Embark on an unforgettable adventure with the Zanzibar Quad Adventure. This 4-hour excursion offers a mix of thrill and cultural immersion. Explore local villages, interact with friendly locals, and witness their way of life. The tour includes a spice tour where you can smell and taste various plants and spices guided by a knowledgeable local. Additionally, enjoy a quad ride through the stunning landscapes even in the midst of Zanzibar rain, as raincoats are provided.
Amazing experience, we went through the villages. It would be nice to get some gifts for the kids 😊 the people were very sweet and kind. It would be more fun if each person rides one bike.
Shathra H — Google review
Charged >$20 for a 10 minute journey from the quad bike office to our hotel. When we tried to discuss the price the staff threatened to call the police. Very disrespectful - wouldn’t recommend.
Titi — Google review
Best experience while enjoying a quad drive through a spice farm and local villages. I would definetly recommend the tour. Don’t forget to bring treats for the kids you will find around the journey!

If you can define adventure you then got it right with Zanzibar Quad Adventure. If you have been struggling with activities to do when in Zanzibar apart from water sports please add Zanzibar Quad Adventure in your next adventure trip to Zanzibar. Time value for money was 👌👌. The trip lasted for about 4hrs. We had spice tour and visited a local village with very friendly people and kids who were full of joy. The guide, Bamba was very nice and good with all the road instructions that we were to observed. On our way back we were taken to a restaurant to eat the famous "cultural white pizza" for free 😂😂. I definitely recommend this activity.
Oliver B — Google review
Great value for the money. A 4 hour tour by quad with refreshments and a knowledgable tour guide (Abdul). We visited villages, interacted with the people, learned about the customs (Mwaka Kogwa), and witnessed the main economic activity of the village. Absolutely amazing how products are made. If you are ever in Zanzibar, I highly recommend you to participate in the quad tour with Zanzibar Quad Adventure. You won't regret it.
Rachel M — Google review
Very enjoyable tour. Communication with the team from start to finish was impeccable. The tour got a little boring for us driving so much on the highway, but once we went off road, and in to the rural areas, it was wonderful. Visiting the local village was a nice experience, but it felt a little transactional. Overall, good activity and would recommend trying it.
Melanie M — Google review
I don't know where to begin. The tour is a 5 star adventure. We road on the beach, the streets, off road and into villages. We were offer water and fresh fruit in the villages. I learned so much while visiting the Spice Farms. Wow. And the children... What can I say, but seeing the children brought much joy to my heart. I simply loved EVERYTHING about this tour.

What is the best way to check out the jungle and local villages? By quad! I found out about the Zanzibar Quad Adventure thanks to TripAdvisor's community. I wrote a mail to them about week before our arrival. Response came almost immediately. So what's in offer? Group of quads go to jungle and villages for 4 hours. Cost? 120 USD per quad. European driving license is fine (in my case Polish) and international one is not needed. Driving category A (bikes) is not needed if you have cat. B (cars). I was surprised when I was told that all the formalities and payments can be done in a day of adventure. So the big day arrived - big for me because I never drove quad before. Because our hotel was in nearby the office, Greta, lady with whom I contacted before, came for us to the hotel by car and gave us a lift to the office. Over there she collected the payment and wrote a driving permit for the police. Everything took maybe 5 min. Then when everyone arrived, there was a quick tutorial how to drive a quad. Driving is very easy because they have automatic gearbox. Group of 7 quads (10 people in total + 3 people from ZQA. At first we were driving normal road. We visited a local store to buy something for kids. After some time, we moved to countryside and offroad began! It even started to rain heavily but they were prepared. Every quad has raincoats for 2 people. We visited one village, see two houses from inside. The most memorable moment was to see how people are living and all the kids. I had a mixed feelings about the kids because they were prepared that they will receive something - some of them were really greedy. But in the end, everything was very touchy and for sure I won't forget that moment for long. Except the village tour, there was also short spices tour like to see lemon grass or jackfruit tree. The last stop was Waikiki restaurant. Only starters are included in price of trip. Everything else is extra paid. After came back, Greta gave us drive back to the hotel which was very kind. These 4 hours are one my best in my life and for sure I will never forget jungle offroad adventure in heavy rain! Is it worth? Of course! Will I come back? Of course! I was even thinking to buy this trip again during the same stay but my wife said no... :(

Kivulini Restaurant

4.2
(16)
Restaurant
Kivulini Restaurant is a delightful spot for families and food lovers alike, offering a spacious atmosphere with ample seating. The friendly and attentive staff ensure that your dining experience is enjoyable from start to finish. Diners rave about the freshness of the calamari, while the tandoori chicken, though tasty, could benefit from a bit more spice to enhance its flavor profile.
I definitely recommend this place to try really local food! Everyone is super friendly and prices are very good. For me the taste is a little bland - could be more spicy and aromatic, but I think this is how it is supposed to be here, so I enjoyed it a lot.
Krzysztof O — Google review
Stopped in with the family for a light early dinner. Plenty of space and seating, friendly and attentive staff, and the food was delicious! The calamari was so fresh! For my main I had a tandoori chicken which was tasty but lacked spice. Portions were enormous and the prices were so beyond reasonable. Definitely worth grabbing a bite at this little gem!

Nice place for local food. We've been there two times and really enjoyed it. Tip: You should not go or order with the local "self declared" guides (like everywhere). They push up the prices. Always order and talk to the host Anju.

Kiwengwa Beach, situated on the eastern part of Zanzibar's Unguja Island, is renowned for its pristine white sands and expansive shoreline. At low tide, the beach transforms into a captivating seascape, perfect for leisurely exploration. While some visitors have noted issues with litter and persistent vendors, many appreciate the tranquility and local charm that this idyllic destination offers.
A perfect paradise. Beautiful white sand and unbelievably warm sea . A place that has it all - get a great tan, eat amazing food, swim in the warmest waters and meet Maasai
Lorraine N — Google review
Kiwengwa Beach is absolutely stunning! soft white sand, clear turquoise water, and a long stretch perfect for walking. It’s a really beautiful place. There are plenty of restaurants and beach bars nearby, so it’s easy to find good food or drinks with an ocean view. There were a lot of people constantly approaching to sell tours and souvenirs. We understand it’s part of local life, but it was a bit overwhelming when we just wanted to enjoy a peaceful walk. A friendly “no, thank you” usually works, but it does get tiring after a while.
Kim K — Google review
The beach itself / the sand is mesmerizing hence the 3 star review, Incredibly comfortable to walk on. Sadly that’s where the comfort ends since you are constantly being followed one after another and sometimes multiple at a time. The men will not stop they strongly encourage you to buy their merchandise and even when you ask multiple times for peace and to be left alone they are extremely persistent. It’s a big shame since we just wanted peace and to enjoy the beach. My girlfriend was very upset and it made a romantic time to a high stress state of mind and atmosphere
Edis — Google review
Paradisiacal, endless beach with powdered sugar sand. Here the tides determine the picture. At low tide you can explore the wonderful water world on foot. The ocean changes color every hour. Splendid! There are minus points for the garbage problem (this is nothing new for Africa, Asia, but also e.g. Italy) and the dealers who sometimes want to sell the stuff too obtrusively. Great beach for relaxation, rest and unwind...

Did not like the beach too much. It is wide and sand is very nice, however the water was dirty and full of some stuff inside and hence it was not so pleasant to swim. also on the sand there were some stuff left from the see. I have seen better beaches in Zanzibar.

The local eatery known as Local Restaurant is an exceptional establishment that offers an impeccable dining experience. Moreover, patrons need not worry about the quality or safety of their food; it meets the highest standards.
Well, it is a local restaurant, that means you either like it or not. Besides the lovely cooker, I got to eat chips with egg and meat on steaks. I really enjoyed it. For my wife it was a bit too well done, but I liked it. We paid for 3 people with drinks for $9. After we paid between 49-80$ on the beach restaurants, this was a nice experience. After all we also support the locals, which is valuable to us. Thank you.

We ate there today and it was the best food I’ve had in all of Zanzibar! We ordered burgers that came with fries, and they were so delicious that it's hard to describe. 😋 We also ordered chicken nuggets, which were really tasty. Si Burgers Zanzibar is a very nice surprise!!!! The burgers and all menu are very very delicious!!! It is a very nice choice if you want for once something different than local food but still want to keep a quality. Burgers looks exactly like on European promo photos and are very tasty from local ingredients. The hygiene standards are like in Europe. Everything is clean and the staff cleans everything immediately after every customer. On every table are hand sanitizers. You can see the whole process of making food. The restaurant is run by Italian and the cooks are usually young locals. They do also a delivery, you can order via WhatsApp. It is great because the restaurant is quite far if you don’t have a car. We were so satisfied so we had to come back the other day and weren’t disappointed! And don’t forget their cappuccino! We definitely recommend it and wish so burgers a lot of luck.

HUG IV SOUL Lounge Cafè is a charming spot that exudes an Italian vibe in the heart of Zanzibar. The team, led by the friendly boss, creates a warm and inviting atmosphere for guests. The food is prepared with love and care, offering delicious options like Americano coffee, espresso, flavorful pizzas with homemade chili sauce, and tasty carbonara. The boss personally visits each table to spread joy and ensure everyone has a great time.
An incredibly beautiful place. The team, including the boss, is in a extremely good mood and very friendly. The food is excellent and prepared with love. You sit here on Zanzibar but you have the feeling to be in Italy. The boss 'visit' every table personally to talk to the guests and spread his good mood and fun. The prices are at a very good level. I recommend each one who spend Zanzibar holidays to visit this trattoria. Unfortunately, you can award a maximum of 5 stars. But I give these stars from the heart.

So far the worst and ironically the most expensive food we had on Zanzibar. The cheese burger didn't taste anything like beef and the salad was just uneatable. In the end we only got $2 deducted from our bill where normally other restaurants wouldn't even charge you for such a bad meal. Just avoid this place.
Milos J — Google review
The food was OK, we ordered a pizza and a focaccia but the waiting time was too long. We were waiting for an hour for a simple pizza, provided that there were not so many people. I had to ask for a check twice because the waiter ignored me the first time.

We had the seafood platter, the fish was not avaliable, the octopus and the cigal was undercooked and chewy. Didn't enjoy at all. Also we ordered burgers. It says Angus but the meat was not as per the expectations and the bread buns were not good at all. Also we ordered pizza and it was thier special of the day, there was no mozzarella at all, instead just some sort of sauce. Fresh sliced tomato and Rocca. Didn't enjoy at all. Plus they r very very slow to. Bring the order. One of my kids ordered seafood spaghetti and it was nice. I will never come again here for lunch.

The food was of a very high standard and we’d go sleep at night looking forward to the splendid wide choice of breakfast including their fabulous fruit platter. We had a great romantic stay in this hotel which has only positive points. Its location is perfect directly on the beach, quiet and intimate. The staff is great. I am deeply saddened to post this review but I have to. I was super excited to stay at this resort, but unfortunately one day before my flight I had an eye injury and had to undergo an emergency eye surgery. It all happened so fast and we didn’t have time to process this unfortunate situation we were put in. After I came home from the hospital we had to cancel every part of the trip: the flights, the day trips, and the hotels. Everyone was very understanding and accommodating, except for Mvuvi Boutique Resort. We sent them my medical report and photos of my eye injury to try to convince them to waive the cancellation policy, but to no avail. The offered to give us a voucher to stay with them in the future, but we don’t know if we will be able to travel in the future, and we are in desperate need of this money right now to continue my treatment. I really wish people had more empathy towards one another, but clearly money is very important to this hotel. And it wasn’t cheap. We had to save up a lot to afford it and we really need it especially right now. You are a boutique hotel not under any bigger organization or company, so you can definitely make exceptions in these situations. A hotel I booked through Booking was able to waive their fees so I think you can too. Let’s show some humanity. I wish this on no one. What I’m going through is very hard and very traumatic and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy…

We only have good words for this place - a breathtaking location, an intimate atmosphere, a great staff. The beach is beautiful and the the two restaurants are defintitely to recommend. The rooms are nice and clean, with a stunning ocean view.

Such a beautiful place to stay with amazing, hospitable staff. The rooms are spacious and clean with housekeeping visiting twice daily. Breakfast overlooking the beach is magical. The small pool is perfect as well for a light dip in the heat. Would highly recommend.

I had the incredible pleasure of staying at this breathtaking resort in Zanzibar for six unforgettable days, celebrating my best friend's wedding. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that we were in for an experience like no other. Every single detail was thoughtfully curated, making our stay seamless, joyful, and absolutely magical. The staff went above and beyond in every aspect. Their warmth and kindness transformed our trip into something truly memorable. Not only were they attentive and professional, but they also brought so much joy and energy to our celebration. From assisting with the hen and stag dos to accommodating our every need, they genuinely felt like part of our group. They even joined us on the dance floor! Their infectious enthusiasm was the highlight of every event, giving a uniquely personal touch to the wedding festivities. The staff also gave incredible local advice, whether for arranging island activities, picking the best spots for scenic views, or simply ensuring we had all we needed to make each day unforgettable. They handled every request with such grace and efficiency, even the unexpected ones that can come with a wedding party. The resort itself was an oasis of luxury and comfort, with gorgeous surroundings that made every photo look straight out of a travel magazine. The rooms were beautifully designed with attention to every small detail, making it feel like a home away from home, yet with all the luxury you could imagine. For anyone planning a destination wedding, a celebration, or just a getaway in Zanzibar, I can’t recommend this resort enough. It's rare to find a place that combines such beautiful accommodations with a team of people who genuinely want to make your experience perfect. I left with so many memories and a full heart—this place truly felt like a slice of paradise.

I’m deeply disappointed by the lack of empathy and understanding shown by this hotel. I had to cancel my reservation because my sister unexpectedly required eye surgery, and our family needed to care for her during recovery. I explained the situation in detail and even offered medical documentation, but the hotel refused to provide a full refund or even half refund, hiding behind strict policies instead of showing basic compassion. While all other hotels & activity centers were understanding & provided a full refund. Emergencies happen, and I believe any reputable hotel should be able to make exceptions in genuine situations like this. It’s disheartening to see that customer care and humanity seem to matter less here than profit. I was really looking forward to staying at this property, but after this experience, I will not be booking again — and I would encourage others to think twice before doing so, especially if you value empathy and flexibility.

We had a truly wonderful time at Mvuvi. The property offers a beautifully designed, relaxing landscape. The half-board option gives you access to two nice restaurants with a good variety of food. Cocktails were excellent, and breakfast was delicious. What really makes Mvuvi special is the staff – warm, welcoming, and always eager to help. At times, it was a little challenging to communicate specific food preferences due to language barriers. The only reason I’m not giving a full five stars is that I would have loved a bit more attention to detail in the rooms. On arrival, there was a slight musty smell, and small touches like bedside lamps for a cozy atmosphere, room slippers for sandy feet, and bathrobes would have made the stay feel even more luxurious.

La Capannina Zanzibar is a delightful culinary haven that beautifully marries Italian and African flavors, making it a must-visit for food enthusiasts. Nestled in a charming residential area, this restaurant boasts an inviting ambiance perfect for couples and families alike. The extensive menu caters to all meal times—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—with standout dishes like pizza and classic pasta options crafted with authentic ingredients. Guests are welcomed by friendly staff who embody the warmth of Italian hospitality.
Very delicious homemade pasta! The appetizer was also fantastic. The owners speak Italian, which makes the experience even more authentic. I have one small suggestion for improvement: I would recommend serving the bruschetta already topped with the tomatoes, rather than preparing them in 5 liters of olive oil. Credit card payments are accepted. We came here spontaneously for dinner, without a reservation. We can absolutely recommend this place!

One of the best Italian restaurants in the island. It’s run by the owner is a chef, which gives a homey atmosphere. The food is excellent. I’ve been there couple of times, I had different pasta dish were the pasta is freshly made at their kitchen. Definitely will be back again.

Capannina Zanzibar is a true hidden gem when it comes to Italian cuisine! From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we were greeted with warm Italian hospitality and a cozy atmosphere. The owners, both genuine Italians, clearly pour their hearts into every dish they create, and it truly shows in the exceptional flavors. During our visit, I had the pleasure of trying their Noodles with Gorgonzola and Cashew Nuts, and it was an absolute delight. The combination of the rich Gorgonzola and the crunch of the cashew nuts created a symphony of flavors that left me craving for more. The pasta was cooked to perfection, al dente, just the way it should be. My husband opted for the Poke Bowl with Octopus and Chicken mix, and it was a true fusion of Italian and Zanzibari flavors. The freshness of the ingredients, along with the carefully marinated octopus and tender chicken, made for a unique and satisfying culinary experience. The presentation of the dish was also impeccable, a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds. The attention to detail and the commitment to quality ingredients are evident in every dish served at Capannina Zanzibar. The menu offers a wide variety of Italian classics and innovative creations, ensuring there is something to please every palate. The staff at Capannina Zanzibar are friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about their craft. They are more than happy to recommend dishes and answer any questions, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. If you're in search of authentic Italian cuisine in Zanzibar, look no further than Capannina Zanzibar. With its talented Italian owners, mouthwatering dishes, and warm ambiance, this restaurant is a true culinary delight. Buon appetito!

Very friendly staff, food was authentic italian. Very good, pizza dough. Pizza dough and foccacia felt like it was the same dough... Pasta was freshly made. We ordered: Red foccacia appetizer 6/10 (red sauce on pizza dough with some oregano) Margherita pizza 7.5/10 Napoli pizza 3/10 (was too salty) King fish spaghetti with lemon, mint and basil (very little fish in the dish for $20) 7/10 Nice little restaurant in a residential area next to the pool. Check opening times before going. *Note to Muslims Place serves alcohol. Cold cuts are all from Italy, not halal.

Extraordinary and unexpected. Authentic Italian cuisine that would be appreciated even in San Francisco. Great service, homemade pasta, super fresh locally caught seafood expertly prepared. Our host and chef are from Italy and opened this gem after Covid.
