Jaquirana in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Jaquirana, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Jaquirana sits in the highlands of the Serra Gaúcha, known for its open grasslands, araucaria forests and cooler climate than much of Brazil. It’s a base for ecotourism in the Campos de Cima da Serra region, with opportunities for hiking, horseback riding and visiting waterfalls and river canyons. Nearby protected areas such as Parque Estadual do Tainhas offer scenic viewpoints and rural landscapes that appeal to nature lovers and photographers. The town’s guesthouses and countryside inns give visitors a quiet, small-town atmosphere away from larger tourist centers.
With favorites like Restaurante Sabor Caseiro, Cachoeira Passo do S - Margem Direita, and Parque Princesa dos Campos, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Restaurante Alziro Ramos and Restaurante Sabor Caseiro so you can get the best taste of Jaquirana while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

The price per person is around 40 reais. You have to take a dirt road to get there. The best way is in the direction of Cambará do Sul. If you take the road near São Chico, it is longer and the road is worse. Thanks. Hugs. The place has a basic structure with a camping area and bathrooms (very clean), but bring your own snacks and water (not for sale). The owner was very welcoming and explained that the place has been in the family for 4 generations and they were the first to open it for visitors. The cost to visit per person is R$20.00. Within the native forest, trails lead to various viewing points. On holidays and special occasions, the farm owners host a colonial breakfast so visitors can sample their homemade delicacies. The location is also perfect for refreshing and undoubtedly invigorating swims. At the same time, beneath the falls, you can forget about the world and enjoy the natural massage of the rushing waters. This is also a very pleasant outing for families. Passo do S

4.9
(309)
The Passo do S is a natural bridge over the Rio Tainhas, a beautiful spot that's practically untouched, part of the State Park of Tainhas, entirely within the municipality of Jaquirana. The route was used by peasant carts on the Rio Tainhas and it is marked by stakes with a raised surface. The flat area now used as a car park has an average depth of 10 cm but there are places with water levels up to 1 metre.

Awesome river cross, suitable for any vehicle.
Alexandre S — Google review
it’s quite easy to cross it by following the signs, you must keep at the “yellow” side of each sign. the main recommendation here is check how deep it’s gonna be at the day you are crossing it, because sometimes it gets quite hard to cross given the water volume. but it has a amazing view, and you can walk a bit to see the tiny waterfall just a few meter later down

(Translated by Google) It's a very beautiful place and it gives you a bit of a chill to cross a river by car (although we are quite used to crossing rivers in floods😔). Passo do S is a "path" marked with flags on the river's slab. It wasn't difficult to cross and you don't need a 4x4 vehicle, nor do you need to hire a specialized service or guide if you are a qualified and experienced driver and your car is not lowered or too low. Some precautions: - don't try to cross in the rain or in poor visibility. - my husband crossed on foot first to see where there was more slab and it was shallower. - follow the flags, walking on the way there with the yellow side to the driver's left and on the way back to the right. - on the way there, the first two markings no longer coincide with the best stretch, near them it is deeper. Go further to the right, near some rocks that someone must have placed to help others. - the worst stretch is at the end of the route. - remember that you will go, but you will have to come back. We went on a Monday in March, we didn't have to wait in line, but two other cars came right after us. In other words, help will probably arrive, but there is no signal from Vivo. There is no infrastructure there. Right after, there are beautiful waterfalls, however, we only saw them on the drone, we know that it is possible to get there. Is the road bad? Well, as someone already said: "man, you're going to cross a river by car and complain about the road?" And it's not even bad. A reasonable dirt road, with few bumps. Some narrower sections and some with potholes, but nothing serious. We went and came back from Gramado. - o pior trecho é o do final do percurso. A estrada é ruim? Nosso carro: jeep Compass, 4x2

The river is right there, creating a beautiful melody of running water with the birds in the surrounding trees. The river water is very clean, inviting you to take a nice, refreshing and rejuvenating dip. There's a camping area and also accommodations in the house, which is charming. I slept in one of the beds in the attic. And since I occupied this side of the attic alone during my stay, I was able to sleep with the window open all night and wake up to contemplate nature before even getting out of bed. The staircase leading to the attic is a bit challenging because it's quite steep, but it ends up being a fun exercise. At night, the sky was spectacular. The stars were clearly visible, as the weather was clear and there was no interference from city lights. We spent a good few minutes admiring the formations. The New Year's Eve program included a delicious New Year's Eve dinner, a beautiful trail to the waterfall with a swim, and a post-hike picnic with cakes, cakes, sandwiches, cold cuts, fruit, juices, and a lovingly prepared environment. All of this is possible thanks to Dizi's organization and dedication, who is there full of courage, energy, and light to make the most of our stay. I loved it!!! Passamos bons minutos admirando as formações. Amei!!! 💚
