Concon in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Concon, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Concón is known for its broad Pacific beaches and impressive coastal dunes, which offer striking sunset views and opportunities for sandboarding and hiking. Its rocky shoreline and viewpoints, such as those along Avenida Borgoño, are popular for watching waves and seabirds. The town is also regarded as one of Chile’s key seafood and “reineta” (pomfret) capitals, with many restaurants overlooking the ocean. Located just north of Viña del Mar and Valparaíso, it works well as a relaxed base for exploring the central Chilean coast.
With favorites like Oz Foods Concon, Papa Johns Pizza, and Concon Dunes, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Oz Foods Concon and El Club de Pedro y Fabiola so you can get the best taste of Concon while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Nestled along the stunning Chilean coastline, just north of Valparaiso, the Concon Dunes are a must-visit destination for adventure seekers and nature lovers alike. These impressive dunes rise dramatically from the shore, offering breathtaking views of both the ocean and the vibrant cityscape. The town of Concon itself is a lively resort area known for its beautiful beaches and bustling nightlife, but it’s these towering sand formations that truly steal the show.
A beautiful place to visit while being in viña del mar. Stay for the sunset, beautiful pictures. Great view of the pacific ocean. Easy access to the Dunes. No charge.
Guillermo R — Google review
Incredible to visit. Great explanation at the seaside display. It's very tragic to see encroaching development. Also erosion due to people trampling plants is apparent. Gently visit while you can...
Liam O — Google review
I've been in and around the dunes quite a few times during my stay and haven't seen anything like it previously. It's size is quite impressive and seems almost randomly placed. I would recommend to wear comfortable clothing (no high heels or tight clothing) especially for your 1st time as you could trip and tumble on the sand that honestly gets quite slippery sometimes. If you visit I'd highly recommend going straight to the highest point(s) and then working your way down as the view from the top is pretty impressive (especially at night for the buildings lights). You get to see the ocean, the coastline, buildings, and more. I'd also choose wisely how much activity you're planning on doing as if you go super down on the dunes (especially the middle part near the ocean) it can be pretty hard to get back up without running. Definitely a great place for a morning or late afternoon walk (especially for a workout).
Xoom T — Google review
The best sunset is in Concón. The sun shines on you all the way to your heart. Great place for picnic with friends or partners. You can get there by car or bus.
Jhaneth G — Google review
Nice place, but not impressive The Concon dunes are fine to visit if you’re nearby, good ocean view, soft sand, and a breeze. Nothing too special though, just simple natural dunes. It’s not heavily protected or managed, so it feels raw and calm. Worth a short stop, especially for sunset photos.
Khumoyun A — Google review
It's a beautiful view for pictures, to meditate and rest. I went in 2 different occasions and both times was really pretty. If you visit close to the sunset, that view is very pretty even if it's really cold in winter. Also, in summer is really refreshing.
Isis N — Google review
Really beautiful dunes, especially nice place to watch the sunset from. If you're wanting to try sand surfing remember to bring cash and there may be some people renting their boards
T — Google review
The sunset up the dunes is amazing. With around 10 minutes you can hike to te top. The access is easy and it’s definitely worth it.

(Translated by Google) Very bad experience. We went as a family with our assistance dog WITH A CERTIFICATE OF ASSISTANCE FROM THE MINSAL and in a very bad way a gentleman told us that we could not enter (without even greeting us first). It was extremely rude and restricts the standards that certify companion animals and assistance for people with disabilities. It's a shame that they DISCRIMINATE against people with disabilities BY NOT LETTING THEM ENTER even if they have all the documents. NOT RECOMMENDED. They could at least improve their customer service or leave more polite people at the entrance. Responding to what was commented below, my dog WAS with his attendance card but since the person who receives the public did not allow further dialogue (we were not able to set foot in the premises) he was hardly going to read it. Furthermore, those who accompanied us and entered DID speak with him, telling him about the presence of the credential and he only responded that he was not the owner and that he followed the orders that had been given to him. And assistance dogs are not required to wear a leash (which would not have been a problem either). I hope they cover in the same way the day when an ASD or physically disabled child arrives with their assistance dog, because apparently they have little capacity for dialogue to be such a place for the “protection” and integrity of its users. (Original) Muy mala experiencia. NO RECOMENDADO.

(Translated by Google) Delicious place, but when you pay, the owner of the place charges you up to 50%, bad for the parents who don't know how it works. Charge for each adult who enters accompanying their child. It happened to us that a boy arrived almost at the end of the birthday to look for his little brother and charged us $17,000 as a guest. It's good that he wants to win but that left a bitter taste. Not to mention the empty glasses of extra coffee that charged us $1,000 for each glass (Original) Rico lugar, pero al momento de pagar la dueña del local te cobra hasta los suspiros, mal ahí por los padres que no saben cómo funciona. (Translated by Google) As a place to celebrate a birthday I would give it 4 stars (for the first two points), but unfortunately there are things to improve. For my part, I hired the pack of 30 people, and I give two stars for the following: 1) I think that only half an hour to set the scene is too little, it should be between 45 to 60 minutes 2) The departure rule is not clear, it is assumed that after 3 hours they should be outside, so the games end up going out after approximately 2 hours. Therefore, the 3 hours are: 30 minutes to decorate, 2 hours of play, 30 minutes to get all and literally expel the guests. 3) Even though two-year-olds are not considered, I told my 1 and a half year old daughter how she "goes down" to the games and "uses" them. I think my daughter was standing on the trampoline with her cousin for less than 20 minutes. 4) WORST OF ALL, counting as "guests" parents who arrive to pick up their child before the end time. There were about 15 minutes left until everything was over and the parents began to arrive to look for their children. When the parents entered the names and obviously between calling the children and staying talking about how they passed and greet them, he took them 10 to 15 minutes. My surprise was great when they were charging me extra money for the "guests" (parents who were there for less than 15 minutes). Imagine that a mom who apparently already knew the "system" even told me that if he wanted to go and return later (obviously I told him no, but I had to end up paying extra).

Roca Oceánica is a nature sanctuary located on a small rocky promontory, offering stunning observation areas and abundant marine bird sightings. Visitors can enjoy watching the waves crashing against the rocks and take in panoramic views of the coastline, making it a perfect spot for photography enthusiasts. While the parking lot is limited, making it necessary to plan accordingly, the site's popularity makes it worth returning to. It's recommended to visit during weekdays for a more tranquil experience.
Beautiful spot to watch the waves crash against the rocks and get a good view of the coast. Great photo opportunities abound. The parking lot is tiny so prepare to have to come back later as this popular spot only fits around 6 cars. It's better to come during the week if you can!

Roca Oceánica Nature Reserve offers stunning views of the impressive Concón Dunes and Valparaíso in the distance—making this a must-see stop for anyone traveling along the scenic, winding ocean road connecting Concón to Viña del Mar. The natural reserve—and lookout—is a headland of great geological, archaeological, and marine biological value, rising over 80 feet above sea level. We walked a couple of hours to get there from our place in Viña del Mar and would do it again in a heartbeat. Highly, highly recommend it!

I just visited end of Sept 2025. The Pros and Cons. All I really wanted was to get delicious machas a la parmesana. Everytime I come to Chile, I have tons of Machas. For past 30 years I’ve always had machas and they always taste fabulous. Not this time. It had no flavor. I feel like they forgot to add an ingredient. I didn’t want to complain cuz I was meeting a dear friend from high school - it wasn’t worth it. We both agreed the service was spectacular. I also ate another dish and it was okay. The ambience was great and what was expected from such a great location. The lower section is amazing and it seems every table in lower location has each great view. The place is very clean including the bathrooms. They attended us quickly without reservation and it all worked out okay. I’m still bumbed about the machas. I feel like this trip I missed them. Next time!

I really enjoyed the place. There are 2 floors, you can sit inside and outside. Spectacular view to the ocean. Many seafood and meat options. Fantastic place!

This was my first place to eat in Vina Del Mar. It was recommended by friends and they asked me to get traditional dishes from Chile. I didn’t know what to expect. Everything was fried and with a lot of French fries😅 the conchas were good as well as drinks and the view phenomenal! I think I will try something else next time but that’s why my 4 ⭐️

As the checkout of the villa was at mid day, we could not have lunch at the lodge, so we looked for a place to dine near the coat. The commendation was at “Aquí Jaime” locate at Concón town. The coastal road where the restaurant is located is being rebuilt, so it goes on one direction, which was difficult for us to arrive from the direction we were coming from. The services is very good, and fast. We asked for “Locos” a type of Abalone that is collected from the coast by divers. This is the first time I have a very tener “Loco”, guess this was the farmed version of the Asian Abalone which is bigger. Although the food and services was excellent, and not having wine, the bill was pricy for Chilean standards, every sider is charged separately, even the dark butter for the fish.

Visited this place after a long day at the beach.🌞👍 Wonderful views of the bay area, ocean and buildings behind. Modern and up market ambience with outdoor seating. You can see small fishes and otters swimming around the rocky shores and some seagulls sitting on the rocks waiting for a quick bite while you enjoy your meal. The staff is helpful and courteous. Seafood is the speciality here. Tried shellfish and crispy fried squid.🐙🍤🍛🍴 The quality was fresh and good. The quantity of the dishes were satisfactory. Taste was pleasant and refreshing. The pricing was reasonable. Overall a nice place to be and soak in the amazing atmosphere. Me and my friends enjoyed our time here and recommend this place to all visitors.🎉🎊🍸🍺🍻🍷🍹
