Unforgettable Kilimanjaro Climb – 6-Day Machame Route Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro was one of the most unforgettable adventures of my life. We did the 6-day trek via the Machame Route, starting from Machame Gate and making our final summit push from Kosovo Camp. I was part of a group of 14 trekkers from all over the worldl, and I’m proud to say everyone made it to the summit – Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa! The route was incredibly scenic — from lush rainforests to alpine deserts and snow-covered slopes near the top. Every day brought something new. Highlights included the challenging Barranco Wall, the peaceful Karanga Camp, and of course, standing on the roof of Africa at 5,895 meters. The local guides and porters were outstanding — supportive, experienced, and truly the heart of the journey. Reaching the summit together with my group was an emotional and proud moment. If you’re dreaming of climbing Kilimanjaro, I highly recommend the Machame Route. It’s physically demanding but incredibly rewarding. A once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Incredible end to end. We did the Machame route, 6 days with summit day starting at midnight. Great journey and experience with endless breath taking views, highly recommend if you are considering.

The Roof Of Africa, the highest free standing mountain in the world. A mountain to embrace and except it's power, authority and place in the world. We did the 7 days route, and it was first a walk, connecting with nature, then a physical challenge, then a mental challenge and towards the end a spiritual challenge and the belief in yourself to succeed. It's not easy, to many risks but it's your determination and will that will get you over the finish line. If you think you got what it takes and by the means then this challenge is for you, cause the mountain will definitely take everything you got but will leave you rewarded, satisfied and respected. Go experience, conserve and enjoy. Your in conservation.

Our Kilimanjaro climb would not have been possible without the incredible support of our mountain team from Kili Backcountry Adventure (IG: @kili_backcountry_adventure) Two guides, one chef, one camp manager, and thirteen porters walked alongside us—quiet heroes who made sure we could focus on the climb while they took care of everything else. Every morning, they greeted us with warm water to wash our faces, delicious meals to fuel our bodies, and encouragement to keep going. By the time we reached each new basecamp, our tents were already set up, meals were cooking, and smiles were waiting. They checked our health every morning and night, making sure we stayed strong enough to continue. Through the cold, the altitude, and the long days, this team became our backbone—lifting us up when we felt like we couldn’t go any further. Summiting Kilimanjaro was a team victory, not just ours, but theirs too. PS: They speak Swahili and most of them are Tanzanian soccer players ❤️
Zied S — Google review
We did the 7 day Machame route and with the help of our team, we made it to the top with no problems. Unfortunately, there was a thick fog blocking the sunrise but the hike was still beautiful. It was very satisfying to get to the peak. We used acetazolamide and had almost no symptoms. The summit was a little cold but it was otherwise basically a long hike. The camping lifestyle was probably the hardest adjustment. However, we were well taken care of. We used Majestic Kilimanjaro to book our Kili summit. We only have great things to say about our experience. Our two guides were Nickson Elisanteand Naiman Akyoo and our chef was Aman Ereneji. They were professional, insightful, friendly, and took excellent care of us. Not only did we have a successful trip to the summit, but a fun time as well.

Uhuru Peak is the highest point on one of Kilimanjaro's volcanic cones, standing at 19,354 feet. Hiking to Uhuru Peak typically takes 5 to 8 days, with various ascending routes offering different levels of difficulty and duration. The Marangu route is notable for its hut accommodations at Mandara, Horombo, and Kibo huts. Reaching Uhuru Peak offers stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro and nearby glaciers.
An exhilarating feeling to make it up here at Uhuru Peak. It was very exhausting to make 1250m elevation gain over 5km at this altitude, but the beautiful sunrise and views of the surrounds and the glacier made it all worthwhile 👍 all 9 of us made it up, big kudos to our guides and porters who made this possible!
Jean1 T — Google review
I went there with my wife and 4 kids last year. The summit was unbelievable, but the true beauty was the journey getting there.
Taylor P — Google review
We summited on the 5th of September / 8 days Lemosho Route and it was the hardest , most exhausting climb ever. I was fighting altitude sickness, extreme tiredness (no chance to sleep much at Barafu camp due to the lack of oxygen) , cold temperatures, darkness. I advise everyone to do the climb during the day and not in the night. Diamox helped only a little with altitude sickness. The headache, the nausea were terrible. But I made it on top and back down by myself; while others were brought down in the arms of the porters. The helicopter can pick up the climbers in distress only from the base camp and only during the day; and it costs 3500 $. The views from top were nice. Too bad there was not much left of the glacier (due to climate change according to our guides). If possible, please use local guides to organize the trip. At least the money goes to the locals directly. We climbed with Eliaza Mmbaga and it was a great experience. Good luck !

Roof of Africa and the tallest free standing mountain peak. The trek up is absolutely worth it but not for the faint hearted- requires physical stamina and mental strength!
Gokul S — Google review
Our World Vision Team spent six incredible days with the goal to reach Uhuru Peak. The hike up the mountain was physically and mentally challenging. Every step - Pole Pole - climbing higher and higher. Once you get to the Peak, the accomplishment is something beyond words and the views reveal God’s creative brilliance.

The breathtaking views from the summit are truly unforgettable. If you ever have the chance to experience it, I highly recommend seizing the opportunity. The memories created will stay with you for a lifetime. The individuals who help make it all possible, along with the awe-inspiring power of nature and the mountain itself, are truly humbling.

Furtwangler Glacier

(7)
Glacier
Nestled near the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, the Furtwangler Glacier is a captivating remnant of the once-massive ice cap that adorned this iconic peak. However, its future hangs in the balance, with researchers warning that it could vanish as early as 2060 due to climate change. This glacier serves as a poignant reminder of our planet's shifting environment and offers visitors a glimpse into what was once an expansive icy landscape.

Stella Point

Hiking area
Stella Point is a significant milestone for climbers on their way to conquering Kibo peak, located 5.3km from Kibo hut at an elevation of 5739m. Reaching this point marks a major achievement, with successful climbers receiving silver certificates. The view from Stella Point includes beautiful glaciers and a glimpse of the crater, making it a worthwhile stop before reaching Uhuru Peak. Despite the challenging ascent and strong winds, the experience is described as breathtaking and rewarding.
Incredible hike from Barafu Camp to Stella Point. Reached Stella as the sun was rising, and it gave me a spectacular display. It was chilly, but the extra energy the light gave me was enough to let me push on to the summit.
Ben A — Google review
On the way up I thought I would never make it to Stella point. It was a never ending way up and up and up while fighting altitude sickness, exhaustion, cold temperatures. If you made it here ... you are a hero already! Congratulations! The views are nice (but I couldn't enjoy much because of feeling so sick). My advice...do the summit climb during the day. Good luck!
N P — Google review
Stella Point (5,756m / 18,885ft) is one of the key milestones on the Machame and Lemosho routes to Kilimanjaro’s summit, Uhuru Peak. Located on the crater rim, it marks the end of the steep, challenging ascent from Barafu Camp and offers the first breathtaking views into the crater. While not the official summit, reaching Stella Point is a huge achievement—many trekkers celebrate here before the easier 1-hour hike to Uhuru Peak (5,895m).
Greatjourney S — Google review
This to me is the point at which when you reach at, you know you deserve a medal. Take a minute and pat yourself at the back. In my opinion Sunrise as Stella point should still be enjoyed as at Uhuru peak. At Stella point you can still see the beautiful glaciers and a view of the crater.
Kagochi T — Google review
So much better than the actual Uhuru Peak. Once you've suffered to this point you will get a major feeling of achievement by the first glimpse into the crater in front of you and the beautiful sunrise behind. What a great point on the way to the actual top...

A fantastic place to be with great views of the surrounding area. The day we went, the wind was svery strong, one of the strongest in the past 6 years. Uhuru Peak is an easy 45 minutes away, don't give up and make sure you get to the peak.

Last stop before the top, go to bed early and start on the last part of the route at midnight. The view is excellent, remember to enjoy it.

Gillman's Point is a remarkable milestone on the journey to conquer Mount Kilimanjaro, situated along various climbing routes including the Kibo and Lemosho paths. As climbers ascend from School Hut, they merge with other trails before reaching this breathtaking vantage point. Many adventurers have shared their experiences of witnessing stunning sunrises here after days of challenging ascent, although some choose not to continue to Uhuru Peak due to exhaustion or discomfort.
We had a wonderful sunrise here after 5 days ascent (rongai route). We didn't go further to Uhura. I had a strong stomach ache. So we watched the sunrise for half an hour and then decided to descent. It was perfect. No need to go to the (real) summit in pain.

Gillmans point is part of the Kilimanjaro climb routes. You can access Gillmans point via Kibo Hut. Access to Gillmans can be via Kibo route or via other routes that access Uhuru Peak.
