Mexican restaurant
Nestled just a block south of Taos Plaza, La Cueva Cafe is a charming Pueblo-style eatery that offers an authentic taste of Mexico. Owned by a couple from Mexico, this cozy restaurant prides itself on serving up fresh and natural dishes daily. The menu features traditional Mexican delights such as ceviche Mexicano, enchiladas de camaron enchipotladas, chicken mole enchiladas, and flavorful fajitas.
This is a fantastic Mexican restaurant that offers a delightful dining experience. They are particularly accommodating to vegetarians, and their sauces are outstanding. Additionally, they serve breakfast items until noon, which is perfect for those looking for a break from New Mexican cuisine. However, keep in mind that this is a small place, so it’s best to arrive early to avoid long lines.

Had chicken mole, and veggie enchiladas. Really fast service getting seated, getting drinks, and chips salsa and guacamole. The prices were better (lower) than some other places. The chicken mole was mild not anything strong or otherwise objectionable. The server was happy and pleasant. Sat outside. Some dog was barking at another table. People don't train their dogs and then bring them into close proximity to strangers. Veggie enchiladas tasted fine. Had rice and beans on both plates. Very predictable and was what we wanted. There is one NA beer, corona. Some vehicle noise since the street is a bypass for the nearby busy intersection.

The actual restaurant itself is small but they have a cute outdoor area with tons of umbrellas. If you are someone who gets cold was, definitely bring a sweater. As for parking, there is public parking at the Municipal lot a block down. It is relatively inexpensive ($2.25/hr) and convenient to the restaurant. Now let's talk about the food.... I ordered the sampler combo with chicken enchilada, chili relleno and beef taco with green chili. My husband ordered the chili relleno also with the green chili. Wow! Sooo good! Our favorite was the green hatch relleno chili. The rice and beans were also a great as sides. Not saying the beef taco and chicken enchiladas weren't good as they very much were. It was just that the relleno was just sooo good! Our waitress was also great! Just be aware, they only have one restroom for both men and women so you may have to wait if it is busy. Overall, we were so glad we stopped by this little restaurant and had an amazing meal.

Now that I’ve traveled around New Mexico, I realize just how good La Cueva is. Well versed in Gluten-free and helpful ad our daughter had celiac. No nonsense service. They know what they are doing and happy answer questions. I have not had chile relleno in years and this did not disappoint. My 15 year old did not believe me that it is good, but loved the chile relleno here. Very flavorful. My son loved his chimichanga and our 22 year old had the huitlacoche (corn fungus) enchiladas. Great flavor. We had huitlacoche while living in Mexico and were converted. Lots of cheese! Good but heavy. There is a lot of cheese on the food in NM. I love it but can’t eat this way everyday. 😂 Indoor and outdoor seating.

Recommended by the owner of the Inn we were staying at, and I’m so happy we went. My brother, myself, and our mom who’s in her 80’s dined in. Excellent hatch chile rellenos, chipotle shrimp enchiladas, and fish tacos were had. The salsa and guacamole were also excellent. Really really loved the salsa. Wish I could bring it home. Service was fantastic. All around great place!

Visited La Cueva Cafe for the first time. It was recommend to us. Parking is not easy for the location. We had to drive around to find one. They have very little inside seating so if you don't mind sitting outside then you're good to go. My wife is a Mexican food lover tho she's not Mexican. We ordered chips with guacamole and that was good. We decided to share a combo fajita plate, chicken and steak. Order came out and for some reason the fajita iron skillet wasn't sizzling. It usually sizzles but not this time. The meat was slightly warm. Not to my wife's liking. That's not good news. Rarely if ever has my wife complained about her Mexican dish. Right away she looked at me and said, "the steak is tuff and the chicken is dry." I was stunned! She continued, "I don't care for it." Oh crap! She took the fajita meats out of her tortilla and added the grill veggies instead and ate that instead. Now I have to admit the steak was tuff. Difficult to bite through it for sure. On top of that, the rice given to us was a half cup size. I will never understand why at most Mexican restaurants they give you such a small amount of rice. The beans were served sauce less. Not a good presentation worthy of a 5🌟 rating. A little disappointed.

La Cueva is the cutest little restaurant in Taos. If you are shopping in the plaza and are looking for an authentic New Mexican meal, be sure to add this to your list! My boyfriend and I ate inside of the very small dining room. Which was cozy and perfectly heated as we were there on a chillier day. We ordered the fajitas and then for desert my boyfriend had the mango cream chimichanga. I have a dairy allergy and they removed all the dairy without issues. It was all delicious! The waitstaff is wonderful and attentive- we will definitely be coming back! *There is a service charge for credit cards, so bring cash or a debit card*
Brittany G — Google review
Welcoming itty bitty restaurant packed with flavor and well plated dishes. Enjoyed the recommended seafood enchiladas in a chipotle cream- sounds odd but trust, the chicken fajitas with mole and chicken mole enchiladas to go- nicely packed. We arrived an hour before closing and still had time to eat at a relaxed pace with time to spare! Outdoor patio seating available, indoor has 4-5 tables. Highly recommend. Cash forward or 4% credit card fee.

Nestled in the heart of Taos, Taos Mesa Brewing Taos Tap Room, affectionately known as The Mothership, is a must-visit for anyone seeking a blend of great food and craft brews. This vibrant brewpub doubles as a concert venue and community hub, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains. While it may not be within walking distance from downtown attractions or nearby hotels like Hotel Luna Mystica, its location on Hondo Mesa provides an unparalleled stargazing experience.
In Taos for a couple days and decided to grab a bite to eat. We ordered ciders & salad & pizza. It was delicious. Glad we stopped in. Our server was a great guy too!

The beer is actually quite good. I really like their pizza too and I don't eat much pizza. Being able to get just a 6-in personal size was perfect. Nice door patio with shade and sun
Doug — Google review
First time here. Ordered the quartz pizza, had flights of beer and house salad. Covered three people very well. We added green chiles to the pizza and it was awesome. Even took a crowler of the green chile beer home. The crowler lid wasn’t fully seated, so we had to drink it soon after. A wonderful place!
Robert M — Google review
Love the beer selections and pizza. I recommend the “Smoky Quartz” and “Sausage “ pizza. They are not tomato based but both have unique sauces. The servers are super friendly too.
M C — Google review
The beer, wood fired pizza, and service exceeded our expectations. We dropped in on a busy Saturday evening and had a great time watching multiple football games on tv and enjoying the vibes. The pizza was exceptional and we were so glad we stopped to visit while in Taos!
Pollita — Google review
We went here on our first night in Taos for dinner. The pizza is really good and the house salad, full, we split was more than ample in size. We don’t drink beer, but love ciders. We didn’t find one we liked but they have them. We wound up with a nice bottle of rosé. Service was good. All in all very nice place. Notes: very dog friendly patio but very noisy as it’s on the corner of a super busy street. Inside was nice but we had our dog.
Richard W — Google review
The Cesar and beet salad were ok, lacking a bit in flavor. The drinks were great, and the queso was good! They were understaffed and it took a while to get our drinks. Not disappointed!
Elizabeth M — Google review
The beers and food were fantastic. The pizza selections were really interesting and tasty. The music was really fun. This alone would merit the 5 star rating. Sadly I cannot give a sixth star for our server Jeffrey. When we asked him for recommendations he ran to his locker and grabbed a map that he gave us, circled different recommendations and wrote down some others. He took the time to do this during a very busy evening and made us feel very special!

Kit Carson House & Museum

History museum
The Kit Carson Home & Museum is a preserved Spanish colonial style home that serves as a museum showcasing the life of the frontier expedition leader. The adobe home, purchased by Carson in 1843, contains artifacts such as an adobe oven, sewing box, military scabbard, and his .50 caliber Hawkins rifle. Despite Carson's controversial history, the museum has been designated a National Historic Landmark and offers visitors a glimpse into the past.
It's a little hard to find but fascinating. Regardless of how you feel about him, the places historic people lived in are so interesting. The people in charge are trying hard to keep it preserved. I was surprised his grave and the house were not marked more clearly.
Lizabeth M — Google review
We enjoyed our visit to the museum. We watched a video of his life and the times. They are hoping to do more renovations. They could have a great courtyard.

If you love the history of the Old West expansion this is a must stop. Kit Carson was a major player and this was his home for many years. Well done exhibits and his grave is nearby. Come visit the nice people you'll meet here.
M E — Google review
The man the myth the legend, Kit Carson was one of THE guys of all time. 10 bucks gets you a 20 minute history channel episode and a tour of Kit’s house with displays and plaques. It’s a little bit small for that price but if you love Kit, maybe it’s worth it.

A great museum if you're interested in Kit Carson. Dave does a great job of keeping everything running smoothly. Can't wait to go back.

Taos Plaza is a charming public square and community focal point known for its craft shops, cafes, and laid-back vibe. It holds historical significance as the earliest residents of the Taos-Tiwa tribe have inhabited the valley for over a millennium. The Spanish settlers also left their mark in the area, particularly in the village of Ranchos de Taos with its San Francisco de Asis Church.
This plaza in Taos is a fantastic spot for shopping enthusiasts. It features charming art stores offering RC Gorman art, jewelry, and T-shirts. The traditional La Fonda hotel adds to the plaza’s allure, and the shop structures are adorably designed. You’re sure to find something to purchase here.
Anand — Google review
This is a fabulous location to walk around and explore. The buildings set against the blue sky is gorgeous. The feeling of the place is exotic and historical at once, and also sad. I won’t go into detail on the history but it is heavy to walk around and know how we treated some cultures and that that treatment continues through today.
Dale B — Google review
Taos Plaza is the center of the Taos Historic District where locals gather for live music and farmers markets and visitors stroll through shops and galleries, historic buildings and restaurants. A majority of the most important historic sites in Taos are easily reached on a short walking. Nearby Kit Carson Road, Bent Street, and Ledoux Street lead to even more historic homes, neighborhoods, and shopping areas. As browse through the shops keep an eye out for Taos-made products. For example, Native American moccasins made in Taos are famous throughout the world. Here everyone can appreciate hand-made clothing and leatherwork. The jewelry created in Taos satisfies every taste and pocketbook. It is possible find beautiful tin and wood items, pottery, ceramics, and much more. Just about anywhere you walk in the heart of Taos you will find yourself immersed in the history of this place and of the Southwest.

Beautiful small town city center. Perfectly encapsulates the beauty of Taos. Many souvenir shops, art shops and eateries. The La Fonda is a beautiful option to stay. The evenings are pleasant with multiple live events going on around the town. Not that much crowded even on the 4th of July weekend. You can feel the calmness of the place and its serenity.
Aniruddha C — Google review
Beautiful little town. Architectural wise, it’s the same like most other NM old town. The town is full of Indian jewelry. It’s like a tourist trap to lure them in to buy. Couple nice coffee shops and stands. It’s a good town to walk around if the weather is nice.
Tin N — Google review
Quaint old historic square where you could imagine people gathering and doing their shopping. Cute shops with lots to look at. Be sure to check out the old hotel on the square and walk past the square to check out galleries and museums,
Tyler D — Google review
I'd been to Taos many times in the 70s, 80s and once in 2006 -- always great. To see it in 2025 was truly sad. As many storefronts on the plaza are closed as are open. Few are even remotely interesting. T shirts and unimaginative goods. There were zero sidewalk or street vendors. It was Thursday late afternoon and at there were bands preparing to play for the evening in the Plaza; great, but no one cared, and we were so turned off by the void that we left. I asked a jewelry shop owner what had happened to Taos, and he said this was thanks to the municipal government. It was a complete bust for my family so we jumped in the car and went to dinner nearby.
Pete J — Google review
Happened upon this funky little shopping center when I happened upon Taos on a random road trip. Fun times and the car show that was occurring upon my arrival made it even more of an impressive backdrop! Quite the collection of ancient vehicles as you can see from pictures. Go here if you want that good ol' stereotypical southwestern shopping vibe for sure.

Downtown Taos Historic District

Downtown Taos Historic District is a charming area filled with an array of shops, art galleries, restaurants, and bars. Visitors can explore the district to get a real sense of what Taos has to offer. However, it's important to note that some establishments have limited hours during winter. Despite being touristy at times, the district offers a variety of shops and dining options.
Loved the place! Snow, little town with great food everywhere. Great skiing slopes, affordable.
Nara M — Google review
Quaint downtown area to enjoy various boutiques etc. I will say there is construction, the ability to move around with the construction is overstated. And I'm sure once it's complete people will still complain. Regardless, it's fun to walk around and enjoy the shops, get coffee and chocolate treats. It's a fun time, there is lots of people so expect crowds as you're navigating everything. We were able to walk everywhere from our parking at the La Fonda Inn as guests.
Damian V — Google review
After much research and never having been to Taos we decided to take the high road into Taos and the low load back. Our first stop was at Chimayo and we saw the Santuario de Chimayó, perhaps the most beautiful of the old churches along the route, though interior photos are not allowed. We next stopped at Truchas - the church there was a bit harder to find and it's not as interesting, though the drive along the town's main street was worth the time there. Next was Las Trampas and the Church of San José de Gracia. The exterior is picturesque though it was not possible to go inside on the day I visited. Well, yeah if you expect it to be the most scenic drive in America, you'll probably be disappointed. But it is still a nice, scenic, leisure drive. The old town Square of Taos was historically interesting, not crowded as many of the shops were closed (Sunday afternoon) so we window shopped. We stopped in at the historic hotel on the square which had some interesting art on the walls in the entry. Several restaurants around the square were opened and the menus looked wonderful. We strolled down past the square to see other galleries and museums all closed on the day we visited. Hard to find free parking as most lots charge $5 payable by card but we parked several blocks away and walked. We plan on taking the part of the enchanted loop around Taos and low road back.
Tyler D — Google review
Taos Historic Downtown is a 5-star treasure! The charming adobe architecture, vibrant art galleries, and rich cultural history create an enchanting vibe. Strolling the plaza, I loved the unique shops and friendly locals. A perfect blend of past and present—absolutely captivating! Don't miss it!

Lovely place to visit! quaint adobe buildings with artistic flair all over. Food was awesome. Pictures were taken in mid April, Spring time in Taos. Highly recommend this beautiful place.
Sam S — Google review
This place is the heart of Taos. Lots of great shops with unique items. Hard to find a parking spot sometimes and it's metered now but lots of fun to visit. Buskers are usually playing music on the square too. I always hit the square when visiting there
Tuesdays R — Google review
The Taos Historic District is full of charm, history, and a strong Southwestern vibe. The adobe architecture, art galleries, and unique shops make it a great place to wander and soak in the culture. It's very similar to the Santa Fe plaza, but smaller and less chaotic. The plaza is the heart of it all, with live music, local vendors, and a laid-back, welcoming atmosphere. There are plenty of great spots to grab a bite, whether you're in the mood for authentic New Mexican food or just a quick coffee. The whole area feels like a perfect mix of old and new, rich with history but still lively and fun. If you’re visiting Taos, you can’t skip exploring downtown!

Rio Grande Ace Hardware is a well-stocked hardware store in Taos, NM that offers a wide range of household tools, garden supplies, home decor, and more. Customers appreciate the good customer service and the friendly and knowledgeable staff. The store may look small from the outside but is actually quite large with an impressive variety of products. It's a favorite spot for purchasing tools and shop supplies for motorcycles as well as plants and gardening items including landscaping pavers.
Rio grande Ace is my go-to for supplies, materials and tools. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The Southside location has a larger selection, but sometimes the Uptown location has stuff they don't have on the south side. Can't wait for the Northside location to open.
Jim F — Google review
As a home owner that needed to fix a water leak on my mobile home asap I relied on the "experts" over at Ace. I was recommended a bunch of fitting and hoses that cost me $100+ dollars. After installation of these fittings they just kept on leaking! I tried to see if I could return them and was told no because they were used! Well yeah! How else am I going to see if they work properly? I land up going to a mobile dealer and got the correct parts for half the price. I won't shop anymore at Ace unless I absolutely have to. Rude staff Everytime I need return something.

Rio Grande always has good customer service. The store is well stocked and organized. I generally buy tools and shop supplies for my motorcycle shop. This is my wife's favorite store for plants and gardening including buying hundreds of landscaping pavers. FIVE STARS!!!

This place was a delightful surprise! The food was excellent. I had the lamb shawarma with the sumac fries and the cauliflower. For dessert we had the tahini and chocolate and the date balls. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Also the lemonade is made fresh daily and is amazingly refreshing. We'll be back.
Kenneth A — Google review
I don’t mind paying a high price for high-quality food but it’s a real gut punch to pay a high price for such utter disappointment. As stalwart customers of Middle Eastern food wherever we travel, this is the worst experience and least genuine we’ve ever had. If I could give zero stars, I would; this ranks as one of the worst dinner experiences we have had. 1. We made the necessary reservation and then arrived at a virtually empty restaurant. There was a sign that said to seat yourself - but that’s unusual when you have a reservation so we entered and told the host we had a reservation. He said, “oh, that doesn’t matter, just sit wherever you want”. We sat inside and after a few minutes, no one brought a menu; we saw some near the door and got our own. We were brought glasses of warm water that were never refilled during our visit. 2. After some delay, we ordered the special for two which is two appetizers, two salads, two entrees (far too much food for two people, our fault - but we were disappointed that the waiter didn’t bother to warn us the size of the servings). We chose the shish-taouk chicken, the earth oven beef, the fattoush salad, Lebanese lentil soup, hummus, & beets tahini. 3. First .. instead of serving us in customary order (appetizer, salad, then main course), our food was all brought to the table in one overwhelming slam. When we commented, the waiter replied, “yeah, sometimes they all come out at once”. Our expectation of a fine dining experience vanished at that moment. The chicken was underwhelming and extremely dry. The beef was horribly infused with the flavor of lamb (I am assuming they are cooked in close proximity), and I hate lamb so it completely ruined the meal. Additionally, as shown in the picture, it was a pile of fat chunks, quite obviously a cheap and fat-laden cut of beef. The hummus was generically acceptable but very thick and impossible to scoop with what seemed to be grocery store quality pita bread. The lentil soup was served lukewarm and, while the flavor was nice, was completely cold and off-putting in minutes. Had it been presented as a single dish prior to the main meal, it may have tasted better warm. The salad was served with so much dressing (which was quite sweet tasting) that the lettuce was literally floating. My husband muttered “salad soup” more than once. The beets with tahini were good enough, as was a lemonade spritz drink. (Back to the entree: I asked the waiter if the beef was cooked with the lamb and he said they were cooked separately. I then suggested that it seemed that they were cooked in close proximity such that the steam from the lamb could easily infuse the beef and he said, “yeah, probably”.) 4. The waitstaff kept walking out to serve the folks seated outside and leaving the front door standing open so, we dealt with flies around our table and on our food. 5. While there were only about five tables occupied with small parties (four tables of two, one of four), the three-person waitstaff was extremely harried and rushed and we waited almost 15 minutes to get someone to bring our check. We complained about the almost all-fat beef dish and were given a 20% discount. We are usually willing to give an establishment a second chance but there was nothing we can imagine that would be redeeming about this place, so we won’t be back. As New Mexico residents it’s a shame that our first night of this visit to Taos was marred by this experience because we are faithful returning customers when we find a great place. Heed the bad reviews - this place is not worth your hard-earned money. The photos are the whole spread served at once, the plate of fat served as beef, and the remnant of the soup-salad.
Kelly S — Google review
We stopped by this cozy little spot in Taos after a long drive, looking forward to a good Mediterranean dinner. The place itself has a warm and inviting vibe, and the host was very kind in accommodating us even without a reservation (it would help if the website mentioned that reservations are recommended). As for the food — while the presentation was nice, the overall taste didn’t quite live up to the hype. I’m a big fan of Mediterranean cuisine and have had some wonderful meals elsewhere, so expectations were naturally high. The fattoush salad, was extremely tangy, which should have been balanced and refreshing, the balance just wasn’t there, and we could barely finish it. The lamb shawarma had more of a brisket-like texture — shredded , where it is supposed to have crisp exterior and juicy that typically makes shawarma shine. The lamb shank, often the showstopper in such menus, and it was beautifully cooked — tender and well-marinated — but unfortunately, the sauce poured over it overwhelmed the flavor of the meat. It was overly tangy and took away from what could have been a great dish. The one thing we truly enjoyed was the hummus with pita bread, which was smooth, flavorful, and satisfying. Overall, it’s a nice place with good service and potential, but the food didn’t quite meet expectations on flavor balance.

This place was great for a casual lunch. The food was delicious, especially the cauliflower. The rolls were a bit too dry for me, but both the lamb and pork were great. We sat on the porch because it had a nice breeze. The smoke from the oven eventually bothered my eyes a little, so be aware if you’re sensitive to that kind of issue.

I felt as though I was transported to an eatery in Lebanon. The food flavors were spectacular. I could smell the wood fire pine scent in the grilled meat as if I was enjoying a new fresh herb. Your palette will thank you.

Such delicious and varied flavors of food! Enjoyed the outdoor seating on the patio. The server was helpful, relaxed, and made you feel comfortable. Enjoyed the falafel special that had falafels, hummus pita, baba ganouj, fattoush, and a beet salad. Also had the earth oven pork that came with raisin rice and grilled vegetables. Did I have many of these items before? No! I was impressed, enjoyed each item, couldn’t say the names but felt satisfied and happy after! Enjoyed the baklava cheesecake too! So save space for something yum! *Be there early or try to make a reservation as it can fill up fast!*

Disappointed – I had high hopes for this place after seeing the beautiful photos and appreciating the calm, Zen-like ambience. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended. The service was disorganized, many menu items were unavailable, and the waits were excessive. On our first visit, we waited so long that we eventually left without ordering. We gave it another chance the following night and ordered takeout instead. We were told it would be ready in 30 minutes, but it took an hour. By the time we got home—just a short drive away—the food was cold and underwhelming. The portions were small for the $60 price tag, leaving us even more disappointed. Sadly, I won’t be returning. For the time, money, and effort, it simply wasn’t worth it.

Let me TELL YOU!! So I did circle the block a couple times trying to find the driveway entrance that's down a one way street but found it. Beautiful weather so I sat outside. Arrived around 11:20am. Only one there. Waiter was very nice and answered questions I had and recommendation. Ordered: Strawberry Lemonade Lamb Bowl Tahiti Roasted Cauliflower Hummus Baba Ganouj Lemonade: Don't recommend. Ask for 2 sugars. Even with that I did not like. Please find a different recipe...please. The entree took a bit longer than expected...like 25 minutes but WHEN I TELL YA it was SOO GOOD! The Cauliflower delish....everything was good!! Clean bathroom. Only one unisex bathroom. I'm here for 2 weeks...im definitely going to be back!

Located in Taos, Antonio's The Taste of Mexico is a beloved spot known for its traditional Mexican cuisine. Chef Antonio Matus has been impressing both locals and visitors with his inspired dishes, earning the restaurant a place among the top chile hotspots in Taos. Despite its unassuming exterior, once inside, guests are greeted by enticing aromas of carne asada and chicken enchiladas with green chile and mango.
Really great food! Very high quality food and presentation. The salsa served with our meal was delicious! Ended up buying some hot sauce as well. Try the coffee!

We had the chile relleno en nogada and pozole. Overall food was good but not stand out (to me). Service was amazing. It was my first time having chile relleno en nogada, so I can't properly rate it... but it was quite good. It was a heavy meal and I'd only recommend it if you appreciate meat with fruit and cinammony flavors, because that's what this dish mostly is. Sherry cream sauce was flavorful and the pomegranate seeds gave nice balance to everything. I liked it, but would not seek it out. But again, I am generally unfamiliar with this dish. Pozole was a huge portion and nice and warming. Waiter gave me lots of spicy sauce to add to my meal. He was lovely to all guests in the restaurant and had a lot of heart.

It was pricey but pretty good. Hubby got the mango enchilada that was featured on the Diners, drive-thru and dives show. I got the chicken fajitas and we each got a coke. It came to $70 with the 20% tip. I thought the chicken would be a little more flavored. Our local Mexican restaurant back home had more flavor. No complimentary chips or salsa. In fact, it was $10 if you wanted them too.

I had the signature Chilli rellano and it was amazing. Such a flavor explosion. I've eaten here a few times and all the dishes have been great! I waited a long time to be brought my desert but I had the cream cheese chimichanga and it was amazing as well.

Antonio’s cuisine is elevated from standard Mexican, presented beautifully w/a healthy & seasonal flair like the grilled peaches chicken enchiladas w/green chili sauce & apricot salsa

Absolutely incredible pozole! I found Antonio’s thanks to ChatGPT while road-tripping through Santa Fe, and it did not disappoint. This was easily one of the top 3 pozoles I’ve ever had anywhere in the world. The red chile chicken version tasted unbelievably fresh, perfectly seasoned, and full of rich flavor. The homemade tortillas were out of this world—thick, warm, and perfect for soaking up every drop. 20/10.

My husband and I discovered Antonio's on a recent trip to Taos. The owner, Antonio, said they had been in Taos for 23 years, but in other locations. All I can say is, where have you been all my life? Our food was delicious, the service was great, and the atmosphere was lovely - intimate enough for date night, with jazz music in the background, but also friendly enough to make friends with the tables around you (which we did). Antonio and his wife were very present in the restaurant, and visited our table frequently to check in on us. I mentioned that I had been looking all over Taos for sopapillas because we can't find them in our part of the world. He said that as far as he knew, Antonio's is the only restaurant serving them at night. They were absolutely perfect - very large, with light crispy exterior and pillowy soft inside. Along with the requisite soft butter and honey, they were perfection and I already wish I could have them again. In fact, Antonio's was so good the first night that we went back again the next night and ordered the exact same things. Be aware that their hours are non-traditional as they are closed Friday-Saturday. They also have a policy for children to ensure a safe and relaxing evening for everyone. If your little ones are active, you may want to consider eating at one of the comfortable outside areas. We have visited Taos many times, and seem to struggle to find great restaurants. Either they are more fussy than we prefer, or we find a favorite only for it to be gone the next time we're in town. Crossing our fingers that Antonio's is here to stay!

Sushi Siam is a must-visit culinary haven in Taos, offering a diverse menu with something for everyone. The restaurant prides itself on responsibly sourced plant-based and omnivore delights, ensuring there's joy and community in every dish. Guests can enjoy live music on weekends, Taos bluegrass Jam on Wednesdays, and Irish Jam Sessions.
Sushi Siam is a fantastic spot for anyone who loves Thai and Japanese cuisine. Their menu offers a great variety, but the real standouts for me have been the Crispy Duck with Panang Curry and the Tofu Red Curry—both bursting with rich, authentic flavors. The Tom Kha soup is perfectly balanced with a creamy, tangy broth, and their ramen with spicy miso broth is among the best I've ever had. Every dish is thoughtfully prepared with high-quality ingredients, and the flavors are spot on. Highly recommended.

Sadly we had a challenging experience here. We came in 40 minutes before closing and apparently that was too close to break time for the staff on duty that day. We were treated very briskly for most of our visit. They had sake on the menu but when we tried to order a hot sake we were told we couldn’t without being told why. We ordered our food and waited almost an hour for it. No one checked on us before or after its arrival, in fact no one was pleasant until it was time to pay the bill. The food was very good but our two orders of salmon sushi turned into one order of salmon and one of tuna. Disappointing all around for the prices, please do better for others, we won’t be returning.

Food was good but nothing to write home about. Good quality with no concerns about food safety. The rice bowl that came with my 1/2 duck was a little crusty from having been dished up in advance and sitting under a warmer. Tea pot water was tepid and when asked for more, hot tap water brought to me in a coffee cup. Interesting concept of Thai plus Japanese cuisine served in a town otherwise full of Southwest Tex Mex.
Misterculver — Google review
The food was delicious and nicely presented. The atmosphere of this establishment was also quite nice. The service? I was not pleased, in the least, by our male Thai server who was quite attentive to other customers but was straight out rude to me and my spouse who is Japanese/Chinese. It was truly uncomfortable. My 15% gratuity was generous for the server and I gave 20% to the itamae. We would return for the food, but not that form of service.

Certainly the best sushi in Taos, and also the best i have experienced anywhere in New Mexico. There are many Thai restaurants in North America, but not many good ones. This is one of the good ones, and one of the few good restaurants in Taos. The owners are very sweet and they are good cooks. Staff also attentive and excellent. consistently stellar staff actually. shushi is always beautiful and excellent, however the thai food is either fantastic, or it is disappointing. sadly, the thai food has been hit or miss over the last 3 years.

Discover the vibrant and lively atmosphere of Doc Martin's at the Historic Taos Inn, a historic home with brightly colored walls and live jazz music. Named after Dr. Thomas Paul "Doc" Martin, the county's first physician, this popular spot offers innovative regional cuisine and a hip vibe that attracts both locals and visitors. The restaurant prides itself on hospitality, reflecting the kindhearted nature of its namesake.
The place was old, walls thick with history, a charm that clung like damp air. Doc Martins hummed, alive, romantic in its weathered way. The server, her eyes green as cut jade, moved with a grace that stirred the blood. She was charming, upbeat, her smile a spark in the dim light. Service was sharp, clean, like a well-honed knife. The wild-caught salmon came, pink and firm, tasting of cold rivers and truth. It was remarkable, each bite a quiet victory. The room whispered of times past, of lovers and fighters, and it held us close. Five stars for the food, the woman, the walls. All of it true.

Tl;dr-Honestly, this is a great place to visit while in Taos. As long as you don't get our server. Also, make a reservation and don't roll the dice on a table. Highly recommended. So why 4*? Our particular server was just not great. She seemed to be actively trying not to work. You know when that changed? When it became apparent that my family of four was spending more than 50 / person. That's too sad. The tables adjacent to us had much better service than we did. They were constantly checking on their tables and getting their drinks. The drinks we got (by the time we got them) were watered down. We watched the bartender, who btw was amazing, pour them and then they sat for about 7 min while our server was nowhere to be found. We ordered soup/stew. She brought it to us without a spoon. After waiting 4 minutes I asked a bus boy for a spoon because she dropped it off and then she went AWOL. Look, as my wife said, maybe she had a bad day. Maybe her personal life is rough right now As a human being I'm sensitive to that. As a patron, I'm annoyed because I have to separate personal and business life. I do it out of necessity. Because I'm expected to i unfortunately expect others to also do it. Outside of our server, everything about this place was great. Would go back and just request a different server. I saw our neighbors experience and know it was better than ours

I had the opportunity to dine with you last night (Friday 4/25) and wanted to share some feedback from my experience. I ordered a glass of the Vivac Cab, the wine oxidized as if it had been open for a few days, the second glass I ordered was the Bonanza Cab which my server said she had to open fresh bottle and it was fine. The presentation on the appetizer was fantastic, unfortunately the flavor was less than expected. the Enchilada sauce had almost no flavor. I ordered the adovada plate, I mean I'm visiting New Mexico why not... this entire dish was a mis... the rice and beans had zero flavor... Adovada is supposed to be cooked in red chilis... the color of the meat was brown... no hint of chilis and was very salty. Definitely not a good representation. Service was ok, but I felt like my server spent all her time at her other tables and only stopped by if I gave her a look to swing by... also I'm pretty sure you should clear the entree plate before dropping the check.. I had to move the plate to sign my check. I was in Food & Beverage for 25years, your facility has charm and character... it would have been a home run if the food & bev stood up to the

The trout appetizer was the only good thing here. The food was over an hour wait for dinner and subpar and over priced. The server seemed to forget about us and we had to go to the bartender to tell her to get our check. I would come back for the margaritas and appetizer only.

Very disappointing experience at the Taos Inn tonight. I stopped by on a long road trip hoping for a fresh and wholesome meal and I definitely came to the wrong place. My waiter was sweet, but the best thing I ordered was the blood orange cider. Of the trio of dips I ordered to start, the queso was the only one that was edible, (though without much flavor.) the salsa was too spicy for me and the guac was tangy in an unsavory way. The beet salad was mostly a pile of raw kale, with a few diced beets and goat cheese crumbles, some very large pieces of red onion, and a side of (probably store-bought) vinaigrette. The salmon was undercooked and served on a plate of very plain brown rice with a few carrots (the carrots were also edible.) I sent all of this back, and the manager came by to apologize and offer me something different. When I asked for anything vegetable-forward, he offered me "enchiladas with calabacitas," so I decided to have another cider and give them a second chance, but the enchilada plate that came was swimming in sauce and the zucchini were sparse. In the end, I paid for my ciders and decided to eat my car snacks for dinner and keep driving....

Doc Martin’s, at the Taos Inn, is just as quirky as Taos itself. The interior is not quite as upscale as a few other eateries in the area, but it’s set within the original adobe house and celebrates local flavors beyond traditional chile, including choke cherry and fresh trout. Service is good, and the food is fresh and tasty, albeit a bit overpriced.

San Francisco de Asís Catholic Mission Church, situated in Ranchos de Taos just south of Taos, is a remarkable example of Spanish Colonial architecture. Constructed in the late 18th century entirely from adobe, it features striking sculptural buttresses and two front-facing bell towers. The interplay of light and shadow on its dramatic shapes has made it a beloved subject for artists like Georgia O'Keeffe and Ansel Adams.
Beautiful. Historic. There are a few restaurants and shops nearby if you go after 10am, so you can really take your time. The building is beautiful, but more historically remarkable. Keep in mind this still a practicing church. Be respectful.

A visit to The San Francisco de Assisi Mission Church in Ranchos de Taos, New Mexico is awe inspiring! The church itself is a magnificent example of Spanish Colonial architecture. However, over and above this, a visit to the gift shop to gain access to experience the mysterious painting, “The Shadow of the Cross” is a must. The entire experience was remarkably and when the image of Jesus holding a cross that mysteriously appeared when the lights were closed left an indelible image of the mystery!! A very nice RV park in town with spacious sites and excellent bathrooms. I received an email with the bathroom codes and wifi passwords ahead of time. They give you your site at check-in. We were next to the small walking trails. There is a grill and picnic table and reasonably level parking place. I called and talked with Elena on the phone. She was enthusiastic and fun to talk with. I needed a tent site for the night and she said there was plenty. The campground is laid out beautifully. There is plenty of privacy between sites. Everything is clean. Elena let me drive around and chose my tent site. Every tent is site fantastic. Picnic table, grill, and tent pad! I am a tent camper and usually prefer dispersed camping in the national forest or BLM. I wanted a little luxury with beautiful views and this checked all the boxes. The best part of this campground are the owners. I met Elena and she told me how they found this spot. You can see their hearts and souls in this place. It's priceless. I highly recommend this place and will stay again. It's a dog friendly place. I know this is a great place for the entire family.

Located on south side of Taos. Office staff helpful with local information. Our site was a pull thru. Do not expect to keep your tow vehicle connected to a 40+ ft class A. The roads thru the park have tight turns. Our site was better backed into because of the narrow road to our site. Park is clean with many trash cans as well as a dumpster at the entrance. Picnic table located on a cement pad. There are some sites with concrete pads. We had a gravel site that was pretty level.

This was our 2nd stay and both times were great. We stayed in a dry camping spot #74 both times. The whole property is clean and well maintained. The staff are so nice and accommodating. There a nice nature path in the back of the property and even doggie bag posts throughout. We will stay here every time we come to town.

If you want to pay $41 to DRY camp, sleep and cook on a slant, listen to loud, thumping music, dogs barking and cars revving from the neighboring houses all night long, walk 5 minutes to restrooms, get the second degree when asking for restroom codes and pay extra to dump, fill water etc ... THIS IS THE CAMPGROUND FOR YOU! Campers at campsites are nice and polite. #27 Shouldn't have to level out for a one night stay at that price.

The place is a standard RV park, and they have the expected facilities. They major issue is the adjacent houses. There are a lot of dogs that bark ALL night the one night we were there. Granted, we were in a tent, but my good ear plugs were not enough.

If you're looking for a fun and lively spot to spend your evening, look no further than Gutters Bowling! This vibrant venue boasts 12 bowling lanes alongside a full-service restaurant that serves up delicious food, including mouthwatering fire-roasted pizzas from their authentic brick oven. With options like gluten-free crusts available, there's something for everyone. The atmosphere is welcoming and family-friendly, making it an ideal destination in town where entertainment can be hard to come by.
Gutters was a completely unique and uplifting sporting experience. We played two games and almost even finished the second one! Disappearing balls, dogs eating small children’s pizza, intermittent butt rock anthems, and a rotting RV parked in the lot at the end of an unpaved road the ancient Romans would have scoffed at. Although Gutters is a strike, I’m no turkey.

Owners dog bit me and she threw us out. Owner called me horrible names. Full refund. Dec 17, 2023 Bit by owners dog in he ass and she threw us out. Just to make a long story short. I do not recommend this place if dog or owner are present.

I think it is great that there is a place for families to go bowling in Taos, however if a person is an experienced bowler, you probably don't want to use these lanes. The lanes are not oiled properly and patrons are allowed to bring food/drinks anywhere in the building so it's possible to step in soda, etc then transfer it onto the approach. I nearly fell onto the lanes while releasing the ball because of the inability to slide due to the house shoes being so dirty from the floors. So, if you're a serious bowler this is not a place for you. But for those of you that just walk up to the foul line, stop, and launch the ball onto the lane and hope it makes it to the pins, this is a fun place to do that!

On December 31st. I brought my family to celebrate my daughter's 7th birthday we spoke with a young man at the front desk we went ahead to go on and Bowl and we enjoyed every minute of it but for some reason they couldn't get the bumpers to work for the first part of our game then we decided to order some food being that the children were hungry. The same young man that took payment from us arriving at gutters took our order. After our order was taken I asked how good their salads are the young man with long blond hair told me that the salads were fairly good not the best salad in the world he said but it is very good he asked if I wanted a fish salad or chicken salad I told him that I would take a chicken Caesar salad. He than told me that he had a awesome chef from a former resteraunt in Taos. After placing my order about 10 minutes later my salad arrived when I first saw my salad I thought it looked gross. I went on to take a bite and taste it before I judged it. I didn't say anything and I passed it to my partner to see if he would like it. He then looked at me with a disturbing face and asked me if I ordered a fish salad he told me that he thought it tasted like fish. I went on to continue tossing my salad around the bowl when I found a "penny" that's right a "penny" After finding the penny I was completely disgusted. I then waited for my pizza when the pizza arrived it looked good I honestly felt better. Then I went on to take the pizza back to the desk and ask them to cut my big slices into half slices. The young man with "long" blond hair went on to grab the pizza slicer he then swung his "long blondish red hair" over my pizza. I then asked him if he could remove his head from my pizza because his hair was going to fall into the pizza or whatever could be in his hair. At that point I was really disgusted again because I had just seen his hair hanging over my pizza. After finding a Penny... "OMG" I then took my pizza back to my table and started to serve my children. After serving my children I looked underneath the pizza and realized it had not even been cooked thoroughly it had only been cooked to melt the cheese and change the color of the crust. The bottom of my pizza was still doughy and very very greasy. I returned all my food and ask for a refund. After asking for a refund the cook came from the back and ask to see the pizza that I was returning he did not see anything wrong with the uncooked greasy Pizza. The cook then looks at me and gave me a foul look. Even giving them the salad back with the penny where I found it.. ... This was no way personal I just wanted my money back. For anyone that is ordering pizza or any food for that matter should make sure that the people dealing and handling their food are clean. This look the cook gave me was uncalled for. After I was refunded my money for my food I looked over at the table next to me and saw the food they ordered the nachos were made with shredded cheese and nacho chips however I noticed that their plate looked awful. The bowling was great we loved it and we would be back again to both for sure. We do enjoy this place for fun and for having a great day with your family..... I actually brought the penny home and made it a souvenir!...

We rented out a lane for a ridiculous price. It was 91 dollars for 2 lanes for an hour. They only have two people working here and you pay by time. Our lane took 3 minutes to cycle between each bowler when it was actually functioning, but the standard was it would stop working pretty much every 5 mins so in our entire hour we bowled for about 20 actual minutes. I will never return here again.

Awesome service. The tastiest food. Fried pickles are my new fav in the state. Shishto peppers and bowling? Don't mind if I do! Beer and wine. Pool. Air hockey. Video games that work! If your in taos just come by and see for yourself.

My family and I went in stood waiting no one would help us pay so we could play. My wife bought an arcade game we finally just left we wanted to bowl. Also we were the only non Caucasian, I guess no brown folks allowed.

So the bowling was fun but I felt real bad for poor Methilda manning the front desk, the bar, and the kitchen all on her own on a Friday evening. Whoever owns the joint should hire more help, no one should wait an hour and ten minutes for a pizza. "nO oNe wAnTs tO wOrK" They will if you pay appropriately

Nestled in the heart of New Mexico, Taos Eco Park is a stunning outdoor destination that champions environmental sustainability and education. This vibrant park boasts lush gardens, well-maintained walking trails, and recreational facilities perfect for families and nature enthusiasts alike. It serves as a community hub for various outdoor activities, educational programs focused on environmental awareness, and events aimed at preserving the natural beauty of the area.
Walking track. Clean bathrooms. One side of parking lot shaded for summer, one side open for warmth in winter. Conveniently located. Wish it had a few more trash cans, as I tend to pull in and eat on fast food days, but otherwise it's really cool.

Great place to charge up. Really clean restrooms and rocks to play with.
Raphael W — Google review
I've started taking walks on the trail around the soccer field. It's nice to be off the street and away from car traffic. It's also plowed, so it isn't slippery or muddy like my neighborhood roads. Three laps is a mile. It's a nice place for people to walk their dogs, and poop pick up bags are provided!
Mary E — Google review
Had to spend some time here one weekend as part of my kiddos soccer games and subsequent tournament. For being in a smaller town the field and equipment was in great shape. The bathrooms were clean and in mostly good shape. The only thing is that if you find yourself seated on the metal bleachers on a sunny day, you will absolutely COOK in the sun. If your going to spend some time here during the day, bring an umbrella for something for the shade, trust me, you won't regret it. Depending on the # of fans that attend, parking can also be a little bit of a chore, but otherwise, not a bad place whatsoever to watch the kids play some sports.

Step back in time and explore the Martinez Hacienda, a museum housed in an 1804 hacienda-style home that offers a glimpse into the Spanish colonial era. This historic house was once the residence of Severino Matinez and his family, including Padre Antonio Martinez, an influential figure who advocated for Native education and resisted outside influences.
A fascinating glimpse into daily life at an early-19th century working hacienda. Historical information posted in each room works well for a self-guided tour. We visited on a weekday morning and nearly had the place to ourselves, although I imagine that other weekday visitors might encounter school groups.

A great place to see and learn about how they lived in the Taos area back in the early 1800s through the mid 1900s. Beautiful Adobe home with really interesting floors! We learned a lot about the Martinez family and how they survived back then. Fun and educational!

Ranchos Plaza Grill is a must-visit in Taos, offering warm sopapillas and delectable blue corn enchiladas that are simply unforgettable. Located near the San Francisco de Asis Catholic Mission and Chimayo Trading Del Norte, it's a great stop for both food and sightseeing. The restaurant has gained high praise on TripAdvisor for its New Mexican cuisine.
Absolutely amazing! Really old area of Taos. The atmosphere is relaxing and intriguing and sits right next to the old church. The food was intoxicating. I had the stuffed sopapilla with beef and green chili, and I am so hooked. The beef tacos were delicious. When in Taos, eat here!
Stephani B — Google review
We really enjoyed our lunch. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. The sopapillas were the best ever. The burger looks small next to the heaping salad (which was a great salad) but it was thick and cooked to perfection. Very filling. I couldn't eat it all. Kids had a Xmas burrito and cheese quesadilla. We can't wait to return. We already know what we want to try next.
Stephanie T — Google review
Wow, finally Mexican food with flavor. Tamale, cheese enchilada, relleno were all good, and the taco was actually great. Beef fajitas had good flavor. Lunch portion was perfect, came with 2 flour tortillas. A little slow on the holiday weekend. Single bathroom at the bottom of the restaurant floors.

We visited this place based on the high reviews. We were very disappointed. The ambience does not exist. The food is very ordinary, the location is few miles out of Taos. I do not know why people give such high rating to this place, when there are plenty of options with great tasty food? Do not go there.

With its inviting ambiance, you can unwind by a crackling fire in the lounge or soak up the fresh air on the patio. The menu, crafted by Executive Chef Timothy Wooldridge, showcases local flavors with dishes like mouthwatering enchiladas and unforgettable nachos sourced from New Mexico's finest farmers.
We had a fantastic experience at Sagebrush Grill and Cantina in Taos, NM! The informal, relaxed atmosphere made it the perfect spot for a family outing. We started with the buffalo wings, which were deliciously spicy and perfectly cooked. The burger was juicy and flavorful, and it hit the spot just right. Our 7-year-old birthday boy, Anthony, absolutely loved his slider – it was the perfect size for him and made his day special. The friendly staff and cozy ambiance added to the wonderful dining experience. Highly recommend Sagebrush Grill and Cantina for a great meal in Taos!

Great open space in the cantina to have some drinks and eats. The nachos are HUGE and the local beer selection was solid. The live music from a band with great range made for a fun atmosphere in an old west setting. The patio outside has a great view of the mountain just behind the pueblo, perfect for sunset.

First time coming here... atmosphere was top notch with ambiance. Loved the live music! It is a holiday weekend so I always give grace to busy servers. However people that came in after us were served first. I had to go to the bar and get my own drink. My server was reluctant to give me her name. She said call her Banana Pepper Star. Ugh Hopefully it was a bad day for her. You never know what is going on with someone in their personal life. Food was on point! So delicious

I have no idea why this establishment has only a 3.9. It almost deterred us from going there. We are so glad we ignored the 3.9 rating! It was perfect! We each enjoyed an amazing meal and I basked in a delicious glass of Bordeaux. We loved the atmosphere and the ambiance. I'd give more stars if I could.

Food taste was good but not prepared as asked. I had salad with steak added. Meat not cook as requested and refrigerator cold. My husband's rice and mixed veggie were the same. I just don't see the best grill. But I can say.....beer was good.
Pamela O — Google review
Food bad, service bad, staff completely indifferent to mistakes. Staff basically ignored us unless we flagged them down, even being the only people in the place the staff couldn't be bothered to check on the table. First the waiter argues about diet coke v. regular coke with my 9 year old when she asks about the off flavor. Then she gets overcooked, old pasta, which she had asked for plain but they added cheese to. And when I say that, it was like the pasta that you don't get out of the pan and is hard and brown. Point it out to staff and they ask if she wants new pasta and when she says there was also cheese the waiter says "ya it comes with cheese". I mean it doesn't when you make plain pasta. Then the cook keeps giving us dirty looks after sending it back and sends under cooked pasta and the waiter comes back saying "plain pasta with nothing, better?" I could comment on the rest of the food and experience, but extrapolate that to a soggy appetizer and two adult entrees as well. Would never eat here again, terrible experience.
Justin N — Google review
We're guests of the hotel. Food and service was good at dinner, but the breakfast waitress was extremely rude with a nasty attitude. We got up and left before we ordered our food. No need to start off with your customers with a nasty attitude.

Our favorite spot in Taos! Live music every night with really amazing bands going on after 8pm. Bar gets crowded at night. Love that they serve local wine from vivac. Drink and food prices are reasonable. We loved all the food we had...salsa, burger and fries, chicken enchiladas, and the chile rellenos are our favorite. Katie behind the bar is awesome! Lots of locals, great vibes, and dancing.

This is a small place with a lot of choices. They have excellent coffee and tea options. The food is great, but the pies win the prize. If you want a quiche or whole pie it's worth the price. They do "Pi Day" with Pies. Great prices with outstanding pies. My other favorites are the black sesame seed noodles, spinach & feta croissant, and deviled eggs. There's not much seating but it's a good place to grab a bite and enjoy conversation.

The restaurant offers an unforgettable experience with its focus on cocktails, steaks, and New Mexican-inspired cuisine. Guests can savor dishes like Pinon crusted trout with green chili goat cheese crema and perfectly cooked steaks that have received high praise from patrons.
Dropped in with no reservation on a Wednesday evening and was immediately seated at a window table. Was pleasantly surprised by the extensive menu and reasonable prices (for Taos)! The lamb tacos were absolutely delicious along with a tasty warm spinach salad. They even had my favorite Spanish wine by the glass. I'll be back soon!

Pretty darn good. I’d say most of the negative reviews are quite exaggerated or overcritical, probably picky folks with the wrong expectations. We called for a reservation two days before, and although the person on the phone was a little gruff and distracted, it was handled. We showed up 15 minutes before, and our reservation was honored with no issues and we were seated immediately. Our server was excellent - she was friendly, upbeat, and present the whole time, so no issues with any of those concerns. The food was great, we both had a filet, it was cooked pretty much on par - a few points off for my wife’s steak being a little more rare than asked - but not bad, otherwise no other issues. Sides were good, drinks were excellent, dessert was great. The place was pretty much at capacity but didn’t feel terribly cramped. Seating was still available outside but I think most folks were nervous about the dark clouds in the sky. For a steakhouse, prices were not bad. $39 for the 8oz filet, $3 for sauces and sides, reasonable drinks. All and all a good experience and would recommend. No, not the most amazing restaurant in the world - but for a steakhouse in a small town? Meets the mark completely.

A friend of mine who has lived in Taos 15 years recommended Martyrs Steakhouse based upon over a dozen meals that he consumed in the last 4 years. My friend from Brooklyn and I were dazzled on every level: atmosphere, food, service, and overall ambiance. Our server was electric she was so quick and thoughtful. We both had a house favorite, fish and chips. Delightfully crispy and tasteful, complete with skinny fries and nice cole slaw. I had a nice glass of Argentinian wine and left totally satisfied. This is a beautiful place to enjoy the company of family or friends and it's a given that you will be a superstar with your guests for your choice of this venue.

The food was pretty good. The atmosphere is nice. However, I feel like we just got a server that wasn't having the best day because we were not told what the specials were for the day. Everyone around us got asked if it was a special occasion, but not us, and it was our anniversary. My husband did not get his drink when we first asked for it. We also just asked for bread and butter, and we were brought extras and charged for them. Overall, had the service been better, it would have been a great experience. But due to the subpar service, it wasn't great.
Christi H — Google review
Really good food. Lots of unique options. I had the spicy sesame tuna wrap. It was spicy, and it was delicious. The shoestring fried were also tasty! My reason for not giving more points was the wait to be seated, there was no one in front of us and there were plenty of tables, yet it took 10-15 minutes to seat us, a bit of wait on the food and a bit of wait again on the check. I recommend this place, but recommend not being in a hurry.

Everything we ate was delicious and well above expectations for a small town steakhouse. The steak was delicious, the trout was perfectly cooked and seasoned, the frites were actually frites, and the spinach side dish was spectacularly tasty. Lambert's of Taos is a charming restaurant located in downtown Taos, offering an intimate and upscale setting for enjoying contemporary American cuisine. The cozy cottage ambiance, complete with dim lighting and cocktail jazz, sets the stage for savoring their delectable dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. From the flavorful lamb shank to the perfectly cooked scallop dish, the menu boasts a variety of creative offerings.
Lambert’s is the gem of Taos, with a charming courtyard that offers romance and relaxation. The menu is thoughtfully curated, and the dishes are expertly prepared. The gazpacho, the bass, the dessert — every course is seasonal, made from scratch, and has an exceptional flavor profile. We appreciated the friendly, highly professional service as well…the kind you’d expect in a city many times the size. The bolognese was absolutely the worse meal I have ever had in a restaurant. Really, really bad. My husband ordered the salmon that had ni taste. Even the bread tasted and looked so stale. I complained about my meal and didn’t get any satisfaction. Our server, when she brought out the enormous bill said that the bill didn’t include her gratuity. One if the worse experiences I’ve ever had in any restaurant. We will NEVER come back here

Solid, local Taos museum. Small, but well run. They were welcoming and gave us a quick overview of the building when we got there. Some of the modern art was underwhelming, as it can be in my opinion. However, it was cool to see some influential artists in the Taos area. If you’re looking for a way to experience some art and culture you can spend about an hour here then go next door for some wine tasting.

Nice collection of regional modern and historic art. Was quiet and we felt unhurried moving through the galleries. The museum was showing a very nice exhibition of work by artists who had used the GI Bill following WWII to get their art education, so the work was mainly from the 50s, 60s and 70s, along with a fun exhibition about a local Taos radio station. I feel I understand the culture and community of Taos much better having visited the museum. Great value!

Children's museum
Imagine Children's Museum in Taos is a must-visit for families with young children. The museum offers a fantastic interactive experience that encourages creativity, play, and exploration. It's not just a typical museum; it's more like an interactive center where kids can engage in open-ended play and various activities. The staff are friendly, patient, and genuinely excited to see children enjoying the exhibits. The space is accessible for all abilities, making it inclusive for everyone.
My son absolutely loved this place! It’s a hidden gem in Taos, perfect for families with kids. We had a fantastic time building things together, creating some great memories. Andrew was incredibly helpful and greeted us with a warm smile, making the experience even better. Highly recommend for a fun and engaging family outing!

This was such a great place and our 3 year old granddaughter had a blast. The volunteer that greeted us is a retired teacher, who gave us a tour and recommended age appropriate things for her to do. We spent three hours here and could have stayed longer but she was worn out!! Definitely worth a visit. Also it's free! We left a donation to help make sure they keep going for next time we come to town.

Museum isn’t quite the right description. This is like a children’s interactive center. My 3yo had a great time. I think it would be even more fun for older kids as they have a pottery wheel and lots of materials to create structures. We spent time playing with the memetic sand. Can’t recommend this more, and it’s free!

What a fantastic children's museum! It's all about creativity, play, and exploration, - and meets that goal - (rather than falling into the trap of overstimulation like many children's museums have). My kids were so content in each room, and each room presented new opportunities for open-ended play. The sand room was a favorite right when we walked in. My kids walked in and started playing right away with the huge table full of kinetic sand, and after a couple minutes, we were greeted by one of the staff members who was incredibly kind and knowledgeable about Taos and other good hikes, etc we could do while staying in Taos. The clay room, another favorite, as they allow kids to hand build with real clay and even sometimes try their hand at a pottery wheel! What an opportunity! Then, the nature room, where you can explore an array of natural items like coral skeletons with magnifying glasses. So cool. Then, there's a painting room, a crafting room, and then the place opens up into a fairy-land of color, what looks like rooms full of fun interactive art installations! Not to mention all of the building materials kids can use to create tunnels and even marble runs! This place was a total gem. We loved it so much we came back the next day! I could not recommend this place more. They clearly know what they're doing, and the kids all gave it double thumbs up. Both times.

Imagine was one of the highlights of our trip to Taos (in addition to the beauty of Taos!). Our 5 and 7 year olds loved exploring every room and both found many things to keep them engaged and creating. My children loved it so much, they demanded to go back a second day. The staff were kind, patient, and helpful and truly excited to see children utilizing everything available. The space is accessible for all abilities. Please visit and support this amazing museum.

Took our son to the children’s museum while on vacation. The outside was closed so that took a lot of the exhibits away, and the website showed exhibits that we were looking forward to, but were not still there. He enjoyed the water tables and bubbles the most and said he had a lot of fun. With the outside under construction and not accessible I’m not sure it was quite worth the price for entering.

Excellent place for young children and the young at heart to come and build, create, and play with sensory toys. If you have a little one who loves to imagine and create, you could spend hours here. A true community treasure put together by really creative individuals.

Additionally, TCA hosts the Taos quilt show during Memorial weekend - a delightful and free event worth attending.
Nothing but positive things to say about the TCA. Such a community treasure. The concerts and movies are my favorite thing to do in town

Bent Street Grille is a charming country-style spot in Taos, offering comfort food for breakfast and specialty sandwiches for lunch. The restaurant is renowned for its authentic northern New Mexican brunch featuring dishes like huevos rancheros and Taos-style eggs benedict. With a welcoming ambiance and friendly hospitality, it's a dream destination for breakfast and brunch lovers. While it offers plenty of vegetarian options, making them vegan is not difficult.
The staff were very friendly and pleasant. The food was excellent. After having an amazing experience for breakfast, we returned later that day to have dinner . Both visits were great 👍. I definitely recommend this restaurant. The outdoor patio was wonderful.

We ordered black bean veggie burger, breakfast tacos with tofu and waffle on side. Everything was good, just the hash brown were weird. Waiting time is there! Tacos were delicious!

Loved my breakfast Tacos. Paid a little extra for sprinkled bacon. Potatoes came out crispy as requested. My husband enjoyed his blue corn waffles. Our server was so kind. We enjoyed our 2 cups of coffee. An easy walk from the Taos Inn if you run fast enough to avoid cars.

I had the best tuna melt of my life here. SO delicious, the fries were scrumptious. The arnold palmer I ordered was also delicious. HIGHLY recommend this place if you’re looking for a delicious sandwich, yummy fries, & the best atmosphere. They’re also extremely dog-friendly, which I loved.

Best breakfast we've had so far and the view to an old courtyard is lovely. Our waiter Lucas was attentive and polite. Big portions of tasty food. The side pancake is more like a regular portion. Excellent coffee.

The food is amazing! Who knew that huevos could taste so wonderful!? Lavazza coffee, our server, Lucas was excellent and the atmosphere is cozy and homey. Non-pork bacon ( beef!(better) or turkey (yuck)) would be a nice option to add to the menu.

Nestled in the heart of Taos, The Lounge by Rolling Still Distillery is a vibrant tasting room that showcases the creativity and passion of its women-owned founders, Nicole Barady and Liza Barrett. This dynamic duo began their journey with vodka, crafting four unique infusions inspired by New Mexico's rich ingredients like lavender, pecan, and both roasted red and green chiles.
Sweet little spot to grab drinks. Lots of options for indoor and outdoor seating- we chose a nice table outside since the weather was warm. Drink menu was very unique & creative and the two that we tried were delicious. Quick service and attentive staff. Nice that they’re open late too. The lavender vodka was a definite win!!

We visited the Lounge by Rolling Still Distillery after dinner. The drinks were handcrafted works of art that were beyond delicious. The staff are incredibly talented, knowledgeable and friendly. This is a must visit.
Charity J — Google review
On our last night in Taos, we ventured out on a stormy night filled with lightning ⚡ strikes and downpours. Wifey was acting nervous and apprehensive as we sat in the car parked a half block away from The Lounge by Rolling Stills as sirens blurred and rain 🌧️. pouring down along with high winds. After about 20 minutes of waiting in the car it lightened up enough for us to literally run to The Lounge. To our surprise their were about 10 people there. Call us The Brave... Or crazies. Anyway we seated ourselves on an available couch. Nice and comfy and was immediately greeted by Tamara, our server for the evening. She was sweet and gracious and super attentive. After menu-ing we decided on a charcuterie board. Oh it was filled with all the goodies. The drinks came soon after. Old Fashioned Whiskey for me and wifey did the Moscow Mule and wine route. We had a great time chatting, and Tamara would come over and entertain us with stories related to things we were familiar with. They were also playing salsa music, most of the songs from my country of origin, Puerto Rico... The unofficial 51st of the USA. Citizens of this great country since 1917. Well it was a great night after all. Thank you Tamara for being such a great host. 5🌟 in any weather!

We were walking around Taos at night and happened to stumble upon the Lounge. It’s a hip cocktail bar in a nice house with multiple rooms and various seating options, from bar seating to high tops to couches and comfy chairs, and a large courtyard outside. Their cocktails are 🔥, really high quality and creative. Ordered the margarita and the favorite child drink, both were great. Would recommend

Came to Taos for a concert stopped by the Lounge afterwards and had the best after party experience. They had a great staff very friendly and professional even though they were slammed all night due to the flow of concert guests and they had a live music of their own. Chris Brochu a local musician and artist who knocked it out of the park. We closed the place down and met a very personal able not to mention pleasant man named Scott we talked to him about many topics not only about himself the Bills, skiing, family and life great conversation wonderful grounded person. Can’t wait to come back and hopefully run into this great person again. Thanks You Scott.

Best place to have cocktails and hand out with friends in Taos! They have different varieties of cocktails and some signature ones that I love them. It gets pretty crowded end of week that I like but the music band wasn’t good enough for such a place . I give them 4.5 ⭐️. Second night in row and I can tell Amazing drinks and customer service. I wish we had such a place in Albuquerque . Don’t forget to get bottled your favorite cocktail home! 🍸

Chokola is a chocolate artisan shop in Taos, NM that produces some of the best chocolate in the area. The shop is small but the owner and team are passionate about their work and take great pride in their products. The menu features a variety of delicious chocolates, as well as coffee and tea. They have great coffee and pastries. We stopped by for afternoon cups of coffee. Our choices were delicious. We will be back on our next trip to Taos. Highly recommend!

Great sipping chocolates - we tried the arabica, French Vanilla. I didn’t care for the Maya but they swapped me with an Aztec and that hit the spot. Also tried the whiskey chocolate torte which was good. And we really enjoyed the chocolate ice cream with a bit of the Aztec sipping chocolate spooned over top…

What a special gem just off the Taos plaza! We bought several bars that we loved, but most of all the mousse bar was our favorite! We came back every day of our visit to get a new flavor. The servings are small, but they are so rich and flavorful, you're more than satisfied. Just delicious.

Oh my! Organic bean to bar chocolate heaven! The French chocolate mousse bar? Whipped perfection. Cakes on offer were hard to decide on… We landed on the vegan olive oil cake yet the sourdough chocolate cake with espresso buttercream looked divine. Paired with an excellent espresso. Best dessert in a long time.

Restaurant
The Love Apple is a charming restaurant located in a former church, offering seasonal New Mexican cuisine with French influences. The rustic patio provides an intimate dining experience. The restaurant's interior is adorned with art, creating a unique atmosphere for guests to enjoy. The building's historical significance adds to the overall appeal of the dining experience. Additionally, the restaurant emphasizes regional, local, and organic home cooking, with a menu that changes regularly to showcase seasonal produce availability.
Love the ambience of this re-purposed old church! Each dish is thoughtfully crafted, though the excellent starter of grilled endives and leeks with a caper vinaigrette, bacon, parmesan, and a fried egg was the best for me. Have to have the super soft corn muffins as well, and the delicious pinon tart.
Becca F — Google review
I really love this restaurant—I’ve been here before, and the food is consistently excellent. This time, it was especially busy, and our waitress seemed overwhelmed. I probably would’ve ordered another drink, or even coffee and dessert, if she’d had the time—or willingness—to take my order. When I did ask, she was noticeably rude. Later, she returned and said, “Oh, did someone already take your order?” which felt more like a cover-up for her behavior than a genuine mix-up. To her credit, she did offer me a dessert to go, which I appreciated—but the overall interaction still left a bad taste in my mouth. I get that busy shifts can be stressful, but basic courtesy really matters. That said, the food here is still fantastic, and I’ll be back—but I hope the service is better next time.

What a gem! We were visiting Taos and decided to try this restaurant for dinner. Luckily we were able to get a reservation. In the dark, very hard to find. But once you find it, the ambience of the restaurant is beautiful and inviting. Service is attentive and prompt. Food was out standing, especially sea bass. A must try. For appetizers, We had the corn bread, which the restaurant is known for, and grilled mushroom - savory and well flavored. Our second entree was the duck dish with mole. The duck was well cooked and prepared. Overall, we were very pleased with our experience and time at the Love Apple.

If you're in Taos, New Mexico, this should be a stop. Daughter did the research and proclaimed it to be a MUST DO so we did. The setting is almost like a hidden gem. It's tucked back in a gravel parking lot! Once you walk to it, it's very warm and inviting with Whispering curtains and colorful seating. ENTER! and wow very small entry and please make sure you have a reservation (ours was 1 month in advance) because again, it's not likely a walk in will be seated (management please correct me if I'm wrong). Daughter and I are seated and immediately served water with menus. Server arrives literally 10 seconds later. She is so informative and friendly! We order a bottle of red and the famous blue corn muffins with dill/parmesan butter to start. Daughter not enamored of the red wine so I graciously accept the residue (I'm not driving). The blue corn/yellow muffin appetizer is a wide eyed enjoyment. Literally crumbles in our mouths and the 2 butters slathered on top is worthy of an Oscar. Next up: The beet/grapefruit/avocado salad which is so gorgeously presented it should be a fascinator (that's a British hat). It's scrumptious! The sweet, tart and bland meld well! And now the next Oscar! My fried avocado tacos and daughter's encrusted sea bass makes an appearance ONLY to be devoured in nothing flat. The tacos were (first) like a painting on my plate! Green, purple, orange embedded in a soft brown shell. One bite folks and I'm wondering if I've had my last taco. ABSOLUTELY SUBLIME. every taste melts with each other! Nothing overpowers each ingredient. That's what you call perfection! Daughter let me have a bite of her sea bass and I was absolutely blown away by the non fishy taste (do you look for that too?). So just to be completely, 100% overboard YES! DESSERT! We order the flour less chocolate torte and man, the minute it's in front of us I smile because this presentation suggests it's going to be delicious and IT IS. whoa! Chocolate taste is sliding down your throat with a thunder you haven't experienced. It's unmatched and please! Pick up the homemade whipped cream with your fork for a further bounce. Our dinner here was one of the best! Please note: it's cash only and that's cold, hard cash. No cash apps accepted. Well worth it!

Cute little restaurant in Taos. Very unassuming from the outside. Hard to make a reservation if you don’t have a US phone number, as they only confirm via calling you back after you leave them a message. So I called on the day through WhatsApp and luckily someone picked up and booked us a table. I did try messaging on their social media first and explained the limited contact options, but didn’t hear back. We had a salad, corn muffins (which were the main standout for us), a tamale, tacos, and a crumble dessert. Plenty of veggie options. All decent, nothing earth shattering. A good option when in Taos.

What a charming, lovely, fine dining experience! This restaurant has taken the fine dining to a different level with their unique combination of fresh and locally sourced ingredients. So satisfying! The decor, the mood, the lighting, and the music made this a perfect location to celebrate a special night. Our waiter patiently assisted us choosing the meals that suits our appetite being vegetarian. We shared Seasonal fruit, local greens, pecans and warm goat cheese salad followed by Love Apple Tacos (vegetarian) and a tasty dessert. I'd LOVE to be back here again one day.

Day 4

Off the beaten path
For day 4, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Fred Baca Park. Not quite as popular as San Francisco de Asís Catholic Mission Church, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 7 hours.

Fred Baca Park is a lovely public green space in Taos that offers various amenities for visitors to enjoy. The park features a playground, spacious field, basketball courts, and leafy paths that provide shade and a refreshing escape from the desert surroundings. It's an ideal spot for leisurely walks under the morning sun while observing the diverse bird and butterfly species. Families frequent the park to make use of its clean facilities, shaded play area, and walking loop for exercise.
Outstanding park with great amenities like Tennis, Basketball and beautiful boardwalks for you and your dog 🐕. 💚💚 It also has a clean restroom 💚

This is a great community space. There are playgrounds, new tennis and basketball courts, and the extra paths in the back make it great to take a longer walk. It's dog friendly and kid friendly.

This newly renovated park has something for almost everyone. Dog friendly park with 1/2 mile walking/ jogging paths. It is a birder's paradise with wetlands with blinds, ponds and a variety of trees and foliage creating the perfect habitat for feathered friends. There are tennis courts for those who want that kind of exercise and free admission and parking. Also picnic tables and benches and restrooms. Open from 8am to 8pm daily.

Really nice park with tennis courts, pit toilets, playground, picnic shelter, shaded picnic tables and lots of open green space. The boardwalk Trail is wonderful as a meanders through the marshlands. Pet friendly on leash. Unfortunately there are those who think being off leash is okay. A welcome find in my travels.
Donna L — Google review
Beautiful trail and scenery but very disappointed in the upkeep. I couldn’t read any of the signs because all were weathered or had graffiti. There was graffiti at the end of every trail , looks like it will be the wastelands pretty soon if they don’t take care of this place. Sad 😞
Darlene V — Google review
Great park for the kids and adults. Well maintained playground and big open field for running. Picnic tables are clean and in good shape. Short hike through the marsh lands; kids were freaked out by the unidentified snake. It’s unfortunate the tennis courts are not maintained at all; Cracked with weeds and no nets. The basketball hoops are part of the tennis courts which is unusual. Bathrooms weren’t horrible but need to be stocked with toilet paper and a pump or sink to clean hands. Still think it deserves five stars for being a really nice park.
Robin B — Google review
Great little park for birders, dog walkers, and exercise. There are tennis and pickleball courts and a children's playground area.
Lori G — Google review
I come here fairly often, every few weeks, and my wife brings the dogs a couple of times a week. In warm weather there are usually lots of walkers (not TWD kind), kids and dogs until mid morning. That level of activity resumes mid afternoon so if you’re looking for solitude midday/early afternoon is good. Town of Taos parks are very dog friendly with several dispensers for biodegradable poop bags in each. Fred Baca park adjoins wetlands and has a walkway elevated just enough for dry walking. Wildlife lives in the wetlands and migratory birds visit as well. The park adjoins and accesses Rio Fernando Park so I usually walk through both. Some of the photos l am sharing are from the RFP.

Taos Cow @ Anglada is a must-visit for those craving locally made ice cream and delicious sandwiches. The menu constantly offers delightful surprises, with flavors like lavender vanilla that are not to be missed. Pair your scoop of ice cream with a brownie for an extra treat. The cozy setting in the restored Anglada building adds to the welcoming atmosphere, making it a great place to indulge in their excellent food and favorite ice cream flavors.

The ice cream was tasty. The young gal who took our order had no tact and came across as someone who shouldn't be in the hospitality industry. Is it the best ice cream I have ever had? Definitely not 🤔

Had the lavender and the pistachio ice cream and they were STUPENDOUS!! Very natural and without all the fluff and puff, fake color, etc. Very large portions on the breakfast and lunch menu. 5 stars!

Edit: wow! You have to try to burn coffee that badly. I've worked coffee shops before, I know it happens sometimes and it can't be helped, I also know what good coffee tastes like and burnt coffee taste like. You'd think they could at least be nice about it though and admit that it's burnt instead of treating their customers like a Karen. Instead they insisted that it was their finest roast and refused to even taste it. I almost gagged. They get two stars though because I really like their bagels. Always spot on with the bagels. Credit given where credit is due. Might be worth mentioning that I've gotten their coffee before and it's usually delicious, seriously threw me off when they were rude to me when I told them how burnt that batch of coffee was 😭. They did not make a new batch, they insisted that's just what it's supposed to taste like and gave me *some of* my money back. $3 back on a $4 16 oz coffee 🤷

To premise this review, I have lived in Taos my whole life and have enjoyed Taos cow ice cream since I was extremely young, however consistently when I have gone, unless I am being served by the owner there is always issues with customer service. As an ice cream shop you want to create a welcoming and inviting area for people, especially families and etc. I have had some of the worst customer service in the new Angladas building, the lady who served me was tatted all over with god knows how many piercings, and was generally rude in how she addressed me and how I observed her addressing others as well. This has not just been this last time I went, it’s a pretty consistent thing and I find even when I ask my friends and family about their experience, every time they say the ice cream is excellent but the service is poor. Everyone is entitled to look and dress how they want, however if Taos cow wants to attract more business, get young well dressed people who are customer service orientated.

Was picked up in the 10 min time frame given by the girl who took the order. I ordered a turkey club sandwich with added cucumber and sprouts but got all the way home and was sour kraut 🤢 It was good though I just scraped off what I didn't need but I did pay for the sprouts to be given that. Was a big sandwich. If you are sharing get some extra chips 😊 Got a couple pints of ice cream! Didn't know that they had that 😊 Overall 4 out of 5

Fantastic tour! This is a must see if you are interested in the Taos Society of Artists. Be sure to call or stop by to sign up for the tour, as this is a guided tour. The tour can take several hours, but is a fascinating adventure through the Couse-Sharp property.

The Taos Art Museum at Fechin House is located in the former residence of Russian artist Nicolai Fechin and now showcases works from the Taos Society of Artists. The adobe building, constructed in 1933, features captivating landscapes and portraits by artists who contributed to Taos' reputation as a creative hub. Visitors can also admire the intricate wooden carvings adorning the columns, doors, and furniture, which reflect Fechin's Russian heritage combined with New Mexican influences.
I can feel the artistic impact on my non-artistic mind. The building was classic pubeloan style with the modern lime stone exterior color. The inside was completely renovated by the artist Nicolai Fechin, with so many of his own woodwork. Now his painting of mostly his family members are on the walls, his home become public art museum, the inside appliances also become a great showcase of 1930s. I love the experience.

If you’re debating between different house tours, this is probably the best in town. So worth it with 10 dollar student discount! Beautiful home with lots of paintings and furniture carved by Mr. Fechin. A little bit on the smaller side took me about 40 minutes to see.

Beautiful stop, which I’m glad we made. Such an interesting story of this wonderful artist. Definitely take your time and look at every little detail. The house, the studio, AND the property / courtyard were gorgeous.

What a discovery! A new wing with a terrific representation of Taos artists through the years. An amazingly crafted house with beautifully detailed doors and other details by Fechin. Lovely portraits through the place done by Fechin. And one of the best curated gift shops in any museum store. The store alone is worth the visit.
Bryan S — Google review
I took some friends from out of town. It was like going to four museums in one. The new wing with permanent collection of Taos artists from a century ago is superb. An exhibit of living artists opened in the annex at the very moment we were getting our admission sorted out. I think one of my friend's favorite painting was here. The Fechin House itself is a museum of the period that shouldn't be missed. The current exhibit in that area is of Fechin's portraits, some cross referenced to artists whose paintings in the new annex. And to top it all off, the grounds are a beautiful garden in the heart of Taos'es historic district.

If you’re in Taos and only have time for one museum, let this be the one. This is one of the most magical museums I’ve ever been to. The home was constructed in the. 1930s and is an amazing blend of rustic southwestern style and Russian folk art. The artist, Fechin, who constructed the home for his family, was brilliant. His paintings, sculptures and woodwork are on display throughout the house and are breathtaking. The detail in the doors, windows and furnishings is nothing like you’ll ever see anywhere else. The house is easy to go through entirely in an hour or two and there’s a lovely curated gift shop featuring many local NM artists. I’ll need to visit this museum every time I travel to NM.
Sara P — Google review
Really enjoyed the visit. I addition to Fechin, his art and life story, the architecture was especially interesting, a blend of Taos Pueblo and craftsman designs. Love seeing the studio and the peaceful, landscaped grounds. Good gift ship has a selection of Taos artisans, jewelry and art books.

Taos Clay Studio is a former filling station transformed into a contemporary ceramics showcase and workshop space. Visitors can take half-day pottery workshops with Logan Wannamaker, who fires the creations in an outside kiln. The studio also offers classes taught by Theresa, described as a supportive and intuitive teacher. In addition to pottery classes, visitors can explore the gallery/shop featuring remarkable artwork at astonishing prices.
We attended a pottery workshop while visiting Taos on vacation. The class was very fun and interesting and the instructor was not only knowledgeable but also very good at explaining and demonstrating techniques. It was one of the highlights of our trip and we would definitely recommend it.
Alica H — Google review
Avoid at all costs! We planned our vacation months out, which included a class to celebrate a family birthday. We booked and confirmed. Then on the day of the class there was no one at the studio. After multiple unanswered calls to their numbers, the owner Teresa finally texts that sorry but all the instructors left to start their own studio, and Taos Clay will be closed for 3 weeks. She apologized, but it was way too late for us to plan any other activity for the day.

Lots of fun taking the raku class. Resident artists runs the class. Had fun playing on the clay wheel as well. It's great to take a piece home with you and well. I was able to talk to some of the other artists about their work while they were there as well. I highly recommend if you want to just it out

Where do I start?? Our teacher Theresa-what a gem. Such a great teacher. She was incredibly supportive with new hubby and I with our first time "throwing"clay. Very intuitive and educational with such a calming nature. Then, you visit the gallery/shop and WOW!!! the art work here is ridiculous!!! And at an ASTOUNDING price. I'm in awe that this shop isn't written up in all design magazines. If you don't want to play with clay, visit just to shop. MUST HAVE pieces for your home or the perfect gift for any occasion. I love you Taos clay. Till we meet again.

Sabor Real Restaurante is a must-visit dining spot in Taos, NM. The restaurant offers traditional Mexican and New Mexican dishes, as well as an array of delectable pastries, cakes, and flans. Visitors rave about the flavorful aguas frescas and the mouthwatering chiles rellenos verdes.
Great local food and wonderful service. I recommend the pork tamales with green sauce and rolled tacos. Throw in a bottled Coke and some homemade chips and salsa and you’ve got yourself a good meal. The service was amazing and friendly too.

Why 3 Five Stars but 4 Stars overall? Coffee. Mine was excellent. Deb had none since she drinks decaf due to health reasons. Everything else was really very good with a presentation and preparation just unique enough to be noticed and more than good enough to be remembered. Deb had a scrambled veggie omelette and a pancake. I had huevos rancheros with green. Both dishes came with hash browns and refried beans. The hash browns were very good - not the least bit greasy but nicely browned and crispy. Eggs were cooked to order and the chili was excellent. Their menu is extensive so I’m looking forward to a return visit.
Mike J — Google review
The service was terrible. They never came near the table to ask if we needed anything like refills. They brought the food but we had to wait for utensils. After eating i wanted dessert but the waitress never came close by. She kept passing over and over. She talked and sit with her friends. We never got a ticket I had get up to request it. I left without tasting dessert and no refills. This table in front got more attention then my table.

Are you traveling to Taos? Make a stop at Sabor Real. Real authentic mexican food with a nice decor and excellent service. I recommend anything in the menu!

Service was fantastic. Good food, well prepared and quickly served. Plus they have this red taco sauce...not a thick red sauce like New Mexico is used to, this is a taco sauce, made with red chile and garlic for sure, maybe some vinegar. It is hot and tasty, and you can buy it to go in a cup. I'll be back for more, it's the best taco sauce I've ever had. Replacing Valentina Extra Hot in my house.

We had a wonderful meal here while in Taos. Delicious Burrito and Nachos. Full of flavor, juicy meats and large portion. Cantina Style atmosphere, spacious and clean. Fantastic Service and very nice staff! Highly recommend.

We stopped here for lunch one day while traveling through Taos. We had the best chicken nachos ever. Great flavor and no greasy residue. Whole beans, grilled chicken and considerable toppings. The staff was outstanding, engaging and professional. I highly recommend stopping here for good eats in a non pretentious environment.

Food was excellent and authentic but service was abhsmal. I was completely ignored; not seated at first then when tried to get the waiter's attention was twice ignored, and never met a waiter even once. Brown people got offered salsa, but I couldn't get any to save my life so it was kind of bland but still good.

Mexican restaurant
Orlando's is a vibrant Mexican eatery located in Taos, New Mexico, known for its open kitchen and colorful ambiance. The restaurant offers a variety of traditional Northern New Mexican and Mexican dishes, including enchiladas, fish tacos, and margaritas. Guests can enjoy their meals on the patio when the weather is pleasant. Orlando's is popular for its Sayulita fish tacos named after Sayulita, Mexico where the owners spend time annually.
Orlando's is a not so big or roomy place to dine but honestly, when the food is served quickly and it's good... Who cares! If you don't mind the closeness and the wait time then make your way to Orlando's. It's worth the trip and the wait. After a 50 minute wait we were finally seated. Started off with a couple of Sangria's. That was good. Afterwards the wife ordered the queso and chips. Queso was good. Our server was efficient and quick as well as pleasant and attentive. Wifey went with the Combo Plate and I chose The Smothered Shrimp Burrito. Wifey was forking her dish like as if she was digging for gold and I was busy trying not to share my meal with anyone. Our meals were on point. The posoles (they don't serve rice here) were nice and soft with good flavor. Plenty of shrimp huddled together in my burrito. Wifey just kept digging in. Then, it was dessert time. I'm a flan guy. The lady at the table next to me was enjoying a flan dish, so I asked... "How's the flan?" Her response, "oh it's good!" So you know the rest. Wifey ordered a brownie cake and I Da Flan. Capped the dinner off with dynamite sweetness and out we went into the night with big smiles and inflated waistlines. They're opened for dinner from 5 to 9 so get there no later than 4:30 if you want a seat with the first rounders or you'll have a 45 minute minimum wait time. A 5🌟 Experience!
Roy A — Google review
The service was friendly and fast. We had fish tacos and frito pie. The fish tacos were very solid ly prepared but a bit boring flavor wise. I did enjoy them and would order them again. My companion said his meal was nearly flavorless, very boring. The guacamole and salsa were good. The red chile was much better than the green chile. The iced tea was very watered down. Plenty of parking. If you eat outside it can be really nice but traffic from the road is loud.

There’s no denying that Orlando’s is a popular go-to for both locals and tourists. There was a long line waiting to be seated as the restaurant opened for the evening, and the host did a nice job of maintaining a smooth flow. Service was good, out on the packed patio, and it’s an inviting place to relax. The food is a bit average — no exceptional dishes, the night we dined there — and it doesn’t do justice to northern New Mexico’s distinct flavor profiles, despite its claim of having recipes passed down through generations. Still, it’s a fun place for a hearty meal on the northern outskirts of Taos.
Path F — Google review
Orlando’s is an absolute gem for anyone craving delicious Mexican food. The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, perfect for a casual meal or a fun night out. We tried the chicken fajitas and the Taos burger — both were exceptional! The flavors were bold, fresh, and perfectly cooked. But the real star of the show? The fries. Hands down the best fries I’ve ever had — so good that I had to order an extra side just to keep enjoying them. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area. Great service, great vibe, and even better food!
Dilorom A — Google review
We arrived before opening time, 10:30 on a rainy Saturday. 3rd to be seated yet the restaurant filled up quick. Efficient and attentive staff with water refills and finished plates cleared. We enjoyed the Grilled shrimp & relleno combo with green chile-deeelicious! and the blue corn beef tacos. The relleno is fried to a crisp, filled with ooey gooey cheese and remains crisp, not soggy. The posole is flavourful alongside the beans. The restaurant isn’t as tiny as reviewers say. One WC in the back next to the itty bitty kitchen pushing out incredible plates! Cash forward or a 2.5% credit card fee. Worth the wait & Enjoy!

While visiting Taos we stumbled across this busy little restaurant and decided to stop… so glad we did!!!!! This was a local and tourist favorite! Delicious chili relleanos!!! Would absolutely recommend and return 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

Best Mexican food in Taos. It was recommended by our campground host. I had a chimichanga, incredible! My husband had the tamales, fabulous! We also tried their avocado lime pie…awesome!

Recommended by friends on our first trip to taos. Took a few trips to make it when it was open but finally went. Got the combination plate and it was the most delicious plate of food I've had in a long time. The wait was long (~40 min) but they were serving alcohol while we waited outside by the fire pit. The wait was not bad at all once we ordered a drink and started hanging out. Hands down some of the best food in Taos.

Nestled in the lively town of Taos, Azteca Mexican Grill is a delightful spot that brings a fresh perspective to traditional Mexican comfort food. Just a stone's throw from the Plaza and adjacent to the church, this relaxed venue features an inviting terrace where you can enjoy mouthwatering dishes like Huaraches, fajitas, and ribeye infused with smoky flavors. The nachos and tacos are particularly popular, served alongside homemade chips and salsa that elevate every bite with their crispy texture.
Large portions of authentic Mexican food. The waitstaff was attentive but not intrusive. We sat in the courtyard which was very pleasant. Parking right outside in the lot is convenient. My wife recommends the white wine Sangria. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Zachi F — Google review
We sat in the patio area, but it took a while to get seated. They were pretty backed up, and it seemed a bit disorganized, so that’s the only reason we’d give 4, not 5, stars. They were very accommodating once we got seated, and our fajita plate came out within 10 minutes of ordering it. We also go the mango margherita, which is an up-charge but I think is worth it because of the nice tequila they use for it. A beautiful little garden spot with nice flowers is a nice place to eat on the patio area.

The town this restaurant is in is very cute! The restaurant has indoor and outdoor sitting. We decided to sit outside since it was very nice night. The guy who sat us down was very friendly and nice. Our waiter not so much and I don’t know why. I don’t know if it was because we arrived one hour before closing but we arrived at 8pm. She took a while to come to our table and take our order even though they weren’t busy. Our order was brought by the same guy who sat us down and then never saw our waiter until we were done eating. In my personal opinion the food was just okay.. I got the chicken fajita nachos. I also thought they were a bit pricey for just being chicken fajita nachos. My boyfriend ordered a chicken burrito but they got his order wrong. My experience at this place wasn’t very good- a bit pricey, the food is just okay and not very welcomed.

Had dinner last night at Azteca. The food was excellent! Veggie burrito, Christmas style, was loaded with perfectly grilled veggies and the beans were delicious! My wife had veggie enchiladas with Mole, which was amazing (she's from Mexico and is very particular about her Mole, she loved it) my mother-in-law had the green chile pasta, which she really enjoyed! The staff was attentive, the beers were cold, the jalapeno margarita was tasty, the service was great, and the patio is a beautiful place to hang out! Nicolas, thank you for everything!

We like this place! The courtyard is adorable and I wish we would have ate outside (it was raining a little when we got there but sunny when we left). We didn’t order drinks but the people around us had yummy looking micheladas and margaritas. The beans are delicious. Food was really good, service was okay.

Cute little joint in a cute little town. Service was great, barista helped me choose between two flavors and she was spot on. I got the pistachio rose and my wife got the iced chai with honey. I loved mine, wife didn’t care for hers but I liked it. Glad we stopped by.

I stopped in a couple of times while in Taos. I really wanted to try their Ethiopian as a pour over but they had none to try. I asked if they could, if I bought a bag of beans and they said no. The pour over I ended up with was very good but not an Ethiopian . :(. I went back for a latte and it was great!

To be fair, we stopped in for a coffee to go. The experience was pleasant enough for a crowded coffee shop. I had the Tres leches latte and ordered it because it was so unique. It did not disappoint. Nice flavors not too sweet. My daughter ordered lavender latte with honey and it also was delightful.

I loved this coffeeshop! I was pleasantly surprised to find out they had a vegan burrito made with tofu scramble—was absolutely delicious and filling. Their coffees were great too! The mole mocha was less sweet than the el tigre mocha, and I preferred that. The place is always full of locals meeting up and having conversations, such a lovely environment. The two baristas were also very kind and great at their job.
