If you only have 1 day to spend in Saint-Andre, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Saint-André offers a glimpse of Réunion’s agricultural and multicultural heritage, surrounded by sugarcane fields and vanilla plantations. Nearby natural sights include the Niagara waterfall and easy access inland toward the lush Salazie cirque. Local markets and small farms provide opportunities to sample Réunionese products such as vanilla and sugarcane-based specialties.
With favorites like Parc du Colosse, RESTO SHENG, and The Garden of 1001 flavor, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Restaurant Le Champ Borne and RESTO SHENG so you can get the best taste of Saint-Andre while you’re here. (Translated by Google) The park itself is very beautiful and it is a pleasure to see/discover so many species of spices, trees, fruits. The owners are extremely kind. We see a lot of lizards there, each one as beautiful as the next. However, there are not enough benches along the tour. It's still a problem because the terrain is vast and with young children and the heat of Reunion Island, it's very important to be able to take breaks. On the other hand, there are fallen fruits that have not been picked up, which brings a lot of animals... And we walk in them without wanting to since we often have our heads in the air to admire the vegetation. Finally, and this is the biggest problem: the description panels are very damaged, a large part is no longer even readable. This garden is MAGNIFICENT, you will discover all kinds of bananas, vanilla, sugar cane, citrus fruits (Original) Le parc est très beau en lui même et c'est un plaisir de voir/découvrir autant d'espèces d'épices, d'arbres, de fruits.

(Translated by Google) The garden is beautiful and well maintained. On the other hand, the price found in the backpacker's guide at 5 euros for a self-guided tour is not the one we had to pay because in the evening the price changes regularly and the owner does not notify the backpacker's guide. The cost of the self-guided visit is now €6.50 per person, even for children. In addition, the guide that visitors provide is not up to date and is not in the direction of the visit. We therefore find ourselves lost in front of plants or trees that we cannot identify. Very often the signs in front of each species are erased or absent. It's a shame. Better to book in advance, pay 2 euros more and have a guide who can explain everything and answer any questions.

(Translated by Google) I want to share my experience because I was very disappointed by the welcome at this restaurant. From the moment we arrived, the saleswomen were neither smiling nor welcoming, which already gave a cold impression. When our food was served, the saleswoman didn't even say a word of politeness, not a "bon appétit" or a simple gesture of kindness, which is, after all, the basis of restaurant management. It's a real shame, because the quality of the meal was good and the dishes were well prepared. Unfortunately, the staff's attitude completely ruined the experience. When you go to a restaurant, you're looking not only for good food, but also for a pleasant atmosphere and friendly service, and that wasn't the case at all here.

A very nice discovery in St Andre. The place in itself needs some recovery, it looks a little oldish BUT!!! The family atmosphere is great, with the kahuna (the Mother Velli) who is cooking delicious dishes, and the rest of the family at her side, even with their children plying restaurant games aside us, it was delightfull. You might say that having children playing while you"re eating is nasty BUT watching these two marmailles (children in creole) playing the chef and the client was a pièce of theater. The place are of very good porcelain, the glasses clean without stains on. The creol dishes are tasty. Don"t expect for great variety of beers, but you will taste the most comon local ones. Deserts are great. Even if the building by itself needs a lot of modernisation, you will soon forget about it once you are at table. Have a wonderful time!

(Translated by Google) We just ate at this restaurant after visiting the Colosse. A huge regret. I had the goat massalé, which was sooooo fatty. It's no wonder they served us a huge bowl, since there's not much good to be had from it (unlike the one at Le Carritologue in St Pierre, where all the meat and fish are cooked over a wood fire)! Same for dessert; I had a pineapple millefeuille... Just two measly pieces of puff pastry in which you can't even taste the pineapple (shameful for the pineapple country of Victoria!) and equally tasteless whipped cream! The restaurant is certainly pretty (inside), our waitress was very nice (but she still took away our little one's glass of cot, which he hadn't even finished), as was the lady who welcomed us, but I absolutely do not recommend this restaurant 🙁 We paid €118 each for a cocktail, a bed, 2 main courses, 2 desserts, and a children's menu (also very expensive!) And we left super disappointed! A word of advice to tourists: don't be fooled by the tourist label, because it's very often in these restaurants that you'll eat the worst and pay a hefty bill for nothing. (Nothing beats the very authentic Creole huts, which can sometimes look unremarkable, but where it's terribly good to fill your stomach with delicious dishes 😉 Recommended by our Creole family who live on the island!) We won't be fooled again!
