It's the small tourist stop you do either on the way to Victoria or New South Wales It's sad to see the shoo all closed up and the statue looking a little worse for wear. Still a good stop to stretch our legs, however. You can buy farm-fresh apples from a shed about 200 meters away from the Dog in the Sydney direction. If you drive towards the Olivers you can also have a photo with the big koala

Had a little stroll in the dog walking area. My pup loved it, & he even wanted to get on the original tucker box for a photo op! But, he's a bit of an escape artist & there were other dogs around, a freeway nearby, & way too many people and vehicles! So that didn't happen! We got close though, & a quick snap or 3! Good to see some works in progress with the new site for the old dog 🐕 mapped out on a billboard.

Have always wanted to go, I would say it’s 3.5 stars, I don’t know what we were expecting but my husband thought it would be bigger like this Koala that was also at the same spot? Westopped in Gundagai and then found dog on the tucker bog as we were leaving. Luckily there is two exits as we missed the 1st one. Lots of food places, not a lot of merchandise but it is currently about to be renovated. Friendly staff, it was good to see. There was also another good lookout on the other side of Gundagai that looked out over the whole town, worth the look if you are going through.

A nice spot to stop for a break from driving, the statue & fountain is as you’d expect.. good for a photo! I just think they should have water fountains for dogs. I saw a lot of dogs here so I’m surprised they didn’t.

Always a great stop, had to show my animal lover Canadian friends. Cafe attached currently closed for rebuild. Went to the healthy cafe next to fuel depot and bought a delightful healthy lunch.

Couple of the stores have changed here but the Oliver’s has good food + coffee along with a range of other local produce. There are charging stations behind - though I think they’re mainly tesla.

All service contact booking/check in/ check out was done online and all promises honoured and things worked well. Adjacent to CBD shops, attractions and hospitality. Clean comfortable and surprisingly quiet given proximity to Hume Hwy which provided a consistency of traffic sound. Well priced.

A great stop for an overnight stay. The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable and there was even an electric blanket on the bed for extra warmth. Check in was automated with a code that was sent to us before our stay. The motel was close enough to walk into town for a bite to eat and a drink. Would recommend and stay again.

It is a nice, simple, clean motel. Comfortable beds, jug, toaster, microwave, bowls & plates, cutlery, and glasses. Tea & coffee with milk and mugs and a small fridge. Shampoo, conditioner, shower wash, hand wash, nice towels, washers, and tissues. Air conditioning/heating. Small table and two chairs (might be nice to have a third chair as the room was able to accommodate three people), Out the front of each room there is a small table with two chairs as well. The car can be parked right out in front of your room, which makes packing/unpacking very easy. The doors have code locks, so there are no keys to misplace, and there is no need to go to the reception on arrival or departure. Walking distance to eating places, not far to get back onto the highway... We have always enjoyed our stays here.

Perfect for a stop on our drive from Sydney to Melbourne. Beds were comfy and we were so happy to have electric blankets on the beds. Had everything we needed for our family of five.

Close to town and club. Had a room with 1 large double. Room and bathroom very clean easy parking everyone friendly. Other family in family rooms very clean nil issues.

This is a great playground with lots of equipment. There are swings, climbing things, turning stands and a large frame to climb then slide from down the tunnels of various lengths. The flying fox has two sides - one with a round seat and the other has a cradle for smaller children. There are toilets nearby and when we visited there is something being constructed next to the playground.

Best place to stop with kids along the way to Sydney or Melbourne. Huge slides, large grassy area with room to play and eat. Great coffee nearby. Toilet facilities are reasonable (no soap). Plenty of parking.

Well maintained park and children's playground. 2 Nice BBQ areas with seatings. Missing restrooms which is a bummer. An excellent stop en route from Canberra to Albury/Melbourne, with nice restaurants nearby.

This is a great park with lots of play equipment to suit all ages that should definitely be stopped at on a long road trip. There's lots of shade, plenty of space to run around and there are public toilets within reach on the same block - these seemed to be well taken care of and in good condition.

This will a great place to park the van while we walked up the street to get an excellent coffee.

Gundagai has an amazing history and the town has had a big facelift. The old railway station, the bridges, the art deco shops, aboriginal history. Dad, Dave Ma and Mable statues are in the park. Take a break off the Hume and spend some time here. Really interesting.

Stopped over at Tian Chinese Restaurant on our family trip between Melbourne and Sydney based on the recent reviews of the changeover from the previous terrible Banjo Restaurant. Glad to say this was an improvement. Special Fried Rice and Wok Fried Noodles were great. Good flavours, nice mixture combinations of meats and prawns. However, Sweet Corn Soup and Dim Sims missed the mark and would not recommend to order. The soup was mainly just corn starch fluid without many ingredients. The Dim Sim texture was watery and soft. Overall, prices were reasonable for a country town,

We ate dinner in the Chinese restaurant. One of the wait staff was so rude to customers almost yelling at people telling them to hold their table numbers up so she could find the tables. Here’s a thought, number the tables like a normal restaurant! We shared an entree (which was still frozen in the middle) and two meals and then shared the bathroom for the rest of the night. Not a good experience at all. I give it two stars because the club staff were lovely and the beer was cold. We won’t be back. Eat here at your own peril.

This was a nice spot to pull off the motorway for lunch. We got a bit confused as to where to sit and order and the young lady at the bar was a bit rude when she told us "no food here, this is just a bar" and left us looking around for the signs that then directed us to the cafe and restaurant. It would have been nice for her to smile and point us in the right direction. Fortunately the restaurant staff were just lovely and the food was amazing. Well priced and fresh!! We grabbed a coffee from the cafe section when we left and it was also delicious and served with a smile.

Slowest service - more than an hour to get dinner after placing order. Cutlets were deep fried and very fatty. Ordered salad & got half cooked veges which couldn't be changed. Try the pub up the road!

Wish I had read reviews before choosing to dine here. On a Sunday night, a large club should be prepared to provide food for diners in a reasonable time. I ordered the sweet corn soup to help stave off my hunger after a long day's travel. After 50 mins, I asked where it was. It came out 10 mins later. It should be renamed corn starch onion soup! It took another 20 mins for my honey chicken on 'rice noodles ' to come, after again asking. There was a spoonful of noodles in a bowl of tough chicken. The staff didn't warn me on arrival of the delay and there were quite a few other diners who were also unhappy. No apology. Never again

I am sure on a regular night this is a great club. We went on a public holiday for dinner. The Chinese restaurant, ‘Tian’ was a 1 hour and 24 minutes wait. If you’re okay with that it was a delicious meal that was worth the wait. The food was hot, fresh and extremely tasty. I would highly recommend. Our meal was $60 (San Choy Bow, Mongolian beef and special fried rice)

I’ve visited The Coffee Pedaler twice now. The first time, both the food and coffee were really good, which made me want to come back. On my second visit, I ordered the same thing—eggs on toast—but the bread was burnt, which made it hard to finish. The coffee is still very good, especially for a small town, and the staff are lovely. Overall, it’s a good experience, but a bit more consistency with the food would make it even better.

We had a pleasant stop for lunch here. The focaccia was good, but the frittata was not - too watery. The cakes were drizzled with red stuff and fake cream. Not necessary. It was ok all up.

I’m currently exploring regional NSW with my Golden Retriever and rolled up to The Coffee Peddler in Gundagai — absolutely loved it! The staff were so welcoming, attentive, and even made my dog feel included. Great location right on the main strip, perfect for a stopover. The coffee and food was excellent, and the place had a buzzing, popular vibe when we visited for lunch. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in town!

This was a nice stop on the Sydney/Melbourne trek. The service was great. The coffee and croissant were tasty.

My second experience here was disappointing. The sign on the motorway says “Best coffee between Sydney and Melbourne.” That’s a very audacious claim and it certainly doesn’t live up to it. The coffee was just ordinary, nothing special. But whilst the food was very nice, I was more disappointed with the staff. We arrived at 1.15pm, and the cafe closes at 2pm. At about 1.45 they were noisely packing up tables and chairs around us, and when I ordered a coffee, they said it would have to be in a take away cup. We were still eating and they asked if they could take our plates! It just seemed like their priority was closing up rather than serving their customers. Someone came in just before 2pm wanting a sandwich from the display and they wouldn’t do it. If your closing time is 2pm, then you don’t shut things down until then! Opening hours seem early, from 6am to 2pm. 7-3 would serve most people better I feel. I’ll be trying a different cafe next time, sad to say.

Coffee didn’t disappoint. Used Bopple to order ahead, parking available right out front, made it super easy & quick to grab takeaways. Coffee snob of a husband was very impressed. Looks like a really nice cafe, if we’re ever coming past again would love to stop for a meal. Enjoyed driving through the Main Street of Gundagai.

Great P&R coffee but the food needs improving. $21.70 Avo & Feta said it had cherry tomatoes but it was more like one cherry tomato diced really small on the thinnest sourdough toast slice I’ve ever seen!! Didn’t say on the menu it had onion on it either but it did? Got a side of bacon which was so lightly cooked. Fryer was broken so no hash browns could be purchased. Gave an extra star for clean bathroom with a change table for babies.

We ordered two pies for a quick lunch but didn't enjoy it at all. Firstly, the sale lady was a bit unfriendly and inpatient with my questions, when i was trying to understand the pie flavours they have. When she served the next customers, I noticed the way she's talking to them were the same. I guess that's probably just her style. Anyway, the pie pastry is so thin and soft that all filling especially the liquid came through the base making me so messy. Plus, the filling was supposed to have chunk beef, but there's only two small pieces of beef i could taste and the rest were just onion. The bakery shop has a long history. I can tell the business is quite good but really hope they do improve the service and pie pastry.

Staff are polite and friendly, sandwiches are fresh and made on request. Plain sausage rolls were nice, so are the custard tarts. Wanted a Vanilla slice but at $10.80 for a small slice was a bit steep.

We live 150k away in a small town. Our local IGA stock Gundagai bread. The most freshest, tastiest and long lasting bread we have every tasted. Sad day when we leave and carnt get it.

This is classic country bakery. Worth the visit for the cream bun cake...value for a family morning tea. Really sour...sour dough bread is available which is also good value. Genuinely nice service staff round off the experience. Makes me want to return on my next road trip.

OMG this is the best salad sandwich ever! Fresh fillings and super generous. Service was so friendly and we will absolutely be back. Another lady stopped in while we were there and like us was on the long trip down the highway and had stopped specifically to get a salad roll - I can completely understand why! So good!!

Traditional hand made sandwiches. I have a ham and salad roll and a cup of tea here. Broke my trip, and was delicious. Better than any fast food join...and actually just as fast.

And breakfast didn't disappoint✨️✨️The eggs on toast and banana bread were so perfectly made and their coffee was just what we needed for the drive back... Beautiful Cafe with lovely staff. Did a quick stop for some hot drinks and a snack. Even though we came close to closing time, we were served with great cheer. The hot chocolates and coffee were a hit. The art on the coffees were divine.

A must stop when you are passing through Gundagai. Wonderful, friendly staff. Weren't hurried and go, go, go to get our order. Had a chat, really pleasant. The food was good. Smoked salmon sandwiches with all the usual trimmings. Mocha was spectacular. Extra hot as requested, (this is always a problem when requested in other locations) and a perfect blend of coffee and chocolate. Family, singles ,couples, friends, perfect for everyone. Accessibility friendly, including the bathroom. The atmosphere was old school chic, very art deco vibes. Musical background was a perfect blend of hum along songs and not too loud. Brilliant.

A wonderful cafe like Niagara is something that I always look forward to discover in a road trip. Stopping at a place not knowing where to eat, we just follow the crowd (most of the time!). We were welcomed by the friendly staffs with smiles. Particularly the young lady ( sorry forgot to get her name) was very accomodating and helpful what should we try. We liked the tasty falafel salad and the burger. The mango shake was a delicious refreshing too.

Very quirky restaurant! However when it gets busy the staff gets sloppy and we had to wait very long to get their attention. Also, the steak sandwich is NOT VERY GOOD! It was chewy and did not taste like a steak. The seafood basket was very nice and fresh! Decent pit stop

I love that this history of the Niagara cafe lives on. We had salad sandwich a burger and schnitzel look they were nice, the meat in the burger could have been better quality, we loved the pickles and onion rings that was such a nice touch. Salad sandwich really requires butter not margarine but I understand costs are high. Great service and a pretty good stop with also some cute souvenirs

We stopped here for a quick bite. A lovely place, such friendly service and food made with love. Was so warm on a cold winter's day. Loved that there was a dedicated gluten free menu. Would definitely come here again and recommend to family and friends.

This cafe is beautifully preserved from its glory days and an absolute pleasure to sit in. Unfortunately the majority of food offerings we ate here today was a major letdown. For the thickshake connoisseur - the thickshake we had was not thick and unfortunately at best a milkshake consistency. The burgers were not great, nor was the salad and fries accompaniment. The Reuben sandwich was quite nice and the only thing from the menu we would order again.

Staff are very knowledgeable. They've done such a lot of work to the station to bring it back to its former glory. Keep an eye on The Old Railway Station. They have plans for reinstating a tourist train trip, caravan sites etc Gundagai is a RV friendly town. You can find a dump point at the Old Railway station with optional donation.

Interesting place and out the front is a Dump point and a tap for getting drinking water. Plenty of room to park.

Lovely historic (non-operational) railway station. Plenty of informative displays, with personal narratives. There is the ability to walk up and down the old tracks at the end of the platform. A small donation is required to enter. Definitely worth it. You know you’ve spent plenty more money on far more useless things!

Spacious, fresh food. The garlic bread and beef burgers were great. The staff were friendly and the seating areas and tables were clean.

Food here is fantastic! I have eaten here every night since arrival in Gundagai! Well worth the price you pay for every main meal and entree! Spring rolls are to die for and the calamari is great too! Steak is big and tasty, parmi is big and tasty, burgers are amazing. Honestly cannot fault any of the food here! Will continue to eat here whenever I'm in Gundagai! 10/10 to the staff too!

Was there with my son. His pizza was great, if huge. My schnitzel was lovely. Unfortunately the mash was pre-packaged reconstituted stuff and the steamed vege also wasn't fresh. There was a puddle of hot water from the bag the veges were microwaved in. I'll avoid this place next time.

An enjoyable meal, friendly staff. Not noisy. We shared a meal as the portions were too big for an older person to eat without wasting half of the meal. As a visitor I didn't see the daily special offer and could have enjoyed a free beer if it had been on display where meals were ordered A service club I worked as a chef in offered seniors meals as a lot of members were older and hate waste. As a chef I hate preparing and cooking food to see it thrown out. I'm sure the farmers don't like seeing their hard work go in the rubbish bin.

Lovely bistro. Friendly staff and great chef staff who know how to season and cook steak perfectly. Thoroughly enjoyed our meals especially the steak. Cosy atmosphere with bonus large window views. Well worth eating there. We will be back. Italian meal options and kids eat free Monday night when we went too.

Banjo's did the catering for my Baby Shower and the food was incredible. We ordered grazing platers, finger food and sandwiches for 40 people and the quality of the food was outstanding. All of my guests commented on how lovely it was. The food was also presented beautifully across a large table. Frankie communicated well in preparation for the shower and catered to all dietary needs and the staff were all kind. I recommend getting Banjo's to cater for any function and I will definitely use Banjo's again for any functions I host. Thank you all so much!

We have eaten on the outside deck many times as we travel through Gundagai regularly. Have always brought our little dog. Today found policy changed - no dogs allowed. Will look for pet friendly option in future.

Did not stay here. We just stopped for dinner on the way through. It's a nice friendly country pub. They do the usual, pizza, burgers and steaks. We all had pizza. It was nice, not Italian but tasty and freshly made. Good value.

We had dinner here. It was a cold night so we felt lucky to have found a table inside. The tables got full by 6.30pm and we had a short wait to get one. The food was lovely...we had the stuffed Mushrooms, garlic bread, salad and chips with coffee.

When you book you get the warning that rooms are above a bar and therefore you can get noise. My assumption was that would simply be country pub noise. Wrong. A fully fledged DJ pumping loud doof doof music for a private event. So loud it was bouncing off buildings on the other side of the street and do doubt filled the valley. Well after midnight too. Roudy country pub closing at midnight would have been fine. This wasn't. Rooms should not have been sold for this night.

3 stars only because of Staff and how clean room was.... Over priced for just a bed and shower, no coffee tea, cups at all in rooms.but you do get towels shampoo n soap...awesome communal area with a great out door area. Wasn't impressed with our meals at all either, stuffed mushrooms with whatever, the cheese topping was rock hard, hubby had over cooked battered hake.... We are now at Woy Woy right on the beach at local pub..$25 cheaper a night and you get tea coffee biscuits.... Yeah room isn't as great but hey something for you to think about, drop room prices after all it's a communal bathroom same as you get at a caravan park.... For similar price for a basic cabin with a shower, tea coffee toaster kettle. Great position easy walking distance to park, golf and the whole of the shopping strip..cafes and all...

A stop over night after a long drive, warm room, very clean, cosy, and downstairs a busy hotel with all you would want. Great price for a bed too!! I highly recommend an overnight here in this historic building.

Room was ok, you get what you pay for. Beware that hotel rooms are just above the bar, and if you stay on Friday night like I did it'll be loud, earplugs or noise cancelling headphones recommended if you're a fussy sleeper. Shower rooms are cold in winter, shower pressure is weak and nozzles need to be replaced.

Super cool piece of history, however its difficult to find a good viewpoint for it. Perfect place to stop by for a lunch as there are picnic tables and lots of shade nearby. Also did see a number of caravans and campervans parked near the river edge. Recommend as a drive by stop for sure.

It's sad that the bridge is in disrepair but it is still worth visiting. To get a full appreciation of the bridge, you need to view from both the north and south and drive down on to the flood plain. We spent almost an hour visiting different viewing spots and walking where it was possible.

Nice place to stop on your way when driving on hume Highway. Small town with few shops and a spacious park area. The wooden viaduct type bridge is visible and you can go near and see it.

What A Fantastic free can with some awesome walks close by. in the afternoon you will get the cows coming to say hi. walk along the river and into town.

'On the road to Gundagai' and as you sign along (after getting off the terribly busy Hume Highway!), you come across a range of historical areas, in just one small town. The 'Historic Bridges' are falling down, but they still provide you with a lot of the areas history. Always ask a local, I found out, as they are excellent at explaining all of the towns history.

Very interesting, pity it isn't up to steam train rides. Would be a great draw card.

It's a 150 years old historical bridge, which witnessed many floods, rains & storms and it's still standing. Though it's closed for visitors but you can see a clear view of it from 20 meters distance.

Fun little museum filled with some great Gundagai local pieces. Cost $15 for a family visit. Quick walk from Morley Creek camping spot if you stay for the night.

A wonderful experience with a surprisingly large range of items on display. Plenty to reminisce over. Some excellent historic photos. Credit to the team that works here. Allow at least an hour to absorb.

Well worth a visit. Wow. What an incredible and amazing museum. The museum has to be the best I've seen. So full of the history of Gundagui riverina region and so much more. The room was great. The guy that checked me in was great. Unfortunately the accumulator site, bookings.com, didn't let me tell the hotel I was disabled and couldn't do steps. The guy who checked me in gave me a ground floor room at no extra cost. I believe the restaurant is renowned. Of course despite the spam about how great it was it was closed on Wednesday at 1900. This despite me being told it was open Wednesday to Sunday. The lovely lady who was about to ring me to tell me I'd forgotten my insulin needs a bonus.

Views are very good from here with a good informative sign provided. There are no amenities here other than a rubbish bin. Worth the short drive up the hill to have a look.

What a great view! We were here at sunset and it was spectacular. We were planning to return in the morning but there was a thick blanket of fog. Worth a visit.

It is one of the really beautiful parks I have seen around. It has a lake, some naturally beautiful trees, skating area, public toilets, benches for sitting and some swings for kids. Walking around itself is a soothing activity here. Highly recommended to visit.

Barbeque facilities available. Public restrooms. Playground equipment is a bit dated and pretty basic but it fully enclosed by a fence. There is an old school steel slide which is pretty steep for the older kids. Just down from the playground is a pretty decent skate park. Plenty of parking. Lots of open space for kicking a football. Nice walking path tracks along a creek and heads into town

Great spot! Heaps of space and not busy. We stopped here to have a bit of lunch on the way to Sydney.

A delightful, vast park on the Murrumbidgee River flats, beautifully maintained lawns beneath lovely trees, modern, free and very clean electric BBQs, fresh water taps nearby, lots of well maintained, enclosed rubbish bins, very courteous and friendly maintenance staff. I’d have given another star except for the picnic tables and seats being covered in birds’ crud and the public toilets being of a solitary cubicle, very small, outdated and rather smelly. There’s a free, recreational vehicle site at the eastern side of this park. If you visit this area, please also head to the lofty scenic lookout atop a very nearby hill, it giving a breathtaking view of Gundagai within the mountain ranges which tranquilly roll to the distant horizon.

A nice park to stop off the Hume. It has a playground and skate park for children, there is plenty of room to run around safely and never seems to be busy. Covered picnic tables and barbecues are provided. Thank you Lions. Take the middle (second) Gundagai exit, proceed through the first intersection, then turn right and cross the ford over the usually dry creek bed. Rusconi's marble masterpiece in the Council chambers is also worthy of a look.

I'm giving this museum 5 stars in recognition of the astonishing collection (so much more than pens!), but also the knowledge and passion of its owner Bruce. The labelling of the display is somewhat scant (would like to see more labels or some kind of catalogue), but Bruce is a human encyclopedia of all things to do with pens and associated paraphenalia. He very generously gave a detailed commentary on a great part of the collection. The little school room was an unexpected joy and brought back childhood memories. There are also some beautiful pens for sale at very reasonable prices (I bought a couple of stunning fountain pens for just $15 each). I know next time I'm in the region I will visit the museum again. I spent a long time there but feel I could have spent so much more time exploring. Visitors will know that the museum is a very rare collection and a serious labour of love; there is a very modest entry fee (well worth it) and Bruce works long hours so he deserves every support in this remarkable venture. Thank you, Bruce, for your passion, time and dedication. You are a rare find too!

It’s always advisable to visit small towns along your travel. With an open inquisitive mind, you’re apt to be furnished with new knowledge- the Pen Museum in Gundagai merits a stop in your travel itinerary. I was briefed by Bruce who despite his age, is still passionate about the pen collection and writing instruments in this museum. There are so many brands of pen that I’ve never heard of but upon knowing their backgrounds, I’m truly appreciative of the visit. Well kept and maintained, I recommend everyone to pay a visit.

We thought we’d pop in for a quick look- but Bruce is so passionate about the collection and is a fund of information. Many of the items represent a pocket of history or evoke memories of times long ago. Worth a visit - just allow a little longer than you were expecting😁 Also recommend getting a guided tour of the collection as just looking at the items without context could feel underwhelming.

Bruce the curator and owner was amazing, so well informed about everything and willing to share his passion. We spent at least an hour in there (we truly didn’t see the time pass) and Bruce took us through his whole collection, he was wonderfully knowledgeable and could answer any questions we had about anything he had on display. Would recommend to anyone with some time to spare!!

What an interesting collection of pens. Bruce is so knowledgeable about the collection. My daughters loved getting their own fountain pens and Bruce was so kind and not only filled them up but also checked that they were working perfectly. The ink bottles are so reasonably priced. And there are many colours to choose from.

What a great place to visit. This exhibition is greater than I first thought that it would be. The curator was very knowledgeable and explained all of the items on display. Their is far more to see than just Pens. I would really recommend that you take the time to stop at Gundagai and take a good look at this display.

Country is very dry but beautiful landscape none the less. There are a couple of picnic tables for a morning tea stop. No wind today very peaceful. Mount Parnassus is also in Greece!! Made friends with a kurrajong and the native spring flowers and seeds are doing their best! Highly recommended. Support our rural and regional towns they are our history.

Good view of Gundagai, has tables and bench seats, pretty sure there is a toilet too. Would be great as a short rest point, though unfortunately found it very dirty, lots of litter around which is a huge drawback.

Such a fantastic place to swim and relax! The pool is amazing—clean, well-maintained, and perfect for a refreshing dip. But what truly stands out is the staff—super friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. A great spot to unwind and enjoy!

Great swimming facilities with a small paddling pool for toddlers, a nice size pool for young children and a 50m pool with 2 diving boards. The pools are a lovely temperature, there's a small playground and there is nice shade too. Would have given 5 stars, only the life guard insisted that my 6 year old jump off the high diving board even when he changed his mind after climbing up. Completely disrespectful and out of line to force a child to do something that petrified him, simply because he had climbed up the ladder. Of course I refused and allowed my son to climb down, but this kind of bullying is completely unacceptable.

One of your van drivers almost disappeared up my rear he was driving dangerously and I will be reporting the vehicle to the Police. I only hope they loose their Licence before they cause an accident!!! Fortunately my vehicle has Cameras Front & Rear so I was able to capture it all!!

Interestingly enough the driver of the Junque and Disorderly still has no idea on how to drive . Erratic driving on Hume Highway just past Ampol Petrol stations heading northbound .

A piece of history in gundagai. A must see and it needs to be repaired.

Gundagai is a magnificent example of what is great about country Australia and in this case NSW. The town is steeped in history. Beautiful on the eye and warmth for the heart. An authentic piece of Aussie history that has resisted the maul of modernity.

Unfortunately the bridge was blocked off for restoration works at both ends. I still highly recommend driving up to it to view the bridge. You can also drive underneath the bridge which gives you a unique view.

So incredible seeing this old bridge. Be quick to see it won't last much longer

Great self guided tour provided by the tourist information centre. Such a nice experience listening to what happened while walking through the creepy empty gaol. Loved it.

Wonderful old historic Gaol and homestead. The local tourist information centre hires the key with a headset so you can listen to the history of the town, Gaol and it’s prisoners as you walk around the gaol. No need for a guide as this is a self guided tour. Captain Moonlight was kept a prisoner for a short period here after his capture at Wantabadgery before being sentenced elsewhere and is now buried at the nearby North Gundagai cemetery. You also get to tour the old gaol hospital and homestead where the guards slept and stayed.

Great museum, much bigger than it looks on the outside. Volunteers were both friendly and informative. There is QR code signs around to get more info. The photos are well worth a perusal as they show some great history for not only the area but Australian trucking and transport as a whole.

Attended the ARTHC Tractor Pull and Swap Meet 2022 at Gundagai. A very well run event. Well layed out stalls, well organised tractor pull comp and great truck, car and stationary engine displays.

Alot going on here, great to walk through and check it out. I didn't know much about alot of things so it is hard to comment on the pricing for some of the items. Some things seemed reasonably priced and other items seemed absolutely outrages but maybe I didn't know something about them. Worth checking out

Back in the 1980’s I think this establishment had the Pups on the Tuckerbox. They were controversial at the time. Does any one recall this or what become of the statues ?

After ringing around and having no luck with accommodation we finally found a very clean and welcoming warming atmosphere. Rob was very helpful in giving us a room for a night, rooms are very clean, beds comfy and a very clean place. I highly recommend this motel for your next stay.

Stopped here on the way from Melbourne to Sydney with my wife and 2 young kids. The owners were very accommodating in helping us with some washing and introduced the girls to Jack, the resident dog. Great location, short walk to pubs and cafes and there is an amazing new park across the road for the kids (of all ages). Will definitely stay here again next time we're in the area.

The man at the front desk was absolutely rude with no manners to deal with customers. I was being very nice to him but he was absolutely rude. He was also talking to another customer on the phone and was being very rude. I paid them for Portacot to be installed and ready for baby to sleep but they didn’t even had one in the room. Later in the evening when we got back from dinner. Portacot was left at the front door with no notes and it was absolutely dirty. We decided not to use it. Bed was nice, Internet worked fine, Rooms were clean but the cups were very dirty and dust around the cupboard. I will never ever recommend anyone to stay in this hotel from my personal experience.

Fabulous accommodation, very clean, was able to accommodate 3 ladies in family room so we had our own beds. Great value at $156 per night, separate toilet to shower, warm air con. Chris (lady at reception and Jill of everything that happens in the business) was bright, bubbly, caring and lovely lady. Well done! If you want to have breakfast out, head to 'The Dog on the Tuckerbox' on the way to Yass as another great lady there to support the local region. Service club for dinner was another great place diagonally opposite the motel. Loved the country driving. We will be back!

Tastefully restored rooms and clean. And with reading lights. Shared bathroom not a problem. Bistro food good. Well located. On the negative side the TV is at right angles to bed so we moved the bed. Three and a half stars.

My family stayed here on our way back home from a long trip and looked forward to a nice rest. Unfortunately the water pipes from the neighbouring unit were very loud (screeching almost) whenever the unit next door used their water services, which was when we went to sleep and then woke us all up at 6am. I approached management after we first noticed the noise and raised the noise to see if anything could be done. The response was flat out rude from the manager, with his response being "you are free to leave" rather than sorry, we understand and apologise but can't do anything. He then walked out on me! It was utterly bizarre and completely unprofessional. There were a few other weird interactions with this person when we booked the room too. We should have seen the red flag and gone elsewhere. He isn't the owner and clearly needs to find a new job if that his how he treats customers. We won't be returning, ever! The other manager came back and apologised, telling me to leave a bad review so that management might do something. How odd as well.

I'm not sure how to put this, but here goes. We arrived at 1.15pm to a locked door. When my wife knocked the guy who opened the door was extremely rude and arragont and promptly told her come back after 2pm we aren't ready. We did. I went in to book in and his manner was utterly disgraceful, having already paid in full prior to arrival. The door opened up to within 7 inches of the bed Then we discovered we were put in a disabled room. No disrespect to anyone disabled but we never booked that. Completely waste of the $118 paid for the night having just left Sydney were we paid $94 a night in the Holiday Inn Disgraceful

1:29pm- disgusting behaviour from workers here. They are old enough to know how to respect others. We had a guy serve us and was speaking to us normally on the speaker sounded great at the start. We ordered two go buckets a MAXI popcorn chicken and two drinks and a slider. He asked what size popcorn chicken and i said maxi multiple times. When we went to the next window his attitude towards us changed completely. He was rude. I don’t know if this is because i have a headscarf and my partner has a beard and he is racist or what. He told us the price without repeating the order and we paid and went our way. We then noticed we were given a snack popcorn chicken instead a maxi. The go buckets were half empty. We went back and told him and he was so rude he said no you guys said snack we repeated to him that we did infact tell him a few times. With attitude he said he had to refund us and do it again then stormed off and sent another worker. This lady was just as rude to us. He was in the back starring at us smirking!!!!!! 😡We asked if we could have our go buckets filled properly with chips and she said no. that’s fine. But then she proceeded to refund us the snack popcorn chicken and then return us the SNACK popcorn chicken?? We said we wanted a maxi and she yelled to the guy you told me the wrong one and stormed off aswell. Leaving our window without telling us anything is unprofessional. Finally the boy came back and without a word just passed the maxi and closed the window on us. I’m not bothered by the size and the mix up i’m bothered by the treatment we received. Disgusting behaviour. If you cannot treat all customers the same you should not be in a customer service role. Horrible treatment and the food servings are ridiculous.

Stopped at KFC Gundagai during a road trip from Melbourne to Sydney for a quick lunch and ordered the Boneless Dinner Pack. Unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. We didn’t receive our large chips with the order and had to return to the counter to ask for them. When we got back to the car, we realized the sauce was missing too, but we couldn’t go back again as we were in a hurry to get back on the road. To make things worse, one of the chicken pieces was undercooked and inedible. Not what you’d expect from a well-known fast food chain—especially when you’re relying on a quick, hassle-free stop during a long trip.

Very bad experience. Ordered wicked wings and got nuggets sized smaller wings. When asked the lady over the counter, she answered very rudely they all comes like that that’s why we gave us one extra, which we didn’t know because they didn’t tell that before. I was very surprised to see her behaviour because she was mature enough. 🤔She took one wing from the box and threw in the bin front of me and tried to replace others with good size ones but she just replaced couple of them not all. Shocked 😳

I visited today and ordered my usual chicken wings, but to my surprise, the staff member taking my order informed me that they were out of wings. However, I noticed plenty of chicken wings available. The way she communicated was not only unprofessional but also disrespectful. Unfortunately, her behavior felt rather discriminatory, which added to my disappointment. I hope the management addresses this issue to ensure a more positive experience for all customers in the future.

One of the worst days in my life. I was traveling to Sydney and I ordered for my family but unfortunately not same what I ordered and I told them not spicy because my kids are not eating spicy but they don’t get me what I want, all food was spicy. We did not eat it and we left to another restaurant.

The KFC at the food court may or may not be the worst KFC on the face of the earth. Food came unnaturally quick, the chicken was dry and cold unlike any KFC i have ever had, where usually it is warm and juicy. Certainly didn’t get served with a smile. The tables definitely needed a clean. After hours in the road ts pmo.

If you have heard of the books and radio shows featuring Dad and Dave, Mum and Mabel, it's a fun spot to stop for a few minutes for a photo opportunity. The walk along Sheridan Street is interesting with some sculptures, history and old buildings.

I stumbled upon this larger-than-life monument during a spontaneous detour through the Riverina in early September 2025, and it quickly became the emotional highlight of my visit to this charming riverside town. What began as a quick photo stop evolved into a reflective afternoon, underscoring why Gundagai deserves far more than a hasty drive-by on the Hume Highway. This sculpture isn't just art; it's a vital chapter in Australia's shared history, reminding us of the Indigenous contributions that are often overlooked. The sculpture, unveiled in 2017 to mark the 165th anniversary of the devastating Gundagai flood, captures Yarri and Jacky Jacky in a moment of quiet determination, poised with a traditional scribbly-bark canoe that symbolizes their ingenuity and courage. Crafted by local artist Darien Pullen of Meridian Sculpture Foundry, the bronze figures gleam under the sun, their forms both powerful and humble, evoking the cold, relentless nights of June 1852 when the Murrumbidgee River swelled catastrophically. That fateful flood claimed up to 100 lives—nearly a quarter of the town's population of around 400—wiping out 48 homes in North Gundagai and leaving survivors clinging to rooftops and trees. Despite earlier warnings from the Wiradjuri community about the area's flood-prone nature, which had been ignored amid colonial tensions, Yarri (born around 1810 near Brungle) and Jacky Jacky sprang into action. Using frail bark canoes and a small rowboat, they navigated the raging waters over three harrowing days and nights, rescuing 69 settlers—about one-third of the town—in freezing conditions that tested their endurance to the limit. Yarri alone made repeated trips, ferrying families one by one, while Jacky Jacky saved around 20 lives in his vessel. Their selflessness not only saved lives but also bridged divides, fostering greater relations between the Wiradjuri people and European settlers in the years that followed. Standing before the sculpture, I was moved by the inscription from the Gundagai community, including Wiradjuri descendants and survivors' kin, honoring these men who received bronze breastplates for their heroism yet faced ongoing hardships—Yarri, for instance, died in 1880 after a horse fall, his pension plea publicized but unmet in full. Typical American styled fast food place, reminiscent of the Insta-Burger King. They had these burger bites things, would say they were like little rissoles, the meat inside was heavily seasoned. My wife said it was like they were the offcuts of actual burger patties, so pretty ingenious marketing I guess. I think the chips are better than Macca D’s, so they got the slogan wrong, it’s not the burgers but the chips that are better. Gundagai, what an awesome place, even just the name and the ambience of the town is more Australian than Jack Thompson. I’m lovin’ it!

The staff were really lovely. Even though we turned up just before closing time, they were really helpful And even gave my kids a free game in the mini arcade. That was really sweet too. I was happy with my experience and I'd go back, just for the arcade.

Convenient place to stop, but overall, it is very average. When it's busy, at least the chips are hot. Having stopped here several times travelling between melb and canberra, the cleanliness is also a persistent issue.

The restaurant is lack of cleaning, food is delicious, if you eat outdoor, it has the best sunset view.

Food was okay. Service is very fast. The place's quite convenient as it's located next to the petrol shop. A good place to rest for a bit if you are in a trip.

They gave me cold fries and it took over 30 minutes for my burger. Fast food more like slow food. They need to update their system too. Never coming here again. I don’t recommend

When I needed medical help in the middle of the night and in an unfamiliar town, the incredibly kind and efficient Emergency Nurse, Bec, was there to provide excellent care. Fabulous new facility and provided a Doctor consultation and peace of mind for a traveller. What a relief it is to know that level of care was available in Gundagai. Makes the town a definite stopover point for us every time we are travelling between Melbourne and Sydney from now on. Just in case!!

Cheryl was a beautiful nurse who took great care of me and the doctor was so kind. Exceptional service, and so grateful for them!

Our daughter had an allergic reaction whilst travelling yesterday and the nurses and doctor were absolutely amazing with her!! Thank you so much 💖

This historical memorial is a metal plaque underneath a big old tree up the hill at the back of North Gundagai Cemetery. The inscription reads "Andrew George Scott. Captain Moonlite. Born Ireland 8/1/1845, Died Sydney 20/1/1880. 'As to a monumental stone, a rough unhewn rock would be most fir, one that skilled hands could have made into something better. It will be like those it marks as kindness and charity could have shaped us to better ends.' Andrew George Scott. Laid to final rest near his friends James Nesbitt and Augustus Wernicke who lie in unmarked graves close by. Gundagai 13/1/1995." Moonlite was apparently a handsome but violent bushranger of local notoriety.

Villain or hero. Not sure that we should recognise bushrangers as heroes in our history..

Meh. Not sure why it's called an "interactive tourist attraction". Reading the history around it on the information board was kinda interesting though. It was the only building in town that survived the great flood. Worth a visit? Probs not.

McDonald's Gundagai – Perfect Pitstop Between Sydney and Melbourne A great spot for a quick break while driving down to Melbourne from Sydney! McDonald’s Gundagai is a popular and busy stop — and for good reason. The atmosphere is lively, and the service is quick, making it ideal for grabbing a bite and stretching your legs before hitting the road again. It also served as our meeting point with other families, which worked out perfectly. Plenty of space, easy access, and all the familiar Macca’s favourites. Loved the vibes — definitely one of the better highway stops!

The patty to bun ratio was excellent! Good, hot and fresh food served in a timely manner. Their hot chocolate was great too!

We ordered a medium flat white, a chai latte with oat milk, and 2 jam, cheese, and tomato toasties. Yes they were busy, but nowhere near how busy Macca's in Glenrowan was we visited the day before with the same order. Glenrowan was prompt with the order, and the food delicious. Gundagai took forever to get our order, the toasties were barely warm, cheese not melted, and tomato cold. See picture. The chai latte barely had any taste. The lack of care, was evident. Staff spent too much time talking instead of doing their job. Will not be back!!

Service staff will under fill mcflurries or pour cones sideways. Baristas will forget to put coffee in the coffee frappes and then offer to pour you a new shot - only after you order another (as if purchasing another is a reasonable solution to a coffee-less coffee.) Gundagai Macca's being on the Hume Highway has a captive audience and will screw you over because of it.

What a disgusting place this is, arrived at 8:30am 28th July 2025, they must have just mopped the entire floor with NOT ONE WET FLOOR sign to be seen, I nearly went “A up” when I walked in, went to the toilet and again the floor was saturated, whether it was water or who knows what but it smelt RANK!, The sink had food in there, wet tissue on the side and the mould in the silicon. The self serve machine wouldn’t give me receipt and the girl couldn’t give me one. I pressed Cappuccino and got a chocolate milk. Never again, this place is just a pig pen. The Manager here must be so proud of this sty!

The most unclean eatery i have ever been to. Food on the floor, tables and chairs, bins over flowing. Serving area unclean and covered in random items. Behind counter and toilets also not clean. Staff uniforms also unclean. When food arrived it was half cold and bits were missing. Threw most of it out. Worst McDonalds ever. Disgusting.

It was the most yummiest Maccas meal I’ve ever had at this store. My wrap came out hot and crispy, very juicy from the inside. The chips and nuggets were wonderfully well cooked. The manager running back and fourth to make sure our order came on time. Well training team as well. Thanks for our hard work and great effort. This is my fav Maccas restaurant in Sydney now. They deserves better pay and beautiful words of compliments
