Santa's Village, located in the picturesque town of Bracebridge, Muskoka, is a delightful Christmas-themed amusement park that has been captivating families for over 60 years. Spanning across 60 acres along the scenic Muskoka River, this enchanting destination offers an array of attractions suitable for both children and adults. Visitors can enjoy thrilling activities like go-karts, mini-golf, zip-lining, and rock-climbing while also taking part in seasonal events such as dog shows and Hawaiian luaus.
It was our first time at Santa Village, and the kids had an absolute blast — and so did the parents! This is truly a must-visit destination for families with young children. Despite the sunny weather, the festive atmosphere and all the rides kept everyone entertained. There’s a great variety of attractions, especially for toddlers, and everything is very family-friendly. The highlight for us was seeing Santa and Mrs. Claus outside, warmly greeting every visitor — such a magical touch! The Yeti Ride was definitely a favorite for our family. We’re already planning to come back in winter to experience the full Christmas vibe. Highly recommended for a magical family outing!

I went to Santa’s Village with my family and honestly, I had never heard of it before. When we arrived, I was really surprised by how much fun it was! The new Yeti roller coaster was a blast — my kids loved it and we went on it many, many times. The whole place has a great family vibe and lots to do for kids of all ages. Just a heads up, there are only a few food stands, so it’s best to plan ahead and line up early for lunch before the crowds. Overall, it was a fantastic family day and we’ll definitely be back!

10 Stars, great place to take the family, likely to be enjoyed by kids under 10 but still great for all, staff at all the rides and venues are super friendly not like most Carneys, only food is extra and a few additional like Elf ID card etc, not constant cash grab , there is a gift shop at entrance/ exit. Food was good, rides were good and Yeti coaster was excellent. Great value for your money, free parking even, went on a Saturday and no wait in any line, absolutely amazing experience. Recommend 100%

We had an amazing time at Santa Village! The natural surroundings are absolutely beautiful — tall trees, fresh air, and a peaceful atmosphere that makes it feel like a true getaway from the city. It’s the perfect place for families, especially with young kids. The attractions are really well done and fun for all ages. Our children had a blast exploring all the rides and activities. Everything felt safe, clean, and well-organized. What really stood out to us was the Halloween event — it was magical! The decorations, costumes, and themed activities created such a fun and spooky atmosphere without being too scary for the little ones. It was clear that a lot of thought and effort went into making it special. Santa Village is a fantastic destination for a day trip or weekend adventure with the family. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Spent the day at Santa's Village with the family. An annual trip to Santa's Village is a family tradition and we always look forward to it. The weather was hot today but it didn't bother us at all as we were able to remain cool thanks to the breeze coming off the water and blowing through the trees. That is one of the things I love about Santa's Village, that it is nestled in amongst the trees along the riverside. The rides are great and the natural setting is a beautiful bonus. This visit we were able to test out the new roller-coaster The Yeti! It got two thumbs up from every member of the family except the youngest. We also rode on our family favourite rides like Santa's Summer Sleigh, The train, and the Pepermint Penguin. We decided to give the Yule Log a try for lunch and we're pleasantly surprised. Service was fast and friendly and there was something on the menu to please everyone. Added bonus was the AC and washrooms inside. The highlight of Papa's day was attending Elf School. A fun time was had by all! It is always worth the drive to Bracebridge as every summer needs a bit of Christmas magic!

My wife and I took our daughter. We went this year during the Halloween Spooktacular. She loved the rides had a blast. This is a great family fun park. 2nd time we have gone here, will take her again. Staff was also really friendly. Ohh and got to meet Santa early. Highly recommend for family fun
Justin M — Google review
Fantastic Halloween visit at Santa’s Village—festive, friendly, and perfectly not‑too‑scary for kids. The Pumpkin in the Pines trail, cheerful inflatables, and riverside photo spots made it feel truly magical, and staff kept lines moving and areas spotless. Big thumbs up for the new Yeti Trek coaster: smooth, zippy, and just the right dose of thrills for families without being intimidating. Five stars for a well‑run, memory‑making fall day—we’ll be back!
Eric H — Google review
We stopped here on our way to Huntsville and had such a great time! I visited as a kid, but it was even better coming back with my family. Our daughter loved every part of the day—especially the elf training! The rides were a lot of fun for the whole family, and the staff was so friendly and welcoming. The lines weren’t too bad, and we were pleasantly surprised that the food and ice cream were very reasonably priced. The Yeti Trek Rollercoaster is definitely a must-do! We’ll most likely be back again next summer for another fun visit.

Muskoka Brewery

Brewery
Food & Drink
Muskoka Brewery, established in 1996, is a renowned craft beer producer offering free daily tours. Visitors can explore the brewing process, visit the lab to ensure quality standards, and sample beers in the taproom. Located in Bracebridge, Ontario, it's a popular spot for beer enthusiasts. The brewery is known for its cream ale and Detour IPA.
Muskoka Brewery is a legend. There's no denying its influence or that of its well known Mad Tom line of IPAs. However, their Festbier, a German Oktoberfest amber lager is out-of-this-world! Darker than expected for a lager (that would be the amber part of its parentage) the festbier is full-bodied, leaning more heavily towards the malty characteristics of an amber than a lager. The Winter Beard nitro stout is that rare creature -- a light, creamy, almost effervescent stout that bubbles with life without being too sweet.
Sanjeewa A — Google review
I like the IPAs from Muskoka Brewery. We had two flights, the IPA and the Adventurer. The Pineapple Ninja is very fruity. Love the Hazed, juicy IPA. However, I favourite is the Nitro Latte, the foam is very creamy and actually tasted like coffee. They don’t have much food options there as the food truck isn’t there, so we had to settle for the pretzel with beer dip. I feel like the pretzel was just heated up by a microwave, and it is very tasty with all the salt sprinkled on top, the dip is also very salty, maybe they want you to consume more beer that way. However, with the pretty and dip at $17, I really would recommend people to stay away from it.

Muskoka Brewery is a great stop if you’re in the area. They’ve got a solid selection of drinks to choose from, whether you're into craft beer or just trying something new. The place has a relaxed, vacation-y vibe — perfect for a casual afternoon. They also have some really cute merch and even a few fun, fragrant hand soaps that caught my attention. All in all, it’s a cozy, welcoming spot that fits right in with the laid-back Muskoka feel. And don’t forget to play a quick round of cornhole while you’re there P.S. — the images isn’t of the brewery itself, it’s from the Muskoka cruise — just wanted to share the overall feel of the place!

Very cozy place with a great atmosphere and delicious beer! Each beer has its own character — it’s a joy to try them all. The staff is super friendly, and you feel like you’re visiting old friends. We’ll definitely be back!

Detour ISA it’s the best Canadian beer. It’s just perfect. One the best beer recipe around the world. Should be sold everywhere not only in Canada, other countries should know what’s this guy do.

Perfect place to stop by for a wonderful craft beer. If you feel a little hesitated what to drink, try their flight board. They are even more specified into set of largera, IPAs and more. I saw a lot of people taking a box of beers on their way out after.

Was a fantastic stop on our way to Algonquin! Awesome beer selection and a cozy, welcoming vibe. The tall guy behind the bar was on another level. I accidentally ordered the wrong drink, and he immediately offered to replace it without any hesitation. I tried the beer flight with the bartender’s choice, and you could tell he really put thought into the selection. It really made my day after a long drive from Waterloo.

Muskoka Drive-In

4.7
(450)
Drive-in movie theater
Muskoka Drive-In is a classic cash-only drive-in theater located just outside Gravenhurst, northeast of the town near Highway 11. It has been a local staple since 1952 and offers two screens with different movie options for both adults and kids. The venue also features a playground, clean bathrooms, and a grill serving burgers and other snacks on weekends during the summer.
Do you remember what it was like to go to the drive-in when you were younger? The experience of it? This place is on a very short list of the drive-in movies left in Ontario, and it is a bastion of nostalgia. The operator here was friendly and down to earth. Told us all about how he gets new movies for the season, while we waited for some food to be made right off of a barbecue. And when our vehicle's battery died from me not knowing what to turn off while we used the radio and the wipers during the show, he was very kind in helping us with a boost. Places like this are becoming rarer and rarer in my experience. I recommend going, and then going again to make sure it stays open.

What a great set up. Friendly staff. Organized. We had a great time. Well worth the 2 hour trek! Kids enjoyed the movie, games and concession stand. We will be back! Thanks for having us 🤍
Stephanie R — Google review
Super fun place to go with people of all ages-I went with friends and their kids and we all had a great time. They have a restroom and a good concession stand with lots of hot and cold options. There is also a playground. The popcorn, without the extra topping, is dairy free for those with an allergy like me. Highly recommend, it was a great experience for everyone.
Nicole P — Google review
Went for the first time with the hubby for a date night. We found out it is the oldest continuously running drive-In (73 years!), so for anyone expecting modern-day amenities, the bar will be too high for you here. $60 got us 2 cheeseburgers, 2 hot dogs, 2 popcorn, 2 drinks, and some licorice. (Yes, we were hungry) PS The burgers and hot dogs were made on the barbecue, which is a nice change to a typical flat top fry and the heated rows of rolling dogs. It was small and charming, and brought me back to when I was a child and the exciting nights with the family at the drive-in. It is rough around the edges, but for 73 years old it still provides the entertainment and the nostalgic throwback we were looking for.
Jennifer N — Google review
Love having date night here. Fiancée and I saw two great movies, won a few duckies and had some great snacks! You honestly can’t beat the price especially on car load night and $1 hot dogs. Very essence of the Muskoka community right here. Cannot wait to be a regular this summer
Shinara N — Google review
Such a fun date night! So nice to see a film in the comfort of your own car & it was 2 movies for the price of one! We laughed, we ate popcorn, stargazed between screenings, and enjoyed all the friendly staff. Highly recommend visiting this drive-inn, and don’t skip getting snacks at the concession! Enjoyed the popcorn seasonings flavours and it came is a super cute retro bucket 🍿 Reasonable pricing and a great way to spend the night. They even had jumbo freezies.
Torey H — Google review
We enjoyed our first visit. Good quality screen, sound is very good. Exceeded my expectations. Food is very reasonable and generous portions. My one suggestion is to have a customer service number active during the shows to manage people who insist on leaving their head lights on. I approached one car who was doing so most of the movie and he acknowledged they were on, it wasn’t an accident - but he wanted to run his AC.
Ken M — Google review
we had a great experience at the drive in theatre! The setup was perfect for a relaxed night out. The sound came through the car radio clearly, and the picture quality was really good. The staff was friendly, and the concession stand had all the classic snacks you’d expect. It was a fun change from the usual movie theaters and made for a memorable night. I definitely recommend!

Sawdust City Brewing Co. is located in Gravenhurst, known as "Sawdust City" due to its history of lumber and boat-building industries. The brewery offers tours every Saturday, allowing visitors to explore the 20,000 square foot brewhouse, canning line, taproom, retail store, and patio. The company embraces its heritage and invites guests to take a selfie with the world's largest Muskoka chair before delving into the brewing process.
Wonderful experience on Canada Day here. The service was excellent—everyone was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. They took the time to introduce their drinks and offer great recommendations. I really appreciated the vibe and decor, which added to the overall enjoyable atmosphere. Highly recommend it!

Best fish and chip ever had. Thin crisp batter almost tampura like on thick chunky haddock. Fries are fresh and not greasy. Also had hamburger and wings which were tasty and generous. Friendly and fast service on a busy evening. A selection of beer for every taste bud maybe overwhelming for some.

Driven by many times and never been in before but daughters" raves had finally taken hold...and glad I did. A phenomenal selection of on-site brews and although I am a traditional and basic lager / pilsner person I had a small taste of their RED ROCKET STOUT...and WOW!!!!! A dynamic burst of espresso/dark chocolate opens on the palette to be followed by a totally unexpected CHILI hit on the backside on the way down. I am totally on board and bought four cans for home!!!! Next time I will make it a food stop as their poutine and burgers looked highly delectable LUCKY LOCALS and Muskoka cottagers !!!!.

I really love this place! My favorite is Everyday Magic, and my dad prefer Twin Pines. The fish and chips are great, with super crispy fish skin. The house dry rub wings are a must-try! But what I love the most is that dogs are welcome inside!

Beer is delicious! We went mid-afternoon and sat on the patio, which was nice. Wish there was music! We ordered food and were very underwhelmed with the portion size.. you get 3 spring rolls with dip for 15 dollars and the presentation is hilarious.. see picture I’d go again for a beer but wouldn’t order food!

Sawdust City Brewing Co., or Sagermiller Stadt in Gravenhurst, located just meters away from the birthplace of famed Canadian, Dr. Bethune who is still revered in China for the lives he saved there in the 1930s during the brutal occupation of Manchuria by the Japanese Imperial Army, has a lot to live up to. And it does so with ease. Peavey Hook, the Helles lager is a frisky little beast, dancing and twirling at the end of its leash. It is full of body and flavour. Ol' Woody the Altbier is a dark, ruddy ale, serious of mien and purpose with a touch of the bitterness of regret. Mocha Crunch is an exuberant chocolate stout that balances sweet chocolate with bitter coffee.
Sanjeewa A — Google review
LOVE this micro ... fantastic food, huge (!!) assortment of taps and flavours: something for everyone. Revisited this weekend and the place was hopping - amazing outside patio + live music was a great addition. The smash bruger - redefines smash burgers ... wanted to try the cheeseburger spring rolls but sadly - sold out. Great service. AMAZING swag - clothing, accessories, and (of course) we snagged some cans to bring home - many flavours not on the tap menu. In the area - you must go here !

Relish, situated in a renovated Salvation Army church from the 1900s, is a thriving community hub run by the passionate mother-daughter duo of Emily and Jess Dursely. This jack-of-all-trades shop is not only a kitchen and market but also a small family-run business in Gravenhurst.
Great place to get lunch! They also have a cute little shop with local stuff to buy. I got the build your own wrap which was very fresh and tasty. I recommend you stop here if in Gravenhurst!

Good spot for healthy brunch, very vegetarian friendly. I got 3 items from the deli (make your own platter): the tofu, quinoa with edamame and roasted veggies. The tofu was amazing, seasoning on point. Veggies were fresh, quinoa nice and juicy. One thing that threw me off was that all food was super cold. I guess I expected at least the roasted veggies to be warmed up. Food was really filling and they have generous portion size, got a bag to finish it later. I also got the super latte. Tasted mostly like regular latte, maybe a bit creamier and not very strong coffee taste. The ambience is great, very lively, there’s health items to shop too. Service was fast and everyone was very polite and welcoming, despite how busy it got. Overall, great place to grab healthy food, would come again!

We were looking for a nice place to grab a lunch before going back home from our cottage trip and found this place. The staff were awesome and warm, and very helpful with food choices. The food was really good too. Definitely a revisit the next time we're in town.
Stephen A — Google review
A really nice cafe with lots of fresh sandwiches, wraps, and small bites like samosas and spanakopitas, Relish is a place where I can see local vegetarians stopping regularly. They also have a small foodstuff storefront with more niche products and groceries, and perusing through the selection made it seem like there was practically no wait for our ordered food. Definitely recommend popping by here for a lighter fare lunch that'll still be satisfying in flavour and size.

Cute little cafe in a cute little town. Servers were nice. Drinks were mixed feeling. Wild blueberry was good. But the Tommy latte was a bit too sweet. But inside the vibes were nice, there was a small market with post cards, health supplements etc!

Skyways Restaurant is a highly regarded establishment known for its exceptional cuisine, excellent customer service, and delectable homemade desserts. Patrons frequented this beloved eatery for breakfast on weekends and dinner on Thursday evenings. Although the restaurant had to close temporarily due to the COVID-19 pandemic, customers can still indulge in their delightful baked goods by visiting the counter.

When open food looked pretty good 👍 but please don't disrespect the Canadian 🇨🇦 flag like below. It use to be a place you can grab a meal or fresh baked bread & goods before hitting the cottage, maintenance is lacking

This has been our stop on the way north for years. It was alway great for breakfast & lunch. Stopped today to find restaurant closed so we grabbed 1 muffin, 1 box of glosettes, 1 box skittles, 1 cherry blossom for a total cost of $19.40! No I’m not exaggerating. No prices were marked and bad on us for assuming. Maybe we will just get a pie or tarts if we stop on future trips. Positive note. The bathrooms are immaculate
Kim M — Google review
Great food & great service. We will be back.
Jason B — Google review
Once I reminded the waitress that I was waiting for her to take my order my food showed up pretty quick. I ordered the truckers special which came with 3 eggs 2 bacon 2 sausage and a good size piece of ham. Although definitely not worth $22.50 I paid and left. I probably won't go back because all the prices were ridiculously high. I'll give it one star but they probably don't deserve it.
Leo P — Google review
This restaurant was recommended to me for their breakfast, but I wouldn't pass on the recommendation. It's expensive and the food is mediocre. The home fries are frozen potato puffs and my eggs were way over cooked (scrambled, hard and brown on one side). Service was good, and I liked the quaint vibe but I will never go back. $11 for 3 over cooked eggs, frozen potatoes and white bread from a bag is way, way too much.
Sara H — Google review
My rating is based mostly on price. The service was friendly and attentive and the food came fast and hot. I have dietary restrictions and can't eat gluten. I paid $15 for an omelette with 3 slices of tomato. I would have to be in a real pinch to go back.
Peter L — Google review
We stopped into this place, because it was close to our accommodations. Little did we know we should have driven farther to find a place to eat. When we arrived, the server was very grumpy and seemed impatient with us ordering. I could understand, somewhat, if it was busy, but there were only 4 other people. The server never checked up on us, and the food wasn't that great either. I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki and it was essentially the skewers you can buy in the grocery store. At the end of the meal, we were given the bill without ever being asked if we wanted tea, coffee or desert. Overall, very unkind service which darkens the atmosphere. We noticed that the server had a similar attitude with other customers as well. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

Pub
On February 24, I visited Carey's Pub, a small local establishment. Initially, there were only two other customers present, but the place quickly filled up within half an hour and additional patrons arrived for takeout orders. The staff consisted of two servers who were accommodating and pleasant. They offered a diverse choice of draught beer options and served traditional Irish pub food. For dinner, I had a delightful one-piece cod with fries while my husband opted for their special pierogi 8 oz.
Some of Muskoka's biggest and best chicken wings. Carey's also offers a Burger of the Week and Poutine of the Week feature that has had spectacular creations. The nachos are great and the 'Yorkie Bowl' (a giant Yorkshire pudding filled with mashed potatoes, shaved prime rib and smothered in gravy) is a total game changer.
Bryan W — Google review
Wow! Best wings EVER. They are not lying… biggest and best wings. We had a quick stop in on the way home. The food came quick, the server was kind and the Irish pub theme was cute. We will be coming back again for sure next time we’re this way. I highly recommend anyone looking for a nice spot for dinner. Also they have Ceaser Saturday! Yum.

Excellent wings, the best in Muskoka! They're huge! 😃 Good deal for the size of these wings! This pub needs to be supported by anyone who likes excellent wings!. Tell your friends & keep this place on your radar whenever passing through Gravenhurst like I do. The decor of the pub is so/so, but the food is incredibly good, excellent portions. We travel up to Huntsville on occasion & always stop in on the way up & on the way home. I wish they were in Barrie where I live.

Nice little dive bar. The food is pretty good. Crispy wings are quite large. Traditional poutine is quite nice. The gravy is a bit salty but not everyone is sensitive to salt. Not a bad Chardonnay either.

Friendly service. This is your average local pub. Menu is limited, quite overpriced for all the items. Came here for the Wednesday wings deal, the wings were tasty, tender and crispy. There is an up charge if you want 2 flavours in your set of wings which they don’t tell you. Coming from dining out in Toronto, this menu is really pricey in my opinion for a small town like Gravenhurst. Most likely will not come back.

We ordered the Deep Fried Brie, Fish and Chips (Cod), Yorkie Bowl and Chicken Wings (Dry Maple Bacon & Mango Habanero). A place to visit for unique homemade food experience! The service was great and we are excited to return!

The restaurant Swiss Chalet is a popular spot for families to come and enjoy delicious food and excellent service. The food is always fresh and hot, and the waitstaff are always helpful. The only downside is that it can be difficult to get a seat at times, especially during busy periods.
Staff members were the best I’ve had at any restaurant in a long time ,food was hot and quick to come out highly recommend this spot Bracebridge Swiss chalet ,and happy to see the lemon bowls back

Came to this location maybe a year ago… not sure if the place was re-owned but totally different. I ordered a crispy chicken Caesar salad. The portion came in the same size as the side salad just with chicken on top… sure it is what it is.. no bacon (one of the best parts of a Caesar is the bacon).. once again I’m pretty easy going so it is what it is. My mother and grandmother ordered the quarter chicken meal, and the once genuine quarter chicken is now a quarter of a quarter chicken. Not looking for money back or coupons, just wanting to let the public in the area know that maybe Swiss chalet isn’t the best choice anymore. For the price it’s not worth it. Service was slow but pleasant, dining room was clean.

I visited the Swiss Chalet in Bracebridge last week with my friends, and we had a great experience. The dining area was clean, peaceful, and perfect for a relaxed meal. The staff were friendly and provided quick and efficient service with everything we ordered. I was really impressed! I’ve already recommended it to my other friends and will definitely be going back again.

Great place, nice atmosphere and great service. Ebra was absolutely great service, was amazing even when busy, and food was very good definitely recommend to anyone. For how busy it was he did a great job. Of course for it to be a 5 star it would have to be perfect and that’s almost impossible to get but this place is pretty close. I would give it 4.7 if I could get that close but since I can’t it’s perfect 🤩

Second update:- August 2025 Tried it yet again. Food was good. Washrooms absolutely disgusting. Filthy. Stinky. Service was non existent. After we waited 10 minutes to order, we got our food, and after that no server came. Couldn’t ask for more sauce. Could not order another drink. And funny thing was that we were one of two tables in the entire restaurant. Been 10 minutes again, can’t get the bill still. There’s a reason this place is empty. It’s not the food.

Went there today for lunch. Great service as soon as I walked in. The food came quickly and was nice and hot. The only thoughts are that the bun that came with the meal was very dry and didn't taste too good; and the horseradish that came with the roast beef was very bland. Chicken and fries are always a favorite!!

They don’t even deserve one star, but I have to the worst customer service I called because twice they missed my order and they hung up the phone on me I complain to the manager I told him there’s stuff or missing my order. He was getting mad at me and then he hang up the phone on me. Zero service they do whatever back home they think they can bring their service to Canada. The Canada is gone now no more Canada what was before now so disappointed

Day 2

Proximity is everything
For day 2, we bundled attractions like Torrance Barrens Dark-Sky Preserve and Hardy Lake Provincial Park and other places within a close range, so that the time it takes to travel between all of them is less than one hour. Combined with the average time people spend there, your day should take about 8 hours.

Torrance Barrens Dark-Sky Preserve, located in Gravenhurst, Ontario, is a lush wetland reserve with boardwalk hiking paths and unobstructed views of the night sky. Designated as a Conservation Reserve in 1997, it offers stunning views of distant galaxies due to its hard granite surface. The preserve is easily accessible via District Road 13 off Highway 11 and allows limited free camping.
It was my first time visiting this place, and it was a beautiful and special experience. I truly hope people make an effort to keep such places clean. You lose nothing by taking your empty water bottle with you and tossing it into the nearest garbage bin. The least we can do is protect nature from plastic pollution.

Attempted to visit here on Saturday August2, 2025, upon arriving on site at around 9:00 p.m., was greeted by the opp police and private security that the place was full, no more room to park cars. Didn't know this place can be that busy. Was informed that the place was busy since 7:00 p.m. if you're going on a summer clear weekend I say it's very hard to predict whether it will be busy or not. But it's not very busy during the daytime.

I had a great first visit to this place, and it felt really special! Thanks to Mehrdad for his help and knowledge about astronomy, and for his awesome telescope that let me take a nice picture of the moon. Just a heads up, that night sky wasn’t clear because of smoke, so check the weather before heading to here. Parking space is limited and Ontario park police won’t let you park in the road. Make sure to use mosquito repellent! And, watch out for the Massasauga rattlesnake, the only venomous snake in Muskoka, Ontario, as they come out at night.
Bob A — Google review
We really enjoyed our time here. There was an open flat area with lots of space to sit/lay down and look at the stars. The view was incredible, definitely worth the drive through the narrow windy road there.

Visited on October 25th. Follow the Google maps location and you will be right on spot. Parking is free and limited ( around 20 spots) , so come early to get a spot or park your car on the road side. We booked a star gazing event 'Home of stars' and the guide was awesome showing us the milky way and some of the constellations. Wonderful experience. Got really cold after some time. Portable washroom was available. No water on site. No shops near by so come prepared with all of your requirements.

Torrance Barrens Dark-Sky Preserve is absolutely breathtaking. The night sky here is unlike anything you can see near the city — crystal clear and filled with stars. We were lucky enough to see the Milky Way with the naked eye, which was an unforgettable experience. The preserve is quiet, peaceful, and the perfect spot for stargazing. If you want to connect with nature and witness the sky in its true beauty, this place is a must-visit.

A really sweet spot that I have hiked many times. The trails are well marked and the entire area holds special oaks, small lakes and wetlands. The small stream that runs through the trail is fun to jump over!

Park
Nestled near Torrance, Hardy Lake Provincial Park is a serene nature retreat with picturesque hiking trails offering stunning views of forests and lakes. It's an ideal spot for birdwatching and immersing in the tranquility of nature away from the crowds. The park boasts native plant species from the Atlantic coastal plain, adding to its natural charm. While some describe the trails as easy, others caution about rugged sections that can be slippery and challenging, especially during damp seasons.
I really love this hike! It was challenging enough to give me a workout, but it wasn't that difficult. Lots of great views, saw a lot of wildlife, And the water was clear enough to swim in. I think the only downside I can think of is some of the trails were not marked as clear as other hikes have been The trail does get muddy at times... But with most trails you're going to run into a mud. If you're ever out in the area definitely take a look at hiking here
Kevin S — Google review
It's a big park. The trails are easy, not much of slopes. Kids and pets friendly. Easily spend a few hours here. Our favorite part is the boardwalk to the mini island. Great picture!!
Joey L — Google review
Leisure Walk - Hardy Lake Provincial Park 2 hours drive from Toronto This is my first hike on such a raw trail. There are no made-man roads, so you cannot see an obvious road and have to find and follow the signs on trees alongside. The terrain is generally wet and muddy, and mosquitoes and bugs are your tour guides. It rained after we had walked one-third of the 9km, but it stopped when we returned to the endpoint. Other than that, it’s a quiet and peaceful place. The trees are gorgeous and tall enough to keep away raindrops. The trail is average in difficulty and recommended to all nature lovers.
Keeva N — Google review
Great 10km loop with excellent views of the lake most of the way. A bit muddy in some places and lots of mosquitos. There's a portable toilet at the trailhead, nothing else. Parking is small and fills up early, people had parked along the side of the road.
Sneha A — Google review
Absolutely amazing trail to take. Recommend hiking shoes, as you will have a makeshift-like bridge from sticks to walk over to continue walking otherwise it's amazing views of the lake. The bugs are quite bad no matter how much bug spray you wear. We ran into an older couple who got a netted hat from the dollar store and honestly it was genius and wish I had picked some up!!! Definitely wear appropriate clothing and shoes and hope for that nice breeze/wind as it helped keep them a bit at bay. When you get to the bridge to the little island the scenic view is amazing. There's a bench where you can sit and relax. The water was nice and refreshing (later as we were leaving people across the way did go swimming and jump off rocks and they were yelling it's so cold! Haha). This place now holds a special place as not only when we went we barely saw anyone on a hike, so it was the peak time to go and we had the whole place to ourselves. With that we got engaged and made for a very intimate special moment.
Sandy G — Google review
Great park with amazing trails! I've done the 8km loop around the lake both in winter and now just recently in summer. In winter best to bring cleats/ice grippers and in summer best to use some bug spray. Bugs were not bad, only started to notice a few towards the end of the trail when further away from the lake. Porta potty at trail entrance and small rock bench in parking lot. Would definitely recommend, lots of frogs and mushrooms to see in summer! Give yourself at least 2-3hrs to complete if you take stops for photos etc. Nice and cool to hike in summer with all the tree coverage, so definitely an option to do on a really hot day.
Alanna — Google review
Great place for active leisure! A lot of natural scenic spots for pictures. Choice of easy, medium and hard walking trails. We choose the hardest and in fact it wasn’t so complicated - just very long. The only thing is that you have to be ready to get surrounded by millions of mosquitoes 🦟 Make sure to bring a spray for protection 🙂
Stanislav V — Google review
Some trees have become bright orange but it’s not full peak yet it seems. Trails are marked properly but boardwalks are all on the longer 8km trail.

The restaurant has been recognized for its comforting selection of gourmet seafood, steak, and pasta from their charming lakeside deck.
on our way home from Huntsville. Stop by for dinner. The patio is nice on a sunny afternoon. Food was delicious. We had shrimp and scallops pasta , Gnudi and fish soup and lemon cheese cake. All are big portions and tasty. the view of the lake and service are superb. It is on a higher price but worthy

One of the nicest spots to eat in Gravenhurst. Patio is located right above the water, with the most stunning view you can imagine. We were delighted to be sited outside. Be ware, for dining over the weekend, especially on the patio, make sure to make a reservation ahead of the time. Place have some interesting items on the menu, which makes it to stand out of the comparable eateries in the region. We enjoyed the food, but the highlight of our visit was chef’s desserts! Highly recommending to try them, they are both aesthetically pleasing and tasty, which is rare combination nowadays.
Tatiana K — Google review
The atmosphere is great, I think most people would enjoy the patio but I’m more an inside person so we sat inside. We had the 8oz steak with garlic mashed potatoes and the shrimp and scallop pasta. The pasta has to be one of the better ones I’ve had in recent years in Canada. It’s so flavourful, and the scallops are pretty big. The steak was cooked to the temperature I preferred and the mashed potatoes were fluffy and creamy. For dessert we had the blueberry cherry cake, it’s the special cake for today, and it was so moist, the combo of blueberries and sour cherries worked so well. Can really tell it’s made from scratch and a lot of care. If I come back to the wharf I’d eat here again lunch and dinner.

You know, I really struggle with "high end" restaurants at times. When you read an elaborate description of a dish followed by steep pricing, you expect a certain base level of delivery. The two meals we ordered sounded delicious. Pork chop on the bone with rhubarb BBQ sauce, and shrimp and scallops pasta with goat cheese and rose sauce. What was delivered *looked* visually pleasing, but taste really fell flat. The baked potato- wildly undercooked. Side vegetables, seemingly steamed momentarily with the warm breath of the chef- completely lacking any butter or seasoning. The pasta, completely lacking any salt. It would have been nice if the shrimp and scallops had some sort of sear on them, but generally seemed flaccid and boiled within the sauce. With both meals within the $40 range, these basic oversights really seemed like they should be the lowest level of expectations. The view is incredible, patio is lovely, but the food left quite a lot to be desired. We went home and reheated Indian take out from a great spot in town called Essence of Spice.
Laura W — Google review
It’s in a prime location, right by Muskoka Lake, feels like a classic family-owned restaurant. The food was okay. The Caesar Salad with a Twist was great, the air-dried prosciutto was super thin and crispy, with cornbread croutons and fried capers, definitely a nice “twist.” The fish taco was good too. The Open Face Prime Rib was a bit disappointing. The beef was dry and had a strange smell. It’s not that the beef itself was bad, just that it didn’t seem to have been cleaned or prepared properly. Service was great. We had to change tables twice, and they were very accommodating. Food (quality, creativity, consistency) - 2.7/5 Drinks (quality, variety) - NA/5 Ambience (interior design, cleanliness) - 3.9/5 Service (courtesy, knowledge, timeliness) - 4/5 Value (quality vs. price) - 3/5 OVERALL - 3.4

The food is incredible, the service is outstanding, and the view of the lake is breathtaking. The owners, Kay and her husband, along with their entire family, are fantastic. They are incredibly friendly, warm, and welcoming—truly wonderful people. It feels like a second home to me. I’ve been coming here since 2012, and we absolutely love it. Thank you, Kay!

Located right beside the dock with stunning view of the bay, the restaurant can be busy during the weekend. We arrived at 5:30 on Sunday and got our names on the waitlist. Thankfully we didn’t have to wait for now to get seating out at the patio. Our server was Hailey. The service is top notch, she came to check on us multiple times to make sure all are to our likings. We ordered grilled octopus, which is so tender and fresh. The butter squash soup and bruschetta are tasty too. The shrimp and scallop pasta with rose tomato source was perfect. We love the deco and the soft music as well. We will definitely come back to try the other items on the menu if we visit here again in the near future.

Dock of the Bay — The pork belly bao with fries was tasty, and while the overly-breaded shrimp po’ boy and tomato soup were on the mild side, everything was fresh and nicely presented. The lakeside view really made the meal enjoyable!

Immerse yourself in the rich history of Gravenhurst's boat building and steamship industry at the Muskoka Discovery Centre. This local heritage museum features a replica steamship, vintage wooden boats, and interactive exhibits for kids. Explore three new exhibits highlighting Indigenous culture, Muskoka's history, and sustainability for the future. Step back in time as you discover North America's only in-water exhibit of working antique boats, capturing the glory of Muskoka's past with state-of-the-art displays.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Pretty sure my son thinks he owns the Muskoka Discovery Centre. It’s officially his second home — he marches in like the boss, greets the staff (in his own way and who are basically family at this point), and makes a beeline for “his room” — also known as the play centre. He’s obsessed with the boats, presses his little face against the glass to visit them in the boathouse, and could spend hours at the interactive screen touching the lake creatures. The staff are amazing, the space is spotless, and every visit feels like an adventure. Honestly, I’m just waiting for them to start charging him rent. 😂 It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve been, just walking in the building gives you a sense of calm and peace. Huge thanks to everyone there — you’ve created pure magic for kids (and exhausted but happy parents). 💙🌊🚤

Took my 6 year old for something to do on a cold day -the kids section is good and kept her busy ( and worth $10 ) but paying $25 plus tax for adult (total of $40) for adult admission if you are with your kids and not actually seeing the adult section is not worth it .

We went on a day trip to see falls colours and booked this pizza shop for dinner. We arrived around 7pm and the place was crowded. Of course, they had our reservation, staff were cordial and inviting. Place was decorated for the fall season/ Halloween. It took more than 30-40 minutes to get the order and to bring the drinks. Food was tasty. I will recommend if you have enough time and not in a hurry.

This Place has the best patio! .. and it has docks for boat parking. I can't believe we were able to pull up in our boat, have dinner on a patio with a great view and head back to the cottage in the boat. Food was good, service was good.. but 5 stars for the patio and boat "parking'.

We’ve been to this Boston Pizza many times over the years as cottagers who like to support local businesses, but unfortunately this experience was extremely disappointing and has made us reconsider returning. When we arrived, we were told we’d have to wait in line for the patio, but there was no waitlist available. Strangely, the people behind us were able to put their name down on a list, which was frustrating and unfair. It then took over ten minutes before anyone came to our table. When we finally ordered drinks, the fishbowl Bellinis had no alcohol in them at all. We had to ask about our food because it was taking so long, and when it finally came, everything arrived at once — apps with mains — and it was all cold. We specifically ordered extra crispy, extra well-done chicken tenders, but what we got looked like something from a convenience store. The Parmesan fries were bland and cold, and the quesadillas were tiny and underwhelming. To make things worse, no one checked in on our table during the meal, while we watched servers tending to other tables around us. When we did tell our server about the poor experience, nothing was done to make it right. We were told it was busy, but half the restaurant was empty. Then, when we asked for the bill, our server went off to tend to other customers and take their orders instead of bringing it to us. After waiting about 20 minutes, we eventually had to go inside to pay ourselves. We’ve always made a point of coming here, but after this visit, it doesn’t seem like we’ll be returning.

I had an amazing experience at Boston Pizza! The pizza was fresh, cheesy, and loaded with toppings — I ordered indian style pizza totally hit the spot. **If I could give this place zero stars, I would.** Sushi by the Water was a complete disappointment. The employees were rude from the moment I walked in, and they even charged me for bottled water without mentioning it upfront. The sushi was old, tasted disgusting, and felt like it had been sitting out for hours. To make things worse, my stomach hurt so bad after, and I ended up getting sick. This place is definitely not authentic, despite what they might want you to believe. Don’t come here unless you want to risk getting sick—there are way better sushi spots out there. The best thing I had here was the coke.

For day 3, we recommend exploring the east side side of town. Start the day off with Muskoka Steamships, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to The Bakery. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Had the best day on the Wenonah II today! Seven years in a row! 🛳️ Drinks and food available, the narrator on the ship, Richard was so informative and funny! The boat is clean and beautiful, great for photo opportunities. The bartender Karly was absolutely sweet and pleasant and made the trip the best! Our favourite trip to take in the summer in Muskoka. A must see!!

We had such an amazing time on the Muskoka Steamship "Pirate" Boat Trip! I went with my 6-year-old daughter and her grandparents, and it was the perfect family outing. The experience was so fun and interactive, the crew did a fantastic job keeping the kids entertained the whole time. It was also budget-friendly, with affordable drink options on board. I loved that there were lots of seating choices both inside and outside, so you could enjoy the beautiful views no matter the weather. The boat was also accessible, with washrooms and even an elevator on board, which was great. This is such a fantastic family vacation idea, and there’s lots to see and do in the area before or after your cruise. We would definitely go back ... highly recommend for anyone looking for a fun, affordable, and memorable day with the family!

Today, we had the pleasure of taking a delightful 2.5-hour cruise on the beautiful Lake Muskoka. The weather couldn’t have been better—warm sunshine, calm waters, and fresh air all around. The entire journey was accompanied by captivating stories told by our knowledgeable guide. Lake Muskoka is truly vast, stretching roughly 30 kilometers long and 10 kilometers wide, with depths reaching up to 70 meters in many places. The cruise departed from Gravenhurst, just about 150 kilometers north of Toronto—a perfect distance for a day trip. What makes this lake so unique is not just its size, but the sheer number of islands scattered across its waters—each with its own charm and story. At one point during the cruise, we sailed through a narrow channel between two islands, only 9 meters wide. The ship passed so close to the shores that it felt like you could reach out and touch the trees. It was magical. This incredible experience was made possible by Muskoka Steamships, a company that operates two historic vessels on the lake. One of the ships is an astonishing 125 years old and still proudly cruising. Both offer a variety of tours—with or without meals on board—and provide an unforgettable way to explore this iconic Canadian destination. We loved every minute of it. The cruise, the scenery, the stories—it was all absolutely worth it.

A great way to see the Autumn colors around Muskoka Lake. The trip takes about 2.5 hours. The wharf and the boat are clean and well maintained. The staff are nice and the guide is very knowledgeable about the history of the lake and surrounding lake.

British restaurant
Blue Willow Tea Shop is a charming and quaint spot located in Gravenhurst, Ontario, offering an authentic British experience. The shop provides traditional high tea, English-inspired lunch options, and a selection of British-imported goodies. Visitors can enjoy a delightful assortment of tea sandwiches, savories, mini scones with butter and jam, and various sweets while overlooking the picturesque Muskoka Wharf. The boutique also offers antique and vintage teaware for purchase.
The Blue Willow Tea shop truly blew my Mom & I away. She has a gluten intolerance & their team still offered her such a great variety. Our server Caroline was lovely, made great suggestions, and really went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Lovely ambiance, well curated gifts & tea’s. Definitely worth the drive! Our new high tea spot for years to come!
Tire 8 — Google review
We came here for high tea while visiting the area, based on the many positive reviews — unfortunately, we were very disappointed. There were six of us, and the bill came to over $300. The restaurant charges per person, even for an 8-year-old child who didn’t eat any sweets. While that policy is understandable (though a bit unreasonable), what really let us down was the food quality. The savory options were very limited — the only meat was a tiny piece of bacon inside a mini burger. The desserts tasted like they came from a supermarket in bulk, not freshly made at all. But the most unacceptable part was the fruit. It was clearly not fresh — visibly dull, with browning edges. When we asked about it, the server insisted that it was “very fresh,” “just bought,” and “just cut,” and even told us that all the other guests were enjoying the food and only we had complaints. Please see the photos — I’ve never seen such “fresh” fruit before. Taste can be subjective, and we don’t usually comment on service. But food quality — especially freshness — is non-negotiable. Unfortunately, this experience was not worth the price, and we would not return. Latest review: I do not accept the explanation about the watermelon not being fresh, because it was very clear that the fruit was not fresh. The pineapple and melon skins were already turning dark, and the strawberries were dry and discolored. These fruits had not even come into contact with any cream, and the photos clearly show their condition. I didn’t feel any sincerity from the owner in addressing our concerns. I was told that there were 80 guests that day and we were the only ones who complained. However, during the meal, I overheard guests at the next table quietly expressing similar dissatisfaction about the food — they just didn’t bring it up to the staff, perhaps because they were more polite. Maybe I’m a more particular or even “mean” guest, but after paying this price, I simply cannot accept being served food that is so clearly not fresh. While I understand that businesses want to defend their reputation, dismissing customer feedback instead of taking it constructively is not the best look. I sincerely hope you take this as a chance to improve, not deflect.

We were hoping for a quick snack ahead of our cruise, not appreciating the sitting times for high tea. The owner was lovely and so accommodating setting us up with a wee tea between sittings. The drinks were refreshing, and the variety, taste, and freshness of the food was top tier. We loved the decor and lots of options for takeaway and British products.

$100 for 2 people for a 3-level set. Quite enjoyable but too much to finish and therefore too expensive. I would come back for the nice ambiance and view but only have the 2-level set. I'd also request to change a few items. The brie tasted of nothing and the cranberry spread was way too sweet. The egg tarts didn't taste of much either. The scones were good but deserve much more clotted cream. The teas all were very good.

We were at the docks in Gravenhurst looking at the steamship's and we came across this cute little tea shop..We went in and were blown away by how cute this tea shop is. There were so many different tea cups and tea pots on shelves for. There were table and chairs set up with teacups and saucers on the table. Everything is in a baby blue colour theme. At the back is teas, jams and other stuff for sale.We bought 2 scones $7 and they were delicious. And a jar of ginger jam $10.50. The lady working there was very friendly. Along the hallway is more cups and saucers on shelves for sale and the hallway is has lighting along the top of the ceiling. This place has high tea which I would love to try one day.

Gravenhurst is a truly lovely community and stop if you are travelling to or from the Cottage Country. (between Sudbury & Toronto). The Blue Willow Tea Shop is located in the impressive Cockburn Square, where you are sure to find something of interest on this picturesque waterfront and creatively designed park area complete with gazebos, picnic areas, unique stores, washroom facilities, ample parking and amazing views. The Blue Willow Tea Shop is a diamond amongst the many gems to choose from. It is a wonderful treat amongst beautiful surroundings. Whether you are looking for a traditional English ‘cuppa’ & wonderful treats on a 3-tiered cake stand or just wanted to shop for a TRULY WIDE & WONDERFUL assortment of AMAZING jams, jellies and unique gifts etc direct from England, this is the place to take your favourite Aunt, Grandma, visitor or loved one. They will love you for it and remember it forever. I had my relatives over from Wales and the UK and they adored it. Unfortunately, I also had my ‘man’s best friend’ with us so were unable to indulge in all there was to offer but I did pick up a Mrs Darlington Blackberry & Apple Jam & a Wilkin & Sons Damson Conserve for delicious treats on our cross country road trip.

The Shipyards in Muskoka is a vibrant marketplace with a rich history dating back to the 1875 railroad connections. It serves as an eclectic artisan marketplace featuring locally made home decor, textiles, jewelry, and food. The market offers a variety of goods from different vendors including clothing, artwork, and packaged/frozen meals from Well Fed Resto. Visitors can enjoy shopping for locally crafted items such as candles, crafts, food products, and unique gift items.
It's one of my favorite shops in Gravenhurst. There are a ton of vendors you can choose from. Lots of options for home decor or gifts - don't forget to go up to the second floor. Highly recommend you check this shop!

Bethune Memorial House National Historic Site is a museum located in the Victorian home where renowned medical pioneer Dr. Norman Bethune was born. Situated in Gravenhurst, it's easily accessible via Highway 400 and Highway 11, with well-maintained roads making travel convenient. The site has been recently upgraded and offers displays on Bethune's significant accomplishments, including his introduction of Western medicine to China and invention of mobile blood-transfusion units.
A must visit and scared place for a true Chinese hero. Loads of artifacts depicts the true life of this medical pioneer in WWII.

We had a wonderful family visit to the Bethune Memorial House! As soon as we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by a friendly lady with short hair, who kindly explained the visit route to us and gave the children their own little maps. The kids were thrilled to follow the map and find the marked locations and items throughout the museum. Once they completed the journey, they went back for a special stamp—and even received a meaningful souvenir! It was a short trip, but a deeply memorable one. The museum gives a touching look into the life of a truly noble man and the harsh realities of war. The beautiful little town itself is also worth exploring. Highly recommended for families and anyone interested in history and human spirit.

As National Historic sites go this is a small site but the story and history of Dr Bethune makes it worth the visit. There is a small visitor centre which covers the life of Dr Bethune, his accomplishments and his deep connection with China. There also displays of gifts to the museum from visiting delegations from China and Spain. Outside are a number of displays and then you can tour the house that he was born in. As a Victorian house it is interesting in its own right. There is 10 minute film about his life which is narrated in English, French and Chinese. Lots of dress up and kid friendly activities as well. The staff are super helpful and knowledgeable. I did not appreciate the full story and impact this man had to medicine and the world. Well worth the visit if you are in the Muskoka area.

Never knew about the great contributions of Bethune. Worth the visit if you are in the area.

Definitely a must-visit! Dive into the untold narrative of Dr. Bethune, from his upbringing to the beliefs that drove him. The calligraphy art that outlines his journey is a standout—especially cool if you've studied it in Chinese classes. Although most visitors are Chinese (no surprise given his status as an international hero who sacrificed his life to save people in China), it's a captivating experience for anyone interested in humanitarianism.

For me, It’s meaningful to visiting his hometown as I learn him from textbook when I was around 10yrs old. It’s not only about learning his spirits, but also connects myself to my childhood. Nice to visit. Free entry during summer btw.
Hunter T — Google review
This museum dedicated to Norman Bethune is quite good. It features exhibits in English, French, and Chinese, and the guides are also Chinese, so there are absolutely no language barriers if you're a Chinese speaker. You can easily get explanations and information in Mandarin. The museum does a great job of showing what the area looked like when Bethune was born, and the building itself is a nice example of Victorian-era architecture. What stands out is how accessible it is for Chinese visitors—almost all the display boards, item descriptions, and even the guides are in Chinese. It’s no surprise that about 90% of the visitors here are Chinese.

Restaurant
The Oar Restaurant in Gravenhurst is a relaxed gastropub that offers refined tavern fare. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a cottage, with plank floors and oar decor. They have a spacious dog-friendly patio that feels like an extension of the restaurant. Chef Brett Martin works closely with local suppliers to create crowd-pleasing dishes such as beer-battered fish and chips or mac-and-cheese with plump shrimp.
It was our first time dining at this restaurant, and we were truly impressed! The chef’s cooking was outstanding—every dish was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. The dining environment was elegant, with artworks by local artists hanging on the walls. The dining hall and patio are decorated with paddles, adding a unique touch. We were very satisfied with the experience and would love to come back to try more dishes.

Lots of potential here but some of the decisions regarding the menu make it hard to recommend. They make it very clear that no substitutions are possible, which is fine in general, but makes things challenging when considering the eclectic menu on offer. For us it was quite limited and many of our group had a hard time finding something that worked. I had the burger, which was great, but anyone viewing their old menus online will be surprised that reliable options are now gone (e.g. meatballs and spaghetti). The quality was generally very good, but providing a few more options would have made the whole experience for our group much more enjoyable.

This place is pretty good. Be aware, it's incredibly expensive you don't get a lot . I had the Oar burger. It was tasty. Cooked very well. But it was $19 for the burger alone and there was no fries or anything with it. The restaurant is nice inside and our server was good. But like I said, OOF , so expensive for not much food.

What a lovely petit restaurant, just 8 min away from the Gull lake rotary park! Though it felt like over 30 degrees, we chose to dine in the beautiful patio. The Bakery in Gravenhurst is a must-visit for anyone craving fresh and delicious baked goods. From apple fritters to sausage rolls, this local bakery offers a mouthwatering variety of sweet and savory treats that keep people coming back from far and wide. The Rebelein family has owned the bakery since 1959, turning it into a popular destination known for its freshly made doughnuts and apple fritters.
It is worth the 600 km drive round trip to Gravenhurst just to stop at this bakery. If I lived in the area I’d be here daily. The moment I walked in the smell was heavenly. The apple fritter is perfect. This is what a fritter is supposed to be. There’s crunchy bits and the inside is fluffy fresh goodness. Can’t wait to come back

Food is good and fresh was recommended by a local friend. It was my son’s birthday so we decided to stop for some pastries on the way back. Lady was not friendly or helpful at all. If you have this many pastries i suggest you label them so clients can name their order. I ordered the cinnamon twist she corrected me this is not a twist its a stick. I wouldn’t visit again. You want more tourist or people drive by visit your bakery it needs to be a bit more welcoming.

Great bakery with multiple variations of a cinnamon bun: loafs, rounds, minis, sticks, twists, with and without nuts, frosting. The cinnamon sugar donut twist was my favourite. Interesting donut flavours that other family members loved but I’m all about cinnamon!!!!
Liz C — Google review
A line out the door an hour after opening is usually an indication that any establishment has a dedicated clientele, and The Bakery is no different. While service is a bit on the slower side with the staff often climbing over one another trying to serve customers and restock the display cases at the same time in very cramped store, the donuts and pastries are absolutely delicious. Unlike some other stores that sell freshly baked goods, they also don't upcharge or have a 'tourist tax', which is very appreciated. I'd definitely recommend visiting this bakery if you've got a sweet tooth, and maybe call to order ahead if you'll have a large order.

My wife and I came in here on a whim to find some butter tarts which were very good but it was their Lemon Meringue Pie that stole the show. Just $15.50. Amazing value. Great flavour. From scratch. Very tart. Nice Cloud on top. Flaky Crust. 10/10. My wife is dairy free and she had a date square that she really enjoyed too!

Stopped in for some donuts and they were amazing tasting!! However, the service was less than one star. The lady in there was very rude and not helpful at all. Was annoyed I had to do more than one order. If you’re going to have a business, I think a key part to that is being friendly with customers. The food was great but the customer service and rude attitude made me not want to support this business again.

Food was good, as was the time it took for it to arrive. Atmosphere was laid back but potentially due to the inclement weather during our visit there was only one other group dining this evening. I ordered a burger and I quite enjoyed it, though I would order without the onions in the future as they had a bit more bite than I was expecting. A minor nitpick, but the menus we were given seemed to be rather heavily water soaked, and while they were still legible, it took away some from the presentation of the establishment.
Justin W — Google review
There was a pretty big party which I was a part of, and unfortunately they couldn’t seem to get anything right. From the moment we were there, it took over an hour to get the food, which were breakfast menu items - should definitely not have taken so long. What was concerning is that smaller parties came after us and were served before us. We had 8 total breakfast items and there were multiple issues with our orders: steak wasn’t cooked to medium rare, eggs bendedict yolk was not runny as asked, the wrap was not enjoyable, sausage wasn’t cooked, eggs were brought sunny side when asked for scrambled and the worst is that the yogurt came out warm. Two of the meals were barely touched and we had to pay for them even though they were inedible. It took almost 20 minutes from the first time we requested the bill to finally get them. And the other waitress helping out seemed very short tempered and rude. It was our waitress’ first day, so I don’t want to fault her on any of the terrible service. I blame their management for lack of support and training, as well as their cook staff for taking so long and still getting almost every meal wrong. The entire experience from the minute we walked in until we left took two hours.
Jennifer Y — Google review
We had a horrific evening at this place. The one older waiter was extremely rude and so was the owner. The waitress was new and did not ask us if there was a problem with the meal, even though there was a lot of food left on our plates. The liver was overdone and the mashed potatoes were hard and dry. The salmon was good except for the skin. The basmati rice was good. The veggies were undercooked. Will never go back again. We will tell all our friends at our large trailer park.

Service started out okay. I was offered a bowl of water for my dog. My boyfriend ordered a burger and fries (good fries! poor burger, kind of dry). I ordered the “trio” special ; half salad, half sandwich, half soup. Mushroom soup was okay, seafood sandwich was okay, salad was okay. I ended up eating half the salad and once I got down so far the salad was so overly saturated with dressing I couldn’t eat it. Because it is such a small salad there was very few toppings (which is fine for the size salad), I had eaten everything on top and then told my server my salad was too wet to eat. I asked if I could get another one, I was going to suggest just giving me a smaller portion cause I had eat everything on the top. But before I could even suggest that, the server told me she couldn’t do that but give me more spinach because I had eaten all the toppings ... the total toppings on this salad ... 1 strawberry sliced, 4 blackberries, a few slivers of almond and a teaspoon of crumbled cheese. It’s a bit over dramatic to not just make a new salad ? Like I’m here trying to rip of this restaurant a few berries and a little bit of toppings ? She made a really big deal about it I said no to the offer of “just spinach”. When she took my plate and walked away she made a comment walking away “woooow”. This woman was just not about customer service. I wouldn’t go there again, That’s just poor customer service and it makes me sad.

Great location, and that’s about it. Food is terrible and takes way too long. The waitress was nice but stumbled around like she was hungover or something. My buffalo chicken wrap was tasteless and had the same frozen fried chicken tenders in it that my son got in his kids meal. Don’t waste your money on food, just go there for a drink on the patio and that’s it. I won’t be coming back.

I love this pizza pizza branch! If you guys are in town, you should definitely try it. They have a lot of options for everything and they don’t sell just pizzas. The staff is very friendly as well and they have a nice atmosphere in the resturant. Very affordable lots of great deals

Update: they are losing a couple more stars. Friendly store manager, I thought... At the till he asked me how my family was... except he wasn't talking to me. He was talking on his cell phone while taking my payment. And kept talking. I felt like i was an intrusion to interrupt him asking for a different pop. So I've given this a few days to settle down as this is my pet peeve usually it's a taxi or uber. But this was rude. Anyway thr pizza tasted fine and was Hot or they would only get 1 star. Old review:Well. I arrived to an empty store and it was full of smoke. Someone finally came back in. The pizza is great and the person friendly. But they should keep an eye on the front door...see video.

Restaurant
Amazing Experience at Chuck’s Restaurant! I recently dined at Chuck’s Restaurant, and I can confidently say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the warm and welcoming atmosphere to the outstanding service, everything exceeded my expectations. The food was incredible! I ordered BRUSCHETTA,PAN GARLIC,LOADED CHEESE FRIES, AND DRINK and it was cooked to perfection—flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. The portion sizes were generous, and the ingredients tasted high-quality. The menu had a great variety, catering to all tastes. The staff was friendly, attentive, and professional. They made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed without being intrusive. It’s clear they take pride in providing top-notch service. The ambiance was also perfect—whether you’re looking for a casual meal or a special night out, Chuck’s Restaurant delivers. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back!

Stopped by for a quick bite after 9 PM when starters are half price, and it was a great choice! We tried the quesadilla, BBQ and honey garlic wings, and mozzarella sticks — all were delicious. The service was friendly and efficient, and we were seated right away with no wait. The only downside was that the food took about 30 minutes to arrive. Overall, a good experience and a nice spot to enjoy dinner with friends if you're in Gravenhurst.
Neby V — Google review
Extremely Disappointing Experience I had a terrible experience at Chuck’s Roadhouse in Gravenhurst. We waited nearly an hour to be served, and when someone finally came, the service was rude and unprofessional. We only received part of our order with no cutlery and napkins. About 15 minutes later, after unsuccessfully trying to get a server’s attention, I had to leave my seat just to get someone attention. I requested the bill, and only after paying we were given two forks—still no napkins. When I asked to speak with a manager or supervisor, the server walked away without saying a word. This level of service is completely unacceptable. I will not be returning, and I don’t recommend this location to anyone expecting basic customer service.
Naiome K — Google review
First time at a Chucks and it was pretty good. Had the steak and lobster special. Great deal for $25. Ordered steak medium rare and that’s what I got. Not always the case in some places. Food tasted great and was out in good time. Place is ok. Tables are well spaced and atmosphere is basic sports bar. Will got back to try some of the wings combos.
Richard W — Google review
We had the chance to visit Chuck’s Roadhouse twice over a weekend—once for a laid-back lunch, and again the next evening to catch the hockey game. I'm glad we did lunch first, because if the game night had been our first impression, I’m not sure we would’ve returned. Lunch Visit: Lunch was relaxed and enjoyable. The staff were pleasant and attentive, and there was no issue finding a seat. The food came out hot and fresh—just the way you hope it will. We ordered the Chuck’s burgers, which are honestly a great deal at just \$9 including fries. I did pay the extra for onion rings and they were worth every penny. The burgers were cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and hit the spot. Hockey Night Visit: Now, the evening we came back for the hockey game was a different experience. We got there at 6:25 p.m. and the place was packed. It's a smaller location compared to the Chuck’s in Wasaga Beach, so seating was limited. We noticed a large table taken up by just two people, which made things tricky for others waiting. It seems like a bit more structure around seating during busy nights would go a long way. Eventually, we found seats at the bar. The atmosphere was energetic—great company, and lots of TVs for watching the game. Service was decent considering how slammed they were, but it was clear the place was understaffed that night. Drinks and food took quite a while to arrive. Sadly, the nachos missed the mark. Very little in the way of toppings, and they were so dry we didn’t even finish them. I’d skip those next time. If you're planning to go for a big game night, I’d suggest arriving at least 30 minutes before puck drop. And just a heads up—you can’t make reservations on game nights. Other Notes: They do have great drink specials and the food prices are very reasonable. After 9:00 p.m., they offer half-price appetizers, which is a nice bonus. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible and family-friendly, and there's street parking available nearby. One thing that took away from the experience was the smell of smoke right outside the entrance—both cigarettes and marijuana. Each time the door opened, it wafted into the restaurant, and it really did take away from the dining atmosphere. It might be worth implementing a rule about not smoking near the door. Final Thoughts: All in all, I’m giving Chuck’s Roadhouse in Gravenhurst a solid four stars. When it’s not jam-packed, the food and service really do shine. Just pick your timing wisely.
Courtney J — Google review
The food was cooked perfectly and fast and the service was amazing. Thank you Neerja for being so kind, being on timing for everything and caring about your customers as welll. Best server we’ve encountered. Please give her the recognition she needs.

Was not even seated. Watched 3 staff(kitchen included) at front of establishment mingle while a hardworking blonde bartender worked bar side and we waited for a table or even acknowledgement. After seeing 12 empty tables walking by we assumed it would be a great place for a medium party to meet up after attending a local business owner’s celebration of life for a local dinner. Staff continued to mingle and upon final eye contact, went to kitchen and even stared from that point. Again- bartender remained legitimately busy entire time. We proceeded to leave the establishment and called others to not attend. A shame for the hard working staff and those that hope to attend in all seasons if this is treatment on a weekend in summer at 4:30pm.
Samwitch — Google review
The wings and rib dinner was half the size of what order is at the Bracebridge Chucks. The Steak bites were cold, had to send them back, they nuked them to make them warmer. Also had to send back the limpy fries, and the replacement fries, they also were cold. How can you… Screw up on fries ... There's skimping on the amount of food served ! The service was wonderful. I felt so sorry for her that she had to keep going back. And it was my birthday! We used to really love going there and with this new management they're running it into the ground.

Public beach
Gull Lake Rotary Park in Gravenhurst is a charming spot that offers a range of activities and events. The park features a beautiful beachfront, ample picnic tables for family gatherings, and various summer events such as movie nights and live music performances. It's also known for hosting popular annual events like the Tall Pines Music & Art Festival and the Gravenhurst Car Show. Visitors can enjoy swimming, fishing from docks, and even take swim lessons at the designated area.
Beautiful surroundings, friendly people, great for picnics, has tennis court close by and play area, amazing for fishing and even to look at the turtles swim. Its nature at its best. Listening to the birds sing is heaven. Its a breath of fresh air. Tranquil

Great little park, there are a couple of chip trucks at the main entrance. A small beach and lovely views. The stone amphitheatre was surprisingly comfortable. There is a medium kids playground, and the only negative is there was goose crap everywhere. Don't bring a wagon, it's a slope down to the lake.
Sunny D — Google review
A lovely green park, it is not huge, but it is a favourite with locals. Summer events include movie and "music on the barge" nights. The beach has docks for fishing, an area for swimmers and swim lessons, and one spot for disabled parking. Unfortunately, at the moment (spring 2024), the main parking lot is under construction.

Lovely park near Gravenhurst. We by chance found this place when we were looking for a place to have our packed lunch while on the way to Algonquin. A quick search gave a lot of options but this place had good reviews and was also near the highway. A quick detour and we reached the park easily. Just as we parked, the park view gave us a good feeling about the place. It was clean, well maintained and right at the lake. Ample picnic tables scattered around the park which can be used for family picnics. There were few families who were enjoying the park already. A very small beach is also there in case you want to enjoy the waters. There are lots of trees and you get a good feeling. Lots of benches overlooking the lake to enjoy the view. There is also a performance area on the lake and I think the benches are specifically meant for that. Probably some seasonal performances happen here. Lastly the washrooms were clean. Overall a lovely park for a family get-together or lunch.
Satyam R — Google review
We drop by on a weekday. It's not big, but it has everything such as playground, picnic pavilion, beach, floating stage, trails, sport area. It's quiet and clean. There are many mature trees in nice setting. There are not so many people in the park.

We stumble upon this park on our way to Huntsville and we end up spending 2 hours. Such a beautiful view of lake and there was also a trail along the lake. There were washrooms and lot of picnic benches. There was a mini beach area and a park with slides & swings for kids.
Priyanka T — Google review
Small little park with a tiny beach, volleyball pit, and floating stage. I went on a rainy morning, so wasn't able to enjoy the park to the fullest. If the weather was co-operative, I'm sure it would have been more enjoyable. Regardless, it's an easily accessible park close to the city that can be enjoyed wherever.

Had an excellent time at the Gravenhurst Car Show at Gull Lake Rotary Park June 17, 2023. Hundreds of cars. Owners have great stories. I loved the Shelby car and how he found the hood and fender in a box that had been sitting around for 50 years. Sweet, right! Excellent annual event for the whole family. Super beach.

Established in 1992, this seasonal market features over 70 vendors offering a wide range of products including fruits, vegetables, organic produce, homemade goods, honey, maple syrup, preserves, meat, fish and cheese. Has been a favourite stop for years. Hadn't been since it moved to Rotary Park. Well set up and variety of vendors. Vendors very friendly and many take debit or credit but cash is still king. Good prices for grat quality produce.

I visited the Gravenhurst Farmers' Market was on a Wednesday. lots of vendors . It's one of the best Farmers' Markets that I have visited in Ontario. Over looking the Gull Lake, the Rotary Park has lots of big trees , you will not feel hot while you are walking around.

Nice assortment of vendors. Although did notice that the odd vendor had actually increased their prices from seeing them at a previous market in a different town. However, nice walking area, shade available and real bathrooms!!!

Fantastic items, and good products. I managed to find 10 year old cheddar cheese. The taste is so smooth and delicious. We bought all our produce that was Canadian grown. Excellent friendly people.

If you're in search of a tranquil spot with stunning views, Lookout Park in Gravenhurst is the place to be. Just a short distance from downtown, this small green space offers a peaceful escape and easy access to beautiful sights. While the view may be partially obstructed by trees, it still provides a lovely vantage point overlooking the water and boats. Accessible by car, it features a short trail and staircase leading to the lookout.
Gorgeous views! Awesome place overlooking the water and boats !

Nothing here! This oversees the wharf but not a good view. There used to be steps down to the shore, but it’s closed as of now.
Abhilash S — Google review
The view could be better if The trees in front of the lookout doesn’t block the view. There is a trail down to the lake but not much to see. The parking is limited at peak time.
Peng L — Google review
Decent location. Mini hike. Good views but I wouldn’t come here for fall colours. The park for kids nearby is awesome though. Please see some of the pictures below to get an idea.
Akash C — Google review
Not much to see there. There is a few parkings spots, but the people bringing the kids to the play park took 7 spots with 4 cars. The trail down the stairs ends up quickly and there is a big sign with Private Property stopping you from seeing more. 3/10

Muskoka Beach Park

Park
Muskoka Beach Park is located along Muskoka Beach Road, a picturesque route connecting Gravenhurst to Bracebridge. The park boasts one of the best sandy beaches in the area, extending far into Lake Muskoka. Visitors can enjoy attractions and cultural venues in nearby Gravenhurst, such as the Bethune House and Muskoka Boat and Heritage Museum. The beach offers a stunning view of Lake Muskoka, especially at sunset, with gradual shallow waters ideal for swimming.
A favorite public beach on Lake Muskoka. Spectacular view of lake towards the north west. Awesome sunsets. Washrooms with minimal space to change into swimsuits open during summer. Swimming is incredible, featuring a gradual shallow walkout for hundreds of meters into sandy bay. Clams on bottom may be a bare foot hazard... for some. Small sandy beach good for children. Most/all of the 8 or 9 public beaches on Lake Muskoka have 'only' 200 to 300 feet or 70-100 meters of water frontage. None have concessions or rentals... All are free. A photo shows a ratty looking park April 28th 2019 at height of spring flooding... during second "One Hundred Year Flood" on Lake Muskoka in sixty... no -SIX- years!...
Jeffrey N — Google review
Beautiful private like beach. Best for family with toddlers as water is knee deep with sand surface till very far in. Best place for witnessing stunning sunset.
Smit A — Google review
Small park with lovely views over Lake Muskoka, just north of Gravenhurst. Limited parking but definitely worth a stop, especially if you're driving along the very scenic Highway 117.
Innes F — Google review
Very nice place to have picnics and stuff but the beach was quite small and there were many people around as well (quite congested perhaps), still a great experience overall.
Usman N — Google review
Small park with picnic tables. Good sandy area and designated swimming areas. Washroom nearby and additional parking across the road. Gull lake park is much bigger and more things to do, but this park is small but not as busy.
Aezhine A — Google review
Tiny public beach front park at Muskoka Lake, with stairs going down to the water and a washroom facility. There are a couple or so picnic tables, but most people bring their own beach chairs. The water is clear and shallow, would be nice for families with young children. There are no lifeguards on duty. Google Map directed us about 500m north to a private beach, this one is just right next to the river road with a few parking spots.
Jing L — Google review
Pretty little place and a perfect stop to breathe in fall colours. We were driving down Muskoka beach road to see the spectacular fall views and loved every bit of it. The beach part of the park was closed (perhaps due to covid measures) and so were the washrooms. There are 2-3 picnic tables and benches though, and parking space for 7-8 cars.

Overall had a great experience, trails are extremely well maintained and thought out, it has a great variety of differing trails for beginners, intermediate, and seasoned riders. The owner is a super nice guy too. Definitely worth the $12 entry price, one of my new favorite places to ride.

Rode there for the first time this past weekend and it's great. Well laid out with marked trails and immaculately maintained! Had a great chat with Mike the owner who is super nice and helpful. There's definitely something for everyone. Lots of rock features which I don't get much of riding Simcoe mainly.
Jeremy B — Google review
So good. Just started riding this year because my 5 year old got into it. Great selection of beginner and more challenging trails. Employees and patrons are all extremely friendly and helpful.
Brendan C — Google review
Whenever I am in the area, I try to get out for a few riding sessions. This is by far my favourite place to go to as a beginner/intermediate rider. There is a great variety of trails that can be ridden with the family, as well as some really tough and steep ascents/descents for those more daring. Buckwallow offers a nice mix of terrain with rocks, roots, flat trail, and some interesting use of natural features. For the two days we came here we were pleasantly surprised to see the owner working on parts of the trail. The people who run this are dedicated to keeping the area well-maintained and rideable. Hats off to them for creating such a wonderful set of trails. I'll always be back for more!

Rombos Family Restaurant is a long-standing establishment that has been serving the community for over 30 years. This family-operated restaurant offers homemade Italian, Greek, and Canadian cuisine. Known for its delicious pizza, Rombos is a local favorite and stands out as a non-franchise option in the area. In addition to their pizza, they also serve tasty homemade burgers with excellent service.
Love the homemade meal, freshly baked bread, pizza was full of cheese how I like it, the potatoes fries are also freshly fried. These guys are in this business more than 45 years. Ordered piece of fish & chips, Greek pizza and beers. Must visit this place, worth the money, very reasonable.

Don’t get confused with the website pictures and the real place. Located in a weird area, the restaurant is not very welcoming. The food is bland and tasteless. Overpriced for the food quality. chicken souvlaki was more potato souvlaki. And the calamari had no seasoning. All bland. Not recommended.

Amazing night out. Lucked in to one of the last open tables for supper (Definitely suggest reserving prior). The Greek salad was perfect and the Greek Pizza was so flavorful I can't even explain. Will without a doubt come again and soon

The very definition of a 'Family Restaurant'. Friendly staff, and a very personal and comfortable eating environment. I ordered a good old fashioned burger and fries. I'd be hard pressed to believe the burger wasn't homemade, moist, and done perfectly on the grill. The fries are more likely from a supplier, but were great! Friendly service, and a very short wait. In short, if you want a great meal with a comfy environment. Come to Rombos!

Poutine was mid. Good amount of food for the price, but the quality wasn’t there. Grabbed a quick lunch and everything was super tasty! Loved the grilled cheese sandwich and the hotdogs. The poutine was great quality and the large was a good portion. This place also has all the Kawarthas ice cream flavors which are a must try as well!
Larissa S — Google review
Interesting place to come across. This was a popular and good spot for kawartha ice cream and the prices were decent. The food wasn't spectacular, although our family sized pulled pork poutine was pretty awesome. The chicken parm was alright, close to being on the drier side. Food wise it was alright for a snack-pit stop if you like simple fast Food, but I may prefer the fast food chains if I wanted a nice meal. They don't have all the ice cream flavours, but quite an extensive list still. I'd stop again for the ice cream, possibly the poutine, but I'd probably pass on anything else. One co-ed washroom that is to be locked when in use wasn't ideal either.

Awsome place the ice cream tastes great. Amazing customer service and crazy big portions. Definitely recommend 👌

Stopped here for a break out riding with our girls! Social distancing and protocols are fantastic here! Staff is friendly and the ice cream is plentiful!! They even let you choose two flavors for a "single" (which is GIGANTIC!!) Great prices, fresh cones and the poutine is amazing as well! A must stop! We'll be back!

If you're wandering through Gravenhurst and have a craving for delicious comfort food, look no further than Shelby's Chipwagon. Owned by Sherry Martin for over 21 years, this vibrant pink food truck has become a staple in the Muskoka area. Since its inception in 1998, it has delighted both locals and visitors with its mouthwatering offerings at affordable prices.
Totally worth the stop!! The staff is so friendly and sweet! Now- let's talk about the food. We ordered a small loaded poutine. The freshest fries topped with cheese curds, gravy, bacon, jalapeños and green onions with sour cream on the side. This was large enough for 2!

Amazing homemade burgers and fresh cut fries! Made the right way! If you know, you know! 420 burger is a MUST try! I couldn’t get my mouth around it! Bring your appetite, you’ll need it!! Portions are huge!

Great fries. The small size feeds two adults. Super friendly owners. Excellent burgers. Reasonable prices. They've been around nearly a quarter century. Also they support local charities impressive community involvement.

What a cute little spot to grab lunch!! The staff was so friendly and welcoming. Food was amazing and fresh. We got hamburgers, steak sandwich, fries, poutine, hot dog, chicken fingers. Portions were massive!! (We ordered kids size and couldn’t finish it) We will be back for sure

The staff is friendly and welcoming. We got the small loaded poutine, a hamburger and a double burger. The patties in the burgers were juicy 🍔. The small poutine is HUGE!! Great fries 🍟 and flavorful gravy. Will come back !!

I like the place. Small family run business. It is bussy during lunch so expect to wait before you get your order. The burgers were normal. We had fries and potien. Both were ok. The food is what you would expect. If I would go again I will go for the fries and potien and skip the burgers. The portions are very generous. You would be full with less that 10$.

This Chipwagon was absolutely PHENOMENAL!! My husband & I are here in Gravenhurst for Canada Day weekend & upon doing some research I came to the conclusion this place was a MUST TRY. It did not disappoint. The fries were crispy, the cheese was squeaky, the gravy was divine & the portion size was to die for!! The Oktoberfest is my husbands fav & I loved my hotdog as well! Definitely give this place a try & support local!! Also must mention that the owners are lovely. 🇨🇦🍟🌭

The Boathouse Restaurant overlooks Lake Muskoka and serves hearty dishes such as fish dishes served with mash sweet potato. The menu is not very varied, but the food is tasty.
I was in Gravenhurst for a client meeting and stopped by The Boathouse for a quick bite — what a pleasant surprise! The Seafood Fritti was absolutely bomb — crispy, fresh, and bursting with flavor. The cocktail list is top-notch, with some creative mixes that really impressed. I heard the menu was recently revamped by celebrity chef Mark McEwan, and it definitely shows. Great spot on the lake — highly recommend!

Amber handled our group so well. The staff went out of the way to make our bachelorette party so special. They all signed a card for the bride, and the live musician requested what she would like to hear. And the food was lovely!

We went to the Boathouse restaurant for my Dad’s birthday last weekend and everything was incredible. Pizza, pasta and veal chop were delicious and the chefs even made a special dessert board for the table. We had a wonderful time, thanks again to Alicia for the great service. We’ll be back soon for another beautiful patio dinner.
Kait E — Google review
My wife and I came to this restaurant for the first time, and yes, the view is beautiful—but that’s the only good thing about it. We ordered the Boathouse Burger because our waitress said it was their signature dish. Honestly, it was extremely disappointing. The burger tasted exactly like a Double Quarter Pounder from McDonald’s—same sauce, same bun, same lettuce—but smaller, and it cost $27 plus tax. It wasn’t even a big burger; it was tiny. For that price, it was shocking how low the quality was. I wouldn’t be surprised if they literally bought the burgers from McDonald’s. The cheese sticks were good, but $20 plus tax for only six small pieces is way too much. The fries were also a tiny portion. Taylor, our waitress, was friendly and professional, and the view is great—but the food ruins the whole experience. If you’re coming here for the food, don’t waste your money. The Boathouse Burger was one of the worst burgers I’ve had for that price. I will never come back, and I don’t recommend this place to anyone looking for good food or at least a good burger.
Juan R — Google review
The atmosphere of this restaurant is the main reason to eat here. The property is gorgeous and the views from the patio are beautiful. Staff was friendly too. The burgers and fries were regular, nothing too special - same with the drinks. Also, gluten-free bun was dry. But, thankfully the burger sauce made it juicy.
TBH R — Google review
Their salads are amazing. Great tasting thin pizza and top notch views during the afternoon and also the evening night fall. Will revisit again!
J L — Google review
Came to Boathouse Restaurant for my 30th birthday dinner with my girlfriend, and unfortunately, the experience was far from what we hoped for. We arrived at 7:33 PM for a 7:30 reservation — well within the 15-minute grace period — and were sat in a back corner of the patio. The hostess did acknowledge the birthday, which we appreciated, but from there, things went downhill. The view was nice, but the area around our table was visibly neglected. The railing beside us was filled with dirt, spider webs, and dead bugs — not what you’d expect from a restaurant that presents itself as upscale. We weren’t approached by anyone until 8:05 — over 30 minutes after being seated. Meanwhile, a couple sat behind us, who were seated at 8:03 received cold water within 2 minutes. We were finally brought two warm glasses of still water at the same time the other guests received theirs — despite being seated much earlier. It was frustrating to see others who arrived well after us being served promptly while we sat waiting. The dining room inside was nearly empty, and although the patio was full, there were clearly enough staff on shift — which made the lack of attention all the more confusing. Food and drinks didn’t make up for the service either. Our pear and arugula salad came with barely any dressing — just one tiny cup that wasn’t even enough for a small portion. My whiskey sour with egg white had no froth, no flavor, and tasted watered down. My girlfriend’s Caesar made her feel sick. The only positive was our server’s handling of the sparkling water — she brought it quickly, chilled in a bucket, and was polite when she took our order. We waited almost an hour after being seated to receive our food, which was lukewarm despite being served on a plate that was nearly scalding hot. My steak was medium-well with grill marks, but lacked the taste or texture of a fresh grill — it felt reheated, not freshly cooked. What really disappointed us was the complete lack of birthday acknowledgment — despite the hostess being aware and it being mentioned in the reservation. No dessert, no simple “happy birthday,” nothing. For a milestone like a 30th birthday, the silence was disheartening. To make matters more confusing, booking a reservation here — if you’re not staying at the resort — comes with no directions, no signage, and no instructions on how to get in. There’s no one at the front gate, and unless you know to press the intercom and ask for the restaurant, you’re left guessing where to park and how to get there. All in all, this was meant to be a special night, but instead it was uncomfortable, underwhelming, and frankly, disappointing. For the price and the prestige this restaurant aims for, the service, food, and attention to detail fell flat. Wouldn’t return or recommend based on this experience.

Decided to make a drive up north for our 23rd wedding anniversary rather then head into the city and boy am I glad I made that decision. Fantastic service, great view and probably the best pizza I had in a very long time. I will be coming up again with the family in the near future.

Seasons In The Country is a charming restaurant with a serene ambiance and stunning views of the Muskoka River. During summer, guests can arrive by boat and dine on the beachside patio, while in winter, they can cozy up next to the impressive stone fireplace indoors. The Garden Center at Seasons In The Country is a family-owned business offering a wide variety of flowers, planters, and baskets. Visitors praise the helpful and knowledgeable staff who provide excellent customer service.
Thank you for you gorgeous wedding flowers! The sunflowers were just beautiful and I appreciated the ease of communication via email and telephone. I know nothing about flowers and you were so helpful in guiding me and helping me nail down what I wanted/what would work. I'm thrilled with how everything turned out. If only I remembered to carry my bouquet when I walked down the aisle!

Absolutely amazing experience dealing with this business for our wedding. We eloped to Muskoka and all of our communication with Stacey via email was so clear and easy. She was a pleasure to deal with. Our flowers turned out amazing. The flower crown was so good, thanks to the artist who made it.

Chef M — Google review
Edited: gave less star than I originally posted this review because 1)I never received the delivery confirmation email when the flowers were delivered 2)the reply I got under my review just proved all of my points in this review. I had ordered a gift for my family from them with the hope to support local when I’m not in town. Placed the order via their website and when there is an instruction to list a phone number in case any issues arise with the order they can contact someone, I said to contact my partner first. The website to place the order is confusing so I sent an email afterwards to confirm my request. No updates whatsoever the day of and I asked if my partner could call them since I was busy at work. Someone let him know that my family member will pick the gift up and they will reimburse the delivery cost. I appreciated the gesture but got frustrated with no updates for my order on the website or via email and this is the first time that it happened, especially when I paid for something and expected to know what’s going on. Do you want to give someone a gift and not know the image of the gift or where is it going and when and how? There is no confirmation that my family got the gift till they let me know later that day. So the way I knew this whole thing is to have someone call them and have the person who was gifted the gift to let me know, there is no active communication from Seasons In The Country. I sent them another email because I thought it would be better than giving a public review and maybe it can help them to fix their website or their communication accordingly. But no, the owner sent me long response, basically blamed me for not calling them (people have work) and she confused with my reaction and doesn’t think there is a need to confirm with me since my family already came to pick up???? Then just threw a convenient apology at the end??? That’s not how I planned to give my loved one a gift & if emails and website orders are not what you need your clients from, maybe don’t use it. The lack of communication and the disdain attitude are why I will not come back or recommend to anyone, not because of their flowers (even though I have no idea what the gift looks like since the image on their website is not correct, either). I don’t think they need customers because when you point out their faults they just think it’s your fault anyway.
Rainie L — Google review
Christine was absolutely wonderful in the planning and execution of our wedding bouquets. We had much back and forth due to postponing our day, and rejigging quantities/what we wanted. Christine was always so responsive and supportive. I gave her a color scheme to work with the bouquets with no clear direction on florals per say, and they exceeded my expectations.
Daniele N — Google review
Horrible customer service. Couldn't get me out of the place fast enough. Flowers purchased for a funeral, almost $400, were dead upon arrival to the funeral home. Had friends gift flowers from here as a sympathy bouquet, and they died within 24 hours. Would not recommend for anything going forward.

We used Seasons in the Country for our fall wedding. We gave them a few photos of what we liked from Pinterest, and gave them complete control over the style within our price-point. We wanted a simple, full, traditional design and boy did they deliver! Communication was awesome before and on the day of our wedding. Prices were very reasonable. Thank you to your awesome team!

Taboo Muskoka Golf Course

Golf course
Nestled in the picturesque Muskoka region, Taboo Muskoka Golf Course stands out as a premier destination for golf enthusiasts. This 18-hole course, located conveniently across from the Taboo Muskoka Resort, showcases the stunning natural beauty of rugged Muskoka rock throughout its layout. Players can enjoy modern amenities such as advanced golf carts equipped with automatic slow-down features on declines and convenient ball and club washers. The course also offers a user-friendly app for scorekeeping and distance tracking.
Amazing golf course!! Layout is fantastic, and has a lot of unique challenges to this course! Very scenic course too! Tee blocks were in great shape, greens were playing fast but were amazing, rough was challenging to get out of but the course is well maintained overall!!

My friend and I played a round on a very chilly May weekend. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Peter and Leslie were especially helpful when checking in and navigating the course. The course was in tip top shape with breathtaking views at every turn. Bunkers were perfectly groomed and the greens were running very well. However, I don’t believe a round at Taboo should be valued at $219 despite that condition and service. Overall, it was a very good experience and would return.
Michael L — Google review
The course its self is nice. Beautiful scenery and the holes are tough. Some of the bunkers are nice fluffy sand and others are hard as a rock. As for amenities, or lack there of I was very disappointed. No club house is a huge let down for the 250$ you pay. Your food comes out of a food truck, the pro shop is a trailer, the sign in is a trailer, the bathrooms are fancy trailers. The nicest part was that the driving range was free and for the price you pay it should be. All in all very disappointed for the price. This course should be 100-120$ a round not 250.
Paul F — Google review
Not worth the money. I was pretty disappointed. I had some pretty good expectations of Taboo as I heard a lot of good things about it. The friends and people I spoke to said they played it years ago and it was amazing. My friends and I played it and we were disappointed to say the least. The round was roughly $240. There is no clubhouse. They don't get your clubs for you and put them on the cart, which I am fine with but I am not used to paying $240 with no services at all. The biggest thing for us was there was no clubhouse to change or anything. Just a few trailers at the top by the range. The food wasn't that great either. We bought some chicken wraps and they were way too salty so I did not eat mine. Course conditions and layout - It was just OK. There was a lot of brown grass and the greens had clearly had some issues as well. I would not expect this. The layout was pretty nice but I am not sure what they're rule is between tee times but we had a group constantly up on us and we're the opposite of slow players. I believe they stagger their tee times at around 5 minutes. We caught up to some players and we ended up having to wait because they did so we had quite a backup on tee boxes. When I spoke to a regular there he said that's pretty normal so expect longer rounds. Would I go back? Nope! Maybe if they priced it accordingly but there are much better places to play. Do not waste your money on Taboo, sorry.
Trevor — Google review
Avoid Taboo at all costs!! My friends and I booked golf with Taboo for a Bachelor party recently. The groomsman organizing the trip was told by an employee named Brandon that the round would cost $240 per guy ($2,400 total), which seemed really expensive at the time (about 2 weeks prior to the actual round of golf) but was close to the public pricing we saw online. We decided to proceed with the booking as it was one of the bachelors favourite courses. Fast forward to 3 days before our round of golf, we noticed that the course had dropped prices online to $149 per person. We called up Brandon from Taboo to adjust our payment to match the new market rate that Taboo has posted. We were told By Brandon and Taboo that the course would not honour their website listed prices and that we were already locked in at the $240 rate, even though the tee times all around us can be booked for $149 online. Sharing this warning to all: AVOID TABOO AT ALL COSTS! They operate under completely unethical business practices as evidenced by Brandon and the Taboo staff. My friends and I will be spreading the word to avoid this course to our extended networks, and will be forwarding this example of Taboo not honouring their public pricing to the Better Business Bureau for a resolution. Attached picture shows market rates around our tee times (11:00 to 11:30)

Stunning golf course. Hosted one of our tournaments here. Facilities are a bit spartan, but the course is well kept and beautiful.
Valavan M — Google review
Course is slightly above average, price is incredible high for the quality of the course and amenities they offer. Good & drink is comically high. Just book a twilight at Muskoka bay and pay less for a course twice as nice, or pay the couple bucks extra during prime time - still much more worth it. Personally this is the most overpriced course I’ve played in a long time. Not even free water out on the course after paying $249 round, in 40 degree weather.

Played Taboo this week, course was in fabulous condition, greens may have been verticut, but that has to be done and did not take from the experience. The staff are amazing and the service was top notch, a nod to the people who have visioned this ideal setting and lovely culture, hard working and passionate staff. The Check-in, Food Truck and Bar up top is so groovy, casual and warm Love this place and especially the people making it what is is!

The Tree Museum, located east of downtown Gravenhurst in Ontario, is an outdoor art gallery nestled among the trees and rocks. Visitors can explore various artists' installations along a hiking path, with interactive exhibits that can be explored inside and out. The museum offers a unique opportunity to experience nature and art simultaneously. While entry is free for those staying nearby, it's recommended to wear good hiking shoes and bring water for the visit.
If you are looking for something interesting to do in the area, go check it out. I don't think we humans spend enough time contemplating modernity's complex relationship with nature, and this gives us the chance to do that, while out in nature. My partner and I spent a lot of time talking about ideas that were inspired by the pieces, and what actually constitutes the concept of "museum" when it is not a building. It is fascinating to experiece art outdoors, art that was built in, with and about its relationship to its specific location. Thanks to the owners for keeping it open. There was a feeling of going back in time, and we appreciated that nostalgic feeling. We will be back.
Jamie R — Google review
The hike in is by cleared road and you move off path to experience the different installations. There is free parking for about 5 vehicles just off Doe Lake Road. I love art and nature, so really wanted to love this experience. It’s a great reason to go for the walk in the woods. I’m still perplexed by the motivation by several of the works. Go with an open mind.
Sharon S — Google review
The idea is good, but there is not alot of sculptures or art. Honestly, the best part was the strenuous walk in the woods. The art that was there was underwhelming. If you're ever in the UK and want a similar experience, I highly recommend Pendle Hill sculpture trail instead

Very nice trail (actually a rough road-about a km) to the actual tree museum. Nicely done! Older exhibitions (80's to early 2000's). All art displayed are well marked and interesting. No charge.

their house and a few works are on the side of Buck Lake. need walk more than 3km from parking lot to get there. it's a nice trail. a lot of art works along the side. Anti-mosquito spray is a must in summer.

It was our first time in this trail and I am happy we decided to come visit it. The trail is great we took around 3h to see everything no rushing. There are a lot of nice arts and others not that fun but the journey is great, beautiful views. Just be aware to bring your mud proof boots. I made the mistake to bring a light hike shoes and paid a higher price for it. So that is my recommendation. Bring a water proof boot just to be safe to walk everywhere.
Paulo V — Google review
This is an outdoor art exhibit featuring different artists installations accessible by a hiking path. As you walk through the forest you begin to discover these exhibits. These installations are interactive and can be explored inside and out. These pictures were taken in 2005, we visited the tree museum to see my professor’s art installation by Lisa Neighbour. Highly recommend a visit in the fall as the leaves change colour only enhanced our experience.

Basilico is a restaurant with a fun and well-kept entrance that offers friendly and attentive service. The margherita pizza is perfectly cooked with flavorful tomato sauce and generous cheese, while the striploin gnocchi is filling and delicious. The menu includes options for those with dietary restrictions such as gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan. The atmosphere is fantastic, and the staff members are wonderful. However, there was a disappointment when the advertised Canvas IPA had run out prior to the visit.
My husband and I dined at Basilico for an early birthday dinner while visiting the area. At first look the decor and ambience while a tad outdated and a bit cool in the restaurant itself but the food and service definitely made up for it! Ian our server was very knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. Our appetizer and meals were beyond delicious! Unfortunately, we were unable to try any desserts due to allergies but all in all an incredible birthday dinner. We plan on coming back during the summer to enjoy the patio.

We had a wonderful experience dining in Bracebridge! The service was lovely staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel very well taken care of. The menu offered a great variety. While the gnocchi wasn’t quite my favourite (I think the sauce is more of an acquired taste), the mushroom pasta with pesto cream sauce was absolutely outstanding rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The atmosphere was also very eye catching, various art pieces to see. Their appetizer selection was very good, and it was nice to see San Pellegrino available to pair with our meal. To finish, we enjoyed espresso along with a lovely variety of desserts, which made the evening even better. Overall, this restaurant is a gem in Bracebridge with excellent service and a menu that has something for everyone. We look forward to coming back!

Had an absolutely amazing time here with my friends, the service is very friendly, very knowledgeable and they were kind enough to let us dine in even though we were a little late because it was my friend’s birthday. We had a great time and we enjoyed all of our meal here. I forget the name of our server but he was really sweet and very helpful. Will be back whenever I’m in the area. The patio is pretty big and bug free and we were able to have a very good dinner outside. I apologize in advance for spamming you with pictures.

This place is full of pleasant surprises! Fantastic atmosphere, excellent drinks, and amazing food! Also Quinten was friendly and provided excellent service. This is a must visit place for an Italian food meal!

Very disappointing experience. The pizza was completely dry with barely any toppings — we basically just ate bread. The Margherita didn’t even have tomato sauce underneath, and the bruschetta was awful. On top of that, we waited over an hour for our food. Definitely not worth it.

Had a great meal The pork belly dish was different yet tasty. The lasagna was top notch. Worth a try

Pizza restaurant
Pizza Station offers a great value for its delicious pizzas, with plentiful toppings and friendly service. The establishment provides a good selection of drinks and even offers sturdy plates for dining in. Additionally, ample parking is available. While the restaurant has unfortunately closed permanently, it was known for its soft dough and fresh ingredients, making it a highly recommended stop for those in the area. Customers have praised the friendly staff and overall dining experience at Pizza Station.
Very good pizza, the dough is soft and ingredients are fresh. I can easily recommend this place if your in the area and need a wheel.

Very generous with the toppings. Unfortunately even after asking for well done it was just warm. But one pizza fed me lunch and dinner for 2 days because it was so big with so many toppings. I'd go here if I wanted a huge meal but I think there's better pizza in town. Sorry to say as the staff are very friendly.

Price per pound the price point is very good for the pizza's! Service is very good and friendly! Toppings are plentiful! Good drink selection but could use an upgrade. They have plates which is a nice touch and there strong ones as well! Lots of parking which is a good thing during this pandemic!

Fantastic pizza! We're from out of town and this was the recommended place to go. We debated about buying two to bring home. The crust was cooked perfectly, crispy and delicious. Cant say enough good things, they even snuck in our order after they closed! Really great place.

the food is super delicious and always hot when it gets to the door. for sure one of the best pizza places here in town. my only suggestion would be to keep the dips out of the pizza boxes when delivering because it can make the dips get really warm and become a bit more viscous but other than that super food. the bacon crumble is actually real bacon and its really good.

Five stars. Can’t give it anything less for what it was. Sadly, this wonderful establishment has been permanently closed since June. I don’t see any mention of that here so I thought I’d give a heads up for anyone not in the know looking for great pizza.

If you like thin crust pizza this place is not for you. If you enjoy deliciously fluffy zza that feels like you're eating a cloud made from dough, then this is the place to go. Pizza Station is a family owned local joint... an establishment that's been in business forever. There's a reason.

Best pizza in Muskoka. Gluten free and thin crust options. They are not shy on the toppings. Excellent family owned pizza place. Gotta go with the famous Family Square.
