Nestled atop a hill and overlooking the Arabian Sea, Ratnadurga Fort is an impressive stone fortress built in 1670. This massive structure, shaped like a horseshoe and spanning 1300 meters in length, was once a stronghold of the Maratha Empire. Although it has seen better days, its remnants still tell tales of history while offering breathtaking views of sunsets over the sea.
Shree Bhagvati Devi Temple is situated on Ratna Durg fort only. It was a place not housing residences and shops unlike many other big forts. The fort was built as a big watch tower to trace enemy movements. It's a kind of bastion. It has a small periphery of about a kilometre to walk. It has a brief history of a temple built there and a maratha chieftain who controlled the fort.

Some what Horse shoe shape type fort has excellent sea view and good histrological background. Light house located at others side of the Fort. Mata Bhagwati Devi Mandir located near the entrance area. This fort is also known as Bhawati Fort. Water pond with stone wall still found in good condition. Neat , clean and Location is peaceful near Ratnagiri Maharashtra.

It's a lovely place but needs some serious attention to make it wonderful place. The fort from inside can be maintained well to enhance the beauty. Can change an entry fee to maintain. The views from the fort are just lovely. Completely in awe of such views, no less than a foreign country. Public utilities like washroom and drinking water, seating benches or so can be set up.
Anuj D — Google review
Ratnadurg Fort’s history begins with its original construction during the Bahamani rule. Its strategic significance was cemented, however, after Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj captured it from the Adilshahi in 1670. It served as a crucial Maratha naval stronghold for coastal defense and monitoring pirates. Structurally, the fort is unique for its distinctive horseshoe or semi-circular shape, spanning across a headland and flanked by the Arabian Sea on three sides. The massive complex is longitudinally divided into two main parts: the upper citadel (Balekilla) and the surrounding, lower fortifications (Parkot). The strong architectural defense utilizes durable laterite stone for its massive outer walls and multiple key bastions, like the formidable Rede Buruj. This construction was purposefully designed to withstand heavy monsoon waves and the relentless pounding of sea attacks, reflecting brilliant defensive engineering . Ratnadurg is also famously known as Bhagawati Fort because it enshrines the highly revered Bhagawati Temple within its premises. The complex’s largest modern landmark is the operational lighthouse, which stands atop the fort and offers stunning, panoramic views of the sea and the entire Ratnagiri shoreline. Today, Ratnadurg stands as a proud sentinel of the Konkan coast, blending centuries-old historical ruins with active pilgrimage and tourism. Its rich maritime legacy and breathtaking vistas confirm its importance as an indispensable historical and cultural landmark in Maharashtra.

One of the very few decent places to visit in ratnagari. There is limited parking on the hilltop. But the views are quite decent for a quick walk. Not much climb. Main gate recreated. Avoid any religious festival period to avoid crowds

Ratnadurg Fort: A Heart-Warming Escape Perched along Ratnagiri’s dramatic coastline, Ratnadurg Fort offers an experience that lingers long after you leave. From the moment we stepped inside its centuries-old walls, the sea breeze and panoramic Arabian Sea views felt nothing short of magical. The walk around the fort is serene, with historic bastions and hidden corners revealing stories of the Maratha era. Watching the sunset from the ramparts was unforgettable—sky ablaze, waves crashing below. Every moment was pure bliss, a perfect mix of history and natural beauty. We enjoyed every bit and highly recommend Ratnadurg to anyone visiting Ratnagiri for a soulful, awe-inspiring day.

Ratnadurg Fort is located in Ratnagiri. The fort offers a beautiful view of the land and sea. The area around the fort is very beautiful and peaceful full of scenery.

This historic fort, located in Ratnagiri, offers breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea from its 12th-century ramparts. While there is little historical information available onsite, the scenic views from the top are well worth the visit. A replica of the fort is reportedly being built at the base on the other side. The fort is a wonderful destination for those seeking unexpected peace and natural beauty. It's best to visit in the morning or evening to avoid the humidity. Ample parking is available.

The Devi Bhagwati Temple, located within the Ratnadurga Fort premises, is a beautiful and spiritually uplifting place to visit. The temple stands gracefully inside the historic fort, surrounded by stunning natural scenery. Visitors can walk along the fort wall around the temple, enjoying breathtaking views — a deep green valley on one side and the vast, sparkling sea on the other. The combination of divine ambiance, historical charm, and panoramic views makes this temple a must-visit spot in Ratnagiri.

The temple of Devi Bhagwati is so holy and peaceful. It seems that Ratangarh fort is under the blessings of the Goddess. Very inspiring and filled with super positive vibes.

The Serene Heart of a Historic Fort Visiting the Bhagwati Temple was a highlight of our trip to Ratnadurg Fort. Nestled securely within the ancient fort walls, this temple is a beautiful sanctuary of peace and spirituality. The moment you step inside the temple complex, there's a tangible sense of calm that contrasts wonderfully with the rugged, historic fortifications surrounding it. The temple is very well-maintained, clean, and has a powerful, divine atmosphere. Taking a moment for darshan here feels like connecting with centuries of faith and history. After paying our respects, we stepped back out to the breathtaking panoramic views of the Arabian Sea from the fort grounds. The combination of the spiritual serenity inside the temple and the majestic natural beauty outside is truly a unique and memorable experience. It’s the spiritual soul of the fort, and a visit to Ratnadurg is incomplete without spending some time here.

Small temple but well maintained. Can also have a graze of sea from the top of the fort

Historical Significance: The Shree Devi Bhagavati Temple grants the surrounding Ratnadurg Fort its alternate name, Bhagawati Fort. According to local lore, the Goddess is the protector of the city, having vanquished the demon Ratnasur. The temple’s presence inside the strategic fort premises underscores its deep historical role as a spiritual sanctuary for Maratha defenders. Architecture and Restoration: The temple's architecture, primarily using laterite stone, reflects the traditional Konkan style. While ancient, the current structure and premises underwent major renovations around 1950 and subsequent years, modernizing the facade and amenities while preserving the core sanctity of the shrine . Interior and Central Deity: The sacred garbhagriha (sanctum sanctorum) houses the main idol of Goddess Bhagavati, believed by some to be Swayambhu (self-manifested). This central deity is often depicted in the fierce, protective form of Ashtadashabhuja (the 18-armed goddess), signifying her immense power. Ornamental and Sculptural Details: While the exterior is currently brightly painted and functional, the interior features unique traditional sculptural works. Noteworthy are the idols of 'Veer Vignesh' and 'Ashtadashbhuj' Ganapati, demonstrating delicate craftsmanship. The deity herself is richly adorned with silver and gold ornaments, especially during Navratri. Spiritual Atmosphere: Perched high on the horseshoe-shaped fort, the temple offers a unique spiritual experience, blending devotion with the calming backdrop of the Arabian Sea. The atmosphere is serene, making it a powerful pilgrimage site where history and faith converge.

Transportation service
Rahataghar Ratnagiri bus stand is the primary transportation hub in Ratnagiri, conveniently located near the railway station and offering extensive connectivity to various destinations. The seating arrangements are comfortable, and there's a water cooler available near the controller room. The helpful controllers can provide alternative travel options. However, some recent reports indicate that the buses may not be operating at full capacity, and there have been complaints about unclean restroom facilities.
The Ratnagiri Bus Stop offers a well-maintained and organized environment, making it a convenient transit point for travelers. The facilities are clean and decently managed, with ample seating arrangements and helpful staff available for assistance. One of its key advantages is the extensive connectivity, with bus services available to almost every major location across the Konkan region. This makes it an ideal hub for both local commuters and long-distance travelers. Overall, it provides a reliable and accessible travel experience in the heart of Ratnagiri.

Managing large crowds and heavy traffic flow requires careful planning and coordination. Effective strategies can minimize congestion and improve safety for everyone. Real-time data analysis can help predict potential bottlenecks and adjust traffic patterns accordingly. Clear communication with the public is essential for disseminating information and managing expectations. Collaboration between different agencies and stakeholders is crucial for successful implementation.

This MSRTC ST stand also known as Rahatagar Bus stand is the only bus stand in the city. Located little outside there are no shops around which makes it difficult if you reach here after operational hours of the Ratnagiri city i.e. 7AM to 8PM. I reached here around 5 AM in the morning and had to wait for next 2 hours for my first tea. The washrooms are not clean which is again a negative here. If you're planning to visit Ganapati Pule via Ratnagiri I will recommend to look for a direct connectivity to G.Pule rather than going via Ratnagiri.

I went there with my nephew, and we had a lot of fun. It’s a beautiful place, but a few things bothered me. You charge an entry fee, yet some areas aren’t cleaned or properly maintained, which isn’t right. If you’re planning to visit Ratnagiri, make sure to visit here. The best time for a visit would be between 5 and 7.

Thiba Palace, located in Ratnagiri, is a historic building constructed in 1910 by the British and was originally intended for a Burmese king. Situated on a small hill just 2 km from Ratnagiri Bus Stand, this architectural marvel houses a marble-floored dance hall and an archaeological museum. While photography inside the palace is prohibited due to security cameras, visitors can capture its exterior.
Thiba palace Beautiful old styled structure. From outside it's fascinating. Inside they have stored old handmade stone sculptures. Entry fee 10/- per person Note: This road is little bit confusing. According to map entrance point is miss guided once you reach the end don't go straight take extreme right. That is the main entrance.

The place was the palace built by and for the last King Of Burma, after he was captured by British was back in 1885. Now it’s just used to showcase artefacts like sculpture found in nearby area and one room dedicated to the king. Max rooms are out of limit for visitors. The place is average to say max. The sound and light should be good observation after seeing the new setup of it in the compound. It could have been better if the palace could have more open rooms and showcase more things about the region and the king itself.

The Thiba Palace, situated in the Ratnagiri district, is a beautiful heritage monument with rich historical significance. Built during the British era, this elegant structure once served as the residence of King Thibaw, the exiled ruler of Burma (Myanmar). The palace is well-maintained and offers scenic views of the surrounding landscape. The entry ticket is just ₹10 per person, and there is ample parking space available inside the premises. A peaceful and informative place, perfect for history lovers and architecture enthusiasts alike.
Anshu D — Google review
Thiba Palace offers a fascinating, albeit limited, window into a glorious past. While it is a pale shadow of its former self, the structure still conveys a sense of the grandeur it once possessed. A significant highlight is the collection of stone sculptures housed within. These beautiful artifacts were excavated from nearby Sangameshwar town and date back to the 10th century, providing a valuable historical addition. The main drawback is the restricted access; unfortunately, almost 75% of the palace is off-limits to visitors. It would greatly enhance the experience if more of the structure were open for viewing. Despite the limitations, the palace is worth visiting for its architecture and the ancient sculptures. Overall Rating: 3.5 / 5 Stars

A historic palace located in Ratnagiri. It is one of the major attractions. This palace was built by the British in 1910 for the Burmese king, Thibaw Min in exile. After the king's death, the palace was left abandoned and is taken over by the state government. It has small rooms, a throne room, wooden staircases, corridors, a fountain etc. Most of the corridors and other rooms were closed due to renovation. Outside the palace, there is a large open space for hosting events and an ample parking space. There was no security guard at the main gate. However, this palace was converted into a museum. It houses historic artifacts, sculptures and a gallery dedicated to King Thibaw. The entry fee was Rs. 3 per person. Had to remove footwear before entering the side of the museum. One can visit the Thibaw point located close by.

A great spot for a short, educational visit. The museum showcases a variety of preserved marine species, fish tanks, and interesting facts about sea life. It’s well-maintained and suitable for both kids and adults — takes about 30–45 minutes to explore. Right next to the museum, we also did boating, which was a lovely surprise! It's a small and poorly maintained place. If you can visit it, it's good but if you miss it by any chance, there shouldn't be any regret. Plenty of efforts have gone in maintaining the place and the specimens - dead and living both but it greatly lacks modernisation and a feel of upkeep place. Beatification of the outer premises is a big miss.

Ratnagiri Marine Fish Museum is one of the best places to visit, especially for children. The museum offers an interesting collection of marine species and provides good educational value about sea life. The displays are well-maintained, and the location is clean and family-friendly. However, the fish aquarium section can be improved — the tanks are relatively small, and adding more varieties of fish would make the experience even better. Overall, a nice and informative place worth visiting when in Ratnagiri.

Outdoor Activities
Ganpatipule Beach is a stunning destination that beautifully combines natural beauty with cultural significance. Nestled next to a revered Hindu temple, this white-sand beach offers visitors an array of activities, from thrilling water sports to leisurely strolls along the shore. The area is dotted with snack vendors, ensuring you can indulge in local treats while soaking up the sun. Accommodations near Ganpatipule Beach boast impressive amenities such as clean swimming pools and spacious rooms that are meticulously maintained.
Scenic and peaceful: The beach is noted for its clean, bright sand and the backdrop of lush green hills adjoining the sea — a refreshing escape from city bustle. Close to landmark: The famous Ganapatipule Temple (a self-manifested Ganesha shrine) is right near the beach, adding a cultural/spiritual layer to the outing. Good mix of relaxation + activity: You can lounge and soak up views, and there are also water sports / rides available for fun. What could be improved Crowds can build up, especially during festival times or peak season — if you want solitude, choose early morning or off-peak days. Swimming may require caution: Some sections have rip currents and sudden drop-offs, so keep an eye on safety. Being a popular destination, parts of the beach may have more commercial activity (food stalls, water-rides) which might detract slightly from a completely “untouched” feel. Tips for your visit Visit during morning or evening for best light, calmer crowds and soothing views. Bring footwear for walking on sand — midday sun can warm the sand significantly. If you plan on water sports, check pricing in advance and ensure the equipment looks well maintained. For a more relaxed vibe, explore slightly off-the-main-strip beach sections where there are fewer stalls. Don’t forget your camera! The juxtaposition of sea, sand, coconut palms and the temple makes some beautiful photo opportunities. --- Conclusion: If you’re looking for a beach in Maharashtra that offers natural beauty + a cultural twist + the chance for leisurely fun, Ganapatipule Beach is an excellent choice. Just pick your time wisely, respect the sea, and you’ll have a memorable visit.

Beach is not as clean as we expect, and that’s obvious due to crowd and number of stalls & local vendors. There are water sports activities also. But as you move ahead a bit towards MTDC that stretch of beach is so peaceful and relaxing but again it’s not that much clean and tourist friendly, you can walk or stay and relax post sunset.

Ganpatipule Beach is one of the cleanest and most serene beaches I've seen! The beach is very clean and neat, and the rule of no entry after 9 PM helps maintain its pristine condition. I had the advantage of staying at the PWD Rest House, which had direct access to the beach, making my 2-day stay even more enjoyable. The stunning sunset views and peaceful atmosphere made it perfect for relaxation. A must-visit destination for anyone looking for a tranquil beach experience!
Sahil — Google review
One of the awesome and clean beaches. The shallow waters help to enjoy more. Less crowded and long beach is really good to enjoy with friends and family. You should never forget to witness the golden hours at the beach.
Pravash D — Google review
However, the experience is let down significantly by the lack of cleanliness, especially near the main temple and food stall area. The sand and the access paths have noticeable litter, which is disappointing for such a spiritual and naturally beautiful place. The facilities (like public restrooms, if available) could also use a major upgrade and better upkeep. Overall, it's a good destination for a pilgrimage or a short visit to enjoy the view and the unique temple, but don't expect a pristine, resort-style beach experience. It has incredible potential that is currently hampered by poor maintenance and waste management.

Ganpatipule Beach is a picturesque, white-sand beach known for its serene atmosphere and the ancient Swayambhu Ganesh Temple, which sits directly on its shoreline. Located in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra, it is a popular destination for both pilgrims and travelers seeking a quiet, natural getaway. Activities and features Pilgrimage to Swayambhu Ganpati Temple: The 400-year-old temple is the primary attraction, featuring a self-originated idol of Lord Ganesha made of white sand. The temple is a fine example of pagoda-style architecture. Water sports: For the adventurous, the beach offers water scooters, pedal boats, and motorboat rides. Dolphin watching is also a popular activity. Relaxation and scenic views: Visitors can enjoy sunbathing, walking on the pristine sand, and watching stunning sunsets. The beach is surrounded by lush mangroves and coconut palms, adding to its natural beauty. Beach trekking: For a more active experience, you can go beach trekking between Aare Ware Beach and Ganpatipule Beach. Explore nearby attractions: Other points of interest include Jaigad Fort, the Prachin Konkan Museum, and the poet Keshavsut's memorial in Malgund. Visitor information Best time to visit: The ideal time to visit is during the winter season, from October to February, when the weather is pleasant and comfortable. The monsoon season (June to September) brings heavy rainfall, and swimming is not advised due to rough waters. Beach timings: The beach is open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.. Is swimming safe? Swimming is generally not recommended due to rocky stretches, but the beach is safe for supervised activities. Be sure to check with local authorities for high and low tide timings. Stay options: You can find a range of accommodation options, including the popular MTDC Beach Resort, which is situated right on the beachfront. Other choices include resorts like Blue Ocean The Fern and family-friendly hotels and homestays.

One of the beautiful, spectacular beach in Konkan region. Ganpatipule beach is a well maintained & facilitated beach with cleanliness & clear sea water, right at Shri Ganpatipule Mandir 🫧 . Enjoy your splash in the sea to get soothing massaging effect & experience relaxed body. Water is clean & clear, no crabs or any sea animal disturbance & it's neither crowdy. If you are visiting Ganpatipule Mandir, you have also arrived at adventurous beauty. Yes, beach has got many water activities like : 1. Family Dragon Ride - Easy 2. Bumper Ride - Mid thrill 3. Banana Ride - Thriller 4. Spinning Wheel Ride - Most thrilling 5. Jet Ski Water rides are also highly recommended as they are super fun & you get to see mesmerizing view of sea & greenish blue sea water as they take deep. Every ride is worth a penny. If you take entire package of rides, it would cost around ₹800, could be bargained more if you more folks. Single ride would cost ₹200 per person. Best time to visit is during early morning after 7 AM to enjoy cool sea water & it's view with water activities. Breakfast can be availed at the beach at Hotel Swati or Samrat to begin your adventurous day at the beach. There are benches around for everyone to sit, relax & dry. Beach also has coastguard.

This is a great place for lunch and dinner. The non vegetarian food is great and the service is fast. The owner is kind and polite. The chicken I had was fresh and the taste of food is great. I have heard great things about this place from other residents too. Be assured of great food at good price at this place. Punjabi, Chinese, konkani food as well as Biryani and momos are on the menu too. Highly recommended.

Very nice staff.. the food is good at a reasonable rate. Takes a lot of time. 3 stars because last time they took 42 mins to give half cooked chana masala. The kabuli chana was not cooked properly. Plus when I asked them after 20 mins one of those chefs was angry even though it was his mistake. The owners and everything is really good but they should have good control over their chefs. Good food lasts for some hours in the stomach, good behaviour and time management makes a restaurant last forever.

The overall experience at this place is good. People serving here do care about their customers. I had a mutton kheema thali and it was tasty and filling. They maintain proper cleanliness and hygiene which was a big plus for me. There is some space for improvement though it will be worth for your money and you should definitely check it out.

Cafe Cloud, located in Ratnagiri, is a pocket-friendly eatery that offers a diverse menu featuring items such as Chicken Momos, Margherita Pizza, Veggie Loaded Pizza, Tandoori Mayonnaise Burger, and various milkshakes. The cafe opens at 11:30 a.m. With its delightful ambiance and courteous staff, it provides a positive dining experience. Cloud Cafe, located on Polytechnic Road, is a popular hotspot for college students. It has a peaceful atmosphere, making it a great place to hang out or study. The cafe has two levels—a ground floor and an upper floor—providing ample seating space. I ordered Maggi and a sandwich. The food was decent, nothing extraordinary, but the pricing is mid-budget, so it’s fair for what you get. Overall, a nice spot to relax and chill with friends. During my recent adventure in the Joshi Paland area of Ratnagiri, I stumbled upon Suras Snacks Corner, a delightful gem that quickly became my go-to spot for snacks. Initially opting for the Misal Pav for breakfast, I was blown away by its incredible flavor—so much so that I indulged in it every day for six consecutive days! The experience remained consistently delicious, and the friendly service only added to my enjoyment.
Nice quality of food and best service. Recommended always visit to Ratnagiri

I came to know about this place while exploring Joshi paland area of Ratnagiri. As I was not aware about what can I try from this place so I decided to play safely by ordering Misal Pav for breakfast but when I did tasted it OMG it's was unforgettable experience. Believe me you will not be able to get such tasty misal in Ratnagiri. I did tasted the misal for continuous 6 days and the experience was same and also liked their service. So definitely I'm recommending misal pav from this place. If you want to enjoy misal pav with 2 extra pav ani tea for 2 people it will cost you 110 but the taste is worth your every penny. Apart from it if you want to try bhel puri or shev puri Ragada patis and ( surprisingly) cheese sandwich you can visit this place from 04:30pm to near about 08:30pm. In the morning this place starts serving at 09:00am. Apart from it(misal pav) I'm also uploading pictures of ragda patis, pav patis.

It was recommended by friend with good reviews. So we went there. The place is far from main road and city. Limited options available and that also different dishes for different time. We ordered 5 6 dishes among them ragada patice and vada pav were only good. Others were not that much satisfactory. I am a big fan of pani puri and this place disappointed me. My friends used to say this one is best place in ratnagiri for chat. May be they like but I am not satisfied. Among all one good observable thing is hygiene.

Bhatye Beach is a prestigious destination along the Konkan coastline, offering stunning views of the Sahyadri mountain ranges. Located in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra, it is easily accessible from the city and boasts a long shoreline for leisurely walks. The beach features a creek that separates it from Mandvi shore and is known for its serene atmosphere.
This Bhatye beach is perfect if you want to get away from the crowds. It’s much quieter than the busy beaches, making it a great spot to relax, read, or just enjoy the view. The sand is clean, the water is clear, and the whole place has a calm vibe. It feels like your own little peaceful spot. Great for picnics, walking along the shore, or just chilling. The views from the road of beach with trees is just a scenic view. Nearby the beach there is a small mountain with rocks that can be a good place for some good pictures. Definitely recommend if you want to escape the busy tourist areas!

Beach was beautiful as it was cleaned and popular among the tourists. In evening it was crowded and but still you can enjoy with kids on the beach. We visited twice once in evening and another in early morning. Morning time we had great fun as not much crowd and we enjoyed to the core. Water was cleaned and no stone patches in between we felt while swimming or playing inside the water. Multiple local stalls such as bhelpuri, sevpuri, coconut water, available to fill your stomach after the great enjoyment. Morning view and after sunset view becomes more amazing when you experience both. Beaches are simply fantastic to free your mind.

It is a very beautiful and serene beach. The beach is somewhat crowded during holidays. Clean waters.. and we even had fun collecting sea shells. During peak season, there are horse and camel rides. There's a food joint right on the beach with limited chaat menu. The taste is average and service is slow. The paid washroom facility is slightly far from beach and it's not even clean. The person collecting money was very rude. There is ample parking space and If you are planning to visit late evening then better take your own vehicle as the road outside the beach is very secluded post 8pm and it gets difficult to get any public transport like auto rickshaws.

Mandavi Beach, situated just 2 kilometers from Ratnagiri Bus Stand in Maharashtra, is a popular spot along the Konkan coastline. Known for its unique black sand and often referred to as 'Kala Samudra', this vibrant beach is surrounded by the Ratnadurg Fort and the Arabian Sea. It holds historical significance as it was the site where the Gateway of Ratnagiri was built to defend the shoreline.
Mandavi Beach is a calm place to enjoy a walk by the sea. The black sand and cool breeze make it a nice spot to relax. It's close to Ratnagiri town, making it easy to visit. However, the beach could be cleaner, as some areas have litter. Still, it's a good place to unwind and enjoy the view.

Mandavi Beach, often called the 'Gateway of Ratnagiri,' certainly offers some picturesque moments, especially during sunset. The unique black sand and the backdrop of Ratnadurg Fort give it a distinctive charm. It's a lovely spot for a leisurely stroll and to enjoy the cool sea breeze. However, the experience can be a bit of a mixed bag. During weekends, it tends to get quite crowded, and unfortunately, cleanliness can be an issue with noticeable litter in some areas. While there are seating areas, more dustbins would definitely help maintain the beach's appeal. If you're looking for a tranquil escape, I'd recommend visiting on a weekday to avoid the crowds. It's close to Ratnagiri town, making it easily accessible, and exploring nearby attractions like the Ratnadurg Fort adds to the overall experience. With a bit more attention to cleanliness, this beach has the potential to be a truly fantastic spot.

Peaceful vibes, scenic views, and a touch of history — Mandavi Beach truly has it all! 🌴

Mandavi Beach holds significant cultural and historical importance as the symbolic Gateway of Ratnagiri. Located near the Rajiwanda Port, the beach is renowned for its unique, dark volcanic sand, often affectionately called the 'Black Sea'. The area serves as a lively public space, historically linked to the Ratnadurg Fort visible to the west and the town’s maritime heritage. The iconic, sloping structure known as the Gateway itself overlooks the Arabian Sea, providing a scenic viewpoint. For family enjoyment, the beach is bustling with joyful activities, making it one of the most crowded spots in the region. Visitors delight in engaging activities like camel rides and enjoying the lively atmosphere created by local vendors. Adding to the visitor experience, high-quality accommodations like the Hotel Sea Fans are conveniently located directly facing the beach. This provides guests with immediate access and stunning, unobstructed coastal views from their rooms. Mandavi Beach is the perfect blend of scenic beauty and local commerce. It offers a unique Konkan experience, ensuring that every evening spent strolling along the busy jetty is both memorable and perfectly picturesque.

Mandavi Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Ratnagiri, located right near the town and facing the Arabian Sea. It has a long stretch of black sand and a wide walkway along the shore, making it perfect for a relaxed stroll. I visited the beach quite late at night — around 10:30 PM — and it was such a peaceful experience. The breeze was cool and refreshing, and walking along the stretch under the night sky felt really calming. The sound of waves, the open sky, and the peaceful surroundings made it truly special. It’s also a nice spot in the evening when the place is more lively, with food stalls and people enjoying the view. The beach gives a clear view of the sea, with the Ratnadurg Fort and lighthouse visible in the distance. If you’re in Ratnagiri, don’t miss a visit to Mandavi Beach — whether during sunset or a quiet walk at night, it’s a lovely place to unwind.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 – A peaceful and scenic beach in Ratnagiri! Mandavi Beach in Ratnagiri is one of the cleanest and most relaxing beaches I’ve visited on the Konkan coast. It’s located very close to the main town, which makes it easy to reach, yet it still feels calm and uncrowded. The sand here is dark and soft, and the sea is usually gentle — perfect for walking barefoot along the shore or just sitting quietly watching the waves. The best time to visit is in the evening when the sunset view is absolutely stunning. The orange and pink sky reflecting on the Arabian Sea makes for some great photos. There are a few small stalls nearby selling tea, coconut water, and snacks like bhel and vadapav, so you can easily spend a few peaceful hours here without needing to go far. Mandavi Beach also gives a nice view of Ratnadurg Fort, which is located nearby on a hilltop. You can even see fishing boats coming and going from the jetty area, adding a lovely local touch. The beach is clean, safe, and family-friendly — ideal for couples, kids, and solo travelers alike. Overall, Mandavi Beach is a must-visit spot in Ratnagiri if you’re looking for quiet natural beauty, a refreshing sea breeze, and that classic Konkan charm. 🌊

Extremely clean and well maintained pier with minimal access to beach. The shore contains a few stalls of chat, coconut water, and roasted corn. Preferable time to visit would be late afternoon or right until sunset. Post sunset, the crowd increases and during weekends, even moving around can get challenging as Mandavi beach stands as one of the most beautiful and important places to relax amongst the local population.

The traditional two-story home has been beautifully preserved and converted into a museum that showcases his personal belongings, old photographs, press clippings, and original items used by him. You can also see rare photographs of the Lal-Bal-Pal trio, who played a key role in the Swaraj movement. The museum offers a nostalgic journey into the early life and times of Lokmanya Tilak — a true patriot whose ideas continue to inspire generations. A peaceful and well-maintained place that every Indian should visit at least once! 🇮🇳

Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak's birthplace in Ratnagiri is a must-visit for history enthusiasts and patriots. The house where this great freedom fighter was born has been well-preserved, offering a glimpse into his early life and the era he lived in. The place holds immense historical significance, and visiting it gives you a deep sense of respect for one of India's greatest leaders. The museum inside has several artifacts, photographs, and information panels that provide insights into Tilak’s life, his contributions to India’s independence, and his role in shaping modern India. The architecture of the house is simple yet elegant, reflecting the lifestyle of that period. The surroundings are peaceful, and the place is maintained well by the authorities. However, there are a few areas that could be improved—some sections could use better lighting and more interactive displays for visitors. Parking space is limited, so finding a spot nearby can be challenging during busy hours. Overall, it’s a great place to visit for those who want to learn more about Lokmanya Tilak’s legacy. Spending some time here gives you a sense of connection to India’s rich history and its struggle for independence. Highly recommended for students, history buffs, and anyone interested in India’s freedom movement.

A museum located at Tilak Ali Nagar in Ratnagiri and is a popular tourist attraction. It is the place where Lokmanya Tilak lived right here from birth till the age of 10. This museum houses artifacts and memorabilia related to the life of Lokmanya Tilak. Photography is not allowed inside the house. Outside the house, photography is allowed. Behind the house, there is nothing much to see. In front of the house, there is a statue of Lokmanya Tilak. There is no entry fee, but had to register as a part of a formalily. Parking is a bit of a problem outside as the road is narrow and no ample parking space. Overall, a must visit place in Ratnagiri.

A simple yet powerful place that takes you back to India’s freedom struggle. The house is well-preserved, with old photos and displays that offer a glimpse into Lokmanya Tilak’s early life. It’s a quiet, respectful spot — not touristy, but deeply meaningful. A must-visit for anyone who values our history.

LM Tilak born on 23rd July 1856 lived here for 10 years. It was his rented home. The property belonged to someone namely Mr. Gore. LM Tilak shifted to Pune at the age of 10 on account of his father's promotion. This house is situated in a very big premises. The backside of the house is converted into the garden now and the property now belongs to archaeological survey of India (ASI). The present day set-up doesn't mention different rooms. The first floor is not open for visitors. The place is a part of a city road having lack of parking facility. It is wheelchair accessible place.

As mobile wasn't allowed inside, we don't have photos. But the place is very neatly maintained. One, who have read the history of Indian independence, will nicely connect with the pictures in Tilak's birthplace. The home is maintained as it was in 19th century, that is a commendable job. Felt very nice while visiting one of the prominent freedom fighter's birthplace on the date of 15th August.

Pleasant Ambience. Neat and clean setting. Staff is attentive. Food is delicious. Sufficient quantity for the price. Perfect place for family dinners. P.S. : High chairs could have been a great addition. Circular tables felt a tad bit uncomfortable with these chairs.

Our dining experience had its ups and downs. There was a delay in service, with nearly an hour wait for just two dishes. The Murg Mussallam was decent, but the highlight was the Kashmiri naan, which was delicious. However, the service felt inexperienced, and the restaurant could use more attention to cleanliness and hospitality.

Here’s a refined version of your review: Review: I visited this place 2–3 years ago and had a much better experience back then. This time, the food was quite disappointing. The mutton handi was overloaded with spices and lacked a balanced flavor. The chicken dishes were just average. Overall, the quality and taste have definitely gone down over the years.

Its a really awesome place to be in a village side area like ratnagiri. Plus its closer to the station so its great. Also try their chicken tandoori its awesome. The place its nice the ambiance could have been better. The name board should be a little bigger as i was confised while finding the restaurant. Over all great place to go to.

Masala Kitchen is a gem of a restaurant for fish lovers with Traditional thalis alongside Mandvi Beach Jetty Ratnagiri. The surmai fish thali was very tasty... The owner Mr. Surve was very kind and courteous with the service... Highly recommend spot for sea food thali in Ratnagiri.

This home run restaurant has a charm of its own. Right by the Mandvi Beach , the location adds to the flavour. We took the Surmai Thali which was simply delicious. We havent seen such jumbo fish fry pieces before from our tour to goa. The kokam soda and other side dishes were simply brilliant. The Prawns masala fry were also brillaint and not to be missed by any chance. The prive may seem a bit high but one thali can be easily shared by two people which justifies the cost. The service was good. You have to wait patiently for the food as everything is prepared fresh. A must visit place to eat during Konkan Trip

The restaurant had a quiet atmosphere with ambient light. The food was finger licking tasty with sufficient quantity. Keep an eye on the price as it could be called high but I was very much satisfied for the amount I had paid. I will definitely recommend ‘Murg Mussullum’ a chicken dish with thick gravy and a small portion of rice alongwith it. It was so delicious. Half portion has 4 medium sized pieces and can be shared by 4 people. Definitely going back to try more of their food.

Swap K — Google review
Extremely disappointing experience — total waste of money! The management is rude and unprofessional. Even though only 3–4 tables were occupied, they kept making excuses like “this will take time, that will take time” for almost every dish. We ordered a laccha paratha — first they dropped it on the table while serving, then brought another one which was still raw inside! When we complained, instead of apologizing, the staff arrogantly said, “Laccha paratha is like that.” We also ordered Hara Bhara Kabab as a starter, and they said it would take a long time. But surprisingly, the next table got their Chicken Tandoori within just 20 minutes! It clearly feels like their main focus is only on non-veg items, while vegetarian customers are ignored. Such attitude is unacceptable. Service is slow, the one who was there has zero manners, and the food taste is below average. Definitely not worth visiting or recommending to anyone.

Hotel Sindhudurg is a delightful culinary gem that beautifully marries simplicity with authenticity. Nestled in Ratnagiri, this charming establishment offers a menu rich in both vegetarian and non-vegetarian Maharashtrian dishes, with a particular focus on Malvani and Konkani specialties. The restaurant prides itself on serving fresh seafood, expertly prepared with traditional Konkani spices that elevate the dining experience.
Food has been associated with memory, food has been associated with culture but rarely has it been associated with simplicity. Hotel Sindhudurg is just that, tried and tested (tasted 😂) food done right, the staff is impeccable and will suggest pairings of fish and beverages which work really well. The homestay interior coupled with the perfect execution of everyday Maharashtrian dishes make it a must visit for all travellers who not only happen to be in Ratnagiri but reside on this Gods Green Earth. PS - To the lady who was applying ointment on her burnt palm I hope you are doing fine and I wish cooking is as pleasurable to you as writing is to me.

I really liked the half and half pizza where u have an option of selecting any two types of pizza in a single one. We also ordered sizzling brownie, which was a little dry but overall was really tasty. Aloo paratha had very less stuffing but it might be a one time thing so you can definitely try yourself if you find no other option available for you, though its a cafe and you still have indian food menu like thali and roti sabji.

I just went cause of all the good reviews but was extremely disappointed...had to wait too long to get served and on the top of it got served a Pizza that looked decent but was too sour and burnt. Upon informing it to waiter, the least you can expect is an apology for unpalatable food. But that didn't happen and the manager also didn't seem to care much. Usually the chef gets called out to be informed with an apology and an assurance that this wouldn't happen again. Now I wonder if all good reviews were from family/acquaintances.

Devgad Fort is a captivating historical site that offers visitors a glimpse into the region's rich past and stunning coastal beauty. Perched atop a hill overlooking the Arabian Sea, the fort provides panoramic views that are simply breathtaking. Though the fort is in a state of ruin, its ancient walls and remnants of bastions still evoke a sense of grandeur and history. Exploring the fort's remains, you can feel the echoes of its past as a strategic stronghold. The surrounding landscape, with its lush greenery and pristine beaches, adds to the charm, making it a perfect spot for photography and quiet reflection. For history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike, Devgad Fort is a must-visit destination that captures the essence of Maharashtra's coastal heritage.
Amit P — Google review
Located in the picturesque Konkan region of Maharashtra, Devgad Fort is a lesser-known but historically rich sea fort situated near Devgad town in Sindhudurg district. Built in 1729 by Dattajirao Angre, a descendant of the great Maratha naval commander Kanhoji Angre, the fort was strategically placed at the entrance of Devgad Creek to oversee maritime movements and protect the port. Set against the backdrop of the Arabian Sea, the fort stands on a small hillock, surrounded by water on three sides. Although parts of the fort have weathered over time, key elements like the outer stone walls, bastions, and a few old cannons still survive. A small Ganesh temple inside the fort adds a spiritual touch to the place. One of the main attractions is the 15-meter tall lighthouse, located within the fort premises. The lighthouse is usually open for visitors in the late afternoon (around 4–5 PM), and from the top, you get an incredible panoramic view of the vast sea, the port, and Devgad Beach. It's an ideal spot for photographers and those seeking peaceful sunset moments. Surrounding the fort, the region is famous for Devgad Alphonso mangoes, adding a unique flavor to the overall visit. The nearby Devgad Beach, with its serene atmosphere and clean shoreline, makes the fort area a perfect weekend getaway. However, the fort lacks modern amenities and proper maintenance. Some structures are in ruins, and there are no guided tours or detailed information boards. That said, the calm, pollution-free environment and cultural-historical vibe make it a worthwhile stop for history lovers and nature enthusiasts. How to Reach: Devgad Fort is around 3–5 km from Devgad town and is accessible by road from nearby railway stations like Kankavli or by local buses and autos. Best Time to Visit: October to March, during cooler months and especially during sunset hours.
Pranil C — Google review
Constructed in 1729 by Dattajirao Angre, the fort played a pivotal role in maritime defense during the Maratha Empire. It was under the control of the renowned Maratha naval commander Kanhoji Angre for an extended period. Despite attempts by the British East India Company to capture it, the fort remained under Maratha control until April 1818, when it was seized I / British forces under Colonel Imlack Experience:- Devgad Fort is a serene destination for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. The fort's location provides breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea, making it an ideal spot for photography and sunset watching. The surrounding area is known for its coconut and mango plantations, particularly the famous Devgad Alphonso mangoes, adding to the region's allure Accessibility: The fort is approximately 2 kilometers from Devgad Beach and about 100 kilometers from Ratnagiri. The nearest railway station is Kankavli on the Konkan Railway line, located around 38 kilometers away.

Sri Kanakaditya Temple is approximately 900 year old Kanakaditya sun temple in Kasheli, a very small village in Rajapur, Ratnagiri. Sri Kanakaditya Temple is one of the few temples situated in Maharashtra that is dedicated to the Sun God. The main idol installed here is over 800 years old and is made out of the black stone. Sri kanakaditya temple is very close to mahakali temple in adivare. The temple had a bright historical background. The black stone idol of Sun God was brought from Prabhas Patan Sun temple in Gujarat 800 years before. According to the legend, it was secretly transported in a boat from the Prabhas Patan temple during Alauddin Khilji's attack in 1296 AD. Once the boat reached Kasheli coast it stopped moving. The boatman left the idol in a cave on the Kasheli coast where it was found by a great devotee of the Sun called Kanaka. Visit time: approximately half hour.

Shri Kanikaditya Mandir, located in Kasheli village of Rajapur Taluka, Ratnagiri district, Maharashtra, is a highly revered temple dedicated to Surya, the Sun God. The black stone idol of Lord Kanakaditya, originally brought from Gujarat’s Prabhas Pattan Sun Temple during a time of invasion over 800 years ago, is the presiding deity and central focus of worship at this ancient spiritual center. Apart from the main sanctum of the Sun God, the temple complex also features smaller shrines dedicated to deities like Lord Ganesha and Goddess Mahakali, blending local Konkani traditions into its daily rituals. The temple’s architecture is authentic Konkani, built primarily from laterite stone and intricately carved teak wood, creating a warm and inviting ambiance for devotees. The Kanakaditya Rathotsav, or annual Jatra, is celebrated with great enthusiasm each year during Ratha Saptami (Magh month, January-February). The festivities span several days and feature a grand chariot procession, spiritual discourses, kirtans, and vibrant community participation. Having served as a center of Sun worship for more than eight centuries, Shri Kanikaditya Mandir stands as a unique testament to Konkan’s enduring devotion and rich architectural heritage.

Shri Kanakaditya Temple in Maharashtra dedicated to the Sun God. it's a very peaceful place , we visited this place in morning so no rush in temple ,The temple had a bright historical background. The black stone idol of Sun God was brought from Prabhas Pattan Sun temple in Gujarat 800 years ago. According to the legend, it was secretly transported in a boat from the Prabhas Pattan temple during Allauddin Khilji's attack in 1296 AD. Once the boat reached the Kasheli coast it stopped moving. The boatman left the idol in a cave on the Kasheli coast where it was found by a great devotee of the Sun called Kanaka. She built this temple with laterite stone and mud near the cave. Shri Kanakaditya Temple is a very famous spiritual place. Many devotees from all over India visit the temple every year. It is known for the 5-day Rath Festival with its famous silver chariot-led procession during Ratha Saptami. Many spiritual programs like Kirtan, Pravachan, Aarti, Palakhi etc. are organized during the festival period.

A good temple, one of the rarest sun temples in India. Small place but nicely maintained. Good parking outside. Have toilets. Inside good legs wash area, few other small temples
Amit K — Google review
This temple is situated at Kasheli village of Rajapur Taluka of Ratnagiri district, Maharashtra and is about 55 km away from Ganpatipule. This is very old temple and believed to be more than 1000 yrs old. A village lady namely Kanka is believed to have found out an idol of lord Suryanarayan at Kasheli beach cave thus, this temple is named as Kanka+Aditya = Kankaditya. This is one of the rare temples where entry to the temple is not facing the entry from its compound. Here the temple trustee, Mr. Bhagvat will fondly explain you the history and how the temple was repaired and put to the present form.

Nestled just 25 km from Ratnagiri, Purnagad Fort is a charming historical site that offers a glimpse into the past. Once a strategic base for Kanhoji Angre's naval operations against British forces, this fort is believed to have been constructed by the legendary King Shivaji. The journey to Purnagad involves a scenic 20-minute trek through the quaint village of Purnagad, where you'll encounter a welcoming temple at the entrance.
It's beautiful fort..near Arabic sea..in konkan..you get spectacular view of sea and beach..also beach is little rockey..so watching sunset will be great..also it's untouched and Little offbeat...you will surely enjoy your time here...adding few reference images
Sneha K — Google review
The fort is in good condition I would say but the maintenance can be better. Most of the stairs are full of grass. The view of the ocean from here is great
San S — Google review
Beautiful, clean, well maintained historical fort. The fort seems to be redone recently which adds to the beauty but the rework is quite visible. You do a 20min trek to this fort thru the Purnagad village, theres a temple at the entrance. Theres a newly built road for cars but seems the trekking is difficult from there. The view from the fort is just too beautiful, you can just sit there whole day looking at the sea. Ive been told that its called Purnagad because it was the last fort built by Shivaji Maharaj.
Francis S — Google review
A very well maintained and we'll built fort. Even after centuries the fort has distinct and visible features so great for educational tours. Four wheelers might not be able to but bikes can reach the top though the road is very bad. No guides are available at the place but if you have prior knowledge, it's a great place to show with a breathtaking view from the top
Avadhoot A — Google review
Great view and easy, just the maps is not showing the new road. And stairs are slippery in rains.
Prasad K — Google review
A picturesque site must visit, fort is surrounded by sea. Reaching there is easy
Rohit D — Google review
The ASI department has done a great job in restoring this fort. The fort on looks the arabian sea, and the view is just breathtaking. Visited during the monsoon season and got to witness the bright green creeper and grass growing between the stones give a beautiful contract of rugged and strong stone fortification and delicate flowers. A new path/road is currently being made till the entrace for vehicles, but the road work is not complete, it traces the sea on one side, so its a stunning off-road drive for now. Would recommend to reach early in the morning or later during sunset time to avoid harsh sun.
Shreyash G — Google review
I loved the rustic appeal of this really old fort. Though this is in ruins, but the view from here which is up the hill overlooking the sea is really fabbbb and to die for. This fort can be reached after a small hike of 15-20 minutes up the hill...

Ganeshgule Beach is a tranquil and secluded stretch of rocky, white sandy terrain flanked by mountains on both sides. It offers stunning panoramic views of the sunset and is perfect for nature lovers looking to escape hectic schedules. Visitors can also explore the Ganeshgule Temple with its ancient well. The beach is known for its safety for swimming, clean waters, and soft sand. It's an ideal spot for families, offering facilities like bathrooms and shops.
Ganeshgule Beach, Ratnagiri – A Hidden Coastal Paradise If you're looking for a peaceful and untouched beach away from the crowds, Ganeshgule Beach in Ratnagiri is a perfect choice! This hidden gem offers pristine golden sands, crystal-clear waters, and a serene environment, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and unwinding in nature. One of the best things about this beach is its cleanliness and lack of commercialization. Unlike other popular beaches, it remains less crowded, allowing you to enjoy the natural beauty without disturbances. The sunset views here are breathtaking, painting the sky with mesmerizing shades of orange and pink—truly a sight to behold! However, keep in mind that Ganeshgule Beach is located in a remote area, so there are limited food stalls and facilities nearby. It's best to carry your own food, water, and essentials. Also, mobile network connectivity can be weak, making it a perfect place to disconnect and soak in the beauty of nature. Reaching the beach requires a bit of a drive through a peaceful coastal village, but the journey is absolutely worth it. The tranquility, clear waters, and fresh sea breeze make it an unforgettable experience. Whether you're a nature lover, a photography enthusiast, or just someone looking for a break from city life, Ganeshgule Beach is a must-visit!

This lesser-known beach is perfect for those seeking peace and natural beauty. With fewer visitors, it offers a calm atmosphere and a stunning view of a nearby mountain, which can also be climbed for breathtaking scenery. The beach is clean, with soft sand and gentle waves, ideal for a relaxing stroll. There are only a few food stalls, but they serve simple and tasty snacks. If you love quiet beaches with scenic views and a touch of adventure, this is a must-visit spot.
Subhrajyoti M — Google review
I read so many reviews about this beach being very clean and "pristine". So much of garbage on the beach is disappointing. The place is secluded and is very quiet. Perfect destination but destroyed by insensitive people throwing garbage everywhere.

Ganeshgule Beach in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, captivates with its serene beauty. Its golden sands meet crystal-clear Arabian Sea waters, dotted with striking white rocky patches. Fringed by lush greenery and small hillocks, the beach offers breathtaking, uninterrupted ocean views. Vibrant sunrises and sunsets paint the sky in vivid hues, creating a tranquil, almost untouched coastal paradise perfect for quiet reflection.

I recently visited Ganeshgule Beach, and it was an absolute paradise! The pristine shores, crystal-clear waters, and picturesque surroundings made for a perfect day out. The beach was clean, well-maintained, and had a serene atmosphere. I enjoyed every moment of my visit, from relaxing on the sand to taking a refreshing dip in the ocean. This is the best beach to sit n relax! Even to play in the water. Kind of hidden beach, so there are very less ppl on the beach.
Suvas W — Google review
A clear, fairly isolated beach, known for its pristine waters and silver white sand. We went just before sunset and there was a gentle breeze around the water. The beach has a unqiue topography and a serene atmosphere. Definitely recommended until people discover the place and start crowding it. The road to get there can be a bit of a headache, though.

Very very poor quality of mango. Ordered 5 dozen. Of which maximum of 10 to 12 were edible rest were all rotten or had strong taste of pesticides. Replacement offered was 2 doz box which came with the tiniest, rawest mangoes I have ever seen. Very poor experience. Will not order again even if they come free.

I was on a quest to find best alphonsos on my trip to ratnagiri and reached out to shrinathji after a little research on google , they didn’t disappoint me at all. The taste and quality of mangoes are awesome.if there’s a problem finding the location, just give them a call and they’ll guide you. They actually follow up with their customers to know the reviews and you can always get them delivered to your hometown as well.

I want to bring attention to a very unprofessional and unethical experience. We booked this person's bike rental service, which has no connection to his mango selling business. However, he took our phone without permission and gave his mango business a 5-star rating from our account — without our consent. On top of that, he was very rude in his behavior. This kind of conduct is highly unprofessional and raises serious concerns about trust. Please be cautious when dealing with him.

Seafood restaurant

Hotel Amantran offers a spacious and comfortable seating area with prompt service, serving a variety of cuisines from Mushroom Fried Rice to Tandoori Prawns Rice. The restaurant is known for its authentic Fish thali, featuring fish curry, shrimp curry, and other delicacies like dagol and jumbo surmai pieces. It's highly recommended for seafood enthusiasts as the flavors are well-balanced without being overly spicy.
It is truly a wonderful establishment, offering some of the finest seafood experiences available. The quality of the dishes served here is consistently impressive. You can expect a delightful culinary journey with every visit. It's a place that certainly stands out among the local dining options. We highly recommend it for anyone seeking exceptional seafood.
Mohammed U — Google review
The food here was absolutely delicious! Every item on the thali was flavorful and well-prepared, especially the fried fish and the gravies – really hit the spot. The presentation was also neat and appetizing. The only downside was that the prices are a bit on the higher side, but the quality and taste make it worth trying. Definitely a great place for a hearty, flavorful meal.
Jotiba M — Google review
This has to be the BEST seafood thali restaurant ever! Having tried thalis in iconic restaurants across Maharashtra, none can beat the one Hotel Amantran offers. This was our second visit on our trip. The food quality and quantity justify the price. They are faultless! We tried: 1. Surmai thalli 2. Bombil thali 3. Chicken thali 4. Prawns fry 5. Bombil fry My personal favourites are fish curries, chicken biryani, bombil fry, and solkadi. The meat is also cooked to perfection! You can ask them to show the fish before ordering. The staff is courteous and patiently guides you with the order. Ambience is great however, it could have been beneficial to have more comfortable seating instead of the wooden chairs. Nonetheless, the sofa seating is good. If only they could have better and separate washrooms for men and women. For a hotel like this, a below average washroom was not expected. I hope the management makes a note of it. They have ample parking space in the lane next to the hotel too. Highly recommend going here especially if you are a seafood lover.

Food was good, not that great as mentioned in past reviews. Reason behind 11k reviews - Reviews should come out of you genuinely and Manager asks from the hotel for the simple and great reviews from every customer and stands on your head until you post it. We order Cold drink, it was outdated with no fizz and when we asked to replaced manager says we can’t as we bought it from out. On the name of Aam Raass we were served Mango Artificial Pulp. Service is not even at the par, so don’t expect much !! Rest up to you , All the best !! This was my experience..
Uday S — Google review
My Experience at Hotel Amantran, Ratnagiri: The overall experience at Hotel Amantran was good — the ambience and food quality were decent, and the service was satisfactory. However, I personally felt that the pricing was on the higher side compared to what you actually get. It’s a nice place, but not quite worth the amount you end up paying for.
Pranav K — Google review
Honestly, I would rate it 1 star for value for money. A jumbo thali has 2 curries but would have been good to have a masala item and 1 curry instead. The fish fry was oilier than other places. I have been eating fish all around the coast and much better but this was a tad disappointed. Strictly average.

*******NEVER VISIT TO WASTE YOUR MONEY******* Most useless food ever ate in this Restaurant. We went here after saw the 4.4 Google reviews. We travelled 30KMs for this worst food. We tried all types of food like fish, chicken, mutton, simply, egg, panjabi but not a single dish was worth it as per price/quantity. Quantity also very very less. No taste and all the items were looks like 3-4 days before they prepared(No Taste) and today they served us. But, we had the food at 7PM. No Good manners from waiter & hotel management. We commented multiple times about the food taste, quality&quality but not a single response from management. We were very hungry and waited 20-30mins for this bad food. 🤮 Price was too high and not based on the dish. It's looks like they decided based on their dream. Completely we wasted around ₹6000/- No hate for the Hotel but shared the real experience how they wasted our money. Thanks!
Deb — Google review
It's okay , people have overhyped it. Food was not bad but was not the best either. 1000₹ Pomphret (paplet) thali was costly considering the taste it offered. Modak served was cold. Definitely not coming back again after wasting money. It's okay to charge for quality but there's a limit. The staff can't handle weekend craze No proper parking is one more setback

Exceptional Dining Experience! We recently had the pleasure of dining at this outstanding restaurant, and it exceeded our expectations in every way! The service was top-notch, the seating was comfortable, and the food... oh, the food! We ordered an array of dishes, including Masala Papad, Veg Manchow Soup, Veg Kothimbir, Paneer Tikka Masala, Dal Tadaka, Jeera Rice, and Tandoor Roti. Each bite was a masterclass in flavor and texture. Standouts included: - Veg Kothimbir: A creamy, expertly balanced delight featuring coriander leaves, paneer, green peas, and a hint of magic. - Paneer Tikka Masala: Literally mouthwatering, with tender paneer in a rich. - Dal Tadaka: Elevated by the subtle richness of pure desi ghee, this dal was a revelation. We highly, highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking an exceptional dining experience. We can't wait to return on our next trip.

One of the best vegeterian restaurants in Ratnagiri !! Even locals at Ratnadurg fort suggested to visit Mithila for our dinner. We tried North Indian food it was great. It was bit spicy & greasy. We ordered Kaju masala & Chhole. They have got seating space, but still we had to wait for 15-20 mins for our turn. Found people ordering different thalis & food like south indian.
