Barbecue restaurant
Restaurant
Black Dog Smoke & Ale House is a popular BBQ spot located near the University of Illinois campus in downtown Urbana, IL. Housed in a restored train depot, it offers delicious ribs, brisket, and burgers paired with craft beers. The restaurant also boasts a brick four-season porch for outdoor dining with open air from large windows and radiant heating units to keep guests warm on chilly nights.
The best brisket we have ever had. It was moist and full of flavor. I also had some delicious fried sweet potatoes. The Mac and Cheese was typical as were the BBQ beans. Great selection of draft beers. Friendly servers and a great atmosphere that is located in an old train station. They had some outdoor seating as well. I want to come back and try their other selections now.

Excellent meats and sides, especially the Twice Baked Potato Casserole. I tried the Georgia Peach and Texas sauce. Both were ok, nothing special about them. Food came out very quick but server never checked back until it was time to pay.

Love it when you just open Google Maps and find a great place to eat. Black Dog is one of those places. Great food and drinks. I ordered a Coco Sunrise that came with coconut liqueur, and Hubby ordered an Oscar's Old Fashioned. Both were very tasty. We shared the Blackdog Cornbread that comes with pulled pork mixed into the batter and the 3 meat combo (chicken, burnt ends, and smoked catfish) along with a sweet potato and green beans with tomatoes. All we can say is, WOW! So delicious and meats were so moist. We really enjoyed talking with our server.

We were really looking forward to trying Black Dog BBQ in Champaign, but unfortunately, it was a huge letdown. The staff who served us were friendly and attentive, but the food itself was very disappointing. We ordered the two-meat combo (brisket and pulled pork) with mac & cheese and twice-stuffed baked potatoes, along with a side of beef ribs. I was so excited to dig in since we love trying different BBQ joints, but everything lacked flavor. There was no seasoning, no smokiness, not even basic salt—it was shockingly bland for BBQ. The ribs, brisket, and pork all tasted the same: plain and underwhelming. Even the sides didn’t stand out. This was honestly one of the most flavorless BBQ meals I’ve ever had. Really disappointed, especially given how much we enjoy good BBQ elsewhere.

This is an awesome establishment in the Champaign/Urbana area. In regards to the amount of access one could have for BBQ, this is one of the best you'll find given the area. The servings are proper large and you get a really nice bang for your buck. The service was great and the staff was friendly which goes a very long way for me.
Steven C — Google review
This is a very nice location. The food was good and exactly what I was expecting. The meat was nicely smoked and the sauces were good but had some room to improve. A great place to satisfy the BBQ craving.
Jerry R — Google review
The smoked Jackfruit was really good, I really wish there was a more traditional BBQ sauce that I could have as a vegan. I tried the Lexington dip and Carolina vinegar, which didn't really do it for me. The sweet potato fries were the best I've had. The Texas Caviar was also great.
Sara C — Google review
The food wasnt good At all honestly. The restaurant it self is very cute and charming. The staff were very nice and helpful our server did a great job. But the food on a Sunday afternoon was terrible. Brisket was DRY DRY the rib tips were decent. The brisket queso didnt have even a smidge of flavor to it. The bloody mary was the worst one I've ever had. Only really good thing were the fries

The Virginia Theatre, located in Champaign, Illinois, is a historic and opulent movie house that opened in 1921. With its extravagant Renaissance Revival facade and Spanish Revival decor, it serves as both a movie theater and performing arts venue. The theater hosts a variety of events including live music concerts, stage productions, film screenings, talks by cultural figures, and dance performances.
Wonderful classic style theater over 100 years old! Character and class!!! We saw a showing of JAWS there - spectacular!

A classic small theater. Every seat is close enough to the stage. Seats are cushioned, comfy, but not very wide. We were near the back on the main floor, sound was very loud. Great view. Serves popcorn and drinks which you can take into the theater. No line for bathroom, that's always nice. Staff is nice, also quite fast at getting people in. There is a bag check, so be prepared, and arrive early folks, not cool to interrupt other patrons by seating late.
Kimberly A — Google review
This theater is magnificent. Well trained staff and their volunteers are warm, friendly and a great asset to this magnificent structure creating an experience like no other. This well managed theater is very clean, seats were comfortable and in good condition. The balcony and orchestra pit are all very nice. Lots of free parking and handicap accessible entrance. I'll be back very soon. Thank you for the great experience!

The Virginia is a gem. We're so lucky to have it in our community. The staff are excellent. The programming vibrant and exciting. We can't recommend it highly enough.

Absolutely beautiful theater! I was late and had a 7 minute walk to the venue because I didnt know where to park, the staff was super sweet and understanding and helped me find the bathrooms and my seat. Phenomenal show, so very happy I got to see it! Thank you!

I have always had a nice experience here. The single toilets are a nice touch, I hate using a bathroom in a crowded place. Good acoustics. The seats are a bit hard on your back side, I think it's because they are original to the theater. Staff is always friendly and prices for shows and movies are always at a good fair price.

Golden Harbor Authentic Chinese Cuisine in Champaign offers a family-friendly dining experience with an extensive menu available in both translated and Chinese languages. The restaurant is highly recommended for its traditional fare, including crispy tofu and pork belly buns. Diners can enjoy a wide variety of dishes such as salt & pepper chicken, Cantonese sausage fried rice, garlic green beans, dry 7 spices chicken, and more. The restaurant also boasts a huge vegan and vegetarian menu alongside meat and fish options.
One of the best Chinese spots in Champaign, with a massive menu that covers just about every flavor profile and protein you could want. We had the pork belly with bamboo shoots, lamb with tofu skin, crispy tofu, and squid stir fry, and everything was consistently flavorful and comforting. I also appreciate the upfront ordering and self-serve setup for utensils and tea. A campus favorite I’ll keep coming back to whenever I’m in town.

Having a trip to the US, I was so in the mood for General Two Chicken. Sorry, not exciting, I know. But, after checking around places in the Urbana area, I found the GenTso picture on their website looked legit. It turned out they have two kinds of GenTso. Chinese style and American style. Many of the other dishes on the menu looked good too. I settled for the Chinese style. I added the Taiwanese Fried Chicken, the Mala Fish Boiled and Pork Bun. Yeah, that was too much. The portion was huge. The GenTso delivered! It was pretty good. Not too sweet, not too gingery, not too spicy, and extra crispy. Add the chilly oil, kaboom!!! The Taiwanese style chicken was pretty good too. The boiled fish by itself was bland. It's nice and flaky though. But if you eat it together with the pickled vegetables and bean sprouts, they give the needed flavor and texture. I haven't tried the bun yet. There was too much food. So, food wise, easily a 4-star. I may try other dishes and bump it. It was that good. Is it really a 5-star? For a American style Chinese Restaurant,... Yesses... It is way better than most Chinese takeout. It's self service, so I'm not going to give it a two for that.
Sagita S — Google review
Well if you want Chinese food you will definitely get it. I would not say it is the best Chinese food I’ve had… or even the most decent. Everything is self-service which is completely fine if not more streamlined (ordering, getting water, getting menus). But food is delivered by a waiter so that is good! Server was very nice and service was very quick even when busy, our food came out in less than 15 minutes (and we ordered a lot). I will say to use the ‘Americanized’ menu if you are not familiar with Chinese cuisine, then the Taiwanese menu, and lastly if you are adventurous try the attempt the read the 1000 item Authentic menu. RECOMMEND FOR BIG PARTIES: Order $120+ (pretax) for a free entree The food were all mostly meh, with a few outliers: the king mushroom dish, triple chicken dish, and the sweet pork-chop. Everything else was quite oily, lacking in salt, or flavorless. DO NOT order the wonton soup, unless you want a bowl of hot water.
Andy L — Google review
The golden harbor dine-in ordering process is so convenient! They have multiple different menu options for their multitude of dishes. You just write the dish #s on a notepad and bring the paper to the register once ready. They charged upfront for the meal and $1.50 cleaning service fee/person and no other tip costs. The utensils and water and tea is self-serve. Additionally, to-go boxes and bags readily available. The crispy Szechuan fish filet was delicious! It still tasted good even a day later with no fishiness. The signature dish crispy tofu was so hot and crispy when it came out! The sauce was delicious. You definitely want to eat this all in one sitting otherwise it will get soggy. I also ordered one lunch menu for general tso’s which had this gamey chicken taste that I particularly am sensitive to. I probably will not order that again, but the sauce was good. Overall, super big portion sizes and delicious flavors. Would come again!

One of the best Chinese places in town. They have a million options for meals for you to order. They make your orders at lightning speed!!!! The staff here are very nice. The portion here is very massive!!!! The atmosphere is very Chinese. It also comes with oolong tea and jasmine tea you can drink with no cost. Overall, this place is very good!!!!

decent option for authentic chinese food. felt that the dishes were a bit overpriced but they didn’t require any tip. just a $1.75/person cleaning fee, and utensils/napkins/water were all self-serve. we had the kung-pao chicken, green beans w/ bean curd paste, prawns, and beef belly w/ mala sauce. the kung-pao chicken was definitely my favorite.
Kayleigh — Google review
Perhaps my expectations were too high and the menu was truly impressive, but in the end the quality of the food was only OK. The service was pretty fast and I liked the fact that you could get your own tea, etc. but one dish was a little cold, another had beef that was a little overcooked and tough. Not bad, just not great. Go here for some authentic dishes, but moderate your expectations.
Brian T — Google review
My absolute favorite Chinese restaurant in town. Most of the tables are set up for large groups and families, so it's an excellent place to bring people. The 3 menus have something on them for everyone, and there's an entire wall of additional options. The food comes out insanely fast even when they're packed. I don't think I've ever waited any more than 10 minutes from ordering to getting food. And of course, the food itself is incredible. The crispy tofu is the best!

Illini Union, located at the University of Illinois at Champagne, is a vibrant student hub offering various attractions such as art displays, dining options, shops, sports screenings, and a wide range of student activities and events. The architecture boasts rich wood paneling and historical displays throughout the building. Visitors can also find a hotel on-site along with amenities like a bowling alley in the basement.
Right at the center of campus. There's always people at the quad vibing, hanging out or just on their way to class. Best times are spring and summer when the students pull up to just soak in the sun. Frisbee is a big thing on the quad. The union also is very entertaining. There's a cafeteria in the basement for food and upstairs there's a bunch of things to do for entertainment. There's always seminars or movie nights . The quad views during the winter also very nice, very picturesque

As a Florida State University student, I can tell you that it’s a good place. But not as cool as FSU Student Union. It has a vintage vibe and pretty cool place to chill. But I doubt it would crowded when classes are going on. It was great visiting this place.

The heart of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Has a lot of amenities, even a bowling alley in the basement. I think the upper floor rooms are for private use made with reservations, but there’s even a hotel inside the building. Pretty impressive union compared to some school’s I saw.

Really need building, the temperature inside is just way way to hot for me to withstand. When I'm sitting inside the union reading, or whatever, I swear and become really really cautious and feel symptoms of heat exhaustion, until I'm able to step outside and get some air. Makes you just want to open a window or something it's so hot and musty. Very cool place though, I love that it's an older building. The build quality is so much better than the newer buildings.

Great Place for resting if you're homeless.. My ONLY problem is that they don't have any couches or ottomans so you can actually put your feet up and lay back. I was reading some people's reviews about all of the other amenities and honestly I am very much so impressed. I will visit those places inside of the UIUC one of these days. I am currently attending parkland college & I know I will need somewhere to study. Hopefully by then they have a better place for studying in the common area or something. BUT Overall... I would rate it a 10/10 it only has 4 stars instead of 5 because of the resting area.. most of us are moms/single moms (me included) who work and go to school so much needed rest time in between classes and before i have to get the kids is WELL NEEDED!

The cacaphonies will caress your very bones!! The halls are breathtaking!! the director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra once whispered that the acoustics here were superior to their hometown hall! Just saw Josh Johnson live! Seeing an outstanding performer on stage vs. on YouTube is like seeing a painting in a museum vs. watching the artist create a masterpiece right before your eyes. This holds true of this young standup comic, who is well on the way of joining comedy legends Redd Foxx, Richard Pryor, Flip Wilson, and Eddie Murphy. All groundbreaking comedians in their own right, all having broken barriers for up and coming artists.

World class performances! Fantastic architecture with world class auditoriums providing comfort as well as excellent audience experience. Tickets are affordable and there isn't a bad seat in the house. Free performances are very popular and provide a great way for people to enjoy themselves at no cost. This is a local treasure! I wish more folks from the larger community would take an opportunity to experience it.

Huge space. The venue is pretty cool! There is free parking on the surrounding streets after 6pm. It's definitely a college town with lots of restaurants around that serve a variety of foods but don't have a lot of atmosphere. The Krannert theater itself is really big. Lots of levels and side balcony seating. It felt clean and bright, and very accessible. There is odd seating behind the stage. We enjoyed a good show, though it was a late start due to a security check they had everyone go through. One of the volunteers told me that they hadn't done security like that before so they had misjudged the start time. I trust they will figure that out.

I was in UIUC to see off my Nephew. The university campus is humongous . The college buildings are awesome , transport system within the university is great(sometimes it takes a long time), there are dedicated bike lanes and accessibility access almost all places they boast the biggest engineering library . The orientation program was good and informative, people seem efficient and I am sure teaching staff is also great There are quite a few frat houses and student quarters around the university The restaurant selection is great and the university also has multiple on campus food court, and surprisingly have a lot of good vegetarian options as well Students who really want to learn well can do wonders. Great place to study and enjoy

As a parent, it’s that time when we help our children make decisions about the next phase of their lives. For me, sending my child off to college at UIUC was one of the most emotional moments. On the first day, I couldn’t help but cry as I left her on campus, much like I did when I dropped her off at kindergarten. The feeling of letting go is never easy, but looking back, I can say with certainty that UIUC was a wonderful choice for her. From the very beginning, the campus and community have offered incredible support and opportunities. The professors and lecturers are amazing—engaging and truly invested in their students’ success. There’s always academic help available, whether it’s through tutoring, office hours, or student groups that offer additional support. I was always impressed by how approachable and willing the faculty were to help students succeed. What stands out most, though, is the sense of safety and care on campus. There’s always someone available to help, even late at night, whether you’re walking around and need assistance or have a concern. UIUC truly seems committed to the well-being of all its students. For those of you wondering about religious and cultural connections, there is a Hindu temple just 10 minutes away from campus, providing a sense of community and belonging for students who want that connection. To other parents considering sending their child to UIUC, I want to assure you—it’s a fantastic campus. Don’t worry. The support, education, and experiences your child will have are priceless. You can rest easy knowing they’re in good hands!

It's ok. Campus is very large and seemed like it needed a lot of work. I understand that it's an old university, but with all of the graffiti, seemed like we were walking around Dailey college in the city. Felt very unsafe. We had a tour and intro for the college for possible incoming Freshman, and we has to park on the street and pay rather than park in the parking lot (for staff only) that was right behind the place where the presentation was being held. And, the lot was practically empty. We asked about where we could eat lunch on campus, and the tour guide told us the eat at the dining hall, so we did. $14 per person later we found out that 95% of the food options were not available/closed. So we had options of veggie burgers, turkey corn dogs, and pizza that was worse than frozen pizza. They say that you experience the Freshman 15 and gain 15 pounds, but with these limited food options it seems like you won't have a problem with that. Send your kid here instead of fat camp to lose weight. Poorly run Freshman presentation and amenities. Tuition is very high even for in state students.

Let’s call it like it is: UIUC doesn’t just compete — it dominates. In engineering, computer science, agriculture, and business, it’s a national powerhouse with global reach. This is where Fortune 500 recruiters go hunting, where innovation is the baseline, not the goal. You don’t just attend Illinois — you level up there. UIUC is for the builders. The doers. The ones who don’t just dream — they design, calculate, code, and deliver. It’s home to Nobel laureates, Turing Award winners, and world-changing startups. The Grainger College of Engineering alone outpaces entire universities. The Gies College of Business? Modern, aggressive, and built for the real world. Let’s not kid ourselves: UC Davis can’t touch that. UC Davis sells itself as laid-back excellence. But in reality? It’s a fog of overhype. It talks the talk but limps through the walk. Underwhelming outcomes, lackluster academic energy, and a culture that discourages edge or initiative. You don’t get sharpened — you get smoothed out, filed down, and boxed in. Meanwhile, UIUC puts steel in your spine. You’re surrounded by peers who bring the heat, professors who challenge you to produce, not just parrot, and opportunities that actually lead somewhere. Want to intern at Tesla, Amazon, or Google? That pipeline runs right through Champaign-Urbana. The ROI? Massive. UIUC consistently ranks among the top public schools for return on investment, and grads don’t just find jobs — they’re recruited. In tech, finance, engineering, and research, the UIUC name carries real weight. UC Davis? A shrug, at best. And let’s be honest — the Midwest may not have California’s zip code, but it has grit, affordability, and focus. No fluff, no flash — just results. At UIUC, you’re not just another number crammed into a lecture hall. You’re a talent investment — and it shows. So here’s the truth: UIUC gives you tools. UC Davis gives you traffic and bureaucracy. UIUC builds leaders. UC Davis breeds compliance. Choose fire over fog. Choose Illinois…

Visited for a quiz bowl competition but almost all sidewalks were coated in ice which made it quite treacherous to walk anywhere. Seems a northern school would take more care in winter safety. Other than that it was pretty interesting with the old style architecture compared to my university.

Very disappointed with this location. The service, staff, and food quality are absolutely terrible. I ordered online 20 minutes before arriving, yet still had to wait another 39 minutes in the store while watching people who came after me get served first. When I asked, I was told “just a few more minutes” with no concern or apology. The staff here are rude, disrespectful, and completely unprofessional. When I finally got the pizza home, it wasn’t even warm and was not fully baked. This is unacceptable and shows they don’t care about customers at all. Sadly, this is not my first bad experience here — long waits and unprofessional service seem to be the norm. Never again. I will not be returning to this location, and I strongly recommend others avoid it as well.

We always have issues at this location. Deliveries are always very late and we have received the wrong pizzas. Our most recent carry out order was 30 minutes late.

This is a great location if you're looking for good quality pizza. Every time I get pizza here, its like it was made just to my specific tastes. Since they're so good, there's sometimes a wait but the managers, especially the evening manager, are really understanding and do what they can to make sure you're happy with your order. If you don't know what to get, ask them their favorite. I've never had a bad recommendation from this location. Highly recommended!

CU has many pizza places and styles to choose from. Everyone has their favorite, but this one is mine. Food: 5 Stars. Okay I am not here to start a debate on what type of pizza is best but this place is 5 stars mainly because I grew up on homemade fresh bread and that fragrant smell and taste of fresh yeast in my bread is a staple I cannot live without. The Detriot style fresh bread Pizza served by Jet's is my favorite in the CU Area. Make it a Turbo crust and lets go! Service: 5 Stars. Great Pizza, good people. Always a great experience when coming to pick up my pie! I cannot comment on Delivery as I always pick it up in person. I have no complaints. Atmosphere: 4 Stars. They give you a huge window to see the pizza making process from start to finish, but their seating/eating area is really aimed at just for pick up. While the option for more seating would be nice its just a minor detail that does not detract from the amazing pizza at all.

Good service and hot fresh pizza! What more could i ask for from Detroit deep dish

As a UofI alumnus, I am glad to see that this pizza spot is still open. I've been staying in Champaign for the past 3 days and had to get a slice of pizza from here. The cheese slice is delicious: tasty and perfectly crispy. I missed it so much.

Pizza restaurant
Manolo's Pizza & Empanadas is a popular spot in Urbana, located near Canopy Club. It offers a variety of creative empanadas and pizzas, including options with vegetarian meat substitutes. The restaurant is known for its New York style pizza and gourmet massive slices, making it the go-to place on campus for delicious pizza. In addition to their pizza offerings, Manolo's also serves an array of empanadas in various flavors that are sure to delight your taste buds.
Vibes are great at this place! Feels like a shop in New York City. I had a Modena chicken slice and it was crispy, saucy and flavorful. One of the best pizza places on campus, definitely give it a try!
Dishan G — Google review
I’ve had a lot of NY style pizza and this was one of the best ever!! Perfect blend of cheese, crust, sauce and seasoning! The empanadas were pretty good too.

Most of the empanadas were DELICIOUS. I loved the potato and cheese one the best and found the mushroom one to be the most interesting. Unfortunately both the chicken and beef one I tired were dry and lacking some flavor. My kid loved the pizza. I found the sauce to be too sweet but I'm not a huge pizza sauce person anyway. There is only a few stools inside and a few chairs outside so likely better to plan to take out.
Rachel L — Google review
Well made thin crust, New York style pizzas. This is more of a guilty pleasure as the price is a little high for what I feel comfortable paying for a pizza, but it's worth it for how delicious they come out. They have a wide variety of toppings to choose from (almost too many), so there's sure to be something you'll enjoy. You can order online and even choose to split each half with different toppings. I recommend trying the Manolo's Mushroom and Spotted Goat. Parking can be difficult as it is located downtown.
Piet — Google review
Just a couple of stools for dine in, but the pizza and enpanadas are absolutely on point here. The goat and bbq meat slices are top notch.

I visited to get an empanada, but I couldn't resist their awesome looking pizza slice. Good service, price, and amazing food. But it's a pretty small place even though there are some more places to sit outside, so better to pick up and have it somewhere else. Best pizza place in campus definitely!

The hotel I was at recommended this place and it did not disappoint! Just got a salad and the pepperoni pizza and I loved every bite.
Jason B — Google review
Small unassuming take out shop that has the best NY style pizza in central IL. The crust makes or breaks a pizza. It’s perfectly charred, making it semi crispy and semi soft.

The Himalayan Chimney is a contemporary restaurant located on vibrant Church St, offering familiar Indian dishes such as samosas, biryani, tandoori, and curry. The elegant interiors with Indian God/Goddess statues and fire lamps create an authentic feel. The restaurant serves authentic Indian flavors with the perfect combination of spices and fresh ingredients. Customers appreciate the delicious cuisine, excellent variety of choices, consistent quality of food, and good service. Some feedback includes a recommendation for cleaner bathrooms.
Nice ambience, great food. Menu is diverse, never found a Jackfruit dish in US. Really like to appreciate the gesture of the chef, we ordered chicken appetizer for our 5 year old and told them to keep it mild but it came off little hot so our daughter wasn’t eating. The chef came up and offered to prepare malai chicken for her. It was delicious and our daughter finished it. Definitely coming back.

We ordered Veg fried Momos, jackfruit biryani and aloo paratha. Jackfruit (raw) biryani was tasty with a spicy and sour flavor. It had plenty of Jackfruit pieces that were perfectly cooked. Fried Momos were good. Aloo paratha had very little stuffing and was more like roti. They also have some items on their menu which are not available in other restaurants in Champaign like mehi matar malai, Lasooni Gobi, Avocado Jhalmuri, Jackfruit Biryani. Some of the food items can be made Vegan on request and are clearly marked on the menu. The staff are friendly. The atmosphere is nice. Miscellaneous: Restrooms are not very clean.

Loved the food, nice ambience, our waitresses were extremely helpful. We reached at the last moment before they were closing, however, they were very accommodating. Thank you for your service.

This was our first meal there. I do not recommend the bone in goat meat dish. I won't have it again. There's far too much bone, limited meat, and too much gristle and fat. The sauce it came with, however, was SPECTACULAR. That said, my wife had the cubed lamb in cashew sauce, and it was EXCELLENT. The calamari appetizer was really good, and I'm not a fan of calamari. This was very tender.

This place is great! Food was amazing and fairly priced. I don’t think our waters ever got below half full, and there was someone checking on us every few minutes or so. Great service and kind people. Highly recommend!

Great I had a fantastic experience at this Nepalese/Indian restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious — full of rich, authentic flavors and perfectly spiced. Every dish we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout our meal, making the entire dining experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this place to anyone craving quality Nepalese/Indian cuisine. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Atmosphere and service was really good but food was not good and since assume food place people go to eat there I ordered the shrimp and it was more of like gravy ship instead of dried shrimp. I also ordered Pesto Naan it was just a normal night. With pesto smothered all over it the shrimp was oily. Only thing I found OK there was okra vegetable that I ordered with a roti protein was very cold too
YASH M — Google review
The Server, although sweet, must've been very distracted because she mixed up instructions on the tickets, which was supposed to be two (they brought us one and charged each paying customer for the opposite customer's food). Anyway, my food might have tasted good to me if the Server had told the chef the right meal to add hot spices to. I started coughing and could not eat my food while my eyes and nose watered. I ended up eating another person's food at our table, which was quite delicious to me, but was supposed to be spicey. When we told the Server of the mistakes, she just said she was sorry and walked away. The bathroom seemed sketchy, with holes in the wall and screws for hot and cold handles on the lavatory. On a good note, the bathroom was clean. Also, if you want to eat there, be sure to bring enough money/coins for parking. The Server, trying hard, just didn't seem to understand that I needed enough change for two cars and kept trying to give me one dollar bills back for change instead of coins for the meter. The decor was quite nice. I don't think this is good enough to encourage me to return. I had such high hopes. DASHED!

Steak house
Nestled in a charming building dating back to the 1880s, Hamilton Walker's is a sophisticated American steakhouse that exudes a retro charm. This downtown Champaign gem is not just about its stylish ambiance; it also boasts an impressive menu featuring premium aged meats, fresh seafood, and delectable macaroni dishes.
My experience at Hamilton Walkers was absolutely fantastic! From the moment I walked in, the customer service was outstanding—attentive, caring, and made me feel like a VIP. The environment has a unique throwback vibe that’s both classy and inviting. For starters, the bacon-wrapped dates were incredible—perfectly balanced flavors and cooked to perfection. For the main course, I ordered the aged steak burger cooked medium-rare with steak fries, and wow—just wow! The burger was juicy, flavorful, and truly unforgettable. It was my first time dining here, and sitting in a booth added to the charm. I felt like a high-profile guest, and the staff really made the experience special. I highly recommend Hamilton Walkers for anyone looking for great food, excellent service, and a unique dining atmosphere! Even though this was a few years ago (March’23) I look forward to coming back soon!

We have been to Hamilton Walkers several times. It is a great place to visit when my parents are in town, and we want to have a nice dinner. Great drinks and the salads are a great starter. Our most recent visit, however, the steaks tasted like they were lower quality. They looked more grey and less brown. It was chewier and just did not have the same great taste that I have come to know from a Hamilton Walkers steak. I am hoping it was merely a bad night, and not lower quality beef. If it was lower quality beef, then it was not worth the cost. I wish to not make assumptions though and give Hamilton Walkers the benefit of the doubt because every prior visit the food was spectacular.

This is a amazing steak house. They have a very nice selection of drinks you can try. Variation of steak and seafood you can order. I really like all my stuff I ordered here. The price is in the upper side. The service is very good. The staff here are very helpful and informative. The atmosphere is very classy. I really enjoyed it here.

Sweet red was tasteful & drinks poured heavy. Crab cakes was absolutely delicious. Salad wad good how ever the ranch was over powered with dill. Bread & butter were good! Bone in ribeye was over cooked and under seasoned. Manager offered to re-cook but we were not interested as the steak was so bland. Mac n cheese was under cooked. Service was great.

Delicious Food, very good service, nice decor and vibe inside, very clean, and very attentive staff. Best mashed potatoes I’ve ever had and steak was cooked perfectly and had a nice crust.

Food, drinks, and service were all okay — overall decent. I’d come back, but not for the value. When a place markets itself as exclusive fine dining, you expect more than standard service. Notable issues: • No cutlery or napkin with the appetizer; had to eat it with my fingers. • Dessert menu was handed out, but no one came back to take the order. Bottom line: Good, but not quite fine dining as advertised — especially for the price point.

I had a wonderful time celebrating my 13th anniversary with my husband. Katie our server was awesome since it was our 1st time dining there she explained the menu to us and gave us recommendations that were spot on.

Celebrated my graduation dinner here. Our server was very nice and the food was phenomenal. Not a long wait for table or the food. Generous portions. Upscale, chic environment. Fancy night out in Champaign!
