I'm Fallin love with this mosque. With its historical, it's really spiritual message for Islamic people. Unfortunately the toilet are lacking maintenance and the electrical big umbrella are still under maintenance. Hope Aceh people can keep the mosque and still beautifull

All I can say is this mosque is a sign of miracle. It's a must visit place if you come to Banda Acheh. Truly a beautiful mosque with great architecture and strong structure. The mosque is huge, clean and more importantly very calmful.

A very grand and beautiful mosque. There are 2 entrances at the north and south ends of the compound. You are required to take off your footage before entering the compound and you will be given a number tag to retrieve your shoes when you are done. Must go!

Masjid Raya Baiturrahman, located in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, is one of the country’s most iconic and historically significant mosques. During my stay in Banda Aceh, I prayed many times at Masjid Raya Baiturrahman, truly one of the most iconic and meaningful landmarks in the city. This mosque is not just a place of worship, but also a miracle of history, as it stood strong during the devastating 2004 tsunami while much of the city around it was destroyed. The mosque is very spacious and beautiful, with stunning architecture and a peaceful atmosphere. Beneath the mosque, there’s a huge underground parking area that can hold hundreds of cars and motorcycles, which makes it very convenient for visitors. If you’re in Banda Aceh, visiting this mosque is a must, for prayer, reflection, or simply to admire its powerful presence and history.

It is a large building, but with mostly simple design and decorations on exterior and interior. Relief is mostly cast not carved. More Muslim symbolic than visual appeal. Must cover-up skin to enter grounds. Non-Muslims not allowed in mosque.

Masjid Raya Baiturahman is a must place to visit when you're in Acheh. There's ample parking lots in the basement. The praying Hall is really big.

If international travellers are part of the target to educate people, the museum must improve signage in more than just Indonesian. There are a few posts in English but international guests are mostly left to imagine from the displays or try google translate which become cumbersome. Otherwise ot is a lovely spot to visit to get a sense of traditional archetecture and the diversity of aceh culture.

Loved the place but it lacks explanations in English. Only had displays in Bahasa. There were some albeit very few exhibitions in English.

Museum aceh is aceh library of history, you can find traditional house models in here and you can see how acehnese live their life in old time. You can also visit the exhibition of aceh artifacts and history belonging. Here you can do photoshoot and else. If you have 30-45 min to spare, go visit the museum. There isn’t much there to see, mostly basic exhibitions about the region.

Touch our hearts if you really explore this museum. Wonderful stories pertaining to the catastrophe. You may need to purchase ticket to enter the museum. Each person is Rupiah 20K for foreigners. There are 3 floors for the exhibition. Each floor full of photos describing the situation and replicas. There is also a room for you to watch the tsunami video for about 9 minutes.

We visited this museum during morning. It's a huge and the design is beautiful. There were not many people during our visit. This museum illustrated on the huge tsunami tragedy in 2004. There are many artifacts, information, and footage available regarding to the horrific tragedy. It's the close experience from what happened on 2004 where you can see and feel. But ff course it's not the same and you can't compare with the real event. The best thing to do is to take a lesson from what happen and say your prayer for those who lost their life during that day. The museum is clean and the staffs is nice to. Be aware of the operating hour of this museum before coming. Such a wonderful experience and a must visit place for tourist. You are not consider visiting to Acheh if you didn't come to this museum.

This place is cool. You can exercise, eat, picnic in here. In the morning its exercise then when afternoon come it's become night market. But still you can exercise too. So many people exercise in afternoon instead of morning though. It's multifunction field

The only large park in town. Nice to sit and have picnic under the shades of trees. Many activities for kids (playing kites, bubbles, etc). Super crowded on sunday morning, packed with pop-up markets, food vendors, and exhibition booth (cars, mobile phone, etc you name it). Nice to go on working days, early morning, late afternoon, or in the evening.

I went here with friends as they miss the taste of Ayam Lepas. This place famous with the sambal lepas. A chili sauce that made from a fresh green chili. Taste really good for those who likes spicy food. Of course you ate it with the fried chicken. I think the taste still as good as the past few years. It's a museum located quite deep inside the housing area in a form Huge vessel. This is what the 2004 tsunami does to this creature. It is well maintained, changed from a shop to become a museum. A very informative insight from the proof and leftover. The view from the top is also very beautiful. You can see a mosque, a mountain and Acheh town from a far. There are many visitors come here for a visit. Also a must visit spot if you come to Banda Acheh. There are also few small souvenir shops located at the entrance of this Museum. The price is cheap and negotiable compared to what you can find in the town. The service is also good.

It is a museum for you to understand how badly the Tsunami hit this city. How powerful is the Tsunami that can bring up such a large ship ashore.

You are able to free roam or with a guide. However, becareful that some parts might not be maintained.

We spent about an hour here. The ticket price is IDR 3000 per person for foreigners. You need to do bank transfer or via QR code as no cash is allowed. The ship has 3 stages and you need to take stairs to go up. Surroundings are fenced as a historical landmark of tsunami disaster that is occurred on 26th December 2004. Most of the houses are destroyed during the tsunami.

This mosque is well known for it's unique dome that resemble Acehnese men traditional hat. In the mornings there maybe holy matrimony/wedding procession took place. In the afternoon and on friday there are some street food vendor around the gate. Vast free parking area.

We are quite disappointed by the mie honestly. This is our first meal at Banda Acheh and it leave us with a low standard on foods in Acheh. Finding a shop on net that can be trusted is a struggle because of scammers, but fortunately for me I found this shop. I ordered a customized black forest cake and 2 halves of fudgy brownie for delivery even though I'm out of the country, they were very accommodating, answering all my queries and favors. Recommended! Putroe Phang Park is the park of the Kingdom of Aceh Darussalam which was founded by Sultan Iskandar Muda (1607-1636) for his empress Putroe Phang who came from the Kingdom of Pahang. The original name of this park is Taman Ghairah as mentioned in the Bustanus Salatin book. This park was built because the sultan really loved Princess Pahang and so that the empress would not be lonely when the sultan lived the government. The construction of the park is said to have been a request from Putroe Phang, the king's daughter, who was brought to Aceh by Sultan Iskandar Muda after the conquest of the Pahang kingdom. Inside this park, there is the Pinto Khop, a small dome-shaped gate that is the door that connects the garden to the palace. Pinto Khop is a place to rest for Princess Phang, after being tired of swimming, it is located not far from Gunongan, where the ladies wash her hair. There is also a pond for the empress to wash her hair and take a flower bath. Taman Putroe Phang adalah taman Kerajaan Aceh Darussalam yang didirikan oleh Sultan Iskandar Muda (1607-1636) untuk permaisurinya Putroe Phang yang berasal dari Kerajaan Pahang. Nama asli taman ini adalah Taman Ghairah sebagaimana disebutkan di dalam kitab Bustanus Salatin. Taman ini dibangun karena sultan sangat mencintai Putri Pahang dan agar sang permaisuri tidak kesepian bila di tinggal sultan menjalankan pemerintahan. A good place to explore. Taman sari in Aceh is like Taman Sari in Yogyakarta. They were used by king and his wife for their happy time.

Nothing much to see, just a mausoleum and small hill. The wonder of it is the playhill was using egg white as the glue.

Visited Masjid Baiturrahim in Ulee Lheue, Aceh just before Zuhur prayer, and wow—it was super hot! The sun was blazing, and I could feel the heat bouncing off the pavement, but honestly, it didn’t take away from how beautiful and peaceful this place felt. This mosque is famous for surviving the 2004 tsunami when everything around it was destroyed. Standing there, knowing what the mosque had been through, gave me goosebumps. Despite the heat, I took my time to appreciate the architecture and the calm atmosphere. Inside, it was cooler and quiet—such a nice break from the heat outside. I’m really happy I made the visit. Even though I was sweating buckets, the experience was still worth it. The spiritual vibe, the strong historical presence, and the simplicity of the mosque all made it so special. There’s something about being in a place with that much history and faith that just fills you with peace. If you’re in Aceh, don’t skip this mosque—even if it’s hot out! Bring an umbrella or just brave the sun like I did—you won’t regret it. Alhamdulillah for this meaningful stop in my journey.

the only mosque around here that survived the tsunami disaster in 2004. It's currently being renovated to make it look better and proper. comfortable place of worship with good carpet and fan facilities. It has a new and clean ablution place and toilet. have lots of parking space.

This mosque is at zero point of Tsunami. Located about 60m from the beach. The local people told me that the highest water peak is on the mosque's dome. But the water didn't tear down the building and it remains strong till today. Need to upgrade the facilities at the ablution area and toilets.

I still remember 17 years ago when I came to this place a week after the Tsunami that devastated Aceh, including this beautiful beach. Now Ulee Lheue has become a favorite place by local residents for leisure, especially in the afternoon until dusk or Maghrib prayer. The view during sunset is really amazing when the position of the sun is between the end hills of Bukit Barisan. The sea waves are not big because the beach is surrounded by breakwaters. So we can take a walk along the white sandy beach, swim or enjoy a duck paddle ride with our partner, family or friends. There are also culinary outlets where the prices for food and drinks are inexpensive. What needs to be fixed here are the problem of garbage everywhere and the orderliness of the vehicle parking.

Traditional acehnese fried rice with assorted toppings, from omelette, fried chicken, shrimps and crackers. The spices are different compared to other fried rice dishes in Indonesia, and a real comfort food for both locals and visitors.

Actually I tried to visit this restaurant previously, but it is the same like the Mie Razali next store, just always crowded with so many customers. However, I finally and surprisingly visited this place on 2017.05.10, just one day before the 35th Anniversary of Faculty of Medicines, UnSyiah, the international symposium. Together, and invited with all the rest speakers from abroad, we visit this place and had our dinner. The Nasi Goreng with Mutton is the best, or the first time, I've tried in Banda Aceh. And together with the side dishes that they put on the desk, especially, the Ayam Paha, also the shrimp that the Malaysian professor kindly shared with me. This is the restaurant that I will definitely visit again in Banda Aceh.

This shop sells excellent coffee: Kopi Sanger, commonly found in most shops. It's a passable place for food, but food was not from this shop. Had mee aceh and sate matang. Need to order sides to take with the noodles, although they tasted nice, practically just stir fried noodles with soy sauce and some vegetables. I do like the sate Matang, relatively like satay in Malaysia. However, the meat pieces are rather small. Another is sate Padang, I do not fancy these as the sauce is quite sweet and not much spices. The tables are very old style, nostalgic.

To all coofeeholics, heaven to you all. Relatively expensive but they served nice and fragrance roasted coffee here - choices of robusta and arabica. I tried the pea berry - which is the coffee with strongest caffeine. While pea berry sengar is coffee with a bit of milk. Depends on your preference, you can choose from light to strongest, black to milk coffee and tea here. I bet you will love it!

one of the best gem for coffee lovers it's nothing like Starbucks-y, which makes it far more special for town n people of banda aceh.. various snacks menu, plus breakfast (nasi gurih n lontong sayur), n especially the coffees.. must visit place!!

Crowded place but still the service quality is great. Many famous people went here. You should try the black coffee and sanger (coffee with milk). The “gorengan” is also great!

I was here because of Pekan Raya Aceh which is held once in 4 years. The concept is like Taman Mini Indonesia where you can see a traditional house from all across Aceh. And also learn its culture one by one. But when i was there its so stuck people are screamin and we are so hrd to get in or put because its too crowded. Then nothing else to see

If you go to Banda Aceh, make time to come here. this venue is usually held for a 5-year event, the Aceh Cultural Week. from 23 City Districts in Aceh will be represented at this event, because there are traditional houses from each City District so it looks like Taman Mini Indonesia Indah in Jakarta. but due to lack of supervision, until I write this review, this place lacks maintenance from related agencies

I came to this place with my colleague s and friends in Banda Aceh. This is the last day of the cultural event, where each region of Aceh represents, for every five year. That means I am pretty luck to be able to come here and experience it myself for such an event. I find it pretty interesting since it bring different cultural events and objectives, goods and products from different regions of Aceh. Which this kind of activities we now found very rare in Taiwan. The dance performance was super attracting. And the food and coffee, gayo coffee, are the most comforting as always. Today is the last day and today is the closing. You should not miss any chance to visit it! Go! Go! Go! Now.

Banda Aceh does not really have many parks. Unlike others this one is not too crowded, unless an event is being held there. That is the plus point. Other than that, meh.

This place is good but the food quality is too bad, and it supposed to be nice and tasty nothing to compare than other street foods. Guys you will lose your Rate due to foods taste. Its all about culinary so number 1 of all taste must be good.

Delicious foods. However some of the menus took too long to be ready, for instance, Soto Betawi and Sop Iga took nearly two hours, which was too long for any kind of food. And what's more terrible is that when we told the waiter about the problem, nobody seems to care about it.

It's better to come here for dinner for more food varieties. I came around 12 for lunch and even tho it's written that they open at 11 am, the food still weren't ready so we had limited choices. I had soto betawi and it was pricy as hell. A mere soto for IDR.41k, rice excluded. Really? 😂 Place was nice and looked clean tho.

They offer meat ball in menu without food preservation and flavoring.

This place is loosing people attention if they don't mantain food quality, and cleanliness.

An exquisitely spacious, historic home rich with history. Thanks to the guide/housekeeper, we were able to learn a great deal. I'm happy that this house has managed to stay as original as it is.

Historical sites of Indonesian heroine Tjut Nya’ Dhien. The original house was burned down by the Dutch/KNIL back in the Atjeh war This replica was founded by the Indonesian government in 1981, the well is stil the original one. Great historical site, you can fell its calm ambience. When you come to aceh, take time to drove by here.

A good exposure of Acehnese history and how the people fought for their country. Feel sad to look at the photos of those perished in the war. May there be no more war .

Lokasi bagus untuk kopi. Good spot for coffee and a break while walking around the city. Low slung plastic chairs and tables good for lounging. Kopi enak. Coffee is tasty. At time of visit, not a single woman customer here. Tidak ada wanita di sini.

Place for morning person who wants to enjoy breakfast and morning coffee. They have a signature coffee called "Kopi Coklat" it's a mixture of acehnese robusta coffee with condensed milk and acehnese home made chocolate drink prowder. I recommend to order it chilled 👌

Freshly cooked yummy food! Couldn't stop eating so no time to take photos hahaha. Dessert was pudding in a plastic cup and fresh fruit plate. Not as good as the main dishes esp fried chicken. And fried beef with crispy onions. Carnivores' delight
