Park
Mindo Central Park is a nature lover's paradise, boasting rich biodiversity with numerous bird, butterfly, and orchid species thriving in its lush cloud forest. Adventure enthusiasts can indulge in activities like tubing, canopy tours, canyoning, hiking, night walks, and horseback riding. The town offers various English-friendly tours such as coffee and chocolate excursions along with adrenaline-pumping experiences like rafting and climbing.
This was my favorite activity to do in the outskirt of Quito. Stunning wall to see 5 waterfalls which was very accessible for the general crowd. YOU MUST do the hummingbird farm which was the highlight of my trip in Ecuador

There is a very good second-floor restaurant with seating that faces the park. The food is very fresh and tasty, especially the soups. The restaurant does not appear on GoogleMaps.

Very beautiful town. Its location is relatively far from Quito, but it's worth the trip. Many attractions can be found here, as well as good places to eat. Nice people around.

Excelente place to visit. A must!!! Many different tours and they speak English is needed. Very safe and a place far far away from Home. Coffee tours, chocolate tours, rafting, climbing, and many more.

Chocolate factory
Discover the art of chocolate-making at El Quetzal de Mindo with Chocolate Tour, a small chocolate factory in Mindo. This sustainable venture sources organic cacao from local family farms and offers an immersive experience showcasing the entire chocolate-making process, from bean to bar. Visitors can explore cacao trees, drying racks, and the refinery before indulging in a tasting session.
I did the chocolate tour with Bryan who was an excellent guide! He was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and answered all the questions I had. I would definitely recommend this tour. It was so interesting to see the whole process of chocolate making and seeing the cocoa trees on the property. I had a hot chocolate and brownie before the tour which was amazing!
Anish P — Google review
Loved the chocolate tour. They are dedicated to regenerating national cacao using sustainable farming. Their focus on educating and sharing their experiences is good for the local and national cacao industry and agriculture in general. Highly recommended to visit and support this local business. And the chocolate was delicious, hands down the best chocolate I have ever tasted.

We saw there was a little place around the corner doing chocolate tours so we decided to check them out. Miguel was an excellent tour guide, guiding us through the whole chocolate making process and walking us through their beautiful garden (bring bug spray!) Miguel explained every step, from tasting the bean straight out of the pod, to mixing smooth chocolate with different flavorings (ginger, pepper, fruit, salt, etc) that they use in the bars they sell. Fantastic tour, would strongly recommend to anyone looking for a fun afternoon activity!
Brendan M — Google review
Grateful to Bryan for his English-speaking chocolate tour! So interesting to learn about the entire process of making chocolate, from exploring the farm to trying the unbelievably tasty final product !!! My personal favourite was the brownie and the BBQ sauce but all of it is totally delicious. Incredible value for money, definitely book this tour!

Really great chocolate tour! Including chocolate face masks and trying fresh cardamon! Our tour guide Jaritza was FANTASTIC! And has perfect English too! :) Thankyou Jaritza! :))
Rosie M — Google review
We had an amazing chocolate-making tour with Jaritza! She was engaging, enthusiastic, and very knowledgeable, showing us so many interesting things in the garden. She paid great attention to details and guided us through making our own chocolate from cacao seeds. Such a fun and unique experience—highly recommended!

What an experience! I went to the chocolate workshop hoping to learn some things about chocolate and the Cacao fruit but I left with my mind blown. I didn’t know Cacao was so versatile. Thank you to Miguel who was a wonderful instructor.

Cafe
Yumbos Chocolate in Mindo offers an immersive chocolate making tour that provides a comprehensive understanding of the chocolate-making process. Visitors can indulge in a variety of chocolates paired with fresh Ecuadorian fruits during the tasting session. The tour showcases the history of chocolate, its cultivation, harvesting, fermentation, and production into delectable bars. Additionally, Yumbos Chocolate supports women and children involved in cacao cultivation.
Fun and interesting place, very cheap also, to learn about the processing of chocolate from start to finish. We had many different samples of chocolate, tea, sauces, and even had a face mask in chocolate! It was very sticky and hard to wash off, by the way, but our faces were really smooth and shiny afterwards!

Thank you Harry for the nice tour and all the information regarding chocolate manufacturing you gave me. Great presentation in a fantastic environment. The chocolate samples taste unique. This tour is worrh every dollar and I would do it again.

A must do item when in Mindo!!! The chocolate tour was so fun and so good, the chocolate tasty was amazing, and Yumbos chocolates are delicious!! The hot chocolate is to die for and the service is great! Also, mostly everyone there speaks English.

Amazing tour! We originally went just because we had free time... but we learned so much and are happy that we did! Both men who were working were friendly and very knowledgeable. Tons of things to taste and drink. I highly recommend
Kristina B — Google review
One of the best thematic tours I've ever had. The guide's enunciation was adjusted to us as foreigners so we could understand. You'll have a new standard for chocolate after this tour.

They had a beautiful courtyard in which you can sit and have a drink or bite. We had the brownie with fruits and it was delicious and moist! They also have cocoa tour, but we didn't go.
Daniel L — Google review
We did the Yumbos Chocolate Tour with tasting for only $10 a person and it was totally worth it. We learned how the history of chocolate, how it's grown, & the different kinds. How it's harvested, fermented, grinded down, stirred for days then put into the chocolate bar molds. Very neat and it supports the women with children that grow it. The secret is to suck on it! I am serious. The chocolate is so delicious and unique I can taste the sweetness of the cacao seeds.🤤 Right now I am eating the 60%. I really enjoyed the 70% as well. My fellow traveler enjoyed the dark, 100% cacao nibs.

Nestled in the heart of Ecuador's lush Mindo Nambillo Eco Reserve, Butterfly House Nathaly Mindo offers a captivating glimpse into the enchanting world of butterflies. With around 90 species fluttering about, this sanctuary allows visitors to witness all four stages of a butterfly's life cycle—from egg to caterpillar, then pupa, and finally emerging as stunning adults.
Mariposario Nathaly was a five minute walk from my hostel in Mindo proper, was $7, and I spent nearly two hours there. She had a diverse orchid garden, a koi pond with geese, a hummingbird area, and of course a butterfly enclosure. I couldn’t believe how close I could get to them, with a little patience, and the quality pictures I got with my crappy out-and-about iPhone SE are not to be believed. So much fun, unexpectedly.
Jamie — Google review
The right place to visit if it rains or shines, you will need at least an hour to visit the entire expo. After a short explanation, you'll be able to freely walk in a room full of butterflies. Later, you can also visit a hummingbird habitat where you can see them in very close proximity. Entrance fee is $6. The roof requires some maintenance
Favo N — Google review
One of the few activities to do in the actual town and a wonderful experience. Tickets are 7 dollars and the place includes a butterfly sanctuary, bird feeder and a little pond. The butterfly sanctuary is beautiful with many local plants and a lot of different butterflies. You can also see the butterflies in their larvae stage outside which is fascinating. The bird section was mesmerising, we stayed for around an hour just sitting in the chairs and hammocks watching the hummingbirds and local birds eat fruit and drink nectar.
Sara R — Google review
Sweet local couple who runs the business. Unfortunately it was raining so I only saw Hummingbirds and geese. Definitely support this business
Silvia R — Google review
Beautiful place. The owner is super kind and attentive to educate about the different butterflies. It is very peaceful. The bird viewing porch is great. There is also a small waterfall and pool with fish and ducks. Right in the center of town and very affordable. A must see in Mindo
Jessica G — Google review
Nice butterfly house and hummingbirds. Would be nice if the people would set it up a little bit more inspiring. Feels like they just wait for people to show up, and not do a real effort to make this a learning and inspiring place.
Hans J — Google review
The visit was wonderful, and we could see several butterflies and hummingbirds. I can recommend the place to support local businesses

Restaurant
Restaurant Pizzeria El Tigrillo is a must-visit place known for its exceptional pizzas, which are arguably the best in Ecuador. Although they come at a higher price, the quality makes it worthwhile. For budget travelers or those tired of pizza, there is also an affordable daily menu offering soup, main dish, and a drink for around $3-4. The restaurant's other dishes are equally delicious and provide great value for money.
We liked it a lot. Tried various items on the menu, and it was always good. The pizza was great!
Petra A — Google review
Really good pizza and it filled me up BUT... hidden charges. If on budget be careful. Ordered pizza with no drink which on the menu totalled 15dollars. Finally bill came to 18.75 dollars. I don't know where the $3.75 has come from but left a bad taste in my mouth after good food.
Paul M — Google review
Decent pizzas that are made fairly quickly in the wood fired brick oven. They tasted better hot, and less as they cooled, but as far as Latin American pizza goes, this is a top spot. They have many competitors in town, but if you go here, you won’t be disappointed.
Brian D — Google review
This place is worth a visit. The pizzas might just be the best in all of Ecuador...they are good...really good. Not cheap though. If you travel on a budget or might be pizzas out, they also serve both a rather cheap daily menu with soup, main dish and drink for about 3-4$...there other dishes are also really good, and feels like good value.

A must-visit restaurant if you are in the town of Mindo, they have a variety of pizzas and various dishes for lunch and dinner. The food is always well prepared and the service from both the owners and the people who work there is great. Highly recommended.
John J — Google review
I was a little hesitant to spend the amount I did on a pizza but I couldn't be more wrong. The pizzas were absolutely delicious and tasted very authentic. Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to fill their belly.
Maddog ( — Google review
Excellent thin-crust pizza made in a wood fired oven (pizza a la leña). Normal size is good for 2 people, or more people if you add side orders. The oven is very hot so the pizza was served in less than 10 minutes. Pizza #50 with meats and green olives was tasty. Large Pilsener was just $2. The owner lady is very friendly and entertaining.

This establishment, the Serenity Mindo Lounge Bar, was not present during a previous visit but has since been renovated and adorned by a Spanish lady hailing from Spain. It is noteworthy to witness a completed ceiling, particularly in an appealing shade of blue. The ambiance exudes comfort, complemented by an ample amount of natural light. The proprietor possesses a cheerful and amiable demeanor, which adds to the overall pleasant atmosphere.
Delicious food just a couple of blocks away from the city center. We tried the black paella and the cazuela, both excellent choices. This may be the best place if you have a romantic dinner in town. Definitely would recommend it if you have the chance.
Favo N — Google review
Excellent food here! We had a private guide for the day and he said this was the only place they take tourists because no one has reported feeling poorly afterward. They use filtered water for everything (including rinsing veggies, so tourists can eat them!). The menu is vast and varied. Prices are slightly higher than other places I've eaten in Ecuador, but the food was great and it seems like the only choice if you aren't a local. Fish is fresh and delicious! Bottled water is affordable. The fried cheese and grilled trout were out of this world. I got sauce, but I wish I hadn't because it just covered up the delish fresh fish flavor! The only improvement would be to remove the blindingly bright overhead lighting for something softer. But that's a minor detail.
Melissa A — Google review
We had lunch here during our tour of Quito and surrounding areas. The food came out fresh and hot, great taste, great service, and clean and well lit inside.
Eileen W — Google review
Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch while passing through Mindo. Food was delicious. Came out quickly and hot with great flavors. Sadly we were too early for the roof top bar. Looks lovely.
N Y — Google review
Cheap, great. I posted the info in the Hostal review. $5.50 each for burger and grilled 🐔 meal dinner with beverages. I bought a double sized Pilsener local beer for $2. Total $13. +$ I tipped. Slow but polite service, but she's cooking it and serving so relax and be kind to your server. Take your time, it's Ecuador. I talked to others, mainly fellow travelers, sharing stories of vacation.

#SustainableNomads #VeganFriendly They have so many vegan/vegetarian options! I had a vegan cheese burger - the veggies were fresh and the patty was flavorful and of good texture. And they accept cards! Only wish they have reusable straws and get rid of small-packaged ketchups/mayos to generate less trash.

I really enjoy dining to get this restaurant. The service is excellent and the quality of the food is top-notch. I have tried many items on the menu and have never been dissatisfied. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Excellent food and service. Spanish omlette was delicious. My friend said the ceviche was top notch. I had the fresh grilled trout and kids enjoyed the cheeseburger. The owner introduce herself and spoke prefect English and was very friendly to us and the kids. The restaurant was very new and clean and you see that the owner cares about her business. I highly recommend this place.

Fun experience. I visited here many times over the years and you can see many improvements now. The paths are very clean and well maintained. The waterfall has good infrastructure around it that has been improved. There are clean bathrooms and a small restaurant. There is also a path to get to the waterfall without using the tarabita if you're afraid of heights. We bought tickets right at the cable car, but you can also buy anywhere in town.
Jessica G — Google review
Excellent experience. Gorgeous vegetation & waterfalls. Worth just going up just for the chair lift & cable car if you are not very mobile, you will see the forest but not the cascades. There is a small restaurant after the cable car. It is a challenging walk to the waterfalls, but not a difficult hike. You DO need to be very mobile though. I wouldn't take anyone for this walk if they were out of shape, had balance issues, painful knees or bad hips. Be prepared for muddy, wet pathways, this is a natural area.
Joanne D — Google review
Beautiful hike. I would have a light rain jacket/poncho rain happens in a cloud forest. 3 route. Route 1 has the best largest waterfall, Route 2 has the most waterfalls. Waterfall 2 an3 were supposed to bevthe next best. We enjoyed those 2. I say keep hiking but we left. Route 3 is not high on one of the guides list so we skipped that one. Bring some Deet or the other anti-mosquito repellent in a 3.4 ounce squirter bottle like Dollar Tree if possible. IDK not sure if I got bit or not. It seems it's worse in the USA. Humid hot places like Wichita, KS. People here said no anti-malarial or Yellow fever vaccine needed here. However, overall a great hike. Not too strenuous but not simple and straight pathes either. Gorgeous views. Great inexpensive trip with the Yellow sky trolley to take you to and fro.

Mindo Ziplines Tour CIA is an exhilarating adventure that offers 10 different cable routes through the lush canopy of the Mindo cloud forest. Despite some expectations for a more extreme and faster experience, the breathtaking views and engaging guides make up for it. The tour costs $20 per person for over an hour of zip-lining, which many find to be worth it.
Fantastic experience! Thank you Fernando and Michael for making this a memorable experience. Fernando was not just helping us zip down the line, he was teaching us about nature, from flowers, orchids, to birds and everything else we could see in nature along the trails. 5 star experience!
Carol B — Google review
Fernando and his staff were exceptional hosts. At the time of this review (5-23-24) the cost of over an hour of zip lining across 10 different zip lines across the valley was $20 per person. Considering how expensive it is elsewhere on other trips this made it a no-brainer situation, yes absolutely. The setup first off and safety equipment were top notch and while I’m not a rigger (so I wont argue anyone who is and can offer feedback) I have been on enough zip lines to know this was one of the better I’ve experienced for safety. That got us off on the right foot to enter into the adventure without hesitation. This was not just an ordinary zip line and there is some hiking and plant identification during the various mini hikes you take to get to other zip line points. We saw over 10 species of orchids that Fernando pointed out plus some other hard to find tropical plants. On top of it all, other zip lines charge you a fortune to get video of your experience that you pay for and then never use. This outfit doesn’t bother with the nonsense. They will let you take your own camera and will actually assist in helping you take cool pictures with your own camera or even hold the camera to assist you with your photo/video. See below for a great shot with my camera that Fernando shot that I could only dream of doing by myself. We couldn’t recommend a more fun activity for anyone looking for a great activity in the Mindo area.
Chris G — Google review
A great experience in the middle of the rain forest. Depending on the season you might find long lines to get into the basket. Other than that it takes you 1 minute to get to the other side either way a beautiful scenery on the way.
Alvaro L — Google review
So much fun! A great value too! Better safety equipment than some of the places I have been to in the United States. Make sure to do the Tarzan Swing and try the Butterfly pose!
Matt A — Google review
We had the most wonderful guides (Magaly and Michael) that provided us with enough support and guidance to not only enjoy the experience but to feel safe. We went on all 10 cables and it was a truly unforgettable experience. 10/10 would recommended.

The mountain cable car Minjoy Park in Mindo is a new and exciting tourist attraction that offers breathtaking views of the Mindo Valley and the surrounding mountains. Visitors can take a chairlift round trip for $8 per person, with an additional $5 fee if they choose to hike to the tarabita and visit the waterfalls. Although some may find the prices high for locals, it is considered reasonable for foreigners.
Great experience but not if you have a fear of heights. It is high! Beautiful views and the tower at the end is amazing to climb. Kids over 4 years old can ride with an adult. Takes about 30 min in total; 15 min there and 15 min back. If you are planning to climb the tower add an additional 20 to 30 min.

Definitely worth the ticket of admission! Round trip ticket is $8, one way is $5. It was a slow 15 minutes ride but thrilling. You are very high up, between 100 to 150 meters above ground in some sections. The only thing that keeps you in one piece is the half hook at the top of your chair lift and the metal cable. If the cable snaps or the hook slips, ... I don't want to think about it. Once reach the top, I hiked around up there for a few hours. It was a 30 minutes walk from town to Minjoy Park on dirt road, and along the river in some sections. Saw people bathing in the driver. One lady got pinned at a rock by the river rapid. The people of Mindo are very nice. A kind stranger gave me a ride back to town without me asking when he saw me trying to avoid the dust cloud from a car passing by. - 2022/09/14

This was a good excursion. Cable lifts, hiking, waterfalls, and a nice cantina for a snack at the end. Bring some hiking shoes and some water shoes. If you don't want to swim, you'll at least need to walk in the rocky water to get good pictures with the waterfalls.

We had a fantastic time at Minjoy! We will be back for a third time I am certain. It’s a great place for kids and adults. The teleferico is fantastic. You can even go in the early morning hours for birding as long as you make a reservation. The bubbles are fun for kids, Best done on a cloudy day. And there is playground with zip line for the kids. They are opening a restaurant soon. Great trails too.

We paid $8/person just to take the chairlift round trip (it's an extra $5 if you want to hike to the tarabita and visit the waterfalls). Seems like the price is increasing but for us foreigners it's alright. While this is a new tourist attraction in Mindo, it is quite thrilling. The relative distance to the ground as you continue going higher is increasing. We were the first people there at 8:30am...really sunny and avoided the afternoon rain. You get off at top and stay as long as you want before heading back down on the lift. Yes, expensive for locals so I'm hoping we got a tourist price...hoping locals or Ecuadorian natives get a discount.

Italian restaurant
La Mecha Ristorante is a fantastic Italian place that offers hearty Italian food including lasagne, cannelloni, and ravioli, alongside their famous pizzas. They also have the option to veganize their pizzas. The restaurant has received positive feedback for its fast service, attentive staff, good wine selection, and flavorful spicy oil. Despite the high prices, it's been praised for its delicious pasta dishes and spectacular pizzas.
The pizza is really good, I was a bit shocked at how light and airy it was. I'll be honest I did not have high expectations but was very happy with the food. After days of eating authentic food, I needed a taste of home.

This family owned Italian restaurant makes the best pasta we’ve enjoyed on almost a year and a half of Latin American travel. We’ve eaten here two nights in a row, and are aiming to make tonight our third visit. The pastas are delicate and tender and the sauces are loaded with rich, balanced flavor. We’ve tried almost all the pasta dishes and a pizza and all were spectacular. In Italian fashion, the Ecuadorian cook/owner, Meche, who’s name is not related to the restaurant name, came out and talked with us after our meal. One of her two sons, is studying gastronomy in Spain, but is back for the summer to cook at the restaurant, which is very cool. The pasta dishes are mostly $10.50 and pizzas range from $12 to &18. Well worth it!

great food. great service. lovely atmosphere. we got the pesto pizza and added smoked salami and it was amazing. best pizza i’ve had in ecuador. so good that we came two nights in a row. mary our server was a delight and very friendly and attentive. we loved sitting on the comfy couches outside with a view of the street. la mecha is one of my favorite places in mindo!

The restaurant has a lot of potential, with all of its pros: * pizza and gnocchi were done and served crazy fast * the waiter was attentive and pleasant * the pizza is slim but the dough does not get soggy * the wine is good * the spicy oil is great However, despite the considerably high prices, it does not completely satisfy our pretentious European expectations, because: * Although the pizza was quattro formaggi, it looked more like a Margherita * The tomato sauce does not have the flavour that the Italian pizzas typically have, it's a bit bland (although the typical cheese flavours were there) * The gnocchi texture was a bit off, a bit too soft and sticky * The complementary focaccia is a nice touch, but the food comes so fast that you get the focaccia after the food, so it becomes redundant and a waste These are minor details but that is what I expect when I pay the premium price. It's worth giving a try! A lot of people seem to enjoy it.

My husband and I had a pizza each here. The dough was good, and the toppings were nice, but the edge of the crust was seriously burnt. It was completely black and inedible. My husband commented on this when our food was brought to the table, but the server got very defensive and said that it had to be like that because pizza ovens are really hot. No other tables had a burnt pizza, and none of the reviews here included burnt crusts, so we were clearly unlucky, and the chef had taken their eye off them for too long. The middle of the pizzas were really nice, but the way we were spoken to wasn't very nice and made us feel unwelcome.

Thin crust pizza baked inside a brick oven with fresh local ingredients. The rest of the menu is also great! Best pizza in town, you won't regret it.

Excellent Italian food at a reasonable price. Its off main street down a dirt road with a sign that identifies it a Gourmet Avenue. Rustic buildings on the road that add ambiance to the view.

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Mindo, El Chef is a delightful dining spot that beautifully marries Ecuadorian flavors with international cuisine. This charming restaurant boasts a diverse menu that caters to both local and global palates, making it an ideal choice for families and travelers seeking variety. The serene garden setting enhances the experience, allowing guests to unwind while savoring their meals.
The steak was super tender, juicy, and tasty. My waitress was funny. It was a family atmosphere. I had a very nice dinner.

The food was okay, pretty good but not amazing. The price was a little high considering how little meat you get. Mainly if you compare to the Argentina restaurant on the same street, where you get 300 grams of better quality meat that is done more expertly and for 5 dollars less, there really isn't any competition. The service was generally good, but I did ask for there to be no coriander, and yet received a sauce that contained it, and wasn't offered an alternative. And even though the dish should have included avocado it didn't. When I asked about it I was told it wasn't avocado season (which is interesting because, again, I did receive avocado in the neighboring restaurant). Would have been nice if I was told in advance. I was only offered an alternative after I inquired (again, would have been nice if they would offer it without me having to ask, considering I did pay for the whole dish) and I was then only offered more of the side dishes I already had, and only of one of them. I chose broccoli, and, received like another bite of it. Needless to say, broccoli isn't exactly considerd equal to avocado price wise. So all in all, not terrible, but don't go there. There is a better option in every wayright down the street

Delicious! Get their house special. My husband said it was the best steak he’d ever had.

Really nice restaurant in Mindo. The steak and special stone steak are great. The trout, however, is out of this world. It is caught locally (the steaks and most everything but the seafood are local also, to be fair), but the trout is really special and is a typical favorite in the area. Definitely did not disappoint.
Jason M — Google review
Delicious! The steak tenderloin melts in your mouth! The papas fritas are yummy and so are the fried plantains. Remember to get them with queso! The food came out extremely fast. We also got a pitcher of lemonada. Refreshing.
Dani M — Google review
One of the biggest meals we’ve had. The fried corvina and stone lomo were amazing and the portions were massive. We went for a very late lunch around 4 pm and had to skip dinner from how full we were. Service was friendly and jt is a very local joint as well.

Had the Trucha Frita - tomato salad, trout, rice and patacones. Everything was delicious. Went back had the Lomo de la Piedra ( my steak was over cooked an tough) but it was flavorful and juice. The french fries was great .

If you find yourself in Mindo, make sure to stop by the Persian House for an unforgettable dining experience. This charming eatery offers a delightful array of vegetarian and meat dishes that are bursting with authentic flavors. The couple who runs it adds a personal touch, making every visit feel special. Their menu of the day is particularly enticing, featuring options like lentil soup, flavorful chicken, and delicious falafel that will leave your taste buds dancing with joy.
This Lunch hit the spot! Packed with big flavor which we haven’t had in a couple weeks :) Yummy yellow falafel and yummy lunch deal with soup and main course. As others have said, the menu is simple and without much description, but it will be a delicious surprise.
Amy — Google review
The menu of the day was $5 and included lentil soup, plate of rice, chicken, carrot salad and lemonade. Everything was delicious, especially the chicken!! So well flavored. The lentil soup was delicious too, just a touch salty. Highly recommend!!
Tova T — Google review
Plenty of vegetarian options and it’s the best food that we’ve eaten in months. The vegetarian loved the falafel dish and so did I! I had the lunch menu of the day which was lentil soup, a juice of the day, then the most delicious black bean and beef (Ghormeh Sabzi) dish. If you’re in Mindo then don’t miss out on this place!

Absolutely delicious falafel plate. Extremely fresh and the wraps were beyond perfect. Would highly recommend!!

Thank you for accommodating us! The food was excellent (we went back for lunch the following day). The lentil soup was served, hot, with fresh herbs and was perfect after a long day of rain and hiking. We asked for vegan options for menu del día and it was given to us, no problem. Come here if you are tired of the local fare, or if you miss fresh, hearty food cooked with olive oil.
Manlok L — Google review
Run by a lovely couple, this was the best falafel I’ve had in years and the menu of the day was just as good. Everything was fresh, flavourful and perfectly seasoned. Caters to vegetarían and vegan.

Wanted to marry the chef but her husband was too lovely for me to propose. Incredible. Most meals $5USD, cash only Recommend the eggplant, the falafel, the pollo

On the way to our hotel, we passed by Guarumo in Mindo and were intrigued by their "beer to go" sign. We decided to stop in and were greeted by Angie, who kindly offered us a selection of their tasty beers. Unfortunately, they had run out of the maracuya/mango brew which had been very popular since opening just two weeks prior. Despite this, Guarumo is a unique find in Mindo as there aren't many other craft beer options on tap.
Such a cute spot! Delicious food, excellent beer and wonderful service. Highly recommend
Nicola B — Google review
I immediately felt relaxed when I entered Guarumo. It's cozy, well decorated and very very good food and drinks. The staff are wonderful and tonight there's live music at 9 o'clock 🎶 🌱 Delicious and well made vegan and vegetarian options. ✨ Great atmosphere. 🪻 Welcoming and attentive staff. 🍷🧉 Tasty drinks, including the non alcoholic.

Not what they offer I ordered food from my hotel room because they recommended this restaurant and it was a total disappointment. The price is too high for the portion they brought me. How could this be a $12 trout if I only got 2 little pieces of fish and a bunch of fries?!
Dany S — Google review
Hands down one of the best bar we've been to in South America. We came there as it was late after our night walking tour and was surprised how good the place was. Top service, Top food and Top beer. I would recommend that anyone do himself a favor and go eat and drink there. The Hummus was insanely good, we had the salad which was refreshing and delicious and had the pizza which was great. Hazy IPA was awesome. Thanks, we wish we had another night in Mindo just to eat there again.
Idan T — Google review
Great bar with local craft beers made in Mindo. We had the IPA and the passion fruit sour and both were amazing. We also ate pizza which was average for a pub, but definitely come for the beer!

This was by far the best meal we had in Mindo. Super friendly service, fresh food and a really lovely atmosphere in a patio with plants and nice decorations. You will be happy you ate here! Try the sopa cidrayote-a squash soup make with the vegetables growing on the patio. Delicious flavor and not too creamy.

Bed & breakfast
Hosteria La Roulotte Mindo Ecuador is a hostel situated in a peaceful forest, only a 20-minute walk from the town center. It offers an amazing bird tour led by Danny (for those interested, ask for Ignacio), starting right on the hostel's grounds. The location is charming and allows guests to connect with nature, whether it be through bird watching, observing butterflies or encountering wild animals.
We had dinner here and it was absolutely lovely! Everyone was super friendly, and the food was delicious. I highly recommend the pizza it was so tasty!! The crust was absolutely amazing! Plus there are SO many hummingbirds and other birds, the atmosphere is amazing. When we come back we will definitely stay here as well :)

We stayed here for 2 nights as a family with 2 kids (ages 6 and 7) traveling from USA. Ignacio and his wife treat you as if you are staying at their own house. They have a great deal of ownership and pride in what they do. The service is excellent. When our son got sick Ignacio personally went to the pharmacy to buy medication for our son. The property is beautiful and peaceful. Good is great as well. The rooms are rustic cabins and a great fit for Mindo. We will be back again!

From the moment we arrived, we knew we made the right choice. We were greeted, and shown to our room. When we entered it was cozy room with a beautiful bathroom. The Food at the restaurant was absolutely delicious. The staff goes the extra mile to make sure you feel like family. I give it two thumbs up and will definitely be returning. Thank you for the amazing stay.

The hostel is a 20 minute walk from the town center, located in an absolutely serene forest. We did an awesome bird tour with Danny (ask for Ignacio for a tour with Danny if interested), and started on the grounds of the hostel, spotting nearly a dozen birds before hopping in the car.

It's a very lovely stay just a 5 minutes drive outside of the center of Mindo and therefore really peaceful and calm. The owner Ignacio is "muy simpático", you can feel that he built this hostería from the ground up and is truly dedicated to it. We booked a birding tour in the evening for the next early morning through him and he didn't hesitate to offer us a small breakfast at 5.45am before the tour and then a full breakfast even after 10am upon our return. The dinner from his cuisine is also very good so there is no need to go to town to eat elsewhere. Whenever you eat during daylight in the amazingly built wooden reception hall, you can sit at the table in front of the bird feeding place and watch many beautiful species from very close. We stayed there as a couple and can highly recommend it!

I totally loved this place and the owners and staff. Food was amazing, location is great near the forest and the river. Quiet, good for bird and butterfly watching. Definitely worth it!!
