It's a great chateau! We would have enjoyed it more if there were a guided tour in English. We could not visit the chateau without a private tour, and they were all in French. I speak Portuguese and Spanish, but that didn't help at all while trying to understand the guide! I want to learn French so I don't miss anything like this again!!! The staff was great and I highly recommend the visit!

The castle exterior is fabulous. Unfortunately, we were unable to tour the inside as we did not know that the first Sunday of the month is free entry and they had reached their maximum at 4:00 pm. No doubt it would have been a great visit.

Renewed castle nicely equipped with newer and older furniture, tapestries, curtains. Nice to see. Admission is 10 eur and only in guided groups (app. 10-25 people) but all guidance is in French. There are plaques with basic inscriptions in French. English and Spanish.

A very beautiful place and very important for visiting in pau. It's so nice, Their guide explains very well... You can feel the short history of Henry IV and his childhood Just in the weekend it is very important to know about their time because of the numbers of visitors maybe you have to wait a lot.

Les Halles de Pau is a large 2-storey building that houses markets, both permanent and daily. Half of the lower floor is a farmers- market with fresh foods from the farms. The lower floor of the other half also has fresh foods but includes lots of lamb(especially now at Easter), fish, beef, pork, duck, cheese, wine and sweet treats like chocolate and macarons. Upstairs, above this section, are eateries, including tapas, and an oyster bar, among others. Today, I had tapas and tried my best french. The servers where you order and pick up, were super nice. The one woman who didn't speak English grabbed her colleague who did. Oh, and the food was très bien! The poulet mariner (marinated chicken) and potatas bravas were delicious! And as the name says, tapas, dishes to share. The amounts were very plentiful!

Some of the most delicious food I’ve ever tasted. The tapas are to die for! The macarons, ice cream, and baked goods are all superb. The selection is tremendous! I’ll have to go back for a longer stay to sample more next time!

A really nice permanent indoors market with fresh, local produce sold directly from the farmers. Organic vendors, fresh flowers, cheeses, honey, cured and fresh meats, wines, baked goods… Lovely restaurants upstairs serving good quality food at very reasonable prices. Overall a nice cultural experience.

I originally posted a negative review because I visited a not-so-great location of GL. I saw the response of the owner which informed me about a fire that has been taken place. It's only fair to wait and see how they will come back, so I pause my opinion and wish them lots of good luck to rebuild the original store again.

Certain products have good prices and others don't. Always when I find something that I love is more expansive then anywhere. The galleries from Bayonne are a much better option in therms of diversity.

Pretty good collection, with some big names like Rubens, Bruegel, Degas, El Greco and a few more. It's a small museum, 1h/1h30 is enough to see it - in that sense it's enjoyable. Also the entry is free and the staff are nice

It was a hot afternoon in Pau and I came in not quite sure what to expect. What a treat! Free for starters. Quiet (such a contrast to the galleries in London). Amazing permanent exhibition and - a total treat - seeing the work of one of the masters of photography, Robert Doisneau (a special exhibition). Very friendly staff who did all they could to deal with my schoolboy French. A very good (small) guide in English to illuminate some of their major works.

This is an excellent well curated art museum with works from the 1600s through the twentieth century.

I cant believe that this caliber museum has free admission. Small diverse collection with some very incredible gems.

It fantastic that the small towns has got galleries ✌️✌️ I totally enjoyed it and ladies were kind … the only downside was that 2 of us - we both got lost - the building is a bit confusing if you’re there first time so I was trying to follow the green arrows but they just took me around - please, mark the exits ;-)) The colour glass was great✌️✌️

The entrance is free. Small but interesting. There are couple of grande masters paintings, Rubens and Degas, but the rest are not so well known. Like some, I would say impressionist, there.

What a cute little museum! With first class art: El Greco, Degas, and many others. Tour de France exhibition at the moment with bicycles from early 20th century. Very helpful and friendly staff! A must if you are in Pau.

What a fun way to get from Pau train station to the upper part of the city. It takes you directly to the Chateau de Pau and wonderful restaurants and shops. And there is no charge?

This is a wonderful old for Nicola train. It doesn’t go particularly far, but it is free to ride on and runs every five minutes or so. It takes you from the lower area of the city near the train station up to the upper part of the town a fun thing to do

Free transport between the city centre and the train station in Pau... But not the usual way. The Funicular is a historic piece of art and worth a ride, even if you don't need to go to the station! The cabins quickly fill with people and the two trains set off, meet in the middle and touch down at the opposite end. The view from up here to the mountains is spectacular too!

Awesome. It is worth the wait and money.

Not much to see at the bottom, but why miss a free ride on something that is part of history and free? Not much of that around! It leaves every 5 or so minutes and the trip is not more than than 3 or 4.

I tried to enter the Casino de Pau tonight at 10pm to play poker. Although this is not written anywhere on their website that you cannot enter without, I have been asked an ID, which I presented and got told that this is not a valid ID. I have been playing poker in many casinos around the globe and this is the first time ever that I got asked an ID to enter a casino and second that my Federal and valid driving licence is not an acceptable ID. The staff was absolutely not helpful, unapologetic and they were rude. This behavior is unacceptable and is certainly giving the impression of an amateur and sloppy business !

I would go here after games, to just relax, eat a really good meal or have a drink with friends, the diabolo fraise is really good! Also Salsa night is really fun here.

Travelling on holiday from the UK so thought would pop in. Nice small museum with some great exhibits. Just a donation at the end which is more than reasonable. Everything is in French unsurprisingly lol but Google translate worked wonders and I could understand everything. Well worth a visit to kill 1 or 2 hrs. Was even able to watch today's Paratroopers in training jumping off a massive platform.

Good parking, Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent displays of medals, insignia and regimental flags. Guided tours in assorted languages from Veterans who were at many of the incidents shown in the video presentations. Excellent value for those interested in military history. Possibly not ideal for little children. Good military history source and a small shop with souvenirs. I'll be going back next time in Pau.

Please check opening times. Phone if possible. It was shut on my arrival, at scheduled opening times!!
