Porta Nigra, also known as the Black Gate, is a grand Roman gateway dating back to 180 AD. It is the largest monument of its kind in the north of Italy and serves as a natural starting point for exploring Trier. Despite several renovation projects over the years, its imposing size and unmissable Roman design have been retained. Visitors can walk through it and even go up into it to appreciate the detailed carvings and sheer size.
Beautiful day out in Trier where this historic gateway is found. A ride in the tourist train is a must ro see the main sights which are all accessible to walk within 20 min radius. Lovely bars and cafes in the square. The Cathedral is beautiful. Home of Karl Marx, his house is good to visit too alongside the amphitheatre, palace gardens and other beautiful buildings.

Absolutely beautiful! We parked in a structure not too far from here near city center. Look in my reviews for the location. This beautiful display of ancient architecture was very impressive. There is a great place to take a picture in front of the gate towards the main road. We just stood in awe!
Mandy O — Google review
It's a strange thing to find such Intact and extensive Roman ruins so far north in Europe! In many ways this building is better preserved than some of the buildings in Rome itself. Very informative interpretation, reasonably priced and presenting good views of the city!
Iain M — Google review
Excellent landmark to visit in the middle of the delightful town of Trier. Museum offers a unique insight into local Roman and political history. Limited public conveniences and places to rest do reduce overall enjoyment, however there's many café options and restaurants nearby.
Emma B — Google review
Stumbled across this Roman structure. Relatively quiet access, amazing looking ancient structure around a more modern area. Well preserved, access allowed into the structure.
Rob B — Google review
Amazing site to see - not often you csn see Roman ruins from the 2nd century. Built from huge sandstone blocks, some weighing 6 tons - without modern machinery. The only one of the 4 original gates still standing, it was spared because it was used as a church. Massive structure in the center of town that should inspire awe. A remnant of a different age, when the Roman Empire ruled much of Europe.
Kevin C — Google review
I visited on a Tuesday late afternoon at around 1600. It is a very well preserved Roman building, where you could enter and walk up to the third floor of the building for a ticket of €5 (Student ticket). The explanation on the history of this building was very detailed and informative. 1 hour is well sufficient for a detailed visit for this landmark and learning its history. Overall, it is a fantastic experience to learn about the history of this area and I would definitely recommend people to visit.
Ah J — Google review
The fact that this was built around 170 AD is absolutely mindblowing. I loved it! They still have some remnants of religious things in it, which was very interesting to see since it was also turned into a church at some point. Went on July 24, 2025

Trier Saint Peter's Cathedral is a stunning blend of Romanesque, Gothic, and baroque architecture. The cathedral features a vaulted, fortress-style design that showcases a mix of artistic styles. Visitors can explore the Market Cross at its center, dating back to 958, and the St Peters Fountain adorned with allegorical figures representing cardinal virtues and playful monkeys. The exterior boasts unique decorations such as Madonnas, gold stars, water features, and oxen.
Build over diffrent epochs from the early begins in the year 310 340 ,by the emperieur Constantin ,one of the most impressive cathedrals i ever seen. The details by each stauts is great and shows the know how of each christian art over 1700 years, a must visite
AMAECHI O — Google review
This was my first time visiting the Trier Cathedral (Trier Dom), and I was truly impressed by the grandeur and historical richness of the place. The architecture is breathtaking — a perfect blend of Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque styles, reflecting over 1,700 years of history. The atmosphere inside is calm and spiritual. The high ceilings, ancient stone walls, and stained glass windows give a powerful sense of timelessness. It’s amazing to think this is the oldest cathedral in Germany, with parts dating back to Roman times. There’s also a lot to explore: the Holy Robe (Heiliger Rock), the crypt, and the quiet courtyards surrounding the complex. Entry is free, and there are brochures in multiple languages available for visitors. I highly recommend taking your time to sit quietly inside and soak in the peaceful environment. Whether you’re religious, interested in history, or just love beautiful architecture, the Trier Dom is a must-visit.
Ameer M — Google review
Trier Cathedral, old architecture marvel because it was built in a very old era. Beautiful historical structure with religious importance because of the holy robe. Last time it was displayed in 2012 to the public where large number of visitors came. To visit inside there are certain timings which changes from winter.
Bhanu A — Google review
Amazing cathedral and architecture, with roots going bsck 1700 years to Roman occupation. Current structure from 13th century and stunning both inside and out. Free to enter, with several options inside to donate towards supporting the building. Hard to imagine how they built it without modern tools. The ceilings are well over 10 stories high, and they elaborate carvings and paintings are simply stunning!
Kevin C — Google review
There are many beautiful and breathtaking cathedrals across Germany and Europe but this one stands at the top with the best. While on the outside it may not appear as daunting or heavenly, inside is quite the opposite. What a breathtaking experience. Be sure to go down below to the catacombs and outside to the courtyard. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Trier.
Dakota D — Google review
A good must visit place in Trier center. Walkable and cathedral looks magnificent. The entire place around the cathedral gives a glimpse into the old Germany. Also entire place will be tourists who are interested in visiting Trier.

The sculptures are beautifully intricate and the whole building is awe inspiring. Some is a bit creepy, but I guess it’s incentive towards good living.

Trier Amphitheater

Amphitheater
The Trier Amphitheater is a Roman monument from the 2nd century AD which is still in use for public entertainment. It was built on a natural slope of the earth, and during antiquity it hosted animal fights, gladiator battles and executions.
Take a picnic to the upper seats and enjoy watching the scenes unfold. We were there during a school age group demonstration. The self-tour around the site and underneath are amazing.
Deb G — Google review
A special feature of this Roman amphitheatre is that you can access the underground areas, which is not normally possible in other amphitheatres. The visit, including climbing up to the stands, takes about 30 minutes. Tickets cost €6, or €16 for a combined ticket for two Roman sites and the Rheinische Landesmuseum, while a combined ticket that also includes the other Roman buildings, all UNESCO World Heritage Sites, costs €28. Free parking reserved for visitors only, bus stop in front, lines 4 ; 6 ; 7 from the city center. Augusta Treverorum, its first name, was founded in 16 BC and became one of the most important Roman cities north of the Alps. The amphitheatre, built between 160 and 200 AD, could seat around 20,000 spectators. The city was conquered at the end of the 4th century and, as often happened, the sumptuous buildings fell into disuse and were used as quarries from which to extract building materials. The stands were completely plundered and the site was transformed into a vineyard.
Fabio R — Google review
Certainly, it's an interesting historical site! However, it's not particularly remarkable, especially when compared to the stunning and beautiful churches in the city center, which are free to visit. The admission price is reasonable, I suppose. You might find better value elsewhere, but it's acceptable. 2 things to point out : 1)Make sure you know where the entrance is, so you won't have to make a circle around the whole thing, due to Google Maps not leading you correctly. 2)If you did happen to walk around the theatre, you can see most of it from the top for free.
Matvii G — Google review
Brilliant place to see some history. Very well preserved and informative information around the site to explain what this place was like in its hey day.
Beverly L — Google review
Interesting historic location which is easy to look around and gives a good sense of what the place would have been like with Roman gladiators. There are signs all around to explain what things are if don't want to go on al tour. The signs are in multiple languages including English. The car park is free but spaces are limited.
Joe B — Google review
Almost 2000 year old Roman amphitheatre where "civilized" people acted totally "uncivilized" staging fights between gladiators and other humans and animals. Now a setting for events and concerts. Interesting well kept up site.
Maria L — Google review

Konstantin-Basilika (Evangelische Kirche zum Erlöser)- Evangelische Kirchengemeinde Trier is a historic site with a rich legacy dating back to 310 CE. Originally built as the throne hall of Roman emperor Constantine, it now serves as a Protestant church. The structure is an architectural marvel, representing one of the largest single-room buildings from Roman times that still stands today.
Historically.significant, astonishingly large space, once a greeting/meeting hall for Emperor Constantine I believe? Damaged by bombing in the war and rebuilt. Its an amazing space with an architectural pipe organ which I would have loved to hear played.
Judy H — Google review
We were excited to visit the basilica, given its impressive exterior and rich history, but found ourselves a bit underwhelmed by the interior. While the architecture remained beautiful, the space inside felt rather sparse and lacked the depth or detail we had anticipated. It didn’t quite live up to the expectations set by its grand façade.
Pernelle V — Google review
Cool remains from the Roman Empire. Apparently the largest room in the world still preserved from that period. Beautiful garden outside as well.
Oscar L — Google review
Incredibly huge monument which used to be the throne of the Roman emperor during 04th century. It is so gigantic that you will be amazed once inside. The ceiling is wooden wood, which is a marvel in itself. Currently used as the worship place for a protestant church. The place and the history is briefly elaborated on the boards inside the premises. This is one of the place uniquely preserved monument standing in Trier which shows the majestic grandeur of Roman architecture era. It is right next to Electoral palace garden, so you cannot miss it.
Animesh K — Google review
Not visited inside. Just saw from outside and went in the Palace Garden behind it. Across the road there starts market road with every kind of Shops and whole area is then only for walking and wandering.
Bhanu A — Google review
Beautiful Roman site that has been part of many different structures but of which the west and north side are assumed to originate from Roman times. Absolutely worth visiting, no admission. Beautiful building with many different construction and renovation phases.

Amazing building! Definitely worth the visit.

Incredible history! It’s a Roman palace basilica and an early Christian structure that was built between AD 300 and AD 310. You can read more about it inside. The organ being played was a treat to hear. Parking is very close. There are gardens out front of it and restaurants and shopping across the street.

The rustic yet comfortable Kartoffel Kiste is a great place to enjoy diverse potato dishes all season long. The restaurant has a seasonal terrace where diners can sit and relax. There's also plenty of seating inside, as well as wheelchair access. The menu offers a variety of European inspired dishes made with potatoes. All of the food is vegan, gluten free, and vegetarian friendly.
Our first foray at a restaurant in a foreign land. What a find! The staff was very kind and attentive. The menu selection was bounteous. The prices were nice, especially for the area. I found something on the menu that I have been looking for for years in the states. Marinated herring. I was in heaven. My wife had the German Style Meatloaf. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere was just perfect. My new favorite restaurant ever!
Phil R — Google review
We had lunch here and it was an enjoyable experience. The food was tasty, the portions were big enough and the meals were served without much waiting. I should say it was totally worth the price which was reasonable. The staff were friendly and spoke both German and English. Even the menu was in both languages. As for the drinks, we tried two types of sweet Riesling wines and they were both very good.
Bahareh B — Google review
I’ve visited this restaurant twice now, both times for lunch. The first time, I had to wait in a short queue before getting a table, but today I was seated immediately without any delay. The service is very friendly, especially by German standards. On top of that, the service is incredibly fast. From placing the order to having the food on the table, it took no more than five minutes. The food is excellent. The flavors are very well balanced and everything is seasoned beautifully. Even though there are some fried items on the menu, the dishes aren’t overly greasy, which makes the meal feel lighter and more enjoyable. I tried the soup with croutons, two variations of schnitzel, and the “Trierer Gefüllte” Kartoffelklöße (stuffed potato dumplings). Every dish was delicious, you can really taste the care put into the preparation and the quality of the ingredients. This restaurant is a must-try in Trier. Whether you're looking for a quick and tasty lunch or a place with consistent quality, it delivers on all fronts.
Gonçalo M — Google review
Stopped by for lunch on a somewhat busy Friday. The place was fairly quiet when we arrived but it filled up quickly. It's fairly popular, especially amongst an older crowd, as the food also caters to that audience, but I was invited. Two of us had the schnitzel with paprika sauce and one had the mushroom cream schnitzel. The portions are generous but I feel like the food is very much cafeteria quality; the schnitzels felt deep fried and not pan fried. The fries were well prepared though, but the paprika sauce was very runny and not at all heartily seasoned. Staff was friendly and attentive though.
Nebel — Google review
The place was busy and the food came out quickly. Prices were reasonable. Portions were great. Food taste well. Waiters were polite.
Clifton R — Google review
Wonderful food and wine in an outdoor setting. We had literally arrived in Germany this same day and the warmth of our server and the excellent food and drink started our trip on the right foot. Weather permitting recommend eating outside. We sent the next day for the dessert which was excellent as well

I recently visited this mall and I couldn't help but notice the potential for growth and improvement. The facilities are well-maintained, but I believe that more could be done to enhance the overall customer experience. For example, there could be more diverse dining options and additional entertainment activities for families. Additionally, I think that the mall could benefit from hosting community events and promotions to attract more visitors. With some strategic investments and enhancements, this mall has the potential to become a go-to destination for both locals and visitors. I look forward to seeing how the mall continues to evolve and improve in the future

Welcomed with open arms, we were just in time, because when we walked by the restaurant an hour later the place was packed. Great burgers, portions of food were huge, we ordered a menu instead of a regular burger and got so many sweet potato fries we couldn't finish them. The coleslaw was a really nice addition. But the burgers, my god, they were juicy, made with love and stacked like crazy. Don't waste your time standing in line for that other burger place, this is the place you need to be!

This spot was recommended to me and thus I decided to try it out. The outside atmosphere looked pretty cool. Anyway, decided to dine in but got unpleasant stares from one of the staff (short blonde girl with dirty Nike sneakers) So I stood up and walked to her, asked to get my order for to go instead. She was carefree with the way she was talking to me. She then advised that my order would take 10mins so I asked if I could step out for a jiffy then come back, since It would take 10 mins, her response. "Uh yeah I dont care", Its probably a normal response here when talking to customers , and again maybe I am blowing it out of context but come on I dont think thats how one should communicate with a customer. It could also be a language barrier situation. Apart from the unpleasant service, the food is great!

I am a long time customer of dean and david trier. The portion is becoming less and less each day. The lady worker cannot speak German and is VERY ARROGANT. She keep staring unfriendly at me and no smile whatsoever. Portion is very small now compare to even yesterday or a month ago! Less rice each day. Please take care of your hiring process. The workers you hire should be friendly and happy to work in dean and david for God sake. Not like this one lady.

Located just next to Porta Nigra, it's in the very center of Trier. There are plenty of Indoor sitting possibilities. Bathrooms are available and clean. Staff worked quickly and seemed to be organized. Everyone just appeared to be super busy (stressed). Besides, mostly friendly. The choice of dishes is good and vegan/vegetarian options are given. The dishes ordered were fresh, tasty and the portions big enough. The cost value is ok. You receive a buzzer which vibrates ones your order is ready to be picked up at the counter. Ours didn't work. Of course, it happens, but was a bit disappointing. Besides, cool place to have healthy lunch at, although it's a chain.

Turkish restaurant
Ephesus Kebap-Haus is a small restaurant situated in the city center at Hauptmarkt, making it conveniently located. The prices are reasonable and the food is delicious, with fresh bread and chicken. There's also seating available on the 1st floor if you prefer to dine indoors. Visitors have praised the tasty takeaway options and friendly English-speaking staff. Additionally, diners can enjoy a view of Porta Nigra from the second-floor dining area while savoring their meals.
Great location, great food, and nice staff. The place is open even during the holidays. The kebabs are good.

It is a small restaurant located in the city center in Hauptmarkt, therefore location is great. Prices are reasonable and the food is tasty. The bread and chicken were fresh and the durum was delicious. They have seating space on the 1st floor in case you don't want to sit out in the sun.

I've never seen a Döner so empty before. It didn't even taste good. The meat had a strange taste. Definitely not coming back

The guy working around 10:30 PM on 2nd July was extremely rude. He did not hear my order properly and proceeded to shout at me when I asked him to give me the rest of my items. He did not admit to his mistake and his friends had to correct him. Until then he kept being aggressive. He was being extremely unfriendly over a minor misunderstanding that could've been avoided if he either listened properly in the first place or was willing to apologize.

Restaurant
Schlemmereule in Trier offers an elegant dining experience with a focus on creative European cuisine. The restaurant's menu is inspired by French, Luxembourgish, and other European culinary traditions. It also boasts an extensive wine list featuring over 200 wines from the finest Moselle wine estates. The restaurant's location opposite Trier Cathedral provides a picturesque setting for enjoying their fine dining offerings.
Quite pricey, but worth the money for the experience. It may not carry a Michelin star, but is worth a mention as a good locale. Have a sommelier suggest some of the local wines to pair with your meal. Or visit some of the many Weinstuben to try the wines separately.

One of the best restaurants in Trier. Excellent food and a pleasant interior, perfect for spending time with loved ones. Each dish is a small work of art. All meals are prepared with high-quality ingredients and presented in a way that invites you to savor their flavors. The service is professional. A place definitely worth visiting, especially for those who enjoy discovering new flavors and interesting combinations of ingredients.

Very nice restaurant, perfect for an Easter dinner during our vacation. The staff was very welcoming, especially the blond lady that bid us farewell. The food was very well presented and the dishes were delicious, especially the desserts! And the chocolate Easter eggs as a gift were too cute, such a lovely gesture. Menu also in English and reservation possible through Google Maps/Open Table. Great!

Diner was very exquisite and tastefull. If you are looking for a fancy diner in Trier with a reasonable price in a very cosy environment, this is the place. The entry is through an alley from the dom square next to Astoria.

When in Trier we end very often to this restaurant for a simple reason: it is outstanding!! Superb food, impressive wine list, great staff. Today we were also lucky 🍀 since we managed to eat in the outside terrace under a great weather but not too hot. We end up being always the last customers to leave the place since we feel at home 😅 By the way, they indeed accept credit cards as form of payment

I like this resto hidden away in plain sight in the city center of Trier. I was never disappointed eating there, and the service is friendly. Today we tried the poke bowl, ans mushroom as starter, followed by veal filet and red beet gnocchi. All was well made and presented. The rosmary and lime sorbet was delicious.

Gastroenteritis instead of gastronomy! What was supposed to be a festive meal for our wedding anniversary resulted in the most expensive diarrhea I've ever had. When I notified the owner my mail, he replied that he couldn't check every item. Not even an apology.

Kaiserthermen, also known as the Imperial Baths, is a 1600-year-old Roman bath complex located in Trier. Built in the 3rd century by Emperor Constantine, these baths were intended as a gift to the city's inhabitants but were never completed. The remaining walls stand at an impressive 19 meters high and offer visitors a glimpse into the past.
This is such an easy place to stop by quickly and check out such a historical Roman ruin and it’s only a few euros to get in. You can see everything in less than an hour and it’s quite amazing to walk through the tunnels and see the historic remains at this active archaeological site. Definitely take the time to stop by and check this amazing place out.
Dale S — Google review
Very amazing to walk in the tunnels underground. So crazy to think that the walls are almost a thousand years old. Very worthwhile to go visit.
Tammy L — Google review
This Roman ruin is surprisingly easily accessible considering its ticket price, less crowd, and close distance from the town center. Entrance is located at the Southern-west end of the palace garden. Walking through the underground isles makes you feel like you're exploring in dungeons. I brought my kids here and they really enjoyed walking here. The only disappointment is the minimal explanation available on site except the pamphlets you get at the entrance. However imagining how people would have used this place is also very fun. Similar ruins in southern Europe would be much more crowded, I presume. Nearby parking is easily accessible, too.
ZinBok Y — Google review
Impressive enough to see it from outside. Stunning! Entry cost 6€
M. S — Google review
Great Place to Visit if you find yourself in Trier. Tickets are pretty cheap and the underground passageways are exciting to explore.
Marcus C — Google review
A well preserved living museum. Easy to find, and a short walk from other tourist sites. No immediate parking, but good clean toilets and friendly staff. 6 euro for an adult entry, which is well worth it. The history is well preserved and incredible to walk around. There are also modern overview points and history boards
Greg B — Google review
Great place but we missed more information in English
Adriaan V — Google review
There was no waiting time or queue when we went in. Tickets were around €5 or €7 for two people which is not bad at all. You could easily spend there 1h-2h exploring the underground’s. I would highly recommend to visit while you’re in Trier.

Palastgarten is an elegant, French-style garden featuring fountains, sculptures, and flower beds. The centerpiece of the garden is a pool surrounded by ornate statues and tall hedges. Nearby attractions include the Landesmuseum with Roman artifacts and remnants of Medieval city walls. Adjacent to the Konstantin Basilika is the Kurfurstliches Palais, offering a romantic stroll through formal gardens alongside the gorgeous palace exterior.
Beautiful gardens, definitely a must in Trier! The magnolias still had some flowers, and the gardens are very well kept. Lovely!

Garden is adjacent to Konstantin Basilica south of Electoral Palace. It is the combination of garden and palace that looks so appealing to the eye and makes this baroque garden memorable. Medieval city wall remnant adds to the charm.
Mike Z — Google review
Nice area to sit, walk and relax in peace alongside nature- alone or with friends. Just behind the Konstantin-Basilika. The building or structure is also known as Electoral Palace with large garden or just Palace Garden (Palastgarten) as a whole.
Bhanu A — Google review
Huge and beautiful gardens right in the palace premises. The garden is divided into different parts, with proper seating arrangements, fountains and canopies. The main central part is free from any human intervention, to keep it well maintained and preserved. There are benches to sit and places to play in the other part of the garden. We saw many families making small picnic here, which was really cool. There are different fountains and pools present and it is very relaxing to sit around one of them. There is a small shop at the entrance which sells snacks, coffee and drinks.
Animesh K — Google review
It is absolutely eye catching. We went inside and were surprised to see the sealing of the roof. Wooden structure , can call it as an engineering marvel. The garden looks beautiful but you can not sit in the middle. There are benches outside to the border. They get full quite quickly. But the ambiance is great . There is a kiosk to find in the corner

Palace of the electors of Trier. One of the original seven seats that chose the Holy Roman Emperors. Stunning and well kept including the gardens that are free for the public to access. With the Roman baths and main cathedral both a stones throw away this relatively modern palace provides a look into a more recent part of the region's history.

The Church of Our Lady in Trier, known as Liebfrauenkirche, is a stunning example of early Gothic architecture and holds the title of Germany's oldest Gothic church. Its interior features an airy design with multiple arches that evoke the image of a rose, reflecting its dedication to the Virgin Mary. When visiting this remarkable site, you’ll find yourself surrounded by other historical treasures such as the Porta Nigra and St.
Very beautiful and quite large church! Beautiful place for pictures in the cloister and the garden. No entry tickets. Very closely situated to all the other sights as well.

Super cool church with both enormously impressive inside and external architecture. This has architecture and detailed carvings that challenge Notre Dame. Of course the Germans have to outdo France!!
Don D — Google review
The Church of our lady in Trier is a great piece of art. It is so beautiful inside and has a peaceful atmosphere. It is worth to visit it to admire its beauty.
Bert B — Google review
A church constructed during the 17th century which looks dull outwards but immense rich culture and history exists. I was marvelled by the beautiful statue of our lady at the right corner and the huge bird-like looking organ.
Joyal D — Google review
Another beautiful and well decorated church, right next to the main cathedral. Full with beautiful tainted coloured windows depicting the stories. The light coming through those window makes it all magical inside the church. The pillars and high ceilings are further decorated with designs and beautiful paintings. The most beautiful part is the one behind the altar. This is another marvellous piece of architecture in Trier.
Animesh K — Google review
Absolute masterpiece! And the colors! Wow! Did not have high expectations as the church looked like any other church in Germany, but what I saw inside took my breath away! It was probably the most impressive and colorful church I have visited. The light coming through the colored stained glass windows felt almost magical, something surreal and left a wonderful impression on me. Definitely worth visiting on a sunny day! I did enjoy the layout, or I should say floor plan, as it has a rounded base and with the portal and altar niches built in, the floor plan resembles a rose, a symbol of the Virgin Mary. It is a compact church, absolutely perfect for ceremonies for weddings (I would love to attend one here), yet magnificent and massive in size, especially looking up at the tall vaulted ceiling. Worth noticing are also the frescoes on the columns, on each of them depicting 12 apostles. The church is free to enter and it's worth visiting the open cloister and the Saint Peter's Cathedral next door. Visited in July 2022.
Pavel D — Google review
Dom and this church makes use understand what it meant to live in Trier during ancient times. The church itself is magnificent. The lighting inside of the church is wonderful. It is a must visit for anyone who visits Trier. This is a must go place after the Roman monuments.
Sreeram S — Google review
Possibly the most impressive church I have visited in my life. I laugh now as I thought this was a cathedral, but is actually the church. We spent a good hour visiting this extraordinary church and all its many layers, trust me I’m normally the first to be out of a church, but this truly felt like a place that could make you believe in something if like me you are an atheist. I’d loved to have seen a service, I can imagine this place is just so popular. It’s clearly well loved and maintained. There is an interesting heating system, and random construction filled with human remains. If you visit trier you simply have to visit this magnificent building.

The Rhineland State Museum Trier is a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and culture seekers alike. Nestled next to the iconic Porta Nigra, this grand museum showcases an impressive collection of archaeological treasures from the Roman Empire. As you wander through its halls, you'll encounter original statues and artistic masterpieces that are often replicated throughout the city, offering a unique glimpse into Trier's rich heritage. While exploring this remarkable museum, don't miss out on other nearby attractions such as St.
This museum excels in displaying and describing archaeological artifacts from the surrounding region. It boasts an extensive collection of Roman-era artifacts, setting it apart from most other archaeological museums in the area. The museum is clean, well-organized, and provides a complimentary audio guide. However, since most of the descriptions are in German, it’s advisable to use a device like Google Translate to understand them. Fortunately, the audio guide is available in English.
Michael B — Google review
The museum is a very big and beautiful building in itself. The ticket price is affordable. The collection is extensive and very impressive. We are very happy that we have visited this place. The only thing that bothered us is that the lady who was giving directions at the entrance was not very friendly and the ticket person was also not so welcoming. The first impression was therefore not as good as it could have been. The museum made up for it by being very interesting and diverse and with a fascinating collection. The level of craftmanship and artistry of our ancestors is beyond your imagination. The museum also gave us a better context and understanding of the city of Trier. But a friendly welcome would have been the 5th star. It is so easy and costs nothing to give a smile and friendliness.
Anouk T — Google review
Archeological museum focusing on Roman-era Germany. Especially impressive mosaics, and you can view them from a little balcony above. Exhibit signage is mostly in German only. English audio tour available. Entry fee is reasonable. Not at all busy on a holiday Friday. Free lockers. Cafe.
Lauri D — Google review
Extensive and impressive archaeological collection of important finds from the city and surrounding area. Particularly strong on Roman artefacts and large structures. Beautiful mosaics, statues, tombs, and a treasury. Highly recommended! English texts could be more extensive, most descriptions are only in German.
Tillmann L — Google review
Fantastic museum! Amazing range of artifacts, from prehistory to the Roman era and more! Note for tourists is that none of the displays are in English, only in German, and the audio guide is only for certain displays. Furthermore, no internet is available, and data connection inside the museum is poor, so I would reccomend downloading the German dictionary on google translate. So you can translate things you are interested in!! It's an amazing museum :))
Isabel S — Google review
Very nice museum, i was really impressed by the huge collection of artifacts. Specially the Roman Tombs are insane. You can visit at least two to three hours here.. Also, they have a multimedia show at 12, extra cost, around these Roman tombs. So why 4 stars and not 5? Well, German signs all over the place, hardly anything in other language. You can get a free audio tour though. Another thing, the multimedia show, we took the Dutch language guide, but the sound in German was so loud, you could here it through the headphone. Also context about what you see is erm... Nowhere, honestly i had no idea what this show was about.... So yes, fantastic museum, could be better if they think more about other languages....
Peter M — Google review
Went to an excellent Marcus Aurelius exhibition. Well curated, easy to follow with a good mix of artefacts and modern models and supporting material. Most of it bar the smaller items had English translations and the English audio guide was great bar some entertaining translations 🙂 Recommended though it closes at 5. Made it round the main section in about 2 hours so if you want to see more of the other bits come early.
Tom P — Google review
A museum that covers the history of Trier and the surrounding area from the Stone Age to the French Revolution. There is limited information given in English but a free audio guide was provided. We found the layout a bit confusing but I think we managed to see most rooms in the correct sequence. The Roman section is the star of the show for me, much like Trier in general. More details about the exhibits on the audio guide would be good.

The day was cold and we stopped for hot drinks and a snack. Our server, Xenia, was friendly and quick with the delivery. The hot chocolate was the best Ive had in Germany. The biggest surprise was the delicious bowl.of chili con carne. Suggestion to clean the glass on the second floor. The view would have been perfect.

You have a gorgeous view of the palace when you sit outside. Very friendly staff who did their best to speak English. Take into account that you cannot pay with bank cards or credit cards. You need to have cash. There is a museum behind the wall and when you are doing a tour of the museum you can also enter the cafe. They have delicious cheese cake and other cake that you have to try. And something very remarkable about the location: the city wall passes literally through the café!

It's an amazing bar in the center of trier if u like proper done Fisch, not everyplace can cook it properly, I know it because I work with it, I ate an amazing rotbarsch filet with rice and kind of sahne-chili sause, it was amazing , perfectly cooked, the rice moist, and both really tender. My boyfriend asked for Schwertfisch, and omg, it was so juicy, (here we need to add all the plates have a nice size, but for example less Salat with the Schwertfisch and some Bratkartoffeln will be nice, especially with that good quality of meat/ same with the rotbarsch). The prices are good, they have offers for Austern and Sekt for good price. The best it's the wine we drank there (Hauswein) it was amazing. The bar has a cool upper floor , where u can make wine tasting..it's full of photos from different regional wine vines, with all the explanations from every bottle and u can buy them as well!. The bar is kind of Hiden but Massive inside. I will come back.

We visited Trier which is the oldest city in Germany. When you hear Trier, it doesn't sound the name of German city. Anyway, we just entered in this restaurant out of nowhere. And I found they have Oysters 😍 Pasta, fish&chips were not so so good but Oyster was so fresh like I had in the near of the sea somewhere. and there is also wine bar on 2nd floor. Atmosphere was nice, multilingual staff. Organization and service was not the best - couldnt find my reservation although i had an email conforation. Food was over priced for the quality. Too much pepper in bloody Mary, too much salt in mashed potatoes and butter, too much oil on steak and rosemary potatoes. Steak was cooked well right temperature as requested and side salad was very good tasting. For the price I would expect better service and seasoning in the cooking. There are better in the area at a lower price.

Day 3

Off the beaten path
For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like masons. Not quite as popular as Porta Nigra, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

Nestled in the heart of Trier, Germany's oldest city, Masons Restaurant offers a delightful culinary journey that spans the globe. This unique dining experience allows guests to indulge in an all-you-can-eat format, where they can savor small plates from various international cuisines over two-hour slots. With a menu thoughtfully organized by continent, diners can explore diverse flavors and dishes from different countries. The innovative ordering system via iPads at each table adds a modern twist to the experience.
Love the concept! We could try many dishes from around the world. Not sure how authentic they are, but they tasted good. We needed to wait for 6 minutes before ordering the next dish. That’s enough to try all dishes we want within 2 hours. The best ones were chicken with green sauce from peru and all the desserts. Staff were friendly and attentive.

Wow. This is such a fantastic and unique concept! We were scared that the quality would not match the idea, because of such a variety, but we were amazed with every single dish! Really amazing quality of food, wonderful service and a brilliant idea. Eat your way through the world in Trier. I cannot recommend this experience enough. We will definitely come back multiple times🤎

Really wonderful! U feel that food for even better since my first visit. And kindness and helpfulness of staff is really outstanding, can’t remember when I had a such a service the last time. Overall a really wonderful experience and concept! Hope to see masons in more cities!

Amazing experience and delicious food! We celebrated birthday and everyone enjoyed the food. You pay 37€ for menu all you can eat + drinks. You have vegan and vegetarian options! Highly recommended 😄

Great variation from all over the world. Of course not everything can be 100% authentic, but they managed to copy most of the food very well.

masons Restaurant Trier is unusual in that it is set up to allow you to sample different foods from around the world. Everything is a small plate, just enough for a couple bites. You have a choice on what small plates you want to try. Each person can order up to 20 plates! You can order another plate every six minutes through a tabletop kiosk that is at each table. You are allowed to stay up to two hours. They also have desserts from around the world. The staff was awesome and was very attentive to taking dirty dishes away from the table. It was an incredible experience. Wow! PRO TIP: Make reservations for dining here

Very pleasant dinner! Love the concept and we were beyond full when we left! You need to be a little adventurous with your food tastes and willing to try new things (my husband is a little picky and didn’t like it as much as I did). Our favorites were the desserts, especially the salted caramel ice cream. 😍🍦 Made the reservation right here on Google maps. Easy peasy!

Kind service, very welcoming, host and servers all switched to speaking English when they found out our German wasn't great. The concept is fun, ordering small portions of different food. Food was good, served very fast, lots of different tastes, every dish actually tasted different. We didn't need them, but there were lots of vegan/vegetarian options! Price is fair for what you get.

Karl Marx House, located in Trier at Bruckenstrasse 10, is a museum dedicated to the life and work of Karl Marx and the history of communism. The museum showcases exhibits featuring letters, personal possessions, and details about Marx's humble origins and life journey. Despite being born in 1818 in this house and spending 17 years here until graduating high school, some visitors may not be particularly familiar with Marx or his ideas.
I have visited the House of Karl Marx in Trier twice, and I find it very interesting, to better understand the history of Karl Marx. There are not so many items in the house, but you can find a lot of information. Very recommended the visit !
Bert B — Google review
A museum can only convey history as it is. The museum management should keep its own illogical opinions to itself. It is understandable that the Germans could not accept Stal'in. After all, he did not allow them to rule the world. But that is not right. The tyrant, the dictator, was your leader and now you are ashamed to mention his name. And this person is the one who saved you from tyranny. Go to bed and be grateful to him for saving you from a great misfortune.
Anar G — Google review
Good to see history of Karl Marx, lots of exhibition rooms. Downside is lots of stairs if you have mobility issues as this spans 3 floors. It was also very busy when we went so be prepared to ro wait to see, read the information. Home is beautiful with lovely garden.
Beverly L — Google review
Cute courtyard house and museum on 3 floors, very nice staff. You don't need audioguides since texts in each room explains very well the different life stages of Karl Marx and info on the house itself. It is a must see in Trier!
Myriem L — Google review
Beautiful house, had a lot of facts about Karl Marx and his life as expected. But it would have been better if the place can be made a bit more interactive. And the lights were not switched on in the back garden, not sure if it was only for that day. But the garden was very pretty, the management can ensure the lights stay on in the evening, at least during winters.
Siva P — Google review
Thoughtfully curated museum that shows many aspects of Karl Marx's life. Gives a fairly neutral approach to his works and this makes for interesting reading and discussion.

Not sure if I agree that this museum does justice to Karl Marx. I think it is good but not sufficiently well-done

Situated across from the cathedral and the Church of Lady, it's an ideal spot to dine on the terrace while sampling top-quality regional wines. The self-service menu features 'Region's Best,' showcasing a delectable array of fish, sausages, and cheese.
Great food with great prices. I ordered the Schnitzel, which was really good and homemade. I also enjoyed the fact that this is a historical restaurant in the heart of Trier with a marvellous view of the Basilica. The wines also had a really good price and were delicious.

My husband and I had dinner here this evening. The servers we engaged with spoke great english, offered an English menu and found us a good table to sit out. The food was large portion sizes and great value. We enjoyed the wine and the view. We’d definitely return! 🙂

What a great time we had! The local wines were delicious, and the food was exactly what you’d expect from a German restaurant. We travelled through our plates, and with the atmosphere inside. Nice waiters. Although, the restaurant can be packed so plan ahead if you want to be sure to seat inside.

A lovely experience in the heart of Trier! The outside seating is enchanting with views of the cathedral, the inside eis cozy and rustic. It is a great place to get local food and sample local wines! You order and pay at the bar up front and food will be delivered to your table. Portions are generous and wether you want a small snack, big meal, vegetarian option or meat dish, there is something for everyone. Perfect Saturday lunch in summertime👌

Wonderful place In front of the St Matthias Church You can fine looking at this amazing architecture (Pisa tower style) Food Very good, also with only vegetarian or fish options!! Very much appreciated! Very good service! Very good organisation! Normal/long waiting times; Also the charcuterie very good! They have olive oil upon request We loved it!! The interior is also lovely and typical! A place where to return ! Outside there is a countryside grapevine decoration all around the table! Just the perfect frame! Only minus, too much salt on the mushrooms and the extra white sauce on the salad! Our suggestion: keep it aside ;) See you next time time to try the very promising deserts

Nestled just a stone's throw from the bustling heart of Trier, Das Weinhaus is a delightful tavern that beckons wine enthusiasts and food lovers alike. With its inviting patio tables and cozy red wine room, this charming spot offers an impressive array of Mosel wines sourced from esteemed local wineries. The philosophy here is simple: life’s too short for mediocre wine!
With an excellent selection of local wine and great food pairings, Das Weinhaus offers a quality gastronomical tour of the Moselle River valley. The service is superb with every member possessing ample knowledge of the dozens of wine on hand to ensure that you’re met with the right wine you desire. I found this place in a pinch at the last minute and I was so impressed both by how accommodating the restaurant was but also by the stellar quality of the food. Try any local Riesling and perfectly light and fresh schnitzel.

Went today, 12 oclock, nobody in the terasse, asked for 6 pers table for a short dinner. The person was sitting foing nothing and did not proposed other table than one under the sun. We asked if we could merged 2 tables since not booked. Not possible. ‘The man is cleaning the table’ Never tried to catch up us… How to loose 6 customers. Never seen a so poor service.
Alex — Google review
Located just opposite the Karl Marx house, the interior is somewhat rustic with some high tables, normal tables, two different types of flooring and also a bar area. It is however, a perfect place to do some wine tasting. There are bottles upon bottles of Mosel wine and also Offered by the glass. The selection was extensive and reasonably priced. Food is sizeable, the Wiener schnitzel was big enough to be shared by two for a light lunch. Service was average.
Travelling D — Google review
Would recommend the place for wine (which was fantastic) but not really for the food or speed of service. Had to get the attention of the waitresses every time even though we arrived around 1700 when the place was mostly empty and left when the place was filling up after 1900. Everyone was really friendly but service being hard to come by made it hard to enjoy their hospitality. Schnitzel and the side salad were decent but the cheeseboard we had wasn’t well curated. The mix of cheeses didn’t provide enough variety in texture or taste.
Carmen K — Google review
I was pleasantly surprised by most aspects of my visit, though there were a few areas where the experience could be improved. For my main course, I had the "salmon fillet". The potato crust along the edges was a delightful touch—crispy and flavorful. However, the crust at the center of the filet was too soft. The cucumber salad served alongside it was fresh, but its flavor slightly overpowered the fish. Overall, it was good, though not as filling as I had hoped. The "fish plate" featured nicely cooked fish, but the flavor profile was a bit too neutral. The accompanying potatoes were cut too thick and had a soft texture; thinner slices might have worked better. The cream sauce was fine, though it could just as easily have been replaced with a classic remoulade. The bread served with one of the other dishes could have been fresher, which was a slight disappointment. On a more positive note, the wine selection was good and the staff showed excellent knowledge and were able to make recommendations tailored to personal taste. I was also impressed that they took orders without writing anything down. For dessert, we ordered crème brûlée with mango sorbet. The portion was surprisingly large, with a scoop of sorbet placed on top. I think a smaller portion without the sorbet would have been more elegant. Unfortunately, the crème brûlée itself felt too heavy and lacked a pronounced vanilla flavor. Overall, the restaurant offers enjoyable dishes and commendable service, but a few refinements in preparation and presentation could elevate the dining experience.

Was there today 4th July for lunch with my wife. The service was good, we had two schnitzels, two glasses of wine and two of Dr Loosens kellerbiers. The drinks were sourced very locally and food was excellent. Really enjoyed it.

My friend and I stumbled upon this place while walking around the city. When we arrived we were greeted warmly by the staff in English. Our waiter was patient with us and kind. My friend and I both ordered white wines, even though we aren’t wine drinkers we loved our selections. We also ordered a veggie flammkuchen, which was good.
Moriah C — Google review
I've been looking for a place in Trier which does wine pairing and this is the place to go! It ticked all of my boxes! I tried 4 local wines, which accompanied every dish perfectly. The wines were also served at the perfect temperature to compliment their tasting notes. Expect to spend when you go, but it is completely worth every cent for the experience. The restaurant has a very relaxed atmosphere, you can enjoy good wine without being pretentious! When visiting, put your trust in the staff for wine suggestions, their wine knowledge is exceptional and you might try something you wouldn't usually pick and end up surprising yourself. I'm usually a red wine drinker, but my world has been expanded and I'm now even more curious about what this part of the world has to offer. The dishes were also above par, their portions were not to large and the ingredients were fresh and flavourful. You can tell the menu was designed to go along with one of the many wines on offer. Big thanks to Patrick for his excellent service and knowledge, which seemed completely effortless on his part. Das Weinhaus will be sad to see such an asset go, but I wish the best of luck for his next adventure! I will definitely be back! NB: I went on a Thursday evening in winter without booking, but I would recommend that you book at the weekends and summer to avoid missing this gem!

Sandwich shop
Subway is a popular casual dining chain that specializes in customizable sandwiches and salads, catering to health-conscious diners. With a focus on fresh ingredients, patrons can create their perfect meal tailored to their tastes. The atmosphere is typical of fast-casual eateries—clean and straightforward—making it an inviting spot for quick bites. While service can vary depending on the staff, most visitors enjoy friendly interactions and appreciate the variety offered on the menu. Regulars often recommend downloading the app for added convenience!
We love coming back here, the sandwiches are fresh and amazing, the service usually good, but it highly depends on who is currently on shift (never experienced anything "bad", just some off-focus on customers while making the sandwich). Atmospherically, it is a Subway, nothing to write home about, but we are happy to see the shop being constantly kept clean. We are returning customers and the price-value definitely is worth it. Download the app if you are a regular!

Very sloppy staff. We ordered plant based chicken teriyaki and he made it with normal chicken and when we told him he seemed angry and unfriendly . To be honest I'm not sure if he could completely understand German. One of the other guys was just seating outside while the tables were dirty, the bathroom was filthy, no soap no toilet paper... They would just seat outside instead of taking care of lots of things that were obviously not taken care of. My husband asked for one cookie and he put two instead in a bag and also charged us for two but at that point we lost all the hope that he would do anything right and probably so we didn't make a fuss about it. But I won't recommend this branch at all.
Parinaz K — Google review
Sandwich was fine . The flies over the fillings was too unhygenic. The non vegetarian items were getting mixed in the vegetarian ones.
Jack J — Google review
I recently purchased two sandwiches from Subway, a chicken teriyaki and a fajita. After consuming them, both my companion and I fell ill and vomited. The bread had a foul, old smell, suggesting it was at least 3-5 days old. Additionally, the ingredients were not fresh. It's concerning that critical reviews often get deleted, and I hope this one remains to warn others.
Pwneshireno — Google review
Almost laughable on how absurdly bad this is. Don't expect the ingredients you chose on your order, they will screw it up somehow! Real examples as follows: Want a Pepsi? Here's a Schwip-Schwap! Ordered salami? Here's some ham! Want a chicken salad? Here's everything except the damn chicken! Either there's a reading problem or they just do it for the giggles. Avoid like the plague! The worst I've ever seen!

Right at the market square. The ambience is fine, the people at service are nice and friendly. Mine sandwich was made with care and patience. I did order the meatless chicken teriyaki, which I did not like. The sandwich was good, the materials and sauces were in good proportion but the meatless chicken was too intense. They do have a outside seating area. We did sit outside, facing the market square and watching the busy streets.
Animesh K — Google review
Decent Subway with friendly staff who can speak English. However, the only problem I noticed was flies running around the food. I have noticed it in bakeries as well, not a huge problem but still feels a bit unhygienic!

KAZUMI is an Asian restaurant located above Grabenstrasse in Triers Hauptmarkt. It offers a mix of Asian and European cuisine, with a passion for cooking and creativity evident in their delicious dishes. The menu includes sushi rolls, curry, noodles, and a great selection of cocktails. Visitors praise the friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, and great view of the cathedral when sitting outside.
One of the best restaurants in Trier, this is the perfect place to have a great time with friends and family, even in large groups. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and the food is delicious. Our group of 10 enjoyed both the food and drinks. They can also accommodate special requests. It's the perfect location to stop by and satisfy your Asian food cravings. Enjoy! Most importantly I was surprised that one of the staff could speak Hindi. That was a pleasant surprise.

The place is on the second floor of a building, that is why we just realise it even thiugh we pass by the street quite often. The service is ok, the food is nice. The portion is big. Probably for children’s menu, the variation can be added. Overall it is a nice experience.

Hi folks, tested this japanese type asian restaurant in Trier: Been 2 people, sat inside. Their concept is "asian fusion cuisine". Ordered wakame salad as appetizer and spicy green curry duck breast as main meal. Food was really nice indeed, though on the quite expensive side: Expect 60€ per adult for a standard 3-course *if* you stay with softdrinks. Add regular wine or japanese beer to easily beat this amount. Inconveniently located in pedestrian zone, better leave your car in a car park away. Service a bit on the slow side. If you look for a value japanese place, clearly pick elsewhere... i've seen better options in this area. If you plan going anyway, i suggest their curry, as quite some reviewers have done before, they seem popular specially for that...... Thanks for reading.

The food is good and very fresh but after being there for the second time I must say that they put a lot of sugar while cooking and to homemade drinks. Service is ok, I appreciate the service from the young waiter there, but the waitress is just ok. I give one star for the atmosphere and two for service cause on the first visit I have witnessed screaming and arguing among the staff, that should not be done next to your guests, even if something is wrong.

The Roman Bridge in Trier, Germany, is a historic landmark dating back to the 2nd century. It spans the Moselle River and is renowned as the oldest bridge in Germany. While its original pillars date back to ancient times, the arches and roadway were reconstructed in the 18th century. During World War II, it narrowly escaped demolition by the German army. The area surrounding the bridge offers charming riverside restaurants and a youth hostel with efficient German hospitality.
Beautiful old Roman brigde, mostly full of cars, but in rare occasions when it's sunny, it looks wonderful. The surrounding area is conceputally connected with the old walls and remains of rhe Roman fortifications. Good for a nice walk by the Moselle river.

Amin — Google review
The oldest bridge in Germany. Built by Romans. It is incredible to see that its foundations are still standing today after 1800 years and even support vehicular traffic. Wow!
Julián G — Google review
Worth seeing when in Trier. The oldest bridge in Germany since it still stands on its 200 AD Roman foundations. A plaque on the bridge commemorates the US liberation of Trier. There is a matching model of this bridge as it looked and was built in Roman times in the Rheinisches Landesmuseum in town. Note: nearby you can see medieval cranes used to offload boats from the Mosel river.
Mark D — Google review
The bridge has a very beautiful architecture. For the time we live in today, it is within the parameters, considering that it was built at a time when there were no cars on the road.
Shpetim D — Google review
I was willing to go out of my way to take a look at what the Roman Bridge had to offer, which unfortunately wasn't much. For UNESCO World Heritage Site hunters and history aficionados, you would nevertheless go out of your way to visit the Roman Bridge. One may find the serene Moselle River a change of scenery from the famous areas crawling with tourists. Otherwise it may not be worth your time to travel off the beaten path for this bridge.
Kah A — Google review
The bridge is well preserved. You can view river Mosel here.
Tracy H — Google review
One of the places that are in the list of UNESCO and can be visited for free. You can walk on the bridge itself or walk under it in the nearest park

Barbara Baths, a 2nd-century Roman bath complex in Trier, was once the second largest of its kind in the Roman Empire, covering an impressive 42,000 square meters. The complex boasted luxurious spa and wellness facilities including heated pools, beauty salons, restaurants, a cultural center and a library. Although only a portion of the original site remains today, visitors can stroll along an outdoor walkway to view mock-ups of the grand baths.
They where the second biggest baths in the whole Roman Empire after the one in Rome. Still a lot to discover. The entrance is free but the baths have an working time. Part of the UNESCO lost of the World cultural heritage

Barbara baths are around 15 min walk from Trier Centrum but I was disappointed because the ruins are protected site hence many site are covered. Pics for reference. If you happen to pass by this place then please do visit here otherwise you won't miss much.
Mahima S — Google review
Its a shame that the preservation of this site isn't receiving the funding it deserves. It needs proper protection in a museum building. In its current state its not very accessible.
Jason N — Google review
Not much can be seen and analysed but only can be imagined and assumed. Because only some portion got excavated. But the baths are very very old. Most of the recovered part of baths is also covered so , it is just that if someone is present in that area can visit the baths otherwise nothing much to be missed😁. The history of the baths can anyways be read on internet😅.

W arrived at 2:30 pm and The gate was wide open and so we entered and before we got to the ticket office a young woman came out and abruptly told us we had to leave. She claimed it was closed although online it said they are open until six.

Interesting site. Great descriptions in English with pictures so you can see what they are talking about and picture what it used to look like. Looks like they need more funding to do more excavating and they could probably find more artifacts.

Forum Baths is a Roman thermal bath complex dating back to circa 100 CE, now enclosed by a modern glass cube. The site hosts regular events under the glass cube, such as the wine forum in January, offering an opportunity to sample wines and engage with regional winemakers. It also features ruins of other Medieval structures and offers insight into the Roman era. The well-preserved site includes informational videos and facilities like a wardrobe, elevator, and toilets.
Thanks for protecting such an important place. Very well to put a building upon this to preserve.

Hidden gem, a 'must see' site in Trier. No one else there during my visit!
Ben K — Google review
I would recommend not go inside. The architectural design will cook you and suffocate you from inside. The glass covering used to protect the baths will act as a convection oven for anyone inside. As for the baths itself, there is much to see for the money you pay. Most of it could be seen from the outside of the glass building without paying a single penny. We had to leave before completing the while tour since my girlfriend started suffocating.

I wanted to see this place as they mentioned a special exhibit for the weekend. information center and others keep saying it is open. Tried 2 times walking around and trying to ring the bell for entry and no one came through. It was closed with no prior information. Really disappointed.

Chicano is a charming little restaurant that brings the vibrant flavors of Southern California to Europe, blending authentic Mexican cuisine with a unique Californian twist. This cozy eatery has garnered praise for its delicious dishes and delightful desserts, making it a hidden gem among food enthusiasts. Chef Ariel Morfin, hailing from San Diego, infuses his meals with rich Mexican heritage, ensuring every bite is packed with flavor. The warm atmosphere welcomes guests and even their furry friends!
We came across this place while randomly searching for a place to eat.. and we got so lucky. It is one of the best Mexican food we have ever had. We are vegetarians and we loved the veg options. We tried the California burrito, taco and sweet potato fries - all of them were super delicious. The ambience was very cozy and the staff was great.. overall we would definitely like to visit this place again.. 😃
Ankita M — Google review
This place has a great variety of tasty dishes. Veggie and vegan options as well. We tried some burritos, tacos, and loaded fries which were all amazing! The prices were decent too. However, upon arrival we saw a sign that said 'cash only', which we didn't know as we didn't see that information anywhere in advance. Luckily, we had just the right amount with us although we usually don't carry cash.
Pia — Google review
My friends kept raving about this authentic Mexican spot, but I was skeptical, and figured it was just another place with more hype than substance. But when I finally stopped by during their open hours, I was genuinely impressed. Right away, I was greeted warmly by the owner and staff, which set a welcoming tone. The ambiance had a relaxed, heartfelt vibe, and the music was perfectly curated to match. Then came the real surprise, the Surf and Turf burrito. One bite in, and I was speechless; my taste buds were in heaven 🌯🤤. I also tried a drink called Jamaica, which was incredibly refreshing, especially on a hot summer evening. Safe to say, I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

The Electoral Palace, located in Trier, is a 17th-century palace with guided tours available for visitors. The Aula Palatina, also known as the Basilica of Constantine, was originally a Roman palace basilica and is now used as the oldest Protestant church in Catholic Trier. The palace was once the residence of the Archbishop and Electors of the powerful Electorate of Trier within the Holy Roman Empire.
So lovely gardens and statues. Magnificient place. So calming and nice for day rest. One of the most beautiful historic towns in Germany - Trier. Worth visiting during all seasons. Even in winter. My recommendations!

A really cool political and social/political building since it was a palace originally. Roman design build and alot of statues as well as large stained glass. Wall heated by Romam inginíty
Don D — Google review
There is limited public access to the palace except for occasional public tours or exhibitions since it’s an administrative building now. Gardens and palace facade is the main draw for visitors.
Mike Z — Google review
The palace is next to the basilica. The facade is a gorgeous Rococo style with lavish pink and gold decorations. There are some marble sculptures in front of the palace. The large garden and lawn balance the splendidness. Because it’s so picturesque, some people were taking wedding pictures there. The pond at the side provides serenity.
Aggie W — Google review
The gardens in front of the Palace are amazing. Very well maintained and peaceful. They attract visitors of all ages and the playgrounds next to them are very convenient for parents with small kids. The white sculptures and the pond add to the beauty of the green surroundings.
Eriola K — Google review
A beautiful picturesque building right next to the basilica. The exterior is Rocco style with marvellous gold decorations which shines bright during a good sunny day and beautifully carved sculptures. There is a beautiful lush green lawn and huge garden in the palace premises. We did not go inside, but it was good to admire the beauty by taking a nice walk in the gardens which provided different views of the palace. The visit to the gardens is free and it is a nice way to walk to Kaiserthermen if you are interested in visiting the remains of old Roman bath.
Animesh K — Google review
Nicely coloured palace with beautiful rococo façade surrounded by joyful and nice gardens full of sculptures. Its a great place to relax and reflect after a long day touring Trier. The palace's vibrant pink color and its rich rococo façade are simply stunning, making them perfect background for wedding photography. Apparently visitors can access the interiors by booking a tour, however I did not have time to do that, I did rather take a stroll around in beautifully maintained and manicured gardens with ponds and fountains. There is a café located in the middle of the gardens and at the south corner an entrance to the Kaiserthermen can be found. Visited in July 2022.

Although you are not able to tour the inside at the moment, it’s still a beautiful place to visit. The gardens are gorgeous, there is a huge playground for kids and a pond that had a ton of ducks just hanging around.

Great gem in Trier. Came for brunch; good coffee, really good gluten free bread, yummy hot sauce available, and lovely outside seating. Recommend!
S T — Google review
The atmosphere is really nice and cozy. The menu sounds nice but the food was average (we ordered a pizza and a bowl). The pizza dough was nice but sauce was a bit watery. The Liebling bowl was ok but a bit too salty. The service was really slow (this was on a Saturday and the place was full). The waitress and waiter took relatively long to get our orders and the food took a long time too. Also the waiters never asked if we wanted more drinks even when ours were finished and we left without coffee to avoid having to wait any longer
Alice G — Google review
The food was delicious and the service really friendly, however, it felt like they were understaffed as we waited like 20-30 minutes to order and even longer to get our food served and there seemed to be only one server working on a Sunday. Otherwise, I will definitely be coming back.
Lola — Google review
Extremely tasty food! We took the lieblings bowl, which sauce was amazing! All the pizzas can be made vegan! Very kind English speaking staff! Nice atmosphere!
Haris M — Google review
We’ve been regular guests at your restaurant because we really enjoy the pizza and the atmosphere. However, we felt compelled to share our disappointment following a recent visit, due to how a situation was handled when we were paying. We had ordered an alcohol-free Radler, but were served one containing alcohol. At the time, we didn’t complain about it, as we understand mistakes can happen. However, when we were splitting the bill and mentioned the “Radler,” the server had trouble finding it in the system. When we pointed to the alcohol-free option on the screen (the one we had originally intended to order), we briefly mentioned that we had been given the wrong drink. At that point, the server told us that the system lists both drinks under the same name, which we understood. However, when we clarified again that we had ordered the alcohol-free version, the server abruptly raised his voice and insisted multiple times that we had ordered the alcoholic Radler, adding that there is no alcohol-free option. If that were truly the case, it would have been helpful to let us know at the time of ordering. Also, the way the menu is written is quite misleading — the words “alcohol-free” are listed directly next to Radler. Even if there was a misunderstanding, we were quite taken aback by the server’s tone and the volume, which even drew attention from other customers. We used to enjoy going to this place. Our experience this time, unfortunately, left us disappointed, and we hope similar situations can be handled with more care in the future.
Sophie B — Google review
Food was okay and very overpriced. It took 20 minutes till 2 bowls and bread and hummus was served and hummus didn’t taste like hummus as we know it. It was some thick paste with odd consistency which can’t be even spread on a bread, forget about dipping it.

Burger House in Trier is a must-visit for burger enthusiasts. The Avocado Dream and Cheazy-E with added bacon are highly recommended, along with the refreshing mango lemon iced tea. The truffle park fries are also a hit, although some wished for more toppings. Despite the broken milkshake machine during one visit, the overall experience was described as divine.
Very nice place with very yummy burger ! The proportion are very good, the Price correct and the taste is very good. The service was perfect, very kind and fast
Emilie K — Google review
The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was great for a burger spot. The burger itself was good, though a bit too fatty for my taste. As for the cheese fries with bacon, they weren’t as impressive as I expected. Overall, a decent experience
Elli S — Google review
I was walking through Trier when the smell coming from this place stopped me in my tracks—so I grabbed a table outside along the pedestrian walkway. Nice spot to people-watch and enjoy the evening. It did take a little while before anyone came by to take my order, but once I got my food, it arrived fast. I had the Mr. Burns burger with hand-cut fries. Both were solid—fresh, flavorful, and just what I was hoping for. I had been looking forward to trying one of their shakes, but unfortunately, they weren’t offering them that night. Overall, a good stop if you’re in the mood for a burger in a casual setting. I’d go back.
Michael B — Google review
Food extremely overrated; average at best - soggy buns, overly salty patties..and the ambience screamed ‘fast food’…(the bottled ciders are good though..). The excellent table service however almost made up for the disappointing food.

I was last week and was very excited as I did eat couple of year ago and had great experience, with my family’s However this time the food was OK, i ordered avacodo burger. A nice hamburger . A good option to eat in Trier . They have also gluten free portions
Alon M — Google review
Absolutely fantastic burgers!! This is what it used to be like in the U.S., but you'll be hard-pressed to find it anymore over there. Had the Cheezus on day 1 of my visit, and the Kevin Bacon on day 2. Definitely arrive very hungry for the former, as it is 240g of meat. The Cheazy-E looked great as well, as it appears to be a scaled-down version of the Cheezus, in case you aren't as hungry for the Cheezus. Staff was friendly, and though busy, were attentive. Food arrived fast, too, which was a pleasant surprise. Tip: you will not need to order a side of fries if you get a burger, which is included, and is generous and perfectly-prepared. Atmosphere is great, and one thing we all commented on, was that we felt we had adequate space from other tables, which was also a plus. Plenty of seating outside as well. If I were to make any recommendation to the establishment, it would be a slightly better beer list, though this is certainly not a deal-breaker. The radler offered was refreshing, and the Aperol got high marks as well...but I did wonder what it would be like to have these amazing burgers paired with a fine German rauchbier or a schwarzbier. I am returning to town for Christmas, and I intend to try the other offerings on the menu.

(Translated by Google) I have known the tart manufacturer for several years. I was always very satisfied with the tarts and the service. Today I was there again and I found the process quite chaotic. There are two double signs outside. Not every guest reads what is written on the sign. It is better to hang a sign in front of the door that is immediately noticeable to the guests and that the guests know directly how they should behave. One more thing, the tarts came to the table first, and the coffee came about 10 minutes later. (Original) Ich kenne die Törtchenmanufaktur seid mehreren Jahren. Noch eine Sache, die Törtchen kamen zu erst auf dem Tisch, und ca 10 min später kam der Kaffe dazu.

On a Friday evening, they arrived at Herrlich Ehrlich, where despite being busy and adhering to social distancing measures, they managed to secure a table. The cuisine was exceptional and the attentive staff went out of their way to assist, even though they did not speak the local language. The only drawback was that cash was the only accepted form of payment.
Really nice atmosphere. Informal and friendly. We had two vegetarian starters which were substantial and very tasty. The service was quick and we then went for a shared dessert, which was also delicious and substantial. Dogs are welcime and there is an outside bar area from which you can watch the river if you just want a drink. So nice we went back again a couple of days later.

"What a fantastic dining experience my husband and I had! We began with the 'Vorspeisen Variation,' a shared appetizer that was a delightful medley of small dishes. Each bite showcased the pure, authentic flavors and high-quality ingredients, truly a treat for the palate. For our main courses, I opted for the 'CousCous-Bowl mit Falafel,' while my husband enjoyed the 'Offener Kafta-Burger.' Both were exceptionally tasty. The Kafta-Burger was masterfully spiced and thoughtfully combined. My CousCous-Bowl was a vibrant explosion of flavors - a generous blend of perfectly prepared and seasoned vegetables, complemented by a substantial portion of couscous, incredible hummus, and delicious falafel. The addition of roasted cashews provided the ideal textural and flavor contrast, making it a true culinary highlight. We absolutely loved our meal! Dining on the charming terrace beneath the trees was an added bonus. The staff were very friendly, and the overall ambiance was wonderfully pleasant and relaxed."
