Cafe Du Monde

Cafe Du Monde is a must-visit destination in New Orleans, renowned for its delicious café au laits and iconic beignets since 1862. This charming café draws both locals and tourists alike, who flock to savor the melt-in-your-mouth pastries dusted with powdered sugar. While some may opt for the glitz of nearby casinos, many prefer the laid-back atmosphere of Cafe Du Monde, where they can enjoy their treats amidst the vibrant energy of the city.
Cafe Du Monde: Where Touristy Transcends into Timeless Yes, yes, I know. Nothing screams “I Googled ‘must-eat in New Orleans’” louder than Cafe Du Monde. It’s the Eiffel Tower of fried dough. The Statue of Liberty of chicory. The Times Square of powdered sugar. But hear me out: sometimes the cliché is a classic for a reason. We came for the beignets and chicory coffee, and left with powdered sugar in our hair, hearts full, and a renewed belief in the magic of the obvious. The beignets? Pillowy, golden, and unapologetically dusted like they were trying to erase all memory of low-carb living. Each bite was a soft jazz solo, sweet, warm, and just a little bit cheeky. The chicory latte? Earthy, bold, and comforting, like a hug from a caffeinated swamp witch who’s seen things and wants you to know it’ll all be okay. And despite the reputation for lines longer than a CVS receipt, we walked right in. No wait. No chaos. Just a table, a tray, and the kind of service that says, “We’ve done this a million times, and we still care.” Our server was swift, kind, and knew exactly how to wield a tray of beignets like a seasoned pastry ninja. Outside, the sky opened up in a theatrical downpour, because of course it did. Our last hours in New Orleans deserved a dramatic curtain call. And right on cue, a saxophone player appeared under the awning, playing something smooth and wistful, like the soundtrack to a sepia-toned montage of love and powdered sugar. My wife and I sat there, sipping, smiling, and silently agreeing that this was the kind of moment you don’t try to improve. You just live it. Was it touristy? Absolutely. But it was also excellent. And if excellence happens to come with a side of mass appeal and a gift shop, so be it. I’ll take it. We’ll be back. Not just for the beignets, but for the reminder that sometimes the most obvious choice is also the most delicious. And next time, I might even wear white, just to see how much powdered sugar I can get away with.
Maciek M — Google review
We visited Café Du Monde at the iconic Jackson Square location, having read all the positive reviews about their beignets. Location & Food (3/5 Stars): The location is unbeatable—right next to Jackson Square. The beignets were, as advertised, very good and a must-try New Orleans dessert. The coffee was fine, standard New Orleans coffee. Service (0/5 Stars): This is where the experience falls apart. Our server approached and immediately asked, "Do you guys want beignets? How many?" and then rudely walked away mid-sentence before we could finish deciding. The attitude was appalling. Even after we did place our order (two of the same item), she was so inattentive that she misunderstood a simple request and brought us two different versions. While not a major issue, it was yet another clear indication of her lack of focus. We waited 5-10 minutes for her return. I observed similar rude, dismissive behavior from servers at other tables. To top it off, after dropping off the order, our server waited right next to our table explicitly for a tip despite the terrible service. Practical & Legal Concerns: 1- CASH ONLY: Be prepared. This is a cash-only place. 2-No Receipts: A major concern is that they do not issue receipts, even when requested. This, combined with the servers constantly walking around counting wads of cash, suggests they may not be properly reporting their earnings and could be operating illegally. This is highly unprofessional and tacky. Conclusion: While the beignets are a New Orleans staple, I would never suggest a friend go here. The combination of rude service and shady business practices outweighs the historic location and decent food. There are plenty of other fantastic local spots to get beignets and coffee with an infinitely better experience.
Alper Y — Google review
Definitely the iconic spot it is heralded for. Beignets were amazing. The frozen café au lait is a perfect pairing. The jazz music outside really sets a vibe for the puffs of powdered sugar as you bite into your Beignets. Its the standard and sets the bar. Start here and then try the others. Seat yourself and someone will come to you. Sometimes that takes longer than you want. Cash only but open 24hrs!!!
Ray P — Google review
What can you say about Café Du Monde? It’s iconic for a reason. The beignets are absolutely incredible — hot, fresh, perfectly crisp on the outside with a light, airy chew on the inside, and piled high with powdered sugar. I went on a busy Sunday morning and was lucky to get a seat right away, and the service was surprisingly quick given how chaotic it can get. The restaurant is very casual and crowded, with cramped tables and chairs, and the waitstaff are constantly on the move. The restrooms are limited and not the nicest, but it’s a casual spot, and the prices reflect that. I was so impressed that I went back the next day — these beignets are truly worth a visit to New Orleans on their own. I’ve been dreaming about them for years, and they exceeded every expectation. Absolutely phenomenal. 100% recommend to anyone visiting the city.
Chloe — Google review
Heads up : it’s cash only, no cards accepted! That said, this place is a true New Orleans classic. Super retro vibe, often with live musicians playing nearby, which makes the whole experience even better. And the beignets? Wowwww! absolutely delicious! Of course we recommend it!
Sabrina S — Google review
We had to visit cafe de monde, it is an institution. Super busy any time of day. Beignets are related to donuts, but not as flavorful. They are covered with heap of powered sugar, so they very messy. I saw very few people that were not covered with white powder. To stay relatively clean you have to shake off the powder first, you still get a lot of sweetness as some of it heats up and melts onto the dough. The bathroom experience was memorable. There is a long line, and there is a bathroom director who tells the next person to enter one of two bathrooms (both are either/or ) bathroom. They are the size of the air plane bathroom, dirty, with wet floor. There are no paper towels, but one can use toilet paper to dry the hands. It is an experience I will remember. P.s. cash only. A plate with thee and 2 coffees were 15 dollars.
Julie's B — Google review
Cafe Du Monde is the quintessential touristy place of New Orleans. If you don't visit, did you even go to The Big Easy? Beignets and coffee are the name of the game here. The beignets are coated with enough powdered sugar to tempt the Narcotics Unit to throw you behind bars. Will you find better tasting beignets in the area? For sure. But will you eat them in a place as historical and nostalgic as the city itself? Heck no! The main thing to know is this place is cash only. Also, you can purchase one of the server hats and get the cheapest souvenir in the French Market. I've eaten here early morning and late at night, and it's truly a toss-up on which vibes I liked better. In the end, you can't go wrong.
Dalton A — Google review
I've long heard that you have to get there SUPER early to get in line to get beignets. We went here twice and did not have to wait either time to sit down. I figured it was time of year or time of day (once was around dinner time in the evening and the other was around mid-day). Service was quick and the beignets were delicious as was the cafe au lait. Both times we visited, there was live music just outside of the patio. We didn't stick around too long after we were done, so can't speak to anything else. Would I go back here? Sure!

Ate at the New Orleans culinary school. We enjoyed the cooking demonstration and the food was very good. The staff was fun and educational. Bought the class pack seasoning and cook book. Looking forward to trying the recipes at home.

It okay if you like red beans and rice... I'm originally from the South, and it's not one of my favorites. I became I'll shortly after eating a small piece of bread pudding. I was not a fan of the cuisine. However, the wait staff was very kind and professional.

You most definitely need to check these shops out while your in NOLA. They are so much bigger than they look from the outside and they are outlets, so prices are on point! I picked up some gifts for my fur baby at the Southern Paw located inside.

Stopped by here while in New Orleans it it was a pretty big place with a few shops, places to eat, and it also has restrooms. For people saying it is a tourist trap it was very slow when we went.. Not a bad thing though it allowed us to see more although some of the shops were also closed at the time. Would forsure check it out again if everything was open

Napoleon House is a historic establishment located in an 18th-century building, offering a relaxed atmosphere and classic Creole dishes. The menu features iconic New Orleans staples such as Muffulettas, Po' Boy sandwiches, and their specialty muffaletta with house-made Italian olive salad. The venue's European-styled flair and shady courtyard provide the perfect setting to immerse oneself in NOLA history while enjoying renowned Pimm's Cup cocktails.
The food was DELICIOUS! You could taste the culture in the food. Each bite was better than the last. My friends and I each ordered something different so we could taste as much of the menu as possible. I would definitely recommend this as a must visit to anyone in New Orleans!

Went for husband’s birthday lunch on a Monday around 230pm. Took a bit to get seated. Several filled tables. Server efficiently took our order but kinda went missing for ice tea and water refills. Food was good to great. We got the spinach and artichoke dip appetizer. Husband loved it but it was so garlicky I couldn’t eat it. If you are garlic intolerant, skip this dish! My shrimp remoulade stuffed avocado salad was fantastic. Didn’t know the bread was garlic bread, lol! Husband’s 1/2 muffuletta sandwich was as good as always. It was a nice lunch, but we’ve had better experiences here. Will be back, of course.

Honestly, I don't understand the high rating of this place. Google Maps says it's a restaurant, but the food is of a cafe standard. The dining room is very dark, stuffy, and hot—only the fans were working. We moved to the courtyard ourselves—at least there was some light. The tables are very small, it's hard to fit three of us, even though the table was for four. The dishes are about the same as appetizers, with a lot of them coming with bread—sandwiches, po'boys, etc. We tried the famous Muffaletta salad. Something tells me it would be delicious with real Italian salami or prosciutto. But here it's a C. The gator sausage was also questionable. The cannoli was delicious. But I liked Victoria's pastry shop better.
Victoria S — Google review
We got seated fairly quickly and we're tucked into a little corner which in the front room. Although a little warm we weren't surprised with that since it is older historical building. We started with the charcuterie board and a pimm's flight. Both were very good. We were surprised we enjoyed the one with gin as neither of us were fans of gin normally. The tomato jam was a great addition to the different cheeses and meats. We then ordered the muffaletta sandwich and salad. The sandwich is served warmed. I originally was worried the bread was too thick it was not and was perfectly delicious. The salad was a good portion and was also very good although it does have an extra something that is different than the sandwich. We would easily order everything again and enjoyed our first dinner to NOLA ...we also left full but not miserable full. Thanks for an enjoyable dinner
Amanda — Google review
🫒 A must order - their warm muffuletta sandwich! 🍅 For drinks, definitely order their homemade Bloody Mary (actually two - because it’s so good!) 🥮 Save room for dessert - their warm bread pudding is one of the best! Other Notes - service was fast, removed a star because our server was grouchy. Jambalaya was “meh” compared to many other places in NOLA. Napoleon House (built 1797) is a historic French Quarter restaurant in NOLA. Fun Fact: the building was once the residence of New Orleans Mayor Nicholas Girod, who planned to offer it as a refuge for Napoleon.
Sheri L — Google review
Busy during lunch hours, but no wait if you don't mind sitting as the bar. Both the muffaletta and the alligator sausage po boy were extremely good with different flavor profile. They came really fast too. I wish I could have more. But the drink we ordered was a joke. Don't waste your money on the Pimm's cup.
XY Y — Google review
There is a reason this place is so busy, it's reasonable value with really eats. The warm muffaletta is not only unique but really good on its own. Their po boy is totally on point. The place is historic, and lived in, not pretentious. Totally worth looking around in non-rush times. Pimms cup is a really nice cocktail to cool off a notch on a hot night/day.

St. Louis Cathedral is a grand church dating back to the 1700s, featuring stunning stained glass and a painted ceiling. In the mid-1800s, Baroness Micaela Almonester de Pontalba oversaw the rebuilding of the cathedral and initiated the construction of Pontalba Buildings in an effort to counteract development across Canal Street. The cathedral's white facade and sleek steeples dominate the square, flanked by historic structures like Cabildo and Presbytere.
Absolutely wonderful — I loved this trip! The cathedral was breathtaking, the riverboats were charming, and the whole coastal, festive atmosphere made the experience unforgettable. New Orleans truly has a magic of its own!
Joan P — Google review
Short Story: historically amazing and cool to go inside and experience. A must do simply for that reason. If you are catholic then it is a zero excuse trip inside. Skip if you are not into to historical places you will find it to just be an old church. For the rest of us, the place is run down and in need or repairs so there is a heavy written push for donations but not mandatory and no one is asking you directly. The stained glass windows are amazing to view. Most places importantly ( at least for me) you simply need to sit and release that which you need to.

Beautiful and iconic spot right in the heart of the French Quarter! I love how peaceful and holy it feels inside, even though there’s so much going on right outside. The interior design is gorgeous, and it’s nice and cool inside with the air conditioning. Best part — it’s free to visit! Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in New Orleans.

Being the oldest Catholic Cathedral in America. I must be here. In fact, it is one of the two reasons I want to be in NOLA. The Cathedral is beautiful and yet not so big. It is surprisingly look not as old as one expect it to be. I noticed that one part of the windows paint by the Sanctuary is peeling off. I prayed for it because I could only donate a little. I had a chance to make a confession. What a good feeling that was! Attended a mass at 12:05PM. They are on schedule. The priests homily was full of meaning and wisdom.

It's on all the bucket list's for a reason! It's a marvelous feat of art and architecture. I made my visit in the morning and it was a great time to visit, very quiet with not a lot of people there so I could take my time to soak up the artwork.

Jazz club
Preservation Hall, located in the French Quarter of New Orleans, is a historic venue dedicated to preserving and honoring the city's jazz tradition. Established in 1961, this no-frills space with wooden floors and minimal seating offers an intimate and authentic jazz experience. Despite its lack of air-conditioning, it continues to attract crowds eager to witness performances by the renowned Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
In the heart of the French Quarter in New Orleans lies Preservation Hall, a legendary venue dedicated to keeping the spirit of traditional New Orleans jazz alive. Since its founding in 1961, this humble space has been filled with the sound of live jazz every single night. There are no microphones, no flashy lights—just the raw energy of the musicians and the pure sound of their instruments. Seating is limited, and sometimes you’ll even find yourself sitting on the floor, but that only makes the experience more authentic and powerful. The resident Preservation Hall Jazz Band tours the world and is considered one of the cultural ambassadors of New Orleans. For any jazz lover, this place is nothing short of sacred. Thanks to its central location in the French Quarter, it’s easy to stop by while exploring the city—but with such limited seating, booking in advance is highly recommended. If you want to experience the true essence of New Orleans at night, Preservation Hall is the place to be.

I had the chance to experience Preservation Hall about ten years ago, and when I returned to New Orleans recently, I didn’t think twice about going back. It was just as amazing as I remembered! Great jazz venue, talented musicians, friendly staff. I highly recommend attending a concert here if you are visiting New Orleans. Sitting space fills up pretty quickly, so it’s best to purchase tickets in advance.

This was by far the most wonderful experience in such an unexpected way. It was truly authentic jazz music. We felt it in our soul and enjoyed it so much more than we ever expected. Highly recommend. We bought tickets about 2 weeks ahead of time and got to the hall about 30 minutes early. That worked out great.

Never fails to impress everytime I go. The setting is what makes it intimate. Accomodates a small group seated or standing. $25 to stand in the back for a 50 minute set in an atmosphere unlike any other is quite reasonable. An iconic must visit place for jazz/blues fans, or if you love music of any kind. Just pure beautiful acoustic music played for you, no mics or equipments. It's a experience like no other.
Rashmi B — Google review
This was the highlight of the trip. If tickets were available, I would have spent the money to go back. If you are a fan of joy and love music this is a must stop. In a little room, 6 musicians just absolutely bring it. We spent money on front row and in all honesty, it was a steal. The only unfortunate thing is they ask you not to photograph or video. Thankfully the memories will be in my head for as long as I have my brain functions. The musicians were awesome…but a special shout out to Ronell Johnson. Not only did he rule the trombone, but stuck around after the show for pictures and laughs until we were out the door. Such an awesome dude.

Wow!!! A must go in your New Orleans visit. The highlight of our family trip… What an amazing experience. We were there on Monday, August 11 for our twins birthday. The music was unforgettable… the band members were so warm, funny and TALENTED! We would love to hear them again. Really ANY seat is perfect because it is a small venue- very intimate. Thank you for making our evening so memorable.

Marie Laveau's House of Voodoo is a must-visit spot in New Orleans, located on the iconic Bourbon Street in the historic French Quarter. This unique museum and store is situated at the former home of Marie Laveau, the renowned Voodoo Queen of New Orleans. Since its opening in 1988, it has become a popular destination for both locals and tourists alike.
Beautiful shop. Serene vibes. Helpful staff. As a fae witch this was one of the most authentic shops I've been too in a very long time. Sad you couldn't take photos but understandable. Respect the art and craft.

I’m gonna be honest. The store was like eh. To me. Was in NOLA just a few hours, needed to get my friend something “spooky” thought yeah, voodoo shop why not. Mainly, it was just various voodoo dolls. I don’t know what I was expecting but a little more BUT staff was cool. She helped me find a spooky-ish voodoo doll. I didn’t want to break the bank, think about $40+ I dig magnets from my travels, so I got that. And the lively security officer I asked about food. Hey thank you for going above and beyond helping me find some local soul food! It’s the little things like that They said no photos, so I respected that (for once hahaha)
Nomes — Google review
It was an old building but nothing historical was provided. The items for purchase were all mass produced trinkets from Temu, mostly still inside their little plastic baggies. Photography inside was prohibited and an employee shouted very loudly at anyone taking pics. Yikes. All in all, it was an interesting and small shop to spend 15 mins of your time if you’re already nearby.
Jenn B — Google review
Take your time here. It takes multiple visits to see everything. Strength comes from you. You will find things here that help to focus and protect you. Or it's a fun tourist attraction. You'll always find something here. I have things around the house from a decade ago still hanging or in little spots around the house. I consider this place legit

Cool shop with lots of things to see and pay attention to if you’re willing and aware. It always amazes me how many people feel the need to touch things however. Give them a stop, and check em out! Also they’re currently selling their limited edition Halloween shirts. Very cool, grab one!

I did some research before we visited New Orleans and lots of great reviews come up for Philip at physic at Marie Laveaus. We had to check it out ! My boyfriend and I both made appointments with him and I was very impressed. I've never done anything like this island the whole experience was awesome. Phillip was very straight forward and to the point and also very very thorough. He made sure we got all our question answered and it wasn't rushed or commercialized. 10 out of 10 will deffinately be back!

Awesome stuff but the staff was actively trying NOT to sell anything ("why are you back here"- after security tells people to go to the back counter to pay). It seemed like the shop clerk was eating or talking in the back and didn't want to be disturbed but didn't close the shop). Plenty of other places to go on Bourbon with similar products.
Ryan V — Google review
A small shop that's definitely intriguing to look at. Don't forget to look up and see the beautiful ceiling. The store provides some interesting and funny merchandise. However, please don't waste your money like my friend and I did on a "reading" by Philip. 50$ for 30 minutes of total scam. I went first. My friend went second. We compared notes afterwards and Philip must have a script that he pulls out for women of a certain age. Our readings were identical. Almost verbatim. I'm not saying I'm a believer or not, but the House of Voodoo should have a psychic that at least tries. Shame on you, Philip.

Even the gentleman outside who was waving around the menu at us to bring us in. He won and we walked in. We are not disappointed. I ordered the half oysters and they gave me 8 of them. We also order the gator bites. They were a recommendation from Mesha and it was amazing! We also ordered the lighthouse martini and the bartender graciously heavy-poured and made it delicious! This is my second time to this town from California and I will gladly come back because of Mesha. Thank you!!

We came here on a whim, and I'll say the food was absolutely delicious! However, the service was very slow. I know it was busy and the restaurant is new, so we really cut them some slack. It was worth the wait and confusion because everything was good, and our waitress was so sweet!! I will say the old fashion we ordered was lacking on bitters. It tasted like whiskey and water. I think there's room for improvement, but ultimately, it is worth a stop. You can also sit on the balcony, and it makes for a great view!

Excellent service and food! The charbroiled oysters were great but the crawfish 🦞 was to die for! Thank you Eddie, Dustin, and Yaz for the amazing food and hospitality!

The food is absolutely amazing, the etouffle was perfect especially for those who like spicy. The music was absolutely great for those who like new wave music. Hush puppies are really good as well, atmosphere was great, not too crowded & staff was friendly.

DO NOT GO HERE!!! I don’t care how nice the bartender and doorman are. 1. They steal from you. The waitress added $20 dollars onto our already OUTRAGEOUS bill. We tipped cash and tipped fairly, but that wasn't enough i guess! 2. Why do I say outrageous price? BECAUSE THEIR FOOD IS ALMOST INEDIBLE! It was not anywhere near fine-dining quality they are charging for. I would’nt even pay fast food prices for it. 3. Before the waitress steals from you, they give you the worst, most unwelcoming service. No smile, dragging feet, and never around. TAKE THE HINT- The tables are empty for a reason. Wish we did!

Upon arrival for our first night in New Orleans we went to The Lighthouse Bourbon Street for dinner. While the bartender and owner were friendly and helpful, the service and atmosphere from the waitress, was appalling. She was tipped cash, for a bill that was for 4 people. I guess that wasn't enough for the thief in her as she added another $20.00 to our bill. I would NEVER eat there again, as the food was also horrible. Do not waste your time or your money. The "no wait" on a table should have been our first clue.

Seafood is so fresh and delicious. I love the way they cook. At night, this street is for walking, need to find parking (easy), about 10-15$/ 3hours for this area.

Restaurant
Cafe Maspero, located at 601 Decatur St., offers a casual dining experience in a charming brick-lined space with an old-world vibe. It's known for serving classic New Orleans fare at affordable prices, making it a great option for travelers on a budget. The menu features a wide variety of seafood platters, crawfish (in season), muffulettas, and traditional po-boys to satisfy various tastes.
We had a great experience here! We were walking around the French Quarter and decided to stop at Cafe Maspero. A very good decision! The staff is very friendly and helpful. At your service when you need them. My wife and I decided to split the Maspero's Chicken Sandwich with Primo Fries. The portion size is large enough for both of us to split and still be full. The flavors of the chicken sandwich were great! I'd definitely order the chicken sandwich again. If you get the fries, I highly suggest the Primo Fries. The smoked brisket chili, with the ham, cheese, and everything else is full of so much flavor. Filling too! I suggest giving Cafe Maspero a try! You won't be disappointed.

Very relaxed restaurant. We were sat at our table with a view of the kitchen by the GM. Mak was our server and she was cool and gave the recommendation for what I ordered, the Hot Roast Beef Sandwich with melted Swiss cheese. It was delicious. My partner ordered the Shrimp Po Boy and there was a generous amount of shrimp and the roll was fresh. After we finished our meal the GM told me they just revamped the recipe for the Hot Roast Beef Sandwich so now the gravy is warm when the sandwich is assembled. I felt like this was a good idea. I saw multiple people order the Hot Roast Beef Sandwich so it is definitely a popular choice. If you are looking for a chill spot to enjoy a delicious meal with attentive service you should dine at Cafe Maspero.

While visiting Galveston Tx we decided to find at a new place for dinner. We decided on Cafe Maspero and this was the best choice ever. Once we walked in the ambience was incredible. The place wasn't packed but it quickly filled up pretty fast during our time there. Once seated or server Sara F quickly came over to take our order. We decided too order the Seafood Platter which consisted of Fried Catfish, Fried Shrimp, Fried Calamri and French fries. The food was amazing and just perfect portions to share. Everything was Fried too perfection . The manager also came over to ask how was everything and I replied everything was awesome and delcious. I don't remember her name but she was very nice and awesome also. So if you're ever visiting New Orleans La check out Cafe Mespero located at 601 Decatur Street. You definitely wont be disappointed. You can thank me later

Creole restaurant
Tableau by Dickie Brennan & Co. is a classic French-Creole restaurant located in a 3-story townhouse with an open kitchen and balcony. Chef Ben Thibodeaux carefully crafts the menu, incorporating historical components of Creole cuisine to create authentic dishes. The restaurant offers various dining ambiances, including a courtyard, main dining room, drawing-room lounge, and balcony overlooking Jackson Square.
This restaurant offers a refined dining experience—from the crisp cloth napkins placed gently on your lap to the white tablecloths, fresh silverware with each course, and attentive staff in uniform and ties. A local warned us the service might disappoint, but that couldn't have been further from the truth. We started with flash-fried Brussels sprouts that were perfectly seasoned and crisp. My son ordered a breakfast dish he raved about, while I had a fresh salad topped with generous lump crab meat. My husband enjoyed pork and grits, which came in a hearty portion—much larger than our meals, which were on the smaller side. Their mocktail menu was a delightful surprise, the Bloody Mary was spicy and undrinkable and we ended our meal with dessert sorbet and upside down blueberry dessert. Every detail was well thought out, right down to the filtered water, which was noticeably clean and refreshing. Service was impeccable throughout. While portions vary and the price is around $50 per person, the experience felt worth it. I’d absolutely recommend it.

Our waitress Ashleigh was amazing. Super attentive and answered all our questions. Didn’t rush us at all either. We got the ribeye special and it was the best steak I’ve had. The creme brûlée is huge and easily shareable! Highly recommend!

Absolutely exquisite experience. We had a reservation for the Jazz Brunch. The space is gorgeous, and a jazz trio was playing live music. Delightful! Our table had a view of the courtyard and the open kitchen. Our server, Meg, was incredible. So professional and a real sweetheart! Honestly, the whole staff was terrific and seemed like a family. We each had a cocktail. My friend ordered the Just As Well, I got a Bloody Mary. Both were exceptional. We started with the Blue Crab Fondue. This was a stunner- creamy, crabby heaven. I had the Maison Salad and fell in love with the dressing. So delicious! I also had the Creole French Onion Soup, which was fantastic. My friend loved his Gulf Fish Sandwich. I tried the fries- handout (my favorite) and perfectly salted. We had planned to order dessert, but we were so full. No worries as it is something to look forward to on my next visit.

Five Stars for Tableau – and for James! We had the absolute pleasure of dining at Tableau in New Orleans for my birthday, and let me tell you, it was unforgettable. From the moment we were seated, our server James made us feel like we were being welcomed into a warm, elegant family home. His service struck the perfect balance of professional and personable: attentive without hovering, funny without overstepping, and somehow managing to anticipate our needs before we even knew we had them. Between the three of us, we sampled three appetizers, a soup, a salad, two entrées, and two desserts and James guided us through it all with ease, making great recommendations and making us feel like VIPs every step of the way. The food was absolutely delicious, but the real standout of the night was James. His energy and care elevated the entire experience and made it the highlight of my birthday trip to New Orleans. If you’re visiting the city and want a meal that feels special from start to finish, Tableau is the place — and if you’re lucky enough to get James as your server, you’re in for something truly exceptional.

I had the opportunity to visit this restaurant with my husband, daughter, and her boyfriend and we had an amazing time! To start, the hostess, Rashari, was friendly, kind, and courteous. While she was prepping to show us to our table, she acknowledged the next group that came in. (I hate when I arrive at an establishment and I am ignored. At least let me know you see me. Even if you dont seat me!) Anyway, she was great! She showed us to our seats and informed us that our waitress will be with us shortly. While we briefly waited for our waitress to arrive, I noticed the beautiful decor, the soft lighting, and the peaceful music Playlist that played in the background. It was a beautiful setting. Jessica, our waitress, came over and gave us the menu storyline! Her story telling was so, she swayed what we originally wanted to order! I have pictures to show our final choices. Jessica was funny, attentive, and personally, I think she was a mind reader! When we had a need, she just showed up with it! Amazing isn't a big enough word to describe her! She made our visit such a wonderful experience I look forward to a future visit! Ok, now let's talk about the food. The stars of the evening were the entrees. Although we ordered different dishes, we tried each other's dish and the top runners were my redfish (Gulf fish Almondine) and my husband's steak (Brandy Cream Coulotte)! The steak was so good his eyes seem to roll behind his head with ecstasy! My fish was satisfying and seasoned to perfection! We had two desserts, but my favorite was the Blueberry Upside-down Financier! Everything was great! A little warning, the website menu and what are in my pics do not match. We learned that the items will change seasonally, so have an open mind when you arrive and the menu is different from what you may see online.

It's in a great location off of Jackson Square. We stopped in for a quick lunch, had the gumbo and grilled shrimp. The gumbo was first rate, not my favorite of the trip but close. The grilled shrimp were also good.
Joshua R — Google review
To my surprise, the staff kindly accommodated my request to be seated on the balcony, even though the restaurant was quite busy that evening. I really appreciated that extra effort, especially as I was dining alone and sitting at a table in a prime location it made the experience feel very welcoming. I ordered the shrimp and grits with no sausage with a side of lump crab meat, and while everything was beautifully presented and rich in flavour, I realized afterward that I probably should have paired it with something acidic, like a light salad, to balance the richness. I also don’t drink wine anymore, which I suspect would have complemented the dish very nicely. The only minor complaint I have is that, while the shrimp were large and visually stunning, they had a slightly off flavor. Other than that, it was a wonderful meal and overall a great experience. I’d happily return and recommend it to others.

Johnny's Po-Boys is a lively counter-serve restaurant that has been serving up delicious po' boys since 1950. The walls are adorned with memorabilia, adding to the vibrant atmosphere. Located in the French Quarter, it's a must-visit spot for those exploring the area.
ABSOLUTELY 5 stars+++. Some of the best Cajun food I have ever had. Shrimp and Oyster Po Boys were delicious and perfectly dressed. Gumbo, jambalaya and red beans all home made with tons of flavor. All of this food for $60! Great prices and workers. Check this place out when in New Orleans.

Amazing poor boys! We loved the buddha shrimp, poor boy, shrimp with green tomato, poor boy, and the red beans and rice. We do not recommend the jambalaya. And don’t over order. Get a half sandwich and a side.

Yoooo what a gem!! It's a small spot, but everyone is very friendly. The shrimp po-boy is amazing!!! Every bite was loaded with tender, juicy shrimp and the bread was super on point fresh. Hands down the best ever shrimp Po-Boys I've had...I could have eaten 2 more of them easily. Love the local atmosphere and vibe. love this place, when I come back to NOLA 100% going again. 100% recommend!

The catfish po boy was mediocre fish had no seasoning bread was not toasted and was very chewy...The alligator sausage was good. There was no crowd and service was fast and courteous though... for New Orleans which is known for great seasoning i was very disappointed. Food did not match the rating and reviews it has received.

The old school po boy spit vibe is unique if you never experienced before. I got some voodoo shrimp po boy which was okay but can be much better. As a tourist, they only take cash and food is okay. Lower your expectations and enjoy a sandwich.

This place stayed busy and had a line out the door the ENTIRE time we were there. I had the fried green tomatoes and shrimp po boy. Was pretty good. But surprisingly the turkey club po boy tasted even better. Talk about shocked. Have been waiting YEARS to eat a po boy bc I wanted an authentic one and this place didn't disappoint. We also tried the gumbo and jambalaya. They were ok. Nothing to really rave about. Will definitely be back!!!

The National WWII Museum, located in the Warehouse District, is a sprawling complex of modern buildings that offers a world-class history museum experience. Visitors can explore interactive exhibits featuring submarines, planes, and a 4-D theater. The museum provides detailed accounts of the war through large narrative exhibits with personal eyewitness stories and utilizes various mediums such as film, immersive displays, reconstructions, and oral histories.
I had the privilege of stepping into one of the most moving and humbling places I’ve ever visited — The National WWII Museum in New Orleans. As someone with a deep passion for history, and especially the events of the Second World War, walking through its halls was far more than a tour… it was a journey through the courage, sacrifices, and resilience of an entire generation. Absolutely amazing, amazing institution. The museum is perfectly chronologically structured, with ample halls and huge displays. The stories, the faces, the voices — they stay with you long after you leave. If you ever find yourself in New Orleans, I wholeheartedly , highly recommend taking the time to experience this museum. It’s not just about learning history… it’s about feeling it. The impression it leaves is powerful and deeply touching.

This is an awesome exhibit dedicated to all Americans who participated in World War II. The photos do not do this place justice. Every exhibit was heavily themed and made you feel like you were in the war. This place also has exhibits that appeal for everyone. My wife is completely disinterested in "old dead white guy history", but she found all of the museum fascinating. She really enjoyed the home front exhibit that depicted what people were doing domestically for the war effort. My favorite part of the museum was the interactive digital video chat they had with veterans. I feel like this was a very hidden gem of the museum, and I could have spent all day talking to the people.
Brandon V — Google review
This museum is absolutely phenomenal! You can tell it was created with deep thought, care, and purpose. The space is massive, filled with immersive, interactive exhibits that pull you in and keep you exploring for hours. The volunteers and docents are incredible; genuinely enthusiastic, deeply knowledgeable, and patient with every curious question. You could easily spend two full days here and still come back to find something new and meaningful. War and the horrors that come with it are never easy to witness, but this museum approaches the subject with unflinching honesty and immense respect. It doesn’t sugarcoat the pain, yet it beautifully honors the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of those who lived through it. If you’re a history lover, this place will move you, challenge you, and stay with you long after you leave. It’s an unforgettable experience!
Phoenix D — Google review
The National WWII Museum is an absolute must-visit. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the weight of history brought to life in an incredibly thoughtful and engaging way. The exhibits are beautifully curated, blending powerful personal stories with immersive displays, artifacts, and interactive experiences that make you feel truly connected to the era. The Beyond All Boundaries 4D film was outstanding—it gave me chills and really set the stage for the rest of the visit. I also appreciated how the museum balances the global scope of the war with deeply personal narratives of service, sacrifice, and resilience. Everything is laid out so that you can take your time and absorb the history at your own pace. The staff and volunteers were knowledgeable, welcoming, and clearly passionate about preserving this history. Plan to spend at least half a day here—there’s so much to take in, and it’s worth every minute. This museum isn’t just about learning facts—it’s about honoring the people who lived through WWII and ensuring their stories are never forgotten. It was a surreal experience for us and brought us to tears. I dont think I have ever cried in a museum. Truly one of the best museums I’ve ever visited.
Kat — Google review
The National World War II Museum in New Orleans is an extraordinary and deeply moving experience that far exceeded expectations. The museum is massive, thoughtfully organized into different sections that cover both the European and Pacific Theatres in remarkable detail. Each exhibit tells the story of the war through powerful visuals, personal accounts, and an impressive collection of artifacts and memorabilia. From uniforms and weapons to letters, photographs, and vehicles, every display helps you understand not just the historical events, but also the human experiences behind them. One of the most meaningful aspects is the presence of volunteers—including actual World War II veterans—who are available to share stories and answer questions. Hearing firsthand perspectives from those who lived through that era adds a level of authenticity and emotion that no textbook can provide. The museum also dedicates significant space to the Holocaust and the liberation of the concentration camps, presenting it with the sensitivity and gravity it deserves. The section on Anne Frank is especially impactful, offering a personal lens into the unimaginable suffering and resilience of that time. It’s a place where you can easily spend an entire day immersed in history, reflection, and learning. The museum combines education and emotion beautifully, making it a must-visit for anyone traveling to New Orleans or interested in understanding the global impact of World War II.

Gosh, what an immaculately curated facility. So incredibly impactful and heavy and sobering. The most immersive experience I’ve had in a museum. We spent four hours but could have easily spent 6+. Everyone should see these exhibits. Massive, massive museum that really educates in exciting ways.

I could have spent two full days in here! There’s so much to see. I arrived right when they opened, and avoided the lines. The mall was dead, very few people were inside. There is a small selection of stores, which are all high end. Not that there Is anything wrong with this, but there were a lot of homeless people inside, some clearly had some issues with mental illness or drugs. This does not seem fitting for a place with luxury stores inside. Many other luxury malls are not like this. If you are looking for a place to shop without looking for any high end brands, do not shop here. There is no soul pr atmosphere to this mall, especially the top floor.

Quiet, upscale, and peaceful. Food court was mostly closed on what should have been a busy (93-degree) Sunday afternoon. Parking outside seemingly subject to "surge" pricing ($37/minimum for 2 or 3 hours). You can park inside the garage starting at $17.53/hour and get a validation that will drop it down to $4 with proof of a $20 purchase. Good place to see movies without the crowds, and they provide parking validation for that, too.

We love the canal Place Mall. It is large and spacious with multiple floors of shopping. Most of the shops here are upper end retailers. The air conditioning is superb and the mall is comfortable even on the hottest New Orleans days. Security is also good. Upstairs there is a food court and a fairly large movie theatre. A very comfortable place to shop or just stroll around.

First of all this is a beautiful shopping center. I am a tourist and was looking at a dress in Sax 5th Ave that I really liked. I wanted to take a photo so that I could buy it later for an event. Someone, I don't know who called security to ask me if everything was okay. I wasn't going to steal anything, I just wanted a photo. I'm looking at purple dresses for the opening of the color purple coming out 12/25/23.

If you find yourself exploring the vibrant Warehouse District of New Orleans, make sure to stop by Rosie’s On The Roof at the Higgins Hotel. This charming open-air bar pays homage to Rosie the Riveter and offers breathtaking views of the city skyline from its ninth-floor perch. As a relatively new addition to the local scene, it has quickly gained popularity as one of the top rooftop bars in town.
I visited this establishment yesterday, and it was great! It’s located inside the Higgins Hotel. The workers were attentive and kind. The food was decent; it’s nothing I’d pay for again. The view was beautiful. No, you do not have to pay to go here or be a hotel guest; parking is minimal, so be prepared to pay to park & walk. What I found to be a plus is the women’s restroom has hygiene products, which I feel was so convenient & thoughtful of them. Thanks Fatma, you were truly one of the best bartenders ever!

We kicked off our wedding weekend with a welcome party at Rosie’s on the Roof and it was an absolutely amazing experience. The view was even more stunning than I could have expected and all of our out-of-town guests were so impressed. We had a satellite bar and a section of the rooftop reserved for our party and it was so fun! The bartenders and staff were extremely warm, kind, and accommodating. When my feet were sore from wearing heels all evening, the staff went above and beyond and even got me some house slippers from the hotel downstairs! Truly outstanding service and I couldn’t recommend having your party or event here enough!

If you’re in New Orleans and want rooftop views paired with bold, Southern flavors, look no further than Rosie’s on the Roof at the Higgins Hotel! Let’s talk about the food: • 🌮 Cajun shrimp tacos – An explosion of flavor! Fresh, spicy, and packed with that NOLA kick. Easily one of the best bites of the day. • 🍗 Rosie’s chicken wings – Crispy, saucy, and cooked just right. The perfect balance of heat and flavor. • 🦞 Crawfish beignets – Golden on the outside, soft and savory on the inside—pure Louisiana soul in every bite. And the drinks? • 🍹 Piña colada – Smooth, creamy, and refreshing. A tropical escape in a glass—perfect for that rooftop vibe. Major shoutout to Juan, our waiter – 🙌 Friendly, professional, and made the whole experience even better. Whether you’re visiting or a local, Rosie’s on the Roof brings it all together: great food, great service, amazing rooftop views, and classic New Orleans charm. Highly recommend!

Mexican restaurant
Felipe's Mexican Taqueria is a popular spot with three locations in New Orleans, offering made-to-order Mexican food and Latin cocktails. The casual counter-serve eatery provides a variety of made-from-scratch Mexican classics like flautas and enchiladas. The cafeteria-style build-your-own order system allows for customization, but the 'Mexico City tacos' are a time-saving option with al pastor filling and Felipe's guacamolillo sauce.
Best chimichanga I’ve had in a long time! We came with 6 people and all of us were 100% satisfied and pleased with our food. Everything was delicious and perfectly fresh. I can’t wait to go back.
Kennedy W — Google review
My husband and I had the pleasure of enjoying Felipe’s on yesterday. Everything was simply amazing. Our bartender Iris was sweet and very informative. She was such a delight. We enjoyed ourselves so much. You have one of the best happy hours we’ve experienced.
Victoria S — Google review
The food is ready fast. Mildly warm so could have been out a while so not fresh. The burrito is a good size. The loaded fries were just okay but small. Very limited drink options like 4 or 5 not even Hispanic drink like horchata just regular soda. The meat had no flavor. If I wasn't starving from the airport and desperate for food I could easily recognize around here I wouldn't have gone. Now I'll never return.

I absolutely love Zach—hands down the best bartender I’ve ever encountered here. He’s not only incredibly kind and friendly, but he’s also always on point with everything he does. The way he makes each guest feel welcome and taken care of is unmatched. His energy instantly lights up the room, and you can tell he genuinely cares about creating a great experience for everyone. Drinks? Perfect. Service? Flawless. Personality? 10/10. Zach is the reason I’ll keep coming back—he sets the bar (literally) at the highest level!
Chris H — Google review
It’s a great fast casual spot that is consistently good and fast service. Affordable for the convenient location. There also a full bar and the frozen margaritas are great
Meagan L — Google review
ZACH Was a very fun polite bartender and answered all of our questions in a spunky polite manner which is a change from most peoples attitudes in the quarter. If you sit at the bar and Zach is working your in for a treat. He also made my wife a mocktail that looked like a cocktail and tasted amazing.
Devon G — Google review
It is difficult to find gluten free options in the French quarter. Mexican food is always a safe option.
Julian G — Google review
I wanted to like this place. All fairness, I was looking for a full service Mexican restaurant with hosts/hostesses. This is more like fast food where you order at the counter, wait for your food, and go find a seat. The food was mediocre, nothing great about it. The staff wasn't the friendliest either. Considering there's so many restaurant choices in New Orleans, you'd think there would be more focus on customer service. If you want fast food, this place is fine. If you want full service, good food, and courteous waitstaff, I wouldn't recommend this place.

Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop Bar is a must-visit historic site located on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Dating back to the 1700s, it is one of the oldest bars in the United States and boasts Gothic architecture that creates a unique ambiance reminiscent of its pirate-filled past.
Very cool super old bar with live piano entertainment, feels cosy and intimate with the dim lights! Loved the voodoo daiquiri (purple drink). A must visit on the quieter part of Bourbon Street.
Caterina B — Google review
Known for being the oldest bar in American History. The place is certainly rustic. The service was quick, however the Hurricane wasn't great at all. The live music was great. The atmosphere gave mysterious as the space is dimly lit.
Perry K — Google review
We saw the voodoo daiquiri (purple drank) in an article of must tries so when we were visiting we decided to give them a try. It didn't disappoint, we aren't big drinkers so they were strong tasting but they were well worth it. We also tried their hurricanes as we were told they were better than the originals. They were good! Not as sweet as the others.
F C — Google review
Went to this bar to see the historic building, and it's absolutely worth a visit for the history alone. However, I was a bit disappointed with the service. I expected a little more professionalism when I asked about non-alcoholic options, and the bartender's comment about 'only serving real drinks' felt unnecessary. For someone who can't drink, it would have been nice to at least be offered a water bottle. It's a great place to visit for the atmosphere and history, but just be aware that they don't seem to cater to those looking for non-alcoholic beverages so you don’t have to go through an unnecessary comment and an unprofessional bartender
Fernanda H — Google review
Lafitte's was one of the recommended bars for our group during our visit to New Orleans. It's almost at the end of the street when walking in the French Quarter, so it was a little far to walk, given our big group. It was a nicely themed bar, and the live music was nice. I did have to put earplugs in. It was also VERY crowded, even on a random Saturday night. I didn't order any food or drinks, probably because of the large crowd.
Shoshana A — Google review
Lafitte’s Blacksmith Bar is one of the coolest spots in New Orleans and definitely worth a visit. I first came here years ago and spent the afternoon day drinking with some of the best Bloody Marys I’d ever had, peppery, spicy, and unforgettable. On this trip, I went back hoping to relive that experience. While the mix seems to have changed a bit and wasn’t quite as good as I remembered, it was still very solid. What really makes this place stand out, though, is the vibe. The history, the atmosphere, and the character of the bar are unlike anywhere else in the area. Even if you just stop in for a drink, it’s an experience that feels uniquely New Orleans.
M. R — Google review
Try the purple drank at one of the oldest bars in the USA! Go back in time at this spot. Good music. Sometimes it turns into a piano bar.
Marc — Google review
We always have to make a stop in LaFitte’s when we go to NOLA - I love the look and feel of the whole bar, but I especially love the piano area. I’m a sucker for a good piano singalong! I did have to knock off a couple of stars for service - there were three, male bartenders there (that we saw) on our most recent visit, and none of them were very personable. My husband went to get me a drink, and the one he went to seemed to be put off by having to serve a customer. I went back later and two others were standing together behind the bar (no line waiting when I walked up) and they were not helpful either. We decided to move along at that point. I’m sure we’ll go back on our next visit, I always like to go for the piano side - I was just a bit surprised by the service this time. Not a deal breaker - hopefully just something that can be improved on.

The New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum, located in the French Quarter, is a fascinating attraction steeped in history and mystique. Founded in 1972, this boutique museum offers visitors a glimpse into the rich and unique world of voodoo religion and culture. With two snug rooms filled with antique altars, African artifacts, and works of art, the museum provides an enlightening experience that sheds light on the often misunderstood aspects of New Orleans culture.
Great spot to learn a lot about the hoodoo and voudou. Tons of records and could spend hours in the shop. The quick walking tour was fantastic and Nate is a wealth of knowledge.

Thank you for this gem of a place. This tiny but powerful museum holds so much knowledge and history. My husband and I enjoyed every bit of the NOLA Historic Voodoo Museum.
Melissa C — Google review
Its a very interesting museum, but small. I paid $10 for the visit, it’s kinda fair, it’s a really different place. If you are a tourist, worth to go. But don’t expect too much things. The store is more commercial than handmade things.
Manuela D — Google review
“Ten Bucks to Meet the Loa? Bargain of the Afterlife.” If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to be lovingly hexed by history, gently spooked by folklore, and spiritually side-eyed by a papier-mâché Baron Samedi, then friend, fork over your $10 and step into the spellbound shoebox that is the New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum. This place is small. Like, “blink and you’re communing with Marie Laveau’s ghost in the broom closet” small. But what it lacks in square footage, it makes up for in soul, layered, dusty, and delightfully unbothered by modern museum polish. It’s part shrine, part fever dream, part grandma’s attic if grandma practiced hoodoo and collected cursed dolls. The exhibits? A glorious jumble of altars, gris-gris bags, chicken feet, and cryptic notes that may or may not be binding contracts with the spirit world. I tried to read one and accidentally promised my firstborn to a swamp deity named Earl. Worth it. The vibe? Equal parts reverent and kitsch. You’ll learn about the real roots of Voodoo—its West African origins, its syncretic evolution, its misunderstood magic—and you’ll do it while standing next to a mannequin that looks like it moonlights as a jazz saxophonist in the French Quarter. Staff? Chill. Like, “we know the spirits are watching, but we’re not gonna make a big deal about it” chill. They’ll answer your questions, point you toward the altar, and let you linger in the incense haze until you feel mildly possessed or deeply enlightened. Or both. Final verdict: For the price of a sad airport sandwich, you get a portal into a world where mystery reigns, history hums, and every corner whispers, “You’re not in Kansas anymore, cher.” A must-visit for anyone who likes their museums with a side of mojo and a dash of delightful disarray.

So incredibly interesting and educational- fun place to stop by for site seeing. Very small inside overall so if it's busy you end up bumping to people trying to read or look at items, gift shop is great! Would love to have had more education on what the money means. Great and friendly staff. This museum did provide me with an expanded cultural perspective and appreciation of voodoo as opposed to the propaganda of the mainstream media portrayal
Kristina S — Google review
We ducked inside to get out of the rain and at first glance thought it was just a trinket shop. However, it's actually a really intricate and educational museum explaining the history of voodoo. It's worth the cover charge if you're interested.
Courtney V — Google review
The New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum is a hidden gem; intimate, powerful, and full of life. Madame Cinnamon Black is a true ambassador of wisdom and culture; her warmth and knowledge turn a simple visit into a deeply moving journey through the living traditions of New Orleans. An unforgettable experience for anyone who values authenticity and spirit.
Armory M — Google review
It was only $10 to enter. The museum consists of two rooms filled with items depicting voodoo alters and old things that look of replicas found at Pier 1. Descriptions of items were either typed or handwritten so prepare for a lot of reading. It would be nice if they offered brief guided group tours giving more insight into the alters and saints being displayed. It had a small gift shop where you could purchase gris-gris bags and other little jewelry and finds, that was cute. The woman at the front desk was very knowledgeable about juju and spells. When in New Orleans I suppose it's a must see but no need to plan longer than 30 minutes. Side note... There were many alters where you could make an offering. I was impressed that no one was trying to steal the money, I guess that would be bad juju.

Park
Louis Armstrong Park is a 31-acre urban oasis located in the historic Treme neighborhood of New Orleans. It pays tribute to the legendary jazz musician Louis Armstrong and features lush green spaces, scenic ponds, and statues honoring his legacy. The park is home to historic Congo Square and hosts a variety of events such as concerts, films, festivals, and even weddings.
A Peaceful Tribute to a Musical Legend Armstrong Park is a beautiful and serene spot just steps from the French Quarter, and well worth a visit. It’s peaceful and spacious, with wide paths perfect for a relaxing stroll — a nice break from the city’s more hectic energy. The park is filled with incredible statues and tributes to New Orleans’ rich musical history, especially jazz and the legacy of Louis Armstrong himself. Each sculpture feels meaningful, and the entire space gives off a quiet sense of pride and reflection. Whether you’re a music lover, history fan, or just looking for a calm place to walk and take it all in, Armstrong Park delivers. A true gem in the heart of the city.

Oh what a wonderful world A wonderful little world housed just outside of the French quarter of New Orleans. This quiet little haven of peace serves as a public green space, equipped with sculptures, plaques and more honouring the late founder of jazz. Though I would say it’s potential has been let down by its custodians. The park has some quaint little walkways and bridges which personally I enjoyed. This included a wooden bridge over a small beck, within which turtles can be spotted. We pondered on whether the turtles are natural or placed by man. I can’t help feeling like this park isn’t lifted to its full potential, due to the abundance of scaffolding and heras fencing, and the colour of the water. This could be a truly magical place but does feel somewhat uncared for. I understand there has been discussion about whether the adjacent parking lots may be incorporated into the park at some point.
Max R — Google review
Louis Armstrong Park has the appearance of a public space designed in the Lyndon Johnson era. Stark looking concrete bridges over concrete ponds seemingly without intent or direction. I can't quite figure out what seems so odd about the park. The rarely used Mahalia Jackson Theater is on the property as well as a very large abandoned building, the Municipal Auditorium whose intent is unknown to me, but is in great need of rehabilitation. I find an Executive Order from the Mayors office setting up a committee to study its redevelopment. Hopefully something is in the works. There is also an older historic building complex in the middle of the park, fenced off. Don't know what that is. The stark concrete bridges would be a lot more pleasing to the eye if they were faced with brick. Anyway, it does serve as an outdoor space for events and gathering spot for walking parades. I'm not sure whether they even have bathrooms in the park. There are some nice statues.

Amazing park dedicated to a legend. A nice surprise to stumble across while out seeing the sites of the French Quarter.

The park has great appeal. The city or whoever oversees the park needs to maintain it. It was so sad to see the level of trash that filled the water feature.... the landscape is too nice to look like that. It can be a serene place. Also some of the night lights on the entry of the park are our. Please clean the water up. I still think it's worth going to visit.

Step back in time and experience the charm of a bygone era aboard the Steamboat Natchez. This old-fashioned steamboat offers delightful cruises along the mighty Mississippi River, complete with buffet dining and live jazz music. Whether you opt for a leisurely brunch or an enchanting dinner cruise, you'll be treated to stunning views and delicious Creole cuisine.
This was such a fun, relaxing, and educational experience. The staff was super friendly and engaging, the jazz band was great and had fun with the crowd, and I loved getting to hear a little bit of history and facts about the buildings and sites we saw down the river. We got to ride on The City of New Orleans riverboat. My only constructive critique is I think reminders, signage, or announcements that there are bars on all the levels would help with lines at the third floor bar. I really enjoyed the summer drinks - they were yum! We loved the experience overall!!
John T — Google review
Wonderful jazz cruise on an authentic New Orleans steamer (though I believe the steam mechanism is superseded by electrical power). The paddle is very impressive, and mesmerising to lose yourself into for periods of time. The cruise is a perfect length of time, and leaves you well situated to make your way to Bourbon, Frenchmen or the hotel district as you depart. The boat took approximately 1 hour before departing, and we were inundated with interesting facts about the boat as we departed, before the band returned for a second ~1 hour long set. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the crew do not seem to prevent you from moving chairs around and sitting in paces that perhaps aren’t intended. The band were good, and broadcast throughout the ship, though there were some mixing issues at the start and only the sousaphone could be heard. Merely a minor teething issue. The sousaphone player gave us some notes as we were departing the boat which was a nice extra surprise. Overall a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend!

I recently had the pleasure of taking a cruise on the Steamboat Natchez, and it was truly a memorable experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was charming and full of character, transporting us back in time while still offering all the comforts of a well-organized and welcoming outing. The food was absolutely delicious fresh, flavorful, and served with a touch of Southern hospitality. Live jazz music filled the air, perfectly complementing the scenic views along the river and adding to the overall ambiance. The environment was relaxed yet lively, making it easy to enjoy the moment whether you're with family, friends, or a significant other. The staff were exceptional friendly, professional, and always ready to answer questions or offer assistance. Their attention to detail and genuine warmth really enhanced the experience. Whether you're looking for a fun family outing or a romantic date with a beautiful backdrop, the Steamboat Natchez is an excellent choice. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting New Orleans or looking to experience something unique and unforgettable.

Our experience aboard the Steamboat Natchez Dinner Cruise was exceptional from start to finish. The buffet-style dinner offered a variety of well-prepared dishes, each flavorful and satisfying, and the service throughout the meal was attentive and professional. The cruise itself was breathtaking, with the illuminated New Orleans skyline providing a stunning backdrop as we sailed down the Mississippi River. Adding to the ambiance was a superb live jazz band, whose performance truly elevated the evening. Overall, this was an unforgettable experience that we would highly recommend to anyone visiting New Orleans.

Late birthday gift. Took this tour on a Monday. It was still crowded but I bought our tickets online. The band is great. They serve food and drinks which were delicious. Got the gumbo I mostly loved the history lesson that's provided during the tour. You learn more about the Mississippi River and the structures surrounding the city Tour is about 2 hours long. It's definitely worth the 35.00 but don't forget to add the extra 35.00 for parking😫 Saw someone get a boot

Such an amazing and fun experience! The staff was amazing and kind. The food was fabulous! The creamed spinach and the seafood pasta were my favorite. Im not a sweet potato lover, but I definetly enjoyed the sweet potatoes. The cocktails are a little pricey, but tasty. The live music made for a magical atmosphere. There was plenty of room to walk around on all 4 decks and explore. It was a 10/10 experience that I would recommend to everyone.

Clover Grill is a retro-styled diner located near gay bars, offering round-the-clock service to cater to Bourbon Street revelers and service industry workers. The diner is known for its quick service and simple yet satisfying eats, with popular options like the Build Your Own Omelette and Build Your Own Burger. Its white washed plaster exterior, brightly painted walls, and glass-paneled doors contribute to its laid-back atmosphere.
Came here after a ghost tour for a quick little snack before hitting bourbon and was pleasantly surprised! This place is veryyyy small but packs a lot of flavor. It's like a little diner that has great food. They were swinging out burgers left and right and they looked and smelled so good. But we didn't get one. When I'm back in the city I will for sure try one of those! Highly recommend on a bourbon street night. And it's open 24 hours!

I did not expect a tiny little burger grill to be the place I hit up twice in a 2 day trip to NOLA but this beef burger was one of the best I have ever had in my life so couldn’t help myself. I don’t even understand how or why it was as good as it was because it looks like any old burger but it was seriously amazing. Just simple food with every detail done to absolute perfection I guess. My partner had the chicken sandwhich our first visit and said it was a 10/10 too. The vibe here is great, super cute interior and the location is so close to where you’re probably gonna be on bourbon street so easy to pop in and I highly reccomend you do. I also want to comment on the service from the staff as I did see quite a few comments talking this down - both times we went we had a diffeeent server and they were both really lovely and attentive. They were friendly, Made sure we had everything we needed and seemed to genuinely care about delivering good service which wasn’t the case everywhere we went in the French quarter. 10/10, you gotta go here at least once but more likely, you’ll end up back twice.

Kat was phenomenal. She welcomed everyone inside and got our group of four seated quickly. She took our drink order, and made us laugh right off the bat. Very pleased to have her attend to our lunch, which was extremely delicious. I had the special club with bacon, ham, turkey, two types of cheese, mayo, tomato, and lettuce. Two of us had the beef burger with cheese, one with fries, and one with onion rings. Our fourth order was the corn dog, all of which were great options. Kat kept the entire diner clean as people checked out, picking up dishes and cleaning the tables in a prompt manner. I would love to come back as we enjoyed our experience here.

Walked in on Sunday afternoon with my husband, daughter, and father in law. I didn’t get her name, but the red haired manager/server acknowledged us and we sat down right away. Ordered 2 club sandwiches, and the breakfast burger. While I am not a fan of eggs, I did take a bite of the breakfast burger and had my socks blown off! Even though I was eating the best club sandwich I’ve ever eaten, I wish I had ordered the breakfast burger. Our conversation with the lady was even better. As a tourist, I had a million questions lol. Probably the best conversation out of the entire visit to NOLA/Louisiana. Really enjoyed the camaraderie she showed us, and the vibe of the entire place was fantastic!!! Would definitely eat here again!!!

This was one of my favorite burger spots, but I got a breakfast burger with a live roach or beetle or whatever type of insect that is. When I showed the server this, he promised to comp the meal and give us a new one. Obviously I didn’t want it, but he insisted. Because I agreed to the replacement meal that I did not want I was then required to pay the full price, when the check came. It was 4 am and I was too tired to argue. It ruined it for me it’s one of the best burgers in America but now how many times did I eat a bug and not know?

Cafe
Cafe Beignet, located in the French Quarter, is a charming bistro known for its intimate atmosphere and delicious Cajun fare. The cafe offers a variety of menu items including beignets, café au lait, omelets, sandwiches, gumbo, and jambalaya. While some consider their beignets to be even better than Cafe du Monde's famous pastries, others find them slightly heavier and cakier.
A small café with a surprisingly beautiful interior design that instantly catches the eye. The service was excellent—warm, friendly, and efficient. We absolutely loved the handmade beignets; they were fresh, light, and delicious. The French toast was equally enjoyable—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. We also tried the veggie and mushroom omelets, both of which were tasty and satisfying. Their coffee menu is extensive, and every cup we tried was rich and flavorful. A fantastic spot for breakfast—I highly recommend stopping by!

On our last day in New Orleans, and everyone wanted breakfast. The grits—did not disappoint! I won’t give away the secret ingredient… you’ll have to taste them for yourself. The food was amazing, and the service matched it perfectly. We had originally stopped by the Bourbon Street location, but it wasn’t open, and this spot was recommended instead. I’m actually glad it worked out that way—otherwise, we might have missed this wonderful dining experience in such a charming, quaint location.

Loved the ambience. The live music adds a nice touch to the entire environment. The Beignets were definitely nice, fluffy and warm. The coffee served here has chicory that adds a very unique flavour that is known to Indians as 'filter coffee' and also adds to the thickness of the coffee.

I will take these over the Cafe Du Monde every single day. They are a thicker version with all kinds of options. These were a pecan and caramel and I could have eaten the cardboard boat. Great location and not as crowded. Right next to the police pct too. Bring your appetite and definitely make this a stop

OK, I had a southern breakfast which was good. The eggs were OK at atmosphere was nice. Everybody seemed like they were happy and the beignets are absolutely delicious. They make them hot and I think that’s what makes a difference than eating a cold one. Overall, this is the place for beignets and I would highly recommend.

The best delicious break on a cold windy day. Warm greeting, fresh hot coffee, freshly cooked hot beignets (huge!) and a friendly neighborhood atmosphere. Deserves to be the fav coffee & beignet spot in New Orleans. So much better than today’s Cafe du Monde!

Loved this cute cafe it is the cutest French-inspired decor. Loved the cute French table and chairs. Loved the variety of coffee options and the huge delicious beignets. OMG, the beignets are hands down the best I have had this week. I love the setting. It is a small place but I loved watching people/families/friends enjoying themselves. 😊 ☺️ ❤️

Park
Nature & Parks
Audubon Park is a charming destination located north of the Mississippi River in New Orleans. The park offers a variety of activities such as jogging and bike paths, tennis courts, playgrounds, and picnic shelters. It also features a scenic lagoon surrounded by beautiful oak trees. Additionally, the park holds historical significance as it hosted the Worlds Fair in 1898. Visitors can explore this historic site while enjoying the natural beauty and wildlife that inhabit the area.
A Peaceful Green Escape in the Heart of the City Audubon Park is a beautiful oasis in New Orleans — the perfect place to unwind and enjoy nature. I took the streetcar out and walked through the park on my way to the zoo, and it ended up being one of the highlights of the day. The wide paths are great for walking, running, or biking, and the canopy of trees offers plenty of shade — which was especially appreciated on a warm June afternoon. It’s peaceful, scenic, and full of charm, with locals and visitors alike out enjoying the space. Whether you’re heading to the zoo or just looking for a relaxing stroll, Audubon Park is a lovely spot to slow down and soak in the natural beauty of the city.

Wonderful urban park situated at the back end of the garden district, yet feels rather remote and distant from the roar of traffic and city life. This park was lovely, and had a very relaxing feel to it, unlike city park which felt more like a location one goes for activities such as golf, football practice or disc golf. The path was very nice, wide enough for pedestrians, dogs and cyclists alike, and runs parallel to a lovely stream. Forget your woes and come down and enjoy this lovely little breath of scenery.

Large, beautiful park. Convenient for locals and worth the drive for west-bankers.

Beautiful. I visited in the early morning and was already packed with people walking and running. What a beautiful place to enjoy God's creation. Very safe and perfect for exercise.
Giselle S — Google review
What a beautiful park! Well-manacured, serene trails, delightful fountain. I spent more time here than I thought I would. The park is directly across from Loyola and Tulane, yet many families with young children were enjoying themselves. There were several walkers, bikers and joggers but the park wasn't crowded or noisy. Just a great stop off the St Charles streetcar line!

Beautiful. HUGE! Great Gift etc etc Shoppe's. Wonderful and helpful employees throughout the Facility.

Great park. Recommend the "park loop" for walking, running, biking. Great for kids and pets. Periodic restrooms along the way.

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
Located in New Orleans, Audubon Zoo is a renowned destination that offers a diverse range of animal exhibits designed to replicate their natural habitats. Visitors can observe Amur leopards, orangutans, and rare white alligators among other fascinating creatures. The zoo's Louisiana Swamp exhibit provides an immersive experience with alligators, nutrias, and catfish. Additionally, the zoo features engaging presentations such as the Reptile Encounter and captivating exhibits like the Komodo dragon display.
It was fantastic. The exterior designs of the zoo were divided by all the cultural diversity areas of the world and which animals originated from. There's so much to see you'd have to stay here for the whole day just to be able to see it all. There is a small Waterpark area if you have kids or it's just too hot outside. There's also a restaurant that is not considerably expensive. it's most snack food to relax and to continue with your sightseeing of the animals. It does take a long time before entering the zoo.
Carol K — Google review
We love being members here. It’s got something for everyone and perfectly located in the city so you feel like you in a totally different place. We enjoyed the shaded areas during a hot summer day. The food wasn’t bad either when we took a short break while it sprinkled. One of the coolest places was an area for the kids to play and cool off in the heat. My twins didn’t want to leave until I told them we were heading to see the gators. They have a beautiful collection of animals and it was really clean everywhere we went.
Taylor B — Google review
What an amazing zoo! Spent 4.5 hours and wish I had more time to spend. The animals looked well cared for and there is a large diversity of animals. Feeding the giraffes lettuce was 10 seconds of fun for $5. Only downside is that the park map doesnt fully match the pathways available to walk - several people including myself were "lost" a few times.
Chris P — Google review
Such a great zoo!! I spent about 2 hours here & had a great time. Very clean. Helpful & educated staff. Animals look like they are being taken care of very well. I try to visit a zoo everywhere I travel now & this was one of the best. I purchased my tickets in advance just in case there was going to be any long lines because I went on Halloween. I got there when it opened & didn’t have to wait in line at all.
Christy B — Google review
Thos zoo is massive! Be sure to bring youre walking shoes! Very nicely kept and we managed to time it around feeding time and we saw everything from giraffes to sea lions! This is a must do, I'd advise buying the ticket combo for the aquarium and zoo! The aquarium is about a 20 minute drive from the zoo but it's the perfect cool down before the aquarium! My family of five will be back!
BreAnna M — Google review
Great zoo to vist. Had alot of animals whitch my family and I love. Was nice sized also we had a great time, defently recomend visiting if you are in new orleans.
Adam S — Google review
What a wonderful experience! I was a little sad that they did not have reciprocal pricing for AZA accredited zoos, since we are a part of our local AZA accredited zoo. But the money you pay is definitely worth what you get to see. Inside the park was a little pool area (that costs extra) where you and the kiddos can hang out on a hot day. Unfortunately, that was not something out group knew about so we didn't wear water appropriate clothing - although it would have helped because oh my gosh, was it hot when we went there. They have the zoo divided up into areas, and some of my favorite things to see was the ocelot, tapirs and the maned wolf (so which I was so thrilled!). They also have a cute little area dedicated specifically to the bayou and had a store where you could somewhat get out of the heat and cool down. It can take about two to three hours to cover the whole entire zoo, which is a lot of walking but - like I said entirely worth it. I went to the aquarium a few years back, and this definitely out did the aquarium! So if you're only able to do one - the zoo wins out!
Anastasia K — Google review
We went recently to the boo at the zoo. Not being our first time to the zoo but the BATZ event, both are great! We love the zoo in the first place, 2 visits and the membership pays for itself. Theres always things to see there and its got plenty of quiet spots to take a break and eat picnic lunch. The BATZ event had enough new things to spend the whole day!

Theaters
Saenger Theatre is a historic landmark known for hosting live musical acts and touring theatrical productions. The theater, which opened in 1927, boasts a grand Italian courtyard-inspired interior with decorative moldings and an overhead lighting design resembling a starry constellation. Despite its capacity being reduced from 4,000 to 2,600 after restoration following Hurricane Katrina in 2005, it remains one of the largest theaters in town.
Saenger Theater is surely one of the most unique and beautiful theaters you'll ever visit in the U.S. I've only attended a handful of concerts at Saenger, most recently Tom Jones, during JazzFest week. The sound and production was great. Tom Jones was outstanding.
David F — Google review
We came here last month for the show of Hamilton. Truly a beautiful venue and the location is very niche! It was very nice being able to walk to the theatre from our hotel room. The charming atmosphere is breathtaking! The only thing I would improve on, is the intake process of guests once they present their tickets. It became very crowded with limited direction from staff. Otherwise, we truly enjoyed our experience!
Summer M — Google review
Fantastic venue for a concert or show. I’ve enjoyed legendary music and theater here for many, many years. Beautiful interior architecture and comfortable seating. Not a bad seat in the house. Go spend an evening seeing something you haven’t before and be taken back to a simpler time, when theaters weren’t just square rooms with a screen.
Chip C — Google review
My favorite venue in New Orleans. I've seen so many shows here and I'll see so many more. I adore the over all atmosphere and the decor and theming is beautiful and timeless. Always recommend a show here!
Falyn E — Google review
I went to see Derek Hough at the Saenger Theatre in November 2023, and it was an amazing show! The entire theatre looked very elegant and had a unique yet vintage style to it that I consider timeless. Staffing was nice as well. The only thing I can really complain about is that it’s in a sketchy area (Canal Street) and everything is street parking, but it’s also New Orleans so I can’t really be too surprised. Aside from that, Saenger Theatre is a beautiful theatre that I believe is irreplaceable.
Ryan N — Google review
Love this old 1927 landmark theater along with National Register of Historic Places since 1985 and all its glory of its Neoclassical architectural interior style and details. I thoroughly enjoy frequenting the Saegner Theatre for any musical and / or live production.

Loved seeing Alabama Shakes here on their reunion tour! First time I’ve seen a show with seats like the old school theatre so sometimes the whole crowd was sitting except two people right in front of me but I just leaned over a bit while lol
Britany S — Google review
This is a historic theatre you should definitely include on a New Orleans visit. They don’t build them like this anymore. Both interior and exterior finishes are gorgeous. The star like ceilings are a sight to see. The acoustics for concerts is perfect. There is no echo or hollowness. The staff are kind and efficient. Our wait in security line was less than five minutes. There are adequate food and drink locations. Be prepared to pay premium prices for food or drink.

Backatown Coffee Parlour, located on Basin Street, embraces its historical significance as the 'back of the city' and aims to create a communal space for locals and visitors. The shop offers a cozy atmosphere with leather sofas and colorful murals, where patrons can enjoy jazz music while savoring their coffee, tea, and sandwiches.
Great breakfast. Bakery goods are premade just heated up before served but still tasty. Coffee is on the softer side. Pretty good. Interior and service were just fine. Laid back spread out vibes making it a great place to work, study, or meet someone.

Absolutely loved our visit to this coffeeshop! The place is so peaceful and cozy, with pleasant music that doesn’t overwhelm the space. It’s perfect for relaxing or enjoying a quiet meal. They have such a great selection of delicious and healthy options! I especially loved the mini crawfish pie (it was flavorful and fresh). The coffee was rich and aromatic! The tomato soup was excellent, and the bread was perfectly crispy… Total delight! They even have chia pudding, which is a wonderful bonus. Service was also very sweet and effortless, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend this place. A true gem!

Came into Nola for the weekend, and wanted to try a nice local place with my partner. We both had the Crawfish Melt and a Vietnamese Iced Coffee.. Couldn't have asked for a better brunch combo! The gentleman, Thomas, behind the counter, was such a nice person.. He recommended what to order, and happily explained what the sandwich was when I asked.. By far the best coffee/brunch experience I've ever had in Nola. I will 100% be back in the future, and gladly recommend this place to my friends for when they visit the city. Atmosphere, Food, Service... 10/10 with 2 thumbs up!

Nice spot! We got a Hibiscus Tea and a Cold Brew coffee The Tea was fantastic! The Cold Brew was a bit off. Something about it was kinda sour like it was old or the container had not been cleaned in a while. It wasn't terrible but not great. We assume we caught them on a slow / off day or something so we will re review next time. All in all it was not bad

We visited a handful of different cafes while visiting New Orleans and this was by far our favorite! Very welcoming, relaxed, and felt homey. The food was very tasty (the scone is to die for) and might be the best cafe au lait we had. Definitely recommend visiting! (For food, we ordered the sweet potato pie, spinach quiche, crawfish quiche, and cranberry cream cheese scone, as well as two cafe au laits and lemonade.)
Erin B — Google review
Last stop before heading off to the airport, I had to get some work done before I take off so I found a low key coffee shop to sit at and partake in some pastries while I drained their wifi. Great location, close to the hustle and bustle of the city. Plenty of space inside with the option of outdoor seating as well. The decor inside is very reminiscent of the entire city, very jazz influenced. Has paintings and murals inside, very easy on the eyes. Service was on point, the cashier was pleasant and made my cappuccino well. I placed my food order and received it shortly after. Seems like there were only two people working and they had a brunch party inside but they were extremely accommodating. I had the crawfish quiche with my cappuccino, it was very good. I love seafood and never had crawfish in my quiche so it was a delight to try and taste great. When I come back to the city I want to try their crawfish melt!

This place is great! Warm, soothing ambience, fantastic coffee, and friendly service. The barista was working solo and people just kept walking in. He handled everything and everyone professionally and with courtesy. We had the Limoncello Mascarpone Cake, the Pistachio Rose Donut, a Spinach Quiche, the Vietnamese Coffee and a Cappuccino. Everything was delicious! I would highly recommend Backatown Coffee to anyone and we will be back!
David R — Google review
My partner and I visited the city recently and happened across this coffee shop — what a great find! We’re pretty picky about our coffee, and once we find a good spot, we stick with it. If I lived in the city, I’d be here all the time! The service is fantastic! It’s such a cozy place to relax, whether inside or out on the patio. I also love that they offer vegan options. My favorite was the chia pudding — add a little agave, and it’s absolutely marvelous!

Singleton's Mini Mart is a charming family-owned gem that offers an array of mouthwatering dishes, making it a must-visit spot. Known for their incredible Pho served exclusively on Saturdays, it's wise to call ahead as it tends to sell out quickly. During the week, you can indulge in delightful sandwiches like the Vietnamese or grilled chicken on fresh French bread. The welcoming atmosphere is enhanced by the friendly owners who are passionate Dolphins fans—an added bonus for sports enthusiasts!
I was not aware that they made a meat ball Bhan mi, but it was the best Banh mi I have ever had! On another note, the Habanero sauce had a funny label but was no joke. Recommend just a ½ spoon on the side of the bowl.

So happy I got to see my friends yesterday!! It's been almost ten yrs since I've seen them and ate their food!! I used to eat it daily!! Everything is fanatic!! Especially Bo and Laura they make you feel at home!! Love them and their family and the cooking 😆

A small family run place with delicious food. They serve amazing Pho but only on Saturdays (call them ahead of time if you’re planning on eating here, since they run out quickly). They also have great sandwiches and specials on weekdays. My go to are the Vietnamese or the grilled chicken sandwiches on french bread.
Akshay M — Google review
Pho was one of the best I've had in new Orleans. Atmosphere was great, the people were great.
Giovanni M — Google review
Reticent to give out 5 stars usually, I wholeheartedly give them to Singleton's and their Saturday beef pho! Love the spring rolls, too (but you better get there early for those) and the egg rolls are perfect. Eat casually there or bring pho HOT home with you, finish putting it together yourself. Outstanding. And they are nice people.

Best restaurant of all time! Easily the most delicious Pho in the whole world. Beau uses ingredients from his garden in the backyard to garnish, & the portions are huge. Come here if you want some real New Orleans food.

Museum
Specialty Museums
If you're intrigued by the darker aspects of life and death, the Museum of Death in New Orleans is a must-visit destination. This unique museum showcases an extensive collection that includes mortuary tools, chilling crime scene photographs, and artifacts related to infamous serial killers. Visitors can explore letters from notorious figures like Jeffrey Dahmer and Ted Kaczynski, as well as artwork created by John Wayne Gacy. Originally established in California in 1995 by Catherine Shultz and J.D.
A fascinating and thorough set of exhibits that explore the taboo issue of "the big sleep". The history behind the exhibits was very interesting and there was so much info I couldn't read everything. If you have an interest in the macabre, you should certainly make a stop. Plus the employees were cool and were ready for any questions I had. 10/10.
Ian W — Google review
For $20, it is a cheap little activity to do once. You'll usually be in and out of the museum in about 45 minutes. Be warned that this museum is extremely graphic and gore-related in some areas, which some people may not be able to witness. I can say that the letters from serial killers are the best part, in my opinion, due to their originality. It is very interesting to see actual items from high-profile individuals. Most of the reports and information can be found online. The staff was friendly, and the gift shop was reasonably priced. This museum is a one-time event, in my opinion, and I don't see them getting many return customers. Some displays seemed to have filler items, and the massive amount of taxidermy animals gets a bit boring.
Anonymous ( — Google review
I slightly enjoyed the museum. Giving it four stars for the reason being people are being charged $20 for admission and not allowed to take photographs past the entry point . I came all the way from MA and this was one place I really wanted to enjoy and have a few photos to remember after I leave. The museum is also not huge in size. It had some interesting artifacts relating to dead animals, serial killers & some political ,mass crimes and process of death/decomposition but that’s about it.
Maryam Y — Google review
Nice small self guided walking tour. Museum is based on serial killers and their stories. You can’t take pictures of the items inside of the museum, but you can take pictures in the lobby area.
Veronica — Google review
I wasn't sure what this was about until I did it. Lots of taxidermy, but once you get past that, it's seriously macabre. A look at serial killers, autopsy photos of famous people and crime scene photos. If you're into true crime it's cool, which i am but even i thought it was a bit much. Once in a lifetime experience.
Julie V — Google review
What an awesome experience and the staff was so nice. I even got a free postcard so if you stop in tell him that nonsense sent you for a free postcard
Jimmy B — Google review
It’s a tourist ripoff! Don’t waste your $20. If it was $5-$10, maybe..🤷‍♀️ There are a few items throughout the small room but it’s mostly random stuff and crime scene/autopsy photos which you can easily find online. It’s like they printed images & articles from google and put them on the wall… Not what you’d expect at all.
ShereeLv P — Google review
First off, you’re not allowed to take any pictures, which feels ridiculous for a $20 ticket. And she told me "no pictures " right as she charged my card. The displays themselves were pretty lackluster not nearly as interesting or detailed as I expected. For the price I honestly expected a lot more. Overall it just wasn’t worth it

Bar
The Old Absinthe House is a historic saloon located on Bourbon Street, dating back to 1806. It's famous for its unique absinthe cocktails and quirky atmosphere. The bar is known for serving the signature Absinthe House Frappe, a drink that originated from the coffee house that was later renamed as the Old Absinthe House due to its popularity.
Came into absinthe on a Sunday night. 7/27 Met the bartenders, Kaitlin and Chappy. Super nice and knowledgeable. Chappy explained absinthe so well. Very patient. It was super awesome. Told me how to pour and serve absinthe when I go to my hometown. She was freaking awesome. You got a great staff.

The Hungry Detective and Special Agent Deirdre discovered this hidden little gem tucked away in NOLA… This is an awesome spot and Corina who was one of our servers is a true rockstar as she hooked us up with the VIP absent delivery system. NOTE: This place has it all, including a unique clientele from Californians to Frenchman to lawyers, and of course jokers and tokers!!! VERDICT: Guilty as sin for doing everything right with a smile!!!

This is a real piece of history, and a very welcoming environment. Our bartender Carina was the absolute best. Very attentive and gave a fun and concise history lesson about the history of not only The Old Absinthe House, but the spirit itself. Made great recommendations on not only a brand of absinthe, but the best ways to have it served for your palate. 10/10.
Ryan J — Google review
The bartenders are very knowledgeable about Absinthe so if you ever wanted to try it, this is the place. They have different types so talk with them to help them pick one that would be best for your palate. They have a full bar so if you are not interested in Absinthe, they have many options like the Bloody Mary & Irish Coffee I have had here.

I really liked this bar. The bartender both times was fun. Atmosphere befitting an old dive in the quarter. Not too touristy. It's a small bar though, thankfully we were able to squeeze in for a rest and a beer.
Malcolm E — Google review
Went in late on Saturday, lot of people, but we found a spot at the bar. Service was pretty quick. I got some absinthe drink and wife got a sazerac. Fair warning to you: we had no idea it was basically just rye whisky to sip on. Our own fault. We didn't drink it though as we didn't need any help getting buzzed. We were hoping it was something a bit bigger to sip on, woops!
Eric P — Google review
Went for drinks Oct. 30, 2025 with a couple of friends. We had a couple of types of absinthe, and the staff was super nice and helpful. Besides the extreme dust, which I assume is supposed to be part of the charm, it was a solid spot for a drink and a chin-wag. We could have sat there for hours just talking and drinking. The women's restroom is small, but that is par for the course. It's a quite old building. Go, it's fun!

Musical Legends Park in New Orleans is a cozy park adorned with statues of jazz legends and hosts live local bands daily. The park, maintained by the New Musical Legends Foundations, Inc., aims to showcase the rich cultural and musical heritage of New Orleans. It also serves as an educational venue for students and contributes to economic development and tourism in the area.
We had a really great time eating beignets in the courtyard and listen to the saxophone player who’s been playing there forever. There’s a big water fountain in the center of the courtyard and the birds were flapping around in the top bowl taking a birdbath. It was so cute. the people are really nice and the food was really good

Musical Legends Park is such a nice break from the usual chaos of Bourbon Street. It’s an open-air courtyard with live jazz, plenty of seating, and a really relaxed vibe. You can grab a coffee or a drink from Café Beignet and just enjoy the music without needing a reservation or a cover charge. The live band was fantastic—super talented and clearly having fun. It’s not too loud or too packed, so you can actually sit and have a conversation while listening. There are statues of New Orleans music legends around the space, which gives it a nice local touch.

Awesome place for some free live music with a lot of seats. There is a café and a bar. The bar has affordable drinks but some of the stuff is pre made so it’s a hit and miss. I’ve had awesome blood Mary’s here but also had watery/meh ones. Staff could start washing their hands before shoving the garnishes in the cups tho, or at least use utensils for that.

Musical Legends Park is a nice little seating area to take a break and relax on Bourbon Street! There are some really neat historical signs and statues, and a lot of times there is some live music! There are a lot of tables and it is a cute, quaint little area to take a break and enjoy the jazz, or even grab another!!
Katelyn M — Google review
This wonderful jazz park features a coffee shop and a cocktail bar. The band begins playing at 10:00 AM and continues into the late evening. Please note that the hours listed on Google Maps are not entirely accurate.

It's a beautiful place to visit however it was very loud and crowded. Even with that being said we were able to get our food fast and the staff was very friendly. Other than people being on top of each other( we went back after a few hours and it was a little better) and smell of urine surrounding you it was great.

Nestled on Bourbon St...this little park with live jazz singing while you're eating a caramel pecan beignet is a treat! You'll forget you're on Bourbon with the rest of the crowd!

Step into the rich history of New Orleans at the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum, which was once an apothecary dating back to 1823. This museum showcases early medicines, superstitious cures, and more. Immerse yourself in the city's roots in apothecary as you explore America's first licensed apothecary. Additionally, you can delve into the city's history by visiting other historic home museums such as Historic BK House and Hermann-Grima.
One of the most interesting museums I’ve ever been to. Filled with old medical tools, medicine bottles, and information about it all. There are so many interesting facts to read about and the building is part of the history too! If you enjoy learning about medical history, and/or seeing how far medicine has come, you’ll enjoy this museum. I think I could have spent at least a couple hours here reading and looking at everything. It’s really fascinating.

I had the absolute HONOR of proposing to my fiancée in the courtyard of the Pharmacy Museum, and I couldn’t have pulled it off without the very lovely and kind Rose! She went above and beyond to make sure the proposal was perfect, working with my photographer, setting up candles, and even using her awesome acting skills. I’m so grateful. The museum fit our aesthetic to a T. It’s full of knowledge, character, and so many cool things to see. My fiancée was the most beautiful thing in there, but the leech jar is a close second! Thank you, Rose, I hope we see you again on our bachelor/bachelorette trip. New Orleans will definitely be seeing us again!

Mostly Ghostly Tour was absolutely fantastic! Grace was our tour guide and she did a fantastic job taking us back in time to show us the medical world in the 1800s and how it progressed and changed throughout history. It was honestly the highlight of our trip. We will be doing it again when we return to the area. I advise anyone wanting to visit the pharmacy museum, to opt for a tour (if in October, the Mostly Ghostly Tour is worth it!). While you can look around and get the facts from detail cards, it’s truly an experience when you get a tour. We also appreciated that there was parking just around the corner.

The Guided Tour is the way to go at this historic and delightful museum. The Guides perform hour long journey in a time machine full of wit and wisdom. They are so engaging and informative. I learned so much about the medicinal history, and also the history of New Orleans. Its a unique and special spot!

I highly recommend Grace as a tour guide / leader. You will love her interpretation of the facts. One hour spent with her was amazing. Tours are only available during weekend so I understand the constraints.

It's a great tour! Plan time to spend looking at a lot of great history. It is 2 floors and the stairs going to the second floor are winding but there's more incredible history upstairs

The Audubon Insectarium, located in New Orleans, Louisiana, is a captivating museum dedicated to the study and exhibition of insects. Following a $41 million renovation in 2023, it now shares a space with the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas in the U.S. Custom House. The insectarium features interactive exhibits showcasing bugs in action and includes an IMAX theater for an immersive experience.
This place is an amazing location for families or anyone who wants to learn more about Insects. I have been to many butterfly exhibits and this by far is the best one I have ever been too for the amount of butterflies flying around. Additionally the other insects were fascinating and there was plenty to see. The signage was informative and easy to read/comprehend. Well done and a must to visit!
Sharon E — Google review
Small but mighty. I mean, insects are small, so you can't expect it to take a lot of space right? The butterfly room is beautiful and truly a unique experience. The bug cafe is awesome too! You get to try eating a food with bugs in it - the cookies re my favorite.
Tanya ( — Google review
It was very crowded. The butterfly exhibit is the best thing about the insectarium. There isn't a whole lot to look at other than the butterflies. You can eat crickets on a cookie and ranch and Cajun flavored ones as well.
Tracy W — Google review
This is included in the price of the aquarium and was a nice add on. It was small as well but worth it. We saw a lot of bugs that were active. The butterfly area is pretty and relaxing!
Nicole P — Google review
I loved everything about this insectrium. It was beyond what I expected. Learned a lot, saw a lot. The staff were great. Engaging and offered education. For a weekend visit not overly crowded. Was able to see all the insects before heading to see the butterflies. All in all this was worth the money. I bought both aquarium and insectarium and having been at a larger aquarium personally the highlight for me was the insectarium. Definitely a great visit for children and adults.
Meron Z — Google review
Holy cow!! The amount of insects in this place is phenomenal. Varied species and from all over the world. The butterfly exhibit is next level awesome.
Bill M — Google review
Interactive firefly experience, butterfly house, and so many different insects! The ant exhibits were so cool, you could see the underground colonies.
Abigail R — Google review
I purchased the insects and the aquarium combo. I enjoyed the Insect area. I think for the size of the aquarium the insect area was pretty good. I went into the butterfly entrance and I thought that place was absolutely beautiful. It smelled so earthy with all the plants and butterflies. The perfect place for a plant lover. I asked some questions about the butterfly food and the employees there were very knowledgeable. I enjoyed all the information they shared. So kudos to the two employees that were in the butterfly area today. I like the little computer games they had in the area as well. The instructions were really easy for kids to understand and it allowed them to play more so they could survive from being eaten by a bird. There was a gentleman there that was showing a scarab to another customer and the information that he had on the scarab was interesting. I wasn’t expecting much from this place, but I enjoyed myself plenty and highly recommend going to the aquarium and getting the combo.

Overall I was impressed by this particular casino. Location isn't great but solid casino. I heard so many negative things in the past about Boomtown but my experience was GREAT!!! I go at least three days a week.. The Penn Play rewards are the absolute best I've experienced at any casino. Highly recommend!!! Only negative things I have is location and the machines are really close together.

Had a great experience at Boyou Market Express due to the professional and upbeat personality of Ms Brittany and Ms Giselle! They were patient and kind ! Their customer service deserves an award! Horrible experience with casino floor waitress names Brianna. I and my husband was playing the slots and ordered 2 beers, My husband only had one dollar left to tip and I had money on the machine; Brianna gave him a beer and took mine back even though I was gaming and was going to tip her next round when I took out my ticket I always tip and thought it was optional; she was rude about it and if I spend my money I should be able to obtain complimentary drinks as long as I am gaming which I had over 200 on my machine in a bonus.

We come here every time and we have never had a bad experience. The staff knows us and everything is always so nice. Judge for yourself. We have been staying here for years and always had a great time and stay. It is cute and charming and approving over the years. Let’s talk about safety—you do not have to worry.

The service is very horrible on the 3rd deck it's suppose to be smoke free but people still be up there smoking security walks around like they don't see are smell it. The bartender girls on the 3rd deck don't even walk around to see if you need a drink they just want to stand behind the bar and talk with security and play on the phone it's ridiculous that's every time you go on the 3rd deck.
Nicole A — Google review
After all day of being in and out of casino I wasn’t allowed back in because of my form of id to them wasn’t valid but like I said I’ve been here all day and came across 3 different shifts of people and all of them allowed me in with my US government issued passport identification and even the lady that denied me entry now, earlier allowed me in. I’m not even drinking to think they were trying to kick me out due to being rowdy or something like that. I had gotten a room for all weekend and now I’m having to cut it short cause they don’t allow me back in casino. I was never ugly or disrespectful to their staff or anything to think I was kicked out for my own doing.
Sabrina V — Google review
The worst Casino I have ever been to, seriously. We weren’t welcomed when my husband and I walked in. We asked the security guards a question and they did not even answer us. Even when we asked AGAIN. The customer service representative was rude too. Terrible customer service from everyone in this casino. Every single person that worked on this particular shift was grumpy and rude.

Chemin à la Mer is an upscale restaurant located in the Four Seasons Hotel, offering riverfront dining with stunning views of the Mississippi River. The menu features a selection of gulf seafood and steaks, with a focus on celebrating the culture of the iconic body of water. As part of Donald Link's restaurant group, it has quickly become a noteworthy destination within the city. The open-air patio provides an unobstructed view of the river, adding to the overall dining experience.
Everything about Chemin a la Mer was immaculate. Walking into the restaurant, you're welcomed with a beautiful view of the river. Every table was thoughtfully placed so that everyone had the opportunity to enjoy the view. The food was amazing. We had a flight of oysters and I definitely recommend that to any oyster lover. Their herb sourdough & beef tartare was delightful and a great combination together. The cherry on top was the attentive, knowledgeable and kind staff. Pam was our waitress and made the experience delightful. I'd definable recommend for anyone looking for an upscale dining experience
Jen S — Google review
Definitely not what I expected for a $300 meal. The food was very good, I have zero complaints on the quality, but I could have gotten the same thing for less at several other restaurants in New Orleans. It was not a $86 filet IMO. $15 for four stalks of asparagus was a little much. The staff was very personable and attentive, and easy to talk to. Multiple staff asked if we had allergies or dietary restrictions, which I highly appreciate. My reason for less than five stars is the fact that we were offered a glass of complimentary champagne for our anniversary celebration, then was charged $28 for said "complimentary" champagne. My biggest complaint is the atmosphere. For the Four Seasons, I expected a fine dining experience. I looked online where it stated the dress code was business casual, so that is what we went with. When I walked in I felt so overdressed. Every single other patron was wearing shorts and a t-shirt, with the exception of one gentleman wearing a tank top. It just wasn't the atmosphere I was expecting. If I do return, I'll be sure to break out my dress flip flops, and not accept anything "complimentary."

Went there for a farewell and birthday dinner. Everything was amazing, The food is amazing, i like the crawfish Gratin. And especially our server, she’s amazing and generous. Handling a party of 10 must be challenging but she lit that night! ❤️ Thanks Pam!

Meh. Overpriced faux fancy food. I’ll stick to the Chandelier Bar food. Crème brûlée and horchata shots was the only good pick. Olive bread - no Gumbo- dark roux color right but everything else WRONG NO Shrimp and grit cake? - smh no Never returning

Fabulous staff and hospitality, fabulous food. The burger is just my favorite. The environment is a great relaxing and chill. The feta and honey dip is a fave and the crème brûlée is the best presentation in the area.

We traveled to NOLA for our Anniversary and made reservations (last minute/day of but was able to get a reservation for 2 at 745pm). At first it was a little confusing locating the restaurant (it’s in the Four Seasons) as well as the correct elevator lol. However the view and atmosphere was superb. The food was delicious… our waiter (i forgot her name) but she was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. She accommodated my request (i mainly like juice in gumbo with very little meat), as well as something sweet and special for our Anniversary. Well, She knocked it out of the park with my requests. Food: My husband has the salmon and it melted in his mouth, very well seasoned (it’s the best salmon we ever had). He also enjoyed the Juliet Old Fashion. I enjoyed a well seasoned ribeye steak with a twice baked potato. The spinach with garlic was average. This was our first time but it won’t be the last time… 5 Stars.

I expected more! This place is amazing, beautiful location, very fancy and great service. But I wasn’t impressed with the dishes I tried, basically there were no seasoning and no flavor. Especially for New Orleans standards! The appetizers and the desserts 🍮 were very good. I’m planning to go again to try other dishes. The view of this place is amazing and the bar downstairs is also worth the visit!

Italian grocery store
Central Grocery and Deli is a small Italian market in the French Quarter known for its specialty foods and famous muffuletta sandwiches. The founder, Lupo Salvatore, invented the iconic sandwich in 1906. Despite facing challenges during Hurricane Ida in 2021, the market's legacy lives on through its renowned muffulettas, which can still be enjoyed at nearby locations.
So happy they have reopened! This place is a must visit on your visit to New Orleans! Sandwiches are huge! Quarter will feed 2. Highly recommend.

I've been to New Orleans seven times and this is my first time trying the Muffuletta! And I wanted it from the place that created it, Central Grocery and Deli! The Muffuletta was great! We all loved it! Even my grandson and he's a picky eater. The Muffuletta was huge, could easily feed four people.
Ken J — Google review
I had the Mufoletta which I really enjoyed. I bought the 1/4 section because a whole one can feed an adult family of 4. The service was good and friendly. The atmosphere was very casual. The prices were fair. I will revisit if I ever visit NOLA again.
Joe L — Google review
Cool little shop to visit while in New Orleans. They say this is where the original muffaletta was invented. We ordered 1 whole muffaletta to split between my wife & I and still had half leftover after we both filled up on a quarter of the sandwich each.
Eric S — Google review
The Muffuletta is the greatest!! The original in NOLA so it's a must try, incredibly tasty and substantial. A whole muffuletta is like a cake, round and split in 4 quarters. My husband and I shared one half muffuletta, which is split in 2 quarters and the perfect size for 2 people. It's absolutely delicious full of tasty Italian meats, cheese and briny olives. The shop has a seating area inside, or you can take it to go as it's sold neatly packed. The deli shop sells some cool goodies including the olive salad they put in muffulettas. Loved this place!
Caterina B — Google review
I came here intentionally, knowing this was the home.of the original Muffuletta. The old time feel of this deli was wonderful, the sandwich, well I took a card when I found out I could have these sandwiches shipped! It was sooooo good!!

Finally made it here I'm not a big olive fan so I wish I could have had a sandwich without it but hubby ate all of mine and it was good Service from staff was awesome One if the cleanest bathroom I've been in while ilon my visit
Lucy B — Google review
Amazing Muffulleta - Best by far in New Orleans! I ate multiple Muffuletta's while here in NOLA and none come even close to the taste, flavor, and seasoning as the Original home of the Mufalleta (go figure). For me, the difference is the bread, the quality of meat, the volume and quality of the toppings, and the seasoning/oil. Everywhere else I ate the Muffuletta, the bread was thinner and didn't have the same flavor and fresh bread taste as what you'd find in a bakery. Central Grocery's bread tasted like something you'd get fresh from a high-quality bakery, which any sandwich maker knows the bread is one of the most important aspects of the sandwich. The second difference is the quality of the meat. Anyone who goes to a traditional deli, especially like in New York knows the difference between high quality meat and low quality meat which can be tasted immediately. The same thing is true with the cheese. At Central grocery, it's clear they have one of the highest quality meat selections in New Orleans which generally makes the Sandwich a completely different and higher quality taste. Also, they sell the highest quality ingredients including fresh high-quality pickles, olives, and a bunch of other condiments separately, like what a bakery or specialized grocery store would have. The quality of the olives alone along with the other condiments, take the flavor and taste of the sandwich above the others I ate. Lastly is the seasoning and oil used on the bread and meat. Every other Muffulleta I ate in New Orleans literally tasted dry, even though the cheese was melted. It was because they all lacked the oil and seasoning that is used at Central Grocery, where even without the cheese being melted, the sandwich is moist and delicious. I thought I'd have to eat it heated which I did try as well. But in all honesty, I can eat it completely cold as it is provided and it tasted just as good due to the volume of oil and seasoning used on the bread and meat. When purchased you can get the muffuletta in either a half or a full and each comes with heating instructions. If you do decide to heat it, it's worth trying & makes it equally delicious. I prefer crunchier bread versus softer bread where the top and bottom is crunchy but the middle is soft and fluffy so that's the way I made it when heating it, but it comes with instructions to keep the bread soft if preferred. I normally eat a foot long hoagie sub when eating a sandwich and I could only finish half of the sandwich since it is huge! (See the attached photo and note that the plate used in the photo is a large dinner plate). Overall, I didn't find another Muffuletta place that made could even compare to the original at Central Grocery, but I'll keep looking. Either way, if you are visiting New Orleans and you like a quality sandwich with fresh baked bread, high quality deli and ingredients, and amazing seasoning, you need to make a stop at Central Grocery!

If you're on the hunt for a pizza experience that truly satisfies, look no further than Marco's Pizza. This counter-serve chain specializes in both specialty and custom pizzas, perfect for takeout or delivery. Customers rave about the fresh ingredients and authentic flavors that elevate Marco's above other popular chains. While seating may be limited, the focus is undoubtedly on their delicious pizzas, which are crafted with care—from the rich sauce to the perfectly baked crust.
Marco’s Pizza stands out with an authentic, delicious flavor that puts it above places like Pizza Hut or Papa John’s. You can really taste the quality in the sauce, crust, and toppings. Seating is limited, but the pizza is the star—and it’s priced fairly. Definitely a go-to spot for great pizza!
Chris D — Google review
I’ve been ordering pizza from this location for years - damn near the same order every-time. Evidently they are in a declining state as far as offering quality food and SERVICE. I used the app and requested my pizza be well done. If you get deluxe or supreme pizzas you would typically request the original crust to hold the weight of the toppings, and well done for peace of mind that everything is cooked properly. Like I said I’ve been ordering from this location for years and I have never changed the way I have requested the pizza. When I received the pizza it was burnt, or overcooked, which neither is “well done” and the crust was hard and thin. I politely called the store to address my concern and the “manager” , who had the most aggressive and hostile tone, informed me that it was supposed to be burnt because I requested well done. Before I argued with his arrogant incompetence, I just let it go because I knew there wasn’t going to be any resolve for me as a loyal customer. Again! This is my neighborhood Marco’s - the only Marco’s on this side of the Causeway - and I’ve never experienced such POOR service and food like I have this evening. Very disappointed in our family’s favorite pizzeria.

Thank you Marco's for your professional and friendly service. Sometimes I wait a little more than I'd like to but the quality of the food makes up for it. Marco's is my new favorite pizza place. Just place an order 9/4/2025 same thing I get every time.Spoke to Shannon about my concern. As far as customer service goes not that pleasant. Shannon the manger I guess she is , had to talk over me about how busy and slammed they were at that point in time .I think I had a better idea what was happening at Marco’s Marrero that she had of my issue with the pizza. In times past when I had an issue the problem was solved just that quick. Sorry to say I’ll stick with Theos from this point forward when I want better customer service. Good luck Marcos
