Garden
Rockhampton Botanic Gardens is a serene and enduring botanical park located just south of town. It offers a variety of attractions including a zoo, a Japanese garden, and a picturesque lake surrounded by tropical and subtropical rainforest. The well-kept zoo houses koalas, wombats, dingoes, monkeys, and features a walk-through aviary. Visitors can also explore the formal Japanese garden for tranquility or enjoy the diverse plant collections throughout the gardens.
Myself, 2 daughters, son-inlaw and my 2 grandchildren (2&3) chose Rockhampton as our meeting place for Christmas this year and we took a trip to the Botanical Gardens. We all loved the ZOO section which was an absolute credit to those who run the gardens. We pretty much spent the whole day there. There are so many spots for families to wander around with wide open spaces for the toddlers, and a great playground for the kids a lake where there are ducks and turtles to amuse the children, the display of different gardens such as the beautiful Japanese garden, and the indoor nursery with ferns, elks, stags and numerous other plant species. It's just a wonderful area of Rocky that caters to a wide variety of ages. And a fantastic Cafe to also cater to the public of varying ages. Was a fantastic day.
Shelly K — Google review
Went for a walk after seeing the zoo. Lovely gardens (we didn’t see every section but enjoyed what we saw). The Japanese section was lovely. Next time I’d bring a picnic - plenty of spaces to unwind and there was a nice looking kids playground with undercover BBQ’s.
Hannah L — Google review
Well worth taking a stroll through the many different areas these gardens have to offer. Parking can be difficult to find, but if you drive down towards the lagoon it's not so busy there. Japanese Gardens were under maintenance, so didn't get to enjoy them. Combine these Botanical Gardens with the zoo next-door and you can have a relaxing enjoyable day!
Kelvin J — Google review
Wow the playground is incredible! It gets raked and cleaned every day so it was tidy when we arrived in the morning! All gardens were spectacular, very clean tidy and green! Lots of love and work goes into the garden and you can tell!
Emily P — Google review
Visited May 2025 The gardens are quite large. Being May there weren't many flowers in bloom making it a little visually boring . The plants around the floral clock needed a trim because you couldn't see it. I love Japanese gardens but I found this one without the wow factor. The banyan figs around the tea rooms provide lots of shade and are beautiful. Food is quite good from the tea rooms I had zucchini fritters with a small salad and my husband had the eggs benedict on a bed of bacon which he said was delicious. The blue eye honeyeaters and rainbow lorikeets jump on the tables wanting to be fed, you can almost touch them. There is a childrens playground not far from tea rooms but not close enough to keep an eye on your kids. Down at Murrays Lagoon many water birds along the banks and looking in the water from the wetland lookout are so many river turtles popping up looking for a feed. I would have liked to see information boards explaining the different gardens. The gardens are 33hectares which I googled is around 46 soccer fields (for those who need a comparison, as I did!) so plenty of room for riding a bike or a long walk. I'd like to think it is more appealing in spring. But none the less a good walk and a tea rooms a lovely place for a cuppa. Overall underwhelming.
Gina P — Google review
Lovely place to have a walk/run. Plenty to see from plants, turtles down a murray lagoon. Large play park for the kids. Even coffee shop. Plenty toliets and park for all.
Kirsty C — Google review
Great zoo and gardens. We needed more time than we had to fully explore the extensive gardens.

Zoo
Rockhampton Zoo is such a hidden gem! It’s a great place to visit for all ages, with a surprisingly good variety of animals and a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. The enclosures are well maintained, and the animals all looked healthy and happy. Highlights for me were the chimpanzees and the meerkats — so entertaining to watch! The zoo is also free entry, which is amazing, especially considering the quality of the experience. It’s located right next to the beautiful Botanic Gardens, so you can make a full day of it. The staff were friendly and informative, and it’s clear they really care about the animals. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Rockhampton or passing through!
Perfect B — Google review
Very cute zoo! It's amazing that it's free. Such a neat little place. There isn't a ton of animals but the ones that are there look very well cared for and the talks are amazing. Such a great place to take the kids. Probably an hour or 1.5hra is enough to see it.. maybe 2hrs if you have a Picnic by the beautiful surrounds.
Ana A — Google review
This place is amazing! It’s free entry and not overcrowded. Meerkats, exotic birds, an orangutang family that actually looks happy, crocs, emus, reptiles, Roos, koalas and MEERKATS! They do tours around the whole zoo, and for a very reasonable price you can have a closer look at the meerkats. The pathways are clean and the foliage is thick, gorgeous and well kept. Plus there’s a little cafe at the botanical gardens just a small walk outside the entrance, a great playground a little further and at the entrance of the zoo, the bathroom facilities are unusually clean, and actually smell nice! We go to the zoo every time we go to Rocky. It’s one of our favourite stop offs while we’re there.
Chrissy S — Google review
A Wonderful Free Attraction in Rockhampton! We visited Rockhampton Zoo and absolutely loved it! It’s amazing that entry is free, and the entire place is beautifully maintained. The animals all looked healthy and well cared for. The chimpanzees were definitely our favourite — so entertaining to watch! We also enjoyed seeing the emus, kangaroos, koalas, crocodiles, and many other animals. It’s a perfect spot for families or anyone wanting a relaxing day surrounded by nature and wildlife. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in Rockhampton!
Narayana A — Google review
A 100 years old zoo in rocky in 2025. It’s a free entry zoo and great place to visit. Love the keepers talks and animals feeding. It’s about 30-45 minutes to visit the zoo and connected to the Rockhampton botanic garden. • bring your own food and drink • toilet available in the zoo
MeiFang ( — Google review
The recent opening of the new entrance to the zoo looks great. New pathways, sculptures, snake exhibits, toilets and education room. It will be good to see the rest of the zoo when it is updated as well. There are still multiple enclosures that remain empty. The highlights are the Meercats, you can get up close and see them. The crocodile talk given while feeding them was really informative. The Rockhampton Zoo is free to enter and has the potential to be developed further. Perhaps patrons would agree to a small entry price to support the costs and replace the missing animals and allow for additional animals, a Zoo shop and cafe on site.
Louise T — Google review
Incredibly clean enclosures, foot paths and facilities. Great shade. Some enclosures were getting renovated but still clean and tidy. Great viewing facilities- lots of areas to be able to look into enclosures. It’s free to attend! Kids loved it!
Emily P — Google review
This is a totally free zoo. No cost at all which I thought was fantastic! 😊 It's a great day out because it's right next to the botanical gardens which is beautiful. Some parts of the zoo were being renovated as was the toilet facilities, which meant you need to walk over to where the kiosk is in the botanical gardens. Still a great outing for anyone wanting to explore Rockhampton. 😊

Coffee Society Rockhampton is a popular spot for coffee enthusiasts and foodies alike. Located on the main street in Rocky, it offers a unique breakfast and brunch menu featuring dishes like breakfast gnocchi and Boston beans. The cafe is known for its fantastic coffee, mouthwatering food, and reasonable prices. With vegan options available, patrons can enjoy smooth coffee, fresh breakfast items, and a variety of lunch choices.
Top place to enjoy a meal. Coffee was great, as well as the food. Fast service, good atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Kelvin J — Google review
Service was very quick but the food itself anything special. We ordered the eggs Benedict and the Turkish eggs. Hollandaise sauce came out a bit sour (almost like too much vinegar) but they are very generous with the amount of sauce they gave. The poached eggs were a little too overdone so the yolk wasn’t as creamy. Love the chewy texture of the pita bread from the Turkish eggs and the combination was pretty good. We also tried the iced white chocolate mocha, milo mocha and matcha latte. Highly recommend their coffee and you can still taste the coffee through the flavour, very subtle but it gives a perfect mix. The white chocolate mocha and matcha latte might be a little too sweet for some.
Scarlett — Google review
Haven’t been here in ages, and the food was amazing. I don’t drink coffee but the tea was spot on, if there is such a thing as bad tea? The siracha eggs benny, what a combo! I just wish I took a pic before I started eating it!

Disappointing unfortunately. Eggs undercooked and far too much sauce, normally places don't add enough this one went the other way. Coffee was average

I called in for breakfast this morning. Just wanted poached eggs, toast and coffee. Sometimes expectations are exceeded! The brew was strong and hot.... exactly as I like it. Continuing on the trend, breakfast arrived nicely plated and eggs cooked to perfection. Pleasant staff and ambience. If I lived locally I'd make this a regular spot. I need another of those great coffees!!

My husband and I had breakfast at the Goat Cafe and it was incredible! The food is delicious, brought out quickly and is always nice and hot. The coffee is delicious, it just tastes great and stays nice and hot while we eat. Definitely a 10/10 for food, coffee and service. I had the small breakfast, add a sausage and a caramel latte. I also think the menu is reasonably priced for any budget. Thanks team!

Had a great lunch here yesterday. Mushroom risotto was delicious and great size serving . All our meals were very good . Pancakes were light and fluffy . Exotic mushrooms were good. Drinks were freshly made - iced tea and mango smoothie . Great coffee. Hubby had 2 . Friendly staff . Well worth a visit

Arrived in Rocky for work...was recommended to try Cafe Bliss for their breakfast & coffee! Amazing staff so warm and friendly.....the food fresh and great serving sizes and the coffee....delicious! Perfect temperature. Highly recommended for breakfast after a long flight to start your day right!

Ordered All day big breakfast, comes with crispy bacon of beef and pork, goes very well with the choice of scrambled egg. The cheese sausage is delicious, lightly charred from the pan. The haloumi is nice and the cheese and mushrooms are nice with some salty things. The slow roasted tomato is also very juicy. The hash browns and smokehouse beans. Toasted with sourdough, the beans is a great addition to the meal!

Don't be deceived by a hotelish-tiled looks. It's not one of those run off the mill breakfast place. Staff friendly and professional. Smiles all around, but without that overly sugary aftertaste. Thank you You start with the menu, which is carefully handmade! Décor is different in every set. That's just a wow. Portions are more than generous for a very reasonable price. Had a bagel, breakfast noodles and pancakes - everything was delicious and served well. If you are in Rocky - must go for a breakfast! Best of luck!

Bliss by Night was a pleasant experience. With a warm feel, yet upbeat and modern at the same time. Tables were well set, and not over crowded, plenty of room for drinks and whatever else you decide to. Indulge in. Cocktails were pretty good, at an affordable price, they tasted great and were appealing to the eye, having photos of each cocktail on the menu was a pleasant surprise that my wife found helpful. Service was prompt and polite. Water was topped up and we did not have to ask for refills, service was very attentive to each table and attentive to detail. The waitress was very helpful in choosing from some of the delicious tapas. The tapas were brought out within 5 minutes of ordering and was presented well. The mains were fantastic, full of flavour, presented with pride, cooked with passion. I have no complaints. Look forward to returning to try other options on the menu. Prices were modest, I've paid more for less. Stop putting it off, Bliss by Night us a must do!

I went to East Street Buffet with a friend for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, while the food surpassed my expectations. Despite the affordable price of $19.9 per person, it turned out to be a great value with its fresh and flavorsome buffet options. This Chinese restaurant offers an extensive selection at an unbeatable price, particularly for children. The staff members were efficient in serving drinks and overall assistance.
This is the best buffet you can find along East street, there is 2 large stations with plenty of selections of food. The stir fry chicken is delicious, savoury and well prepared. The fried rice is also clean and seasoned. Honey chicken is a staple which cannot be missed out. There is also corn soup which is a pleasant surprise. Coffee, tea and table water is free along with the buffet.

This evening my family and i had dinner at east street buffet. 3 adults and 2 children. $24.90 per adult and the children's age plus $2 is what we expected to pay for the ALL YOU CAN EAT BUFFET. There was half of a small container left over on our plates and the poor waitress had to be the middle man and deliver the bad news that we would be charged $10 for not eating it as it’s considered waste. We asked if we could take it home so therefor it wouldn't be wasted but then we were also charged for the cost of the takeaway container, $12.90, even though we already paid as it was included in the buffet. DEFINITELY WONT BE GOING BACK!!!
Kjaned12 D — Google review
Good price for an all you can eat; the dishes were quite similar (so not much variety) but all very good. Still would love to go back when I crave for Chinese cuisine.

Malaysian restaurant
Malaysia House, located on Bolsover Street, offers a delightful array of authentic Malaysian dishes such as laksa, satay chicken skewers, and nasi goreng. The restaurant's ambiance is described as bright and somewhat sterile with loud surroundings that could benefit from some music and dimmed lighting. While the service received mixed reviews, the food was praised for its delicious flavors and quick delivery.
Service was great, food came out quickly and was tasty. We will definitely be coming again. I got some dish that sounded like the word "Calendar" and chose the chicken option, and it was very nice, cost around $30 and rice was extra.

We went for dinner last week. Order the deep fried dim sum, Rainbow Beef, Roti bread plus drinks. The drinks came out quickly and the Roti bread showed up soon afterwards to our surprise but the sauce was spilt over the plate and bread. For $6 (from memory) for a small piece of Roti bread I couldn't say this was good value. About 15 mins latter the main meal showed up and didn't look anything like the picture. Also tasted and looked like a curry but couldn't see any one to make an enquiry. The beef was tough and chewy. And just as we were about to finish our meal the dim sum arrived, dropped on the table and the waitress disappeared. No chance of getting a second drink. Not impressed. And when we got the bill it was indeed Randang Curry. At least the meal was cheap.
Rodney A — Google review
Loved the food. Service was not fast or attentive, but they seemed busy in their defense. We sat upstairs and my asthmatic wife had to endure someone smoking cigarettes outside. The doors of the restaurant allow the smoke to come inside. We had to request to be moved to another area mid meal. The food was great, but I doubt we will be back.

Had flown from mackay to Brisbane, travelled to gold coast picked up a car and returning to mackay. Extremely tired, wanted quick and easy. Had satay chicken, coconut rice and BBQ pork in plum sauce. All very tasty. Quick service. A little expensive but that's eating out nowadays. Hard to justify $10.80 for a large steamed rice with a bit of toasted count thrown in...

We are in Rockhampton visiting for the week for work. This place was outstanding. Definitely the best place we've eaten in Rockhampton! The value for money was good. The service was great. The staff was so kind. Food came out in like less than 10 minutes. Highly recommend the rending curry coconut rice roti in particular! Considering coming back later in the week!

I ordered the ‘chicken’ and I say ‘chicken’ very loosely! It was the processed meat you would feed to your dog ( I wouldn’t because I love my dog but I’m sure others would). Just gross so you should give this place a miss. I did think the laksa soup had a nice taste to it, as long as you could avoid the dog food… I have just come from Darwin, the Laksa capital so I know a good laksa!

The Riverside Restaurant is located along the picturesque banks of the Fitzroy River, offering a lively atmosphere with numerous cafes, bars, and restaurants. It's an ideal spot for accommodation and leisurely walks by the iconic Rockhampton Botanic Gardens. The restaurant provides full table service and boasts a chef with 20 years of experience who prepares delectable dishes such as eye fillet steak and special pasta with slipper lobster. The prices are fair, reflecting the quality of dining experience offered.
Wow, the food was so delicious and the dessert was so perfectly made, so soft . I have visited many times in Rocky and this was my first time in this restaurant, God, everything about the food and the staff was amazing. Whenever we visit Rocky, we always make it a point to dine here because the food is consistently delicious. We especially enjoy their Japanese food selection, everything we’ve tried has been excellent. Their breakfast buffet is also a favorite of ours, it’s generous, flavorful, and definitely worth the money. And I absolutely love their Amaretto Sour; it’s one of the best!

Would almost be 5 stars. Service was amazing - the staff were very attentive and always available. The food was very tasty - we ordered the grilled octopus entree (highly recommend), seafood fried rice (very yummy and good value as it had more seafood than rice!) and beef short ribs. The portion sizes were so good we had no room left for dessert! The reason it’s only receiving 4 stars is the spinach that came with our beef short rib dish was inedibly salty.

The food here is excellent… I/we recommend the roasted Chicken breast and roast pumpkin as a side. I tend to only review places I/we like and vote with our feet if the experience is bad. It is a hotel restaurant that doubles as a buffet breakfast venue in the morning and as such it is noisy… service is okay but some nights they might be a bit under staffed

Steak house
Ribs and Rumps is an Australian steakhouse chain known for its gourmet burgers, char-grilled steaks, and Australia's ultimate ribs experience. Located beneath the Empire Apartment Hotel, it offers a relaxed and casual atmosphere with something for everyone, including non-meat eaters. The menu features thoughtfully sourced produce and gluten-free options upon request. Customers rave about the perfectly cooked cuts of meat, flavorful ribs, and delicious cocktails.
My husband and I really enjoyed our meal and drinks. We only ordered a main and didn't have to wait very long at all. Our food was cooked to our liking and it was nice and hot. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Leeanne A — Google review
Steaks were hit or miss, medium rare came out as medium for 3 dishes. 3 steaks were fatty. Mash potato tasted like packet potato. Garlic bread was oily but good.

I’ve never had such a low-quality experience in Rocky. Bad taste, bad cooking—truly disappointing, especially in the most famous restaurant in town. The new management really needs to take this seriously. For the first time in my life, I left this much food on my plate—on Valentine’s night.
AMIRSALEH J — Google review
We were sat outside on the riverside which was nice however it got very windy very quickly and things started to blow over. But there was no space inside to switch too. Our food was served quickly even though it was busy and my steak (400g Sirloin) was cooked to perfection. My partner had a Chicken breast dish and that was very tasty too. Overall a very good experience from the venue, staff and the food itself.

Very trendy place with good seating arrangements. Big bar and good menu. The waiters couldn't vouch for the ribs and rumps so I went for chicken ribs and onion rings. The chicken was lovely and the rings were outstanding! The service is immature, don't know what Tobacco sauce is, forgot to bring the remainder of my order, they charge me 3$ for sauce so be careful when paying. Nothing can't be solved with some proper training 😎

This was not to bad, I ordered the big pork ribs. On reflection it was way too much. But the the ribs just fell off the bone, they were very good. Chips were nice with their flavouring. The coleslaw I did not eat I thought it tasted funny. But I would definitely return again for ribs next time I am in Rocky.

We booked for 6pm and were seated .... had to ask for a drinks menu and for water. We ordered a cheese garlic loaf to start Was lovely Ordered 3 cocktails .... very weak, and not well crafted at $19- a cocktail Premium pork ribs delicious meat but glaze fairly tasteless and not much of it. Small serve of coleslaw and the creamy mashed potato tasted like Deb, sorry to say. Eye fillet was not super tender and again small serve of slaw and Deb tasting potato Wagyu schnitzel great and large, veges ok and Deb again Desserts were good, Brûlée delicious Stick date puddings nice, but icecream tasted like Coles icecream. For the price and the hype about great beef and ribs, I would say this restaurant needs to lift its game in these areas mentioned
Karen H — Google review
Staff were lovely. The drinks were amazing (the best part). But the food was a bit of a letdown. Pork ribs were so fatty more fat than meat and hardly any sauce on the ribs. The second meal was ok, but again, hardly any sauce on the beef ribs, the coleslaw on the side was awful. And potato mash was dry.

Day 2

South side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the south side side of town. Start the day off with Kershaw Gardens, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to 2nd World War Memorial Aquatic Centre (South Side Pool). All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

This place is amazing!!! We came in a motorhome and stayed for the night, then checked out the playground in the morning- both toddler and husband LOVED it! Honestly one of the best playgrounds we’ve ever been to! Lots to do for all ages and abilities. Toilets and plenty of shaded picnic tables and benches nearby. We didn’t get to the waterfall unfortunately but drove past it- it looks lovely!!

We wanted to enjoy a gentle walk and good company, and chose Kershaw Gardens, which delivered nicely. There is a good selection of pathways, trees and shrubs to create a peaceful ambiance. For those with kids, there is a great recreation park. Toilets are available in the central area.

I’m at this park all the time as it’s close to home. Great walking tracks and bicycle tracks. In summer the mozzies are out of control and I have fled a few times because of them. Not a lot of new plants that I can see but I am pleased that they have finally cleaned up some of the water weed as I couldn’t even see where the creek ran a few months ago.

Council has done a wonderful job with the update of the camping area. Pity some people can't read the signs. Rear parking, 48hrs and no tents!

A visit to the Kershaw Gardens is very worthwhile. It provides recreational opportunities for all people and interests. There is a good botanical collection of native plants; birdwatching; a large playground to challenge toddlers and primary school kids; quite areas meet, picnic or meditate. I really enjoyed my visit during my recent holiday. Plenty of parking. John.

True Hero – Exceptional Security Officer! I want to express my deepest gratitude and admiration for the incredible bravery shown by an punjabi indian guy at northside plaza. In a moment of crisis, this officer stepped in without hesitation, saving not only someone’s groceries from being stolen but also assisting a police officer in a very critical situation. Their quick thinking, courage, and dedication to duty went far beyond expectations. It’s rare to see someone act so selflessly and professionally under pressure. The community is truly lucky to have someone like him on the ground, looking out for everyone’s safety and well-being. This kind of heroism deserves to be recognised and celebrated. Thank you for your outstanding service — you’re a real asset to the community!

First of all the only good shops are the cafe, the boba place and Wendy's, so this review is no way a reflection on these shops. This shopping centre is just eww, the atmosphere, the type of people that frequent it, the constant feeling of being unsafe here, its just got crappy vibes. So many aggressive people here that we try to avoid it where possible. Don't recommend at all.
Raven S — Google review
Need more security around the plaza. Only one security to help out a violent incident a week or 2 ago. Unfair on that security considering he could have gotten severely hurt during the incident.

Farmers' market
Located in Rockhampton, Doblo's Farmers Market offers a daily opportunity to explore a vibrant and bustling local market. Unlike traditional weekend pop-up markets, this market operates every day and provides an excellent selection of fresh produce. With a lively atmosphere, it attracts both locals and visitors alike. Customers can find great deals on high-quality ingredients and enjoy preparing delicious meals with their purchases. The wide variety of fruits and vegetables available may present an exciting opportunity to discover new flavors.
I’ve been here twice now to arrange flowers for my elopement and I have to say the range of florals they have to choose from is just amazing, the food options as well, their pricing is great for both, presentation wise the shop is clean, tidy and well kept and the lastly the staff are all so lovely, welcoming and kind. I ordered last minute and made a last minute change upon pickup and the girls were so accommodating and kind. Love this shop and will definitely be returning for future food and floral needs 10/10 Picture includes the bouquet the girls did up for me 👇

🥦 Doblo’s Farmers Market – Rockhampton Oh my gosh, I can’t believe I’ve been here for almost three months and only just discovered this place! It’s honestly a paradise for anyone who loves fresh veggies and fruits. They have everything — basil, mint, mixed mushrooms, mangoes, rice, and super cheap eggs (only $2.99 per pack!). The space is divided into two areas: an indoor section with air conditioning where they sell fresh produce, fruits, eggs, and plants, and an outdoor section without air conditioning where you’ll find the cashier and bigger veggies that don’t need cooling, like pumpkins, potatoes, and corn, … Compared to Coles or Woolies, I’d say the prices here are cheaper, and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. One small thing to keep in mind: if you buy products with a yellow discount sticker, make sure to remind the cashier to apply the discount at checkout. I forgot to do that once, and when I checked my bill later, a few discounted items were charged at full price 😭. It’s not a big deal — just one or two dollars each — but it did take away a bit of the excitement from an otherwise great shopping experience. Other than that, everything else is perfect! :3 This place is honestly my little heaven whenever I crave those fragrant Vietnamese herbs 🥬✨ Best place ever!
Nguyễn J — Google review
The recent renovation has given the place a better look! Lovely to have a free coffee in the morning to start with, and the place looks more organized now! Always have quality fruits and veggies. Went there for 2.99 egg and ended up buying whole lot 😂 I guess I'll be shopping there more often.

I stopped in at Doblos this morning to grab some fruit and veg and had such a lovely experience! The ladies who served me were so friendly, and they even asked one of the male staff to carry my box of groceries out to the car for me as I’m pregnant. Boathouse in Rockhampton offers a unique waterfront dining experience with stunning panoramic views of the Fitzroy River. The venue features an expansive deck that takes full advantage of the beautiful Queensland climate, allowing guests to enjoy a progressive menu filled with fresh seafood and seasonal produce. In addition to the modern and vibrant drinks menu, live music in the summer adds to the carefree, chilled-out vibes perfect for relaxing by the water.
Lovely casual restaurant right on the river. Very relaxing with a variety of table options - regular, tall and comfy loungers. Food and drinks menus also have a lot of great options. My prawn dumplings in coconut milk were 10 out of 10 perfection. My cocktail was yummy, and the soft drinks were huge. Unfortunately, my steak was overcooked. But everything else, including the friendly and accommodating staff, was excellent. Will definitely be back to try more (and get the dumplings again) next time we're in Rocky.

OK view of Fitzroy River. Steak was cooked perfectly and very tasty. A few locals were vocal below the restaurant which didn't help the atmosphere. Ignore that and it's a pretty good venue and feed.

Breakfast was amazing! From the second we walked in, service was great & food and coffee took no time at all to come out, and it all came out around the same time (4 of us ordered). The view, no matter where you are is stunning and adds to the overall atmosphere. Food was delicious, coffee was smooth and had amazing coffee art and all staff on were super lovely. Will definitely be going back more often!
Zoe W — Google review
The view at the café was beautiful, but I was extremely disappointed with the staff’s attitude. In particular, a tall male staff member—who seemed to be the manager—looked visibly uninterested in working. He was expressionless not only when taking orders but also while serving, and his unwillingness to work was clearly felt by customers. While the other staff members were not as indifferent, it’s important to recognize that one person’s attitude can negatively impact the entire team’s image. This should be taken seriously. Despite having an open kitchen, the food didn’t feel trustworthy—and to make matters worse, I found trash in my dish, which was absolutely unacceptable.😡 I will not be returning.

This is a wonderful pool with great facilities & well priced. I have very much enjoyed coming here during my 6 week placement in Rocky. I only used the 50m pool & found it to be clean, not excessively chlorinated and of a great temperature. I nearly always had a lane to myself even during peak hours & lane bookings were clearly communicated. Poppies the coffee shop is great too for a post swim coffee! Will miss this pool & the wonderful staff.

Arrived at the centre to use the heated pool at 2pm. Was told it closes at 2.30pm for cleaning. I said I needed to do post surgery exercises so I would do the 30 mins and come back tomorrow at an earlier time. I haven't been here for a year as I come from Victoria so I was surprised that there were no floating devices, weights or noodles that I could use. The water was so uncomfortably cool that I only stayed for 15 minutes. I asked the life guard about it and he said they have had trouble with the heater. I mentioned that there were only a couple of people in the pool and that was probably why. I spoke to the lady at the kiosk and she just said.... Did you report it to the life guard .... And I said yes. I hope this is rectified soon as it is a shame to have such a nice pool in the town and it not being used due to the cool temperature. ( Disabled people and the elderly need a warm wellness pool)

Instead of waiting for your meat, it is served on a board, and you can request more of a specific type if desired. While some tables didn't touch their salad or broccoli, there is an option to have additional veggies like charred eggplant or capsicum with the meat. The customer service team is highly attentive and the food itself is incredibly flavorful and satisfying.

Visiting Rockhampton. I enjoyed this whole experience much better than a lot of the usual places that people here go to. It was a Sunday night - restricted menu roast and veges $15. Big meal!!! FRESH VEGES !!! Mashed spud, zucchini, carrots, corn and lots of meat and a yummy dumpling. This is a well laid out space making conversation easy. Excellent service. Clean and fresh. Better food as it is fresh not frozen and just reheated!! Thank you to staff. Good music from the 70s n 80s too. Photos taken as soon as we arrived which was early. Comfortable seats.

As a group the choices were chicken parm or crumbed steak. The steak was very thin like processed and the serving of parm was by far too large. Would have preferred to have better sides. Getting away from the meals I whose mobility not great found the only entry and exit was down the back steps which I found very dangerous. What happens in case of emergencies does this meet workplace health and safety requirements

Awesome meal and service! Delicious meals, we had 6 different dishes and they were all excellent 😋 The vegetables were all fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. Sweet potato fries were one of the best, sweet and tasty! Gypsy gave great services, quick and efficient on the POS, offered us the dinner menu that we wanted during lunch 👍 The apple turnover was flaky too. +1 to the chefs 😃 Don’t be deceived by the outside presentation and missed the food and service at Rocky.

My first visit was a good experience, but my first thought was "Is this the same inside" as we were greeted at the door by half a dozen young people standing around blocking the entrance from the car park, all smoking and had to be asked to move aside! Once inside I was pleasantly surprised, it was cosy and had a warm feeling. My meal consisted of an Entree of Garlic bread with cheese and bacon, yum! Followed by 12 Creamy Garlic Prawns, Dessert was lemon Meringue Pie. To top off the evening we won a nice meat tray from the local raffles. I will be back!!!

I am not a fan of some foods and these were served mixed with others and not identified on the menu. Presentation was good, the Service was very good, wait staff very attentive. The Atmospher was pleasant nothing special, it would be better when the weather warms up a little to enjoy the outdoor dining. They have a great selection of cocktails 🍸. I'm sure we will head back here in the coming months.

I have thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of multiple evenings at Skyring's! The atmosphere is gorgeous; dim lighting and a charming ambience. The cocktails were absolutely top-notch (shout out to the passionfruit & lychee martinis!) The tapas menu is comprehensive and decent sized, each dish was bursting with flavor and perfectly portioned to be shared. Now, let's talk about the two stand out items on the menu - the rib eye and eye fillet steaks... oh my goodness! They were cooked to perfection (have tried rare and medium), melt in your mouth tender, and packed with flavour, the paired vegetables were wonderful, I would have liked a bit more especially with the rib eye but still an exceptional meal!!! In heaven with in every single bite. Overall, I had an incredible dining experience and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable meal

Absolutely lovely welcoming atmosphere! Wouldn’t even know you were in the middle of Rockhampton! A huge cocktail meal range and so accommodating to make custom cocktails to accommodate your needs a wide variety of meals with a stunning dessert menu (white chocolate mousse to die for) thank you to all stuff that made the start of our getaway a experience to remember

Amazing food, amazing service and ambience. Kanthan, Suja, Thushan, Vive and Shiran always have gone out of their way to make us feel welcome each time we have dined at their venue. Their kitchen staff are extremely talented and dedicated to their roles, as are front of house. Would highly recommend anyone in Rockhampton to give these guys your business.

3 🌟 to low, 4 🌟 to high. So i give it 3.5 🌟 as google dont do half stars. I ordered a cocktail, there cocktails are alazing iv been here for drinks before. Entree i oredred 6 natural oyster, these where fresh with the amazing sea flavour followed by this sweet natural taste of the oysters. Amazing . I also ordered the grilled prawns, the marination was so nice, the actual prawn was over cooked very tough. The shell was totaly stuck on the tail. One of the female waiters she has blonde hair with a accent, come over and says ill clean these plates. I said no you wont sprry im still eating. There was clearly two oysters and two prawns on the plate. she left then another waiter said do you mind if i take your plates? I said sure . Do you mind if i can have some fresh napkins? She brought back a glass with two inside the glass. Few mins later the waiter who embarresed me earlier brings a small plate with a knife and a fork and takes the napkins and the other clean knife and fork. My main comes to the table. I ordered bourban glazed salmon. The salmon was cooked to perfection however my beetroot risotto was under cooked, when you bit into it. It was crunchy and dry flaky texture. I sent it back. They made it again. The salmon wasnt as good as the forst time and the all over flavours where just not as good as the first dish. Thiw restaurant for the price your paying really needs back ground music, or someone playing the piano. They have this amzing piano juat sitting there. There is room for to refine the service .

I was greeted when I walked in by a happy gentleman advising of the beverage and drinks menu. The table service was excellent, the food was just as good. I has the 300g steak and it was cooked perfectly and was fresh. The food and beverage menu has a very good variety. I highly recommend Skyring Restaurant & Bar. Money well spent.

Sandwich shop
Captain Nemo's is a sandwich shop located in Rockhampton that offers delicious subs and salads. It is known for its convenience, friendly staff, and great-tasting food. Many people consider it to have the best salads in town. Despite being only available in Rockhampton, it has gained popularity among locals, even causing disappointment to those living in Toowoomba.
Super yummy and incredibly filling subs made by friendly staff. Recommend getting roast beef or sunshine sub and taking it over to Kershaw Gardens for a picnic.

Service is slow. Too busy talking about other stuff then getting the food out. No FIFO followed. First customer got the food last. Same gloves used for all sorts of food handeling. Food safety should be taken care better

The lady that served me she was amazing nice the place was so tidy the subs are massive i got one of them forgot the name but it was amazing full of flavor made me want another one and their shop is really nice people are so friendly really good to approach I would definitely recommend recommend 10/10 best store in Rockhampton
Hayley R — Google review
It was all great up until the rear end of it fell out into my lap. All the ingredients were held together like a slab of cement that just let go. There was too much mayo. Apart from that it was pretty tasty product was fresh from a precut bag. I think it would work better like subway. The attendants are clambering over each other and customers end up standing around instead of moving on out the door. Which what you need in a place that size. There is no where to really hang around as if you at a fish’n’chips shop from the mid 70’s. I think those little tweaks would make it really great.
Adrian T — Google review
Extremely disappointing. Ordered through Menulog. Instead of cancelling order Captain Nemo continued to take money and send wrong order I cannot eat. They should have cancelled order as they didn't have the ingredients. Then refused to do anything when I phoned and very rude. So wrong. So inconsiderate. More concerned about making money than customers.
Sandra O — Google review
Captain Nemo's northside is genuinely one of the most cleanly, friendly and welcoming businesses that I frequent. The staff and management do a wonderful job at providing amazing customer service whilst maintaining great time management when it comes to online and in person food delivery. The freshness and quality of their sourced produce is exceptional, and when you add extra mayo, everything is even better! On top of that, the value for money is great!

Well I was going to the original store when it opened. Went today up here for a few days. Monster bread roll. Expensive and lacking real taste. Very disappointed.

Pub
When in Country Queensland, a visit to the Great Western Hotel is a must. This iconic establishment, dating back to 1862, offers an old-world exterior and a lively atmosphere inside. The hotel features a large undercover arena where you can witness thrilling rodeo events and bull riding. Entry is free, allowing you to enjoy the action while sipping on your favorite drink. Additionally, the hotel hosts PBR Australia events multiple times a year, including an electrifying New Year's Eve celebration.
Never heard of this place before and only went because of the reviews and had to check it out ourselves... We were definitely not disappointed... What a magnificent, homely, welcoming place with amazing atmosphere and History, food was delicious and the shed behind the hotel that hides what this hotel is all about, from bull riding to music. The 2 days we were there they didn't have any events, but will definitely be back to experience one in the future..

Went last night had Slow cooked Brisket and Pulled pork both with chips and coleslaw! It was delicious. And the music in the background was good, not to loud, we could still talk

One of the best Thursday nights I’ve had … The home style “all you can eat” buffet was tasty, wholesome, and plentiful especially for the price! There was line dancing adding to the experience along with a very nice line array audio system. The atmosphere here is confidently unpretentious. This venue knows who it is, and does it very well. Bring your boots and your appetite.

Cool Pub! Great Steaks and food! Was abit quiet , would have loved the in house rodeo to be on. Would definitely visit again when I'm back in town.

Stake was raw i would prefer to ask for well done. service was interesting, not ideal to bring a 100 kids to a function. Atmosphere, i can hear this arena from my house to blocks down and the crowd get’s really hyped up.

I have never seen a pub with a rodeo ring inside! What a cool pub! I think they held a competition of bull ride every once a month. Which I think it’s so cool

We went to the rodeo here - fantastic experience!! Be mindful - there is quite a lot of rodeo with kids - we watched it with under 12s, under 16s ect. Even the young bulls it was crazy (definitely not a sport for the faint hearted). Amazing value for money for watching, and nice having drinks there.

Headricks Lane is a sophisticated yet inviting dining spot in Rockhampton, offering a fine-dining experience with a cool ambiance. Whether you choose to dine in the brewery area or the main dining space, you can enjoy small plates and crowd favorites paired with cold beers or quality wines. The menu features Rockhampton's best seasonal produce, including Queensland Barramundi, lamb rump, and eye fillet.
The food and cocktails were delicious. It was a really nice night with friends. Service was fantastic, and definitely value for money. Look forward to the next time.

The vibe of the restaurant was lovely. Suitable for both gatherings and romantic dates. Food was not too bad, but I felt I had better wagyu steaks before. What was disappointing was the service. First, I asked for the wine to be chilled, but somehow the restaurant did not have an ice bucket for wine chilling. Then, the service was so slow. We sat near the kitchen and the kitchen kept buzzing the servers to clear the counter and bring the food to the tables. Last, our table waitress had forgotten to key in our wine, which caused a delay when we were footing the bill. Will I come back again? Maybe..
Alan T — Google review
We had a nice night out at Headricks Lane celebrating my wife's birthday. It has a pleasnet atmosphere but it was a cold wet night in Rocky so you needed soemthing warm to wear. On a hot summers night it would be ideal. The menu was varied and had some interesting items on it. We had the Kangaroo and camembert for entrees. The Kangaroo could have been a cooked just a little bit more, just a bit on the rare side for me. The hummus combinationwas an interesting blend of flavours and an added itm to out home cooking now. Add a little diced feta and perfection. The camembert was very tasty and the home made crackers excellent. For main we shared a medium rump and the potatoes. The rump was cooked perfectly and had a nice level of fat in it. Potatoes were perfect. The juniper berry jus was exceptional and a must try. For desert we had the Milo brûlée and the cherry ripe ice-cream. Th presentation was beautiful but neither of the desserts worked for us. Overall we enjoyed our night out and if you are looking for fine dining in Rockhampton this is by far your best option. We will go back again before we leave.
Rodney A — Google review
the service was not fantastic. It took someone over 30-40 mins to come and take our first drink orders. The food was average, ordered the duck and for some reason there was a random bone left on the dish (no meat was attached to it) The $6 salami for a side for the bread, was essentially just Don salami, dumped on the plate straight from the packet? For spending over $400 for a dinner of 7, this was disappointing and won’t recommend to anyone
Kimberlaylayy — Google review
We did not have a booking - got a table for 6. Food came out quite quickly & was very delicious. The grandkids enjoyed their mocktails - we had to get some containers to take leftovers home.

Gorgeous meal. Highlight was the special which was sirloin with delicious jus and truffle mash. The truffle mash 🤌🏼🤌🏼 Husband’s meal was excellent as well. Our server was lovely. Will say whenever we’ve ordered cocktails they always take a long time to come out. Not a big problem but just the same thing whenever we’ve come here. Overall very happy

Cathedral
Historical landmark
St Joseph's Cathedral in Rockhampton is a magnificent and grand church with incredibly tall steeples, making it a fantastic photographic opportunity. It is known for having some of the best stained glass in Australia, which has been recently sent back to France for restoration. The wooden stations of the Cross are detailed and moving, complemented by original pews and marble floors. The cathedral stands out in Rockhampton with its stunning exterior and interior, offering a great historical experience.
Beautiful cathedral. Some of the prettiest stained glass I've ever seen. Certainly worth stopping in, if you are into architecturally pleasing churches. Didn't see staff on site, but the doors were open.
Gabriel C — Google review
St. Paul’s Cathedral – A Neo-Gothic Masterpiece What a stunning slice of history! This beautiful cathedral has been standing tall since 1899, and honestly, mate – photos don’t do it justice. The sheer scale of it as it towers over Rockhampton is something you’ve gotta see in person. The stained glass windows stopped me in my tracks – some of the prettiest I’ve ever laid eyes on. Turns out they were designed by John Hardman & Co. , a legendary English firm (fun fact: they actually worked on parts of the UK’s Westminster Abbey too!). Hats off to Bishop John Cani for founding this place. You can really feel the craftsmanship in every detail – the kind of work that makes you think, “Now that’s what proper handiwork looks like.” If you’re passing through Central Queensland, don’t miss it. Even if you’re not religious, the history and artistry here are worth the visit.
Twoblackbots — Google review
Excellent free light show incorporating the Christmas story as well as some others. Well worth a watch. There are a few seats in front for those who need to sit otherwise plenty of standing room. Toilets are located around side of the cathedral.
Jo S — Google review
A church with a highly spiritually blessed community. The number of Holy Masses indicates the deep faith of the laity here. The park with a fountain beside the church contributes further to the beauty of this church and surrounding places tremendously. This is the capital of Rockhampton diocese. The website of the church gives a lot more information about the entire diocese especially the Holy Masses timing and address of every church Under the diocese which is more clear and concise.

Amee B — Google review
It’s a pity I didn’t get to spend more time in Rockhampton as I would have loved to have captured photos of this magnificent church in all its glory in golden hour lighting. But having said that, the church is incredibly grand. It’s one of the largest churches that I have seen with some incredibly tall steeples. It really does make for a fantastic photographic opportunity. I was able to capture an image at night with a wonderful reflection from a pool of water, and the clouds were moody looking from the full moon. So even at night you can capture some amazing images of the church.

The Ginger Mule is a versatile spot that offers great options for both lunch and dinner. It's known for its fantastic steaks and transforms into a lively venue at night with karaoke. The cocktails are highly recommended, but they also have a good selection of beers. Visitors appreciate the reasonable prices, making it an attractive choice for a meal during a stopover on the Great Ocean Road. The steak sandwich and burger are particularly popular menu items.

Great steak meal at the Wednesday Thursday $12 price. Staff was super friendly and helpful. $40 steak at $12 with a selection of homemade sauces and most of all perfectly cooked. I would pay the normal price with no issue as well. Can’t get any fresher than in the home of the Australian beef industry.

We had our engagement party here last weekend (24th) & it was absolutely amazing! Everyone raved about how awesome the food was (I smashed the chicken wings), and how lovely the atmosphere was. Skye (I think?) was awesome with all of my requests & the leading up to the day, she really made the night super easy. Also thankyou Ashley for putting up with the crowd 😂 Highly recommended for functions & food.

The Red Lion Hotel, located at 138-140 Denham Street in Rockhampton, QLD, is a popular destination for both locals and visitors. This iconic hotel offers a sportsmans bar, Bistro & Steakhouse, and two event spaces. The restaurant serves delicious meals that are cooked to perfection and the staff are friendly and attentive. While the menus may be difficult to read due to small print and dim lighting, the overall dining experience is enjoyable.
Great pub, excellent service with reasonable priced meals. Spent a few days in Rockhampton visited the Lion 3 times for meals. Staff were friendly, lovely eating area with table service. Steaks were delicious. My favourite meal was the Pork Belly absolute perfection

Food was amazing! Very generous portion and reasonably priced. Best lamb shank I've had in a while and steak. Staffs were very friendly and handled a tricky situation they had on that night very professionally. They ensured that other customers were not affected by the situation. We left with two very happy stomach and will be back when we pop by Rocky again. Thank you!
Vivien K — Google review
Extremely disappointed. I ordered the barramundi for the second time. The first time back in April, it was exceptional, but this time it was the meanest dish I've ever been served. No bigger than an entree. It came with a sauce which was a pitiful smear on the plate. My husband and son ordered rare steaks, which were both well done. It's such a shame and enough to deter from returning.
Kim — Google review
Last night I was at the Red Lion, there were four of us. The food was acceptable, with good meat, salty chips, and bland vegetables with nothing available to fix it. The problem was the staff, who, in my opinion, seemed human, but were actually managed by artificial intelligence. Why, at the end of dinner, would they refuse to offer a glass of beer because the kitchen was closed? Rules are important, but humans also have common sense, kindness, and empathy. Robots don't. It's also a question of fairness: if it's late, you won't even let me sit down, you won't take my money, and then you leave me half-finished. Another shocking thing: I'm at the bar, with the draft beer tap between me and the waitress. No cook is needed, just fill a glass. Why deny her? I wasn't drunk, we'd just had a glass of beer each, and we wanted one that we could split between three of us! I was so shocked by the response that I didn't protest, but then I think I understood: damn artificial intelligence!

First time to visit this place, table service and beer and food all on one tab was great. We had the scotch fillet and it was as good as it gets, nice texture on the outside, perfectly cooked and melt in your mouth.
David H — Google review
The only reason I gave a score of 4 was because of the bar staff and the alcohol available. The food before STAR took over was exceptional and now it’s very average.

What a roaring delicious dining..this place would have to be the best food in town for main meals... the atmosphere neutral tones of earthy colours, lights are diming.. giving it a relaxed feel..it's quiet ..great table service with friendly smiles..Compliments to the chefs..I have to give the Red Lion a 5 star..cannot fault it.
DeeDeano — Google review
Ah man usually I like this place a lot and gave previous 5 stars but today I had steak that was cooked 2 to 3 above what I requested. Plates left on the table way too long, poor hospitality, waiters making eye contact but not coming over when we obviously look like we need something, slow; it's a shame. I'll take a while to convince myself to come back. Also compared to other countries I find Australian hospitality lacking.

Nestled in the heart of Rockhampton, O'Dowd's Irish Pub is a delightful spot that captures the essence of an authentic Irish experience. The warm and welcoming bartenders are always ready to assist, making drink recommendations without any hint of condescension. Guests rave about the generous portions and reasonable prices of their meals, with highlights like the Irish Beef and Guinness Pie stealing the show.

Just went to 5 or 6 different pubs in Rockhampton, Queensland and not one had cider on tap. Took this photo at one of them and this is typical of them all. 12 beers, Ginger beer and Canadian Club and dry all on tap, but not one cider. Makes no sense to me. The story does have a happy ending though. Pub number 7 was O'Dowd's Irish pub and we love it. Parked up out the front and ready for a night of dancing to a good band they have playing tonight, because they don't have pokies and best of all, $8 pints of magners on tap. My favorite cider and I had actually forgotten how good it tasted. It is going to be a good night. Our camp up for the night. Band on around 8pm. Good crowd expected. Dinner ordered. Let the party begin. Dinner has arrived. I had the beef and Guinness pie and it was very yummy. Susie had nachos with extra jalapeno and loved it. What a kewl pub. Great staff and tasty food and a band. Aneisha in the photos is one of the most friendly and helpful bar people we have met in Queensland. The band was excellent and all very good musician’s. Had a great dance and really enjoyed their music.

A great historical village with a varied range of old buildings, displays and collections. The volunteers at the centre were wonderful, being very generous with their time and knowledge. We had family.members ranging between 3yrs - 75yrs and all said that they would want to return. At $5 entry/person it was a nice way to spend a few hours looking into our past - it helped to give some perspective to the kids on how good we have it these days with modern technology.

Absolutely loved visiting the village with all the authentic attractions from a time gone by all lovingly restored and displayed. Easy walk around all the displays and plenty of room to stop and take in all the historical sights without feeling rushed A lovely info centre and well staffed with people who were happy to chat about their village. The entry cost was relatively cheaper than most other attractions of the same calibre well worth visiting if in the area

It’s set up like a little town and we were first taken on a motor ride in a vintage car, to point out the major sights, then we walked the 11 acre site. It was incredible to see what people have done to restore, renovate and maintain the buildings and contents. For $5 each, don’t miss it.

An absolutely amazing experience, stepping back in time seeing how people lived, went to school and made a living. How far we have come in a short time

A real cross section of history. From how people lived and worked in the region. Great displays of cars and buggy, to fire and hospital with quite a few houses thrown in. I was there for 2 hours, and didnt see everything. I will be back!

Amazing little cultural center where you can learn a bit about aboriginal culture and history. Would recommend taking one of their tours, it's free with the normal paid entrance ticket. We got to hear live didgeridoo playing and got to learn and throw boomerangs! Worth a visit!
Peter F — Google review
We had a quick stop here and it was wonderful! We just walked around ourselves but staff were so friendly and happy to point out certain things. I feel the guided tours would be amazing! They are on 1030am and 1pm but great to look at our culture and history! Would recommend when in central Queensland!
Maddie G — Google review
In our opinion, it may be worth stopping by if you are driving by. I don't think it's worth going out of your way for. Having said that, the didgeridoo playing and boomerang tossing were both enjoyable.

What a great centre for expanding your knowledge of the aboriginal community. Wayne our guide was full of knowledge and played the didgeridoo like a professional. He also taught us how to throw the boomerang which a great experience. Thank you Wayne for sharing your knowledge with us. Highly recommend a visit to this centre.

Took grandchildren to the DCC and they really enjoyed the didg playing, throwing boomarangs as well as learning a lot in the cave.

A very informative tour today. Focusing on the tribes of the Sandstone belt of central Queensland, our guide told us some of the history, Dreamtime stories, and more modern history of the Aboriginal people of the region. Moving to the cave for his didgeridoo performance was... Wow.. worth the entry fee for that. Great performance, and great acoustics. Happily answered many questions regarding the place the didgeridoo held in his people's culture and life. Finished up with some Boomerang throwing.. He said they were the returning kind, but I'm not so sure as plenty seemed to go pretty straight.. Overall a great experience, and learnt plenty.
Grant M — Google review
Wonderful experience - Wayne the tour guide was excellent 👏👏 - played the didgeridoo professionally & boomerang throwing was also good! Francis - his uncle was Eddie Mabo - gave an informative talk about the history of the Torres Strait 👏👏 Well worth a visit here !!

Only go if you do the guided tour otherwise the centre doesn’t have a lot to offer. However the guide played the didgeridoo beautifully and it was great trying out the boomerang.

The 42nd Battalion Memorial Pool offers a tranquil environment for water therapy and recreational activities. With its pristine condition and excellent upkeep, the pool provides a range of amenities such as waterslides and mini golf to entertain visitors. The facility is reasonably priced and conveniently located next to a putt putt course, ensuring a enjoyable experience in a peaceful setting. The friendly and competent staff contribute to the welcoming atmosphere of the pool. Its closure at the end of May marks an end to this remarkable swimming destination.
Great pool. Very clean and tidy. 50m lap pool, water was around 24c. Kids liked the water slides and they have kiosk with some food options. Lots of shady spots and grassy area. $3 entry is cheap.

This was a nice day out. Our taller child and dad had a wonderful time on the slids, and the pools were refreshing during the hot day while also being nicely shaded however it would be great if there was more shaded seating areas

Enjoyed a smin and play with the family at the 42nd Battalion Memorial Pool. To start i would love to point out the name is a little misleading due to the fact they don't offer a veteran discount, so much for memorial part. We enjoyed the swim and their big slides, all in all a great day for all. Would recommend for the whole family and you will not regret a second.

Took my grandson during the Easter holidays and he loved it. Great slides if you don't mind the climb!! Lovely clean pool, lots of shaded tables and some basic hot foods.

The staff are also so friendly and helpful

We visited today from the Gold Coast and wow what an outstanding pool! So clean and very well maintained. Both our children were delighted with the Easter egg hunt and our older son loved the slides. Very well priced too and next to the putt putt which was also enjoyable and very quiet. The young staff were very welcoming and professional. Thanks for having us!

Specialty Museums
Archer Park Rail Museum, located in a heritage-listed former railway station built in 1899, is a transport museum showcasing vintage steam trams and other memorabilia. The museum features a restored Purrey Steam Tram, incorporating parts of the original tramcars that operated in Rockhampton from 1909 to 1939. Visitors can explore locomotives and rail-related relics while learning about the area's railway history.
Visited this small cosy museum on my 50th birthday. Had the fun of sitting in a steam engine driven tram that's about 100 years old! It was a short 10mins ride up and down the short track but mades me feeling excited like a kid. LOL.. the rest of the exhibits were old but worth reading about some of the station's history. Go only on Sunday if you want a ride on the tram.
Steven L — Google review
We loved our visit here soaking in how travelling by trains was done in a bygone era and all the effort needed to make it happen! This railway station was constructed in the same architecturally pleasing style as the ones in Mt Morgan, Emerald, and Longreach. There are plenty of volunteers around to answer any questions and do guided tours for groups. There is a Cafe on-site to provide refreshments if required. Allow at least an hour to enjoy this experience.
Kelvin J — Google review
Very interesting museum that celebrates the history of trains and trams in Rockhampton. There are a lot of interactive activities, including a ride on a historic tram (only on Sundays, I believe). Tour guides offer more insight to the exhibits.
Leslie P — Google review
Great staff and lots to look to at. The steam tram was well worth a look. It doesn’t go very far week days, if you want to ride the tram your better to go on the weekend.
Brian H — Google review
If like me, you luv trains and trams, then you will be in Nirvana here. ✅ An awesome museum, where you can literally get hands-on with the exhibits, climbing aboard decommissioned trains and trams, as well as related operating systems, at this beautifully presented retired station. Just fantastic and I will be back ... 🚃 🚂
Coffee T — Google review
A really well done museum explaining the history of railways in the area On Sunday they run a historical steam tramway tour in an original steam powered tram, the only one of it’s type still working worldwide There are many other interesting exhibits in the museum and it is well worth a visit

Samo's Fish Bar offers fantastic chips that are both delicious and affordable, with generous portions. The fries are incredibly crispy and have a great flavor. Despite being busy, the staff works efficiently to prepare everything quickly and serve it hot. In addition to their incredible chips, Samo's also serves the best crumbed fish in town. Their battered fries, topped with cheese and bacon, are simply amazing.
Without a doubt the best fish and chips EVER. Great value, nice size pieces, cooked perfectly, ( we had crumbed) and surprisingly thick pieces. Chips were "real" chips chunky ones and nothing was greasey. Service was fast and friendly, shop was busy which is always a good indication of great tucker. 10 of 10 ladies.

Don’t be put off by the appearance of the premises as it has the tastiest fish and chips, not drenched in oil or salt, but superbly cooked and wrapped in lots of paper to keep the meal piping hot, the service is excellent with the staff most helpful and cheerful. Good luck, girls!

The fish was dry but maybe because I left it for awhile but the tar tar sauce was impeccable and the chips were nice

Having never been here before, I was unsure of the food. What a tastefully bliss surprise. 😊 We ordered fish and scallops, wow wow wow. Some of the best I have ever had. I can't stop telling people to try it for themselves if they are going through Rocky.

So I just got home to eat my order, absolutely disgusting! Some of the chips were obviously from some else's order as they were almost black and gross. The gravy was a flavour less brown concoction of God knows what. Don't recommend this joint googlers!

On Rump Night, my partner and I decided to visit Parkhurst Tavern at 6.30pm, hoping to avoid the crowds. However, the dining area was packed with a lineup of at least nine people waiting to order. We divided our tasks; my partner found a table while I joined the line. Thankfully, the line moved smoothly and rump steak seemed to be a popular choice among customers for $26. We had the option of selecting two sides and opted for salad and chips.
I was apart of a reservation of like 30+ people so I wasn’t expecting to be served too quick. But the meals come out fast 💫 and was delicious. I got fish of the day with chips and salad which was on the special board for $31. It was cooked perfectly 🤤 the garlic sauce was literally so yummy on the prawns. Chips had perfect amount of seasoning and weren’t soggy! Crispy chips, fresh salad, perfectly cooked and delicious! I had white wine with my meal, and the lady complimented my outfit, always nice to have cheery kind service🥰 Didn’t get too many picture sadly because I was enjoying the night atmosphere. There’s a pic of my meal, but my friend didn’t wait for me to take a pic of hers… as u can see😭 overall I would go back!⭐️👍🏼

Normally love eating at this pub but the menu has recently been changed with new ownership. The price has gone up but the quality of the food has gone down. I had a crumbed steak that was $33 and was so salty and over cooked. My husband had a chicken party which he said was alright. Despite all that the service was wonderful :)

Pleasant, efficient staff. Great experience. Catered to our every need including one very small issue which we were not concerned about but was offered a complimentary drink or dessert. Thankyou so much. Excellent service. Highly recommend. Hardworking and courteous staff. Some very young and hardworking . Awesome to see. Well done. Will be back.

We often have Friday lunch here but this was our first time for lunch since the change in ownership. Usually the place is a hive of activity at this time of the week. Today It was quite empty so staff were available to provide quick service and food was also served quickly. Our meals were as nice as they always have been and staff as friendly as always. Definitely not a fan of the change in the menu and the higher prices, and the removal of the standard (and amazing value) lunch specials is disappointing. I am not sure if these changes are why it was so quiet but if it is, the new owners would do well to change things back to what it was. Very very disappointing as this was a great value, family friendly pub. Sadly, It won’t be our ‘go-to’ anymore. It’s now a falling STAR.
Charmaine F — Google review
We always enjoy going to the parky, but we went in for lunch this week and the menu had changed, the prices were ridiculous for just basic pub standards, We flipped the menu over and they had some nonsense written on the back trying to justify the massive price rise but there's many other pubs near by with the same food much cheaper and just as good, We were very disappointed and we walked out, quite a shame it used to be a great place for a meal, We always recommended it to our friends but not anymore, Again such a shame😔

Sing Chinese Kitchen is a highly regarded restaurant that has been frequented by patrons for many years. The staff members are extremely friendly and the food they serve is incredibly delicious. Many customers believe that the quality of their dishes surpasses even those prepared at home. Moreover, the prices at Sing Chinese Kitchen are affordable, making it an ideal choice for celebrating birthdays or simply enjoying a meal.
A highlight of our brief stay passing through was this delicious and welcoming “fill a container for $16” takeaway. (Dine in is offered, but isn’t really recommended/ not used it seemed). Fresh, tasty Chinese classics, good value, and smiling, friendly owners. Awesome!

This is an Asian food, buffet style, self-serve take-away shop. No decor, just efficient service of good food. A street stall in a shop. The food includes what I consider the most popular Asian dishes and as expected are prepared with an 'Australian palate' in mind. This is comfort food at its best. One size takeaway tray at a fixed price allows a selection of dishes to be made. Great value and highly recommended.

Stonegrill Restaurant offers a unique dining experience where you get to cook your own meat on a hot stone. The steaks are served sizzling on a flat lava stone, allowing you to seal and cook each bite-size slice to your liking. The menu features various cuts of steak, including kangaroo, chicken with garlic, and tenderloin. Customers rave about the juicy and tender tenderloin while recommending the rump as a standout option.
Searched this place up on google. I read it was really good, but what i didn't expect was for it to be absolutely smashing! I ordered the Cube Roll L with extra roo, and the food came quickly within 10 minutes from ordering. If you've never been to stonegrill before, fret not! As the staff will guide you as to how to consume and cook your steak. I will definitely recommend this place to all my friends, and I'll definitely return here when I visit rockhampton again.

One of the best steaks I have ever had. It melts in your mouth as everyone here reviewed so. I was surprised how tasty it was. The restaurant provided such a fantastic service as well. Thank you.
Eunbi K — Google review
When we first saw the place from the outside, we thought it might have been closed down. Thankfully it isn't and I dare to say, this is probably the best steak I ever had, yet.. The owner served you personally.. and he has this incredible fiery loving passion for steak that I think you can get full just listening to him speak about steak. What is amazing though, is that their chips (or fries) are as top notch as the steaks. Freshly cut and fried to perfection! Im hungry now just by thinking about it when I'm writing this review.. We went as a group so there are some who feels that Japanese Wagyu ones are better but heck them! It's nice grilled beef and that's all I care! Went there twice also by the way 😬
Guan A — Google review
The service was excellent. The steak was good, though I don't know if I got what I ordered. It was tasty though. It comes out raw on a volcanic stone and you cook each bite to your liking yourself. The chips were good but the salad was not so great. The veggies were just awful. Dried up and undercooked. And then we were overcharged. The poor lady was so busy - she seemed to be the only one there and was doing the bottle shop, reception and serving the meals and behind the bar - we didn't have the heart to say anything.
Bianca A — Google review
Super interesting concept of having you cook the meat on a hot stone yourself! We had the kangaroo, chicken with garlic and the tenderloin. The meat cooks really quickly so you’re more so eating really quickly than waiting for it to cook. Kangaroo meat got tough quickly bcs we weren’t eating it fast enough and it over cooked. Highly recommend the tenderloin, it’s just so juicy and tender! The chips were a delight too, made from fresh potato.
Scarlett — Google review
Googled up "best steak in Rocky" and this place came up first on multiple charts. Was it worth it? Depending on what you expect. The place is run down and in urgent need of reno. You get a quality piece of raw steak and cook it to your liking. The kid loved the fun. Salad was a bit weathered - looks like it was sitting there for a while. Same for chips. We missed out on that wonderful guy who gives you an enthusiastic story about meat. Can't say we weren't taken care of though. 2 large steaks, extra chips, soft drink and a schooner cost $120. I would expect a little bit more in every department for that. Overall I give 3, she gives 4, the kid gives 5.
Gleb M — Google review
The man who runs this place is an artist with a carving knife. If you can, have the older gentleman wait your table (the owner, I believe). Or at least have a chat with him. He knows cow anatomy better than I know my own. Take his advice on the intensity of flavor you'll get from any given cut, and enjoy. If you're a tourist like me, they have a plate that includes kangaroo and crocodile. Plan on staying at least 90 minutes. The service is quick, partially because you're sort of cooking your dinner yourself (stone grill and all), so it takes a bit more time. Place includes a jukebox, attached liquor store (for the after party?), seating for large groups, and a small casino. I highly recommend.
Rich B — Google review
We all know that different cut of meat taste differently. The best way to appreciate it is to give a visit at this little hidden restaurant. I realised that what I thought only subtle difference was actually distinctive flavour and texture between cuts like tenderloin, rump, striploin and cuberoll. The owner was lovely and knowledgeable, clearly holding passion for good steak. Not the most posh venue in terms of presentation and decor, but I personally do not worry too much about these when I am in a mood for good steak!

Mount archer is a beautiful place to enjoy the nature and the landscape in Rockhampton. The place is totally free of charge, all you need is your time and energy to walk around the place. Sunset is definitely a must at this place, so come around the evening time is ideal. The hiking trail is decent and suitable for most people. Be careful with Google directions, put the street name in, not the national park name. Great facilities and awesome new raised walking track to the north behind toilets. Coffee on weekends. Good play ground for the kids with a slide/swing and a bunch of things to balance on. Currently doing road works and expanding the viewing platform so expect some construction on the way up and there.

Excellent lookout; well worth the drive. But don't stop at the "main" area (where the Kiosk bldg is), check out the "Nurim Circuit Elevated Boardwalk" which is about 100m away. But (IMHO) do NOT do the walk to Sliepner Lookout!
Stephen P — Google review
Nice view but nothing else. Just for a quick walk to take pictures.
Francisco B — Google review
We only did a small section of the Zion hike and it was stunning. Really well maintained, beautiful views and vegetation.
Matt Z — Google review
Make sure you do the short Nurim walk which is easy as it is mostly boardwalk or similar. It leads to a fantastic unobstructed view. This is important as where you first arrive on top of Mt Archer, the view is obstructed by trees.

🥰 love it , my friends and i had agreat time here

Absolutely disgusting. We had to check it was open as from outside super run down. At desk, no staff around - literally waited 5 minutes and calling out for the cafe girl to come out from kitchen and come to the checkout. Dirty walls, roof, floors, this down pipe we were next to was disgusting. No soap in bathrooms, empty bottles of hand sanitiser. Even my 9yo commented feeling like she needed a shower after we left.

We have just had my son's 11th birthday party at Rocky Bowl and Leisure. It was so easy to book and all guests including the birthday boy had a blast. They had a round of bowling and laser tag with arcade games in between. The food was good and the staff was so helpful and kind. Thank you for making birthday parties so easy and fun!
May L — Google review
Had a birthday party there, extremely overpriced considering we received poor customer service through the entire time. The was poor communication when ordering food, getting shoes for the kids, paying for the party and the laser tag experience, we were either ignored, were given attitude when was asking simple questions or requested given that we had book a party. When we would try to correct mistakes like the wrong drinks orders, we were told ‘but you didn’t say that, and all the staff are saying to don’t say that, even the manager agreed with me’ We are polite throughout the interactions and we still received poor response from staff.l including the Manager. Considering we didn’t receive the birthday pin for the guest to sign which is included normally, and I wouldn’t go back again considering the price, service and you don’t get what your payed for, much better to do it yourself.
Brianna — Google review
Enjoyed the game but the machine was malfunctioning all the time knocking pins over. We told the staff but nothing was done about it. I politely informed them after we finished that it spoilt our game. The girl behind the counter said I should have told the manager straight away& asked me to move so she could serve the next person. I had only been at the counter for 10 seconds. After serving the next person I informed her that we had complained to staff & nothing was done about it. She said oh well there is nothing I can do about it. I asked to speak to the manager because she was so rude. She said I am the manager & it’s too bad. So this is my review.
Nadene K — Google review
Experience was not too bad. Food is quite expensive for average quality. Place definitely needs a renovation. However lots of activities and helpful staff. Would consider eating somewhere else before going though, easily get more for your money by doing so. Better signage for the carparking wouldn't go astray and don't bring any big cars to the undercover parking 1.8m clearance.

The Rockhampton Museum of Art, situated in Rockhampton City, is a vibrant art museum that serves as a natural gathering place by the Tunuba riverbanks on Darumbal Country. It features both permanent and temporary exhibits primarily showcasing Australian modernist works and offers educational programs. The museum's multi-level gallery overlooks the Fitzroy River and houses an impressive collection of mid-20th-century Australian art. Visitors can engage in artist conversations to gain deeper insights into the exhibited works.
We certainly enjoyed this gallery. Entry is free, courtesy of the City of Rockhampton. The Ken Done collection was on display when we were there, but this only for a season. I highly recommend you wander around and enjoy the works of art. Not all was to my taste, but then we are all different.!

The RMOA has a great selection of modern art from Australian artists. The current displays are examples of some fantastic first nation artists. I really enjoyed walking around the galleries. And what an addition to Rockys community and for its tourism. Free entry and a cool space on a hot day.

Absolutely brilliant! The place is stunning, The Cafe is brilliantly positioned, Elevators if you're unable to take the stairs, there are also wheel chair ramps for wheelchair access. The gift store is stunning with amazing gifts and accessories. It's a must visit when you're ever in Rockhampton! Cameron

A must visit in the city of Rockhampton, from the art to the views everything is stunning here. The art gallery is also free of charge 🤩

Many and varied works of art, that range from realistic landscapes to highly interactive abstract pieces. Paintings, statutes, audio visual exhibits abound here. It was free to explore on the day I visited and I reckon well worth checking out.

This was great fun. Kids loved it and found something around every turn. The cardboard building station was a hit as were the drawings. Mad max inspired art was fun. It's over 3 levels but no complaints from the kids as they had a lot of fun. It's free to look at and well worth a look.

Pie shop
Cranston's Pies, a renowned bakery in Australia, holds a strong reputation thanks to their exceptional staff and enduring success. Their expertise in preparing pies with perfectly cooked bottoms is evident. Visitors are encouraged to try a variety of fillings, as each one proves delicious and the flaky pastry ensures enjoyment till the very last bite. However, it seems they occasionally forget to add sauce, which diminishes the overall experience for some customers.
The best quality pies in central Queensland. Truly iconic to the beef capital of Australia

Good pies though expensive. Coffee good staff attitude could be improved. Limited selection of cakes
Gary M — Google review
Bought reg chips and gravy. Chips were old and dry. Maybe change the oil? Paying 5 bucks for chips that you can’t eat is beyond dismal. Also the quiche Lorraine, don’t bother, it is all eggs no bacon. After the this, think I might make my own chips. Much cheaper, and supporting farmers rather than a franchise who can’t even cook chips right. 🔥

Do yourself a favour go get a pie and peas from Cranstons ,omg they have changed the recipe and it was bloody good, custard apple pie yum ,best pie in town 8

The pies are okay, better than the bakeries in Rocky, but the price for peas are outrages! I got a small container and it cost as much as a pie!!

Captain Nemo's is a beloved sandwich spot in Rockhampton, known for its fresh and delicious subs at great prices. The menu offers a variety of flavors, with the salami sub with hot chili sauce being a standout. The restaurant operates like Subway but with a simpler ordering process. While the untoasted bread may not be to everyone's liking, the generous portion sizes make it suitable for both breakfast and lunch. In addition to subs, there are wrap and salad options available.
Potentially the heart and soul of Rocky. The subs here far supersede those of their competitor. Old school genuine service by the ladies behind the counter, paired with delicious and simple food made exceptionally quick. I also have to agree with other comments about the great mayonnaise used here! The subs are enough for two meals or just a big lunch; coming in at roughly $14, that’s a great deal. I’ll be back time and time again.
Adam W — Google review
Giant subs! This is food for Olympians!! Delicious, made to order giant sub sandwiches with fresh bread and a large selection of fillings to choose from. The service is friendly and it's really good value for money - no wonder there is a queue!!
Suzie L — Google review
Saw this restaurant in Google and decided to give it a try. It looks like the subway but way simpler, you just tell them which sandwich that you want and they just prepare for you, no need to tell what kind of bread, vege or sauce. Honestly I love their own mayonnaise, it tastes good! But the sandwich is not toast so I don't really like the break tho, prefer if the bread is toasted. Overall it is still not bad. Big size that is enough for breakfast and lunch.
Neo — Google review
Grew up on this but now live overseas. Going back for the first time in years didn't disappoint. Bread seems to have changed (maybe thicker?) but the taste and quality hasn't. Still the best sub sandwich I've had anywhere. 5 stars all the way.

Captain Nemo’s is a Rocky institution. The food is amazing and the service is always fantastic. The subs are a generous size and offer a variety of delicious toppings. The food is always fresh and tasty and the Captain’s own mayo is the stuff of legend. There are also wrap and salad options for those who don’t want a sub or require a gluten free option. Definitely pay a visit to the Captain when you’re in town!
Emma M — Google review
I work close by and Nemos is a regular in my lunch rotation. Their subs & sandwiches are delicious, filling and great value. The staff are always friendly, even when they are run off their feet. Highly recommend trying... if you aren't already in their cult following. Did I mention- their Mayo is the best ever? 🤤
Alicia H — Google review
Better than subway. I didn't like the first two subs so I thought I'd never returm but I tried again and they were amazing. I think the first two it was the polish salami had a strong funky taste. I've tried the Cuban and savoury mince. Both were toasted and delicious. Now I see why they are popular in Rocky.

Best Indian cuisine in the town with delicious veg curries and cheers to Chef Bhagwant for the naans.

Was visiting from interstate and heard good things about this restaurant. The tandoori platter was over cooked. The shahi kofta sauce tasted the same as chicken tikka masala and looked the same. Koftas were burnt Nanns weren’t even cooked in the tandoor.
Katrina S — Google review
Today my friends and I came down for some Indian dinner here and absolutely loved it. We were 10 people and the food came down without any long wait. Definitely not our last time! The mixed entree plate is great to get a taste of different kinds of starters and I particularly enjoyed the Goan King Prawn Curry! Sooo good! :)

Spice route is a family favourite of ours, we have never been disappointed with our meals. So much flavour and just the right amount of heat. They have something for everyone’s taste preference. We can’t recommend spice route highly enough.

During our Rockhampton tour we went there on Sunday to have dinner. Such an amazing experience with service and food. Truely recommend them. Whenever we will visit Rockhampton we will definitely go there.

Great tasting food, but service by a 14 year old with no experience, no music or ambience in seated area. Take away only. Disappointed.
Ryan W — Google review
If you are after authentic spicy Indian food that's not de-spiced and thereby destroyed just to cater for the typically bland Australian palate, then this is the place to go. The dishes are nicely presented, they look appetising and the flavours are strong, just how they should be and just how I like them. Last time, for entree, I had the Chicken Wings marinated in yoghurt with fresh herbs and spices and roasted in the tandoor and served with mint chutney and a sweeter spicy concoction, while for main course, I had the hotly spiced Hyderabadi Bhoona Ghost with beef, a specialty from the royal state of Nizam, famous for royal banquets. Both were delicious, my only complaint being that the chicken wings were rather undercooked, which I mentioned to the friendly service personnal. This won't deter me however, as I appreciate the real Indian flavours and presentation and I shall be back to try the rest of the menu.

The butter chicken was delicious. I can't comment on the atmosphere as it was a takeaway. However, the staff was very friendly and welcoming.
