Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a prime location for tracking mountain gorillas, offering a more affordable option compared to other areas. It's easily accessible from Kigali, reducing travel time. Permits and drivers can be arranged in advance for around 3 million or obtained in town the day before at a lower cost. The forest can be reached from Kampala or Kigali by bus, with native performances upon arrival.
Amazing. Must visit in Uganda. The permit cost is a problem (currently $800 per person in April 2025) but worthwhile and it goes to conservancy

Amazing experience! I hope the rules of 10m distance from the gorillas would be enforced better as they did seem a bit annoyed at times but otherwise definitely recommended

Biwindi Impenetrable Forest was the highlight of our 21 day safari in Uganda with The Shuttle Hospitality Tour group. The interaction we had with the gorillas was unbelievable. The rangers and the porters were fantastic and made the trek up and down the mountains so much easier. If you’re thinking of coming to Uganda, do NOT pass up the opportunity to visit Bwindi.

Truly a bucket list experience. We were fortunate enough to see the Christmas & Busingye gorilla groups from two different gates. Both locations were extremely different with the Busingye in a more forest location whilst the Christmas family were in deep rainforest. Would highly recommend multiple visits as there’s so much to explore here!
Austin G — Google review
Incredible experience. We only had to walk about 30 minutes into the jungle to reach the gorillas.

Visiting Bwindi Impenetrable Forest was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Seeing the mountain gorillas up close in their natural habitat was unreal. Our guides were knowledgeable, respectful of the wildlife, and made us feel safe throughout the journey. Highly recommend this adventure to anyone looking for something truly special!
Nomad L — Google review
Spending some time with the gorillas in Bwindi is an amazing experience! The rangers and trackers are very professional, knowledgable and visibly care about giving us the best experience without imposing excessively on the gorillas. We did not have to walk very far, but this seems to vary from day to day. We felt safe throughout and being so close to a group of gorillas in their environment fills you with awe! It is costly but apparently less so than other places and the money helps with the conservation of of the only two natural habitats of the gorillas. A must do if you are around.

Bwindi Community Walk and Batwa Culture

The Bwindi Community Walk and Batwa Culture experience in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park offers a unique opportunity to learn about the indigenous Batwa people. Originally inhabitants of the park, they were resettled when the area was gazetted as a national park for conservation purposes. Forced to leave behind their traditional way of life, they have adapted to modern agriculture and pastoralism. This experience provides insight into their history, culture, and challenges faced during this transition.
(Translated by Google) Very nice guide but sometimes we had the impression of being in wallets for some... First, we were told 20,000 shillings for coffee and when we gave the ticket, it became 30,000. Then the Batwa experience is not really one. A man makes a fool of himself by eating leaves, he pretends to be a pig... Then we bought a craft, to which we were told that we were helping a family and not the whole community and that for that, you had to leave money in the basket. This last experience totally lacked authenticity, too bad!

Rushaga Sector Uganda

Rushaga Sector in Uganda is a captivating part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, renowned for its incredible mountain gorilla trekking experiences. Each day, only eight lucky trekkers are permitted to venture into the lush jungles of this sector, which is one of four within the park. Home to several habituated gorilla families, Rushaga offers visitors a chance to encounter these magnificent creatures up close.
Trip of a lifetime to see the gorillas here. Hard to put to words how amazing it was.

(Translated by Google) There are said to be a lot of gorilla families living here. We had a steep climb but reached our group after just 60-90 minutes of climbing. Because of the dense greenery, trees and bushes we didn't have the best view. There are photos and videos online with more open terrain. Still, it was a breathtaking experience. We got very close to the animals and the spotters on site had tips for viewing directions or removed one or two branches in the way to be able to see the animals better. Looking back, I would book the habituriation tour because the one hour with the animals would fly by thanks to the special impressions! (Original) Hier sollen sehr viele Gorilla-Familien leben.
