La Parguera in 2 days

If you only have 2 days to spend in La Parguera, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
La Parguera is a laid-back seaside village known for its bioluminescent bay, where night boat and kayak tours let you see the water glow with movement. The surrounding mangrove cays and clear, shallow waters make it popular for snorkeling, paddleboarding, and boat excursions. Just offshore, the famed La Parguera Wall offers dramatic drop-offs for scuba diving. In town, simple waterfront boardwalks, guesthouses, and seafood spots give it an easygoing, small-town Caribbean feel.
With favorites like Rest turrumote, Cayo Caracoles, and Parguera Water Sports Adventures & Bioluminescent Bay Tour Boat-Kayak-Swim, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Puerto Parguera and Reef Pop so you can get the best taste of La Parguera while you’re here. Paradise Scuba & Snorkeling Center

4.7
(1938)
Dive shop
Paradise Scuba & Snorkeling Center is located in La Parguera, Lajas, offering a fantastic natural experience. The area boasts mangrove reserves, nature reserves, and a bioluminescent bay, making it perfect for snorkeling and SCUBA diving. The Wall Dive is particularly popular among SCUBA enthusiasts due to the vibrant marine life.
This has got to be the best trip to Puerto Rico for me! Paradise scuba and snorkeling center is one of the top two tour companies I’ve ever experienced in all my traveling. Family owned for three generations, some of the most knowledgeable and friendly crew. There was nine of us girls for a week celebrating a birthday And we went on a Discover scuba diving tour. This crew absolutely works like a well oiled machine. They all really get along. And enjoy what they do. We each had our own instructor at first and then paired up into groups. Edwin was the most patient and relaxed, and truly genuine instructor. Chompy was another instructor and literally held one of our hands on the Discover Scuba until they were comfortable One of us went diving the reef with Angel, AKA Lee,And could not have asked for a better buddy. Some of the others went snorkeling and had a great time with Fabio and the Captain of the boat was awesome. “Jill’’ The only girl on the crew is the best! We ended up going on the bio luminescent swim with her and Chompy .”Jill” Is a marine biologist and very knowledgeable about the, what I call fireflies in the water, Better known as Dino flats. It was unbelievably fantastic to experience this. The day before we left, we ended up booking a snorkeling tour and went out with the Captain and “Jill “and Chompy as our guides. We saw a donkey, dong sea cucumber, and was able to hold it as it molded itself to my hands, and when you pull it off, it has suction cups that you feel pop up off your hand and was put back in the water, we held a live conch shell That was gorgeous, I saw a trumpet fish, a needle, nose fish, blue, and yellow tangs, a gorgeous parrot fish, and a surgeon fish, A manatee, a nurse shark, fingerling coral, brain Coral and so much more. Puerto Rico has some of the best snorkeling I’ve ever done. So thank you to Anna, You have one of the best crews Ever! Thank you so much Jill and Champy and Edwin and Lee our Captain And Jonathan and anyone else I left out we had the absolute best vacation we could’ve asked for! A few of us even went deep sea fishing with Lee. We had fresh tuna for dinner that night. Below our just a few pictures on the boat with the crew during our tours with paradise scuba and snorkeling center. Can’t wait to see y’all next year.🩷🩷🩷 Oh and we rented a house from the owners of Paradise that was great, slept all of us comfortably, adorably decorated with a pool and very reasonable in price. I highly recommend paradise, scuba, and snorkeling!

One of the nicest boat I’ve gone scuba diving with. Staff are responsive, friendly and professional. Went on a 2 tank scuba dive of the La Parguera Wall & the Forest on 4/29/2025 with crew: captain Chiqui, Chompy and Angel. The team focused on safety and provided a nice, smooth, very enjoyable diving experience. One big bonus is that they had a divemaster per two divers, which enhanced the diving quality and safety. Recommend! It is also nice to support local family owned business! Thank you the paradise scuba team, wish you all the best.
Effie M — Google review
Loved going out with paradise scuba! Chiqui, Chompi, and Angel all did their best to accommodate our dives. We did 2 separate days and 4 dives. We were able to see some really cool wall dives and did a swim through which was fun. Saw several sharks, barracuda, and eels. They also took plenty of pictures while we were underwater! A great experience, would go again!
Max S — Google review
We had an incredible afternoon snorkeling with Alex. We saw exotic Caribbean fish and mollusks, and Alex provided interesting ecological and cultural details that enhanced our experience. The highlight was of course swimming in the bio bay. It is difficult to describe it accurately, but truly it is like swimming through a galaxy. And the empanadillas were delicious! I recommend it very highly.

Friends and I visited for a week (October 10-16, 2025). We had the best adventures with this fantastic outfit. The staff were very helpful, knowledgeable and fun to share our 3 tours with. Ana, Jill, Angel and Chompi, ensured that my friends and I enjoyed every moment on their boats and in the water. I did a SCUBA trip and 1 snorkel tour and the bioluminescent snorkel! The dive I did with Angel was beautiful and he pointed out several animals, including a barracuda, sting rays, lobster and many more. The Bio Bay trip was truly incredible, and is the only bay where we can actually snorkel! This is a truly amazing experience and if you have the chance to go, it’s a must do. The snorkel day was at a beautiful reef with many fish, corals and sponges. We were extremely lucky to have seen a manatee cow and calf as well! The shop is clean and welcoming, as are the boats, which also free drinks and empanadas on the Bio Bay tour. Thanks to all the staff for the best adventures!
Traci W — Google review
Truly a life changing experience! The crew was so knowledgeable and made me feel so safe. I felt well prepared for the snorkel and bioluminescence tour after receiving thorough and helpful instructions. The ocean was so clean and beautiful. We saw vibrant coral and sea creatures during the day tour, and a stunning light show in the bioluminescence bay after a gorgeous sunset. I can’t wait to come back again!
Christine C — Google review
The staff was a 10+. The bioluminescent swim a 10+ experience. Food was yummy but if you are an experienced snorkel that portion was non ah inspiring. Our guide did point out some cool things and brought up a beautiful Conch. That star fish was really cool as well. We had some dead time between the snorkel, dinner and sunset and it would have been nice to have spent another 30 min snorkeling. All in all I loved it all but felt the snorkeling fell a bit flat.
Tina V — Google review
Quite comfy boat that was in good shape, well-maintained and an absolute breeze to get in and out of. Useful and kind bilingual crew in and out of the water that gave a perfect briefing on the plan and what to expect at both sites. Seamless and easy check in, payment ect. I love that our boat only had 3 divers and they still went out to show us a good time and we left and returned early for 2x 40 minute dives. Gear seemed in good shape minus a single beat up o-ring. Will 100% be a repeat customer should I find myself there again. Site 1: Was interesting to go to Hole-in-the-wall and not hit the swim thru, but I suppose thats a bit deep and they made sure the profile was good for everyone and there was still plenty to see. Site 2: Chimney was interesting and even included a small (now-rare) pillar coral as well as some spotted spiny lobster. Both sites had resident sharks that we ran into, loads of creole fish and a smattering of 3 species of grouper. Coral was present and infused with sponges and softies. Only (minor) regret was that Id wished that the surface int would have been ~20 min more than the 53 we ended up with so that I could have safely drained my tank on the second spot as there were plenty of fun coral heads to look under and I was up against deco limits after ~80 on the wall and ~70 at chimney and still wrapped with 1000psi.

When visiting La Parguera in Lajas, Puerto Rico, make sure to stop by Tony's Pizza for a delicious slice. Open late at night, this spot offers a light and thin crust pizza with a variety of toppings to choose from. Even if you're not in the mood for traditional Puerto Rican cuisine, Tony's Pizza will surely satisfy your hunger. Visitors have raved about the phenomenal taste of the pizza, comparing it to renowned pizzerias in the United States.
A Few years ago on my trip to Puerto Rico, After a day spent driving around and spending time in la Parquera , my kids were hungry and they werent in the mood for tradtional Puerto Rican cousine. To the pleasant surpise of me and my kids Tony's pizza was phenomenal. We are from Arizona and have had Pizzeria Bianco which is considered the best in the country so we know Pizza! Tony's is simple and to the point , a delicious pizza that can hang their hat on that they know how to make Pizza!

Great tasty pizza, with a nice selection of toppings. Fairly quick window service, with very friendly staff. Not a lot of indoor seating. Good prices.

Really wanted to stay away from stateside food items. We caved in on the 2nd to last day of our vacation. After doing a bioluminescent bay swim, we just had to stop in for pizza. Not too thick, not too thin, just the right thickness. We did the 14", should have gone for the 16"

Don't forget to try a slice of pizza when you visit La Parguera in Lajas, Puerto Rico. It's a light, thin crust pizza, with good flavor and with a variety of toppins to choose from.
Nilsa A — Google review
Filled us up but pizza is not good. Pricey for the low quality. We spent 3 hrs or so on one of the keys in la parguera and came back really hungry but I wish I had made a better choice. So many other food options. On a side note employees were nice.
Nelson G — Google review
Taste like frozen fundraiser pizza. The crust was as thin as a cracker and the cheese was waxy.
Carmen V — Google review
Perfect pizza. We were a smidge worried because it’s a little pricier than average pizza, but it was phenomenal. Perfect crust, sauce, cheese, everything.
Edwin S — Google review
A few years ago this place was the best pizza, now is terrible. The pizza is empty in cheese and sauce. And excesive price for a tiny and empty pizza.

Fondo de Cristal Tours & Boat Rental offers a variety of experiences for visitors in La Parguera. The Fondo de Cristal III glass-bottomed boat takes nightly tours around the bay, providing an opportunity to witness the dinoflagellates lighting up through the glass bottom viewing areas. Additionally, smaller boats are available for night swimming excursions.
I have used this company several times with different groups of family and friends that come to visit, and they are great. The only thing I suggest is to look up the moon cycle and go when there is the least of that moon showing.

Awesome boat rental! We got there later in the day around 1 pm and they had a 5 person boat ready to go. This was a great experience staff was great, very informative and gave us some tips of which little islands to visit. We settled on Caracoles water was beautiful and calm despite the 20 mph winds . You don’t need experience to drive these boats just small hand driven outboard motor.

This was the highlight of the trip for us - they had availability for us to book our group of 7 last-minute when plans unexpectedly changed, which was extremely fortuitous! We took a 7:30pm boat out of Lajas with another group (10 people on the trip plus the captain and first mate). After a safety briefing and life jacket fitting, they took us to the biobay as the sun set - it was perfect timing, as the moon was at 3% illumination and the timing of the sunset let us see the bioluminescence perfectly. In my opinion, 20 minutes in the water was the perfect amount of time to observe the biobay; you’re basically floating and looking at your hands/feet moving in the dark. 20 minutes left us wanting more without overtiring us. I would highly recommend Fondo de Cristal for this experience; the staff was friendly and capable, the boat felt safe and well-maintained, and the biobay itself is well worth the trip - truly a magical place.

We had such a great time sailing between Cayos islands. We rented kayaks and really enjoyed the experience ! Guys were really helpful and friendly. I'd recommend making reservations even if it's for the same day. One thing to note - i didn't expect how difficult it is to keep anything dry in a kayak :) next time I'm bring a waterproof bag with me.

So fun! Had a great time. About an hour long trip. Good music! Very cool experience
Magan K — Google review
Me personally will not recommend.... it's a one hour tour that takes 25 minutes there and 25 minutes back so you actually only get like 10 maybe 15 minutes of a person swimming in the bioluminescent water to make it light up... but it's not what you think. It's not a glass bottom but two boxes that have a view that gets over crowded. you can't use flash on your phone or cameras so you really can't see anything. It's not what you see on Instagram or tiktok so if this is what you are looking for you're going to be disappointed. 2 stars for the boat ride. Most interesting part of the ride was the view of the stars. It was brighter than the water. Best place to sit is in the back. You guys should hire someone to take the trash out the boxes. A photo with a cup in the box is not a picture I want to show my friends on social.
Edward M — Google review
We took an afternoon cruise and returned for a night time bioluminescence cruise. What a great boat! The Captain is personable and accessible- fully knowledgeable of all things La Parguera. At $15 a head for day or night, this is a very affordable way to experience all that La Parguera has to.offer... Plus we got to wander around on Mata de Gata island for a while. Absolutely recommend this!

Parguera Water Sports Adventures & Bioluminescent Bay Tour Boat-Kayak-Swim offers a unique experience in the Bioluminescent Bay, where Bahia Monsio Jose and Bahia la Parguera come alive with glowing microscopic organisms called dinoflagellates. This natural phenomenon creates a stunning light show as you kayak or paddle through the still waters. Located in Lajas, Puerto Rico, this tour promises an unforgettable adventure that shouldn't be missed.
I went on the 6:45-8:45 boat, swim, and kayak with captain Javi and Oscar and it was beautiful. We managed to go on a full moon night, with a total party of 5 on the boat (I went with my parents and 2 other women joined). It was beautiful. Water was warm. And only a 18 min boat ride to the bay. We did the kayaking and swam, so beautiful seeing the microorganisms light up.

If you’re heading to La Parguera, Parguera Water Sports is a must—and make sure you request Captain Javi. He’s not just a tour guide; he’s a natural storyteller, safety expert, and host who goes above and beyond to make your experience unforgettable. Captain Javi is known for his warmth, humor, and deep knowledge of the bioluminescent bay and surrounding mangroves. He’ll even adjust the experience—like laying a tarp under the boat during a full moon—to make sure you get the best view of the glowing waters. Families, couples, and solo travelers alike rave about how he personalizes each trip and makes everyone feel at home. ⸻ 🛶 Activities Offered Parguera Water Sports provides an incredible range of water-based adventures: • Bioluminescent Bay Tours – Take a boat ride, then kayak or swim in glowing waters under the stars. • Kayaking Through Mangroves – Paddle through peaceful channels by day or combine with the glowing bay at night. • Island Hopping & Snorkeling – Visit nearby cays like Caracoles or Mata La Gata to relax, swim, and snorkel. • Evening Boat Cruises – Enjoy a sunset or stargazing tour with drinks and great company. All equipment (kayaks, snorkels, life jackets) is included, and most tours are kid- and senior-friendly. ⸻ ⭐ Why Choose Them • Expert, passionate guides—especially Javi • Unforgettable bioluminescence you can swim in • Flexible, safe, and family-friendly • Beautiful locations: mangroves, cays, and the glowing bay ⸻ ✅ Pro Tips • Book in advance and ask for Captain Javi by name. • Choose a tour on or near a new moon for maximum glow. • Bring a swimsuit, towel, and optional snorkel/mask. ⸻ Final Word The bioluminescent bay is a once-in-a-lifetime experience—but with Captain Javi and Parguera Water Sports, it becomes something even more special. Don’t just take a tour. Take the right one—with Javi.

What a wonderful experience!! This is my third bioluminescent tour. I’ve done one in the Bay Area and one in Puerto Rico, but the sunset kayak swim combo in La Paguera is hands down the most magical experience I’ve had!!! Captain Win welcomed us with drinks and fruit and described the history of area on the boat. The sunset swim was incredible and the quality of bioluminescence was out of this world. Everything we touched glowed so brightly and water splashing created such beautiful sparkles. Every minute of the 3 hour tour was full of beauty and wonder. Thank you Captain Win for such a magical experience

Had a great time. Went with a group of work friends. Captain Ricky was very knowledgeable and even waited for us though we were a bit late. The bay really is quite bright when you swim in it and it’s quite a beautiful experience. My advice: bring a 6 pack of medallas and enjoy the beautiful views, kayaking and swimming. Would happily recommend to friends and others.
Nicholas F — Google review
Our group of 12 had a great time with Edwin as our guide. He is super knowledgeable of the local plants and fruits and keeps the whole group engaged! He made us all feel comfortable with the hike and spent time learning our names, would definitely recommend doing this tour again and using him as a guide!
Rachel M — Google review
Our experience with this tour company was wonderful. I would recommend booking the 9:15 PM tour because when I went they were the only boat in the bay. This is the only bioluminescent bay you can safely swim in and is a must while in Puerto Rico. The bioluminiscence was AMAZING and even worth doing during a full moon. Don’t miss this once in a lifetime opportunity. I don’t quite know if I believe that sharks are not present in the bay but nothing happened to our group or has happened to any other group for over 100 years! Also, it seems like jellyfish stings could happen and are frequent. Again, nothing happened to our group but please be aware of the potential dangers before you go. What I will say is, it is 100 percent worth it any time of the year. It is worth the risk and is the only great thing I did in my trip to Puerto Rico. Forget El Morro or El Yunque- come here, it is WAY nicer!!!
Jonathan M — Google review
My partner and I did this as a “once-in-a-lifetime” couples experience and absolutely loved it! Check-in was easy, and we were soon on a boat headed to the bio bay. The ride itself was magical—we passed beautiful homes along the water and stargazed the entire way. Win was our guide, and he shared so much history and culture with us throughout the trip. Once we arrived, we got to kayak through the bioluminescent bay and swim with the dinoflagellates (microorganisms)! The water was warm, everything felt safe, and being able to swim in a bay at night under the stars was really special. The water looked like glitter, with all the microorganisms lighting up from the oars and from our movement in the water. It felt like fairy dust was coming off our hands and body. We loved this experience, would happily do it again, and highly recommend it!
Leah R — Google review
We had so much fun, it was our favorite thing that we did in Puerto Rico. We went on Thursday, 11/13 and it was plenty dark to see the bioluminescence. Swimming in the bay was awesome, so happy we made the drive from the San Juan area to have that added benefit. We couldn’t get our phone cameras to pick up the glow, so we gave up and just enjoyed it. Amazing experience, highly recommend this bay and this guide!

Kayaking Parguera & Bioluminescent Bay Kayak Tours offer a chance to explore the beautiful coasts, cays, and islands of the Parguera Nature Reserve. The area is perfect for wildlife spotting and water sports with its calm conditions and stunning crystal-clear waters. The bioluminescent bay kayak tour at night provides a unique experience as the water lights up when disturbed, resembling shining diamonds. Despite the bright moon affecting visibility, the sunset kayak experience was amazing.
10 out of 10! Highly recommend, we took the early tour at 8am on a Wednesday morning and it was perfect. It was very quiet and very few people in the Island. Crystal clear waters and beautiful views! One of my favorite experiences of visiting back home!!

This experience was excellent. Not only was the kayak part fun (definitely a workout, highly recommend booking the paddle boats if you’re not up for pulling your weight for 30 min straight each way), the water and ecosystem where we swam was beyond stunning. Gabriel was such a kind and very chill tour guide. Highly recommend 10/10!

This place is great. The staff here is very knowledgeable and friendly. They also are very competitive with their prices. They will do their best to accommodate you and your larger groups as well. I been coming here for years and always had a positive experience from kayak at night to getting a party of 12, last minute on a glass bottom boat tour. This is the one stop that can accommodate to your needs. I would recommend you give them a try if you’re are in the area. You’ll love whichever tour you do with them. Fun, safe and family friendly experience.

We took the 8am island hopping tour on a Monday morning. Crystal clear and still waters on the way there, a bit of wind on the way back but nothing major. Very few people, unlike what you will see on holidays and weekends, so definitely the best time to do it. Gabriel is a great guy, passionate about the place and committed to eco tourism. The place itself is quite amazing and deserves to be on every list of best things to do in Puerto Rico.

The sand bar is amazing. You can dock the boat at the sand bar and just chill in the crystal clear water

It’s a bit anxiety producing to send your teens out in the dark on the ocean in a kayak but they absolutely LOVED this experience. We just happened to pick the night of a new moon which made it even better. Their guide was extremely safety conscious - his number one concern was that he didn’t want anyone going that had not kayaked before. He stressed that it was an activity that was definitely not for beginners. He got everyone in the water safely and then climbed in his own kayak and led the expedition on a 3.5 mile trek. They said it was better than they expected. I would highly recommend!

OMG! I cannot say good enough things about Gabby! He was amazing! We went on a Tuesday and had a private experience. He was amazing, gave us historical facts about the different spots that we went to, took gorgeous pictures of us, and gave us tremendous dinning recommendations! He was tremendous! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Lajas!

This tour is a class act! The crew was extremely attentive and safety was the number one priority. The trek to Caracoles Cay was easy, even for beginners. The kayaks are very comfortable and stable in the water. Our destination was astonishing. The sandy bottom, the water temperature, and views from the place make it a true paradise. We felt safe from the beginning to the end of our trip. I highly recommend this tour. Kudos to the crew!

La Playita Rosada is a stunning natural reserve that offers a unique beach experience. Nestled among picturesque coves filled with sailboats, this spot features a charming boardwalk lined with benches and surrounded by an enclosed natural pool. The area is adorned with lush banyan trees, making it perfect for birdwatching as you observe birds diving for fish overhead.
Absolutely beautiful, with little coves of sailboats, and a boardwalk with bench seats surrounding a natural enclosed pool. Lots of banyan? trees. Only open Tuesday - Saturday, but we walked through the gate and lots of people were there. It was great bird watching as the birds would circle in the air and dive for fish. There are showers that were not turned on, but that may have been because technically it was closed. Got some great photos! One of the cleaner beaches on the island.
Erin A — Google review
Beautiful natural reserve. The facilities need to be repaired. Actually you can only enter the area walking through a little gate. The parking area is closed. The dock that surrounds the pool is in really bad conditions. Many of the dock boards are broken or missing. You can go hiking along the mangrove area and enjoy the coastline views.

This is a very nice spot to have a great day at the beach. The facilities have restrooms and showers. The water is clear and there's a area of the beach that is nice for kids. I recommend to get there early to get one of the gazebos and to bring you own snacks.

This is a very unique spot to experience the ocean. The "pool" area is a very cool touch but it was definitely not shallow while we were there. I assume this changes with the tides. There is a small beach and bathroom facilities as well. Parking looks like it might be a pain if busy but wasn't for us.

Place has a great natural pool. It has an area of picnic. Parking is ok. It has a great view for drones and close to the place you can find La palguera which has great food choices. It is a must to visit.

Such a beautiful beach, the pool is refreshing and the water is beautiful, it’s a little deep, I’m only 5’3 and I barely touch the bottom on my tip toes, so be sure you can swim or use floats.

The dining establishment known as Puerto Parguera in La Parguera, Lajas offers a diverse selection of culinary options. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of delectable dishes including burgers, seafood, pizza, and pinchos. This restaurant has garnered positive reviews for its remarkable service and exceptional cuisine. One highlight is the perfectly prepared lobster - an impressive delicacy offered in generous portions.
Great family run restaurant that has kid friendly options too. We had Grouper and sweet plantains , shrimp creole with rice and beans and the kids had fried chicken and fries. The passion fruit drinks we’d great too. We stopped here on our way to Bio Bay tour with BESPOKE. Would highly recommend supporting the local businesses.

The food was pretty good! Reasonable for seafood - I got mafongo, chicken broth and a Seafood dish in tomato sauce. I enjoyed the food! Everything was good, just not great. However, for spending 40$ for any plate of seafood, that was a pretty decent experience. My service was excellent.

First time visit. Food was served quickly. Very good had great flavor. Hoping to return soon.

It's a beautiful location and the service was great. I had the filete de pescado en salsa criolla with arroz mamposteao, the rice was delicious, but the fish was watery and lacked flavor. I had two empanadas which were great, chicken and pizza flavor.

Amazing seafood, we had the best fish and seafood mufango in this trip at this restaurant. Octopus salad was nice. Steak was surprisingly good.

We had a really good time at this place and in this area. Food was very good and the drinks were very cold. The place was very clean and the staff was very friendly. Service was very quick. There was live music playing outside tons of all-around fun. I highly recommend this place. We will be back.

Another hidden gem in Puerto Rico. We enjoyed the boat ride with the illuminated water at night. The diver was swimming with the bright beautiful colors around him. He also brought a few buckets of water so all on board can touch and feel the water, super soft.

Reef Pop

Restaurant
Reef Pop, located in Puerto Rico, offers a mix of customer experiences. Some patrons have raved about the delectable masitas de pollo and reasonable prices. However, others have been dissatisfied with their visit. Long wait times for both service and food have been a common complaint, with some guests waiting over 30 or 40 minutes for their orders. Additionally, cleanliness and table stability have been mentioned as areas needing improvement by some customers.
Food was good, fresh and tasty, masitas de pollo, papitas and tostones de pana, all good. Place is a bit run down and like other people have mentioned the bathrooms need some attention.
Ben R — Google review
Its a restaurant that needs a mayor upgrade! It's not taking advantage of how restaurants in PR are doing right now with tourism! I've been going to this restaurants for years and it's getting real bad! More than 30 minutes to get our service ready plus the food it's not that great anymore. Extremely disapointed in how poor this restaurant is doing. If I can give a lower review I would definitely give it a 0. Other than that, if you want to wait 45 minutes for a service to be ready, the masitas de pollo are really good and the recipe has remained the same throughout the years. I think a new management should fix the problem!
Carlos A — Google review
The chicken is really good. It’s tender white meat chicken breast. My complaint is that the bathrooms are filthy. The light switch is literally black from people touching it and no one has washed it in years. A dirty bathroom = a dirty restaurant. Please clean the bathrooms. Por favor limpia los baños.

We were there Monday, many places closed but this one had highest rating and lots of reviews. Don't be misled, wobbling tables, restrooms 👎 , ordered empanadillas of chicken (didn't think it was chicken), soaked w/oil dripping, front desk pointed us to scan the barcode for menu, it did not scan.
Luis B — Google review
Had to wait over 40min for our food, the owner handed are order to another customer by mistake and didn’t take any responsibility. When we questioned the owner that was at the counter he just got upset with us and didn’t apologize . He gave us a speech with lazy excuses. I just ignored him ate my food and left. The food was good but the owner is extremely rude I think he doesn’t care how he speaks to customers because most of his customer are tourist. I was there with my family and we all had the worst customer service experience. Oh and don’t bother asking for extra sauce, the poor employees have to ask the owner permission to give out any extra sauce. Posted my top part of my Receipt to show the time.

They fish filet was Ok, but the rest of the food and waiting time killed us!
Alejandro A — Google review
The chicken nuggets were really, really good. That much i cant lie, they were tender and delicious. However that was the only good part of the meal. I ordered an octopus empanadilla since in the area you cant go wrong with them. I never expected something that smelled weird, let alone taste weird. It is a rule of thumb to not eat seafood that smells weird. I informed the cashier and made the question of when they were made. The people working there didn’t know when they were made. If your own kitchen staff doesn’t know when the food is made then you got a serious problem. Will not be recommending nor providing a good word of mouth.

El Karacol is a popular restaurant located in La Parguera, offering Caribbean and Latin cuisine. It is known for its flavored mojitos and delicious tapas, making it a great spot to enjoy a Friday night. The restaurant provides well-staffed service and an excellent selection of food and drinks, including cervezas from Isla Cueva.
This place has yummy mojitos, lots of good food options. The staff is always very friendly - we have been here quite a few times!

I had the monfongo with chicken and passion fruit “sauce”. The presentation was ok but at soon I started to eat it was a pool of juice, no sauce at all and I was overwhelmed by the passion fruit’s seeds trying to remove them all over my plate.

Don’t let the looks deceive you. We suspected this would be a divey tourist trap with average food, but could not have been more wrong. They have some classic Puerto Rican dishes, and they are delicious. And portion size was so big. We had a hard time finishing our meals. This is definitely worth the stop if you’re about to do one of the bay tours.

The service was good and nice atmosphere however the food was mediocre. I orded a chuleta Kan Kan and for the price I paid it was a small chuleta with barley any meat and a small amount of rice. They are overly priced and small portioned and it tasted mediocre.

Saturday Night, we arrived at about 8:40 pm As soon as we got in, the waitress told us to hurry because the kitchen was closing. We rushed our order, tried different dishes, Not Good, Not Worth even the chicken tacos were bad. After we received our food, another group came in, not rushing at all about the kitchen, looks like their $ was greener. Do not recommend it.
Miguel M — Google review
Everything here was so delicious. Sangria was amazing. And the portions were generous (but the prices also high so reflects that). The sampler platter was fun and delicious and huge. The surf and turf boasted a perfectly juicy steak and delicious lobster. And the shrimp stew was great.

Restaurant
The cuisine at Violeta's Restaurant is highly enjoyable, with a variety of mouthwatering dishes. The food is expertly prepared and offers a delectable array of flavors. Although the wait time may be extended due to the fresh preparation approach, the end result is well worth it. A standout dish that might induce drowsiness is their flavorful Asopao de Camarones. This creole restaurant provides an exceptional dining experience for those seeking delicious and authentic meals.
Very quiet and nice ambience - must clarify that we went on a weekday at a time that the “Township of La Parguera” is practically empty. Service was quick and food well served, presented and tasty. Will definitely go again.

Because the place looks very busy you think that the food is good. However the service is extremely slow and the food is a mess. As other reviewers said the mofungo lacks any flavor. The octopus and shrimp mofungo was foul looking. Wish I had read the reviews before.
Kiara M — Google review
Oh. My. God! The time it took them to send our food. We got there around 8:45pm, stood for around 10 minutes with no one else in the line, waiting for someone to take our order. Finally the kid at the counter took the order, and then we waited till after 10pm, more than an hour, before our name was called. The food was okay but definitely not worth the hour and half of wait. As for the ambience, there were a bunch of tables for 4 to 6 people to sit. There was also an arcade-like place in the same area, with one of the games being a boxing spring bag like things - and every few minutes some kids would take a shot at it and it would produce a horribly loud crashing noise. For the first couple of times this happened our whole bodies jerked up, thinking something had fallen over. We spent $31 for one entree and a couple of appetizers, a soda, and a bottle of water. So, yeah, if extremely long wait times and horrible crashing noises are not your things, then I'd suggest you stay away from this place. They also have overpriced trinkets for tourists, if that interests you.

We had a disaster experience in this place today. The staff is extremely rude and they made a hugeeeeee drama for the use of the bathroom, even when we were expending money in that horrible restaurant. The lady with blonde short hair and glasses, was the mosssttttt disgusting person that I never seen working in a public place. I was with my mom a 89 years old lady and this woman gave me hard time , before allowed us the bathroom. I was really ready to leave, but my husband had placed his order for us.😡😡😡😡😡😡. That lady was acting, like she was so unhappy to be working in that place, beside that the Sangria’s was super bad, and the beer hot. I can’t believe how people like those people are working in a public place, where you are supposed to have an excellent customer service or at least pretend to be happy to be there. We were tourist and we are taking us a very bad and negative experience of this part of PR. I won’t recommend this restaurant to anyone. The owner need to evaluate and reevaluate the staff.
Giovanna C — Google review
This place is a disgrace. Full on discrimination. We have an autistic child that has a service dog. This lady gave us such a hard time because of the dog she refused to look at the dog tag or her service ID. She says a service dog is just another pretty word for an emotional dog and she was not going to school on the meaning . We asked to speak to a manager she says there isn’t any we asked for the name of the store because there is no signs and she refused to give it to us. We try speaking to the other employees they wouldn’t give us any information and just ignored us like we were not there. My daughter was nervous wrecked, so I was not able to call the cops. I wish I would’ve had the time to do so.
Jackeline T — Google review
Worst service in all of the island of Puerto Rico. The staff were rude and disrespectful. The food was less than good and the portions small for the cost. Don’t dare bring food from other restaurants in the area, even after you order from them directly. Makes no sense. Sign says clearly that their area is exclusively for their clients. We ordered but the server gave us attitude for a pizza we ordered from across the sidewalk for the children. With the attitude and lack of flexibility for a touristic area we won’t be coming back.
Eva R — Google review
I ordered surtido and passion fruit frappe. First, the order took a long time to finish. When an order takes a long, I expect the food to be excellent. The food here was not good. The meat tasted old, and the passion fruit frappe was the worst I have had in Puerto Rico. It didn't taste like passion fruit at all. It tasted like syrupy medicine. On the other hand, the pina colada my wife had was good. One star is the most i can give this place.
David T — Google review
I paid for a churrasco and they gave me bistec, the type you make bistec encebollado with. Not only was it expensive, it was hard as heck and lacked flavor, and was not at all what I ordered. I’ve been coming here since I was a baby because my grandparents are from Lajas and I have always had a problem with the lack of customer service- the old woman inside the attached shop next door is extremely rude and will stare at you without any greeting even when you walk up to their register to pay. I will not be returning- Instead I recommend the spot across this establishment. Believe every single poor review here- they are slow and customer service is non existent.

North side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the north side side of town. Start the day off with Isla Mata La Gata, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Playita Rosada. All together, your day would be filled with about 3 hours of non-stop fun.

Isla Mata La Gata, located on the southwestern coast of Puerto Rico, is a family-friendly island covered by mangroves. It offers amenities such as picnic tables, restrooms, showers, barbecue pits, and gazebos, making it an ideal spot for picnics in Lajas. Visitors can rent skiff boats from local companies for a self-guided tour to the island. The clear waters surrounding the island are perfect for spotting wildlife and tropical fish.
You will not regret this experience. A small boat takes you out to the island and the ride itself is breathtaking. The water is crystal blue. There is a trail to take you out to a sandy area that can only be access by walking through water, so behind water shoes. A pool is blocked off for swimming and the water around the island is shallow and calm. There are picnic tables on one side of the island. We saw a man octopus fishing out in the middle of the ocean with just a spear. Truly magical

This is a gorgeous island. We just stopped here for a bit on the way to the bioluminescent bay. Unfortunately most of the facilities have been destroyed, but the picnic tables, picnic shelters, and docks remain. The docks and mangroves provide a nice safe spot to swim.

Great experience!! We got to the Island around 8:30 am, and it was empty, allowing my family and me to choose the best spot. It got crowded later with all the kayakers—still a wonderful experience. I 100% recommend it.
David T — Google review
Visited with a group of 21 people. We visited on a Tuesday and thought the service was ok. Gina’s and Johnny’s charged us $10 per person to take us there. The island is pretty fun, you can either swim on a small swimming area, explore some offshore coral, or simply relax and listen to the waves. We went on a Tuesday morning and there were hardly any people, but I’m sure on a weekend or holiday it can get pretty crowded, since the island is pretty small. The island has 10 grills and you’re allowed to take pretty much anything, except hammocks. It has restrooms, but they’re pretty dirty. The boat trip and whole experience was pleasant. And we had a lot of fun. The four stars are because of the very dirty restrooms, but it’s like most public parks.
Gilberto G — Google review
First of all where do I start? This island is falsely advertised. The water is covered in algae so you cant swim there. There are also only two ladders that help you get into the water but again it’s only on the side the has algae. The other part of this “island” has endless rocks and sea urchins so you can’t go into the water in those parts. There is no “beach “ or sand here. It was a wasted trip and there’s nothing to do on this is island. It was a complete waste of time. This was a huge disappointment. Plus the bathrooms are so disgusting

If you're ever in this area of Puerto Rico, I highly suggest renting a boat and visiting here. This place is absolutely stunning. swimming and snorkeling in the mangroves is an amazing experience. I enjoyed the quiet, early morning there. As the day goes on more and more boats anchor up. It turns into a party on the water. A great experience!

Super awesome place to be. 1st time visiting. Had a great time. Clear water, beautiful views, just simply amazing. Great for snorkeling because you can see a lot under the water. Do recommend water shoes. There are areas where you can walk across from one mangrove to another; there are clear white sands that make the pathway to cross without stepping on rocks or corals. You will find a bunch of people on different boats and definitely free music to hear.

First time visiting this place and I felt in love. We pay$25 per person round trip to get to the island. The boat will drop you off at the island and then when you ready to go you just give them a call. The water is so clear and the environment is super chill is perfect to spend the day with the family. I recommend you bring a cooler with beverages and snacks. Also try to arrive early to find a parking spot near by.

Playita Rosada is a charming sandy beach located in La Parguera, Lajas. It offers a picturesque natural enclosed pool with wooden decks, creating an ocean pool perfect for families to enjoy some fun in the sun. Although the beach itself may not be pristine, it is a great spot to relax and hang out with friends or family. Visitors can also explore hiking trails along the cliffs and take boat rides to visit small islands nearby.
We visited mainly for the hike which is a must very beautiful place several trails just explore and bring water for it gets really hot. Hike along the cliffs see the town, islands, and the swimming hole from above.

So sad this gem was destroyed by the past hurricane, never got to see the deck in its glory, there is no car entry to the picnic areas, so you’ll have to park by the gate and walk for like 5 minutes. Only went up to the deck to take some pictures, didn’t manage to get in the water. Went on a Monday, there was few people.
Francis G — Google review
I don't want to give a natural area a bad review. I guess there used to be a pool that was destroyed. I've never seen or used it but I did see what was left of it. The picnic area needs a little TLC but I think it has so much potential to be a nice picnic area. Based on the smell I don't think the water is for swimming.
Wanderlost K — Google review
The enclosed ocean pool deck is closed as of Feb 2022. The beach itself isn’t the nicest but it seems like a great place to go with a group of people and hang out. Picnic benches and grills and plenty of parking.

Update: It has been destroyed by hurricane Fiona. It’s a natural pool in the middle of the sea, is not that deep. You can chill and have fun with family.
