it feel very safe and clean. Be prepared for a short 20-minute walk from the parking area to the summit viewpoint. There's a small canteen run by the army at the top where you can get a hot cup of tea. Remember not to stop your vehicle on the road for photos, as there are signs of wildlife, including leopards. The mountain is open to the public until 4:00 PM or 5:00 PM.

Piduruthalagala, the highest mountain in Sri Lanka, is a high-security zone housing radar towers and a military base. While public access for sightseeing was permitted after COVID-19, it was initially fully restricted and later allowed only with prior permission from the Ministry of Defense. However, at the time of this review, that prior permission is no longer required for visitors. The mountain is situated within a protected forest range, so you must first purchase tickets at the counter before the security entrance. Please note that while the ticket counter is scheduled to open at 8:00 AM, during my visit the individual arrived and opened it around 8:30 AM. The cost depends on the number of people, their nationality, and whether they are adults or children. Additionally, a separate ticket is required for your vehicle; my car, for instance, was charged Rs. 800. The next step is the security checkpoint. Here, you must submit a piece of paper detailing the full name and NIC or passport number of every traveler, one contact number, your vehicle number, and the name of the police station closest to your residence. Having this information prepared in advance will significantly speed up your entry. Once cleared, the 5 to 6 km journey to the summit begins. The road is well-constructed and winds all the way up the mountain, with no stopping permitted along the route. A dedicated car park is available at the top, along with two cafeterias. As this is an active military base, most areas are restricted; it is essential to stay only in the permitted zones. Typically, an army officer will escort your group to the viewpoint and explain the sights visible from the summit. For the best experience, it is highly recommended to visit on a clear day, preferably during the morning hours, for optimal visibility.

Pidurutalagala, also known as Mount Pedro, is the highest mountain in Sri Lanka (2,524 m) and one of the most memorable stops in Nuwara Eliya. The drive up is scenic, winding through misty forests, and after a quick security check you can reach the summit by vehicle. The top is a highly secured zone with the national television broadcasting centre and radar system, but visitors are free to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and panoramic views over Nuwara Eliya and the surrounding hills. On clear days, the scenery is breathtaking. There’s also a small canteen at the summit, and I highly recommend trying the hot pol roti with lunu miris and plain tea – super tasty and perfect with the cool mountain weather. It adds a cozy, local touch to the experience. Visitor tips: Carry NIC/passport for the security checkpoint (expect a queue sometimes). Parking space is limited, large vehicles can take up room. Washrooms are available but not well maintained(not recommended). Morning visits give the best chance of clear skies. Standing at the highest point in the country, enjoying the views and a warm roti in the mist, makes this a must-do experience in Nuwara Eliya.

The highest point in Sri Lanka offers panoramic views of the surrounding Nuwara Eliya area. Sri Pada can also be seen from here. Numerous mountains and beautiful scenery are visible from this vantage point. On clear days, many mountain peaks become visible, making the view even more stunning.

Mountain Piduruthalagala is located near Nuwara Eliya. This is the highest mountain in Sri Lanka, rising to an elevation of 2,524 meters (8,281 feet) above sea level. The mountain is a special landmark in the Central Highlands and serves as a telecommunication and broadcasting center. Access is restricted due to the presence of a military radar station, but the surrounding areas offer stunning 360-degree views of surrounding hills, and lush tea plantations. And recently open for local and foreigners.

This was my second visit to Pidurutalagala Mountain Peak. The last time I came here, a few years ago, we had to obtain permission from the Ministry of Defence before visiting. Now, anyone can visit without prior permission, which makes it much easier to explore. Since it’s located within a national sanctuary, you need to purchase tickets at the entrance. The place is absolutely beautiful, offering stunning scenic views of Nuwara Eliya town and the surrounding areas. It’s a must-visit spot if you’re in Nuwara Eliya!

The place closes at 5pm, so be there during the early hours of the day after 8am, you better take a decent vehicle, I prefer a Spacia or Wagon R for a city car, or any 4W Drive, sperate tickets for person and vehicle so make sure you got Rs 1000 for a single person, the vehicle will only be charges once, respect the advice of the military personnel there, who were quite helpful, restricted areas are maximum security areas and visiting required the permission and approval of the Ministry of Defence of Sri Lanka.

At first, we didn’t want to go in because of how it looked, but we checked the reviews and ended up eating really well! They have several floors, depending on whether you’re there to drink, eat, if you smoke or not. Good food, prices are a bit on the high side but still okay. I would recommend it.

A dark pub with wooden chairs and tables, and large photos on the wall. Lots of character, here in the states it would be considered a dive bar, my favorite type... Awesome service, excellent draft beer, and very good prices. Had the Lion Strong draft, which was surprisingly tasty. All they need now is to get Lion Stout draft (the best beer created by Lion Brewery) and I will be in heaven!

Unbelievably good inexpensive food. Hidden gem of Nuwara eliya. The lion pub special mixed meat over rice was big enough for two people with lots of meat and veggies. The pizza was fresh and tasty. The price was much less than other places around and the food better.

It is located on a hilltop and it's a windy road trip up. It is a popular stop for travellers on the Ramayana trail. There is long steep stairs from the carpark to the temple and some may find it a hard climb. Amazing landscape views from the temple grounds. To enter the temple one must be attired properly including ladies covering their legs. Garments are available for hire before the stairs. Need hat, comfy shoes, water, moderate fitness to climb.

The silence and the divine vibrations of this temple is something I’ll cherish for a long time. If in Sri Lanka, this is a must visit irrespective of your religious beliefs. Just walking around this place is enough to experience bliss!

The Bhakta Hanuman Temple in Sri Lanka — such a peaceful and divine place! The 40 ft Hanuman statue is truly magnificent and inspiring. The temple surroundings are calm and serene, and the mountain view right in front of the temple adds to its beauty. A must-visit spot for anyone traveling around Ramboda or Nuwara Eliya — it’s a place where you instantly feel peace and positivity.

Hanumanji's temple (visited on 24th Oct 2025), having mythological significance, is located off Kandy-Nuwara Eliya route where you can experience peace and calmness. The temple, with the tallest statue of Hanumanji in Sri Lanka, overlooks the beautiful valley and has a large complex with a cafe and a souvenier shop. It also offers a dedicated vegetarian dining having good taste, so please keep this in mind when in sri lanka and looking for vegetarian option, although we just got a sambhar as jain.

One of the biggest temples and tallest Hanuman statue in Sri Lanka. It is situated on a hill overlooking the Kotmale reservoir. Very calm and full of spiritual energy. The main temple is tall building and you have to take stairs to reach the area. Parking is available near the hill. The view to the reservoir is serene and beautiful. It said to be the place where Shri Ram assembled the troops before the final battle of Ramayan. No tickets for entry.

Shree Bhakta Hanuman Kovil is a serene and spiritual temple set on a hilltop, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The highlight is the impressive and grand statue of Lord Hanuman, which stands tall and majestic against the sky. Reaching the temple doesn’t require too much of a climb, making it accessible for most visitors. Once at the top, the peaceful atmosphere combined with the panoramic views makes the visit well worth it. Do keep in mind the dress code: no shorts or off-shoulder tops, long hair should be tied, and hats are not allowed inside. Following these guidelines ensures a respectful and smooth experience. A beautiful spot for both devotees and visitors who want to enjoy a mix of spirituality, culture, and scenic beauty.

The Sri Bhakta Hanuman Temple in Ramboda  is a serene and spiritually uplifting destination. Perched 3,200 ft. above sea level, it offers breathtaking views of tea plantations and misty hills. The temple, dedicated to Lord Hanuman, is believed to mark the spot where he rested during his journey to Lanka. The peaceful ambiance, combined with the majestic Hanuman statue, makes it ideal for prayer and meditation. Worship rituals at 8 AM, 12 PM, and 4 PM add to the devotional experience. Managed by the Chinmaya Mission, the temple is well-maintained and exudes positive energy. Its location—between Kandy and Nuwara Eliya. 46km from Kandy and 30km from Nuwara Eliya, makes it a perfect stop for travelers exploring the hill country. The surrounding waterfalls and lush greenery enhance its tranquil charm. A must-visit for spiritual seekers and nature lovers alike!

I ordered string hoppers with fish curry. I’m sorry to leave a negative review, but I’ve had better. The milk tea was good, though it took far too long, about 15 minutes. Their toilet was out of order so I had to use the public toilet near the bus station.

We ordered beef stew, chicken devilled, chicken rice and kottu.(worth over 6400+ LKR) The beef stew barely had any beef just a few pieces and was mostly filled with carrots. The kottu was extremely disappointing; honestly, it felt like they’ve never even tasted real kottu before. Overall, one of the worst food experiences we’ve had in Nuwara Eliya. Not recommended at all. 🥵🥵🥵🥵 Please avoid this food scammer 🤬🤬

I am very disappointed with my recent order. I ordered Seafood Rice (LKR 1700/=) but was given Chicken Fried Rice instead. On top of that, the rice tasted really bad and was nowhere near worth the price. This kind of careless service and poor quality food is unacceptable. Definitely not satisfied at all. 👎

We visited the Remarko Restaurant branch in the heart of Nuwara Eliya town, right near the central bus stand. It's a very convenient and easily accessible location, which is a major plus. We were excited to try their food as we know they have a few branches around town, suggesting they are a popular local chain. We ordered their Chicken Biryani. Unfortunately, it wasn't at the top of our list. The main issue was that the rice was quite dry and lacked the fluffy, moist texture you expect from a good biryani. The flavour was decent, with some nice spices, but the dryness was a letdown.

Date: October 22, 2025 On the evening of October 22, 2025, I visited this establishment. Initially, the experience seemed pleasant. However, while waiting for my order, I observed a rat 🐀 running across the middle of the restaurant. I also noticed several holes along the walls, suggesting the possible presence of more rats. This situation raises serious concerns about hygiene and cleanliness. It is disappointing to see such conditions in a public dining area. I strongly urge the relevant government health authorities to inspect this restaurant and take appropriate action to ensure public safety and proper sanitation standards.

We were a group of 10 who ordered food for dinner, and I have to say it was a complete waste of money. The service was terrible, and the overall experience was really disappointing. Definitely not worth it.

It's a local bar with food. Prices for alcohol are government stated, so its cheap, but local food is overpriced. We decided to try their vegetable pizza and, oh my god, that was an experience 😁 On their menu picture there were olives, peppers, etc, but in reality it was overloaded with onions and carrots 🤦 I had adventures while looking for soap in this place, as, apparently, it's not a thing, even at the place where you're supposed to eat with your hands.

Very basic but decent restaurant/bar. Mostly beer is served and they have a good selection. Reasonable rate. Lion big bottle for 450 and corona pint for 600. Nice selection of dishes. Tried their devilled chicken and non veg pizza. Both were good. Staff are accommodative. Do note it's a mid level place so keep expectations low.

The pizza was very bad, uncooked, very salty and spicy also if I asked for not spicy. I asked for fries and they came burnt. They charged me full price for all. The place is dirty and everyone smokes making it difficult to breathe.

Did I dare to order garlic prawns? Yes. Before and after pictures of garlic+prawn but in no world this is garlic prawn. Cold prawns and boiled garlic. Thankyou!!???

I came here with a hostel friend. Had a good time trying local flavoured strong beer Ryder. Good local vibes here.

Loved the food, all the items. We were so hungry and each of us ate two plates of meal. The food was fresh. Absolutely lovely atmosphere with a pleasing view of the Lake Gregory (Nuwara Eliya lake). You can take only one piece of protein (chicken/fish/egg) from the buffet item, more than one will be charged.

No frills „rice&curry“ buffet at the side of the road next to Lake Gregory. Lunch is served as of 11-11:30 am. The food tasted good, but was cold as the burners were not on. Washrooms were clean. They also have Rooms, but we didn’t see them.

Best curry and rice I had in Sri Lanka. You can have a light buffet for 4-7kind of curry and both white/red rice. The spicy level differs from each so you can choose. Very reasonable price(600for veg/800 for chicken/fish )and friendly service in the area.

Mount Frost, located near Gregory Park in Nuwara Eliya, offers Sri Lankan buffet options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.The buffet includes only rice and curry. If you want fried rice, it’s available separately from the buffet. Prices are reasonable compared to other places in the area, and washroom facilities are available. They also charge an extra Rs.150/- if you waste food from the buffet, which I think is a fair policy. I’ve visited this place two or three times during my trips to Nuwara Eliya. Taste-wise, the food is average, but it’s still a decent and recommendable choice.

Incredible food especially the chicken rice curry and the view of the lake is incredible. Value for money is totally worth it, I ate 2 full plates of chicken curry plus omelette and coffee for just under 2000.

Buffet lunch was really nice. We tried the vegetarian option and they had lentils, beans, soybean and relish with crisps. All for 550 only! Very reasonable. Staff is very polite and welcoming. Amazing view of the lake too. They were so kind to serve us dinner too on very foggy evening. They served us freshly prepared fried rice which was delicious and not spicy as per our request. 💯

What a pity, we really wanted to try this restaurant, but we found it closed twice. The first time we went for dinner, since online it said closing time was 8 p.m. We arrived around 6 and found the owners, who told us the restaurant was not open for dinner and they didn’t know why the online schedule was wrong. I then asked for confirmation that they were open for breakfast and lunch, as a buffet. They confirmed it. So today we came back before heading to Ella to have the lunch buffet, but once again the restaurant was closed, even though the online opening hours clearly showed it should be open at lunchtime. We even tried calling them three times, but no one answered. Therefore, this review is not about the food—we can’t judge it as we never got to try it—but about the lack of availability and inaccurate information. We wasted our time several times going there, only to find it closed. I hope they solve this problem.

Awesome view from the cafe of Ramboda Falls, price of food are a little on the high side base on food quality and service efficiency. Ordered fish, was told it is boneless but turn out otherwise, chicken Fried rice and Chicken burger was ok. Go for the view of Ramboda Falls but find better restaurants for food.

100% you have to visit. Insane insane insane view. Stopped here on our way from Kandy to Nuwaru Eliya and it was so worth it! Food wise, I had cheese kuttu and it was excellent. 10/10 loved the experience!
