Sheer Rocks is a luxurious restaurant located in Antigua, offering stunning views and a Mediterranean-inspired menu curated by one of the Caribbean's most acclaimed chefs. The restaurant features two cliff-front plunge pools and linen-draped day beds, providing an exquisite backdrop for a memorable dining experience. Whether it's lunch or dinner, guests can indulge in the gourmet offerings while enjoying the picturesque scenery.
Stunning view of the nearby bay. I would recommend booking for sunset time. The service was excellent and everyone was friendly. For a special occasion they gave us a free glass of prosecco after the meal which was lovely. We had the ravioli and the fish. Both were very tasty. The highlight was the passionfruit tart for dessert. The ice cream was full of vanilla beans and the tart was light and tangy. Portions are small but delicious. In particular wine by the glass is free poured and is very very small. Overall, it's worth going for the view alone!
Niamh W — Google review
Booked this restaurant for dinner. The views are amazing and the place is very scenic, really a great spot to take pictures. But the food was ok at best, honestly there are far better places on the island for the same price. Also the service was almost nonexistent. It was pretty quick but we felt a bit like a burden at some point. So will recommend only for the cool views.

Full transparency - the first time we attempted to visit SR on the way back from having driven round St John’s and Jolly Harbour, we’d hoped to stop and have dinner. But between arriving at the time the Cocobay hotel (in which Sheer Rocks is located) was doing fogging, the time (we’d missed sunset), the roadway in (the drive is full of potholes) and the unhelpful attitude of the Cocobay staff - we aborted. It appears the relationship between the resort Cocobay and SR isn’t an overly great one and CB isn’t very helpful to outside resort guests arriving to the SR restaurant… HOWEVER Earl (the supervisor of Sheer Rocks restaurant) followed us out and asked that we given them another try… and we’re glad we did. Our second attempt was MUCH better. We arrived at 5 pm and Earl personally sat us at a table with a gorgeous view of sunset for drinks pre dinner before sitting down for dinner at 5:30 pm at a neighboring table. My husband and I enjoyed the two course meal each - the pea and ham risotto was delicious, as was the red snapper and lobster ravioli entrees (albeit VERY pricey…) - think $280 USD for two. In future should we return, we may sit at the bar and just enjoy the a la carte tapas. BIG thanks again to Earl and his team for making our visit so very enjoyable.
Alexandra C — Google review
We had dinner there on our last day at the Cocobay Resort upstairs. The resort rents property to the restaurant, otherwise they're unrelated and don't share kitchens or supplies (that we were told). The decor and infrastructure is completely symmetrical with what you see at the resort. We had reservations and didn't need to wait for our table. Service was good if a little wooden, but this could be just a culture delta. They didn't have all that we wanted to order. We chose the tasting menu with pairing of wine. It was good, but not spectacular. Some elements stood out more that others, but in all cases the servings were were small, even for a tasting menu. This was highlighted more by the fact that we paid $600 USD for the two of us. Good as it was, it was not $600 USD good. Overall, interesting discovery, by all means go and try.
Tomasz J — Google review
Service was slow but it was so beautiful and the food was great. I would recommend asking for the check early to avoid a possible long wait. Took 30 minutes to get my check.

Just a amazing place ! Put this one on your list ! The food was the best I had on the island ! Wished I would have gone twice !

I went here on Saturday to celebrate my birthday. I live in the US. From the moment my friend and I entered, it was just the two of us, there were no smiles and cold demeanors. A very un-welcoming atmosphere. We entered near the bar and a gentleman said hello and asked if we had reservations and the name on the reservation. I will say I made a mistake and didn’t complete the booking fully, I knew there were openings on Open Table, so I went ahead and made the reservation as I stood there. I was on vacation, things happen, it was my mistake. However, the attitude we were greeted with, and that stayed throughout the entire evening was unacceptable. There was a family of 4 that came right after us and they didn’t have a reservation, and he accommodated them. I am still unsure why I was treated this way. The service was so bad that even after we were seated and ordered a drink, I no longer wanted to order their food. The minimum to spend on food is $90 and I didn’t believe this establishment deserved my money with the way I was being treated on my own BIRTHDAY. The server that seated us didn’t smile didn’t give a warm or welcoming birthday wishes. The second server advised us as soon as we sat, that we have a 2 hour time limit because they are “so busy” and kept repeating how busy they are anytime we asked anything. She brought out the bread, etc; and advised her I didn’t want to order food, only drinks and enjoy the view. She stated the 3rd time, they are so busy and said we had to move back to table by the bar. She also glared at us the entire time we were seated because we didn’t order food. The view is great, but save your money. The customer service is 0/10 here. I had 2 drinks and left and went somewhere else to happily spend over $150 for better service for my birthday dinner, and I was ok with that. Read the other reviews about their service! Select lowest rating and see for yourselves. My advise to this establishment….TREAT PEOPLE BETTER, especially on their special day!! Horrible.

Darkwood Beach, located on Antigua's southwest coast, is a picturesque stretch of white sandy beach fringed by palm trees and crystal blue turquoise waters. It offers a postcard-perfect setting for beachgoers and Instagram enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy water sports in the clear sea or savor local delicacies at the nearby beachfront restaurants such as Dennis Cocktail Bar & Restaurant or Sheer Rocks, which offers Mediterranean-inspired cuisine with stunning ocean views.
Absolutely amazing clear beautiful water, long sandy beach, not crowded, good parking available around all beach close to road, natural shade. I love this beach!
Tatyana — Google review
Very nice beach. It does drop off quickly, just fyi. Some parking in the restaurant area
Dorothy K — Google review
Yet another great beach in Antigua! Easy parking, either on the road or on a dedicated lot towards the hilly end. The saline pond on the other side of the road keeps interesting birds around, while rocky formations in the water host small colourful fish and other marine creatures. The obvious distinguishing component of this beach is the floating inflatable park. We didn't get to play in it, but it does look fun, and I'm sure it's a blast for kids.
Tomasz J — Google review
Stunning picturesque beach, A must visit with calm waters. 2 loungers & umbrella US $20 price. Beach bar does have changing facilities and shower to use. See darkwood beach bar for more details.
Ian M — Google review
Great beach for waves. A couple of beach bars on the beach with toilets. Good rum punch. Not so good for snorkeling as the water is not the most clear with no real reef. Lovely sunsets here with Montserrat in the background.
Mark R — Google review
Lovely calm beach. Has water activity for children or if you're an adventurous adult. Also can pay for jet ski hire here. There's a lovely restaurant here and a bar with music. You can also get beach chairs for rent here. One of the best beaches on this side of the island.
Arlene J — Google review
Of the few beaches I explored in Antigua this has to be my favorite. Beautiful beach, beautiful sand and breathtaking view of the sunset. Across the street there’s also Aunt Cavell’s which has food that is out of this world. Can’t recommend this beach enough.
Jorge — Google review
Beautiful clean water, pleasant white sand and not many people around. The beach has restaurant, restroom and local small souvenir shop. The food wasn’t eatable, weird taste and bad quality of the products. It takes around 20-30 min to get from the port, and you need to arrange the pick up time for going back to the ship. The price is 15$ each one way.

Wild Lotus Camp Valley Church Beach

Wildlife park
Wild Lotus Camp at Valley Church Beach offers a luxurious outdoor experience with its beachfront glamping resort. The camp provides luxury tents just steps away from the pristine shoreline, offering amenities like four-poster beds and rainforest showers. Guests can enjoy various activities such as yoga retreats, snorkeling, and walking tours during their stay. Valley Church Beach itself is known for its picturesque landscape, powdery white sandy beach, and crystal clear waters.
Beautiful sandy beach with some tourists staying at local resorts. We took a boat to get to it after a snorkel trip, but you can drive right up to it. Not much to see underwater, but it is a nice secluded spot with rentable chairs and occasional vendors, and a great view of the surrounding countryside.
Seth M — Google review
The water is a bit cloudy near shore but it’s warm and still beautiful. There a huge drop off not far into the water. Lots of vendors walking by all the time. When we went the umbrella was $10. I only gave 4 stars because it wasn’t clear as expected. Still beautiful and worth the drive.
Stacy B — Google review
Good beach that's quite popular with the European crowd. It's a narrow shoreline which adds to it's more intimate feel. It cost about $5 per person each way in a shared taxi hailed from the port area. Waters are warm although a little cooler than beaches elsewhere in the Caribbean. Other than 1-2 shacks for drinks/food, there's nothing else here but Jolly Beach is about 5 minutes away by car.

Wow wow wow what a great way to start the day, nice beach, lovely ppl, great white sand, Crysta clear water, met lovely ppl , loved it
Sam T — Google review
This was a great experience for us. The staff at the Nest great. We grabbed chairs and an umbrella and just enjoyed the beach all day. Plenty to do if you want - jet ski, paddle board, kayak, etc - but also just chill and drink and read and relax in the water.
Jen M — Google review
Valley Church Beach is located on the southern side of the island and is one of the Better Beaches in Antigua and Barbuda and I dare say that it is may be in the coveted top . I have enjoyed many picnics and outings on that beach and even had Church service with a water baptism. The picturesque landscape and seascape vistas are a joy to behold and the powdery white sandy beach with crystal clear waters all provide an ambiance of calm, beauty and wellness. The beach is frequented by many Cruise Ship passengers wanting to soak up the sun, sea and sand making for a rewarding day. The motorized and non-motorized water sports available to the visitors for a "small" fee with beach chairs and umbrellas for those wishing to avail themselves of these and other conveniences. The Hotels on either end of the long stretch of beach along with a beach bar and the one-of-a-kind Luxury Tent Beach Accommodation provides options for most visitors. Valley Church Beach should be on the to do list of anyone in Antigua and Barbuda.
Dwaine L — Google review
Very nice beach, but you get low key harrassed to rent jet skis, buy drinks, etc. We eventually just said we were out of money so we could relax by the beach. Awesome views and beaches though!
Cate S — Google review
My wife and I were there on Tue, Dec 12, 2017 and we had the absolute pleasure of visiting Valley Church beach and it's nice and secluded and no peddlers - maybe 3 other peoples on the beach and it's one of our top favorite beaches.

Visitors can enjoy a beach BBQ on Fridays or indulge in the renowned suckling pig roast on Sundays. The menu features a variety of local and international dishes, including authentic Caribbean cuisine and an extensive cocktail list.
Stayed at a nearby resort and walked here for lunch 3 times. The food was delicious! We got the coconut shrimp and curry goat every time. Rosalynn was a wonderful server and so kind. Great views while you eat.
Jordan T — Google review
Located right off the beach and down from hotels, this is the place to have lunch during a beach day or dinner near your place of stay after enjoying the island. The food in this restaurant is absolutely delicious and I nominate as a must try while visiting Antigua. Prepare for a healthy wait for your food but the view of the beach will help the time pass. The dog and cat managing the place will ensure that your time eating is the best possible.
Dwight J — Google review
Food is so flavourful which is the important part and its such a nice cosy restaurant tucked in at the side of ffryes beach. We ordered the fried snapper with rice and peas and salad and a hot and spicy shrimp with fries and salad. The staff were nice however the food did take quite a long time to come....about 40-50 minutes but it was fine as we admired the view.
Aleina A — Google review
Great beach location with a cozy, but open atmosphere both in the day and evening. We were pleasantly surprised by live music. Service was great, and to top it off the local food was very flavorful. I would recommend this to anyone and will visit again.
B M — Google review
The restaurant offers a top view of the beach, which is absolutely stunning. We had the grilled fish, and it was very tasty. However, we felt the food wasn't quite proportional to the price compared to other beach restaurants in the area. Still, a lovely spot to enjoy a meal with a beautiful view!
Marta O — Google review
We stopped here for lunch during a visit in the area. The server was very friendly and helpful with our questions of the menu. Prices were on the high side but partly due to the location and gorgeous view of the beach. We ordered the whole snapper (grilled, fried and with curry) and it was superb.
Bruce L — Google review
We loved it here. The food was great, the view was amazing, and the staff members were all good people. My daughters even met a new friend while we were there and they played and had a blast. We enjoyed the rum punch, chicken bbq burger, chicken nuggets, fish and chips, and the jerk pork. Everyone enjoyed their meal so no complaints here. I would recommend.

Delicious food, and what a huge choice they have! We tried the coconut chicken, creole chicken and fish burger. Everything was incredible! We went back the following day and tried the fish n chips as well as the Curry coconut shrimps!

Basilico Italian Restaurant in Antigua, located in Jolly Harbour, is known for its exceptional food and service. It offers authentic Italian cuisine and is a popular choice among both Jolly Harbour guests and residents. The restaurant operates from 5:00pm to 10:00pm daily, providing a perfect setting for a delightful dinner experience. With its prime location on the main road of Jolly Harbour, Basilico is easily accessible to visitors exploring the area.
We rented a boat in Jolly Harbour for the day and we decided to go have lunch. Basilico had a spot for us to pull our boat right up to the dock behind the restaurant. The food was really good with a great atmosphere, watching boaters in the area. I would highly recommend this place for lunch!
Kim B — Google review
My ribs were tender and tasty, however my friend’s seafood pasta is not as pleasant! Seems like the seafood were kept in freezer far too long as my friend put it “taste like fridge”.
Keatingin — Google review
Because of the off season the Basilico was one of the few restaurants which was open. The service was nice, we’ve sat on the patio, the food was really good and quick service. The fish was fresh and tasty. Over all a good experience.
Sabine U — Google review
Great location near the Jolly Harbour docks with a very nice view of the harbour and the boats. I had a really nice experience at Basilico restaurant. The staff are very friendly and polite, the atmosphere is relaxing with a nice vibe and the food is absolutely delicious. I just had the best lamb shank on the island. For wine lovers, they have a very nice wine selection. I totally recommend Basilico restaurant. You won't regret it

I had a very wonderful time at this beautiful restaurant that sits right in Jolly Harbour. I had the lobster 🦞 dinnner the most delicious, sweetest and fulfilling dinner 🥘 I had in a very long time. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in Antigua & Barbuda 🇦🇬 My birthplace.

One of the best meals I've had on Antigua. I had the chicken parmigiana, everyone else's food was exceptional too. The service was really good, very friendly staff. They managed to accommodate a large group of 14 with no notice!
Sam M — Google review
Always an amazing experience at Basilico. They never cease to impress me. They serve the best steak in Antigua, in my opinion. The staff are very nice, polite and welcoming, the atmosphere is pleasant and vibrant and the views over the marina are unique and unforgettable. The tiramisu is one of the best I have tasted as well. I always go back with pleasure. Give it a try and you won't regret it!

Myself and my group ordered a huge variety of items from the menu because we really wanted to try as much as we can, from appetizers, to mains, to pizza, to dessert, to the cocktails and every single thing we had was beyond delicious! Hands down enjoyed all the things we ordered! I highly recommend giving this place a try as you wont be disappointed by the food! And the staff are awesome too!! :)

Day 2

Southeast side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the southeast side side of town. Start the day off with Curtain Bluff, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Turners Beach. All together, your day would be filled with about 3 hours of non-stop fun.

The 72 rooms, including suites, feature breezy Caribbean vibes with pastel hues and elegant details like marble baths. The resort caters to couples as well as larger groups and families with young children.
‘And relax’ Curtain Bluff is the perfect vacation stop. The Carribean is hard to top, but the cherry on the cake is always visiting this wonderful time-machine of a hotel, that somehow manages to make you feel instantly relaxed. If you’re looking at staying at one of the best hotels in Antigua, you will not be disappointed. It’s a high quality all-inclusive hotel that makes a huge effort and its private ownership stems a sophisticated approach to all of its guests and many friends.
Jamie D — Google review
We had to walk out of this hotel half way through our holiday. We found the manager and MD charmless. The hotel fell well below ( recently acquired) Relais Chateaux standards to our mind. It was the 3rd Relais Chateaux hotel we have visited this year and we usually stay at 5 or 6 of them every year. We chose it for the RC name and were sorely disappointed. The front desk was a place to avoid unless Zain and Carl were on duty. They were full of smiles and engaging and keen to help but otherwise the staff there would often ignore the guest's greeting. The facilities and location are great, the Spa well run and friendly. The waiters in the main restaraunt were charming and hard working. Danny runs his male team with humour and kindness and goes out of his way to look after the guests. Jackiel Benn, Hendred, Africa, the wonderful Brian ( at the Beach restaraunt, who was the only reason we did not leave on the first day, sadly and incredulously, was then moved to the back office!) and Glocester were all fab. Henry looked after our room and was engaging, efficient and friendly. Have to say the ocean front room were out dated though the bathroom had been modernised. We had no glass in the windows so the aircon leaked out through the shutters. The bed had a ridge in the middle the linen and pillows were not of good quality. The sinks and toilet did not drain properly. The matting was grubby as was the sheer modesty curtain ( the curtain is much needed as there is a footpath outside uour balcony used by staff and guests so privacy is hard) The chef Chrisoph was good and helpful but i think still the hotel could offer more variety for a RC hotel. The lunch offering resembled a school or office canteen despite the lovely setting. Dinner at the beach is handled by the efficient Auslando but you can not disguise the fact that there is just a curtain dividing the beach bar from the restaraunt and more staff are needed there. The diving team are friendly but too keen to cancel a dive. This happened 4 times in 6 days. The rive team seem to think that if only 1 guest wants to dive then it is not worth doing it. They are inflexible on timing or on offering a beach dive if it is too choppy to go to the reef by boat. If you are a serious diver you need to book with an outside provider. The pool staff were always late and unhelpfulat the afult pool. I think a good example of what it is like to be a guest, is illustrated when i asked the front desk for the room to be cleaned. I explained my husband would need the room in just over 1 .5 hrs and asked if we could just get a quick clean before 10.00 AM. I returned to the room at 10 to 10 to find it had not been cleaned. So i called reception again and asked if someone was still coming to clean it. The curt reply i got was " It is 9.56"! This says it all. In most hotels the member of staff would be reprimanded or even lose their job but in this hotel it was deemed ok. I complained to the manager directly and by email and she never deigned to reply to my email...which is just rude. We brought all issues to her attention and she did introduce us to the chef and bring a fan to our room but then was "off" and gave us no contact info or any one else to contact if problems persisted. She had twice "cut us dead" when we greeted her and the " arrival welcome" was pittiful. We were left to get our cases out despite 3 staff members being in the area. We should have listened to our instincts then and got back in the cab. We checked with other guests and 3 different couples felt the same as us. Though there are many guests who return every year... i have to wonder if they have low expectations or do not like exploring what else is on offer.

Beautiful location once inside and the rooms are immaculate. However……The food is the worst we have ever had. The drinks that are included don’t include any cocktails you might know but merely their ‘special blends’. Ice cream sundaes are scoops of ice cream with nothing else. No bananas or mangos (we are in Antigua!?). This might be ok for some people if you’re used to package holidays but if you’re British it falls WAY below standard. The female local staff have severe attitude problems too. Entertainment was lovely but we were starving.

We had another amazing trip to Curtain Bluff and everyone there made us feel like family! We were invited to the owner's home and I can't describe how incredible the views are from there! The staff is awesome and they are all welcoming, happy and fun. Will definitely be coming back many times.
Susan A — Google review
I had the luxury of experiencing what a special place Curtain Bluff is. The location on a peninsula offers spectacular swimming in the always perfect temperature bay. The water sports were always ready for use, I simply asked and within minutes we were being pulled behind the boat tubing and water skiing. I did not get to go sailing or paddle boarding, or enjoy the other water sport options, but they were always available ready to use. I also enjoyed playing tennis daily on their 4 courts surrounded by lush greenery and the the bay. The meals and food they served was delicious with a variety of options for everyone I was traveling with. They had Vegetarian, gluten free and every day the chef changed the menus. I enjoyed the Sunday brunch when in addition to the breakfast menu they served favorite local island dishes. With this being an all inclusive resort, everything was available to us without the hassle of carrying around money or a purse or even a towel for the beach. This made the stay another level of incredible. One afternoon we chartered a catamaran to tour the island on and a snorkel at the 6 mi long reef. This was an additional cost, but the front desk arranged it and we boarded right on the beach at the resort. No bus or driving anywhere! Every employee who I met was incredible, any request from booking a catamaran to the IT guy getting me all setup was simple, fast & friendly. The service during this entire trip was top and truly added to our stay. The only thing I wish was that I had more time there to enjoy the Spa (I heard it was great!) and another game of boccie.
Megan T — Google review
To start, the food was exceptional. I have stayed at all inclusive hotels in the past where the cuisine wasn’t always favorable, absolutely not the case here.Willard Benn was our server many times throughout our stay, and his service as well as every one else was outstanding.I have an allergy to feather pillows, the woman the cleaned our room carefully labeled our pillows. The grounds are meticulous. Peaceful, gorgeous, and well deserving of 5 stars!

One of my favorite all inclusive resorts. This hotel has something for everyone. Not many hotels have two fabulous beaches, all rooms are oceanfront, the staff are incredibly welcoming, the facilities are world-class and the spa has to be the best positioned spa around - these views!! I would highly recommend and look forward to my next visit!

Outdoor Activities
Turners Beach, also known as Crab Hill Beach, is a laid-back Caribbean destination located in the southwestern region of Antigua. It offers white sandy shores and warm waters for swimming and scuba diving. The beach features a restaurant/bar and permanent umbrellas for visitors to relax under. While it can get crowded during peak season and cruise ship days, it provides a serene setting to unwind and enjoy the tropical sun.
Stayed here for 10 days but also toured the island. By far our favorite beach in Antigua. Calm, warm water and never crazy busy. Spectacular sunsets with Montserrat in the distance.

Pretty Decent I didn’t visit for the beach but food instead. I was on that side of the island and couldn’t find a decent spot to eat. We stumbled on this spot that has a long drive in with clean open space and a nice parking. The restaurant is open with seating and a bar connected to the kitchen area. There was complementary rum punch on a table upon entering and the server was helpful. The food was prepared quickly and the cost wasn’t bad. The beach looked beautiful; there were persons out in the water and along the beach. The property also has bathrooms.

200% the best beach for shells on the entire island! Basically free reef diving too.

One of our many favorite beaches on the island, always a very peaceful place like having your own personal beach for the while.

We stopped at Turners Beach as part of our Mystic Cruises snorkeling excursion. The beach is real nice with soft, almost powdery sand. I walked down the beach to visit Turners Beach Bar. Melly was tending bar and she is excellent. Very friendly. She’ll mix your drink just how you want. I asked her to suggest a cocktail. Antigua Smile was her reply. I went for it. A delicious mixture of Antiguan Cavalier Rum, Banana Liquor and pineapple juice. Turners Beach Bar is open air, friendly and has a fantastic view of the ocean and Turner Beach. A great stop for both food and drink whether by boat or car.

If you want a white sand beach that's not crowded, this is your place. We were the only ones there. We saw it on our way to Darkwood, went to Darkwood and immediately turned back to go to Turners Beach. We parked down the road just a bit, and walked in and enjoyed the water. Not sure how great it is for kids, cause it did get steep at some parts, but if you're just looking for a quick dip in the ocean after a hot day exploring the island, this is an awesome stop.

Nice clean beach with bar can be noise also a bit rough

One of my favorite beaches in Antigua. No sea weed and the water is clear. There are also a few quaint bars along that strip

Amazing view! Perfect Sunset dinner! We celebrated our 1 year anniversary dinner and they didn't disappoint!
Morgan P — Google review
The place is really nice but the food experience was not near to what I expected. The duck salad was 95% of the most regular one, some carrots, peanuts and 5 pieces of fried duck with nothing to offer. The spinach caneloni where nothing but regular. Absolutely crowded with cold spinach and some feta cheese. No flavor but too salty. And for the end the pork belly that was also cold and with no flavor at all. The mango margarita was really messy. With coarse salt on the top and a big piece of lime that has nothing to do. Also with no flavor at all.

Fantastic restaurant with stunning views. Sunday afternoon chill out is great. A little pricey but what do you expect?

Great local fine dining on a hilltop with a great view to the west.

I had fun here with my family, great view and beautiful sunset. My food was great, only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because my brothers steak came out under cooked was sent back twice and still charged for it, it should have been comped
