Maria Mulata is a popular restaurant and bar located in Palomino, Colombia. The restaurant offers a diverse international menu and is known for its vibrant atmosphere. Palomino, situated in La Guajira, is a must-visit destination with its beautiful sandy beaches and lush gardens. Visitors can enjoy delicious thin-crust pizza at La Frontera Pizzeria Bar or dine amidst the beautiful gardens at La Happycleta.
I had an incredible stay here! The bar has a super cool atmosphere with great music, tasty drinks, and the perfect setup to meet fellow travelers. The hostel is clean, comfortable, and conveniently located – ideal for relaxing after a day of exploring. But what really made this place special was the owner. Super friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with local tips or just share a good conversation. You can really feel that they care about the place and the people who visit. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for a social, laid-back place with a personal touch!

I stayed a night here for only 35k pesos, super affordable. That comes with a huge free cocktail too. And they always have free coffee and cold drinking water. Staff was nice too. Nothing fancy, but all good!

A must stop if you are ever in Palomino!! All the staff is super kinda and welcoming. Free yoga with amazing instructors!! Free shots!! Different themed nights EVERY day of the week! HUGE burgers!! Super close to the beach!! Literally the best place in Palomino ♥️♥️
Calisa W — Google review
Been meaning to leave this review for some time now. What an epic memory this was for my partner and I! Besides the how cool, unique, and friendly this hostel was, we had a blast of a night and it all started with the bartender Emanuel! On our travels we always joked about getting matching tattoos but are broke travelers so never wanted to drop the coin. This dude told us if we get the maria mulata hostel logo as a tattoo, not only would it be free but we would get a free drink deal for 24 hours, so obviously we had to take him up on that offer! We had so much fun, made a ton of new friends there and even convinced some other salty American lads to get the tattoo after us! This place is just one big ball of good vibes and the best place to party by the beach before or after your trip in to tayrona national park (although I would suggest after). Thanks Maria mulata. I shall remember that night for the rest of my life!

My girlfriend and I got the private room which is an incredible value for money. The place can get a little noisy cuz it's a popular bar in Palomino but the nature that surrounds you is incredible. They have a few parrots and even an owl. The staff is super friendly. We enjoyed talking with them and spending the time around
Ori G — Google review
Weird place. Went for a few drinks but got the happy our deal. It was more expensive than the menu listed and was very watered down. As other reviews say, they just want you to get very drunk. The waitress who had no English, no issue with that, sat at our table for 10 minutes on her phone. The whole thing was very weird. When we asked for the bill we were given a free drink on the house which was very strong, felt like they were nearly trying to get us very drunk to spend more. The people behind the bar were weird, giving gentrification. All in all, a weird vibe
Cian Q — Google review
Weird place. Great drinks but the 3 for 2 deal isn’t especially cheap. Staff are pushy about drinks. Great place to get ratarsed but strange vibe. Also they will give you an unwanted double strength cocktail when you try to leave. Food was good! Again it’s kinda pricy but we had a good time. Only one toilet in the place which serves the busy bar and the hostel.

I came to this bar, had the best time of my life, the cocktails were so delicious. If you are ever in Palomino make this a priority x

Beaches
Playa Palomino is a beautiful tropical beach with palm trees just a few meters from the water, creating a picturesque setting. The sand is soft and pleasant to walk on, and the sea is stunning, especially on sunny days. While it can be windy and the waves rough at times, it offers a laid-back atmosphere with good vibes. The beach stretches for about a mile without large or tall buildings nearby.
A mix a mountain jungle beauty and the ocean.. the ocean isn’t as blue because it’s more of a surf beach and the waves kick up the sand
Zac B — Google review
I don't understand why this is a major tourist area - there is basically no beach as others have mentioned and the little areas there are have no or half dead vegetation that resembles more a trash site than a beach. Pair that with masses of people who just want to drink and party and you have a place that's not for me. Anyone who finds this beach beautiful has my sympathies as they clearly never have seen a beautiful beach before. The one cool thing is that when you walk around in town you may see some tropical birds. Other than that badly maintained dirt roads and not anything resembling Colombian culture. It's more like a springbreak destination or Mallorca...
Suuz K — Google review
I visited Palomino beach in late September and the water was warm and very easy to float in so I enjoyed swimming there immensely. The heat made taking a dip especially refreshing. At least when I visited, the undertow was not so strong to be dangerous and there were children swimming in the water and nobody seemed preoccupied. The beach itself is narrow but the sand was good and if you wish there are chairs to rent in front of the bars and restaurants that line the beach. Most important of all, it was possible to sit on the beach and not be harassed every other minute by aggressive vendors which makes it much more enjoyable than the majority of beaches in Colombia. No, it is not Hawaii or the Seychelles but Im not sure why anyone comes here with those expectations. It's a nice, quieter beach on a less developed part of the Caribbean coast connected to a hippie town.
Michael M — Google review
Nice but small. Edit. Ok so we have been here a few days now and love it. Think of a small town with a beach about a mile long. No large or tall buildings to date, just normal size and sometimes with whatever materials they can find. There are some much nicer places to stay going east of the beach. We will make plans on coming back
Daniel B — Google review
the beach is very much declining, so not a lot of space, and sadly theres a lot of rubbish. but theres some spots inbetween the river/coco beach and palomino village which people have not touched under the palmtrees whitout any houses or anything (pictured). about 10-15 minutes walk from palomino village.
Julia H — Google review
Nice beach, less disturbances than in Cartagena or Santa Marta. Much more foreigner tourism which you’ll evidently see. Not too many vendors on the beach which is nice. The waves are very strong so take caution.
Rafael R — Google review
The beach is beautiful, but the road to this place is in bad conditions, the local stores should be improved with better services (bathrooms, tables, water connections) and you can rent tends with moderate prices.
Luis S — Google review
Sadly, as beautiful as it is, this beach has been destroyed and the water is coming up. I would not recommend swimming here as the water is very dangerous. But Palomino is a beautiful place and 6th street provides great restaurants and bars and a great ambience, I really enjoyed my time here.

Casa Cocotte Palomino is a must-visit restaurant in the charming town of Palomino, located in La Guajira, Colombia. This restaurant stands out as one of the best dining spots in the area, offering new and delicious dishes with a different menu every day. Visitors rave about the friendly staff and owner, creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests to enjoy their dining experience.
Best food that you will find in Palomino, hands down. Everything was amazing, from the cocktails to dessert. They have a changing menu and you can check it out in the entrance if there is something that fits you. Only open in the evening for dinner when we went there. They are very aware of allergens, so you can just ask directly if there is anything you need to consider. Definitely recommend!!
Melina R — Google review
Without a doubt, the best restaurant in Palomino. The beef was cooked to perfection, honestly, there was nothing to complain about. My boyfriend couldn’t stop talking about the amazing taste until our last day in Colombia. The service was excellent, and the location was perfect. I’d love to come back, though unfortunately, it’s a bit far.
Aneta — Google review
Me and my wife had dinner here mid June 2025 and had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious - you can tell the chefs know what they are doing. The quality can easily hold up to any fancy European restaurant. Also worth mentioning, the vegetarian options are great as well (my wife is vegetarian). You can also pay with regular Visa cards, which is very convenient in this area as well. The size of both, starters and mains, could even be a little less generous. We would have loved to try the desert as well, but were too full after the first two courses. Overall, an absolutely recommendation if you stay in Palomino!

They change the menu every day and the food is prepared in front of your eyes with love. We had the fillet mignon and a few cocktails to go with it.
Chad M — Google review
The venue is stunning, and the food is simply outstanding. The menu changes daily, offering guests not only a variety of dishes but also unique cocktails each day. Moreover, the place doubles as a vocational training facility for the local community, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Friendly cats and ducks roam freely, adding to its charm.

Very nice restaurant in Palomino. The menu changes every day and the food is delicious and the service is great. The ambiance in the garden is also very nice.

What a delightful, and unexpected, exquisite dining experience we enjoyed here. Truly a gastronomic oasis in a village full of burger shacks and cheap food. Each dish was prepared from scratch, excellent taste and course pacing. If you find yourself in Palomino, you should make time to visit this restaurant. Menu changes every day, and you definitely won’t be disappointed.

Visitors can enjoy its offerings while exploring the beautiful surroundings of Palomino and its stunning beaches.
We went there twice because the food was really tasty. Also good vegetarian and vegan options. You really have to try the house dessert! It was really tasty! We can also recommend the cocktails even if they have a bit less alcohol in it.

After a great river adventure in Don Diego, we arrived to Palomino looking for a place to have lunch. We were passing by and enter Sua. The atmosphere was great, and a look at the menu convinced us. The SUA hamburguer was absolutely delicious. The shrimp casserole was fine, so was the sea bass. As dessert we had a lemon cheesecake and a chocolate volcano. Beware, black coffee is really strong!!!. Sua is definitely a great choice for good food in Palomino, but pricey. Not a budget restaurant. $$$$

Excellent food. Very fast paced restaurant. Amazing environment and views. Loved the food itself. Respectful and chilled staff. Reasonable prices. Best food we had so far in Colombia. Clean place and they offered to help us with our luggage. Will be back soon. Thank you.

The best fresh fish experience in all of Palomino. We had Corvina slightly pan fried then finished in the oven. Cooked to perfection. Husband and wife owner. So welcoming. Outstanding experience. Make sure its on your list for places to eat when in Palomino.

Good place and good food, a little overpriced being Palomino, but good option. For some reason their limonada de coco gave my friends and I a stomachache... Or at least that what we blame. Other than that, nice presentation and live shows.

By far the best restaurant in Palomino! The unique Fried Lion Fish and the Caribbean Trilogy were among the best dishes in the area!

Pretty place with nice vibe. But the food was really mediocre and very expensive. Almost 30 000 for a tiny vegetarian dish (we took pasta and quinoa) is just not fine. In addition it took them very long to bring the food.

Really great food. I can't believe I didn't try this place sooner. This place is the creation of two beautiful women who are just as beautiful and amazing as the food they make. I was impressed by all the food and the love and creativity that they pour into each dish. Highly recommend 👌.

Nice little spot with outdoor seating. Service and food were great. You can customize your poke bowl and they offer some main dishes as well like curry. We would have liked if they were open in the mornings as well as they have açaí bowl

What a nice place! We were welcomed by the friendly staff and they immediately apologized because there was a power outbreak in the city. They set up a table with candles for us and she gave us some recommendations. And the food was insane! We have been in Thailand before and the curry I had was very, very close maybe even better than the best ones I had in Thailand! We also had mambo, pad Thai and carimañolas (place calls itself Colombian-Thai Fusion Kitchen). Everything tasted very, very good! So happy to find this place. They also had very good prices! We wanted to come back the next day but sadly we didn’t see that they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Wow. One of the best poke bowls I’ve EVER had! I tried the peanut “meat” (all vegan) which was soooo tasty. I also drank a homemade kefir (water not milk) which was delicious. The service was really lovely and it was nice to sit in the garden 😊 10/10 recommend!

We stumbled upon this restaurant in Palomino and we don’t regret stopping by! The staff was so nice and the food was great. Turcolandia Pizzeria in Palomino is a must-visit for its thin-crust pizzas topped generously. The Caribbean ambiance with unique seating adds to the experience. Apart from the heavenly pizzas, they offer homemade whiskey and sauces. Visitors rave about the delicious and flavorful pizzas, often returning for more during their stay. The selection of amazing local oily sauces complements the delicious thin-crust pizzas served at Turcolandia.
Probably the best pizza I’ve had in Palomino. I absolutely loved the theme - some form of UFO comes in the form of pizza and blows your mind. Why not? We ordered the primavera medium the first night (which was enough for two people). It was so delicious we came back for another pizza night. This time we attempted their biggest size and devoured it. We ordered the chicken with mushrooms, and the other half was with olives. Yum!! Ok, I have to let you in on a secret: get their juices. The Medicinal is one of the most refreshing blends of tangy, sweet, and satiating drinks. And yes, we had it both nights.
Chris A — Google review
Unreal pizzas here!! One of the best pizzas on my Central/South America trip, owner was super friendly took some time to chat with us and explain all the different sauces. Nice thin crust not too heavy on the stomach and stacked with toppings and the extra sauces are amazing. (Chilli/Honey and the Pineapple ones were so sweet and flavoursome)
Thomas V — Google review
Local atmosphere for a beautiful pizza, portions are huge. Pizza was great but didn't taste like your expected pizza, it tasted more like a Flammekueche. They give you plenty of homemade sauces that go from not spicy to very hot. Overall I liked the experience and will come back there for sure.
Philippe G — Google review
Amazing pizza, the base was thin and crispy, plenty of toppings and they give you a wide selection of delicious sauces to add. Very well priced and the beers were cheap! Only thing that would of made our experience better would be if they had a fan or 2, but no big deal! We will be back before we leave palomino!

Meraviglioso ❤️ homemade salsas and amazing pizza, juices oooch!!
Maciej P — Google review
I really enjoyed my visit here! There were lots of choices of different pizza and sizes all very well organised and clear. I was dining alone and they made me feel very welcome even though there were two other big groups there at the same time. The jugos are great value as you get a full litre (I had the pina which was amazing). A lovely extra touch is the salsas which come out with your pizza, they are all made on the premises and range from mild to hot- they even packaged up some of favourites to go with my take away. Try it out you’ll love it!

Stayed at this wonderful place. Really great service. Was with my wife and we went to the party for New years. Had a wonderful time. They served local food which was very tasty. Wonderful hotel with laid-back atmosphere and beautiful features. Our room was comfortable and the cleaning service was excellent. The restaurant is very good and we thoroughly enjoyed dining by the sea every morning and evening. Outstanding service from the hotel and restaurant staff. The concierge service for arranging excursions was fantastic. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. I highly recommend this place -- you will not find a better location in terms of the proximity of the beach.

The place is really nice, as well as the beach and the gardens. The room with the balcony was spacious and private. There were some days of my stay that they had loud and uproarious music. I went to have a pacific time and the music did not allow me to rest, nor chill. Those days the place had a vibe more of a disco, rather than a resting place. Even after asking several times to the staff to lower the volume, they declined to guarantee a resting environment. I considered the food is pricy and not tasty. The are pet-friendly!! Staff was friendly, sea is amazing 🌊

Truly amazing place to stay. The Hotel is directly at the beach and offers great food - nothing better than having breakfast overseeing the sea and hearing the waves, as well as great cocktails. The pool it has is very pretty too. We had a superior suite, which was a nice room with aircon and a pretty bathroom. Initially we planned to stay 3 days, but we like it so much here that we stayed another 2 days. Fully recommend this place!

Review of restaurant bar only as we only had drinks & food. The setting is very pretty. We could pay by card which was convenient. There was a lovely breeze from the beach and it was good they had cold Club Colombia beer bottles available in beach front area. The cocktails are OK., the food is great. There is a lovely pool, with showers and toilets (with running water , soap and loo roll) available to use. Seating is comfortable in the restaurant area. Service is Ok- could take a while to get served

The river is clean as it can get, with the best taste of water. The river is calm and peaceful. The sea in the other side has a lot of waves, the place of the confluence is a meeting point. A point where the mighty Atlantic ocean meets the beautiful Palomino river, the majestic mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta slopes down to the Atlantic. The border between Magdalena and La Guajira departments is here. An amazing place to witness nature at its best.

On clear mountain days, you can see the snow peak from this point. A very energetic and powerful place !

This place was awesome, went with my wife, friend and a tour guide. We decided to go down at tubing and end it up over in this place of which we think a little boy stole sunglasses from us. But other than that, it was great, the water is very clear. The river runs open into the ocean. And it is definitely worth it experience. Ypu do need to make sure that you go with a local tour guide otherwise the military might get you.

Tubing is pretty cool down the river, beach is very choppy but perfect for chilling!!! Not very crowded this season ...

Amazing place. Great view and nice opportunity to swim in cold river water and warm ocean water the same time
Benjamin W — Google review
One of the most beautiful places I have been and enjoy in my entire life. The waters of the river are mixed with those of the sea at the mouth and the contrast of waters and currents is beautiful. You also can pay for an attraction to sail the river starting in the mountain and finishing at the sea.

Nice place with hippie people living around. Lot’s of drugs and alternative parties as well as local ones. Make sure once you reach the beach Oswald 20 min to the left and reach the beach with both ocean and rives. It’s a nice a place overall to spend a few days

Great place to hang out and play in the river. The current is just right for that.

Palomino Beach is a place with diverse environments and people from all over the world, offering a rich cultural variety. While it's not recommended to swim due to strong rip tides, you can still cool off in the shallow waters. The establishments offer good food, drinks, and parties, attracting more foreign visitors than locals. Despite its hippie culture influence, the beach and landscape are stunning and worth visiting in Colombia. Additionally, affordable lunch options are available just 100 meters from the beach.

Los 7 Mares is a charming spot known for its creative Colombian and modern fusion cuisine. The intimate setting makes it perfect for evening drinks and seafood. While the menu may lack plant-based options, the attention to detail in food preparation is evident. Guests praise the owner's dedication to ensuring a wonderful dining experience, even arranging special deliveries for customers. The restaurant offers marked gluten-free dishes, particularly ceviche, which receives high praise despite limited dessert options.
📍Sea food The chill lounge ambience is a great way to relax and have a nice meal after a day at the beach. The food is really good. We recommend trying the tacos and the entrees. 👉 We recommend that you arrive early to get a table (specially in high season). The service can be a times slow.

Sometimes it’s hard to find authentic local Caribbean food in some small towns in the area. This restaurant really brings all those Caribbean flavors to the next level and engage you in a new experience. The rising sun and the Playera are out of this world. I live in Palomino and eat there at least once a week.
Ana R — Google review
7 Mares is an absolute gem! The food here is incredibly fresh and bursting with flavor—you can really taste the quality in every bite. From start to finish, every dish we tried was delicious and beautifully prepared (and we went multiple times). The service was just as impressive. Carlos and Yovanna went above and beyond to make sure we had an amazing dining experience. They were warm, attentive, and truly made us feel welcomed and cared for. Between the outstanding food and the exceptional service, 7 Mares is definitely a place I would recommend to anyone looking for a memorable meal. I can’t wait to return!

This was the best meal I’ve had in Colombia so far. The Rising Sun dish was so good, so fresh and the flavour was incredible. the cocktail, Bahia Conche, was nuts. They poured my drink out of a frickin conch shell like how wild is that?! Great service, I’ve got a few more days here and will definitely be back!!!

A very generous and delicious serving of arroz con mariscos, there were lots of seafoods in every bite. The dessert of yuca and coconut cake was also top-notched, well paired with their artesanal ice-cream. Their herbal rum was soohisticated, I'd recommend a try

Delicious thin-crust pizza! 🍕 Regular options are priced around 25,000 pesos, while specials range from 30,000 to 35,000 pesos. A great choice if you’re looking for tasty, high-quality pizza at a fair price.

Lovely little place. Really yummy pizzas. Super thin crust and you can watch them make them
Katie S — Google review
It's a basic pizzeria but the value is pretty good. There were a few kittens wandering around and playing which was fun to interact with. There were a lot of flies hanging out in the restaurant which was quite annoying though. They have fans to try to help with that but they only worked so so. The pizza itself was quite good. Thin crust and crunchy around the edges. I ordered the Italiano which was good, but was disappointed to see that the spinach was sprinkled on after the pizza came out of the oven. I don't trust fresh leafy greens in developing countries, and my stomach had been having issues for pretty much the entire duration of my trip so I removed most of the spinach. I would prefer the spinach to go through the oven. Pizza is not usually made this way back home so I didn't even think to ask if it would be made that way. I'd return there and recommend it to others to try!

A nice little place serving pasta and pizza in the main street of Palomino. We have been here with my wife mid June 2025 and had a very pleasant experience. I had the pasta marinara - it was served with fresh seafood and tasted delicious. The pasta was cooked perfectly (I like it al dente). My wife had the ravioli - they were quite tasty as well. We also had some red wine. The value for money is very good. So if you feel a craving for pasta while in Palomino, come here without hesitation.

In addition to baked goods, the bakery also sells natural products such as cosmetics and natural medicine. The atmosphere is peaceful and the surrounding rural area provides a tranquil setting for enjoying delicious treats. Nice & cosy open air panaderia with vegan food. Except bread, cakes & pastels you can also buy some other natural products, like cosmetic and natural medicine. There is not a big choice, but few cakes that are available there are really delicious. Very calm place, silent neighborhood, very rural area, there are 2 tables to sit by.

I normally don't write reviews but this serves as a warning. We have bought quite a bit of business here since we eat quite a bit of bread. But on several occasions their dog has attempted to attack without provocation. Upon finally speaking to the owner, she refused to do anything about the matter. We will take our business elsewhere as I imagine others have. We are told this is not an isolated instance. While the staff are very friendly (save the owners) and the baked goods are delicious. I should speak up before someone is seriously hurt, especially considering the lack medical facilities and uncertainty of rabies among the dogs. Responsible dog ownership speaks multitudes about a business, especially one with such a model as this one.

Vegetarian restaurant
The cuisine at Holss, a vegetarian restaurant, is simply delightful. The dishes are exquisitely presented and carefully arranged. The ambiance is adorned with an abundance of lush greenery. Patrons can savor a variety of plates that are meant to be shared and relish every bite. However, there were a couple of minor issues that should be addressed - the lengthy wait time for food (approximately one hour) and the meager amount of bread served with the hummus.
Absolutely amazing!! Everything about this place is wonderful. The food is so fresh, flavoursome and feels super healthy. We loved it so much we ended up coming back everyday we were in Palomino. We tried all of the different bowls and lots of the small plates and they were all absolutely faultless and so delicious. The drinks are amazing too. The matcha, coffees, shots and elixirs we tried were all delish. The staff are also super friendly and the vibe inside is so lovely. They also have free filtered water which is very appreciated. The best food in Palomino hands down - must visit!

An absolute recommendation, not only for vegetarians/vegans! We had dinner here with my wife mid June 2025. She is vegetarian, so we were happy to find a completely vegan place with a great sounding menu. The quality of the food and craftsmanship are amazing! I, even as a non-vegetarian, really appreciated every single dish. We loved the concept of multiple "small" dishes (2 dishes = 1 meal) as it gives you the opportunity to try different things. By the way, four dishes for two people are plenty. And the prices are more than fair, in my opinion. You order and pay at the counter, so I am not rating the service. But the employees were super nice and sweet. You can pay with credit cards as well. Don't hesitate and try this place out if you happen to be in Palomino.

Incredible coffee and vegan breakfast! The atmosphere is beautiful, surrounded by plants. I haven’t found a better price for such a high-quality vegan meal, and the service was super friendly. They also take card payments. I’ll probably be back every day of my stay in Palomino!

Gorgeous restaurant with absolutely incredible plant based food. One of the best meals we have ever had out and definitely the best meal we have had on our backpacking trip around latam. We chose to share some of the small plates and also had 2 desserts. Everything was incredible and packed with flavour, texture, as well as beautifully presented. The brunch menu sounded amazing too, wish we could come back to try more things!! 100% worth the visit if you are in Palomino.

If you're on the lookout for a delightful dining experience, Veggie Kitchen Palomino is definitely worth a visit! While it may stretch your backpacker budget slightly, the fresh and healthy offerings make it worthwhile. The atmosphere is open and inviting, with enough seating to accommodate guests comfortably. Their breakfast options are particularly impressive—massive portions that will keep you fueled for the day ahead.
The food is really good and healthy. There isn’t much seating but it’s nice and open and there is usually enough space for everyone. Their breakfast is massive and filling and the lunch and dinner options are pretty divers and equally as filling and well-priced. They offer vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options. The photos of the food posted by the restaurant are spot on - everything is beautiful and colorful and equally as tasty.
Alexis — Google review
I had breakfast here and it was a very good choice. They offer many vegetarian options and a few vegans such as açaí bowl or vegan crepe. Otherwise they offer classic breakfast options (eggs, bowls, etc) 🥯 I had the bagel de la cordillera ($30000) with a ton of veggies incl avocado, coleslaw, spinach, roasted Aubergine and hummus (instead of cheese sauce) - it was huge and very rich. One of the ingredients were a little salty but overall it was very yummy 🥤Delicious juices ($6000 in Water) and Smoothies ($9000) for an amazing price 💴 Card payment possible with 5% Fee A few suggestions: 🎶 Soft music in the background would give it a nicer vibe 🥗 Bagel came with french fries - it would be great to offer a choice between fries or salad. 💁‍♀️The lady taking care of order was super friendly and welcoming. Checking in with the customer once a while would be great. It makes you feel a little more welcome and you get the sense that you as a client matter.😃 April 2023 / Colombia

I highly recommend. We shared three dishes for two very hungry people, and it was much more than satisfying. The portions are very large and the ingredients are of high quality.
Karen K — Google review
Great menu range for vegetarians but the food was disappointing. We may have ordered wrong but the smoothies had too much ice so you couldn’t taste much, the açai bowls hardly had any toppings (no banana/strawberry, only some granola) and the cappuccino was weak. The Thai rice however was good (tasted better than it looks here) so the other main dishes might also have been great.
Phoebe D — Google review
We went there for dinner, it was not full, the service was slow (no problem) and friendly. We were both a bit disappointed from the quality of the food. It didn't have much flavor and was pretty basic in my eyes. In the end too expensive for what you get.

Dreamer Palomino is a laid-back hostel located near the beach, offering casual dining, an outdoor pool, and a charming rustic bar. The on-site restaurant serves delicious thin-crust pizza and pasta dishes. Guests can enjoy their meals while taking in the sea view from private terraces in all rooms.
We picked Dreamer from a friend’s recommendation and were not disappointed. We had initially planned to stay two nights but liked it so much we extended our stay for another night. The hotel pool is great to chill out at during the day and the hotel is in a great area for food and drinks in the evening. The bar is a fun area and the staff are all friendly and helpful, often joining in games of pool and other activities with the guests. Reception were able to answer all of our questions nearly instantly and had loads of recommendations for what to do in the area. Would recommend anyone to stay here!
Matthew S — Google review
We stayed in private room in the new part. Room and pool were great, minus the fact that there were quite a lot of ants in our room. Pool could do we some more lounge chairs. The hotel is very loud, but noise shuts of at 12. Food isn't great, but their drinks are good.
Leona M — Google review
Disappointing!!! The pool area is really nice, but the private AC room we booked for $64 (without breakfast) was a total rip-off. The AC stopped working around midnight, so we spent a sweaty, uncomfortable night. I understand electricity can be unreliable in this area, but how can you charge that price for an AC room when you can’t actually guarantee AC? To make it worse, there was no apology or acknowledgment from the staff. I wouldn’t come back and definitely don’t recommend staying here.
Joyce K — Google review
Very nice place to stay if you are looking for a cool pool, social areas, coworking and good drinks. I would recommend to improve the AC on the private rooms, it was very weak on the one I stayed and also the food can improve a bit more. Drinks, direct way to the beach and vibes from the hostel were the highlight, workers could be more attentive tho
Sebastian M — Google review
Only giving three stars because the private rooms are amazing but the AC dorms are incredibly overpriced and the AC itself sucks. It was very warm in our room and the staff sold it to us as super nice and newly done. The bunk beds are squeaky and offer no privacy, the AC is weak and we were consistently sweating. There was a cockroach in the room and the staff were very hesitant to offer us fans when we complained about the heat. The rest of the hostel is very nice and the pool is fantastic but I feel a bit ripped off with the AC dorms unfortunately :(
Ella G — Google review
My staying the dreamer was amazing! All the personal were really on top of everything! Bartenders, reception guys and everyone!! Names I remember: Kelly, Juan David, Benjamin :) The pools were nice too! I would just recommend all beds have the mosquitoes net because they are wild 😜 (not all of them have it) Also, the weekends can be pretty loud because the beach where they do parties is next to the hotel.

Neyis and Juan David were the best receptionists I’ve ever seen. The moment I walked up to the desk, they welcomed us and started the celebration. They made me feel right at home. I highly recommend staying at Dreamer and meeting these two. I think we will become best friends for life.

Loved my stay here. The hostel has two amazing and clean pools. The beds are comfortable and the AC works well. Shoutout especially to the amazing staff. They are all so friendly and remember your name and always greet you nicely. The location is close to the beach and other great restaurants. The only thing I would say would be a really big improvement would be adding curtains to the beds

JUntos Palomino Restaurant Bar is a versatile spot that transitions from a laid-back restaurant to a vibrant bar with live music and DJs spinning salsa, reggaeton, afrobeat, and cumbia. It's renowned for serving some of the best burgers in town, including a hefty mushroom option and a highly recommended juicy cheeseburger. The venue also hosts special events like Noche Azul (Blue Night) with guest DJs for an exciting night out.
I went for a burger. I had a burger craving and it so hard to find a good burger. I’ve been to a few places and they give you horrible meat, frozen meat. This was not the case here. The burger was so delicious. I’m ready to go back for another one thinking about it now. They had live music and a nice ambiance. Also go a free beer with my burger 🍔 highly recommended

We both slept and dined here, and we absolutely loved our experience. I highly recommend it! The seafood pasta was simply amazing, and the cocktails were wonderful, along with the fresh juices. Breakfast was also really good, providing a great start to the day. Overall, a fantastic place to stay and eat!

We risked ordering other something different from burgers and didn't disappoint. The surf n' turf and pasta with seafood were amazing, as well as the langostinos as first dish. The dessert was also very good. All oerfectly cooked and with amazing sauces. Restaurant is beautiful and we were lucky with our waiter, he was super nice and efficient 👌🏼

Hit it 👍🏿! I was quite impressed with the food. It was very good and the portions were fair. Lots of seating space and they have a stage for live music. Started getting quite busy as the evening went.

Felicity B — Google review
We absolutely loved this place with my boyfriend!!! On our first day in Palomino we just came in for a drink, but the hamburgers looked SOO delicious that we decided to come back. And they didn’t dissapoint!!! I think it was one of the best hamburgers we have ever eaten. :D They also have a really professional DJ, it was even more enjoyable this way. The waitress was super kind, when we received our bill there was a small note saying: “have a nice night”. We are going to miss this place. If I could I would give 10 stars. Thank you Guys!💜

Great food, service, and atmosphere. Tasty cheesy burgers and excellent happy hour cocktails. Great live music sprinkled with a pleasant accompaniment of friendly dogs, you’ll be entertained and well fed.

Wonderful hostel! Staff was great, very helpful. The rooms are good, comfy beds, mosquito nets. There are plenty of fans in the rooms to keep cool. The showers are cold and it is literally a hose but the bathrooms are good nonetheless. The breakfast was delicious and I love that you get a choice, fab kitchen and they have yoga mats you can use to workout. All in all, it was a really good hostel and I would stay again!

I don’t write a lot of reviews but hear me out. This place is really really nice. The breakfast is amazing (good choices) and a fair portion(!!!). The staff is really friendly and welcoming (good family vibes). It attracted friendly travelers and as we stayed in a private room I can only speak for that but the value is amazing and the room is beautiful!! It is in a more quite area then the beach front and has many shops and restaurants close by. I would have stayed much longer!

Absolutely LOVED our stay here. The staff were so lovely and attentive. Bathrooms and rooms were so clean (cleaned daily) The hosts have so many beautiful cats and puppies, breakfast was great and location is perfect as it is central but not down where the nightly parties are. Also the grounds are so beautiful. Only reason for a mark off is the top bunks were so hot that I would wake up boiling hot. More fans in the rooms would easily fix this though. Would 100% come back

One of the best hostels I have been to in Colombia! The staff is super lovely, helpful and fun to even hang out with. The breakfast was super delicious and had 4 vegetarian options! I loved the overall atmosphere in the garden, it was so easy to socialise but it was so nice also to have some more chilled areas and hammocks! Totally recommend the place!

Totally recommend this hostel! Lovely, quiet place and very attentive and friendly staff! The breakfast was delicious too. Also, when I had misplaced my kindle and told the owner, she was very concerned and even searched for it with me and had already informed all of her staff to look out for it. I – of course – then found it in my bag. So it´s a totally safe place, another person in my room left his mobile lying on his bed frequently and nothing ever happened to it. As a plus, there are some super cute dogs which like being patted. ;-)

Very peaceful Hostel with a great breakfast. When I was there they also had free yoga lessons in the morning. Also nice that it's Colombian-owned and not some foreign investor.

Restaurant
Barba Beach Arabic Food is a hidden gem nestled in the picturesque town of Palomino, Colombia. This charming restaurant offers an authentic taste of Lebanese cuisine amidst the stunning Caribbean backdrop. Guests rave about the delicious chicken shawarma and mixed platters, which are not only flavorful but also reasonably priced. The attentive service adds to the welcoming atmosphere, making it a favorite spot for both locals and travelers alike.
Search no more, if you are looking for authentic yummy middle eastern food, this is the place! Starting with the owner super welcoming, helpful and friendly - as all the staff!! They import the spices, Tahina and other products directly from Lebanon 🇱🇧- so if you are a lover of middle eastern food as I am, you know this is a great sign of high quality food! I had the falafel platter and let me tell you, the flavors, the textures, the smells, the colors were beyond expected - this has been one of the best middle eastern food I have had in Colombia and in Latin America The falafel was packed with flavor and super crunchy, the Baba ghanoush had a perfect texture and the flavor was so delicious 👌🏾 the hummus as really gooood and the sweet bell pepper sauce wasss amazing!!! The Fattoush salad was well seasoned which is not easy to fine! And the maracumago juice was super tasty and refreshing!

Sometimes you visit places where not only the food is amazing, but the people make the experience even better! The owners are so lovely I just wanted to be adopted by them 😂😍 But not only lovely, they were super good in their work and made sure we had everything we needed. We love Lebanese food so we were so happy that we could eat it here and wow… sooo good! Also the prices are very fair. We are definitely coming back.

The food was amazing - I got the mixed plate, all three dips were great! And the owner was so lovely - 100% recommend ! Also the mint lemonade was sensational

I had the vegetarian falafel shawarma and was delicious. They told me that the garlic sauce and hummus are vegan which is great :) Service was nice and fast and the atmosphere was nice too. The falafels are moist and tasty, unlike other place I tried here in Palomino. Would definitely come back :)

Delicious food, easily the best Middle Eastern food I’ve had in Latin America. As well as the best mint lemonade!! We had to come back two nights in a row. Excellent value and the owner is really nice too.

Nestled in the heart of Palomino, Casa Colibri Palomino is a charming and budget-friendly inn that offers a delightful escape for travelers. This cozy retreat features simply furnished rooms, some equipped with air conditioning, ensuring comfort during your stay. The lush gardens provide a serene atmosphere where guests can unwind while enjoying complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the property. Run by the friendly Belgian host Joachim, Casa Colibri is dedicated to making your experience memorable.
I had a great and peaceful stay at Casa Colibri! Joaquin and Juana, the hosts, were very kind to me, always supportive and helping me organizing my activities and overall stay in Colombia. Juana gave me two qualitative and restful yoga sessions, including one at a secret sea-view location. The breakfast was also very good and balanced for a healthy diet, and the WiFi is optimal for digital nomads. Overall, I definitely recommend this hostel if you want to enjoy a peaceful stay at the pittoresque coastal city of Palomino.

A hidden gem that feels like home – we stayed 2 weeks instead of 2 nights! We originally planned to stay at Casa Colibrí for just two nights... and ended up staying two whole weeks – that says it all! This cozy little hotel is tucked away from the beach crowds, which makes it incredibly peaceful, yet it’s still close to lots of great food spots. The rooms are clean, the beds are super comfortable and everything has this welcoming, homey vibe. Juana and Joachim are honestly some of the kindest, most genuine people we’ve met on our travels. They were always ready to help with anything we needed and answered every question with a smile. Oh, and let’s not forget Keki the cat, who’s the real queen of the house and always ready for cuddles. The breakfast was hands down the best I’ve had in six months of backpacking through Latin America. The free yoga sessions were such a treat, and if you’re around on a Saturday, don’t miss the free guided hike they offer – it was one of our highlights. Casa Colibrí is one of those rare places that truly feels like a home away from home. We laughed, relaxed, connected and left with full hearts. Can’t recommend it enough! 🌿🦋✨ Thank you Juana and Joachim!

Loved my stay at Casa Colibri! Palomino is such a lovely, laid-back town but trust me - you’ll want a clean, comfortable private room with air conditioning, and Casa Colibri is the perfect place for that. They also serve healthy breakfasts, offer activities like hiking in the Sierra Nevada and morning yoga, and the couple who runs the place is incredibly friendly and welcoming. I felt so comfortable here that I ended up extending my stay. Highly recommend!
Kasey S — Google review
Perfect place to stay in Palomino, especially if working remotely. There are lots of power outages in Palomino and service and WiFi can be quite spotty in places, the WiFi worked perfectly here throughout our two week stay (had a local also tell us that their WiFi is the best in palomino). Location is also very good, slightly further up from the beach and away from a lot of the noise. There are loads of nice bars restaurants and cafes around it and you can still walk to the beach in 10/15 minutes. The free breakfast was by far the best we’ve had in five months in South America and menu del dia lunches offered were very affordable and delicious. The owners were lovely hosts and couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful during our stay. Kiki the cat was also great to have around. Couldn’t recommend this place enough, will definitely book here again on our next trip to Palomino!
Douglas P — Google review
There are plenty of hostels in town, but this one truly stands out—especially if you’re looking for a quiet place to work, relax, or rest before continuing on to your next destination. The free breakfast is exceptionally delicious and healthy, and the rooms are spacious and spotless. The beds are large and comfortable, with fresh sheets and pillowcases. You can’t help but feel an added sense of safety in this already secure area, known as one of the safest in Colombia. The overall atmosphere is calm, private, and peaceful. The owners, Joe & Juana are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to ensure you enjoy both your stay and everything Palomino has to offer. I’d give it six stars if I could! Highly recommend! Thx WF

I must say for 17€ a night incluiding breakfast, a good wifi that stays on always even without electricity ( they have solar panels ) very attentive and nice service, calm place without noise complains, clean rooms, everything went totally better than expected. One day whole Palomino was without electricity but I was still able to work, really nice and good hotel and will totally come back again. No complains. Maybe the almuerzo they serve is small but it is only 15.000 pesos so cant complain that much either

Amazing stay, wish we could’ve stay longer! Great host, delicious breakfast (never missed it), strong AC & wifi. Would highly recommend staying here if you’re in Palomino!
Sara O — Google review
100% a no-brainer to book Casa Colibrí for your time in Palomino, especially if you’re working remotely or just in need of a calm, relaxing, and restorative environment - it really ticked all the boxes! We’ve been travelling for six months, and staying here, in this lovely beach town was a top highlight of our entire trip — easily the best breakfast we've had anywhere in those six months! It truly felt like being at home, which, after so long away, was exactly the reset we both needed. The yoga sessions were such a peaceful and grounding way to start the day. We also both work remotely, and Casa Colibrí was the perfect place to support that. The Wi-Fi was excellent — fast and reliable — and even with Palomino’s regular power outages, everything ran smoothly thanks to their backup systems. It made all the difference. And finally, the hosts themselves, Joachim and Juana we can't thank you enough! — the most welcoming, friendly, and down-to-earth couple (along with Kiki, their cuddly cat!). You helped us with everything and made us feel like a real part of your home. It honestly made us want to move there full-time! Thank you for the special memories — this will forever be a highlight of our travels.

We did the tubing tour for 50k. They drive you to a point and from there you walk for 20min more. On the way there are 2 possibilities to buy drinks/food. The tubing was a lot of fun and the forest looks super nice from the river! When we did it there were 2 persons on the way who also sold drinks directly at the water. Very cool way to see the forest from a different perspective.

Dogshelter Palomino

Animal shelter
Animal protection organization
Dogshelter Palomino is a heartwarming initiative run by Miguel and Fran, who are dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating dogs in the area. Visitors can take part in various activities such as river walks, horse care therapy, and tours through the stunning natural landscapes of Palomino. The shelter not only provides medical treatment for the animals but also trains them to prepare for adoption.
We had an amazing day out with Dogshelter Palomino where we had a lovely mountainous hike, a visit to an indigenous village and a few hours of tubing down a stunning river, all with the company of some extremely friendly dogs! We were lucky to have Miguel as our guide for the day, who was very welcoming, attentive, fun and clearly really cared for all of the dogs, and visa versa! He made sure that we were comfortable for the whole duration of the trip and answered all of our questions! The tubing was a great way to end the trek and a dip in the fresh water was the cool down we needed. We then headed back to the cafe where we enjoyed some delicious food and lemonade and of course some great company of even more dogs, cats and a couple of ridiculously cute pups! It is immediately clear how much every member of staff cares about each and every animal that they look after and the love is most definitely replicated and visible from each cat and dog that they have saved!

An absolute highlight in Palomino! The dog shelter is a magical place filled with love and care. Franyer and Miguel do an unbelievable job – not only with the many dogs, but also with cats and even horses. Their dedication is inspiring. The tubing tour they offer is a must-do experience: hiking up the river with the dogs, then floating and swimming back down alongside them – pure joy! It’s the perfect mix of fun, nature, and animal love. Highly recommended!
Andreas B — Google review
I highly recommend visiting this place! I booked the 5 hour tour in Sierra Nevada and it ticked all boxes: a great hike, an interesting experience at the indigenous village and good fun going tubing! Tubing with the dog shelter is much more fun than at any other place because they have access to a different part of the river. The people at the shelter are lovely, just like their family of animals.. thanks a lot to my friend Fran!

Yesterday, we joined the walking tour with the dogs and the lovely owners of the Dogshelter, and it was hands down one of our highlights in Colombia. The connection with the animals and the authentic, heartfelt atmosphere were truly special. The absolute highlight: tubing with the dogs – an experience we’ll never forget! You can feel immediately that every donation goes exactly where it’s needed. To top it off, we enjoyed a delicious homemade lunch in great company. If you’re visiting Palomino, don’t miss this experience – it’s a beautiful mix of nature and animal love. Thank you for such a wonderful day!

Such an amazing place. Absolutely visit them when in Palomino! Miguel and Fran are such kind guys who do an amazing job at rescuing animals. They care wholeheartedly for the animals and give them the medical treatments they need, they also train the dogs to get them ready for the new owner. We did the Rio walk with the dogs on Monday and the horse care therapy on Saturday. Both are so much fun and you get to see beautiful places in Palomino where you normally may not go (especially with the horses!) The mojitos Miguel makes during happy hour are also the best mojitos in Palomino 🍹 If we could, we would take them all home 🥺 Thank you Miguel and Fran for the unforgettable experiences ❤️🐴🐈🐕
Mayelle L — Google review
I just wanted to go for a coffee at the dogshelter cafe and then I discovered that their also offering different tours. There was one which included walking with some of their dogs for one and a half hour to a Indigenous community and from there tubing all the way down. I loved the idea that the money goes to all the rescued dogs. I did it and it was amazing. I can recommend it to everyone for doing this tour because you will see a lot, being able to talk with some people of the indigenous community and you start tubing down way earlier than the other tours so you can enjoy the river completely alone. The guys who are responsible for the dogshelter are amazing and fun. So it was definitely an amazing experience, thanks guys:)

Best place in Colombia. Ran by the most compassionate people. We came to visit and check it out and we’re greeted warmly and explained that they take in stray dogs from nearby towns, especially female dogs, and provide them with vet services, food and housing, and training until they are adopted out all over the world. They clearly love them very much and take very good care of them. The next day we came back to do the walking tour. We helped train the dogs on leads and swam with them in the river as well as said hi to the horses they also care for. Would recommend to any and everyone and if you want to adopt a dog they are so amazingly well trained and sweet! Loved them all!

Great hostel, nice room and very comfi bed. The bathroom is nice too. Unfortunately, the shower clogged but they told us that the problem would be fixed. Nice offering of food and drinks, a bit pricey though. Very good breaky, AC in the rooms is a blessing in Palomino. Friendly and helpful staff. Pool area is great.

This is an incredible hostel! I’m not sure about you but I’ve been having a really hard time sleeping in the heat of North Colombia so it was ideal to find this hostel with air conditioning and proper mosquito nets. In comparison to the other hostels, it’s only $2 more a night for relative luxury. There is also breakfast included with options like smoothie bowls and scrambled eggs. Only thing to note is that it’s not very social - it’s more like a hostel for digital nomads / couples. It’s not very “backpacker style” and is a road behind the main strip of bars and restaurants etc so it’s not the easiest to return to in the night.
Antonia M — Google review
I stayed here with my boyfriend for four days and we absolutely loved it. We weren’t really in the mood for hostel vibes or the typical backpacker scene, so we decided to come here and it was such a good choice! The atmosphere was super peaceful, everything was beautifully designed, and the food was really good. The bed was super comfortable, the room was clean, and daily cleaning was available if you wanted it. They played nice music, and I did have hot shower!
Lasis M — Google review
Pros: Good location being away from the main street but only a short walk in. Included breakfast was very good with four options available and the main girl at reception was very nice with good English. We also booked a tour through them and it was excellent. Cons: Rooms are quite small and there are lots of mosquitoes around so be prepared with the bug spray. I booked this hotel as I thought there was hot water for showering, but there wasn’t any. Not the hotels fault, just my bad researching, however if hot water is important for you like it is me then look elsewhere.

The whole area is done very nicely. It is open and green, which felt very relaxing and nice. The sunbeds next to the pool are comfy, but all were taken once, so theres not always enough space for everyone. The beach is a 5 Minutes walk, you can’t see the ocean from the Hotel. The bungalow has everything you need, bed was comfy and the mosquito net is a really good one. the room was a bit bare - a nice picture or also some sort of seating inside, would make the room much more cozy. but the outside is amazing& you have all the essentials in the room:) There‘s music with bass from the neighborhood until late which you hear in the rooms, with earplugs its fine. Staff was mostly friendly, sometimes they mixed up our orders but that was okay. The Deep Tissue Massage in the Spa was amazing, can recommend that highly. The Yoga in the Morning is right next to the Breakfast which didnt make me very relaxed with sounds&talking loudly, although the yoga itself was good!

Just the very best hostel/hotel we stayed in during 7 month of travelling central and South America. We loved that it was just one parallel street from the main road and therefore really quite. The staff was super nice! Everything was super clean and maintained and the restaurant offered good vegetarian and vegan food for a fair price (the prices in Palomino are in general a bit higher than in other places). Also the included breakfast was very good! We were really sad that we could not stayed any longer. If we would have found the place earlier we would propably have stayed for 10 days - 10/10!

Loved staying here during my week in Palomino. I even extended a few times. The only downside is it’s more of a walk to town but only 10 minutes. The pool, facilities, morning breakfast (delicious!), nice rooms and comfortable beds, and friendly staff more than make up for it. Would definitely stay here again!

Quiet place in the village. Good option for veggies. Salade might need to be more elaborated tho. French fries and falafel are excellent !

Probably one the best meals we had in all of Colombia, great and attentive service and really romantic atmosphere. We loved it and had several lunches and dinners here. Really recommend to go here.

I found the super bowl uninspiring. All their bowls were safe options and this one had fewer ingredients than any bowl I had ever had. The amount of nuts was negligible. However it tasted good enough and the service was very attentive.

The food here is fantastic. The menu has a lot of variety and it is always delicious. Great service from Winston!

A perfect stay!!! We planned to only stay 4 nights but had to extend because it was too wonderful to leave. Great for everyone - solo travellers, couples, friends or families! Amazing pool area and accommodations, pretty and clean rooms and the friendliest staff! 100% recommended!
