Pucallpa in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Pucallpa, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Pucallpa is a major Peruvian Amazon city on the banks of the Ucayali River, serving as a jumping-off point for river travel and jungle excursions. Nearby Lake Yarinacocha is known for boat trips, sunsets over the water, and access to surrounding rainforest communities. The city offers a window into Shipibo-Konibo culture through handicrafts, textiles, and local markets. Visitors can also sample regional Amazonian cuisine, including freshwater fish and plantain-based dishes, in a setting that feels more off-the-beaten-path than Peru’s main tourist hubs.
With favorites like Pollería Ben Hur, Golf Restaurant, and COMUNICACIONES CALUZ, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Kitty Fusión & Tradición Restaurant and El Braserito so you can get the best taste of Pucallpa while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Plaza de Armas of Pucallpa is a vibrant square at the heart of the city, surrounded by shops, restaurants, and an iconic cathedral. During evenings, it transforms into a lively hub with street performers and local craft vendors. The well-maintained plaza offers a pleasant escape from the sun with clean gardens and interesting sculptures. It's also considered safe and has undergone recent updates for an enhanced experience.
It is a must see of course. A very safe area.

Frank A — Google review
Although there is not much to do here, you do feel safer here as a tourist compared to the Plaza de Reloj. You don't get approached as much here. It is maintained by the city and it is clean (usually). The Pucallpa sign is a nice touch, and there are some informative sign boards nearby to read if you want to walk around. There are some benches too. During the evening this place gets busy as the weather cools down.
Joycelin V — Google review
Sadly, it’s closed for renovations, which would continue until October. Absolutely nothing to do right now there.

Plaza del Reloj Público de Pucallpa is home to a historic clock tower that has become an iconic symbol of the city. The tower is particularly captivating at night when it is illuminated against the dark sky, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely evening stroll. Located north of the Plaza de Reloj, this park offers a beautiful view of the UCAYALI River and is just a short walk from major hotels in Pucallpa.

Jorge V — Google review
It's chaotic and there actually isn't much to see. The clocktower is cool, and if the surrounding gardens have fountains on, then those are worth checking out too. I wouldn't dedicate more than 20 mins here. The view of the Ucayali river is cool and the Rio Ucayali sign is nearby. Do not come here expecting peace or to be left alone if you are a foreign traveller. People will always pester you into buying something informally or cat-call you if you're a woman. Makes for a very uncomfortable experience and ruins some of the natural beauty of the plaza. Those things alone drop my rating to 2 stars.
Joycelin V — Google review
Nice place for locals for gatherings. But, for a foreigner is a no-no place. Everyone tries to harass you to sell things or to ask you where you are from. Why people don’t understand that you just want to enjoy the view and to appreciate the clock? Strange place or strange locals?🤔
