Indian restaurant
The Spirit of Punjab is a renowned Indian restaurant in Regional Victoria, offering an array of authentic Indian dishes. From samosas to tandoori paneer tikka and butter chicken, the restaurant presents a menu with 90 different flavorful options. The establishment prides itself on using fresh ingredients and ground spices to create traditional Indian flavors. Whether dining in or opting for takeaway, guests can indulge in genuine Indian cuisine at reasonable prices.
I had a delightful experience at Spirit of Punjab! The atmosphere was inviting and the staff were friendly. Food came out quickly and there were a lot of vegan options! The onion bhaji and tofu dahl were delicious! The mild level of spice was suitably mild. Unfortunately there were no vegan desserts but the field of bounding kangaroos was an amazing addition to the experience. I look forward to coming back in the future!

My experience for this restaurant was wonderful. The very first attracting thing was the ambience and the very first entrance where they have decorated a really good sculptures and the decor is awesome. Their food is extremely delicious. We had a really good family dinner there. One of the best Indian restaurants in Halls gap. The Staff is really good. The service was really quick. We had a good experience and the backside of the restaurant is also really nice. The sitting area is vast large and huge. I just love everything about this place.
Ayushi P — Google review
I was excited to try and support a local business. Definitely good quality, and great flavours. I ordered takeout and arrived 10 minutes before I had requested it to be ready. Lucky I did this as it was already sitting waiting for me. I was only a few minutes drive away, but things weren’t hot, and the onion bhaji were soggy. I had requested on the order that each individual dish be as mild as possible. I also requested on the overall order that things please be as mild as possible. This didn’t happen. The butter chicken was the spiciest butter chicken I’ve had. The kids also struggled. I wish I’d dined in. I think I would have had more luck with temperature, maybe I would have been able to explain better in person how I’d needed things to be. If ever I was to go back, I’d want to try and order in person and to try and take things when they were fresh and hot.

Today we visited Spirit of Punjab in Halls Gap, and the experience was truly wonderful. The restaurant gives a warm and welcoming feel from the moment you enter. The interior has a cozy, traditional touch that reflects Indian culture, making the atmosphere peaceful and family-friendly. Surrounded by the beautiful Halls Gap scenery, it feels like the perfect place to enjoy a relaxed meal. The food was the real highlight — authentic Indian flavours, well-balanced spices, and freshly prepared dishes. Each item tasted like true home-style cooking rather than overly commercial restaurant food. The portions were satisfying and nicely presented. For anyone who loves genuine Indian cuisine, this place is definitely worth visiting. Another thing that made our experience special was the service. The staff were very kind, polite, and attentive. They served with a smile, checked on us at the right times, and made us feel comfortable throughout our meal. Overall, Spirit of Punjab is a great combination of great food, pleasant vibes, and excellent service. If you are in Halls Gap and craving Indian food, this restaurant is a must-visit. We would love to come back again.
Swara K — Google review
We were really looking forward to trying Spirit of Punjab, but the food didn’t quite meet our expectations. The Chicken Malai Tikka tasted like plain boiled chicken quickly heated in the oven, and the Tandoori Chicken was very similar — extremely mild, almost tasteless spices and just a few minutes in the tandoor. For mains, the Chicken Karhai was okay but lacked the rich, authentic flavours we hoped for. For an Indian restaurant, the food tasted more like a British version of Indian cuisine — very bland and not true to the traditional style. Overall, the dishes felt under-seasoned and not authentically prepared. We hope they improve the flavours and cooking methods, because the place has potential.
Rushi J — Google review
We absolutely love our Indian food and this was one of the best we’ve come across in all of Victoria! So very impressed ☺️ heaps of options on the menu including vegetarian/vegan as well as cocktails, wines & beer. highly recommend!

The Kookaburra Hotel offers a relaxed dining experience with a sophisticated bistro menu and local wine selection. During the winter, visitors can enjoy the cozy ambiance by the roaring fire after a day of hiking. Guests have praised the delicious seafood barramundi paired with local chardonnay and appreciated the attentive service, especially for dietary restrictions like gluten-free options. The restaurant is also known for its fantastic meals, including flavorful soups and fresh fish and chips with homemade tartare sauce.
We stopped here on our visit to Halls Gap and had a great afternoon! The staff were kind and helpful, the food was quick and there was some delicious beer on tap. The kids enjoyed the complimentary games, kept them quiet so the big kids could enjoy a game of pool. Will definitely be back.

Just had a meal at the Kookaburra Hotel in Halls Gap and it was perfect. I had the full Porterhouse steak with Green Peppercorn gravy and my wife had the Kangaroo in their super secret sauce. We asked for rare and it was served...rare!!! Unbelievable! Most places can't get this right, these guys know how to cook! The meals were perfect, the service was perfect and the drinks and atmosphere were just amazing. Not to mention everything was well priced. Loved it so much, would be back here again night after night if we weren't only here on holiday. Perfect! UPDATE: We forced ourselves to have dessert. Shared a vanilla bean pannacotta and a tiramisu. As before, perfection! Don't miss this place!

We visited the Kookaburra hotel for dinner while in town. First the staff were very welcoming and accommodating to fit us in without a booking. The waitstaff are amazing at customer service, so friendly and polite. They genuinely look very happy to be there. Then we had our meals; a chicken parmigiana and a steak, prompt to arrive and everything cooked to perfection- Thankyou chef. As visitors to the area we were very impressed with not only the staff and food but the overall atmosphere. If you want an amazing meal and exceptional service we definitely recommend the Kookaburra hotel!!

Today was a hard day. I bogged my car first thing in the morning which lead to an hour and a half of digging, I then hiked kilometre after kilometre through the grampians ranges seeing alm I could. Needless to say by the time I rolled into halls gap i was famished, on my last legs, begging for release, thats when I saw it, a venom brewing sign in the distance. My heart sighed its own breath of relief as i knew there was a pub nearby, The Kookaburra Hotel. At first I arrived a little early (an issue im working on) and eaiting for the magical doors to open. I sampled the most delectable brew I could of hoped for; The Laughing Lager, crisp, cold, refreshing, perfect. I couldn't help but stay here just a while longer, I waited patiently for the kit hen to open so I could order the Italian Lamb with the handsome Luke and Chris who were minding the bar keeping everyone happy. Sooner than expected the man himself Jace stepped out from the kitchen with the most magnifient build and beard I've ever seen in my life, no doubt a direct decadence of Zeus himself, set the plate down infornt of me with the simple word "Enjoy" and by crikey if it wasn't the most magnificent lamb that I've ever tasted in all my years. The meat was was soft and tender like the embrace of a lover lost to time. The veggies so incredibly flavoursome I couldn't help but deny anything this good could really be real. Needless to say my Times at the Kookaburra Tavern, was no less than heavenly, blissful, inspiring, and encouraging. I live over in W.A so the chances I get to visit again are low, but staff olease know that upon my death bed, when my children ask me for my final words of wisdom and life advice I shall tell them; "Goto the Kookaburra Hotel."

The food was exceptional. All the staff from the moment we walked in were friendly, accommodating and extremely knowledgeable about the local wines and things to do in the area. Highly recommend the Kangaroo, the gravy is to die for!! The atmosphere is relaxed and casual.

My friends and I had the BEST time at the Kookaburra! The food as delicious and the amazing service topped it off! Genuine people doing what they love. Can’t stop talking about how great it was, thankyou for having us, see you next time! Lots of love, the Shark 😉🫶🏼

Best meals we had while in Halls Gap! Totally chipped out by dinners at other places, the Kookaburra offered a full range of meals that suited everyone - kids, vegos, pub classics and proper meals. Best kangaroo I've had in over 20 years! Good service, good drinks list and a pool table - what more would you want? Definitely ring ahead to book a table though, otherwise you could be disappointed.

Pizza restaurant
Raccolto Pizzeria, located on Heath Street, is a popular dining spot in Halls Gap. The cozy restaurant offers a range of delicious wood-fired, thin-crust pizzas as well as parmigiana and crisp salads. Visitors can enjoy the warm and welcoming atmosphere, complete with an outside log fire. The authentic Italian pizzas are known for their perfect crust and delicious flavors. Additionally, the restaurant provides vegetarian options and fondue of cheeses cooked in a wood-fired oven.
We visited Emily’s restaurant a couple of times over the weekend and absolutely loved the ambiance, vibe, and overall energy. The food is top-notch and freshly prepared—you can really taste the quality in the soft pizza dough and the flavorful sauce. There’s also a great wine selection. We even stopped by the winery to pick up a few bottles after leaving Halls Gap. Huge thanks to Emily and the chef—fantastic work! We’ll definitely be back on our next trip. A+!

Epicurean delight in everything from my, funghi pizza was my husbands bacon pizza. The most professional menu, descriptions alone of the pizza had me salivating. The Jacobs Creek Pinot Noir was very good. The lovely blonde lady is the hostess with mostess ....kind, sweet and very thoughtful. Thanks to the chefs for the best pizza I've ever had......Halls Gap you're very lucky to have this business for visitors like us!! Sorry we're leaving otherwise we would have been back tomorrow.

We have nothing but praise and fantastic memories thanks to Raccolto Pizzaria. From the minute we stepped in our express nothing less than fabulous. The owner is super friendly and attentive, happy to help and answer questions about anything from food intolerances and options available to local spots you have to visit and experience. It was super busy when we arrived in Halls Gap due to an event being held over the weekend, but service didn’t falter. We can’t recommend this gorgeous little restaurant enough !!

We ordered two pizzas from Raccolto Pizzeria in Halls gap, in person because the only other option was to place the order through their website. We were warm and cozy in our motel room, but decided to drive to the shop because we didn’t know how long the pizzas would take or what the expected wait time was. When we ordered, they didn’t ask any questions—such as the type of base we wanted or any other usual options that allow customers to personalise their pizzas. We were told to wait 10 minutes, and, to be fair, the pizzas were ready on time. When we returned to our motel room, we couldn’t tell what condiments were on the pizzas. My husband had asked for jalapeños and counted only about six slices. I ordered the Beef Delight, but my pizza looked and tasted bad—I couldn’t see or taste any beef. Everything looked unappetising and was impossible to eat. The pizzas were not cheap—each cost around $30. This so-called Italian pizza place seriously needs to improve the quality, flavour, and ingredients of their pizzas. I would not recommend it. Since I didn’t dine in, I cannot comment on the service or atmosphere inside the venue—but the pizzas were awful, as shown in the photos.

Most amazing service by Amy, working front of house solo. Amazing wood fired pizza, perfectly cooked thin crust, delicious toppings and great menu variety. Prompt meal delivery, loved the live music from a duo and a really relaxed atmosphere on a busy Sat night. Very highly recommended.
Mery — Google review
What an amazing hidden gem of a place which serves amazing wood fired pizzas and cannoli. Shoutout for the amazing service which complimented the food and also elevated our overall experience. We wanted to enjoy the pizza there but then decided to do takeaway. Waited outside next to the fire pit and the lady at counter offered complementary marshmallows and that set up the mood of all members of different age group. Finally, moment of truth - each 🍕 was work of an art and really delicious. The toppings were generous and quality is something which you can feel in each and every bite. Italian Roasted Pork Pizza - highly recommend to any pork lover, absolute beauty 😍. Vegetarian Special Pizza - It was on specials mentioned on the whiteboard and sure azz loved up to its name. Cheese and Garlic Focaccia - Now cheese and garlicky bread is so simple and yet one of the most difficult and these guy's really nailed it....each bite was perfectly balanced and this was a banger... Will be visiting again and highly recommended to anyone who wants to enjoy the pizza in Halls Gap, give it a shot and enjoy. PS : Thanks for the amazing Cannoli which was offered....I'm having a bite of it with my coffee and it tastes 😋. What a jewel in Halls Gap.

Fantastic pizza in the heart of Halls Gap. They can get super busy and overwhelmed at peak times, so be patient and ready to wait if need be. If you're dining in be sure to order the wood fired cheese which is like a fondue for dipping bread fingers – it's super delicious and not available take away.
World F — Google review
The best focaccia I’ve ever had is here. The pizza was also damn good - the dough here is exceptional and hard to beat. I’d happily travel 3 hours from Melbourne just to come back here for the Wood fired cheese and focaccia. As a foodie from Melbourne, I don’t think I’ve had anything quite like it (seems so simple yet so difficult to find). The wood fire cheese was mixed in with honey and walnuts so it was creamy and balanced. Paired with the wood fired focaccia, it was a pair to die for. Will absolutely return. Kudos to the kitchen.

Visitors can enjoy filling breakfast options like scrambled eggs with bacon and mushrooms, as well as healthy choices such as avocado toast and poached eggs. Live fast is a great little cafe … the best in my opinion in Halls Gap. We had a late lunch here on a Friday afternoon. Sat out on the balcony and were most entertained by the familiar wildlife. They seemed to be trained for photo opportunities! I love the lights inside too.

I ordered the Smashed Avocado ($22) with an added egg ($3) and really enjoyed it. The flavours were fresh and well balanced, and the thick toast was a perfect base crispy on the outside and soft inside. If you’re staying in Halls Gap or just passing through, I’d definitely recommend stopping by for a bite.

Me and my friend visited this lovely café right in Grampians town, and it was such a nice experience. The person there was super welcoming and friendly. We had a chicken burger that was absolutely delicious — it came with fries, and we also ordered a bowl of fries that was a huge portion and really tasty. The café even has Wi-Fi, which was a nice bonus. Overall, the food, the service, and the atmosphere were all excellent. Definitely worth stopping by!

Such a great little cafe set in a beautiful place. We both had the eggs Benedict with a hash brown and a coffee. Definitely in my top 3 ever eggs Benny. So tasty. The sourdough bread was this and fresh, as we're the eggs. The has brown was clearly not your typical frozen and fried type. I highly recommend this place, if you're in the area. The team are so very friendly as well. A truly relaxing and enjoyable experience.

The barramundi mains exceeded my expectations, the skin had a lovely crust and fish moist & the parsnip puree and sautéed vegetables went really well together. One of the rare times I'd be willing to pay 28 AUD in dining out haha. My husband loved his shakshouka and added on chorizo, but given the big portion he regretted it lol tho he's usually a big eater. The cappuccino was amazing- fragrant aroma, rich creamy milk and nice chocolate notes and the best I've had in this trip & same for my husband where it's on par or even better than Patricia's in the CBD. Really appreciate the warm ambience and friendly staff esp Justin and Oliver! :) Do note that the kitchen closes 1 hour ahead of closing ie 3pm, we didn't know and came at 2.55pm so were lucky

Restaurant
Paper Scissors Rock Brew Co is a local institution in Halls Gap, offering a delightful combination of food and brews. It's conveniently located near the information center, making it a popular choice for visitors. The menu features mouthwatering options like fried chicken burger, pork belly, beer paddles, wings, bruschetta and croquettes. The ambiance is friendly and inviting with an option to share tables with other patrons. The staff are known for their exceptional service and hospitality.
Stellar beer, good food, and great atmosphere. Started off with a beer paddle and some food and stayed for more beer. 👌 Loved every beer we tried. The standouts for me were the Dark Vader, Red 67, and the Blood Orange Sour. The food was very good. My burger was perfect, and my partner's Schnitzel was too. We bought some take-aways - the cheesecake Sour was delicious (yes, I love sours) and the Red 67. We didn't buy enough as it disappeared very quickly 😂
Kaz B — Google review
Paper Scissors Rock Brew Co is definitely worth a visit if you enjoy craft beer. They have an excellent selection of freshly brewed beers on tap, and the tasting paddle for $20 is a fantastic way to try a variety of styles before settling on your favorite. The food was tasty as well – I had a burger that hit the spot after a long day of hiking in the national park. However, one drawback was that the kitchen didn’t seem to pay much attention to cooking preferences. We ordered two burgers: one medium and one medium-rare, but all of them came out well-done. Luckily, the flavor was still good, and we were hungry enough to enjoy it, but it’s something that really needs improvement. Overall, I’d give this place 4 stars today. The beer alone makes it worth visiting, and the food has potential, but if the team doesn’t start paying closer attention to customer requests, the rating could easily drop next time.

First night at Halls Gap, decided on this place for dinner and beer. Good beer on the tap and ordered Barramundi with side salads. Fish were deliciously fresh and juicy, lightly crumb and beautiful salad. Chips were great too, crispy. Love it!

What a great way to start our two night Hall's Gap stay. Easy atmosphere to relax into and sample some brew with a good range of snacks and meals to choose from. The charcuterie board was the perfect choice for us that night as we were not too hungry but still managed to clean up the generous serve for two. The only problem we had was wanting to try all eight brews... And at $20 for a paddled selection of four it was only too easy to just buy two paddles and go for it! I'm not a big drinker so would've loved a smaller serve as I hate to waste. So even though I left not walking entirely straight it was definitely a fun time I do not regret. And couldn't leave without buying a "growler"... Much to my partners delight, a 1.8L big brown bottle of your favourite brew to take home and refill.
SJ G — Google review
Loved it here, visited twice over a long weekend as they had multiple delish vegan and gluten free items. We had the pumpkin arancini (pictured below), sweet potato salad with tofu and chips all of which were great. The Dark Vader stout was really yum as well. Friendly, efficient service and an awesome playlist!

Straight-up high-quality pub fare, and excellent beer on tap! We had a chicken schnitzel with salad, and a beef burger plate and a normal beer at lunch today. Happy to recommend the lot! The team handles food allergies admirably. Do go there!

Great little bakery. It’s not a cafe, there’s no seating, but plenty outside so not an issue. Got a really nice pain au chocolat and a ham and cheese sandwich. Great price and tasted exactly how they were meant to. Bang on guys!!! 😎👌

At Halls Gap Bakery, the veggie pastie contained a typical mix of vegetables including peas, potato, and corn, providing a familiar and comforting taste. It had a good amount of filling. The sausage roll was enjoyable. They offer a standard selection of desserts typical of country town bakeries. The jam donut was overly sweet and somewhat greasy. The various salad rolls looked delectable. Service was generally friendly from the two young ladies working there. However, on a previous visit, the staff seemed grumpy, leading to a decision to leave and return another time.

Our stay at The Grand was great. The building is getting on a bit but everything that needed to worked just fine. They were extremely short staffed due to illness but the manager was dealing with the situation amazingly well and still gave us friendly service and was available when we needed extra towels etc. All in all it was 'cheap and cheerful' and just fine for our needs for two nights.

You book remotely at the moment. There is no one on site, and everything is done by sms for access codes. The place is clean and functional with easy access to town on foot. Place needs a lot of TLC, renovation, and staff on site to open bars and restaurants. I give her 3 stars as she is an old lady who has known better days and is still OK for a short stay. My wife and I were the only 2 people there for 2 nights, but at least it didn't end like "The Shining." It's definitely not the worst place I've stayed in.

DON’T BOOK with this hotel! Absolute SCAM! Most horrible hotel experience so far! If I could, I would give 0 stars! We arrived and checked in over the phone. What was suspicious about it was that they were surprised that we had a booking. They then allocated us a room and we collected our luggage. Once in the room, we realised that it simply hadn't been cleaned since the last guests. The beds were not made and used wet towels were lying around. The bathroom was also dirty. In general, the room was not very clean. We then tried to contact the hotel again by phone - of course, nobody was available anymore. After four weeks without any response from the hotel and no refund yet, we are now looking into our legal options.

This place needs a lot of love and care. The room was not very clean (carpet quite gross). See the photos. The service was good. We got an upgrade, but the room I would have stayed in was worse than what I just mentioned. However, the location is excellent. Probably about the cheapest place in Halls Gap. But I don't think I will come back again.

To start this off, the staff I dealt with were lovely. There is so much potential in this stay, but we can't deny the obvious of the building. Its old, it has a homey feel but it definitely needs some work. There are renovations happening which is a good sign. Its in a perfect location. If you aren't going to be in your rooms for much of your stay if recommend. I think its a bit pricey for what you get. Lights didn't work, what I booked didn't match the room I was given. There's a cool communal area but it can be inconvenient if people stay up late being noisy as for the rooms next to it. I'm glad a bought ear plugs as I could hear the next room snoring as the walls are paper thin. Like I said, perfect location and heaps of potential to the place and I'm sure over time it will get there.

One of the worst place we have ever stayed at! The place needs to be knocked down, not renovated The rooms were in an abysmal un-renovated state. The sliding door would only close if you locked the door. The outdoor porch/garden area to eat our breakfast was more weeds than plants The bathroom would make an episode on a home repair show happy. The toilet wasn't even stable to sit on??? No sound proofing mean that the band playing could be heard in all its "glory", then our delightful neighbours night time endeavours meant for a VERY interrupted sleep.

Very friendly staff, I recieved fantastic service and enjoyed my time spent here with my daughter. All the meals that others had ordered looked amazing. I should of got the lamb shank. Next time. Great for families, couples, singles and friends, nice feel outside. Great views.

Sen Restaurant is a recommended dining option attached to the Country Plaza Halls Gap. It offers delicious Vietnamese cuisine with reasonable prices and well-maintained surroundings. The customer service is welcoming, and it would be great if they could add breakfast to their menu in the future. Overall, Sen Restaurant provides a satisfying dining experience for guests of the hotel and nearby visitors, with its tasty food and attentive staff.
A good dining for the guests of Country Plaza hotel and nearby others. Reasonable price, good food, neatly maintained. Customer service is also welcoming. At the moment they are not serving breakfast but it would be great if they could do so.

Can’t tell if it’s authentic or not as I’m not Vietnamese, but definitely decent food, and good service too. Highly recommended! A bit difficult to find the restaurant, it’s not in the main street but hides inside a caravan park.

Waiting for nearly 1 hr to serve the food, the pho was worst ever, the soup just like water, have no any taste. We complained to staff, but we wait for over 30 mins for coming to solve this because they r too busy for serve other guests who just walking in.

A perfect post-hike meal - authentic, delicious Vietnamese food. The combination pho was amazing!

Delicious! Recommended! Attached to the Country Plaza Halls Gap. We came across this restaurant when we checked in. Once we got our check in sorted and our bags in the room, we returned for dinner. The food was delicious. Not a huge wait. Vietnamese, in case that wasn't clear. I'd definitely go back again if I was in the area. The pork was particularly yum.

During a visit to the Grampians for a weekend away, my partner & I figured we would check out the local Vietnamese restaurant. The Vietnamese dish "pho" is our favourite go-to for eating out, so as you can imagine were very excited to discover there was one so close by. As far as pho goes, the cost was on the high side, which we definitely don't mind if it's delicious pho... The issue was that it wasn't delicious and the portion was the smallest we've ever recieved. Now in my opinion what makes a great pho is fresh ingredients which didn't seem to be the case... The beef that tasted as though it was old and had been defrosted, the chilli oil was bone dry, all the usual side condiments (bean shoots, basil and lemon) was added during the cooking or missing, the noodles were ALL broken and clumped which neither of us had seen before. Lastly the flavor of the broth ranked quite low if not the lowest from personal experience. For regular pho goers, I'd suggest going a different dish or trying something new from the menu. On a positive note, staff were nice and the spring rolls were delicious!!

Went there for lunch. There is no atmosphere. No calm music or anything. Just the sound of other patrons and the cooks talking in the kitchen. The use of tissues for napkins is a ghastly concept. The menu is a mess. I presumed the Chef's specials would be a main, not an entrée. I ended up with two entrées instead of an entrée and a main. My partner ordered the pork belly but they were out so she had to compromise with stir fried pork. The pork was dry. The chicken and corn soup, and the Vietnamese pizza were good but the rest we could have done without. Overall it was a disappointing experience.
James S — Google review
We ordered the lemon chicken, bean with mongolian sauce and fried rice. The lemon chicken was delicious but a bit disappointed with the fried rice and found it a little too bland. Ordered the beef with mongolian sauce but had to change my order when they informed me at pick up that they ran out of the sauce. Settled with the black bean sauce and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Outdoor Activities
Nestled at the base of the stunning Grampians mountain ranges, Halls Gap Zoo offers an enriching experience with over 160 species of native and exotic mammals, reptiles, and birds. This regional zoo is perfect for families, featuring animal encounters and endangered species breeding programs. The wheelchair-friendly 2.
Halls Gap Zoo is truly one of the best zoos in Victoria! The spacious layout provides plenty of room for the animals, which makes for a more natural and relaxed environment. One of the highlights of the visit was being able to feed and touch the friendly deers. The zoo has a wide range of animals, and we were able to see most of the iconic Australian wildlife, including kangaroos, koalas, wombats, and emus, along with many exotic species from around the world. It’s clear the animals are well cared for, and the enclosures are thoughtfully designed. What made the experience even better was that it wasn’t crowded. We could take our time at each exhibit without feeling rushed or surrounded by large groups. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the time spent there and would highly recommend a visit to anyone traveling through the Grampians region!

This is my favourite zoo I’ve ever been to! I’ve visited multiple times, and each time is the happiest day with such fun memories and many great photographs! The animals are so friendly, if I wait around a bit they always come up close! It’s also nice that they sell animal food at entry, it helps make all the creatures love you!
Sharnie D — Google review
We stumbled upon the zoo during our visit to the Grampians. The animals are well cared for with spacious enclosure to roam around. The close encounter for a fee is well worth it. We opted for the red panda encounter and it's the best $100 spent for 15 mins of close encounter of possibly the cutest animal on earth. Mo, the red panda, was very friendly and walked around us for photo opportunities in exchange of apple treats. The zoo keeper is knowledgeable and take good care of him. Caution though that their claws aren't retractable so might be best to ask for a blanket to put over your knees to avoid getting unintentionally scratched. Other animals are healthy and happy looking. The wombat was sun bathing upside down!!
Nopparat Y — Google review
Whilst it’s not a Melbourne zoo it’s still worth the visit, there is a lot of walking so be prepared for that. It’s expensive and found it strange even having options for single and 2 kids rather than just a family deal. Other than that a reasonable selection of animals and fairly well maintained exhibits

Totally surprised. Unsure if we wanted to visit with my son's family. Took the risk - it was amazing. Much, much bigger than you would think. Amazing animals and habitats. Our grandchildren were captivated. A fantastic attraction - under rated and unknown?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Incredible Experience at Halls Gap Zoo From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by how beautiful and welcoming this zoo is. A special shoutout to the lovely young lady at the front desk her warm smile and wonderful help set the tone for the day. The girl working in the food van was absolutely incredible friendly, efficient, and so lovely to chat with. And to the amazing keepers who guided us through the most unforgettable Rhino experience wow! Their knowledge, passion, and care for these magnificent animals made it truly magical. Getting up close and learning about the rhinos was something we’ll never forget. Halls Gap Zoo is a credit to everyone who works there. It’s not just a zoo, it’s an experience full of heart, beauty, and incredible people. Highly recommend to everyone! 🦏✨monique and Nathan

What a great little zoo. So many different animals to see. Enjoyed being able to buy food to feed some of the animals. I loved that it was one continuous path around the zoo. A small little canteen available for food options, otherwise a number of tables along the way to stop if you bought your own food.
Tracey F — Google review
I didn’t plan on visiting the zoo whilst visiting the Grampians/Halls Gap, however I couldn’t help myself after reading the reviews. It is absolutely amazing there! The animals appear to be well looked after and loved, they all have more than suitable enclosures and then you’ve got the free roaming animals which makes it feel so different to most zoos. I would definitely make another trip here just to go to this zoo, hopefully next time I plan ahead and can try out the animal experiences. Not as many animals as mainstream zoos, however the circuit walk, being able to hand feed and get up close & personal with the roaming animals, and the fact that the animals in enclosures there seem genuinely happy makes up for that factor. Be mindful of the deer ambushing you for the feed though! 😂

The Halls Gap Hotel Restaurant is the go-to spot for dine-in options in Halls Gap, with limited alternatives due to staff shortages. Despite a wait time of 40 minutes for food, it's understandable considering the circumstances. The establishment boasts a spacious outdoor dining area offering stunning views of the mountains and frequent kangaroo sightings, creating an enjoyable atmosphere even for those seeking a casual drink and snack like chips. While the menu may not feature elaborate or exceptional dishes, they serve satisfying pub food.
Visited this place for the second time yesterday on my day trip to the Grampians. Great ambiance, Amazing customer service and Delicious food. We were able to secure the table near the windows and the view was really great. Enjoyed our food watching the Kangaroos having their meal in the garden. We will definitely visit this place again soon. Highly recommended for anyone who would like to have some traditional food with amazing natural views and great customer service, in the Grampians Region. Keep up the great work Team 😍👍

Went here for dinner with my family .I ordered the scotch fillet with chips and veg and peppercorn sauce. The steak was really nice and cooked well, the vegetables were delicious, the sauce was a little too creamy for my liking and overall was a fantastic meal. My dad ordered the lamb shanks and they looked fantastic. We’ve been here a few times and it’s always quality food and I definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the area. There is also a playground and big lawn area with outdoor seating which is nice. However, $16 for a jug of lemon squash was a bit extreme!

We visited Halls Gap Hotel during the AFL Grand Final long weekend and it was a fantastic experience! The atmosphere was perfect for families with kids, thanks to the indoor and outdoor playgrounds that kept the little ones entertained. The food came out quickly, and both the quality of the food and the service were excellent. We had a great time and will definitely be back!

Whilst staying at the nearby NRMA Caravan Park, we cycled to this pub for lunch on 2 occasions. Both times we were very happy with the service, the food and the beautiful views. For a quintessential Ozzie experience, with paddocks full of kangaroos and emus. Highly recommend!

We visited the hotel last Saturday, Grand Final Day. Wasn't super busy in the dining area, so lucky enough to get a table without a booking. Eaten there before and usually the food is pretty good. Very disappointed with this visit. Went to the bar to order a coffee (first one for the day). Proceeded to tell me you weren't making coffees as it was too busy. You got to be joking right. Enough time to stuff around with cocktails however you can't make a coffee. Not to mention you charge 10% extra for weekends and you can't get extra staff then to serve? Although you didn't need it as while we sat there having a very ordinary lunch. The bar wasn't even busy. Then you have the nerve to charge $14 for a garlic pizza which looks like it should have been on the kids menu. With plenty of better options in Halls Gap, we won't be back

What a great pub. So much outdoor space for the kids to play. Emus and roos running around nearby. Great food and friendly staff. Indoor playground was also a hit with the kids. Highly recommend this spot!

Holiday park
RV park
Halls Gap Lakeside Tourist Park is a laid-back resort with an outdoor pool, trampolines, and a cozy guest lounge featuring a fireplace. The park offers an amazing playground, kangaroo valley, heated pools, and various school holiday activities. The grounds are well-maintained with modern amenities including clean toilet and shower blocks with thoughtful touches like music. Additionally, there's a well-equipped camp kitchen, indoor/outdoor dining facilities, and two pools.
Such a great spot to bring the family! The facilities are excellent- the bathrooms are some of the cleanest I’ve ever experienced. The heated pool is fantastic and well enjoyed on our mid winter trip. Such beautiful scenery. Will definitely be making the 10 hour journey to stay here again

We travelled for 4 months around Australia and this was our favourite caravan park. Although it was fully booked/ it didn’t seem over crowded-we didn’t have to wait to use any of the public amenities- pool, showers, outdoor cooking. Set under a boulder embarkment, surrounded by Kangaroos- it still had a bush feeling. Wonderful friendly hosts, barista coffee- perfect for kids and adults.
Julia K — Google review
We had a great stay in our caravan over the school holidays. Facilities were clean, staff were friendly and helpful. We loved being able to get our coffee in the morning onsite. There is a large open space for the kids to play with kangaroos and emus close by. The heated pool and trampolines were a hit for the kids and they also really liked the school holiday scavenger hunt and colouring competition.

We camped at Halls Gap Lakeside Park. It was fantastic. We were greeted warmly on check in. The heated pool, heated bathroom, heated camp kitchen made the cold nights and mornings more bearable. All the facilities were clean and well maintained. The position just out of town was peaceful. Highly recommended, we will stay there again.

Had a wonderful stay here - very well run site with excellent facilities, helpful owner, gorgeous scenery and wildlife. Kids loved the bird feeding, pool and trampolines. Definitely plan to come back. Thank you!
Renee C — Google review
This caravan park is great. It's a caravan park we keep coming back to every time we just need a weekend away. The heated pool is just spectacular, and a real luxury to have especially in the freezing cold mornings. The facilities and bathrooms are very nice and modern, and are some of the best bathrooms you'll come across. It's a little outside of the town too which is actually quite lovely because of the peacefulness and it feels so private. Also, there are lots of kid friendly activities like playgrounds, trampolines, the pool + more. The only downside is the confusing layout. It's very hard to know where to go and where you can go. Other than that it's very family friendly, relaxing and modern. Definitely recommend when booking accommodation in halls gap.

We arrived late and received a text with all of our info. Got our park map and our accommodation marked out. We stayed in the safari tent which was perfectly appointed. The safari tent was so good, everything including the kitchen sink. The bathroom was really good too and loved the corrugated iron shower. The only improvement for our unit would have been a privacy screen on the deck to us the outside bath, I would of used it the way it was but the Mrs wasn’t keen. The park is really nice and it a credit to the team that operates it

My fiancé & i travelled from Adelaide through Great Ocean Road into Lorne, via Melbourne into The Grampians for one night. We stayed at Halls Gap Lakeside Tourist Park & it was a wonderful stay. Easy check in & great amenities. Felt more like a resort than a campsite due to the awesome toilet/shower block & camp kitchen. Very homey feel! Lots of friendly animals around & amazing views/look outs to check out during your stay. Will be returning 🏕️⛰️🏞️

Nestled in the scenic Grampians, Brambuk the National Park & Cultural Centre is a hub for exploring Aboriginal culture and the natural beauty of the area. Established in 1989, it offers interactive exhibitions, theater performances, and cultural workshops to showcase the indigenous history of the region. Visitors can also enjoy a bush foods cafe while learning about the traditional custodians of the land, including the Jadawadjali and Djab Wurrung peoples.
Amazing place to explore the rich Aboriginal heritage of the region. The exhibits are engaging, and the staff are incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming. A must-visit for anyone in Halls Gap—an experience that truly enriches your understanding of the local culture!

We were lucky to have weather that was lovely, although it was a bit cool and fresh, the sun was shining. A nice fresh winter's day. The kangaroos lazying in the sun, few Emu, and a kookaburra. Its a place I will return to for more adventures, during the summertime.

information center open, but cultural center/museum closed due to water damage(?). cafe was also closed. information center sells a number of nice and interesting souvenirs and local products. worth checking out, but probably only indeed the cultural center is open. walking through to a large grass patch after the cultural center found us a number of emus and a few kangaroos!

Cultural centre is closed. Info centre Cafe hasn't opened for years. Small giftshop. That's about it. Wetland walk is terrible and land is screaming out for Management. Wood, leaves and branches everywhere. Really disappointing as it used to be the highlight of the Grampians.

A must see/do experience whilst visiting the Grampians. The film is very entertaining with the history of the area, from many perspectives. The cafe & gift shop are a delight. Try the Lemon Myrtle Scones with a coffee.... unreal, delicious. A memorable experience.

I remember when this was being built and although it still looks good, some of the displays are getting tired, although the information is still good. Located just outside of Halls Gap you can walk or ride along well made paths. Inside is a small cafe where you can dine on fresh food and refreshments. Outside are some excellent interpretation boards that give a history of the area and the life prior to white settlement. The retail shop is extensive with lots of interesting items. There is plenty of parking under the shaded gums. The place is wheelchair friendly and in fact you can motor on your wheelchair from town to the centre. Very kid friendly with lots for the little ones to do. I would say you could spend at s minimum and hour here. There are tours available as well. Enjoy.

Boroka Lookout offers stunning views of mountain ranges, lakes, and plains from its cliffside viewing platforms. It serves as the starting point for a 12.4-km return walk and is also accessible via a medium-grade 9.6-km Wonderland Loop Track that includes Splitters Falls and the Pinnacle. Reeds Lookout, just a short drive away, provides easy access to breathtaking views with wheelchair-accessible paths.
A great lookout that offers views of the Halls Gap township and surrounding areas. Only about a 50m walk from the carpark, so suitable for all ages and abilities. The best time to go is probably earlier in the day, before the sun disappears over the mountains behind the lookout and casts shadows.

Great place and amazing view, only 1 minute walk near park, very convenient. The sign to here also very clear and easy to get. For those who don't like walk but wanna watch great view, here would be a best choice.
Johnny S — Google review
Speechless. Incredible lookout! It's a quick stroll to the lookout, you can see the lookout from the carpark! suitable for everyone of all abilities. If you want to go for a longer walk there are some more challenging trails surrounding the platform that allow you to take in the views. It's very high up so it's very cold, bring a jacket and some warm pants! Unless it's summer of course. I could stay up there for hours just taking in the view, a must see of the Grampians!

Amazing vista! There was a rock that was particularly tempting to sit on. You know. The kind where you sit on and dangle your legs that looks beautiful and dangerous. There was a person fell to death from that particular rock. Just letting you know :)
Phu L — Google review
On that rainy day, the viewing platform I had been so looking forward to visiting seemed draped in a delicate veil. Thick mist concealed the distant mountains and the horizon, turning what should have been a wide, open view into something hazy and unreal. In that moment, a touch of disappointment welled up in me, as though I had missed the chance to see the most beautiful painting. Yet, as the light rain tapped gently against the railing and the fog drifted slowly with the wind, a different kind of charm emerged—the world felt quiet and mysterious, like stepping into an unfinished ink painting. Although I wasn’t able to witness the vast and magnificent scenery I had hoped for, I could still sense the allure of nature. And perhaps it was this very incompleteness that became a new source of anticipation. In my heart, I made a quiet promise: next time, on a clear and sunny day, I will return to let this unfinished landscape find its perfect ending in my memory.

Guys, don’t miss this place! We actually planned to come for the sunrise but couldn’t make it, and still — it was absolutely beautiful. You can visit anytime of the day and it’s worth it. I’d say this is one of the best lookout points in the Grampians. It’s super easy to access, just a short two to three minute walk from the parking area, and there’s plenty of parking too. It’s also accessible for people with disabilities, which is great. Definitely one of the places I’d highly recommend!

Darcy's Stonegrill Licensed Restaurant offers an amazing dining experience with a variety of delicious meals. The aroma in the dining area adds to the anticipation of the flavorful dishes. The stone grill option is particularly recommended, providing a unique and enjoyable culinary experience. The professional and friendly service from David enhances the overall dining experience. While enjoying specials like porterhouse and slow-cooked pot pie, guests can appreciate the convenient location within walking distance from accommodation.
Amazing meals here. You can actually taste everyone else's food by the aroma in the dinning area. We tried the stone grill. And really loved it. Like the chef said its really amazing and quite an experience to be had. We loved our meals and looking around not only did the meals look delicious but smelt it too. Think we have found our new point of call on our get away to the grampians. Well done guys. And thanks for a great night and a delicious meal

Professional, friendly, honest service from David. We didn't order stonegrill, but enjoyed a porterhouse special and slow cooked pot pie special. Easy walk from our accomodation. Dimmer lighting would have made the ambience more intimate.

Attended Darcy’s Stone and grill this evening with my family to celebrate my birthday, we booked in advance and when arriving there was maybe 4 other customers there. We ordered our meals and waited and waited and waited, until about 2 hours later our food finally arrived. The food wasn’t great and we didn’t receive an apology for the food taking so long

Stone Grill was amazing. Very unique. Enjoyed cooking myself - got the mixed grill and added 3 Prawns. Was able to take the meat off when "medium" and place the veggies / potato to give them an extra boost. The 'generous' glass of Shiraz was appreciated. Although not a dessert person, I tried the Cold Rock and sorbet... Was a light / delicate way to finish my evening (and my taste buds appreciated it). Definately recommend and well done to the restaurant owners for choosing the Hot / Cold rock to differentiate from surrounding restaurants.

$38 and you have to cook the steak YOURSELF, "we won't cook it for you". This stonedine or hot rock cooking at the table belongs in the 80's. The lamb cutlets, they came a little over done and dry, the taste made up my the spicy dressing. Slightly awkward end to the evening, at 9pm we are the only people in the restaurant. The two staff stared us down until we left, I'm not sure they like people.

I never write bad reviews, but here we go! Avoid this place, spent $38 on a steak and mushroom sauce and in return I spent the whole night laying beside my toilet with food poisoning! Absolutely destroyed the last days of my holiday!

Poor service, waitress seemed half asleep and no care factor whatsoever, ordered on being seated and waited almost an hour before walking out with no meal, no explanation or communication at all. The other 4 occupied tables also waiting and complaining between themselves. Not really what one wants to experience after driving the distance to get there! Terrible and downright disappointing.

Nestled in the heart of Halls Gap, the Halls Gap Tavern is a delightful spot that invites both locals and visitors to unwind and enjoy some quality time together. This charming venue offers a relaxed atmosphere where families, friends, and travelers can gather for a meal or drink while soaking in the stunning surroundings. With its inviting bar/bistro setup, it caters to all tastes without pretension—just good old-fashioned pub grub at great value.
Had dinner here. Really nice environment. Fresh food. The parma will be upgraded from new year onwards to a chicken breast this is processed so lacks a bit but should be a LOT better. The barramundi was delicious and well cooked. Great for family event or just a date night. Good pub food for all seasons. The kookaburras will come down and visit you outside.

I'm wondering how it's possible this place has good reviews (well, any reviews actually) within the last 6 months as it's been mostly closed. It had some guests stay during Grape Escape weekend and they reported horrifying conditions and jacked up prices. This venue is a blight on our community and is in dire need of new management.

**How to Tank a Once-Thriving Business in a Tourist Town (In Just a Few Easy Steps!)** Step 1: Keep taking online bookings even though the place appears abandoned. Step 2: Make sure there are *zero* staff —mystery builds character. Step 3: Let the front garden go full jungle mode. Bonus points if guests need a machete to find the front door. Step 4: Don’t bother with electricity. Who needs lights anyway? Step 5: Remove the strike plate from the door so it doesn’t lock. Add a subtle sense of danger—very edgy. Step 6: Don’t even *think* about the bedding. If you look too closely, you might see the ghost of better days. We took one look and left. The only thing this place is good for now is filming a low-budget horror movie.

This pub has been closed for well over 6 months now. Interesting to see they're still getting 5 star reviews for food when they dont serve any 🤔. Have heard lots of horror stories about the accommodation from tourists.

Thank you for accommodating us. The lady is lovely and the chef added an extra portion as we waited a bit longer. We didn’t mind as we like the atmosphere. The fish and chips great not greasy!

Very busy but we got brilliant service still. The kids meals were out as quick as they could, the staff were funny and entertaining. The food was simple but absolutely delicious. And the atmosphere was very welcoming. I'd definitely come back. Thank you staff

The food was awesome. Had ordered the chicken Parma, lamb shanks and grilled barramundi. The shanks and barramundi were simply awesome and would think it to be their signature dishes. The restaurant manager was so friendly and a pleasure to chat with! And it was lovely to meet the chef, a truly kind and hardworking person! Would definitely love to visit again.

Beautiful place to sit and have a beer after a long hike, in the middle of town and food is pretty good as well. Staff are top tier definitely worth walking in if you’re in the area! Beautiful seats in the sun or inside depending on weather. Highly recommend - Charlie and Chelsie are legends

Day 3

Northwest side of town
For day 3, we recommend exploring the northwest side side of town. Start the day off with Pinnacle Lookout, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Halls Gap Visitor Information Centre. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Pinnacle Lookout, located in Halls Gap VIC 3381, Australia, is a must-visit spot in the Grampians. The viewpoint offers stunning panoramic views of the valley, mountain range, and lake. It's accessible via Northern Grampians Road and is open 24 hours daily. The hike to the lookout is described as breathtaking and mesmerizing, with rocky terrain that can be slippery at times.
I spent the day in the Grampians and it was by far such a great day trip and was so memorable with myself and my friend ! The pinnacle lookout is something you should definitely do however I would recommend hiking shoes and a hiking pole which I’m quite happy I was well prepared and equipped for the hike ⛰️🥾The simplicity in nature is so striking- The 4 hours spent hiking was definitely a challenge in itself but was so rewarding . Please be mindful that the hike becomes extremely difficult as you’re getting closer to the top as there is unsteady rocks where you have to get on all fours and legitimately crawl up on top and lift yourself up so if you don’t have great upper body strength or you’re not physically fit please bear this in mind . There are very many steep steps. There is no railing and there are metal and rock steps to take you up as well as flat surface ground but just be quite weary and cautious of your surroundings because it isn’t a wide pathway. It is quite thin so try to pack light and just bear this in mind as well . I would do this hike in a heartbeat. I absolutely loved it and it was a thrill of a time and the view is so breathtaking. I started the hike at 1:30 pm and I had finished the hike at 5:40 pm when I had reached the bottom and was welcome to by all the kangaroos in the Halls gap caravan park . The hike is a four hour duration so just try to make it down before sundown because it would be quite hard to make it down once it’s dark as you need visibility and sunlight ⛰️🌄I definitely felt like I was like on top of the world after hiking the 15,781 steps reach the top🥾⛰️

I’m so glad we made the effort to complete the hike to Pinnacle Lookout while visiting the Grampians. The trail itself offered a great mix, there were stretches that felt quite easy and enjoyable, but also several moderate sections that gave us a real challenge. It was a good balance of effort and reward, and by the time we reached the top, the sense of achievement was something special. The lookout is absolutely stunning. From the Pinnacle you are treated to sweeping views across Halls Gap, the valley below, and the surrounding mountain ranges. On the day we went the weather was perfect, bright blue skies and clear visibility that allowed us to see as far as the eye could reach. The scenery was breathtaking, and it instantly became one of the highlights of our entire trip. Our hike up and back was around 10km, starting from the main car park in Halls Gap and looping back again. It took a few hours at a steady pace, but every step was worth it. Along the way, the changing terrain, rocky outcrops, and dramatic cliffs kept things interesting. Silent Street was another highlight, but the Pinnacle itself was the ultimate reward. We also helped one another through some of the steeper sections, which made it a great team experience. If you are in Halls Gap, this is without doubt a must-do activity. The views alone will stay with you long after your visit.

The Hiking trip to the Pinnacle Lookout was really a great experience for us. We took the medium to high terrain which is from the Wonderland Carpark going via Grand Canyon, Cool Chamber, Bridal Veil Falls, and Silent Street. It was told the time to get there was around 40 minutes to an hour but since we stopped on many locations to enjoy the views of the beautiful Grampians ranges, we took nearly two hours to get to the top, and the trip was really worth. Weather to go is very important as it will definitely affect the hiking ability of the individual. You also need to carry some snacks and drinking water to refresh yourself on the way. It is one of the best hikes in Victoria for most abilities. There are some other easier options for people who find this a bit challenging. I highly recommend this Pinnacle Lookout to anyone who is looking for your next adventure, not far too far from Melbourne.
Jyju J — Google review
Absolutely the best walk with scenery I've done. I was lucky enough to be dropped at Sundial carpark and walked through to Wonderland carpark. The walk from Sundial to Pinnacle is the easier walk and lest steep with the so I recommend travelling that way if you want to see everything. Took this 130kg guy 2 1/2 hrs to walk through with plenty of stops for photos and to rest and take in the scenery. A very challenging walk with plenty of high steps, rocks and embankments and can be quite slippery in places with water and sand on sections.
Mark S — Google review
We went to the Pinnacle Lookout on a beautiful day, and the weather was just perfect for the walk. The views from the top are absolutely stunning and totally worth the effort. But here’s my suggestion — go early in the morning or later in the evening. We went during the day, and it got really hot, especially on the way up. The trail is a bit tiring, so bring some water and wear good shoes. Overall, it’s a must-visit spot if you’re in the Grampians — beautiful scenery, peaceful surroundings, and a great sense of achievement once you reach the top.
Aksa T — Google review
One of the best walks I think we have done. The walk from Wonderland car park is about 2.1km up to Pinnacle lookout through the Grand Canyon. Well worth the walk. Took about 1 hr each way taking it easy.
Dan — Google review
We walked to the Pinnacle Lookout from Sundial Carpark as it was deemed the easier option, not the “easy” option. Glad we chose this, as it suited our fitness level perfectly. It pushed us but didn’t destroy us! Very fun combination of flat ground, rock walking and various terrain. It made the walk interesting. Towards the end, the incline increased but the destination was sure worth it! In total it took us approximately 2-2.5 hours return with plenty of breaks!
Piper H — Google review
Moderate hike, really fun but might not be for everyone. Choose sundial for convenience and for an easier route (it is the one we picked), if you are looking for a scenic route, opt for the wonderland route. Some parts are difficult, such as the start, when climbing steeps rocks, which can be really hard to maneuvre through. Be careful at the end aswell, as there are crevaces in the rock which can be hard to ser. View at the end is amazing. Allow for 3 hours, as you will want to spend time at the top and take pictures on the way. Be caureful of where you step as some rocks can be sliperry. View at the end is beautiful though!

Restaurant
The Views Restaurant in Halls Gap offers a dining experience with breathtaking panoramic views of the Grampians. Whether you're enjoying a hearty breakfast or an elegant dinner, the restaurant provides a range of delicious cuisine options to satisfy every palate. While the big breakfast may not be as large as expected, it comes with a continental buffet, offering value for money. The restaurant's intimate location and helpful staff contribute to a lovely dining experience, despite potential delays due to limited kitchen staff.
We went as a classic car club with over 40 people and this is a motel punching above its weight. The meals were delicious and prompt. The service and hospitality was fantastic. It is an old motel that is clean with magnificent views and management and staff cannot do enough for you. Terrific.

We just had a wonderful dinner here with my boyfriend. When we arrived, the kitchen had already closed due to no bookings or walk-ins on a Saturday night — which is such a shame because both the food and service are absolutely amazing. Michael (who I believe is the manager) kindly asked the kitchen if they could still serve us, and thankfully they agreed. Honestly, we had read some mixed reviews beforehand and didn’t have high expectations ( that's why we didn't take any photos) — we were simply looking for the closest place to grab a meal, as we were staying nearby for two nights. But we were pleasantly surprised! We ordered the Vegetarian Pizza ($19.50) and the Creamy Prawn Fettuccine ($26), and both dishes were fantastic. The pizza was generously topped and, instead of a traditional tomato base, it used sweet chilli sauce, which surprisingly worked really well and added a delicious twist. The pasta was exactly what I was craving on a cold night — rich, creamy, flavourful and packed with fresh, huge prawns. The portions were very generous and definitely great value for money. The menu isn’t huge, but it has all the essentials: pasta, rice dishes, stir-fry noodles, schnitzels, pizzas, and more. The restaurant itself is clean, spacious, and comfortable. It’s really unfortunate that they don’t have more guests, especially considering the motel was fully booked. But if you’re looking for somewhere cozy with hearty, comforting food and excellent service, I would absolutely recommend this place!

Really lovely meals, affordable prices, super helpful staff, great ambience and intimate location. The service can be a little slow, but that is due to there being only 1 person in the kitchen. The chef is lovely, so wonderfully helpful. I am vegan and she went out of her way to assist me and create meals off menu so that I had something to eat. The dinners are really good. The breakfast is a little meager - tasty, but you do not get much for your money (breakfast only, can not complain about the dinners at all). Would definitely go back here for dinner!

Ordered the big breakfast. It wasn't big but it was nice... Very ordinary food presented well: one rasher bacon, one sausage, hash brown, beans, two eggs on a grilled piece of bread. The breakfast does come with the continental buffet- cereals, toast, fruit salad, yoghurt, juice, tea and coffee so the value is there. The restaurant does have great views of the mountains and wildlife. Not as fancy as it might be trying to be but a good place attached to the hotel.

We came here because nothing else appeared to be open in Halls Gap. A few kms out from town on the right, a long driveway leads you to the motel / restaurant. Watch out for the kangaroos as they are plentiful at dusk. So are the sulphur created cockatoos that perch on the buildings and in the trees with their iconic ‘squack’. The restaurant is a good size and had about 4 tables either guests. Between the four of us we ordered the lamb rack, the pork belly, the steak and a chicken parma. Not cheap, starting at $28 for the parma but the food was very good, the portion sizes generous and the food was prepared relatively quickly. Wine and beer list quite comprehensive. Wouldn’t have the house white - found it somewhat bland. Staff were good and very helpful and generous. Happy for us to split the bill. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Good parking out the front. I’d certainly return again so explore more of the menu.

The Town Fryer is a popular spot in Halls Gap known for its consistently delicious fish and chips. Recently under new management, the menu has been updated, but the quality remains top-notch. Visitors rave about the fresh and crispy flathead fish and generous portions of chips. The friendly staff and reasonable prices make it a great dining option in the area.
Do you want to have a delicious, quick lunch? If yes, this is the best place to visit. This cafe is located in the heart of Halls Gap and has a huge variety of food options (including healthy ones) and nice atmosphere. The staff is super friendly and the service is very quick. Stop by here before we are visiting to Mackenzie fall. Our intentions is to trying the local fish & chip. We have ordered 1 BBQ chicken pizza and 1 set of fish & chip. Personally, I don't find any special about both dishes but at least the fish is still soft after fried. We comparing with other restaurants, their serving is consider small. Nice to have a warm food when in winter.

Ordered Chicken Parma (a must-try) and fish and chips here. Absolutely loved the fish and chips! The fish was super fresh with the crispiest batter, and the chips were golden and tasty. Portions are big enough to fill you up, and the staff are so warm and welcoming. If you’re nearby, definitely treat yourself – you’ll be glad you did!

My partner and I have been staying at the Grampians for a week and over the week have visited this local fish and chip shop a few times and it it by far the best we have been to. Friendly customer service, very happy place to be. Food is amazing, fried takeaway and eat in both beautiful. Visit if you can the workers are amazing and do such a good job!

Very recently under new ownership, the owners and staff are absolutely lovely, and work very hard without letting it be seen they're under pressure. We dined two nights in a row over Melbourne cup weekend. Its a busy cafe style restaurant, especially with the weather being quite wet and cold. The wait times were longer than your typical fast food, but expected. Night one we had fish and chips. A little disappointing as it was oily, and the batter had cracked pepper in it (quite unusual). The serves are plentiful and it is all cooked fresh to order. Night two we ordered a pizza and a parma. Both absolutely delicious, not dry, not oily, and very tasty... again we couldnt finish our meals, the serves are big. We will definitely return on our next visit! Grab a seat by the window or even outside, you can watch the kangaroos hop through the park across the road for their evening snack of grass!

If I could give 6/10 I would. We got hot chocolates and a soy latte, accompanied by muffins after a cold rainy afternoon. Last night we tried a different pizza store and wish we went here instead, blergh to the service! Anyway, what lovely hospitality from the owners/staff at The Town Fryers. Not only with us but the entire venue and all their customers. My little one decided after begging for a hot chocolate that she didn’t want one anymore, it was no problem for them to give it to her takeaway and added extra marshmallows. Would choose to go back here any day simply to support these lovely people.

The Grand Canyon in Halls Gap offers a picturesque and rocky gorge experience within the Grampians National Park. The hour and a half walking tour starts at the Visitor Centre and ends at the historical society, where visitors can explore photography and articles. This place holds sentimental value for many, evoking feelings of awe and wonder amidst the towering rock formations. Walking alongside a river from Wonderland Car Park to the stairs provides stunning views, with an added waterfall attraction.
The Grand Canyon is an amazing spot to stop by while hiking to the Pinnacle Lookout. The views are absolutely picturesque, with incredible rock formations that are a true wonder to see up close. It’s a must-visit if you’re exploring the area, especially if you enjoy hiking and natural beauty. This place is an unforgettable part of the Grampians experience!

We had great experiences in the Grand Canyon area. Beautiful geographic. Walking course level is beginner to medium level. If you go there during the summer, bring enough water to keep hydrate. I saw some visitors with sandles but I strongly recommend to wear good grip shoes. Car park is quite limited better to start in early morning. Highly recommend this walking truck. It take around 2 hours to return from wonderland car park to pinnacles.

The Grampians National Park was surprisingly gorgeous! If you are not into hiking, Grand Canyon is a great option as it is just 5 minutes from the Wonderland car park. Walking up the Grand Canyon is 10 minutes to the top so it is a quick stop, but very worth it. The views are gorgeous!

The scenery is absolutely stunning, but it is not suitable for the elderly or young children, as it can be somewhat dangerous ⚠️. The canyon is awe-inspiring in its grandeur and majesty. Its steep cliffs display layers of color under the sunlight, like a massive painting carved by nature over millions of years. The canyon is deep and mysterious, with a stream winding through it, its waters echoing against the cliffs like nature’s whisper. Standing within it, looking up at the towering walls that reach the sky and down into the winding, profound depths below, one’s soul is deeply moved by the canyon’s power and magnificence, experiencing the unparalleled artistry and pure beauty of nature.
Leo L — Google review
Quick but a steep walk. 100 metres from the wonderland car park. Low to moderate level effort with many boulders. At some points it's tricky to find the path, but you get there. Lots of boulder hopping in the canyon. Loved it.
Aaron H — Google review
This captivating image unveils a hidden gem, a secluded ravine embraced by towering rock formations. The sheer, rugged cliffs, etched with time and weather, rise majestically, their layered textures and earthy hues creating a mesmerizing spectacle. The ravine, a narrow passage carved through the heart of the mountains, beckons with its promise of adventure and discovery. The sunlight, filtering through the rocky walls, casts a soft, ethereal glow upon the scene, highlighting the intricate details of the rock's surface. A touch of verdant life clings to the rocks, adding a splash of vibrant green to the otherwise monochromatic landscape. These hardy plants, defying the harsh environment, symbolize nature's resilience and its ability to thrive even in the most challenging conditions. This is a place where time stands still, where the echoes of the past resonate through the ancient rocks. It's a sanctuary for those seeking solitude and a connection with the raw, untamed beauty of nature.

Halls Gap Visitor Information Centre is situated in the heart of Grampians National Park, surrounded by stunning mountain peaks. The town center offers a variety of cafes and tourist shops along Stony Creek, with Halls Gap Picnic Reserve just across the road. On the way to Lake Bellfield, visitors can find a cafe, visitor center, and cultural center.

Very ordinary experience. I'm bringing up to 25 people into the town in a couple of months and called to see if they could give us some information packs. Was told to just go online. Upon further enquiry found they do have a map of the area for sale for $4. Can I get some free maps then please.....no...they are $4. Can't help you any further. While the lady wasn't rude she was just plain unhelpful and uninterested in trying to help me in my way. Great welcome to the town 🙄

The Halls Gap Visitor Information Centre is the perfect starting point for anyone spending time in the Grampians. Conveniently located right on the main street in Halls Gap, the centre provides a wealth of resources that make planning your trip easy. Inside you’ll find shelves full of brochures, maps, and guides covering everything from walking trails and waterfalls to local restaurants, cafés, wineries, and accommodation. There are also displays highlighting the natural and cultural heritage of the region, which add some great context before heading out to explore. What stood out most for us was the staff, knowledgeable, approachable, and always happy to share tips on the best lookouts, family-friendly activities, or hidden gems you might otherwise miss. They answered our questions thoroughly and even suggested a few lesser-known hikes that turned out to be highlights of our trip. The visitor centre itself is modern, clean, and well laid out, with clear maps of the surrounding area and up-to-date event listings. If you’re planning to spend a few days (or longer) in the Grampians, I’d highly recommend stopping in here first. It’s the best way to make sure you’ve ticked off all the key points of interest and are fully prepared to enjoy everything this stunning region has to offer.

We walked into the information centre as google maps took us to a residential property when we wanted to visit Silent Street and Pinnacle Lookout 😆 Tim at the information centre was very helpful in showing us various hiking ways to get to Pinnacle Lookout and Silent Street. He also shared various other lookout points and ways to get to it. He shared various maps for lookouts and hiking trails, and brochures of activities that we can do around Grampians from the Adevture Mini Golf game for families to various cafes and restaurants, and local farm products. Visit this information centre to get a wealth of information from a local resident before you plan your next day , so you don't miss out on the hidden gems while you are at Grampians 🫠

Good place to start the day, clean bathrooms, a tap to fill water bottles and information on the area. The only negative is that there is little freely available information on which walks you can do, the starting point for the walks and the distance of each. You can buy a map eith this information for $3.5,or take a look at the large map on on the wall which lists the names of the walks then google the rest of the information. Reading through Google reviews tells you about all there is to learn from the $3.5 brochure.
