Nice little beach with lots of shade. It's clean , popular on weekends. The bay is protected from big waves so it's nice even if the ocean is stormy. Food and drinks are available, friendly staff.

The beach is beautiful. There is an island in the middle which shelters it from the elements. So, the water is always calm and great for swimming. People are very nice on the beach. They will get you everything you need. The prices are much cheaper than playa Sosua. Do not go there for the weekend as it gets crowded, but Tue, Wed, Thur are perfect. A drive from Sosua is about an hour.

Been going to this beach now for almost 4 years, it’s a nice calm bay but again when we went it’s a little more wave than most days. It’s normally like a nice pool. There’s really only 1 vendors here and during a weekend or on a holiday it is packed!! But I do love the stillness of the waters on majority of the days

It is a very nice beach but the vendors miss you the day if you drink something and you want tables or chairs they will charge you even though you have consumed something although the drinks bill was not small.....above all, please inquire first what the fun costs

Playa Caleton is a wonderful small beach on the northern coast of DR. It’s a great spot to spend a few hours and experience the wonderful beaches of the area. The water is warm and clear and I love the fact that there are a few natural wave breakers in the distance that allows for calm waters.

It is a “little” secret beach about an hour drive from Cabarete. We really liked it, the staff was friendly and I could rent a snorkel and I found many shells. I recommend this place more than Playa Grande which is near to this place. It is perferct for rest, snorkel and just to have a good day in the Dominican Republic.

Another beautiful cave made naturally and beautiful. Everything about it is so magnificant and a clear water. I love it.

Great beach. Lots of shade and beautiful calm sea to swim. No bathroom but you can give a propina to the hotel next door to use the bathroom. Great for families

You need to go in a small group to share the boat fee $50 USD but the experience is worth it. Everyone in DR are nice but wear sunscreen since the boat don’t have a cover.

We absolutely loved this place. Take the motor boat through the mangroves and watch for the birds and wildlife that surrounds you. Then the boat will exit at sea and you will be amazed by the beauty of the clear blue waters and cliffs. Amazing experience for the whole family!

One of the most beautiful natural beauties of the DR. I highly recommend the boat tour across the lagoon and out to sea.

Laguna in itself is not much to write home about. Boat trip may be worth it. Overall a good quick stopover.

Decent beach, set back from the road so it feels more hidden. Lots of rocks in the water, but the calm beach and beautiful view make up for it.

Nice walk. There is a path beside the vacant house, Villa Lisa, the stone walk way leads you to the beach. The mangrove swamp to the right is full of birds. Quite a noise! Good place for photos. The playa is a nice place to relax, bring your own chair. The rocks in the water make it dangerous for swimming but there are a few spots for a dip when the water is calm. At the east end, the exit from Laguna Gri Gri allows you to watch the boats leave and enter. At the west end there is a grassy patch where the waves create breathing holes in the rocks. It is a shame that the graveyard is in such a poor state. Most tourist don’t even realize they are walking over graves.

Small Practically private. the cleanest beach ive ever been to! and I've been to a few.Clearest Water, Statues and the best fríed fish and salted pork in the Caribbean. It is a must to take the boat tour Once in a lifetime experience

They took 2 hours to deliver our food. The food was not in good conditions, flavor wasn’t good. I told them i couldn’t eat Mofongo with shrimp because I am allergic and they didn’t take the right precautions. I needed up with an allergic reaction. And they don’t take credit cards. Very bad service. Wouldn’t recommend.

There isn't really any ocean view bars in Rio San Juan so the view of the Laguna Grigri is the next best thing. Always a nice breeze and friendly bartender's. Its where I hang out. And the beer is always cold.

Only tryed the restaurant at day time, the food take some time but its worth waiting for. and the gri gri lagune for stand up paddle boarding is a great trip

We only had coffee there . The area is beautiful. For sure we'll go back for lunch .

Great breakfast filled with authentic crepes, cappuccinos, and chocolate puff pastries. Everything tasted nice and fresh. The view of the lagoon is nice to dine to. And the owners of the shop were nice and helpful.

Food was absolutely delicious we ate here several times during our stay in Río San Juan. The drinks were also nicely made and strong! The staff was friendly and very accommodating except for 1 female waitress who had the nastiest attitude. Aside from that the gentleman with the light green eyes was very friendly. I would definitely recommend!!! Fried fish, churrasco, lambi everything so delicious!

JUST WASTED $45. Visited this place on Jan 3, 2023. We ordered a 4 lbs pound fish to share. Was supposed to come with grilled veggies and tostones. Waited for that to come for 1.5 lbs. We were very hungry and asked if something could be served right away ( some salad) : No. We ordered fresh juice : water with sugar and cappuccino that came in a dirty cup, spilled all over. They put a cookie inside and it all devolved which seemed like socked bread inside. Disgusting. The owner and owner never apologized after I returned the coffee. The food finally arrived. We'll, WE LEFT HUNGRY !!!! The 4 lbs fish was mostly a head, there was hardly meat at all. Veggies : 2 cherry tomatoes... grilled veggies for 2 is a tiny portion for a 1 year old. Tostones are jot really tostones . Fish had no taste at all. Do not sit on the balcony : it smells like pee ( coming from near by). Nobody cares about anything. We wasted so much time and $45 , leaving hungry. The worst experience ever. P.S. the owner is present in the restaurant all the time but he could care less. TERRIBLE !

Nice food. Quiet spot for breakfast. They have beers. Only complain is not about the place, but the view. I was expecting to have Laugna Gri Gri in front but the side is being under construction now. Service was quick and place looks average clean.

Better empanadas are here. Great family business. Price are really affordable like 100-150 pesos each empanadas 175 for cangrejo. 110 chicken cheese. All our family enjoy it!

This is our go-to when in Rio San Juan or driving through. The empanadas are made with fresh local ingredients. They are made to order and serve hot. Make sure to ask for the hot sauce. It is also local and very spicy. They also have fresh juices available. They have vegetarian options such as vegetable pizza empanada and cheese empanadas. My husband enjoys the crab, shrimp, and lambi empanadas the most. Prices are good. This is a great place for breakfast, brunch, and lunch.

La Casona is absolutely lovely! Such a cute and cozy spot with the kindest service, everyone was so warm and welcoming. The empanadas were freshly made and incredibly delicious (I’m still thinking about them!). It’s the kind of place that makes you feel right at home. Highly recommend, and will definitely be back on my next visit to Rio San Juan.

Best empanadas in the country. Ordered: mixed seafood, conch, shrimp, and crab; all delicious, with a crispy but not oily crust. Ingredients used are fresh and well prepared. For those who know, 100 times better than “Kikos”. Take a walk at Laguna Gri Gri and check out the beaches which are waking distance.
