Caparaó National Park is a breathtaking expanse of nature, featuring lush forest campsites and an extensive network of trails that lead adventurers to some of Brazil's highest peaks. While Bandeira Peak was once believed to be the tallest in the country, it now holds a special place as a classic hiking destination. The park is perfect for families looking to introduce their children to mountaineering, offering non-technical routes with stunning views along the way.
Bandeira was, up to at least 1962, thought to be Brazil's highest peak. Now we know it is about 100 meters lower than the actual highest, but it remains a classic. Great for hiking and for introducing younglings to mountaineering, with no technical demands and astonishing sights. Do hike the peak at night for the spectacular sunrise. Totally worth it. I've just revisited it, now with my two teens. Fifth time and it never gets boring.

Park with very good maintenance. Thanks to all volunteers working there. If rains, you'll a 4x4 to go up to the peak. Nice camping area. Very good infrastructure with restrooms and signals in all trails.

Pico da Bandeira, Brazil's third highest peak at 2,892 meters, is a must-visit for adventure seekers and nature lovers alike. The hiking trail to the summit offers breathtaking panoramic views that are especially stunning at sunset. During my visit, I camped nearby and was treated to a clear night sky filled with stars and the Milky Way—an unforgettable experience! The surrounding area boasts friendly locals who enhance the welcoming atmosphere of this beautiful destination.
I've been there to see the sunset. Amazing, great moment with nature. We were in a campsite near to the peak. The sky was clean during the night. It was possible to the all the Milky Way and shooting stars.
People a receptive. It's a place to be back. There are also places to swim in the very cold waters!!!

Cachoeira Bonita is a stunning waterfall located 250m below Tronqueira in Caparao National Park. Accessible via a 300m trail, it boasts a beautiful cascade with shallow and deep pools. The park offers great hiking and biking opportunities, but the water is icy cold, perfect for a refreshing dip. The waterfall lives up to its name, plunging 80 meters and straddling the border between Minas Gerais and Espirito Santo.
