Pereybere in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Pereybere, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Pereybere is known for its sheltered turquoise lagoon and gently sloping beach, making it one of Mauritius’ best spots for safe swimming and casual snorkeling right off the shore. The small resort village has a relaxed, local feel, with food stalls and restaurants serving fresh seafood and Mauritian street snacks along the coastal road. It sits just a short drive from busy Grand Baie, so visitors can easily combine quiet beach time with shopping, nightlife and boat excursions to nearby islands.
With favorites like Le Pescatore, Super U Grand Bay, and Sauterelle Restaurant, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Red Restaurant and Grill & Chill so you can get the best taste of Pereybere while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Shopping mall
Shopping
La Croisette is a vast shopping center with a luxurious atmosphere that boasts an abundance of stores for an enjoyable shopping experience. The mall features modern architecture and abundant natural light. It is spacious and inviting, making it ideal for relaxation and socializing. Children will appreciate the dedicated play areas provided within the mall, while two supermarkets - one of which is Intermart, the largest - ensure convenience when grocery shopping.
Nice mall with nice vibe. The shops mix is good. Hyper market and food court in the location
Yousef A — Google review
La Croisette is a decent shopping centre, but it’s not very family-friendly. There isn’t much for kids to do, which can make visits challenging for families. The prices across stores are quite high, and the shopping options are dominated by clothing stores, leaving little variety. However, the food court is a highlight, offering a good selection of eateries with a pleasant atmosphere. Overall, it’s a nice place to visit if you’re focused on shopping or dining, but it could benefit from more affordable options and activities for children.
Annalize — Google review
Nice mall with great variety of foods to chose from in the big food court. Tables are very clean and you can never see a fly near you as it smells good every where you go and there are fans so you are never sweating. But overall it is very pleasant to walk around and many activities are available to do.
Naisha A — Google review
Not lots to do, food court great variety to choose from. Mostly for tourists again. Was convenient to get to from where we stayed in the North. Taxi and busses available all the time. Spacious mall.
Venothan M — Google review
It's a really big mall with a lot of shops. It is capable of giving a good shopping experience. The architecture of the mall is nice and cool. It has a modern touch. The mall is very spacious so it's a good place to hangout and relax. There is a wide area for kids to play so they are going to love this place. There are two supermarkets in the mall in which Intermart is the biggest i think. There are some restaurants and a food court which cook different varieties of foods of different countries! There is a theatre also in the mall. Parking is available.
Arya — Google review
Our favourite shopping/eating out place to visit during our holiday 🇲🇺 Has a very open feel to it and a lovely vibe. Also has a selection of stores as well as a well sized food court (majority of eateries are halal 😄)! Also has a cinema and plenty of parking. The Intermart is worthwhile shopping at if you are on holiday to get all your drinks and snacks at a very decent price.
Mohbeen D — Google review
Though there are lots of people during the weekend since it's school holidays, still Love the vibes and restos!! Nice place for family time, chillax with friends or do shopping. You can check out the animal shop there. They have puppies to adopt from time to time. The garden is so cool. Always renovating and well maintained!

Free underground parking. Recycle bins in one corner of the carpark for all types of recyclables. Lots of shops and a bank. 5ru coin needed for big shopping trolley. V helpful staff in the InterMart.

Shopping mall
Mont Choisy Shopping Mall is a contemporary establishment that presents an extensive selection of stores for fashion enthusiasts to discover, including Zara, Mango, and H&M. It is a superb shopping complex housing numerous shops, a supermarket, and ample parking amenities. Furthermore, it is renowned for being the ideal destination for Saturday night dining with its late operating hours until 10:30 pm.
We only visited Luigi's Italian restaurant here and it was superb! Owner greets and talks to you, food fantastic especially all the gluten free options!
Julie D — Google review
It's a small mall with limited facilities. It locates in a very noticeable spot near to the circle. It provides ample parking in front of the mall. The mall is kept clean and well maintained. On special occasions they do decorations as well. The main attractions of this mall are the London way super market and the restaurants. Other than these, the mall has nothing special / attractive . So we can expect less crowded here.
Arya — Google review
Nice mall in the north, you will find all the stuff you need.Food outlets are nice. The plus is that it's not overcrowded like the other malls in the vicinity and you can actually enjoy doing groceries.☺️☺️

Lovely mall. The food prices, especially meat, is much more expensive than Save U for instance. Very convenient and ample free parking. Worth a visit.
Anel F — Google review
Well maintained place. You get many items at London Way supermarket which you won't find at other places. The little food corner inside the supermarket also serves delicious food. You can go to this mall to get healthy foods at Neo Foods.

Very bad MALL, very untidy, dirt everywhere, windows are dirty, parking are small, their camera cctv doesn't work. When it's rainy, water is everywhere, they don't have a proper bus stop. The CEO is very Rude, and they have very bad selection of shops, they canceled contract of good shops and selected the worst ones.. PLZ NEVER OPEN A BUSINESS IN MONT CHOISY MALL, THEY DON'T RENEW CONTRACT AFTER YOU GOT YOUR CLIENTS, YOU WILL HAVE TO CLOSE DOWN. The CEO and the management are very bad, CEO of Mont Choisy mall is not approachable, and doesn't help tenants in any issue of the mall. The CEO just sit in the office and does nothing about complaints etc.. They just change shops and shops unnecessarily. They are very badly organized... It's really disgusting to be in the Mall.

Best shopping store ive been to safe, you get everything in one place, most products available in wide variety.. Opens till late wich renders it suitable for people busy..

This casino is by far the worst casino for poker. What makes is terrible is 2 things. Absolutly worthless florman which cannot even confirm a reservation or answer a message. He would reply for a few messages but later will ignore your followup questions. See attached history chat. Once i made a reservation he didnt confirm and when i came it was there but not for the table i ordered so i left. Time wasted, is that really that hard to answer or confirm a reservation? Second thing the tables. I have never seen such filthy and old tables. Its a casino, they make money on cash tables, how can they be like this? The chips are so sticky when u lift them they stick together like overcooked pasta. They have only 2 tables for cash that are normal hight. The rest of the tables when there are more people are like bar stools and my back was killing me after 2 hours. Most casinoes have their best tables for the cash games with better chairs and usb chargers… not here. Yet they have super new tables for tournaments. 😳 Playerswise its not bad. Alot of bad local players who just gamble. Money changes hands quick. Some tourists on vacation making it rain. On a good night u could forget all the negative. The dealers count the pot for rakes after showdown which i find crazy. Normaly they count in their head mid game. This make the hands longer…
Gen E — Google review
I came out to Mauritius specifically for their African Series Of Poker event, a festival they appear to be holding in various guises some 2-3 times each year. The event itself was well run though there’s a few unusual practices I’ve never seen anywhere else in the world at poker events. There’s around 20 tables so they can cope with a reasonable amount of players too. But most importantly the dealers knew what they were doing and didn’t get flustered (apart from one solitary incident), the floor managers were accurate in decisions, the service staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was very good quality and relatively cheap. The other players were mostly quite friendly and quick to give advice regarding things to do/see in Mauritius and seemed surprised that I had flown here from England just for the poker event. All in all I’d recommend coming out here for any ASOP event in the future if you want to combine poker with a beautiful island holiday. I believe they also hold events on the nearby Reunion island too but I can’t seem to find information on that.

Supermarket
Super U Grand Bay is a fantastic shopping destination located in the bustling heart of Grand Baie, Mauritius. This spacious supermarket offers an impressive selection of products, from groceries to clothing and even tech supplies, making it a one-stop shop for all your needs. While some shoppers have experienced delays with membership cards, the friendly staff are always ready to assist you during your visit.
This is one of the best supermarkets in Mauritius, especially in the north. Surrounded by expats and tourists, it offers a huge variety of products — even things you won’t find in other supermarkets here. There’s a full aisle just for different types of water, which shows how diverse the selection is. I’m not sure if it’s more expensive than others, but it’s definitely not the cheapest. That said, the overall experience is great. The place feels safe and clean, with shops on both floors and even a small park where kids can play. Best of all, there’s always free parking available and plenty of space, so no hassle at all. Highly recommended for both locals and visitors!

Very large supermarket, with an extensive range of supplies and other household sundries . Only major concern is the queuing time at checkouts . One basket of shopping took just over 45 minutes to reach the checkout assistant.
John C — Google review
You can buy many daily necessities here at reasonable prices. 👍 The queues are disorganized, but luckily there are automatic cash registers! Toilets need to be cleaned more😔
SOFIA C — Google review
Our favourite supermarket brand in Mauritius. Very big and with lot of stock. Prices are average and they have quite a lot of offers. Great to buy souvenirs like rum, sugar, tea or vanilla pods and much cheaper than any souvenir shop. Big free parking lot and long opening hours.
Inmaculada D — Google review
This place seems to get bigger every time you visit. We discovered an entire aisle dedicated to soap, then the aquatic area and then an entire space for drinks that we’d missed on the previous three visits. You can buy pretty much anything here, from fresh food to waterproof sea shoes. Buy some gateau piment on the way in to stop the hunger pangs as you shop!

Super U Grand Baie is a one-stop destination for shopping in the north of Mauritius. The supermarket is spacious, well-organized, and stocked with a wide variety of groceries, fresh produce, bakery items, and household essentials. Prices are reasonable, and the quality is consistently good. Beyond the supermarket, the complex also has clothing stores, electronics shops, a food court, and small boutiques, making it convenient to shop for more than just groceries. Parking is ample, and the location is central in Grand Baie. Whether you’re a tourist looking to stock up during your stay or a local doing your regular shopping, Super U Grand Baie is a reliable and convenient choice.
Ashish K — Google review
The vast supermarket..situated on the ground floor of the Coeur de Villle shopping center, Grand Baie. Generally, Super U offers a membership card for the shoppers and buyers, however it's been 2.5 months long, I had applied for the membership card back in Jan'23, but haven't heard any update from them on the readiness of my card. Super U reception desk staffs are also not sure of this delay, many applications are in queue like mine. Anyway, there're huge collection and variety of almost every household and food items. You will get fresh bread and cake. The list will be endless. You may take a big metal trolley using a Rs 5 coin. And there are two more plastic carriers available inside the Super U, one smaller trolley and another is small hand held basket. Super U has vast free parking arena and there are few recycling containers of different items. Payment happens only in cash and cards. Any items which might need testing, can be availed only after its billing and from the front customer service desk. You can also get refundable water cans. Home delivery is possible till 7 pm and the minimum bill amount should be Rs 4900. A lot of locations in the north is covered for home delivery. There's a readymade food counter and roasted chicken available but limited stock on daily basis. Enjoy your visit and check out the items there. Super U Membership Update: there's an app named Checksa, you need to register there and use the QR code every time you bill in Super U, so you'll earn points and can be redeemed later.

Good afternoon fox, me as a Mauritian people this is a place for tourists and a place for stuff. But I don't say for them too. Nice and cool environment but about a bit noisy. You have choices amongst choices what to do and what to buy. A place never stop for people on day time and afternoon. Yes you have to be vigilant too. This is a wonderful open shopping with direct summer holiday. Well is your choice what to ware or not. Pay attention thus place is not like European one but you have to ware properly and not to do provocation to others people please. Be respectful. A place not to be naked but all the religious visiting this environment so be human not dogs.

Pereybere Public Beach is a bustling and stunning destination backed by shady trees, offering activities like swimming, sunbathing, kayaking, and picnicking. It's located within the Grand Baie area, providing easy access to amenities and accommodations. Visitors can also explore nearby attractions such as the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden or take a local bus to visit islands like Ile Plate, Ile aux Cerfs, or Ile aux Gabriel.
Stunning small beach. Calm, clean, easy parking. Some snorkeling around the rocks by the left but not great visibility or variety.
Duncan A — Google review
This speech is definitely not our choice, it is too too loud and too busy for us. The water is also not as clear as we like it. Very funny, there were many lazy dogs, laying in the shadows of some trees.
J&J F — Google review
Amazing sunset spot at Pereybere Beach — compact cove with calm, clear water that stays swimmable right up to golden hour, plus handy amenities just off the sand. Arrive 30–45 minutes before sunset to find roadside parking and a shady patch near the park; food trucks and cafés make it easy to grab snacks while waiting for the sky to turn orange‑pink. Families will appreciate the shallow, roped swimming area, showers and toilets; water shoes help for occasional coral or rocks. Tip: for snorkelling, try the left side rocks earlier in the day, then settle in for sunset.

Calm, relaxing spot where you can swim and spend whole day on the beach. This was the beach I liked the most in Mauritius.
Elif T — Google review
Nice beach with lovely white sand and less coral on entry to the water compared to a lot of other beaches in Mauritius. Rather small and gets quite busy and nothing on the beach in terms of sunbeds / restaurants etc but lots nearby. Lots of shade which is quite nice.
Ruben B — Google review
If you want to have the best snorkelling experience, walk to La pointe d’azur and snorkel following the rocks near the shore. You will find lovely corals, lots of marine life and we even saw a turtle! The beach in itself is nice with public parking and lots of cheap street food.
Laure C — Google review
Nice public beach with some shade from the palm trees. Turquoise water and seem to be quite popular for french people. Completely safe to leave your bag and towel and go for a swim.
Krasimira V — Google review
Beautiful slice of paradise. What stood out was how calm and still the water is. How I didn't see a single street vendor trying to - usually successfully - get me to buy things I don't need. Felt very safe. Seemed to be a beach used predominantly by locals. This place is quite local and I will back every chance I get!

Red, a great fine dinning restaurant. Their dishes are cook to perfection. I really don't like salads but man was their salad good, they take care in every detail. The roasted duck breast, cook till pink was so juicy, the best duck I have eaten. The beef entrecôte steak was cook medium rare, juicy, tender with a delicious sauce, a highly recommend this. The lamb cutlets en croûte also cook medium rare, was delicious. Their cocktail are great, had a cosmo and a planteur. Red is now my favorite restaurant for red meat! They also have other dishes, next time will try those.

We went to Red several times and never left disappointed. They serve a variety of dishes of different styles, flavours and portion. Their salads can be upsided into main course dishes and we keep going back for the Caesar salad. One day we ordered this steak which was on the daily special menu, a generous serving and cooked as requested, still rare but well seared! I call this a "no fuss steak" and this is exactly how I like it! We would definitely come back regularly if it was a permanent item on the menu!

Grill & Chill is a great restaurant in Grand Baie that serves delicious food. The service can be a bit slow, but this is common in Mauritius, where people often take their time eating. The menu features seafood and barbecue options, as well as a grill section which makes it perfect for dinner or late night dining.
Grille and Chill is a cozy and charming restaurant located in the northern part of Mauritius. I really appreciated the warm welcome and inviting atmosphere. The place tends to get quite busy on weekends. We enjoyed a main course of marlin and vegetables, paired with one of their delicious cocktails. The service was prompt and efficient. A highlight was the live grilling of fish right in front of the restaurant, which added a fun and engaging touch. I was delighted to celebrate my birthday there — truly a great find and an excellent choice. Tasty food cooked to order on the grill. The atmosphere and service is nothing special but I enjoyed the meal, and the wine and cocktail list was good for Mauritius. While it is on the pricier side, the portions are extremely generous, and I could have shared my grilled fish and calamari main. The sauces were surprisingly good - I enjoyed the pepper sauce and the hot chilli sauce served with the rice and potatoes accompaniment. The side salad was dismal and I’d be weary of ordering a salad main. The fish served was tuna, which was served in thin fillets and cooked through, which was tasty, but I typically prefer a thicker, seared option. All in all, a laid back and enjoyable meal but not anything to write home about.

Had dinner here with my family of 4 and was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is warm and stylish, creating an inviting vibe the moment you walk in. The staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming – a big plus. The food was overall very good. Flavors were well-balanced, the portions just right, and the presentation looked great. The main course in particular was a highlight – cooked to perfection and full of flavor. The menu offers a nice variety, with options for different dietary needs. All in all: a strong restaurant I’d gladly return to. Perfect for a relaxed night out with good food and a great vibe.

The BEST place to eat in north Mauritius, we came back like three times, because we simply had to. Food is made on grill right in front of the customers, portions are very big and diverse. Tuna steak was one of the best we ever tried, smoked marlin salad top as well. Staff is extremely nice, they treated us to traditional liqueur and flambeed bananas (using local Mauritian rum).

Sauterelle Restaurant, situated in Grand Baie, Mauritius, is a top choice for those seeking an unforgettable dining experience. This establishment offers a delightful blend of French, Mauritian, and Mediterranean cuisine made with fresh farm-to-table ingredients. The restaurant is highly regarded for its romantic ambiance and impressive wine selection. Visitors have raved about the sensational food and impeccable service provided by the passionate owner Sophie.
We had the most incredible meal, so much so we went back 2 nights later! The food was sensational, we couldn’t fault it and the Hendricks Buck was our absolute perfect cocktail. Sophie is soooo lovely and you can tell how much passion and care she puts into the restaurant as the food and service speaks for itself. Thank you for such a wonderful 2 nights

From the welcome by the owners to the through the meals and drinks this soon became our favourite restaurant in Grand Baie. The food is delicious, I could have eaten the tuna tartare for starter, main, and dessert. There is so much choice from the standard menu and the specials board, something for everyone. Service is attentive without being overbearing and the terrace seating is well spaced and enjoys the sea breeze. Cant comment on the view as it was dark when we went. Enjoyed our first visit so much so that we returned for our final night special meal.

Great food (bit pricey though) and great service. Pleasant atmosphere and cool place to dine in after watching sunset in Grand Bay.

Nice to find a place in Mauritius that serves more than the typical Mauritian dishes. This is a nice place for a date or celebration. Service was good.

Absolutely stunning experience. Our best meal in Mauritius thus far. Our reservation was handled immaculately. The ambience of the restaurant was magnificent. We sat on the terrace. Our meals were out of this world. We had starters, main course, dessert and coffee. Really a ten of ten dining experience. Our waitress, Sangela, was fantastic. She provided fabulous service. We loved our evening at this fabulous restaurant. Just perfect in every way. Thank you

This restaurant is a real treasure to have found. The owners and chef are super friendly and welcoming and always helpful with any questions you have. The waiters know their menu and give you all the ingredients if you ask. Super atmosphere… nice music and cozy seating… and last but not least the food was superb. I had a tooth fish (which is rare to get) and it was the first time in my life to eat that fish. It was succulent. Pity I had a fantastic crab ravioli starter otherwise I would have not been ashamed to lick my plate. Compliments to the chef, staff and the owners. We will surely be back. Ps I forgot to take a complete pics of that fish but at the whiteness you can see the freshness

We spent our last evening on Mauritius at Sauterelle. The starters were all really good! The steak was a bit disappointing though. Also the cheese pasta was not the greatest - tasted a bit boring and the pasta was too much cooked. But the staff was really friendly and service was also good :)

Situated in the picturesque village of Trou-Aux-Biches, Le Pescatore is a charming restaurant offering a unique dining experience. Overlooking the azure waters of the Indian Ocean, this establishment boasts a terrace on the seafront, providing an enchanting setting for patrons to savor Chef Pramod Gobin's imaginative cuisine. With a focus on seafood and local Mauritian ingredients, guests can indulge in a romantic and soothing atmosphere while enjoying warm hospitality from the attentive staff.
We just had lunch at Le Pescatore. The food was exquisite. The decor and setting gave a true paradise island feel. We had the calamar lasagna with sea urchin sauce, tuna steak & catch of the day fish as main. Would absolutely recommend this place.

We came here for a special occasion and tried the tasting menu - it was a very good experience. The tuna tartar and the fish were the highlights: fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service was friendly and professional, and the atmosphere was romantic, with a beautiful setting right on the beach. Perfect spot for a memorable evening. Would definitely recommend the tasting menu.

An excellent restaurant — truly a lovely dining experience! The canapés were delicious — tuna/ whitefish, perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. The starter of prawns and palm heart was a wonderful surprise: fresh, plump, juicy prawns with tender palm hearts and a soft, flavorful cream on top. The main course — berry fish with a delicate cream sauce and crispy tempura okra — was beautifully done and very tasty. Dessert was a perfectly spiced crème brûlée with a refreshing lemon palate cleanser, followed by coffee served with homemade truffles — absolutely lovely 😍 Service was excellent — attentive, meticulous and quick. The ambience was peaceful and elegant, with a beautiful seaside setting that made the whole experience even more special. Highly recommended! 🌊✨🍽️☕️

It is a lovely place for an excellent variety of fish. We went for 4 course set menu priced around £40 per person, and a bottle of wine was extra. We sat by the ocean just after sunset with gentle waves lapping below. So good I forgot photos of the main and desert! Service was excellent with a complimentary glass of rum at the end.
