Lund in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Lund, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Lund is a tiny coastal village at the northern end of British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast Highway, known as a jumping-off point for exploring Desolation Sound and the Copeland Islands. Visitors come for sea kayaking, boating, and fishing in sheltered inlets and islands rich in marine life. Nearby trails, including access points to the long-distance Sunshine Coast Trail, offer hiking through coastal forests and viewpoints over the Strait of Georgia. The compact harbor area has a few cafes, accommodations, and docks that make it an easy base for outdoor-focused trips.
With favorites like Malaspina Provincial Park, Okeover Arm Provincial Park, and The Boardwalk Restaurant, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like The Boardwalk Restaurant so you can get the best taste of Lund while you’re here. Visited in the winter for a short quiet walk, lovely views of the water & beyond. Please visit Respectfully while in these areas. The left over shells pepper the area & the beach so be mindful of your pups paws. You’re right next to an industrial wharf too so I’d imagine it gets quite busy in the summer time. But still looks like a sweet spot to pitch up a tent and go exploring.

This campground isn't bad, but it's noisy and crowded. It draws a lot of day use vehicles for Clamming on the beach and other boat related activities. This creates a lot of vehicle and people noise as they set up and take down every day. The campsites are also unusually close together for a BC parks site. This makes the noise worse and reduces that feeling of privacy. I'll take the trade for a beach front site but none of these sites are beach front. They are 'beach near'. The whole place is also very narrow with low hanging branches and a moderately challenging drive to access. There are nice things about it, such as the feeling of remoteness and the ocean air. The views from the beach are great as well. The cell signal is functional for most needs. Just come here in the shoulder season when it's less crowded unless your heart is set on joining the crowds to clam or boat. It could be fairly serene without all that, but with it, the place is more trouble than it's worth.

There are not many camping spots. But if you land one, it's a fantastic campground. It's very close to lake access. Definitely wear water shoes when you get there. The sunset is absolutely spectacular! It is also walking distance to Laughing Oysters. Must visit - the seafood is absolutely fantastic!
Jeanne L — Google review
What a lovely little beach. You can see the inlet and barely see desolation sound! There are a lot of barnacles so bring some sort of beach shoe. Saw a couple black birds, that w was nice. Would highly recommend! Parking is 4 minute walk from beach. Did not see any handi-accessable way to beach but there was a pier!

Small out of the way campground. Can be very quiet especially at night. Beach area is fairly rocky.

The Laughing Oyster Restaurant's view is Okeover Arm. The view and food are awesome. Service is impeccable, warm & friendly. If visiting Powell River then this is a place to see.

Wonderful place to visit. We kayaked over to a beautiful sandy beach.

A great place to camp, have a picnic, explore the beach and so much more. I appreciate the picnic tables and fire grill pits!

Provincial park
Malaspina Provincial Park offers a wonderful opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts to explore its stunning landscapes. With challenging inclines along the Sarah Point road, it rewards visitors with a delightful remote campsite nestled amidst park trails. It is advisable to have a reliable 4WD vehicle equipped with robust tires to navigate the demanding terrain. As you venture through this beautiful park, be sure to carry bear spray as a precautionary measure.
It is all about the Sunshine Coast Trail.
Carl N — Google review
Beautiful! Several ways in from the Lund area and you can feel like you're miles from anywhere. Gorgeous.
Jenny T — Google review
If you have a good 4WD vehicle with thick tires, drive down the Sarah Point road. The grades are insane, but the payoff is a sweet back country campsite along a park trail. There's a good chance you'll have to walk a km or so. Bring Bear Spray.
Ryan M — Google review
Beautiful park. Feather point is a great campsite. And the sunshine coast trail along the south part looks cool.

Seafood restaurant
The Boardwalk Restaurant, located in a cozy seaside bistro built in 1926, offers a delightful dining experience with seating for almost 200 patrons. The owners, Roy and Rayanna Blackwell, are known for their exceptional service and willingness to accommodate guests even outside of regular hours. The restaurant is praised for its delicious seafood dishes such as mussels, clams, fish and chips, calamari, cod tacos, and halibut. Additionally, the establishment offers gluten-friendly options.
What a great location, literally at the end of the broadwalk in Lund. Certainly worth the 45 minute drive from our lodgings to eat here at the start of highway 101. The restaurant is very atmospheric, especially as we were there as the sun was setting, we sat outside, chatted to the fantastic server and other guests, must of whom were repeat visitors. Oh, I nearly forgot to mention - the food was great too!
Mark B — Google review
I absolutely loved this place! The location is just beautiful with the views and the atmosphere of the restaurant being suspended above the ocean water on a boardwalk. There's a sign when you come in that says "the best fish and chips!" So I obviously had to give a review of this place, it takes a lot to impress me! The best part of it was there was a ton of meat and light crispy batter, combined with the tar tar sauce tasted phenomenal, the batter had a flavor to it that wasn't just super oily deep fryer grease flavored. I am not sure if I can place this as number one, but I can definitely say it's in my top three fish and chips! The slaw didn't have much flavor however and the gravy wasn't that good for the chips, yes I got a side of gravy, I always do I also like to critique an establishments gravy if they offer it. As a starter I got the calamari and at first I didn't like it but as I kept eating my way through it started to grow on me. I would have liked it to be crispier, but that is my personal preference. The staff was amazing, and like I said the restaurant itself is magical. I absolutely love it and I would love to make it back there again to try something different!

Good ocean view. I loved the seafood chowder but disappointed with the sourdough bread, $3 for two thin pieces of bread. I also like they served beer from Townsite brewing. The lady who served us was nice and a very dog friendly restaurant.
Takako H — Google review
Really wanted to like this place as it's close to home, in a beautiful location and fully gluten-free for my girlfriend. Unfortunately, that was not the case. They made room for our group of 6 right away, but that was where the service stopped. After 15 minutes of waiting without a server coming by with menus and/or water, one of us went in to grab menus for the table. After another 10 minutes in the sun, we went back in and asked for water. A few minutes later a waitress brought out a tiny water pitcher but no glasses. Glasses showed up 10 minutes later. Eventually our orders were taken, and then when the food came out we weren't brought cutlery or napkins. Eventually we had to go back in and get our own cutlery and napkins. Then there was the food. Soggy battered fish and mediocre fries. 1 tbsp of coleslaw. Weirdly watered down tartar sauce that tasted like nothing. Considering the ridiculously high prices ($24-32 for one piece, $33-47 for two piece fish and chips), the food was nowhere near the level it needs to be. Unfortunately I can't recommend this restaurant. Lots of room for improvement. Lots of potential considering the beautiful spot.

Best gluten free fish and chips I’ve ever had. The waitresses were so pleasant and very accommodating.
Marena — Google review
Great tasting fish and chips! We loved the fries and the fish were some of the tastiest we’ve had. The location (we were out on the patio) was also very pleasant and relaxing. We enjoyed our meal here.

Came for fish and chips, unfortunately, I didn't take a picture of the yummy dish. Ordered calamari and a drink. My gf and I sat outside originally. However, she's allergic to bees. And of course, we had some flying visitors. We asked to move indoors. The waitress was nice and helped us move inside. One bee followed us indoors, and the waitress calmly trapped the bee gently and removed the bee and freed it outside. The fish and chips were great and the summer mocktail was pretty good. Calamari was ok. The view here can be amazing. Atmosphere was nice. Would recommend.

My wife and I came here to watch the sunset and have dinner. What an amazing spot and view. Is the food a little pricy? Yes, but if you factor in the atmosphere, it is completely worth the extra few dollars for that view - especially at sunset. I read a hilarious review on here before coming about the fries being soggy, and I can tell you that they were perfect (see photo). My crispy chicken burger was also delightful. Nice soft bunch, good flavour, nice and moist. Is it the best fried sandwich I’ve ever had? No - but it was exactly what it needed to be. My wife got the fried fish sandwich which was also very nice. My problem with this restaurant has to do with the drinks. First of all, damn are they expensive - second of all they are god awful. I wouldn’t pay 1/3 of the price for what I got. There was supposed to be tequila in both of the drinks I got, and I know for damn sure there wasn’t. I told the waitress but she assured me that there was tequila. But I couldn’t taste it at all - and I have a very good pallet. So I definitely felt jipped and lied to. The pina colada had large chunks of ice, I had asked for it to be made with tequila instead of rum, and again could not taste the tequila at all. There was nothing pleasant about any of the drinks I got. So my advice would be to go watch a beautiful sunset here, have a nice dinner and stick with water. Do not get a mixed drink.
