Quinta do Santo da Serra is a superb leisure area located in the town center, featuring a world-class golf club designed by architect Robert Trent Jones Senior. The park boasts beautiful tall trees, blooming flowers, and an observation deck with stunning views of the mountains and ocean. Families can enjoy walking trails, animal enclosures with peacocks, mini deer, mountain goats, and horses. There are also mini-golf facilities and various benches for relaxation.
Small, but very nice and clean park, where you can also feed some animals in the shelters. A nice observation deck, nice to take a chance and visit before sunrise.

Lovely park and garden area with something for everyone! 🌳🦌 Quinta do Santo da Serra is a peaceful escape surrounded by nature, offering a mix of beautiful viewpoints, big trees (including eucalyptus), and plenty of open space to wander. The air is fresh, the atmosphere calm, and the scenery makes it a perfect place for a relaxing walk. One of the highlights is the animals — you’ll find deer, ducks, peacocks, and other birds roaming around, which makes it especially fun for families with children. The park is well-kept and full of charm, with big old trees providing shade and creating a really pleasant atmosphere. There’s also a viewpoint inside the park with wonderful views over the mountains and coastline.

It was a wonderful surprise during my stay in Madeira. There was no problem with parking at all, and the whole area is beautifully maintained. It was very peaceful, with hardly any people around, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The views are absolutely stunning — a must-see if you’re on the island. I would recommend bringing some warmer clothes though, as it can get quite chilly up there.
Magdalena B — Google review
Lovely kept gardens with forest and with mini golf and lovely view point at the end would recommend to anyone also they have animals for family trip it's perfect 👌
Daniel P — Google review
Unexpectedly beautiful place! We entered the park without no to little expectations and were very surprised how well-kept, big and pretty this park is. It is very calm, there are various benches around to just chill and enjoy the silence among trees. You can find various animals and also a very nice viewing point at the end of the park. There is enough space for sports too and it includes also a minigolf, however, not sure how to get access to the golf clubs and balls. I found this place very peaceful and definitely a hidden gem of Madeira!
Petra K — Google review
Here is what I want to say about the animals in this park. The idea of locking up animals is very outdated — it’s animal cruelty. Give them proper conditions! Deer need a habitat that includes a forest area, where they can have shade and live closer to natural conditions. Right now, they are under the sun in an open cage. Would you like that for yourself? As for the birds and ducks — create a proper pond and they will come to live in the park on their own, there’s no need to lock them in cages. Peacocks walk freely at the hotel across the street — so why not do the same here? Also, regarding people saying that animals can be fed — do you even know with what? Is special food provided? Or do you think cookies are fine? Animals must not be fed randomly — they can get sick from it! And this also needs to be monitored. I didn’t see anyone in the park checking whether the animals are doing well. In general, teach your children properly — to respect animals, not to feed them whatever they want, not to invade their space, and not to lock them in cages.

We loved this little but big park in the middle of nowhere. We started to walk it and realized that we wanted to have a picnic and relax so we went out to a local guy making bread and some type of stuff bread and went back in and relaxes for almost 2 hours. The hourse and deer was a lot of fun. Kids playing and just a happy place.
Ryan S — Google review
Beautiful park for picnics. Amazing nature.very peaceful. The conditions of the animals are very sad and heartbreaking. No caretaker in sight, no safety for them either. We saw a baby deer with just hours and no one to call and get veterinarian assistance.

Amazing golf course in the mountains above Madeira. Unmatched views. A difficult and hilly international championship course. Very challenging for beginners. We loved our round but did not keep the scorecard!

I had a golf lesson with João Pedro, he was a really great teacher. The course was amazing and the views were just stunning. Really recommend getting a lesson if you’re not yet comfortable going on the course by yourself!

Fantastic golf club in Madeira. Golf course with 27 holes. Very well managed and the greens are immaculate. The views are simply the best. If you a beginner or a pro am golfer you have to try this club. The clubhouse and proshop is great. I will be back very soon.

Sat in the hilltops of Madeira sits this stunning five star golf course. Made up of 3 nine holes courses - with all different difficulties you can choose from! The greens and fairways are stunning with not a mark on them. The views are simply exemplary! It is a must play for the keen and ambitious golfer. Excellent clubhouse which can cater for many people. Great for any event etc.

An unforgettable experience!!! I played today, the first 9 holes with my 82-year-old father for the very first time, and it was a day we’ll never forget. We played best ball and finished an amazing -7. The course is beautiful, with 27 holes divided into three different layouts — all perfectly maintained. After our round, we were invited to lunch to celebrate my father’s birthday, and they even surprised us with a birthday cake! The service from everyone was simply outstanding — from the reception to the course staff, everyone was so kind and attentive. A special mention to Jean Claude, who took wonderful care of us at the restaurant. And I highly recommend trying the Madeiran-style swordfish — it was absolutely delicious! Without a doubt, a must-visit if you’re in Madrid. Thank you for such a wonderful birthday experience with my father — we will never forget this day. Big hug to the whole team!

As a beginners we really enjoyed the course - we didn’t have much time so played only the serras course. The staff were very helpful and kind. Pricewise - we got a summer sale deal - clubs, buggy and green fee for 18 holes for two person and was 250€ (you should call them beforehand if they still have it). Would recommend it for everybody!

I was here like a guest( I don't play) . Golf club with incredibly stunning views of the islands. A green, huge territory. On the territory there is a shop selling clothes and golf equipment. There is also a restaurant where you can try local cuisine. The restaurant has a bar where you can drink coffee with dessert.

Located in the Laurel Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site, Parque Ribeira Primeira is situated in Santo Antonio da Serra and offers an immersive nature experience. The park gets its name from being the initial source of Ribeira de Santa Cruz. Visitors can enjoy trout fishing and have their catch prepared at the outdoor dining area using wood fire. Guests have praised the delicious meals made from freshly caught fish and complimented the friendly staff and pleasant ambiance of the park.
You can catch your own trout, so you will definitely eat fresh fish. We liked it very much having lunch here, alongside the fish you will receive salad, potatoes and some bread with some delicious butter aside. The ambient and the food...extraordinary, totally worth to try. Regarding the price, it was 40€ for 2 people, including here a beer and a delicious lemonade.

Unique place to catch your own fish, see it get prepared and of course enjoy the fresh prepared meal in a beautiful eco friendly place. The staff are very welcoming and provide a lot of interesting facts. Don’t miss this opportunity and don’t worry about the short gravel road leading to it.

The place, the service and the food were incredible. It is a place where you must go with a reservation and even when I went without knowing about it, the employees treated me very well and managed to get me a table. 100% recommended, I will definitely come back to this place.
Daniel M — Google review
What a great place to visit! Recommend organising a taxi due to location in woods. Catch own trout, watch it be prepared and BBQ then relax in traditional cabin in keeping with the environment. As part of price receive a free drink & drink with meal. Cafe great. Absolutely perfect family visit.

Restaurant
Restaurante Snack Bar Faísca is a charming spot nestled in beautiful surroundings, offering delicious food and friendly service. Guests have raved about the tomato soup, meat skewers, black scabbard fish with fried banana and passionfruit sauce, as well as the Acorda soup. The menu also features bolo do caco, steak sandwiches, grilled fish, garlic bread, veggie cream soup, corn side dishes and more.
Perfect lunch after doing the levada hike nearby. People have complained about the wait, but we got there at 12:30, and our barbecue for two came 30 minutes later: a delicious mix of pork, chicken, lamb, and beef, with steamed veggies instead of their usual chips. I capped it off with a slice of tarte nata (a custard cake) and cortado madeirense (madeiran wine + orzo/coffee + lemon rind). The restaurant doesn’t have views but is still a nice spot with a mountain chalet type of vibe.

The best prego we had on the island! Very tasty tomato soup, it felt comforting in the cold of Ribeiro Frio. Nice staff, recommended a delicious almond tart with caramel.

I stopped here with my husband around 7:15pm even though they close at 7pm and they still sat us down and provided food. Food, drinks, service, and atmosphere was awesome. We got the octopus and bread soup and both were great. We came back a second time to get coffee and poncha and they were so friendly and remembered us. I would def come back again.

Amazing Sopa de tomate e cebolla and Prego! Very cute and cozy restaurant perfect after a morning of hiking

The atmosphere felt warm and welcoming, and the staff were attentive without being intrusive. The food was fresh, flavorful, and nicely presented. The Apple pie was incredible . 100/100 . Home food on your table .

We waited for more than an hour for our food, and when it finally arrived, it was a huge disappointment. The fish was tasted bad, the meat was undercooked and rubbery, and the side dishes were completely careless and tasteless. Overall, a terrible experience definitely not worth the time or money.
Barbora K — Google review
We ordered sandwiches with beef. We found a skin of the whole garlic clove inside. The meet had a lot of veins in it. Furthermore, the restaurant is understaffed and as a result the staff was completely not interested what was happening in the restaurant.
