Zoo Sauvage de Saint-Felicien is a must-visit destination in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region, offering an extensive range of activities for families. With over 500 animals from 86 species, visitors can explore the diverse wildlife through nature trails and a 7 km train ride in the Nature Trails Park.
Beautiful zoo! Strongly recommend to visit with kids of all ages.
Andrea K — Google review
Beautifully built into a spectacular landscape. Large and beautiful animal showcases - especially for the Grizzlies, Amour Tiger and Polar Bears. The Train Borealis Ride is the highlight- we saw approx. 15 Bears up close. Really empty on a rainy day in late August. Only complaint: Almost none of the staff speaks english and the train-narrative is only available in French. Most - but not all - texts are in English.

Excellent and nice zoo, it's not more of a zoo itself but a sanctuary, animals are in whenever possible in their environment or a mimic of it. The safari is awesome and let you see some animals in wild state or getting in the area for the bald eagle and have at less than 2 meters from you is incredible. The river crossing the park is so nice. As always in this kind of places food or drinks from their restaurants are expensive but you can take your own icecube. It's not part of the zoo but the route to it, it's very nice ( I departed from Alma, around 96km). The zoo is very big so arrive early and prepare to walk as it closes at 5pm, don't know in winter, but so much to see and sun time is not enough. For kids you can take your own stroll or rent one there with different forms starting at 6.99CAD
Fernando P — Google review
You need at least 4 hours to visit all the sections and enjoy a couple of interactions (when the zoo staff feed the animals, provide explanation and answer questions - the schedule is on the ticket). Polar bears are a favorite and the section with grizzly bears, cougars, lynx and other predators is great. The safari style "train tour" is amazing. It takes about one hour and takes you through the section of the zoo that all animals (except wolves) are free to roam around. Black bears, caribou, grizzly bear, rain deer, bison, wolves, and many indiginous birds live in this huge part of the zoo. It passes through some buildings that demonstrate the lifestyle of people when the fur trade was at its peak. The beaver underground tunnel is very cool. The restaurant is beside the river and the food is OK and relatively expensive. Totally worth the time and money to visit this zoo.
Ali B — Google review
It is great to see the animals in their natural habitat. The zoo is greatly laid out and everything is so nicely done it's amazing!
Frank S — Google review
The zoo was very clean. The "safari" ride was very fun!

Brilliant! The train ride through the wilderness was an absolute highlight! We sae so many animals and they were kept in such beautiful, large enclosures.

Nature & Parks
Chutes a Michel is a park located along the Ashuapmushuan River, offering stunning observation points and walking trails. The area features a fish passage for landlocked salmon and is known for its thousands of white geese due to the local cereal cultivation. Visitors can enjoy the magnificent falls, take leisurely walks or bike along the 6 km gravel trail, and even indulge in fly fishing with a permit.
It's a nice place to stop for pic-nic! You have places to park the car, and few tables near the Chute to eat, people also cycle and hike there. The Chute is impressively large, it's a good stop on the road!

Hôtel du Jardin

4.1

Hotel
Hôtel du Jardin is a roadside hotel that offers classic rooms, some of which feature whirlpool tubs. It caters to various types of travelers, including business and leisure guests. The hotel boasts a top-class restaurant serving high-quality local gourmet food, albeit with a smaller selection. While the food service may not be very fast, it is professional.
Excellent front desk service, beds were very comfortable. Rooms were great. The only thing the microwave oven was located in the hall way for several rooms could have access to one. The front desk did inform me that they were short ovens at this time
John H — Google review
Rooms were basic and bathrooms were small. Had a community microwave out in the hall? They couldn’t afford to have one in every room? They charge $180 for a basic room. No where on the website did it say the restaurant or lobby bar were closed? Definitely would not recommend and probably why the parking lot was empty.
Gary B — Google review
I would have preferred to leave a better review. The rooms are tiny, old and dirty. For 240$/night, not impressed. The bathroom is tiny, at least there was hot water. Elevator is down and no help to bring luggages upstairs. AC was barely working. Mattresses and pillows were blah. There was food under one bed, the pool was packed. It’s a shame.
Karina C — Google review
There are not many options in the area but we were very disappointed with our selection. I booked the only one large suite with a pool view. It was renovated but only had a view of the recycling and dumpster. Definitely no pool view. Another surprise to be had… surprise, no door on the bedroom or bathroom…ya no door on the bathroom. I don’t mean no door on the toilet room, but the full bathroom had no door installed. When I inquired with the front desk they said maybe it’s because they sometime rent it to people with mobility challenges. I’m sure they still like to use the toilet in private. I guess they just forgot to install them when they renovated. They moved us to a smaller, dated room. Was ok but not the quality I booked and wires hanging out of the AC unit. Felt like the hotel was a hazard waiting to happen. Also the AC did not work properly and we were up all night as we could not get the room below 24.5 degrees. We ate at the restaurant and it was just ok. We also did not received our 15% they state when you start at the hotel. The server was swamped and alone. Breakfast the next morning was no better. We waited for 15-20 but no server came so we went to Mike’s. Keep your expectations low if you choose this location.
Melissa M — Google review
We were supposed to have a breakfast with our room to find out no breakfast. Nothing. What can you offer us in lieu. Nothing. Wanted a coffee. Had to pay for it. I wasn't pleased with the answers or how to take care our situation.
Guy P — Google review
Checked in, and after we checked in we were told the elevator was broken. We were on the 6th floor. At least the elevator went to the 4th and we used the stairs for the remaining 2 floors. In the morning the elevator could not be called so we had to go down the stairs from the 6th floor. When we decided to leave early due to the inconvenience the hotel staff informed me that because we didn’t give 48 hours notice we had to pay for the rest of the stay. Horrible customer service. I will be traveling here often to visit my client in the area and will never stay here again. Poor customer service and overpriced rooms for what you get. Avoid this place, give your money to people that value you as a customer.
Troy P — Google review
Although the location is not too far from Old Quebec City, the neighborhood is full of homeless people and random strangers who will make you feel very uncomfortable when walking back to the hotel at night. Check-in time is 4 pm, which is very unusual. The experience is nowhere close to a hotel experience; it's definitely a hostel experience. The building doors are locked, and you need to ring and ask them to let you in if it's before your check-in time. You will be in a very hot and uncomfortable area called the "lobby" with no washrooms, only a bench. There's no greeting, and the staff are very unfriendly. Reception is only open between 10 am and midnight. The hotel room was very hot as the AC was not working properly. We asked the staff to check it, and they admitted that the room is hot, but all we heard was that this is the coolest temperature that the AC can be set to, and there's nothing they can do. Another big surprise was the outlets! We're not sure what the problem was exactly, but when we plugged in our devices, it took them all HOURS to get charged! There was obviously something wrong with the power in the building! I cannot describe the frustration! The fridge was empty, and when we asked for some water, they said we could use tap water in the washroom! This was the first time in my life going to a hotel where I was asked to drink water from the washroom tap. The sheets were not visibly dirty but smelled really weird. We were happy we had brought our own pillowcases. There were no shelves in the bathroom to put stuff like shampoos! So you needed to put them on the floor!!

The wait time for the food was long, but the flavors were AMAZING! Every bite was a treat! The guy who works at the front also cleaned our table, and he did an super thorough job! The bread was tiny but fresh. I ordered the pork that’s $26, it was so good, worth the chef’s price. My husband’s pasta was really good also with homemade meatballs. Highly recommended!

This is the top of the line restaurant in this region. The food is very good and original. Nice spin on classics. The wait staff is nice but as is typical right now they understaffed… The outdoor area is lovely. Very kid friendly: jungle gym just outside restaurants, booster seats available, kid menus, kids under 5 eat free, etc… You can reserve online which is rare in this area. The decor could use some refresher… reminds me of the 90s 😉. Definitely worth a visit.

I’ve visited there when it’s summer and walked to the top of the mountain, if you like walking or running, better to wear long trouser and something to protect the mosquitoes , bugs and flies, It’s nice for mountain cycling , but if you wants to enjoy the view, By the way I liked this place. The lady at the ticket counter is friendly.

Very great place, slopes were awesome especially for a beginner like me. The downside was on the equipment location side, the employee did not look interested by the job at all, very dull attitude with sighs before every task to accomplish. I did not feel safe with the equipment. I had to go back twice because the noot fixation were loose and I even lost one of them. My back feet kept sliding left and right.

(Translated by Google) Super beautiful trails. Lots of rock and roots in places. There's something for everyone but in my case I didn't find a fast track with big jumps and banking. I haven't been in the ski mountain business though. The trails are very well posted and it is easy to find your way around the different intersections. Doing the notches is a must. In the corner of Lake Julien I observed 3 trees that had fallen into the path... a small gap for a beautiful cycling center like this. I notified the reception clerk and seemed to say that it would be resolved quickly. (Original) Super beau sentiers.

Campground
Cottage rental
Camping Plage Robertson in Mashteuiatsh offers a charming camping site near a large beach with stunning sunsets, just 2.2 km from the Amerindian Museum of Mashteuiatsh. Visitors appreciate the clean and well-maintained facilities, including toilets and sinks available throughout the area. The beach is described as nice and calm, perfect for swimming or enjoying a peaceful evening stroll.
Since my mother in law is one of the campers there, I found the place is nice and cozy. The bathroom public is good. They always clean it like 3 times a day. The beach also nice and calm. But unfortunately I dont like getting tan so much so I prefer to go to the beach after dark. Also really best place for me to have a stargazing date with my husband

If you're looking for a beach with the best sunset this one is probably it. We took a site for 5 nights as travelers and our indications as to what we were expecting for was pretty straight forward: 15amp and access to water. The girls at the entrance were sweethearts and really kind upon the arrival. They guided us where to go on the map and that was about it. After driving for a couple of hours and reaching the campground, we noticed that we were "scheduled" on a site with a 30amp setup in the middle of fifth-wheels and trailers. Obviously, we called the receptionist with surprised as to what happened and if there is another site for us to use, even though we clearly know this is one of the busiest week for them, and the girl that picked up was really mean. After a little talk, I ended up asking if they had any adapters to exchange the 30amps to a 15 amps and she said no without even asking then asked the girl next to her and the girl said no without looking either. I'm there for 5 nights and you're telling me that I don't even have access to electricity with a 5 months old baby - either you find me something or I'm leaving. Turns out she phoned someone and was instructed to offer me one of the ten-ish adaptors in the cabinet in front of her desk for 20$. When I was at the office again they were all nice as if nothing happened. Let's make this conclusion short; this place is only supporting its seasonal campers. The washrooms were gross. The roofs were filled with moistures, spider webs and bugs. The showers haven't been washed properly in months probably. The shower-curtains had moisture all over them and the surfaces of the shower had a thick layer of soap residue that turned black. If you are one of the few that exchanged 20$ for the adaptor and want your 20$ back, don't leave before 9am because their office won't even be open. I don't recommend to travelers that will need to use washroom.

Open from June 15 to September 1 on weekdays and Wednesday to Saturday during the off-season, this microbrewery features a cozy tasting room and a lovely covered terrace overlooking the river.
At the end of a long day, this was a fantastic find. The beer and food were perfect. Even had a great view of the river.

When in St-Felicien this is the best local micro brewery place to be. All of their beers are amazing. The food is your everyday choices, its to bad that not every food made fresh, however the nacho platter was good. Prices were very reasonable.

Great place! Great people! Great beers! Do we need more? Probably no, but anyway, the food is great too :) Nice style in the place, on the border of the river. The external tables have a nice vibe with a beautiful view. The beers are all amazing (yep, all, with some help I tried them all for the season 😁)! A must go when in the region, I'll definitely be back to try the new ones in the next season!
