Odessa in 3 days

If you only have 3 days to spend in Odessa, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Odessa is a Black Sea port city known for its grand 19th-century architecture, sandy beaches, and lively seaside promenades. Visitors come to see landmarks like the Potemkin Stairs, the ornate Odessa Opera and Ballet Theater, and the historic Passage arcade. The city has long been a cultural crossroads, reflected in its museums, theaters, and mix of Russian, Ukrainian, and Jewish heritage. Travelers should check current safety and travel advisories due to Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine before planning a visit.
With favorites like Very Smachno, Odesa Dolphinarium Nemo, and Lviv Handmade Chocolate, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Lviv Handmade Chocolate and KlaraBara so you can get the best taste of Odessa while you’re here. Flea & Street Markets
Privoz Market, also known as the "Supply Place" in Russian, is a historic market dating back to 1827 in Odessa. It offers a wide range of products including fresh produce, secondhand goods, and affordable clothing. Despite its historical significance during the Communist era for ensuring ample food supply, it continues to be a must-see due to its massive size and diverse offerings.
I went here few years ago, this place is huge! Has everything you need! Fresh produce, wonderful selection of sea food!
Alejandro P — Google review
during the war there were fewer sellers, but it's still a magical place where you can buy anything from North Face knockoffs to good fish and rennet cheese. Those are strangely cheaper than in a super market. I recommend beef there on Saturday, fresh slaughter on site. cheap
Marek R — Google review
Absolute heaven on earth for people looking for authentic and organic foods. The market is huge, crowded and hard to maneuver before you get accustomed. It is part of the charm. Here you will find all fruits, vegetables, berries, meets, fish, milk products etc that Ukraine has to offer. They also have product from neighboring countries like Georgia, Moldova and Turkey.
Aleksander F — Google review
When I stumbled unexpectedly the first time I flipped a lid. This place is brimming with life, spices and buildings separate to each other for different markets. There is a building for dried meats, one for seafood with fish jumping waiting to be purchased, it's endless and you need a full day to just walk and look before you would even consider buying anything it's that overwhelming. I since found out that this market is famous throughout the whole Soviet Union. It is an absolute must.!!!
David C — Google review
amazing market. the best place to go and get whatever food you need. they are very organized and have separate areas for different type of products; beef, pork, lamb, chicken, dairy, cured goods, honey. you can expect to get the best prices here and goods you'll not find anywhere else I was able to get some fresh from the cow milk here for 50 cents a liter, it was great.
Gary D — Google review
Huge market. From food to clothing items can be purchased here. Most of the food items from various sellers were found to be fairly fresh with sometimes price differences for the same item depending on the seller. If you are not in a hurry you can save a bunch by taking time to look all over the market before making a purchase. Inside the market was fairly clean however, some of the streets surrounding the market were littered with refuse that definitely was an eye sore with attention quite needed. In all it was a decent market with different boutiques and restaurants in the surroundings. Update July 30th, 2021: As an update to my earlier review, a lot has changed in terms of surroundings and stalls added to this market. The changes are remarkable and actually beautify the market! The Tram tracks and stops had been replaced and now it's like night and day compared to what it was when I first wrote my review. Kudos!
Henry A — Google review
An absolutely must see and must be in Odessa. This place is full of people - locals and tourists (you can chat with locals, since they are talkative). You can buy here absolutely everything - exotic fruit, spices, seafood, as well as local ones- fresh watermelons, grapes, tomatoes. What is not nice about this place is the smell in the place where meat is. And the worst thing is the fact that majority of stalls closes around 5PM, and there's information that it's working till 7PM.
Agata G — Google review
Anything you need, you can find at this market for an affordable price. It's a confluence between different coulinaire cultures. From fresh first to brand new clothes, from different meat types to all types of cheeses.

Clean shopping centre with budget brands and good selection of groceries. It's not a fancy mall still great place to visit.

A big local market in the heart of the city with chipset prices. Can be very crowded, traffic jam in the rush hours. Tricks, cheats and thieves are present.

The Monument to Ilf and Petrov, located in the City Park on Deribassovska Street, is a bronze sculpture commemorating the Soviet authors of 'The Twelve Chairs.' This beloved monument features a small chair placed on a marble pedestal, accompanied by a suitcase that belonged to Ostap Bender. It has become a favorite spot for both locals and visitors alike.
Interesting monument - tourists favorite! In the heart of the city. Must see for lovers of "12 Chairs" - check also signatures on the chair.

I can't believe it. I saw the Russian movie 12 Chairs. It was funny. Mel Brooks, Dom DeLuise in it. Now I stumble on a statue in City Garden Park of the chair Kisa Vorobyaninov (Ron Moody) and character Ostap Bender (Frank A. Langella Jr.) looked for.

The monument to the 12th Chair, dedicated to Ilf and Petrov, famous authors of the novel “Twelve Chairs”, is located in the center of Southern Palmira, in the City Park on Deribassovska Street. The monument was opened on April 1, 1999. This monument is one of the favorite places of citizens and guests in the whole city. The monument is a little chair that is placed on the marble pedestal. Ear the chair there is a suitcase that belongs to Ostap Beder. On the back of the chair you can read the most famous expressions from the novel: “How much for opium for the people?”, “Kissia and Ossia were here”, “All the contraband is produced in Odessa on the Mala Arnautska Street” etc. There is also a phrase written on the pedestal “Citizens of Odessa – Ilf and Petrov”. The chair is famous for the fact that visitors can sit on it and take beautiful pictures. One of the local citizens also thought of a great way to make profit: he is offering to take picture on the chair with the hat and the scarf.

The nightlife in Odessa is diverse and dynamic, offering something for everyone, from music enthusiasts to those looking to soak in local culture.
Beautiful opera house, inside and out. I ended up attending a small local performance that wasn't even in the main part, but held in the outer walkway which was interesting.
Ethan S — Google review
This place is just majestic. Absolutely beautiful and astounding work of architecture. The surrounding location and water fountain are also magnificent. I saw Carmen and the tickets were extremely affordable for the masterful performance. This was my first Opera viewing and it was absolutely delightful. I felt very dapper for that evening. This is a must-see in Odessa and I urge you to see an opera while you visit, the acoustics and seating were phenomenal. I would do this again as a first-time goer to the Opera.

Spectacular architecture with very nice outside settings not far from the beach. I visited it in October 2022, and finally, watched Opera Turandot in March 2025. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Worthy of 5 stars. It’s a beautiful opera house. Very accessible. Decent prices. Relaxed atmosphere. I saw Madame Butterfly. Surprised me how few people dress up here. Appreciative audience. Very good singers
Jeremy K — Google review
My wife and I were there watching the opera Carmen. We had the pleasure of sitting in a box. An incredible atmosphere, an architecturally very interesting building. In the breaks between the files you can have a good look at the inside of the opera and take photos. The staff were very helpful in finding the right place.
Carsten V — Google review
Took a guided tour but unfortunately it was in Russian and not in English. However, I still enjoyed the tour because of the fascinating interior architecture designs of the theatre. Was built in the 1800s making it one of the oldest opera theatres in the world and it is the most famous landmark of Odessa that you definitely want to visit. The Swan Lake was being preformed in the theatre when I was in Odessa but unfortunately tickets were sold out!

Good park, with its unique atmosphere. You can still have a walk, in there and feel it's post glory and magnificence. One of most underrated things in this park is Odessa observatory! You should definitely pay them a visit!

Great park for walking around. Several fountains, monuments and benches looking like open books make it a nice park to both chill and stroll. There are several stands selling drinks and snacks so you won't go hungry either.

A very good park for walking and jogging. It has the Chornomorets football stadium in the center, which is the main football team representing the city. The park is neatly maintained and as clean as it can get. It even has several fountains around it, and pretty benches shaped like open books(which contains details about the famous ukranian writers) near the monument of Shevchenko. There's also an open air theatre inside which is a must visit during summer days.

I went here with my kids thinking it would be kind of lame (but amazing for children). I was completely wrong. It was very interesting and fun for adults too. In fact I saw some adults having more fun than their kids (I won't say I wasn't one of them:) ) we ended up staying there until closing and had a blast, both kids and 4 adults between 25-38

Lviv Handmade Chocolate is a café with an extensive range of chocolates and sweets, perfect for any chocolate lover. The cafe has a friendly staff who will help you find the perfect gift.
The only bad thing about this shop is how much you will spend on tasty chocolate. Small, but very good.

Tasty chocolates and friendly service, although nothing super special. I didn't try their drinks or cakes as I didn't have time, I heard that the hot chocolate was very nice. Slightly on the expensive side by Ukrainian standards, but OK for westerners.
Stephen P — Google review
Cozy hangout place with nice romantic European atmosphere. You can experience a glimpse of Lviv without being in Lviv. There is a whole array of chocolates in varying shapes and flavors along with drinks. I had a dark chocolate latte and it was great. A tad over sweetened but dark chocolates bitterness helped it to balance. You can also get a table service here by the way. English menu is available and the pricing is very reasonable as well. I would recommend the Lviv style cheesecake.

If you're seeking a charming dining experience in Odessa, look no further than Klarabara. Nestled within the serene City Garden, this stylish eatery offers a delightful menu featuring traditional Ukrainian borsch soup, succulent Black Sea salmon, and the delectable Georgian khachapuri pastry. Guests rave about the inviting atmosphere enhanced by live jazz performances at nearby Perron 7 club. Klarabara stands out for its exceptional service and cozy ambiance—perfect for intimate conversations with friends or even casual Russian lessons!
Fantastic place - delicious authentic food excellently served in well-designed interiors (and a nice spacious outside patio area). Daily catch makes a nice add-on to already well balanced breakfast menu. Strongly recommended all day (or year) around.
Martin D — Google review
Nice park view. Food is good, but I've had much better in Odessa. Skip the meze platter. Tasty soups & caviar, though! 3 stars for food, an extra star for the park view. My favourite thing about this place was the vibe dining al fresco when musicians started playing in the park. Lovely experience of Odessa in summer.
Monica M — Google review
We had a wonderful experience here. The meze set was nice and pork chops were excellent. My only recommendation for the is to stop serving the quinoa salad hot, the flavors just don't blend well.
Nir O — Google review
We really enjoyed this restaurant: first of all it's very romantic (even with our 18 month old joining us), and the food was beyond tasty. The salads were amazing, the mussels and steak super tasty, and the Napoleon is a unique take on a dessert classic that is worth coming here on its own. We'll definitely return again if we come back to Odessa.

I liked this restaurant the best of all the ones we tried in Odessa on this trip. My American fiance tried borscht at 3 different restaurants in Odessa and said this was best... and I will admit that my own borscht is not as good as theirs :) Our server was a real pro, and when we were there there was a performer singing in French. The live music was perfect - not too loud and created a very pleasant atmosphere. They even had a great odorless bug spray that was truly odorless and worked. Food all around was good and presented beautifully. Thank you!

Very, very nice place to visit. The main dinning room is divided into several areas, which makes it nice to talk with friends. I take my Russian lessons there with a friend twice a week. One time I was there and wanted breakfast, scrambled eggs with mushrooms, peppers , onions and cheese, it was not on the menu, but they were happy to make it that way for me and was excellent! The outside glass covered terrace is awesome looking out into City Park. I really enjoyed the fire place they had going when I was there. Will be going there many times.

"Very Smachno" is a popular spot for ordering food at home. Customers have enjoyed a variety of items including burgers, nuggets, shawarma, fries, and sushi. While the noodles were too salty with an excessive amount of soy sauce, overall the food was well-liked. The prices are considered average and delivery is fast. (Translated by Google) I ordered Ukrainian lunch. I was generally confused by everything: the hodgepodge was so hot that you had to wait 15 minutes until it became normal temperature, but the dumplings, on the contrary, were cold. and okay, if they were just cold, they would also stick together into a huge lump of dough. All in all, not the best lunch of my life (Original)

(Translated by Google) I really didn't like it. Pre-ordered for Valentine's Day. They demanded 50% advance payment. OK. We ordered on time - we were half an hour late. OK. If the food is delicious, it's all the little things. But! The cheese pizza arrived with cheap, regular hard cheese and a little bit of Dor Blue. There was cheap sausage in the meat shop - they removed it completely so as not to spoil the taste. The rolls are not rolled very tightly - they fall apart. In Philadelphia, fish with a fatty layer is the cheapest part, and there is very little cheese inside, one cucumber. Another roll, with avocado inside, arrived weathered, very cold, as if from the refrigerator; and the avocado was black. But they put disposable plates 👏 (Original)

We decided to place an order for several assorted dishes, but there was some kind of glitch and it wasn’t very good. They responded very quickly and well, explained the situation and offered a solution, which is a huge plus. We decided to try shawarma again, they brought, as for me, a masterpiece of this dish, as before. Delivery is fast. Worthwhile delivery with high level service.

(Translated by Google) One of the best deliveries in the city. We ordered rolls and pizza and drinks for a corporate party. The smart courier delivered everything on time, a polite, well-mannered boy. Everything was delicious, everyone liked it, everyone was satisfied. The pizza arrived hot (4 cheese pizza was my love from the first bite)), the rolls were bomb, all the products were fresh, the quality was excellent. Compote is like homemade. We will order more. Well done guys, keep it up. (Original) Одна из лучших доставок в городе. Заказывали на корпоратив роллы и пиццу, напитки. Курьер умничка все доставил вовремя вежливый , воспитанный мальчик. Maman is a charming eatery located in the heart of the city, offering traditional Odessa cuisine with a European twist. The restaurant provides a homestyle dining experience and features a terrace with views of the Palais-Royal Garden. Additionally, Maman by the Sea is situated on Lanzheron Beach, boasting an open kitchen where guests can witness the preparation of Odessa's famous dishes and Japanese Robata Grilling. The menu includes a variety of seafood and cocktails from the bar.
Great Ukrainian food amazing atmosphere you can dine on the garden or indoors, the foods is super. Try to book before coming so you can get garden table if you want when we went there it was already full and they asked if we had reservation

Great interior and a big sitting area in the Opera garden. Prices are less than average in the city centre. Food is good. I have had both breakfast, lunch and dinner here. Good and efficient service

Not the cheapest place to eat but the service, location and atmosphere are great. You get to eat outside in Opera's garden if you wish. When it's hot, they create share and a breeze to make their outdoor seating wonderful. Also the serving of food is very pretty. You need at least 200 gvn per person.

Very good atmosphere, relaxed place, good salad, Kachapuri and the mussels with curry were delicious and perfect for our taste, but be aware a little bit spicy. We even ordered extra bread to finish this amazing curry sauce

I went to this restaurant as it has good reviews in tripadvisor. The food is excellent and the service as well. They have english menu and even though the waiter didn't speak proper english he tryed his best. They have tables inside and outside in the backyard. It is quite nice to sit outside in nature when sunny and warm. Highly recommended.

Day 2

West side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the west side side of town. Start the day off with Potemkin Stairs, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Odesa Dolphinarium Nemo. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

The Potemkin Stairs is a famous landmark in Odessa, known for its appearance in the silent film Battleship Potemkin. Built in the 19th century, this formal entrance to the city from the sea consists of 192 steps that create an illusion of greater length. From below, only the steps are visible, while from above, only the landings can be seen.
An evocative place to visit for fans of the "Battleship Potemkin" movie. Few tourists in these difficult times, although there is an occasional little red 'tourist train' passing. A nice view down to the port and the Black Sea beyond. In May 2024 the funicular wasn't working
Stephen P — Google review
It’s not so hard to accomplish that, guys! Especially when you’re hungry and you know that upstairs is food 😂 But, honestly, beautiful place with a nice view of the Sea Port and the sea itself. In the square up there are colorful buildings and nice historical monuments. And a bunch of cool restaurants and bars! 😉
Kristina Z — Google review
One of the important places you must see in Odessa, don’t forget walking near forest, it is also near sea side, harbour, check around and take more pics, it is really suggested to visit. And there is a funicular train near stairs who doesn’t want to climb.
Emre D — Google review
Newly remodeled stairs are great! The area surrounding the stairs is a new park with lots of benches and sites to see. Pleasant experience for sure. There is also a children's playground that's clean and new!
Bill G — Google review
I love Potemkin Stairs day and night always busy always there is music or activities. Nice views one side you can see the sea other side nice city view. If you are in Central Odessa must go and see the stairs.
Zerya D — Google review
Definitely one of the must see places in Odessa! The sheer size of these monumental steps is amazing! And after the recent renovation they look even more beautiful. Also surrounded by new parks, right by the city center and also right by the Port. Perfect place to be!
Patrick B — Google review
A compulsory place to visit in Odessa. The most recognizable and at the same time one of the most crowded places. Personally, I thought they will be bigger and most impressive. But anyway the way upstairs is tiring. Beautiful view at the harbor. The stairs- a bit messy. I recommand to take the picture of them from the other side- there's a platform in the harbor.

Tioschin Bridge

(8813)
Tioschin Bridge, also known as Mother-In-Law Bridge, is a pedestrian bridge in Odessa that offers stunning views and unique attractions. Couples often visit to clip symbolic padlocks onto a heart sculpture, adding to the romantic ambiance of the area. The bridge spans a ravine near the port and was once adorned with love locks until they had to be removed due to concerns about its structural integrity.
Great views from the bridge and a special sculpture to hang your lock. Please don't place it on the bridge. It will be removed. Enjoy the view. :)
Thomas F — Google review
A very good view on the Odessa Port! Difficult to take a picture because the rails are very high. Nevertheless, looking down- maybe it is even better. The columns are being redecorated right now, as well as the palace. Unfortunately.
Agata G — Google review
Very nice place. You can find cute square at one side, and wall with graffiti for Ukrainian band Skryabin at opposite. Also, marvelous view to sea side from bridge itself.
Nazar L — Google review
Whist there are plenty pictures of the bridge, not so much of the artifacts and attractions at each end. Nice location but not too much of Old Odessa to see at the North end. Been repairing Vorontsov Palace and Greek Columns for some time now and nothing much seems to be happening - still boarded up but a nice walk all the same starting from Gogol Street
Capt H — Google review
The striking place of this bridge makes it a must visit. If you are walking down the way to see the Collonade and the Palace, you will surely take this bridge to go ahead to Shah's Palace. People jump on this bridge to feel it vibrating. Also, there are a few locks on this bridge like various other bridges in Europe.

The Odesa Fine Arts Museum, housed in the elegant Potocki Palace since 1899, showcases an extensive collection of mainly Ukrainian and Russian artworks. The museum features paintings, graphics, sculptures, and decorative art pieces. Visitors can admire valuable iconography from the 16th-18th centuries as well as works by renowned artists such as Aivazovsky, Shishkin, Repin, Levitan, Vrubel and many others.
In the current situation, I understand why you can only see these works. But at least it is open, and I saw works of art and interesting things that made it worth going to the museum. I also thank the kindness of several employees there, who tried to tell me everything they knew, but the language barrier got in the way. But in the end, we made it!

Mendelevich Passage, located near the City Garden along Derybasivska Street in Odessa, is a magnificent 19th-century hotel building. The ground floor features a luxurious Neo-Baroque passage with a glass and metal ceiling that allows natural light to illuminate the space. Odesa Dolphinarium Nemo is a popular attraction where visitors can interact with dolphins and enjoy entertaining show programs. The dolphinarium also offers dolphin therapy for kids and adults, making it a great place for family relaxation. Additionally, guests can choose to visit the attached modern hotel of the same name or enjoy the sea view with a glass of wine at M1 restaurant.
Stunning performance. Incredibly well done. The trainers are acrobatic and the dolphins are just so smart! And man they can jump so ridiculously high! Like 3 body lengths high. It is a must go attraction and really, my favourite place in Odessa. The seats are well designed and no one is blocking your view. Great show and great price just perfect
I-Hsin Y — Google review
Nice show, dolphins are well trained. The only bad thing is the lack of space for dolphins but they still have better living condition than most Ukrainians.
Michał S — Google review
Wonderful experience, wonderful creatures and a lovely atmosphere. The show i enjoyed had appearances of fur seals, sea lions and a handful of dolphins. The trainers are exceptionally well prepared. The show had a wonderful theme and was very exciting. Only thing i did not enjoy was the fact that the show is largely spoken in Russian, even though there were enough foreign people present. If you love dolphins, don't miss out on this incredible experience.
David I — Google review
Great place to visit and enjoy the show, especially with kids. They will definitely love it. First row may get you wet. Oceanarium does not make much sense to visit- it’s very small, just two rooms.
Darius S — Google review
Great place to visit and bring your kids. I don't know what happens behind the scenes, but the show was outstanding.
Sorin Ș — Google review
They have an aquarium and dolphin show both with separate entry. The aquarium was only 100 so I entered it. It's pretty small with 1 small room for aquatic animals and another room for lizards, butterflies and insects. It was worth the 100 I think. Staff was friendly and it was something different to do in ukraine. Just keep in mind it's only 2 small rooms. For 100 they can let you hold some of the lizards or snake and have your picture taken with them which was pretty fun.
M G — Google review
Animal cruelty in a "5" star hotel. Horrible. Things like that should be prohibited. Why is nobody doing anything against that? How can people visit that place to support such a cruelty on animals 4 dolphins in a mini pool, full with tourists. Government should act. I cannot understand how people can support that. This is inhuman. But, karma.

Excellent beachfront restaurant with amazing dishes to choose from. I had a delicious pineapple sour with Zacapa rum & clear ice/hand cut cube, tiger prawns and Black mussels in a white wine, cream sauce. So fresh and flavorful! I highly recommend!

We wanted to visit the beach and eat some fish. Check on google we find this place and right away headed there. It’s seems to be the only upper level fish place in all the Beach area. We had some Tatar’s, soup and fish. It was good service and food was quite good. With 3.500 for 3 people it wasn’t cheap but fair for quality and service. We definitely recommend that place.

This establishment is on track for a long lasting future. From the moment you walk in, you feel like you just travelled into another world. The service staff were extremely professional and made you feel like a real guest. Compliments to our server and especially the bartender for making me a pisco sour which was an off menu drink. It was awesome and tasted better than my own at home. The menu has a wide variety of options to choose from and does a great job of showcasing the level of skill the culinary team possesses. The Chef here is clearly skilled. The food was not only delicious but comforting. Thank you for an amazing experience.

The staff was great. They spoke Excellent English and also had an English menu. The food was well prepared (probably the best steak I have ever had in Ukraine). The food not only looked amazing but it tasted great too. They also have amazing desserts. I can recommend the Kiev Cake!! The portions are large but the price is too. What a great place. Such a relaxing, romantic atmosphere, lovable decoration ideas. The quality of food and service is high. Admins and waiters are polite and helpful. Big selection of cakes that look and taste awesome. And tea! Finally the tea is loose big leaf not a teabag what gives it strong flavor and bitter taste (appreciated by strong tea lovers). Great job to all the Terrace team. You made our time out great.

The place looks great and has some nice food as well. But you need to watch out, our waiter kept trying to sell us things which were off menu which were much more expensive... In addition the menu states the price for 100g but the minimum portion size can be 300g or higher sometimes which brings the price way higher and the waiter wouldn't warn you at all.

Kinza is a popular Georgian restaurant located on Deribasovskaya Street in the heart of Odessa. The restaurant offers a variety of delicious Georgian dishes and has received positive feedback for its flavorful food. Customers have particularly enjoyed the Kharcho soup, which is described as comforting and perfect for lifting one's spirits. While some recommend making a reservation, others have found it unnecessary, especially if you prefer outdoor seating when the weather is nice.

The food is so good! The chef must be one of the best. The food is not only amazingly tasty and beautiful, but the flavours are combined in ways that are new but somehow feel like you’ve always loved them this way. It is like high cuisine and home cooked food at the same time. We were pleasantly surprised with the service, especially with our three noisy kids and the large stroller. We felt very welcome and the kids enjoyed their modified custom meals. The special of the week, the pike was just out of this world. The greens in the salads were all super fresh. The kids loved the freshly made lemonades. The Napoleon cake is very tender and soft with a perfectly moderated sweetness.

Start your day in Odessa with a delightful visit to Gogol-Mogol, a vibrant café that draws inspiration from a traditional egg-based dessert and the literary legacy of Nikolai Gogol. The eclectic decor features colorful bikes on the terrace, old lanterns, and whimsical items scattered throughout its ever-evolving interior. A unique twist here is the opportunity for patrons to exchange items within the café.
One of the most ambient places in Odessa. Even if you are here for the first time you should definitely visit this place. Expecially if you are here to try something special and not trivial. Located in a historical center. Authentic menu, unique interior and an option to sit both inside and outside distinguishes this place. P.S. I've have never thought that I'd post a photo from a restroom but just look how cool is this one. P.P.S.We had only 5 days in Odessa but we've collectively decide to visit Gogol Mogol twice. Absolutely mind-blowing deliciousness! Odessa is a great place to eat. But out of the 3 excellent restaurants we've gone to in Odessa, Gogol Mogol takes the palm: fresh, clean authentic tastes, very hearty dishes that all seems straight out from the books of different Grand-mas who would have shared their own special secret recipes to create the epitomy of Eastern cuisine. Even better: our waitress Tatiana was just... Perfect. Kind and extremely effective, good recommendation in English and very patient with our kind, the touristy "what's this what's that" kind. Thank you again for this amazing experience!!! We will come back to Odessa just to eat there. A must-taste.

Excellent cuisine, lots of place to sit outside during warm days. Moreover, it is close to center and yet located on a calm street...bit away from hustle bustle of deribasovskaya street.

Day 3

Off the beaten path
For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Monument to Alexander Pushkin. Not quite as popular as Odessa National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

Outdoor Activities
Lanzheron Beach is a vibrant spot that truly captures the essence of summer in Odessa. Located conveniently near Shevchenko Park and Nemo Club, it’s just a stone's throw from the city center, making it an ideal destination for both locals and tourists. While the beach can get quite crowded during peak summer days, especially with families enjoying their time off school, its lively atmosphere is part of its charm.
Super packed on any day of the week nowadays with it being summer and kids off school. Not many sandy areas to lay on but a completely convenient place having many cafes close by and various vendors walking around selling berries prawns drinks and sweets. Sea water temperature around 15 20 celcius :) refreshing ;) beer at just over 1 dollar a litre !!!
Luda I — Google review
Good place to visit, it is the first beach near Shevchenko Park and Nemo Club. It is closest to the centre of Odessa. In summer it is overcrowded and the best time to visit it is winter, late autumn or the beginning of spring. Water is very clean then. So, if you can't imagine your life without sea side like I do, the place is worth seeing😉
Олександра П — Google review
This beach was the highlight of our trip. Lanzheron was clean, picturesque, easily accessible from the center of town and to restaurants and cafes. In the middle of September it was not crowded but the water was still warm enough to swim in. We spent hours here on Sunday and will return on Monday!
Holly N — Google review
Public beach, with good location , close to the aqua park. There are some good food places around. Crowded at the summer, people are everywhere, and water is not such crystal.
Oksana L — Google review
This place is crowded and dirty. Trash is everywhere. In the sand, in the water, and anywhere else you could put trash. It would take much to clean it up. The chairs were old. They were also kind of expensive. Parking was outrageous. It was more to park than it was to rent three chairs! The pads were old but weren't worn. If you're a guy its worth the effort just to see the women there. If you're a woman, not worth the effort.
Pat B — Google review
The best beach in Odessa. The closest to the railway station and the city centre. Often crowded but water is clean and appearance is well. There are open sky films after 9 PM in summer.
Pavlo M — Google review
Nice beach in terms of sand and water but extremely crowded in the summer afternoons since it’s close to downtown. Situated at the bottom of a hill with not so many access points (just stairs at each end) so had to climb a small dirt road over the hill to get out
Hula T — Google review
A great place to take a walk, especially in spring - when it's already not cold outside, but still not many people on the beach.

Specialty Museums
Located on Pushkinska Street, a short distance from the Opera House in Odessa, the Odesa Museum of Western and Eastern Art is housed in a charming sky-blue mansion dating back to 1858. Despite its name, the museum primarily showcases art from Western Europe, particularly the Netherlands and Italy. The collection includes paintings, sculptures, porcelain, tapestries, and furniture spanning from the 15th to 20th centuries.
If you appreciate historical architecture and a diverse cultural collection spanning Europe and Asia, this museum is a gem. The palace itself is a work of art—both grand and graceful. Even in the face of wartime damage, the museum remains a vital cultural landmark worthy of support and admiration. Let me know if you'd like a concise version for a travel platform or a more casual style for social media!

Pleasant touch of one day glory, nowadays building requires renovation. Entry costs to the museum with the temporary excibition costs 100 uah.
Nataliia Y — Google review
Not big but nice museum with paintings of european painters. I haven't seen the art pieces of Scandinavian painters before, but here you can see them and they are beautiful! But sadly, many of the museum's halls are in really bad condition. The museum is in great need of restoration.
Victoria Y — Google review
Very cheap and beautiful pictures, the building is a wonderful palace. but no air condition and direct sun light on the pictures. The statues are mostly replicas.
Orna L — Google review
The museum has an interesting collection and for sure worth visiting if you happen to be in Odessa but I think it is not the kind of museum you would make a trip to Odessa to visit it. The bulding of the museum is so old and I think renovations is much needed!
Meshaal ( — Google review
It's small but everything in there is 1500_1600 and there's some real gems and also not so great but authentic pieces. Its well worth the visit.
David C — Google review
Good museum. A lot of pictures from 15 to 20 century (not replicas) from western europe, beautiful interior of 18 century. And I found cool snickers on the picture about ancient Egypt written in 1884
Oleksandr D — Google review
A couple of roads down from the Opera House, on Pushkins’ka Sreet is a compelling art museum in a noble sky-blue mansion from 1858. The museum was founded in 1923 and its art comes from a mix of private collections and pieces assembled by Odessa’s university. The name is a little misleading, as apart from a some porcelain, weapons and pieces of furniture nearly all the art is from western Europe, mainly the Netherlands and Italy. There are paintings by Caravaggio, Rubens, Francesco Guardi, Gerard David and Abraham Bloemart. Maybe the standouts are the two “tronies” of the evangelists St Luke and St Matthew by the Dutch Baroque master Frans Hals

Historical landmark
The Monument to Alexander Pushkin is a bronze statue of the renowned poet and author, situated on a granite pedestal that was erected in 1959. The pediment of the building features busts of other influential figures in Russian literature and art. This monument holds historical significance as it was the first dedicated to Pushkin in Ukraine and the second in the Russian Empire. It is considered one of the best portraits of Pushkin, capturing his likeness remarkably well.
Poetry and beauty in one. The whole area is more than amazing and the spring weather can only compliment one's walk with charm and flowers.

Close to the monument, you can find an old canon of a British warship which sunk during the Crimea war.

The first monument to Alexander Pushkin in Ukraine and the second in the Russian Empire was opened in Odessa on the Primorsky Boulevard in 1889 Zh.Polonskaya was a sculptor, and A. Vasiliev – an architect. The bust is made of bronze. Pedestal – granite. This monument is considered one of the best in portrait likeness. Pushkin spent 13 months in 1823-1824in Odessa. He sang his poems in Odessa. The street on which he lived during some time was called the Italian (now Pushkinskaya). He died in 1837 in a duel.

The Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral, also known as the Transfiguration Cathedral, is a monumental Russian Orthodox cathedral with a rich history dating back to 1808. Despite being destroyed by Stalin, it has been restored and stands as a towering symbol of resilience. Affiliated with the Ukrainian Orthodox church, it holds historical significance as the first church in Odessa and serves as the burial place for bishops and the prince.
wow! if you don't believe in God, you must go there ! i feel his presence everytime i go there. i feel such positive energy and compassion each time i walk into the cathedral. i live only a half block from the place. the 30days i must spend away every 90 days makes me miss the wonderful feeling i receive from being there.

This is worth a visit, despite being less decorated than many Orthodox churches and cathedrals. I have been many times and it's always interesting to see new decorations and improvements. This is not completed and probably several more years of work needed to complete all murals and so on.

“Transfiguration Cathedral” in English, the seat of the Kryvyi Rih diocese is a nine-domed church that was only started in 1989 and completed in 2003. Permission was granted to build this new cathedral on a on a small rise to accommodate the city’s Orthodox congregation that outgrew the Saviour-Ascension Church. Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral is a revival of the Ukrainian Baroque style from the 18th century and has nine domes and a bell tower 50 metres in height. This contains 22 bells cast in Novovolynsk, the heaviest weighing 1,200 kg. If you can get in, there are icons of St George and Matrona Nikonova and four altars to admire.

We came to Odessa for a day and were looking for a place to stay on the beach to kill time before the train. We found sun loungers next to this restaurant, so we decided to stay. No regrets at all. The food, the service, the cocktails and the atmosphere were amazing. I had an avocado salmon toast, which was good enough, but the cheese sauce saved it. My son had chicken sausage, which he liked a lot. For dinner we had very tasty pork shashlik and beef medallions with roasted vegetables. Exceptionally good and the sauces in this place are fantastic. Highly recommend Pina Colada👌 the only thing I found the prices for drinks are a bit expensive.

Pros: best crème brûlée ever, the sweetest staff. Cons: mixed terrace areas for non-smokers and smokers, like, go inside if you want clean air, really?
Iryna M — Google review
Took almost 1 hour to get the food. The food itself was ok, a bit tasteless. But the bill was sick. And their menu is so confusing. Definitely one of the most expensive restaurants in Odessa. And with that said the food should at least be better than this. I live in on of the most expensive countries in the world. And for the same price there I could get a super fancy dinner. The limit was reached when they asked us if we wanted to pay the tipping in cash or card. At least they could give us a bread or something while waiting for the food - or say sorry for waiting. I tip if the service is great. Not if I'm forced.

Wow!! Great Italian food, honestly, much better than many places we visited in Italy. The atmosphere is great, food delicious, service is amazing. The place is also child friendly, there is a separate room with toys, games and sometimes with nany too )). We always come back to Fratelli when visiting Odessa, and every time it keeps the high standards. Highly recommend!!

What a nice restaurant for lunch time, especially if you can enjoy the terrace which is quiet and peaceful. It's a new menu I think, Italian oriented. We took the pasta with seafood, and I was impressed by the quality : perfect dosage between pasta, sauce, ingredients. Cooked like in french / Italian restaurants. A good surprise with good prices. Waiters are not insistant, which is good for a place like this. Good choice of desserts, wine, coffees and teas

The venue combines elements of a sports cafe and bar, creating a warm and familiar atmosphere where patrons can enjoy delicious steaks and remarkable service. The staff's proficiency in English is noted, making it an inviting spot for international visitors.
Great beer, great and speedy kitchen. Steak burger with tender steak and proper coulslow. Roasted midias caught from the sea just the same day.

Cool place, bit overpriced. They have special offer everyday, ordered veg pita from that but the waiter assumed that we don't speak Russian and didn't gave the discount.. however on requesting another cheque and asking about it, he soon realized that we are familiar with their techniques. So be aware if you speak only English, this place may try to charge you more for things.

Awesome little sports bar. Barman speaks good English and is able to recommend places to see and go. Very good prices. Good menu with a large variety of dishes, unfortunately the steak is very tough and not really cooked very well, other dishes were excellent. Good music, good vibes, staff are awesome. 1 thumbs up from me, so close to 2 but the steak let them down.
Phil S — Google review
Good service; when I ordered my dish, the waiter told the time it takes to prepare the dish. Regularly checking if anything else is needed. The meat and other stuff in the burger were excellent and indeed tasty, only the bun was disappointing, it was too soft and industrial compared to the other elements, which were just marvellous and indeed tasty. Worth visiting some more times and check their steaks. And not to forget, at least two football (the real one) shown Live on several screens.

Very good place! I came back almost every day for a week to try all their different breakfast. Everything is so good. Cosy atmosphere; nice and attentive staff; good food and the latte was something! Definitely recommend this place.

Nice place for breakfast, good and fresh assortment, and menu flexibility, but we faced not pleasant staff who reacted to our claim quite arrogantly. Last our visit (on Fri evening), the waiter showed the box where we can get paper and pencils for drawing by ourselves; this time we came again and took pencils again by ourselves, but got an aggressive reaction from the staff without any explanations. The administration managed the case effectively, but the morning vibe was spoiled.

Place with a nice idea, cozy design and tasty food. Unfortunately my eggs in Odessa breakfast were pretty cold and a bread which they served instead a pita bread (they ran out of it) with shakshuka wasn’t a ciabatta as they called it. Despite this moments I can recommend this place and it’s worth to try if you are in Odessa.
