Very large shopping centre with plenty of shops on multiple floors. The toilets are clean and there spots to just sit and relax. There's bowling and arcade, and a food court perfect for a day out. And it's just a few minutes from the bus station.

One stop shopping mall with decent parking prices. Not too busy and has shops like All Saints, River Island, New Look, JD sports among others. Watch out for the bear 🐻

Multiple entrances / exits. Disorganized, there is no directory for you to go through. But there is an Information Desk who will assist you. It’s clean and more shops are in the pipeline. At the moment, Marks and Spencer, Sainsbury, Poundland, Greggs, Booths, Footlocker, Starbucks, krispycream.. etc. Decent Foodcourt consist of Subway, KFC, Popeyes, Nandos, Asian corner, Wagamamas and many more. Only 5 - 10 mins walk to the Derby Train station, or if you are bit lazy taxi stand is right there.

Great free experience in Derby. Some really interesting things to see in here, with a number of different themed rooms over 3 floors. The staff helped us out and were really friendly and welcoming! Well worth a trip

I really enjoyed my visit to Derby Museum. The archaeology section was full of interesting pieces and told the stories in a way that was easy to follow. The highlight for me was definitely Joseph Wright’s paintings, they were displayed beautifully and felt really special to see in person. The museum itself is easy to get around and has a nice mix of history and art. A great place to spend an afternoon.

Didn't know what a gem this was! Free entry for this place is mad. It has so much to see. There was art, taxidermy, ceramics, history of war room. A cafe on the ground floor too. So much to see and can easily spend a good hour or two here. The staff were pleasant and helpful, too.

This was a fantastic museum to visit, where we went to the section about the history of transportation in Derby! The steam traction engine model is a fantastic feature alongside different trains including diesel ones too, really appreciate the model railways working here.

I'm surprised at the exhibitions within this museum, I took my daughters as they had there school project put up as an exhibition. The staff were really polite and friendly and we're very informative with my girls. There were many looked after artifacts, ranging from roman, Anglo saxon , Egyptian and many more, to which I was actually glued looking at.

Took 3 of our grandchildren here today. They really enjoyed it especially the army section and the mummy and the natural history section. Excellent place.. good disabled access too. Went to the cafe for hot chocolate afterwards.. Free but we gave £10 donation as these places deserve our support

The Museum of Making in Derby is a popular attraction located at the Silk Mill, known as the world's first modern factory. It showcases the 300-year-old history of making in Derby and aims to inspire creativity. The museum's Collections of Making feature objects and archives that document Derby's manufacturing history and its people.
We visited today and 10/10 for the wonderful staff, both in the museum and the cafe. Everyone was super-friendly and helpful and made us very welcome. We visited the Earthbound exhibition on the top floor (on until January 2026) and it was fascinating, hugely varied and easily the same level as London exhibits in, say, The Science Museum or Tate Modern. I have mobility issues so I was chuffed to see loads of seats to have small rests on and a spacious lift to all floors. We also had tasty food in the cafe and flat white that hit the spot. If you haven't been, go. If you have, go again! 🥳

Derby Museum is an amazing place to visit! The staff are very friendly and take the time to explain everything in detail. The collection of paintings, antiques, and many other fascinating exhibits make it a truly enriching experience. A must-visit spot for anyone interested in art, history, and culture

We have just celebrated our 5 year anniversary at the Italian Mill (Museum of Making) and cannot fault a thing! From start to finish the staff at the venue were amazing, so helpful and accommodating in the arranging process but also on the night, the staff were so so friendly and guests even commented on this. The venue is absolutely stunning and our event decorator (Silhouette Events) brought our ideas to life in the most wonderful way. It’s such a gorgeous space and perfect central location when you have people travelling from different places which we did. We had plenty of space for our DJ, Dancefloor, Photo Booth, soft play and snack table. We had 110 guests and the space was perfect. The price for hire is so reasonable which was also a major factor for us as some similar event spaces in and around Derbyshire with this same industrial style were just way out of budget. Please consider this location for your event! We and the guests were blown away at how gorgeous it looked on the day and when the lights go down for the evening, it’s magical! Absolute 10/10!!
Rianne H — Google review
We called into the museum to use up a couple of hours before catching a train later that afternoon. It would have been easy to spend more time here. It's a free museum with donations welcomed - and in my opinion thoroughly deserved. Over four floors there are a huge selection of artifacts showing how Derby was in at the start of the Industrial Revolution and still continues to be important - it's hard to miss the Trent engine hanging above you! Staff were helpful when required and the exhibits have been displayed in an imaginative way, making good use of the building and natural light.
Philip W — Google review
A lovely experience! The museum is beautifully designed, with so much to see and learn. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in Derby — a great mix of history, creativity, and local pride.
Ephila J — Google review
I've been here many times and it's a nice place to visit and interesting, with a lovely cafe, but it feels incomplete. The room with a train line is fantastic but it needs a train moving around it to make it engaging. There's a room full of 'stuff' but with little to no information about it which makes you feel like you're in an antique shop. The creative opportunities for children and shop are lovely. I really hope that the team find a way to give it that spark to make it feel complete.
Harriet W — Google review
Attended as a school group for a 'playful materials' workshop. Was impressed by the depth of knowledge intertwined into the workshop paired with opportunities to work with various materials. Children were excited about being in the museum space. However, this particular workshop was perhaps best suited for ages 6+, our youngest pupils found its depth challenging. The staff leading the workshops were very knowledgeable and supportive of the varied needs in our group. Would certainly recommend and look to book again for future cohorts.

Pride Park Stadium is the home ground of Derby County, also known as the Rams. It offers dining options and tours that include access to the directors' box, tunnel, and pitch. The stadium, which opened in 1997, can accommodate over 30,000 people and provides a modern setting for football matches. Visitors can enjoy a good atmosphere and impressive views while watching their favorite team play. Additionally, Igors bar at Pride Park offers a unique experience with allocated tables overlooking the pitch.
An absolute cracking stadium from the views outside the stadium can be seen far away the stadium stands out plus it’s very close to the city centre has plenty of parking plus a Greggs also a card machine which comes in handy but my first time attended an event the entrance was spotless while going up the stairs sports memorabilia photos of past legends plus iconic managers Brian clough just to name one that goes down in folk history. The room was set up fantastically the views of the pitch were great

We had an amazing time at Pride park stadium watching England vs Andorra! Stadium spot on, clean toilets and queue to the drinks/snacks went down pretty quickly. Parking was easy and parked right next to the stadium for £10.
Natalie B — Google review
What a great stadium for clarity of view and cleanliness. Not disability accessible friendly in any way. If you have any mobility needs be aware accessible tickets sell out very quickly, and there are no accessible lifts to higher levels. blue badge parking is reserved for Derby county fans regardless if it’s an international event. England women matches are held here frequently but home England fans arnt catered for at all and the accessibility staff at Derby just pin point. you to car parks meaning you’re miles away with no way of getting to the ground. I wasn’t the only fan to pick up on this. What I did see was that there were people driving golf carts to make sure those with less ability could get to there turnstile. Food was good and not as pricey as other stadiums we’ve been to.

Took my son for his first ever live game and he loved every time of it (even though DCFC lost 3-5 😢 but it was an entertaining game anyway) I had to register both myself and my son as a fan online then called booked the tockets over the phone, the lady was so nice, friendly and helpful, and she really did give the best seat possible. Thank you 😊 well be going more regularly now

Decent ground, staff treated away support like humans. Reasonable prices and choices on food and drink. Good local parking, bookable on line, easy to escape on to the M1.

Great venue. Gaining entry well organised. Finding your seat a little challenging when its busy. Toilets good. Food vendors good. View excellent. Atmosphere terrific.

We had a great time watching the women's England match vs Australia. Great atmosphere, easy access in to and out of the stadium.

I am a huge fan of DCFC, the ground is easily accessible from Derby City, we generally walk from the centre. When I had an accident and had to park at the ground, the stewards collecting you from the car park in the buggies are lovely and helpful. I have sometimes had to move seats for certain reasons and again it's been no problem to organise. The food areas are a little expensive but not as high as other stadiums that I have visited.

The Wonky Table Restaurant is a charming family-run bistro located on Sadler Gate, offering a relaxed and rustic ambiance across two floors and a terrace garden. The establishment prides itself on its ever-changing seasonal menus that feature comforting homemade European dishes and cocktails. Guests can enjoy the cozy atmosphere for first dates or opt for a romantic dinner in the Terrace Garden adorned with glowing lanterns and fairy lights.
I’ve heard so much about The Wonky Table, past it a few times, read up on reviews. Last night I tried it and it did not disappoint!! Very quirky, home-feel restaurant. Limited Menu but with some great options. The food was great and the service too. Would recommend, definitely. Thank you 💫
Trehan — Google review
Pretty odd experience here last night. Starter of lamb kofta was subpar, lamb had a very synthetic taste. The taste, shape and texture suggested it was from a packet. Salad was drowned out by the sauce. This made for a very unpleasant taste alongside the sharp cheese. I didn't finish this. The main was a massive dissapointment. Pork belly, with Irish champ which was absolutely swimming in grease. See picture, just look at the plate it is drenched in fat and oil and grease. There's no excuse for that at all. Got halfway through and just couldn't finish. To their credit they offered to put the desserts on the house and after some persuasion by the waitress we tried a dessert. The key lime pie was nice. The head waiter seemed to want to plant himself about a yard away from our table awkwardly. The waitresses seemed nervous around him. Not a pleasant experience at all and not one I could recommend to anyone. Giving 2 stars as they did at least attempt to correct the mains issue.

Restaurant
Wagamama Derby is a vibrant casual dining spot nestled in the bustling Derbion shopping centre, perfect for those looking to take a break from their retail adventures. With its Japanese-inspired ambiance and communal seating, it offers an inviting atmosphere to unwind. The menu is impressively diverse, catering to various dietary needs and preferences, making it an ideal choice for anyone craving flavorful Asian cuisine.
My friend and I went to Wagamama for lunch, and we were really satisfied with the food and drinks we ordered. Everything had a unique and delicious flavor that we truly enjoyed. The restaurant also had a great atmosphere, which made the experience even better. Highly recommended!
Sheida — Google review
Usually a big fan of Wagamama's and have had consistently great experiences at the Birmingham locations, and abroad, but this visit to the Derby branch was a bit disappointing. The food tasted a bit off, not as fresh or flavorful as I'm used to. Service not the best. Also, the atmosphere was incredibly loud and made it difficult to have a conversation with someone sitting opposite! It's a shame as I usually love Wagamama's, but this one didn't quite hit the mark.
Kelly — Google review
Had a few takeaways from this store and love their unique twist on Asian food. Love the bang bang cauliflower and the katsu curry. The quality of the ingredients seem to make all the difference as it just always feels like a quality meal compared to other Eastern restaurants.
Jody B — Google review
We hadn't intended going out for dinner but fancied something to eat after a trip to the cinema. Having never tried Wagamama before, we decided to give it a go as the restaurant didn't look too busy. We were very pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food was. A very attentive lady explained the menu and made a few recommendations. I ordered crispy duck with noodles which was superb! The young man who took our order was lovely and very polite. My only criticism of the experience was that our meals did not arrive together, and my partner had eaten the majority of his before mine arrived. However, this would not deter me from a re-visit as we really enjoyed the good-value and tasty food!
Linda L — Google review
The food was very tasty and the service was good too! The only fault with our visit was that it was quite cold in the restaurant. I really enjoyed my Chilli Chicken Ramen and would definitely have it again! My sister really enjoyed what she had too, she had the Ginger Chicken Udon.
Melissa M — Google review
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal; the staff were wonderful, and everything was fresh and clean.
Hayden W — Google review
The wagamammas team were amazing yesterday. My ten year old daughter and her eight friends celebrated there yesterday. The food and service were brilliant. The staff were so helpful and couldn’t do enough to help the girls. Thanks so much for a memorable meal for the little girls. Five stars.
Laura H — Google review
We chose Wagamama knowing and accepting the "food arrives when ready" concept, but our recent experience was profoundly disappointing, stemming from a complete lack of coordination and inattentive service. The main issue was that one member of our party's ramen order was completely forgotten. While the rest of our dishes arrived one by one, his remained missing. We had to flag down our waitress to chase the order. Despite her effort, and seeing kitchen staff seemingly more focused on conversing than cooking. It was only after a second prompt, and when the rest of us had essentially finished our entire meal, that the ramen finally arrived. But we had it refunded and had to find our friend somewhere else to eat. This breakdown meant one person observed us eating, completely ruining the shared dining experience and putting us off our food too. The staff overall seemed rushed and inattentive, and there was a clear failure in communication between the front of house and the kitchen. If a dish is going to take substantially longer (or, in this case, be forgotten entirely), there needs to be better proactive communication to the diner and a stronger focus on ensuring tables can eat together. This was a poor experience, and better process coordination is definitely needed. I had to leave a review as it ruined our shopping day. We tried to dine in as we wanted to rest for lunch but we didnt find this helped us at all feel rested and relaxed. Refund on the Ramen, free drink offered but didnt make up for our ruined shared experience as a group. Wont return.

The restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly and efficient. The blonde worker with longer hair stands out for his exceptional sandwich-making skills, consistently producing high-quality sandwiches. Overall, the shop maintains a good level of cleanliness and serves fresh and delicious food. They offer a standard menu with a good variety of options, ensuring consistent quality every time.
Great healthy salad boxes. Lovely salad boxes. Great healthy choice on the go. Fast service by these staff. Love to double the protein and enjoy the fresh salad. Great offers on the app too. Nice big seating area in the shopping centre.

Oh dear, just been to get a tuna salad for my wife, got home and where's the tuna? Wait what's that white stuff in the corner, at a push it could be called tuna, not a full portion and very runny, my sub is stale, the new ordering system looks like it has taken the focus away from the food quality, they used to take real care over your food, what a waste of money it was today 😔😔😔
Les H — Google review
Place is ridiculous during busy times your directed to the machines to order the food yourself. Can only add one sauce, can't fulfil my usual order. For a plain pepperoni sub you have to put it through as a veggie delite and add the pepperoni, how are we meant to know this?
Jade L — Google review
Oh dear subway what have you done.. Ignoring the massive price hike, the move to ‘kiosk’ and ‘app’ ordering is absolutely awful. The amount of combinations and menus just don’t work for subway. When you try and order the traditional way you get told to order on the kiosk. Vouchers and deals wouldn’t apply, so I go to the till, to be told to order at the kiosk. The mobile app is just 100x worse, not user friendly at all, applying offers just doesn’t work, Another annoying this is my app order was shown as ready to collect on the screen for a good 10 minutes before it was actually ready. Can safely say I’ll never be coming to this subway again because it’s just so frustrating. Rather go to Greg’s over the road, pick up a sandwich, pay, and leave.

Indian restaurant
Anoki Restaurant Derby offers a vibrant and stylish dining experience with a modern take on classic Indian cuisine. Located in an old picture house on London Road, the restaurant features elegant decor, including ornate furnishings beneath a gilded vaulted ceiling and opulent interiors adorned with dramatic artwork and extravagant chandeliers. The waiters dressed in traditional Indian attire add to the overall ambiance.
Drove past this restaurant a few times, of which it caught my eye because of the exterior design and the ambience of the inside. I’ve always been a fan of Indian food and this just heightened how much I enjoy it. Decided to go this afternoon and to be honest I felt a bit underdressed, it was really well set up and the atmosphere was great although there wasn’t many people there (because of the time of day we went), the service was great and to top it all off the food was nothing short of amazing 🤤 will be going back there soon for sure.

10/10 for food and service! The chilli fish was the highlight for me, definitely found my new favourite Indian! Photo does not do it justice!

A warm welcome and fantastic service by Yas. Lovely surroundings, plenty of tables and a nice menu. Food arrived quickly, was a good size portion and tasted amazing. The flavours were exceptional and there was plenty of food size chicken that was very tender. The Indian dessert was great too, with warm and cold combinations working very well. There's street parking nearby too, so made all for a great experience. Highly recommend, 10/10. I'll certainly visit again.

It was stunning from the start. As soon as we stepped foot in this beautiful restaurant, we were greeted with a beautiful welcoming feel. The food was stunning and we licked the plates clean. Also at the end surprisingly we were given free dessert! The whole experience was special and we would definitely come back.

I highly recommend this Indian restaurant !!!!!!! The food is delicious and the atmosphere is authentic. The decor and music truly transport you to this lovely country ❣️ The service is excellent and very helpful. The boss even let us in early, me and my husband were rushing to catch a train because we were only there for a visit, and the boss let us in early, which we really appreciated because we were very hungry and with a small child. Thank you very much, and we will definitely be back. Thank you again and best regards ❤️❤️❤️

For day 2, we recommend exploring the center side of town. Start the day off with Markeaton Park, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Derby Theatre. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Markeaton Park, located near Derby, is a popular destination for families and visitors. This expansive public space spans over 207 acres and offers a variety of attractions such as craft village, gardens, boating lake, kids' play area, and sporting facilities. The park hosts numerous events throughout the year including festive celebrations with live music, Christmas crafts, and an Elf Trail competition. Additionally, it provides a glimpse into history with remnants of an old World War II army camp.
Lovely urban park on the outskirts of Derby. Visited yesterday for parkrun. Large hand standing paid car park. Only gripe is the one time I actually didn't have cash, the machines were cash only. Not everyone likes using apps. Contactless on the machine options as well please. Lovely craft center and free toilets. Would visit again

We (two families) went to the paddling pool (last weekend) and had about 30 minutes of water time. We noticed that the water was very cold and dirty, with visible mud. The bathroom facilities were also unclean, and the pool seemed overcrowded. The next day, our children—and the adults who were with them in the pool—experienced vomiting, fever, and diarrhea. This may have been caused by poor water quality. I hope this review is taken into consideration to help improve conditions, such as controlling the number of visitors, enforcing rules like requiring a shower before entering the pool, and ensuring frequent cleaning and sanitation. Otherwise, the play areas were excellent.

One of the best parks in the area as it has big open spaces and lots of facilities. Good flat walking areas with hard paths. Toilet facilities and a nice cafe with a beautiful outdoor seating area. They also have a limited 1 hour free parking if you need to just pop in, which is located near the shops. The triangle near the garden centre also has limited free parking, as well as the crem. The park has lots of things to do for kids, one of the biggest play areas I've seen. The paddling pool is also open in the summer, which is the best thing ever on a hot day.

Love going here as a family. There are so many things to do. The parking itself is pretty cheap, if you're paying on the MiPermit app you're looking at about £4.70 for four hours which is very decent considering. Recommended to go with kids as the Mundy Play Centre is fantastic. There's a huge park which is great for kids of most ages (smaller section for the little ones and a huge pirate ship and some climbing areas for older ones). There's also canoes, high ropes, bouncy castles, small kids cars and inflatable slides. Most of which you do have to pay extra for, and it varies in price but overall it's relatively inexpensive for what it is. There is also a great shops in the craft centre area. Overall a fantastic day out with the whole family and you can easily spend hours there. Whether you're wanting to entertain the kids, have a picnic or just a stroll round the park

Large open space park offering a range of activities and features for all ages. Plenty of parking but is app only. Scan QR code to download app and then pay for parking. We paid £2.70 for 2hrs. There is a play area for kids and a stream for dogs to play in. Cafe and restaurant for anyone wanting to eat. Also ice cream vans. Some craft shops in centre of park. Plenty of trails and woodland to explore.

Darley Park is an expansive natural area located along the Derwent River in Derby. This 80-acre park features rolling fields, woodlands, and flower gardens, making it a picturesque location for families to explore. Children can marvel at the vibrant butterfly garden and diverse wildlife including bees, otters, owls, woodpeckers, and kingfishers.
Beautiful park, masses of open space, mature trees riverside walks and seating areas. Parking is a bit limited in the main car parks, but you can park with care on the streets.

Darley Park is an absolute gem for dog owners! My tiny girl had an absolute blast paddling in the river. It's shallow and gentle enough for them to safely splash around. The park is also filled with mature trees, offering plenty of shade on warmer days, and my dog was endlessly entertained by the many squirrels darting about. It's really convenient having toilets on site and the cafe is a lovely bonus for grabbing a drink. The river itself is truly beautiful, adding to the park's overall charm. However, be warned, this park is incredibly popular, and for good reason! It gets very busy, especially on weekends and sunny afternoons. Finding a parking spot can be a real challenge, so arriving early is definitely recommended. Despite the crowds and parking situation, the joy my dog gets from the river and the lovely surroundings (and the handy facilities!) make Darley Park a lovely spot to visit. Just plan ahead!

Great park with wide open spaces that are perfect for walking and very dog-friendly too. There’s always something going on, from cricket and football to a rock climbing facility we spotted during our visit. There are some lovely pubs nearby and a café right at the park entrance. Just a heads-up the café is cash-only, which is a bit unusual these days. The only downside was the parking. We arrived early and were lucky to get a spot in the small free car park off Darley Park Road, right near the entrance. I can imagine parking would be much more difficult later in the day. There may be other options nearby but we didn’t explore further. All in all, it’s a fantastic spot to spend a few hours outdoors. Definitely worth a visit!

A beautiful Park on the very edge of Derby City Centre, and easily accessible by foot from the ring road, as well as some limited car parking at two areas if you're early enough. There's a wonderful footpath along the western edge of the river Derwent which splits off towards the cricket pitch. There is a wonderful seated patio area with a shop selling ice cream cornets and a few children's play area's as well. The main park is a beautifully manicured grass area with shaded area's of mature trees 🌳 in which to take shade under during hot sunny weather 😎🌞.

A beautiful space, great parking, access, well maintained paths. Sports fields, play area, family picnic areas, the Derwent river banks with beautiful views accross from Darley playing fields, etsablished trees & wild areas, park gardens & cafe, circular walk through Darley Abbey recommended...dog friendly.

Lots of places to roam around in lovely tree lined open spaces - playgrounds - toilets - cafe and ice cream place too. The open spaces appeared clear of usual dog mess with lots of bins for waste. Some nice walks under the different trees and open spaces for ball games. Cafe sells hot and cold food plus drinks with a good sized sitting area outside - parking at busy times difficult and surrounding street parking cintrollled by residents only pass but there are a few areas limited to two hour stays

Derby Silk Mill, situated in Derby, United Kingdom, is a significant historical site and a must-see for history enthusiasts and those intrigued by industrial heritage. Dating back to 1717, it holds the distinction of being the world's first factory and played a pivotal role in shaping Derby into a bustling manufacturing center during the Industrial Revolution.
Shame we endured a mess-up when the staff forgot us, because it was otherwise great. They have a great choice of different beers and lovely food at reasonable prices, including some veggie options. The staff are good (except the forgetful ones). Nice outside area.

A stunning pub with a fun menu! A very last minute random choice of The Silk Mill Derby turned out to be a brilliant decision. Despite arrive close to the kitchen closing time, the staff were extremely accommodating and provided incredible service. We sat in the bar area, played the available board games and had the most unreal food. Cannot wait to go again to try more of the menu.

Great pub in the city center. Got both indoor and outdoor seating. Good variety of beer available and they also do a meal service other than just pub food. Drinks can be walk-in but if you are going for food, a reservation is recommended. Staff is friendly and fast which is always good to see. Ideal if you are looking for a pub without leaving the city center.

Excellent pub! I visited here on a Saturday evening with my wife as we were staying at the Premier Inn a few minutes walk away, after watching a show at The Vaillant. So from a location perspective it’s excellent and it’s with a short walking distance of the locations mentioned above and is an excellent choice if you’re not wanting to be in very busy and lively city centre pubs. The staff here were super attentive, friendly and efficient. The pub has an excellent outdoor area, spacious and well laid out. The inside of the pub looks really nice, good decor, clean, plenty of seating available. Good choice of drinks and bar snacks, we didn’t eat here so cannot comment on any food offering. Prices were as expected for a city pub of this standard. Toilets were clean despite the number of customers. My wife made a point of telling me that the ladies was spotless and had sanitary items available for free which she was very impressed about.

Excellent place for a quiet beer and a bite to eat. Wide selection of beers etc. and a decent selection of nosh. Close to the city centre but just off the beaten track. Spotlessly clean, friendly, helpful staff and a lovely laid back atmosphere with some decent background music wafting around. There’s an outside beer garden type place with a smoking shelter that could be mistaken for a sauna ! Well worth a visit.

Friendly staff, great new menu, fantastic chefs and is a perfect place for any type of meetings or events.. I will be back for sure to try the pies next... Thanks again for an amazing visit.. JJ Tait

Derby Silk Mill, located in the heart of Derby, is a fascinating blend of history, innovation, and interactive learning. Known as the world’s first factory, it’s part of the UNESCO Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, and you can really feel the weight of history as soon as you step inside. The museum does a wonderful job of telling the story of Derby’s industrial heritage while making it accessible and engaging for all ages. The exhibits are thoughtfully arranged, covering everything from the city’s pioneering role in the Industrial Revolution to modern-day engineering marvels. There’s a strong hands-on element — with workshops, maker spaces, and interactive displays — making it a great spot for families and curious minds alike. The staff and volunteers are friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the mill’s legacy. The building itself is beautifully restored, mixing its historic charm with modern touches. Plus, the riverside location makes for a pleasant stroll before or after your visit. If you’re interested in history, engineering, or just want an inspiring day out, Derby Silk Mill is a must-visit. It’s not just a museum — it’s a place where past and future meet.

Derby QUAD is a dynamic creative hub featuring an independent cinema, art gallery, and a trendy cafe-bar. It also offers versatile event spaces for hire. The center is located in the heart of Derby's Cathedral Quarter and has quickly become a cultural landmark in the area. Visitors can enjoy indie film screenings and take advantage of meal deals at the cinema, followed by drinks at the vegan-friendly cafe bar.
Really nice place, went here for the first time a few days ago to see ‘My Neighbour Totoro’ and it was great. The cinema screen was a good size and was projected well with no issues, the sound quality was good & the seats were comfy with a good amount of leg room. The staff that I interacted with were all very nice & helpful too. They also had a good selection of drinks and snacks (thought the snack selection was less than most cinemas but still decent), I can’t comment on the hot food that they serve though because I didn’t try any, nor did I see any. They also had a nice little cafe space downstairs that was very nice, with a few tables & chairs and a small couch.

Cracking joint this place let me tell ya pal! Its abit of an all rounder if im honest with ya. Its got a bar/cafe that always seems to be rammed with folk either sampling one of the quads finest or having a natter over a cuppa. Plenty of snack and food options available also. Its next door to the register office and have seen couples married having celebratory pints and also wakes taken place here! Upstairs they have a number of screens showing all kinds of films it really is a unique place. Gotta love the quad, keep up the good work you quadsters!

Derby Theatre, formerly known as Derby Playhouse, is a modern theater located in the heart of Derby. It offers a diverse range of performances from both classic and contemporary plays to new productions by emerging playwrights. The theater also serves as a hub for local talent, providing workshops and open mic nights for aspiring actors, writers, and producers. Additionally, it is equipped with facilities for patrons with disabilities including wheelchair access, free carer spaces, disabled toilets, and lifts.
Great little theatre - no bad seat in the house due to the well angled seating, and as it's not very large, always able to see the stage well. I've seen a few different productions here and they've always been great quality travelling theatre productions. Well stocked bar with snacks (but a nut-free-zone).

Such a great little theatre. I am pretty local to Derby and this was my first time visiting. I parked in the basement car park and the theatre was easy to get to from there. The views from the seats are good and I don't think any of the seats would of had a bad view due to positions/angles. I am a plus size woman who carries her weight in her hips and these seats are better than normal theatre seating as they only have arm rests. The staff are friendly and very accommodating.
Tina R — Google review
Had a coffee before the performance and shared a scone which was very nice. Comfy seats with decent leg room. Interval ice creams were £3.50 and card payment only. Only toilets are on the floor you enter on so need to leave time for going up and down stairs twice if you happen to be sat near the front!

We went to see Rosie Jones and it was just amazing, from arriving to taking our seats the whole experience was first rate, I picked seats on the second row from the front of the stage, the price was reasonable and the seats quite comfortable, Rosie Jones was fabulous and the show was a laugh out loud riot.

Really nice local theatre. Went to see the great gatsby. There was a lot of sickness in the cast and someone stepped up to a main role in 5 hours. If they didnt announce it, you wouldn't have known. Very talented team. The theatre is modest but has everything you need.
Sarah P — Google review
I have enjoyed a couple of events at The Derby Theatre in recent weeks. A sound production of The Great Gatsby and a performance by American comedian, Rich Hall. The atmosphere in the auditorrium was excellent for both. The theatre offers a fine line of sight from any seat and provides an intimate environment enabling audience members to feel close to the performers. This theatre should be receiving a five star rating but is often let down by a poor, at times, amateurish feeling front of house. This is in contrast to the theatre's previous incarnation as The Derby Playhouse with it's professional bar and restaurant. I do not believe the staff are to blame but rather the general organisation and management. The theatre is a great asset to Derby and improvements especially to the front of house might return it to its place as the formidable regional attraction it once enjoyed.

Great sports bar with multiple screens and a very large screen. Also has booths with a screen in each. Got busy on 6 nations day and the bar was not easy to get served. Would recommend though.

Not the first time I have been to Bar Sport, but this time we booked 3 booth as we knew that it would be a busy time to go. It was a Saturday afternoon and the Six Nations were on. The staff were very friendly; on the floor and behind the bar. They were great in making sure that all empty glasses were taking off the table and when we wanted to change the channel, they were able to do so. Would recommend if you want to have a good catch up whilst eating good food and watching the rugby or football. The other goers may be influenced by alcohol and this may create a different experience. However, the staff are always great at making sure they are behaving. Will be coming back.

Nice bar.. really like the individual booths and the customer service of the staff who were super-efficient. Food was excellent...freshly cooked and tasted superb! The only small thing I would say is that the individual viewing booths you couldn't access the commentary from what we were watching due to the big screen noise (fair enough...it is a Sports Bar!)...perhaps (post Covid) offering Bluetooth access to commentary of what's being watched in the individual booths would make it awesome. Thank you...Will definitely come again!!!

German Doner Kebab (GDK) in Derby City Centre has been consistently excellent for weeks on end. The food is outstanding, with a superb preparation. However, the service can be lacking due to communication difficulties caused by the staff's strong foreign accents. This issue is not unique to GDK, as it occurs in many places. Nevertheless, their teamwork is highly commendable as they have no trouble understanding each other.
The Kebag is really good. It is flavourful and delicious. Worth it for the price. Carl is very good to recommend this one and very keen with the details on each menu that I asked. He is very accommodating and was able to provide excellent customer service. ☺️😊

The sauces are the best part. They are quite unique, tasty and iconic for the brand. Otherwise the meat itself is fairly below average. Best pizza and kebab can offer you something way better. I wouldn't pay full price for this. The packaging is nice I guess but extremely unnecessary for such a substandard product and just a pain to tear up for recycling.

Ive tried getting a refund with uber but yet to hear anything. Im hoping I dont get a bad stomach of what i did eat of it. I rang and the person on phone didnt seem bothered and sounded like it was a regular accurance. I orderd before and there was a hair in my food. This is my last time ordering.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Genuine Review of GDK I don’t usually leave reviews, but GDK deserves it. If you’re looking for something better than your average kebab, this is the place. Food Quality: The first thing you notice is how fresh everything is. The meat is perfectly cooked—juicy and full of flavor, without being greasy. The bread is soft but has that slight crisp from being toasted, which makes a huge difference. The salads are fresh and crunchy, and the sauces are on point. Their signature garlic, spicy, and yogurt sauces add the perfect balance to the kebab. Portion Size: Portions are generous without being over the top. I got the Original German Doner Kebab, and it was filling but didn’t leave me feeling heavy. Their Doner Box with fries is great if you’re after something more loaded. Taste: Honestly, it’s just next-level. It’s not your usual kebab shop food—it feels cleaner, fresher, and more thought-out. The meat, the sauces, and the bread all work perfectly together. You can tell they care about quality. Service: Service was fast and friendly. Even when it was busy, they handled orders quickly and made sure everything was correct. Value for Money: It’s slightly pricier than a typical kebab, but you get what you pay for. The quality justifies the price. Overall: GDK has completely changed how I see kebabs. It’s fresh, tasty, and feels like a proper meal rather than just fast food. Definitely worth trying if you want something better than the usual greasy kebab. Would 100% recommend.

I had my first experience at McTurk Kebabs in August 2023, driving from Sheffield to Derby after hearing good things about it. Parking was difficult, but it was better to park a short walk away. While the service was a bit slow, the food itself was delicious and served warm. I tried their mix donner with lamb, chicken, and meat which was cooked nicely and came with the right amount of salad and sauces.
I recently ordered from McTurks and honestly it exceeded my expectations! The food was absolutely delicious, and I understand why it’s known as the best Kebab in the midlands. I ordered the McTurks Special kebab for 2 of us and it was a lot of food for the money. The service was prompt and friendly and every single person from the manager to the other staff were 10/10. I highly recommend this takeaway for anyone looking for a great meal!

I ordered a large chicken kebab - what I got was a sloppy, cartilage filled, 3 day-old salad disaster. As shown by the photo. The naan (which they charge you extra for, by the way), wasn't even garlic. Even the dry, very lightly seasoned peri peri fries couldn't save this horror show. Highly DO NOT recommend.

I am not sure what to call it, I thought it was a Turkish kebab shop, but they were serving Onion Bhaji, Naan (cheese, plain and garlic), Samosas and so on. Check my pictures you will see the whole menu. Taste was not the best, looking at the picture it looks like food of Frankenstein. But if you’re drunk this will work and be worth it. A chicken doner is £ 6. Staff were very friendly.

Easily the best kebab in Derby. The meat is always fresh, tender, and full of flavour—whether it’s the lamb doner or chicken shish, you can’t go wrong. The salad’s always crisp, the bread’s soft and warm, and the sauces just top it all off perfectly. Portions are spot on and the staff are friendly every time. If you’re after a proper kebab, this place never disappoints.

Tried this place for the first time in August 2023. Drove from Sheffield to Derby after hearing about it. Parking is a nightmare, best bet is park 5 mins walk away. Service was a bit slow, but the food was very nice and warm. Ordered mix donner. Lamb, chicken and meat. It was nicely cooked with just the right amount of salad and sauces on. The photos are not the best but the food is very nice.

We won't be ordering again due to all chicken and other burnt very tasteless kebab. So disappointed with this place. Everything was inedible we put majority in the bin. See pictures we attached below it says everything...!

The 7 course taster here was phenomenal. Not sure how frequently they change the menus but what we had in November 2024 last night was just incredible. Decent amount of food when all added up and left very satisfied. They tended to our birthday request to have a table by the window and left a birthday card from the team. What an experience! Highly recommended and reasonable prices.

Had the pleasure of enjoying breakfast here for a birthday treat. I've never had a multiple course breakfasts in this sort of format, so that was interesting. The location is adorable, especially if you can get a window seat. Staff were patient and friendly. The food was amazing! Good quality ingredients, tasteful sauces. The crumpet for my eggs benedict initially looked store bought, but it had much better flavour and texture when eating. Mushrooms on toast was so savoury and creamy, but not overly saucy. The brioche used was not overly sweet, so a good balance for various plates. Would happily return, and looking forward to trying a lunch/dinner menu.

More than 5 stars! A small group of us decided to treat ourselves to the 9 course tasting menu which we enjoyed over a sunny Saturday afternoon. We first sat on the outside terrace and enjoyed a few cocktails with our first courses. We retreated inside for the rest of our meal and decided to also treat ourselves to the wine pairings. There is a vegetarian version of the tasting menu, which I had but the staff kindly kept in the fish course as I do eat fish. All the courses were delicious and we considered ourselves well looked after. Great place for a special occasion or to just treat yourself.

Happiness on a plate - go there you’ll be glad you did - I was enjoying it too much to take any photos until half way through the pudding. The service was charming, the flavours were perfect, the presentation was beautiful

Darleys has been a cherished part of our festive tradition for the past four years, but unfortunately, this year did not meet the high standards we’ve come to expect. While there were some highlights, the overall experience left us feeling underwhelmed. The food was fine but not exceptional. Starters and mains were decent but lacked the flair we’ve enjoyed in previous years. However, the dessert was the standout—an incredible tarte tatin that I’d happily have again. The service, sadly, was where the experience faltered. The wait time between starters and mains was fine, but there was a significant delay before dessert. While the dessert itself compensated somewhat, other service issues persisted, we had to ask for service after waiting 10 minutes with the aperitif menu, and our table wasn’t cleared before coffee arrived. The coffee itself was cold, and to top it off, the petit fours that should have accompanied it were missing—a detail we only realized after leaving. (£8 for a cup of coffee on its own raised the question) The service this year didn’t match the exceptional levels we’ve come to expect. Considering the price point, this experience fell short, and we’ve decided to break our tradition and look elsewhere next year. While Darleys has been a highlight of our festive season in the past, this visit left us feeling disappointed.

It's unfortunate that i didnt enjoy this place at all. Food looked wonderful but I couldnt finish a single plate. If it wasnt for the company I was enjoying id be extremely disappointed. Staff did mention they had a new menu. But I just couldnt understand the flavours. The banana dessert was the only thing I finished in 4 courses

Fabulous food and incredible service. Never been before and their menu fell right into what we fancied for a date night. The food was amazing, each course came perfectly timed. The service was stellar, all the staff were very pleasant, knowledgeable and polite. Very impressed thank you.
