Theme park
Water & Amusement Parks
Amusement park
Puy du Fou is a historical theme park that offers epic, period-specific shows such as the Vikings and Ancient Rome. The park features astonishing special effects, including dancing horses, rotating castles, and Viking longships emerging from underwater. With jousting knights, panoramic cinemas, and spectacular dance sequences, visitors are in for an immersive historical experience. Celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2017, Puy du Fou continues to innovate with an ever-increasing amount of entertainment.
I had read about this park, but nothing can prepare you for what you’ll see – it’s absolutely stunning and unforgettable! If you arrive around 9 AM and get the skip-the-line upgrade, you can catch all the shows in a day. Be aware that the roads get very crowded (our drive from Cholet took about an hour). A good tip: bring some food in a backpack and eat while watching the shows to save time. Totally worth it!

It has been an unforgettable experience. The shows we attended were of great quality, including the costumes and staging. I must point out that it seemed to me that the sound was playback rather than live, and the simultaneous translation was slightly out of sync in some shows. Of course, it’s impossible to see everything in just one day, but even so, it’s well worth the visit — highly recommended for the whole family.
Lucía C — Google review
Love this park. As a family went have been visiting since 1989. We have seen so many changes over the years. It never ceases to amaze us every visit. We have a season pass as we now live in the area, so far this season we have been every week, our family of 4 and their families are avid Puy du fou fans, the grandchildren absolutely love it!. Great options for food, coffee and snacks. Gift shops well stocked with various memorabilia and various artisan shops in the medival and viking villages. Fun for all the family and all ages with not a ride in sight! A wonderful way to immerse yourself in french history and appreciate the performers enthusiasm in doing what they obviously love doing. The cinecine is something else,a must see,indescribable....see for yourself.

Wow. This place is amazing and well beyond expectations. The videos on social media do not exagerate how good Puy du Fou really is. It's better! Hotel was also 10/10 & the staff are first class. Simply a must to visit & I'm looking forward to the UK park opening in a few years 🤞
Mark B — Google review
This place was incredible, we booked last minute not knowing what to expect and it did not disappoint. A lot of the shows are quite close together so we did have to run to catch them but there are hotels so you could stay for 2 days and see all the shows in good time. As a theme park it is a little pricey but this was to be expected. Make sure you take some headphones so you can translate the shows!
Robotllamas — Google review
What a place! A must do if you're looking for a unique experience with a tint of French history across the time. The well equipped parc is huge, so make sure that you wear comfy shoes! Booking in advance is a must, and depending on the time of the year you'll be visiting Le Puy du Fou, you might face waiting queues before attending the most rated shows... I strongly suggest that you download the apps, that will help you to organise your visit. We managed to watch the best shows, keeping us time to visit the parc, the villages replicas and indulge ourselves at some of the restaurants as well. Special thanks to all the dedicated staff, you are doing a great job! We had a great stay and we'll come back for sure.

Puy du Fou is amazing. We visited Puy du Fou this week for the first time and luckily we planed two days for this park. The shows are amazing. The new show is absolutely amazing and all the shows have at least one “wow-effect”. Stunning! The evening show was incredible! I will definitely come back!

We had an incredible time at Puy du Fou! 🤩 Every performance was unique, breathtaking, and full of surprises – the kids and I were completely captivated from start to finish. The attention to detail is just insane – they go above and beyond to create something truly unforgettable. Hands down the best park I’ve ever visited. Absolutely magical!!

The Vikings

4.8
(9928)
The Vikings is a remarkable tourist destination that offers an exceptional day out for families. With scorching temperatures, it is advisable to bring sun protection such as sunscreen and a hat. The show presented at this attraction is truly awe-inspiring, providing visitors with an unforgettable experience. The opportunity to capture breathtaking photographs further adds to the overall appeal of The Vikings as a top-notch tourist spot.
It’s an incredible play with fire, boats coming out from the bottom of the lake and true talent and training in the animals that they train, did the vikings first and I do not regret it, it’s just the start for Puy du Fou, I highly recommend it! Absolutely amazing and something you can’t get anywhere else!
Pulsar — Google review
I sort of knew what to expect with this show because, being an outdoor daytime show with lots of flames and effects, it has to be one of the most photographed in Puy du Fou. It is a dramatic spectacle with lots of violence, so perhaps not best for kids or the sensitive. It starts of with a nice peaceful village (Saxon?/Gauls? Not sure) when the Vikings descend, dramatically, with one boat sliding in down the hill and a second emerging with crew from the water and with flames - a signature technical effect at Puy du Fou! Buildings are toppled and set on fire, people are set on fire, one guy is dragged behind a galloping horse! So, as I say, perhaps not suitable for all. Where to sit to get the best effect? Well I'd say somewhere towards the back and in the middle. Just in front of the Emotion Pass section, or in it if you have an Emotion pass. The closer you are, the less you and your camera will be able to take in.

Performing arts theater
The Cinesceny Of Puy du Fou is an extraordinary performance that left a lasting impression. It was an incredible spectacle, with breathtaking visuals and impressive technical effects reminiscent of Hollywood productions. The show seamlessly combined elements of theater, music, lights, sounds, fire, water, and fireworks to create a truly magnificent experience. The overall presentation was absolutely sensational and exceeded all expectations. It was a true testament to the power of the performing arts at its finest.
This show was absolutely astounding. I have never seen something so entertaining in my whole life! I greatly respect all the hard work put in to help guarantee such a perfect and successful show.
Kaleb C — Google review
Absolutely stunning play with an extremely detailed story, an insane amount of talent, and very well-trained animals. Dare I say, a plane flies over the sky at the end. It is very much worthy of your money, and I think it is essential to watch when at Puy du Fou. The amount of fireworks, planes, and everything is so amazing and something you couldn’t get anywhere else.

We all had a great night and a wonderful experience of a lifetime. Reminds me of Songs of the Sea/ Wings of Time in Singapore but 100x better because of the live actors and animals involved in the show plus tons of fireworks. It's a huge production. We were very lucky to be seated in Gold porte H where you can see everything. I highly recommend it!!! ❤️👍🏻😍👍🏻🥰
Maman N — Google review
A total positive surprise. We were invited by our dear French friends and did not know what to expect. But this show was an absolute sensation with a great scenery, fantastic story and super special effects a la Hollywood.
Reiner H — Google review
Wow. Just wow! I've never seen a production as incredible as La Cinescenie. The magnitude of it is off the charts! It continually surprised and delighted me. The actors, dancers, animals, stunts, props, sounds, water, fireworks. All of it was jaw dropping. And emotional, I shed tears. The music is beautiful. As a non-French speaking person, I was able to still be immersed in it by listening to the audio translation on the app. It didn't take anything away from it. How they choreograph a production of this size is beyond me. What a talented lot of people. I hope to be able to return from Australia again one day.

Cottage
Nestled just a stone's throw away from the enchanting Puy du Fou, Domaine Mélusine offers an idyllic retreat in the heart of nature. This charming destination features luxurious cottages spread across a sprawling 24-acre park, providing guests with the perfect blend of self-catering freedom and hotel-like amenities. The serene pond on-site serves as a picturesque backdrop for enjoying drinks at the bar or dining al fresco on the restaurant terrace.
Domaine Melusine is 5 minutes by car from Puy-du-Fou. The "cottages" are well appointed clean, fresh and new. With Air Conditioning!! Excellent breakfast, helpful staff (speaks good English). A great place to visit with the family - the kids can roam all over the Domaine. I highly recommend it.
Groff B — Google review
Nice staff. Comfy cottage with everything you need (listing on their website is accurate). Beautiful setting - lots of flowers, birds and open space. Fun activities - a little mini golf, aire de jeu, and others. Refreshing beach area. Restaurant is very good. Excellent placescto hike in the surrounding area. And, yes. It's super close to Puy du Fou. :)
Greg A — Google review
Really close to Puy du Fou by car (though you'll still likely run into park-bound traffic around opening time). The individual home units have a single air conditioning unit in the living area which you crank up to cool down the rooms by leaving doors open when you're gone during the day. Lots of grassy areas for kids to run around. The restaurant is pretty darn pricey but tasty, and the pizza truck is more reasonably priced. The miniature golf is okay and free, with tons of different-sized clubs available at the front desk.
Benjamin V — Google review
After staying one week at another place, we were a bit disappointed. The location and the restaurant were great but the house was not. It did not have a parasol so you have to stay inside. As an advice: parasol at the house, good quality parasol base at the pool and normal garbage bags which don't break.
Thomas — Google review
We stayed here in AUG-19 while visiting Puy Du Fou. It was a smashing new site (opened JUL-18). The site is about 25 mins walk away, though we drove to Puy du Fou as it's a tiring day, so adding a walk to our accommodation wouldn't have worked for us. The site has great new chalets and seems very up market. There even seemed to be a nightly turn down service. Staff were lovely and very keen to ensure we had a great stay. We loved the chalet - so clean and airy. It's probably one of the best caravan type accoms we have stayed in. We went to the night time cinescenie show, and I'd say we were back at the chalet within about 20 mins from the end. Considering 4000+ people were leaving all at once I reckon that's pretty good. If you are off to Puy Du Fou, I'd definitely recommend considering this place to stay in.

The challets are briliant, very new, very clean, spacious. Breakfast is terrible, no cheese, no ham, just a croissant and some bread with butter, if there is bread, get it asap course they where out of everything soon.

Nestled in the picturesque Vendee region, La Table Mélusine offers a delightful culinary experience just moments away from the renowned Puy du Fou theme park. This charming eatery is set in an enchanting yurt by a serene lake, providing a unique ambiance that enhances your dining adventure. Visitors rave about the warm hospitality of Carla and her team, who create an inviting atmosphere filled with laughter and kindness. The menu features generous portions of fresh, homemade dishes that showcase local flavors.
You do NOT need to be staying at the Domaine to enjoy this gem of a restaurant. We have eaten dinner here twice. Both times, the service was first rate and the food very good. The dining area is in connected yurts which are very spacious. We recommend it highly. Bon appétit !

(Translated by Google) A pleasant surprise! We didn't expect our dinner to be so good. We arrived as a family for a stay near Puy du Fou and learned there was a restaurant on the Mélusine estate. It was flawless from the starter to the main course to the dessert. The portions were generous and very flavorful, and above all, the prices were very reasonable considering the quality of the food! All three of us thoroughly enjoyed it! Don't hesitate to make a reservation during peak season, and be aware that the restaurant is closed on Tuesdays. (Original) Une agréable surprise ! (Translated by Google) A magnificent address, no need to stay at the Domaine to access it! On the advice of locals, we took advantage of our visit to Puy du Fou to take a break from our day (before the nighttime show) to have dinner with Carla and her team. The team is very welcoming, the chef is generous, the menu guarantees fresh and homemade products. The setting is original: in a yurt on the edge of a lake. Go ahead with your eyes closed, we wish them every success for the season! (Translated by Google) It's mid-June, the beginning of the summer season, and we arrived at the estate late in the day to stay for three nights. After settling in, we wanted to dine at "Table Mélusine." We called three times without a response, so we went directly to the restaurant. We were surprised to see several empty tables, even though we were told they were fully booked for that evening. I mainly think the managers and staff wanted to be home by 9 p.m. I don't think I'll try to eat there again, and I don't think I'll recommend this place. Perhaps it would be a good idea to leave a few tables available for guests staying at the estate... I'll be sure to let reception know. You should only open the restaurant at 6 p.m. and be able to accommodate guests until the estate reception closes at 9:30 p.m.!

Very pleasant service, friendly, helpful, and smiling staff. The breakfast buffet is very comprehensive, the only small downside is that the fruit salad is canned, thankfully there were a few slices of fresh fruit on the side. (Original) Dîner divin . The Rendezvous Of The Hungry Bellies, a fast food restaurant located in a theme park, provided fuel for visitors with previous theme park food experience. Surprisingly, the queues were not long and the service was efficient. While the prices were not excessively high, they were still more expensive than desired. However, the quality of the food surpassed expectations and was enjoyable. Ample seating was available and there was an admirable effort to recycle packaging, although more could be done to reduce plastic usage.
Great entertainment. Learn and be entertained. Good for kids & adults. Crazy busy, but still saw the shows we wanted. App useful for planning day.

They sell chicken burgers almost without any chicken for a very high price and say that it is normal. I went to the counter and showed the burger to the employee. He said "this is normal and they can't control the size of the chicken pieces". He couldn't think of adding 3 pieces in case 2 pieces were too small because most likely his manager told him to put strictly 2 pieces. Also, look at the tomatoes in the sandwich in the photo. Normally the green part is thrown away or given to animals, not served in a restaurant. Shows the quality of your establishment and the training of your employees.

First of all. The fries were delicious. Secondly, my kids seemed to eat their whole burgers. Unfortunately, I was told I couldn't have a burger without mustard mayo and barbecue sauce, so I ordered a chicken burger. The bun was stale, the chicken were poorly fried in a subpar golden breadcrumb coating. Also they used a disgusting emulation of a bearnaise sauce.

With previous experience of theme park foods I was just looking for fuel. However I was pleasantly surprised to find the queues were not too big and service pretty efficient. The formule was not crazily priced, but more expensive than I would like to have paid. However saying that the quality of the food exceeded expectations and was quite enjoyable. Plenty of seating and as ever now the ability to recycle packaging. Good to see an attempt to reduce plastic, could do more on that front. Veggie options were limited though to a pasta salad. On the whole a decent food stop for a family.

One of the many places to eat at the Puy du Fou. Good quality burgers that make Macs taste like soggy cardboard by comparison. Fast service as long as it's not a busy summer holiday. Close to the lake so handy for Lake events and the smaller shows.

Good food, a place in the shade and loos This is a fast-food outlet, and the fast food we had was IMO much better and better value than the disappointing so-called 3-course table-service lunch we had earlier in the day. We went at a quiet time sat there in the shade with a burger, fries, and a beer, and let the world go by for a while.

Whether you're craving their beautifully presented crepes or exploring other tempting dishes on the menu, there's something for everyone. Guests rave about the homemade pancakes and the inviting atmosphere that makes every meal feel special.
(Translated by Google) Excellent Bar/Creperie. Arrival late at 8:15 p.m., however, and the welcome from the waitress was very pleasant and professional, the service was excellent, the owner warm and to spoil nothing, the pancakes and pancakes were remarkably presented and tasty (congratulations to the creper, we unfortunately we didn't ask). We had dinner outside at our request and the evening was excellent. Small downside, (but not the fault of the boss) at 9:30 p.m. lights go out in the town: the mayor of the town of Epesses seems to have forgotten that the Puy du Fou Park was reopening and that tourists would come to his town to dine there and take advantage of the nice weather at the outdoor tables of the restaurants. Moreover, when we wanted to get our car back from the church parking lot, it was not easy to navigate in the dark. Ah! If I forgot, there was indeed lighting but by the lights of a car when we crossed the road to reach our car and very dangerous besides fortunately we were in basketball😉.

Appalling service. Families less welcome than group of adults. With Puy du fou a mile away, this place decided there will always be enough tourists. Avoid.

We were travelling and stopped to eat something. Very bad service. And the worst, creperie without crepes. I would better recommend a pastisserie (in the same square) close to it with better service and great cakes :)

Restaurant
"The Chansonnerie" is a medieval-themed restaurant located within the Puy du Fou amusement park. Visitors are impressed by the high quality and flavorful dishes offered at reasonable prices, considering it's inside an amusement park. The restaurant's ambiance, menu options, and attentive staff receive praise for creating a perfect dining experience.
The place makes you feel like you're eating back in time. All the decor, plates and so on are well chosen. Service is decent but could be paying more attention. Food was very good and in abundant quantity. We booked in advance and everything was ready when we arrived.
Ivonig C — Google review
Upon entering the restaurant it felt like stepping back in time. The space isn't big which is nice because it doesn't get crowded. At first, everyone was quiet but after a few sips of red wine the conversations started to flow ☺️ The servers were very nice and attentive and since it was a sit down meal everything was served to us. The food was great and the portions were large. When we arrived at our table the appetizers were already waiting for us. There was a big bowl of potato salad, some cold cuts with cornichons and bread. My son on the other hand had a different meal. For his appetizer he was served a mousse de canard which he didn't like so he ended up eating our food 😅 For the main course, we had a large portion of pork with choucroute. We truly enjoyed this meal as the pork was cooked so well we couldn't even taste the grease or fat. My son happily devoured his two large sausages with vegetables. The food was beautifully prepared. A small resealable glass bottle of red wine and a clay pitcher of cold water were also included in the meal. If you want an extra drink like a soda you will have to pay it on the spot and they will deliver it to you. To end our dinner we were served a delicious gâteau Charlotte au chocolat with crème anglaise and an option of either coffee or tea was also part of the meal. As for the kids, they served a popsicle. We were so full and contented afterwards. It wasn't a buffet, but we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I highly recommend this restaurant! 👍🏻😊👍🏻

Disgraceful vegetarian menu. As a starter while paying the same price as the meat menu you only get to share a salad with those having ordered meat. So vegetarian menu is not a replacement but just the meat menu without meat. The actual meal had an repeated eggs that was uneatable. Avoid at all cost if vegetarian.
Diego F — Google review
To be avoided at all costs for vegetarian - it is a scam paying 26 euros for a salade , the main is the most disgusting plate - spinach with egg with potato. The dessert - it was supposed to be a trolley of dessert - well it is one dessert ! Worst experience ever ! The experience was different for non vegetarian.
Tiphanie G — Google review
To be honest, wasn't bad, wasn't great. The salades are like appetizers' size. The mains.... Not much better. Only one desert is freshly made. And not cheap at all. Check other places in the park. Otherwise, just bring your food.

(Translated by Google) This restaurant is magnificent, I loved the setting! A rather nice single menu. The starter was okay, a small downside was the potato salad, I think they are vacuum-packed... Otherwise, the meat in the dish was very good and the vegetables were good too. The dessert was industrial but not bad and for the price I really found it decent and generous!

All you can eat, limited selection buffet. If you're not first, you're last, so make sure to get what you think you'll want first because when they run out, they don't replace the desserts. Crowded tables Food was OK No such thing as waiters here, good luck.

(Translated by Google) You have to queue for everything (once for the starter, a second time for the main course, and a third time for dessert). The entire buffet meal is served on a long table. Personally, I wasn't exactly delighted. I think it's the worst restaurant in the nightlife district. The dining room is huge and in keeping with the period theme, but it's very noisy, and the tables are crowded together. In terms of value for money, it's more expensive than other restaurants in the nightlife district, and the wine glass size is smaller.

(Translated by Google) We had a great time! It was really good, the place is magnificent, we are totally immersed in the era of the Sun King, the buffet is divided into 3 (starter, main course and dessert with cheese) and there are 2 sides which have exactly the same dishes. It was very good even if unfortunately I find that there were not too many different choices. The idea of playing in mirror is a very good idea but perhaps for the food it would have been better to diversify more.
