(Translated by Google) An incredible museum that tells the story of the Minas Gerais Gold Cycle in the 18th century. With a variety of objects from the 18th and 19th centuries, the space has a great collection of objects from that time. Photos are allowed, but without flash. In short, a must-see for those who like the theme of the "Brazilian colonial period". (Original) Museu incrível que ajuda a contar a história do Ciclo do Ouro de Minas Gerais no século XVIII. (Translated by Google) The Gold Museum is a Brazilian museum that opened on May 16, 1946 in the city of Sabará, Minas Gerais. The museum is housed in a 17th-century house with architecture from the 17th-century colonial period. The building once housed the Old House of Intendancy and Foundry, where gold was minted and taxed, better known as the collection of the fifth by the Portuguese Crown, extracted from the District of Rio das Velhas. With the end of tax collection activities, the building was auctioned off in 1840, and was transformed into a residence, and later into a school until it was acquired by the Companhia Siderúrgica Belgo-Mineira and donated to the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Service (SPHAN). As a result, the building was renovated and transformed into a museum in 1946. Its collection includes pieces and equipment used in gold prospecting and goldsmithing. The museum also houses a press, dating back to 1670, used in foundries, and a gold ore crushing machine, which replaced slave labor in the trade. In addition to the exhibitions, the site also houses a library specializing in the history of Minas Gerais and Brazil. The Brazilian Institute of Museums, an agency of the Ministry of Culture, administers the site.

By paying a symbolic fee of R$1.00 (Feb/2019), you have access to the rich collection that includes several pieces, mostly from the 18th century, depicting chapters in the history of colonial Brazil, as well as the culture of the time. Furniture, weapons, objects used in mining, coats of arms and beautiful sacred images make up the spaces of the place that once housed the person who held the position of gold superintendent of the Portuguese crown. The place, which looks very dilapidated when viewed from the outside, holds great riches inside. The Chafariz do Kaquende, a popular tourist spot, remains in working order as evident from the regular presence of locals who frequently gather to refill their containers. The fountain holds natural and clean water which is highly regarded by those who appreciate the wonders of nature.
This public fountain is still functional and you can observe that the locals are constantly there filling their bottles. It's said that if you drink that water you'll visit Sabará again (no, thanks! once is enough for a lifetime).

The Popular Art Center - Cemig is a museum dedicated to Brazilian traditional art and folklore. It showcases a variety of art from across Brazil, including paintings, sculptures, textiles, and folkloric objects. The museum is open to the public and is located in the city of Salvador.
No entry fee or ticket necessary to see this art center/museum. All you need to do is sign your name in the book. I very much enjoyed this museum and all the art in it. Most of the art is somewhat religious in nature or deals with the lived experiences of people from the state and region. On a Friday evening/afternoon there were very few visitors and we were the only ones in most of the exhibits. I believe there were six exhibits as of November 2024.

A set meal costs R$25; the preparation takes place in an indoor area where you can't see. Self-service costs R$60 kg. People are hired but are not trained. They work based on what they have learned from other experiences. I disapprove of the conversations between employees; they often get excited about some private matter that is known to all the customers who are having lunch, especially those who are at tables closer to the kitchen. From 1 to 5 my rating is 2. From 1 to 10 my rating is 3. (Original) Ambiente bom. We weren't offered set meals (I don't know if they have this option), only by the kilo, nor were we informed of the price per kilo. When weighing our plates, I noticed that the tare weight hadn't been removed from the plate. I noticed the weigher placing a plate first for other customers, then removing the tare weight. My boyfriend put a spoonful of beans, a spoonful of rice, steak, and a little bit of fries on his plate. His plate came to 40.00. Mine, which I put a little bit of each, was even 80.00. Anyway, there are restaurants with the same quality food here in the area and at much better prices. I won't be back and I won't recommend it to anyone. Xodó, a snack bar situated in a peaceful setting, offers substantial burgers, classic sandwiches, beverages, and quick cuisine. Renowned for its outstanding milkshakes - considered the finest in BH - this traditional fast food joint is positioned at one of Praca da Liberdade's square corners in Savassi, the heart of BH.
*A great place to take picky eater kids*. My picky eater food of choice there when I was little was the chicken salad sandwich (shredded chicken with mayo). If you're looking to experience the city from a local's point of view, eating at this place is a must. It's a local treasure located right across from a park where locals love to just wander around and chill with friends and family and enjoy good weather, so you can hit two locally beloved spots in one go. :) Xodó is a family place, but they don't have any play areas like at a bigger McDonald's or whatever. However, the aforementioned park across the street was highly entertaining when I would visit with my mom after we ate when I was little. It's a wildly popular restaurant with the locals, so seating may be hard to find depending on the day and time. Instead of waiting around for a table if the place is too full, I suggest taking your food over to the park and people watch or even have a mini picnic.

School cafeteria quality cheeseburger! I could have let the quality pass if it weren't for the size and price of the soda, a water cup size 300ml for R$6. Combo small fries, drink and cheeseburger r$23.90. I think it's less than Burger King or McDonald's but I don't really know. The only good thing is its location right off Praça das Liberdades.

There was an incredible piano player playing and it was a great ambience for a rainy day in BH. The mushroom appetizer had a great texture. Charming, authentic and colorful. We sampled three different cocktails. All were very flavorful, balanced and showcase the base spirit very well. The food was bold and rich and extremely delicious. The kitchen from what I heard is run by women only. When we went there the place was busy in a lively way. We tried the gazpacho as an appetizer, and it was pretty unique and interesting. The service was attentive, fast, and on point. We had a lot of questions and the staff were very patient with us. The food from what I understand is a modern take on traditional Brazilian dishes. It's probably the best restaurant in Belo Horizonte.

We were looking forward visiting Birosca S2. We come here every time we come home to Brazil to visit our family. But this time it was just okay!!!! Instead of the over the top food and service we come to expect. The wait time between courses was really long!!!!! Like 20 to 30 minutes between courses. We had planned to bring our 93 year old Mother, because she loved the place. But I don't think it would be a great idea to put her through the long wait time. I really hope that they improve the wait time going forward. Because I really like the the restaurant on our previous visits and really wanted to try it after seeing the restaurant on American tv

The Teatro Municipal Sabará, a remarkable venue for performing arts, pleasantly surprises visitors with its unassuming facade that conceals its historical significance. Mrs. Elida's fervent passion for the theater is evident through her enthusiastic narration of its rich history. The contagious warmth and friendliness of the staff further enhance the overall experience. This extraordinary place is definitely worth exploring to gain insight into its importance as a recently renovated and culturally significant theater.

(Translated by Google) The chapel is located about 6 km from the center of Sabará and was closed, but looking at some photos, it seems to be very pretty inside. Regardless of this, the panoramic view from up there is magnificent, you can see all of Sabará and other cities around, such as BH. It is worth the climb, if only for the view and the peace of the place.

(Translated by Google) It's definitely worth taking the risk on the dirt road. We took the BR381 highway toward Sabará: It's not bad, narrow road, dry weather, low car... you have to go slowly. Like any dirt road, it has its challenges, but it's not impossible to get there. The place is beautiful!

Nestled within the captivating landscapes of Morro São Francisco, recent explorations along the Estrada Real and Caminho da Bahia have unveiled some remarkable historical treasures. Among these are the intriguing remnants of a lime kiln and beautifully preserved pavement that tell tales of bygone eras. Additionally, visitors can discover the ruins of Arraial Velho and the hauntingly serene Cemiterio dos Ingleses, both set against the lush backdrop of Serra da Piedade near Arraial de Pompeu.

According to historical records, the renowned artist Aleijadinho resided in Casa de Alejadinho in Sabara while working on the decoration of Nossa Senhora do Carmo Church. It is believed that he lived there for approximately 14 years between 1770 and the late 18th century. Regrettably, the house is currently closed and serves as a significant historical landmark associated with Aleijadinho's artistic contributions during that period.

The space is prepared for conversation circles, games with children and the sale of handicrafts made by people from the community. (Translated by Google) Wonderful experience! Great location! Very pretty and cozy place. Upon entering, we came across an aviary full of cockatiels and a really cool fountain-shaped sink! The restaurant is large, the decor is very specific and tasteful, with plants and things that remind us of the city, retro objects and some that remind us of grandma's house! Everything was clean and organized. The place has many tables, a space that looks like a bed to rest after lunch, the kitchen is very pretty with lots of information and the owner is very friendly! The atmosphere of the restaurant is very interesting! At the time, there was ambient music playing (MPB), a great playlist by the way! There is space and instruments for live music! I went on a Thursday and it was empty, so we were served immediately. There were 4 options that day and we ordered tropeiro, steak and smashed potatoes, liver with okra and everything was very good, extremely tasty and looked good. It had been a long time since I had eaten food so seasoned and with its own flavor, we were extremely satisfied! We ordered natural juice and it was very good! We will go back to try other dishes and desserts, as we didn't know they served them! The price is fair! It exceeded our expectations regarding both the atmosphere and the food! Congratulations!

(Translated by Google) This was my first visit. I live in the city and will be writing a review based on the date I visited, 03/30/2025, a Sunday, with few tables occupied, a maximum of six. Positive points: The location, atmosphere, decor and food. Negative points: Menu with little variety and poor service. When we arrived, we were shown the menu and informed that there were 5 options available for the day with ready-made dishes. We made our choice and ordered a beer (cold). We had to wait almost 20 minutes until we were served the drink. The beer arrived, but it was warm. The food didn't take long. However, when we observed the service at the neighboring tables, we saw that there were other options available on the menu and we could observe the poor service provided to the other customers. At the table next to us, some tourists asked for water when they sat down, because they were very thirsty. The drink took a long time to arrive and once again, the menu was not properly explained. The same situation at the table across from us. A family waited a long time to be served a drink. Finally, when paying, the waitress didn't even thank us or ask what we thought of the place, the food, the service... She didn't even make eye contact when charging. In short, for a restaurant with an intimate atmosphere, practically in the backyard of the house, the service needed to be more humanized and in line with the proposal of the place. This review is directed at the owners, because for a small restaurant like this, the service provided directly reflects the owners' attention to the customers. I hope there will be a significant improvement in the service, because Sabará needs restaurants with the quality that the city and its visitors deserve. (Original) Foi a minha primeira visita. Pontos positivos: A localização, ambiente, a decoração e a comida.

Sebastião in Sabará is a charming gem that truly captures the essence of Minas Gerais cuisine. With its cozy atmosphere adorned with vintage details, it offers a delightful dining experience. (Translated by Google) We were delighted with the place, the atmosphere, the food, the drinks and the service. 🥰 The seasoning is simply delicious, typical Minas Gerais food made with garlic and love. When we arrived we could smell the garlic coming from outside the restaurant. We liked it right away. We ordered the Pappardelle dishes with sautéed vegetables and Minas cheese sauce + Beef Ragu (super creamy and juicy😋), with rice, beans and a seasoned salad. Everything comes separately, as it should be, beautiful to the eye and elegant, after all, we start eating with our eyes, don't we? Everything was delicious, very tasty, you can tell on the palate that the food is made with love ♥️ To drink we ordered lemon juice with green apple and jabuticaba juice with passion fruit, both were delicious, just right. The atmosphere is rustic, everything is very organized with a view of some mountains and even one of the many little churches in Sabará. Come on guys, come and enjoy the place and the Minas Gerais cuisine in Sabará. I bet you won't regret it. And before I forget, the prices are fair for the quality of the dishes! It's simple, done right! Grazi is a sweetheart, super attentive and very polite. She served us very well and loves what she does. Cooking is an art that touches the soul and enchants hearts. We love trying new flavors and especially new gastronomic experiences. We'll definitely be back. I'll try all the dishes. I recommend it with my eyes closed!

We searched Google for a good restaurant in the city for lunch. The one that came up with the best rating was Sebastião Gourmet. And it was located right in the Terra Santa neighborhood. Perfect! A good restaurant near the Terra Santa Cemetery. Great, right? No! In fact, in Sabará, the Terra Santa neighborhood is located on the opposite end of the Terra Santa Cemetery. And Sabará is a very spread out city, really. Thank goodness we didn't give up and trusted Google Maps. We continued on through the narrow streets of Sabará, climbed one of the city's hills, and finally arrived at the culinary paradise that is Sebastião Gourmet. Thank goodness we didn't give up. The Sebastião Gourmet restaurant is excellent. You'll soon come across a beautiful view of the city. The menu surprised us with its prices. Very reasonable prices to enjoy the refined cuisine of Sabará. With the friendly and always available waitress Lorena, we learned the specialties of Sabará cuisine: jaboticaba, banana and Ora Pronobis. All of the dishes at Sebastião Gourmet contain some of these ingredients. We chose the salad as a starter. In addition to the greens, the salad comes with Cheese Dice, sweet potato chips and a sauce with Jaboticaba. At the first bite, my girlfriend exclaimed: "What a wonderful Cheese Dice! I've never had a better one in my life". For the main course, we ordered tilapia fillet with mashed potatoes. The food was deliciously juicy with a warm seasoning that made your mouth water. The dessert was another delight. We couldn't choose the dessert. It would be a surprise. And, in fact, a delicious surprise. It was a jaboticaba ice cream with chestnuts and lemon mousse. Wonderful! We were told that each colerada should contain the 3 layers of the delicacy. Fabulous! The flavors spread in your mouth, flooding you with sour and sweet at the same time. And, at the end, we had the house coffee. But it's not just a coffee. It's a great ritual. The coffee is prepared right there, in front of you. We learned to taste the coffee with banana brown sugar. It was unforgettable. Oh, I can't forget to mention the Jaboticaba and Passion Fruit juice. Splendid! So, only those who taste Sebastião Gourmet can truly savor Sabará. At the end of the day, the sadness of going to a wake was replaced by the joy of discovering a wonderful restaurant. Perfeito!

The food reminds you of your mother's, the juice with an unusual passion fruit + jaboticaba flavor is unmissable. Grazi is beautiful and also serves fresh coffee accompanied by banana brown sugar with mint leaves, which ends the moment with a flourish. Go slowly, but with high expectations.

We had lunch and dinner, everything very well-prepared and very tasteful. The place is delightful, small and cozy. The owner and her husband chat while preparing the meal, making it a very pleasant experience. I tried freshly brewed unsweetened coffee for the first time, accompanied by a special rapadura (sugary). To this day, I drink coffee without sugar, and I remember that I started there, lol.

The service is in transition, which did not interfere with the gastronomic experience. It was just the dish of the day, but it was the most delicious "simple food" we have ever eaten. Sautéed potatoes, pork loin and a Swiss lemonade with apple that were worth the experience. I complemented it with the lettuce seasoning, which was divinely sweet and sour. Oliveira Pizzeria is a beloved spot for pizza enthusiasts, especially in Sabara, where many locals consider it the best place to indulge in delicious pies. Regular customers rave about the quality of the pizza, which keeps them coming back for more. However, some patrons have expressed frustration with delivery times that can stretch up to two hours, leading to a bit of an exhausting experience when trying to track their orders.

(Translated by Google) Honestly, it was a disappointment compared to other pizzerias in Belo Horizonte. The pizza was unfilled and missing ingredients, not to mention the 35 cm pizza or 12 slices. I simply felt cheated because it was supposed to have 8 slices, but the 12 slices are small. For the price, at least it should have had more toppings and quality. The purchase was disappointing, especially on my birthday. I ordered the chicken with catupiry cheese, but it didn't have cream cheese, and the pizza didn't have pepperoni. I think the insert is just to fool fools.

Previously, everything was very good, the pizzas, the service, the delivery time. However, the quality of the services, especially the service and logistics, has dropped a lot. Today I had a terrible experience. We ordered a pizza. It took over an hour. When the driver arrived, the card machine was having problems (he already knew about the machine's condition). After he contacted the attendant, he was told to go back to the pizzeria to get another machine and take the pizza back. We were upset because my nephew was here just waiting for the pizza to arrive so he could go home (it's his birthday). We called Erica at the pizzeria to try to understand this attitude. She was very rude and impolite, and at no point did she even try to ease the situation. She even said that "if we stopped being your customers, there wouldn't be any problems because you have many. You will certainly lose some customers." The companies think they are the best here... they understand that the competition is weak. So, they offer a better product. Yes. Better. But, on the other hand, they have terrible service, delivery that is too uncommitted and zero after-sales service. They are total amateurs. Zero empathy!!! Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! Pizzaria Oliveira is like this: order at 6pm and it arrives at 9pm. Pizza arrives cold, just like their service... it makes me want to set up a pizza delivery service and teach these people how to serve a customer. To conclude, I ordered today, 02/16/24. It got worse. Now they don't even apologize. I ordered at 8:27pm and it arrived at 11pm. The estimated delivery time was 1:40am. They really want to break the bank. Pizza is excellent, but it doesn't sell itself: if they understand that, this rating here will start to improve. Less than 4 is unacceptable! Péssimo! Péssimo! Péssimo! Pizzaria Oliveira é o seguinte: peça as 18h pra chegar as 21h. Piorou. Agora nem desculpas eles pedem. Pedi as 20:27 e chegou 23h. Previsão era de 1:40 para entrega. Realmente querem quebrar. However, this time I was unlucky. I ate it and then started to feel sick, vomiting and intense diarrhea. I needed to go to the emergency room. As the diarrhea was intense, I had food poisoning + ruptured rectal veins, which meant I had to undergo a mini-surgery at Belo Horizonte Hospital. I spent almost 400 on medication alone. I contacted the company, which kindly responded and offered to help me pay for the medication. At the time, I refused, but since the expenses were high and I needed to go back today, I decided to ask them for help. I received a response from the owner, claiming this time that it was not because of the food that I felt sick and that he could help me with 40.00. I have reports, exams, and prescriptions proving that it was food poisoning after eating their sauce, which was the only meal I ever ate. After their clueless response, claiming it wasn't from the food, I decided to report it here. I'm filing a police report and will assert my rights, not only for the fact, but for the inconvenience, the lack of empathy, and the amount that was taken by surprise with these expenses that I wasn't expecting. (Translated by Google) This restaurant honors Minas Gerais cuisine, simply one of the best flavors I've ever tried. Not to mention the service, which matches the quality of the dishes!

(Translated by Google) It's a shame I only discovered this gem on my last day in Belo Horizonte. The food was incredibly good, with a taste of home. I received excellent service and paid a more than fair price. I hope to return to Minas Gerais soon to visit them again. Espero voltar pra Minas logo pra visitá-los novamente.
