Absolutely gorgeous! A fun beautiful day on the boat, and an amazing lunch on the beach. We’ll definitely do this again when we return to DR.

Very very beautiful!!! One of the most amazing places I’ve been around the world! The beaches are super clear and blue. Amazing weather and very nice people! We spent a whole day trip here and it was so worth it! We even slept on the beach for a little nap in the evening. It’s a piece of heaven on earth! Definitely worth every penny spent on this trip!

It was a fun time there. me and my wife meet very nice people there. We enjoyed eating on the beach and swing there. We went on the vip Excursion and it was part of the package..

You either hike through the national park to get to the beach or take a boat. It is beautiful! The water is so clear.

Excellent! So beautiful. Calm waters, warm, not over crowded. Was a great day with the kids, only thing I wish I brought a floaty for us. Otherwise, I highly recommend it.

Super bush walk 1 km and a cool swim in the cave pool. Bring hiking shoes and swimsuit along.

They say you cant walk it from the gulf side, but my friend and I did it in 2 days. Hammocks on the beach . Take bug spray, the Mangrove area is like naked and afraid. Ha

Caverns & Caves
Cueva del Puente, situated in Bayahibe, Dominican Republic, is a must-visit attraction offering a captivating underground cave exploration experience. The cave boasts stunning stalactite and stalagmite formations that have developed over thousands of years. With three levels of paths and 55 rock art paintings, it also holds historical significance. Visitors can immerse themselves in the local culture at the Bayahibe Public Market, where they can interact with locals and savor traditional Dominican cuisine.
If you like a decent hike (45 min and light difficult level as you reach the end) this one is for you! Thick soled shoes like chacos or even closed toed shoes for the rough coral rock, wear pants you have any allergies (lots of overgrown plants on the path, bring a head lamp if possible so you can use your hands inside for climbing/stability and bring water and a snack since there and back are about 5 miles. Nice view of the beach along the way and beautiful cave views inside. At the entrance of the hike the park staff tried to charge us $250 pesos each. We live here and have never paid that much to do a national park entry so we raked him down to $500 for the three of us which was still too much. But, 🤷🏽‍♀️.

It was very hard to find information about this place, and some of the reviews had conflicting info, so hopefully I can share something helpful for others wanting to visit. Google maps will bring you to the end of a road where there is free parking near a gate. Walk through the gate and walk towards the ocean for about 5 minutes to get to the entrance to the national park. There someone will meet you and ask for your payment to the national park. (We tried negotiating as mentioned in other comments, but they were like, no this is a national park. You gotta pay.) Price $250 pesos per adult. He didn't charge us for the kids under 18. Cash only. You then walk along a sandy path for 10-15 minutes parallel to the beach. There are signs and the path is easy to follow. You then turn inland and walk about 40-50 minutes. It is flat but lots of rocks/coral that tennis shoes is recommended. Once the trail starts to incline, you have about 5-8 more minutes to the cave. Right before the cave there is a sign for the cave and the road splits. Go left and you'll arrive at the cave in about a minute. Make sure to bring good, bright flashlights. It was fun to explore. We saw lots of bats and squeezed through some tight spaces. On the walk back it took 45 minutes for the regular speed walkers and 1 hr for the slower walkers. We went on an overcast day, but it was still hot. So make sure to bring lots of water.

We parked nearby and walked along the road for a few minutes until we reached an open area with some houses belonging to the natural park. There, we paid an entrance fee of 250 pesos per person and started the trail to Cueva del Padre Nuestro. The path is quite natural, not well-marked, and not really maintained, but it’s easy to follow since there’s only one main trail. Be aware that if it rains, some parts can get heavily flooded, but because the ground is sandy, it’s still manageable — in some stretches we even walked barefoot. Once you reach the cave, it’s definitely worth bringing a good flashlight to better enjoy the view, although a phone light is fine too. The cave is huge and the floor remains sandy. After the first 100 meters, there’s an opening with roots hanging down, and after another 100/200 meters there’s a larger crack in the ceiling with a tree growing through it. We stopped there without a guide and didn’t go further. The hike takes about one hour to get there and around 40 minutes to come back. There’s not much shelter along the way, so it’s a good idea to bring some rain gear just in case.

Beautiful and big cave, very quiet and no artificial light. It feels off the beaten track since we were there alone with a totally empty dark cave. The walk to get to the cave takes 1 hour, good walk where we saw beautiful butterflies small lizards, a couple of beautiful birds and the walk is over old corals.

Dominican Republic is beautiful. People are super friendly. Cueva del Puente was pretty spectacular but overall experience is disappointing. Ministry of tourism and ministry of natural resources (if they even exist) have a long way to go. A looooooong way. Access signage to reach park entrance is largely non-existent. If it was not for googlemaps we would not have been able to see it. Once we reached something resembling entrance buildings we were immediately met with local official extortionists demanding $5/person access fee. I would like to believe the money went to park maintenance and development, but the condition of the path proved otherwise. Roofless shacks and broken railings… Path to the cave was visible but just barely. You can also access it by walking down the beach and taking a sharp left through the bushes and avoiding legalized robbery… I am not against fees, don’t get me wrong; I am violently against people expecting tips and handouts just because you are a tourist and they think you are rich and owe them something just because you came to visit. This seems to be the overwhelming mentality in DR. The other day we went to see Cueva del Chicho and paid 200DP/head for much the same experience except the cave had a body of water within its depths and we went for a very refreshing albeit pitch black (no lights) dip. Dominican Republic is beautiful. People are friendly but the expectation of tipping for the sake of tipping is ever present and unavoidable. Sadly.

Very cool cave to explore. It is cavernous to say the least. You will need a flashlight or cell phone torch. It might be a challenging hike to get there for some people. Fee was $5 per person, but I'm not sure if the park is actually being maintained by staff.

It's about a 1.5 mi (2.5 km) hike from the ranger station over sand and rocky path with a couple mild scrambles (inclines). The cave is wonderful. Maybe 500m to the far end reminiscent of a cinote with the sun shining down and roots coming from the forest above. Remember extra water and headlamp. It wasn't very buggy but bug repellent was beneficial. The cave floor is a bit sticky dirty. I loved finding a couple bats sleeping through the heat of the day. Take some time to adjust to the darkness in the cave and enjoy!

Wonderful cave. Worth the approx. a one-hour hike from the entrance of the national park. A ticket must be purchased at the entrance. You can't get lost, take the coastal path forward for about 10 minutes and then turn left into the woods. The path leads straight to the cave. Torch, lamp required.
