Bar & grill
Kaka's Bar and Grill is a hidden gem in Moshi, Tanzania, perfect for those seeking delicious Indian cuisine. This charming spot offers an extensive menu featuring mouthwatering dishes like Tandoori chicken and flavorful kebobs, making it a favorite among locals and travelers alike. Despite its unassuming entrance, the vibrant atmosphere enhances your dining experience. While the service can be slow at times—especially during busy hours—the friendly staff are dedicated to ensuring you enjoy your meal.
First night in Moshi Tanzania and we had awesome Tandoori chicken. I was suggested this place by the owner, purely coincidentally at a community event without knowing he owned Kaka’s place. He didn’t say much when I asked for somewhere to eat MISHKAKI or kebobs as others call it. Earlier we went to Reds, took take a way, the meat was so tough, I wasn’t happy. Don’t get fooled by Kaka’s entrance area; the food WAS AWSOME and the Vibe just perfect. The tandoori chicken was Tasty with a crispy outside and tender juicy inside. And the marinade was likely done long ago for it to steep in so well. There were several foreigners, mostly young adults who came and went and who also went to the CLUB he has upstairs. For me being back after almost 50 years. Man I loved the Tandoori chicken with fresh cut fries, their home made chilli sauce and tomato sauce. I LOVED IT, My son loved it and our tour guide loved it. Going back for lunch before driving away to Arusha tomorrow afternoon.

Found this place because of other reviews. Would def recommend. BBQ wasn't ready at 11 AM but we had a couple other dishes that were really tasty. A lil off the beaten path but worth it.
Franki L — Google review
This is an Indian restaurant with absolutely amazing food. The best Indian I've had in Moshi, also cheap at the same time. It was so good that over the month and a half I had left in Tanzania since I discovered this restaurant, I went 7 times with my friends. The staff are friendly but like a lot of restaurants in Moshi, very slow. Once, a group of 8 of us waited for 2 hours. I would call up to pre-order for a specific time. The atmosphere is not the best though, also no decorations, basically a room with walls. The outdoors section is typical BBQ vibes but got very smokey.

Lala Salama Spa

Spa
Lala Salama Spa is a social enterprise established by a graduate of Give a Heart to Africa (GHTA), supporting the organization's programs with part of its profits. The spa offers massages, manicures, pedicures, body scrubs, and waxing. Clients have praised the professional service and variety of offerings at the spa. Some have enjoyed deep tissue massages for post-hike relief while others have found relaxation in Swedish massages.
I've had a swedish massage here several times, and it's always a relaxing experience. Ask for Joyce, she's great. Recently renovated! Feels like more space and better overall layout. One room with 3 beds (with dividers for privacy) and an extra private room. Now bathroom is available. Also, apparently a sauna under construction!
Kim M — Google review
The best massage in Moshi! A cute place and professional staff! I love Joy, Irene, Emmy and Elizabeth. But all the staff have been great. You won't be disappointed!

A must do activity after Kilimanjaro hike. I had a experience of getting 30min deep tissue massage here and very very happy with the quality of service and staff friendliness. They are very responsive and easy to access. Prices are more affordable than hotels and they offer quite different types of massage
Ashkan D — Google review
I had one of the best and most affordable massages at Lala Salama spa. Irene was brilliant, focusing on my most tense areas and providing a wonderful service. Felt super relaxed throughout, would 100% recommend a visit. Very affordable too!
Hilary — Google review
I have read some bad reviews here, but I’m happy to say I didn’t experience any of these. I pre-booked an hour deep tissue massage via WhatsApp about two months ago in consideration of a post Kilimanjaro trek need. I did not have to put a down payment down. I showed up and they got me right in. From the beginning I was very comfortable and being from the US, I can say the experience was very comparable to what I would get there. My massage therapist was fantastic. Hit my full body really well and really got some tension out of my neck as back and leg areas. She used the whole hour and always asked how I was doing. When done, she let me know and left the room. I got dressed and went out, paid what was expected based on their prices, and left with no problems. That being said, I would absolutely recommend for anyone wanting to get a massage for any reason.
Ryan D — Google review
The perfect treat after a long Kilimanjaro trek! My partner and I both enjoyed a massage and facial and left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. The facilities are great and the staff are professional and friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone seeking a relaxing experience in Moshi.
Samuel T — Google review
My partner and I had a massage and facial to help recover post Kili hike. The team were very responsive on whatsapp and helped us book in. They focused on our sore areas and we left feeling normal again! They gave us aloe vera facials as they noticed we were wind and sunburnt and then we got to use their shower facilities which were clean and fully stocked. Would definitely recommend to any weary travellers or anyone who wants a little treat! Plenty of services available.

If you are looking for a quiet ambient in Moshi where to study or work with good internet via WiFi, then you have to visit Ndoto Compass! There are 3 separated rooms that you can use for your calls, discussions, conferences, one big room as silent working space and several tables and sits outside to chill out and eat (eating is not allowed inside, but you can drink coffee and tee which is provided). Goodluck is the entrepreneur behind this: I contacted him and he was extremely nice and helpful, giving me all the details. More working space is under construction in a bigger room aside. Totally recommendable!

I've worked from many coworking spaces while travelling and this is definitely one of the best! Everything has been very well thought out. It's a perfect balance between professional, while still being a friendly and inviting atmosphere to work in. I found it really easy to get into a good flow while working here. The staff are really helpful. There's reliable internet and power (not affected by power cuts). The free tea and coffee is a nice touch. A big plus was the ability to use one of the private meeting rooms for Zoom calls which I really appreciated. Really amazing to find such a great place at such a bargain price!

BURIGI CHATO SAFARIS CO LTD - Tanzania Serengeti Safaris | Kilimanjaro Climbing (Hiking) & Zanzibar Tour Operators

BURIGI CHATO SAFARIS CO LTD offers a range of exciting experiences in Tanzania. From thrilling safaris in national parks like Arusha, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater, and Tarangire to unforgettable Kilimanjaro hiking adventures on routes like Machame and Marangu. The company's professional staff and knowledgeable guides ensure a once-in-a-lifetime experience for visitors.
7 day Lemosho route up Kilimanjaro & 2 day Safari. Get comfortable as this is a long and detailed review of this exceptional company and their people. First let me start with Geoffrey who is the director of the company. His ability to answer all my questions and queries via what's app made it so easy for me to choose Burigi chato safaris for all of my needs in Tanzania. Given there was an 8hr time difference between us I was even more impressed with his response rate. Everything was organised seamlessly from the moment I arrived. I was met by my driver and taken to my comfortable lodge in Mosh. I was met by my guide Amin for Mt Kilimanjaro climb. He provided me with a brief outline of the next days activities and went through an equipment check to ensure we only took what we needed for the 7 day trek. Next day I was introduced to the rest of the support team. As other hikers scheduled on this trip postponed their climb to another date, I had the support crew all to myself. There were 7 in total, I would like to say at this stage these guys are exceptional at what they do. It never ceases to amaze me how effortlessly they make it look. Carrying over 20kgs each up and down the mountain they always had our camp and tents all set up long before we even arrived. There was always a hot drink and meal ready whenever you arrived. At this point I would like to add that Wilson and his assistant cook winner are culinary geniuses with what they able to whip up. Example of some foods like fish and chips, rice and beef stews, spaghetti Bolognese, pancakes, crepes etc just to mention a few. Felt bad as all the food looked great but I was not able to eat too much of it as lost my appetite due to altitude. This is where Weshack my waiter comes in. He really should consider a job in sales as he was excellent in convincing me to eat as much I could to keep my strength up. He did a bloody good job too. He will make a good future guide. Speaking of guides I was blessed with such a great one in Amin who has over a decade of knowledge helping climbers achieve their goals. Again an individual that is exceptional at what he does. Always felt safe and confident with his guidance. The rest of the team like Mike our summit porter, Isaiah the dishwasher and Fred our porter all of who made the journey that much better. The safari was exceptionally organised with all meals and accommodation taken care of. Tarangire park and Ngorongoro crater where phenomenal. The team at Burigi chato are definitely a company I would recommend for any of your adventures in Tanzania. Whether that be climbing the mountain or doing a multi day safari, these are the folks you need to speak to first. I can not speak of them highly enough. Thank you
Zoran T — Google review
My girlfriend and I completed a 5 day mt Kilimanjaro hike via the marangru route. Aside from the fact this was the hardest thing we had ever done, it was also one of the most enjoyable due to Burigi Chato. Communication and organisation was clear from the get go with consistent emailing helping to setup the hike. Once we arrived at our hotel we were greeted by our guide in the lobby who talked us calmly through everything and made sure we had the proper equipment and understood why we needed it. The staff consisted of 5 porters, a chef and 2 guides and we couldn’t fault any of them. Our guides from the start ensured we were comfortable and put nerves at ease, the chef produced so many quality meals that fueled us well everyday and the porters were the nicest and friendliest on the mountain laughing and singing songs making every other group wish they had booked with us. We were always well informed and never rushed which is important and they were genuinely prepared for everything, including the tricky summit morning where they organised another porter to help us to the top along with bringing additional snacks and medication which ended up being the reason we were able to summit and overcome the inevitable altitude sickness. They were the friendliest and most well ran group on the mountain and in conversation with other groups it was obvious that they wished they had booked with us. I could not recommend a company more!

I had an amazing experience with Burigi Chato Safaris and highly recommend them! I booked a Kilimanjaro trek and safari, and everything was well-organized. The vehicles were well-maintained, and the accommodations were clean and comfortable. Their attention to detail and personalized service made my trip smooth and enjoyable. We are recently returned from the most incredible safari experience of our perten life i and my love, we had a best Tanzania Safari tour package, as a couple we were looking both adventure and romantic moments, this trip was fitted in our dream and expectation. From the moment we were picked up, everything was seamlessly organized, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the beauty of Tanzania. Our journey from Morogoro took us through the legendary Ngorongoro Crater and into the heart of the Serengeti, where nature truly comes alive. In Ngorongoro, we were amazed at how close we got to wildlife lions, elephants, and even a rare glimpse of a black rhino, all in one caldera. It felt like a real-life nature documentary, but we were in it. Then came Serengeti, and it was pure magic. Endless golden plains, dramatic sunsets and wildlife sightings. Our guide, provided by Tanzania Safari Radar, was extremely knowledgeable but also warm and patient they made sure we never missed a moment. What truly stood out was how personalized and thoughtful everything was. Tanzania Safari Radar arranged the most romantic stays comfortable, private lodges and tented camps with stunning views and cozy dinners under the stars. They even surprised us with a sundowner picnic one evening it was unforgettable! Tanzania Safari Radar is the tour operator to trust they have well organized safari experience they made our tour not just a vacation but a life changing journey. We returned home with hearts full of gratitude and memories we'll cherish forever.

My friend and I came to Tanzania from the United States with the goal of reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, Burigi Chato Safaris made that goal very attainable. This tour company treated us like family from the moment we walked into their office and that continued until after we made it back down off the mountain. Our guides were incredibly knowledgeable and experienced, the cook prepared meals on the mountain that were phenomenal, and our team of porters were sooo friendly and willing to help in anyway they could. We reached the summit!!! The experience was incredible and I could not be happier with the service we were provided.

Every dish we tried was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully served. You can really taste the quality and care that goes into each meal. What impressed us most was the consistency. Both visits delivered the same high level of food and service. That kind of reliability is rare and made Moshi Delight stand out even more. Whether you’re visiting Moshi before a Kilimanjaro trek, heading out on safari, or simply exploring the area, Moshi Delight is a must-visit. It’s easily the best restaurant in Moshi, and we’ll be recommending it to anyone traveling through the area. Highly recommended!

The food from Moshi Delight was honestly some of the best I’ve had in a while! I ordered the chicken fried rice, and it was absolutely delicious. What really stood out was the unique and flavorful twist especially the addition of Mnavu, which gave the dish an amazing, authentic taste you don’t find just anywhere. The meal arrived hot, fresh, and perfectly packed, and the delivery was smooth and right on time. You can tell this place puts real effort and care into their food, even for takeaway. Everything about the experience felt well thought out and professional. If you’re looking for one of the top spots for flavorful, quality food, Moshi Delight should definitely be on your list. I’ll 100% be ordering again easily one of the best food delivery experiences I’ve had!

We visited Moshi Delight as a family of three, including our energetic 2-year-old, and had a genuinely enjoyable dining experience. From the vibrant flavors to the kind and attentive staff, the restaurant left a top-notch impression. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family-Friendly Touches It’s always comforting when a restaurant is welcoming to families — we truly appreciated the availability of a high chair for our little one. The atmosphere strikes a great balance, making it an easy choice for families, couples, or friends catching 🍽️ Food & Portions The dishes were flavorful and well-prepared, and portion sizes were generous. A lovely bonus was the complimentary starter — fresh and tasty! Every bite felt thoughtfully made, and the flavors were among the best we’ve had in Moshi. Truly top best in both taste and value! ⭐ Final Thoughts Moshi Delight is one of the top-notch spots in Moshi — warm, flavorful, and accommodating. Don’t forget to dress warmly if you're visiting in the evening during the cooler season. We’d happily return and recommend it to anyone looking for one of the best dining experiences in town.

Moshi Delight is a real hidden gem! From the outside, you might not expect the amazing vibe and lively atmosphere waiting inside. It’s always buzzing with great energy, yet still manages to feel cozy and welcoming. The menu is vast, with plenty of options to choose from and everything is fresh and full of flavor. I had a burger with a side of salad and fries, plus a latte it was delicious and very filling. The service is top notch, with plenty of friendly staff always ready to help. It’s clear that they care about giving guests the best experience possible. This place is definitely a must-return spot. One of the top best restaurants in Moshi without a doubt!

Moshi Delight has the potential to become one of the top-best restaurants in Moshi. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the service is consistently attentive and professional. The presentation of the food is impressive, and it’s clear the kitchen is passionate about offering creative, unique dishes. While some meals featured bold flavor combinations that didn’t always land, and a few meats could have been cooked more thoroughly, the effort to innovate is clear and appreciated. With a bit more balance and consistency, Moshi Delight could easily stand among the best dining experiences in Moshi. It’s a promising spot with a lot of heart, and definitely worth a visit if you're in town.

There’s even a fun photo spot with a swing that adds a bit of charm to the overall atmosphere. Coffee shop
Nestled in a charming garden setting, Jay's Kitchen is a delightful spot for those craving authentic oriental cuisine. This restaurant offers a unique blend of Korean dishes and coffee shop vibes, making it an ideal stop during your Moshi adventure. Guests rave about the crispy fried chicken drizzled in honey, garlic, and butter sauce—definitely a must-try! The portions are generous, ensuring you leave satisfied.
2-in-1: Korean Restaurant and Coffee Shop A restaurant that never disappoints if you already know the menu. My favorite is the fried chicken with a crispy crust in honey/garlic/butter sauce. I also love the chicken salad. The portions are large, and the high quality of the same dishes is always maintained. Note: many dishes are spicy by default. Friendly staff. Cozy backyard under a canopy with many maps of Tanzania, which are interesting to look at. Special mention to the BBQ tables where you can grill your own meat during dinner. A fantastic experience! In May 2024, a beautiful modern coffee shop started operating in the front part of the restaurant, run by Faustine, the best barista in Moshi. They have ice cream and delicious cheesecake. Cozy veranda.

The food was good, the iced latte was OK. I got the smallest chicken portion (1/4) and it was so huge, like a whole chicken basically chopped up and deep fried. I could have made 3 meals out of that. I enjoyed the kimchi. I found everything very sweet, so one star less unfortunately.

Fantastic service and delicious food! A must try whilst in Moshi. We came here before and after our Kilimanjaro hike, our favourite place to eat in town. The cocktails are delicious as well!
Alexander M — Google review
I visited this place because it’s famous for Korean food, and it truly lived up to its reputation. The kimchi stew was so authentic that it felt just like being in Korea. The chicken was also delicious. The stir-fried pork had more of a local twist, which was quite interesting. Everything was fantastic, but I recommend paying in shillings. If you pay in dollars, the exchange rate isn’t favorable.

Day 2

South side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the south side side of town. Start the day off with Memorial Thrift Market, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Uhuru Park. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Memorial Thrift Market

Market
The Memorial Market, located in town, provides a wonderful opportunity for shopping enthusiasts to indulge in their passion. Even if haggling is not your forte, simply wandering around the market allows you to immerse yourself in a vibrant atmosphere filled with vivid hues, enticing aromas, and captivating sounds. Tuesdays and Fridays are particularly recommended as they offer the best variety of goods. When you're ready to return to the town center, hop on a daladala and disembark at the bus station.
From the moment I stepped foot into the market, I was captivated by the vibrant atmosphere and the rich cultural heritage that surrounded me. The market itself is a treasure trove of unique and authentic memorabilia, showcasing the artistic talents of the local craftsmen. From intricately carved wooden sculptures to colorful textiles and traditional jewelry, every item seemed to have a story to tell. It was a delight to explore the different stalls, each offering its own distinct collection of goods. The vendors at the Moshi Kilimanjaro Memorial Market were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They were more than willing to share their knowledge and passion for their craft, allowing me to gain deeper insights into the local culture and traditions. Their warm smiles and genuine enthusiasm made the shopping experience even more enjoyable. What impressed me the most was the high quality of the products available. The attention to detail and craftsmanship displayed in each item was truly exceptional. I was able to find unique souvenirs and gifts that beautifully reflected the spirit of Moshi Kilimanjaro, which I will cherish for years to come. Additionally, the market's cleanliness and organization were commendable. Despite its bustling nature, the aisles were tidy, and the stalls were well-maintained. I appreciated the ease with which I could navigate through the market and discover hidden gems at every turn. The location of the market itself is also worth mentioning. Situated in the heart of Moshi Kilimanjaro, it offers a fantastic opportunity to immerse oneself in the local culture and interact with the friendly locals. The market's central location made it easily accessible and convenient to visit, adding to the overall positive experience.

A popular local market selling second-hand clothes. You should come here only under three circumstances: you love flea markets, you have no other place to buy clothes, or you’re an expert haggler. Otherwise, you’ll just waste your time and money. If you’re a mzungu, especially a man, expect prices to be three, five, or even ten times higher—for old, worn-out shorts. Besides clothing, the market also sells shoes, rugs, bedding, and random small items, but second-hand clothes make up the bulk of the goods, imported by the container from wealthier countries. The condition varies from decent to ragged. The place is dirty and uncomfortable, with sellers grabbing your hands to lead you somewhere, show you items, and push a sale. During the rainy season, puddles and mud make walking difficult. Trying on clothes happens between stalls, standing on sacks and cardboard. It’s not exactly a pleasant experience—definitely not for everyone.

Some phrases you may need to know in swahili: Hapana, asante = No, thanks Schillingi gapi (say Schin-gapi)? = how much? Ghali! = Expensive! Punguza bei! = Reduce the price! Rafiki price = special price for a friend (these are the magic words) bei poa! = good price! Asante sana = thank you very much

First time visiting this restaurant/café in the Moshi area. I ordered a chicken burger and the chicken was still uncooked , so that was not the best experience for dining first time at a restaurant and receiving uncooked chicken in the burger! The service was generally slow, and when we asked for a bill, it took forever … Hopefully, when I visit next time, I’ll try to order something else!!

I'm here in Moshi Tanzania volunteering at an NGO for a week. I've been having dinner many a night, so I've gotten to try many different foods. I have totally enjoyed each dish. It's made fresh, looks beautiful, tastes fabulous. They have a wide variety of food; Mexican, Italian, Tanzanian, American. A friend ordered the avocado toast and I was thinking avocado toast like I would get in my home town which tends to be little, a starter. This one was huge. The hummus added another dimension taking it to a whole other level. My only adjustment would be for the egg to be runny. I had the Mexican salad with chicken. It was wonderful. The tomatoes are so fresh, firm, and flavorful, corn salsa adds a touch of sweetness, I think it's romaine lettuce, it gives nice crunch, big plentiful chunks of luscious creamy avocado and shredded cheese. Not too much which was great for me. I don't handle diary well. It came with homemade flour tortilla chips. I liked dipping the chips in the dressing it comes with. Normally I don't put dressing on my salad, so it was nice the dressing came on the side, though it was delicious so I did use it. I also dipped my chips in it. I recommend getting the salsa and guacamole and adding that to it. I think I could have done well to share it was a lot of food. I also had the coconut fish fingers. They were great, I wasn't thrilled with the vegetables, they had no seasoning and were too soft for me, but when I mixed them with the 2 sauces it came with and a little hot sauce it was fine. The rice, I think, was to have coconut milk, but I didn't taste it. I could taste the coconut on the fish though and it was cooked nicely. I enjoyed it. Oh then there is dessert, smoothies, incredible Tanzanian coffee and... I could go on and on. Just go check it out. The food is made fresh so expect a little wait for it.

I have been here for breakfast and dinner. It is amazing. The gardens with tables are beautiful. The food is great. I’m American so was great to have a break from African food and get food that I would eat in America. The avocado toast for breakfast was beautiful and very filling. I couldn’t even finish it. The Chicken Mexican salad for dinner was super tasty and also very filling. I had a hot mocha and an iced mocha and both were excellent. And just as good was that all proceeds go to support the rescue of trafficked girls. I highly recommend whether you just want a good coffee drink or a full breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Great place!

Proceeds go to the NGO Courage Worldwide which supports girls rescued from trafficking!

Moshi's Central Park For tourists: this is not a park in the usual sense of the word, but rather a fenced green area that is closed at night. There is a sidewalk, a few benches, a non-functioning fountain, low-quality children's swings and slides. The park has several local cafes and souvenir shops. Once, while we were sitting on a bench, a woman came up and asked for some money for cleaning the park. It is a convenient place for meetings and 10-minute walks. Locals organize sports activities, photo sessions, and occasionally food and music festivals in the park. Most of the time, there is nothing happening and nothing to do here.

Kili Kahawa Lounge is a delightful restaurant and shisha lounge nestled on Kibo, Lengua Road in Moshi, conveniently located near the Kilimanjaro Express and NBC Bank. The inviting atmosphere features afro-inspired decor that creates a cozy ambiance perfect for casual chats or even remote work sessions.
The only 24-hour coffee shop in the town They make good coffee here. There is a selection of drinks. There’s even a promotion: after marking that you've bought 5 cups of coffee, the sixth one is free (though the staff often forget about it and don’t offer, so be sure to ask at the counter). The unique feature of this coffee shop is that it’s open 24 hours. It’s quite cozy inside: there are several different areas, from tables with regular chairs to soft sofas and armchairs. I particularly like the beautiful lampshades hanging from the ceiling. There’s a separate table for visitors with laptops. The café has Wi-Fi. The food and pastries are quite mediocre. This place should only be considered as a coffee shop.

Was it fresh ...? You decide....On first appearances, the food looked inviting but... my colleague and I were both ill yesterday after eating the (partially cooked) samaki fish. See photo. The fish was cooked on the outside but a bit pink in the middle. We were also served lukewarm vegetables in a sauce. That should have been heated up properly too. Not only is it more enjoyable but very hot food kills bacteria that cause food poisoning. Overall, the whole experience was very disappointing. One member of staff did ask me if I enjoyed my lunch. I did try and tell him I had a problem but we did not understand each other, unfortunately.

Not sure the food's fresh but it was ok. The vegetables in the sauce seem to have been added separately after making the sauce, without any preparation other than cutting them up. Price was not bad.

Seeing the great reviews, we thought we would try this outdoor barbecue experience. But sadly, we was quite disappointed with the service. Considering there was no one really there. Y took over an hour and 10 minutes. To get our food, we asked for sausages. They said they did not have any. So we asked for meatballs instead. We did not get meatballs. We had a kebab which was obviously microwaved and still cold. The things we ordered every time they bring something to the table. We have to ask about something else. We asked for the steak to be medium rare. It came sliced really thin, really. Overdone too chewy for our liking. The chicken was dry and was just reheated. We asked for mashed potato with gravy. There was no gravy they tried giving us a salsa source, saying that was gravy. The complex is self-aware. This restaurant is in a beautiful ayesterday. Old staff are super friendly but the food. The quality that we a very good price in hindsight.

Nestled in the vibrant Shanty Town on Peters Road, Jackfruit Cafe stands out as a must-visit destination in Moshi. Renowned for its consistently delicious culinary offerings, this cafe features an inviting open-air seating area that is especially enchanting during the evening when twinkling lights create a magical ambiance. Families will appreciate the dedicated children's area, making it a perfect spot for all ages.
George was our server and he was amazing!!! He greeted us and was very friendly and professional. George remembered our modifications from a previous dinner in the week as well. He made our experience great and we 10/10 recommended JackFruit Cafe!! The service was also very fast, the portions were very fair and so are the prices. The restaurant is well kept and the ambiance of the outside seating is perfect.

Jackfruit has been one of my favorite places to go in Moshi. I absolutely love their menu and atmosphere. The place is lovely, and the staff is very friendly. This time, I went with a chicken BBQ pizza and a chocolate shake. The pizza was rich, super flavorful, and truly exceptional. Their milkshakes are honestly some of the best in town — thick, creamy, and just delicious. Love the place and definitely looking forward to coming back soon.

Gorgeous, romantic place in Shanty, away from the main part of Moshi. Large outdoor space, perfect for a quiet night out. The road is a little rocky and quite dark getting there so a car would be more suitable than a tuk tuk. Do not recommend walking up. We had the pizza which had a good base and cake for dessert. The outdoor seating with fairy lights added to the romantic atmosphere. The service was friendly, even though it was very busy, the waiter took time to chat to us, set up a table and did not rush us. Insect repellent is recommended as this has outdoor seating.

I love this place so much!! The food is to die for. My favorite is the bbq chicken pizza, chicken burger, and the tuna bowl!!! The service has always been so excellent and it’s very affordable!! Great place to come for drinks/ to come grab a bite to eat. I also do a lot of studying here! It’s such an amazing atmosphere. Oh yea they have mojitos too and they are SOOO refreshing!!

It's a all around winner! Lovely outdoor space, fantastic service, and the food is delicious. The menu has good variety and the specials are a treat... recommending the chicken burrito, but come hungry! The dessert (Honey Cake) was the best I had in Moshi. If you need a treat after climbing Kilimanjaro, this is the place to come.

If you're looking to dive deep into the rich culture of the Chaga people while enjoying breathtaking natural beauty, the Materuni Waterfalls and Coffee Tour is an absolute must. This full-day adventure offers a unique blend of hiking to witness Africa's second-highest waterfall, standing at an impressive 70 meters, and exploring a local coffee farm where you can even brew your own cup from scratch.
Great tour! Unfortunately it rained…hard…and we were soaked & cold but the tour itself was worth it. Guide was knowledgeable. Coffee making was fun & learned a lot of new things about the process. Lunch was tasty. Wear boots or sturdy shoes. Bring toilet paper for using the toilets.

Beautiful waterfall, just be careful if you hike it shortly after rain. When we went the trail was slippery with puddles everywhere. Half of our party didn’t make it to the falls due to the trail conditions.

Beautiful waterfall, must visit if u are in Moshi. The hike is very pretty through coffee, Plantain plantations. Very scenic and a great coffee making experience was icing on the cake

I had a wonderful experience doing this village tour with the guide called Steve. He is mindful of your pace, needs and will really adapt to your priorities. He is also very knowledgeable about the tribes/communities that inhabit the area, as well as about the flora & fauna. I think the tour is a great way to support the local village close to the Materuni waterfall and I would highly recommend being guided by Steve. Was a great day!

Wonderful experience, unique moments with the locals while dancing and preparing our coffee. They told us everything about coffee, and they were friendly with us. The hiking until materuni waterfall was wonderful. Beautiful nature around.

My friend and I had the most wonderful time at Materuni Waterfalls and Coffee Tour, thanks to our amazing guide, Johnson. The hike to the waterfall was beautiful, with lush greenery and vibrant flora. When we arrived, the view was simply breathtaking. The highlight was the coffee plantation. Johnson showed us the entire process, and we loved singing along with the other local friends while roasting and grinding the beans. It was such a joyful and immersive experience, and the coffee was deliciously fresh! If you're looking for a tour filled with natural beauty, cultural charm, and delightful coffee, don't miss this one. And be sure to ask for Johnson – he made our day unforgettable! 😆🙌🏻🙌🏻
Rosie L — Google review
I would like to say that the experience is incredible. I advise everyone to discover this welcoming community. The food is incredible, and the excursion to the waterfall is also amazing. We witnessed and helped with the making of coffee, which we then got to taste. Buying coffee is inexpensive. In short, an incredible experience from start to finish. Thanks again.
Amael S — Google review
We hiked to Materuni Waterfall, which is located at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, standing at 5,895 meters. Every step was worth it to take in the surrounding landscape, immerse ourselves in nature, feel the (very cold) water coming down from Kilimanjaro, and also enjoy the coffee-making process in the area ☕️. Additional Insight: Materuni Waterfall is not only a stunning natural attraction but also offers a unique cultural experience. The area is inhabited by the Chagga people, who have a rich tradition of coffee farming. During your visit, you can learn about their traditional methods of coffee production, from bean to cup, making the hike both a scenic and cultural journey. Note: Don’t forget to wear hiking shoes, especially if you visit during the rainy months, as the ground can be very slippery.

National forest
Rau Forest Reserve is the ultimate destination for nature enthusiasts seeking a deep connection with the natural world. A visit to this reserve in Moshi promises an abundance of wildlife, diverse bird species, colorful butterflies, and lush flora. It's a perfect spot for those looking to immerse themselves in the beauty of nature.
A beautiful and eventful walk through the forest. We saw loads of monkeys and butterflies. The milk spring water was definitely a highlight. We went without a guide, we really enjoyed walking on our own. You could take a guide with you for extra information on the flora and fauna, but for us it would be a little too expensive all combined. You do however have to write a disclaimer that you are your own responsibility in the forest.
Katy L — Google review
It's a nice walk through the forest. Make sure you get a receipt for your payment of the park fee, and don't feel pressured into purchasing a tour if you just want to enjoy the forest on your own. The naturalists at the gate are often great resources for understanding the forest and it's many plants and animals.
Tim S — Google review
I would really recommend this walk. To find Rau Forest Reserve gate in Moshi, just ask for directions to Langoni Catholic Church. It is a really nice outing if you are staying in Moshi and looking for a peaceful 2-3 hour forest walk far from the hustle and bustle of the town centre. Colombus monkeys welcome you at the gate. The entrance fee is clearly indicated ( see picture below). A very friendly guide took me from the mahogamy trees to the spring, then all the way to the rice paddies, and finally to see a huge Mvule tree. I really enjoyed my visit.
Claire M — Google review
The forest is really great and enjoyable with friends...there at oldest mvule and watery milk spring
LAURENT C — Google review
Great place to spot Blue (not so blue) monkeys and Colubus monkeys. The entrance fee is high though (30k), and it has become mandatory to get a guide.
Daniel R — Google review
Such an oxygen rich forest. It was so nice. They should hire out the milk spring for someone to run it and develop the area as w Swimming place. The water is so refreshing.

Rau forest is a beautiful and lush forest teeming with life. You will definitely spot black and white Colobus monkeys swinging from tree to tree. I rode my mountain bike through the forest and I loved the scenery. There's also a massive 51m tree located here. If you want to experience a big forest, then definitely go here.

Pandya Tea Room is a charming Indian tea house tucked away in a small blue building, offering traditional Indian pastries and a cozy atmosphere. It's the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a cup of tea with some delicious snacks.
Indian Tea House with Delicious Sweets In a small building, on the right side painted in blue, there is a hidden tea house offering traditional Indian pastries. At first glance, everything inside seems old: a wooden display case with shelves from the last century, simple tables, and an interior reminiscent of a post office or train station. Everything is just so, and it has a charming coziness. You can sit inside, outside on the small veranda, or in the inner courtyard under the tree and umbrellas. I’m not a fan of meat or spicy pastries; I come here for the sweets. You can find laddu, barfi, pera, mohanthal, and my favorite lacy jalebi. It’s not a huge selection, but it’s the best place in Moshi to taste traditional Indian desserts. Moreover, the tea house is located right in the center.

Nestled on Kilima Street near Gladys Adventure & Safaris in Moshi, Blossoms Cafe & Wine Bar exudes a cozy and inviting ambiance. Despite slightly higher prices, it is a popular choice for both locals and tourists. The cafe offers exceptionally fresh coffee without the usual bitter aftertaste. The culinary scene at Blossoms is a fusion of local and global flavors, creating an inviting dining experience.
Had such an amazing meal at blossoms cafe. After a long day looking for a place to eat dinner look no further.. this is the place for u. Had great service, the food was really good. The atmosphere was great. Place was clean. They even have a backyard out door seating area. 100% recommend!!! Enjoy!!

Food was quite good, the place is definitely the reason many people go, the backyard is wonderful and the food is one of the best in town. Service was really good, I had the T bone steak and was a bit disappointed with it now being grilled but cooked with seasoning, but overall it’s a great place to visit!
Gianfilippo S — Google review
Behind a rather unremarkable sign and a veranda often crowded with cars lies a decent restaurant by Moshi standards. They offer burgers, Mexican dishes, milkshakes, and more. The food is quite tasty. There's Wi-Fi, which you'll need because the kitchen's speed is a clear downside of the restaurant. Go to Blossoms only if you're not hungry right now. For groups, the wait for menus, drinks, and food will be even longer. However, this pace is typical for laid-back Moshi. In addition to a few tables on the veranda, there's a lovely dining room with an order counter and a bar. The dining area is usually stuffy, so I prefer the cozy courtyard with a canopy.
Yuriy B — Google review
This is one of my go-to places to eat whenever I’m in Moshi. The food is consistently great, and I really like their variety of drinks and main dishes. I usually order the strawberry lemonade and the chicken burger. The service has always been quick and friendly, and the food actually reminds me a lot of what you’d get back in the U.S., which is a nice surprise. Definitely looking forward to coming back again soon.

It wasn't so bad but it wasn't good as well. I am living in Tanzania now. it's very difficult to get a pizza with some green vegetable. so when I see the menu and *Margherita* with green leaves(I don't remember what it said the name). I was excited! finally I could have Margherita with leaves! But It came just with cheese and some. looks no vegetable. so I asked to a staff that it said with green but it seems no green at all. what she replied is...you can see if you eat. Okay... I started to eat...but ofc there is no leaves came. I juts felt this place is same as others. I was expected because the reviews were too good. They serve very slow maybe I wait 30min or more. The taste was good. some staff are good but some are not very friendly no hospitality. They also have some local people as well.
Tomomi S — Google review
In eight weeks time we ate here twelve times. The reason why we came back so many times is the ambiance, especially in the backyard. There is a very nice, relaxing ambiance and we enjoyed spending our time here. Regarding food: As starters, we liked the flauta's and the taco's very much. As main dishes, we liked the enchiladas, fajitas, Blossoms salad, Blossoms pizza, Chicken pizza and Beef stir fry. As desserts, we liked the smothered banana bread. But to be honest: all the food here is good. The food is more expensive compared to the streets in Tanzania, but it is less expensive compared to European restaurants.

A pleasant Indian restaurant with a large indoor area, a veranda, and a spacious balcony with tables on the second floor. Simple, decent food without any particular finesse. Note the unusual presentation of meat in the photos—pieces are hung on skewers. For something unique, I recommend trying the Faluda dessert. It’s a cross between a milk soup and a milkshake with jelly. Quality leather menu folders—the most beautiful among all the restaurants in Moshi. Located at the corner of Market Street and Kilima Street in the old central district, so while sitting on the veranda or terrace, you can watch passersby and observe the town's life.
Yuriy B — Google review
The food was good, we were told that it would be 30 minutes before we were served. We appreciated the fact that we were informed. However, the place is dirty.. The walls thick with dirt. The main floor dining room is clean, we were directed on the top floor. The place would gain by a little revamp. I would return for the food but I will not because of the dubious cleanliness.

Deli Chez Café offers nice food. They balance service and price whereby their prices are well affordable..
Ridhimushi — Google review
I went here to grab a quick bite and wasn't as great as I had expected. I ordered Swahili food (Chicken Makange and Ugali), but afterwards, I realised it was an Indian restaurant. The ugali was hard, and the chicken was overcooked and wasn't spiced right. It didn't help that there wasn't power and the place didn't have power backup either - so it got quite hot inside, and they couldn't make fresh juice. But the menu is quite extensive and may be their Indian food is better. The decor was lovely, though - I loved how they used several plants in their interiors.

Visitors have praised the simple yet excellent dishes served here, making it an amazing place to enjoy pasta and pizza.
Indoitaliano was one of the restaurants I ordered delivery while staying at my lodge. I had communication via WhatsApp and they were very kind and prices along with delivery were very fair, and food was amazing! One of the tastiest butter chickens I have had. I highly recommend Indoitaliano to anyone in Moshi who is wanting Indain food or pizza.

Food is very good, staff are very friendly. Indian food is so delicious in town! You definitely need a meal like this after climbing Kilimanjaro!
Miao H — Google review
Every recommendation in Moshi town for Indian food from locals leads to this restaurant and it does not disappoint. It has great combination of Indian food - rotis, curries, rice (bit disappointing) and continentals like - salads and pizzas. We went here twice and felt the food was great for the price point, menu spread is decent and service is fast. Both the times we went we found teams returning from Kili trek celebrating here.
Srinivas D — Google review
The Indian food is impressively tasteless, we got the biryani which had rice dyed green (no idea) and a vegetarian curry both had almost no flavor and for sure no spice in addition it was also very expensive. Save yourself the trouble and don’t go here the best Indian in the area down the road and is better priced.
Laura M — Google review
This restaurant is clearly for tourists, there are often large tables, but we were served quickly. One of the waitresses is very friendly, the other not at all, but efficient. We ate there twice: the first time we tried the Italian cuisine, which was really not good (too much cream, poorly cooked pasta). The second time, we tried the Indian dishes, and they were really delicious! The butter chicken was very good, and we still think about the garlic naan! A real treat, truly delicious! My advice: eat Indian, not Italian, and you won't be disappointed!
Aline J — Google review
We have eaten here two times. The restaurant is a very interesting combination between Indian food and Italian food. We enjoyed the food! I think these were the best pizza's we could find in Moshi! We took Bruschetta Pomodoro, Roman bread, pizza Louisiana, pizza Indoitaliano special and pizza calzone. The first time, we had a waitress who did not smile and who did not look approachable or friendly. The second time, we had a very kind waitress who was smiling all the time and asking us how we were doing. The ambiance is good, not very special, but just good.
Gert-Jan S — Google review
Time: Slow - the food took 40 minutes to arrive and the restaurant was not very busy. Service : Great - very friendly staff. Taste: Mediocre - I ordered the dal makhani and the presentation was great but the taste was bland. It needs more spices and more of a kick to make it authentic. Not bad, however. Menu: Fantastic - lots of vegetarian and non vegetarian options available for both Indian and Italian dishes.
Kesha K — Google review
The restaurant serves very delicious food, with an excellent taste. It has a mix of Indian and Italian cuisines. The chicken lollipops (drumsticks) were my favourites. But everything else in the menu is tasting so good. I love it, will be back for sure 😋😋😋

Fresh cooked food, cheap prices and good taste. compare to other restaurant ,the chicken is more juicy and tasty...chicken with rice and vegetables only cost 5000tsh. it's a bar, so it might be a bit noisy for some people. Cafe
Embarking on a coffee tour in the Kilimanjaro region is an exhilarating way to immerse yourself in the local culture and learn about its rich coffee heritage. Notable spots for these tours include Materuni, Shimbwe, and Marangu. During my visit to Materuni, I paid a modest fee for an unforgettable experience that included not only a hands-on coffee-making session but also a breathtaking visit to the nearby waterfall.
Really liked this coffee tour. We paid 15$ pp to do a coffee tour and visit the Materuni waterfall. We first needed to go to Materuni ourselves. We arranged a bagaji for 15.000 tsz. The hill is quite steep so we compensated the bagaji driver with another 5.000 tsz. Also for coming back you can pay around 20.000 tsz for a bagaji but I think cheaper would have been possible. In Materuni we made our own coffee and we saw a few of the coffee plants. Making the coffee was really fun as the people that were helping started to sing songs. The village looks amazing so definitely worth a visit. Also the waterfall is pretty magnificent. You can buy some coffee at the village. We bought 5 for 100.000 tsz. Also postcards and other souvenirs can be bought.

(Translated by Google) We had a wonderful time with the people who welcomed us to this family coffee plantation. The explanations were very clear. We participated in making our coffee from A to Z in a joyful atmosphere. Each step was accompanied by singing. The coffee was delicious. We highly recommend this experience. Hostel
Climbers Home is a popular accommodation known for its great atmosphere, ideal location, and extensive amenities. The property offers friendly service, a bar, bicycle rental, and cable TV. Guests can enjoy complimentary breakfast and have access to an on-site restaurant and microwave. The private rooms are praised for their cleanliness, mosquito nets, and quality linens. The staff is described as friendly and skilled in cooking. Additionally, the café/bar serves affordable Tanzanian cuisine with fantastic views.
We have had an excellent stay at climbers home, the room was larger than we expected and comfortable. We went on a day trip to the waterfall and booking through the climbers home was far cheaper than anywhere else. They also booked us a shuttle to our next location.

Good location and beautiful view on the rooftop. Viktor at reception is very friendly and informative. I stayed 3 nights on the 1. floor, It was clean, unfortunately quite noisy, and took too long(>30 min) to have hot water after every shower. I had only cold shower during my stay.
Yh J — Google review
I spent two nights here. First one was great. I loved the breakfast, they served pancakes and eggs. I had a good night sleep as the room offered a lot of quietness. What I didn't like is that the terrace restaurant didn't offer a particularly great view. When I went there the second time, They allowed me to checkin a bit earlier than the scheduled time, so I am thankful for that. But the second night was terrible. They offered room number 4 on 1st floor to me. I couldn't sleep that night because of the traffic noise. I had to wait atleast 10 minutes to get the shower dispense hot water. I liked the location though. Western union, some Indian restaurants, cafe, bus stop were all located within walkable distance.

Good rooftop bar with cheap and affordable rooms and meals. Good view of Kilimanjaro from the rooftop bar as well

Strategically located in Moshi town Tanzania. The place is a walking distance to the Railway Station, forex- exchange outlets, public transport stops and is surrounded by eateries. A very convenient place for a fast time visit in Moshi. Not luxuriant but offers enough for its value including breakfast. Our stay was just for one night so not much was experienced.

my stay at climbers home was simply the best!! the location is very good, the rooms are comfortable, but most importantly: the staff makes you feel welcome, just like home. always trying to give you the best service and they take care of the guests. i thank them very much and I hope I can come back very soon.
Amanda I — Google review
Very nice and clean room with comfortable bed with mosquito net. Perfect location, close to everything, including the busy market and the bus stand. The rooftop is amazing, with stunning views of the Kilimanjaro! Breakfast is included and it is simple but good, with eggs toast and fruits. You can also order food for lunch and dinner at a very reasonable price. Thumbs up for the staff, especially Victor, who helped us a lot and was always available for any request! They also have a generator in case of power cut so no problem with electricity.

It is widely regarded as the best budget-friendly place to stay in town, with excellent security measures and cleanliness. I have stayed for 7 days. Its a awesome place very clean and comfortable. If you are going to climb you also can leave your stuff here for free. The breakfast is nice. You can buy everything here. But day time is bit loudly cause the hostel is next to the main road.

A wonderful surprise hidden in Moshi. This hotel is nice with beautiful rooms and a perfect rooftop. The staff is warm and friendly. The chief will cook you an awesome local pilau... So perfect place for a rest and to chill!

I had asked in advance about a transfer from the airport, which was confirmed. Unfortunately, when I arrived, even after waiting for 45 minutes, there was no one there to pick me up. This was very unpleasant because all the taxi drivers were "harassing" me (which I wanted to avoid by booking the transfer in advance). So I had to take a taxi. When I checked out, they apologised for this. Unfortunately, during my stay (two nights at the end of January) there was only one other traveler in the hostel, so there was no hostel atmosphere. Very central location. Unfortunately very noisy as it is located directly on a big road.

We love this place, Moshi town gave us a lot of surprises! Hostel not so big, but staff are extremely friendly and welcoming! Highly recommended!

We had a great time in We Travel Hostel. The people are very kind and showed us the whole place before having to book. Hakuna matata
Loïs L — Google review
The hostel is okay, there are a lot of power cuts (not the hotel fault) but then it's difficult to use the Aircon or do laundry when we come back from Kilimanjaro hike. The food is actually extremely good. We had the lentils local dish, the salad and a smoothie. I was really impressed and wished we had eaten more at the restaurant.

Private room is large and spacious, with a big bathroom. Hostel staff are lovely, welcoming and friendly. Great location in the heart of Moshi. Slightly noisy but that is too be expected with the location. Wifi signal weak from room but excellent at reception and resturant. Good value for money, would reccomend.

Really lovely hostel. There was a small problem with our reservation but they had no problem resolving the issue. The room was clean and had a big bathroom and AC. The breakfast was delicious and is served on a lovely terrace with a nice view. The location is central so it’s perfect for any activities you might want to enjoy in Moshi.

The food was delicious and the service friendly. But we paid a crazy price. We were exhausted, having just come down from kili. We didn't ask about the price. They proposed a mixed buffet for 10 people. It was plenty. However, we payed a rather high price for it (60000 TSH, 24 USD p.p!!!). Being very tired and not having asked before sitting down, we just payed and left. So: do definitely get from the menu or ask the price first to avoid being ripped off as a tourist!

I had a good time with my family and friends, There were parking lots and security was good, the food was not so much and the staff served us well.
Evarist M — Google review
The food is fresh, and the meat is cooked on a BBQ. It's very authentic at a great price. We're back a second time and I had the most amazing meal: banana and meat stew. We also had tandoor chicken which was great, and a beef stew. I believe that this is the best restaurant in Moshi. Excellent food!!

Incredible food. Nice atmosphere. Biiiiiig portions. We had the chicken biryani and wali maharage (Swahili rice and beans). Food was excellent. Kilimanjaro beer was good. Masala tea was delightfully spicy it was given in a thermos good for 4 cups For westerners please note the food will take 1 hour + to be served. The kitchen is open and you can watch them make everything homemade.

Great food, fantastic value for money, clean, simole ambiance, great service. Loved it and will keep coming back! We were here with a big group, we let them know in advance and they prepared a long table.
Nangula M — Google review
Ordered following things 1. Chilli Paneer : was great 2. Veg samosa : inside was good outer layer was not, should be done bit thicker. 3. Chhole batoore : wasn’t a proper bhatoore or Chhole. Bhatoore when taking a part should stretch a little and should be puffed out to the fullest. Choole tasted good but was too dry that it felt almost like chickpea salad. 4. Shahi paneer : the shaak (Sabji) tasted great but the naan that it came with was undercooked, when asked to correct it, they came back with making the outer layer more crunchier but the inside layer was still undercooked. (Though they only charged us for one order of naan, so that was nice of them) 5. Pav Bhaji: The worst in my opinion. Pav Bhaji is only Pav Bhaji when all the veggies within it are meshed together, not full on potatoes pieces, that’s mixed veg sabji at that point. The Pav that it came with was so dry and I would have expected a proper Pav Bhaji pav with so much Indian influence being there. Coming to the sauce bottles, the hot sauce should be in the red bottle and the sweet sauce should be in the orange bottle. That’s an international language. The staff was great hands down but food could be improved a lot

Milan restaurant is one the best restaurant in Kilimanjaro to eat Indian food. Roti, Sabzi, Dal, Rice, Papad, Chaas and many more vegetarian dishes available and at very reasonable rates.

Wow, I did not know that vegetarian cuisine could taste so good! We ate here once and we tried a mix of different things. And we noticed that each individual one of the spices and of the sauces was incredibly tasty. Also, the service was very welcoming and friendly. The ambiance is just fine, there are some tables where we can sit inside.

Milan's restaurant in Moshi is one of the best for their food. They serve tasty bites for breakfast and have a vast menu for lunch and dinner options. They have good food. Staff and owner are friendly and welcoming. It's a simple setup but best known for good food. It's a pure vegetarian restaurant. Clean and nice. It's one of the oldest munching spot in Moshi. Everytime i get to visit Moshi or just transit from Moshi i stop here to have meals. And hopefully will be doing the same in the future.
