Absolutely stunning park with lots of trails for walking/ bike paths. It would take days to discover everything. Rose gardens were phenomenal. Clean & Safe for walking as a woman. The river ads a nice touch. Go because you won’t regret it.

I go there so many times! It’s perfect for picnics. The flowers in spring and summer are so colourful. It brings me a peace of mind! If you take your time to carefully explore the park, you will love it even more. I’d definitely recommend you going there on a nice sunny day for a stroll. There’s also a cafe! Many sitting areas and birds enclosures.

Kids and I had so much fun. We went on the train ride. Visited the well manicured Rose garden. The place was absolutely clean, people were friendly. So much to do at 1 spot. We loved it. Well maintained playground.

Lido Aquatic Centre, located in Palmerston North, is a popular recreational facility attracting over 300,000 visitors annually. The center offers a wide range of services and is particularly enjoyable for kids. While the cafe may not always be open, the facility has attentive staff ensuring safety. However, some visitors find certain rules regarding children and slides to be overly strict. The pool area includes family change rooms with clean showers and toilets while offering various pool options including hydroslides.
Me and my 2 yo son went for a swim and it was free for both of us!! Little swimmers cost 3$ lovely staff Awesome pool there's a lazy river too 👌🏾🤗
Jasmine L — Google review
Great place for family hang out, suite well for hot day. Staff were friendly and helpful. Long queue for slides. A bit expensive for the slides. Not recommended to go to indoor hydro slides. Really dark inside, banging the head a few times. If you scare of dark and narrow space. Don't recommend it. We went once and like not for me. Not just me felt that, a few ppl. It is weird to see people went to the Pool in jeans, Pyjama, random clothes. I wish they gave rules about swimming togs only. T shirt on top togs is acceptable but jeans and PJ is weird. And not hygiene. Lots of kids were unwell at lot of runny nose. Parents just used water in the pool to clean there face. I saw a trodler full of poo in nappies go into the pool. 🤢 Staff saw them just ignore. If this happens in Dunedin Moana Pool. They would have been told off. Lots of kids were unsupervised in the pool. We had been in the pool in different town - they were more strict in these rules. When the kids without supervision by their parents. The lifeguard would tell them to get out. Changing room was pretty dirty. Probably need more stuff cleaning regularly. Public areas were not clean. Lots of rubbish around. Probably not enough staff to clean. But they have free cold water available for guests. Really like that. Plenty of parks. If you are not too stressed about some health and safety and hygienic issue. It is a very great place to go on hot day. (water is warm! So good).
Lena K — Google review
Good facilities and the staff are friendly and approachable. My beef is the lack of lane space for people like me who want to drop in and swim a few lengths. Yesterday there were only 2 lanes open, both of these designated Fast lanes. Other 4 lanes being used for kids learning to swim, lots of splashing, very choppy water. Of course kids need to learn to swim, but if lessons are held in the 25m lane pool then the 50m outdoor pool should be open for lane swimmers. Worst swim of my life yesterday, took in mouthfulls of water.

Love visiting the lido with my daughter! We were however a bit disappointed to see the Monster Mash wave rave on Halloween, did not have the inflatable aqua run set up & tubes were not provided and per advertising on the website. Hope to see better from the Lido next time.
Brearne ( — Google review
Great value for money entertainment for the kids. Tara on the front desk was super helpful with our requirements. We really enjoyed our day here.
Shaye K — Google review
Really impressed with this pool. Dont normally travel to Palmy but be worth returning for the Lido. Heaps of family change rooms that have showers and toilets, which were clean. great size pools and different options. Would be fun in summer, lots of hydroslides. Under 4 is free aswell as adult supervising so our visit was free! Only down side was lockers were coin operation only - I never carry cash anymore and having to get $4 out is a bit of a pain, in an almost cashless society. Also would be great if the pools were a little warmer and the showers had hot water, little guy was freezing. The room wasn't as warm as it normally is, in a heated pool enviroment. Great experience, friendly staff, clean facility. definitely will go back. Not far off 5 star. Also, just out front is bike and scooter hire. Good fun!
Faith M — Google review
Absolutely terrible experience, staff are all up themselves and act as if they are better than everyone especially the orange hair worker “Matthew”; He was insanely disrespectful to my 6 year old son when we was asking about the hydro slide by putting him down about his spider man togs (which were his favourite but now no longer wants to wear because of this experience) after I was informed of this we left after 5 minutes of being there.
Mana L — Google review
A nice place to hangout with family. Cost $6 to enter for adults and $3 for kids which only gives access to the pools and spa. But besides the "pools" and spa there are few activities you and your kids can do (for additional 12$/head for full day). Make sure to bring your own snacks and drinks and you can easily spend whole day there.

The walking bridge across the Manawatu River. Walkways and cycling tracks on both sides of the river. It provides a shortcut to Massy University as well. Very open and wide, rare shades area; hat and sun block is a must.

Rather nice place to visit. I go here at night and is rather quite cool to look back at a lit up bridge. Also a great place to zone out and think about nothing. I do this all the time when I go across the bridge. The walkway is also worth it too, especially through the trees

Robertson Prestige International Speedway, located at Arena Manawatu, is a thrilling destination for race car enthusiasts. The venue offers excellent facilities including a newly built large toilet block and a variety of food outlets with reasonable pricing. Managed efficiently with ample security, it provides an enjoyable experience for visitors.
Loved the racing but the food was terrible, tiny, expensive and what's with the "no sugar" policy. I just wanted a Coke with my burger and had to have no sugar version, yet I saw people with candyfloss! Great entertainment all night, however.

Chinatown Restaurant is a must-visit culinary gem that offers an array of delightful dishes, making it a standout in the local dining scene. Known for its exceptional yum cha, patrons rave about the delicious wontons and tender pork ribs, although some suggest adding fresh chili for an extra kick. The sizzling beef is another highlight; it's so enticing that diners often forget to snap a photo before devouring it!
I have lived in Palmerston North for 37 years and finally visited Chinatown. I had the Sizzling Beef. It was awesome. It literally sizzles on the plate. I intended on taking a picture before eating but alas it was so good all I got was a picture of the empty plate 🤣. The service was good but best you point to your menu choice as I told them the number of the dish and they didn't know what I was ordering. Well worth the cost.
Dean E — Google review
Delicious food. I like their har gow, siu mai, and chicken feet. I love their beef noodle stir-fry and lotus wrapped sticky rice. I don't think I can find that type of noodles in the grocery or supermarket.
Phutawan W — Google review
Great service, food was your typical Chinese food. We went first thing so everything was fresh. I do think they could update there deserts options. Pumpkin soup was amazing. The atmosphere was old and hasn't changed in 20 years could do with a lick of paint. All in all 7/10
Brayydoxx T — Google review
I ordered the Peking duck for $80 and it was hands down the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. The taste was absolutely revolting — disgusting to the point I couldn’t eat it. I cannot believe a restaurant would have the nerve to serve something of such low quality at that price. This is not just disappointing, it feels like a scam. Do not waste your money like I did. Serving food this bad to customers is shameful.

Customer service - Outstanding Food - Delicious Atmosphere- Welcoming Hands down one of my favorite places to eat in palmy. Always cooked to perfection and so fresh!

Awesome value and great Chinese food. We had the smorgasbord the first night that was great value plus you get a discount with your Gold Card. Next night, ordered from the menu. Very extensive and great. Wine list is good value, not a rip off. Certainly our go to when back in Palmy.
Chris D — Google review
Amazing experience from staff. Although we went during dinner and the only thing we have as feedback is that there should be more dessert options, especially if youre paying $36 per head. the only dessert there was were, ice cream (2 flavours) a yuck jelly cheesecake thing, a wet pavlova and fruit salad drenched in water. also just random fruit sliced. 3/10 for dessert. 6/10 for main food.
Ranisha W — Google review
Best yum cha around this city, delicious. Wontons are the standout dish here will be my go to from now on. Pork ribs are very tender, but missing the fresh red chili on top. Prawn dumplings and pork dumplings I could not fault . Chicken and glutinous rice was lacking Chinese sausage and a delicious kick. Still very happy with service and food.

Nestled in the charming Hokowhitu area, The Fat Farmer is a delightful bistro that beautifully captures the essence of Palmerston North's agricultural roots. With its vintage-inspired decor and warm hospitality, this eatery offers an inviting atmosphere for diners to enjoy.
Had such a great experience at The Fat Farmer! Taylor was absolutely amazing, she made us feel so comfortable and well looked after. Her service was warm and attentive☺️ We ordered the chicken boa buns, fries and of course palmys best rose buds! Food was full of flavour, fresh, delicious and beautifully presented! Highly recommend this spot for great food, drinks and even better service. Thanks again to Taylor and the Team☺️

Quaint place tucked away. Would say the atmosphere is more of a pub style where you'd get together after work for a few drinks and nibbles. One thing to note is that the meals are shared meals, so more like entree sized items that you share. On saying that the quality of the food was really good. There was only one choice for kids. Was a tad cramped for space and rather loud. The service was fantastic and drinks made well.
Trey M — Google review
Absolutely fantastic! Friendly from the second you walk in the door! We could not make up our minds so asked the staff to pick for us, let's say we were definitely pleasantly surprised! Nice hearty food cooked well nothing you don't need on it, well seasoned. Very warm and inviting best place I've eaten in Palmy by far!
Sandra W — Google review
Consistently amazing food and the service is always great. The atmosphere is casual, more of a pub vibe, so no need to dress up like you’re going to a fancy restaurant. One tip: if you don’t want to hear, or have people hear your private conversations without whispering, request a bar leaner or come with a bigger group so you can be seated out the back where the tables are more spaced out. The three 2 person tables are much too close together, which can feel cramped. Also love that the menu changes often, giving you the chance to try new things every visit.
Natalie D — Google review
Great vibe, service, and food. We went here for my mums 70th, it was perfect. We were a group of 4 kids under 12 years old and 8 adults. We had a set menu, which was excellent. Mum was able to switch a few dishes around beforehand, so when we arrived, no decisions had to be made, and we could just relax and enjoy the evening. The bao, prawns, and crispy chicken were excellent. The lamb, green vegetables, and chips were a lot of food. We ended up with quite a bit of takeaway. The staff were excellent! Friendly and efficient. The vibe was great. It's a busy place, really comfortable with casual decor, bar / restaurant vibe, loud yet you could easily hear everyone at your own table. I can highly recommend this place!
Christine A — Google review
The food was absolutely beautiful! Pork buns were delicious!!! Definitely recommend the sticky date pudding for dessert, the nicest dessert I have ever had at a restaurant. Staff were so welcoming and nice. Can’t wait to come again.

Our first time dining at The Fat Farmer as a group of 5. The service and food was amazing. The concept is all meals are a sharing platter, a nice way to enjoy food and talk amongst friends and family. We ordered the Southern Fried Chicken w Kimchi and mayo, this was so delicious and juicy. Also the Chicken Bao Buns were delicious as well but more meat would take it next level. The Watermelon Salad I didn’t think I would be a fan of, was actually divine, so nice and fresh and all the ingredients went amazing together. One of the best salads I have ever had and definitely the best restaurant salad I have tried. Then our groups most favourite dish, the Angus Beef Steak. The flavours, the textures, this was absolutely divine and we are all still talking about it! Will 100% be coming back and dining at The Fat Farmer

Perfect! This phrase has been used by our waitress more than 20 times. It was amusing each when the waitress asked us how we were and whenever we said we were good, she would reply "perfect". As amusing as we initially were, we were impressed with the attention given to us. Most of the waitresses we encountered were friendly and full of smiles and professional. This reflects positively on the management of Elm Café. The food came and we were quite pleased with what we saw except that my son was a little disappointed with his piece of steak. For that price, almost $40 (tax included), he expected a bigger piece of steak. The taste of the food was good though the Hollandaise sauce was a little bit salty but overall, we were very happy with it. The coffee and chocolate beverage we had were fabulous and the chocolate chip cookie was amazing and a perfect match for our hot beverage, which ended our breakfast with a huge bang.

I have been a number of times to The Elm now and are always pleased with the service and the food. The service is great, staff are friendly and attentive and the food and drinks came out in a good amount of time. The food is delicious, an elevated menu that is a step up from regular Palmy cafe food. A large range of cabinet food as well, which I will be returning to try. Love the Elm!

Average experience. Ordered the French toast - the bread had a bite to it as though it wasn't fresh. The menu also mentions cinnamon but there was barely any flavour of cinnamon in the dish, and the presentation was meh at best. My friend ordered the potato stack - the potato could have used more seasoning, the portion size was very small even for a cafe, and the mushrooms were just thrown on the plate. Once again nothing special. Their lemon ginger tea was nice, probably the best thing we ordered. Don't think I would visit again.

Tried it, loved it. Fantastic service, vibrant atmosphere, great food, ticked all the boxes. I’m vegetarian and the only option was gnocchi, which is fine. It’s a steak restaurant so a single veggie option is all I’d expect and my expectations were low but the “gnocchi” which came was not recognisable as such by appearance or taste. It was rubbery and disgusting. I never really complain about food but it was actually inedible. It’s on the menu at $35 and if I had been there not as part of a large group I would have sent it back and left and absolutely not paid for it. I appreciate large groups are challenging but for the price we were paying ($90 a head) it is unacceptable to serve such bad food. The “spring onion pancake” which was more like a roti was fine so I just ate that. The starters and desserts were also good and the people who had meat said their food was good. Just do not come if you’re veggie.

Wow wow wow wow wow. Just an amazing meal. Took my relatives who were visiting NZ to this place and they have never had a steak so good in their life (and they've been to a lot of countries!). Service was lovely and I loved the atmosphere of everything. Garlic bread was tasty, pate was divine, lamb was the best lamb I've had to date. We polished everything off of our plates.

It was fine, we enjoyed the food and they were prompt and service was great. What very busy which is also a great sign. Just noticed they put pine nuts ... fancy :-)

Beautiful food and lovely staff! The pumpkin gnocchi was gorgeous and fluffy, and scotch fillet was cooked to perfection along with delicious duck fat potatoes. Lemon cheesecake was to die for, the soft meringue on top was sooo smooth. The cocktails were yummy too, especially the Guns n Roses!

Wow what an amazing place. Our first time there for our 14th wedding anniversary. The best steak ever and the service was amazing. We didn't have to wait for drinks and the staff were so friendly and efficient. The best part was when we got a special little surprise and that really made our day. Thank Aberdeen for making our 14th wedding anniversary so special. I also loved that when you were no open I was still able to make a booking online.

Wonderful experience. It was the first place we had a meal as a family in Palmerston North, since arriving and it did not dissappoint. Ive been in hospitality for 15 years, both as Sous chef of a 5 star boutique hotel and manager of a very popular seaside Restaurant in Jeffeys Bay, South Africa. And Aberdeen was truly a great decision. I always hammered it into my staff, that a restaurant is about exprience, not JUST about the food. - Greeted upon arrival with a smile. - Taken to a great table infront of their fireplace - Waiter attentative and friendly, and just the right amount, not to the point of being bothersome. - the food.. just... wow. - the food arrived perfectly spaced out. - the Aberdeen Reserve Syrah was Great with their 500g Bone on Ribeye with Truffle butter. Thank you guys. You will see us again soon.

The care and attention from the fabulous wait staff and crew is always so professional and warm. The food is the icing on the cake! Edit UPDATE! Seriously, this is one of the greatest establishments to eat at. Aberdeen NEVER fails to astonish us with its quality and experience. Please make a date to visit. Our 20-year anniversary was made more special having visited. Thank you as always.

For day 2, we recommend exploring the south side side of town. Start the day off with Central Energy Trust Arena, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Ahimate Reserve. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

It has been a while since I last visited the speedway track in Palmy Nth. During my visit, I had the opportunity to witness the opening night of the season. Accompanied by a speedway enthusiast from England and a French friend who was unfamiliar with this type of sport, we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The evening concluded with an impressive fireworks display, which unfortunately led to some confusion for our French friend due to language barriers.
It's been a few years since I've been to the speedway in Palmy Nth. While I was visiting the area for a sports event, I had time to come out and watch the opening night of the season. I brought along a visitor from England who loves speedway and a French friend who had never witnessed speedway as we know it. We all loved it and it was a great night, finished off with fireworks which my French friend thought was just for him! (lost in translation, his English wasn't great!)

Home show was ok but quite sterile in the setup. Lacked the wow factor as an event. Could probably be presented better with some investment. Did enough to meet the expectations, though.. entry price was quite good as well.

I attended the Brick Show. Manawatu came inside with a large model of the wind turbines and the Feilding clock tower. There was a COVID-19 tracer QR Code to scan on the door. Those taking the money at the entrance to the hall were friendly and attentive. The rooms looked clean and spacious. The walls were decorated with Lego posters and banners which looked good. The tables had been laid out with plenty of room for visitors to move around. The toilets were clean but not very private with cubicle doors a step away from the foyer door. There was no soap or towels in the disabled cubicle.

Awesome place to be to see some good dirt track racing. Good food vendors. Always enjoy it evertime I visit with the family.

Recommend going at least once if you haven't been before, preferably on a special event night eg with fireworks or a demolition derby. Bring extra clothing for when the night cools down, and a home packed lunch as commercial food packaging will not be allowed in the venue and food sold here is over priced + lines can be very long. Bring earmuffs for the children as it can be very loud, and a pair of sun glasses may come in handy for flying dirt!

This place is absolutely fantastic! One of my favorite features is the playground, which is filled with colorful equipment and fun structures. However, it's a bit disappointing that it's designed specifically for younger children—if I could, I would be playing in the dark room and building a brick wall right now! I understand the need for age restrictions to keep the little ones safe and happy, but it still feels a bit limiting. Despite that, the overall atmosphere of the area is vibrant and welcoming, making it a wonderful spot to visit and enjoy the surroundings.

Nestled on Albert Street in Terrace End, BABCO - Brick Artisan Bread Company has been delighting taste buds since 2014 with its exceptional range of artisan breads and pastries. This family-owned bakery is celebrated for its commitment to quality, using organic flours and locally sourced ingredients to craft a variety of traditional European-style baked goods. From their signature sourdough loaves to flaky croissants and delectable danishes, every item is made with care and passion.
Palmerston North is so lucky to have BABCO. This is the best bakery I've ever come across in New Zealand. Beautiful bread and pastries, a decent price for the sheer quality. Tried one of the soda water spritz drinks this morning which was equally as good. Just amazing!!

Good experience on all occasions visiting Babco. Go early to have a wide selection of the pastries and sandwiches on offer. The lines can sometimes look overwhelming but move relatively quickly. Cookie croissant is a must for chocolate lovers ! It's decadent and indulgent. Heads up that you can ask for pastries to be warmed up in store. Much more enjoyable for those that were meant to be served hot

Picked up some breakfast treats from here today. There was a line when I arrived but it moved quickly and once I ordered everything was ready within minutes. I ordered the Crookie (cookie croissant), berry custard croissant, farmers tart (ham, cheese and mash potato tart), a hot chocolate and a mocha. The pastries were delicious! Light, tasty, and not too sweet. The hot drinks were also very good. I also bought a lovely bunch of flowers for $35. I highly recommend Babco

If you're a fan of pretzels, this café should definitely be on your radar. With a great selection of flavors, I went for a trio: plain, chili cheese, and garlic cheese. Each one had its own unique appeal, but the chili cheese pretzel absolutely stole the show. The perfect balance of heat and savory flavor made it a standout, leaving me wanting more. The garlic cheese was a solid choice as well, offering that irresistible, cheesy garlic kick that’s tough to beat. The plain pretzel was perfectly classic, soft and warm, a simple but satisfying option. To top it all off, the staff were incredibly friendly, making the whole experience even better. Whether you're in for a quick snack or indulging in all three like I did, this café has the pretzel game down.

Unfortunately the change in ownership is all too apparent. Cannot recommend the pastries at all. You would do better at the supermarket. You cannot make pastries without butter!!! Pain au chocolat HAS to have chocolate in it. Used to love this place. Dear owners Thank you for your response. We have eating pastries from BABCo for years. Never before have we had doughy, damp pastries. Not at all crisp, fluffy pastry. I assure you that I know what we have been buying for all these years. Today’s offering was not the same. Was it a bad batch? Whatever went wrong you will need to figure it out and correct it. Possibly your oven was not hot enough? I have now eaten some of the baguette, it too seems slightly doughy. Damp? It is ok, but not the high quality we been accustomed to. I could have kept quiet and simply never returned. In stead I am telling you about it in the hope that it can be corrected. I could see over the years the dedication and effort that went into creating BABCo . Today I feel sad. You can be assured that the pain au chocolat did not have the usual amount of chocolate in it. I know that it is difficult to produce good food in the current climate and make money. Personally I would rather pay more for excellent quality than buy food where the ingredients have been skimped or “dumbed down “. Best wishes Paul

Great place for lunch. We stopped here to get takeaway food. This is a popular place and busy. Lovely atmosphere, cosy decor, and friendly staff. Lots of pastry options to choose from. We had the cheese stick, ham and cheese croissant, ham and cheese toasted sandwich, vegetarian sandwich, and custard donut. The food was fantastic, not one disappointing thing. I loved my ham and cheese toasted sandwich. It was really filling and full of flavour. The BBQ/chilli sauce was a nice touch (albeit odd to have sauce with a toasted sandwich), it really enhanced the flavours of the sandwich. The custard donut was divine! I highly recommend this place whether you are dining in or taking away. It is definitely worth stopping here. My only fault on this place is the time it takes to get your toasted sandwich. If you are in a hurry and they are busy, perhaps don't get this.

A pleasantly laid out circular amble through NZ rugby history. Early exhibits reveal the raw toughness of the founding game and the memorabilia is interesting. The displays seem to devolve in quality as the years progress, giving way to gay colours and exposing the softening changes that has seen rugby deteriorate as a male sport. Worth a one off visit.

Really amazing hospitality and service from the team, they took time to set up a colouring table for our tamariki, served our babies dinners alongside the starters, as the rest of the meals came out 1 of the team brought out some toys for the kids to play with while the adults ate, then followed with the kids sundaes. We had a party of 17 almost half were children so the attention to cater to them didn't go unnoticed and made our evening relaxing and enjoyable for all. The hostesses were both kind, patient and respectful. They had also situated us in an area that was comfortable and spacious not an easy thing for a party this big. Overall loved the hospitality and atmosphere. The Kai, chefs did a great job at getting everything out together, plating looked great. Looking over our table everyone seemed very happy, there were a few starters followed by our mains. A few mains were on the smaller side, in saying that next time I will be opting for a starter, main and dessert to really get the dining and Kai experience. Unfortunately I didn't think of that while I was there so that's not on the establishment for that 1 where as my partner would've liked more for his main. The kids portion sizes were good and all seemed happy with their meals. Only small critiques over the table, main size is a little small, potatoes with the lamb was a little bland needed a bit of oomf and a bit more gravy, everything else was great, the sauce with the tacos is really yummy. Regardless I loved our evening there for me it was a great night out with our whanau. It was a slow night which I think added to the easy flow of our time their, only 1 other group and a couple. Great evening, thank you to the whole team you all did a great job. Ka mau te wehi!

We went on Sunday for a family lunch. We ordered chicken from starters, burger, beef steak, and chicken nuggets from the kids menu. 3 drinks. We paid 136 dollars which seems reasonable for the number of dishes. The portions are reasonable. The food lacked taste. It was bland. All our dishes seemed to be just cooked with salt only. The taste was very average. The service and staff were nice. The tables were slightly sticky. The hanging curtain that you see in the photo looked like it was not cleaned since installation. My review is based on the taste of food mainly.

Another great meal at Aqaba! The portions are always generous and the food is consistently delicious. This time we had the Philly cheesesteak and the Asian salad with pork belly. Both were packed with flavor. The staff are super friendly and welcoming every time. Definitely one of our go-to spots in Palmy!

The coffee was excellent, food was excellent, the food portions were generous, and the food was brought out quick. Staff were really nice. And atmosphere of the establishment is really interesting with nice design aesthetic and not overcrowded with plenty of space around each table. Place is well heated and cozy. Definitely an eatery on our list to visit again.

The best birria tacos I have ever had and I’ve had a fair few of them before including some local here to palmy which I think are good but Aqaba just does them on a whole other level, thoroughly impressed. My husbands fave was the burger, seriously so good and such a soft bun. Loved the vibe, staff were so friendly especially Dani making sure we were well looked after and communicating on wait times due to 2 massive parties having booked out most the place. Nice to see a restaurant doing well! We will be back, highly recommend.
Chloe B — Google review
We went as a group of 6 last Saturday. Although my sister had booked and received confirmation of the booking they did not have a table ready for us. They did set one up at the back adjacent to the toilets. We arrived at 6:30 and they only had one serving left of one of the mains. Our mains didn’t arrive until 7:45 pm which is quite a long wait. However the surprising thing was there are no vegetarian main meals on the menu. We were told they could change any dish to vegetarian but we couldn’t see how that would work. They just leave the meat off the plate? There was no explanation of what the protein or replacement would be. Fortunately my daughter eats fish but she said it wasn’t that nice. The other meals were ok. The good thing is they did not charge a surcharge for bringing our own birthday cake which I did expect to pay. They also gave us complimentary icecream and cream But I would not recommend this place if there is a vegetarian in your party. No vegan melas on the menu either. No one checked the menu before hand because members of our party had been many times before. The menu has been significantly parred down.

The staff here are not only friendly but also incredibly efficient, effortlessly managing the hustle and bustle of busy nights. I had an unforgettable late-night craving and placed my order just before closing time—much to my surprise!
The Dominoes location was quite small, but despite its size, it was surprisingly clean and well-organized. I observed the staff frequently using their phones, and while I couldn't tell if it was work-related or personal, it did catch my attention. Regardless, the staff were exceptionally kind and efficient. They were friendly and handled the busy environment with ease. I was particularly impressed with the speed of service; even though they were busy, I didn't have to wait long for my order, which I had placed online. The restaurant was clearly popular, with a steady stream of customers, which is always a good indicator of a successful business. Overall, it was a positive experience, and I'd definitely consider returning.

I ordered Indian-style pizzas from Domino’s, Terrace end palmerston north branch. but the pizzas were extremely disappointing. They didn’t look or taste good at all — the sauces were poured so badly that it looked like someone had just squeezed the whole bottle on top. We called the store politely to let them know about the issue, but instead of listening or helping, the staff spoke very rudely. Very unprofessional behavior and a really bad experience overall. Totally not expected from Domino’s. No hygiene at all.

Asked for a mega pepperoni and this is what we got. Very disappointing! This is not the first time quality has been disappointing. Where are the toppings??? I will be going elsewhere from now on. New management is shocking!!
Julz — Google review
Very poor customer service today. My pizza wasn't delivered so I called the store up and the guy hung up on me so I called a second time and he refused to redeliver my pizza he told me to reorder online and pre pay with my card but I don't understand why they refused to redeliver my pizza if he gave me that option anyways. He was so rude. Pioneer Domino's would've redelivered with no hesitation. Me and my husband had a long day from both of us working and looking after our baby we just wanted to relax and enjoy a warm meal. 1 star for 2 very disappointed customers and empty bellies. Terrence end dominos employees are probably enjoying my pizza for free right now.
Chibi O — Google review
Very disappointing. I used to love going there but this was the last time. Toppings were minimal, only half my pizza covered in sauce. Not lying when we say it tasted like the supermarket pizza with a little extra. Garlic bread was nice though and lovely service.

One uncooked onion rings and rest of them were over cooked, have look at the image. Good job guys.
Ketan P — Google review
Very disappointing experience. The Indian-style pizzas looked and tasted bad — the sauce was poured messily all over. When we called politely to share the issue, the staff was rude instead of helping. Not expected from Domino’s.

we placed an order really late- just before close without realising their closing time. They delivered so fast and thankyou so much for delivering past closing time. Apologies to be those customers but thankyou so much great delivery driver.

Restaurant
Nero Restaurant, located in Palmerston North, has been a local favorite for 20 years. Housed in a historic building with landscaped grounds and a charming courtyard, it offers various spaces for special meals or events. The cozy and intimate atmosphere makes it perfect for a romantic evening out. The food is not only delicious but also beautifully presented, and the service is friendly yet highly professional.
When I first dined here 2 years ago, I was not particularly impressed overall, due to the high price point and somewhat disappointing flavours. However, upon revisiting it recently with my partner, I am pleased to say that I have left with a much more positive impression. As soon as we walked through the doors, we were greeted by a big welcoming smile and led to our table. After ordering, we were surprised to be presented with a complimentary pani puri filled with a delightfully sweet and savoury walnut cream. These were a great way to whet our appetites and really set the tone for the evening. We decided on the dumpling special and venison carpaccio for our entrees. The dumplings were absolutely bursting with umami flavours from the shrimp inside, complemented by chilli crisp and peanuts on top. In contrast, the venison was a delicate dish with incredibly tender meat that kept us wanting more. For our mains, we decided on the beef filet and lamb, with a side of truffle fries. Both of these were extremely tender and well seasoned, and we enjoyed the various flavours that the garnishes offered. The truffle fries were crispy and very flavourful, especially when accompanied by the creme fraiche on the side. The dessert we shared was the tiramisu. This was a fantastic way to end the meal, being a decadent and flavourful dish. Overall, Nero has proven itself to be a wonderful restaurant with great flavours not to be found elsewhere. Next time you want to treat yourself or a loved one, it cannot be recommended enough.

Best restaurant in Palmy for celebrating special occasions. Best steak in Palmy. Very tender and flavourful. Lamb was also cooked to perfection. Went there to celebrate my friend's birthday and they even prepped the dessert special for her. Definitely coming back!

Beautiful food and presented well. Unfortunately, dessert was a little too sweet for my taste amd the meringue was too hard and solid for us to cut through (although-others at the table loved them 😊👍). Overall great experience with great company and staff were excellent and accommodating 🥰

Booked here for a birthday dinner and the meal was incredible. Best dinner experience for us in Palmy. We were welcomed in from the cold despite turning up slightly earlier than booked, with warm friendly smiling faces. The atmosphere was cosy but classy. The amuse bouche for the evening had cashew cream which I can’t eat, but Scott had already planned a special amuse bouche for us (which was his pate - absolutely great because we were both really close to ordering that as a starter!) We both had the prawn and shrimp ravioli with citrus butter sauce and salmon caviar for starter. This is without a doubt the nicest pasta dish we have had at a restaurant. Flavours were incredible and we both wanted more. All of the dishes were fantastic but this was my favourite of the night. We both had the pork belly with kumara and orange purée, sage lemon and Gruyère arancini, crackling and house-made apple & remoulade salad for main. Ordered a side of duck fat potatoes too. Absolutely delicious. Flavourful, exciting, everything perfectly cooked, and it was fine dining and hearty at the same time. For dessert we had the creme brûlée and the tiramisu. Perfect ending to a meal. Simple dishes done very well and just the right amount of sweetness too - they weren’t sickly sweet. You could taste every individual component of each course. Each of us had two glasses of delicious white wine throughout the meal from their extensive and well thought out wine list. The team is fantastic and our server, Holly, was very attentive especially to my allergies, and double checked everything for us. She went above and beyond and she always had a smile on her face, and we felt very comfortable in the restaurant. I would wholeheartedly recommend Nero to anybody who wants to experience a fantastic dining atmosphere in Palmy. Thank you for making a good birthday great!

Every time I have been has been a wonderful experience. The food is always tasty, the staff are always friendly and very easy to deal with. The drinks options are great, i definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a nicer restaurant in Palmy! Definitely not somewhere you would go to eat large amounts, but the meals are full of flavour and definitely leave you feeling very satisfied!

A very nice restaurant, upon arrival the caterers were kind and engaging, even greeted us with a welcoming entree. All n all the food was perfect especially with portioning. Holy shit the steak was great as well and id recommend the fries with it. Thanks for having me and my partner !! Enjoyed our time with you :)

We went here for the first time for our 18th wedding anniversary. It has a cozy, intimate atmosphere and was lovely and warm on a cold evening. Our food was divine and the service was friendly but also highly professional. We loved our evening at Nero.
Julie F — Google review
Disappointed with the food, risotto was too soupy( two diners had two different consistency), was served pork when asked for a vegetarian option (was quickly rectified which we appreciated), lamb cutlets were meduim raw when asked for well done. Went with high expectations but didnt deliver. Please add more vegetarian friendly options on your menu.

The restaurant is known for its freshly baked bread, melt-in-your-mouth falafel, and a variety of divine dips and spreads. Additionally, they serve traditional Turkish coffee that will leave you craving for more. The restaurant provides a clean, stylish ambiance with friendly and accommodating staff.
What a fabulous find! We have just enjoyed the most glorious meze served by a delightful young lady in a wonderful Turkish restaurant in Palmerston North. Well done to all involved in the preparation and serving of such a lovely meal.

Got pick up take aways. The place looked really nice and welcoming inside. Would go back for an eat in experience. I did find what I got to be a little pricey. It was good food so no complaints there. It just wasn't amazing for the 50 bucks I paid. The beetroot dip however was absolutely on point as was the bread in the bread and dip starter. If I'm getting take away again I think I would just try the kabarb based on price.

Nice place and good service. Like all Turkish restaurants. We had chicken shish, mixed shish, chicken burger, chicken on chips, 5 dolmas and 5 soft drinks. With a Turkish delight. Overall cost 164$. Good taste, Definitely expensive. But then this is nz 4/5 for taste and 2.5/5 for value. ================ Visited again June 2024. Not much has changed. And the food / quality / value remains the same (along slightly expensive given the rise in everything) .. good place

Call me a turkey cause I gobbled down this food. I had the chicken Yavo which was nice, however its mushroom sauce had A LOT of mushrooms. Go figure… All around though it was good, Baklava was lovely but had white spun sugar that looked suspicious like an old man’s hair. It made me go Türki-“ye”

Don't get me wrong I used to love this place, however the last 3 times I've eaten here have been pretty rubbish. My most recent kebab had the tinfoil wrapped into it so I had to dismantle the thing to get it out. the wrap was burnt to a crisp. Even the meat was sad with no seasoning and tasted pretty bad. The salad was soggy and didn't taste fresh... I just don't understand how they got it so wrong. I was starving after a full day at work and couldn't finish the thing.. The last couple of experiences I've had were quite similar so I don't think I can recommend this place anymore. Come on guys, get it together. $16.90 should get me quality.

Book store
Bruce McKenzie Booksellers, located in Palmerston North Central, has been a beloved independent bookshop for over 20 years. Despite its proximity to the public library, the shop offers a unique and diverse selection of books, including new releases and niche reprints. It also boasts an impressive Maori section with books on reo Maori and matauranga Maori. The store's welcoming atmosphere is complemented by helpful staff and loyalty rewards for customers.
The minute I walked into the store, I was served by a lovely lady who even recommended some great books for my friend's son who was turning 2. It was lovely receiving that treatment after visiting Junior Kids Store across the road beforehand, and standing there for 15 min looking to purchase a beautiful toy truck but was not served. Perhaps I didn't look "rich" to the blonde lady behind the counter. That's okay though as I was happy to give my money to this bookstore instead whilst being treated with respect.

Lovely! Very neat and tidy with friendly shop owners. My faves were Olive books (a great initiative ❤️), the wee flower and gifty shop (that I can't remember the name of) and the plastic free supermarket (amazing range of goodies, lovely service and sparklingly clean!). The only thing that makes me sad is that it's not here in Perth 😭 Great work team! ☺️

Te Arapiki a Tane, also known as the Tane's Stairs, is a popular spot in Palmerston North offering stunning views of Mount Ruapehu and the city. The stairs consist of two sets with 180 and 220 steps respectively, providing a good challenge for those seeking exercise. Accessible from Cliff Road, these stairs are not only great for fitness but also offer an opportunity to admire the majestic Manawatu River from above.
Best steps yet! Since my 100 day challenge we thought we would try the steps today and i must say they were a killer but it was a winner 🫰

Great views on a perfect day. Best step climb exercise anywhere near Palmy but very slippery wood step boxing when wet and descending down the steps so tread carefully. Really good cardio exercise! Very short walk and dogs not recommended as mostly steep steps.

If you want some serious exercise without having to pay a cent these steps can provide. There are two sets of steps. One has 180 steps and the other 220 steps. It's a good challenge to go up without stopping. The view is great from the top. On a clear day one an see Mount Ruapehu. Also a good view of Palmerston North and the river. Easy uphill access by Cliff Road and there is parking at the top if you just want to see the view. Step to it 😁👍

Park
Arapuke Forest Mountain Bike Park in Palmerston North offers a variety of mountain biking experiences for all skill levels. From easy to advanced downhill trails, scenic backcountry roads with towering wind turbines, and a 2-3-day adventure through rural areas on the Manawatu Cycleway, there's something for everyone. The park features well-maintained trails through regenerating forest and offers a paid shuttle service for those who prefer downhill rides.
Lovely MTB park with a good array of trails that suit beginner to advanced. Trailforks has a few nice routes and it's pretty easy to expand on them or adapt to your ability.

Fantastic bike park. Good range of trails including technical flow and jump trails. Can be quite slippery after rain so best to wait till it's dry or be bloody careful!

Well built for a smaller park. Download your map first before going - there is very little cell phone reception. Consider taking a PLB if you are on your own, it's quite remote.

Sledge Track

Hiking area
The Sledge Track, located near Palmerston North, offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and adventure. Starting at Kahuterawa Reserve, this track follows the scenic Kahuterawa Stream, providing opportunities for picnics and bird-watching. Initially an easy walk suitable for families, it features waterfalls, swimming holes, and picturesque picnic spots. As the trail progresses past Argyle Rocks, it becomes steeper and more challenging.
Sledge track - Awesome walk. Highly recommend. Otangane loop - Bloody tough going. Track is well marked and you can make a track out but left at the loop junction up to Pukenaenae lookout is pretty much all bush bashing. From the lookout back to the junction on the other side is better but still some bush bashing required. Lots of hook grass and bush lawyer so highly recommend gators. Even then be prepared to be attacked by the bush lawyer. Quite a bit of mud but no where near as much as what I was expecting after the rain we had with the cyclone. Although this tramp really pushed my limits (put my pack weight up to 12kg) it was so totally worth it for that view. If mud, bush bashing, fighting hook grass and bush lawyer isn't your thing I wouldn't recommend this track. But like I said, the right hand side of the loop isn't quite so bad so maybe an option for you.
Damon F — Google review
It’s a nice place. Access to water and you can put your feet in the water and enjoy the beautiful view. Just remember on the way there is a 3 km drive which is off road until you reach the parking. In some places two cars can’t cross each other so you have to wait or reverse. Plenty parking. There are no cafes in the parking area. I didn’t see any. Bring your own food etc. different options for walking Long and short, easy, moderate and hard.
Fatima J — Google review
Loved it. Nice easy walk up the Sledge track suitable for families & young kids, there’s also a swimming hole if you’d like to go for a swim. Can go via the Swing Bridge back to the main Kahuterawa car park if you’d like. The hike past the swing bridge is a little challenging but not too bad. Path is well maintained.
Nur H — Google review
Excellent track, and very well maintained tracks. Would be nice to have more signs in the tracks to assure they are on the right track. The drive in is a bit hard woth gravel road and some tight places where only 1 car can fit, so be rrasy for some tight squeezes. The walk was brilliant will be back to do the longer walks.
Ali A — Google review
Great walk with different tracks for everyone and well signed! I completed the loop, crossing the swinging bridge to then return to the car park via the mountain bike tracks. Would highly recommend this for a shorter and less intense walk, although still steep in places.
Ella C — Google review
Great place to hike. Did the Toe Toe loop and back in just 4h 15min. Some parts of the Toe Toe loop are a bit slippery other than that, well maintained and worth doing the trip. The gravel road leading up to the carpark is fairly well maintained with a couple of potholes.

There's nothing better than walking here on the weekend! It's a place where you'll become hallucinated by the freshness of nature. When the breeze touches your face, your messy thoughts will be wiped away. Feel your mood lift as the stream's water cools. Walking here is a treat.

Food very average although cabinet cakes were good. Coffee was burnt and arrived almost cold. Menu's were sticky and looked dirty. We had to ask for cutlery after our order arrived and the kitchen looked unorganised. Staff were not friendly and seemed unhappy. Wouldn't recommend going here when there are so many other choices. They did have some GF options though.

A fantastic cafe we discovered in Palmy. Good coffee and the best eggs Benedict I have had in a while. Very cool decor with some interesting art. The staff were friendly and efficient. Right by the square in the city centre which is full of interesting sculpture. Recommended.

Came in for a post-21st breakfast on a Sunday morning. The warm, sunny setting was not just mirrored but amplified by the incredibly friendly service and a really genuine welcoming approach. Judging by the cheerful hellos and goodbyes of locals, who the staff all know by name, this is a popular cafe for some really good reasons. We loved our (very reasonably priced) family breakfast and anytime we’re back in Palmie, we’ll be back to Cafe Express -thanks team!

Let’s start with positives. Coffee - great 5/5 star 🌟 Service - great 5/5 star 🌟 Food - 2/5 star 🌟 Prices - 3/5 star 🌟 Apart from 1 other person I was the only person there at 11.30am on a Saturday. The place looked closed from the outside. Simple bacon and eggs really was just simply that. Nothing special and nothing more than I should have made at home. No seasoning on eggs, bacon tasted cheap, bread tasted like $1.20 bread from the supermarket. $25 for bacon and eggs and coffee is quite expensive in my opinion but it is what it is in this country at the moment. I definitely wouldn’t rave about my experience here and would’ve been better off to just just get a takeaway coffee and go home to make my own brunch.

Their waffle was great! The fried chicken was crispy and yum.. Hmm the curly fries was pretty good too. But the waffle was the outstanding one here. I order Cookies and Cream thickshake and I got Vanilla instead. I wasn't paying attention that it had no crumbs and I already had a sip, so might as well just drank them to the half of the glass (I didn't finish it because I just didn't like the plain Vanilla flavour in general I guess). However, it was great overall. Could have been better if they made sure they got the order right. ^_^ I tried my bf's iced chocolate and that was definitely better than my drink. :( definitely get the iced chocolate next time!

Amayjen, pronounced Imagine, is a renowned restaurant that has been recognized for its excellence in the Beef and Lamb Awards for five consecutive years. Chef Andrew Mays' expertise in using locally sourced meats is evident in every dish, earning the restaurant a spot in Cuisine Good Food Awards Top 100 NZ Restaurants. The husband-wife team behind Amayjen aims to provide an exceptional dining experience with superb food and warm ambiance.
Food was plated beautifully, portioned correctly and taste was spectacular. The service was magical, didn't need to ask who's birthday it was on the night and suprised with desert chocolate writing wishes to make the night special. We tried the new menu, that was not updated on the menu. I would recommend not to look at the menu, as the menu changes. Which isn't a bad thing, just don't set your hope on specific items on the menu. Otherwise, we really enjoyed our time being served with delicious food.

WOW! Managed to get a last minute booking for 2 people on a Saturday night (30/08/25). We had seen the menu online to get an idea of what to expect. When we arrived we noticed the menu was different to what was on the website, but the options still looked great, so we quickly chose an alternative meal. I have a severe tree nut allergy which they catered to easily and our server was very mindful to that. We loved every single thing we ate and drank. We had 4 different wines throughout the meal, a beautiful goats cheese and beetroot 3-ways starter (normally has walnuts too) and the battered king prawns. Both excellent! We had the main for 2 - the best beef short rib I’ve ever had. Braised mustard seeds, black garlic glaze, bearnaise sauce and pickles. They recommend 2 sides - we ordered 3. Creamy smooth Agria mash, charred Brussel sprouts with kaffir lime oil (and usually almonds), and roasted hot-honey glazed carrots with labneh. Would wholeheartedly recommend. For dessert, we had the vanilla creme brulee with white chocolate soil, creme fraiche ice cream, vanilla gel, poached tamarillo and tuile. Beautiful and all made perfectly. Also had the Maltesers taco which is one of the best desserts I have ever had and there was just the right amount of each ingredient. We could not fault a single thing we had. Everything was perfect. Easiest 5* review ever. The date we visited Amayjen was the 10-year anniversary of my dad’s passing, so it was a very difficult and flat day. Amayjen were perfect and actually managed to end the day on a great high. We have been discussing the meal since, and we will definitely be back. THANK YOU AMAYJEN!

Amazing service once we walked in the door! Wow the place looks great and the food is packed full of flavour. The Smashed Avo on toast was beautiful and, I also had the beef brisket eggs Benedict. When I say best brisket I’ve ever had paired with a really tasty hollandaise sauce. I must say it puts Robert Harris down to my second favourite cafe now and I’m a die hard fan. Thanks for this great experience I will be back.

Beautiful food with some nice innovative twists. Good value and comfy booth seats. Attentive service - we were lucky to get in with a rush of bookings just after us.

Went to brunch of a showgirl. The food was incredibly average, not worth the price at all. The brunch items were the same price as they usually are on the menu except without some components such as my waffles had no ice cream, whipped cream, and vanilla gel and bananas weren't caramelized. Very disappointing. Cocktail was incredibly meh. We were really looking forward to this brunch but left disappointed and will not be back.
Sarah H — Google review
The quality and taste of mains was disappointing for the price point. Photos look good only. Even something as simple as "twice cooked" chips and onion rings were very oily and not crispy. Waiting staff were slow and unprofessional and seemed uninterested in their work. The only redeeming part of the experience was the sundae I tried, which was nice but nothing special at $21. There are far better eateries nearby that offer better tasting and quality food at more reasonable prices.
Noel J — Google review
Good service a little slow but awesome staff. Food was hit and miss across our 9 main meals. Chicken Kiev great ,eye fillet great, salmon and beef cheeks both a little dry. Deserts were a hit. Would go back but with a smaller group.
Kiwig1rl — Google review
Great food though a very slow service. I had their eye fillet which was excellent. The starter was very tasty and well presented. The desert looked great and tasted fine. The service staff may need some training and the ambience is clean though a little lacking in character. Certainly lots of upside potential here. The chef knows how to cook and present! The wait during a busy dinner time was around 90 minutes.

Motel
Nestled in the vibrant heart of Palmerston North, the Palmerston North Motel is a delightful retreat that combines comfort and convenience. This charming establishment features bright and straightforward units equipped with kitchenettes, making it perfect for both short stays and longer visits. Guests can unwind by taking a refreshing dip in the outdoor pool or relaxing in the soothing hot tub after a day of exploring.
I haven't stayed here, I'm looking for a place to stay for a couple of nights and came across this Motel. I was interested until I read the reviews and saw the replies from the owner. It is shocking to see the attitude and unprofessionalism in the review replies. Perhaps consider taking a few Customer Service Training lessons and revamping the place, instead of becoming all defensive and rude and trying to tell customers they are wrong, despite them having photos to back up their words.

Terrible Experience at Palmerston North Hotel I recently stayed at the Palmerston North Hotel and it was a complete disappointment. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a receptionist who clearly lacked basic customer service skills. It felt as if I was an inconvenience rather than a guest. The room itself was a nightmare. It reeked of old smoke, which was incredibly off-putting. To make matters worse, when I went to use the bathroom, I was horrified to find remnants of urinal waste under the seat. Absolutely disgusting! I expected a comfortable stay, but instead, I was left feeling frustrated and grossed out by the overall cleanliness and lack of attention to detail. I will definitely NOT be recommending this hotel to anyone. Save your money and find a place that values its guests and maintains proper hygiene!
Neville H — Google review
Recently stayed, my partner booked a couple of nights for us. Safe to say he didn't read the reviews but I'll give it a two star because the place was a decent size, had a big bed and the location was good as very central. The shower did not have good pressure and it was hard to get the right temperature, so the place does need some serious maintenance. Who am I to judge maybe maintenance is not something that they can provide at the moment. There were a few ants and I also got a fright from a cockroach 😂. The place was a bit smelly and I did feel unclean being there, sad to say. I did look like there's people who actually live there in the rooms so I do believe maybe there's only a couple of rooms that are available for booking. Over all it's a run down place, it is cheaper then other places so it is up to you what you pay for. We did book a night somewhere else at B Ks premier which was amazing so ending the trip lovely.

Just needs a fat clean. I am a cleaner I found myself wiping skirting boards and dirty marks on the doors. Please don't come for me in the replies lol we enjoyed our stay, the cleaner just needs to do a better job. Beds were comfy and definitely will come back when we are down there next.

9 women on sporting even over 3 nights- 3 to a unit.Had stayed there before several years ago and could not fault it. This time - 2 chairs in one,4 in another etc - and not enough glass ware. Cobwebs around lounges, sliding doors on all units swinging loosely,no spare pillows in wardrobes,in fact 2 cushions from sofa which were used for extra pillow were completely removed after first night,as was one pillow from double bed when a lady had taken her own. No beds were made. Very tired all round.. No motel light at gate at night. Only bonus was close to shops and our sporting venue.

As an organisation that visits Palmerston North on a monthly basis we have made a note not to use this accommodation provider again after just one visit. Communication and customer service were extremely poor with the manager/owner complaining that we had 'interrupted her tea' when called at 6pm on Friday to report a missing phone. The manager/owner was insistent that no phone was present in the room and refused to look further, phoning management at the weekend to complain about the interruption which was a double-standard she seemed unable to grasp. The phone was indeed in the room. The owner/manager's attitude is not conducive to an enjoyable stay nor to a successful business and we do not recommend this motel.

I understand this is not the Hilton And didn’t expect that but when u pull back the sheets and see large amounts of hair in the bed and a stained blanket, dog hair and human hair underneath the sheets,no service text only Get told no that most of the that is under the sheets so acceptable was a surprising text back ,very low standards and disgusting Glad was only one night ,I changed rooms slightly better,I think the next room had the bed made not just the sniff test , wouldn’t recommend or stay again To the reply below what a joke If only the photos I added to review showed By all the bad reviews on here Instead of being so defensive be apologetic about the state of it It was disgusting and u know keep on blaming everyone for honest reviews

Located just outside the city, The Herb Farm is a charming cafe and shop surrounded by picturesque rural landscapes. The 2-acre herb garden not only provides fresh ingredients for the wholesome and organic food served in the country cafe but also serves as an enchanting playground for kids to explore themed gardens and hunt for fairies, gnomes, and elves. Additionally, visitors can peruse natural skincare products made on-site while learning about native flora and fauna through informative boards along the way.
Absolutely love every visit to the Herb Farm and cafe. Set in the most beautiful, tranquil location rich with history, it’s always such a treat to come here. The food is consistently delicious, the service is exceptional, and their natural products are not only stunning but truly effective. It’s the perfect spot to relax, recharge, and enjoy a little piece of magic in the Manawatū. Couldn’t recommend it more.

Not far off the main road. Plenty of parking. Nice shop full of body products like exfoliating cream, masks, face cream, body cream, etc. Next door to the shop is a cafe. It looks like a fantastic place to come to on a warm, sunny day with all the outdoor seating. Inside is cosy and welcoming. We ordered coffee to takeaway and didn't enjoy it unfortunately, was a bit weird the flavour. I'd be keen to come here with the family for breakfast or lunch. My husband walked around the garden and unfortunately with all the rain it was wet and not easy to walk around, it was also very cold! It's worth a stop, I'll definitely be back in warmer weather.

Awesome experience. Came out for a coffee so we could wander the gardens. Ladies behind the counter were nice and especially nice to my young son. Big selection of cabinet foods and coffee was good too.

Have never visited the Herb Farm but I have been using their facial products for a few weeks. The products are beautiful and I am seeing good results. My only moan is that I did contact the Herb Farm via email after placing my order as something seemed to be going awry with the shipping and I asked if they could investigate. I never received any reply to my email and 2 weeks on, I still haven't. Great products are a good thing but service must be part of the package.
Brenda H — Google review
The staff at the shop impressed us the most. She was friendly and shared information about The Herb Farm, its owner and their products. It’s a pity that it is winter and one can hardly smell the fragrance from the herbs. However, this place has an interesting them of elves and fairy. It has sign post and boards that are educational and encouraging. The greatest regret is that we didn’t make any reservations and couldn’t dine at the cafe. But we are glad to walk with the natural products produced at the farm!

The herb farm is about 20 minutes drive from Palmerston North, tucked away in the farmlands between Ashhurst and Bunnythorpe. Parking area is gravel and close to the building. The gardens are amazing to see with a descent variety of herbs planted about. They do have a meeting room available. There is also a spa beauty shop. Their Cafe is well laid out with good seating options. The service can be slow during busy times, we had our orders taken at our group booked table which was good however had to wait in line for 20 minutes before we could pay upon leaving. Their menu pricing is on the higher end. I ordered a herb farm big breakfast, which was delicious but overall think an extra slice of bread as I only got one slice with two eggs and another mushroom would match the price. The eggs Benedict looked lovely too with lots of hollandaise, the other dishes order at the table also looked lovely. Coffee was good, perhaps a bit small but did not ask for a large. The Bottles of water filled with Mexican Marigold was a real treat. The view out to the blue gum tree was lovely with fantails birds flying about. It is definitely worth visiting and can be the perfect romantic spot for couples.

Had such a great lunch here the other day, food is amazing, the young blonde manager always had a beautiful smile while serving us. Definitely recommend 10/10

Really enjoyed this. You can wander through the gardens. There are a lot of fairy/elf gardens. Then hit the shop up for their products, before relaxing in the cafe.

Asian restaurant
Yeda Restaurant is a delightful culinary destination where you can embark on an Asian flavor journey without leaving New Zealand. Specializing in grilled dishes and all-day dim sum, Yeda artfully combines traditional tastes from various Asian countries with local ingredients. The menu features a variety of shareable plates, including Korean kimchi pork, Chinese Pork & Chive dumplings, and Indonesian nasi goreng. Guests can also enjoy refreshing Japanese sake or unique mocktails to complement their meals.
Absolutely loved our lunch at Yeda in Palmerston North! The service was 10/10 super friendly and attentive. The open kitchen was such a cool touch, it was so fun watching the chefs cook (especially when you could see the fire!). Me and my partner ordered the crispy pork, spicy squid, duck breast, and chicken avocado sushi, and everything hit the spot. The crispy pork was nicely seasoned just a little more cooked/dry than I would’ve liked but still tasty. The sushi was delicious and perfectly done, the squid was fresh and came with a really nice sauce, and the duck was the absolute highlight! We were skeptical at first because the skin wasn’t crispy, but it ended up being amazing so tender and beautifully paired with bok choy. There’s such a great range of options on the menu, and prices are pretty reasonable too (around $85 for everything we ordered). Definitely recommend and can’t wait to come back!

We (2) recently visited Yeda for lunch & got a few side dishes so we could have a bit of everything The place is spacious, great for groups or just a simple lunch or dinner date The food was nice & tasty as expected We received complimentary Miso on arrival We ordered Sweet n sour pork (changed the rice to noodles extra $3) Spring rolls, Sushi, takoyaki, teriyaki chicken w rice & My favorite out of the dishes was the Pork Gyoza Service was fast and waitress staff was attentive however taking plates from our table while we’re still eating and could clearly see there was still food in our plates to be eaten is quite rude & a big No from me! I get it if we’d finished what we were eating, it was almost like they wanted you in & out that’s the vibe I was getting, yet the place wasn’t packed. We will come back in future, let’s hope the waitress staff take this feedback on

A friend recommended we visit Yeda, I'm glad we took up the recommendation. Wife & I chose the $15 lunch deal - starter & a main plus a miso soup. The food was very good 👍 The service was great 👍 There are so many options on the menu, but you can't help but think another visit is on the card's surely.

I love going to Yeda! The menu is fantastic and really accommodates all dietary requirements, which is such a bonus. The portions are huge for the price, and everything is so tasty. I always get the peanut satay noodle soup (so good!) and my partner goes for the tom yum fried rice. It can get a little loud at times, but the atmosphere and vibe are great. We come here often because the food and service are consistently good. I did have one awkward dining experience in the past that left me feeling a bit let down, but I emailed the manager and they were incredibly kind and responsive. They apologised, offered compensation, and really took the feedback on board. That kind of openness and willingness to improve makes me happy to keep coming back.

Had lunch. We had sizzling chicken /‘d beef sizzling. 21$ each with rice and the food was worth the value. Service was a little interesting but all good. Certainly recommended.. ===== Visited again multiple times 2024. Food quality has improved with acceptable prices. (Plus halal) Had chicken 23$/ szilling 23.5$ / dumpling 10$ -3 pieces/ sushi 21 and other dishes. Certainly recommended.

Food very good. We had the sizzling beef and one of the duck dishes. $8.50 for a small portion of rice though. Seating isn't that comfortable and when we went, a few child diners as well (so if you don't like kids, beware).

I come here often and the food is always Delicious! Great prices, they’re fast at cooking so you don’t have to wait long for the food. The sushi and sweet and sour pork is definitely one of my favourites and the Ice Chocolates amazing too. I definitely recommend booking a table because they often get busy.

Absolutely outstanding food. We got takeaways and we were so impressed with everything from Yeda. The online menu had our mouths watering. Actually dribbling. Lol. The selection is amazing. The list of dishes just kept scrolling to more and more delicious looking meals. The food was ready so quickly, it was crazy. Every dish was perfect. I don't mean good. Perfect! We ordered way to much food but couldn't stop eating it. The cost of all that outstanding food was under $70.00 Thats 7 different dishes and separated rise. 10/10 ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Highly recommend. We will be back every time we are in Palmerston North.

We recently held a large birthday event at Flavour and were so impressed by the service. Nothing was a hassle, the booking (which was quite last minute) was super easy and contact with the manager was super prompt, they worked around us to make it stress free. The food options they offered were amazing. We went with a range of platters which were full of variety, served beautifully and absolutely delicious. Our guests were super happy. The manager and bar staff were absolutely amazing and took care of anything we needed and checked in on us throughout the night. Lots of our guests also commented on the amazing cocktails. We absolutely will hold more events here. Thank you all so much!

We got 2 orders of egg Benedict’s and kids hotcakes. The staff where friendly and nice especially the tall girl with dark hair who took out orders back. Received both plates off eggs bene with raw eggs. Yes everyone loves a runny egg for there bene but not when all the white is uncooked as well the staff took it back to the chef who pulled a face of disgust at us then proceeded to remake which took 25mins just for us to receive hard boiled eggs instead. Great place of your stopping for a ice cream, would strongly recommend avoiding ordering from the menu. We ate what we got and left, won’t be back.

We will absolutely be recommending Flavour as a venue! They catered to our needs and ensured we had an awesome night. Thank you Flavour!

Great fast service, food was yummy and reasonably priced. Clean, tidy and great variety of options. Parking tricky but it's a great location... Totally recommend a lunch or brunch here... Coffee was really good too! 😁

$9.50 coffee Frappe. That took nearly half an hour to come out. Went straight in the bin what a waste of time and money! FYI it's a 4 min drive from the shop to my house. 1st photo the min i got home 2nd photo 2 minuets later. Yuck.

Although they made a mistake with the service (order fell through the system), they did not fail to compensate! Staff were super friendly and approachable, and admitted to their mistake and sincerely apologized. Food was absolutely delicious, their open chicken sandwhich was perfectly cooked and seasoned, along with their beautiful steak, 10/10! Then, their Belgium waffle was phenomenal, I can't stop talking about it! Overall, well done Flavour!

Izakaya restaurant
Yatai Japanese Izakaya Restaurant is a hidden gem just minutes away from downtown Palmerston North. The restaurant offers a fantastic dining experience with delicious and fresh food, an extensive selection of drinks, and friendly and efficient staff. It's a great place for a family dinner, offering outstanding Japanese shared dishes and varied desserts perfect for sharing. While some find it expensive with small portions, the delicious food makes it worth the price.
A fabulous place for a family dinner, service was great and the food was outstanding. The flavours all worked really well. The style of Japanese shared dishes was really nice and added to the vibe of the restaurant. The varied desserts were nice and the portions were perfect for sharing.

This is the best scallop dish we have in NZ. And the grilled beef is juice and good. But we waste more than one and half hour to wait my food, it seems so crazy. Just like other clients said, food is fantastic, but...
Carol L — Google review
This is a Nice Japanese restaurant. And their best dish is sashimi. Rests of them are ok. I had their set serving for one person 46$. This included sashimi (the server wasn’t knowledgeable of the fish except the salmon.) (16$) 4piece of tuna + 3 pieces of another fish and 2 of salmon. The Second dish GESO AGE. was fried squid tentacles and this was nothing to write about. (14$) The last dish was KUSHIAGE. Fried chicken + beef + mushroom skewer (4$) each . Minimum 4 skewers. This ok. Mushroom was prolly the best. Lastly, as I wasn’t even really half full; I had the KIMUCHI PRAWNS. This was ok too. Half dish (13.50$) . Try some other dishes. Dumplings might be good.. Overall 3 for the food. However the serving size were small. Certainly recommended but expensive.
Ahsan S — Google review
Cosy restaurant but the way tableswere arranged made it look a little crowded. The waiter was informative, friendly and attentive. The food however was average. Beef Tataki was ok, nothing special; Chicken Kimuchi Stir-fry only has a handful of 2cm long chicken pieces in it; Grilled Squid was tender but has no flavour (could be better if its accompanied with a more authentic Japanese sauce rather than mayo); Renkon salad was nice and light, but very small, does not worth $15. Overall, not worth the money.

Fast food restaurant
Carl's Jr. Palmerston North is a delightful fast-food haven that truly excels in delivering mouthwatering meals. Known for their towering burgers and diverse meal combos, this spot has mastered the art of crafting juicy, flavorful patties that leave diners craving more. The staff adds a personal touch with cheerful notes on takeout bags, enhancing the overall experience with their friendly demeanor. The Double Western Large Combo is a fan favorite here, consistently served fresh and bursting with flavor.
As always, Carls Jr is quick to serve its food. Especially impressive during the dinnertime crunch. Much better than McDonald's or KFC times for fast food in-store. Food is always nice to eat and no messed up orders! They've been consistent with the quality of the final product and I've not had a bad burger.
Dion M — Google review
Higher price point than competitors' for similar quality fast food. The dining area needed more attention to details with cleaning. However, this is arguably normal for this style of fast food place. The quality of food has degraded since first opening in Palmerston north. Drive thru available, plenty of parking, limited seated areas inside. Drink refill station available with free refills.
Noel J — Google review
Horrible customer service. The server needs a refresher training course on how to serve their customer - she literally dropped our tray on the table right in front of our face. 🙄 The food was okay but the atmosphere of the place is a little too cold for our liking.
Dina M — Google review
The food here is incredible, and the customer service is excellent! They are quick and efficient with their orders.
Zorixn — Google review
Marvelous burgers! Forget McDonald's, forget Burger King. This is the place for you! You can get any type of burger here. Even the chips are great! They also give you little holders so the burger doesn't go anywhere except in your mouth! The atmosphere is bright and happy, and the staff are all happy to get you anything you want. Thank you to all the staff for making it such a good experience!
Ramon R — Google review
The lady that served me was so lovely. Blonde woman with glasses. Can't remember the burger but it had onion rings and was pretty good. Atmosphere sucks everywhere, I'm an introvert. Give us private booths! 😊
Jazmine R — Google review
The tall guy with tattoos who just served me was a perfect example of customer care. Many customer service businesses could learn from him. He engaged with me. He "saved" me money by upgrading me to a combo. I was very impressed and left smiling.
Dave D — Google review
First time having Carl junior and I must say what a total disappointment. We got our food home the chips where cold and soggy, we are literally only 5mins away, the order was wrong, the burger was also cold and tasteless and my partner has got a really bad tummy ache and doesn't feel well after eating his food. Neither one of us even finished any of the food. I don't understand what all the hype has been about to be honest. We will never go back.

I enjoyed walking this track everyday while I was in palmy during the autumn time.

I use this track often for walking/running. In general it's well maintained, with open spaces. There could be some real upgrades added but overall it's good. The bad dog owners not picking up their dogs business really lets it down.

Community center
Central Energy Trust Wildbase Recovery is a wildlife recovery center located at Massey University's Wildbase Hospital. The center aims to provide shelter and top-notch care for native wildlife, particularly birds, that have been treated at the hospital. Visitors can explore the walk-through aviary and meet permanent residents like Maya and Tane, two playful kakas. The center not only houses an ongoing breeding program but also serves as a hospital for birds with complex injuries and illnesses.
Great to see the work the trust is doing to protect native wildlife in NZ. We saw a Kakareki (green parrot), 2 Kaka, Wood Pigeon, Koromeko, and a Tuatara. We were inside the enclosure so there was no netting between 'us and them'. Lovely to see the 3 week old native ducklings, that will add to the less than 2500 that exist in the wild. Well done to all the volunteers.
Graham F — Google review
Great Initiative with highly motivated volunteers. Quite many birds had recovered and could be released, but it means that there is less to see.

Fantastic to visit again after a few months. New walkway installed which seems to be made out of recycled tyres. Soft to walk on (soothing for your feet) yet more importantly quiet for recovering wildlife.

Such an amazing place. They have an animal hospital here. They take in injured animals and nurse them back to health and then release them back into the wild. They also have a walkthrough aviary that houses tuatara and a variety of native birds and two breeding aviaries for the endangered whio (blue duck) and pāteke (brown teal). They also have a treatment room for wildlife care, and the interactive Powerco Education Centre which is fantastic for learning for both kids and adults alike. Its all absolutely free as well. Amazing place! Would definitely recommend having a look.

"Tini whetu ki te rangi ko Rangitane nui ki te whenua" is a captivating destination that invites you to explore the rich history of the Rangitane people, who originally inhabited the lush south bank of the Manawatu River. This area, known for its fertile floodplain, was once dotted with small villages where Maori settlers cultivated kumara and thrived in harmony with nature. While many settlements likely existed, Mokomoko stands out as a recorded village from this vibrant past.

First time visit...found carpark was a bit awkward to get in from the main road as most of the spaces were taken up to which people had parked taking more space than they required...tracks could do with some maintenance and better signage put in place, hence I got lost at one stage...keen to give the walking trail another go at some point though ...

One of my favourite parks in Palmerston North, beautiful walks beside the Turitea stream, there are even a couple of good spots for a swim (conditions permitting). Service staff were very friendly but they weren’t really around for us to get their attention as we were seated upstairs when the restaurant was almost empty. Food took slightly longer to be served but it was expected of a large group. Some of the meals were great such as the beef salad and fish and chips. Others were a miss, such as the creamy pasta dish and sweet potato soup.

Went here on a Wednesday for an end of year work function. Since work was paying, I can't comment on the prices. My meal was exactly as I requested which was nice, and it was cooked perfectly. The steak was very nice, and I really enjoyed the starters. There was a good selection of drinks, and the service was to a good standard - our waitress was very pleasant and accommodating to our diverse group. Would recommend

Great food and service tonight. The garlic bread was yummy and the lamb rump was cooked to perfection. My friend had the pasta and loved it as well. The only downside was the cheese on the wedges being over cooked. Will definitely be returning though.
Penny C — Google review
Really good staff, good location, entrees were really nice, nice house wine, my steak was very good (had to be for the price), my partners salmon was average, nothing we wanted on the desert menu. Downside, we were a couple in an empty restaurant trying to have a romantic night and then had a family of 6 seated right next to us, no other dinners around for the whole time there. So food was very good to ok, staff excellent, bit of thinking required for seating, quite pricey.
James K — Google review
Went with a group for lunch - it was a nice surprise to discover their upstairs space which had a nice view out over the Square. I ordered the vegan salad even though I'm not a vegan - wanted something healthy and interesting. And the gamble paid off - it was a generous serving and not all salad leaves like some places put up. Roasted nuts, artichokes! Very satisfied and recommended.

Hands Down - THE BEST COFFEE IN PALMY 🫶🏽 I believe the owner blends/roasts his own beans and the taste is impeccable. The service is always friendly, open and inviting. Although the menu isn't large, they have the traditional muffins, slices, biscuits and porridge with savoury bagels either sweet or savoury. The owner is a lovely human being and down to earth. Great coffee. I'll generally get a small flat white, and it's always strong and hot. At $4 it's a reasonable price. They don't advertise their bagels, but they would be the best lunch option in Palmy. $7.5 for a freshly made salmon bagel is a bargain.

First time visiting this store because I had a really bad experience at there other store. Well the experience was way better but still was terrible. I was going to eat in but every single table was filthy so took my burger & shake home to eat. I get it that stores have staffing problems but there were 1 x couple dining in & myself in the store. The upstairs dining area was closed so everything was contained to the small downstairs dining area so absolutely no excuses it was just run by staff who weren't doing a good enough job that you would expect especially since I'd had an even worse experience at there other store.

I don't go to Burger King for the prices, I go because I know my self worth. When I opened my meal and found the fries box just chucked in upside down I thought "I deserve this".

Really nice woman serving (much nicer than a machine!) Food is always the same. Good for 20% Gold Card discount.
Pete S — Google review
I sat at the only clean-ish table waiting for my partner to go to the bathroom. Just from sitting there I decided we weren't going to eat there. There was Rubbish all over the floor and everything was sticky. There were screaming children but that's not BKs fault. No surprises my partner said the bathroom was just as bad with toilet paper all over the floor. Only came here because I wanted to sit upstairs but it was blocked off. Never coming back.
